What's up, everybody.
Welcome back to a couple things.
With Sean and Andrew.
This is the special forces series edition.
Episode 2 recap.
We were not planning on doing weekly recaps of every episode.
We were going to do like a couple times over the season.
Sean was.
But y'all have been loving it.
I love talking about it.
The people love it.
I love talking about it.
I wonder why that is.
But we're going to keep doing more of it until you tell us not to.
I think episode two was one of the best episodes in the show.
shows history.
Really?
Period.
Why do you say that?
It was dramatic, bro.
It was dramatic.
And it was dramatic on TV, but it was like a hundred times worse in person.
I thought you were going to say it was one of the episodes that didn't show all that happened in real life.
Well, yeah.
I don't think there's any way any episode is going to be able to show everything that happened
because every day we were going for 24 hours.
Like,
They can't show 24 hours in an hour period of time.
It just, compared to, like, the first episode,
I feel like with the helicopter, the relay race,
a night workout, there actually wasn't that much crazy stuff that happened.
Yeah.
The second episode, I feel like in real life,
there's so much to happen that they had to compress down,
and then you're also trying to tell the storylines
and, like, the character development of the cast.
And so they just had to cut a lot out, is what I feel like.
Okay, so let's take it back.
Episode two, what you didn't see,
we'll walk you through it,
to the morning of episode two, the morning of day two.
So that was the night we got the least amount of sleep.
Well, yes.
So I was thinking about this.
On the first episode, they say we did a workout at like 11.30 at night.
No, it was like one.
I know.
I think they did that because of like restrictions with the camera crew or something like that.
Oh, yeah.
So we ended up in, because I was taking a handwritten journals the whole time just with the schedule of what we did and then who got out and why and whatever.
No, it was like 1 a.m.
I had it at 12.38 to like 115.
And then we woke up at 5.45 the next day.
And thus began our grand adventures.
I will say the only thing reflecting on that was kind of a blessing is even if we only slept like an hour, we would still, the way you wake up is they turn all the lights on.
Not the DS don't like walk in and turn the lights on, but like they just turn the lights on.
And it means, yeah, remote activated.
It means the day is starting.
So, like, bright lights turn on.
Everybody wakes up.
You immediately put your clothes on and, like, you get ready.
Because you could hear someone yell, recruit at any moment.
So you want to be ready.
Like, you're kind of really hasting through the morning.
Like, you're acting quickly.
And I will say, just like little details here and there.
So they issued us the uniforms that we're wearing.
And you take them off at night.
you try to wash them and hang them on like a drying rack outside.
And by the way, when she says wash, we literally had one metal sink.
It was like a trough sink with a couple different outlets on it.
It was like a pump activated faucet.
Yeah.
And there was hand soap and I think that was it.
Yeah.
So we used hand soap for the dishes and for our clothes.
So ultimately you were just trying to get it to be less muddy clothes because by the end of the day you're just drenched in mud and soaked in dirt.
I actually got a lot of questions of people asking
were guys allowed to bring different things
than girls or vice versa?
No. So I got to bring
two pairs of underwear
and two bras. Guys got
to bring two pairs of underwear.
And so for us,
it's like every night you're like washing a pair of underwear
and hanging them to dry
and putting the other ones on.
At night, for the most part,
all the girls slept in like
bras and underwear pretty much.
And you had a sleeping bag
so it's not like you were just out
the open no and guys slept in like shorts and then we'd wake up put all of our stuff on someone would
come out one of the DS and yell like breakfast is ready we'd go into breakfast again you're not like
roaming around the the grounds on your own ever you're not allowed to you can only go from one place
to another when told so we'd go into the like little dining area that's when we would have our
powdered coffee which really wasn't bad like at least we had coffee um hard-boiled eggs
really, really dry bread, but it was bread.
Strawberry jam, oatmeal.
And on day two, I was still not fully recovered from day one.
No, I was still hurting.
And I was just crushing electrolytes.
They did end up having electrolyte tablets.
I probably had 15 tablets.
Yeah.
I was like hammering them.
But I have us waking up at 5.45 on my schedule.
And then at 7 a.m. we drove about now.
Do you remember what happened before this?
because they didn't show it on the show on the episode.
Go ahead.
So this is the day that we go to the dam and we race up it.
So around 7 a.m., they call us out to the square,
and they line us up, and Billy walks around,
and he gives us this long speech of,
you need to take a hard look at, like, everyone here,
and you have to be smart about choosing your partners.
That was not this episode.
Yes, it was.
Oh, wait, wait, wait.
yes it was no no this is no this was us picking teams this was not yes oh that's what you're
talking about okay sorry bro i apologize i apologize and i just remember him hearing you need to put
relationships aside uh-huh and make sure you make a smart decision and all i remember thinking
is obviously i'm going to pick my husband or like that's who i feel you know i is my right or die
but I kept thinking
are they wanting us to pick other people
and if we pick each other
are they going to use it against us?
Because I kept thinking are they going to make us
carry someone up the mountain
like up a mountain or like carry each other
because we're at a disadvantage.
Jesse and Eric were at a disadvantage
and Gia and Teresa were at a disadvantage
like size height and ability wise.
Because in previous episodes they've done a pairing
and two big dudes have paired together
and it's not been good
because maybe it's an endurance event they have.
or mismatch size people have paired together
and it's not good
because they make the smaller one
to carry the bigger one
and then you're just screwed
and also Sean and I were worried
about the marriage dynamics still
about where they're going to try to tinker with
or like
try to undermine our marriage
or our camaraderie that we have
so we were always constantly
on alert for that
so he's setting up this whole thing
he hasn't really called anyone out yet
and he's like making it a point
and I was like oh gosh
what's going to happen
and so he goes back up to the
front and he's like I'm going to call a number you race to the front and then you you have to
call out a number for your partner yeah and who does he call first me and it's crazy that they didn't
show this maybe because had I not chosen you I think they would have shown it because it'd have been
more dramatic but I raised to the front and he's like who you're going to choose make sure you choose
like a smart choice and all I kept thinking is like the only person I want to choose is my husband
like you are my right or die
so I called you
and then
it was like Jesse came next
and she called Eric
and then you know
nobody was really left
Christy was left solo
yeah
oh yeah she was left solo
which sucked
because she's such an amazing partner
if I didn't choose you
I probably would have chosen her
and same with you
but it was such an interesting position
to be in because it's like
how are they going to use this against us
okay so then we load up in the cars
no no no I do want to say
so if I five
45 wake up we got in the car at 7
and there's a lot to do in the hour 15 you have to
eat you have to do your dishes so you had to like
clean your utensils after you used them
pack your bags there's like a shower line there's only one shower
and it was there's no water pressure so it's kind of hard to
clean yourself and when you put soap on it takes a long time to get it off
and you have to use the bathroom you have to clean your clothes
you better hope that your window comes to go to the bathroom
oh no joke because if you
Sorry to say, if you don't poop before you leave, you're left having to poop on the side of a mountain with no toilet paper in front of everybody.
Or feeling like you have to poop for whatever challenge you're about to get thrown into and you don't know what that is.
So anyway, it's just like very jam-packed.
And this leads to not being a lot of downtime.
You know, like you have an hour 15 to do all that stuff.
And maybe they're calling you in for an interview.
Maybe they're, I think the medic would usually kind of come at this window.
If you needed to see the medic.
also win on day two so on day one we had been stuck on the mountain like for so long we've
been running hiking we probably put in we put in quite a few miles that day yeah but we didn't
we couldn't use any of our trackers so i know which is such a bummer yeah but i will say after day
one probably 80% of us had horrific blisters yes i lost skin on the entire back of my foot on both
sides on my toes everything again we're wearing these boots our socks are wet it was like
awful so within this hour we're all trying to like prep our feet and get them taped and get our
hands taped and like it was you have to you have to clean up your bed area you have to repack
your backpack you have to repack your shoe locker so like you had some night stuff to wear
maybe it's like a wife beater or like shorts then you had to clean up the tent you had to fill up
your water bottle to the very top they had all these standards that you had to do and oh and then
you had to add sand to your backpack so it had to be 35 pounds exactly okay anyway they weighed it
and so you'd always be double checking like oh I took some clothes out so I got to go out to the
courtyard and reweigh it so there's just a lot to do anyway you get in the car and the car for me was
always a place like I was so happy to be in the car every time we were in it meant we weren't doing
anything.
Yes.
Parents, if you've ever tried to get your kids to eat healthier, you know it can feel like
a losing battle.
Yeah, between picky eaters, funky tasting vitamins, and supplements that are missing
something important, it's tough.
That's exactly why we created Beam Kids.
It has been almost six months now since Andrew and I launched our favorite project to date,
Beam Kids All in One Superfood Powder for Kit.
And get this, since we have launched, babe, but more than 40,000 parents have trusted Beam
kids with providing tasty nutrition to their kids. That still blows my mind.
If you're new here, Beam Kids is one scoop a day of 40 plus essential ingredients. Things like
greens, probiotics, prebiotics, fruits, and vitamins, all to fuel healthy growth. And it comes
in two amazing flavors our kids are obsessed with. Chocolate milk and chocolate chip cookie.
And more flavors coming. So stay tuned. And this isn't just us saying that the kids like it. They
literally perfected the flavor themselves.
They were in the lab with us and they were the ultimate taste testers, to be honest.
And of course, the ingredients are super clean.
That was a non-negotiable for us.
So whether you want to strengthen your kid's immune system to combat back to school germs
or just give them extra vitamins that tastes like dessert, you've got to check out Beam Kids.
Head to shopbeam.com forward slash couple things and use code couple things to get up to 40% off
while supplies loss.
That's shop, B-E-A-M dot com slash couple things.
and don't forget to use code couple things
for up to 40% off.
Trust us, your kids will love it
and you'll feel better knowing
they're getting everything they need.
People will get so anxious and psyched out in the car.
They're like, what do you think we're going to do?
And I'm just like, nap.
Just close your eyes and fall asleep.
And someone asked Sean when we were watching.
They were like, why are you always sitting with so-and-so?
And it was like, well, the way it would work
is you be in the parade square
and then they'd say, load up in the cars,
then everyone would sprint out
and then you go to the first car that's available.
There's no like waiting around for,
oh, let me wait for Andrew
or let me wait for Sean.
It was like jump in the car.
And so you're kind of paired with who's running in similar speed as you are.
And the first couple days when there were still a ton of people on the show, the cars were packed.
So you'd have four or five people, maybe up to six.
And they were small cars.
Small cars.
They're like a little Toyota Highlander or something like that.
And anyway, so you load up and then there's all this anticipation for what are we about to do.
And you didn't know if the drive was going to be five minutes or like three hours.
Yeah, we had a couple really long drives, which were so nice.
agonizing on the way in because like literally again there's no talking there's no discussion
with the driver or the producer who's up in the front seat as well and so if you say hey is this
a long driver short drive nothing so you're just like waiting for a turn on to a small road or
whatever but you knew that if it was a long drive going in obviously it's going to be long drive
coming back so it's like there's something nice about knowing that the day was getting eaten
up by the car ride so we drive probably an hour yeah that that that drive that second
morning was about an hour and we roll up into this valley and you see this dam and you're like
oh shoot by the way the whole time you still have no idea what you're going to do the whole time
you're looking for anything on the horizon on the landscape you're like are we about to do skydive
we're about to do repelling and you're like looking for features that aren't natural to the environment
i will say though for your guys's visuals when we pulled up we pulled up on the back side of the
dam so we couldn't see the crane the airplane or the water we just saw a a massive dam and
you couldn't even tell that there was water on the other side.
It just looked like a huge stone wall.
And by the way,
every time you're loading up and unloading a car,
it's sprint.
So it's like,
as soon as the car stops,
you hear somebody yelling is usually Rudy.
And he'd be like,
truth's on me.
So you're just like hecticly grabbing your backpack out of the back.
If your bags,
if you were in first in the car,
it was so stressful because you had to wait the whole time for your bag to get,
do you remember that feeling?
To get unloaded.
And then all of a sudden you're like behind
and you're freaking sprint.
and then you don't know how long the sprint's going to be.
It might be a mile.
It might be a short run.
So anyway, then you'd all get in ranks.
Wait, whoa, it was ranks and files.
So ranks was like hamburger style.
Files was hot dog style, if that makes sense.
And then you'd kind of get briefed.
And so on this one, we showed up on the dam and we were like, I don't know what's about to happen.
Yeah.
You couldn't tell.
You could not tell because usually you could tell if there was like,
gear loaded up there wasn't any safety gear it was just kind of like what are we about to do and then
they yell like line up in file so like um one person in front of the other but in your teams
like your pairs and you're like okay what's what's about to happen and then they just say it's a race
to the top yeah and you have heavy bergens on is what they call them i miss called i misnamed them
several times got yelled that so then it's like Sean and I are sprinting and
And there's only one set of stairs to the top of this dam.
So, again, if you start in the back, it's hard to pass and make moves to the front because
they're just not a lot of horizontal space.
They didn't show that in the way that it felt.
It looked like we were just walking up to the top.
But they were like screaming at us to like sprint up those stairs.
And there were so many stairs.
Andrew, you even said the other night watching, you're like, it wasn't that bad.
And it was like, it was awful.
But full transparency for those curious who are like, you know, athletes or crossfitters or whatever, this part for me was not difficult. The stairs, I don't even know if I really broke a sweat. I was still in pain from the relay race before, which was extremely difficult. But these stairs were not hard because I'm a bigger guy and I came in physically trained. But for you, it was a lot harder because I had to carry the same exact weight as you on everything. And those Bergens, they fit you.
you the way that they should.
Like you had the waist support, you had everything.
Yeah.
The back of that Bergen bag had like a steel plate to keep the Bergen up right.
Oh, dude.
And so by the time I had my Bergen high enough to be able to utilize the waist
strap, the steel plate went above my head.
So I could never look up.
So I was always hunched over.
And again, carrying the same exact weight as you and Randall Cobb and Eric Decker.
Yeah.
and hiking stairs that were, you know, a small step for you, a big step for me.
It was really, really freaking hard for me.
If there was anything difficult about this one for me, it was the fact that, again, there's
no warm up.
And so you're just going into this cold and your body just kind of goes into a weird metabolic shock you.
If you ever heard of Fran lung, it's when like your esophagus gets dry because your respiratory
rates too high.
And so like that hits you real quick.
It's like pain in your lungs.
Yeah.
So anyway, we get to the top.
There's people who are struggling way worse.
and we were so we had
it wasn't a long rest at the top
but we had to wait for them
and I think a couple people
almost tapped out because of the stairs
I mean Johnny was still in tough shape
Teresa Teresa was in tough shape
and Chanel
yeah and the bag was heavy
so to their credit that was not an easy challenge
but then you get to the top
and that's when we saw the plane
yeah and you're like now what okay
so then you see the plane and you still
you just don't really know what's going to happen
are they going to spin it around or what
so they kind of had us go down
to the bottom of the other side of the dam.
That's where you see on TV how we're looking up
and we're seeing like how everything plays out.
And then show us the demo.
And this was our first time where we saw what the process was
when it was like only a couple people could do the challenge
and the rest of us would wait.
And so this part I have marked down.
It took us about five hours from 9 to 1.30.
We'd have lunch there.
They had like sandwiches for it.
Is that right?
No, no, no, no.
They would not feed us while we were on site.
We only ate in the cars.
So we went five and a half hours.
We did have water on site, which was great.
But they called us down there.
They kind of debriefed us.
They gave us a run through.
So I think Rudy or Billy did the challenge of, you know,
the airplane gets submerged into the water.
They walked us through what the process was.
So they didn't really show us on TV,
but the airplane gets submerged.
And then you hold your breath.
Yeah.
And after, I think it was like 25, 30 seconds.
one of the DS comes and squeezes the person on the left shoulders
who then has to touch the person on the right
that person on the right had to get out first
then followed by the other person
and then you had to find the door so you're holding your breath
there was one door one on the left
door two at the very back on the left
and then the back of the plane was open but you had to
you were only allowed to go out the back left door
and then swim to the top say
you put a thumbs up you call out your number and you say like like my number was 10 you say 10 okay
so again they give us a walk through and I was like this is not going to be hard I can hold my breath
legitimately for like two and a half minutes you're insane with how you hold your breath this was
something I also tested going into it this is something I was nervous about I am not a strong breath holder
I can hold my breath about a minute but a minute is like yeah full panic mode and that's about how
how long you needed to hold it here.
But what was interesting is this was, again, the first time we got to see really
potently other people's fears.
And so there were multiple people like just in tatters thinking about doing this challenge.
People who were terrified of the thought of like, even if it's an airplane simulation,
they didn't like that.
People who were terrified of water.
People who are definitely terrified of being strapped to anything underwater.
So it was like kind of interesting conversations as you're down there.
And this is where the camaraderie builds, where you're comforting other people like,
no, you're going to, you got this, you're going to do great.
It's all right.
Don't make it.
Just follow the steps and you'll be okay, you know.
I will say something that I found really interesting, and they did this on all of the different challenges.
They do a really good job simulating and making you feel like you are alone in your challenge.
Does that make sense?
Yeah.
So like in the plane, there was a rescue scuba diver.
Rudy was under there as well with a full scuba tank.
There was a full scuba rescue team.
and there was a medic and everything like all in the water but the way that they have it set up is like when you're being submerged and stuff you cannot see a single person you don't see Rudy you don't see the scuba rescue team you don't like you feel like you are alone which really like heightens the stakes and after you get lowered I remember as we are watching other people go people are trying to figure out like how long is it how long does it take to get out how long does it take for the second person to get out
seeing them have to get out, call their numbers, and then swim to the boat.
We've never swam with full combat gear on before.
I mean, you have heavy boots on, you know?
And it was just an interesting experience of like start to, start to finish of if you can't control your fear, you could tell, like, the second someone started to panic was done.
It was completely done.
Yeah.
So let me tell you, Sean and I's experience.
We're sitting there watching.
We probably went towards a ladder.
half of the group so six yeah of what nine yeah yeah yeah so you're watching other people
do it you're having all these conversations you're trying to encourage and uh just like pump everybody up
and then you hear your number get called you sprint up there you stand in position fox it gives you
the debrief he tells you to walk up this walk up the dam so it's a long walk i remember getting
to the top of the dam with my heart rate spiked though and i was like you better chill this
freaking out to yourself to my yes because if you try to hold your breath while your heart rate is
like high yes it's awful so i was add nerves on top of that drowning is my worst fear so like
i was really trying not to think about like you're not going to panic we're not going to feel scared
like i was trying to like compartmentalize that and shut that off but mixing the adrenaline rush with
the spiked heart rate from climbing up the dam again yeah i was like i have to get my heart rate
lowered so yeah and then the other thing going on too is you have the cameras and there's a long walk
to get to the middle of the dam where the airplane was where you load it up and like you know you're
you got cameras there and so you're also trying to give them something to film and so we're talking
probably more than we otherwise would have if I had to guess yeah I'm not a talker when I get nervous
neither one I go silent but we're like you know trying to talk and then you're people people said oh
holding your breath for like 50 55
seconds is not that hard, but to Sean's point, the context is really unique where your heart rate
is really high. There's all these protocols and the system of what needs to happen is going
through your mind so you're a little distracted and it's not just like you're sitting at your pool
at home. Well, and it all happens so quickly to where, like you said, it's not in like a very,
it is a controlled environment, but it's not because it's made to make you scared and make you
nervous. So when you're on top of the dam, you get in the plane, you get in the plane, you get
strapped into a five-point harness.
Billy, by the way, is who did this,
and he was hilarious.
He was cracking jokes.
I was dying, almost crying, laughing.
Billy's hysterical.
He would be playing jokes on you the whole time,
especially since Ander and I, like,
can hide our nerves.
Yeah.
A lot better than some other people,
just because that's also like our career.
Sean was a Olympic gymnast, by the way,
which means you're on a four-inch beam
and you can't be trembling, shaking,
and you can't be freaking out.
So I can compartmentalize that.
And I was a long snapper.
So like game winning field goals, you can't let it physically overcome you.
So my technique, it sounds like yours too, is just like you just shut it off for a second.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And you internalize it all just to deal with at a later date.
It's almost like, yeah, it's almost like you're like, I'm going to set this here for a second.
It's going to come get me.
I know this, but it just can't come get me right now.
Yeah.
But because we could hide that, it's almost like the DS –
unlocked a different level of themselves with you and I
because they wanted to make us nervous.
Yeah, they were poking around trying to see what reaction.
So we would like get in the five point harness and
Billy would make a joke be like,
you better figure out how to make,
like how to get that undone because if you panic when you're on,
like it was all these things of trying to individually
tailor each person's experience the same but in different ways.
And Billy and all of them are really great at if someone
was very apparently nervous he would he would calm down and you don't really see that side
this is a short window of interaction by the way it's like 60 seconds maybe that we're talking
with billy and he's making jokes so it's it's not like you're ra ra and you know singing kumbaya
but he did a good job at calming people when all you see on tv is like them yelling and that's just
part of the whole interaction i remember billy's interaction with us which was like literally
my cup of tea. Like that is how I trained and how my coach taught me. So like, I just remember
thinking, I feeling so comforted. After he got us strapped in and like we figured it out,
he was giving me such a hard time, by the way, because it took me like four times to get the
five point harness on. Oh, too. And he was just cussing like a sailor. And he's like,
what's the? Can you not even? Oh, just let me do it. And whatever. Okay. Can I just say
something? Yes. I used to think that bras and underwear didn't really matter.
Like, if my outfit looked good on the outside, I figured that's all that counted.
And then skims entered the chat.
Seriously, though, you guys, skims has totally changed how I feel about getting dressed.
The first thing you put on in the morning sets the tone for your whole day.
And when I'm in skims, I just feel put together, confident, and most importantly, comfortable.
And you look dang good in them, too, babe.
And let's be honest, this all makes my life easier as well.
You know what they say, happy wife, happy life.
Exactly. My favorite right now is the fits everybody crossover braulette. Postpartum, I became so picky about my intimates. Most brawlets either gave no support at all or they were so tight they felt like a sports bra. But this one, it's supportive and comfortable. I wear it literally every single day.
And you've got me converted too. You're always like, feel this fabric. And I promise, you've watched these things a hundred times and they still look brand new.
Yes. That's also why I love the fits everybody boy shorts. One of my biggest pet peeve,
is when underwear stretches out or loses shape, and these just don't.
They stay perfect all day long.
Honestly, it's kind of wild.
I didn't think that underwear could be life-changing, but here we are.
Here we are.
So, if you want to upgrade your everyday basics, trust me, you need to try skims.
Shop our favorite bras and underwear at skims.com.
And after you place your order, make sure to let them know we sent you.
Just select podcast in the survey and then choose couple things from the drop down.
Again, that's skims.com slash couple things.
Put skims on and you'll feel the difference immediately.
So then, go ahead.
Sorry, sorry.
I remember him giving us a six point, six words.
He's like, these are your six things to do.
And he gave it, I don't remember what the six words were, but each word was for like a different step of the process.
Yeah.
And he gave us six words and he said, I want you to repeat them from now until it's over.
Just repeat them.
Say it out loud.
Keep saying it out loud.
Keep saying it out loud.
And I remember that's what we did.
Yeah.
And that is, that's literally how Chow used to coach me.
We did have that brief moment where we went off script and we were talking about the water.
So we, another thing is we don't know how cold the water is.
And if it's super cold water, you know, that makes your body react totally differently.
On top of, we were probably strapped into the plane for five minutes.
I mean, it takes a long time for the crane to drop it however many hundred feet.
Yeah.
And I was surprised at how difficult not being in control of my descent was for me to
time my breath and then because when you're when you're at home yeah go ahead and i had to hold my breath
longer than you you because i was short yeah yeah so like my head is fully under before your chin even
goes in and it was legitimately probably five extra seconds um but i'm not good at holding my breath
and i was also in the seat that had to go last yeah and when you're testing breath holds at home
you know you could dip your head under when when you have the full lung of breath here you're
kind of trying to time it up and I did not time it up well I didn't time it up so your heart rates high
the water's cold this a whole you're trying to remember the sequence trying to time up this
the the breath and and then also the mic for me it's like the necklace thing and it's
getting caught up in there so that's like another distraction you have to keep your hands on your
knees so it's part of the rule so we go under and uh probably within the first five seconds
I was like, I don't know if I have enough breath.
I was freaking out.
Really?
Yes.
I didn't know this.
We kept it cool and calm.
Sean was in the left seat, so she was going to get touched first by the DS.
But that means I swam out last.
Yeah.
Which sucked.
Anyway, we did the thing.
As soon as I, I was nervous about the harness because it's a five-point seatbelt.
And so you could get it caught pretty easy if you're not diligent with the unwinding.
So I was sure to be slow with that.
But then as soon as I started swimming, I was like, oh, dude, this feels, you have your pants on, long sleeve shirt, and boots.
Anyway, I was also, I peaked at where the door was, which is kind of hard with how we walked up.
And so I was just like trying to remember however many windows there was door.
And so we did that.
You were right behind me.
I followed you.
I was just following your boots.
We swam to the top.
And I like was out of breath at this point.
So you're kicking, kicking.
It's like the seed from Little Mermaid where you're just looking for the life.
And then all of a sudden you're like, all right, I think I got it.
You can start exhaling.
And then at the top of the water, when you make it, you're supposed to give a thumbs up and say 11 okay and 10 okay.
But you were 12.
No, I was 10.
I was after you.
And then you get to the boat.
Wait, swimming from the top of the water to the boat.
That was the hardest part.
So this is a silly anecdote that I don't need to share.
But I was trying to figure out strategies when we were watching other teams go.
as to how because we had a watch but you couldn't use your watch underwater so like you weren't
going to be able to sit there and look at the time and I remember trying to think to myself how what can
I recite in my head that gives me an idea of the time and we say the Lord's prayer with our kids every night
before we go to bed and so I started saying that watching other teams go and knew that if I said that
slow enough that I would be tapped before it was over and so that's what I did as soon as I took
my breath, I just slowly started saying the Lord's Prayer.
And I remember, like, halfway through it, he tapped me.
And I was like, oh, it was a lot quicker than I thought.
That's what you were doing?
In my mind, I was like, oh, freak, I think I'm on a breath.
Oh, freak, this mic is so annoying.
Oh, shoot.
Because if I start thinking that, I freak out.
So I was like, our father, who are in heaven.
Whatever.
So then got the five point off, followed Andrew's boots, went out, gave the thumbs up.
I had taken in a little bit of water.
So you're just looking at my feet as you're something out?
I had taken a little in a little bit of water when I took my breath, which sucked,
but like it didn't make it unbearable for me, got to the top, and then trying to swim
from there to the boat, I was like, I can't do this.
I don't know how people do it.
And then they're screaming at you.
They're like, swim faster.
Well, I swam to the boat.
I'm a pretty good swimmer, not to brag, but in first grade, I got a bunch of first place
for events.
In first grade, yeah.
That's pretty good.
So I got to the boat, and then I see Sean.
way behind me so
went back
I got you
and I shoved you
a portion of my body weight
and then you had a hard time
getting in the boat too
you had to get yourself
into the boat
and I was like
I can't even reach
the top of the boat
again the size difference
was just wild
and it is worth noting
and we'll talk about
a couple instances
here in a second
but it was not
like you
it was game over
when you got to the surface
so when Eva had her instance
totally understandable
that
she's still in a like a stress mode you know so eva if you guys watched episode two
blacked out and did like shallow water drowning which we had been kind of told about
that you have to still keep your composure she had finished her um challenge and she had made
it which was such like a milestone for her she was so scared and so nervous so we were so proud
we're all down watching we see her come out and we're like heck yes eva did it literally everyone
Every time you'd see someone get to the service, you're like cheering.
Everybody's hoot and hollering on the side.
And Jesse had already come out as well.
So like their team to a certain extent had already, like they had completed it.
We didn't know that Jesse came out the wrong door and he had a technical fail, whatever.
But for to paint the picture, as soon as both came out, it's almost like everybody relaxed a little bit.
Yeah.
And it's like the rescue swimmers were getting ready to prep for the next one.
And it was within a split second, we were all like.
where's Eva and she went under and all I remember hearing is DSQ screaming at Rudy saying
Rudy get her and you see the rescue team go back under and grab Eva and pull her out it was the
scariest thing I got chills think about it right now so we're probably as we're watching like
a quarter mile away and so it's hard to see how things are happening you're kind of like oh
is she just behind the plane because there's a lot in the water and then there's other heads
of like the scuba eyes and everything but to to their credit they were diligent yeah and
watchful from the moment that plane touched the water until the moment the people got to the boat
because it was so easy for me to you know when you saw eva's head come up you're like oh she did
it onto the next thing let me turn around and whatever like for us we're not considering oh shoot
there still might be hazard here yeah so they were diligent and that's what that's what we mean
They were safe, but it's a super dangerous situation, yeah.
Well, and they're trying to play this game of like how much space do we give you because
we have to simulate such a hard challenge for you and push you, but also what's pushing
you a little too far and what's not enough.
So there were different teams where like, Andrew and I had to swim a lot farther to the
boat.
That was almost like part of our challenge.
It's almost like, do you remember the boat was like driving away from us?
And I was like, what the frick?
Like the boat was closer for other people.
Yeah.
So we had to swim far.
but then with Eva, that was just, it was
terrifying to see them
pull her into the boat and do a chest compression
and just like... Well, we, from our perspective,
we just see all the scuba divers converge.
Yeah.
And there's a lot of yelling.
The producers that were next to us
were quiet. Foxy
was quiet.
And what we found out later
was that Eva had experienced
shallow water drowning.
Yeah.
Which is kind of when you,
what is it called when you breathe fast?
hyperventilate, and it's like that you have too much CO2 and none of her oxygen.
Yeah.
So she, even though she was at the surface, started sinking.
And Rudy was telling us a story later.
The same thing happened to him.
Yes, but he was the safety guy.
She goes underwater.
It's a murky water and he couldn't really see her.
So he just dives down, grabs her, and you're like, you know,
there was a decent chance that you go underwater and could.
She didn't find her for too long.
No.
So anyway, then that's what you see on TV.
Her body gets drug, which we never really saw that part.
She was totally lame.
And then you get on a boat is what happens after that.
And with Q, he kind of gives you a quick debrief.
It's like a, I don't know, one-minute boat ride.
Sean and I had a fun moment there when we were on the boat.
And then you get off the boat and Foxy debriefs you, which is what you see on camera.
and that's when it was like such a somber vibe for Eva and she was getting debrief.
She's like, oh my gosh, she's in tears.
She's in shock, yeah.
And then there was a lot of off-camera stuff that wasn't shown in the episode that I'm shocked they didn't show because it was very emotional after Eva had gotten back on the land because you're like, again, this was a first realization where we're like, oh my gosh, this is real.
Like, you know, we had the moment when we did the workout on day one where you're like, oh, yeah, this is real, we're getting yelled at. And I don't want to, this is not like playtime. And then you have the moment in the helicopter where you're like, okay, this is pretty serious. Physically, the relay race was like a step up. There's kind of different moments of leveling up. Yeah, this is the first time where I think it was a huge wake up call to all of us of like, we need to pay better attention. This isn't just, we're not here to just play. Like this is.
This is dangerous, and this is scary.
So we all, like, get through that.
We ended up going through the rest of the people who needed to go, which made it even scarier for the people who hadn't gone yet.
Yeah.
Did we go before or after Eva?
Before.
Yeah.
And then so, and there's already people nervous about this challenge.
And that happens, and it just escalated the emotions.
And so people were just losing it beforehand, which it's hard to capture.
someone's full emotions on camera but off scene like i will say that was a pretty intense
five hours like from start to finish we were there to 1 30 or so so then we finished that
whole challenge we load back up into the cars we had to go up to the dam down the stairs we didn't
oh no no sorry we loaded up the cars yeah yeah that's right um drove back had lunch at base camp
So we've been up since 5.45.
We had lunch at 2.30 that day.
And then, again, we don't know, like, what's coming next.
You don't know if it's coming in five minutes or four hours or whatever.
So we have lunch.
We go back into our barracks.
By then, I think we are all just kind of, like, for the most part, if we ever went back to the barrack in between challenges, we would all just, like, lay down.
Yeah, you're trying to get out of the sun.
You're trying to get off your feet.
you're kind of also nervously pacing
or like just building anticipation
because you could hear recruits at any point.
I think they called in Eva at this point.
So the other thing is they're trying to film the show
and do all these interviews that you see
like in that room when they pull the bag off.
So I think Eva got called in between 2.30 and 4.30.
Then they had to figure out with a medic.
I think she talked to a psychiatrist.
There's a lot going on.
Obviously the show has like a lot of moving pieces.
So we had about two hours after.
lunch and before we were called into the parade square yeah so then we get called into the parade
square and they're like ushering us quickly they're like get to the parade square get into the cars we
go running to the cars this is the first time i remember thinking okay we're in another car ride
is going to be we have another hour whatever and it was literally a five-minute drive it was across the
street it was across the street so we our barracks by the way we didn't talk about this
they're kind of in like this castle on top of this hill it was a sweet setup there's like a cliff
almost like moab utah like a red rock cliff that was just in the distance you could see
beautiful stars at night but all these Moroccan buildings are kind of like mud and pebbles it's like a weird
cement mixer yeah but it was not a ruin it was not that old anyway we're on this castle
load up in the cars we're like oh we get a chill for a couple hours nope we go across the street to this
village they they unload us from the cars again we're sprinting from place to place we're running
through these like hallway tunnels of like this village and all of a sudden yeah all of a sudden
it opens up to this little like courtyard and you see it immediately it's boxing gloves and headgear
and you're like what the brick because every single season you have to fight like we we've all done our
the whole cast had kind of done their research
and we all knew we had to fight at some point
but it had never been this early
ever and we were all taken back
like what?
Yeah it's always on episode like four or five
so we're like Shirley
when we were in the cars we parked for probably a half hour
I was talking with Jesse who she did not want to box at all
and then but Jesse and I also knew even going into it
We're like, you and I are going to box each other 100%.
Okay, confession time.
I had no idea how many subscriptions we were paying for.
That's kind of terrifying, honestly, when you say that.
Let's just say it was more than either of us thought, to be honest.
I found out I was still paying for something I completely forgot about from like years ago.
And the only reason I ever caught it, Rocket Money.

And she thinks I'm a financial guru, but really I just use this app.
So thank you, Rocket Money. Check it out.
I don't know how it's back to school season already, but I am in full prep mode.
The backpacks are packed.
Our fridge is stocked with snacks like Drew's current favorite, the gogurt protein.
And Drew is so excited to be starting kindergarten.
I don't know if I am.
And I don't know about you, but I used to eat gogurt with my siblings after school,
and I have such fond memories of those times.
It's been fun to see Drew love gogert now, too, except now they have gogert protein,
which is absolutely amazing.
It has two times the amount of protein of the original gogert.
We try to sneak more protein into our kids' diets wherever we can.
Drew loves the strawberry flavor and knows exactly where I keep them in the fridge.
When she gets home, she knows she can grab one, open it up herself with their easy open packaging, and enjoy.
And our son Jet loves them too, and we appreciate the tube design that makes it a mess-free snack that you can eat on the go-the-go-gris protein on the way to ice skating or swim, and we don't mind when they eat them in the car because they really leave no mess behind.
Oh, yes, they are a car snack staple.
I'll also toss a few go-gurt protein snacks into the freezer so they last longer.
I'll pull them out whenever we need it in the morning and they're ready to eat by the afternoon, or if you just eat them frozen, they're really good.
These bad boys are frozen right now, and I can't wait to have one.
Anyway, gogurt protein is the back-to-school snack this season that your kids will love and you can feel great about.
Available in flavors like strawberry and berry, look for go-gurt protein at a retailer near you.
So you knew they were going to parry up by size because you have to for safety pretty much.
You don't want to put a monster with a little tyke.
Anyway, you go into this courtyard.
It's probably 10 yards by 10 yards.
It was sick.
It looked like a scene from gladiards.
It did.
sand floor multiple levels so the DS are up top a level above us and it's like it's quiet and then
they start giving you this debrief and you're like oh my gosh just the pregame jitters and nerves like
i feel sweaty right now talking about it we've actually had a lot of people ask like because it didn't
look like a lot of people had good technique they weren't actually like fighting well they weren't like
playing strategically and they've asked us about this so the rules of the game were
It was not wrestling.
It was fighting.
It was boxing.
They called it milling.
Yes.
And so when they called go, there was no waiting for your opponent.
You couldn't run.
You couldn't like strategically evade.
You had to be forwardly punching each other as hard as you could until they said stop.
That's part of the debrief with every challenge.
They say, hey, you know, we're about to do this airplane crash simulation.
And this is a real thing.
and this is why you need to be able to confront your fear
and keep your wits about you and yada yada.
So for boxing,
they were like,
you need to be aggressive.
Yeah.
That's what we're looking for.
So they tell you pretty much what success looks like
with each challenge.
And this one,
it was like,
be aggressive and show that you controlled aggression.
You had to be attacking the whole time.
Which the one boxing lesson you and I took,
my strategy was like,
get low and evade.
And so when they're like,
you should be forwardly like,
punching. I'm like, well, I'm screwed.
This is awful. So, one by
one, they start calling doubles.
You were first? No.
No, I was like fourth. Okay.
So they started calling doubles.
And it's,
it's like being,
I mean, pun intended, punched in the face
the first time we watched this happen because you're like,
oh, frick, this is real.
So I think Mark and Cody went first.
And Cody got, I mean, Mark was hitting
really hard at the head and Cody went down a couple
times you're like oh dude they also made mark and cody go the longest out of everybody i think they
did three or four rounds yes it's brutal and you're like okay i could seriously get injured here i was
worried about tapping out because of not being physically prepared or being scared or something but it's
like no i can get injured here if my nose breaks and they need to take me to the hospital i'm gone
then you're gone like you got a vw you're automatically removed from the show if you we've previous
episodes people had cracked ribs from boxing from boxing and they had to be
Yes, a lot of people have gotten injured on this historically.
So I was like, I would say for the most part, majority people go out because of the boxing.
Yeah, and that's what we were just like, don't go out from an injury from boxing.
Dude.
So anyway, this is also where I think, I think Teresa was called up to fight first or like really early on.
It showed that she, in the episode it looked like she went last.
She was actually one of the very first people to get called
And she tapped out
She was like I can't watch my daughter fight
This is like not something I can do
And so she VWed
That sent Gia
Like super emotional
That was very hard for her
She said she felt secure with her mom there
And this was like a huge thing
And it happened right at the beginning
Which was really hard
And we're only 24 hours
I mean 36 hours into the show
So like yeah it was fresh
And then Eva shortly after
called for um psych and then so they took teresa in a side room and then they took eve on the
side room and then we never saw her again nope that was it so now we got two people down from boxing
you're looking at other people who hadn't even fought too which was crazy yeah yeah um but i'll never
forget this is my i've never gotten in a fight obviously i played football so like i know how to
tackle somebody but that's totally different than like the footwork and the strategy and up into this
point we aren't a hundred percent sure again jesse decker
and I are 100% sure
we are going to be fighting each other.
Same size, same storyline.
It makes sense for TV, everything.
But we aren't sure with you
because you have Randall Cobb,
you have Johnny Mansell,
you have Mark Estes,
you have Eric Decker,
like all similar-sized guys.
Dude, yeah, so they start pairing these people up
and I'm like, all right,
you have Nick Young, who's like six, seven.
I don't want to fight that guy
because one thing I do know about fighting
is arm span matters
and he would just punch me.
Randall Cobb was a dog,
the whole time, didn't really want to get in a scuffle with him.
Johnny Manzell, I'm like, this guy is my hero.
Yeah.
I grew up idolizing this guy, like golden moment of my college careers when he told me
out a good game after we beat, after we lost to him and his team 55 to 3 at Texas A&M.
And you're like, I don't want to fight my idol.
And then I have Eric Decker, who's my friend.
And you're like, I don't want to fight my friend.
Anyway, they call me up there.
Oh, I feel it now.
Honestly, I loved it.
And I didn't expect this.
I thought I was going to dread the, the Jedders.
They called 11 and they called, what was his number 7?
And so we get up there and Q starts putting on your gloves.
He puts on your head gear and he's kind of giving you like a pregame speech.
So what something that they don't really show is they send, they call two numbers and they send you off.
One went to Rudy, one went to Q.
They get you all like your head gear on and your mouth garden and your gloves on.
And they kind of give you literally like a 20 second coaching session.
They're like, have you fought before?
Yeah.
Do you know how to fight?
No.
So, well, just start swinging.
Don't stop.
Yeah.
It's wild.
And I just felt like these nerves that I, with football, I'd invested so much into that.
And I didn't want to mess up or perform badly because I felt like I had just decades of experience on the line and my career.
With this, it was like same nerves intensity, but I had nothing on the line.
Well, and it's weird to show up to like a start line or a competition.
line and be like, I don't know what the
frick I'm doing. Like I don't
do I, which hand do I punch with?
Like it was. Oh, dude.
And in my mind, like, this is just, I
roll in everything pretty much with
overconfidence and then I get quickly humbled
and I'm good with both. But in my
mind, I was like, I might be terrible
at this and that's fine. Or I might
be legendary. Like, what if I'm
an epic, just dope
boxer? So you and Eric go head
to head. You're literally like lined up to each other.
Or nos and nose and I'm like, I'm looking at it.
Like, we're about to do this thing?
And then he says, go.
And Eric just cranks me in the face.
Yeah.
And I'm like, all right, game on.
So then I started going after him.
And you got him good.
Yeah, he was trying to, like, tackle me at some point because I was getting some good shots in on him.
So he was, like, kind of at my waist, and I would just kind of try to get body shots in.
But it was such a thrill.
And I liked it a concerning amount of times.
But any time the fight got out of hand, they'd kind of call it, they'd have you meet back in the middle.
You'd rego.
You guys went three times, I think.
And you don't know how long you're going to go.
Yeah.
Like, they'll call it anytime they have a clear winner, which is wild.
You know what's interesting is something that you could tell was going on as it was happening,
but I got to see it more during the TV was how locked in all of the DS were in almost like a protective way,
because they are truly watching your every move.
right there to call stop or like off and that was like the big thing that they preached was the
second I say off you turn it off and you're done otherwise people get hurt really bad because remember
they said controlled aggression so the control part is what they were looking for with the stop so
you go I think they had to go three times like they would call stop line back up go again stop
line back up go again honestly I felt good about my fight and how I showed up in it except for
Eric had three clean shots on my nose that I was like,
he bloodied, yeah.
I took a punch.
And they say you don't know how well you can take a punch until you take a punch.
And so like some people just, they black out.
That's genetically kind of what they do.
And so he got me the first time I'll never forget.
And I was like, oh, and you kind of are disoriented.
And then I was like, I'm still on my feet, baby.
Let's go.
Let's go.
Let's get back in it.
So then you're freaking jumping back in.
So then after you're done, they line you and Eric up.
They like grab your hands.
and then Foxy from above
is the one that calls the winner
or who pass who failed
and they called you
and I was so proud of like
was it a shock?
No but when you're watching
it's hard to like
you're both going balls to the wall
and neither of us know how to box so
but when Foxy was like
11 I was like this right
okay so fast forward
they go through everybody now
it's literally down
literally down to
the only two people who have not fought
me and Jesse
how obvious is that
so we're like let's freaking go
and you know what they do they call me
and they don't call Jesse
and I was like what the fuck is happening
what the frick is happening
and she's standing there and they're not calling her and they're not calling
anyone and I look up and I'm seeing Foxy
kind of mouthed Billy
trying to figure out who I'm going to fight
and babe, I will never
forget when I saw him
mouth, I can't even remember her name, her number
now, when they mouthed Christy's
number. Nine. She was nine.
Christy Rampone
was a dog. She was a dog.
She was a dog.
Yeah. And when I saw the mouth
her number, I was like, oh,
please no.
I'm going to die. I'm going to die.
And then Foxy,
mouthed the number and as he
mowed it to Billy
Foxy was like
and you could literally see the face like
ah no and then
they called Brie
and I was like what is happening
why don't I have Jesse
why don't I have Gia
yeah who's also my height
and they call Brie
who's like 5-9
5-10
way taller
and I'm like fine
we just got to do this thing
try to stand I just kept telling myself
don't fall down
you did a great job you could have been more aggressive i'll say that i was shocked because i've seen
you do you know how many headshots she got in within the first five seconds it was like this
it was like boom boom boom boom i was like i couldn't even have a second to think to your credit
there's a lot of people who when they touch gloves and had you go kind of turn their back sean
stayed in the game the whole i just let her take my head out for a minute and a half but all i heard
at one point was DSA get low
and so I squatted down
and just went after her stomach
because it's the only thing I can reach
anyway she gets done
bloody nose all over a place
well do you remember when that happened
yes I remember thinking
at one point
they had to stand up and rego
I remember thinking that
or remembering that they were like stop
get ready go again and I remember thinking
my nose is really runny that's odd
I don't remember it hurting ever
I don't remember like feeling like I got punched
and thinking
did I just break my nose? I just remember thinking
all of a sudden my nose is runny
and I don't get bloody noses
I cannot tell you I've
I don't have a memory of ever having
a bad runny nose maybe like a tiny bit
but never from like impact
and so they ended up calling it
and they're like done
go back to your guys Rudy D or Q
so I go back to Q and I'm like trying to sniff
and I'm like what is happening
so I wiped my nose with the glove
And I was like, off, brick.
Okay, can we just be honest for a second?
Mealtime with kids is chaos.
Absolute chaos.
One kid wants mac and cheese.
The other wants chicken nuggets.
And then the toddler decides that they're suddenly allergic to everything green.
Oh, yes.
It's like every night is a game show called What Will They Eat?
And honestly, we were losing that game until we found Nurture Life.
This episode of Couple Things is sponsored by Nurture Life.
And parents, listen up.
It's a meal delivery service that makes.
nutritious meals and snacks, your kids will actually want to eat. And it saves us so much time
and so much stress. The whole menu is designed for kids 10 months to 10 years and the meals
are fresh, fully cooked, and literally ready in one minute. That's faster than I can get the kids
strapped into their chairs. And they're not boring either. Our kid's absolute favorite meal right
now is the mac and cheese. It's a classic, but I'm seriously not kidding. I steal bites of their
spaghetti and meatballs too. It is so good. Last night, we had nurture life after soccer practice
and let me tell you three kids, three different moods,
and somehow everybody ate without a meltdown.
Miracles do exist.
What I love most is that meals are made fresh every week,
no frozen blocks of mystery food.
Everything is designed by registered dietitians,
so we know we're giving our kids something that's actually good for them.
You know we love a meal delivery service,
and this takes a stress off of us for sure.
There's no scrambling, there's no negotiating,
there's no just eat three more bites.
It's a game changer.
So here's the deal.

and then cue goes don't you get blood on my gloves that's what he said to me and i'm like
dude i got something poured out of my face here
And then it evidently got worse
And it wasn't like Andrews
because you didn't get called to the medic
And they sent me straight to the medic
And that's when I got scared
Not for my safety
I was never in pain
But I was like
They don't send you to the medic
Unless you're medically withdrawn
Yeah
And I was
I immediately started shaking
I went and sat down
Because you were nervous
Because I was like
Am I leaving?
So
So then I really
realize and it there's no there's no farewell no when someone goes it's like you see them one
moment and then the next they're gone so i just realized oh wait sean i might not see her again so i was
like honestly it was not a good play with the yes i broke the rules and i went to the back room
because i was like i have to say goodbye or we have to like we have to talk about am i should i
leave home with you or are you injured or what's the situation and i go back there and no sooner
did I see your face, then a blood clot, I can't believe they didn't show this.
A blood clot that was seriously three or four inches long slipped out of her nose.
And it was like, there was so much.
Oh my gosh, what is happening?
Even the blood that they showed on TV was not like the peak moment.
There was so much blood coming out of my nose.
And there were two different medics.
There was like the medic that you saw on TV and then another medic who was like caring for your
things like this.
And I remember looking over at the guy medic who,
I kind of felt it was like a buddy of mine.
We had like a funny little exchange going on.
And I look over and he kind of winks at me
and gives me a thumbs up.
And I was like, okay, I don't think I'm out yet.
I don't think I'm out.
And then I saw the medic and I went and was feeling my own nose.
And I'm like, it's not broken.
It's not broken.
I don't have to leave, right?
And she's laughing.
She's like, or not laughing.
She was pretty stone cold, actually.
Yeah, she was.
And she's like, I'll do my assessment.
And I'm like, it's not broken.
It's not broken.
Yeah.
And so they send me back out.
Thank God.
I didn't have to get medically drawn.
It still was bleeding forever.
Yeah.
So at this point, I'll never forget that night I had crusted up blood and dust from breathing just like coated my nose, which was so uncomfortable.
I was picking out these nasty boogies just trying to clean it all up.
I do want to say, Bree.
So let me just say all of this.
Bree very closely, her and I bonded very fast on day one.
um we were on the same team we were stuck on the mountain together we had to lead our team in
some of the races like everything we had bonded very quickly she was scarred by that fight
the fact that she hit me she was in tears after she was in tears she thought she broke my nose
i just want to say this for like everybody listening i was so proud of her like we want to see
each other show up and do well and not like hold back i was so proud especially like her past
and everything. I was so proud that she could show up and do that.
And so I had zero ill will, resentment, anger at the fact that she, like, got me good.
I was proud. I was pissed at myself. I was literally just pissed at myself that I couldn't hold my own.
They ended up saying it was a draw. It was clearly a fail. They were just proud I didn't fall over.
That was another one where a lot of people were in tears before getting called to boxing because
it's like a, you know, it's a scary thing. You see people with bloody noses.
people get knocked down.
Yeah. I remember I went from riding a high after my fight to when they started calling
people for a second fight, I was like, oh no.
Because Bree, I was Bree's second fight. She had to fight.
I think, I think Bree fought twice. Yeah, yeah.
They're right?
No, Chanel. She had to fight Chanel.
And then Mark went twice. And I was like, oh, no, it might not be done.
Because there's like this sense of relief when you have it done and what you think is behind
you yeah anyways that was that was wild so we okay so we get through all that that took a while
we ended up going back i'm pretty sure we had a bee sting that night maybe yeah where we had to do
a workout um had dinner and went to bed well and that was kind of like the day another thing we didn't
talk about last time is when someone leaves there is no goodbye there's no farewell ceremony
and then it's really somber it is because they just come in to the barracks and they take
the cot the shoe box and everything and then and then it's just like there's always silence anytime
they would come in and take the cot because you're like dang we lost one so at the end of day two
there's 15 of the 18 of us left and you're like already the vibes were different you know teresa's
gone she's she felt like the the group mom that was a huge switch too because we're all again
I don't know how you bond that fast but we had bonded so fast all of us in seeing Gia's pain
having Teresa leave
and feeling all of our pain
having Teresa leave since she was the mom
and seeing again
that Eva had like
overcome her fear and done the drowning thing
and then to see her leave
it was just like a
oh frick this is real
this is like happening
yeah
I think one thing that group did well
that allowed for the bonding
and after boxing I was kind of worried
like are people going to be pissed after the fact
like oh you embarrass me
but people didn't really let their ego
get in the way and we were really all cheering for each other so even like to johnny's credit when
he boxed randall he could have gotten mad because randle went ham and but johnny was like dang dog
you freaking bodied me yeah and it's like it was more of a comedy take than an ego like how could
you ever do that you embarrass me and whatever it was like there was not any of that in this group
which allowed for the bonding i will say the three people who were like i don't want to say they
They were like, they kept everybody laughing and they kept everybody happy and they kept everybody on the lighthearted side.
It was Nick, Swaggy Pee, Ravi, Ravi Patel, and Bree.
They kept people laughing the whole time.
They were like the color commentators.
But it's good because like when there's no ego, then you bond because it's comedy, not embarrassment.
And you're also encouraging, which creates more bonding.
It's kind of this virtuous cycle.
before I forget to,
Rovey was really mad
because during his fight,
that was the only fight
they gave different rules
and it was like body shots only.
It was him against Jesse.
Yeah,
and everyone else they said
you could punch anywhere,
not below the belt,
maybe.
I don't even know if they said that,
but for them specifically,
they said body shots only.
He can't punch faces.
Yeah,
Revy was pissed.
So then he was confused.
We were all kind of confused.
And then they didn't call Jesse to fight either
who,
remember when I say,
She didn't want to fight at all.
She was, like, really worked up.
And then afterwards, she was, she was pissed because she was like,
I wanted to fight so bad.
She, like, flipped the switch and she was ready to go, but they didn't call her.
They didn't end up having Jesse Decker fight at all.
She evidently had a, she had a medical issue.
Which I don't know you could do that going on it.
Nope.
She didn't either.
And maybe there was some contractual stuff with why the other fights were different.
Who knows?
But it was kind of just interesting to see that side of things, too.
So then we go to bed at 1145.
that night.
That was an early night for us.
We were up 545 to 1145 that day too.
It was nuts.
Light shut off.
But they cut out so much of that episode.
I got zero love on my boxing match, which was fine.
And then obviously the whole storyline of the airplane and like the fears that people
had there kind of consumed a lot of the episode.
But what a time.
What a time.
Stay tuned for day three where we had, oh my gosh.
Soon.
Just urban warfare.
really curious how they show this because there should be laughs there should be a lot of laughs in
this one because this was so painful it was so painful i thought i was going to vomit geez oh man
anyway uh let us know if you're enjoying these episodes hopefully this is helpful behind the scenes
uh again this is all extremely real we were in pain and discomfort and fear most of our time on
this show uh but we did bond fantastically so i'm so glad we're doing these too because
already this is fading to the hazy part of my memory i was to say i don't remember i like have to
i'm digging deep i still think we did the water bottles this day did we not i don't think so thank
but i'm just glad because i want to remember this and all of its nuances for a long time doing these
episodes it's helpful for sean and i if even if you guys don't like it so anyway all right
that's it peace
