Starting point is 00:01:05 We've come at first aid and set you up for better tomorrow. That's your new seat, guys. I'm ready for my close time. Hi, and welcome back. I'm so excited. You are back here with me this week. Okay, so I'm sure you have a lot going on with the holidays rapidly approaching
Starting point is 00:01:24 and just the craziness of life. So I wanted to share some good news with you that was really unexpected. You know, I'm a big believer in asking for what you want, right? No one is going to just magically know what it is you want or what it is you need. So give you a little backstory. One of my great guests this year was Bob Berg, who's an amazing author.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Literally has sold millions upon millions of books, right? Incredibly successful, light years ahead of me. And I was really grateful. I earlier in the year, I was teaching a class. And one of the students privately came to me after class one day and said, hey, you should get ahold of this guy, Bob Berg. He's amazing. He's an amazing, incredible author. You need to have him on your podcast. And I thought, Oh, yeah, I'm sure I'll be able to get him. You know, it's going to be so hard to get him. I sent him a DM on LinkedIn. He immediately replied,
Starting point is 00:02:17 said he would love to do my show. He did my show was so kind and gracious. We exchanged cell phone numbers and he's just been so sweet and kind to me. Promoting the show, the episode, you know, check it out earlier this year with Bob Burgers, really such a good episode. He's such a positive and inspiring person, so smart. Anyhow, we stayed in touch. And as my new book was about to come out, when overcoming your villains was about to drop,
Starting point is 00:02:45 I reached out to him and I said, Bob, it would mean the world to me if you would write a review. I currently have Brandy Chastain, I have Chris Boss, Amy Morn, I have some amazing endorsers of my book on the actual, the formal endorsements that you get when you're writing your book, right?
Starting point is 00:03:04 So I had some amazing names, but I thought it'd be great to add your credibility and validity to support my book as well. So I asked for what I wanted, and he said, no. I was so surprised because he had been so helpful and such a supporter. And I said, oh, okay. All right, understand. And he said, well, let me explain. He said, Heather, because I've sold, understand me. So we'll let me explain. He said, Heather, because I've sold so many books,
Starting point is 00:03:27 I'm constantly bombarded with people asking me to write endorsements for their books. He said, I made a personal decision years ago. I will not write an endorsement of someone's book unless I've read it. And he said, don't take it personally. It's just a decision that I made and you've got some great endorsements already.
Starting point is 00:03:47 I think you're all set, you're fine. So I was a little disappointed, but you know, he made a good point. I was fine. I had other endorsements. You know, it wasn't the end of the world. It was just, I just assumed the guy was going to say yes, right? So fast forward a few months.
Starting point is 00:04:02 And my book is live, my book is out. And Bob had posted about my book, being out, just trying to support me, such a great person. And I didn't ask him to do that. He just did that on his own. But then yesterday, you know, it's very important when you write a book that you get, well, first of all, it's very important when you do anything that you have reviews and recommendations of your work, right?
Starting point is 00:04:21 You need to have reviews and recommendations of your work. If you don't start asking your clients to support you and write it down, put it on LinkedIn, post it wherever. So I'm constantly looking at my Amazon and my goodreads page to see if I'm getting new reviews and what they say, I wanna know what people are saying, right? So wouldn't you know I went to Amazon yesterday
Starting point is 00:04:38 and this is what I read from Bob Berg. This is so crazy, right? Because a year ago I didn't even know him. He's such a famous author. And he said he did not want to give me an endorsement of my book. This is what he said. Terrific life enhancing and confidence building. Heather Monahan is a well-known and highly regarded speaker, author and coach in the area of developing self-confidence. This, of course, is an immensely important key to one sixth, both personally and professionally. In her newest book, she digs deep to help her
Starting point is 00:05:06 readers and students overcome that which can all too easily stop a person from possessing that confidence. And that is our villains. Yes, our villains can be external, such as the one the author shares who sabotaged her in the workplace environment and ultimately upon being promoted to CEO, fired her. Actually, you'll discover that Heather ultimately fired her, but that's in the book. However, most of the villains that Heather helps us to overcome within the pages are our own internal villains, those unconscious ones, the most dangerous ones of all.
Starting point is 00:05:39 She expertly assists us in bringing these villains from unconscious to conscious, then providing an action plan for us to take in order to overcome them. And ultimately, leave them by the wayside. This is a very helpful and inspiring book filled with powerful life, enhancing wisdom. And I'd suggest not only buying a copy for yourself, but for everyone you'd like to see live a life filled with joy, abundance and happiness.
Starting point is 00:06:03 So obviously to say that that was an amazing review, that's an amazing review and it's so thoughtful, right? It's a lot of people write a review which is still helpful that just says like great book, you know, must buy, but to be that thoughtful, here's what's funny. I never expected him to do that and you know upon looking back, it was really about for him personally, he wanted to make sure he read a book before he would endorse it and that he did like it, because his name is, you know, he's got such a big name in the book business. So I totally
Starting point is 00:06:34 understand why he declined my ask originally, but I was so surprised that he actually read the book. And then that he felt that strongly he left a review. So, you know, continue to ask for what it is that you want because like me, you might get discouraged when you get the know, but like me, maybe a month or two later, you'll find out you planted that seed in that person's head. And when they do have the time or they are able to, you know, complete the task, they're going to show up and give you the yes that you originally had hoped for. Okay, so always ask first. All right, so a couple different things.
Starting point is 00:07:10 One I wanted to share a story with you around holiday a couple years ago. As we move into the holidays right now, you know, we're thinking of what gifts we can give people. I'm a big fan of the ultimate gift to give anyone is the gift of confidence. That's just my personal belief, right? I just, obviously, I've got this show creating confidence. Obviously I wrote the book, Confidence Creator, overcome your villains, right? I do, I give tons of speeches around how to create confidence.
Starting point is 00:07:36 And to me, I think that, that is just the ultimate gift. That's the baseline for everything else in your life. So to that end, it was really weird. It must have been 2019 because it was before the pandemic. I live in a building and we have concierge that is constantly working 24 hours a day in our building, right? Because it's just the way that it works here in Miami. And there was, so there's a lot of people that work at the building, a lot of different concierge. And one woman was always so kind to me, always so thoughtful and engaged with me and my son.
Starting point is 00:08:09 So I got to know her. And as I got to know her, it was holidays in 2019, she opened up to me one day. You know, usually she wouldn't speak this way in the lobby, but no one was around. And she shared that she was really discouraged and exhausted and she didn't know what to do. And so I asked her, you know, tell me more what's going on.
Starting point is 00:08:27 And she said, Heather, I've been working so many shifts here that I barely sleep at night. I'm looking to take on another job because I just, as much as I like working here and the money's good, I physically can't keep up with the hours because they had her working at a ton of hours because they were short staffed and everyone loved her. And they were somewhat taking advantage of her commitment and loyalty, which again, people will treat us the way we teach them to. So, she said, I don't know what to do.
Starting point is 00:08:54 I feel like I'm burning out. I can't keep living like this. I have no life outside of work. I don't see my family. I'm unhappy. So, I said, I'll be right back. And I ran up to my apartment. I'll never forget. I was so
Starting point is 00:09:06 excited. And I grabbed confidence creator, my first book, because this was 2019. I didn't have my new book. And I actually now that I think that I wonder which one I would have given her, if I had both, probably I would have given her both of them. But anyhow, I wrote out, you know, a note to her in the front of the book from me about how I believe in her and that if she starts putting herself first and finds a confidence within her that she's going to be able to do more, go for more and be employed somewhere where she's respected and appreciated and encouraged to have a life outside of work that this, this is not enough for her. She needs, she needs to go bigger. And so I gave her the book. Okay. So that
Starting point is 00:09:43 happened. Let's say that's on a Sunday. On Monday, even before Uber Eats was a big deal, there was this one Mediterranean place in my neighborhood that I always would get delivery from. They have the best grilled chicken salad and chicken kebabs. Anyways, whenever I was pressed for time, I would call them and order my regular. So I got to know the delivery guy, right? Because I would be at my house probably once a week. And super nice young guy always in a great mood anyhow. So that happened on Sunday. On Monday, the delivery guy comes to my house to drop off my chicken salad. I was at home alone. My son was probably at practice or something. I
Starting point is 00:10:21 answered a door and he looks awful. And I said, oh my gosh, what's wrong? Are you okay? And he says, no, I'm not. I'm working three jobs. And I remember a holiday time, he's like, it's the holidays, I'm trying to make money to be able to buy gifts. I just max out.
Starting point is 00:10:36 I'm not doing well. And I thought, oh my gosh, this is serendipitous. It's just like yesterday, right? He's not putting himself first. He's not going bigger. He's not going for more, he's just settling and trying to get by and working himself to death. I said, hey, on a second, I ran into my apartment,
Starting point is 00:10:51 I got confidence creator, I wrote a note, I brought it to him, I said, listen to me, you deserve better than this. You need to start taking care of yourself, I believe in you, I know what a nice kind person you are, I want you to find the confidence within you and go for more. Read this book and I want you to come back and tell me about it and tell me what you're gonna do.
Starting point is 00:11:10 And he said, okay, I will. He left. Okay, now here's the big part. Da, da, da, da, da. So I'd say it was probably two weeks later after this all happened. I was walking into my building and the woman that I had given the book to
Starting point is 00:11:25 was all smiles so excited. And she said, come back. There's like a back area where the male remis that is not, you know, front and center in the lobby. She said, come back into the male area for a minute. I want to show you something. We go back there and she's got my book and it's all highlighted and notes all over it. And she said, with that tear in her eye, this book changed my life, and I resigned Heather. And I was so sad that she resigned because I loved this lady. However, she found a bigger job
Starting point is 00:11:54 making more money, working regular nine to six hours, right, instead of working overnight and, you know, sleeping at work and all this craziness she'd been doing here, she found a bigger opportunity because she was willing to go for more because she found the confidence within herself. And it was just such, I was sad to see her go, but happy that she was leaving, right? Because she did deserve more.
Starting point is 00:12:17 And once she recognized it within herself, the rest of the world did too. Okay, I've never seen her again, right? Because she moved on in her life, but that's okay. I'm super proud of her. I'm sure she's doing great. She's just a wonderful person. So this is a really interesting, about a week after that, I had ordered my chicken salad
Starting point is 00:12:37 and the delivery guy came and it was the same guy I had given the book to and I hadn't seen him in weeks, right? Maybe even a month and he looked awful. And now the holidays had passed and it was January and I said, oh my gosh, what's going on? You said, oh, you know, I'm just always working, working three jobs, can't make it work. I just, you know, people are just nasty
Starting point is 00:12:56 and it was complaining about how people treat him. And I said, did you read the book that I gave you? And he said, oh, no, I don't have time. I haven't had a chance. And I said, okay, no, I understand't have time. I haven't had a chance. And I said, OK, no, I understand. I know that you're slammed. But I really just want to remind you
Starting point is 00:13:11 that you've got something there in your hands available to you. And you might want to change yourself from the inside out so that you change this environment and these choices and the people that you're with and the jobs you're taking and the way you're letting yourself be treated. And he said, Oh, yeah, yeah, no, for sure. I will. And cut to here we are in 2021.
Starting point is 00:13:31 And I want you to know he is still the delivery guy. And he's never read the book. I don't even ask him anymore, right? Because I understand that is not his path. And he doesn't want to take that chance for whatever reason or, you know, whatever excuse there is. I don't know. But he's decided to continue living his life exactly the way it is, which is exhausting and unhappy. And national security experts are warning. Our aging power grid is more vulnerable than ever. January marked a third time at power station North Carolina was
Starting point is 00:13:59 damaged by gunfire. Authorities are saying the tech raises a new level of threat. Authorities are now checking our grid for vulnerabilities. They've identified nine key substations. If these substations are attacked, power could be knocked out from coast to coast for up to 18 months. NetSuite.com slash monahan.netsuite.com slash monahan to get the visibility and control you need to whether any storm.netsuite.com slash monahan. I love that story because two people were given the same solution and two people handled it completely different. Even though these two people were in very similar situations, right? One person decided to take the opportunity and run with it, the other person
Starting point is 00:16:45 decided just to run with the existing life and not take the opportunity. So I can give you tools, anyone can give you tools, you know, you can receive opportunities and potential solutions for your life and your challenges, but if you don't decide to do the work, if you don't decide to double down on you, nothing will change. And that was just such a great example for me of the choices that we make and the importance of putting yourself first. Putting yourself first is not selfish, it's selfless. Because the more you're able to show up, is that better version yourself, the more you
Starting point is 00:17:20 can help those around you, help your community, and do more good in the world, right? So let's make this world a better place. Okay, so, oh, so this week I did it, I was a keynote speaker at a charity event for Cystic Fibrosis, and I had posted about this event online and with a link so that people could get tickets. Anyhow, a few people showed up that I was really excited to meet,
Starting point is 00:17:43 and I'm so hoping they're listening right now. Marisol from New York, I just want to say thank you so much for flying down to Florida to see me speak at that event. She came in for the night. And I'll tell you, I know I've mentioned this to you before, but there are countless times over the past few years that I wonder, maybe I should just go back to corporate America. This is the worst time in the world.
Starting point is 00:18:05 It's been working for yourself during a global pandemic, right? All my speaking business got shut down overnight. It's been so slow to come back. Then the Delta variant came and everything got canceled again. Now there's this new omnicron. And right, there's a lot of uncertainty which is really scary as a single parent
Starting point is 00:18:23 and very stressful. And I do have my moments where I second-guess and start thinking, oh my gosh, maybe this isn't the right time to be doing this, maybe it's not going to take off. You know, I've been working so hard and I still haven't seen that real growth that I need to have. And then I saw Marisol and she explained to me in the sweetest, most supportive way that she flew down four the night from New York to Florida to see me speak at this one event
Starting point is 00:18:52 because it meant that much to her that she meet me. And she was listening to my audible, vocal in the flight and she loved it and she was telling me all about what she loved about it and how she listened to this show and it meant the world to me. So first of all, don't ever underestimate what your words, the words that you have that are on your heart, what they can mean and how they can impact someone else.
Starting point is 00:19:15 And she even mentioned, don't give up Heather, don't quit because I need you. I need you to, you know, keep doing the work that you're doing. You are making a difference. And that needs such a difference to me. That night I had to hire a babysitter and that night I was in the car for over three hours driving to the event. And there was all these things that were frustrating going on
Starting point is 00:19:36 that I'm like, gosh, I hope this is worth it. And seeing her that night really did make it worth it as well as my friend Mark and his wife came and they were there to support me. There's a lot of people there to support me and remind me why are we doing it? Right? Why are we doing the things we're doing? And for me, it really is about making an impact in the world. It really is about helping others and and showing up as that real version of myself. Even though that version might not be for everybody, that's fine. And in fact, I think that's good. But it just, I don't know, it was a great reminder. Please share your feedback with others when when some things on your heart say it, you're
Starting point is 00:20:14 going to make a big difference in someone's life. Even though you might not think you are, I don't know if Marisol thought she would make a big difference in my life that day, but she sure did. Loud and clear, the fact that woman jumps on a plane and came down to support me, it's huge, unbelievable. So I just want to say thank you. Thank you to everyone that supports me. Thank you to everyone that encourages me. I'm so, so grateful and thank you for reminding me of my wife. Okay, so I've talked about this before, you know, I'm a big believer in journaling. And the reason why is it gives you an opportunity to reflect on where you are in life at different times in life. It changes, right? There's ebbs and flows good and bad learnings and limitations. So since we're at the holiday time, I have been going through my house like crazy trying to get rid of things so I could fit the tree up and the new decorations and you know, I wanted to purge through some old things so I can make space for the holiday things. And I ended up finding a page.
Starting point is 00:21:10 Sometimes I write in a traditional journal, you know, a book, but then sometimes I'm just at work, whatever it's his back when I was in media as a chief revenue officer, I would have, like, my little notebooks with me, and I just tear a piece of paper and then file it away somewhere, you know, as my notes for my journal. So I came across one of these pages. It's from a notebook I used. I take tons of notes, just FYI. But this is from a notebook I used back when I was a chief revenue officer.
Starting point is 00:21:37 And from what I say in this note, it makes me think I've probably wrote this in 2015, okay? And which is so 2015 or 2016. And so this is right, I got fired at the end of 2017, right? So this is probably a year before I get fired, but things were not good, right? I was not happy. I've talked about this.
Starting point is 00:21:58 I was in an environment that slowly over a decade really eroded and became very toxic. I was working side by side with a woman that hated me. Things were not good. I was doubting myself. Things weren't great for me then. Okay, so here's what I wrote. So bizarre. Why does everything have to fall apart
Starting point is 00:22:15 in order for me to do something? I don't even know what I'm referencing there. I'm not sure. Something obviously fell apart. I'm not sure what it was. But I'm asking myself, like, why instead, the minute I know something's not right, why don't I take action on it immediately? Why do I have to wait for it to get really bad? And I
Starting point is 00:22:31 think that's super insightful. I'm glad I was asking myself that question. I then go on to say, why can't I just be me and go with the flow? Everything doesn't have to be a fight. Wow, that one really hit me. Here's why. Today, I am just me. Right? Today, I do show up as that real version of me. I'm not asking myself that question anymore, which makes me realize the growth that I've had just over the last few years in my life,
Starting point is 00:22:57 which is super exciting to me, right? And hopefully it gives you that possibility that things can change drastically over time. The other thing is just go with the flow. That's interesting. I remember in that environment, I felt like I was always going upstream and everybody else was going downstream. Here's why.
Starting point is 00:23:15 I wasn't with the right people. I was in the wrong place. The more I would lean into who I was, the more fights and issues would break out at work. For example, when I would say, guys, why do you keep telling me what a great job I do and how much you value me? I keep asking over a decade to be added to the board of directors and I keep getting lip service back. Why is that okay?
Starting point is 00:23:36 And an argument would break out or I'd get more lip service and I'd get more frustrated. I was with the wrong people. Had I listened to myself, I'd say something's wrong here, something's broken, and while I'm scared to leave, I'd rather take the chance to leave to find the right people than stay riding by side by side with people that don't really want me here and don't really value me. Okay, then I went on to write, stay in my power,
Starting point is 00:23:58 stand for myself, stay in my light. And I was trying to remind myself to do that, right? So that's a pretty big deal that I was writing that down on a piece of paper. I do that now without writing that down. Then I went on to say network with more successful people who are in their own power, get in that league. And I wrote a woman's name down.
Starting point is 00:24:16 So this is what makes me think, yeah, this is definitely end of 2016. So now I'm surrounded with people who are way more successful than me like a Bobburg, right? The more you start reaching out to these people that are light years ahead of you, adding value to them, supporting them and encouraging them, they're going to start coming back and supporting and encouraging you. But this is so true. If you don't like the pace at which you're moving, change up the people you are running with, right? And I didn't like
Starting point is 00:24:42 the pace I was moving at back then. I felt like I was constantly being told no. Things were always difficult. I couldn't leapfrog over these challenges and get off the ground and gain momentum. And that's because I had a villain in my way, blocking me. And I had to clear out the villains around me in order to take on the biggest villain you're ever gonna meet, the one within you.
Starting point is 00:25:03 Okay, haters are there, but that's them. Don't interact with them. I can trust my intuition. I will know. So again, I'm writing down to remind myself what I want myself to do. Things that now today, I don't write down that haters are there.
Starting point is 00:25:19 I know they're there. I hear from them every day, but it's irrelevant. It's not about me. It's about them. And it means that I'm showing up as unique and different, which is super exciting. I love that. I love that I'm unique and different, right?
Starting point is 00:25:29 And then trust your intuition, that was big. I do that automatically now, just like automatically back then, I didn't do it, right? I had doubted myself and been around doubters for so long. I didn't trust my own voice. And it took a lot of journaling, it took a lot of self-reflection to start dialing up that inner voice,
Starting point is 00:25:49 and then it took me taking chances and acting on that intuition, like the day I posted, I've been fired, and everyone said, worst idea ever, take that post down, and I checked in with myself, and I said, no, it's not. I'm gonna listen to me. And again, the reason why I decided to do that
Starting point is 00:26:03 is for a long time, I had listened to the people around me. And then I'd be frustrated when it would turn out that they were wrong. And I knew they were wrong, but I was trying to make them happy. And I wasn't trusting myself because then I'm annoyed with other people. Finally, I got to a point in my life where I thought, okay, if I'm going to listen to my voice and opinion, at least then, if it doesn't work out, I don't have to be mad at other people. At least then, I can say, I it doesn't work out, I don't have to be mad at other people.
Starting point is 00:26:25 At least then, I can say, I'm in charge of myself. I need the decision. If I don't like it, I can change it. And I thought that just seemed like a better way to live. And it is, and it's a better way to live for you and for your loved ones. So listen to the one voice and opinion that counts. And that is and will always be your own.
Starting point is 00:26:43 Okay, oh my gosh. Oh, so this was another interesting situation that happened this week. Okay, first of all, let's take it back to November. I had some problems with my email. I believe I mentioned this to you. Anyhow, I was moving nine million out of speaking of speed of light.
Starting point is 00:26:59 I was getting into book launch. I had no time for anything. Ran into an issue with my email server and just said, like, do whatever you want, just get it back up and running it and protect the account. What I didn't realize is when I gave that order, the company put this really high security on my emails. And what happened was 1200 emails in the month of November,
Starting point is 00:27:20 I never received them. They were moved into this quarantine, literally, it's called quarantine area, that I don't get, that was on the server, but I never got to see them because they were in this high security trying to protect me. So one day I got an email from, no, I got a voicemail old school, I got a voicemail from Hartburg Collins leadership and it was from the speaker division, they have been trying to get a hold of me. They were sending out an email blast on me. Maybe it was when I was named top 50 keynote speaker of the year. It was something big, right? And they were trying to get a hold of me
Starting point is 00:27:52 and I wasn't responding for a week. And so she left me a voicemail. I called her back immediately. And she's like, oh my gosh, thanks so much for turning this around so quick, we've been trying to get a hold of you for over a week. And I said, how? And she said, email.
Starting point is 00:28:04 How many emails have you sent three or four? Okay. So that's when I knew something was wrong. I contacted my server and I found out there were 1200 emails I had not received. I tell you this for a couple of reasons. One, if you're reaching out to people and not getting a hold of them, never just assume that they're ignoring you.
Starting point is 00:28:22 They might not have got the message truly, right? That just might be the thing. They might be busy. They might not have got the message. Truly, right? That just might be the thing. They might be busy. They might have missed it. The email might have gone to quarantine, but don't just assume they're ignoring you or not responding to you. Follow back up. You should know what that means already. That's the best kind of notification. That's the sound of another sale on Shopify. And the moment another business dream becomes a reality. OK, so when I went, that was the beginning of the story. Then cut to, I went back to Boston for Thanksgiving this day with my dear friends. And one night we had a bunch of people over and one of our other good friends was there and he's got this huge company in Boston. And he was talking to me about business and he said, you know what, I should introduce you to this company.
Starting point is 00:31:58 They have an operation in Florida, they're amazing technology Heather and they're looking at marketing options and solutions to bring their new product to light, you know, in 2022. I think they should hire you to market them on LinkedIn and for your podcast. And I thought, okay, yeah, introduce me for sure. I'm always up for, you know, to meet new people and learn about new things and maybe there's some way I could help them out and maybe there's some way we could work together. Great, okay, so cut to I come home and he sends a formal email introduction. The guy responds immediately and says, yeah, sure, how they're would love to meet.
Starting point is 00:32:32 I respond immediately, great, what day next week works. We set up a meeting on this three-way email chat thread. Well, the day of the meeting arrives, I call the gentleman's number that he'd given me to call him. He doesn't answer. So I get voicemail. I leave a voicemail.
Starting point is 00:32:48 Nothing. So I messaged my friend back in Boston, hey, just want to let you know, I don't want you think I blew this off, but the gentleman didn't show up. He's like, text him. So I said, okay. So I send a text to this gentleman, hi, it looks like we cross our times. Not sure. Let me know a better time or day this week and we'll make it happen nothing
Starting point is 00:33:05 So my friend the next day messages me what happened nothing couldn't get hold of he said all message him So he sends a message the mind you they work together every day, right? He's creating his this gentleman's products So he messages him right back. Sorry about that super busy. I was traveling I was at the airport. I didn't get a chance to respond or we'll do it today So this went on for over a week. This respond, don't respond, respond, don't respond. Not set the meeting.
Starting point is 00:33:29 And my friend was relentless. I mean, every day he would say, did he give back to you? Did he give back to you? I'm sending another email. I'm sending another text. I'm calling him right now. He was relentless in his follow up. And the reason why I tell you this long story
Starting point is 00:33:41 is because I ended up having a meeting on Friday with this gentleman that I told him he was the hardest person in the world to get a hold of. He started laughing. The meeting went unbelievable and we just hit it off. So it looks like there's a very good chance we're going to work together next year. However, that would have never come to fruition if my friend hadn't been so relentless in the follow-up.
Starting point is 00:34:03 I hate to say this, but I probably would have walked away after the sixth time the guy blew me off, but my friend wasn't going to. And so whatever it is that's in your pipeline or that you're looking at in your future, just think to yourself, if it's really important, keep following up. There's really nice ways to do it.
Starting point is 00:34:21 Hey, I'm not sure how we confused our times, but it looks like we did. How can I get back on your schedule? Is there an assistant that you want me to get a hold of to help get on your calendar? We're just keep asking the questions in different ways and leave with positivity, right? Like, good morning.
Starting point is 00:34:35 I hope your day's off to a great start. I know things are hectic for you right now, is next week a better week for you. Right, just keep following up. I'm so glad my friend did. I met a person I would not have known in an industry I'm not familiar with, which can introduce me to all new people, all new information, which is really exciting. Okay. So one of my really good friends, Kaysha, who you're
Starting point is 00:34:55 going to see I'm going to have her on the show. I recorded the episode the other day, and I'm super excited for you to listen to it. It's so good. It's all about building community. You know, one of the things that she reminded me about building community is that we need to explain to people why we're asking for something. So here's what I'm going to explain to you. I'm always asking you, please leave a review and please share the podcast with one other person or share on your social media. Here's why.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Whatever it is that you're sharing, hypothetically you love this episode and you're like, this was super helpful to me. I don't know that unless you tell me, right? I can't just guess that you love it. So what I'm asking is if there's an episode you love, if you like the solo episodes I do, tell me. If you don't like them, tell me too, right? Because then I can make the show better,
Starting point is 00:35:41 I can improve the show towards what you want it to be so that it can serve you more. If there's questions you want me to answer, tell me. But what I so appreciate, if this week, if you love this episode, post about it, tag me in it and share it with others so that they know to tune in, that's how I can grow the show. And then that's how I know I can start leaning in more
Starting point is 00:36:00 to the things that you want me to talk about. If you're posting that you love the solo episodes, I'm gonna keep doing the solo episodes, right? But if you're posting that you really only love the interview episodes and that the Bob Berg one is your favorite, I'm gonna lean more into that content and to guests like him. So you help me improve the show when you post and tag me with the episodes that you really like
Starting point is 00:36:22 or mean the most to you, and that would help me immensely. If you have questions you want me to answer, please DM me or go to Heather Monahan.com. There's a contact me there page. You can fill that out. Let me know what you want more content around. And I am more than happy to create it for you. No one succeeds alone in this world.
