Hello to
Hello to coffee brick Spanish
I'm Mark
And I'm sorry, Carmen
How are you?
I'm very well,
very content to be here,
I'm very content to be here
again,
with you know,
and also with our
people,
and also parts of the world.
Yes,
we give us a
all of them.
Perfect.
Well,
here we are again
and we're
still still
this story
of Rory and
Maria and
of Alejandro.
We're just
in the
Capitulo 22, Mark.
Yes, and in this episode, we're going to be taking a look at. As usual, we're going to start by listening to the text. In this case, it's a conversation between Rory and Alejandro. And after that, we will take a look at the meaning of the text. And I'll explain that in English. Sounds good.
We're ready.
Perfect. We're going.
Alexander, how
you go?
Today I'm
I'm going
and then
we went to
go to make
a house
to his
and then
my jeffa
and then
I'm going to
work four
hours.
What day
more ataryado
I'm doing
a book
in the
play
and I'm
taking
mat
about the
sombrilla
and
bañando
in the
play
uh
uh...
Uff,
so I'm
when I'm
my
I'm sure
I'm
like
don't be
I'm
don't
I'm
I'm
a flaco.
Well, and how
you
went with
the
women?
Well,
the
fact I'm
quite quite
very good.
Because Maria
me had
said
that
has been
a
carnet
of the
part of
the
treasure?
In serious?
Or
you're
you're
you're
you're
you're
a
cargown.
He's
ready to
do you
do you
want to
two
things.
First,
your
new
is a
joy
and
second,
your
castell
is
incredible.
Thank
Alejandro.
I've learned
from
the best
and
The reprended of the best.
Yeah, and what did you say to
Maria for that change
of opinion?
Well, no I've
said anything.
She's solita
has taken the
time and he has
said that he
seems that he
seems to be
a lot of
and the more
he does it.
He knows
he can't
come back to
us.
Yeah,
pique,
what suerty
we're sure
that has your
noviour
changing the
thing,
what's the
thing?
Very well. It's a woman
very amiable.
Today, Maria and I
we have explained
that we've got
the cards of
and she
was thought that
had been
because she
was going to
all the
but not
appeared.
So,
so has
had given
a great
to know that
even to know
that's
that we
had said
that we
had to
let us
to come
to make
to make
that they're
sure that
they'd
have made
a lot of
a
food
richism
was
a risot
to chupers
the deados.
It's a
a chiparse
the deados,
no?
Yeah,
champion,
it's
so I'm
like I'm
like you
do you know
to do you
get a lot
and we
know that
we're
a little
a little
little bit
a little
that's
that's
that's
emotion.
Well,
first we
have to
planer well
the
start you
I think
this
this is
a good
day.
We're
three days
to
planifical
it.
I'm
to be
to
if they
do a
day the
day's
well,
what you have
so you're
going to
say a
question
so that's
going to
that's
so in this
episode we're
listening in
on a
conversation
between
Alejandro and
Rory.
As we
join them,
it sounds like
Rory has had
a busy day
spending time
with Maria
having lunch
with her
at Consuelos
House and
then working for
four hours.
On the other
hand,
Alejandro has
been
reading on the beach, enjoying his mate in the shade of the parasol, and swimming in the sea.
Rory jokes that he wants to be like Alejandro when he grows up.
What stress, Alejandro, when he's a major, I'm sure.
Of course, Alejandro objects, reminding Rory that he's on holiday and he does work the rest
of the year. Rory tells him the news that Maria has a boat license and that she wants to
help them with their search for the treasure.
Alejandro can't quite believe their luck and exclaims that Maria is essential.
She's a joya. She's a jewel. However, he's curious as to how Rory managed to convince Maria to change her mind.
Rory's not quite sure of what made Maria change her mind. She seems to have thought better about things.
She still thinks it's dangerous, but she understands that they want to try to find the treasure,
and, since she has access to a boat, it's all turned out for the best.
Alejandro goes on to ask Rory how the lunch with Di Gonsuelo went. Rory explains that he and Maria took the opportunity
to tell Consuelo about the letters they found.
Consuelo had apparently been looking for them,
but hadn't been able to find them.
She was therefore delighted to know
that they still existed,
and she'd tell Maria's parents all about them.
They'd be over the moon to read them again.
Seguro that would be much illusion
to learn.
Okay, we'll be back in just a moment.
As you know, this is a preview episode

Okay, let's get on with the lesson.
Rory also mentions that Consuelo's risotto was to die for,
Or, as you say in Spanish, it made you want to suck your fingers.
It was toulparse de los deads.
Alejandro is very pleased with Rory's report,
and he hopes that they continue on this lucky streak,
and indeed that they find the treasure.
The friends end by discussing the best day to do their dive
and opt for Tuesday.
They'll tell Maria, and hopefully she'll get time off work to help them out.
Let's take a closer look at that last thing that Carmen said there.
In English it would be, I'm sure or undoubtedly, they'll be very excited to read them again.
Seguro, that they'd have much illusion, Volverlas to learn.
Now, we know the word Volver to return, but in this case we're saying to return to read them.
And actually, we say to return them to read, Bolverlas to lear.
Carmen, I've got a question.
Can't say, can't say, too, Volver to learlas?
So that is, totally correct.
Okay.
So we're talking to say,
sure,
that would be
much illusion
to learn to
or,
sure,
that would be sure,
that would be
a lot of
exact.
The two options
are correctas.
Of course,
we're talking here.
The las is
referring to
Las Cartas
that they've found
in the attic.
And the pronoun
there,
the direct object
pronoun,
Las, can go on
to the end
of the main
infinitive,
the layer,
because that's
what they're going
to do,
they're going to
read them,
but it can also in this case
go on to
Volver.
Let's look at this
in a little more detail.
For example,
how would we say
well, in English
we've got the idea
of going back to do something.
We can go back to,
for example,
if I used to study German
and then going back to it,
I could say,
Wulbo to study
Al-Alemann.
That's me now, Mark,
by the way.
Ah, you're
are learning
German?
Yes,
I've
worked to study
Aleman
another way.
So,
to learn a
study
in English
there we're saying
going back to study
but also
it can have the meaning
of simply
studying again
I'm studying German again
I've worked
to study German
Okay
let's think of another
example where perhaps
we're watching
I don't know
watching a film again
so how do you say
give us an example
of Carmen
I'll
go to
a video
that I'm going to
watch a film again
that I'm
I saw many years ago.
Perfect.
Let's hear the Spanish again.
I'll go to
see the Spanish again.
Okay.
Let's complicate this a little
and take out
a pellicula.
And we'll replace
a pellicle with a pronoun.
So the direct object pronoun
for a pellicle would be la.
Of course.
So now we've got two options here.
I'm going to
go back and watch it
or I'm going to watch it again.
Or,
I'm going to
I'll
be
I'm going to
I'll
what is
the version
more natural
for you
For me
those
are naturales
Yeah
depends
of the
time
depends
of the
but
the two
are
the
natural
and
I
don't
I don't
I
don't
I'm
I think
possibly
as a
learner
of Spanish
I would
probably
put the
la
naturally
on the
end
of the
the main
infinitive
in
this
case
Leerla
liarla or berla if we're talking about the film that we're going to see again.
But you've confirmed that it's quite possible to put it on the end of the Volver as well.
Yes.
Let's think of another example.
Perhaps let's put it into a different tense.
Can we have another example maybe in a compound tense and the perfect tense?
Okay, let's see.
I've returned to hear the can't hear the song.
Uh-huh.
So I've gotten to hear the song
to understand the letter
So you've gone back and listened to the song
in order to understand the lyrics.
So I've listened to the song again
or I've gone back and listened to the song
in order to understand the lyrics.
I've got to listen the cancassion
for entendre la letter. Let's do the same again
with our pronoun. Let's replace
the cancion, the cancion,
with a pronoun. So in this case
again, I'm assuming we've got two options.
Well, we've got
But I've
to
listen to
I've
called to
the end of
the
infinitive
and it's
a song
yeah
and also
la
I've
to listen
okay so
the la
can go before
the
I've
a
I've
to listen
yeah
two options
correct
correct
very
very good
that is
where we're
going to
leave our
main
episode
our preview
episode for
