Starting point is 00:00:00 I hate gift giving and receiving receiving gifts is so weird. What do you say? Thank you? This is coffee convos with Kale Lowry and Lindsay Chrisley. I really want you to be in your feels Kale That does not interest me whatsoever. I feel very attacked by you a spirited discussion about motherhood friendship Family and life in the public eye. I'm just not with the fakery anymore. There's a fakery bakery around here. Here's Kale and Lindsay Hello kitty gang Oh my god Wait before we even get started I love all the technical difficulties that we have been having over the past couple of weeks
Starting point is 00:00:40 I don't know if this is like bad vibes or if this is just Technology really testing us at this point or what's going on but Kale is joining from her phone today So hello Kaleen I think I have the exact same issues that you were having. I think last week and I don't know I feel like the universe is just like resetting us like this is like a much needed sign that we need to just like reset So I hope you guys can hear me well I am I have my phone propped up on a roll of toilet paper and I'm sitting at my desk
Starting point is 00:01:19 Just so that it's like closer to my mouth. I'm glad that you aren't sitting on the toilet because yeah, I actually yeah I haven't had like Super unexpected diarrhea in a long time. So we can all be thankful for that. Oh, wow. So Speaking of that, how how is the bowel movements? Oh There goes my computer. I restarted it when she is there. She goes. I hope that she works when she comes back on my Bowel movements are Still very runny, but they're not like I'm not like shitting my pants lately. So that's good
Starting point is 00:01:59 I actually I'm sitting at my computer desk in my office at home and I bought this therapy light and It's called day light like I don't I don't know it's a therapy lamp my my therapist told me about it And you like sit in front of it for like 20 to 30 minutes a day and it's supposed to help So I started yesterday. I'm gonna take a picture and we can post it But I don't know if anyone else has ever tried one I'm hoping that it starts to work like this is exciting Suspiciously sounds like the asshole bleaching Mmm, so you think that it wouldn't work I'm starting to think you might be a conspiracy theorist. Oh
Starting point is 00:02:39 Oh, it's like well crystals the We find Kale in her backyard with her butthole to the Sun and now we are doing Therapy lamps like this is a pattern of behavior At this point is it like more holistic Yeah, that's what I was that's the word I was looking for a whole list of it is alternative approach to normalcy not not in not in Like by itself, it's like in conjunction with like medicine therapy
Starting point is 00:03:21 Doctors that are not holistic. It's kind of like I'm like doing the crunchy stuff on the side. I Okay, you know is literally Doing crunchy on the side, but modern medicine on the forefront, right? Yeah So it is does that mean it's party in the back or in the front? Which one is it? I would say party in the back I think it's party party on the sides We're adding sideburns to the mullet, you know, I Love this wait. Okay. So can you tell me have you gone outside?
Starting point is 00:03:57 Anymore and bleached your asshole? I have not I Really haven't but so that was a one-and-done or well, I never actually did it Okay, so we were just talking about doing it. So you're because my Neighbors would in fact even though they're far like their acres and acres away if they let their dogs out their front door They would in fact see me sending my asshole I'll tell you if I lived near-house. It was like a couple acres away. I for sure would own a pair of binoculars Like I would be that person but wait, can we just like back up for a second about this asshole bleaching thing because I
Starting point is 00:04:45 Really would like you to do a video if at all possible To show like where this was gonna transpire was this gonna be on like a lounge chair Were you just like bareback like on the ground? the asshole bleaching I Think I would go to a place. I don't think I would do it at home. Although one of our Former guests on coffee combos I'm not gonna say who it is because I didn't ask her for permission
Starting point is 00:05:16 But she messaged me and she like sold out Product for asshole bleaching on tiktok like she like sold it out and she like swears by it and she did it at home We love that for her. I need to get on tiktok and find that product And I'll let you guys know if I do find it and if I in fact bleached it Outside of that. Can you tell me why you have a form of cats that are in your new home at this point? and I saw a photo that you posted of Elijah on the coffee combos fan page on Facebook and I went on there and said you said something like
Starting point is 00:06:00 The statement was like I woke up from a nap. No, he woke up from a nap. Oh He woke up from a nap to cat to new new kitty. Yeah new kittens and he did not agree to new kittens Um So I read that wrong So I was like well He would also be finding a new home because like the way that I read it was like he brought home all these cats Oh, no, he's not a fan of the cats at all Let's get into it
Starting point is 00:06:32 He's gonna be your best friend if you're also not a fan of the cats like he's not He is not happy. He was not happy but He is Truly a sport a good sport about it because he built me like this huge cat tree And he cut a door a hole in the door In a closet space for them to use the litter box And so the litter box is like out of sight out of mind and it doesn't stink or anything
Starting point is 00:07:03 But yeah, he so but I only have two kittens in the house. There's only two kittens in the house the rest are out in the barn Um V and Joe had given me two kittens They rescued from like literally a collapsing building or whatever and they were so back up Why were V and Joe at a collapsing building? How many cats do you currently have and? No, I have so many questions Okay, why um Um, so Joe does like real estate and he does he owns a home vestors franchise or whatever and so he buys
Starting point is 00:07:41 Houses and then like fixes them up and then rents them out So I guess this was like, I don't know if this is like one of his properties I hope it was for the sake of this podcast. I'm gonna say it is because I don't know if that's like stealing if you don't own it And I'm not here to incriminate my son's father, but um So He they saved two kittens
Starting point is 00:08:04 There was more and a mom but like the other ones like disappeared and they never saw them again So they were like here that these kittens you want them and I was like, yeah And I tried to make them indoor cats like I tried to I had them in the house. I tried to have them in here Um, Elijah also was not happy about that. Um, but they never were nice Like we had them in the house for days and days. They were hissing And just like not friendly. They're feral. They're feral cats Um, and so they're in the barn the barn has litter food water shelter Hey, um
Starting point is 00:08:40 All kinds of stuff like it's not like a it's not like They're just like outside roaming but they do go outside and they're in the barn sometimes so there's two grown barn cats that I rescued from Um spca the spca literally called me because when I moved here, I was like, hey, do you guys have barn cats? Um I'm moving to A farm basically this was an old farm before I bought it um, and I'm looking for something to keep like the rodents away and obviously I would never make like an indoor cat an outdoor cat
Starting point is 00:09:13 Like I wouldn't do that. So these are feral cats Um, they're adults. They're fixed and then we added the two kittens that joan v saved To the barn cats and they're also there's four outside and then I have two inside but um All the outside ones are fixed But can I just tell you what happened to me this morning and I'm pissed off about it Is it about the cats because if you're getting on another topic then no Okay, no, it's about the cats. So, um The kittens when I picked up the second adult barn cat from the spca that they like called me and asked if I wanted and I said, yeah
Starting point is 00:09:49 We Isaac and I saw these two little kittens in the spca and they're not from the same litter They're a little bit ones a little bit older than the other whatever, but they're so fucking cute We fell in love we needed the one of them and then I was like, do they do better in pairs and she was like, yeah And I was like perfect. I'll take both Um, and she's like, okay She's like but since they're not old enough to like be adopted you have to foster them first And that just basically means that you bring them to all their vet appointments Um before you know until they get fixed and once they're fixed. They're officially yours. So I was like, okay bet
Starting point is 00:10:18 Well, I couldn't go on the actual day that they assigned me because I had to get the like emergency route canal So I show up I made another appointment for this morning to take them to get fixed Because they were supposed to get fixed this morning at between 8 and 8 30 I show up there not only is it closed But this woman comes out and she's like, oh we actually Our vet isn't coming in and we're we are not doing any surgeries and I was like, oh, okay cool I'm like, well a phone call or a text would have been nice because now I have to go to a separate appointment for myself at 9 And I have these fucking kittens in the car. Oh my god. Okay. Well, first of all
Starting point is 00:10:57 I feel like that that is A crazy thing that I've never heard that you Do it's basically like a real adoption process with like a human Yeah, because I think the whole idea for the spca is like making sure all the kittens and the dogs are fixed because they don't want the population to like multiply Yeah, so wait, can you tell me How many cats that you actually have like on site at what I'm gonna now call as your farm I have four outside two inside. So six
Starting point is 00:11:33 No, like literally No, and two dogs because gizmo passed away. Okay, that's sad rip um I need to tell you that suburban dad sent me this photo and it goes along with like the cats But this is a dead one And we'll post it It's so bad and I'm like I need everyone to write in and tell us like what their prediction is that happened to this cat Um, but it's literally laid out and I'm not sure what possessed him to send me a photo of this like
Starting point is 00:12:09 That's so morbid and you know what when I was picking up these kittens from the spca she was like um, I forget what the exact term and Kristen might know it. Um, she was like Now I don't want you to get down on yourself, but sometimes Kittens just fade away and I was like what and she was like fading kittens fading kittens And I was like what and she's like sometimes they just die without rhyme or reason and I was like, oh my god That is so morbid like these kittens I wouldn't consider myself like a cat person or a dog person
Starting point is 00:12:43 But like these kittens are fucking cute like I will be devastated if one dies It says fading kitten syndrome refers to a kitten's failure to thrive during the period between birth and when they wean from their mother Or from a bottle for hand-fed kittens This period lasts for about four to five weeks when the kitten is most vulnerable to sickness. So is this kind of like SIDS That's what I'm yes, like the kitten version of yeah, like humans have sids and yeah so I was really sad because Lux and Isaac I mean Lincoln's like he doesn't really he's indifferent, but like oh and creed they love the kittens
Starting point is 00:13:23 Like I don't think I've ever made a better decision in my Oh my gosh, but your furniture and like they're probably like clawing No, I'm gonna send you a picture of the tinfoil everywhere because um Everyone was telling me about how the kittens. Oh, there's one right? Oh my god. There's one by the door. I wish I could take a picture um They're they don't like tinfoil everyone in the group was telling me they don't like tinfoil So I put tinfoil on the first three bottom steps of my um to go upstairs
Starting point is 00:13:53 So they don't because I have only carpet up there So I don't want them while they're litter training to go upstairs at all and then I have litter or not litter I have um foil on The coffee table and so they can't they don't I don't want them on the coffee table I love this for you. Did you put foil on your kitchen counters? They have not even attempted to go up on my kitchen counters because that's a straight up no for me Okay, I am so excited for the next coffee combos podcast trip that we are in the process of planning Away is the luggage that we all use and I'm obsessed. I am also obsessed
Starting point is 00:14:34 I know these days looks different with travel and everything but no matter where you need to go Away offers a range of suitcases that are just absolutely amazing. The travel products are made of different materials and in variety of colors and sizes and I have various different ones like sometimes when I go on a road trip I take one and then I have a different one that goes through the airport a different one that's a carry on They just have absolutely amazing products Whatever you need to bring with you away has luggage that will help make your next trip truly more seamless and like Kristen said We all use away luggage. I especially love that they are so durable With the exterior and that they're like literally built to last because I can't tell you I have had zero
Starting point is 00:15:25 Good experiences with bagged handlers and like I always end up having a tear in my suitcase or a crack in my hard shell ones But away it does not have that problem. So I love investing in pieces that are going to last me a long time I love organization. So I love the interior organization system It includes built-in compression pads to help you be able to pack more in and they have a hidden and removable laundry rag that separates your dirty clothes from clean and I absolutely hate my dirty clothes being on my clean clothes And they have a new line of soft side suitcases that are made with durable water-resistant nylon Exteriors that are made to last for a lifetime
Starting point is 00:16:10 They have an easy to access front pocket that fits the essentials that you need on hand to like your laptop Passports tickets books cords you name it and they are just absolutely so great There's a hundred day trial on everything that away makes you can take the product down on the road Live with it travel with it even get lost with it for a hundred days. Starting point is 00:16:54 Including their best-selling suitcases at away travel.com slash coffee. That's a way travel.com slash coffee Outside of the cats and my true concern for how many that you have I want to give you a co-parenting update Yes, please do because I got blown out about Me discussing it on coffee combos. What was it like a week ago? Was it last week or yes? Yep
Starting point is 00:17:22 Yeah, I got blown out about it And so I feel like I need to discuss that a little bit. It's hard when your job or the career that you choose Is also like a part of your Real life. Does that make sense? Like yeah, absolutely. Yeah, I am documenting my real life and what goes on With my listeners or our listeners every single week on instagram. Whatever
Starting point is 00:17:52 and so I don't have any control of what the media decides to run Like if they pick up a clip and you you know this yourself We're not out here pitching stuff to these tabloids to be like, hey, run this run this No, no, we literally don't have to because they pick up whatever the fuck they want agreed so um kind of got accused of that and then I was just like, you know what whatever he did keep
Starting point is 00:18:23 Jackson for a couple of extra days leading up to Me testifying in the trial He did do that What I was referencing on the episode that I think he was unclear about was that Depending on what happened when the verdict came down Was going to determine
Starting point is 00:18:47 What I needed to do in regards to my family and that was on a friday We did not know if the jury was going to be done deliberating whatever so If the verdict would have come down on that day that would have determined And where I needed to be and what I needed to do after court without going into too much detail so I needed the security to know that I could get
Starting point is 00:19:15 Jackson to will and I didn't have to worry about getting back to him until the morning time because I didn't know what was going to be required of me right and so at that time he had sent me a text and said that He had plans on the next day and he couldn't keep Jackson So that's what I was referencing in regards to his golf and drinking plans Totally fine for him to have plans. We are now divorced. There's a reason why we're divorced many reasons why we're divorced but Had that
Starting point is 00:19:52 been him needing that help and knowing the circumstances I would have cancelled my plans and that was my my whole point So I think that's I thought that point was made very clear because I also said that Yeah, so I don't know where that that was like There was a disconnect anywhere there, but I just wanted to very clearly clear that up and then Jackson's and Vacation Bible School this week at the church and Will had a doctor's appointment this morning
Starting point is 00:20:24 and so I needed to help him because Jackson needed to get at Bible school and that was at 845 this morning and Will took the first doctor's appointment, which I'm sure was booked way in advance, you know, whatever So I said would it not just be easier if I picked Jackson up later this evening instead of you dropping him off here at 7am Because then that would require him to like wake up super early for him to drop him off at 7 like no need for all of that right and so I stepped in and helped him and I just wanted to notate that for anyone who's listening that is not my family anymore that Any information that's been given about how I don't step in or whatever when something is needed. I absolutely do
Starting point is 00:21:10 um, but then Will and Jackson went to have sushi last night and I guess we're over our spat because um, Will hung out on the porch played with Georgia and Jackson and in the yard yesterday evening and Jackson immediately came in when Will left and started taking a massive shit and I'm like Okay, like do you not feel comfortable shitting at dads? Um, because you're taking a massive dump immediately and like I just need to know the background of this, you know story So I text Will and my exact text to him is does he not feel comfortable shitting at your house because he took a massive Dump immediately and will respond probably has to do with eating a whole sushi roll. I did the same I said, well, I wasn't inquiring about your bowel movements, but thanks for sharing
Starting point is 00:21:59 He said No problem I said y'all going and getting tapeworms is something that I am doc documenting And so I just wanted to be documented on here that I don't know what type of sushi those two are eating but evidently it caused massive shits and That's where we are I also
Starting point is 00:22:23 It's just so questionable Like I would have to take a modium if I was to go get like any type of sushi anywhere because it's very hit or miss for me so I also would like to say that Georgia slept with Jackson for the first time ever and I told him after she was potty Trained that I would let her start sleeping with him in his bed and so Caroline was over last night and we were attempting to make English muffins, but that got burnt if you follow me on instagram and that was just a shit show and
Starting point is 00:22:51 We were also having a champagne night and I've let Jackson and Georgia go upstairs. You know, I was testing it out Whatever so this morning I wake up take a picture of them. They're so precious together send it to will Which by the way, he never sends me photos Um, I send it to him and his response is bad news for you. I'm an excellent health What so I guess you got a good report from his doctor That he was in excellent health and the only thing that I had to say was oh god like thank you Thank you sir for sharing so that is my
Starting point is 00:23:30 I don't know about you, but is that not flirting like is he flirting? I don't know that will knows what flirting is to be honest Like but that is will's version of flirting for sure. I like hate the situation that you guys are in and like this like new Uncharted water, um, but because it's still new I would say, um, but I really liked will and um I You know what? I mean, I'm would you be mad if I send him some dollars dollar short candles No, I wouldn't be mad if you send him some dollar short candles to send them also. What was it called? Midnight? Uh, don't remember
Starting point is 00:24:08 Well, I forget what they're called, but literally that that alone put him in bad health. I feel like so That's yeah, that's why he was questioning his health in the first place. Yeah For sure, but so basically you're calling out will for flirting with me. Um, yeah, I am but Um, yeah over time, but I feel like I like him. I obviously don't like him for you anymore. But like I'm always gonna respect him because he's jackson's dad. I just Is it I think that's flirting. I do think that's flirting
Starting point is 00:24:44 I don't know about you, but my entire life is on my phone Whether it's work or planning my summer vacation listening to podcasts obviously and just connecting with the world So why are they so fragile? The feeling of dropping your phone is the absolute worst My heart sinks every time that happens So I've always been looking for a case and screen protector for protection And you guys tell me about bodyguards and it's proving that cases don't have to be big and bulky to be protective And I love my bodyguards case outside of how much I love bodyguards I don't have time to be busting up my phone and going and waiting for
Starting point is 00:25:21 Or it to be repaired. So the fact that I can have a case on it like bodyguards. It's sleek It's not bulky. It fits into like all of my clutches. I know that my screen is protected Is such a perk and I probably have 20 bodyguards cases No lie like all backups because we know that I love to switch out my case For those of you who have not heard about bodyguards Um, they're all designed by the bodyguards team in the us and they're built for both protection and style in mind Which I absolutely love because sometimes a protective case like isn't that cuter stylish And cases are engineered to protect your phone from 8 feet 10 feet or even 12 feet drops
Starting point is 00:26:02 Cases are slim and pocket friendly. So you barely know that it's even on your phone And they have tons of colors and styles to choose from so remember when a screen protector breaks It is saving your phone bodyguards knows this so they offer free replacements for the life of your device You only pay shipping and when you buy from bodyguards a portion of your purchase supports your charity foundation called relief haven Which gives back to the local community as well as abroad to help children in africa escape child labor and gain education And self-reliance go to bodyguards.com slash coffee to protect your phone today That's bodyguards with a z at the end comm slash coffee to start protecting your valuable phone today It has been so hard for me to find time to work out
Starting point is 00:26:48 Recently between just all of my jobs and you know, sometimes just not even feeling motivated to get up and get moving It has been a little bit rough Except peloton has the best classes that I am going to start trying and I cannot wait I think once you start doing peloton classes, you're going to be so excited about it The one thing that I love is just being able to Have the convenience of having it in my home So if I'm kind of like in a time crunch or I'm just not feeling like going to the gym that I have that option there And I love that they have world-class instructors that truly motivate you and can do that 24 seven
Starting point is 00:27:30 Um, their instructors are highly trained fitness pros who made who motivate you through every workout So whether you're a regular at the gym or someone who's just getting back into working out like christen is Whatever your fitness level peloton instructors don't just teach they motivate and they have thousands of live and on-demand classes So you can always keep it fresh. I know for me If I get in a routine of doing the same thing over and over again, that's not for me So they have cycling strength training yoga and running and you can experiment with new types of movement Judgment free at a level in a pace that feels good for you Right now is the perfect time to try out peloton. The peloton bike plus is now $500 less
Starting point is 00:28:14 It's the best price yet and it includes free delivery and setup There are more game changing prices available on the original peloton bike and peloton tread and visit one peloton.com to learn more about Outside of that, it was father's day weekend last weekend. And how did that go? Do you Share your kids every father's day with their dads or do you sometimes have them sometimes don't? No, I never have them. I can't think of a time. I've ever had them for father's day Um, they all go to their dads. I emailed and texted um
Starting point is 00:28:51 Each of them and just asked like hey like normally they would go on a sunday at five and six Um, but I was like hey, it's father's day like what time do you want them? And then they all gave me like the times that they wanted And it was just literally a fucking Like I'm a fucking bus like I'm a bus and I make stops and I make stops at all my baby dad's house like there's no So joe was like if you could have him here before um by 10 that would be great and then hobby lives like literally less than a mile from there So I was like, all right. Well, Lincoln texted your dad because I didn't feel like emailing him back Um, tell him I'm gonna drop you off after I drop Isaac off and then I had to be in Middletown
Starting point is 00:29:31 Which is like 40 minutes or so Um to drop me and chris met halfway to have the babies there at 12. So it was just like um a Cluster fuck that sounds like such a cluster and I would love to know parents who are And co-parenting situations What that looks like because your situation looks very different than mine outside of the fact that I only have one child and you have multiples and then The I did give all of them gifts like cards with gift cards on them though. I love that Um, I didn't sign the cards only the kids sign the cards wait
Starting point is 00:30:08 I did not wait. I've got to talk about that too. But my situation is different because I feel like my And probably everybody says this that your co-parenting schedule makes the most sense because it's like what makes the most sense to you But like everything set in stone. So like Mother's Day weekend is Um An entire weekend and like Father's Day weekend is an entire weekend in my parenting plan. So Oh, cool. That's kind of nice because I thought long term when I was
Starting point is 00:30:41 Mapping out this parenting plan and the hopes that we didn't have to go back and readjust and we we have had to In regards to like Week on week off. We tried that we've tried like splitting the week like multiple different things there But as far as like the holidays and stuff I'm like, I'm not in the business to like be trying to make someone's life hard or someone trying to make my life hard and so We just do weekends So that if will wanted to you know, he's got brothers too
Starting point is 00:31:12 So when they become dads one of them already is a dad and then his dad He can take him for an entire weekend. Like if they want to go to the lake, whatever Um, and same thing for me for Mother's Day. So it just makes it easier and clear cut Um, and that starts on a Friday. So I would love to know what other people are doing I don't know what other people Do because I'm like, okay. No on the day of like texting and emailing and doing all of that stuff I'm like trying to figure out, you know, where this one needs to go and that one needs to go that is chaos, but I know that you
Starting point is 00:31:49 Operate just as well in chaos Actually, you probably operate better in chaos with them without chaos at this point Honestly, though, that doesn't sound like a bad idea at all and I kind of love it. I also Like we've talked about it before like switching instead of Sundays doing Mondays because then you you don't have to cut your Sunday plans in half Um, and that makes perfect sense. I love the weekend thing and you're right because I mean Somehow I gravitated towards dads for my children that all have huge extended families that would do weekend stuff Um, so next year, I mean, I I personally don't mind, you know, if I don't really go anywhere
Starting point is 00:32:29 So I don't care if I don't get the full weekend, but I might offer the full weekend next year I just think it's good because then it allows them to actually have a plan outside of like I Know some people that just do it for like a couple of hours Like if it falls on the other parents weekend, that parent can observe the holiday for a couple of hours on that Sunday And to me, I'm just like that fucks up everybody's schedule. Nobody's trying to do that Um, let's just make it easy and clear cut. So that's how I've done it But I would be interested to know how other people do it outside of that though father's day Kristen had sent me a funny tick talk and it will post it
Starting point is 00:33:11 But it's like ladies remember to match the same energy you received on mother's day And it's like this mom sitting and playing a video game with a headset on and like a dog going crazy in the background And I would love to know how many of you guys If you're in a co-parenting situation if the if your child's Or children's dad does something for you Or if y'all are like past that or they never did Um, we always celebrated mother's and father's day
Starting point is 00:33:43 when we were married Um, and will dropped off stuff on my porch on mother's day He did the same thing for my birthday um And then I also Got some things for Jackson or with Jackson for will and for his dad and so I would just love to know what other people do because in my mind
Starting point is 00:34:10 That is something that's never going to change. I don't care how long We have been divorced or not together like they're still I still have respect for will in that aspect of our lives and so he's always going to be Jackson's dad And I'm always going to recognize him on Father's day and I just don't know like what's your position on that?
Starting point is 00:34:36 um, I try to do cards and something small for everybody for father's day. I always Wish them a happy father's day. Um, this year it didn't come from me at all. It just came from the kids Um, joe did wish me a happy mother's day and ve got me something Um, I did not even get a text or an email from hobby or chris this year for mother's day It is just It's hard and I know that you know, we have dubbed these or I have I don't know about we but Hallmark holidays, right like valentine's day. I could take it or leave it, right? Um, right but
Starting point is 00:35:16 when other people around you and you know, everybody else Is celebrating mother's day and you are a mother just the recognition alone just to send a simple text kind of goes back to what I was saying, um about my situation with will last week About being in a sticky spot and not even you know, getting a text of like acknowledgement of that Same thing for mother's day or father's day like an acknowledgement there goes a long way Um, but I'm kind of up the mindset as well. I don't want to fake Text like we're not running a fakery bakery. And so if you don't feel Inclined to do that. I'm not going to call you out on doing that. I'm going to let you live and do you but
Starting point is 00:36:00 I've noticed and taken note It is hurtful though. Um, in my opinion just not even getting a thought. Yes. I don't need a gift I don't need a card. I don't need any of that but Um, and and and it's not their problem at all. Like it truly isn't but I don't have a mom so I'm not celebrating anybody for mother's day um and I want to just just know that like what I do doesn't go unnoticed unnoticed. I don't know. Yeah
Starting point is 00:36:32 I agree. Just a simple text or an email like And it doesn't even like and and even for what I did for my kids dad's like I didn't it wasn't from me It was from them. Right and I mean just an acknowledgement of like hey, I see you as My child's mother and thank you for collaborating with me on this co-parenting journey We don't get along every day. In fact, we don't get along at all. But like Thank you for what you do. Right 100%, you know, very very simple. Um Well, so you got them cards and give cards to the kids fill them out
Starting point is 00:37:11 Yeah, the kids wrote um Lux had like a little bit of a meltdown because he messed up on the envelope picture And I said lux you your dad's gonna love it no matter what like but he does not want to disappoint Lincoln's the same way. They do not want to disappoint their fathers. That is so Funny like Jackson would never think twice about that. It's like if his jay is backwards like no fuck's given I love that his picture is gets messed up. He'll scribble it out. Yeah, no Lux and Lincoln are the same way when it comes to like messing up on like If they think their dad won't like something
Starting point is 00:37:50 That is like the only time especially for Lincoln that he'll get really emotional less lesson Okay, wait, so give us a little quick update. Um on your mental health and And where you are with that and then I want to talk about pray and obey because I actually watched it this weekend okay, so I tapered off of zoloft completely and then um yesterday was my last day on zoloft and I Am on lexapro now, um I don't know if it's like so while I was tapering off of the zoloft. They had me start the
Starting point is 00:38:28 Lexa pro. Sorry. I had a brain fart Lexa pro and so, um It's like balanced out and then yesterday I Was able to start working on my closet and I helped clean the house Natalie helped me clean the house. Thank god for her. She's an angel on this earth um and You know, I was I've been feeling Optimistic doesn't it feel so good outside of your medicine change
Starting point is 00:38:55 It does not feel so good when you have like a girlfriend come over and it's like they help you do something And you feel like you have been productive Yes, like it's the best feeling right? Yeah, and then when she was she was Leaving and I was like, where are you going? Like why are you leaving? Um, and she's like, well, you know, I have like my own house and my own life She didn't say that but I know that's like, yeah Fuck like I finally feel good today. Like I guess good. Um, I feel decent
Starting point is 00:39:29 Yesterday and um, so it was just like I'm sad because like I want to hang out Um, but obviously like the world doesn't revolve around me or whatever. Um, but yeah, I I'm very hopeful on this medication Um, I did have a doctor appointment this morning Um to let him know like how I'm feeling and stuff like that and um, he said everything sounds good So he'll see me next month. So You watched keep sweet pray and obey Last week and then I watched it this weekend and
Starting point is 00:44:50 I can just tell you that um, I don't I've been freaked out a lot in my life But after watching this like I was truly so alarmed and felt so uneasy and just like It made my stomach like not feel settled like I wanted to have diarrhea after watching this and I I just don't know how And I don't want to sound insensitive whatsoever, but I Just don't understand how you can get in a situation and you see this so often with like Colton stuff of how people get truly brainwashed into
Starting point is 00:45:32 This thinking and it's easy for me to say I don't see how because that's not the environment that I was raised in right? Mm-hmm, but I just don't No, I mean I felt I did feel the same way and we've kind of had conversations like this before Um, I also don't want to sound insensitive, but and I don't want to victim shame either But like I I genuinely Don't understand it like I don't understand how like Like anyone believe like the things that you know, the flds Leaders were saying and doing
Starting point is 00:46:07 They don't make it doesn't make sense and like it being an offshoot like a far offshoot of Um Mormonism That should have told you enough that they had to like break off into their own branch and do things that was No longer allowed in like regular Mormon like typical Mormon church and like practice Um with the wives thing like that should tell you in and of itself that there was something Not okay about it. So mainly What was so
Starting point is 00:46:38 Crazy to me was just the fact that About the three wives thing and like Like that doesn't even make sense Yeah, I don't why and why young girls like what where they they were just pedophila. They were always like pedophiles or What was this? What was the reasoning for them being so like young and younger and younger and younger? Like it just doesn't make any like And these these men are fathers
Starting point is 00:47:05 Of their own 14 year olds, but let me go marry somebody else's 14 year old Well, it was almost like this exchange type program, right? It's like okay. I have all of these daughters and I'm going to give them to That's disgusting other men and It is but at the same time this was also They're upbringing what they were taught or what they came to believe And they believe that this way of living was the right way
Starting point is 00:47:37 of living and But there was a guy in the documentary that was not raised this way and he joined in as an adult electively electively like Why why would you? And and I just it is very hard and I I truly anyone listening to this like I'm truly not trying to be insensitive like This is genuine curiosity and I want to understand it and I have empathy for all the victims that were
Starting point is 00:48:07 That are ever involved in things like this, but like it is very very difficult for me to understand and I don't I mean It's just like a weird Well, it's the same thing for difficult for me to understand the way of living with the duggers, you know Like same thing and for those of you who have not watched this documentary. It is a netflix documentary it's called keep sweet pray and obey and um, it is about the fundamentalist church of jesus christ of ladder day saints and truly eye-opening um about the effects of
Starting point is 00:48:41 power when placed in the hands of horrific men um That are basically doing these horrific things and backing these horrific actions Based off of fundamentalist religion
Starting point is 00:49:02 um There's just so Many things about this documentary. I think that everyone needs to watch it It was a great watch. Um uncomfortable to watch though and I just I don't understand how Anyone's thinking
Starting point is 00:49:25 would think that It was a a truly normal way of living like I need to get this wife And then this wife and then this wife like there was no true I don't see how that is It's
Starting point is 00:49:44 a thought process that would be a normal train of thought does that make sense? Yeah, absolutely. It does and I It's disturbing too because The children that were getting the women the young girls that were getting married to these, you know at one point I think it was like a 14 or 15 year old girl was marrying an 86 year old um They didn't even know What sex was and so when they were essentially
Starting point is 00:50:13 forced to have sex and to um Consummate the marriage and they didn't even know what sex was Um, that is rape Um, and they knew it was wrong. They didn't want to do it um I cannot imagine Being my 14 year old self again and someone that I looked up to as a father figure or an uncle because this was a fairly small community
Starting point is 00:50:39 I mean big for to us like for a cult but like to that I mean if you look at the grand the grand scheme of things. It was a fairly small community um These were all essentially like like father figures uncle figures and now you're gonna marry them and have sex with them and then the one leader of The flds actually married some of his stepmothers when his father died. Yeah, so are you talking about warren? Uh, yes. Yeah How crazy is that but I wanted to go back on the the part about
Starting point is 00:51:13 the girls not Really understanding about sex and having no knowledge of that and how babies were made and One of the girls said on the documentary that she thought babies were made by kissing kissing and to Grow up in an environment to where You basically are blindsided by all of this Um, because they're they're withholding important information for you to be able to live in a What we would deem as a normal society
Starting point is 00:51:48 um I also feel like these leaders preyed on the ignorance of The children that they were raising in this community but the fact that The fundamentalist ladder of ladder day saints is still up and running. Um First of all, there were members of this community this cult going to visit warren jeff's after he's been convicted of The crimes that he committed they were still going to like
Starting point is 00:52:18 Hear him preach and like take notes from from prison Yeah, so it says that he was convicted of two counts of child sexual assault in 2011 and at that time Warren had already been behind bars for being Unaccomplished to rape a crime that he was convicted of in 2007 and he spent a year on the feis most wanted list and He is serving time at a prison in texas
Starting point is 00:52:48 He was given life sentence plus 20 years in 2011 and that he wouldn't be eligible for parole until 2038 And while in prison, he tried to hang himself um, but He was allowed like visits. Um And people still But I think keel it goes back to like the brainwashing, right? I guess
Starting point is 00:53:17 I I don't understand it. So like it's hard for me to yeah, you're right. It does um, and The closest thing that I can relate it to is like my toxic relationship that I could not get out of it's like abusive relationships that you You want to believe what this person is saying and you want them to change or you want, you know You want everything that they're saying to come to fruition Um, and you end up blaming yours. I don't know like that's the only way because I could for five years I couldn't get out of it and so that's like pretty much the only like the closest thing that I could um
Starting point is 00:53:49 Relate it to and like if you're not in it, you do not understand it. And so I think it's the same thing for the flds is like We're not in it. So we can't speak on it. We don't understand it No, we're just Viewers of this speaking on what we're watching. Yeah, and truly not being able to understand the complexities and intricacies of Being brainwashed. Yeah, but like he is allowed visits from family in
Starting point is 00:54:22 prison and I do think that it has to do with the fact that These people who followed him Truly believed that he was a prophet and wrongly convicted I just I want to help them members of the flds um They say that they often pray for his release
Starting point is 00:54:50 No, I want to help these women understand like You can believe in others like there are other ways of life that are more free You can believe in god and the prophet and everything else in another way, but this isn't it I would love to know um anyone who is listening to this I want to say this is in no way um To be harmful to to anyone but to really gain a better understanding of
Starting point is 00:55:27 This community and why They think this way and to get a better grasp of like the background of You know just outside of the documentary. So, you know people I'm sure people who are listening. Um, I don't know I'm sure have had either interactions with people who are part of this Group or maybe a part of it themselves that could give us Some background information to help us better understand. Yeah Just wanted to say one last thing on this before we move on that Warren Jeffs had 78 wives at the time of his arrest he's discussing
Starting point is 00:56:04 70 78 wives and he kicked out his own brothers out of the out of the church Yeah, like he's he's not well. Um Outside of that I am going to Have a call with my attorney, but before I go um We are going to change out our foul play this week with a prank call Yes, and Kristen, please mute me because I will be laughing
