Starting point is 00:00:50 It came in a box, but I'm not going to do an unboxing because you know how to open a box. But anyway, I've had the device for about three weeks now, and I have to say, it looks and feels like a premium product. Aces have really outdone themselves with the build quality here. As you know, you've probably seen a million videos in the ports located around the device, so I'm not going to really bore you with that. If you're watching this video, you're most probably curious about this product. You're probably wondering about the numerous issues that have been floating around the internet. I've only got one of those issues and that is the GPS. My GPS is completely dead and non-existent.
Starting point is 00:01:21 It's listed on my box, my packaging but it's just not there. But apart from that, everything else works just fine as you'll see in this video. So obviously as you guys probably know this device is quad-core, proof of that just there. Stand-by clock speed is about 200 megahertz on one core. So you're probably wondering how does this stack up to a notebook? I've actually got a Windows 7 Intel Atom, gross. network here, the Samsung one, and they look kind of similar except obviously the Transformer Prime is very very slim compared to the other netbook which is about a year
Starting point is 00:01:56 and a half old. Just some useful settings here that Aces are put in. You can change your touchpad from gesture style to point style so it kind of gives you more flexibility so gesture style obviously is like pinched to zoom and all that kind of stuff but using the track pad and pointer style is just your normal Windows style point of really I found that if you turn super IPS mode on and turn the brightness down to zero or just above zero it actually saved quite a bit of battery connectivity let's talk about that so if you are worried about the prime only having one USB port fear no more because for about 10 or 15 bucks you can get an adapter that can
Starting point is 00:02:37 expand it to as many as you like I've got four here so this is a one terabyte hard drive disc so now my prime has over 1 terabytes of storage just like that and so you'll see it's preparing the data storage takes about 10 seconds and it's all there and now I'm plugging in a USB mouse the only annoying thing about all of this is you cannot plug in two bits of storage at the same time say this hard drive and a USB stick for some reason it only recognizes the first one you plug in so so maybe that would get fixed software update I really don't know at this point so if you're getting this thing you'll probably want to know about productivity because you've got a keyboard
Starting point is 00:03:16 dock which pretty much makes it a netbooks right so let's have a look so going through some PDF slides here you can see it's pretty smooth and pinching to zoom and scrolling across some the basic things but a really cool thing that um the hulu original series Furious is coming to Disney Plus starring Emmy Rossum Furious follows FBI agent Alice Black on the hunt for a mysterious and calculating serial camera. killer. Both walk their own paths toward justice, and as their lives start to intertwine, the line between right and wrong begins to blur. Don't miss the three-episode premiere of the Hulu original series Furious on July 27th, only on Hulu on Disney Plus.

AISIS has actually added in natively here is some annotation support. So you can actually annotate on your PDF just like that.
Starting point is 00:04:39 and it actually stays there once you save it so you can go back to the slide and it's still there and zoom in and whatever you've done and it's fairly good but yeah it's just a really handy thing that Aces have surprisingly chucked in there and another thing is actually a kind of dictionary that you can pull up whenever you hold on a specific word and I was quite shocked that that was just randomly put in there with no real explanation but that was really cool. Looking at PowerPoint, if you had a PowerPoint slide you wanted to output it to HDMI, I guess this would make sense.
Starting point is 00:05:22 But you can play your slides and have all the, well not all of them, but like some random little transitions. Really it's not, I don't know, it's just pretty corny but still, it's cool to have just doing flips and shit and also you can actually um... highlight and once again yeah as you know an ice cream sandwich you can get rid of different tasks by sliding them away this is kind of a word program called Kingsoft Office it's pretty interesting it's kind of just like a Microsoft Office but for Android and it's pretty good you can just send your stuff
Starting point is 00:06:07 straight natively from the program okay this is a point to take in here this This is loading up Word. All the loading times that you saw before were unedited, although scrolling through was sped up a little bit. So you can just see how long it takes to load up Word on an X86 processor, which is the normal Windows native processor, versus the lighter operating system and arm processor on Android. So that's quite an advantage, really. It takes less than a second on Android, but there you saw it took like 15. So it's pretty interesting there. If you're into your books. Might want to check out Google Books. This came stock with the Prime. It's actually a pretty cool interface really. Well it just kind of looks cool to look at really, but
Starting point is 00:06:54 yeah, I don't know how much I'd use it, but I guess if there's a lot of textbooks and stuff, you would too. So Wi-Fi. This is a big concern for a lot of people, so let's get straight into this one. Got my Galaxy Note here. Load up the same app, Wi-Fi Analyzer. And here you can see this is near the closest point to the router. So they're both pretty much exactly the same, but my galaxy and I just picked up two other random Wi-Fi spots. So I walked around the house and went to the furthest point in the corner away from the router. And you can see the Wi-Fi is dropping.
Starting point is 00:07:27 And there we have my prime on the... Twizzlers keep the fun going. Yeah, I know. I just stopped whatever you were listening to to tell you that Twizzlers keep the fun going. Well, irony isn't my forte, but twisty, chewy, yummy Twizzlers sure is. So think of Twizzlers as a little palette cleanser for whatever's queued up, which, by the way, should be coming very soon. Like any second now.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Okay, Twizzlers, time to keep the fun going. Before the next track starts, have you ever wondered, who are the people in my old family photos? Starting point is 00:08:32 but more or less, they're kind of the same. So no problems there. Switching to something called GPU acceleration. probably one of the most important things for Android here. You often hear people complaining about Android being laggy and slow and having a tiniest reputation and people saying, well I like the iPhone because it's so smooth. Well here that's going to change all that. So here's a scrolling page without GPU acceleration, kind of choppy,
Starting point is 00:09:00 unresponsive and typical Androidishness, well kind of anyway. And then you go back and you can actually enable the GPU accelerations. acceleration so force hardware GPU rendering on 2d graphics so going back to that menu now it's wispy smooth the smoothers will ever be pretty much so you know it's just something really cool to have but there's almost no downsides to it except for some apps that don't really like it and kind of screw up but they've only found one and that was KingSoft office but the rest are all right moving on to music this is an app called Uber Player and I'm
Starting point is 00:09:40 Just a note here, I really like the fast forward back and pause keys on the note, I mean sorry, on the transformer because any screen you're on, any app you're in, you can always change your track and everything. So that's pretty cool. Moving on to video playback. Instant resume is very fast. Right up to, it remembers where you stop, no matter what you do, you can reboot whatever and it will stay the same, so that's pretty cool. Skipping is instant, as you can see there, no problem. doing that. I'll do a full review on video stuff later but we're browsing
Starting point is 00:10:17 now. Here we have the Transformer Prime versus an iPad 2. That's a replacement keyboard by the way which is very good AI type keyboard so you might want to look into that. So yeah prime on the top and iPad on the bottom. Load up with the page N gadget because that's kind of a picture heavy sight and We'll see how they stack up there. But just a note though actually, the Prime has quite a few options for text selection, so you can select all, copy, search, share and find throughout the page. But the iPad slowly just has copy. So, yeah, moving on, scrolling through pages, as you can see, there's not much between them, folks.
Starting point is 00:11:05 Just kind of negligible, so both very smooth there. But for some reason the Transformer has a yellowish tint to the screen, but I think that can be fixed with software because that's just kind of a temperature setting. My Galaxy Note has something like that where you can change how the screen looks whether you want it hot or cold, so blue as tinge or yellowish tinge. Something cool to note was that the Transformer had all those apps going nuts in the background, where the iPad only had one. Well, I guess they're pretty much all suspended anyway, so it hardly matters. But onto YouTube, the YouTube app looks a lot better, I guess, on the Transformer, but the iPad is bare bones and pretty much simple. Pretty much load up at the same time, you know, not much difference there. But as for video playback quality, I'd say the Transformer obviously would look better because of its wider aspect ratio and also its larger resolution.
Starting point is 00:12:00 Just that's naturally what would happen. So the wrap up, the conclusion, what to think of all of this? Well, I'd say if you're tossing up between getting a Transformer Prime and an iPad, I'd say the Transformer is purely a better device, but, you know, all these quality control issues, it makes it hard for me to recommend it to you, and that's very, very sad because this is by far the best tablet and device out there. But, you know, I'd say still go for it, and just hopefully you get a good one. But I'm not done yet, there will be another video released about media, gaming, and
Starting point is 00:12:36 and all that kind of good stuff. So stay tuned, guys, and thanks for watching. If you want a $3,000 a month payday for life, what would you feel free to do?
