Starting point is 00:00:00 I hate gift giving and receiving. Receiving gifts is so weird. What do you say, thank you? This is Coffee Convos with Kale Lowry and Lindsay Chrisley. I really want you to be in your feels, Kale. That does not interest me whatsoever. I feel very attacked by you. A spirited discussion about motherhood, friendship,
Starting point is 00:00:16 family, and life in the public eye. I'm just not with the fakery anymore. There's a fakery bakery around here. Here's Kale and Lindsay. All right, so we have so many new listeners compared to when we first started Coffee Combos podcast. So as we enter the new year, we wanted to throw it all the way back on this fine Thursday. We hope you love and actually laugh at our first episode ever.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Hey, everybody, welcome to Coffee Combos. This is Lindsay Chrisley with my co-host, Kayl Lowry. Hey guys. We are doing our first ever podcast. We are going to introduce the show to you guys and tell you everything that we're gonna kind of talk about and cover on our podcast. We don't even know where it's gonna go cause there's so many ideas about what we wanna talk about
Starting point is 00:01:00 and we come from completely different backgrounds but we kind of have similar views and opinions on some things and I'm just excited to be able to talk to you on this platform. It's different than reality TV, you know? Absolutely. So, my background is from Chris Lee Knows Best on USA Network and I'll just tell you a little bit about myself. I got married very young at 22 years old. I was a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a
Starting point is 00:01:26 little bit of a little bit of little bit of a little bit of little bit of a little bit of little bit of a little bit of little bit of a little bit of little bit of a little bit of little bit of a little bit of little bit of a little bit of

Starting point is 00:01:37 little bit of a little bit of little bit of a little bit of of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little
Starting point is 00:01:39 bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit I was pregnant by Mother's Day, so I kind of was venturing out into the world as a 22-year-old married, pregnant college graduate lady. And then we started doing reality TV,
Starting point is 00:01:55 and so it was all kind of thrown at me at once. So I kind of feel like at 28 years old that I am just kind of finding my place in the world. Everything's kind of settled down for me. My little boy is about to be five and life is just settling down a little bit more than 22-year-old Lindsay. I mean, I feel like my story is a little bit similar in the aspects of like everything thrown at us at once.
Starting point is 00:02:22 I found myself pregnant in high school and then had to go on to college and then in college took a little bit longer than I anticipated it to take, but kind of got thrown into reality TV as well. So I got married when I was 20 and now I'm 25, divorced, and trying to figure out what's next for me and what the future looks like for myself as a single mom of three boys. So I don't know, I'm excited because Lindsay, we are both boy moms, so we kind of can relate
Starting point is 00:02:52 on that level too. So it's more than just reality TV and being single. And I have so much like mom stuff to talk about just being a boy mom. I mean, I don't know about like the girl stuff at all. I mean, when I even shop for birthday parties and stuff, like I have to text somebody for advice, like what do you get a 12 year old girl? Yeah, I have no idea. Yeah, like I don't even know. Like I don't even know how to buy a Barbie or like what to do. My favorite question. Go ahead. Go ahead. Like I could buy any, send me to the boy out
Starting point is 00:03:27 and I'm like a pro. Oh yeah. But send me to the girl out, no idea. Oh, my favorite question is when people ask me like, what's it like to be a mom of boys? And I'm like, okay, well my house will forever smell like dirty socks and the toilet seats will always be left lifted up.
Starting point is 00:03:42 So I'm just like, I'm gonna lose my mind for the next 18 years, it's fine, no big deal. And I'm just like, I'm gonna lose my mind for the next 18 years, it's fine, no big deal. And I'm just like, I told Jackson the other day, I said literally, if I find another toilet seat that's left up, I swear, like you're paying me to put the toilet seat down, because it's ridiculous. Like, there is pee everywhere, there is wipeys everywhere that I don't know if they have fecal matter on them or not.
Starting point is 00:04:08 It's just weird stuff that you find in the bathroom. Like I sent Kale a picture of four chapsticks that were like lined up the other day that Jackson had gotten there. Who knows what he did with them and had mixed and match the tops. It's like what exactly goes through their brains? I have no idea. Lindy, just to catch the audience up on everything, I think our audience might be curious about how we met
Starting point is 00:04:35 and how we became friends. Yes. So like, how did we become friends? That's what I'm saying. I don't even know. It's like we live in this crazy world of reality TV and somehow maybe Twitter I don't know. Yeah I think I think Twitter and then like Harvey is a fan of
Starting point is 00:04:53 Chris the show that I was on so I think you know that kind of attributed to it and then yeah I think just like the mutual interest of both being young girls, like on reality TV with kids. Yeah, I mean, I feel like I followed maybe you and your dad on Twitter or something and then, um, I don't, I don't even know. But we are friends and we talk all the time and we text each other about our crazy kids and the stupid things that they do. And the stupid things that they do and the stupid things that they say. And how Jackson, like Jackson and Lincoln are, like they literally need their own show.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Oh, I agree. Jackson this weekend was, like his behavior was atrocious. And when I tell you it was so bad, I wanted to check myself into like the federal penitentiary in Atlanta because it would have been a vacation. Swear to God. I told him that I was, that he was going to military school. Like he's five years old. There is no military school for five year olds, so I blatantly lied. But he believed it.
Starting point is 00:06:04 He believed it. I told him that he was going to be called Cadet Campbell, and no one would even know him as Jackson. I mean, do what you gotta do. And, like, you just have to, like, threaten them, I feel like. But, I mean, he is a very strong, willed child, and I feel like you have that with Lincoln, too, so that's something that we definitely have in common. Oh, yeah. Lincoln's a firecracker for sure. But I actually, I mean as fun as the kids are and to talk about being a mom, I definitely
Starting point is 00:06:30 want to like talk about other things too. We got to, the audience wants to see us outside of being moms, you know, like they only know us as moms from Teen Mom 2 and Chris Lee knows best. I think with that too, it's like people follow you on social media and they feel like they are a part of your life and you do have these social platforms to have people involved in your life and to be able to communicate with your fans on kind of like a more large basis. But people, if they see an individual photo of you, it's like, where's your kid? Or, you know, where's such and such?
Starting point is 00:07:07 Or, you know, why aren't you home? Or why aren't you here? It's like, this is our jobs. This is what we do. Like, I just don't understand. It's not like I'm not with my child 24 seven, but just because I post a photo that doesn't, you know, I post a photo that doesn't maybe resonate
Starting point is 00:07:24 with a particular person. And, particular person and they've got something negative to say about it or whatever. It's like I have more to myself than just being a mom. And I feel like it's taken me 28 years. Well, I mean, since I was basically 23, I've been a mom, but it's taking me until Jackson was almost five years old to realize that I am more than just a mom. Yeah, I think what connects you and me so well is just that we can relate on not only a personal level as like moms, young moms, but also because we are both on reality TV and we can kind of relate in all aspects, you know, we don't really Trust people too much, you know, if we if we don't know them already from separate from like the show
Starting point is 00:08:11 We don't know what people's intentions are We don't know, you know We get on social media and we read comments from crazy people who have a lot of things to say and a lot of negative things to say And so we can relate on those aspects as well. So I don't know, I feel like people... Well, and I feel like you kind of like your friend group changes because unless they were truly like your real friend before, and I don't know about you, but you know, unless someone was truly my real friend before, I don't have a desire or need to be friends with him and that's not saying it in an ugly way, but I don't, if they weren't my real friend before TV, then they aren't my real friend while I was on TV or whatever I'm doing.
Starting point is 00:08:56 I find myself communicating with people, you know, like Kale that have common things in common with also, you know, being on another show. And they kind of know how it is and what the expectation is. And as many people out there that think it's like a gravy train and, you know, everything's so easy, and, you know, it's just all handed, that's not true at all. The amount of work that is put in behind the scenes is astronomical. The amount that is required of you and just personally of you, you find yourself as a woman, I think especially more for girls than it is boys whenever you have any type of, whether it be small or large, any type of public platform, I feel like you find yourself wanting to do things
Starting point is 00:09:48 to make yourself look better. Somebody says, oh, you have an ugly nose, or you are too skinny, or you are too fat, or you are too this, you find yourself getting trapped into that criticism and trying to keep up. It consumes you, yeah, absolutely. I agree. And you think you don't and you think that like you're ignoring all of the negativity, but really there could be a hundred good comments, but if there's one bad one,
Starting point is 00:10:17 you focus on that one bad thing. And I think that's what people get. They don't understand because I've seen comments on Twitter even then it's like, I've said 10 positive things about you and I tweet you one negative thing and they, and you finally respond like way to go. But it's like, I don't, I don't know what it is in us that like makes us gravitate towards reading the negative comments. And then we keep reading the negative comments, but I guess misery loves company.
Starting point is 00:10:42 And that's, they're getting exactly what they want is bringing us down and I feel like we need to focus on trying to be more positive. Well, I think so too. And I think too whenever you find like a friend group that you can kind of that can relate to the type of negativity that you get and you can kind of bounce it off of each other and make it more humorous like this person literally doesn't know me from Adam, but yet they're talking about my tennis shoe. Like stop being such a loser and worrying about my shoes
Starting point is 00:11:14 and worry about what's going on in your own life. Like there's nothing going on in your own life that is more important than talking about my tennis shoe. Like that's weird. Actually, I get criticism a lot for my bad skin and I'm like, I can't help it. I have something exciting to report to you. I can't wait. Over Thanksgiving holiday, we used tons of our Kiwi Co-Crates from my stockpile.
Starting point is 00:11:42 That makes me so happy because those projects are so fun. You know that I have since stolen that idea and just everybody gets Kiwi Co. crates from me that have kids. And it's been really crappy here weather wise for most weekends. And I, you know, kind of makes me happy because I'm getting texts from my mom friends telling me that they're doing all the projects. And I just like when my gifts get used. I absolutely love it. And I love that they have nine different subscription options for
Starting point is 00:12:10 all different ages and subjects. So there's going to be something for every kid. And Jackson just loves when this delivers straight to our door. It's one of his favorite things that we get every single month. I love them. I also just love how convenient it makes doing something at home because everything you need comes in the Kiwi Co. crate. You don't need to go to a bunch of stores to try to get all the supplies to do a project.
Starting point is 00:12:33 And it makes life so much easier on families. I also love that there's no commitment. So you can pause or cancel at any time. And I just feel like with so much technology right now, this really helps spark creative confidence through screen-free fun. It was also designed by experts. So it was designed by a team of educators, makers, engineers, and rocket scientists who brainstorms hundreds of ideas to create the most exciting, age-appropriate educational projects,
Starting point is 00:13:05 and they are real engineering science and art projects with all the high-quality materials that you need. So this is your sign to discover hands-on fun with KiwiCo. Get your first month free on any CrateLine at kiwico.com slash coffee. That's your first month free at kwico.com slash coffee. You texted me earlier about your crock pot recipe and it was something like white chili or something.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Tell me about it. Yeah. So, you know, with our schedules being so busy, I know your schedule is super busy and I'm super busy always on the road. I'm like, my job is a taxi. I'm not like a full-time mom. I'm also full-time taxi. So you know, I like to be able to put a meal on before I leave the house and it cook all day and the crock pot turned itself off super easy. But I had been wanting to try white chicken chili because I freaking hate beef chili.
Starting point is 00:14:05 But what's the white? I don't get it. So it's totally like, it's totally different. So instead of using like, and do you know what like regular chili is? Well, yeah, I think everyone knows what regular chili is, but what's the white part? Okay, so instead of using like all the red stuff, use like white stuff.
Starting point is 00:14:23 So Alfredo sauce. It's no use white stuff. Like Alfredo sauce? No, Kale, it's not Alfredo. It's chicken breast. And then the sauces are half and half and reduced fat cream cheese and it's got corn in there and green chilies. And they're white northern beans instead of like those weird like brown ones that look really sketchy.
Starting point is 00:14:50 Garlic, yellow onion, it's got a bunch of stuff in there. It's really good though, but it kind of, it did take me a little bit of prep time because I had to chop up all of that stuff, but there are grocery stores that have like the pre-chopped stuff if you're like one of those people that like to get all the pre-chopped. But it smells so good and I tried it.
Starting point is 00:15:11 I turned the crock pot off like an hour ago and I tried it and it was probably like one of my favorite things that I made. Does Jackson eat it? Is this a meal that I need to try for my children or is this something that is like adults only? So, I mean, if we're being honest, probably he won't eat it. He would probably eat like the corn off of it, and I could make him, I mean, not the corn.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Like maybe like a little bit of the corn, and then the chicken, and I could make him, you know, like a little bed of rice. But he probably wouldn't eat like the soup, because it's a little spicy. Do your kids like spicy food? Because Jackson acts like. No, my kids don't like anything.
Starting point is 00:15:45 Like Jackson acts like he's got a like massive house fire going on in his mouth if he like tastes anything that's spicy. Yeah, that's my kids too. They're so picky. But I know so many people have asked me for recipes in the past for things that I've cooked, that I've put on Instagram and stuff like that. So I thought that weekly since I've been doing this crock pot thing until further notice, I'm going to give you guys some recipes to try that might be something different than things that you don't cook at home or maybe you might cook it and it might be a better recipe than what I have and I'm open to suggestions too. Well, I'm excited to try this recipe and we can talk about it next week on our podcast.
Starting point is 00:16:27 Yes, you should try it and I'm going to give everyone our Instagram because we can post the recipe on the Instagram and it's just C-O-F-F-E-E-C-O-N-V-O-S podcast P-O-D-C-A-S-T and I will be posting the recipe on there for you guys to try and let me know if you like it or if you don't like it just probably don't tell me but yeah. Just probably don't tell us. I'll try it though. I want my kids to try it too and and I'll let you know what their what their reviews are well I really like making like healthy things like I like to eat healthy. It makes me feel good
Starting point is 00:17:13 I feel like Jackson's a pretty healthy kid eater He eats some weird stuff that like normal kids would probably don't yeah But that's because I eat good so I think it's just routine. But I always hate to see, you know, whenever we go out to dinner, I hate for him to be like, I want chicken nuggets or something like that. It's like, no, like, diversify your palate sign like get something good. That's something I should I was a chicken nugget kid and I think that's why I don't eat so well right now and my kids need to do better. So I think these weekly recipes will help me too
Starting point is 00:17:49 Yes, like and don't you feel bad about yourself that you yeah, I think the lot Yeah, like you were the chicken you were the girl who ate chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese every meal Basically, that's all that's all I had It's fine. We're gonna expand our palate now. Give me. You should. You should. It makes you feel good. It makes you feel good about yourself. It's like oh you know I ventured out and I tried some sushi today or you know whatever and if you don't like it then you just know not to try it again. Food isn't really the only concern when it comes to our kids huh? Like ever since we've been moms it's like everything
Starting point is 00:18:24 we take into consideration. We talk about food concerns. We talk about health, you know, from that stuff to the best schools, to what's going on in the world. And I feel like as a mom, I'm nervous about, like, what's going on in the world and how that kind of affects the kids, too. Well, I feel like I've always, just as a human being,
Starting point is 00:18:44 I've always been, like, anxiety Alan. Like, I feel like I've always, just as a human being, I've always been like anxiety Allen. Like I always think like the sky is falling, but especially after I had Jackson and even throughout my pregnancy, it was like whatever doctor's appointment I was going to, for the testing and try some me and Down syndrome testing and all that kind of stuff.
Starting point is 00:19:04 It was like, what was the next thing that could scare me? And then it was like everything was okay. And then, you know, the next thing would come up. And, you know, it's all their little milestones that like make you scared. And at least for me, you know, like walking, I'm like, oh my God, he's gonna knock a tooth out
Starting point is 00:19:21 like before he like even has teeth. Or, you know know it just I Have the worst anxiety ever and when I see all of this like crazy stuff come on the news about you know these mass shootings or school shootings or you know I Saw this weird story about like a local highway how this woman was driving to work at 8 a.m. and a tire from the other side of the highway like flew off a truck and killed her, like killed her driving down the road. And it's like, okay, this stuff just has to stop. Like my anxiety can't take it because I'm literally going to go into a heart attack. Like I just, I won't even, I didn't bring the two older boys with me to LA this past week because I was nervous about, you know, LA is a super populated and high traffic area.
Starting point is 00:20:13 So I was like, you know, nervous that who knows what could happen at any given time, you know? Well, yeah. And you always, for me, I always think like worst case scenario because anything that's better than the worst case scenario is because anything that's better than the worst case scenario is good, which is a weird mindset to have. But as a mom, that's kind of what I think of. And it's like when I decided to put Jackson in preschool because he needed the socialization
Starting point is 00:20:38 because he is an only child and it's good for them. It's like the things that I were looking at were security. Like what type of security features do they have? Do they have a protocol in the event that someone happened to get into the school past security, what they would do? I mean, it is terrifying. Oh, I agree. I agree.
Starting point is 00:21:01 I mean, just for the reunion for Teen Mom this weekend, Joe, Javi, and I were all here. And so if anything happened it would be, you know, all of us and I wouldn't want to leave the kids, you know, without parents or anything crazy like that. That goes back to, to like the social media stuff, you know? It's like, when you're so active on social media and you want wanna stay, you know, up to date, like keep your fans up to date with what you're doing and that kind of stuff,
Starting point is 00:21:29 it's like you're opening up your world to even more, like for the average person, you're even more susceptible, I hate to say it, for something to happen because people can kind of pinpoint with these locations and Location features on social media if you post where you are they can find you you know who knows We could have people out that have hits on us like you don't know you know I mean it's scary and it's dangerous and I just I'm worried for myself and for not just my kid but for myself too because
Starting point is 00:22:07 I just, it's scary. So I'm just glad we have, we can do this podcast together because I feel like we can talk about so many things and mother to mother and just as like women too, like we relate on so many levels and I'm excited to see kind of where this podcast goes and use it as kind of like therapy. Me too and I think just like on a weekly basis to be able to have an outlet to go to, to be able to relate to people on a more personal level, be able to relate to each other on a, you know, personal level, be able to talk about things that are current life things that are going on for us, current events, just, you know, everything. I think it's going to be so great.

Starting point is 00:25:52 first episode ever, we want to take you through our nostalgic 90s journey. Hey guys, it's Kael and Lindsay and we're back with coffee combos. And today I'm so excited to talk about the 90s. 90s themed. When were you born? Technically, I'm not a 90s born baby. But you grew up in the 90s. I grew up in the 90s, but I was 89. I lived in 89 for like six months. I was born in 92, so I had a whole solid eight years in the 90s.
Starting point is 00:26:21 Yeah. It was a good time. It was like our growing up years. Yeah, I think I actually wore a rug ratchet last night. That's so cute. That was when I was a kid, so the 90s. Yeah. It was a good time. It was like our growing up years. Yeah. I think actually wore a rug ratchet last night. That was when I was a kid. So the 90s. So it's funny because my little brother's favorite show growing up was Rugrats. Oh yeah. That was the shit. Like what other shows were in the 90s? I feel like Hey Arnold was that the 90s? Move it football head, hey Arnold. That was my show. I didn't care how many times I watched the same episode.
Starting point is 00:26:49 Like, Rugrats and Hey Arnold were my shows. Like, I loved it. Full House was big for me. I watched that all the time and I watched Fresh Prince. Yep. I actually find myself watching the same shows that I watched in the 90s. What about like, Clarissa explains it all?
Starting point is 00:27:02 Oh, that was a good one. Yeah. Or, all that. All. Do you remember that? And Keenan and Kel. Keenan and Kel. Keenan and Kel was huge with the orange soda.
Starting point is 00:27:12 I think I still credit my love for orange soda to Keenan and Kel. Yes. They need to come back. I feel like, yeah. But was it Fanta that they were talking about? I don't know. Maybe it was like a TV thing that they couldn't say Fanta. Yeah, but it was definitely like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:26 Yeah. What else was in the 90s? Oh, do you remember? Maybe this wasn't a 90s thing. Those Skip It things that you played with? Was that in the 90s? Oh, Skip It. Yeah, it was like early 2000s.
Starting point is 00:27:39 I don't know, but like I played with them all the time. And then like the Scrunchies overalls were a 90s thing, for sure. Overalls were a 90s thing for sure. Overalls were a 90 thing, but what about the, do you remember those things that you used to have to put on your neck and then pull them up over your hair and it would like, slick your hair back and it had those prongs on it?
Starting point is 00:27:58 Oh, like headband things? Oh yeah, I remember those big time. Overalls were big. Overalls were big. I feel like Crush Velvet, like that like velour type material like track suits Oh tracksuits were big I feel like we're living in the 90s again. Yeah, every all of these things are coming back all the Fashions coming back from the 90s. Oh, yeah, choker. Oh, yeah, I wear chokers all the time not right now, but like I live for chokers
Starting point is 00:28:19 Yeah, I'm chokers crushed velvet. You wore one of those like the first podcast we ever did. Yeah, I love it. Yeah I'm trying to think what else like we did in the 90s Was the butterfly clips was that and I was totally 2000s. That was totally in the 90s Okay, yeah, I definitely lived for those and I was always jealous about oh my gosh the Glitter rollers like that used to like roll on your face. Do you remember those? And they would have like the eyelash, I mean the eyeshadow glitter rollers. Oh, like in the little tube?
Starting point is 00:28:51 Yeah, in the tube. Yes. Yes, and I played with Barbies a lot as a kid. Me too. I know that Barbies came out way before the 90s, but like since I was a 90s kid, like Barbie was where it was at. But I remember I had this Barbie that you could like put like streaks of color in her hair
Starting point is 00:29:08 Oh, yeah, and then you could add the streaks in your hair. That was like a big thing What else I can't even Barbies were so legit I remember back whenever I was playing with Barbies whenever they came out with like the House collection that had like the sofas and like all that stuff. I had all of that stuff. I just was really jealous of my friends because I played with Barbies so hard and my friends didn't really play with theirs as much. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:36 But they had like the convertible and the house and the magic dream boat and I didn't have any of those except. The magic dream boat. It's a magic dream house. Whatever. They had like all of those things and I just had the Barbie. And I'm like, but I play, I'm an only child. I played with the Barbie so hard that I'm like, why can't I
Starting point is 00:29:51 have that stuff? You don't even play with it. Yeah. I get so mad. They were my jam. The Barbies were my jam. I love Barbies so much, too. I was definitely, actually, I played with Barbies probably
Starting point is 00:30:03 way longer than you should play with Barbies. Most people, yeah. I probably played with them until I was like 12. 12. I was about to say 12. Yeah. I literally played with Barbies probably way longer than you should. Yeah I probably paid with them until I was like 12. I was about to say 12. Yeah I love them. And then it was kind of like whenever I was 12 I guess that's whenever I started noticing that like I wasn't a boy or whatever it's almost like that's the age that you realize. You should probably stop. Yeah like you do other things like maybe go outside and socialize socialize. Yeah, but that was kind of like the age where I Was like oh boys are the opposite sex. Yeah, yeah So then I would have like the kindles and like all of that. Oh, yeah, whenever I was still playing with Barbies
Starting point is 00:30:37 That's whenever I realized that like boys and girls were different Oh, yeah, and so then my Barbies would have like relationships and then I was like okay at that point I know I'm too big to be playing with Barbies. Oh same that's exactly when I was like okay I need to go socialize with human beings. Human beings other than like these toys. Toys that I'm giving personalities. Yeah I agree. What are like other toys that were in the 90s though I'm trying to think like oh oh, do you remember those electronic journals? Electronic journals. It was like this like electronic thing that had like, it was like my secret journal or something and it had like a
Starting point is 00:31:11 passcode and you open it and had like a notepad in it. No, you don't. I'm gonna see if I can Google it because it was a real thing. Like a real thing. Yeah. Yeah. Let me see. I'm gonna Google it right now.
Starting point is 00:31:23 Another electronic, another toy that I used to play with all the time. Do you remember Tomogotchi's? Yeah, I had 18 of them. No, I'm not 18. I'm exaggerating. I had 10 of them and I woke up I didn't take care of them because I had so many and At one point my mom put them in the freezer Because they wouldn't stop going off all night. Oh my gosh. So she put them in the oh my gosh. Okay. Yes 90s gadgets. This is it password journal. It was an electronic journal. Oh my gosh. So she put them in the, oh my gosh. Okay, yes, 90s gadgets. This is it, password journal. It was an electronic journal. Do you see that?
Starting point is 00:31:50 I never had that. You never had that? I never had it. My friends had it and I was so jealous. Oh my gosh. Hold on, I'm gonna find, it was definitely from the 90s. But what would you do?
Starting point is 00:31:58 So like you open it and you could tell it secrets and write things in it. Oh my gosh, yes, I did know what this was. You probably have one. I don't think I had one, but I know what this was. You probably had one. Like, I don't think I had one, but like I know what this is, yeah. But I was obsessed and I never got one. Like, what the fuck, mom?
Starting point is 00:32:10 Like, look at the one I had, like the typer. Look at the one that had the typer. Yeah. I never got one, but I would like be trying to get into my friends. Like, this is so cool. It was almost like there was like kid laptops in the 90s.
Starting point is 00:32:18 We just didn't know about them. Or didn't know. Floppy drives. Do you remember floppy disks? Floppy disks, yeah. Like in school. Yeah. That was at like, when I first started saving projects, Or didn't know floppy drives do you know floppy? This like yeah, yeah That was that like when I first started saving projects. It was like do you have a floppy disk? Yeah, no like what would what would kids say like if a teacher asked them if they had a floppy disk Excuse me. They're sexual. They're like, excuse me
Starting point is 00:32:40 Game boy game boy. I didn't have I didn't have one I had this jar when I was a kid that was probably this big. It was a regular mason jar. And I would save all the change in there. Any time I had changed, whatever, I was poor growing up. And every so often, I'd ask my mom to count all the change in there to see
Starting point is 00:32:58 if I had enough money for a Gameboy. By the time I had enough money for a Gameboy, I was so fucking grown. I didn't want one anymore. Like, what a pitiful story. So how much were Gameboys? By the time I had enough money for a Game Boy, I was so fucking grown, I didn't want one anymore. Like, what a pitiful story. So like, how much were Game Boys? Back in the day, they had to have been like $70.
Starting point is 00:33:13 Oh God. Or at least that's what I was told. Oh my gosh. How much do you think they're now? I don't even know if Game Boys exist. They definitely do. They have like flip ones and slide ones and like cool ones. They have like Game Boy Color and like Game Boy.
Starting point is 00:33:25 Do you not remember this? I didn't play games like that. I was playing with Barbie's scale. I was playing with Barbie's too but like I wanted a Game Boy. That's so funny. So like how long do you think it took you to save like $70? I don't know. I remember that was in first grade so it probably took me the solid three years and at that point I didn't want one anymore. Yeah. So.
Starting point is 00:33:44 You were on to something else. So do you know what you spent your money on? No, I have no idea. I probably didn't even get the money. My mom probably used it. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. It literally was a jar this big and I saved and I was like, mom count it and she would just, any excuse in the book for me not to get the Game Boy.
Starting point is 00:34:01 Oh my gosh. It was really sad. Okay, so I don't know if you remember this or not, but back in the day, I say back in the day, like we were so old. Back in the day? How many years ago was this? I mean, I'm 25. So my childhood was in the 90s.
Starting point is 00:34:17 Yeah. I remember it turned to 2000 when I was in the second grade. And I watched my teacher erase 1999 to 2000. You remember that? I remember it. That had a green chalkboard, not a black chalkboard. It was a green chalkboard. And I remember her.
Starting point is 00:34:29 We came back from break and she changed it from 1999 to 2000. To 2000. 2000. Oh my gosh. I was afraid when I returned her to 2000. Because I was afraid of that word, millennial, or whatever people would say. Are we considered millennials? No, I don't know what generation we are. What are we?
Starting point is 00:34:47 I would think that we're millennials we're millennials because we were here when they changed it over to millennial Okay, maybe right. I feel like we're are we are we millennium? Let me look it up. I'll look it up for you Does 89 change from like 90 though? 89 like would I still be in the same one? What generation? Is this a dumb question? I feel like it is a dumb question. I feel like we should know. There's like things called like the baby boomers and that's my mom. Okay. Considered a millennial. Like what years? Okay, generation X. Okay, wait, that's what I think we are. It is discovered that millennials or members of generation y
Starting point is 00:35:25 Are less likely to strongly identify with the generational term when compared to generation x or to the baby boomers But what years so baby boomers is 1946 to 1964 Generation x is 65 to 79 generation x is 65 to 79. Zennials is 75 to 85 and millennials are 80 to 95. So we are both millennials. And it's also considered generation y.
Starting point is 00:35:56 So we're like generation y and millennials? Same thing. So some people call it generation y. I don't know. I'm gonna have to look this up I feel like okay millennials or generation Y is born 1977 to 1995 Wow. Yeah, you barely made the cut kill listen. I was born in 92 I had a solid three years you barely made the cut. I was like slapped dab in the middle. Yeah, for sure big slap dab in the middle. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:36:25 Kristen told me about Chime so long ago, and I wish I knew about it a lot sooner than I did, but during this holiday season, I feel like everybody should be using the Secured Chime Credit Builder Visa Credit card because you can build your credit scores with on-time payments for everyday purchases. And other things that I love about time is there's no annual fees, interest or credit check to get started.
Starting point is 00:36:50 I am a huge Chime Lover. I tell everybody about it, especially because we know how important credit is to me. I talk about it all the time and Chime lets you build credit using your own money, which I think is very cool. A couple other features that I love with the Chime Checking account, you can get paid up to two days early and with direct deposit. So with any qualifying direct deposit, you can get access to your money sooner, which who doesn't love that? You also can do fee free overdraft with spot me. So if you're going to overdraft, you won't get the fee. So you can overdraft up to $200 without fees
Starting point is 00:37:20 with spot me when you set up a qualifying direct deposit, which is fantastic. Like you said, ditch the monthly fees. There's 60,000 plus fee free ATMs you'll have access to send and receive money, which I know is happening a lot these days for Christmas gifts, especially for me because we're all splitting things. I couldn't recommend it more. I love Chime and you can also use it everywhere Visa credit cards are accepted. So this is your sign to start building your credit. Open a Chime Checking account with at least a $200 qualifying direct deposit to get started. Get started at chime.com slash combos. That's chime.com slash combos. The Chime Credit Builder Visa credit card is issued by Stride Bank and a member FDIC. At a network, ATM withdrawal fees may apply,
Starting point is 00:38:05 call 1-844-244-6363 for details. Late payment may negatively impact your credit score. Results may vary. Early access to direct deposit funds depends on pay or spot me eligibility requirements and overdraft limits apply. Okay, so do you remember back when like McDonald's toys used to be cool? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:26 I mean they're probably still cool because Jackson loves them. Yeah. Like he loves. Yeah, my kids love them too. He loves to go to McDonald's and get toys. But they were better back then. They were better back then I feel like. Better quality I would say.
Starting point is 00:38:36 Yeah, so do you remember when like, okay, beanie babies. Beanie babies were my jam. Like I literally would get the tag protectors. I thought that they were gonna be worth money. Like I thought one day I could put them on eBay. Oh yeah, and we were, I didn't even know about the internet, but I don't know where I thought I was gonna sell them.
Starting point is 00:38:54 But we were gonna sell them, that's for sure. Yeah, my granddad told me that they were gonna be super like worth like tons of money. And he was like, beanie babies one day are gonna be worth so much money. You need to save them and you need to make sure they're all protected. So we had the tag protectors, we had everything.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Even whenever McDonald's came out with a beanie baby collection for toys, I literally collected every beanie baby that they came out with. But like, I was obsessed. Yeah, but if you look back and you're like, okay, yeah, you have all these beanie babies, but like looking back, what the fuck is a beanie baby? Because why would they be worth money?
Starting point is 00:39:28 I know, I don't know. You know what I'm saying? Like they are literally bags filled with beans and they have a tag on them. Yeah. And why would we think that? Why would we think that? So I remember specifically that like when the McDonald's would change over the beanie Baby like the you know on the weekly changeover I would call around like I would get in the phone book like you didn't oh
Starting point is 00:39:51 Phone books are part of the 90s. Yeah, I would get in the phone book at my grandma's house and Would find the McDonald's numbers to see which ones they had which ones that you didn't have I would call all the McDonald's and find out which ones that I didn't have my God my God. Write it down and I remember going to Greenville, South Carolina to get a Pilatopus. No. Thai Beanie Baby. No, you didn't. Yes, I did. And my grandpa has all of the Beanie Babies. Like, and- You should try to sell them and see what happens. In his safe. Would anybody buy them?
Starting point is 00:40:20 Let's- That's a tweet for us. You guys should tweet us and let us know if you would buy the Beanie Babies from McDonald's. They have never been us. You guys should tweet us and let us know if you would buy the beanie babies from McDonald's. They have never been opened. They're in crisp condition. They're probably one of a kind. Oh, that reminds me of another toy from the 90s. And I want to say it's from the 90s and not the early 2000s. Furbies.
Starting point is 00:40:36 Furbies? Yeah. That's from the 90s, right? I don't know if furbies are 90s. I feel like they might be millennial things. 2000, you think? Let me look it up. I got to look this up. But I did have a Furby and I 2000, you think? Let me look it up. I gotta look this up. But I did have a Furby, and I thought they were weird.
Starting point is 00:40:48 Let me look it up. Furby, I had one Furby, and I cried for it for months because I wanted it so bad. All right, let's look this up. So we find out, we found out that we are millennials, and when did Furbies come out? But there was two releases on Furbies. 1998. 1998, okay. Well, there was two releases on for 1998 1998 okay, well there was two releases on furby's though. They had like the Original release and then they had a different release on furby's does that make sense? Yeah Let's okay all things 90s. I think the one that we had was black
Starting point is 00:41:21 I had a gray one that was grayish and with black spots. Yeah. And I really just was obsessed with the Furby. But I never got mine to talk the way that you know, you feel like repeat certain things like you could talk and make them talk back. Yeah. I never got that far with mine.
Starting point is 00:41:36 You just kind of gave up on it. I just wanted it because I felt like it was the thing. Like a lot of people had it. Yeah. And then I hated it. I hated it. I didn't like it either. I wasn't really a fan of the Furby. I, and then I hated it. I hated it. I didn't like it either. I wasn't really a fan of the Furby. I'm not gonna lie.
Starting point is 00:41:48 Lisa Frank. Lisa Frank. All things are- Are you kidding? Where is she? Is she still designing things? Where is Lisa? I feel like Vera Bradley is like the 90s, is like the new version of like what Lisa Frank-
Starting point is 00:41:59 Of Lisa. Yeah. I remember those like velvet things that had, they were like that black velvet posters and you colored in the patterns and the designs and a lot of them were Lisa Frank or like the journals that you like zip open that were Lisa Frank. Trapper keeper.
Starting point is 00:42:13 Trapper keeper. I know I love it. Hold on, yes. But the Lisa Frank trapper keeper, are you kidding? Did you ever have blow up furniture? Yes. I had an entire living room ever have blow up furniture? Yes. I had an entire living room set of blow up furniture.
Starting point is 00:42:28 That was the thing. There's this girl sitting on one. I would do anything for that blow up chair. I literally had that chair. I wanted this chair and I would have done anything for it. I got it. Yeah. That's so funny.
Starting point is 00:42:40 The inflatable furniture was the jam. I'm pretty sure it was immediately after Barbies. That's what you transitioned into. Like after Barbies, it was an automatic transition of, I'm getting every Lisa Frank folder. Like if it's not Lisa Frank, I'm not using it. And I need Lisa Frank pencils. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:58 Oh, what about the Lisa Frank erasers? Yeah, and the Trapper Keeper. Trapper Keeper. I had a Lisa, okay, you want me to tell you something? Tell me, oh my gosh. So whenever I was in first grade, I had a club, and I would not let people in my club unless they had all Lisa Frank stuff.
Starting point is 00:43:13 No, you didn't. Yes. No. Yes. Oh, Lisa, what did you call it, the Lisa? It should have been like Lindsay Frank. But it was Lisa Frank. It's a Lisa Frank club. And if you did not
Starting point is 00:43:25 have Lisa Frank, you couldn't be in the club. And now I realize how mean that was because what if somebody could afford it? Yeah, I just had to get the like basic folder. And you couldn't give her one of yours. Oh, I was not giving you a Lisa Frank was never being given up ever. Oh my gosh. And like cassette tapes. Hold on. I'm going through this list because yeah so I think in the 90s that's when like pagers were like cool. Yes. I always wanted a pager you did but I don't even know what I would have done with a pager. I just thought they were weird. If someone paged me you'd have to go to a pay phone and like page someone and the number would
Starting point is 00:43:59 come up across on the screen. Yeah you know what I'm saying? So it's almost like an alert like, yo, go to a phone and call me. That's what it was. I don't think you could leave messages on pages. Could you? Yeah, you can. You could leave messages? I think so. So how would you get it? Or do you run with a car phone? So I had like they were like in a bag in your car. Yeah. My mom had one. Yeah. Kale, I feel like you were rich. No, it wasn't your mom had a car phone you were rich No, my mom just needed it for other reasons like she had to get her fix somehow Okay, well, I wasn't rich, but um, no because I would have got that that I got the Gameboy She would have got it for me. You just you You know, you know
Starting point is 00:44:41 The Gameboy was a real struggle for me to get and I never got one. To this day I've never had one. I feel like if you even got a Game Boy you would not have even played with it. You know what, I wanted it that bad I might have. I might have. Those skippets, but I want to say skippets from the 2000s. Kale skippets were not cool. Skippets were so cool.
Starting point is 00:45:00 I must have had 12 of them because I would get so into it that I'd like snap one. Hold on, I'm about to look this up because I know it's a kill was so into the skip it says she's snapped it I was like I would like trip but I was like determined to beat my score. Hold on skip it Toy oh my god. Let's see when they came out. I bet it was like way before the 90s a Frickin skip it. Wow the first skip it came out in the 80s. What did I say? Damn, I knew that sounded like something like those grandma jumping on trampolines The infamous 90s skip it commercial was filmed. Yes. No, I definitely played with it in the 90s But the original one came out in the 60s. I know you didn't play with an 80s because you weren't alive. Well, right
Starting point is 00:45:42 But I knew they had one in the 90s like I knew that was a thing But I'm telling had one in the 90s. Like I knew that was a thing. But I'm telling you, seriously, the Skip It, it sounds like something, like what I imagine when I think of Skip It, I imagine like those little old school like little trampolines that grandmas go on to get like cardio, you know, and they like float. That is not how I skipped it. I know, but that's what it like reminds me of. Really?
Starting point is 00:46:04 Like I think like somebody, oh my gosh, I know something else. What? Okay, do you remember, okay, this is so stupid, but do you remember whenever those little recorder things came out and it had one song on it? With the clips that you stick- With the clips. Hit clips, clip hits.
Starting point is 00:46:22 Is that what you were talking about? Yes. What are they called? And you could attach them together, like all with the little key chain. I gotta look it up. I got you. I'm pretty sure they're called clip-its.
Starting point is 00:46:34 Like with the little key chain. Yeah, clip-its. Oh my god. Do you remember that? Yeah, I never owned one of these either. Okay, so I owned. But I definitely wanted one. I owned a lot of clip-its.
Starting point is 00:46:43 And let me tell you about the clip-its. Wow, you were really spoiled. Yes, I was very spoiled child. Because I definitely wanted one. I owned a lot of clip-its and let me tell you about the clip-its. Wow You were really spoiled. Yes. I was very spoiled child because I never got one So I had like a million clip-its. I feel like I know that's what I'm saying I'm jealous of your life because I definitely never had the Game Boy. I never had Barbies convertible I never had clip-its. I know what they were. I even had a Barbies convertible that I drove in did you get the dream house I don't think I had the dream house. Because I'm going to tell you a story. So I had this like best friend when I was growing up and she was also an only child. Like my two best friends were also only children and they were so spoiled.
Starting point is 00:47:16 But I was with them all the time because we were best friends. And the one girl, Shelby, she had literally anything and everything you could imagine of Barbie. She had this Barbie dream house that literally was taller than me Oh, my ever once played with it and she had every convertible every car everything This is like one of those things were like you don't even play with it So why can't I have it right? Yeah, but she never let me have it Is this her stuff because it was her stuff, but she didn't play with it You don't know if she didn't play with it when she was not with you
Starting point is 00:47:43 She told me she didn't play with it She's like walk and I would go over there I'm like if she didn't play with it when she was not with you. She told me she didn't play with it. She's like, what? And I would go over there and I'm like, do you want to play Barbies? And she's like, no. Okay, fine. And you just wanted this stuff because you wanted this stuff because I want to play by myself. The thing about the Clippets, I wanted them so bad and I wanted like every song.
Starting point is 00:47:58 And I remember that I was told that I could not get the Clippet that had Shaggy on there. Why? Because of the words? Because of the words because of the words Okay, and I was determined that I was going to get that clip it so my grandparents took me to Walmart And I got it because they didn't know what they were like. Oh, this is just a clip That's how it was big in the 90s. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, so Just so that my parents wouldn't know that I was listening to it I would I would get on my bike
Starting point is 00:48:26 and I would ride it to the end of my grandparents' driveway. And by the time I would get to the end and get back, the song would be over. Oh, perfect timing. Perfect timing. And that would just change my look, clip it out. Did they ever find out if you rock into Destiny's Child or something? Oh yeah. Hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:41 But no, I don't think they still know. They probably know now. I used to have CDs were just coming out, like they were just becoming big or whatever. So I'd have the cassette, the tapes, and the CDs of things. And I would get so frustrated at the cassettes, because you could manually rewind them, but also the tape would come out.
Starting point is 00:49:00 And I would get so frustrated because I was in love with Hanson at the time. Do you remember that band? Okay, but I wasn't a Hanson fan. You weren't? No. Wow. Who did you like? We can talk about that. But literally Hanson was all I knew. I was gonna marry Isaac Hanson. No you weren't. Yeah I was. You thought you were but you weren't. I was gonna marry him and I'm pretty sure I had like their biography books, I had their album, their cassette tape, a poster, like I think I would like I don't know. had like their biography books. I had their album, their cassette tape, a poster.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Like I think I would, like, I don't know. Zach was my imaginary friend. So as much as you were obsessed with Hanson, I was obsessed with Spice Girls. I loved, see that was my girl band. That was my girl band. And I was gonna be Sporty Spice if- You were gonna be Sporty.
Starting point is 00:49:39 Yeah. Okay. Well, I was gonna be Baby Spice. You were probably Baby Spice. I could see that for sure. I knew it. I knew it. No, I- Cause she was the cutest, right? She was cute, but like, she was gonna be Baby Spice. You were probably Baby Spice. I could see that for sure. I knew it. I knew it. Um, no, I- Because she was the cutest, right?
Starting point is 00:49:47 She was cute, but like, she was also very girly, and she actually, like, the colors that I picture for you were like light blue, pink, and like, that's how I picture Baby Spice. Like, I was sporty and scary. Okay, so I could totally see you being sporty Spice, because I feel like she wore black all the time, and she was a tomboy and she liked like
Starting point is 00:50:07 all like weird stuff. So are you saying I'm weird? Well like kind of because like you're not like me. I'm not like you. I'm very tomboy I would say. Like I'm not girly unless someone helps me be girly. Yeah I feel like I'm helping you. Yeah you're definitely helping me. I actually appreciate it though because you know I feel like I need to add a little glitter. Girl to your life. Yeah glitter in my life or something so it's helpful. But I feel like I fit like if I was going to be a spice girl I wanted to be baby spice so bad. Oh and you could yeah if you were like dressing up for Halloween I would say baby spice for
Starting point is 00:50:36 sure. And like the two little pigtails that she used to do with the little knots. Oh yeah. What were they they were baby spice. Like she made that. She made that herself. Oh yeah. Ginger, Sporty, Scarey and Posh.
Starting point is 00:50:44 Posh. I love now I love Victoria Beckham. Like she's great. Yeah. Well I mean I love her but it's just like totally unrealistic. She was like, I feel like she was always the forgotten Spice Girl. You think? Like when me and my friends- I feel like she was the most popular Spice Girl.
Starting point is 00:50:56 Really? Yeah. See I really feel like when me and my girlfriends would like dress up or like play Spice Girls, like I don't know if y'all did that, if we did we're weird. But we would always forget about Posh, like no one would be P play Spice Girls like I don't know if y'all did that if we did we're weird but we would always forget about posh like no one would be posh Spice but now everyone's obsessed with Victoria. Did you have somebody that would be baby Spice? Yeah everyone want to be baby Spice but except for me because I'm obviously a boy. But it's like I'm the original baby Spice. Yeah I can see that.

Isn't Backstreet Boys the I Want It That Way? I Want It That Way.
Starting point is 00:53:32 Yeah, I was. I was Backstreet Boys. One more time. How was that? I was both. I was a fan of both. I had both albums, but I think my preference definitely was NSYNC over Backstreet Boys. Okay, so my obsession with Spice Girls was like in an all-time high.
Starting point is 00:53:48 Even when I like Spice Girls, I had every Spice Girl Barbie. It was so hard to find Ginger. Ginger, you couldn't find Ginger anywhere. Yes, I had that same problem. And I called every Walmart and finally found one Ginger. And did you get her? And I got her. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:54:03 I always had four because I could never find Ginger. I was determined. I must have had Walmart on speed dial. I was calling for everything. So yeah, but who were you? Who did you like? Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera? Britney Spears. Okay. But I liked dirty when Christina came out with like, I was like in the 2000s. I had a really hard time. Same thing with like if I really had to choose between Backstreet Boys and Insync it would be in sync but I also love Backstreet Boys so much. Same thing for Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. I never it was always both for me but then they're always like them both. Always like them both but I feel like it was such a rival
Starting point is 00:54:39 like it was same thing for like like you could not be Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears like you were one or the other yeah and I was hit me baby one more time I might have been genie in a bottle for sure definitely yeah yeah okay so I will tell you I think I was like maybe in I must have been in second or third grade when do you know bottle came out with that have been about right I feel like I was in like maybe fourth grade Gina and a bottle. I definitely did it for a talent show. I remember I was writing in the car with my dad Mm-hmm with one of my friends her name was Courtney
Starting point is 00:55:14 And we were riding the car with my dad and I think that she had either been over to my house Or I'd been over to her house and Gina and a bottle came on and when I went nuts like we went nuts because we loved the song and when my dad heard it and said it said rub it the right way. I thought he was gonna come on glued Like I I really thought he's gonna come on glued That's so funny. He like lost it. I mean, I don't think he lost it on us But like mentally he was losing I feel like I love Jessica Simpson and like Nick Lachey and all, but they were like, he was 98 degrees.
Starting point is 00:55:48 98 degrees was like, and like Nick was like a poor man's like in sink and backstreet boys and same thing for like Jessica Simpson. Well, yeah, like, I mean, wasn't Jessica Simpson part of the Mickey Mouse club or did she get booted out? I don't know. Because wasn't that where Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears came from was the Mickey Mouse club? Yeah, but like nobody really, like,
Starting point is 00:56:06 they were also like a boy band, 90 degrees. And then Jessica Simpson was also like a solo artist. Solo artist, yeah. But like I don't feel like any of my friends ever like picked her over Britney or Christina. Yeah, no. And nobody ever picked 98 degrees over like, Backstreet Boys.
Starting point is 00:56:21 It just like wasn't a thing. No, wasn't a thing. I will tell you though, my first celebrity crush was Nick Leche. Who was my first celebrity crush? You know what? I don't think I had. I think it was Joey Fatone from NSYNC, which is like totally not my type now. Like if you would tell me now that I would like a grown man with like a beard, like, oh, no.
Starting point is 00:56:42 So what do you like? Like I think a beard is cute a beard is nice but I don't think that I would pick someone who looks like Joey Fatone no you definitely wouldn't so like that's like really weird I don't know okay but I would still like my first love or crush was Nick Lachey and it would still be Nick Lachey even now like still today yeah I'm not really I don't think I could say that he's got three kids and a wife. Does he have three kids? Yeah, he's got three kids and a wife, but he's still as hot today. He's good looking. Like as I thought he was. I'm really upset
Starting point is 00:57:11 still about his divorce from Jessica Simpson. Do you remember Toon O by the Sea, like Chicken by the Sea? Yeah. There show, what was that? Newlyweds. That is me. That show was so funny. That was a good show. Like I wanted to be the weird thing is, it's like I love them as a couple, but I wanted to be his wife. It doesn't work that way. Lindsay, it just doesn't. I mean, I liked him as a couple on like they were jiving and like all that, but I'm just like, you know what, I could be his wife so much better.
Starting point is 00:57:38 Okay. Well, you know what? Like 15, you're like, no, no, when I was watching newlyweds, I was obsessed. Yeah. I think I was like in middle school or high school and that show. I would go to gymnastics, come home, take shower and I would be plopped up on my bed, watching newlyweds because I was so obsessed with him. I only watched it for him.
Starting point is 00:57:55 I can't really like I watched it but not religiously. You don't think he's hot? No, I can't like he's like handsome, like he's okay, good looking, but I'm not like, Oh my God, Nick Lachey. I am like, Oh my God, Nick Lachashay if I saw him walk into the room I would literally be like oh my god like I can't okay fair enough like I would get giddy Like I would like now if you saw him absolutely, okay. Yeah, I would lose my shit can't relate He's so hot so like who was your first celebrity crush Isaac Hans Hansen. I told you this. That's right. And then Taylor and then Zach Hansen So you liked all the answers. Yes, I would have married any of them, but mainly Isaac
Starting point is 00:58:35 mainly I love them. Oh, I need my son Isaac after Isaac Hansen. Okay. Yeah Do you remember like I said I keep saying back in the day, like it was so long ago? No, the 90s was like yesterday. Yeah, it was like yesterday, but I say back in the day because it makes me feel like grown.
Starting point is 00:58:55 But do you remember when Powerade was a big deal? No. Like I feel like it was a big deal, and like Fruitopia, like whenever it came out. What's Fruitopia? I grew up in the 90s and I don't know what fruitopia. It's like that juice drink? I just remember those like cool aid like in the plastic containers and it was like wrapped
Starting point is 00:59:12 in plastic. Do you know what I'm talking about? Cool aid wrapped in plastic. Cool aid and it was like the like you like can squeeze them. Capri Sun? No, not Capri Sun. Maybe in the 90s the Capri Sun took off but like. Capri Sun took off.
Starting point is 00:59:24 I don't know. Um, no, but were like, it was like Kool-Aid brand, and you can get like a package of six of them. And they were like in a plastic bottle, and it had like, you get them in blue or red. Oh, yes. They're like squeeze. Squeeze. Like everyone was obsessed with those. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Okay, do you remember those little candies
Starting point is 00:59:42 that were like wax candies? And they had a little juice in them. They were shaped like a bottle. Yes, I lived for those little candies that were like wax candies and a little juice in them? They were shaped like a bottle. Yes, I lived for those like I would walk to the corner store and I was getting me some wax candy Okay, well, I was not walking to the corner store. Well, I was walking, you know what killed me My mom wasn't around so I walked to the damn corner store. Okay. Well you walked to the corner store That's okay. We ate the same candy though That's okay. I didn't. We ate the same candy though. Do you remember the things that like you they were and like a it just felt like a cheap like little package and you rip the top off and like you sprinkle the dust in your mouth? Pixie. Pixie sticks. Pixie sticks. Yeah, I remember those are like, did you ever see the dots that was like on the paper? Yeah, but I hated those. didn't taste like anything. Oh, see, I just didn't like getting the paper in my mouth. Yeah, they just didn't taste like anything.
Starting point is 01:00:28 What else? Like, I was obsessed with like... I was obsessed with like the makeup stuff. Like, and I'm still obsessed with like... Oh, see, I never got into the makeup thing because one time I put nail polish on my hair. Did you have a caboodle? What's that? Like, you were not cool if you didn't have a caboodle.
Starting point is 01:00:39 Well, I wasn't cool then. I also wore overalls until I was like 16, so... Okay. You wore thems until I was like 16, so. Okay. You wore them literally until they came back. It's fine. Okay, but caboodle, like you didn't have a caboodle. They had like all your little makeup in it. Like your little like roller, like your,
Starting point is 01:00:57 my glitter roller? Glitter rollers? Yeah, you didn't have a caboodle. I didn't, it was just kind of like, I threw them whatever like little handbag I got. It was probably like a Lisa Frank handbag. And then what else was big in the 90s? You know what I was really excited for?
Starting point is 01:01:09 And it wasn't obviously in the 90s, but was when that Rugrats movie came back. Like Rugrats had been gone for so long already, and then I was obsessed when they were grown and they had a movie. Or was it a show? OK, so I think Rugrats was, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that just Nickelodeon was cool Yeah, I was definitely a Nickelodeon baby. Yeah, like now there's like Disney babies everyone's obsessed with Disney
Starting point is 01:01:33 But I was never never I was always Nickelodeon never never like Nickelodeon was where yeah It's like it was weird was that like I still watch Nick at night when I was in college. Oh my I still watch it now What comes on it now? George Lopez? George Lopez, Fresh Prince, Full House, like the whole night. Okay, yeah, that's worth it. Okay, so I also think that something else that was really, really cool back in the 90s
Starting point is 01:01:58 was the Bath and Body Works, like lotions and stuff that have the shimmer in it. Oh my gosh, I don't think I ever got any, but I know my friends had them and I would use them. And they smelled so good. They were like super fruity right? Yeah super fruity and they just smelled like everything was fruity I feel like in the 90s the girls used. Oh my god and literally everything had glitter and fruit. Like what about suave? Oh I feel like everyone used suave. Everybody used suave. Now it's like the dollar store thing. Yeah I know I don't I would never use suave now. It's like the dollar store thing. Yeah, I know I would never use suave now
Starting point is 01:02:25 I don't feel like it's a dollar anymore. I think it still is that's why I probably wouldn't use it Or I mean was it a dollar then maybe it wasn't a dollar then now it's a dollar. It was our parents were just being cheap Yeah, I don't like suave. I remember like this like detangler. I used to use it was in like oh detangler It was in like this like green bottle with like an orange cap Or I think it was like a red bottle with a green cap and it was like super fruity and you always had it yeah always wanted to use it after the shower the bath cuz it made you smell so good yeah yeah I remember that detangler was the shit yeah everyone had detangler but it's like now I don't
Starting point is 01:02:57 even think kids know what the detangler is yeah no nobody knows what tangler I also have boys so I don't know what girls use but But like, what did we play in the 90s? I feel like we played outside all the time. I was outside all the time. Other than when I was playing Barbies. Oh yeah, but it was Barbies first, and if I couldn't play Barbies, I was outside. Outside, yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:15 Like, even playing with sticks and shit. And I'm a girl, so. Playing with sticks. Like, in the mud, I'm pretty sure I've had a couple mud baths. Oh my god. I actually did have a mud bath whenever I was a little kid. I used to play in the rain all the time. Yeah. Yeah. I had a good time as a kid. Yeah. Despite like my like fucked up family, like I swear my like my childhood was like a fun time. Yeah. I feel
Starting point is 01:03:35 like I miss being a kid. Yeah. I don't feel like my kids go outside just to get dirty. No. Although now like the rule in my house is like you go outside unless it's raining, you're outside playing. Yeah. So I want them to like play with sticks and stuff like I did. Yeah. I mean, I don't know. I think like back in the 90s things were so much different. Like I feel like people had like where I grew up, people had parties at like the bowling
Starting point is 01:03:58 alley or like at the skating rink or stuff like that. Yeah, you don't really find birthday parties like that now. I feel like. Yeah. Like I don't feel like anybody has birthday parties like that now. But like the options of places. Yeah. Have changed. Well, and I feel like they didn't have like inflatable places and like indoor
Starting point is 01:04:15 trampoline parks and stuff like that when we were growing up. Yeah. So it was so different like slumber parties. I thought it was so cool when I got to have a party at the skating rink. Like I thought it was so cool. I only had two birthday parties growing up. One was at my house and one was at the hair salon my mom worked at. And like did you get your hair done? Yeah. That's that one was like cute. Yeah. I was going to say it was cute, but it was like the only one that was like actually a party. Yeah. Because like I had like five
Starting point is 01:04:41 girls and then we got our hair done and maybe like painted our nails or something. But like kids still sleep over with each other. I feel like that was a huge thing in the nineties. Yeah. Like I remember having so many sleepovers to like do people have sleepovers now? I don't think kids have sleepovers like as much as they did. I would never trust like for Jackson to go to a sleepover. Would you let Isaac or Lincoln go to a sleepover?
Starting point is 01:04:59 Like of my best friends. Yeah. But like kids just kids from school probably not. Yeah. Yeah. I would never allow that. Like Jackson would never be able to go to sleep forever. Yeah, I feel like everybody, once you listen to this episode, you should go on Twitter. And tell us your favorite things from the 90s.
