The moment was 1995, the year our online lives took shape. It was a year for breaking all the rules, because there weren't any rules yet. In 1995, a flood of content led to the creation of search engines. I actually even have a book that I used to write down websites in. And new levels of design. There weren't any rules. There weren't any conventions about what a homepage should be or what it should look like. Public and private forces merged as the internet rapidly evolved.

There was that tension from the start. There was a point they even thought about just getting rid of the ARPANET. And there's so much more.
