I hate gift giving and receiving.
Receiving gifts is so weird. What do you say thank you?
This is Coffee Convo with Kale Lowry and Lindsey Chrisley.
I really want you to be in your feels, Kale.
That does not interest me whatsoever.
I feel very attacked by you.
A spirited discussion about motherhood, friendship, family,
and life in the public eye.
I'm just not with the fakery anymore.
There's a fakery bakery around here.
Here's Kayle and Lindsay.
Hello, Kitty Cats.
We have a special guest today.
We're introducing the CEO, Tina Anderson of Just Thrive,
and we love their products.
So Tina's journey into the world of health
had a unique start,
and some of you may not have heard of Just Thrive,
so we're here to share that with you.
She started her career as a trial lawyer
who specialized in settling cases
by bringing both sides together,
a personal passion of hers.
And once she had her second child,
she left the high stress job
and she wanted to focus on her family.
Luckily she was able to still use
her considerable legal skills to point her career
in a new direction as in-house counsel
for a family pharmaceutical company, which is so cool.
But then what Tina saw there
made her change her direction again.
She was frustrated by the many abuses in the pharmaceutical industry. cool. But then what Tina her direction again. She
many abuses in the pharm
then she turned toward th
health and found her lif
admirable. She channeled
learning all she could ab
and good health maintenanc
her discover the importan
how connected and crucial health and how connected
and crucial it is for overall health and wellness.
And to share her discovery with the world, Tina, along with her husband, created a unique
supplement that contains the superior probiotic strains of the renowned researcher Dr. Simone
Cutting.
By promoting gut health and probiotics. Tina shares her passion for wellness,
helping others live their best physical and emotional lives.
And I cannot wait to hear more from her.
Hello, Tina.
Hello.
Welcome to Coffee Combos.
Well, good morning.
Thank you for the warm welcome.
How are you guys doing this morning?
We're good.
Lindsey is in Mexico, so she's living her best life.
Good for you, Lindsey. That is awesome. I feel like it's just as hot here today in Chicago.
But I don't have a beach in front of me.
Different kind of hot, right?
Yes, exactly. Or I don't have a margarita in my hand either.
I learned that you were a trial lawyer and you're talking to two girlies that wish that we had become
lawyers. So that's very interesting.
Yeah. I don't know if it was good to me. It's fine. It was fine. Actually, I didn't really
thoroughly enjoy it because I don't do it anymore.
But you're on to bigger and better things. We love Just Thrive. So let's talk about Just
Thrive because I think the way that you guys started
Just Thrive was really cool
and you are the female and entrepreneur and CEO,
which we love over here at Coffee Combos.
So you created Just Thrive in 2013,
but tell us about how you started this brand.
Yeah, so as you mentioned,
I was in litigation for many years working crazy hours
and I just did not want to live that lifestyle anymore.
I started having children.
I wasn't particularly satisfied in what I was doing either.
I would win this big motion and the client would be like,
okay, what about the next case?
And there was no, nobody really cared about it.
And I'm a very passionate person
and I wanted to do something that meant something to me.
So I went into a family pharmaceutical business,
which I thought was awesome,
because I'm like, this is awesome.
We're delivering life-saving medications
and helping people get better.
But after being in the pharmaceutical industry for a while,
my husband and I were in the business together,
we started to see a lot of the abuses in the industry.
We started to see the overprescribing of medications.
We started to see this emphasis on treating symptoms,
but never really getting to the root cause of a problem.
I mean, pharmaceuticals are great
for like emergency type situations or acute situations,
but when you're talking about chronic conditions,
you know, we don't wanna be focusing
on just putting a band-aid on it with a pharmaceutical.
We wanna be getting to the root cause.
And that was something that I was so passionate about.
And so we started to learn about gut health
and just the importance of gut health.
And really this was after the
National Institutes of Health launched
the Human Microbiome Project
that told us more about the gut than we ever knew before.
And basically it was telling us that the gut
is dictating so much of our overall health.
So being in that, you know, understanding that we were very fortunate and able to license
these very unique strains, a new category of probiotics.
And that was where, and we were able to get the exclusive rights to these strains out
of London University.
And that was where Just Thrive was born.
So it sounds like it was
a kind of an easy journey, but it wasn't necessarily super easy, but it's been so awesome because
it's just, it's fun to change lives every day.
I actually didn't know everything about the gut and it basically being, what do they call
it? Like the second brain. Um, until the first time I talked to you on Baby Mamas and you
were telling me about some of this, and I was blown away.
I think I remember talking about our interview over there
for weeks afterwards, because I was just so impressed
by all the knowledge that you had
on everything that you guys are doing,
but just in general, because that's something
that we talk about here on Coffee Combos a lot,
is not putting a bandaid on things in general
when it comes to health, and especially women's health too,
is like,
I have PCOS. I don't want metformin, right, to be the band-aid. I want to know what are the root
causes of why I have PCOS, things like that. And so this is kind of, it's just like that.
Gut health is so important. So what are some conditions that are caused by a lack of gut health?
Yeah. Well, it's crazy. It's hard to find any condition that's are caused by a lack of gut health? Yeah.
Well, it's crazy.
It's hard to find any condition that's not associated with a lack of gut health.
We all kind of associate it as like gas or bloating or you have some digestive issues.
Like let's say you have diarrhea or constipation or you don't go to the bathroom regularly
and you think, oh, I have gut health issues.
And yeah, absolutely.
Those are certainly very clear signs
that you have some gut issues going on.
If you're bloating, it's not normal to be bloated.
That means you have some gut imbalance going on.
But now we're starting to understand
that like a skin rash or acne,
any type of skin, eczema, psoriasis,
all these types of skin issues
are actually associated with our gut health.
Mental health issues, so, you know, anxiety, depression, All these types of skin issues are actually associated with our gut health.
Mental health issues, so anxiety, depression, any mood disorders are all associated with
some type of imbalance in our gut.
Autoimmune issues, allergies, these are all associated with an imbalance in our gut.
So it's really hard to find any condition out there that's not associated with a gut
imbalance.
We're talking about rheumatoid arthritis and acne potentially have the exact same root
cause and it's a gut imbalance.
And that's what's so fascinating about the gut is that there's some bad news associated
with that because we know that our gut's being attacked in the world we're living in on a
daily basis. But the good news is that we know once we start to
heal our gut, we start to see all of these conditions start to improve. And that's what's
exciting.
At what point did gut health become popular? I feel like we just started hearing about
it maybe a couple of years ago. Yeah, great question.
I think that our gut health,
because this human microbiome project was launched
by the National Institutes of Health
about 12 years ago or so,
it started really becoming popular.
People started talking about it.
But I think the research,
there's so much research going into gut health
because we're seeing the impacts
that improving our gut health is we're seeing the impacts that improving
our gut health is having on our health.
The reverse is true.
The research is also showing the fact that our guts are being attacked on a daily basis
is the cause of so many diseases.
I think this is why you're seeing so much press out there, if you will.
There's so many people talking about gut health.
This is not like this hot new trend that we're talking about. I mean, this is the research and science is behind it and telling us that our gut is really
so impactful.
And I'm glad it's trending right now because people need to be made aware of it because
it's just so impactful on our health.
I mean, from everything, like our mood, weight.
I mean, again, it's hard to find anything that you can't relate to gut health. I have two girlfriends that are currently battling breast cancer and they're both saying
holistic doctors and they've talked to them a lot about gut health as well.
So I just think that it is wild that the gut can control that much.
Yeah.
You know, 80% of our immune system
is found in our gut lining.
So it's our gut health that is dictating
how our immune system is reacting to whatever,
whether it's an infection, whether it's inflammation.
I mean, we really need to be focusing on our gut health.
Whatever, you know, people who are going through,
having hormonal issues, whether it's, you know, PCOS or whether it's, you know, menopause, wherever it is, people who are going through having hormonal issues, whether it's PCOS
or whether it's menopause, wherever it is, everyone's like, you need to focus on your
gut health because our hormones are being produced in our gut.
Our neurotransmitters are being produced in our gut.
So all of our happy hormones, serotonin, which is our happy hormone, is being produced in
our gut.
90% of our happy hormone is being produced in our gut, not% of our happy hormone is being produced in
our gut, not in our brain like we've been kind of taught all these years. It's really
in our gut. So I love that your friends are seeing a holistic doctor to deal with this
because cancer is not just a breast issue. It's an inflammatory issue. I mean, we need
to stop that inflammation and our immune system is in our gut,
is found in our gut.
70 to 80% of our immune system is found in our gut.
So kudos to your girlfriends
and I wish them the very best.
I have a question and it might sound dumb to you,
but I think everybody who's listening,
Kail and I are both moms and we've talked
about the struggles of finding out information,
how to just live healthier lifestyles, I guess.
So, where do you even start?
Like, hey, I wanna correct my gut.
Hal?
Yeah, it is so tricky,
cause I feel like I'm immersed in this industry
and I'm still struggling to find that.
You know, I'm always trying to learn and
have a critical mind when I'm listening. I would say that you need to empower yourself. And
obviously, that's what you're talking about. Listening to podcasts like yours and learning
and seeing what kind of makes sense. I feel like we have to get away from the standard medical
model of... Doctors are very well-intentioned people,
but we have to remember they are being educated by big pharma. I mean, pharmaceutical companies
are funding many of our medical schools out there. There is no barrier between pharmaceutical
companies and doctors. Like in Europe, there's a lot of barriers. There's the advertising.
doctors. Like in Europe, there's a lot of barriers. There's the advertising. The media is really bought by the pharmaceutical industry. It's very, very difficult to get true honest
information. I find myself in that situation a lot. I just really try to listen to podcasts
that I trust, podcasters that I trust. Listen, go to companies that you trust and talk to
them. We invest in our blogs. We have research. Obviously, we've invested in our products with research
that's very unheard of in the supplement space. We have double blind human clinical trials
on our strains, but we also invest in our blogs to empower our customers on how to understand
gut health and what is behind it. But I would always say, don't just trust us.
Go use your own common sense and then just keep researching.
And go to holistic doctors,
go to functional medicine doctors.
I mean, functional medicine doctors
are looking at the whole body.
I think that is what's missing in medicine
is that we are so specialized,
these doctors are so specialized, these doctors are so
specialized looking at one particular specialty and not looking at the whole body, but the
whole body works together.
I mean, if you have breast cancer, that was probably caused by a lot of inflammation and
we have to be dealing with the inflammation on top of many other factors involved, but
we really need to be
focusing on the whole body.
Of course, the gut is tying the whole body together.
You have to be your own advocate and trying to just learn from different really smart
people that are out there.
Go to several doctors.
I go to a couple of different doctors because I like to hear what they all have to say and then I kind of use my own common sense and I always get my own blood
work that I have a list of the different blood labs that I want to get myself.
Do you know if functional medicine doctors are covered by insurance?
No, they're not. No. I mean, it is mind blowing to me and it's something that I am also passionate about.
My husband, Billy and I are probably going to be a part of a coalition that is trying
to just get people some, trying to change something that's going on, trying to change
what's going on in the healthcare system because insurance is not covered.
But you know what?
Is there anything better that we could spend our covered. But you know what, is there anything better
that we could spend our money on, you know,
than empowering ourselves
and going to a functional medicine doctor?
We could make other sacrifices.
I mean, I would hope that people
would be willing to make other sacrifices.
You could still go to your conventional doctor
and get certain tests, but you know,
go once a year to a functional medicine doctor
and just educate yourself about what
things are important.
Maybe make different sacrifices in life because if you don't have your health, what do you
have?
We need to take care of our health.
Can you tell us what the gut-brain axis is and just go into a little bit of detail about
what that is for our listeners?
Sure.
So there's something called the gut-brain access, and that is the vagus nerve. The vagus
nerve is connecting the brainstem all the way down to the intestines. Messages are going
back and forth between the gut and the brain all the time. I would often tell people when
I was being on podcasts, if you want to take care of your gut health, you want to maybe start doing meditation. You want to just do some deep breathing and all that because
your brain is sending signals to your gut. And that's really hard for people to wrap
their head around that. We actually, our brain is sending signals to our gut and how we feel
and our mood and being calm can actually help our gut health. But it's shown in science, many research studies have shown
that the gut-brain connection is real.
And the reverse is true.
Our gut, if our gut is healthy,
it's sending signals to the brain.
So if you're trying to be calmer
and have maybe, you know,
be just be have better mood,
you should be taking care of your gut health.
And if we all think, if you don't believe me,
like think about when you're excited about something,
what happens?
You get butterflies in your stomach
and that's your brain sending signals down to your gut.
Or if you're nervous about something,
all of a sudden you start having to go to the bathroom
more regularly.
These are all sending signals down to your gut.
So we have to support that gut brain access
by supporting our gut health.
That's so interesting because I very much get anxiety
or like if I'm super upset about something,
like I immediately have to go to the bathroom
and I didn't know if that was normal,
but that makes so much sense.
You have to like poop?
Yes, immediate have diarrhea.
Like if I get really worked up, you're not like that.
No, I don't have nervous shits, but I mean, I know a lot of people who do. Yeah. Like
my girlfriend that's on this trip with me, for example. Yeah, just if any type of like
emotional anything going on, that's the response. So Tina, are you saying that if someone gets
like anxious, like having to go to the bathroom
or gets really upset and has to go to the bathroom, is that unhealthy gut health or
is that an open communication between brain and gut? Is that what you're describing or-
Yeah. I don't think it's unhealthy. It's just the way our body works. It increases
the fertility when you start having, you're nervous about something, it's your gut telling
or your brain sending signals it's your gut telling, sending,
or your brain sending signals down to your gut.
So interesting.
So a response from your gut is why that's happening.
Your brain is kind of sending a signal down to your gut. And yeah, it's fascinating the
way that happens. But yeah, that happens to me too. Like I get like, if I'm nervous about
something, I feel like I have to go to the bathroom. I don't necessarily have diarrhea, but I have like, I have to
go to the bathroom.
We are not the same.

So, obviously, Just Thrive probiotics are a fantastic way to help support your gut.
But what are some other ways that we, what are some other things that we can do as well
as our listeners can do in addition to taking these Just Thrive probiotics to support the
gut?
Yeah, well, I mean, even if I back up a little, just all the offenders out there.
We know now from that human microbiome project that we are 10 times more bacteria than we
are human cells.
So literally our bodies are made up of more bacterial cells than they are human cells.
And yet we live in this world that is just constantly barraging our gut health.
There's so many offenders to our gut health,
from antibacterial hand sanitizers
and antibacterial hand soaps to antibiotics.
We have antibiotics, not just that we take,
but antibiotics that are found in our food supply.
So many of our animal products
are just loaded with antibiotics,
and we're consuming those
when we're eating our meat products.
And then the
toxins in our environment, the chemicals, the pesticides, glyphosate, which is the active
ingredient in Roundup that's sprayed all over our produce. We're going and we're trying to eat
healthy. We're having asparagus and broccoli and all these great vegetables, but they're literally
loaded with glyphosate and glyphosate is so offensive to our gut health. And so we've got antibiotics
that are destroying our gut health.
We've got glyphosate that are destroying our gut health.
And this is why we're seeing this epidemic
of like allergies and asthma.
And I mean, when I was a kid all these years ago,
many, many, many years ago, I'm way older than you guys.
I like had one child,
I had one classmate that had a peanut allergy.
Like now you can't go to a restaurant without people asking what your allergies are, what
allergies people have.
So this is because our guts are being destroyed on a regular basis and yet we know our guts
are so important to us.
So one of the things I always recommend is trying to eat clean.
And again, it's expensive.
Like going to a functional medicine doctor does cost a little bit more. But make baby steps. There are ways to start introducing
organic foods into your diet. You know, going to the frozen section and starting to buy some frozen
vegetables. First of all, I think they're way easier to make. You know, I take like frozen
broccoli from Costco and like organic frozen broccoli and I just throw it on a pan and I
put it in the oven, sprinkle it with some extra virgin olive oil and it's like they're delicious. So there's ways to eat really
healthy and clean, but you don't have to be perfect. Just try to make some baby steps to
start avoiding some of those glyphosate, which is the active ingredient roundup that's sprayed all
over our produce. Really try to avoid antibiotics. Antibiotics save lives.
We understand that, but we also know that people,
the CDC even admits that 50% of antibiotics
that are prescribed are actually unnecessary.
And every time you're taking an antibiotic,
it is killing off the beneficial bacteria in the gut.
And that's really detrimental to us.
So I think it's trying to eat clean.
I mentioned meditation, really important to just
be calm. You know, that's so hard for all of us, myself included, but just trying to really be
prescriptive about walking in nature and being calm. I mean, it's really important for us to be
living a calmer lifestyle. So just trying to like, you know,
I know it's expensive to do like household cleaning products
that are clean, but like, I don't even,
it's actually less expensive.
I don't even use like bleach or, you know,
or like antibacterial, anything.
I just use like water and a little bit of essential oils
just to kind of clean things off or soap.
And I don't use all these like fancy products
because I feel like they're just cleaning
our bacteria. Bacteria is good. We have to remember that bacteria is good.
And then of course-
Wait. Anti-bacterial soap, we're not supposed to be using this?
I don't ever use them. No, I just use regular soap. Yeah. Bacteria needs a PR campaign because
bacteria is actually good for us. We are like taught to be like so sterile,
but I mean 99% of the bacteria, like less than 1% of the bacteria is actually harmful. The majority
of bacteria is actually incredibly beneficial, if not critical for our overall health. And I
know we've been so like, you know, taught to be doing these antibacterial hand sanitizers and hand soaps. But I mean,
well before COVID, I was like, no, don't ever use those antibacterial hand sanitizers. It's
like, we just use soap and water, you know, wash your hands and bacteria helps our immune
system. We need beneficial bacteria and we're killing off all of our beneficial bacteria.
I think what Lindsay really wants to ask is, do you wear shoes in the house and do you
wash your sneakers because of the bacteria?
Because Lindsay is very sterile and I am not sterile.
Yeah.
Well, I don't want to pick a side here, but I would say that being less sterile, bringing
that bacteria into your house is really beneficial.
That's why there are studies that show households who have dogs generally have kids who have less
allergies and are healthier because they're bringing in a lot of that bacteria into the
house. I mean, obviously now, like, unfortunately, the grass is sprayed with Roundup and now,
in which, you know, I personally don't use Roundup, but I mean,'t use Roundup. You go to the park and
the grass is sprayed with Roundup and a lot of those chemicals are very disruptive to
us. So maybe not that kind of dirt you want to bring in. But if you're out in nature,
you're on a walk somewhere in nature, I think that kind of bacteria is great. It's why people who live closer to an ocean and are in the ocean all the time, there's a whole different,
there's different microbes you're getting from the ocean. You want those on you. You
want to be exposed to them. And that's one of the other things I always say, like go
to a forest preserve, go on a hike with land that's untouched and have a picnic and get
some of those microbes that's really beneficial for you.
Can you tell us what is different about Just Thrive and also just what people should look for
when they're looking for appropriate probiotics that are good for us? Can you just describe what
we should be looking for? Yeah. So that's really important because as we talked about, probiotics
are like the hot new word. Everybody's like probiot know, there's drinks with probiotics in it. And so the biggest
difference with Just Thrive is that we are a completely different category of
probiotics. We are something called a spore-based probiotic. And the reason we
use these types of strains, when we were disruptors, we came to the market, nobody
else had these strains, is because they have this spore base, this spore shell
around itself.
This spore shell allows it to survive the stomach acid.
We have this stomach, we all have stomachs, and it's very acidic.
It's meant to be the gastric barrier.
It's meant to stop pathogens and bad stuff from going into our intestines. So most probiotics on the market
would actually die in the stomach acid. And so basically you would be getting dead bacteria.
There are some studies that show even dead bacteria may give you some type of beneficial,
they're like metabolic response modifiers. So they may give you some type of benefit,
but imagine what they do if they are alive microorganisms
that get into the intestines.
And so that's the difference with the spores
is they actually get to the intestines alive
and they have the ability then to take their shell off
and that's when they become alive
and then they start to work and they stay there
for about 21 to 28 days.
And so the best way I can describe the difference
is that if you envision a garden and
the garden has been stepped on and trampled on and you compare that garden to your intestinal track.
So these strains get to the intestines, they get to that garden alive. They're not killed off by
the acidic environment in the stomach and they actually attach to the soil in the garden and they
have the ability to get rid of the weeds in the garden and then they have the ability to bring those plants that have been stepped on and trampled on back to life.
So now if you take those and go back to your intestines, these strains have the ability to
get to the intestines alive. They have the ability to attach to the intestinal cell wall like they
attach to the soil. They have the ability to get rid of that overgrowth of the bad bacteria or the
weeds in the garden, and then they
have the ability to take our good bacteria and help it come back to life.
So it's so, so, so impactful.
And it's why we see such profound results with the product, because we are making a
true change in the gut.
We are literally changing the makeup of the gut flora, and it's why we're seeing these
incredible changes with the product.
What is the difference between a probiotic and a prebiotic?
Oh, another great question. A probiotic, if we take that same gardener analogy, is kind of like the gardener of the gut. It's going in there, getting rid of the
weeds in the garden, helping bring those good plants back to life. The prebiotic is like the
fertilizer for the garden. It's helping feed the good plants in the life, the prebiotic is like the fertilizer for the garden.
So it's helping feed the good plants in the garden or the good bacteria in the garden.
The problem with many prebiotics on the market is they don't know how to distinguish between
the weeds and the good plants.
So they may feed the weeds and now you're making a problem worse.
So the probiotic strains or the probiotic ingredients that we work with actually have the ability to target the beneficial
bacteria.
They're only targeting those quote unquote good plants.
They're not feeding the bad bacteria and making a problem worse.
Think of the probiotic as the gardener helping clean up the garden or reconditioning the
garden and think of the prebiotic as the gardener, helping clean up the garden, the reconditioning the garden,
and think of the prebiotic as the fertilizer. So it's like you take the probiotic and you have
all these great effects. The prebiotic actually starts to increase the benefits of them twofold,
very similar to how it would act with your garden.
So we all, ideally, we should want to take a prebiotic and a probiotic.
Yeah, ideally you would.
The probiotic you can't get really from our food.
The type of strains that we work with, you can't get from yogurt or any of their, plus
yogurt, so many yogurts are loaded with sugar, which is so detrimental to our gut health.
So we used to get our probiotics, these type of strains,
we would eat off the land. Our ancestors used to eat off the land and they would actually
get these organisms from the soil that we use and just thrive. So with prebiotics, you
can actually get a lot of prebiotics from food. You're eating lots of vegetables, but
I mean, you have to be eating lots and lots of vegetables. So, but you can get the prebiotic from food, but the probiotic, you really cannot. But
again, yes, I eat a lot of vegetables and I don't think I eat nearly as many as I should.
So of course I take the prebiotic too, because I know it's just, you know, helping amplify
everything that the probiotic is doing.
So your probiotic comes in capsule and
you guys now have gummies? Yes we do. Yes. Oh my gosh. Everybody has been like asking
us to do a gummy, asking us to do a gummy. So we finally launched a gummy and that
has been great. They taste amazing and obviously we want kids to be taking them
as much as possible. If you don't want to give your kids a gummy you could also
open the capsules and mix them with food. But yes, we could either take a capsule or you could do the gummy.
Does it change at all the gummy vitamin versus the capsule, like the efficacy of the product?
Yes.
So the exact same strains are in both products.
There is a little bit more of the product in the capsule than in the
gummy.
So something to consider.
And this is fine for children to take of all ages or?
Yeah.
I mean, it's like we just have to watch out for choking hazards and things like that,
you know, for little kids.
But yeah, in fact, you could open the capsule and mix it with if it's a child that can't
swallow or, you know, can't chew or anything, you could put it in and mix it with if it's a child that can't swallow or you know can't chew
or anything. You could put it in food or water or whatever it might be. But yeah, it's so good for
kids. I mean, our kids' guts are being attacked so much worse than ours were because or at least I
know mine was because we didn't have all those glyphosates. We didn't have all of these toxins
in the environment that we're living in. I mean, it's why we're seeing these kids with such an uprise of autoimmune issues and allergies and autism and all these types of
issues that kids are being plagued with and why I'm so passionate or anxiety and depression you're
seeing in kids at record levels and we have to be taking care of our gut. So yeah, I'm a mother
myself of three and my kids are adults now, but I cannot
overstate enough how important it is to be taking care of our kids and their guts because
theirs are so much more vulnerable in my opinion than ours ever were because they were faced
with so many of these offenders earlier on.
Not me running to grab these products now.
You have Just Calm and then you also have Just Pets. So a lot of our listeners are huge
pet lovers. We talk about our dogs all the time and I have farm animals. But can you
talk about those products as well?
Yes. So Just Calm is a psychobiotic. So a psychobiotic is a strain that actually supports that gut brain access that we were
talking about earlier.
So the psychobiotic is actually helping us handle stress better.
So that's our Just Calm product.
We know there's eight clinical trials behind that strain showing that it's actually changing
our brainwave activity to put us more in a
theta wave state, which is more of a calming or like a, not even calming, but like a flow
state.
So it doesn't make you tired.
It just makes you more like kind of almost like a meditative, like you're focused and
you're more in a meditative state.
Not a zombie state, but just like calmer when you're able to like handle stress better,
which is super exciting because when we launched
that about two years ago, we could not keep it on the shelves because unfortunately, it's very
relevant. People are dealing with stress at epidemic levels. We know that these strains
in just calm actually help us perceive stress better. So people can actually handle stress
better. It's helping us get out of that fight or flight response, which unfortunately, you
know, our fight or flight response is super interesting because we evolved with a fight
or flight response as a protective mechanism.
You know, our ancestors used to be chased by a saber-toothed tiger, and we would go
into this fight or flight response.
And that's good because we would need that adrenaline to run away from an animal that
was attacking us. But the problem now in the society that we're living in is we can't get out of that fight or
flight state. We are literally like, we read a tweet that gets us mad or we get an email that
gets us mad or you see an Instagram reel that gets you upset. And it's like we are not getting
out of that fight or flight state. And we're seeing this as really being a problem.
So that's what the Just Calm is really helping us bring down our cortisol levels, balance
our cortisol levels, and help us deal with stress better.
And again, seeing really great results with that product as well.
And then our Just Pets product is great because we did a double blind human clinical trial
on our probiotic for leaky
gut.
And probably a whole other podcast episode we could talk about leaky gut, but leaky gut
is really a big problem in the industry.
I mean, in our lives, we have people who are having these leakiness of the gut that's causing
this inflammatory response by our immune system.
And we also did a leaky gut study on dogs. And they also
are dealing with the same human conditions. They're dealing with cancer, they're dealing
with gut dysbiosis and gut issues. And so we formulated a product that will help dogs
with their leakyness of the gut and with other gastrointestinal issues that they're suffering
with too. So really, really
exciting. We love helping the dogs and everyone says the dogs love it too.
That's wonderful.
We, collectively, we have several dogs. That's definitely something that our listeners will
love and we love our dogs over here, so that makes sense. Okay. So you have the new product,
Just Thrive Focus and Memory.
Is that what it's called?
Yes. Yes. So, you know, I always, I don't want to overwhelm people with everything because
I feel like the most important thing you need to be focusing on is the probiotic. And then
a lot of people will say, well, I really want to take the just calm at the same time because
people are so stressed out. And that's fine. You could do both of those like right away,
but I always like to have people kind of see how you feel.
Like introduce the probiotic.
I would recommend the probiotic always that you start with
because it is so foundational.
It's like a multivitamin.
You know, we all take multivitamins
without thinking about it.
But if your gut is inflamed in any way,
it's not absorbing those nutrients. So we could be
taking vitamin C, vitamin D, a multivitamin. We could be eating all these great vegetables,
but when your gut is not healthy, it's inflamed and we need to make sure that our gut does not
have that inflammation in there. So it's absorbing nutrients better. So I always recommend people
starting with the probiotic, adding in whatever makes sense. We have product coaches on our team.
But yes, we launched a really exciting new product
that's called Focus and Memory.
You know, we see kids that are just having trouble focusing.
We see this all the time.
We are distracted like we've never been distracted before
with the amount of, you know,
we're on our cell phones all the time,
we're being distracted. This is not good for our brain health. So we formulate a product that's
actually helping regrow brain cells. I mean, with ingredients that help regrow our brain cells. So
it's really great. But again, I would always, and that's something that speaks to you.
I would definitely try that product too, but foundationally, I'd always recommend you start
with a probiotic and then start
introducing some of the other products.
We have health coaches and product coaches on our team that can help people navigate
all the different products.
Because I never want to be like, oh, start with this and do this.
You have to do this.
I would say that the probiotic is really where you would start and you'll start to see the
changes after a couple months and then you start introducing some of these other products.
But again, so many people want to start with the Just Calm, and that's great because we
all, who doesn't need to be calmer?
I'm going to start with the Obiotic myself, and so is my child.
Good idea.
