Starting point is 00:01:10 things over to Sebastian, who will tell us a little more about the Fiesta of the Vendymia. Thanks, Mark. Thanks, Annabelle. Today, we are talking about Fiesta of the Vendimia in Argentina. Empecemos. The Fiesta of La Vendimia, also known as Fiesta Mademannes, is a celebration popular that's originor in Argentina, concretely, in the province of Mendoza. His first celebration
Starting point is 00:01:46 took place in the year 1936. Until the year 19886 was celebrions derivated of issues of social-economic, cultural, or
Starting point is 00:01:59 medio-ambiental. But, but from that moment, 1886, was continued celebrating in an interrupated.
Starting point is 00:02:08 The Fiesta of the Vendimia reflects the celebration of the uba converted in and alabba the duro
Starting point is 00:02:15 work that does vignators during the koseches, as like to the other people
Starting point is 00:02:21 that form part of the important process of the work
Starting point is 00:02:26 of the bodegas or the laboratories that are that the
Starting point is 00:02:29 fabrication. This fiesta consta four parts. The Bendition of the fruits, the Via
Starting point is 00:02:37 Blanca of the Reynas, the Carousel, and the Acto Central,
Starting point is 00:02:42 which is the most important and representative. This ultimate is a reclame
Starting point is 00:02:48 of international and has a celebration grandiosa. The place in
Starting point is 00:02:53 which has the great event is the Teatro Greek Frank
Starting point is 00:02:57 Romeo Day. In it, it's a spectacle artistic of the
Starting point is 00:03:02 light and a lot of many ballerines, other of famous actors locales.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Previally to this day, they celebrate festejos in the different departments.
Starting point is 00:03:16 In each one of them, it's a reina departmental that then then
Starting point is 00:03:20 later for the coroner national. An data more. You know, you're 2011, the National Geographic
Starting point is 00:03:30 declared a the Fiesta of the Vendymia as the Second Fiesta Most Most Most Most The Cacheca most The Famousa Action of Grasias Thanksgiving. You anima's to visitar it? Very well, then we're
Starting point is 00:03:51 to re-leer the text and to talk a bit of the grammatica, of the vocabulary and all the language that there. Stupendombe. We're going.
Starting point is 00:04:01 The Fiesta of the Vendimia also known as a Fiesta of the Mendocino is a celebration
Starting point is 00:04:09 popular that's originally in Argentina in the province of Mendoza Okay
Starting point is 00:04:16 so the Fiesta of the Bendimia So Bendimia is the Wayne Harvest
Starting point is 00:04:23 Yes Okay also known as Fiesta Madre of the
Starting point is 00:04:28 Mendoci is also known as the Mother Fife festival, the main festival
Starting point is 00:04:35 de los Mendocinos. Los Mendocinos are the people from Mendoza or Mendoza. It seems strange to say Mendoza when we're talking about Argentina because that would obviously be Mendoza in Argentina as Sebastian read it.
Starting point is 00:04:49 You would say Mendoza. Yes, I would say Mendoza. Fair does. So it is, it's a celebration, it's a popular celebration, that's a originate in Argentina, which originated in
Starting point is 00:05:01 Argentina, concretely in the province of Mendoza, principally or specifically in the province of Mendoza, Mendoza. His first celebration took in the year 1936. Until the year 1986,
Starting point is 00:05:19 he celebrated with interruptions derived of issues, socio-economics, cultural or environmental. But from that moment, 1998
Starting point is 00:05:31 was he continued celebrating in interrupated Okay, quite technical information there we have some
Starting point is 00:05:38 dates again see if you can spot these days its first celebration took place in the year in the year 1936
Starting point is 00:05:51 that is 1936 until the year 1886 until the year 1980s until the year 1980.
Starting point is 00:05:59 86, se celebros unterruptions. It was celebrated with interruptions. So some years it was celebrated, some years it wasn't. And these interruptions were derivas de as a result of, or they derived from political issues
Starting point is 00:06:18 on asuntos socio-economic issues, cultural or medio-ambentales. So they were also cultural or environmental issues. But from that moment, since then, 1986, she continued celebrating, it continued celebrating, or being celebrated,
Starting point is 00:06:45 in an uninterrupted way without interruption. We got there eventually. The Fiesta of the Bendimia Refleja the celebration of the Ova converted in Vino and alaba the duro-trable the winiateros during the
Starting point is 00:07:05 Cosechas. Right. So, the Fiesta of the Vendymnia, the Festival of the Vendymia, reflect the celebration of the grapes. The uva is the singular in Spanish, but referring it kind of represents the grapes, converted in Vino turned into wine.
Starting point is 00:07:27 So we've got lauba converted in vina. Grape turned into wine. And alava, so that's alabar to praise. So alava elava eliza eliza the hard work that realizan los piniateros.
Starting point is 00:07:42 So a little swap round of subject and verb here, which realizan los bignateros which the wine growers realize or which they do. during the and bianteros is a word that it's only used in Argentina and Chile
Starting point is 00:08:01 that I didn't know in the rest of the countries then it's used biticultor but bigniatoro in Argentina and Chile then yeah but to be honest I think that biantero is easier to understand in all the countries than viticultur but it's the word that it's used okay good to know
Starting point is 00:08:22 as as the other people that form part of the important
Starting point is 00:08:27 process of the work the work or the laboratories
Starting point is 00:08:33 or the laboratories that are the continuation of this sentence so not only does
Starting point is 00:08:39 it celebrate or praise the hard work of the wine growers or the winegrors
Starting point is 00:08:44 rather the wine growers as as well as the other people as well as
Starting point is 00:08:50 the other people who formant part, who form part or who are part, of the important process of preparing the wine, the preparation of the wine, the preparation of the veneau, like the workers in the cellars, or the laboratories,
Starting point is 00:09:12 that help with its fabrication, with its making, who helped to make it. Okay, so far we've learned a little about the Fiesta de la Vendemia and the why it's celebrated. We're going to find out more about what actually happens at the festival after the break. Let's find out more about this important festival. This fiesta consists of four parts. The Bendition of the Fruits, the Bia Blanca of the Reinas, the carousel and the acto central,
Starting point is 00:10:37 which is the most important and representatio. Okay. This fiesta consta. So this festival consists. Consta de four parts. It consists of four parts. And earlier or in another episode, we saw consistir in.
Starting point is 00:10:55 So that would be consist of, but here we've got constar de. Is there a difference between consistir and constar? Actually, they are like, the same and we can use both. The only thing that we need to keep in mind is that the conjugation is a little bit different because it's constar and
Starting point is 00:11:11 consist and then the proposition. Yes, so an ER verb with constar and then an IR verb with consistir and as you said is constar de the preposition we use de and the en in consistir. Okay, so it consists of four parts.
Starting point is 00:11:27 La Bendition de los Fruitos, that's the blessing of the fruit. La Via Blanca de las Reinas, the White Way of the Queens, the Carousel, the Carousel, and the Acto Central Act, which is the most important and the most representative. This one is a reclamo of interest international
Starting point is 00:11:50 and has a celebration grandiosa. Okay, so this last one, this acto central, is a reclamo. It's a claim of interest international, international interest and it has a grandiose celebration. Let's come back to Esun Reclamo de Interest International.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Can you help us with this? So, um, something that people want, that they want to get. So it's, um, like to get again. Uh-huh. So that's why we have like that reen,
Starting point is 00:12:28 reclamo. Okay. So am I right in thinking that for example if, um, let's, say a theme park launched a new roller coaster. They had this fabulous new roller coaster. And is this the reclamo that makes people want to come to visit that particular attraction? Yes, that's exactly it. Okay. So in this case, it's perhaps a lure for people to come from all countries. It's a claim of international interest. It's a bad translation. But it lures people to come
Starting point is 00:13:03 from other countries and it's a grandiose celebration. Yeah, we got there eventually. Good. Okay, let's continue. The place in the place this grand event is the theater Greek Frank Romeo Day.
Starting point is 00:13:18 And in it, it's a spectacle artistical artistic of light and sound in which participates more of 1,000 ballarines, also of famous actors locales.
Starting point is 00:13:30 All right. So this is our central act, is the acto central. And the place in in which, the venue in which this place, this event
Starting point is 00:13:42 takes place, and it's funny because the place in your place, in Spanish, the place in which it takes place, this great event,
Starting point is 00:13:52 this great event, is the Teatro Greek-Grigo, Frank Romeo-Dey. So it's the Greek theater, the Frank Romeo-Dade Greek theater. In him,
Starting point is 00:14:00 it's a spectacle, a spectacle artistic of light of sound in which an artistic spectacle
Starting point is 00:14:07 of light and sound is presented in the in which participate more of many
Starting point is 00:14:15 thousand dancers perform or take part and the famous actors local
Starting point is 00:14:23 as well as famous local actors previously previously a day
Starting point is 00:14:28 are celebrate festejos locales in the different departments. In
Starting point is 00:14:33 each one of them is a reigning a reina departmental that then will
Starting point is 00:14:38 compete for the coroner national. Okay, so previously to this day,
Starting point is 00:14:44 prior to the day, so before we get to the final day, so celebrate festejos
Starting point is 00:14:52 local celebrations are held in the different departments. and the various departments and the various geographical regions.
Starting point is 00:15:02 In each one of which is a one of which, a one of which a reina departmental, in each one of which a departmental or a local queen is elected, that then
Starting point is 00:15:18 will compete for the corona national, who later will go on to compete for the national crown. Emotionante, exciting, isn't it? One more date or one more fact? One more fact, I would say, yeah, or more information.
Starting point is 00:15:38 And this is a pool of information, really interesting. Sabians that in 2011, the National Geographic declared to the Fiesta of the Vendymia as the second fiesta of the most important of the world. Wow, okay. So, did you know that? In 2011, in 2011, the National Geographic declared the National Geographic declared the
Starting point is 00:16:07 Fiesta the Fiesta of the Most Important as the second most important harvest festival in the world. Sieno, the first, the famous action of gracias, Thanksgiving. So with the first one being, as in the most important festival of harvest being, La Famosa Accion de Gracias, the famous Thanksgiving festival. Te animas to visitarla. So we're back to the Fiesta de la Vendemia now. Do you fancy going to visit it? Are you ready?
Starting point is 00:16:45 Are you up for a visit? Te anima to visitla? Well, I see. I'm too. Okay. So let's listen again to the whole text. and hopefully this time you'll understand everything now that we've gone through the text together.
Starting point is 00:16:57 The Fiesta of the Vendymia, also known as Fiesta Maddoin, is a celebration popular that's originor in Argentina, concretely, in the province of Mendoza. His first celebration took place in the year, 1936.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Until the year, 19886, was celebrated of ascuntos political, socioeconomic, cultural, or medio-ambientals. But, from that moment, 1996, was continued celebrating in-interrupted. The Fiesta of the Vendymia
Starting point is 00:17:35 Refleja the Celebration of the Uva converted in Vino and alaba the Dura Worker that realizes the winiateros during the cosechas, as as as the other people that form part of the important process of preparation of
Starting point is 00:17:50 the wine, like the workers of the bodegas or the laboratories that are their
Starting point is 00:17:55 fabrication. This fiesta consted of four parts. The Bendition
Starting point is 00:18:01 of the fruits, the Bia Blanca of the Reynas, the Carousel
Starting point is 00:18:06 and the Acto Central, which is the most important and
Starting point is 00:18:10 representative. This ultimate is a reclame of interest international
Starting point is 00:18:15 and has a celebration grandiosa. The place in the place this grand event is the theater Greek Frank Romeo Day. In it, it's a spectacle artistic of light and sound
Starting point is 00:18:28 in the the music and they participate more than mil ballerines, other of famous actors locales. Previally to this day, we celebrate festejos locales
Starting point is 00:18:39 in the different departments. In each one of them, is a reina departmental
Starting point is 00:18:45 that will be a coroner national. Emotionate, right? One that's
Starting point is 00:18:52 that in 2011, the National Geographic declared to the Fiesta of the
Starting point is 00:18:57 Vendimia as a second the first of the Ccecha most important
Starting point is 00:19:01 of the world, being the first, the famous action
Starting point is 00:19:04 of Grasies Thanksgiving. You Animus to visit the
Starting point is 00:19:08 Okay, we've been talking about wine in this episode And we're going to be joined now by Marina.
Starting point is 00:19:21 Hello, Marina. Do you like the wine? Yes, me much, the wine. And to me also. But, we're going to be a expression related to
Starting point is 00:19:31 the wine, no? Yes, the expression of today is ni-arto of wine. Okay, so not even fed up with wine. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:43 I think we need a little bit of an explanation as to how this works. What does this mean this expression? Okay. It has a significant
Starting point is 00:19:51 quite literal because if when when someone is a lot of is that has been much wine
Starting point is 00:19:59 for what we're that we're bornish. Okay, so if you're a lot of wine,
Starting point is 00:20:06 it means that you've drunk a lot of wine and therefore you're probably a little bit tipsy. So when
Starting point is 00:20:13 we say that when we're a little bit tipsy we're not very aware of what we do not we're doing
Starting point is 00:20:20 of our actions if we're not we're not
Starting point is 00:20:25 we're not or not enough or not that
Starting point is 00:20:31 we're that we're that we wouldn't even do that
Starting point is 00:20:35 even if you were drunk that kind of idea yeah that's it so we are like
Starting point is 00:20:40 saying no no no I'm not doing that not even drunk okay
Starting point is 00:20:45 so I would never do such a thing not even if I were drunk and not in control of my actions, that kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:20:52 So, ni aato de vino. Is it always vino? Well, there are loads of different things. You could even say, no area eso, ni barracho, or ni arto de whiskey. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:05 So, no, I wouldn't even do that drunk. I wouldn't even do that if we were drunk on whiskey. What else? Yeah, if, imagine if you came to Andalusia, because here we are like very expressive, we would say niharto vino
Starting point is 00:21:20 ni harto vino so harto is an Andalusian version of Arto yeah
Starting point is 00:21:26 love it okay ni harto vino and all the time here we're using a conditional
Starting point is 00:21:31 no a conditional so it's just ending a ria no would not iria
Starting point is 00:21:38 any art of bino ni art of bisch if we're in Andalusia yeah
Starting point is 00:21:46 and you could say something like No, not even as a joke. Not even joking, I would do that. So when you're very sure you're not doing a thing, there are some different expressions you can use in Spanish.
Starting point is 00:22:01 Can you give us an example in a sentence then? Let's, for example, we can say, my brother, me have invited to do paracadism. But he said, that I don't do that, Okay, so my brother invited me to go skydiving, paracaidism. But I told them that I am not doing that. Ni arta de vino, not even if I were drunk.
Starting point is 00:22:32 And you've used a present tense there. No, I'm not doing that even drunk. Yeah, I've used the present tense. You could say you could use a conditional as well, but I am so sure I am not doing that that I can tell you in the present tense I am not doing it. And are you paracadism, too?
Starting point is 00:22:55 No. No. No art of wine. No, well, thanks, Marina, and, well,
Starting point is 00:23:03 we're going to be, Mark, thanks to you. Well, yeah is, Annabel. Much thanks. It has been
Starting point is 00:23:10 very interesting. So, much thanks to Marina, to Sebastian, a Tis and to our our A lot of our
Starting point is 00:23:15 A lot of we'll be back next time with more another geographical trip next time we're going to
