Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, it's me, Food! If I know one thing, it's freshness. Go to Randalls. You'll see, from the hand-cut fresh meats to the fresh produce. There's a reason I call Randalls home. They know fresh. Sincerely food. Sincerely Randalls. When there's a penalty on the field, referees are there to sort it out. When there's an accident on the road. Sergeant Lindros, I'm glad you're okay. That's where USAA steps in.
Starting point is 00:00:26 We help make the claims process easy, so drivers can get back on the road fast. Making the right calls, that's what we're made for. USAA. Membership eligibility and product restrictions apply in our subject to change. USAA means United Services Automobile Association and its affiliates, San Antonio, Texas. The Bacteria living in an honest is dictating so much of our overall health. We have this mindset in the world, in the US, that bacteria is bad. And bacteria is bad, but only less than 1% is actually bad.
Starting point is 00:01:00 The overwhelming majority of our bacteria is actually really beneficial. And as a human, we are 10 times more bacterial cells than we are human cells. And yet we live in this world that's so antibacterial. We're always trying to kill bacteria, but so much of our bacteria living in an honest is actually really, really beneficial. I'm honest journey with me each week when you join me, we are going to chase down our goals, overcome adversity and set you up for better tomorrow. That's your new state journey.
Starting point is 00:01:30 I'm ready for my close time. Hi, and welcome back. I'm so excited for you to meet our guest this week. Tina Anderson's journey into the world of health had a unique start and some unusual turns, which we can relate to. She began her career as a trial lawyer. It sounds awful, who specialized in settling cases by bringing bullsides together.
Starting point is 00:01:51 But that's nice. A personal passion of hers, true story. Once her second child arrived, Tina left that high-stress job behind so she could focus on her family. Luckily, she was still able to use her considerable legal skills to point her career in a new direction as the in-house counsel for a family farm-resudable company. But what Tina saw there made her change for direction again. Frustrated by the many abuses in the farm industry, Tina turned toward the field of natural health and found her life's work. She channeled her energy into learning all she could about disease prevention and good health maintenance. That led her to discover the importance of
Starting point is 00:02:30 gut health and how connected and crucial it is for overall health and wellness. To share her discovery with the world, Tina, along with her husband, created a unique supplement that contains the superior probiotic strains of renowned researcher, Dr. Simon Cutting by promoting gut health and probiotics. Tina shares her passion for wellness, helping others live their best physical and emotional lives. Tina, thank you so much for being here with us today.
Starting point is 00:02:56 Oh, well, thank you, Heather. I'm so excited to be here. Oh my gosh. All right. So first of all, I have to start with your journey because I love a good plot twist and your life is such a good plot twist. So I'm hoping you can share with us.
Starting point is 00:03:11 First of all, my sister's an attorney, my ex-Vion says an attorney, I have so many good friends and her attorneys and no one likes that flipping job. It's so stressful, but I have to imagine after, you know, it's like a sunk cospallacy moment when you spent so much time, so much money, so much schooling, what was that pivotal moment for you that said, you know, what, I've got to pull the rip cord and do something different.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Yeah. Well, I think it was just when I started having children, I'm like, this is nuts, you know, I am literally working on weekends and at night, and I'm certainly have kids, and I just said, this is too much, you know, I just wanted to have way more of a work life night. And I'm certainly have kids. And I just said, this is too much. I just wanted to have way more of a work-life balance. And I guess I never worried about leaving. I feel like the investment I made in my education is never going away. I mean, I use my legal skills every day
Starting point is 00:03:59 as being a business owner. And I used it when I went to the Family Pharmaceutical Business. But I don't ever feel like that education was taken away. And you don't have to necessarily follow the path that your degree tells you to. You could use the skills that you learned while obtaining that degree and apply it to whatever it is that you're doing. All right, guys, listen. Number one, take away already. Sheena's dropping gems for you. The best investment you'll ever make is in yourself and that investment goes with you wherever you go, whether that's a law degree or hiring an editor
Starting point is 00:04:32 so you can create your book. And to your point, what you go to school for doesn't have to dictate a one lane only. I went to school for psychology and I'm glad I went and I used that psychology teachings every day as a podcast host who would have known. So thank you for highlighting that scene. I couldn't agree with you anymore. Yeah, you bet. I love that. Okay, so how did it end up that you work with your husband? First of all, people typically say that's like the worst thing in the world to do. And I know that you've got this amazing marriage. So how did you guys end up working together? We were both in the pharmaceutical industry together. And so we were both frustrated by a lot of the abuses that we saw, like you had mentioned. And we were like, we read a lot of like
Starting point is 00:05:14 Wayne Dyer, Norman Vincent Peale, Napoleon Hill, we read all of these deep thinkers. And Wayne Dyer especially spoke to us, you know, it was like, you are not doing your life's work. You know, he was always about doing your life's work. And we were not doing it by we didn't even use pharmaceuticals hardly at all with our you know, we had three kids and we were not giving them things to fight their fever right away. We would let them fight their fever on their own unless, of course, it was dangerously high or anything like that. But, you know, we were much more naturally minded anyway. And while in the industry, we just saw that there was such a focus on treating symptoms, rather than focusing on prevention of disease or
Starting point is 00:05:51 maintenance of your health. That was never. Doctors are not trained on that. And because doctors are unfortunately trained by pharmaceuticals, I mean, pharmaceuticals are investing in a lot of medical schools. And so, you know, in funding medical schools. So therefore, that's what doctors are being taught. They're not learning much about nutrition or maintenance of how they're thinking about how to mask these symptoms. And so, I mean, doctors are wonderful human beings. And their hands are a little tied with the insurance model and all of that.
Starting point is 00:06:23 So, but anyway, we just didn't live our life that way. We, of course, I think there's a place for pharmaceuticals in emergency type medicine situations or an acute type of trauma or whatever it might be. But I'm of the opinion that we should get to the root cause. Like, why do I have allergies? Why do I have autoimmune disease? Why do I have skin rashes or eggs in my, you know, whatever it may be, you have to get to the root cause and then try to address the root cause rather than treating the symptom. You could treat the symptom while, you know, maybe temporarily, but not for the rest of your life to be on medications. And we see that people would go on one medication and then it would cause stomach issues and then another medication that
Starting point is 00:07:03 caused joint pain. And the next thing you know, we had an aunt that was on 12 different medications and never getting better and only continued to have more symptoms. So it just was not the way we wanted to, it wasn't what we wanted to do for our life's work. So we focused on like the natural health space and we looked into a lot of different options actually,
Starting point is 00:07:22 but then one day we were, you know, I'm a huge believer in like manifestations and, you know, putting it out there to the world of what you want and creating your future. And one day we got a call from my husband's natural path doctor who we had been talking about different business opportunities. And he said, you won't believe this, you guys have to come to my office, but we have the opportunity to license these incredible strains from out of London University. And that's, you know, we were like, okay, we need to start
Starting point is 00:07:50 researching. And so that is something I do have a lot of experience in law school. I learned how to research and we researched and we researched about the gut and how important it is. And we understood the flaws with many of the probiotics on the market. And then we ended up launching, we took our life savings. We have three kids, two are in high school, ones in middle school, and we put our life savings into this business. And here we are, and it was the best thing we ever did. I mean, such a smart move, because it's created so much health for our family, ourselves, and for the rest of the community at large.
Starting point is 00:08:23 And how many years later are we today from when that initial conversation happened? We are coming on 10 years. Coming on 10 years. And when did you know? It's so clear to you now because you quote, unquote, made it right. But when did you know that it was the right decision? Or did you always know? Yeah, great question. I wish I could say I always knew because I didn't always know. I've never been more scared in my life, but I've also never worked so hard. You know, I was talking about how I worked so hard
Starting point is 00:08:51 as an attorney and it was crazy. I mean, this was way worse, you know, than on hours. And then of course, I'm a mom of three kids and I'm running from game to game. But when did I know? I mean, I think it was probably, there was one customer who had a debilitating issue
Starting point is 00:09:06 going on. And for FDA purposes, I can't say what the disease was, but he had some issue going on that was really bad. And he's, he called me and said, I have been on every pharmaceutical, I have been on every over the counter. And nothing has helped me. Like your product has helped me. And I'm like, we are, I mean, I have goosebumps telling you the story right now. And it's like, I'm like, we are on the right path. And, and I knew, you know, when you saw, when we saw what it did for people, we had another customer, I still save the voice mail on my phone, a customer whose son is on the autism spectrum
Starting point is 00:09:36 and just saw incredible improvements. I'm not suggesting that he is not no longer on the spectrum, but starting people, kids with autism have a lot of gut dysbiosis. They have a lot of gut imbalance going on. They don't sleep well. And so all of a sudden, all the, he started going to the bathroom regularly for the first time.
Starting point is 00:09:53 He just, he started like, be more verbal. You know, when you start getting these toxins out of your body by going to the bathroom regularly and having a healthy gut, all these wonderful things start to happen. And so I knew when we started impacting lives, like really impacting lives, we were on the right path. And it was a slow journey for us, you know, a lot of you talk about entrepreneurs who
Starting point is 00:10:13 start and they're like, Oh, I made two million the first year and I made five million the next year. You know, that was not our journey. ours was much, much slower. But then when we start to figure out the whole marketing, we didn't really know much about marketing. We start to figure that out. Then we start to see us explode and be all over the place. And that was exciting. It's so exciting to hear the story now. For a couple of reasons, one, because I love that you had this career that you had created,
Starting point is 00:10:42 and you were willing to leap and say, I want wanna find my life's work, my life's purpose. Like you said, because you were listening to the Wayne's I, and again, that didn't happen overnight. That was a process that you were accessing information that was leading you somewhere that you were meant to go, but you didn't know where it was. Then an opportunity presents itself, which is sort of like alignment and the universe showing up,
Starting point is 00:11:03 you know, supporting all these ideas and manifestations you've been putting out there. But still, you have to take the risk and still take the leap. It's not so often people think everything's just handed to someone when they see it on the outside. But I appreciate your candor
Starting point is 00:11:17 and that it was scary. And then the moments you know you really made it is when you made a difference in somebody's life. And I couldn't agree with you more when you get a note like that. I've never had a note about around someone's health, of course, but I get notes around. I left the job or I left the relationship because I mean, and you get those beautiful messages and you say, I don't know, but I just know this is it. Like, I don't know what's going to happen next.
Starting point is 00:11:39 I don't know how I'm going to make it through these tough times. But when you hear those messages, it doesn't make it so worthwhile. Oh my God, it makes it so worthwhile. And it's funny, you had mentioned about asking me about my husband and how we worked together. And we really work together beautifully. And it's funny because I was just talking to my daughter about this the other day.
Starting point is 00:11:57 And it's like, this is another one of our babies. We have such a vested interest in our three kids and we're so involved in them. And they are such a huge part of our lives and but and like our business is kind of it's very different obviously, but we both care so deeply about it. So it's kind of funny if I have to get up from dinner, I'm like, oh, Billy, you know, the supplier's calling us and if you don't mind, I'm going to get up. Whereas like if he was not in my same, we weren't in business together. He'd be like, Tina, forgot forgot to say, since dinner,
Starting point is 00:12:26 but he understands because we're kind of, we're on that same path, we're rowing the same boat, we're rowing in the same direction. So I don't know, but it has worked out really well for us and I'm just blessed in that respect. Oh my gosh, guys, if you have not figured out your life's work, start asking yourself a question, start thinking about, get intentional about

NetSuite.com slash monahan to get the visibility and control you need to weather any storm. Netsuite.com slash monahan. Tina, here's what's interesting to me. I have no clue about gut health. I don't, as I was telling you before, I don't even talk to people about, you know, it's uncomfortable oftentimes to say like, oh, do you go to the bathroom regularly? In our society, people don't really talk like that, right?
Starting point is 00:15:44 So my son, I have a 15 year old son, and when he was very young and he was getting potty trained, I remember he wouldn't go poo in the potty, right? And it was a big problem, and I'm talking like, because this is taking me back to this moment in time. And so I had to take him to the doctor, and the doctor said, okay, this is mental. And so you need to reward him with toys if he goes to the bathroom in And the doctor said, okay, this is mental. And so you need to reward him
Starting point is 00:16:06 with toys if he goes to the bathroom in the potty. And so I was basically buying out target. It was so ridiculous. And the kid was in pain. I mean, it was very painful. So I thought this is like a medical issue cut to now that I look back on it, I believe it was stress-related, 100% for sure, because I looked at him a ball as a young child growing into a teen and whatnot, and now he's very confident, he's very secure himself, he has no issues going to the bathroom anymore, and there was never, really wasn't fixed by giving toys,
Starting point is 00:16:40 it still was painful for him, something still wasn't wrong, but nobody was able to help us figure it out. And then when I learn about your probiotic and that you allowed children over eight years old to take it, can you talk us through what happens just to a kid like that? Why are things like that happening? Yeah, well, that is because there's a big connection between your gut and your brain. You know, and we, there's something called the vagus nerve. And there's something that we also your gut and your brain. And there's something called the vagus nerve,
Starting point is 00:17:05 and there's something that we also call the gut brain access. And so the vagus nerve is sending signals back and forth to each other. So the brain is sending signals down to the gut, and the gut is sending signals up to the brain. So that's why it's, when you hear people that say they have butterflies in their stomachs, we've all experienced having butterflies
Starting point is 00:17:25 in our stomach. And that is an example of when your brain is sending signals down to your gut, or you feel you're nervous about something and all of a sudden you have to go to the bathroom. Or vice versa, like if your gut is really imbalanced and it's not super healthy, you start to have more anxiety, more depression, more mood issues. And all of those, there's a huge connection between that gut brain access. And people oftentimes think of their gut as only being associated with gas and bloating and diarrhea and constipation. And yes, those are all times that you would, you know, if you have gas or bloating, gut diarrhea, constipation, those are certainly signs of a gut imbalance. But people aren't
Starting point is 00:18:05 thinking like, oh, anxiety, your depression or memory or cognitive function as having a relationship to your gut, well, it absolutely does. You know, 90% of our serotonin, which is our happy hormone, is actually produced in our gut. Dopamine is produced in our gut. Gabba, which is the calming hormone is produced in our gut. So with your son, I mean, he probably was having, he probably was, I don't know, had some kind of issue of why not wanting to go to the bathroom. Well, then he's not going to the bathroom. And it made it worse because now his gut is getting unhealthy every day by not, you
Starting point is 00:18:37 know, getting rid of all those toxins. And so the gut is sending more signals back up to the brain. And, you know, it manifests itself differently in everybody, but that was the way it manifested in your son. And so there is an absolute scientifically proven connection between your gut and your brain. And we should never discount that. And I was never aware of this. So thank you for educating me on this.
Starting point is 00:18:58 I truly had no idea. And you know, it's funny. For years, I traveled excessively for work. I mean, every single week, sometimes multiple times a week. And I couldn't go to the bathroom when I was in hotels. I don't know why. And I mean, part of it was I was going so fast and there was so much stress and anxiety around my routine and schedule when I would be on the road that I
Starting point is 00:19:18 literally would go days without going to the bathroom until I would come home. What is that doing to somebody's body if they can relate to what I'm explaining right now? Well, I think, first of all, everybody could relate to that. I mean, I hear that all the time. I have so many people that I know that just have so much difficulty, you know, going to the bathroom regularly when they're traveling. And, you know, it's just that upset of your routine, you know, it's, you're not outside
Starting point is 00:19:42 of your comfort zone. And it's back to that gut brain connection. So, but we see that all the time. Plus, you're eating different foods, you're probably not eating as healthy. And you think to yourself, oh, it's no big deal. I was just eating, I just ate a healthy food meal yesterday. Now, one day is going to do that. It could, I mean, that disruption could really have that big of an impact on, you know, mentally, you can't go to the bathroom now. And you are literally not alone. I hear this all the time. And people don't talk about it. Like you said, they're not talking about it. But yeah, people have a lot of trouble.
Starting point is 00:20:11 We've even thought about doing like a travel size in airports because we hear this so often. You know, and that would be- Absolutely. You mean to do that? I know. I mean, it really does make a lot of sense. Yeah. Can we please task you with that? Because I will definitely be one of people picking it up. So please make that happen. Let's put that out there. All right. So if not going in the bathroom for a couple of days at a time, it's not the solution. What is a healthy gut actually look like? Are you supposed to go to the bathroom once a day? How is it supposed to work?
Starting point is 00:20:40 It's not like, oh my gosh, you have to go once or twice a day, but you should be going at least once a day. And it's not just how the frequency, it's not like, oh my gosh, you have to go once or twice a day, but you should be going at least once a day. And it's not just how the frequency, it's also like, how does it come out? Is it easy for you? Is it loose? Is it hard? You know, it needs to be, you know, you don't want it loose, you don't want it hard. You don't want it to be difficult for you to have to go to the bathroom. So it's also just like the way you feel. I always was regular. I never had digestive issues. And I started taking the the product and I'm like, oh my gosh, now I know what
Starting point is 00:21:09 regular is. It's like, it's a feeling. You just feel so like my mom and I talk about this all the time. It's so funny. We'll be like, you just feel so cleaned out. You know, and that's the best way to describe it. And and then you start seeing real effects. You know, I, I was saying that like I have a couple of friends that started taking it because they were just had some gas and bloating. And they were like, am I supposed to sleep better? Because I'm sleeping better since I started taking this.
Starting point is 00:21:33 And, or am I supposed to, I kind of started losing a few pounds without having any correlation. I'm like, absolutely. You know, you're gut microbiome, the bacteria living in and on us is dictating so much of our overall health. I mean, from even weight management to your mood, to how you're sleeping, it's dictating virtually every aspect of our overall health.
Starting point is 00:21:57 So I always laugh because in the pharmaceutical world, it's like side effects include suicidal thoughts, death, you know, all these awful things where here people might be drawn to just thrive because, oh, they have some gas or bloating or they have a skin rash that they want to work on or they have an autoimmune issue or allergies. But then they might start to notice all these other benefits of sleeping better, being in a better mood, better weight management, even less sugar cravings. We hear that a lot too because when you have an unhealthy gut, you have an overgrowth of yeast. It allows the yeast to overgrow in your gut. And when you have a high over high amount of yeast, you tend to crave sugar more. So there's this meme that says like, it wasn't
Starting point is 00:22:38 my fault that I ate the cupcake. It's like, my bacteria made me eat the cupcake because you know, it's really when you don't have a healthy bacteria, you are literally allowing this yeast and overgrowth of candida to proliferate and then you start craving sugar more. So all of these other side benefits are so powerful and so exciting when you start taking the product. In addition to why you maybe already started taking it. You're so funny, it's so exciting. I'm thinking this is so awful. Okay. What you made me remember when you were just
Starting point is 00:23:09 talking about skin rash is this is so gross during the pandemic. I was super stressed out. I mean, horribly stressed out. I was single mom with a kid that I was homeschooling in a two bedroom condo and my speaking business disappeared overnight.
Starting point is 00:23:22 It was so stressful. I mean, obviously we got through it, think, think, goodness, and life is so much better now. However, it was tough for a moment in time. And I broke out, Tina, my whole face was covered in red welts. Like it looked like I had acne,
Starting point is 00:23:36 like severe acne, like a teenager going through really bad acne and puberty. I've never had a problem with my skin, my whole leg. So I called my dermatologist during this time who's a friend of mine. And I said, I'm going to send you pictures like, I'm so horrible, I don't know what to do. And I don't know why this is happening. And so immediately, he put me on a very, very strong, I think it was like, dioxin, I
Starting point is 00:23:57 don't know, it's something very, super strong antibiotic for my face. And it went away so quickly. But of course, I do know I shouldn't be on very strong medications. That's not good for my face. And it went away so quickly. But of course, I do know I shouldn't be on very strong medications. That's not good for my body. So I decided I was like, you know what, I'm going to after two weeks, it was gone. I'm like, I'm just going to stop to and he told me no, do three months straight because you don't want this coming back. And I stopped after two weeks because I was scared and it came right back. And so it became this really awful situation that I had going on for a few months,
Starting point is 00:24:25 and finally I did what he said, I stayed on it till it killed everything, you know, anything and everything in my body, and then I was able to eventually get off of it. How long when someone has a tough run like that with medicines and skin issues, how long is there gut going to be wrong for? Like how do you fix something like that? I mean, that's tough because really the biggest offender to your gut health are antibiotics. And we know we have to take antibiotics to save lives at times. I mean, your gut instinct to be like, oh, I only want to be out of for two weeks was probably right because it's like, oh gosh, I don't want to be destroying my gut bacteria because we have to remember our gut, there's this ecosystem of beneficial bacteria and pathogenic bacteria.
Starting point is 00:25:10 So the good bacteria and the bad bacteria. And so we don't want to get rid of all of the bad bacteria, but we want the good bacteria to out, you know, weigh the bad bacteria. And so when you're taking an antibiotic, it's killing off the bad bacteria, but it's also killing off the good bacteria. And that could be really detrimental because we know that our gut is really important. Like we said, dictating all these aspects of our overall health. And the effects of an antibiotic can last up to a year to two years on your body. But I've got good news. The good news is that the spore-based probiotics that are found in just thrive actually help rebuild that ecosystem in your gut. They're going in and they're helping bring that good beneficial bacteria back to life. Your body will eventually bring it back anyway, but not maybe all the way.
Starting point is 00:25:55 So we want to make sure that we're continually supporting it with a spore-based probiotic, which is very different than any of the other probiotic strains on the market. But it's so don't worry about it, but also just try to like, I always tell people try to avoid antibiotics just to take them, but antibiotics in our food supply. We see antibiotics in meat products all the time. You know, unfortunately this world we live in
Starting point is 00:26:16 is so offensive to our gut health. It is literally everything we're doing from antibiotics to glyphosate, which is the active ingredient in Roundup. That's being sprayed all of our produce every day. We're ingesting this Roundup that is basically only killing the good bacteria in the gut, at least the antibiotics killing the bad bacteria along with the good bacteria. Glyphosate actually only targets the beneficial bacteria. So that's a big offender. We have household products that are so offensive to our
Starting point is 00:26:46 gut health like those ones that say kills 99.99% of the bacteria. Actually, there was a study done on that showing that households that use cleaning products that say kills 99.99% of the bacteria actually have children with a higher incidence of allergies and autoimmune issues because it's so disruptive to our gut health. And you know, we have this mindset in the world in the US that, you know, bacteria is bad. And bacteria is bad, but only less than 1% is actually bad. The overwhelming majority of our bacteria is actually really beneficial. And as a human, we are 10 times more bacterial cells than we are human cells. So like we have to wrap our head around that a little,
Starting point is 00:27:27 like we are 10 times more bacterial cells than we are human. And yet we live in this world that's so antibacterial. We're always trying to kill bacteria, but so much of our bacteria living in an honest is actually really, really beneficial. So it's unfortunately that we're living in this world and this is why we see this rise in allergies.
Starting point is 00:27:46 You know, when I was a kid, which was a long, long time ago, I knew one classmate that had an allergy. He had a peanut allergy from kindergarten all through high school. And I went to a very large high school. I knew one classmate that had an allergy. Obviously, we know now peanut free tables. It's hard to go to a restaurant without asking, do you have any food allergies? I mean, why do we all of a sudden have these allergies? And it's really this onset of antibiotics, is onset of glyphosate and roundup that's sprayed all over our food supply, the toxicity, the chemicals, and things like that that are in our world. Animatics, like I said, save lives. And so, I mean, thank God for the discovery of antibiotics. I mean, I'm not suggesting that they're horrible, terrible things, but you know, you see the, the teenagers who are on an antibiotic for years at a time to take care of their acne.
Starting point is 00:28:32 And it's like, no, what's the, why do we have acne? Or why do we have this issue? And let's get to the recalls. And maybe be on an antibiotic for a period of time, but then get off of it and start healing your gut is what I would suggest. We can heal our gut. and that's the exciting part. Well, also what's exciting is that your product, a child that has acne can take this.
Starting point is 00:28:51 This is incredible to me. Yep, yep. That's how I got my kids. My daughters to start taking it while they were in high school. So I'm like, you guys got to try this. And we don't say that I'm not suggesting that it cures acne. I would never say that. That's a claim.
Starting point is 00:29:04 I wouldn't say that. But we know that acne is caused by a dysbiosis in your gut. And we know that this is a great, the probiotic, the spore-based probiotic is really a really, really important tool in supporting your gut function. So let's distinguish probiotics and spore-based, because I was confused by that originally. Okay. Yeah, we were complete disruptors in the market. So not only did we like put our life savings in this business and you know, did something that we had no idea what we were doing, we actually brought a totally different type of probiotic to the market of very different strain. Nobody had heard of really, we were like the first ones in retail stores and things like that. So a spore base probiotic, the difference is it has this endospore shell around itself.
Starting point is 00:29:49 And this shell has this natural, like, coating on it. And this is not something we've engineered. This is the way these same strains were found in the soil. So they have this shell around them itself. And when you swallow it, it's dormant. So when it's in the capsule when you swallow it, it's dormant. So when it's in the capsule and in the bottle, it's dormant. It's not live bacteria. You swallow it, it's dormant.
Starting point is 00:30:12 It gets, it hits the stomach acid, which is very acidic, very, it's like meant to be the gastric barrier. It's dormant. It's not till it hits the intestines that it takes its shell off. And that's when it goes into its live vegetative cell state. And when it's in its live vegetative cell state, it starts to work throughout the entire intestinal tract. So it stays there for about 21 to 28 days, working through from the small intestinal all the way down to the large intestine until it, you know, safely is removed from the body. So
Starting point is 00:30:40 it is so different. You know, people a lot of times will say, oh, I know a probiotic needs to be alive. So I'm going to buy one in the refrigerator. And I always laugh at that because it's like, I mean, doctors are saying this. I mean, I can't tell you how many people, family members who have said, oh, my doctor said, make sure you take a probiotic that's in the refrigerator. And it's like, that's because we all know a probiotic in order to be even defined as a probiotic needs to be a live micro or micro organism that confers a benefit onto the host. But it doesn't need to be alive in the refrigerator.
Starting point is 00:31:12 It needs to be alive in your intestines. So it doesn't need to be alive when it's in the refrigerator, it doesn't need to be alive when you take it, it needs to be alive when it gets to the intestines. And the overwhelming majority of probiotics on the market. Unfortunately, don't make that journey alive. They're actually alive or maybe they're alive in the refrigerator. And then when you take them, you get them home, maybe they're alive. But when they hit your body temperature, what's going to happen? It's 98.6. They can't even withstand the room temperature of the store shelf. How in the world would they ever survive your body temperature, which is 98.6? Much less when they hit that gastric system, when they hit the stomach, that's so acidic, the overwhelming majority of probiotics on the market are dying, and they get, you're basically
Starting point is 00:31:53 getting dead bacteria in the intestines. And it's not to say that dead bacteria might not do something, people might feel some type of symptomatic relief, but they're not making a change, a true change in that whole ecosystem in your gut. So the biggest difference with spore-based probiotics is their ability to survive the gastric system and get to the intestines 100% alive. And then in addition to that, their ability to actually work through the intestinal tract. And we always say they're kind of the gardener of the gut, because if you envision a garden that's been stepped on and trampled on and there's weeds growing all over the garden. With the spores, you throw them into the garden. They get there 100% alive. They attach to the soil. So if you
Starting point is 00:32:35 compare that to your gut, they attach to your intestinal cell wall. The spores go in and they're the gardener, they're getting rid of the weeds in the garden. And then they're taking those plants that have been stepped on and trampled on and helping bringing them back to life and tending to them and taking care of the garden. So in your gut, they're getting rid of the pathogenic, the overgrowth of the pathogenic bacteria. And then they're helping bring those strains, those good healthy bacterial strains in your body and helping them bring them back to life.
Starting point is 00:33:02 So it's such a profound difference, whereas the majority of probiotics on the market, the lactobacillus, the thylistithyl bacterium types, stagrains, you throw them in the garden, they really never get there alive at all, but let's say they did, they may plant a plant here or there, and then they pass through, they pass through the body, they pass through the garden,
Starting point is 00:33:21 but they're not doing anything with those weeds in the garden, they're not doing anything with the plants that the garden. They're not doing anything with the plants that have been stepped on and trampled on. So it's really, it's a completely different approach to maintenance of your gut health. And it's why we see the results that we see with people. Well, I know that you're such a strong believer in research and so much of your company is based in research.
Starting point is 00:33:41 What is the research showing us when someone initially takes your product? First study we did was the gastric survivability study that showed that our strains survive 100% by the time they get the intestines. Another study we did was something called a gut model study. And a gut model study shows we took two of our strains and only over two and a half weeks it showed a 30% change, shift, a positive shift in the microbes in the gut. So imagine that garden after two and a half weeks, just a 30% improvement in that garden.
Starting point is 00:34:10 So that was really exciting, but then the really exciting study that was done on our strains was a double blind human clinical trial on leaky gut. And I don't know of a pharmaceutical, a probiotic, any over the counter medication or product out there that has a double blind human clinical trial on leaky gut. And leaky gut is basically what it sounds like. It's basically you have got the intestinal cell wall and there's holes that start to develop. And then when toxins from your gut seep into your bloodstream, you start developing auto immune issues.
Starting point is 00:34:42 You start to have you have this chronic low grade inflammation on a regular basis, it's really detrimental, this leaking gut. And we found that after 30 days, they took 100 college students that were healthy, no medication, nothing like that, and found that 55% of them had a leak he got and did not even know it. So they estimate that 80% of the adult population
Starting point is 00:35:03 probably has a leak he got and doesn't even know it. People ask me all the time, is there a test to test for that? Only in the research settings. Right now, you can't go to Quest or any of those commercial type of labs to get that type of the test, but you can find it in a research setting. But I always say, you may as well just assume you have a leaky gut, unless you're doing things to really maintain your gut health. Because, like you said, this world we live in is so disruptive to our gut and our gut lining. So the study that we did, we took those 55% of the college students divided them in half and saw that after 30 days of being on the product, no other diet or lifestyle interventions,
Starting point is 00:35:38 you know, so these are college students. We know they're all destroying their bodies. Like, all they did was get set home with the strains that are just thrive and then as well as a policy, the other half got a placebo. And they found after 30 days, they saw a 42% reduction in these toxins that seeped into the bloodstream, which told us that we're actually sealing up that gut lining, which is huge. I mean, huge for our health to seal up that gut lining. I mean, they're saying now that leakiness of the gut is the LPS toxins that leak into the gut
Starting point is 00:36:08 is actually the number one driver of Alzheimer's. You know, nobody's thinking about your gut for Alzheimer's, but they're all related. And so that was a really profound and exciting study. It was published in a huge gastrointestinal journal and it was really, really exciting for us. Starting point is 00:38:28 What are some of the symptoms for people listening right now that we could be experiencing if we have leaky gut? Gas, bloating diarrhea, constipation, like we talked about, skin issues, like acne, skin rashes. If you have an autoimmune disease, exomerserisis, in rashes, if you have an autoimmune disease, exema, psoriasis, crones, colitis, I mean autoimmune diseases, you know, they just go on and on. That is definitely a sign you have a leaky gut. Because we know that's what happens
Starting point is 00:38:53 when those LPS toxin seep into the bloodstream, the immune system starts to like attack this, you know, this toxin that's not supposed to be in the bloodstream. And now all of a sudden you start developing different types of autoimmune diseases. Moved issues is another one. Like we talked about people who have anxiety, depression, mood swings, have trouble focusing.
Starting point is 00:39:14 All of those brain issues are all indicative of some type of leakiness of the gut as well. Because you've got this inflammation that started and they could go up to the brain. And that's what's so crazy about the gut is that there's, it's really hard to find any non-communicable disease that's not associated with the leaky-ness of the gut. They are all stemming from some type of leaky-ness of the gut or gut imbalance going on. So I always tell people, it's foundational.
Starting point is 00:39:42 This is where we start. You know, we're all taking vitamin C, vitamin D, a multivitamin, which are all really great things to be doing. But if your gut is inflamed and not healthy, it's having trouble absorbing those nutrients. It's also, the other thing is like, not only can it not absorb those nutrients, but 80% of our immune system is found in our gut. 80% of our immune system is found in our gut. 80% of our immune system is found in our gut.
Starting point is 00:40:06 That's crazy. And so if our gut is not functioning properly, it will not signal to the immune system to start activating, you know, their dendritic cells and all the different immune cells that start to activate. So it's our gut that is actually telling the immune system, okay, there's an invader,
Starting point is 00:40:24 you need to do something right now. But if our gut is not healthy, it's not sending the signals. And so we know those people who are getting sick all the time, but it does gut issues manifest in people so differently. And, you know, the obvious ones are gas floating diarrhea, constipation, autoimmune issues. There are so many other areas of your life that you can notice that you have a leakyness of the gut or an unhealthy gut. And so literally, all someone needs to do is take this pill once a day for 30 days and they're going to see improvement. Well, I mean, I have to be careful with what I say, but I mean, this is what we see people
Starting point is 00:41:01 having. We know that that's what the studies show that these strains actually are causing this leakyness of the gut to seal up. So we're not making any, does these claims, nothing like that, we're just saying. This is where your lawyer side comes out. I know, I have to be careful because these are so important for us to be taking, but it's going to support your gut health, no doubt about it. It's definitely support your digestive system.
Starting point is 00:41:26 It will support all other kinds of organs in your body. And how does someone take it? What's the right way to take the pill? Oh, it's literally the easiest thing in the world. You just take one capsule with food every day. We do suggest people start slowly. Most people, I'd say 85% of the people take a capsule every day and are totally fine.
Starting point is 00:41:45 But sometimes when you, these strains are so powerful. So when you start killing off the pathogenic bacteria, you have something called die-off. And so that might just give you some more gastrointestinal discomfort. And so we always just tell people to go start slowly, take a half a capsule every day. You could open the capsule, you could mix it with food if you want or drink. You could do half a capsule every day or you could do the capsule, you could mix it with food if you want or drink, you could do half a capsule every day or you could do one capsule every other day, but normally it's just one capsule a day. And if you want to start slowly, you could do that for the first couple days, see how
Starting point is 00:42:14 you're doing and then slowly try trade up to that one capsule a day. But it's so easy. It's literally the simplest thing that you could do to support your gut by taking one a day with food. Time a day doesn't matter. I always just say take it with your largest meal. The day we actually study that to show that these strains proliferate better in the presence of food. So it's fine to take it on a de-stemic. It just would work that much better in the presence of food.
Starting point is 00:42:38 Well, go to Just Thrive because you need the probiotic. I'm on it. And today we have a code for everyone. Confidence is your code, your promo code to say 15% sitewide, go to justthrivehealth.com. Now, I want to jump into your other product just calm. If you could just share with everybody a little bit about what that product does for them. Sure. So remember I was talking about the probiotic, how we seal up that leaky gut because we don't want the LPS toxins, seeping into the bloodstream because it creates inflammation on the body. So that inflammation could go into the brain. And so that's why you see people who have LPS toxins in their body will have a lot of anxiety,
Starting point is 00:43:18 depression, Alzheimer's, whatever it might be. So that's one form of inflammation that the brain could be hit with is those that chronic low grade inflammation caused by LPS. The other type of inflammation in our brain is caused by external stressors. And those are the ones we could all relate to, you know, you get cut off at traffic, you got this list of things to do. You don't have enough hours in the day, you know, you get in a fight with a loved one, whatever it might be.
Starting point is 00:43:42 You have these external stressors. And we are faced with these external, our phones going off like crazy. We're faced with those all the time and we're constantly in this fight or flight situation. And, you know, we used to fight or flight was a good, it was a mechanism for us, you know, as we were evolving as a society because we saw, you know, a stay-per-toothed tiger. We'd see some predator coming after us and we'd have our adrenaline rush to our body, and we'd be like, okay, we got to get fight this tiger. But the way we feel those things now is no different than being faced by a big tiger
Starting point is 00:44:14 that's coming at us or a big animal that's coming towards us. Every time you get stressed when you hear your phone rang or you are stressed out about, you know, a meeting that you had or whatever it might be, you have that same fight or flight response. And so, and our cortisol levels go up, send signals to our HPA access and we just, it's a bad thing. So what the just calm product, our new just calm product, which unfortunately is so relevant right now because so many people are experiencing unprecedented levels of stress. It is actually helping reduce the cortisol level. We've actually done eight clinical studies on this strain and they show that it's actually helping reduce your perception of stress. So we all know those people that could, you know, like I'm one of those people that sees a ambulance goes by and I'm like, praying, please don't let
Starting point is 00:45:01 that go to somebody that I know and I love and I'm freaking out about it. And I'm like, the other people, my one girlfriend's like, I see, you know, ambulance goes by and I'm like, oh, it's, you know, a cat stuck up at a tree. You know, she's not thinking the worst. I'm always, so, you know, there are people who can handle stress better than others. And so that's what they know that people with this particular probiotic strain,
Starting point is 00:45:20 this Bifidolongam 17 14 strain actually are able to perceive stress better, handle stress better. They have lower cortisol levels. I mean, you need good cortisol to wake up in the morning, but they're managing the cortisol level. So that's what this, this just calm product is something called a psychobiotic. It is a, the friendly bacteria that's supporting that gut brain access that we talked about
Starting point is 00:45:44 earlier, helping bring down cortisol levels, actually helping us get more into that theta wave state. So that theta wave is that flow state where your creative things are just, you know, we all want to be in that theta wave state where we just could function. We also have a study on cognitive function with these strains that it's actually helping increase cognitive function. My son is in college right now, and I'm like, you need to be taking that during your finals because he's a pretty calm kid to begin with,
Starting point is 00:46:11 but I'm like, when you're in finals, we wanna do everything we can to increase that cognitive function. So I know people will take it a lot just for like to deal with everyday stress, but also before, you know, big presentation because it helps with that as well. But it's really that being able to handle stressors better and just bringing that cortisol level down. So you're not,
Starting point is 00:46:30 because cortisol is the other cause of inflammation in the brain. And so that's what we, the studies have shown with this product. So it's been really excited. We launched this product in, I think, April of 22, just this past April, not even a year. And we sold out immediately. You could imagine, I mean, it's so sad that that's what happened. But I mean, people need real solutions. And we know, psychiatrist had their hands tied for years. They're dealing with, they're giving patients SSRIs and anxiety meds and anti-anxiety meds. But really really the problem is really stemming from the gut. You know, they've been thinking it's all stemming from the brain, but so much of the problem is actually stemming from the gut.
Starting point is 00:47:11 So this is really exciting, the psychobiotic that was recently launched. It's also a disruptor, but very heavily studied in how it supports your brain function and your ability to handle stress. Hey, it's me, food. If I know one thing, it's freshness. Go to Randalls. You'll see from the hand-cut fresh meats to the fresh produce. There's a reason I call Randalls home.
Starting point is 00:47:34 They know fresh. Sincerely food. Sincerely Randalls. All right, so everybody listening is going to start with the just-thrive probiotic. How do you add the just calm to it when do you do that? So I would always suggest starting with one product. So just so you could kind of see what you're noticing.
Starting point is 00:47:51 So probably after about three weeks, you could go on to the just calm. I mean, you could start with the just calm and do the probiotic, but I just feel the probiotic, the just thrive probiotic is so foundational. I mean, I feel like every single person that has intestines, which of course, if you're living, you have intestines,
Starting point is 00:48:08 should be on this product. I can't think of anybody that shouldn't be on this product because it is so foundational for our overall health. And we could eat clean, we could do all these things. Unfortunately, we're just living in this world. If you are living in a tribe in Tanzania and living off the land, absolutely you do not need, you know, the probiotic. You don't. You, because you're getting it off the
Starting point is 00:48:30 land, but we're not getting those. Our soil is so over-farmed and it's a deplete of nutrients that we used to have. And so I would definitely suggest that you just, I would start taking the probiotic once a day with food at the end of the meal. And then maybe three weeks later, you could start to introduce the other product just calm. Okay. So everyone listening right now, the promo code is confidence to say 15% site wide. It's at just thrive health dot com.
