Coffee Convos with Kail Lowry and Lindsie Chrisley - 134: Our Dream Collab, Lunchbox Hacks, and Real or Scam

Episode Date: December 10, 2020

On this week's episode of Coffee Convos, Kail and Lindsie revisit some favorite childhood items. They realize that Lisa Frank would be an absolute dream collab, but debate whether or not Lisa Frank is... a real name or a pseudonym. Then, the quest to figure out how to change up their kids school lunches continue. Have they come up with a new strategy involving thermoses? Only time will tell! And Kail and Lindsie discuss an upsetting story they were made aware of last week, and Lindsie may or may not have been sent a link to the dark web. Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys welcome to another episode of coffee combos podcast good morning how has your morning been um well let's see I started off with probably not I started off with therapy and I was crying and I'm just like I feel like it's not just me so I don't want to feel like you know you know this is just me I think a lot of us are struggling with so much shit right now and you know I I don't know like I just I want to do the right thing all the time and I want to be a better person and I want to make the right choice and I just feel like every time I try something else in my life fails that's not connected to it does
Starting point is 00:00:53 that make sense yes actually it's so funny that you say that because normally I don't I try to reserve like Friday through Sunday is like family days right and yeah for whatever reason this past week I worked 13 hours on Friday and so that just obviously didn't go as planned but I normally have therapy on Fridays at 9 and so I had to move it to Saturday and I literally had that same conversation with my therapist on Saturday and she told me that basically I have a problem of trying to be everything for everyone does that make sense and like oh a hundred percent yeah I always try to think of other people nine times
Starting point is 00:01:43 out of ten I think of other people their reactions and their feelings before I think about my own in a situation and so yeah I think that a lot of people are going through this same thing and I don't know if it's the time of the year I don't know if it's because we've literally been like quarantine slash semi-quarantine for like almost all of 2020 or what is going on but I I like feel it in the air I definitely okay I'm kind of unrelated but sort of not I like that you do therapy on Fridays because I feel like even though a lot can happen over the weekend like the work week is so stressful especially with
Starting point is 00:02:23 like kids and virtual learning and sports during the week and all of that I feel like Friday sounds like a really good day like to talk to your therapist about like everything that kind of went on for the week does that make sense yeah it's like a closure of the week like yeah yeah and then secondly to your point of just like not knowing what's going on I think I think we're all going through it especially now and I I will say that I've the more conversations I have with people now more people are openly talking about being in therapy and I do think that it has to do with like the the quarantining COVID semi quarantine
Starting point is 00:03:04 semi quarantining like you said I think that has a lot to do with it so I don't know I think cheers to all of us in therapy trying to get our shit together but I totally feel you and I hear you a hundred percent on on everything you just said well in lighter news can we talk about how every time I know that you are changing your batteries on your recording device and I was changing mine to every time I go to change batteries to stuff I don't know what is wrong with me I'll take the batteries out of something and then get the batteries mixed up with the new ones like every time okay that didn't happen to me
Starting point is 00:03:46 because I opened a new pack of batteries but I started recording from my office space and I had batteries here last week or the week before and I bought them because Redner's is across the street and I filmed in here and next thing you know the the brand new batteries that I bought and put on the table are no longer there so I had to go get new batteries this morning from Redner's and batteries are not cheap I know batteries are so expensive we went to Kroger a couple of weeks ago and Will was like I can't remember if it was like Duracell or what it was but he was like he must be on crack like if they
Starting point is 00:04:25 honestly I think it's $16 for like 10 AA batteries and I'm like what the hell I don't know have they always been this I don't remember and then it's like all the people this is a reminder for everyone who is buying toys for their kids for Christmas that require batteries to buy the batteries also there's like nothing worse than getting your kid a toy at Christmas and it needing batteries and you not having the type of batteries that you need oh that's literally the war I mean I went to go change the batteries of my smoke detectors that everyone else is complaining about and I realized that
Starting point is 00:05:01 they take a special certain kind of battery they take like a 9 volt battery they don't take like regular AA batteries so can can we talk about that for a second is it just that house with the smoke detectors or is it everywhere that you go no it's just that house they're fixed now my other house had like not Wi-Fi smoke detectors but my security system was built in together with my carbon monoxide and my smoke detectors so they never beeped like that when if I needed a change like that's just like not how it went yes this house for some reason the smoke detectors are forever going off always at that house and I'm
Starting point is 00:05:43 just like what is going on like what is happening oh wait I was I don't know what made me I think that house is what made me think of this but somebody was telling me about how they loved Bath & Body Works candles the other day and I was like yeah they like kind of smell good and stuff and I was like but I think I'm kind of like off that train since I almost let my friend's house on fire how did it come up in conversation for you and it also came up in conversation for me because they had their 999 sale or their 995 sale and I'm like I love them so much but I am absolutely terrified even though it's
Starting point is 00:06:25 crazy too because thankfully I was home you know what I'm saying like could you imagine that I like forgot that I left a candle on and it like blew up like that and I you know I wonder what would have happened if I finished the conversation with the company because I did email them telling them what happened but I never finished the conversation so I don't know like do you think they would have given me free Bath & Body Works candles for life or like what do you think would have happened I mean possibly but also I don't just I don't know if that's like repair the fact that your house was like going in
Starting point is 00:07:00 flames yeah literally if it was like an inch from the curtain had it been a little bit closer my entire house would have been engulfed in flames so and that's one of my worst fears is like fire oh me too like literally I get so afraid I don't like cooking things like in the house that calls that would like cause like a lot of smoke like if for example like if will wanted to make like a steak or hamburgers or something like on the stove and it's causing like a lot of smoke I act like I've been in a house fire or something before but it's literally like a major trigger for me and I'm just like oh my god the fucking
Starting point is 00:07:38 place is lighting on fire and it's like the sound like the things going off I just I don't know it's so it's so scary and it's one of my biggest fears one thing that is not my biggest fear that I'm looking at right now though is this lip smackers lip chapstick that I got and it brings me back to first grade lip smackers I can't yeah um did they do like a relaunch or something or have they always been around let me look it up I'm gonna Google because I remember them like being super like cheap are they any better um I'm obsessed and then will try to kiss me and he was like oh that smells good like what's on your
Starting point is 00:08:22 lip and I'm like gross like I wore this when I was in first grade get the fuck out get the fuck out I'm looking right now look okay let's see okay so it's still pretty like cheap it's like for kids right yeah I mean honestly like I would purchase it for myself okay okay well they have a Crayola line if you're interested a Crayola yeah it's like every 12 piece Crayola lip balm vault and then they don't understand like that was me and my childhood kill like I was the type of kid that wanted like all the collections of everything like things that I was obsessed with so it's like if there was a special pack of Lisa Frank
Starting point is 00:09:05 folders or like a variety pack I remember when lip smackers did the variety pack where they had like coca-cola Dr. Pepper seven up like they had all the different flavors like I had to have them yes do you remember definitely yes I remember this soda flavored ones I think I have the Dr. Pepper one but I like looking back like thinking about my childhood I don't know where the rest of them went so I don't know how I even ended up with the Dr. Pepper one you probably like got it from your best friend's house probably or I don't know yeah it definitely my mom never like bought it for me so I don't know where
Starting point is 00:09:49 I got it for like maybe it was given to me I don't really know I'm on the Lisa Frank website right now because I wanted to see I know they did like the collection of with Morphe Morphe or whatever that we talked about last time yes but I didn't know if they had like other things because I know like remember we talked about when they did that like that pop-up hotel or whatever yes and then now they're doing like the Morphe situation so I wonder if they're just doing like random collabs like should we write them a letter saying that they need to collab with coffee combos or like what does that look like I was about
Starting point is 00:10:22 to be like when you said you were on the website I was gonna say can you please find their PR contact for me so that I can contact them after we finish recording but I'm serious like if anybody has any connections to Lisa Frank corporate or anybody who's listening is part of Lisa Frank corporate and you guys are looking to do collabs then we are your gals like we are the 90s we could do so much Lisa Frank stuff like you don't understand I had got tumblers mugs all of it I had gotten a package the other day and it had this lip smack it from a brand and it had this lip smackers and then like a Lisa
Starting point is 00:11:04 Frank sticker pack and I was like oh my god are they listening to the podcast and just know that I love lip smackers and Lisa Frank or did they just collab with you I'm gonna send you like a Lisa Frank hoodie and then maybe if we and if you post it and tag it on the podcast page yeah like be like oh wow like you know is Lisa alive definitely oh wow I didn't even think is do you think Lisa Frank is like the her name like the person who created it or do you think that's like an alias and because like Alicia Keys that's not her real name right oh can we talk about that actually like when did state no not Alicia
Starting point is 00:11:49 Keys specifically but like when did stage names like become a thing and I think they've always been a thing like is post Malone a stage name yes his he actually told the story about his stage name so he was like when he was getting into music or whatever he didn't know what to call himself his name is Austin post so he like put it into like a rap name generator online and it came up post Malone and he was like oh wow I love that and he became post Malone oh my gosh that is so cool I mean like the fact that I if I were to ever have another son I think I would name him like his middle name would probably be
Starting point is 00:12:35 like Malone I'm dead or like Austin with two ends wasn't Isaac named after Hanson yeah oh 100% I love that and then you're gonna name one Austin or Malone we're just unsure whenever the next one is I know if ever but yeah oh my gosh wait can you give us a follow-up did you go to the doctor did you call your OB like what's happening I I did not I I got sidetracked which I actually I need to do that it's no one gets sidetracked about something like that other than a person like you yeah and you know what I'm pretty sure I bled through my clothes as I was recording that podcast I but I got a
Starting point is 00:13:32 shit ton of messages and even like my friend Amy messaged me and told me like what went on with her mom and I was like oh wow like this is obviously something that should be looked into but like I said before like my fear is that they're gonna tell me to get on birth control and not look into the deeper issue so I do need to get in there I also I love my doctor's office but he is the only doctor in there and so it is kind of hard to get into but I don't want to go to anybody else so I just I really do need to actually they're closed on Wednesday so I should definitely call today yeah you should
Starting point is 00:14:05 definitely call it's so like so crazy how many people actually do experience similar issues when we talk about stuff like this because the amount of messages that we got was a lot of messages and it was crazy too because there was like things all across the board like it could be this right this it could be this you know so I don't know the one thing that that like scared me that I saw was endometriosis and someone like said that they were like forced to basically get a hysterectomy to solve the problem so I'm like oh my god and how do you feel about that like if you had to do that because I mean
Starting point is 00:14:50 that's it that would be to me that is such a big deal even though you do already have four kids yeah I mean but I think to your point I you know I do already have four kids and I think that it could go either way for me at this point whether it would be to have more kids or not but ultimately you know what I discussed with my doctor was what I discussed with my doctor was that you know we both decided that I'm still young enough that I could meet somebody and be with them for the rest of my life and maybe we want to have kids together where I'm I'm still of childbearing age so it would be
Starting point is 00:15:30 devastating to me however that being said if I had to do it I do have four kids so I would be blessed in that aspect but there was a lot of health issues that people had submitted to me that was kind of concerning and it almost makes me not want to call because I you know what I don't know won't hurt me kind of thing so I know that's super it can be very selfish but I also it's it's scary and endometriosis I don't I don't know a whole lot so please forgive my ignorance on this but I don't know a whole lot about it I have not done a whole lot of research on it it would scare me because what I do know
Starting point is 00:16:06 or what I've heard at least is that like it's really hard to like have kids and it's painful and it causes other issues and so that is terrifying I know all the other like serious health things that people were writing in talking about I was like oh my gosh but then I also saw some like more non-serious ones that we're saying that it could be that you need to have your doctor to check because whenever you gave birth the last time it could be like everything's not out so okay I don't know I mean that's to me that's like worth looking into just because of the process that you went through doing the home birth right you
Starting point is 00:16:49 know that could be a thing legitimately so I don't know but you'll have to keep us updated and let us know I will keep you guys posted on all of this what happens yeah so anyhow well have your kids been doing good in school so I don't know yes they have been doing very well in school I actually just got on and ordered like they were they sent like a flyer home for a virtual scholastic book fair since obviously they weren't doing them in person so I got on remember a couple weeks back when we talked about Lincoln's parent-teacher conference and getting books that he's interested in so I wanted to make that a
Starting point is 00:17:29 point to get him books because I have a shit ton of books at home but I don't have like specific ones to sports or the ones that he would be interested in so I made sure to get some of those that's so good I know I saw his little picture video or whatever that Javi had posted about him practicing are they going to like the championship or something yes they go to the championship this Sunday this Saturday and I can't even tell you how fucking excited he is like I and it's just so cute to see how invested Lincoln is in football and like I don't know I just I love to see it whether it would be the you know sports or anything
Starting point is 00:18:09 else I just and that's what I told Isaac I said I really want to get you into something that you love I said it doesn't have to be sports because he's just like not a sports kid it just sucks because in COVID I feel like there's there's already not that many options for unsport related things and so then you put COVID on top of it and it's like it's even further I know well lessening lessening the options to your first point about Lincoln being so dedicated to it it does I it makes you feel good as a parent to know like oh wow I raised a child that has the ability to be that dedicated to something and it's like a
Starting point is 00:18:47 good yes feeling you know as I've said before we've struggled with baseball but I think it was like a power struggle will wanted him to do it so bad and wants him to be so good at it and Jackson wants to do like the total opposite thing but now he's kind of like coming around to it as he's gotten a little bit older and and he asked to go to the ballpark now so it does just feel good that it's not a struggle and it's just like okay wow like he's finally getting it and he's dedicated and I don't know there's just something about seeing that commitment in your kid that's what that's what you said dedicated and I
Starting point is 00:19:29 think that's like what I want to see in my kids is like just them really investing their time and their energy into something that they feel good about because that obviously you know I struggle with it myself as an adult is like really fully investing myself into something without getting bored sometimes like I try to get into like a hobby or just something like I can only read on a plane because I can't commit to it anywhere else it's like something like that like something so small but you dedication you know like therapy yes like yes therapy is like yes it's funny that you say that too because my
Starting point is 00:20:10 therapist was telling me that I needed to make a list of priorities that sometimes us as moms that we just get like in the cycle of life that we lose what our priorities are because they become like your kids priorities and you know whoever you're with like whether it be a dating relationship or a marriage or whatever it's like all of those priorities usually line up first before your priorities and it's just important to like make things a priority for yourself too and it's okay to be a little bit selfish and some aspects of your life and so that's something that I'm also working on because like you said
Starting point is 00:20:54 you know you'll get like invested in a book or reading and it's like okay well I'm bored of doing this and then you move on to something else and I was saying to her that used to one of my favorite things to do was to go and have my nails done and it was like something I genuinely looked forward to it was like a treat and just like a relaxation time and now it's kind of like okay well I make the appointment that fits in my schedule and then I rush over there and I have my nails done and it's like I rush out and I've been doing emails or whatever the whole time that I've been in there so I'm like okay well I'm gonna
Starting point is 00:21:36 start making it a priority to like make that something that I enjoy again instead of doing it as like a necessity right yeah like a chore do you feel like that ever like things that you used to enjoy that used to be like my one thing I've always said it even on the podcast I said like hair and makeup I don't always do but I always would have my nails done and through like quarantine and COVID and all of that I just like definitely haven't been able to keep up and it used to be something that I really liked and now it's like I'm scrambling just to have that hour to myself for like relaxation like you were saying yeah and
Starting point is 00:22:15 so I think going in looking into the 2021 year because we're pretty much almost there making a schedule and sticking to it and making certain things that are a priority for me like making those things happen are a priority for me and to the new year and so I think for everyone who's listening that it's okay to sometimes be a little bit selfish with your time and taking care of yourself because it is so true that if you are not full you can't fill somebody else's cup right like and that has been a hard thing for me and I know how you are with your kids too but I want to be like everything for Jackson right it's
Starting point is 00:23:06 like his personal chef his laundress his you know like all of the things right and sometimes and maybe you don't have this issue with your kids because you don't have only children but I tell him I'm like honey mommy never has a break like from the time that I wake up you are also up and then until I close my eyes you don't shut up until you think that I'm like yes that's literally Lux it's I cannot even tell you like he doesn't have to be an only child to relate like Lux is the equivalent of five children he when his feet hit the floor in the morning and he hits the ground running all day until 9 p.m. why are they
Starting point is 00:24:00 like that and then is it is it just constant like I can send I don't I don't know if Lux is still sleeping with you or in his room now but I can send Jackson to his room and it's like okay it's bedtime you need to do you know brush your teeth go and pick out your book turn your lamp on get in your bed quiet time he'll come out of his room six different times to ask me questions and it's like okay I'm more exhausted by you doing that than you just being out of the damn room Lux will say my name a hundred times in a row if I don't answer him in point two seconds and then his newest thing is asking me a question 100 times even when
Starting point is 00:24:41 I answer him so he'll be like mom am I going to school today and I'm like no not right now like you're going later mom am I not going to school today yes you are but not right now like or am I am I gonna go to school later yes I've already answered this question 12 different times a hundred times like what do you want from me oh my god he's at that point you're just like put on whatever clothes you feel are appropriate and please go and strap yourself in the car seat because yeah you're going to school I know and I literally think that he needs it more than I do like he needs to be with
Starting point is 00:25:23 little people his age and then he'll be like well why why do I have to go to school well because you're gonna learn and you're gonna be with other friends well I don't want to be with other friends and I'm like well this morning it was our brothers going to school yes they're gonna go to school even though I don't have them this week they're with their dads I'm like yeah they're they're they're learning today yes they're learning and you're also learning I can promise you but you're not learning with me today right get the hell out yeah oh my god so wait when he goes to school what are his hours like is he
Starting point is 00:25:59 just like three hours or what is it the program is three hours from nine to 12 and then I usually just because I get the other kids at three I just he goes to extended care yes so he'll take a nap there and then I pick him up he literally naps right he'll eat lunch after the 12 when like the other kids leave and then naps and then I get that two extra hours to get stuff done appointments whatever and then when I pick up Lincoln and Isaac I also go get lux just because it doesn't make sense for me to like drop him off do what I got to do for two and a half hours go pick him up go home or go wherever and then go get
Starting point is 00:26:40 the other kids as I just make it easy and just get them all at one time we've talked about this I feel like on the podcast before but the preschool life and the hours is just not cut out for the working parent right it's like at all and I don't want to I never wanted to put Jackson in priest in daycare and so because it just wasn't required like I didn't feel like I had enough like other things going on that would justify me putting you know him in daycare every day and then I also wanted him to be on a consistent schedule so it's like I didn't want to use daycare also is like okay well I'll pay for however many days
Starting point is 00:27:21 of the month like I'm paying for the whole month but you're only going three times like that's also dumb so yeah we did the three hour preschool but our preschool didn't offer the extended care so it's literally like by the time I would get back home or get grocery shopping done or maybe I went to the gym it was time to pick up again and I always felt like I was on his his whole pre-school years I felt like I was always on the road or sitting in the car line I just don't know what people we've talked about this before but like I don't
Starting point is 00:28:06 understand what parents who can't get off at 12 what they do it's like I guess they go to daycare I guess like the kids which is separate but I wonder what do they learn the same things that they do in like pre-school or is it just like all the same you know I don't know the answer to that because we've never done it you know so I really I would be interested to know parents who have their kids in daycare which I'm sure is a huge majority of people what it's like is there a curriculum is it you know basically just do whatever the hell you want I don't know that would be interesting oh speaking of school so a
Starting point is 00:28:49 mom wrote me something that I never thought about putting in the lunchbox I never thought about doing like cucumbers and carrots with like ranch or like a dip have you ever thought about doing that no I thought it was a good idea though I mean if your kid if your kid like vegetables Jackson likes anything dipped in ranch so I'm like that's a good alternative right or you could do like hummus I don't think that my kids would eat hummus but for sure the carrots and ranch yeah I'm like okay well that's a good idea and then somebody else wrote in and said that they do like the marshmallow fluff with
Starting point is 00:29:31 jelly instead of peanut butter and jelly and even though it's not like a super healthy option at least it's an option it'll change it up it's an option yeah I mean are you pretty consistent with like what you put in every day or do you like to make it different every day so I kind of make it different by the week so he always eats school lunch on Fridays because he loves to get cheeseburgers at the school and I'm just like you know what whatever like it's just not a fight that I'm willing to fight anymore yeah and it's like you know what it's not gonna kill him so it's okay but every other day I I buy like by the week for
Starting point is 00:30:09 his school lunches so it's like there are things that go in there every week so it's like a maybe a cheese stick and yogurt and a jello are like consistent but the flavors might change and then I try to change up like the crackers if it's like crackers or teddy grams or pretzels you know or whatever but then it's always like a who knows when it comes to like the main dish right like the peanut butter and jelly sandwich that can't be the peanut butter and jelly sandwich so oh somebody else told me that they get sushi for their kids like they they get sushi like my local grocery store makes it fresh there so I
Starting point is 00:30:56 was like oh well if your kid would eat something like that because Jackson does eat sushi so I was like okay well maybe I could do like two little pieces of California roll or something because that's as much as he's gonna eat at school lunch anyway that that could be an option too but that was a good one I try to I try to change it up as much as I can but then also it's like the same you know I pretty much stay pretty consistent I mean I do like I got these compartmentalized is that the word little lunchboxes at Pottery Barn like years ago yes I love those able to still use them for for Lux because I had
Starting point is 00:31:36 gotten them for Isaac and Lincoln actually and though there's like a covered like little compartment in the in the box and so I put like his like treat in there and Lux loves fruit snacks like that's like his you can he will do anything for fruit snacks so I was putting them in there and I just felt like it got like he would know that every single day he's getting them so yesterday I put like the little mini muffins in there and then this morning he was like I want fruit snacks like okay so that is like he loves that so that's like his always gonna be there fruit snacks in the little compartment
Starting point is 00:32:17 but I think pretty much everything I do it's like crackers and like rich crackers or salt teens in place of the bread because he has no interest in bread and then like a cheese stick and a meat of some sort whether it's salami or ham or turkey and then like you said like a rotating like yogurt or applesauce and then we do like veggie straws because I don't really know what else to put in place of like I hate when I I don't want to do like a cheese stick and a yogurt and something else like a chocolate milk like that's all dairy and there's nothing else you know like that's it's hard to find like the balance of all of
Starting point is 00:32:54 the things oh yeah and then because of COVID too I stopped sinned when he did go back to school I stopped sending reusable water bottles I just send like the little small ones and then I just put two in his backpack so if he gets he'll drink one and then if he gets thirsty then he has an extra but that's been a lifesaver for me too just I mean he would come home and sometimes his backpack would be like drenched because he didn't put the lid on his water bottle good enough and I'm sure so many moms can relate to this and then it's like all the papers are soaking wet and it's like oh so I I did start doing the
Starting point is 00:33:32 little mini water bottles and that has been great and then as far as the fruit snacks some of my favorite fruit snacks are actually the Walmart brand the Smiley's those are so good and I think they're so nasty your kids like them too my kids love the great value Smiley's and yes me too your kids can come to my house and I will feed them Smiley's I do not love them oh you know what else I was thinking too like okay how do people if you wanted to send Jackson loves chicken noodle soup and he would eat that for a lunch but how do you keep it warm like a thermos yeah but like does the thermos keep it warm enough because
Starting point is 00:34:19 I can guarantee you like a yeti by the time he eats lunch if I if I leave him if he leaves from home around like seven something he doesn't eat lunch until noon is it still gonna be warm you think I was wondering that too because I saw at Lux's school someone's mom sent them with mac and cheese in a thermos and I was like oh like he must like cold mac and cheese like that was the thing that went through my head but I'm thinking it was probably warmed up and then put in the thermos is my thought now that you say that so I'm gonna actually go look on the website right now for like yeti and see like or maybe I just do a test
Starting point is 00:35:00 later and see let me see here yeah tell me what you find like is it would it be a thermos like I don't I don't know I've always wondered because then I'm like okay well that opens up the options a lot for me because then I could do like chicken noodle soup I could do macaroni and cheese I could put spaghetti in there like there's so many different things that if it stayed warm but I can guarantee you if he opens it up and it's cold he's not gonna eat that would your kids eat that no yeah especially Isaac especially Isaac will not eat food that's touching and if it's cold do your older boys eat school lunch Isaac's he
Starting point is 00:35:48 he does but he came home the other day telling me he doesn't want to eat it anymore he wants to pack his lunch okay well he's probably getting to that age where he's gonna be he's gonna start being like more particular I'm trying to look up on this website but I don't even see like thermos I'll try to find some options and I'll I'll take one for the team I'll order some options and then over the weekend whatever whenever it comes I will test it so I'll like put something in there at like seven and then check it at noon and see okay okay sounds like a plan so I'll do a science experiment for all of us okay this
Starting point is 00:36:29 wait time out time out time out this says on pottery barn keeps liquids hot or cold for up to six hours so I'm wondering if the same thing is for like this is a pottery barn line I'm wondering if this is the same for like the food thermos I'm not sure but we will be finding out let me know okay we will be finding out all right you guys I've talked about this before I've posted it on my Instagram skylight frame is amazing it's such a good gift to give to someone a loved one a birthday gift a Christmas gift whatever it could just be you know just because you can upload photos in seconds from anywhere and I

Starting point is 00:38:37 tell you the creepy thing that happened to me okay so I'm gonna summarize it because it's very disturbing and I really just don't want to read the details of it someone sent this to I want to say that just like DMs it's an article about a firefighter let me scroll up cuz I sent it this morning so hold on one second it's really disturbing like I said and I don't know like it's by Daily Mail and I don't know if Daily Mail is like a reputable source of information and sometimes I feel like some of these are like made up stories to get you to click on them and then they're ultimately like a
Starting point is 00:39:20 virus or something or hackers I don't know but that's like my theory because I feel like this this story that I'm about to summarize for you is it's just like unbelievable like doesn't sound real to me Florida firefighter and his wife raped a girl to teach her how to have a baby then stitched her wounds up with a sewing kit I don't know that I need to read any more than that other than she was she reported it and you know there are mug shots for people but again I don't know if this is real because it says Florida but it's by Daily Mail so it just feels a little weird to me and I said that the the couple that raped the
Starting point is 00:40:04 girl said that they were trying to teach her how to have a baby I'm gonna Google the name that was used in this article like on my computer and see well let me tell you what happened with this this story so I also got it to my DMs and when I went it said it was it was like somebody had wrote wrote to me like typed to me something and was like this is like a story that you should read on the podcast and whatever and then it sent like a YouTube link I'm assuming it was like a YouTube link to someone maybe like covering this story and I go to click on it and have you ever like gone to click on something and then you're
Starting point is 00:40:48 like oh something might be wrong with my Wi-Fi because like it won't drag across the screen it's like it's like it's loading but it's like not coming up has that happened to you before um yes so then I turned my Wi-Fi off and I'm like maybe something's going on with my Wi-Fi all of a sudden my screen just goes like completely black completely black and I'm like oh great like somebody this is a hacker that has literally sent this link to my DMs and now they have hacked my phone and I'm not gonna be able to get my phone it literally turned my whole phone black and everything was frozen on my phone see that's scary to
Starting point is 00:41:33 me that's like hacker type of shit so I turn I turned my phone completely off because I was like oh my god like what is happening and then I started asking someone about the dark web because I'm like what what even is that like I don't I don't even know how to get there and is it like a real thing supposedly it's like a real thing and was this a link that was like from the dark web that was like a hacker or something I have no idea but I'm completely freaked out and then Kale sent me the link to the article over text this morning and I was like oh wow so obviously like this is something that's going around that a
Starting point is 00:42:12 lot of people know about I always worry about that like when I'm reading stuff like is this real is this yeah so I totally hear you on that I did Google these people and it's evidently coming up in several different places my news 13 click Orlando mirror.co daily mail Orlando and how do you even say this sent sentinel sent yes yes baller alert all these places so I crime online com so the girl was seven years old I'm thinking based on this it's real and it's not a virus or hackers but we can never be sure it's so crazy on and other news though I was watching ET last night and it came across the screen that
Starting point is 00:43:11 Joe Exotic had written to Kim Kardashian and I'm totally not surprised and I honestly thought that that would be his tactic to try to get out of jail honestly didn't we say that before like didn't we say how funny would that be if that happened and then it actually happened I feel like we did I feel like we talked about it and then when I was watching it it's like deja vu right like I was sitting here watching and I was like oh wow I feel like that already happened in life right wait did she say that it happened or like it came like how did how did you find out yeah so it was on ET and it just was saying that
Starting point is 00:43:49 ET had obtained the letter from the Tiger King and that he had just written to her trying to get a presidential pardon from Donald Trump and and the letter it said I know you have never met me I may never want to but I do believe however I do believe that you hold the values of our justice system dear to your heart I'm writing this letter not as Joe Exotic but the person Joseph Maladondo passage asking you to please help me by taking just 10 minutes of your life and placing a call to President Trump to look at my 257 page pardon it's all the evidence that I'm innocent and I ask him to sign my pardon
Starting point is 00:44:33 so I can return home to my husband Dylan and to my father so okay question I it's been so long since I've seen it all what is he exactly in jail for I don't know animal abuse because I feel like what he did was kind of animal abuse it definitely was neglect and yeah it just says that well he was serving he's serving 22 years because he was convicted of plotting like a murder for hire oh that's right that's right that's right okay and so then it said the in his letter it said I have lost 57 years of work my zoo my animals my mother has died my dad is dying and I've been taken away from my husband who I love dearly
Starting point is 00:45:20 everyone is so busy making movies getting interviews selling stuff and dressing up like me that everyone forgot I'm a real live person in prison and I'm kept from even telling my own my own story for something that I didn't do so he was just asking that's him to give him a phone call and just promising that no one has to know that she even called him so I think it's so interesting to see how that plays out me as well and then I have a lot of feelings about this because I feel like Halloween 2020 the amount of people that dressed up like Joe Exotic and Carol Baskin and their kids dressing up like Tigers and so on
Starting point is 00:46:08 and so forth like was a big hit for this Halloween and it is true that so many people that were a part of that documentary have been getting like these interviews and like tell-alls and then Carol Baskin was on Dancing with the Stars and her ex-husband who was missing and is dead that she was accused of killing the family like did a commercial or something like that before the premiere of Dancing with the Stars and so I do feel like it has been like a what would it be called like a pop culture like sensation or something like I don't yeah like a phenomenon kind of yeah so to his point though I definitely think
Starting point is 00:46:58 that people definitely we have forgotten that he is a real person in jail and that's sad to say because I feel like I'm in that same situation people forget that I'm a real person I'm not just a character that's on TV and you know people run wild with it it's the same for him yes I don't know how I feel like I I don't know what I've said in the past because I'm sure like when I was fresh and I just watched it I probably had my opinions but like now looking back I don't really remember what my what my thoughts were on everything do we think that he actually plotted Carol Baskin's murder like do we think that I mean I
Starting point is 00:47:34 think so just based off of the documentary but then if you look at like different documentaries everything can have a bias right when you look at like let's just say I don't want to get into politics but let's just say like the documentaries that have happened over the candidates and there's like a bias in those documentaries is what we saw how have like a is it bias I don't know you know like I would be interested to read the 257 page pardon honestly like I would we can look up discovery because I've you know people have looked up like the Chris Watts discovery and read like all 1900 pages I think we could look up
Starting point is 00:48:20 the discovery and it would be there yeah I think that's something that I want to do just to get like more information just to see what's in it I mean I would do we know if Carol Baskin had ever been like investigated for a murder like was she ever investigated for the murder of her missing husband ex-husband yeah I think that she don't remember I just I feel bad because like I don't know what I've said remember what I said in the past and now I feel bad because like obviously I'm not that invested now so will and I feel like she definitely killed her ex-husband I mean I and then she was on Dancing with the Stars like
Starting point is 00:48:58 but that's crazy because you would never see like me or Leah on Dancing with the Stars and we are on Teen Mom but someone who may or may not have killed their ex-husband and is known for that got on Dancing with the Stars that's so interesting isn't that crazy too like how they cast for shows like Dancing with the Stars and it's like how obviously for like since it's ABC affiliated right like you're going to always have put back right they wouldn't cast right because it's ABC but then if you look like outside of like other franchises like your show mm-hmm I honestly couldn't imagine they had
Starting point is 00:49:42 Sadie Robertson from Duck Dynasty on there Nelly was on there they have a lot of big-name people that go that are all so controversial right but they would never put on like someone from my franchise yeah I honestly couldn't see it I I really couldn't which is so that's so weird which is so crazy wait we have to talk about this before we go I have been watching simultaneously the undoing the flight attendant and a teacher have you watched any of these no ma'am but I read an article about all three of these and or maybe it was a text someone named literally all three of these was it you yeah I did I did I
Starting point is 00:50:34 posted about it on Instagram yesterday that's okay okay so then that's where I saw it okay so okay a teacher is on Hulu and it's like a weekly thing that is released so like a show but they release the episode every week type thing and I had posted about watching these shows on Instagram last night and through that I got direct messages from people that went to high school with will and was like because I had asked like do we think that in high school that like these teacher-student relationships are common and like happen or is this just like a really far-fetched storyline it's about this this teacher who is in an affair
Starting point is 00:51:27 with her student and she's like in love with him and so a lot of people wrote me saying that they went to high school with will and for me to ask will about the situation then I went on there and looked today and a girl had wrote to me and was like you need to ask will to tell you about his older brother and his friends and I'm like what the hell like what is going on so then will tells me that like there was multiple scandals at his high school with teachers sleeping with athletes at the school yes and I'm just like I wonder how and I mean as a mom of a boy and I know you probably as a mom of boys too that freaks me out
Starting point is 00:52:16 because will also was like I honestly think that male teachers are looked at just like why are they a teacher you know whatever their look just looked at differently it's like a double standard yes but he said I honestly think it's more common that it happens with women female teachers and male students so that's interesting because there's a school here in Delaware where there was like my my friend bone went to the high school she went to high school with my friend Malik and Malik they I think they were in school like the same year and a couple other of my friends went there and graduated from there at the school
Starting point is 00:52:57 where there was several while they were in school several scandals of male both male and female teachers having relations with students I want to say like like three scandals while they were in school I just I mean and then I was telling will last night because I was I was like laughing I was laying in the bed and I was I mean it's not funny but I was laughing because when I started reading him some of these DMs that I was getting from people that like went to his high school will was like this is 20 years removed but like I'm seriously sitting here on Google trying to find the articles from where these people were
Starting point is 00:53:37 arrested for this and I'm just like I want to know how common it is that it happens and what I want to hear people stories about it honestly because I went to such a small high school I went to a private religious affiliated high school and I graduated with like 39 people in my graduating class and so I told will I was like that was not going on at my high school and he was like Lindsay you literally went to school with like 20 people so obviously it wasn't probably a thing at your school but large public high schools and stuff like that I feel like it's a common thing so I just want to know like what are people's
Starting point is 00:54:21 experiences how does it get from a teacher relationship to like a physical relationship like I just could never do you know what I'm saying like it could just never imagine that I just write especially because well so right now just to your point I just googled the school here I'm not going to say it on the podcast yeah because I don't want to offend anyone but this high school that I was referring to I just googled it and to came up within two years so in 2012 and 2014 there was two scandals so and that's at the same one and then I was just going to say like I remember looking back and at my teachers like it was
Starting point is 00:55:02 just such a rarity to like see your teacher out in person it was like the scene off of mean girls where they're like seeing a teacher outside the classroom is like a dog on its back legs like yes well at least I don't remember ever really like I saw my fifth grade math teacher my sixth grade math teacher at the gas station once and I was like wow like this is so weird like this is a rare sighting you know what I mean like never saw my teachers outside of the classroom and so like to even like they were just like a different they were on like a different level of like respect and like your I don't know like
Starting point is 00:55:38 I never wanted to disappoint my teachers like I had that type of like respect but like also never saw them and also would like I can't even imagine crossing that line so like it's weird to me like how do you even get close to a teacher like that I mean not that I was like afraid of my teachers by any means no I just held them to like a different standard like a respect like they were my what do you call it like elders or something like yeah I just held them to kind of that standard and that would have just never been a situation and I just don't know how that happens I definitely want to oh wait there's one in I'm I didn't even I
Starting point is 00:56:19 just looked over 2012 2014 and 2015 at this school but no I'm with you on that like that's kind of how I feel but I am curious just to hear both sides of it so if you're open to being on the podcast and you want to tell your story on either end like I'm open I'm not judging I'm just genuinely curious like me too like this isn't a judgmental thing I just want to like know like I'm genuinely interested in how these turn of events happen and then on that note I did want to say that moving forward into the new year that I would love to start like recapping shows but I also don't want to be like a spoiler so what do we think
Starting point is 00:57:05 about like talking about shows but then giving a certain date and be like okay gloves off after that right so we'll give you until X amount of time to catch up on it and if you're not caught up if you listen it's gonna be spoiled yeah I think you know I'm saying yes I think that's fair and also since we're out of time I wanted to tell you about trial for if you didn't get a chance to watch it to watch it so we could talk about it next week okay yeah I have that actually on my list to watch but then wait we have to talk about this one thing really quick because I want to talk about it on a future episode but I had sent Kale a
Starting point is 00:57:49 message that somebody had sent me and it said hi Lindsay I listened to yours and Kale's podcast and I'm listening to you talk about child protective services and your point about how the kids would fear retaliation if their parents fear retaliation from their parents if they told investigators are really and I felt like it was a really interesting point I recently read a book called spilled milk and it's about a little girl who was abused and a true story it's a story about how she was abused in dealing with social workers and things and I think it would be really cool to have her on the podcast I don't know if we
Starting point is 00:58:23 can have her on the podcast but it's something that I did look up and I'm going to start listening via audiobook but I wanted to know like how many of our listeners listen to books on like audible audio versions and then it made me think like are your books like an audio version do you have an audio version of yes I have pride over pity and hustling heart they're both on audible they are did you record the audio book I did not either in someone else's voice would that be something that you would be interested in doing if you did a future book yes I would do it am I I just when I first I wrote well I
Starting point is 00:59:05 didn't write it in 2014 but when it came out in 2014 pride over pity they did ask me to do it but I was so like to me it was so new and I didn't understand it so I didn't feel comfortable doing it but now looking back I wish that I would have done it in my voice yeah you know next year when my book comes out I will be doing my own voice in audible I love that okay well on that note I have to go to Hobby Lobby the dollar store and all the other things because it is that time of the year to decorate the hallways and I am co-room mom and so I have to go and get all of the things I still haven't made it to the gym today so I am
Starting point is 00:59:49 obviously on the struggle bus but we will pick it up next week and if you guys have not subscribed to us make sure you do that on the purple podcast app the way that you do it is so easy you just type in coffee combos you click subscribe you click the fifth star to leave us a five-star review and you can also leave us a written review I hope you guys have a great week and we'll talk to you soon see ya
