Hey guys welcome to another episode of coffee combos podcast did you do that because it was Jackson's birthday I was gonna sing happy birthday like in the intro but I was like wait a minute that might be weird so I was like let me know I was gonna say good morning happy birthday Jackson episode do you sing to your kids on their birthday like in the mornings um no I just sing all the time and you're like don't say anything basically yeah I'm glad you're here yeah so did you have a good morning oh my gosh well okay so Christmas morning or Christmas night somehow he ended up in my bedroom last

night somehow he ended up in my bedroom and Will was like okay Jackson is eight years old he's not having nightmares anymore so he doesn't need to fake like he's having nightmares so he can come and sleep in here after today since he's still seven today then he can sleep in here but tomorrow like he can't ever sleep in here again and I'm like this is tragic oh that's your baby but yes but he woke up and was so excited that it was his birthday and he and Will he's kind of getting into that phase where I don't know if anybody's kids watch watches Jesse but there's some girl some actress on there named Emma and he's

like really into her and Sky Jackson that was on Dancing with the Stars like he's super into them and so I just think it's funny to see him evolve I'm sure you've seen it with your voice too like I don't know if any of your boys are interested in girls yet but Jackson's very like I wouldn't say interested in girls but you starting to get curious yes yes okay yeah totally and he's not ready for that Jackson so pretty she was on Dancing with the Stars and she is so tiny and so cute when was she on Dancing with the Stars this past season she was on it oh my god I'll have to go back and watch it I haven't watched that show in

forever but I do love it it's I love it oh my gosh so anyhow but here we are another episode I am doing my makeup we should start vlogging these so that people can see what the hell's going on behind the scenes we could definitely do that record over zoom could you imagine like I'm stuffing my face with Duncan and you're doing your makeup like with headphones on I can't be like what is going on I'm also very on brand today I'm wearing a Chick-fil-A shirt or sweatshirt I asked for it for Christmas actually and I know it's a really weird ask will also thought it was a very weird ask and when I got it he said you do

realize people are gonna think you're an employee of Chick-fil-A because they all wear these sweatshirts and it's like it's very fitting I should be an employee of Chick-fil-A because I'm pretty much there as much as an employee of Chick-fil-A so yeah that's that's what I look like right now I feel like any time I go somewhere for like dinner or if someone is at the store and says my pleasure I'm like this is literally Chick-fil-A like I don't know if you guys are former employees of Chick-fil-A but that is should be trademarked by Chick Fil-A it pretty much is like that's their token phrase my pleasure and you know

what I sometimes wonder like do they really mean my pleasure like I don't know it's kind of sexual like I just feel like kill that's definitely not what I was thinking I was thinking more along the lines of a smart ass like my pleasure you know they get a real jerk come up there and right right yelling all of these orders and they're like my pleasure and it's like is that like their way of being like go to hell right like my pleasure yeah Squidward from SpongeBob oh my gosh I love that you brought up SpongeBob you know I banned Jackson from SpongeBob he's never been able to watch it yeah I hate SpongeBob

my kids are not into it so I'm super pumped about that like Lux knows who SpongeBob is but we don't watch it which is it's really a blessing such a blessing I'm I feel so blessed as well it's so weird the things that when you become a parent that you become aware of that you weren't aware of as a kid because I remember watching SpongeBob and it obviously just went way over my head and if nobody knows what I'm talking about supposedly there's tons of like sexual innuendos in the cartoon and I don't know I just read I'll have to find the article that I read about SpongeBob back in the day very interesting

Moving on since we're only doing a 30 minute episode because one we don't want to waste y'all's time and y'all probably don't want to listen to us longer than 30 minutes on a holiday week I am so much more excited actually about New Year's than I was the week of Christmas not because I was being a Grinch but just because I just really wasn't in the super spirit this year

were you? Definitely not I mean you guys know how I feel about it but yeah I definitely wasn't but I've been hearing that kind of like across the board yeah yeah not just us like I feel like everyone was just kind of like 2020 sucked and so it didn't really feel like Christmas and I know half the people I know didn't even get to go see their families because of COVID so that was one of the questions actually how we felt about the holiday this year and you know obviously you've talked about how you felt about it because you didn't have your kids this Christmas but all of the added things you know with COVID and

with people's traditions just changing because it was like a force change I think a lot of people were just kind of over it and it was pretty much a letdown and I mean as you know Jackson's birthday is just a few days after Christmas anyway so I always take down my decorations the day after Christmas but so many people over the weekend I saw on Instagram storing that they were taking down all their decorations and just like ready for it to be over and people are so looking forward to 2021 but then I also saw this thing where people were like don't make 2021 your year just like let whatever happens gonna happen like

don't set expectation because none of us know what's gonna happen and I think that I'm probably gonna live by that because I think sometimes when you set big expectations and then they don't happen then it's just like such a letdown well I mean to be fair I feel like that goes just in general not just for like COVID 2020 2021 I feel like setting expectations as as a whole anytime is probably not best yeah I agree and sometimes I think I think goal setting is definitely like a needed thing and I definitely am the type of person that if I write something down and hold myself accountable to an extent because like I

wrote it and because I said it then I want to like follow through with it but also sometimes the things that we say or do this is just like for everyone it's just unrealistic with certain circumstances so for me this year my goals just look a little bit differently I think a lot of people can relate to the fact that I had been working out at home for 270 days since COVID started I remember when I text you and told you that I had like rechecked into the gym a couple of weeks ago and it had been 270 days and I'm just like I didn't even know that many days past does that make sense it's just like how did that much

time just go by I don't know I feel like the whole year like this entire year has been such a blur like when I think about like vacation in the memories I feel like it was 2020 but it was actually 2019 which is so weird like when I went to dinner on Sunday my friend Mark and I were talking about our camping trip and it was literally he was like no that was in May I said no Mark that was 2019 like that was you know what I mean like it's just like it feels like it happened so fast but it was like during the days it was so long oh I know it just felt like it just drug on and drug on and then we watched Tiger King some more

and then it drug on yeah for real and it's like what the hell is happening so anyhow another question that we got and this was kind of for both of us I guess you had posted a photo on your Instagram story about the yard or the lot and people were asking is it like official are you starting to build what is the style gonna be like people have a lot of questions and honestly to all coffee combos listeners I'm so excited that you guys are excited about this process because I think it makes it just even more exciting for us and I didn't even know that people were like that interested in this kind of thing I didn't

either I mean I definitely won't do a whole Instagram account like Chelsea did just because I can't keep up like I literally cannot keep up with another account but so we are under well I say we meaning me and the kids I'm under contract for land and we'll go to settlement next month so I'm super super super excited about it and I don't know exactly when we're gonna break ground only because I guess because of COVID there are some banks that are no longer doing construction loans I don't know if it's yeah so that was news to me I actually had a lender call me on Saturday which I was like thank you so

much like I didn't expect you to call me on a weekend but like I'm here for it and he basically was like let me double check some things on Monday and Tuesday and I'll get back to you next week he's like I think that we're good he's like but you know a lot of banks aren't doing it or they're not doing like certain price ranges for construction loans just because a construction loan at any time is more risky for the bank than like a like a traditional mortgage and then on top of it with COVID and you know people not people losing their jobs or you know taking pay cuts I think they're they're slowing down a little bit but I

have like a weird income you know you got you guys like with the reality TV and stuff it's just non-traditional so he just wanted to double check on some things as far as that goes and so I'll have the land either way because that's I'm doing to I'm not doing like land in a development so it's there's no like builder tie-in it's just like land by itself so I'm hoping to break ground early in 2021 but we'll see I guess it just depends on the bank I know we've kind of dealt a little bit with the same situation but ours is more county involved just trying to get the permits and the subdivide getting it

subdivided because it's going to be us and three other families on this land so trying to do all of that with COVID like you were saying and I didn't even honestly consider the loan process because which is great I guess crazy that I didn't consider the fact of COVID and people I guess just the stability of people's jobs just isn't there so it's a lot riskier for the banks to to give out those types of loans so I mean that totally totally makes sense it's just kind of sad that you get to this point in your life and then it's like oh wow there's a pandemic and everything has changed and it's like

can I be excited do you right right like like it's almost yeah it like takes away a little bit like this is obviously a huge milestone in my life like I've been able to yeah houses houses never thought I would be here so you know it's a big deal for me but I mean I also want to be sensitive to what other people are going through but so I like I definitely don't mind waiting you know what I mean so if that means that I can't build in 2021 I have my land like I think I'm actually closing on my land the same day I closed on this sale of my Middletown house so that's exciting it'll be you know what I mean so it's like closing

one yeah like closing one chapter opening another one and if that means I can't build for another year like honestly that's just another year of savings for me so that's okay definitely still like a step in the right direction and you know I hope everyone is able to like recover from 2020 in 2021 you know like it's fine if I have to wait another year but I am excited and I do I do feel like I'm allowed to be excited so I don't know I know what happens I feel like sometimes you don't know if it's okay to be excited about certain things with everything that has gone on in this year right it's like yes

you feel it's not like you feel maybe a sense of guilt is the word or mm-hmm but you don't really know what you're feeling guilty for I think it's just because hearts are heavy and you know you just you know all of the things that have gone on in the past year and it just makes you feel like oh am I supposed to be happy right now am I supposed right you know or I'm just supposed to be sad I think that a lot of people can can probably relate to that but on that note I do have a question for all of you guys listening what type of home is your favorite is it farmhouse is it more traditional is it contemporary I would

just be interested to know because I feel like once everything gets settled with my situation and kale situation I feel like we're gonna be building pretty similar style homes I think think they'll definitely be differences but I feel like we're going down the same path so I just I definitely if other I was surprised yeah when I've seen like some of the pictures that you send me and stuff like I have to say I was surprised that you and I have very similar taste as far as like interior stuff like I was surprised by that I don't know why I thought you were like in my head I guess I pictured you as like minimal like

straight lines like I don't know like not that you weren't homey but like what's the word I'm looking for like I'm I don't know what your style like minimalist style and I mean I am working I will say last week I actually started on my closets and like the decluttering and I am truly it is on my heart for the year to minimize like the things and only have the things that are usable things in my home so to that extent yes like I don't like a lot of clutter I don't this is going to sound literally psychotic I don't have a junk drawer that's not a thing for me but as far as our styles it's really funny because when I got a

new bed at my house here I don't know if you guys remember me talking about redoing hardwood floors upstairs and everything I think it was last summer but then I got a new bed and my bedding and everything and it's very similar to your bed kill like it's very yeah this style and everything is very similar so it's just kind of weird how different we are but can come together with our home interior yeah and our carpet we had like almost the same rug and everything it was so weird I was like oh wow did Kale see my house or did I see her house and get that idea I that's it's so crazy I I'm actually really

excited I feel like I talked to Chelsea about her build all the time only because I'm so excited and I've had things picked out for so long because if you guys remember I was gonna build before I bought my Middletown house and so I've had things picked out for a long time and Chelsea's style is so different than mine like we're just our styles are very different but I keep asking her I'm like a lot of the things that I pick out there's no real style like I don't have I'm not contemporary or transitional or treated or like modern like it's like a mix of things and she said the same she's like I thought I loved farmhouse

and farmhouse only she's like but you know like my style is very just whatever I like and I bring it together and so like that kind of made me feel good because I feel like I don't have to pick one thing one single like style of my house like I can just I can make it cohesive and still bring different elements of different designs and so like that makes me feel a little bit more at ease I just I'm very weird about so in my build this is one thing that I told my builder I said listen to me and listen to me carefully every bathroom needs to match there's not gonna be a bathroom that is different than another

except for maybe my master like maybe and that's not even dead set dead set like I want all of my bathrooms to match like the same tile maybe maybe a different color but I need to be the same shape do you know what I mean like I need you yes like I cannot do it like I know like yeah yeah me too I I really really really love brushed brass now like gold but if we're gonna do gold which I at first I was like okay I definitely want like a gold back like it yes but not like chrome like brushed right yeah so I originally was like I want like gold pulls on my drawers and my cabinets and all of that and then I was like wait a

minute if I have like gold hinges in the kitchen and stuff I can't then have silver throughout like I'm just very if I'm gonna build this house every sink yes so every single hinge needs to match and like in my house now it doesn't bother me because I didn't build it so like it's not a huge deal but I just know going forward when I build like I want everything to match I just hope that brushed brass doesn't go like I hope I don't get sick of it right away I think it's so funny that and then we'll get off of home but I think it's so funny that in the 90s it was very popular to have the gold and the white

kitchen and then it went out and no one wanted a white kitchen in like the 2000s it was dated right and then right now it's all back it's so weird isn't that like how do you do like a timeless kitchen you know what I mean I know I feel like it's impossible to do a timeless kitchen because at some point it's gonna go out again and then it'll come back but then there there are some folks out there that's like you know what I don't care I like my kitchen and they kept it from the 90s and now it's back in and they're just like I'm a winner told you yeah like yeah been living with this white kitchen and these

gold knobs for a really long time right any who a lot of questions about this and it was kill have you seen the promo pic they use on Netflix for the teen mom picture that was one of them and then the other question ties in as well is how do you feel about being on Netflix so someone actually DM'd me this last night and I didn't get back I actually answered them this morning because it is very irritating it's a two-parter right like I'm excited that we're on Netflix because I feel like it'll remind people how far we've come which is like all the messages I've been getting now is like you know now that we're you know five

six seven eight years older you know I realized like what you went through before and now I have a different perspective of you so in that way I'm relieved I feel good that we're on Netflix it's cool the other hand I did not know they were gonna put us on Netflix so like nobody was warned that we were going on Netflix so we just got like an overwhelming influx of messages about being on Netflix so I don't mind that I'm on Netflix I don't mind that I'm the face of the Netflix what I do mind is that we don't get paid for it right so I mean it's just one of those things where like again hindsight is 2020 and you

know had we known that this was gonna be a possibility I feel like all of us would have negotiated that into our contracts like if you take this outside of MTV we will get royalties on it or something you know like we I feel like as 16 year old signing these contracts like that's not something that we would have thought of and we probably signed our name and our likeness away so they can use it for anywhere they want and we don't get paid for it so that's irritating right well somebody said that it was like your ultrasound picture was like a main picture or something on Netflix and they just wanted to know like how you felt

about it being on there and I guess I mean you think about it and it's like okay well it was already on MTV but it is kind of weird I could imagine it being like weird with it being on Netflix just how popular Netflix is now and it's like probably like in the new releases or whatever and people are scrolling through and it's like somebody sees your ultrasound picture like you pregnant at 16 that is a little weird it is it is weird like I was like okay I've been on national TV but like Netflix I feel like more people I don't know if this is true it's just an assumption but I think more people are paying for

Netflix now than they are for cable so it's almost like a redo of like the peak of the show it's like a re-peak of you know like you know what I mean like I feel like I don't know it's it's definitely weird I just I think I hope that people go back and they're not like oh my god she's cringy because that's what I feel like I haven't been able to rewatch but I'm like I can't because I'm so cringy like I'm so cringe-worthy oh my god Kale stop so a lot of well I don't want to say a lot there was a few people that I saw just like am I Explorer page that are from your franchise that we're talking about how they wish that

people would realize that it was like so many years ago and how they're feeling like they're having to relive it all over again because it's come on Netflix and the comments are you know horrible so I don't know if you've experienced any of that or not but I could also see kind of that side of it people who might not have been a teen mom watcher or something that is now just finding this because they're like an avid net Netflixer if that's what you want to call it and now certain people are getting getting hate from scenes on teen mom that were like 19 years ago I need to ask you off off of the podcast who you're

referring to I know that the messages that I get nine out of ten of them are oh my god I forgot how mean Joe was to you or oh my god he was borderline abusive to you like maybe not physically abusive but the things that he did to me and you know the things that he said to me were awful and then you know a lot of people are like I have a new found respect for you you know I'm watching it ten years later and or rewatching ten years later and I see why you were the way you were so in that way I'm kind of thankful it's like you know now that we're all older we have a different perspective I want to say I know who

you're referring to and I'm gonna ask you when we get off here cuz I'm I feel like I know but okay you can ask me when we get off here the next question and I'm just gonna kind of like make this more generic than the way that it was asked but it was about reconciliation and relationships whether that be like a marriage family whatever friends and I feel like I have such a weird perspective on this because I have reconciled with my husband twice so obviously I believe in reconciliation however through my journey of fear my short journey of therapy so far I think that you have to look at the situation at hand everyone's

situation is different and I think that when you look at the situation you have to think about how that person or situation makes you feel and weigh the pros and cons of the reconciliation and if you're willing to take the risk and the pros outweigh the cons then I believe in it but if I also think that if you have tried to reconcile and continue having the same issues after multiple reconciliations then at that point I think that it's a no-go how do you feel about it you know I'm at a point right now in my life where I don't feel like I want to reconcile with anyone that I don't have in my life you

know what I mean like if it's like something about like growing apart and there was no like fallout there was no fight it was just like truly growing apart like maybe someone moved or had a baby and you know became friends with other people you know because of their surroundings or you know just whatever maybe they got a new job and like met new friends and there was nothing there was you know you guys just grew apart I feel like that's different but I don't want to reconcile with anyone like I don't have not one single person that I would even consider not I wouldn't even want to weigh the pros and cons right

now like I wouldn't even be like you know what they did to me wasn't that bad or like and if even if that has to do with like me fucking up like maybe I did something they didn't like like I did what I did I'm sorry if that hurt you but I also still don't want to be friends like I just like is that I don't know is that no no no it's not it's just however you it's how you feel there's no I don't think there's a right or wrong answer when it comes to this I think that it's just personally how you feel I know that there's certain things that have happened in my life that can never go back to a good place so right what

would be the point of putting myself in a situation when I already know the inevitable right because it wouldn't be it wouldn't be genuine so I think sometimes that the idea of reconciliation is is great however a lot of times I think it's just like beyond realistic and so I don't know obviously like I said I reconciled with with Will twice but also through those reconciliations I think that there was a lot more things that played in into those situations and and we can get more into that at another time because we don't really have time to do that do you want to do one last question did you

have any questions kill no I'm just kidding I just wanted to see what you'd say no I don't have any any real other questions I think you covered like some really good ones that are like not the same not the same ones that we get every day but I do want to say that I hope Jackson has a great birthday well but I've got to ask you this other question oh oh then go ahead go ahead how's your toe you know what it's not in pain anymore and it's almost completely healed and I'm just waiting for the little corner to grow back because it's just like not cute right now and I'm so thankful it's not summertime but it's

not inflamed it's not red it's not sore so I just need to know it was an infection and there was like I guess when I got my pedicure or whatever they like shoved I forgot we didn't talk about this like you know when they like scrape like the corners of your toes like get what like sock lint out and stuff like that Auckland yeah like if it gets stuck in your toes or like okay I'm disgusting then I don't know they like scoop out like anything underneath your nail and I guess that like that little pool that they like scraped yes instead of like it coming out I guess they like shoved skin in like they like push the

skin down and so it was like skin it wasn't nail and I knew that and you knew that because when I sent you a picture of it you were like that's not an ingrown yeah it was just like and so like it was definitely infected I want I hate to say it's absolutely disgusting but a little bit of pus came out and I wanted to throw up and he gave me antibiotics and he sent me on my way and he's like I want to see you back in like two weeks so I was like cool I just hope that you know what I might even go get a fucking acrylic put on it I don't know does it look don't do anything to it right now like it had an infection so you just

need to like let it rest when he cut it like when he clipped it and like he was like see it's just skin like he showed it to me and I was like oh my god instant relief like it was so crazy it was instant relief and I was like I knew it wasn't an ingrown like I knew I don't and some people get them all the time I I've never had a real ingrown so like I don't know that I would have known otherwise if you didn't tell me like you told me but I didn't know yeah no you if you had an ingrown honey trust me you would know like you would know it was an ingrown because it would hurt it would like throb all the way like to the top

of your toe well it mine was hurting I mean I'm just glad it's healed it's better and I'm gonna have my nail my toenails done for the first day of summer because it's gonna be grown back by then I'm so excited for you that makes me feel relieved knowing that your toe has relief right I wanted to say that Kale and I have been planning guest over the past week and that's going to be put on our schedule within the new year whenever it fits these future guest schedules and planning some other things but don't want to speak before those things happen so I just wanted to say that I hope everyone has a happy and
