Coffee Brick Spanish Season 4 Episode 1.
Hello to all, and welcome to Coffee Brick Spanish.
Good days, Carmen.
Good, days, Mar.
How are you?
Very, and you?
Well, our audience, no, not you're going to know?
Well, but me present in a second.
Perfect.
Well, presentate.
Well, I'm Carmen.
I'm a professor of Spanish in Scotia,
and I'm from a region very small in the interior of Spain,
that's called Kuenca.
Quenka.
So I don't know
very well.
No.
You can't
explain a little
where is,
if is the
very far
or close
of a city
that we're going
to know.
Kuenka
is in
middle of
Madrid and
Valencia.
Okay.
Sure,
you know,
these two
cities,
are quite
famous.
And Kuenka,
the region
of Kuenka
is famous
for Don Quixote
principally.
And,
also,
also,
that's very
very good.
It's very
very good,
Yes.
Very
very
and then
you're doing
classes
here in
Scotia
you're
teaching
the Spanish
yeah
here
in Glasgow
in a
school
of a
school
and what
yeah
I like
much
I'm
much
it's
much
pretty
more
more
more
than
yeah
yeah
well
we're
already
started
talking
quite a lot
of
Spanish
here
in this
first
episode
of
our
fourth
season
of
coffee
Spanish
and
that
hopefully
is the
way
things are
going
to
continue
because we are
here to help you understand and develop your Spanish speaking skills.
With this fourth time of Coffee Big Spanish,
we're going to help us to augment your vocabulary.
Also, to ampliare your knowledge about the grammatica
Spanish.
And we're going to do all of this by helping you understand a series of
texts.
And these texts basically tell a story.
It's the story of Spanish Maria.
and her Scottish boyfriend Rory and his friend Alejandro
and how they spend their summer in Majorca,
in the Balearic Island of Majorca in Spain.
So over the next 40 lessons,
you're going to be listening to these texts,
and their texts are full of fantastic vocabulary,
interesting grammar points,
and of course lots of idiomatic expressions to help you
express yourselves in a variety of ways in Spanish.
And, well, I think it's hour
to start to
hear our
our text in
Spanish.
Perfect.
Okay,
this first text
is a
diary entry
written by
Maria.
Let's go
to get you.

returned of Edinburgh,
where I've
passed a year
incredible.
The Erasmus
has been
a success for
many reasons.
In the
university, I
have learned
many things,
not only
of my
career,
history of
art,
but also
my professors
Scocese
and my
companions
of class.
Apart to
study,
me
surgue
the
possibility
to
do
class
as
asistente
of
Spanish
in the
central
Lorca,
and
it was
great.
I'm so contented
to have enjoyed and to have
learned many
my own country and
of my own
and my own
the truth is
that the classes
nocturnas
of Spanish
were a great
lesson for me
and,
well,
there is where
he was where
a child
a child
a little
of a
kind of
hair,
peckitas in
the narif,
sonrisa
great and
and as a good

He has studied

Of course,
he lived
a time in
Argentina.
It's the
man the

and interesting
of the
world,
but what
I'm
to say
I'm
not a
impartial.
When
I saw

he said with
that accent
so much.
Hello,

I don't
do you
do you
put a
carcajada.

the
typical
excuse

Spanish, we started to
to take a coffee in Starbucks,
and resulted that we've been
very close, so we'll
we're going to the classes
and we're going to do

Now, it's a strange
not to have never

of that come to pass

he says
he wants

many people
with pecs
and with
his hair
so.
I'm
I'm sure
to be

Okay, let's get on with the lesson.
Mark, me have
a lot of the text,
and I want to know
what is the next
what's the next
what you're going to
have to be able to
that's a secret for just now
you'll need to wait
until episode 40.
So what we're going to
tell us
explain us a little
the text in English.
And so you
can you can
understand the
text.
So the protagonist of the
story is Maria
and she's from the
island of
Majorca
in the Mediterranean
However, she's been studying this past year in Edinburgh where she has met Rory.
Now, she's been back in Mallorca for a couple of weeks, and while she was in Edinburgh,
she really did miss her family.
She was actually spending an erasmus year in Edinburgh, and that is when you're studying at
a European university and you do an exchange to another European university for a year.
So she did her erasmus year in Edinburgh.
and she learned many things while she was there,
not only about what she was studying,
which is history of art,
but also about her Scottish teachers and her classmates.
And in addition to studying,
she also had the opportunity to work
as a language assistant in the Centrolorka.
Me surgio the possibility
to give classes as an assistant of Spanish
in the Centrolorka.
And she absolutely loved that.
Not only because she enjoyed teaching,
but she happened to meet a very interesting young man there.
A tall, strong, rather Scottish, yeah,
Peli rojo, rather Scottish looking man, a red-haired man.
And she, well, she got on very well with him.
This young man studied marine biology
and he absolutely loves diving.
He's also passionate about the Spanish language.
He did indeed live a
He did indeed live some time in Argentina.
He did indeed live some time in Argentina.
Now Maria seems to be quite in love with Rory.
She says he's the most beautiful
or the most handsome and interesting guy in the world.
Now Maria talks about how she felt when she first saw him.
In fact, she liked the look of him from the first time she saw him.
In fact, she went as red as a tomato, she says.
Now, Rory explains that his Spanish is very bad,
and of course Maria is very happy to help him with his Spanish.
And in fact, as they get to know each other a little more,
it turns out that they lived very close by.
So they went home from class together.
And resulto that we'd live very close.
So we'll hear more about this love story
as time goes on through our episodes.
So Maria is now back in Major.
and she mentions another person who will become an important person in this story
and that is her favourite aunt Consuelo.
She had coffee with her aunt the previous day
and she was telling her about the story of Rory.
In fact, her aunt was delighted that she's met this nice Scottish young man
and like all aunties, she's already invented this entire story herself.
me
I'm not quite sure if
we're
many
people
we're
not quite
sure if
Maria is
ready for
that yet
but that's
what our
aunt feels
anyway
so there
we have it
an
explanation
of the
text in
English
now this
is where
we say
adios
to our
listeners
who are
using
the
preview
version
of this
episode
we'll
be
continuing
to
discuss
the
episode
in fact
we'll
go
through
every
single
word
in our
extended
version
the
premium
version
of
