Hello to all allos and bienveniles
a coffee break Spanish.
This is Mark from Coffee Break Spanish
and I thought it would be useful
to tell you a little
about how Coffee Break Spanish
Season 4 is going to work.
As we've already mentioned,
the series follows a story
and this story features two main characters,
Maria and Rory.
Now, those of you who are familiar
with Showtime Spanish
or Coffee Break Spanish Season 3
and met Alba
through Coffee Break Spanish Season 3,
you'll be delighted to know
that
Alba returns in the character of Maria.
So we'll be listening to Alba playing Maria and well, Rory, Rory is a Scottish person, Maria's boyfriend,
and so it's my job to play Rory.
There are other characters in the story too.
We'll be meeting Alejandro, who is from Argentina and also other members of Maria's family,
but you'll hear more about that as time goes on.
So each episode focuses on one chapter of the story.
Sometimes that's a conversation between Maria and Rory.
Sometimes it's an email that Maria has written to Rory or Rory has replied to Maria.
And sometimes it's a letter.
Again, you'll hear more about this.
I don't want to give too much away,
but each time there will be some kind of text
and we'll be listening to a spoken version of that text.
Now, the texts have been written in such a way that they are obviously telling the story,
but they also contain lots of interesting language.
So we've got complex grammar points,
we've got very exciting idiomatic expressions,
and we've also got some vocabulary
that may well be new to you.
And in each episode,
I'll be joined by a new member of the Coffee Break Spanish team, Carmen.
Carmen is from Cuenca in Spain,
and together we'll be talking about
all those tricky grammatical points
and the interesting vocabulary.
Of course, we'll be using a lot of Spanish,
but we'll also be talking in English and giving plenty of Spanish examples.
If you're listening to this audio recording,
then you are perhaps subscribed to the Coffee Break Spanish feed on iTunes or in your podcast's app,
and you've picked it up automatically,
or perhaps you're listening on SoundCloud or on the website.
Now, we'll be publishing a preview episode in each of these places,
so on iTunes, on your podcasts app, or indeed on SoundCloud or on the website,
and the preview episode will include the text of the particular chapter of the story,
so that email or the phone call or the discussion or whatever.
And I'll then give an English summary of that text to help you understand.
So that's the preview episode, and it will last around four or five minutes.
The full episode will be near the 30 minute mark,
and in that episode we'll be talking in great detail about all the grammar used,
all these idiomatic expressions and so on,
and we'll be giving you further examples
and testing you on your understanding.
So that full episode is part of our premium materials
for Coffee Break Spanish Season 4,
and in addition to the full episode,
we'll provide a transcript.
We will be speaking in Spanish much of the time,
so the transcript will help you understand exactly what we've said.
So the premium materials are the full episode, the transcript,
but also we'll be providing an additional audio episode,
and this will test you on your translation skills.
We'll take some of the grammar points and the idiomatic expressions from the text
and then give you some phrases to translate into Spanish based on what you've learned.
We'll be starting Coffee Break Spanish Season 4 on the 28th of January 2015.
If you're listening to this at some point in the future,
then you can head over to Coffee Break Spanish Season 4.com
and you'll see all the episodes that we've published there.
But if you're listening as we record this in January 2015,
then you can look forward to the show starting very soon.
We'll be publishing episodes on a fortnightly basis in blocks of five,
and that matches the 10-week blocks of some of our other shows
that are currently about to be released.
The full publication schedule will be released on the 28th of January.
