Episode Date: October 15, 2026

On today's episode, Kail can't wait to tell Lindsie about extreme athlete Ash Dykes' Congo Basin expedition (could Kail be the next extreme athlete?) They pivot to family fire safety plans, f...ears of the dark in their big age, and why college football feels more like reality TV. Starting point is 00:00:00 I hate gift giving and receiving. Receiving gifts is so weird. What do you say thank you? This is coffee convoes with Kail Lowry and Lindsay Crisley. I really want you to be in your feels, Kail. That does not interest me whatsoever. I feel very attacked by you. A spirited discussion about motherhood, friendship, family, and life in the public eye.
Starting point is 00:00:18 I'm just not with the fakery anymore. There's a fakery bakery around here. Here's Kail and Lindsay. Oh no. Lindsay doesn't get it? What are we going to do? I have no idea what Hold on
Starting point is 00:00:34 I gotta tell you about it Let me pull it up Oh wow I did tell Becky about it But I feel like it's funnier Because your reaction Your reaction is everything right now What is Ash Dykes
Starting point is 00:00:48 Okay Before we get Is this a person? Yes Okay Why would I know her? Him Him
Starting point is 00:00:54 Him Ash Dykes is An extreme athlete and he like kayaked the Amazon, which is insane, and decided that he's going to go kayak 700, I think, kilometers in the Congo Basin, which if you don't know anything about the Congo Basin. I know nothing. They have, like, their native crocodiles make Florida's look like babies. Like their native crocodiles are 14 feet long on average. and also the last explorer athlete that did this was his body was never recovered.
Starting point is 00:01:34 He went down to... So why would you choose to do this? Like is this like a thrill seeker? Yes. Like he's like, it's got to be like an adrenaline junkie type deal. But the last athlete to do this was taken, the crock came up, got him by the shoulder, and then his body was never recovered. And so Ash Dikes is taking an entire film crew to go do this.
Starting point is 00:01:56 And they're like, okay, well, where are we? sleeping? Are we sleeping on tents on the jungle floor? Are we sleeping on, you know, hammocks that are in the trees so that they're not getting bit in the nighttime? Like this, it's this whole thing. Like, why would we do this for fun? I'm obsessed with it and I'm actually upset that they didn't ask me to be a part of the team because like I would have been like cheering him on. You know what I mean? This is giving like extreme naked and afraid. 1,000 percent. But like, let me show you Ash Dikes because I'm, I love him so much. My sister texted me and said, are you keeping up?
Starting point is 00:02:28 up. So they're in there. They were just in the airport. Oh. This is it. This is it. We are in the airport. There's not what I pictured that he looked like. So he did, um, he's an explorer, an extreme athlete. He has five world records. And world records for what? For kayaking? I think so. So this is, yeah, 700 kilometers. In four days we're heading into the deep jungle deep. In four days, we're heading deep into one of wildest jungles on earth. You know what it's giving? Steve Irwin. On steroids.
Starting point is 00:03:06 Absolutely the fuck not. Like, do you know how deadly the spiders and snakes probably are there? But, but like, why would you choose to put yourself in that situation? So here's like his like record so far. He has a whole timeline of all the things that he's done and it's incredible. Like he's done some wild shit. And I was like, oh my God, like this man is truly like a... I feel like I'm going to upset you whenever I say this, but I'm going to say it anyway.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Like, I have zero interest. To even follow it? No. Like, why? Did you happen to follow the woman who... The woman who just did her boat? She solo boated from one California to Hawaii maybe. No. And I followed that too.
Starting point is 00:04:00 I was like obsessed for a minute. But what's the obsession with it? Because you're a thrill seeker, but you're not a thrill seeker enough to like do it. No, honestly, I think if I didn't have kids, I would be that person. Like, I was going skydiving 10, 15 times after I got divorced. And then I was, I almost died in Hawaii with Leah because I was like in the water. And then I was doing the shark dives. And I was doing it.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Like, I definitely, if I didn't have kids, are you kidding me? Like you would go out there on a kayak with those wild animals like that. Oh, yeah. 1,000 percent. Because like at that point, what? am I living? Like what it doesn't matter. I don't have a family, right? Like, obviously I have kids so I won't do it, but I just think that there's like certain things once you get to a certain age where it's just like that's not a good idea. Wait, I'm trying to find, he has like,
Starting point is 00:04:49 he posted this video that had all of the things that he had done so far. Okay, the adventures that have led me to the Congo basin. Number one, age 19, I cycled the length of Cambodia and Vietnam on a bike that cost him 10 euros. In 2010, he crossed illegally into Myanmar and was taken in by an indigenous community and taught how to survive in the jungle. Then he did the Himalayas with no permit recklessly along the border of Pakistan and India. Then in 2011 to 2013, he lived and worked in Thailand as a scuba diving instructor and a Muay fighter. Then in 2013, he cycled the length of the UK for charity in seven days. Then in 2013, he trekked through the Alps solo, Austria to Germany, where he just got missed by a landslide. And in 2016, he became the first person to hike
Starting point is 00:05:40 Madagascar's length via the entire interior while submitting the eight highest peaks. Summitting, sorry, while summiting the eight highest peaks. 2019, he became the first person to walk the length of the Yang-Yankstee River in China from source to sea. Then in 2021, he obtained his paramotoring and skydiving licenses to become master in land, air, and sea-based activities. 2024, he was dropped by a helicopter in the middle of the Amazon, discovered the source of the Copper Name River and became the first to travel source to sea, surviving off Piranha and Stingray, a 37-day mission entering... Like he killed him and ate him? Yeah. Oh, my God. He became the... It was a 37-day mission entering the Guinness Book of World
Starting point is 00:06:23 Records and producing a show for Discovery Channel and BBC Earth. He traveled 3,500 miles via land, air, and water across China following the yellow river over glaciers and across the Gobi Desert. And then in 2026, he'll attempt to paddle the Sanga River. I guess my confusion is, is why would so many people be interested in like this man's hobbies? I think with a team this big and also them following it, I think that there's going to be a helicopter. This is my theory. I don't know this for sure. a helicopter on standby to pull him out of a situation because they're not going to let him die on
Starting point is 00:07:01 like a lot like they're all tracking this and following this and filming this so i just can't imagine like live i think so they like starlink i think gave them um like sponsored them with like satellites and stuff okay and he is taking an entire crew with him i mean i guess what's his actual job and how does he have so much time to do this he's a producer and an extreme in an extreme in an extreme i think he's doing this for like BBC Earth and Discovery. Like that's his job now. So his hobby became his job. Yeah, I'm still not interested. This is like sports for me, you know? What do you mean? Like I love to watch sports, but like there's nothing and I feel like the way that I watch college football, I get the thrill that you're getting off of that for college football. Do you know how I feel
Starting point is 00:07:50 about college football? I didn't. Don't piss me off. No, I'm going to say something good. I'm going to say something good. I am like, before Lincoln played football, I couldn't watch football. I didn't understand it. I didn't get it. I didn't understand the hype. Like, I don't know what's going on. I don't understand the plays.
Starting point is 00:08:06 After Lincoln started playing football, I started learning a little bit more. Still don't know what I'm talking about, but like I can watch it enough to understand what's going on. Started going to live games because I had a sports kid. Lincoln's a sports kid. So I've gone to NFL games. I've gone to NBA games. I've done, you know, baseball.
Starting point is 00:08:22 I've done all the things. And I love watching sports in person. Fast forward to me dating Ike. I find that college football is far more entertaining than NFL. Oh, 1,000 percent. It almost feels as though college football is the reality TV and NFL is the scripted TV. Yes. There is not a whole lot of entertainment in NFL itself.
Starting point is 00:08:50 It's because it's professional. And it's almost like they're being more careful. Like, yeah, obviously there's injuries and people can get hurt. Well, it's because they're so much better. Are the stakes higher? They're better? Yes. Then, wait, what?
Starting point is 00:09:05 Pete, I just feel like if you play college ball, you're probably good enough to play in the NFL. No, they're drafted from college. Yeah. But not everybody is drafted. No, I know. But I'm saying, like, if you have made it as far as college football. It's kind of like playing Little League and then the people that get to play for, like, the high school. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:22 But I just feel like, if. you have made it as far as college football, you have the potential to go to the NFL. Not everybody. No, but you could, in theory, I guess. I just made my point. Good morning and welcome back to another episode of Coffee Convo's podcast. We are recording from my recording room slash office and the boys are, well, we have only two boys this weekend, Jackson and Lincoln. and we are just going to sit here and shoot the shit and talk about things that hopefully you guys are interested in.
Starting point is 00:09:57 So how was y'all's drive in, you know? It was great. Flight was on time. Drop the kids off at school. Flight was on time. Traffic was a little crazy, but what? Traffic was crazy. It was.
Starting point is 00:10:13 You know that trend? Traffic was crazy. And it's like there was no traffic. And it was like they had to stop and get a nice coffee or something. Yeah. We did stop at some place to grab food on the way because we were starving. And then we get here and Lincoln's like, Mom, we have to move here. Do you see the grass outside? I know. I'm like, what is it? Golf course grass? Like, I don't know. Wait, it's so funny to me that when I think of your kids and maybe it's because of you, I feel like you're not scared of anything. And to hear Lincoln say that he was like scared of the dark last night playing outside is crazy. to me. Oh, no, he's scared of the dark. Like, Jackson has zero fear. He could have been out in the woods and he's fine last night and, yeah, no fear. So Lincoln's school did a four-day trip to Virginia and they got back right before we came here and Lincoln had left his stuff in Elliott's car
Starting point is 00:11:11 and he needed to go get it. It was like 9 p.m. And I had to go outside with him to go get it because he didn't go out to the car. Wait, he wouldn't go out to your car in the driveway? No. by himself. Has he always been like that afraid of the dark? Yeah. That's so interesting to me. I'm afraid of the dark. Do you know that I slept with a night light on until I started dating will my whole life,
Starting point is 00:11:32 like my closet light on? I always thought that I was leaving the TV on because I was afraid of the dark. I think it's like like loaded, but I think part of it was to cover noises because I'm so scared of the dark. I don't want to hear any other noises if I, it's like a sound machine. Like if I have a sound machine, I can't hear anything else. But also, like, I'm scared of the dark. I've always been scared of the dark.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Did you sleep with a night light on when you were a kid? Yeah. Oh, yeah. I didn't sleep with the door closed either because I felt like if the door was closed, I'm, like, trapped inside. I needed the door open so I knew what was going on. So not until we moved to this house. Did I start sleeping with the doors closed?
Starting point is 00:12:12 Because I can't remember if it was you. I think it was you about fires. It was when we were talking about getting those like pop-up last. ladders or whatever. I have those. They're in every room. That was like an intrusive thought, I think that we collectively had. Oh, yeah. Like needing the ladders, you know? I think they're good to have. They're in all the kids' rooms. You have ladders in all the kids' rooms? Yeah. In every closet, there is a, it's because they're single use. So like, you can't even practice on them because you're only supposed to use them one time. And then when I was on either, was a book club maybe,
Starting point is 00:12:44 they were suggesting to, I guess if you're a foster parent or if you homeschool, you have to have fire drills and you have to have a plan. Oh, interesting. One of the girls, I want to say her name was Allie, maybe, or maybe it was somebody else in my book club. They said with bigger families like mine that we should come up with a plan, like a buddy plan. So Elliot is responsible for getting the twins, for example.
Starting point is 00:13:09 And then Lincoln's responsible for getting Lux and Creed. So they're all upstairs and my bedroom is downstairs. Okay. So instead of us panicking when a tragedy occurs, oh, did you get the twins? Everybody goes and gets the twins. And then where's Rio and Lux and Creed? It's like give a buddy system.
Starting point is 00:13:26 I'm responsible to go get Rio. You're responsible to go get verse. You're responsible to go get Valley so that everybody is accounted for. Yeah. Instead of everybody flocking to one room. Does that make sense? Remember when we talked about like in the event of a house fire, like what the plan is? And I feel like back in the 90s, it was so common.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Maybe I saw this on Clifford. Maybe I'm like making it up. Like Clifford, the big red dog. Yeah, like we're, you're supposed to like have a meeting spot outside and like you find a tree or something and everybody goes to it. Yeah. Do you remember that? Yeah. No, that was also like in school fire drills.
Starting point is 00:14:02 What? Yeah, like in the fire drills. You don't remember like in school and then you had to line up on the black top near this tree. Oh, yeah. And everybody did like their head count or whatever. Are you guys the kind of people who constantly flip your pillows on the cool side only for it to last about maybe 10 seconds or maybe. Maybe you and your partner are in a nightly thermostat battle where one of you is freezing and the other one's overheating and sweating. That's where chili pad comes in.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Temperature is one of the single biggest levers you can pull to improve your sleep quality and get more deep sleep. And that matters because in deep sleep is where your body is actually recovering, repairing, and resets for the next day. And that's why we wanted to tell you about chili pad 2.0. The most advanced version yet of the bed cooling system built specifically for people who are tired of waking up hot and sweaty. And the chili pad 2.0 actively cools or warms your bedding. using water. It's a thermostat for your bed and water is key here. Fans just move around hot air, but chili pad uses actively chilled water to cool the bed, actually pulling heat away from your body. It's like the difference between standing in front of a fan and jumping into a cold pool.
Starting point is 00:15:03 The new chili pad isn't just an upgrade. It's a complete rethink. The 2.0 comes with a design dock quieter than ever with a larger internal tank so you're not refilling it constantly. And the topper itself is now premium formans grade cover that unzips for easy washing and has built in waterproof protection. But the biggest change is the nightstand remote. Each side of the bed gets its own dedicated thermostat. It has sensors that detect when you get into bed and automatically trigger your sleep schedule. Zero friction. So you get in, it kicks on.

Starting point is 00:15:50 Visit www.slew.combo. Dot me slash coffee combos and never wake up hot and tired again. What do you think about the gypsy rose blancher? Oh, my God. So I go to bed. I went to bed with text messages. I normally don't do that. I normally read them before I go to bed.
Starting point is 00:16:13 But I was just like, I'll deal with this later. Wake up in the morning. Like, what are they doing? I don't even see that. Should we just give it a minute? This is me when I go to the Congo Basin. Wait, is that really you? Yeah, my sister made it on AI.
Starting point is 00:16:29 My sister just created an AI image of me getting ready to go. You at least look cute. I do look cute, so I'm not even mad about it. I feel like those don't even look like your tattoos on this. They're not. They're like AI. But those are my overalls. Wait, what?
Starting point is 00:16:44 Those are my brown overalls. I wore them for an interview on barely famous. you literally look like Steve Irwin's daughter. Which is funny because my mom's whole family is Irwin. They're my cousins. Wait. So, like Steve Irwin is your cousin? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Yeah. That's what I grew up thinking. Wait, what? Susie told me that Steve Irwin was our cousin and I believed her. So I used to tell you that. Because she was a little boozy, you know what I mean? So she was just making a little boozy. up. What's so funny is my mom. Oh my God. Fuck it. I'll just talk through the lawnmower.
Starting point is 00:17:24 My mom, my first cousin, his name's Ryan. Okay. Ryan Irwin is his name. Okay. He's, he just turned 18, but I obviously followed him on Instagram and he just posted, I think it was like for Steve Irwin's birthday or something. And Ryan's last name is Irwin. He's my first cousin. And I just like laugh because I don't know if he also thinks that were related to. him or if he knows that his aunt, my mother told me that that was our cousin or like what? So you think she lied to him too? No, I don't even think he knows my mom, but like, I'm not to text them. Hey, did your, did anyone in your family tell you, did your dad tell you that we were related to?
Starting point is 00:18:03 Like, maybe they were just like joking with you guys. No, my mom, here's the thing. Who? Creed. Creed lied to me to my face yesterday before we got here. That had to have been early in the morning. That was an early lie. No, no, it was so early.
Starting point is 00:18:21 It was on the way to school. The way that he looked me in the face and I go, are you serious? I go, wait, are you kidding? And he looked at me and goes, no, I was lying. My six-year-old, straight face like this. But what was the lie about? What was it? It was like something funny.
Starting point is 00:18:37 But it's, have you ever met someone who can lie and like with a straight face? Yeah, my ex-husband. But it's, but usually it's about funny things. It's not like malicious. Creed did it so funny. I'm like, that's what I was thinking Susie was trying to do was like be funny and like lie. And then she wanted you to feel like you were important and that you were connected to a celebrity. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:02 Like that's probably the intent. But then you believed it. Oh, I believed it. I'm confused as to why on Facebook, oh, now he's right there. Sorry, if you guys hear the weed whacker or the lawnmower, there's literally nothing we can do about it. I'm confused why on your Facebook and you never explained to me why your name is Kale Lowrie Irwin or Kail Irwin Lowry. Like why?
Starting point is 00:19:35 Okay. Did you do that? Because. And was, was it supposed to be like a funny he-he? No, I wanted my family to find me. That's why you changed it? Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:45 So I begged my mom as a kid to change my last name. To Irwin. To Irwin. Okay. Because I had a cousin, Allie Irwin, in my grade and we're one month apart. Okay. Nobody believed she was my cousin. We didn't talk.
Starting point is 00:20:00 We didn't hang out. We had no connection. But this was like your for real cousin. My for real blood cousin. Okay. We're the same age. Why am I not having relationships with them? I, there's obviously, it's like my mom's the black sheep of the family.
Starting point is 00:20:14 She's an addict. She's an alcoholic. Like no shit. They weren't going to have my cousin hang out with me. Right. But I mean, it's not your fault. Other people, I would be like, oh, Ali's my cousin. And they would be like, no, she's not.
Starting point is 00:20:25 And I'm like, no, she literally is. Like, these are my cousins. And then my friends that I had in the grade below me that I grew up with were also friends with Ali's sister Becca. Okay. And so I wanted to know them my whole life. I wanted to be close with them. I wanted to be around them. If my mom was going to, she always dropped me off places and never pick me up again,
Starting point is 00:20:44 why are you not doing that in my cousins where I could be with my family and my Irwin side, my mom's side? I wanted to know them so bad. So then as I grew up and changed my last name, come to find out, it cost like $100. It would have cost my mom $100 to change my name. Why are you not just doing that, right? So then as I got older and my aunt told me that she was looking, my dad's sister told me she was looking for me online,
Starting point is 00:21:05 she started looking Zanga, Myspace, Facebook. The fuck is Zanga? The blogging thing before Myspace happened, where you like talk about like what you did. Like if you were, you got a car for your birthday, you'd talk about it in the blog. blog and then you'd put a picture of it? No, I don't recall that ever happening.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Okay. I'm going to see if it exists after this. So my aunt told me that she was looking for me and she didn't know what last name I had anymore. She didn't know if it was Lowry or Irwin that she looked up both. So then at that point, I'm like, well, if my dad's sister was looking for me, maybe some people in my mom's side, which I don't think they ever did look for me. But I was thinking maybe they would look for me and want to have a relationship with me. So then I put Irwin and Lowry in case my dad's side or my mom.
Starting point is 00:21:49 my mom's side wanted to have a relationship with me. And now I'm like, I talk about this with Ike all the time because, you know, I hope that we're going to get married and his, I love his last name and I want to take his last name. Yeah, I think he has a cool last name too. It's so good. Would I drop my middle name and move Lowry to my middle name like you did? Or how do I keep, because I still want the connection to Irwin, but I still, my brand and everything that I've built is on Lowry and my kids are Lowry. but I just cannot bring it in me to drop my mom's whole side because even at 34 years old, I still like, if those cousins that I just took about. Yeah, but, Kiel, you legally are not an Irwin.
Starting point is 00:22:28 But I could be. Like, in theory, hear me out. Hear me out. Because we literally just had this conversation. We were talking about getting married. And I'm like, okay, but I still want Irwin. How do I make Irwin and Lowry and Knight in all? Like, how do I, do I just drop Ray?
Starting point is 00:22:41 That is a mouthful. That's what I'm saying. So how do I have... Can you imagine what they're going to think at the Justice of the Peace when you going there and you're like and by the way I also have something else that I need to fix. I need to be Kalyn Ray Irwin Lowry Knighton. Can I just drop Ray? But then hear me out.
Starting point is 00:22:59 My sister is Ray. My sister is Michaela Ray. So then I'm like me and my sister both have Ray and so I want to keep Ray. How did you all both get that? It actually pisses me off because both of our mothers told us that they named us. But it is very clear that Raymond Lowry named us because my sister's first last name was was Lowry. She was a Lowry first.
Starting point is 00:23:16 Her mom did change her last name. To hers. Yes. So then I'm pissed off because I'm like, and Michaela is not spelled like the common name. It's spelled like mine. M-I-I-L-A-K-A-L-A-K-I-L-Y-N. And our middle names are both Ray. So Michaela Ray, Kailen Ray, we were both-W-R-R-R-R-D-R-R-R-R-R-K-R-R-E-R-R-Gould not come up with anything.
Starting point is 00:23:37 It was just Ray. Yeah, and he gave us that when we met him before he died, he gave us where, like, where those names came from and the spelling and everything. So I know for a fact, Susie lied to. me. Did Michaela's mom lie to her? I'm not going to say she lied because I'm not going to speak ill of the dead, but it is clear to me that our dad named us. Okay, wait, was, was Michaela's mom married to your dad? No. Was your dad ever married? To my mom. Okay. So also before my mom, he married a Hawaiian woman. Did they get an annulment? Yes, which is unusual because there was a
Starting point is 00:24:10 child. There was a product of the marriage. So typically you can't get an annulment, at least at that time in Pennsylvania, you could not get an annulment if there was a product of the marriage. So, like, how many days were they married? They were married for years. And they got it annulled? Yes. And they had me and they still got it. But my mom's family has pull and that had, I don't know if they still did. What did your mom, I mean, what kind of lie did your mom tell the government, like, that he abandoned y'all? Basically. I don't know if it was a lie, though. Like, I don't know if she kept him away and then claimed it was abandonment because based on what my dad told me when right before he died is that he never fucking gave up.
Starting point is 00:24:47 And then my aunt was there corroborating everything he said. They were driving from Texas to Pennsylvania. Wow. This is so interesting. But what do I do about the last name? Okay, but some of your kids are Lowry's. Five of them are Lowry. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:07 So then what would you do? Like change all of theirs to Irwin Lowry? No, that's what I'm saying. Like, I have to keep Lowry because. they're Lowry and I want to match them. But I also want Irwin. So do I just change my first name to Irwin? Wait, so you're going to lose Kail?
Starting point is 00:25:24 It's just going to be... Irwin Lowry Knighton? Irwin Ray Lowry Knighton. No, drop Ray too. Okay, so your whole name would be Irwin Lowry Knighton. I kind of like it. It's different.
Starting point is 00:25:38 Like, I kind of like it. Like my brand can still be... I could be doing business as Kail Lowry, but like my new name is Lowry Irwin Knighton. Let's do it. Don't tempt me with a good time because I'll do it just for shock value. But what's the like nickname for Irwin? Cale.
Starting point is 00:25:55 What? Like you still call me kale, but my legal name is Irwin Lowry Knighton. Like that's kind of iconic. Like who do you know has done that? Nobody. Like I want to honor everybody. I mean, I get that. But I'm just...
Starting point is 00:26:10 My grandfather was my favorite person on the planet. And his last name is Earl. I have to do something with that. I just don't know why your mom wouldn't have... Is a cunt? Cale. Truly. Like, why did you...
Starting point is 00:26:23 I begged her. My whole brand could have been Cail Irwin, Kail Irwin. And then my kids would be Irwin. Do you feel like it sounds better? Like, it has like a better jingle? Pazazazazzo. Yes.
Starting point is 00:26:35 And also my father, my biological father was not a Lowry. He died not knowing he's not. His biological father is not a Lowry. He died. being really just like carrying this name that you don't even know who it belongs to. Correct. And it just pisses me off. So you just like feel like Irwin's very special to you? Yes. That is exact. Erwin is very special to me. That is going to be my new first name. When we get married, I'm changing my legal name to Irwin Lowry Knight in, but you can still call me Kail.
Starting point is 00:27:06 No, I will definitely call you Irwin. Like it will be changed in my phone. It will be changed on our new branding. like Lindsay Coffee Convo's podcast by Irwin Lowry Knighton and Lindsay Chrisley. Like, you know, it definitely has like a little umph. Like I just, maybe I have a baby and name him Irwin Lowry Knighton. Kill. That's a compromise. The amount of rumors that are coming from this episode alone, I am scared to log on the internet. I'm having an identity crisis.
Starting point is 00:27:42 I think you've had that for a while, actually. Yeah. Like the identity crisis, I think, was started years ago. Wait, so hold on. So when you were married, were you a Mariquan? No, only on social media. So what made you not do that, but then you picked up Irwin along the way, but like it's not legal, you just say it is, and now you're going to take Ike's last name? I was never taking coffee's last name.
Starting point is 00:28:13 That was a big point of contention in our marriage. So I was like, we'll compromise and I'll put it on social media. Okay. And he, like, was fine with it. Okay, here's something my younger self would have absolutely loved and benefited from. And that is Chime. As I got older and older and learned more about everything and then my grandma, my grandparents died after I was on teen mom and stuff like that. It was like, I just feel like the older you get, the more you like reflect and have more appreciation for certain people and things like that. And I always wanted to be in Irwin anyway. So it was always special to me.
Starting point is 00:30:38 It's very special to me. It's very special to me. But I had already been on teen mom and my brand that I was creating was Kail Lowry. It's kind of like I saw an article one time and it was talking about women in the medical field or attorneys and stuff. And they go to school under their maiden name and then get married like a long time later. And they still want to keep that maiden name because that's what they started. their career with. Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:05 All their credentials. That makes sense to me. Yes. But then at the same time, like, is it a disrespect to your husband to, like, not carry it? Like, I feel like that is, I feel like it is. But the reason why men, you're taking a man's last name is to show ownership. It's a very old patriarch, what is it, patriarchy? Is that the word?
Starting point is 00:31:28 Fuck the patriarchy. Yes. It's like a very, like. Keychain on the ground. Is that a Taylor Swift song? It's giving Taylor Swift. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Did I sound like her? Yeah, for sure. You look like her too. I love Taylor Swift. I didn't know you were a Swifty. Did I know that? Yeah, but I feel like it's something that I didn't want to talk to you about because you're not a Swifty. So I just feel like I have held that secret.
Starting point is 00:31:49 I just get. I told you to listen to Patient Zero yesterday and you didn't. I know you didn't. I didn't. But I will. I just, I have an aversion to things that everybody is doing. Like I can't do it because everybody's doing it. Like what?
Starting point is 00:32:04 Except for Lou Boo Boo's, obviously. Kiel, that's not true. You just lied to my face. You do not have an aversion to doing stuff that everyone's doing. Like, you have the most fomo of any person that I've ever met in my life. No, I was late to the squishy game. Like, I was late to Nitos and everything. Yeah, but you still did it.
Starting point is 00:32:23 After it was a thing. So the aversion is in the midst of the eye of the storm? Correct. Okay. Okay, that's making sense. I definitely feel like it's disrespectful from my opinion. You're also very southern. Yes.
Starting point is 00:32:41 My opinion alone is that if you marry somebody legally, then you take their last name. Some people are going to say, well, then why does the man not take the woman's last name? And I'm sure that would probably be your argument. You're probably like, Ike is going to become an Irwin, but you're not even an Irwin. No, we will because I'm going to change my last. We could just both hyphenate for both of our names. Like, he can hyphenate his and I'll hyphenate mine. But I know that that's the thought process that you went through.
Starting point is 00:33:09 And I guarantee that you guys have had that conversation. Like we're going to be Irwin Lowry Knightens. Yeah. I was like, well, we could both hyphenate. It's equal. We're equal. We're partners. We're equal partners.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Yeah, but like from a traditional standpoint, you take the man's. Yeah, but I'm not traditional. And clearly neither is he. Why? I feel like he is. Traditional, you can't have a baby out of wedlock and say you're traditional. And I've had six out of seven of my kids are out of wetlock. That has nothing to do with being traditional.
Starting point is 00:33:41 Is it not? We're talking about last names, not wedlock. But just traditional in general. Like you're cherry picking where you're traditional. Oh, I see what you're saying. Okay. No, I feel like. Sometimes I think I have really good points.
Starting point is 00:33:53 It's just getting it across. So now that I've just made that point and you're like, oh, I get it now. Like you're cherry picking where you want to be traditional. You traditionally speaking should take the name. So you're saying I'm a fraud. But also traditionally speaking. You're calling me a fraud. Are you?
Starting point is 00:34:09 No, you were married when you had Jackson. No, I know. But what I'm saying is you're saying that I'm a cherry picker. Like I choose where I want to be traditional. Me saying. Now we're in a fight. No. I'm saying like traditionally speaking I would take night in.
Starting point is 00:34:24 But traditionally, if we're going down the traditional rabbit hole, neither one of us should have children outside of web lock. so we cannot cherry pick where we're going to be traditional and where we're not. But what if the argument is that there's growth over a period of time? Where you're now traditional after making mistakes? Yeah. Yeah, that's what I'm trying to do with my brand. Yeah, but you're also trying to change your entire name to Erwin Lowry Knighton. And I'm going to do it just for the shock value at this point.
Starting point is 00:34:51 This is very interesting to me. We got off on a long tangent that we should not have, but here we are and this is Coffee Convo's podcast. Back to Gypsy Rose Blanchard. we never got on that no we i just said gypsy rose blanchard and then we started talking about last names somehow wow okay so i went to bed i had text messages didn't look at them until the morning opened my phone unfortunately her daughter's father had passed away from what i've read there was no foul play and it is an alleged suicide i guess his sister maybe had gotten online to announce his passing and i was i was shocked
Starting point is 00:35:30 did you read some of the emails that Gypsy Rose had sent to Ken? No, I did not. Can I read them to you? So how I found out about this was because in a group chat with Hunter and Madison, one of them sent it and then simultaneously at the same time, Kiel sent it to me too, but I didn't see it until like way later. And I'm like, oh my God, is she going back to prison? So at this time, if you have not been keeping up with this case, Ken did not want their daughter's face on social media.
Starting point is 00:36:06 So keep that in mind. Also, keep in mind, all of the jail calls between Ryan and Gypsy are being released where a lot of things have come out that were like racist comments, sexual pedophilia type of stuff. And it is my opinion that Ryan is still in love with Gypsy and wants to be with Gypsy. And he still goes on lives and does interviews about her and all of this. stuff. I think with that, Gypsy, Ken and Ryan, all three of them have faced a lot of backlash on the internet, a lot of opinions, a lot of cyberbullying, whatever that looks like, right? Gypsy's email to Ken, quote, was this when she was in prison or like when she's out? There's no context on the timeline of these emails, but it was after their daughter was born.
Starting point is 00:36:49 So she wasn't in prison? No. She couldn't have been, I guess not. She says, quote, I always thought you were gay and I wouldn't care if you OD'd. So in the email it says, okay, I've calmed down. I went on a rampage last night, ripped up the very first postcard you ever sent me, cut you out of visiting picks and told you I couldn't care less if you're alive. I literally hated you last night. This is what your games are doing to me. That's not my character to say those things or act that way. We just need to go our separate ways for good. You keep hurting me and I'm done with it. I begin to hate you more and more each time I get hurt and love you less and less until I don't love you anymore. And then there was a response, wow, okay.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Gypsy goes on and says, please remember times like this when you miss me and send me messages like, quote, call me what, quote, call me just to say good night. End quote. Sometimes I call you for a reason. I had something very important to tell you tonight, but your attitude was a total turnoff. I've had it with you. Fuck you and fuck off. You're such a piece of something is redacted. Frankly, I always thought you were gay.
Starting point is 00:37:50 Even your own mother told me she thought you were going to be gay. You are nothing and no one to me. I don't want you. Don't love you. and if you asked me, I wouldn't care if you OD'd. That was one of the emails that was posted. But then she also posted a carousel of memories with the two of them. And so obviously grief is complicated and you can have a complicated relationship in real life and still go through the grieving process.
Starting point is 00:38:15 But she also showed her daughter's face for the first time. Which it's one of those things where like, should you, yes, there's a filter on it. but if that was something that you guys agreed to when he was alive, is that something that you carry through when he passes away? And then just an hour ago, they posted that Gypsy Blanchard is not welcome to Ken's funeral. Interesting. So I started listening to some of the jail calls that had been released of her and Ryan. And then I saw that she had issued like a public apology and then maybe accounts were like deleted or put on pause like TikTok. and Instagram and then she's been back on them.
Starting point is 00:38:58 I personally believe that she is a very extremely toxic person. And I don't know if that is potentially something that was instilled in her through the relationship or lack thereof with her mother. And then obviously being in prison and now back in regular society, like is there a struggle with that and she does not know how to have adult relationships. To send somebody emails saying that you don't care if they OD, that is abuse. And it's very, very concerning. It's very sad.
Starting point is 00:39:41 Also, I would love to know the timestamps of those emails because I think that would be very telling to speak to someone like that that you, have a child with knowing that you come from a fucked up situation. You were in prison because of a fucked up situation. And then you procreate with someone. And you're speaking to them like that. Why would you not want better for your daughter, if nothing more? No, truly.
Starting point is 00:40:10 But there was more, I guess he sent her text messages saying that he was filing for full custody of their daughter. Right. Because she was going on these rampages and like destroying things in the house. Yeah. And there's the text messages. came out too. And I don't know if he, because they look like Ken was in blue, which means that he was the one
Starting point is 00:40:31 to screenshot them and send them to somebody. Yeah. And she basically says, please don't take Aurora away from me. We, you know, I was drunk. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have acted like that. The statement that Lindsay's talking about that she made, I took a screenshot of it. This is from Gypsy's Instagram.
Starting point is 00:40:49 Whoops. I just dropped my microphone. This is from Gypsy's Instagram directly. She posted it on her story and it says, Ken was an amazing father and man who was deeply loved. He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase. Ken endured an unimaginable level of public scrutiny
Starting point is 00:41:07 and relentless cyberbullying across media platforms, including TikTok and Reddit. The cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should ever have to endure. I believe the tremendous weight of that scrutiny and harassment had a profound impact on him, and I hope his passing serves as a reminder that there is a real person behind every screen, every headline, and every comment. Above all, Ken loved our daughter Aurora. She is a beautiful reflection of his enduring spirit and through her.
Starting point is 00:41:31 A part of him will always remain with us. I will make sure she grows up knowing how deeply her father loved her and who he was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved and never forgotten. However, I don't think that takes accountability for the things that she also bullied him, essentially, telling him, I think that you're getting, I always thought you were gay and your mom even said it, I don't care if you would, that also, she's not taking accountability for saying those things to him. Okay, so there is a pattern of the way that she operates
Starting point is 00:42:02 and handles things because there was another statement after the jail calls had been released. And to your point of, you know, potentially racist comments and potentially pedophilia type of type of conversation. There was another statement that she had released and was apologizing publicly for that and then kind of went off social media for a short period of time. And then I saw that there were screenshots of her having a conversation with someone else. I believe it was a female saying that to deflect from the jail calls that they were going to basically trick the audience that watches them about a pregnancy and it would like deflect from some of the
Starting point is 00:42:58 things that were being said on the jail calls. I personally feel like she has lots of skeletons that are in her closet and she regularly makes public statements like that to deflect and does not take any accountability for any of it. And to your point, yes, while that statement is very true, and I believe some of the things that she's saying, she also contributed to it. She participated. She participated. And so there is a level of accountability there.
Starting point is 00:43:31 And if you're going to make a statement like that publicly, then where is the public accountability for what you did? I also just want to say that I have gone back and forth with my support for Ryan. And like, I thought he was a bad guy. and then I was like, no, he's a good guy. After some of those calls have come out, I take back any statement I ever made about being a Ryan supporter. When you're talking about jizzing on your nephew's pillow, I could throw up. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:43:59 I didn't know that that's what was said. Wow. On a jail call. Not in those exact words, but yeah. Just doing really, like, just very inappropriate conversations. And I would hate to believe that he was saying them to kind of maybe feel. feel like Gypsy could relate to him because they had done things that were not, that they had both done things that were frowned upon. Maybe he thought that was like a, oh, if I say this, maybe she'll
Starting point is 00:44:27 like me or if it was real. But nonetheless, you're a teacher. You were a teacher and I'm disgusted and I cannot believe that I ever said anything supportive of him. I just had no idea that that was like the kind of stuff that I didn't hear that part. And that's very, very disturbing. while while that statement of what she posted, like I said, is true. If you knew all of those things at the time that they were going on, why were you then privately contributing to that? She perpetuated it. Correct.
Starting point is 00:45:01 And the only reason that he was getting the backlash that he was getting was because of her. It is so crazy to say that the holidays are right around the corner. And I know all of our schedules just fill up so fast. Were they actively to get like or was it like a toxic back and forth? I want to say it was more toxic and I think more recently they were not together. because the text messages that I read about him filing for custody, I think they were on and off. Off. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:51 So he passed away on his 34th birthday. He was found unresponsive on October 1st. And he was discovered by a family member inside of his Louisiana home. That's what a source close to the family had confirmed to People magazine. TMZ was who reported first on his death. he was uh the police were called to the residents um around 6.15 p.m. And he was found dead upon their arrival. Um, it was said that Gypsy Rose reportedly had wished him a happy birthday over text and that he did not respond. And then he was later found by Gypsy's brother Dylan and his wife when they arrived at his
Starting point is 00:47:38 home. They were. Why did Gypsy brother? Why did Gypsy brother? Why did Gypsy brother? Why did Gypsy? his brother go. Like that feels weird. Okay, so they didn't live together then? If he had his own home, they didn't live together? I'm going to assume, no. And then where was the daughter? That hasn't been released.
Starting point is 00:47:54 I just have so many questions. I also, initially upon finding out that he had passed, which rest in peace, my first thought was, did Gypsy have anything to do with it? I think that that was everybody's first thought. And I think just based off of the past and the history of what we know, about Gypsy Rose and why she was in prison because of the killing of D.D. And now a partner being found unresponsive. I think that's the conclusion that any person that knows her background and story would
Starting point is 00:48:28 jump to that conclusion off the rip. I just, there is so much wrong with. Like, I don't know. But was it known that he had. substance abuse issues. Like, was that, like, a known thing? Because evidently Gypsy knew it because she was... Wait, did he have substance abuse issues?
Starting point is 00:48:51 Well, is that the same thing as, like, I mean, not alcohol, but, like, was, did he have issues with drugs? Like... Well, because the, now that you say that, and obviously I don't want to speculate, but because I have questions, I'm indirectly speculating, with her comment saying, that she wouldn't care if he OD'd. That's what I'm saying. You wouldn't say that to someone who doesn't struggle with substance abuse, right?
Starting point is 00:49:17 Like that would be like, Ike has never done a drug in his life. Like that wouldn't make sense to me to say something to someone like that if I didn't know that they had that issue. You know what I'm saying? And then that further causes me to question
Starting point is 00:49:32 if that was a known thing, then how could he be filing for full custody of the child? you know what I mean? I'm texting somebody I know who might have information on this. So give me one second. Because weren't they engaged too? So why wouldn't they live together?
Starting point is 00:49:50 I mean, maybe they broke up. Because why would you be filing for custody of a child if you were actively together? So someone I know said that this outlet won't cover that this one outlet basically like keeps Gypsy Rose on their like speed dial and they said they keep naming him a fiance when they knew damn well he never proposed when they got together again after she left Ryan. So they were engaged, I guess broke up, got back together and then they're no longer engaged. How does that work? Like if you get engaged with someone and then you break up and then you guys get back together,
Starting point is 00:50:33 are you automatically reengaged? No. Like you have to repurpose? Yeah, I feel like if you break off an engagement, that's like an ending of something. I don't know. So then when you get back together, you wouldn't just automatically go back to like you're back in a relationship, but you're not back in an engagement. Like, have you been in a relationship where you go back and forth and you're like,
Starting point is 00:50:59 okay, we broke up for two weeks, but we knew we were getting back together? Yeah, David. I've been with exes where it's toxic and it's back and forth. and we're constantly breaking up and getting back together. And then it blurs the lines for like cheating or being together. And so then it's like, well, did you cheat on me or did you not? Because we broke up, but we were still together. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:18 I mean, I feel like that is cheating if we are in an understanding that this is just like a toxic cycle of stuff that we go through. And then you know for a fact that like in two weeks from now like cooler heads have prevailed that we're going to get back together. But if it was an engagement situation, if I'm just like putting myself in that situation, let's say we were engaged and then we broke up, like we called off the engagement and we broke up for two weeks and then we got back together. We're back in a relationship, but we're not back engaged. Oh, see, if it's two weeks, we're still engaged. Oh, my God. Like, we're still.
Starting point is 00:51:58 If it's five months, if it's six months, no, we're not engaged anymore. But like if it's two weeks and we're back together, like, what do you mean? In those two weeks, you realized you didn't want to. to marry me. So why are we getting back together in the first place? Because maybe we're just getting back together to like see if we should still be in a relationship. Here's the thing. If we're breaking up at this big age, if we can't just sleep in separate rooms or like you're going to go to get a hotel for the night and then come back. A hotel for the night is crazy. Yeah, that's honestly, that's taking it too far. I'm just saying like. Like the couch. The couch, you know? Truly. Or like the camper. Like go outside and
Starting point is 00:52:35 sleep in the camper for a night and then come back. sleep on the fucking couch. If we're breaking up, we don't need to be together. I also think that it's really toxic. I know we're talking about Gypsy Rose, but now we've gone off into another tangent. But I think it's really toxic to, and I can only say this from lived experience, that like you shouldn't be telling your partner to sleep on the couch or like you shouldn't be sleeping on the couch. Like what are you doing? You're doing life together. So why are we not like trying to figure this out? Just go to bed. I really don't agree with going to bed and math. either. I feel like you should figure it out. My nanny always used to say like me and your
Starting point is 00:53:12 papa never went to bed mad at each other. Like we were going to get glad in that fucking bed. Sometimes I just feel like like a cool off. Like I get that, but it's immature. I don't, going to bed mad doesn't, if we, as long as we wake up and work it out. But also you have to like the older we get. But what if you don't wake up. That's what I'm saying. It's like, that sucks. Like I could not. That would be horrendous. but also I might go sleep on the couch or in the or in one of the beds upstairs like you better come get me yeah like I need like you're not actually going to let me you're going to let me get that's trauma and then you're going to come get me you better come find me you better not let me
Starting point is 00:53:50 sleep upstairs that's trauma because I guarantee you if I have walked somewhere else in this house and I'm just really upset and I want you to fight for me and you didn't come and find me and if I fell asleep you need to pick me up and put me in the bed where you are 1,000 percent like what are we doing. Are we toxic? Yes. Okay. But that's trauma. Like us wanting somebody to chase us. No, come fucking fine. If I'm mad at you. Like we made a choice and then we want them to chase us. But is it chasing or is it just reassurance? I think both things can be true. I think we want them to chase us to reassure us. One thousand percent. You know? Come get me. So no, I don't think that you just automatically go back to an engagement. I think that that's crazy. At the point that you call off said
Starting point is 00:54:33 engagement like are you giving the ring back if you call off an engagement no you're keeping it and in the state of delaware oh my god that is your first gift and you do not have to give it back but mine was stolen back so i didn't get to pawn it unfortunately wait somebody stole it can you say who himself who he stole it yeah oh my god um and i'm like i was gonna pawn that you know Like I could have paid the mortgage for two, three months with that. Ponning stuff is honestly crazy. I've never pawned anything, but like it sounds like fun. Like should we like what kind of thing?
Starting point is 00:55:10 Let's go on pawn stars. I actually met them in Vegas. You did? Yeah, years and years and years ago. I used to watch that show all the time. Same. It was like, but it's like a thrill. But actually if you know like the pawning industry is nothing like that show.
Starting point is 00:55:23 It's not? No. You're not getting that much money for shit. My God. Okay. Okay. So back to Gypsy. I just feel like.
Starting point is 00:55:31 It could be very true that he very much struggled with his mental health and then possible substance abuse. And maybe it was an OD. I think they've come out and said that. Oh, they did? I think somewhere it was reported like this morning that it was an overdose or something. I thought I read something saying that like this scene was horrific. Oh, wow. But I don't, maybe I'm making that up.
Starting point is 00:55:57 Did I dream this? I'm truly not trying to speculate in any way sure. shape or form, but like hold on a second because, oh, no, you are absolutely correct. It says Ray Clark posted trigger warning. This post discusses death suspected drug use and details from law enforcement report that some may find disturbing. According to the sheriff's office, Ken was discovered unresponsive inside his residence after family became concerned when they couldn't reach him.
Starting point is 00:56:24 The report contains additional details about what deputies observed at the scene. and it says this is directly from the report. Dylan Blanchard was able to gain access to his bedroom window due to it being unlocked and was able to see him lying on his bed unconscious. Once they realized he was not answering Mr. Blanchard and Justin moved the blinds and made entry through the window. He was cold to the touch and advised the other person advised that he did touch Ken and learn that he was cold and not breathing. they advised that Ken was deceased and that they had left out of the residence without touching him or any property inside the residence. Deputies entered the residence through the front door and was able to see Ken from the living room lying on his back in the bed.
Starting point is 00:57:15 They walked in the direction of his room and located paraphernalia syringes and spoon in the bathroom next to a brown powdery substance. Deputies located a syringe and a handgun on the nightstand next to the bed. He was found lying on the bed on his back, cold to the touch, and appeared to have been there for an extended period of time. His face and arms were blue. He had paper towel placed on his left arm with what appeared to be blotches of blood on the paper towel. The handgun on the nightstand was holstered laying next to two shot glasses and a syringe. Nothing else inside of the bedroom appeared to be disturbed or moved. So that sounds like an overdose to me.
Starting point is 00:57:56 How sad. I just, this is so sad. It's just so sad and I do agree with like the things that Gypsy said in the statement, right? Like I do believe that we need to be more cautious about the way that we and I say we, but we don't participate in this. But people that are publicly followed and are being talked about on these like T platforms and the Reddits and the Facebook pages. and all of the things.
Starting point is 00:58:30 I think that there is a responsibility to the general public to, like, not perpetuate some of the things that are perpetuated that causes people to spiral into these mental health crises. I would agree. Because could this have been prevented if he didn't get the amount of hate and backlash that he got online? I mean, I think that depression is one thing. Suicidal ideation is one thing.
Starting point is 00:58:56 But to have people say certain things. that that could be the one thing that pushes you over the edge. Right. Like you were barely hanging on and now all of a sudden you're just pushed over. It's just a sad situation.
