Starting point is 00:00:00 Today's episode's brought to by Factor. Factor's got those good meals delivered right to your home. Now let's jump to this podcast. Everybody, it's time for goes on Trenton. Let me sit, trend on in the morning. In the morning. Broadcastle live, live, live, live, live, long. In four hour and 40 studio. Record it.
Starting point is 00:00:24 Wait your ass up. It's up next, Trenton, in the morning. Hello, everyone's I'm gonna'clock in the morning. Yeah, time, more fun. Whoa. Oh, you sounded like when a robot breaks down. Yeah, like woppy.
Starting point is 00:00:45 Right, but, you know, like, in the sad way, not like the funny, oh, that woppy way. But in like, like, oh, and he was just going to tell the hero how to solve the problem. Yeah, oh, that's a classic movie trope or a, I guess, story trope in general. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:01 Oh, broken down robots. Those guys, so unreliable. It is pretty, honestly, it is pretty funny. Not even just robots, but whenever there's the trope of they're like dying or something's happening, and they're just like, what's the code? And he's like, the code is... Buh. And they just die.
Starting point is 00:01:20 I don't know why they do that. I guess it's like a... It feels like a way they're trying to build suspense. Like, uh-oh, we didn't get the information. But it's like, it feels unrealistic. Like, they couldn't just get that last little sentence. out or something. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Yeah, it's one of those, like, you think it's going to be an easy answer and they're just going to get it, but really they have to discover it for themselves in some other much more difficult way. It feels like a, again, most writing is tropes now, but like the idea of, you know how if you see that sort of loop of storytelling, and it's like there's the call to action, and there's all these different steps along the way.
Starting point is 00:01:59 And one of them is always like, oh, the thing we thought we had to do wasn't actually the thing we had to do. We got to do this whole other thing because it requires it now. That's one of those tropes of how you do that. It's just be like, the person we needed to see is dead. Oh, no. Yeah. I mean, it's like if you do the trope well, that's kind of the thing I've learned a lot from writing is there's a lot of tropes that are done well and then people don't care because it's like, oh, that was done in a way that wasn't like unrealistic and it fit the story and all these things.
Starting point is 00:02:30 It's when they just kind of use them just to use them or it doesn't fit. Sure. I mean, my favorite thing in the world is when people try to subvert tropes. And in reality, they realize that there's a reason a trope works. And if you subvert it, it just isn't good. Yeah. Like, you're like, cool. I mean, like, you get there and the guy goes, I do have the information.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Here you go. Like, that's boring. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I think a lot of people subvert just to try and be different. But being different from everything else doesn't really. like it doesn't really matter
Starting point is 00:03:02 if it doesn't make sense or it feels off or it isn't done well. Yes, yeah. Absolutely. Again, people complain about tropes but like they're good and they exist for a reason, man. Yeah, exactly. In fact, we're essentially tropes. Oh, oh, we are literally like
Starting point is 00:03:23 the oldest form of entertainment. We are basically puppets on a puppet show. We're like Punching Judy, dude. We are literally, there's the two, the two man show dates back centuries. I don't even know what a pup and Judy is. Punch and Judy. Punch and Judy. Google, Google Punch and Judy sometime.
Starting point is 00:03:45 It'll blow your mind. Punch and Judy. All right, do it now, I guess. Oh my God, we are. Yeah, dude. What the heck? It's just, it is what it is. It's been a, it's been the, there's a reason,
Starting point is 00:03:59 why the two-man show has been a thing forever. And then the three-man show became a thing, but the third person always had to be completely different from the vibe of the first two. Ah, yeah. Which is why on radio shows for years and years and years, it was two absolute insane people and one normal person who, like, did the news. Yeah, no, that makes sense. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:26 It's just, it's always been that way. And it works. There's a reason it works. Yeah, I mean, that's why I think when we do geekenders, it becomes Cox and Crendor with Dodger. She's the normal person. Yes, yes, she's the normal one. She's the normie. Yeah. And if you're good at it, you move between roles. So you get in where you fit in, because there's sometimes where Dodger and I will do a thing and we'll have a guest on and they become the normal one.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Yeah. No, that is true. I mean, that's like you used to be more of the goofy guy with PB. and PB was the serious one. Sure, yeah. But if we were both serious, I would have found that a boring podcast. Oh, yeah, because then you're just becoming NPR or whatever it is. Yeah, yeah. And look, he can do that.
Starting point is 00:05:10 He doesn't mean me to do that, right? Yeah. No, absolutely not. Oh, my God. Speaking of groups of people entertaining. Uh-huh, yes, go on. So this weekend was, the Chicago Comic-Con.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Yes. Yeah, me and Toaster Woman went to that. And it was, you know, for the most part, it was just your standard Comic-Con thing. They got booths, they got comics, they got cosplay, they got whatever, you know, all that stuff, anime.
Starting point is 00:05:45 They had the artist alley. Usually I'll check the artist stuff. That's kind of fun. The booths are the actual floor where they're selling things is just like, a majority of it's like drop ship stuff they're just trying to like price up or selling kind of stuff that just looks like it didn't really look that, you know, like different from a lot of other things.
Starting point is 00:06:08 Or it didn't feel like they put their own style into it. Or maybe they did, but it didn't feel like it enough compared to some other people, if that makes sense. I think you're referring to the I made a poster of a hot anime character, but it's like every other hot anime character poster you could buy here. Yeah, I'm aware. There's definitely those. But I mean, for the most part, like a lot of those,
Starting point is 00:06:27 booths were popping off, but like a lot of the people that were like promoting their books and stuff didn't have as many people, but I think it's just harder to do that. Yeah, it's a book and you have to sell them on it based on a cover and your description of the book. They're not going to sit there and read it. And it's crowded, it's loud, and you're just like, what's the book about? And they're just like, oh yeah, it's
Starting point is 00:06:48 it's a guy yelling over everybody. So yeah, that's definitely harder. Yeah, I feel that way about like, you go to packs and there's card game areas. And it's like, okay, you're going to sell me on this card game in an area that's very loud while we all crowd around the smallest table imaginable so you can show me how to play your card game. I feel bad for them because it must be tough. No, yeah, it definitely is.
Starting point is 00:07:15 But so anyway, we did all that. My legs were holding up. I was happy about that. As someone who's been, you know, leg rehabbing all year. I was like, hey, you know what? I'm walking on concrete a lot. my tendons aren't flaring. Big time progress.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Isometrics are working. And then honestly going to the Renfair, I think it helps strengthen them too. But, and then, you know, I started doing some strength training. Yeah, you had that magic and boldament spell placed upon you at the Renfair.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Yeah. You've got those, you've got those grieves of extra walking. Yeah, you know, paid for the curse removal, the old witch. Right. Yeah, yeah, of course. That was a big one.
Starting point is 00:07:56 But, so we did all that. We were like, what are the panels? And, like, there wasn't any great panels, really, that we saw. So, like, we went into, a lot of times we'd go to these, and we'd just go into the panel rooms and, like, chill out or just find, like, a random panel that's just, like, old man comic guy talks about what it's like to draw comics for 40 years, like, that type of thing.
Starting point is 00:08:18 And you're just like, all right, and you, like, chill out, rest your legs or, you know, there's whatever. But there weren't that many of them. But they were, like, 8 p.m. We are doing the Hobbit 26th or the Lord of the Rings 26th anniversary with all the hobbits. Yo. So they literally had Elijah Wood and Sean Ashton and then Barry and Pippin, their actors. They were all there.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Dom and other guy? Yeah. Dillie Bean. Dominic Leas? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Honestly, I like them the most. They were funny. But they were doing their thing and they were like, you know what?
Starting point is 00:08:55 it's like 40 bucks. Well, it was like 20 bucks a ticket, but it was two of us. So I was like, you know what? Screw it. How many times are we going to see all four hobbits? You have to go. You have to see the hobbits. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:08 So we went. We got, we waited in line. It was actually pretty well organized. They like spaced out the lines that we got in decent seats. And then we listened to the hobbits for like an hour. And it was pretty great. Elijah Wood was cool. They had him eat deep dish pizza and judge.
Starting point is 00:09:25 it. That was pretty fun. The Chicago experience. I think they're copying our panels, dude. It's crazy. They actually might be. They had them like reenact some of the, what was it, the
Starting point is 00:09:39 scene from the tavern where they run into Strider for the first time. But they all had to like play different characters. So like, I think one of the, Marrier Pippin was playing Strider and they were just like, you need to know. And they were just like acting at all. It was goofy. So it was pretty fun.
Starting point is 00:09:55 And then they, oh my God, they are talking about like back backstage stories and stuff they did. So it's pretty cool. They were talking about how like, I guess like Strider or Vigo Mortensen or whatever like kissed Sam. It was like some crazy shit that happened. I believe that there have to be a lot of amazing stories of, you know. apparently where they were was like a little ass tiny town Oh yeah So they obviously just became the bestest of buds during that filming process
Starting point is 00:10:33 Yeah Because uh yeah yeah it was like a long time to be there They said uh Sam or Sean Yeah his daughter was there like putting stickers on their faces Uh and then Yeah I mean that the girl at the end I believe is his daughter When he like holds the baby Yeah it is
Starting point is 00:10:52 Because they mentioned that and then he's like, well, now she's all grown up. And I guess she's traveling with him because then she came on stage and she's like 24 now or something. Yeah, I don't like that. Knowing that she was a baby when that was filmed and that was 24, 25 years ago. So like, I get that. Yeah. So they even, she came up on stage and she was like, I was the girl at the end. And then they reenacted that scene.
Starting point is 00:11:20 And he still like, caught. Cute. Oh, stop it. They were just like, one of the Mary Pippin guys are just like, man, you got that upper body strength still. That's holding up. And he's just like, can I jump into your arm? So that was fun. But there was also these two girls next to us that like kept, you know how like some people like fidget. But like, I don't mind if people are fidgeting. But she had like a piece of paper. like the program and she was like scratching the chair with it. And like she didn't do it constantly, but like every little bit you would just hear like,
Starting point is 00:12:00 I was just like, what if we just didn't scratch the chair? Because we're trying to listen to something we paid money to see. All right? Oh man. And then. Yeah, that does, that does suck. But as a person who fidgets,
Starting point is 00:12:18 I sympathize. I have been around people. Man, I was with this girl one. time and I was like fidgeting and she like grabbed my hand and just looked at me and goes, stop. So I get it. I get it. Listen, I get it.
Starting point is 00:12:35 I don't mind people fidgeting. It's just when it's a quiet. Oh, when it's not you, it's annoying. When it's you, you're like getting through a thing. When it's someone else you're like,
Starting point is 00:12:45 please stop. No, I get it completely. Yeah. Especially when it's quiet and you're trying to listen to a thing you paid for. And you're like, but these same girls, girls. I actually thought it was funny because they were talking, they were doing like trivia at the start of the thing.
Starting point is 00:12:59 It's like, when, who's the guy, who's the name of the character that captures Froda? Like all that type of shit. And they had one moment where they were looking at their phone. And she goes, oh my God. Did you know that like Aragorn breaks his foot when he kicks a bucket or something? And she was like, wow, really? That's insane. I was like, oh my God. They're literally learning about the meme. they're learning about that is really that is really funny that i almost part of me wants to believe it's a joke like they're doing a joke amongst themselves because it's so widely known but you also have to understand that that's only widely known in
Starting point is 00:13:37 like people who really like lord of the rings yeah like the the whole meme behind it is somebody that loves lord of the rings is going to tell you that at some point right right they're just like i don't know i have to tell you uh so i just thought it was funny you know just like do they actually not know that or they they me me or like but whatever um but anyway then at the end of the the end of the hobbit thing they they had sean asked and and he was just like you know we put this picture up on social media of the four of us and it was just you know my daughter posted it on the social media because i don't go on there and it was just like seven million likes and then
Starting point is 00:14:15 i was like man it's crazy how four dudes can just get like seven million likes from just hanging out And he's like, I was trying to think like, why do so many people care? And he's like, I think it's just people like seeing four dudes just having a good time being real. And I was just like, I think it's because you were the hobbits. Yeah, yeah, dude, I think it's because you were the hobbits and people like the idea that you're still friends as the hobbits. Yeah, exactly. I was like, he just like didn't generate that. I was just like, dude, it's because you're the hobbits.
Starting point is 00:14:43 If you were just like four random dudes, nobody'd care. Like, you were the hobbits, man. I got to be real. if it was him and Josh Brolin and like the other cast members from Goonies I'd have the same reaction I'd be like oh they still hang out together that's amazing
Starting point is 00:14:58 yeah so it was that just made me just think I was like is he just like oblivious to the fact that like people are like it's the hobbits is it that's it sounded like it but you know whatever I imagine I imagine it when you've been
Starting point is 00:15:14 like he is both famous but not. Right. You know what I mean? Like Sean Ashton exists in a world of he is in some of the, like some of my favorite movies ever. Rudy, Lord of the Rings, Goonies, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:30 But, and I guess he did stranger things recently. But like, that's kind of it. He's not in a lot of stuff. Like he's not a Hollywood guy where he's Hollywooding a lot. He's in some like major things and then that's it. And so I can understand how he could be like, well, I'm not, I'm not a celebrity. You know, like that kind of thing. I can understand it, but it's wrong, but I can understand.
Starting point is 00:15:55 Yeah. Especially when it's been like, you know, pretty much your whole life and your pod just like, yeah. Honestly, you know what it probably is? It's probably like the Twitch streamers or YouTubers where they get really big. And they're like, God, they guys so famous, all this stuff. And they're just like, man, if only I'd like 20 million subs instead of four. Like, you know, I'm a nobody's. that type of thing.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Absolutely. Everyone compares themselves to everyone else, I think. And also, you know, um, all of them, even Elijah Wood, really.
Starting point is 00:16:26 Most of them are not like, in your face all the time, Hollywood actors. Yeah. That's, that's honestly very true. Yeah, even honestly,
Starting point is 00:16:36 Elijah would seem just like a, a very chill, friendly guy. If you watch the show where, uh, Mary and Pippen just travel around and eat, same vibe. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:48 They just seem like two dudes. I think it's interesting that, I mean, like, even Vigo, like most of the actors from that, like, well, I must say franchise, but those three movies, because there's a lot more beyond that. Yeah. But those three movies, most of them,
Starting point is 00:17:05 only did a few things, and that was it. And, you know, except for my man, you know, Ian McKellen, who is just like in everything all the time. And I love him for that. And obviously Sean Bean. Carl Urban, like he went on to go do things. But yeah, most of the cast,
Starting point is 00:17:25 that's like they are the Hobbit. They're from, they are, you know, Aragorn. That's it. And like, you know, good luck getting anything else. Yeah. Oh, there's Orlando Bloom, obviously. You're right. Orlando Bloom did go on to do things.
Starting point is 00:17:42 Yeah. They were actually talking about Orlando. because they're like, I think it was one of Marrier Pippin. They're just like, man, he's like, out of all the people on set, Orlando Bloom really was an elf. And he was like, he's like six foot two. He smelled good. He was kind of up his own ass. He's like, he's like Orlando. Did they tell the story that I think everyone knows where it's like when they all met at the airport.
Starting point is 00:18:11 And they were all just like, Hobbit? And he was like, elf? and they just immediately knew each other. They were like, oh shit, we're all, we know who we are based on how tall we are. They did not tell that. They did tell a story if they went skiing. And I guess they're like learning how to ski and all this stuff. And they were like, do not go to the top of that mountain.
Starting point is 00:18:30 That's like crazy skiers and whatever. And they're like, we're like, okay. And then they said, we look over and Orlando blooms at the top of the mountain. And he's like, why'd you go up there? And he's just like, whatever. And he's like, skied down. And they're just like, oh, my God. That guy's crazy.
Starting point is 00:18:46 That's because his father was a pirate, as we all know. Exactly. He lived to the bottom of the ocean. Yeah. Yeah, that was a fun time. I'm glad we got to see that. And so, I even found the picture they posted he was talking about. And all of the comments are just Hobbit related.
Starting point is 00:19:05 They're just like, imagine being the hostess and four hobbits roll up. It's like, potatoes. Did you ask for potatoes? Oh, yeah. I would be embarrassed to eat. even say a joke like that to them. I'd be like, who here ordered the potato?
Starting point is 00:19:18 I'd be like, no. Don't do that. Yeah, that's, I would not do that either. So yeah, that was a fun time though. So,
Starting point is 00:19:29 and I also saw a couple, a couple of fans of our podcast. That was neat. Yo. So they were like, it's Crendor. And I was like, what?
Starting point is 00:19:41 That was cool. So yeah, good time. I like that in my imagination, you turned around like a cryptid being discovered in the forest. You know, I mean... It's trying to order to go, whoa! It's possible. I didn't truly...
Starting point is 00:19:55 Like, I can't see myself, obviously. But I probably do have some sort of cryptid reaction. I was thinking about this. I was having a conversation. I think I was, like, Friday I went for a walk with Alex and Davis, and we were walking around. Like, by the way, way, way too hot for a walk. I don't know why we decided to do that. Right.
Starting point is 00:20:13 But we were walking around and we were talking about like How we derive joy from stuff Look when you go for walks you have weird conversations We're talking about like how you derive joy from things And I was like I derive joy from giving people things Like I just like being able to gift things to people It makes me happy to see people get things they like Or unexpected things they weren't expecting
Starting point is 00:20:39 But I know they'll like that kind of thing And I realized much after the fact, this kind of goes back to what you were just saying, that the reason I enjoy it, especially if it's like a shirt or something, is that I don't necessarily always look at myself. So when I buy myself clothes, like I don't have jewelry. I'm not a jewelry. You know, like I don't have necklaces. I wouldn't do that.
Starting point is 00:21:04 But I would do that for someone else because then I get to see it on them. You know what I mean? I'm like, oh, I see it. It looks great. That's beautiful. I'm glad you enjoy. Rather than what it's me, unless I'm looking in a mirror half the time,
Starting point is 00:21:17 I don't even perceive myself. Damn. You're living vicariously through a merge. Look, it's true. I live vicariously through most things. I live vicariously through you for Warcraft, for example. I got a whole video out of it. It was great.
Starting point is 00:21:33 That's true. A lot of people did. Everyone was reacting to it. Look, it's a joy to watch you have thoughts on things. I was like, my boy's thinking, okay. And I went over, yeah. I'm actually going to talk to Noble in a couple weeks. So that'll be fun.
Starting point is 00:21:51 I mean, I always talk to Noble every expansion. We go over everything. But this time around, now we got some more bigger opinions. And I've been paying more attention, you see. I will say I had kind of like a modern day epiphany of media that upset me. Because I got done watching your video. And then I was thinking, I went and I talked to Noble and we recorded, tell me about when it comes to like, you know, what's happening. He caught me up on the story so I kind of know what's going on in a wow now.
Starting point is 00:22:22 Obviously new things just dropped or something so I don't, you know, know, know that. But while talking about it and listening to you and all those things, I had the revelation that the reason I think I'm upset with modern day Star Wars is the reason why I'm. upset with modern day World of Warcraft. And it's the insistence on not sticking to any of the things they set up. Like great. So in World of Warcraft, there's countless examples. Like, again, we can use our boy Rathian, the Black Dragon, whose whole character arc was, I'm here to fight the Burning Legion.
Starting point is 00:23:08 And then the Burning Legion shows up. And he's not even present in that expansion. Right? Same thing with Star Wars, where if you, by the way, you know, you don't have to listen to this part, Star Wars fans if you don't know this stuff yet. But in the show Asoka, Grand Amarothra, one of the most famous characters from Star Wars returns. And he has made it back into the story. Here's the problem. The story of Asoka takes.
Starting point is 00:23:39 place before the new movies. Oh. And in those new movies, there is no, it's literally, it seems like the galaxy has been at peace ever since the end of Return of the Jedi, and now there's New Trouble of Bruin. Grand Amrothraun as a presence is like, I'm going to destroy these rebels who are trying to make a republic, and I'm going to reunite the empire, and we're going to go, crazy. So, premise-wise,
Starting point is 00:24:15 either what happens is so unimportant that no one thinks or talks about it in the future. Or, never gets off the ground, which means that it is a
Starting point is 00:24:30 non-threat to begin with. None of it makes sense. And then I had the other epiphany, which is where the wow stuff comes in, during this time Luke Skywalker Han Solo Princess Leia
Starting point is 00:24:45 Chubaca they're still out there if there was a threat to the galaxy again they certainly would be involved but this is the Asoka show so they won't be involved and it's like
Starting point is 00:24:58 well then what then why do we keep doing this why do you keep insisting that it be set in this thing and the rules be the rules and then completely go against them Why do this? And it always comes down to like, well, because it's cool.
Starting point is 00:25:12 And Grandin of Thrawn is cool. And Assoca's cool. It's like, look, I'm not going to fight you on that. I think all that is neat. However, what you're doing is stupid. And you must acknowledge how stupid it is. I, listen, I just played through the latest patch intro, all right? And so I was paying attention.
Starting point is 00:25:35 And I actually enjoyed the story. that I played through for this recent patch, up until a point. All right, and it's one specific point. So if you haven't played new wow patch, you're on spoilers, then don't listen to this part. But everything was cool. Like, you're learning about the Loa and, like, there's this one quest where you play as, like, one of the priestesses, like, summoning the crazy old god Loa shit.
Starting point is 00:26:04 It's wild, all right, if you play through it. But the main thing that I, I, I, got to relates to my video I made about consequences. Like how I'm like, if they made Silvanus now, and she was like, you're going to be, or they're like, you're going to be a banshee, she'd have like banshee resistance. Because they'd be like, we can't have her become a banshee because she's
Starting point is 00:26:23 Salvanus. And so the new character, Zul Jara, and Zul Jhan and Zuljara, like brother and sister. And so he's like... By the way, it took me forever listening to Noble talk about it to realize he wasn't saying Zul Jinn. and I'm like they'd just be naming guys one letter
Starting point is 00:26:42 apart now like all right yeah so like a lot of people actually like Zul Jan because he's just like he's actually more of a one of the older type of villain characters or he's just like he's doing something crazy where you're like you know he's doing something
Starting point is 00:26:58 that's not good but like you kind of see where he's coming from he's like I don't trust the Loa I don't trust these people we're talking to like I'm gonna go my own way and you're like okay you know what At least he has some sort of like conflicting opinion that's like tearing him
Starting point is 00:27:13 one side or the other. But anyway, he's just like Hey, you know what? I'm going to do this thing for the, my people. And then Malacrash shows up and he's just like, bro, I got you. And he's just like, ah, shit. And can we again, to stress
Starting point is 00:27:29 the rule of cool when it comes to this stuff, this bad guy is literally just a voodoo mask and like a ghost body that hangs from it. And it looks awesome. It looks awesome. I actually think Malacri is pretty cool. Yeah, he looks cool as hell.
Starting point is 00:27:43 However, as a, like, as a whole, I'm like, all right, okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:27:49 Where is this going? But like, visually, I'm like, that dude looks awesome. That's a great design. Well done. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:56 So anyway, he's like got his dagger. He's got his frost morn. All right. He's got his frost morn. Yes, his like venom dripping frost morn. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:05 And he like, like, Zuljara goes to him and she like tries to stop him. She's like, what are you doing, Zuljohn? He slashes her arm and she's poison. All right. And she's just like, ah, shit. And she's like, she's like down for the count.
Starting point is 00:28:18 They're just like, can she go with us? They're like, no, she's dying. You try to cure poison. They're like, this shit's uncurable. And you're like, oh my God, dude, this is crazy. I wonder what's going to happen. So then you go off. You do all these quests.
Starting point is 00:28:29 You know, the Zuljan is like, actually, you know what? Here's the dagger. Go save my sister. And then Malikraz is like, what up? And he like grabs him. and pulls them into the void or whatever. Can we just really quickly, really quickly. Having watched that scene, I had the revelation.
Starting point is 00:28:45 And again, this is only because I'm watching cutscenes. I'm not really playing all the scenes that are in the game. But like, how many damn times is a villain who unwillingly serves another villain going to get pulled in by that second villain into a void portal? It happens so much. It really does. So yeah, they're just like, ah, shit. So anyway, then the, the Haranir woman, who I honestly don't even know that much about,
Starting point is 00:29:17 even though I've, like, done all the quest for her, but like, I just, I don't think she's that interesting. But she gets, like, corrupted by the priestess woman, and she's just like, and you fight her. And then she's just like, all right, I'm good. And I was like, wait, like, she's just, like, good now? Like, she doesn't have any, like, post-traumatic stress memories, or if she does, she's just, like, not talking about it. It's in the past.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Stop asking questions. So it just tied into my consequences thing. Like, you just got possessed by like one of the crazy old spirits or whatever. You're just like, oh, I'm good now. But anyway, that's not even the main thing. We go back to Zuljara, right? And she's just like still like on the ground. And so they're just like, all right, use the dagger on her and like destroy it or whatever.
Starting point is 00:29:59 And then you do it. And she's like, all right, cool, I'm good. And I was like, that's it? Like, she's good now? There's no like, I was like, dude, what if she has like a snake arm now? What if we have to like cut her arm off and she's just like, this is the price I had to pay trying to save my brother. I lost my arm and I'll keep fighting for him.
Starting point is 00:30:16 And you're like, oh shit, but it's just like no, I'm good. Yeah, I mean, not having played this bit, but talked with Noble about the, I think you were talking about there was one guy. He was like a light dreadlord dude. And how he ends up going bad and you have to fight him because he's like, The light is in me and I'm so all, I'm all lighted out, bro. You have to fight him. And I was like, well, that's crazy.
Starting point is 00:30:40 I had to kill that guy. And no one was like, well, I don't know that he's dead. I'm like, what do you mean? He's like, well, they respawn. I'm like, what? So was there no repercussions? He's just going to come back and be like, guys, sorry, my bad. I was all lighted out, dude.
Starting point is 00:30:51 That was crazy. Oh, yeah, Lothraxian. That was his name. I was like, wait a minute. So, oh, and then I found out the two major characters died. And he's like, well, they aren't dead. We just haven't seen them. I was like, well, all right.
Starting point is 00:31:06 Okay. So nothing really cre. Oh, and the other major character who died at the beginning of the arc, he was like, oh, no, he's back. Yeah. Plus, here's the thing with Lothraxian. I remember I was doing that quest, and he's just like, we shouldn't, like, trust these guys or whatever. And they're just like, Lothraxian, you're like drunk off light power. And I was like, actually, I don't think we should be trusting these guys.
Starting point is 00:31:29 Then you shouldn't have trusted him. So he was, like, right. but he's still like crazy or whatever? I don't even know. I don't know. I just, my, still, my biggest thing is I love when there's like crazy consequences that, like, change a character like that. Like when you have, she gets poisoned by her brother accidentally.
Starting point is 00:31:47 And then she goes through this thing where she's going to die. And it's like, you could have just had, like, again, like, she could have cut her arm off. And then she's like, I'm like a one-armed warrior now. But everyone's like, dude, she lost her arm, like trying to get her brother back. Or like, she could add like a cool venom snob. fake arm that she had to control. You know, like Princess Montanoke, he's got like the demon arm? They could have made it like that.
Starting point is 00:32:08 And it's like, oh, I can't control my arm. And it's like, she's always battling her arm. There's like so many cool angles. And they're just like, no, she's good. That body. I mean, it's going back to Star Wars, it's an inherent problem. But I think that because Star Wars already has a set story that exists, making new stories within that story,
Starting point is 00:32:26 require you to play within the boundaries of what it created to its own detriment. Like they're too scared to make an after-the-fact story. I don't know why. They are stuck playing in the exact same sandbox and they're running out of sand to play with. And same thing here where every wow expansion sets up a story in the beginning, then sends you off to go do other adventures
Starting point is 00:32:51 within that mainframe, but can't really do too much crazy stuff because when you're done, they then have to send you back to the mainframe. story. Yeah. And so it's like all these characters are meeting and all these people, they can't get too insane because if they do, the minute you're done with that, you then go back to the main problem you were dealing with before. And then that has to last over the course of however long the expansion lasts. Yeah. Which is to its own detriment. Yeah. No, it's,
Starting point is 00:33:24 and I do think part of it is they have a lot of writers in the room as well where it's a lot of conflicting opinions between all of them. I know when they even talk to Chris Metzen, he was just like, yeah, it's not how we used to, right? Like, now it's like a democracy and people are voting on stuff. So if that's how it's actually working, then that probably causes a lot of problem. Yeah, that's not writing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:48 That sounds like big corporations also controlling a lot of stuff, too, which I think is just also Star Wars and a lot of these other things. Yes. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. It's like, what if we try something crazy? And they're like, I don't want to do that. You know, I'm fine with, like, being safe.
Starting point is 00:34:08 As long as it's good. As long as it's good safe. And not like, well, you know, we want it to seem dangerous, but it's actually fake danger. And it's like, why even do that? Yeah. No, exactly. It's not dangerous at all.
Starting point is 00:34:22 It's just you're trying to do something without actually doing it. Yeah, that's a version of trope thing where it's like, ha ha! you thought it was going to be really trouble, but actually it wasn't ever going to be that. Oh, all right. Well, that was a waste of my time. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:38 And so that's really just, that's really one of my favorite things that had. Like even if you like a Game of Thrones where Jamie gets his hand cut off, you're just like, that changes his entire life. Like it changes his character. And that like propels him to be who he is towards the end of the book. And so imagine if they were just like,
Starting point is 00:34:57 we can't have him to lose his head. hand, that'd be a little too crazy. Like, it's the type of shit they're doing. But I'm still enjoying the patch. That's good. Yeah, I mean, I think it's safe to say that those little stories always are fun. I'm excited to see how any of that relates to the first two hours of the expansion. Yes.
Starting point is 00:35:18 I mean, there's theories that the Malacrass could just be Xalatath or something. I have no. Honestly, that would be kind of cool, but that probably means it won't be. what it is. What did you do this week? Man, this week was a lot of just trying to get work done. I went on like a lot of walks and walked around and saw parts of the city I hadn't seen before because I was like, you know, it's nice out, I'm going to get out, I'm going to do stuff. It was, and so it was that kind of stuff.
Starting point is 00:35:48 I will say, by doing so, I saw a lot of L.A. that, you know, sometimes you miss. but you know it's there. Right. I'll give you an example. I was standing on a street corner and I was waiting for the crosswalk to go. And there was a guy slowly, like, slowly driving down the street in his Mercedes bends. And it was one of those, like, brand new white ones. You can tell it's like a new Mercedes because it just looks different than most Mercedes.
Starting point is 00:36:22 And he's driving down the road. And I was like, he looks like he's kind of swerve in. I don't know what's going on. as he gets closer to me, I'm starting to get a little worried like he's going to come up on the sidewalk. That's how bad he was driving. I see, I'm going to say, kindly, 65 plus. I don't know his exact age, but clearly an elderly gentleman. Driving down the road, camera in hand, I thought he was filming the road.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Only when he got closer did I realize. He was so clearly looking at himself, checking himself out in his phone. God. And because he was like doing a thing where he's like stroking his face and he's like messing with his hair. I don't know what this man was off to go do. I don't know why he was acting this way. But my dude, you're too old for it. Whatever that was, you could have killed someone.
Starting point is 00:37:12 He was in like two lanes at one point. And he's not just, you know, a quick check. He is holding it in front. I thought he was using it to drive. Like he was holding it in front of him to see the road because he like had it magnified. It was that in front of him. And I was like, dude, what do you do? I looked at him and he looked at me and then like kept doing it.
Starting point is 00:37:37 Like he saw that I saw that he was driving badly and said, well, this is important to me, so I'm going to keep going. And it was like primping his hair. Here's the thing. He barely had any hair to primp. Maybe in his mind he did. Yeah, maybe he got a haircut. Maybe he just got a haircut. He was like, I'm looking good.
Starting point is 00:37:54 Can't wait to show the ladies at the home. It was crazy. And it reminded me that like, oh, yes. Even in L.A. When you're 70, 80, you're still in L.A. Yep. That is absolutely true. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:11 I was like, oh, all right. Well, that was, that was, it was shocking that there was no one else on the road at the time. Usually at that intersection there are. But I guess because it was like a Saturday at 9 a.m., the guy lucked out. Yeah. He definitely would have got hit by somebody not paying attention. Yeah, yeah. It was a bizarre.
Starting point is 00:38:33 So, like, that's the kind of stuff where I would go around. Like, I saw, oh, dude, I went to the grocery store this morning, saw this very attractive. I'm going to say, like, 35, 40-year-old woman and her kid. Now, this woman was dressed like she was going out to, like, you know, flirt at a bar. And she had that vibe, right? And the kid
Starting point is 00:39:03 looked, I'm trying to imagine like if you compacted a surfer dude, you took a dude with long hair and then you just shrunk him down to child size. And he kept calling his mom bro. And he's like, bro, look at this, bro. And the mom, at first I just thought, oh, right, it's a mom.
Starting point is 00:39:23 And then she goes, well, I don't know what you want. I'll be over here. And she like storms off away from her child. And everything clicked. I was like, oh, oh. This is one of those like, I don't want to raise a child. I want to raise a friend.
Starting point is 00:39:42 And the child sees mom as not a mom figure, right? And the two of them, I watched them go around the grocery store and just, if there were reality TV show cameras hidden, I would have believed it. Because he would be like, bro, can we get some of this? bro? And she'd be like, oh, if you're paying for it, you'd be like, how am I supposed to pay for it,
Starting point is 00:40:06 bro? You're the money. And she goes, that's right, I am. And then she'd walk away. And I'm like, what the hell? That is. Some weird stuff. I mean, there's probably a lot of that in L.A. where it's like a lot of people have kids and they still
Starting point is 00:40:23 want to live like they're in their 20s or something. Yes, there's one TikTok lady who does bits about like California housewives. I don't know her name. Every time I see her videos, I have to click off of them because they're insufferable. Like I don't know what it is about her, but all of her videos outrage me. I think it's both her as a person and the bits she does because they're so accurate. But in saying that she's right, they are, what she's doing is so accurate.
Starting point is 00:40:51 I don't even want to watch her own content. I am like when people got upset about Joffrey That's how I am with her I don't even like you lady Like you could be a lovely person But based on the skits you put out on TikTok I do not like you And that's
Starting point is 00:41:08 She's nailing it Her shorts are the exact same thing As what I just witnessed Yeah that's I mean there's probably enough People you see out there Every day that you can easily put together like a generic
Starting point is 00:41:26 assumption of like this is what we pretty much see from all these types of people. Honestly, it becomes a trope. Mm-hmm. That's true. Yeah. Yeah. There's a, what's funny is I think I get a lot
Starting point is 00:41:38 of L.A. TikTok. So I get a lot of people, one, who are actors, who two, are trying to do bits and three, clearly work in food service or whatever. So most of the TikToks I get are people making fun of really awful
Starting point is 00:41:53 customers they have. And the thing is they're not wrong. Those people, I see them all the time, and I'm like, no, no, they nailed it. But I also don't want to be reminded about it constantly on TikTok. Yes.
Starting point is 00:42:08 Like, I'm aware they exist. And I think it's funny they exist because they're the worst. But also, I don't want to see it when I'm not forced to see it. When I go on my TikTok, I don't get any of it. I got a man with his shirt off
Starting point is 00:42:23 playing a key. keyboard with glasses like futuristic glasses and he was going meow meow meow get on the bus and he just did that over
Starting point is 00:42:35 and over and then you go woof woof woof get on the bus and that's it this is what's crazy is my version of that isn't some guy with the keyboard
Starting point is 00:42:50 my version of that is like an old man on a balancing beam or some type of ball he's trying to balance on while twirling nunchucks and it's like, here I am,
Starting point is 00:43:00 rock you like a hurt. That's what I get. That's pretty close. It's a little more action oriented. It's like the Jesse version. Yeah, yeah, yeah. A little more like 80s action movie. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:43:13 I did see you and Dodger did your virtue test. I don't even know what that was, but I was like, I'll do it. And I found, I thought it was funny that all of us had high patience. but it makes sense I wanted to be like oh yeah I feel like that's correct
Starting point is 00:43:28 based on our job but then I also saw a lot of people had high patience Yeah some people probably lied It wasn't their number one But a lot of people had very high patients I think the problem with a lot of these types of tests Is people answer how they want to see themselves
Starting point is 00:43:45 And not how they actually are Sure oh yeah Oh yeah Yeah They'll just be like Um Do I consider others and they'll be like
Starting point is 00:43:54 yeah I'm pretty considerate but then they get put in a situation they'll just be like well I don't want to go over there like right but in their head they want to appear like they're like that so they're like yeah and that's I think that's what happens with a lot of these the problem I had with that that quiz thing was that most of the questions I was like
Starting point is 00:44:11 I feel neither way about this I don't care about this so I'll just stay right in the middle which is why I have a lot that appear to be very close to each other that makes like I was like I don't I don't care about this. This isn't a thing.
Starting point is 00:44:25 It's like, if your friend was in trouble, would you help them? Like, yes. It's like, if your friend was in trouble but didn't tell you, would you help them? Like, well, how would I know they were in trouble? So no, I clearly wouldn't help them because I wouldn't know. I'm like, what do you want for me, thing? I mean, you did get higher on bravery. My bravery was like 22%.
Starting point is 00:44:48 I was just like, I don't know, maybe I wouldn't. Yeah, but that's because it was questions. Like, if you could travel the world. And I'm like, yeah, easy, done. You know? Yeah. That's true. I mean, that's the problem.
Starting point is 00:45:04 I get with those generic tests. It's kind of like BuzzFeed quizzes. It was just a BuzzFeed quiz. But for personality. Yeah, except it was done. Yeah, it was done in an undertale fashion. And so there's one part of it where I thought, I was like, oh, is this going to be creepy and weird?
Starting point is 00:45:19 Because there's a moment where the text changes in the, the questions and it's turned to the villain of the game and I was like oh is this going to be like a thing no it wasn't oh no it was just a quiz but I thought they were doing something so that's why I was in I was like oh okay this is fun
Starting point is 00:45:37 nope it was just like 50 questions that I answered for no damn reason yeah that's yeah no it's all the because I've seen other people do it and it's definitely like I said if some Somebody's just like, I'm very patient, but then they're, you know, at a thing being like, where's my coffee?
Starting point is 00:45:57 And then they start like yelling. They're, because nobody wants to see the, well, a lot of people don't want to see the negatives of themselves. Oh, dude. I, I know mine's real because my patience and kindness is a maxed out stat. Today, when I was at the grocery store and I saw the mom and the kid, I also went to the bakery to go get a loaf of bread because I'm like really into just like, I'm going to get these loaves of bread at the bakery. do my thing. So there was a guy at the bakery, uh,
Starting point is 00:46:25 not very fluent in English. And so I was trying to describe to him and was like, I would like to get the ancient grain loaf. I really like that one. And he's like, are there none out there? I'm like, nope.
Starting point is 00:46:36 And he's like, okay, let me look. But I don't think he, like, he clearly can speak it English, but I don't think he could read it well because he couldn't find the right loaf.
Starting point is 00:46:46 He just didn't know where he was looking. So I was being very patient, just waiting for him, waiting for him to look around and try and find this thing. Meanwhile, this woman keeps coming up and she goes, sir, sir, where's that gluten-free bread, sir? And he keeps pointing. He's like, it's right over there.
Starting point is 00:47:02 It's there facing that way. And she walks over and she goes, there's only dog treats over there, sir. I only see dog treats. And I'm just like standing there patiently because now he's not only looking for me, but he's also dealing with this other woman. And I'm just being there patient and just like, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. and finally he goes into the back and this woman looks at me and she's like am I crazy? I only see dog treats
Starting point is 00:47:26 and I turn and I look at the woman I'm like oh actually right there you see where that big sign says gluten free it's like right there and she goes oh and then she puts her glasses on and goes oh my God it's right there thank you so much I'm like no worries
Starting point is 00:47:42 and that's where the kindness comes in that's my patience and kindness comes in where I just was like yeah all right you seem intolerable but I'm not going to make a stink. I'm just going to point you in the right direction. And then after she got the loaf, she looked at me and goes, thank you, sir.
Starting point is 00:47:57 I got the one I'm looking for. And then she, like, walked away. I was like, have a nice day. And then finally the guy comes back. And he brought me a, uh, the wrong loaf, by the way. It wasn't the ancient grain. It was just like a wheat loaf. But at that point, I'd been there for like 10 minutes.
Starting point is 00:48:13 I was like, that's great. That's fine. That's all right. And then he's like, I'll cut it for you. I was like, oh, thank you so much. And they cut it and like, it doesn't matter to me. Ancient grain is just wheat with more crap thrown in it. So like, whatever.
Starting point is 00:48:25 I don't care. And I was like, all right, thank you. And I just walked off. I don't know if that's the millennial in me. I don't know what that is. I don't know where my patience comes from or my desire not to be like, oh, I don't want to start a thing. It's whatever. So I just took the loaf and went about my way and it'll be fine.
Starting point is 00:48:44 And next time I'll get the loaf I probably want. Like, it's not a big deal. I was like, all right, whatever. And that's, yeah, I was like, yeah, no, no, that quiz was right for sure. Yeah, I mean, I'm definitely like that as well. I'm extremely paid. In fact, I like rarely ever get impatient or like angry or frustrated. Like it takes a lot.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Like it'll happen, but it's like extremely rare. So normally I'm just like, you know what, whatever. I'd be wasting my time somewhere else right now or like, hey, it's all good. Yeah, yeah. My thought was, well, it wasn't the bread I wanted, but it's just bread. And like, it's going to taste the exact same. So what the hell do I care? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:28 So it's, uh, me, you know what? Maybe that test is on to something. Maybe, maybe, maybe this whole undertale thing is on to something. Yeah. Uh, now, I wanted to mention, uh, what, before I forget. But last week, uh, when we did our thing about you mispronouncing things. A lot of people are also saying you mispronounced near automata. Saying near automata.
Starting point is 00:49:58 Oh, yeah, no, that's a thing I've done forever. It is automata. Correct. A great example of that is in, I need, the problem is, I need someone to tell me how something's spelled or pronounced before I say it. For a long time in Final Fantasy 14, there's, there's a machinist class. I thought it was a machinist class.
Starting point is 00:50:25 I mean, I used to say instead of reagents, regents. Yeah, I mean, it just, it looks like how that would be how it said. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, you can get me. It's all good.
Starting point is 00:50:36 Yeah. It's fine. I'm well aware of my foibles. Well, it was just, it was funny because you were saying all the like, hey, I mispronounced stuff. And then you said that. And I didn't want to, like, say it because I was like, what if I'm wrong? so I was like Well no you're probably not wrong
Starting point is 00:50:51 I've always for some reason just said automata I see I don't know why Atomata It's not it kind of sounds like Atomata is the correct way of saying it for sure Yeah Because automata is a thing Automata just sounds like
Starting point is 00:51:05 I don't know Like a Spanish word I made up I was gonna say Italian Like some Latin shit Yeah Yeah automata's pizza parlor I put it up on my Marilla on the out of my pizza is a made of a fresh Android is a good.

Starting point is 00:54:06 That's code Cox 50 off at factor meals.com. Cox, 50, OFF, Factor Meals.com, see website for details. All right, that's jump to... Gotter, God, I don't know what I said. Slap my chest now. All right, well, here we are in the chopter, and the traffic is, it's pretty bad. I was thinking the other day, like, man,
Starting point is 00:54:27 the traffic's really not getting any better. I thought it'd be getting better now than I googled it, and apparently August is one of the worst traffic months. So, the more you know, I guess people are going back to school, and work and, you know, a whole bunch of stuff like that. And still some, like, you know, warm weather out. So that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:54:45 Probably when it gets colder out, a lot of the places, you get a lot of less traffic. So, you know, it all checks out up until the holidays. But, uh, yeah. Bye, dude. You know, I was looking at the weather for Chicago this coming week, and I was like, it's hot there. What is happening?
Starting point is 00:55:01 So, cool, man, looking forward to that. I mean, is it hot? Compared to here, yes. What is it there? Oh, it's always in like, I mean, right now it is 74 here. Oh, what the hell? That's what I'm saying, dude. I mean, here it's going to be, it's be like 80.
Starting point is 00:55:25 That's not even that bad. Yeah, but I don't want 80. Well, it's been like... Right now it says it's 82 where you are. And when I'm there, it's going to be 81 degrees. I'm going to say it The difference between 74 and 81 For me at least
Starting point is 00:55:41 Is a lot of sweat Well the big thing is the humidity here It's kind of like that The England Can't wait for that Yeah oh so excited It was like the other Listen a few weeks ago
Starting point is 00:55:52 It was like 90s 90s here That shit with humidity It was like a swamp It was I went outside for a bit I was like nope Going back
Starting point is 00:56:02 It was because we Normally we got a few days Where we hit a hundred We didn't even hit 100 this year. And they're like Chicago is one of the only places didn't hit 100 America. But like it was like a swamp. It was literally humid town USA.
Starting point is 00:56:17 So. I got to be honest. I'm very pleased to be in the part of L.A. I'm in. We stay roughly. I think the highest we've hit so far is 82 maybe. That's pretty good. It's nice.
Starting point is 00:56:31 Yeah. And that 82 felt like, oh. So I don't. I don't want that. I'm not I'm not ready for that. I mean, as long as it's not humid here, it'll be fine. But if it is humid, then
Starting point is 00:56:44 yeah, you'll probably be sweating. Yeah, yeah, I just like, the problem is I'd be fine, except I know my traveling companions. And they're going to be like, yo, you want to walk around the city? And I'll be like, yeah. I'm just going to, I know what's going to happen. I want to be a sweat monster. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:57:00 okay, yeah, all right, let's do it. That's true. I honestly, the funny thing is, I prefer the cold now. I used to be like, yeah, I like the hot, whatever, but like, I actually like the fall and the, the winter, but I mean, not like January, February where it's like super cold, but like, but it's like, you know, 40s, 50s. Pretty nice. Honestly, big agree. Big agree. It's a shame we'll never see that temperature again. As the world catches on fire, that's probably the last time we'll see that. But you know what? It was nice while we had it. Well, I mean, even here, it's supposed to be a warmer winter or something because of the El Nino. In like Super El Nino. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:41 It's going to, yeah, this winter's going to be wild. Apparently, L.A. is going to get a ton of rain, so this will be fun. We, uh, I mean, honestly, here it'll probably just be like 30s, 40s. So I'm like, hey, you know, whatever. Probably, you know, probably be like 40s. That's not bad. Instead of like negative 7, which we've had. So that'll be good.
Starting point is 00:58:01 in my neighbor she was getting out of her car and she was like, you here we're getting one of those super El Nino's? I was like, yeah, I heard that. She was like, I don't know what's going to happen with that. And she left, but
Starting point is 00:58:17 she called it the El Nino. So, yep. Where am I? That's the traffic. We're off the weather is where you're at. Oh yeah, we're off the weather. Here we go. Weather time. Let's see, we got some weather requests here.
Starting point is 00:58:36 We have landed on... Still going? Still going. Weather request for Wild Rose, Wisconsin. A tinal, tiny middle of nowhere town near the site of former BSA camp called Camp Napawan. You can still look up the area of the camp as it was sandwiched between Hills Lake and Lake Napalon, both southeast of town. Among other interesting facts, the camp, specifically Boot Hill, one of its campsites is the center of a ghost story. I personally either stayed on or near Booth Hill multiple times when I was a kid.
Starting point is 00:59:13 In the most basic terms, a curse was placed on the area in the 30s. And if anyone doesn't treat the land with respect, they will see a black cat with a white front paw and something bad will happen to them shortly after. I personally do not believe in this story. Very specific. Yeah. Aside from running into some poison ivy one time by the. KM site I stayed at. I've seen or I've not seen or witnessed any signs of the curse. But to be honest, I did not always treat the, or I did always treat the land with respect.
Starting point is 00:59:41 Well, there you go. That explains. Oh, well see, there you go. Yeah, you were always safe. Yeah, you weren't betting money on wildfire. Or predicting, of course, not betting. Let's see, the weather for Wild Rose, Wisconsin. I didn't know where that is and I've been to Wisconsin. Uh, oh, that's why, that's like, oh, it is out there. It's like north of Wisconsin Dells. It's actually not, I haven't been, uh, well, I've been to the Wisconsin Dells, but that's like,
Starting point is 01:00:12 uh, south of there. And then I've been to Dore County, which is in the northeast by Green Bay. So this is kind of in between the two. Yeah, but if you're thinking like, oh, you know, is it close to Green Bay? Is it close to Minneapolis or Milwaukee? No, no, it's not. No, it's like in the middle of nowhere. Um, weather, yeah, there it is.
Starting point is 01:00:33 All right, weather. Currently, it is 75, high of 81. It is 62% humidity, feels like 75, winds at 10 miles an hour, northwest, UV index 1, air quality, 38, 2.61, 29.92 inches of pressure, 10 miles of
Starting point is 01:00:58 visibility, 6 a.m. sunrise, 759 p.m. sunset, and a waxing crescent moon. Monday, partly cloudy, 82 degrees. Tuesday, mostly cloudy, 79 degrees. Wednesday, mostly sunny. 80. Thursday, mostly sunny, 83. Friday. P.m. thunderstorms 81. Saturday. Mostly sunny. 79. Sunday. partly cloudy 78 Monday partly cloudy 79 it's fascinating
Starting point is 01:01:25 wild rose when you look at the street view of the main street it looks like how you imagine middle America
Starting point is 01:01:32 where it's kind of like abandoned a little bit but then you found so I I saw the the sluggers
Starting point is 01:01:40 sports bar and grill yep let's see that from the outside I was like okay all right this looks like
Starting point is 01:01:47 it's kind of a you know when you're doing diners drivers and dives this is the dive. Right. But then you go and you look at the food and it is like pretty eff incompetent.
Starting point is 01:01:57 Yeah. This feels like an actual Midwestern tavern. But like they care. Oh, for sure. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. I'm like, okay.
Starting point is 01:02:08 It does. Yeah, like everyone in there kind of has a biker vibe. But it just looks also like, oh, damn, you're going to get an empanata there. All right. That's crazy. Or you're going to get like. Like, what is that? It sounds like a grilled chicken Caesar wrap.
Starting point is 01:02:26 Like, okay, fellas. And then also, like, directly across the street is another place. The Pioneer Pub and Grub. Oh, yeah. And that is also looking pretty competent. A little more what I expected the food to be at the bar, to be honest. Yeah, I see that. But, yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:49 It's not too bad. No. And then you got Kathy's cakes Main Street. I know Kathy. Oh, I see that now. Kathy's cakes. And that's like a sandwich place. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:02 She looks pretty good. I mean, it does look like Main Street's keeping alive. Right above there is the pump house pizzeria. That one's only got 3.4. And it does look like a 3.4 pizza place, to be honest. It does. Because, and for the record, the pizza place is very clearly a former I'm going to assume
Starting point is 01:03:23 Chinese restaurant If you look at Streetview you can definitely See that it used to be something else That's definitely I wonder if it's a gas station turned into a Chinese restaurant Turned into a pizza place Maybe Yeah I don't know
Starting point is 01:03:40 I don't know what the history of that place is But I want to say If you go all the way Look, Saxville may win because they have the ding tavern. And the ding tavern, I don't know what's going on with that.
Starting point is 01:03:57 I don't know what the vibe is. It kind of looks like it's just on a river. And the inside is everything's wood, like everything's wood. Ah, yeah. But I mess with that food. I mess with that food. That's a Midwest classic.
Starting point is 01:04:10 They have tavern style pizza. They got nachos that I would like mess with because it almost looks like a salad on those nachos. Oh, yeah, I see that. I'm kind of here for it I'm kind of here for it Dude I love I love Wisconsin
Starting point is 01:04:24 aesthetic there's a lot of good Wisconsin stuff as someone who's been there through my entire life Yeah especially if you're out in the kind of Like nowhere land Yeah I mean Being close to the Wisconsin Dells is like Well yeah it's still like a little bit
Starting point is 01:04:43 From the Dells but like the West yeah there's also wine stuff And you know like that yeah sure sure And camping like I get it Yeah. But yeah, it's kind of, it's like along the way to other things. Sure, sure. Like a town you would stop at on the way. A lot of these, oh man, what was that place called?
Starting point is 01:05:03 There's a place in Ohio that my parents every once in a while would take me. It wasn't that often, like it was one of those like, you got to earn this, Jesse. And it was, it was like a, a. like a mill. Like it was a something mill out in the middle. It was like out past Dayton more towards like yellow springs
Starting point is 01:05:27 I guess. For anyone who knows this who lived in that area and it's like an old mill and it's in the middle of a forest and they had the best pancakes in the world. But it was kind of a drive and my parents would be like
Starting point is 01:05:40 no, we're not doing that today. But I would, every once in a while after church they'd take me. And it was like such a win. It was such a win for me to go there And I do not remember the exact name of it.
Starting point is 01:05:50 It was like the something mill. That's what all these things remind me of. Your mom will probably hear this and be like, I know what it was. Yeah, what was that called? Man, it's been, yeah, it's been like 30 years. So I clearly don't remember. But, yeah, that's good stuff. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:08 I like those places. I like places that are kind of out in the middle of nowhere and they're really good at like one or two things. And sure you can get other stuff, but you're there for those one or two things. Yeah. I'd watch a Packer game there. No doubt. Uh, that's the weather. Okay.
Starting point is 01:06:24 Let's go to sports. Sports. We got sports at the sports desk. Uh, currently we've got, let's see, baseball. We got the Tampa Bay Rays in first place. We got the White Sox in first place. We got the Houston Astros in first. The Braves in first, the Brewers in first.
Starting point is 01:06:48 the Dodgers in first. But we're getting close to the baseball playoffs. We've only got a few more weeks, I believe, of the regular season. Then we also got football preseason going on. Football! Football, where a lot of people are playing preseason games. None of it really matters. But it's back, so everyone's just like, football.
Starting point is 01:07:13 In fact, the shitty Hall of Fame game got like 7 million viewers. or something, even though it's like the backups of the backups we're playing, but people are just like, do footballs. So yeah. And then a lot of the other sports are going to be starting up pretty soon as well. In like a month, honestly, October,
Starting point is 01:07:35 September, October is like when every sport is like going full blast and it's great. All of all the major ones here. You got football, baseball, basketball, hockey all at once. So it's always pretty good. Yeah. I'll see, the WMBA. Dude, I, oh, hit us.
Starting point is 01:07:52 You know what? I'm into the WMBA now. We got Minnesota links in first. The Golden State Valkyries in second, the Las Vegas Aces, third, and the Indiana fever fourth. Okay. All right. Yes.
Starting point is 01:08:05 All right. I need to, like, see more video online of them playing because they're not really playing. They're just actively hurting each other. And frankly, I don't, it's as close as I'm going to get to, like, robot sports leagues. It seems so mean-spirited. All the video, doesn't matter what team, what player, they are like pushing each other around. I'm like, damn, that's ridiculous. It's got some old-school NBA vibes. It really does. Honestly, I don't know, I don't know what's going on over there, but I'm here for it. Dude, so for the Olympics, right? In L.A.,
Starting point is 01:08:43 they finally sent out, hey, go buy ticket codes, right? So I got this thing that was like, Hey, for the next 48 hours, you can log into this website with your code and buy tickets for the LA 28 Olympic Games. And I'm like, wow, okay, cool. So I go there and they list off all of the things you can buy, like nine pages of things to buy tickets for. And I was thinking, oh, as an L.A. resident, surely this will be affordable. My dude, anything that was of interest, not like, if you wanted to go see, you know, the, uh, men's competitive ping pong or whatever. It was like, you know, that was pretty cheap.
Starting point is 01:09:25 But if you want to go see anything of interest to the public, $700, $800. Oh my God. And I was like, no, I don't. You want me to pay to go to this thing and then be in the sun all day for $700. I was like, no, I'm all right. My only hope to see any of the Olympics in person is if they pick me to be a, uh, like a helper. I signed up to be a volunteer
Starting point is 01:09:52 and I was like, yeah, I'll volunteer for the Olympics. Other than that, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna give you a damn cent. Like, that's crazy. And that's for one. And they were like, you can only buy a limit of 12 tickets over the course of the entire events.
Starting point is 01:10:07 And I was like, so you're saying that I get, I get to spend 12 times 700, you know, like, that's crazy. That is crazy. I would, Absolutely not do that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:21 I thought it was going to be, I mean, I figured it would be affordable. Like, why offer the ability to buy a bunch of tickets and then sell it for, they were so expensive. And what's crazy I should have realized, because when I got the package, like earlier, they sent us buy packages, where you could buy packages and boxes to various Olympic events. And those were like, for four seats, like, get the exclusive package and you get a tote bag and these other things and you can like bring wine and it seemed very we're catering to like the filthy rich those were like several thousand dollars for one event yeah that's crazy i mean there's probably plenty of people in la that are just like oh that's a fun afternoon we'll pay for all of them oh for
Starting point is 01:11:10 sure for sure but i was like no i'd rather go volunteer because then i get a t-shirt oh and i get shoes out of it. That's, and honestly, I'm excited. If they pick me, I'm gonna, I'm gonna sport that proudly. Yeah, and then you can say you worked for the Olympics. Yeah, I'm like, all right, that seems way cooler than just paying them to go watch one event. Yeah. So, and plus, you don't even know how it's gonna play out. If it's gonna be like all day, it's gonna be boring or like, what? Yeah, they were like, how many days could you volunteer if you wanted to volunteer?
Starting point is 01:11:42 It's like, how many days you've got, baby, I'll do it. What do you, what do you need me for? I'll volunteer and like, what skills do you have? And I'm like, I literally have run a YouTube channel for 16 years. You want me? You want to throw me in the like, they're like, because we may need people who can do technical stuff. And I was like, yeah, I got you. What you want? Like, I'm fine.
Starting point is 01:12:01 I was like, you want to put me at the entrance to a place and be like, bathroomers over there? I'll do that too. I don't care. Huh. That's, I mean, really what it boils down to is you'll do anything for those Olympic shoes. and merchandise. Yes. Now that I know
Starting point is 01:12:19 there's shoes and shirts involved, I will do what do you want? What do you need me to do? Olympic shoes? I don't care if they're like fall apart three weeks later.
Starting point is 01:12:26 I'm taking those shoes. You got those Olympic shoes. And there you go. That's the weather. No, that's sports. I don't know where I am. That's the sport. All right.
Starting point is 01:12:41 Well, what's our fact of the day? Fact of the day. We've got the... Wait, what? Scotland's national animal is the unicorn? I did know that. I think it's on the, like,
Starting point is 01:13:05 like heraldry or shields or something. Yeah. Oh. Well, then we already know that fact. Hold on. Oh, here we go. First time tourists to Paris can be so disappointed they get sick.
Starting point is 01:13:24 Uh, why? What makes them sick? Well, it says, Get a load of this strange odd fact. When visiting Paris for the first time fails to live up to someone's high expectations, it can bring on something called the Paris Syndrome. A real psychological condition,
Starting point is 01:13:40 Paris Syndrome can cause symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, increased heart rate dizziness. Interestingly enough, it appears to affect Japanese tourists in greater numbers. Reasons for the disillusionment may be culture shock and clashes and the way Japanese pop culture portrays
Starting point is 01:13:56 Paris as a picture of perfection according to the independent. Uh, man, I, while I do understand being disappointed in something, and I have heard a lot of people say Paris is not what you think it is. Like, you've been sold. You know, when people
Starting point is 01:14:14 come to America and they're like, oh my God, it's just like what the movie showed. Right. Paris is definitely sold as like a perfect, wonderful. place for lovers. It's just a city. It's another, it's another dirty ass city like every major city in the world. I remember we were driving
Starting point is 01:14:30 back from Coxcon in the taxi going to the England airport or Heathrow or whatever. The driver was like have you been to Paris and we were like no and he's like, don't it smells. I always remember that. He said it smells.
Starting point is 01:14:49 Although he was also like in English person, so they obviously hate France. Yeah, I just, I always, you know, I don't, I, I get it, I get being disappointed. I've been disappointed plenty of times. I don't get being disappointed to the point where you become sick.
Starting point is 01:15:10 Yeah, that's almost like an obsessive. That seems a little too much for me. Yeah, like, hey man, not everything's going to live up to what it is, so instead, chill out and enjoy what you got. It's Paris. Find something to enjoy. enjoy. That's uh, that's gotta be like some thing that people envision. It's probably like when people are like, I'm gonna get a cat and we're gonna, or a dog or whatever animal and it's gonna be great.
Starting point is 01:15:32 And then they're like shitting and pissing on everything. They're like biting you and like scratching stuff. They're just like, I didn't expect this. And it's like, well, it's an animal. Right. It's like people kind of romanticize a lot of thing. I think they do. I think a lot of couples, that's that, that's that, going back to tropes, the trope of a couple having a hard time than they have a baby because they think it's going to like fix their life and the baby just makes it way more stressful. Right. Like what did you think was going to happen?
Starting point is 01:15:58 That's a child. Or a lot of times even just relationships in general. Like people get together and they're just like this is going to be like a hallmark movie type of thing and then they like they spend a few years together. They move in together. And then it's like, oh, this is not what I expected. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:16 Yeah. And that's the thing is is then taking that and being like, But I'm a mature adult so I can handle this. Yeah. Honestly, we don't have a lot of mature adults. I'm starting to think that's the case, dude. I'm like, what the hell? But like back to the, I mean, it's like probably an escapism thing too
Starting point is 01:16:39 where you're like, man, if I could just go to Paris, it'd be great. And like they play it up, be this thing. And then you get there and it's just like not. It's just like people yelling and it smells like ass. And you're just probably, then you probably. It's probably having like a nervous breakdown or something because of your world is shattered. I imagine it's when people, the same people who go to Japan and are like thinking it's going to be one way, but it's just a city. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:05 And it's like they're clean and it's cool that they got stuff that they have. But it's like, you know, there's still everyone there's overworked and like drinking and like passing out in the street and on trains because they're overworked and drunk and stuff. The amount of, if you don't speak Japanese, we don't want you here is huge as well. Yeah. Like, there's plenty of places where there'll be signs that are like, if you can read this, you're not welcome. Yeah. It's like in English. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:17:31 Like, or it's like the guys that go there like, I'm going to meet a Japanese woman because they're like American men or whatever. And then it's like they realize like, oh, never mind. It doesn't work that way. Yeah, yeah. I mean, like, everyone can have a disillusion version of what they think a place is going to be. and it's up to you to have reasonable expectations. Who said that? Someone said the whole thing of like if you're depressed
Starting point is 01:17:55 and you go to Italy trying to like find it. You're just going to be on vacation and depressed. Yeah. That is true. I don't know who said it, but. Yeah, someone, someone said it. It's been to my head recently because I think about it all the time.
Starting point is 01:18:12 Like, yeah. If you're going to, if you go somewhere and you're looking for it to make you a better person, it's like not going to happen. Yeah. I think I have the opposite problem. I view everything in an extremely negative realistic light. Or I'm just like, you're like, man, we could travel to the great wall like in the Carl Pilkington.
Starting point is 01:18:34 I'd be like, yeah, it's all right. I don't know. That's, that's, that's. See? That's how I do a lot of it. I think it's because your version of experience and my version of experience are differently defined. That's true. yes. But I think your version of experience is like you're very much the journey, not the
Starting point is 01:18:55 destination. You're like, I'm going to go there and I'm going to see people and do things and do all this stuff and like experience their culture and walk around and everything. But in my head, I'm just like, I'm going to go there. I'm going to be tired. Be jet lagged. I'm going to go out and be like, yeah, you know, it's all right. But like I could have just seen this on TV. or something in like 4K and I'd be fine. But it's like I'd rather just stay home. I get it.
Starting point is 01:19:24 Yeah. Sometimes I feel that way. But the difference is I think that when I feel that way and then I still go through with it when I get to the other side, I'm like, I'm glad I did that. That's true. I mean, looking back at all the things I did with traveling, going all over with like England and going to conventions and everything,
Starting point is 01:19:44 I'm like, I'm glad I did those things. But still, I'm just like, I'd rather to stay home. Maybe I just like staying home. I'm not even like, I'm not talking about traveling the world. I'm talking about like, Jesse, you got invited to a party. It's across town. I'm like, ugh. And then I'll go and be like, well, I'm glad I did that.
Starting point is 01:20:04 That's true. I guess it all just depends. But there you go. That's your fact of the day. All right, who has come to us with tears in their eyes? We've got tears. Let's see we got. Still going.
Starting point is 01:20:26 Oh, dear illustrious sirs, they come with tears in my eyes and an answer on my lips. But a first question for an answer. Oh, first, a question for an answer. If you could train a robot anything, what would it be? Example, in Terminator 2 and John thought the T-800 to be a bit more human, adding minus AI to the end of any chromium search removes AI as top result. Oh, okay. They just added that out of the way.
Starting point is 01:20:53 I love that. I love that. That's a good tip. If I could teach a robot anything, I'd probably teach a robot. You know, speaking of tropes, my first thought in my head was how to love. But I know that's insane. I don't know why that was in my head. No, if I were to teach a.
Starting point is 01:21:14 robot anything. I'd probably, I feel like John Connor was on to something. I'd probably teach a robot how to how to have empathy. That's, because I don't think a robot knows empathy or would understand it. Well, and I think it'd be fun to try and teach it. Well, how would you teach it if it can't understand it? That's what I'm saying. I think that would be the challenge. That'd be fun. Like, that's one of the things I liked about teaching is trying to get through to someone who clearly didn't get it and then watching them understand. So being able to teach a robot who doesn't understand. the concept of like, put yourself in someone else's shoes, I think would be fascinating. I would like that.
Starting point is 01:21:51 I like how much different our brains went. Because in my head, I was like, dude, I'd teach a robot how to do like home repairs. Then I didn't have to hire anywhere. That was like, that'd be awesome. In my mind, I assumed the robot would already know. Yeah, but I would want to make sure before he's like doing actual repairs and stuff. Well, I guess, I mean, that's, that is the difference between us. You would want to 100% make sure that robot knew what it was doing.
Starting point is 01:22:20 Yeah, and then if it did, be like, dude, this is awesome. It's like, be like, like, robot, start your repairs. And then it'd be like, okay. And then, you know, he'd finish and be like, good. And then you'd always have a handyman. Also, I think it's because you have a home and I don't. That's also probable, yeah. Yeah, I don't have, I already have, I call a guy,
Starting point is 01:22:40 which is, it's a robot picks up and asks me what I do. need. I leave a message and then a guy shows up and does a thing. So I already have that. Yeah, you already got the robot. I answer. Yeah, I have I have the apartment that it's basically robotic at this point. Yeah. Cool. All right. Next up.
Starting point is 01:23:00 Dear illustrious sirs, I come to you with tears of tears of vengeance in my eyes and villainy in my soul to ask. Whoa. If you had to be the henchman and or sidekick of any series antagonist, who would you choose to serve your loyalty to? If a full benefits package was included, would it influence your decision?
Starting point is 01:23:19 This is easy. You and I already serve Hades. That's absolutely true, yes. And we have, we have, we have for years. Yeah, no, it would be Disney's Hades. Absolutely, yeah, Disney Hades and we have served him for quite some time. Yeah, easy, easy, very easy answer. Yeah, no, we would do that.
Starting point is 01:23:38 We even, we fit the personalities. We fit though the goofiness of them. Like it's practically one for one. I'm surprised there isn't more fan art of it, to be honest. There should be. So there we go. That's your dear illustrious sirs. All right, what is our big news story of the day?
Starting point is 01:24:04 Big news story of the day, day, day. I'm a little sad. my KFC, Bear burst into Kentucky Woman's home and steals her dinner. That's not where I thought that quote was going to take us at all. I'm a little sad over my KFC is not where I thought we'd be when we get to bear. But okay, all right. A Kentucky woman woke up to a broken table on a missing dinner early Thursday morning after a bear broke into her home likely lured by her leftover fast food.
Starting point is 01:24:40 Hendra North was asleep when the animal entered her house, but her sister, who lives next door, witnessed the bear leaving the premises around 5 a.m. My sister started calling me like 5 in the morning, and I declined her twice, and she kept calling. Upon answering, North learned what had occurred. I answered the call, and she was like, bro, there's a bear, and it just walked out of your house,
Starting point is 01:25:02 and it came down your steps. It came and looked at me dead in the eyes on my side of the yard. The forest of the bear's entry. said, do you want to hear this chicken? And then it walked away. The force of the bear's entry broke a heavy piece of furniture inside the home. My table is really thick glass and it's completely shattered, she said. Actually, heard the table shatter from inside her house and she thought that it was a car wreck outside. North said she suspected the bear was drawn inside by the food left out in the open.
Starting point is 01:25:34 I'm a little sad over my KFC, she said. Not the damage, not anything else. that KFC, she was looking forward to it. Yeah, not like that, leftovers. Leftover, KFCs. Well, you know, it's costing more and more every day, so I get it. You got to get all the you can out of it. Wildlife officials advise residents to take precautions to prevent wild animals from approaching homes in search of food.
Starting point is 01:25:59 John Haas, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Bear Program coordinator, noted that outdoor food sources are a primary driver of these interactions. If you store pet food or if you'll feed your dogs outside, side, just think about that. Has told Fox 56. Make sure you're not leaving out any on the porch or, you know, whatever else. Keep the bear from coming right in and getting that easy meal. Past added that residents should evaluate other potential attractance if the bears are reported in the area. You got reports right there close to the house.
Starting point is 01:26:29 Just think about where your garbage is. North said the incident prompted her to change her routine moving forward. Definitely don't leave your leftover KFC on the kitchen table and make sure the door is shut very well. That's solid advice, to be honest. Somebody in the comments section said, many years since I wasted my money at KFC
Starting point is 01:26:50 got a chicken leg about the size of my finger, unless it was a chicken finger disguised as a leg. That's a great response to that article. I don't know that guy actually read the article. Yeah, that's the person where they hear something and they're like, I need
Starting point is 01:27:10 tell my own story about just something completely unrelated. How do I make this about me? Yeah. Yeah. Like they just hear KFC and they're like, I'm gonna tell you about my experience. It's like, this is not what the thing's about. But like, what if, what if you heard what I had to say? Yeah, that's a lot of people to be honest.
