Each week when you join me, we are going to chase down our goals, overcome adversity and set you up for a better tomorrow. I'm ready for my close-up. Hi and welcome back. I'm so glad you're back here with me this week. Okay, so interesting I shared with you May is just a super powerful month in my life. It's wild and oh my gosh, there were so many incredible things that happened in the last week and I will share a lot of them with you. I super powerful month in my life. It's wild and oh my gosh there were so many incredible things that happened in the last week and I will share a lot of them
Starting point is 00:00:49 with you. I can't tell you everything yet but definitely gonna let you know this month. I promise you that. Okay and I'm gonna give you some hints on some of it too. So here's the thing, stay expectant, stay excited. Like the best is yet to come. It is so so true and I want to remind you of that today by giving you a couple of examples that have occurred the last couple of years for me that when I look back on, you know, it just takes one, one deal, one door open, one person. Like everything can change in an instant. And that's why I just want you to be so looking forward to life to today, to possibility,
Starting point is 00:01:25 to miracles and being expectant for it all because you deserve it and it's all happening. Oh my gosh. It's so happening. All right. So my son's birthday was May 31st and one of the things I love to do for birthdays, I so encourage you to do this. It's super fun. I do this every year. It's just a cool game to play that really lets you reflect. So one of the things I do with my son is we go to dinner for his birthday. Of course, now that he's older, he turned 17. I said, listen, you can go out with your friends this night, but one night this week,
Starting point is 00:01:58 I do want to do your birthday dinner to play our game. And he said, no, he went out the next night with his friends and he was so cute. He went out with me on his actual birthday. Adorable. So he and I sat down and we talked about, all right, let's reflect over the last year and let's look back on what surprises and miracles occurred that you would have never known were gonna happen.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Let's look back on the goals that you set for yourself, what you were able to achieve and accomplish and feel really proud in the moment. And then let's forecast and look forward to what is it that you're looking forward to for the next year? What are those goals that you want to set and what miracles or blessings could occur, you know, right? Just to get excited about it, to feel proud about where we've been, what we've done, and then get excited about and build off that momentum for the next year. Oh my gosh, always my child is the biggest teacher in my life without a doubt. Kid is incredible. Honestly, I think that's the same way for most parents. So when he
Starting point is 00:02:55 reflected over his last year, he said, my expectations for basketball have been delivered, which is huge. He's been manifesting, going to the NBA for years, and just recently had this incredible tournament Memorial Day weekend where he crushed it did so so well and was scouted and just like amazing things happening but he's been working on this just FYI like he puts a ton of work in he works out like three hours a day trains his whole life so kind of a big deal okay he said I knew I would be here. Expectation is actualization. And I thought that was really powerful because I
Starting point is 00:03:29 didn't used to know that, right? It's so important to expect it, actualize it, visualize it and know it's happening. Like get rid of fear, worry and doubt. Just expect it to come. Not knowing how I'm being open to how it may come. He did a great job in school, which he's super proud of. He's driving, which was something he was so looking forward to that a year ago he wasn't, right? And he just said he was so grateful for how far God has taken him in his life. It was so cool. And so I let him know how proud I am of how kind he is, how he speaks truth, and how his faith has impacted him, and how committed he is to faith, and reading the Bible, and just so proud of what an incredible human he is.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Okay, now we were looking forward to 18. This is so great. And he's leveraging and using those past success for momentum to say, of course, these next things are going to occur. So he's expecting these things to happen, which I think is so cool. Improving and being open to wherever God takes me. College scholarship, basketball for life and and the excitement and anticipation of that next level that he's going to in basketball,
Starting point is 00:04:29 having fun in the summer, which I thought was so cool to include that, and he's looking forward to the whole entire year ahead. And he said, I don't know, but I have such a good vision. And so he just has this vision on his heart and in his mind about who he is becoming and all of this expectancy around greatness and Incredible life ahead and it's just you know, what I'm learning is it's about expecting
Starting point is 00:04:58 Actualizing and just the sense of knowing it's coming and again, you don't have to know all of the different ways It's going to happen. You don't have to have everything mapped out to, you know, the last detail. It's being open to how it can unfold and having patience too, because that's something that I've definitely struggled with. My son's like, it's easy to have patience when you just know what's happening. And I think that's true, right? So trusting having, and just expecting that the best is yet to become, because it really, really is.
Starting point is 00:05:34 Americans spend an average of 90 percent of their time indoors and take about 20,000 breaths a day. According to the EPA, indoor air is two to five times more polluted than outdoor air, and in some cases up to a hundred times more polluted. Data shows that air pollution is responsible for nearly 7 million premature deaths globally. I mean, this is crazy how concerning it is to hear that your air in your home is polluted. Maybe you have allergies like me and my son.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Maybe you live near a highway. Maybe you live in a city, right? Like there's so many issues with toxicity everywhere. You need to make sure that your home is a clean and safe place. And air doctors helping us with it. We have tremendous allergy issues and using air doctor is changing all that. Starting point is 00:08:30 confidence. So I was at church yesterday and our pastor, and I know I shared this with you a lot, can always check out my church online, voo.com, incredible church, incredible pastor, Rich Wilkerson Jr. So he was talking yesterday about unexpected favor and expectancy around that, right? And so just this idea that at any point in time you can receive unexpected favor. God is so good. God gives us so much grace. And it's just incredible that at any point in time
Starting point is 00:09:06 you can receive unexpected favor. Even if you've been praying for something for a long time, even if you've been hopeful for something, expecting it, in any moment everything can change. That one deal can materialize. You can ask that next right question and it unlocks that door you've been trying to get through. You can meet that person that is your person and completely changes your through. You can meet that person that is your person and completely changes your life.
Starting point is 00:09:26 You can meet that best friend that you never, you never know what that next one thing can be. So get excited about today. Get excited about what is possible because the reality is truly anything is possible. This is a bright new day, complete with 24 hours of opportunities, choices, and attitudes, a perfectly matched set of 1440 minutes.
Starting point is 00:09:51 This unique gift, this one day cannot be exchanged, replaced or refunded, handle it with care, make the most of it. There is only one per customer, my friends. So make the best of today and know that the best is yet to come. All right, so a couple of quick business examples I wanted to share with you that occurred over the last couple years of my life that I feel like kind of illustrate this idea that just takes one thing,
Starting point is 00:10:12 right? Like it's easy to get frustrated. I get frustrated all the time. I'm trying to learn from my son. I just need to be expectant and let go of the worry and the frustration, have the patience, because I know it's all coming together and I know God's plan is so much greater than mine and just allow for it, right? Trust it. So that's what my work is is really around just believe and know that it's happening. So when I look back over the last couple years, one of the two things actually stick out to me. One was my TEDx. That was like a big pivotal moment in my speaking career for sure, right? It made a huge difference in my speaking career. I didn't know how to get it done. I took out a Google alert on TEDx speakers wanted, and I applied to 100 TEDx speeches. And people forget about this. They think like I just stumble into things and like I get it the first
Starting point is 00:10:57 day. No, this was a one year process of me pitching myself over and over and over again and being told no over and over and over again. We sit here today and as you know I have a TEDx talk. I ended up getting one. I ended up that TEDx talk got promoted to TED and translated into five different languages and like I'm so proud of it and I put so much work into it but it took a year to even land it. So don't lose sight of that. It's about having that patience, not knowing which door is eventually going to open. But one eventually did. And staying on the path and not giving up. When something's on your heart and mind and you know it's meant for you, that way will
Starting point is 00:11:37 eventually be open. But you're going to have to keep swinging. You're going to have to keep knocking. You're going to have to keep trying. And eventually what the irony is, is I ended up, I was speaking at an event. A TEDx person approached me after the event and said, you're a great speaker. You should give a TEDx talk. And I said, I've applied to a hundred of them. I can't get one. And she said, show me your pitches. I work for TEDx. I can probably
Starting point is 00:11:59 help you. And so the key here is this. Take direction from people who have been where you want to go. She was able to help me give me the hacks and tips and tricks into how I could change and tweak my pitch so that it would land with the team. And she did. And we ended up landing my talk, right? So be expecting that it's going to happen, but also be persistent in your ask and a closed mouth will never get fed. You've got to ask. People don't know what you're working towards. They don't know what you're going after. So you gotta raise your hand, you gotta ask, and you might have to change that ass many times.
Starting point is 00:12:31 You might have to ask a lot of different people in a lot of different ways, but stay the course. If it's on your heart, it's there for a reason. Okay, another great example of this is my book deal with HarperCollins leadership. I had no idea how to get a book deal, right? So I was stumbling around doing everything wrong. Again, when you don't have someone who's done
Starting point is 00:12:50 what you've already done directing and guiding you, it's gonna take longer, right? You're gonna make more mistakes. I certainly did. So I had to find an agent. And I remember I had pitched my agent so many times and she just wouldn't sign me. And you have to have a book proposal, which is a whole other thing.
Starting point is 00:13:09 It's literally harder than writing the book. And so I'm writing it. I'm rewriting it. Anyways, I end up, I spent a fortune. I hired an editor, someone who had been where I wanted to go. Someone who had submitted successful business book proposals, right? So I invested in myself. I found the right person. It costs a lot of money. And we worked together for six months on this and she rejected me 14 times.
Starting point is 00:13:33 And I remember, thank God I've been in sales my entire career. I try not to get too personally attached to no, I try to immediately go pivot to, okay, how can I overcome this objection? How can I reimagine this and create a win? But I remember when I got to the 14th, no, I was so frustrated. I thought maybe she just isn't the right one for me.
Starting point is 00:13:52 So I looked at this roster of other agents and I was going to start pitching other agents. I remember. And wouldn't you know, I said I'm going to give it one more chance because I love fives. It's like one of my lucky numbers. Like art 15s. It could be a great, you know, this could be the win. And so I revised and she just kept challenging me to make it better. And I remember I revised that pitch and submitted the 15th submission. And that is the one she accepted. That is when she signed me. And that is what then so right. So after 14 no's on my 15th, I got a yes. So I signed with an agent that was
Starting point is 00:14:26 process you know number one or actually number like 10 in getting this deal and then once we had that then we had to take the book proposal that now she was representing me on and go to market and start pitching traditional publishers right so we got plenty of no's back in that arena as well and then we got plenty of yeses after so it it's about, listen, you're gonna have to withstand that some doors are gonna close. Some doors just aren't meant for us. And honestly, it's not rejection, it's redirection to something better.
Starting point is 00:14:55 When God closes one door, it's because he's gonna open that next better door for you. And the more I embrace that, and the more I accept that instead of fighting it, the more successful and the happier I am and the more quickly the right door is open, right? It's like, this is such a good example for in my mind anyway, the longer I stayed in that job
Starting point is 00:15:14 that I wasn't fulfilled in, that I knew I had a bigger purpose in calling then, I couldn't access and tap into that new life and that new job and dream that I'm living today because I was sitting in the wrong environment, in the wrong job. You can't embrace that life that you want to have if you're settling for the one you currently do have. And that's the same with relationships, right? So the longer I stayed in a relationship that wasn't serving me, it kept that right person from ever walking into my life, right? You have to close the door on the thing that is no longer serving you anymore if you want to open the door to the thing that has the potential to be your
Starting point is 00:15:49 life calling. That is fact. That is relationships. That is work. That is jobs. That is every, that's health. That's everything, right? So close the door on that, which is no longer serving you and open and unlock that door to that future life that is out there waiting for you, just like my son says. And be expectant for it because it's out there, it's possible for you, we are living it. It is so exciting and I want you to have all that you are meant for as well. So if it's on your heart, it's there for a reason.
Starting point is 00:16:20 Let's make it a priority now. Meet a different guest each week. Paying all the details. Confidence cleared. And let's make it a priority now.
