I'm so glad you're back with me this week. Okay. So this is an exciting week for me. I'm going to give you a reason why. It's not quite my birthday yet, but my birthday is August 14th. So by the time you hear the next episode, the following week, it'll be just after my birthday. So I'm sitting here thinking, I was thinking about what I was going to talk to you about today. And I thought about, oh my gosh, I have to reflect on my 48th year,

right? To wrap it up. Stick a fork in it. It's about done. And I have to tell you, it's funny, because I guess if people would look at the last, you know, decade of my life, they'd think the big year was the year I got fired for sure. You know, that definitely was. Or the year I gave my TEDx talk or launched my podcast or wrote one of my books or, you know, some of these, I guess, more tangible moments. But what's weird is I didn't write a new book this year. I didn't give a new TEDx talk. But this has been, without a doubt, one of the best years of my life, it's so wild.

And it's changed me so much as a person. I'm super proud of this year. Okay, I'm going to break it down for you. I'm going to do the best job I can to give you some insight into why that is and how I think it's setting me up for a massive success and how you can do the same. One year ago, today, right now, I was still living in my old condo that I had been in for 17 years.

And there's something to be said for staying in the same environment, location, place, routine for a long time. You know, after a while, you stop seeing possibility, you stop seeing opportunity in some way, right? So, and I'm not saying that's for everyone, but I'm just saying for me, making that leap and moving,

game changing in the best way possible. And by the way, I was super scared because I moved to a totally different place. I've never lived in in my MA, totally different people. And I was freaking out. And at first I was driving back all the time to where I used to live and shopping at my old grocery store. You know, like I want, I'm like a creature of habit.

I wanted to get back into that old routine cut to. I'm so happy where I live now. I love it. And it taught me this great lesson, which is just because you've been one place for a long time and you love it, doesn't mean there's another place right around the corner you could love even more. Right, like you have to rip that band-aid off and just give it a shot. And sometimes changing your environment and location can make a big perspective shift. And so I'm going to tell you some of the different ways that it worked for me.

Okay. So, one year ago today, I was in my old place. I had been there for 17 years. I kept getting offers on my condo and they kept falling apart. The market started changing. It was just really tumultuous moment where I had to drop the price on my condo. It was just, did not go ideally. However, I loved my realtor. I trusted him. We became such good friends. And in the end we sold. And then all of a sudden once we sold, I had nowhere to go.

The market was super hot, but it was starting to cool off. But there were so many people moving at the time. School was starting, right? It was a super stressful time. The place I wanted to move into, because I wanted to rent for at least a year just to see what area I liked, disappeared overnight. It was gone, someone got it before I got there.

I was so bummed out and I just kept praying to God, God, please land me in the right place. And it was so funny after a number of trying to get deals done and trying to, you know, rush around and see places and panic before Dylan started school. Randomly, my Realtor took me to three places one day. I was in the worst mood because no one was negotiating our prize. I was just so discouraged and we walked into where I live right now. And I love, love where I live, didn't know what existed.

By the way, never knew this place existed. So I just pray to God, God, please bring me to the place that I'm meant to be. In the minute I walked in to where I live now, I knew, I knew, I just knew. So I've been so happy here. My son has been so happy, our neighbors are incredible, they go to school with my son,

they drive my son to school, like we have been so blessed, and I'm so, so grateful for that. Okay, and I never knew that was gonna happen, right? It was super tumultuous. Okay, so that was one year ago right now, we end up getting the greatest place, as I mentioned, I'm moving in, didn't know this was gonna happen, and I start getting the greatest place. As I mentioned, I'm moving in. Didn't know this was going to happen.

And I start getting messages from Dr. Phil's team. They want me on the show immediately. Amazing blessing. Such a great opportunity to expand my reach, reach more people with my message, build my community, meet Dr. Phil. And I'm like, what am I going to do? How am I moving into my new place? I need help, I don't have any help.

And wouldn't you know, when my girlfriend Samantha called me and said, I'm coming right over, I'm gonna help you, I'm gonna fix this thing and get you on a plane to LA and don't worry, and she did. So I never knew any of these things were gonna happen. Once LA had the most incredible trip, the Dr. Phil show went amazing, was so grateful for all of it. It was so unexpected,

so positive, and so grateful for my friends. I get home, my podcast takes off. The one you're listening to right now, we were top five on entrepreneur chart, top 20 or top 15 on the business chart on Apple Podcasts, still are today. So this whole year, the podcast has been killing it. Didn't know that was going to happen. You know, I launched this show in 2019, but here we are, 2023 is when it really blew up. In-person speaking engagement started picking up again. I even was getting booked for speaking engagements in Miami on-site,

which was incredible. I had some amazing events in the last year in person, which is so my jam. It's amazing. I just got back from Charlotte, North Carolina, thousands of people. It was incredible. I'm booked for so many more speaking engagements this year, and I landed one of my clients Verizon who I'd never worked with before, found me online on LinkedIn during the last year, and we worked together all of the time now. Had no idea that was gonna happen, right? So open your mind to possibility.

Things don't just have to be one way. They've been so incredibly different for me in the last 12 months, it's incredible. Okay, I fell in love, didn't work out. But the good news is, I didn't know that was gonna happen either. And it just opened my mind to this idea that, just because you think you've met everybody in the world

that you know, or that's gonna be a huge part of your life or impact you in such a profound way, you haven't. I promise you you haven't because I hadn't and I'm sure that I still haven't, right? So it's just this idea of possibility and we have no idea what lies ahead and being open to meeting new people, new experiences, going new places, instead of being stuck in routine or in a rut. Which, gosh, please, if you are stuck in a rut, stuck in some kind of routine, no more, end it now.

And this is why I'm sharing the story about the last 12 months for you, because I want you to know this is all possible for you. Okay, then one of my dearest friends in the world decided to move to Miami, along with like 500,000 other people, but I never knew she would have left New York and now she lives right down the street for me.

I get to see her all the time. It's incredible. My best friends from New England came down to visit me. I don't even know, six times, it's insane. I mean, they came down so much this year. It was so fun. More than ever, we went to my favorite place, the breakers so many times this year, it was incredible.

Can't tell you how many people have just come to Miami that I would have, my good friend Tim's story's been down here like three or four times this year. So many people that, the Gordon's came down, right? Like there's all these amazing people in my life now that I never knew were gonna be coming to Miami that are now coming to Miami. And who knew that any of that was going to happen? I certainly didn't. I had an awful fall and really hurt my eye. Blessing, it's healed. Right? And so again, I just want

you to know it's not all rainbows and butterflies. There's definitely been some challenging moments in the last year. And I actually was for the first time ever in my life, I had to cancel a speaking engagement. I had a speaking engagement in Mexico. And I fell half of my face was black. I was still going to go, but then my son ended up in the ER with an injury in basketball. And I had to call and cancel. And it was such an awful, awful moment, but turned out to be a beautiful moment because I found four different people to take the job for me. I called the client with all of the options and they were so sweet and so appreciative.

So again, different new experiences happening, not all great, but definitely trying to make the best of all of them. Okay, my son's relationship with God has intensified so much. And in the last year, I will tell you, I never knew looking at this 16-year-old young man. He truly is a man of God. He is such an incredible person.

And I've been begging God to help please bring me someone into my life that can understand. This guy is so far ahead of me and I don't know how to lead him in his relationship with God. And wouldn't you know a person showed up in my life who is so similar to my son, younger guy that has an incredible relationship with God, spending time with my son out of the kindness of his heart, and it's just been amazing. So I'm so grateful, I'm so thankful for all these miracles and blessings that have occurred that I would have never known

were going to happen in the last year. My best friend was struggling all of a sudden with her health and cancer that came out of left field. And that was one of the scariest things that I've ever gone through. And I'll tell you what a blessing yet again, blessing. I'm so blessed I was able to be there for her. I'm so blessed she reached out and trusted in me. I'm just, I'm so grateful for my friendships.

And she beat it and is doing amazing. I'm just, I'm so grateful for my friendships and she beat it and is doing amazing and we just went on vacation together and our families love each other so much and we're just, they are my family and it's just intensified that gratitude that I have for these long-lasting friendships and for our health and just what really matters in life. It's been a great perspective shift. And then at the same time that was happening with her, my other dear friend, her husband had a battle with cancer. He beat it too, thankfully, thank God.

It's just been a couple of major health scares this year and all ends it up well. So don't lose faith, pray, prayer works, and believe, and reach out to the people you love, and support them, and recognize what really counts. It's those relationships and those people and those moments and that gift that you can be there to support people you love. It's such an incredible blessing. So I can't even, I mean, I'm going to drive you crazy today because there's so much that I want to talk about in the last year. Okay, so then so many people I didn't even know a year ago

are now a big part of my life. So a good friend of mine invited me to a John Maxwell private event for speakers and emerging leaders as he's looking to advance leaders to the next level that he believes are up and coming. I get invited to this, which I didn't know John Maxwell. I had no idea what I was walking into. I think this was January of this year. I went to the most incredible private event. There was 20 of us with John Maxwell. In Orlando, it was incredible.

The men that were there were all men of God, talking about how important their marriages were, how to be better. Husbands, better humans. Literally, there was not a dry eye in the house. I just met new dear friends of mine that are so important in my life now.

Cut to, I had the most incredible event. John ends up coming on my podcast, which I'm sure you heard him on. He was just on a couple of weeks ago, which I didn't even know John Maxwell, you know, six months ago, and then I was asked to join the steering committee for him and Maxwell leadership team and help to, you know, guide this next event. So I'm leaving in the next couple of days to go back to Orlando with John Maxwell

with my friends that are now so important to me. And now we're bringing along these next level leaders that are coming to Orlando with us and getting the chance to pay it forward. And it's just, what an incredible, I didn't know any of this was gonna happen year ago, didn't know these people a year ago. And it's just, oh my gosh, things can change so fast.

No matter where you are right now, if you're discouraged, if you're saying you don't have a lot of contact, keep an open mind, pray, put yourself out there, do the next right things, serve others, show up with a positive attitude, and I promise you things can change so rapidly. Okay, so then I did a podcast swap with an amazing woman named Kelly Roach,

wouldn't you know, within a month, she's moving to Miami, sends me a note, hey, let's meet, let's have lunch. I never know, you know, if situations like this are gonna pay off or not, but I go, if I can go, I go. And so I went and we had an incredible lunch. She told me I was sleeping on a million dollar business and reawakened this business that I learned about

in 2020, Dean Graziosi was on my show. He was launching this program called KBB, which was knowledge broker business. The course was $3,000. I got the course and that guided me during the pandemic to launch my first group coaching program, which landed me my board seat, by the way.

I'd never thought about group coaching, I never thought about masterminds, any of this stuff. And it's just, it's amazing to see when you try new things, you know, leading with your heart and leading with doing good, not knowing what's gonna happen, but believing that you'll find a way to make it work, the incredible things that can happen in your life, and for others, and just in the relationships that can be created, it's incredible. So I'm so grateful to Kelly for opening my eye. Kelly's just been an incredible mentor to me

for the last few months and become a great friend, and we're doing an event in another month. There's just so many incredible things that have happened from one door opening to the next to the next and that domino effect and momentum picking up. Kelly opening my eyes to the mastermind then inspired me to launch my masterclass, which then inspired me to launch my workshop. I've now been on the board of health links since 2020. Here we are. It's three years later. We've grown. We've added other board members. One of my board members moved to Miami. It's now a personal

friend of mine. It's just been such a wild ride of unexpected blessings I could never have imagined one year ago. And now I'm thinking to myself, okay, what are you looking forward to, right? will reveal itself. And I'm gonna have faith that it's gonna work out amazing just like this did. I'm in such a different headspace today than I was one year ago. Having lived in that same place for 17 years, it had really gotten me into more of a fixed mindset and I didn't even realize it.

Now I realize it's not hard to move at all because wherever you go, that's where your joy will be. That's where your love will be. That's where you know exciting things will take place. It doesn't matter anymore. In fact, I don't miss where I used to live now. I can see it from my window and I do not miss it. Isn't that, to me, that's so bizarre. So I just feel so grateful. So for you, I want you to know this. One year can completely change your life. I'm excited for the unknown things that are gonna start showing up for you.

Start tracking them. I do that every week. I'm like, oh my gosh, I never knew this opportunity was gonna show up this week. One of my people that I worked with in radio, you know, six years ago just recommended me for a speaking engagement. And I'm gonna get to see her. And it's so cool how things can come full circle.

And you have no idea any of this stuff is happening behind the scenes. You've just got to show up as that best version of yourself. You've got to start believing things are going to work out for you. Put the work in, yes, of course. But then turn it over and step away from fear and start moving into the idea that God's got a plan for you And if you allow for it and surrender to it

Things are gonna be really really incredible. I know that for sure. I hope you know that too Okay, so my mantra for you is this I'm gonna do it messy I'm gonna do it scared and I'm gonna do it anyway because that is definitely for sure how I've launched these new businesses this year and how I'm approaching my week. I've got a board meeting. I'm going to Orlando. I've got my birthday. I've got my son working on getting his license and getting his doctor's appointments for back to school. I mean, we've got a lot going on right now. But we're going to make it happen. It might not be perfect. Certainly will not be perfect. But it's going gonna be really good. Okay, and then I'm gonna leave you with this.

As I think about the last year, as I think about the year ahead, I think about this. Saying to yourself, hey, I love you. I am proud of you. You know, from this day forward, I'm moving forward with my faith is so much bigger than my fear. I'm moving forward with the unexpected is a blessing and exciting and something I look forward to, not something I fear and the more I step into uncertainty, the more possibility they're truly is. So I don't know what 49's going to look like, but I know it's going to be good. I can tell you that much. I know it's going to be good. I know there's some huge things coming.
