Starting point is 00:00:00 I hate gift giving and receiving. Receiving gifts is so weird. What do you say thank you? This is coffee convoes with Kail Lowry and Lindsay Crissly. I really want you to be in your feels, Kail. That does not interest me whatsoever. I feel very attacked by you. A spirited discussion about motherhood, friendship, family, and life in the public eye.
Starting point is 00:00:18 I'm just not with the fakery anymore. There's a fakery bakery around here. Here's Kail and Lindsay. And I just want to forewarn everyone. Happy Thursday. I actively have strep. throat. I've been on antibiotics for over 48 hours now, so nobody in this content house should get sick. But if I have low energy, I am happy to be here. I just don't feel good. Good morning.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Kitty Katz coffee convo's podcast. So happy to be here. Life is in fucking shambles. And- 20206. We're three weeks and four weeks if you're listening. And it has put me on my ass worse than 2025. So if anyone's listening, just understand that I am going through it. Listen, let me tell you, I don't know if your stuff ends up lining up like this, but outside of all the other stuff that we collectively have going on, my doctor's doctor, Jackson's doctor's appointments always line up at the beginning of the year. So schedule looks like a fucking psych word for an entire month. And then like we're good. We get to February and we're good. like all of your annual appointments are in January?
Starting point is 00:01:32 Yeah, I don't know how that ended up happening, but I don't know if you know this. Insurance will not cover like unless it's been exactly a year. And so one time I accidentally, well, I don't want to say it was an accident, but I went to the doctor before it was an entire calendar year. And then they didn't cover that annual appointment. And so it always ends up getting pushed back by like either a week or something like that and it's been falling in January for since I've been divorced. I learned that last year when they told me, they were scheduling one of the kids,
Starting point is 00:02:07 I want to say like physicals or something. And they said it had to be a year and a day. So it was like 365 days plus one. So they couldn't schedule. And then I was just like, that's kind of insane because it's like what? Well, 2026 for me started out with COVID. I did not get the COVID cough, which which fantastic for me. And then you started with strep throat. And I'm still like mind blown that an adult like you get strep throat as much as you do. The last time I had strep throat that I can remember was 13 months ago in Spain.
Starting point is 00:02:45 You made it 13 months? 13 months. And then so when Elijah asked me about the kids or whatever, I said, he asked, he texts me something. And I said, let me get back to you. Like I'm really sick. I have strep. And he said again.
Starting point is 00:02:56 And I said, I haven't talked since Spain. And he said, no, you definitely had it after that. So he said, he told me that I had it before, before 13 months. But the last time I remember was 13 months. It's like you tap into his Google calendar and he has it written on there like the last time you had strep. Imagine. Imagine. Like I don't go over it. I need to tell you something also before it gets discovered. Yes, I changed my last name on Instagram back to Campbell. What? Wait, no, first I was just going to tell you that my dog died and now, wait, hold up. You, wait, to Campbell? I can't keep up. You have so many last names. It's like, how many baby daddies do I have? How many last names do you have?
Starting point is 00:03:43 Okay, well, I need to just like. Camble landsman. I just need to give you the rundown of like what's been going on because I kind of talked about it with Kayla last week on the Southern Tea. And we have been. having a little bit of regression in this house whenever it comes to Jackson and the divorce stuff. And I don't know if you had any of those regressions with Lincoln at all. He seems now that he's 13 years old, he's doing more things with his friends that like parents are sometimes involved and like both parents will be there. And I actually noticed it for the first time when Will hosted the first sleepover for Jackson. on his birthday weekend. And Jackson wanted me to bring breakfast over there, but mind you, we are divorced people.
Starting point is 00:04:33 And that's not what I would consider like the norm where he's hosting the sleepover. And I'm like divvying out breakfast in his kitchen. It was just the way you said, we are divorced people. Yes. Right there. We are divorced people. Yes, we are. And so, you know, of course, I provided and went over the.
Starting point is 00:04:54 there and dived out the breakfast and whatever and Will's just looking at me like I'm a psychopath and like what the fuck are you doing in my kitchen tight vibes but it's like I'm going to let myself in whatever well then he kind of like continued to regress from that point because I think he saw us like doing something together as parents like in the same house and so he started having this problem of why is your last name not Campbell and why is it Lanceman because you're not married to David. And I'm like, that does make sense. And maybe I'm traumatizing my kid. And also, nobody should be allowed to let me have their last name without doing like the hard work for me to carry it. And so I'm just doing everything that I possibly have whatever fucking last name you want.
Starting point is 00:05:45 You don't need to do hard work for a last name, Lindsay. It's like we're bamboozling the fuck out of all these people. Everybody. And I'm like, actually, that's my middle name. Oh, my God. Wait. Remember when you like went through that whole process of, um, like finding out stuff off like ancestry or whatever you did? And then you changed your last name on Facebook. And I log on and I'm like, who is this bitch? Imagine I changed it to like, kill Irwin Lowry Morris because I'm supposed to be a Morris. It's like my dad, my poor dad literally died not knowing he was a Morris. That's just so crazy. But can you walk me through the situation of, and I know that it was crazy last week for a plethora of reasons.
Starting point is 00:06:34 But then your dog getting put to sleep was really just like the icing that nobody needed. That was seriously like a punch to the gut. So Buddha is, what is? And oh my God, I'm going to cry. best dog in the whole why world and what's crazy like two days before I accidentally called him bear
Starting point is 00:06:58 I was like petting him and I was telling the kids like oh like you're just pet bear I mean oh my god pet Buddha it was crazy because I swear to God he was bear reincarnated the vet came to my house to put him down and I had never done it that way before I had my other dogs were put down at the vet's office. And we just knew this was in the works for some time. And like, people were so,
Starting point is 00:07:24 so people showed so much more love whenever I posted about, like, Buddha being sick, like, on socials and, like, giving advice and, like, tips and things like that. They were so much nicer to me about that than they have ever been to me about anything related to humans. And I did try some of the stuff that they were suggesting, but, like, he just wasn't improving in the vet, the vet did tell me he's like, you know, this is the right thing to do because he's so stoic and like super brave and strong that he's not going to show his family that he's in so much pain. And then the vet didn't do the body removal. So Rebecca finds this is funny, but it's like not funny. She found this funeral home like for people that do animals as well.
Starting point is 00:08:16 So I, it's like not funny, but it was like, okay, I needed a little bit of a laugh. I didn't know it was like a real funeral home. I thought it was like a pet funeral home. And it was people. They were super nice. They were really, really, really nice. Everyone was so- You walked through the process, like, of how this all went down.
Starting point is 00:08:35 Like, they came to your house and- Yeah. So my vet came to the house. And he had his assistance with him and they gave Buddha some sedation. And so he would not, he'd not know what was going on. And I just sat with him and he put his head in my lap. And they just, like, made sure that he was, you know, comfortable and everything and just surrounded by so much love.
Starting point is 00:09:03 And then they, like, gave us a few minutes with him. And then, you know, that gave him whatever, whatever it is that makes them go to sleep and not wake back up and then um tested him you know checked his heart and stuff and they said that he was gone and so it was just on the bed you know in front of the fireplace but he had this one spot on the couch and no one would sit there because buddha always sat there and so it was always hair on that side of the couch and um when the vet came to the in the house I had said like should we move him to his bed because you know when you pass away the pee and the poop comes out but then the funeral people got there so fast that I could have left him on the couch and let him pass
Starting point is 00:09:50 him the couch. But he loved his bed anyways and it was in front of the fireplace. And I mean, it was sort of like how they do it at the, I don't, you did it at the vet, right? Well, Della is still alive and kicked. Oh. What? I thought Della died. No, Della is still alive. I regularly tell Will, like, if it wasn't for you having a lot of it. I'm not for you having an ex-wife, like that dog would not be living. But yes, she is still. What? She's still alive. But when this happened, this whole process happened with Nanny with Miley, she loved that little dog, like a human being. Did she get him stuffed, get her stuffed? No. She does have an urn or a yearn. What's it called? Yeah. Earn, yearn, like, whatever it is. I talked to her on the phone the entire way to
Starting point is 00:10:42 the vet because it was more of like an emergency situation and that's why I'm so glad that yours was like on your terms, you know, and that probably when you look back on it after the sadness kind of like dissipates and stuff, you will feel so much better knowing that it was on your terms and you didn't have to do like an emergency vet type situation. But the sad thing is, is like with an older person when they've lost a human that was closest to them, like when she lost my papa and then Miley, I don't want to say like took his place, but comforted her was her companion. It was her little companion. And I don't think that she really realized when I was sending her to the emergency vet what was going to happen. And she kept asking the vet because I was on speaker.
Starting point is 00:11:29 She was like, is she going to hurt? And she was just like, falling her eyes out. She was like, I just don't want her to hurt. And it was the saddest thing ever, but you know that you're doing the right thing, but it feels so wrong. Did you feel like that? Yes. Like the whole time I'm like, it, like, am I doing something I shouldn't be doing? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:11:51 And I'm like, and then, wait, I did not expect to be emotional on this episode because the kids decided they wanted to go to school. And I had to talk to them the same way I talked to them about Bear. Everyone watched that on team mom. So like, everyone knows. and I had let them take a mental health day the Friday before. So I didn't want to. Like if they wanted to, I'd explain it to their dads and their dads would probably hate me for it.
Starting point is 00:12:22 But whatever, they all go to school. Well, the same fucking day that Buddha is passing away, I go to pick up Lincoln from school and he's crying because his friend just got fucking deported. Oh my God. Yeah. So it was, and he's crying because he didn't get to say bye to his whole. friend. He didn't get like, he's struggling. He's going through it. And and then here goes, he had explained it to me so that when Elliot sees Lincoln and he doesn't understand why Lincoln's crying, Elliot's like, what's going on? And he explains it. And then that pissed
Starting point is 00:12:54 Elliot off because he's like, what the, like, the shit that's going on right now is not, like, it's fucked up for everyone. Like in some way, everybody's impacted by what's going on. All right, y'all, let's take a quick break to talk about Honey Love. Starting point is 00:14:26 Experience the new standard and comfort and support with Honeylove. But anyways, about Buddha. I, the vet was fantastic. I mean, he is our regular vet. But he's so great about everything. And then I'm just waiting for the ashes back and I can put him in an urn and do whatever. But here goes, we get home from school pickup. And Lux goes, where's Buddha?
Starting point is 00:14:53 And I'm like, he passed away. And then Valley and Rio are so funny because I'm like, you know, like they go in the sky when they pass away. And so now every single day, Valley is like, and Buddha's in the sky. And I'm like, oh my God, please. She's processing it. But like for me, I'm like, I want to cry every time she says it. And then she's like, but he eats a bone. And I'm like, yeah, he eats a bone in the sky.
Starting point is 00:15:21 And then Rio thinks that he jumped in the sky. Like he thinks he ran away because I'm like, they're hard. Like Rio, he's in the sky. Like he passed away. He jumped in the sky. guy. And I'm like, yes, that's exactly what he did. Bless their hearts. That is. They're trying to understand.
Starting point is 00:15:42 It's so crazy, too, because you have kids of like all ages. So the processing of something so hard is different at all of those ages. Oh, verse does not give a shit. Um, but that's first for you. He's very nonchalant. And Rio and Valley are just, they're trying. And then also like, I'm having a hard time with like, what do you do with the dog bed, right? Like he died on this bed. He slept on this bed. He, this is the only bed he had that he didn't tear up, you know? Like, it's right.
Starting point is 00:16:15 Like when they pass away, like when is too soon to get rid of something, right? I mean, I have his dog crate that he hasn't gone in in like three years, maybe four years. So I was going to just put that at the top of the driveway and hope someone like takes it and uses it. And maybe the like dog bowls. but like the bed, how am I going to part with a dog? Like, I can't, I want to save it. But like, should I have cremated it with him? Should I, what do I do?
Starting point is 00:16:44 I think it's more common with older men who wear like dress shirts and stuff. People who have lost older men in their life, they will like cut those dress shirts up and make it into like a memory quilt or whatever. Like maybe you could cut a piece of the dog bed off and like make it into a pitcher frame. or like shadow box or like something like that. That's a great idea. I'm going to look on Etsy and see because to your point, actually watched, actually saw it on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:17:14 A woman, she was just buying fabric. It wasn't like meaningful or anything. She was buying it and she was putting it in picture frames and then putting the picture frame picture over top of the fabric and then putting the glass in the frame. That's a great idea. I wonder if I could do that with like a picture of Buddha.
Starting point is 00:17:30 Oh my God. I never, I promise you guys, I know that we've joked about me getting a bird. I know we've joked about the farm animals, but I promise you right here and now I'm not getting another animal inside my home. Probably don't want to get one for the farm either because the vet also said that people have to put farm animals down too, which I never, that like never crossed my mind. I didn't even think of that either. And like, I don't think I'd have to put my chickens down, but like my pigs and my goats. I mean, that makes total sense to me, but like, why would we have never thought of that?
Starting point is 00:18:06 I don't know. Like, well, because to be honest, like, I don't know. I just thought farm animals, like, ran away. Yeah, or they just, like, disappear into the abyss. Yeah, like, right? Wait. They don't never really die. They just become one with the earth.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Speaking of dogs and passing away, have you seen that TikTok? I'll have to find it. some woman and she had like the DNA preserved or whatever of her dog before it passed and then essentially reincarnated it and then got a new dog. Have you seen this? Never in my life. I'll have to find the TikTok, but I got invested in this woman because she kind of like left me on a cliffhanger.
Starting point is 00:18:56 It was kind of like watching a true crime. like you're waiting until the next episode. And I mean, she said it was like thousands and thousands and thousands of like over $20,000 to do this. Save the DNA, like waited years. I don't know how they got the DNA in someone else. It basically sounded like IVF for a dog. Does that make sense? That's kind of weird.
Starting point is 00:19:21 And if people are doing that for animals, like I'm telling you right now, I never want to come back in this life. Like once I'm gone, do not resuscitate, do not bring me back. Do not clone me? Do not, I do not want to come back. I do what? I want to come back as a bird. I'm most terrified of birds, truly. Like, I do not really like birds to tell you the truth.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Now, like the kind of bird that you were going to get is like a different scenario. That's more of like a pet. Birds outside in the sky freak me out. But I feel like you would know so much. you know what I mean? Like, you just hang on a little power line and fly from like tree to tree and you can look in people's houses. Like you can be a peeping Tom. Like you can know everything that's going on. What is the purpose of doing all of that if you can't gossip about it on a podcast? I would probably be pretending that I had my own podcast, but I wouldn't know any different.
Starting point is 00:20:19 You know what I mean? And like, do you ever think of birds, birds are fascinating to me because I'm, I thought about this when we had our like snow and ice days. Do you think that they have friends and they like talk? Yes. Because I see the same birds and like people are going to say that I'm crazy, but I see the same birds in my yard pretty much every day. Like there's a cardinal. There's a bluebird and it always comes and it's the exact same one.
Starting point is 00:20:47 It says yes, many bird species form complex, long term social bonds that closely resemble friendships. Wow. They choose specific companions for foraging, roosting, and mutual protection with species like ravens, parrots, and starlings demonstrating strong social preferences and in some case recognizing individual partners. That's really cool. I would not. I don't want to come back. I don't want to be reincarnated. I don't want to come back in any way, shape, or form. If you were like on this earth, but as something else, like not a human, what would you be? I would be an otter. I would be. I would be. a shark or a wolf, probably a wolf. Why? I don't know. They're just fascinating to me, both of them. I just read a book about wolves.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Once there were wolves by Charlotte McConaughey. If you're interested, it was really fascinating. And it was about like the study of the wolves. And I mean, that wasn't the story, right? But like it was like the subplot maybe. I don't even know if I were used that word. And then I also read unwanted by Mia Sheridan, which also tells a story of wolves. kind of, they're so fucking fascinating.
Starting point is 00:21:57 And then sharks, because I think I would be at the top of the hierarchy of sharks. It's very interesting. See, I would want to be an otter because I think they have lifetime mates. Do you know penguins cheat on each other? Wait, what? They're like supposed to be monogamous, but they like end up cheating and there's like quarrels over the cheating. How did you know that? I saw it on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:22:22 Were you one of those people that, watch Discovery Channel when you were a little kid. My mom didn't have cable. So what'd you do? I lined up my stuffed animals and played teacher. Oh. I had a classroom inside my room. I used to play teacher at my grandparents' house and also waitress.
Starting point is 00:22:45 And I would charge my siblings for me to be their waitress. And my granddaddy got free service. Wait, I shouldn't make my kids do that. Be like, okay, everyone, every one, every. single night for dinner, one of the kids is serving everyone so they can understand what it is like and how to treat people in customer service. One thousand percent. Wait, completely changing the subject. What is this about merch that you want to have a conversation with me about? Merch? Yeah. You said that you wanted to talk about merch. I did. Yeah. Did you forget? Oh, I just wanted to mention that we have
Starting point is 00:23:24 new Valentine's Day drop. And, oh, there goes my stomach. This is one of them, the Kitty Gang merch that we have. And then we have this little, we love the little kitty. It's so cute. I think that actually, since we've been on this recording, I don't know if you heard my doorbell ring and then the knock, but I'm pretty sure that was my yes from you. That was the merch.
Starting point is 00:23:53 The what? The UPS package from you that is merch. Okay, well, so there's merch. There's coffee convo's merch coming to you, but there's also a PR box from me to you. Would love to get your filmed reaction when you open it. So it's a smaller box from me, and then the bigger box is the merch. Got it. Okay, well, I will let you know and I will send you a video.
Starting point is 00:24:21 Okay, so you said that there are, was a lawsuit that was going on with Roblox. And that's so deep because I didn't understand how dangerous it was until I read it. I created a little album in my phone so that I could screenshot things to talk about on the podcast. And so I'm just scrolling, doom scrolling. And I see this thing on TikTok and it's a woman saying, just a reminder from an attorney. She is an attorney.
Starting point is 00:24:49 Roblox is being sued for sex trafficking and child sex abuse. Roblox allegedly new children could be contacted by predators posing as avatars but failed to put adequate safeguards in place. So Roblox knew this and didn't protect the children. Parents check in with your kids, review chats and friendless and trust your instincts. As always, DM me if you have concerns or need lawyer referrals and consults. And so I said that because my kids are on Roblox and Lincoln looks at me and he goes, yeah, mom, you didn't know that. So like my son knew that there was a lawsuit before I did. And that's obviously really concerning.
Starting point is 00:25:27 Lincoln doesn't really get on Roblox like that. But I know Lux has. I know Creed has. I know Elliott has. I mean, they're not like regular players. But I was concerned because I also know so many other moms whose kids are on Roblox. And like not for nothing, you hear Roblox and you're like, oh, it's just like a kid's game.
Starting point is 00:25:46 You know what I mean? Like you don't think anything of it. So now you have to verify your age. with a selfie that moves is one of the things that they're being in place. Yeah, like you have to, they do have safeguards in place now, but it's like the fact that they knew and they didn't do anything about it ahead of time is really concerning. All right, y'all, if you have ever slept on a mattress that feels like it was designed exactly for you, that's how I feel whenever I ordered the Lisa Legend Chill hybrid mattress. I do know that there are ways to disable certain features on Roblox.
Starting point is 00:27:45 Okay. I don't think Jackson has the chat feature on his Roblox. that we'll figure out how to disable that part. But when you told me about this, I looked up and it says Cook County lawsuit against Roblox alleges gaming platform exposes children to sexual predators. It says Roblox reaches some 85 million children a day with half of them under the age of 13. It says, but with that popularity comes risk, dozens of lawsuits have been filed against the company accusing them of creating a platform that makes it easy for president. to target these kids. The latest one filed Wednesday involves a nine-year-old boy in Cook County.
Starting point is 00:28:27 It's one of the country's most popular gaming platforms. On it, users can play any number of games and communicate with friends. But what happens when the person on the other side of this chat is a stranger with ill intent? And a quote, it says, we had a predator come in and say that he was a child of the same age. And this was coming from an attorney like Law Group. It says, and a quote, our nine-year-old client then sent explicit photos of himself of his body to the perpetrator. It says the child's family has now filed what is the latest in the string of lawsuits against Roblox over the last year. They are accusing the company of exposing children to sexual predators in at least one case that led to kidnapping and sexual assault. Yeah, that's not okay with me.
Starting point is 00:29:15 And I just, I don't even know, honestly, Roblox at that point should have been shut down. Do you know what I'm saying like at the point that there are multiple incidences like this it should have been shut down until it was completely rectified possibly even new owners or whatever i don't know what all goes into a company like roblocks but like i mean these are children we're talking we're not talking about adults that can fend for themselves do you know what i'm saying do and i don't care i don't care what people say oh well you shouldn't let your kids play on it without your supervision okay but like you said i mean under 13 i could i feel like i can trust my 12 or 13-year-old to go in the other room and play Roblox.
Starting point is 00:29:54 Like, I should be able to trust them to do that. So to me, like- That you're safe. Yes. So, you know, it is the company's responsibility, in my opinion, to put up safeguards for these children if they want them to be users of set app. And what I find is that these apps become trends, right? So if your friends playing it at school, then you want to play it.
Starting point is 00:30:19 And then, you know, kids don't understand when you say no to something, why you're saying no. And then you don't necessarily really want to get into the conversation of, well, somebody could be sending you nude photos. It's like an adult or whatever. Like, how do you even have that conversation? Yeah. And like explaining predators. Because like when Lincoln looked at me and told me that he knew already, obviously, Lux and Creed were around. And it's like, I don't know how to explain what's a predator, you know, who.
Starting point is 00:30:49 a five and eight year old you know what i mean so it's kind of creating i mean i had to figure it out and it was challenging but it's this shouldn't be something that we have to worry about i mean this has really been going on since the internet if you think about it because back when we had like dial up you had to listen to it was like like you know dialing up how did it go like you just like heard the internet like dialing to somewhere and they had the aOL chat rooms remember that Yeah, when I finally got a computer that was 100 years old, I was in these random chat rooms just to chat. I never had AIM until it wasn't cool anymore. So wait, but like what were y'all chatting about in the chat rooms?
Starting point is 00:31:31 Because I was never going in the chat rooms. I went in the chat room once and it was like a Yahoo chat room. And when I tell you guys that the computer was like 100 years old, it was so old. And it would always like just like force quit on me. So I would be in the middle of the chat room. You can't ever get back to those same people. and someone said they were from the UK. And I was like, where's that?
Starting point is 00:31:51 And he goes, are you fucking serious? And then he just got off. And I like didn't know. I was like, I've never had chat on. Like, help me out. I don't know what's going on. But why when the internet became the internet, did anyone think that it was normal for children to be in chat rooms with people that we don't know?
Starting point is 00:32:12 Oh, nobody knew I was doing that. No, I know. But like, it's the same thing as Roblox. like to some degree. Like, why are you private chatting with fucking strangers? Listen, that's why my kids don't have iPads because if they have like, I don't truly now, I don't even know, like, do you, can you just play Roblox on any device? Um, phone, what's up?
Starting point is 00:32:37 I know specifically Jackson has it on his iPad and his phone. Okay. How terrifying. I actually need to read you, uh, text. message string that came through today. Okay, number one, how do we feel about our kids taking their cellular device to school? I let them. I let my kids take it to school. I know high school, I think is like harder. Like nobody's going to, let me not say nobody. I'm never going to send my kid to school without a phone in high school because you just don't know what goes on. And after the incident where Elliott was assaulted and I didn't find out from the school directly. I found out
Starting point is 00:33:21 from my nephew. I told you this. I will never not do that again. So I let Lincoln and Elliot both take their phones. Lincoln, unfortunately, because of his grade, he has to keep it in his backpack. But at least it's there. If he needs to call, he can ask his teacher, hey, can I call my mom? Or hey, can I text my mom this really quick? Like, there's one time he forgot. I had signed a form and he left it on the counter. And I guess his teacher let him text. me to bring it or whatever. Cool. Love that. But why do you not want Jackson to bring his phone to school? It's just interesting because I was at like the local watering hole not too long ago and I had gone to get like one of their lunch specials. And this was back when teachers were already like out of school
Starting point is 00:34:05 for the holiday break and the conversation came up about how some of these teachers felt about cell phones in the classroom and being allowed into the school building. And I understand why some of them would feel that it's not necessary to have a cell phone at school and it just creates a distraction. Like, I get that. But at the same time as a parent, there have been multiple incidents like just this year alone, like Jackson's bus catching on fire. I don't know if you remember me telling you that. But like his bus called on fire and had he not had his cell phone, he wouldn't have been able to contact me to let me know what was going on because Will and I were standing at the bus stop and it was like an hour late and we're like, where's our kid?
Starting point is 00:34:49 And so I was able to go on and see his location in another neighborhood. And then he contacts me and he's like, we had to emergency evacuate like our bus was on fire. So for reasons like that and then there was like a code read at the school one time. And of course we get the alerts like to our emails pretty quickly that there's a code read at the school. and he was able to text me to let me know like, hey, everything's okay. And I felt more comfortable being able to have the direct contact with my child. Teachers don't love it. I know that there's some type of, they were talking about how there's like some type of law where kids aren't going to be able to take the phones to school anymore. I don't know how much truth there is to that. I know Texas already has a statewide law that you cannot use your phone in school, which I do under like it's a double edge.
Starting point is 00:35:39 sword because I do understand the consequences of like the kids having their phones and how their distraction and cheating and this and that. But like with how much how many incidents are occurring regularly the same way Jackson's bus caught on fire. Remember Elliot's got into a car a bus accident last year and I literally was the first one on the scene at like 6.15 a.m. Like also Elliot getting beat up. If my nephew didn't have a phone to call his dad and for his dad to call me, what the fuck do you know what I'm saying so it's like there's too many incidences for that to for their not to be allowed phones and but I like I do get it like I understand the frustration with the phones but at the same time it's like you can't sit here and expect them to have
Starting point is 00:36:25 Chromebooks because did you know what they're doing with the Chromebooks? Yeah. Aren't they like making documents and then like communicating through the documents? Because on like Google sheets and Google Drive and stuff, you can see people's what they're typing in real time. So they're just distracted on their Chromebooks. But the Chromebooks to me is a problem too. I wish they would just take the Chromebooks. I prefer like my kids don't even know how to study out of a textbook.
Starting point is 00:36:52 Like Lincoln came home and he was like talking about, you know, not having school or whatever and needing to do assignments, but like they don't know how to study out of a textbook. Everything is online. But we're not processing that type of information. Like I can't study from a computer. I won't even take online classes because it's so hard for me to navigate. I want to physically go sit down in a classroom and I want to learn the shit and I want to take notes. That's how I learn best.
Starting point is 00:37:17 So like I don't, you can't have it both ways. You can't say, yep, here's a Chromebook, but no, you can't have your phone. Because the argument that I was going to bring up to, it's like if it's just going to be no technology, just let it be no technology, not pick and choose what we're going to allow and what we're not. So interesting that you say about the textbooks because Jackson, to my knowledge, unless they have textbooks like in the classroom that they're using, he's never brought a textbook home. The only books that ever come home are like books where if they visited a library or something, like that will come home. But there is no textbook. And I also learn that way too.
Starting point is 00:37:56 Like everything was like pen and paper, a physical textbook. I feel like you can learn so much better that I'm touching it. and everything is on like canvas or whatever and they have to go through all of these modules to get all of like the writing material and stuff like that. I have like a love-hate relationship with it because I do think that it's preparing them for the real world when they get out there and they're in a job and they're having a sheer documents and like stuff like that. I get it for those purposes.
Starting point is 00:38:28 I just don't see how it's necessarily as effective of learning. Jackson will get an actual. physical paper. So let's say it's like multiple choice. And he'll get a physical paper for math and he fills it out. But then for the grading part, he has to go and put like those answers from that physical paper into canvas and submit it. But here's the thing though. Like, and obviously this is no shade to the teachers because keep in mind they don't create the curriculum themselves. Right. Like they buy it usually, I think. Don't quote me on that. What is the, purpose of the Chromebooks, if they're not actively learning how to do literal spreadsheets and literal
Starting point is 00:39:12 MLA format and literal research, if they're not actively learning how to do those types of things that would help them in the real world, they're not really benefiting anyone in any way because you're just going on a website, picking out a book, reading it and answering the questions, okay, great, you could do that on paper too. That's not really teaching them anything. I need them. If they're going to be on a Chromebook, the whole purpose, in my opinion, for the spreadsheet or the Chromebook part of it, is to learn skills that would help them in the real world. Otherwise, the Chromebook is useless. Coffee Convo's podcast is brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Physically responsible, financial geniuses, monetary magicians. Because Progressive offers discounts for paying and full, owning a home and more, plus. you can count on their great customer service to help you when you need it. So your dollar goes a long way. Visit progressive.com to see if you could save on car insurance. Progressive casualty insurance company and affiliates, potential savings will vary. Not available in all states or situations. Oh, Jackson doesn't use any of the school issued electronic devices.
Starting point is 00:40:26 I don't know how your county is, but they are permitted to be able to bring like an iPad in lieu of the Chromebook. if they want to work on, I guess, like, Safari or, you know, whatever it is, like they're used to Apple. They're permitted to be able to bring an outside device into the school other than the school issued Chromebook. I personally prefer that. I know somebody whose child, I mean, they're getting issued Chromebooks in our county, I think, all the way as early as kindergarten or first grade. And these kids are breaking these Chromebooks and then owe in hundreds of dollars to the school. Creed's in kindergarten and he doesn't have one. So I believe in our district, it's starts in first grade. But I said that because Valley kept picking up Lux's Chromebook the other day,
Starting point is 00:41:09 because we haven't had school for three days. And she kept picking up his laptop. And I said, come get this laptop, this Chromebook because it's going to get broken. But I didn't, I actually don't know if we're permitted. If we are, I'm going to, I am probably going to switch them out because I've already found some random kids charger. I'm assuming it got mixed up with either Lux's or Lincoln. So I had to put it in a Ziploc bag and send it back to the school. But like, that means somebody else has one of my kids like I don't want to be responsible and I told them I said if one of these gets broken I'm not paying for it so you guys better figure it out well so the whole reason that I brought up the phones at school was because Jackson was texting Will and I in a group chat at like 10 o'clock this morning so on my mind like it's not my parenting day but I know when he has school and when he doesn't and I know it's he's supposed to be at school so I'm like how was he group texting us. Yeah. Well, then Will sends a screenshot of his conversation with Jackson, and this is what's going on on this conversation. Proof LeBron doesn't know ball, I cook you on the reg so much so that
Starting point is 00:42:18 you stopped playing me. That's what Will says to Jackson. Like, while he's at school, I cook you on the reg. Jackson responds, I am your owner. No, no, no, Lindsay, how? Lindsay, how? I have. out. Like what, how, how do you deal with them? I would freaking lose it. So then I would hook you on the reg. And then he says, I'm your owner. Like, I would lose my mind. I just like can't. And then a couple minutes later, as if it wasn't like enough, number one, why are we communicating while you're at school? Like, go do your schoolwork. I will have a conversation with you when you get home. Then he says, what have you done to my iPad? and he starts sending screenshots of TikTok exceeding your age rating and how he can't go onto the app. So I'm sitting here and I'm like, why are you all arguing back and forth?
Starting point is 00:43:15 And it's probably some type of like firewall or whatever they call it to where you can't get on certain apps while you're at school. And I'm like, why are you trying to watch basketball videos while you're at school? And this is why they say you can't have devices. I love Jackson and Will so much. And they hardly even know who I am. And that is so funny to me. Like the way that Lincoln and Jackson would get along so well. I know.
Starting point is 00:43:46 Even Lux, because Lux can keep up. They would have so much fun. Like they would just, it would be a riot. I wish that we were neighbors so that our kids could run them up. So I just respond to this. Like, I see this shit going on in the group chat. And I'm like, none of this involves me. Like, I didn't sign up.
Starting point is 00:44:05 You know, on this morning at 10 a.m. So I said, what's going on with LeBron? Jack Rose doesn't matter. Wait. Like, why are you involving me? Time out. Time out in the game. Okay.
Starting point is 00:44:22 Hold up because this brings me, I wasn't, I don't think it was on this sheet. Oh, fuck. You put it on there. that 50 cents says he's coming for LeBron next. Yes. 50 cents said he was coming for LeBron next. I don't know. So let me see if I have it in my screenshot.
Starting point is 00:44:39 I literally, I told you I created a little, because I'm like, I don't want to forget these topics. 50 cent tweeted LeBron and said, Hey, yo, LeBron, stop acting like you innocent, you next. And it ain't about basketball champ. And that was a long time ago, but it like resurfaced. So that tweet specifically, allegedly, was from 50 cent to LeBron October 26, 2023, which means there's stuff in the vault between 50 cent and LeBron James. I mean, I really wish to some degree that we could get as petty as 50 cent.
Starting point is 00:45:16 I mean, it's in time the amount of stress that I feel like would come along with that level of pettiness is just not what I'm signing up for for the rest of 2026. I'll sign up for 50 cent to do a docu series, but it won't be about me. It'll be me as the victim. Speaking of victim, and it wasn't funny because I don't even know why I just fucking laughed. The update on Idaho 4. Oh, my God. Okay. So yesterday I was in bed.
Starting point is 00:45:46 I literally, I don't think I got out of bed until I showered at like 6 p.m. I finally got out of bed to shower at 6 p.m. And so this woman comes on my screen and she's talking about how there is a little bit of an update and some revelations in the Idaho Idaho four case. And yes, I understand that we have Brian Coburger. He's in prison and, you know, his sister has come forward. So justice is supposed to be being served. However, in this new revelation, they were saying that essentially Brian Coburger did in fact see Dylan close her door. Like they made eye contact, but Brian Koberger physically could not attack another person.
Starting point is 00:46:28 He was exhausted. He did not expect Zana to put up the fight that she put up. And so stabbing someone is, takes a huge toll on someone's body, right? Like, it's exhausting. I don't even know how he did what he did with the four people that he did kill. You know what I mean? You know what I mean? In such a, I think they said it was like under 15 minutes, right?
Starting point is 00:46:49 he did make allegedly make eye contact with Dylan but could not physically attack her and um he just didn't expect Lana to put up a fight like she did and maybe if she didn't put up a fight maybe he could have attacked Dylan but I was just blown away but so that actually piqued my interest more to say that like obviously Dylan saw and knew more than what they expected and just hearing all the recordings that have been coming out since um Brian's sentencing and stuff has sort of been concerning because clearly Bethany and Dylan did know more than they led on and they very much knew that something was not great and they waited until and I get it. Some people are arguing, well, even if they called the police sooner, they wouldn't have survived. But that's not the point.
Starting point is 00:47:34 No, I know. Like, I believe it was Dylan early on when the reports came out that she had identified the person wearing what black with bushy eyebrows or like a ski mask or like a ski mask or or something like that. And I don't know if you remember this, but I always had the question of if she got that good of a look of him, then he had to have gotten a look of her. Yep. But I think because he had the ski mask on,
Starting point is 00:48:03 he kind of knew that he could identify him. She could just describe what she saw. But I think he was, I agree, that makes so much sense now. It's like he physically could not. I mean, could you imagine stabbing four people to death?
Starting point is 00:48:17 And then you see another one. one's wide awake and now you have to make the decision of like should I stab her or should I go. Well, and probably for him, I believe that he thought he was way smarter and I've always said this. I think he thought he was way smarter than what he actually was. But you can't convince me that he didn't know how many roommates actually lived in that house. So if he's already got four, which I guess Ethan wasn't technically a roommate. He's already got four. And then he sees Dylan.
Starting point is 00:48:52 If he had done his research, he would know that there was still another roommate that could be existing there at that time. The risk of him attacking her, even if he was in a state to where he could, I just don't think he would take the risk. I'm with you. Like, he's got him out. He may not have known that Ethan was there. I'm under the impression that he probably didn't. unless like he would not have prepared for Ethan or Zana at all like he might not have prepared for Ethan like Ethan at all and then Zana won to be awake and be evict like I think he went in for
Starting point is 00:49:32 his two targets originally and then Zana and Ethan were both surprises for him and then Zana put up the fight that she put up so part of me just believes that Kaylee was the target and that he was not expected you mean um Maddie Madison was the target. Everyone thought it was Kaylee, but it was Madison. It was Madison. So he, he went in for Madison. I don't think that he expected that Madison and Kaylee would be in. I agree. And so I think that that's possibly how it went south. And then Zana and Ethan or just one of them heard what was going on and then maybe went outside their room. Then he had to do it to them. Yep. I agree with you. Speaking of true crime stuff, though, I don't know if you have watched Witness to a murder digital evidence on Hulu. I haven't even heard of it.
Starting point is 00:50:28 So I actually just finished watching it over the weekend. And the amount of like different crimes, because every episode follows like a different story. Okay. And it shows you like how they're using digital evidence. to solve these crimes. And so- Digital evidence. Like your,
Starting point is 00:50:51 like your web footprint, or what is it called? Your digital footprint. Yeah. So like using cell towers, using Fitbits, using like all of these different types of devices to, they used on one of these episodes,
Starting point is 00:51:12 they used a Nintendo Switch. So it was like this professor, that worked at a college, was supposed to have a class, didn't show up. Multiple people from the university went out essentially to do like a welfare check on him because it wasn't normal for him not to show up for a class. Realize that the back door is ajar, go in, see that he's dead. And they eliminated that it was like any type of like robbery or anything like that because there was money that was left.
Starting point is 00:51:45 There were devices that were left. There was his cell phone was left. But the one thing that was missing was a Nintendo Switch. So they were able to use where that Nintendo Switch, because the box was left there for the Nintendo Switch. So they had all the information on it. And they were able to use like where that Nintendo Switch connected to the next Wi-Fi. And that's what led them to the killer.
Starting point is 00:52:13 That is so smart. Isn't that crazy? Well, but people are stupid to think that that's not possible when we're literally, even years and years ago, people were tracking cell towers and where things were pinging. Like, do you remember the Skyler-Nyson case? I told you about years ago. Yeah. The three best friends were driving.
Starting point is 00:52:33 I think it was between like Pennsylvania and West Virginia and then they were able to track the cell phone towers and everything. And then Brian Coburger, same thing. it's like you guys have to be fucking idiots to think that your technology can't be tracked, especially if you like register like some of the, I don't know, like I don't ever register my electronics, but like I think you can register them for like warranties and stuff like that. And so like there's digital footprints everywhere. I think even like just like going to the store for a purchase, I think can be tracked.
Starting point is 00:53:04 You know what I mean? Oh, it was. Like if you watch this show, it'll show you like where they were able to track. like, you know, some cars have like On Star or something like in there. So they're able to track like the vehicle to a parking lot. And then they take the timestamps of the vehicle being in that parking lot and then go to like, let's say it's Walmart. Go to Walmart. And then they get all of their footage. And then they're able to see the person in the store like at the checkout. And then they're able to follow like credit card transactions and stuff like that. Like this one situation was crazy. So this man and. They were like husband and wife. They had been separated for 11 months. Their divorce was supposed to be finalized the following month. It was something with like insurance or maybe they had like a pre-up or something like that,
Starting point is 00:53:54 that he would be able to get all of the assets if she was dead. So she goes to like this workout after work. She worked at the police department. She goes to a workout after work, goes to a Walmart or grocery store or something. something like that, comes back home, car in the driveway doesn't show up at work the next day. So the police department sends, you know, officers out there, they hit the front of the car to see if it had been hot. It was like freezing cold.
Starting point is 00:54:27 Backdoor is a jar. Go in. Find blood absolutely everywhere. So they start questioning all these people and it goes through like every person that could be a potential suspect, like they're going through it on the show. and then they get to the ex-husband and find like his Fitbit activity, her Fitbit activity, phone records where he had turned his phone off during the time of like when she would have been murdered. And then they found fingernail clippings from where he had abandoned,
Starting point is 00:55:03 he abandoned his personal car in a Walmart parking lot and took the tags off of it, thinking that nobody's ever going to find it and find her fingernail clippings because she scratched his face. So he caught her fingernails after he killed her. And the DNA was in the car. Okay. But there's just like not really a way to get away with murder at this point. Because if you think about it, even when like detectives can see when you turn your phone off. So I know in the past we've been like, oh, this moron left their phone on. You're supposed to turn it off. Like you and I have both said it. But you can also tell when you turn your phone off. So maybe leave it at home, leave it on.
Starting point is 00:55:44 Yep. Like what do you? And all the ring doorbells that are out there these days. And like, like even this content house, I have cameras outside. I have cameras in the garage. I have cameras everywhere. So it's like even if someone was breaking in next door, like you could see. Your camera could catch it.
Starting point is 00:56:02 You remember Chris Watts where it was like neighbors ring cameras were catching somebody moving stuff into like the, um, from the garage into his truck and stuff like that. It's like, why are you risking it? It's just so insane to me. I can't remember you and I talked about like how many cameras were within like a certain amount of miles. Remember when we talked about that? With ring doorbells and all the technology that we have and everything is tracked, whether you want it to be or not, it's tracked. You're not going to get away with it. Will told me one time that if he was going to kill him, tell me he would use the ice pick because it would melt. I actually read a book like that.
Starting point is 00:56:44 And it was like murder in the wintertime in the snow because the snow melted and then the evidence was mostly gone. That's actually terrifying. But even still, if he used an ice pick in the snow, Lindsay, somebody's ring camera is picking it up. So rest assured that I will find him. Oh my God. Wait.
Starting point is 00:57:03 Okay. So when I was watching this show, I sent a text to Alessandra and I was like, hey, grab glass of wine and turn this on like it's a goody. And then I sent her a screenshot of this article. It was from People Magazine. And the headline was, and I'm not going to go into the whole details, but it says, senior pilot allegedly punched first officer in cockpit after argument over speeding on runway at LAX. And I said, that's absolutely me and kill. Wait, punched or hunched? Punched. The co-pilot punched the pilot. Yeah. And, the cockpit after an argument of speeding on the runway. I said that's not funny, but it's funny.
Starting point is 00:57:44 Like, why did he punch him? Like what? Punch you. He wouldn't actually if I start speeding and you don't agree with it. I feel like you'd just clock me. Yeah, I would just clock you. Like, I will never forget of all car rides of my life. You driving from Houston to Dallas during the live shows. Like, I quite literally wanted to slap you in the side of the face with my cheese cassidia. Wait, you never told me this. What was wrong with my driving? In the back seat because you were just like flying down the road.
Starting point is 00:58:19 You're like, oh, we got to get to Dallas fast. I'm like. I was tired, Lindsay. Like we were driving in the middle of the night. I know, but that's even more of a reason not speeding. And like I had Taco Bell in the back and I'm trying to like put hot sauce on my shit and you're just like flying the fuck down the road. Like I'm going to slap this.
Starting point is 00:58:36 bitch with my cassidy if she does not slow down. I just want to tell you that I also emailed the agency this morning and was like, hey guys, could you get a couple more live tour dates on the calendar for me? So I hope you're prepared. Living life on the edge during tour is a great time. I guess not for Lindsay. She was ready to punch me in the face. Yeah, I'm like, if this bitch does not slow down because what is the purpose of going
Starting point is 00:59:01 that fast on the freeway when we might not get there based on these driving? skills. I'm pretty sure I was going just, just the speed limit. You know what I mean? So, and it was Texas. So I was like, we're good, you know? And so we made it. And then I think I was just so tired. What time did we even get to from, we drove from Houston to Dallas in the middle of the night. I think we got there at like three in the morning. Yeah, it was like 3 a.m. And we had to be up by 6 or 7. So it was, I was tired. And I was like, the faster we get there, the faster I can sleep. Mm-hmm. Well, we're going to be like big back university like on our tour. So I have to tell you guys, I am desperately trying to get some tour dates on the books.
Starting point is 00:59:50 They're going to be a little bit fewer and far between because we're not in the same position that we were in 2024. And so I have to be very strategic about the weekends and like what weekends I have my kids versus don't. And so a lot of them are going to be. probably East Coast. I don't know that we'll make it really anywhere else. And Lindsay, I hope will come on whatever one she can make it to. So that'll be really fun. And so, yeah, I'm just trying to get some stuff on the books.
Starting point is 01:00:19 Like, I'm trying to go back on tour. I am really excited and you'll have to keep us updated. I also saw this thing when I was like scrolling through Facebook. You know, it's like screen grabs of like magazine headlines, right? And it's Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. And I related to this quote so much. And I know that you will too. It says, I see pictures of Glenn and I on social media that I really go, that looks so real.
Starting point is 01:00:45 But I don't know. I don't even own that shirt or whose car is that? No, because I somebody. It's AI. No, it's AI. But like, I see them a lot on Facebook more than Facebook and TikTok. And it'll be like a picture of me and a whole paragraph of like basically quoting me. And it's like, I literally never seen that.
Starting point is 01:01:08 Yes. And they're all of me. And I've seen so many. It's like these long paragraph quoting me. And I never said that. It's concerning because people believe that those things are real. And I'm like, I can't, I don't have time for another scandal that is not real. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:01:24 Like, I don't, I'm not doing damage control. Listen, the scandal's got to get over. You know what I mean? Yeah, they do. We do not have foul play this week. but we do have an email that was sent to us. And I want to read it. It says, hi, Kiel and Lindsay.
Starting point is 01:01:41 I've been listening to the pod back since you launched 2017, 2018, and y'all have got me through some crazy times in my life. Toxic relationships, breakups, friend fallouts to now becoming a stepmom. I'm looking for some advice on how to approach co-parenting situation. For the most part, my stepkid's mom has been problem-free for me personally during the step-parenting journey. but she makes my boyfriend's life extremely difficult. We all do the pickups and drop-offs 30-ish minutes there and back, and she never meets us halfway, which is fine if there was some compromise surrounding other issues.
Starting point is 01:02:15 For context, my boyfriend and I have been together for two years, and he has been divorced from his ex-wife going on six. She left him, which is why I'm confused as to why she continues to make his life difficult. She speaks negatively about my boyfriend to the children and discusses their co-parenting issues with my 13 and 11-year-old stepkids. so much so that they have both approached my boyfriend asking questions about child support, scheduling, and other adult concerns. She also puts communication of scheduling on the children because she refuses to communicate with my boyfriend directly. Overall, we choose to let her be
Starting point is 01:02:47 this way to avoid further conflict. We never speak bad about her mom on our side and we try to be age appropriate, open and honest when we can with the kids. We don't live together right now but are making plans to do so and I'm concerned with how her actions are going to impact our home and our schedule going forward. I've thought about reaching out to her in the future and extend my support as a united front for the kids and advise her that she can come to me if she would prefer not to speak to my boyfriend when it pertains to the kids. But I am worried that it will feel like I'm attacking her.
Starting point is 01:03:17 Any advice would be greatly appreciated sincerely a stepmom just trying to do the right thing. This one's tough because I also go through this with Lux and Creed. Lux knows entirely too much and it's not from my end. And so I then have to like speak to him at an age appropriate way, in an age appropriate way. Unfortunately, I think the moral of this whole thing is like you're never going to be able to control someone else's actions. And it doesn't matter what you do this person to her point, like the other parent, the bio mom feeling like it's an attack could actually make it, it could make it worse. I would almost just basically leave it alone and let you, you cannot control what she. she does. So just let it go. If you try to do anything to make it better, it could make it worse. And if you
Starting point is 01:04:04 don't want it to get worse, I wouldn't risk it. That's my advice. I love your advice and wish that I could be the person that could take advice like that. But if this was my situation, I would heed the warning and get out because it's probably never going to change. Oh, oh, oh, you mean for like the stepmom to remove herself? Okay. I can see that also. I just mean if she's going to stay. Yeah. Yeah. But to the point, Like if it was me, I would leave the unfortunately leave the relationship. And that's not fair to the relationship or the kids. Because it's like if you as a stepmom have a really great relationship with those kids, it's not anything they did.
Starting point is 01:04:38 But like if this doesn't feel like it's going to get any better, that's also. It's like you're signing up to tread water basically the rest of those kids' life. And like for me, I couldn't do it. I don't have a toxic divorce situation. I don't need to deal with somebody else's. Yeah. I get that. mean. Yep.
