I'm Jessica Ettinger, CNBC, Wall Street, setting up for a morning in the green to start this final week of summer trading the Dow up 60 points out of the gate being led higher by shares of Apple, which are up more than 1%.
The S&P 500 index up 24 points. The NASDAX up 113 points. A half percent, Nvidia shares, though, are in the red. They're down 1.5% this morning.
The Fed begins a two-day meeting on interest rates tomorrow with a decision on Wednesday.
Investors are betting on an interest rate cut and the beginning of what they hope will be a rate-cutting cycle of several cuts.
The Senate expected to vote tonight to add new President Trump's pick Stephen Myron to fill a vacancy on the FOMC, the Federal Open Market Committee.
And it's expected Myron would vote to lower interest rates this week.
there is, though, a debate about Fed independence.
And he's going to keep his job.
And he'll keep his job at the White House, at least in pretty early.

It seems so problematic.

President Trump posting about trade talks with China in Europe,
hinting on a deal that may move Chinese-owned TikTok into U.S.

Tesla shares hire today.
CEO Elon Musk disclosed his first stock purchase since 2020, 2.57 million shares worth about a billion dollars.
Tesla remains down slightly for 2025. It has served 25%. Over the past three months,
The company is also seeking shareholder approval for a new musk pay package worth up to $975 billion
tied to some ambitious milestones.

It's a measure of manufacturing in New York State, a negative number for September.
Coffee hit its highest since April on bad weather and tariffs.
Coffee prices were up nearly 4% in big U.S.
in the new CPI report the highest monthly gain in 14 years.
Brazil is the top source for coffee coming into the U.S.
It's one of the most heavily tariffed countries by President Trump.
KPMG's Diane Swank told CNN the coffee prices will easily exceed records
as the full effects of the tariffs work their way on two store shelves.
