Welcome back to Creepcast.
Today we're going to be reading a story called My Dad
finally told me what happened that day,
which my dad finally told me what happened that day,
just against you want to clean read of it.
This is by the author Nazi Sharks,
which was one of the solo,
I believe that's the author of the solo episode I did
where it's my sexy neighbor or something like that.
Yep, that one you did for the Patreon, I believe.
Or no, you posted, that was the main channel video.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, no, yeah, that was.
Yeah, that's the one that you posted while we were in the hospital.
hospital giving birth because there were you were busy man yeah yeah that's when you told everyone
i named my child tonka which is pretty cool um also saw multiple tic talks where it's like
isaiah and kela giving birth hunter and then it's you singing about a cat and which is oh was that
the phenomenal cat episode yeah yeah oh phenomenal cat that's a classic people kept posting that
had no idea where it came from until i watched the episode that was that was a that was a banger
Look at him go
He jumps
He rolls
He sees
He's here
He's right in
So
He sees a phenomenal cat
Fucking ruled
So he sees a phenomenal cat
Yeah
So yeah that that guy
And the hidden web page
Do you remember the hidden web page?
The guys in the B costumes
Oh sure
That's an older one
Yeah, yeah. We read that a while back where he basically goes into the computer and he doesn't know.
It's like the Matrix kind of thing. I really liked it. I think you liked it too.
For what I can remember, yeah, I think I liked it. That was whenever we were just like tapping every, we really, we really hit every rich vein way too early on.
I think we were just excited. Well, the problem was when we started the show, it was the thing where you were just like, oh, we got to, we got to check the, you got to read this one.
I'm like, oh, well, this one's famous.
Yeah, yeah, this one, this one.
Yeah, because usually when you first go through
and when we were first going through this,
I mean, it's like, at course,
all the things that you look up,
you're like, oh, what's the next fun thing to read?
You're going to get all the good shit off the top
because that's what people are talking about.
So now it's been, and I will say,
that's been the most fascinating part of the show is,
like, you already have all the classics out of the way,
and now it's been like being really surprised by stuff
that's like older, newer,
that still is just as awesome,
but just like didn't get its day in the sun or something.
That's been, that's been the cool.
It's been cool to find hidden gyms.
I mean, like yesterday, the one we recorded The Lurker on the stairs,
such a good story.
And it's only got 18 likes.
That's insane.
Yeah, really fun.
But honestly, I think recently,
the best like new stories we found have been from Tales from the Creeps.
Oh, I think so.
There's a lot of great writers.
Oh, you can tell they're excited.
Yeah.
That's the fun thing.
Because I think that even like from old creepypastas to our slash no,
but R slash no sleep.
It was people that were excited to be creative.
You could tell that's, you know, writers that were just like,
I just, I like want to fucking be a part of this.
I want to like venture into this as well.
So it's cool seeing people from Tales in the Creep have that.
I mean, obviously it's not at the scope of like those kind of stuff.
But still, it's fun to see that there's a community of people.
Oh, yeah.
Like, oh.
I still,
I've been thinking about that one.
I forget the name of it,
but the one about the girl who sacrificed to the mantis thing,
the bug, locust, god in that old.
house. They lower her down through the chimney and stuff.
From the grab bag one? Yeah, from the grab bag.
That was called Golden House. Golden House, yes. Golden House was so good. And I really
like the way it was written, but I also have found myself thinking about how cool of an idea
that is. Like there's a house this cold has and they lowered the children through the chimney
and all that, very creepy visuals. But yeah, that just came from someone who watches the show and
wanted to ride. I think that's awesome. Oh, yeah, it is cool. It's a lot of fun. It's
fun too seeing what lane people are picking yeah in terms of like new writers who have maybe been
listened to the show for the years that it's been going and just being like I like this avenue
or I like this avenue there's definitely no one set way which has been cool it's also cool
finding authors who were like I say were a big deal they've continued to be a big deal but I remember
them as being a big deal back when I used to read and now finding stuff they're still riding
to being freaked out like by how cool it is like Christian wallace for example
and Nazi sharks here.
This story's 10 years ago,
so it's certainly one of the older ones.
But I mean, we just,
I mean,
the thing in my basement takes a step closer.
That was a great story.
That was five years old,
I think,
five or six years old.
Not that old,
comparatively.
Compared to like what I was used to
and stuff like that.
And he,
Marcus is still writing,
you know,
just had a book come out
and things like that,
six years ago.
Scary story at 2021.
So like,
you know,
there's so many,
I have found new avenues of writing and stories that I never knew of through the show that's still happening.
So it's cool to see.
But, yeah, the hidden web page was one of the old giants, I would say.
So it was cool to go back and read that.
And this one, according to a lot of people, is like their most beloved Jared Roberts' work.
Did I like the sexy neighbor one?
Trimmer was what even?
There's a lot of fun parts.
Then the...
Oh, because what's the whole thing was he sits there and he, uh...
It's like kind of like a siren.
Yeah, it's like the old man.
He goes to him and he kisses.
It's kind of like a shining moment where he goes over and he kisses the guy
and then ends up being the dude, whatever.
That's pretty fun.
The old man.
Yes, yes.
And then they had some really fun moments.
He was like sticking his like tongue through the...
There's that great quote, though, of like, uh, doesn't the mom come in and say like,
what the fuck does she say?
It's a, it's a quote now.
It's like, something, something.
Who is that man?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, what the fuck?
Yeah.
He's, like, making out with her or something.
I can't remember the fucking guy's name, though, or the kid's name, whatever.
But it's, it's, it's just a fun quote.
It's like a very fun, like, uh, chilling moment.
The other mom comes up and she's like, you know, blah, blah.
Who is that man?
And he's like, huh?
Mm-hmm.
He's been feeling up on an old man and shit.
And that's like, like, right of my alley.
I mean, I just, it's awesome.
You love the idea of kissing old man.
I love the idea of kissing old man.
I just like, I just like how, I love when a story can grip me in a way where it's, like,
putting you.
in a position where you're like, oh, God.
Yeah, like just.
The stomach drop moments are so good.
I love a nice stomach drop moment.
That's fun.
I think, so this one's among his more beloved.
And then Jared Roberts has some books out, right?
Yep.
He has the machine stories.
The machine stories.
Is that the one that has?
That's right.
So I think it's a collection of some of his kind of more internet stories.
Okay.
Glycemia, I think, was one of the first things.
I think it includes or mostly centers around hidden web page.
It says glycemia, the hidden webpage story that came in February 28th.
So glycemia is like potentially the hidden webpage one.
But Jared Roberts has a bunch of books.
We'll link in the description to his Reddit account as well as I think he has a website.
I'm pretty sure.
In the previous episode, we looked up Jared Roberts' website and came across an adult.
film star that is not
the same Jared Roberts.
We can't confirm that.
Jared Robert might be a Swiss Army
knife. You know?
Entrepreneur. You know, that's a man more
depth than myself. So
but we'll have his writing stuff
linked in the
description if you're interested. I've been
excited to read this one. It's been recommended a lot.
And I really like the hidden web page.
So I'm down to see
what the hype is about. And hey,
if you want to support the channel, consider going to
Patreon.com slash creepcast.
If you want some bonus content just to see some goof and gaffs there.
I got pretty inebriated this night.
Went and saw Ice Cream Man with Isaiah.
It was great.
Uh,
uh,
there's an hour long video on the Patreon of me and Hunter.
Definitely not going to keep the whole hour.
Oh.
Yes, we are.
That was so good.
Not going to keep the whole hour.
I think so.
We talk so much about just movies and like state of horror media.
I think we need to.
Uh, but it was, it's an hour.
of Hunter being furious
outside of a movie theater
and me trying to comprehend what I saw.
It's really like, not to give it the same severity,
but you've ever seen videos of people after like a terrorist attack
and there's some who are like, oh my gosh, freaking out.
We got to cut that.
No.
And there's other people like just days walking around.
That's what it felt like.
Okay.
If you're listening to this on Spotify, Apple Podcasts,
or anywhere you can listen to a podcast.
Please consider giving us a kind rating.
It helps us out.
Isaiah, ready?
I am ready.
What do you think his dad told him that day?
You know what?
I hope this isn't.
I'll put this.
We've read a lot of stories,
but probably more of a handful,
where it's,
my dad told me that I have,
that either how we reproduce is different.
You love the moth story, though?
I do like the moth story.
But I feel like we've ventured into that world of like,
I didn't realize that it,
this age, I had to do this or whatever. It's a, I, I hope it just doesn't, it doesn't roll into that.
I think since it's that day, my prediction would be, it's going to be about like a death that
happened or some kind of accident. It's going to be a misconstrued memory for sure. Yes. Yeah.
Like, almost like, you know, the day your mom died. Well, yeah, she got an accident. That's not really what
happened. The hat man got her. Yeah. The hat man got her. What?
What? So, all right.
My dad finally told me what happened that day.
I went to visit my dad not too long ago.
We had a good relationship.
We just don't talk all that much.
His health is starting to decline.
He was a little wistful.
We're just each having a beer not saying much.
When he says he has something he needs to tell me.
You're old of now.
You might as well know.
I didn't know what he was talking about.
So I asked him.
Remember that time I got home from work real upset and I wouldn't tell you what happened?
I did remember.
It wasn't something I would ever forget.
He wasn't just upset.
He was scared of something.
I never seen Dad scared in my life until then.
He was the kind of guy whose barfights are town legends.
I also remember he told me to never ask him about it.
So I never did.
What he told me disturbed me profoundly.
I've been bothered by it ever since.
I hope writing out will help me deal.
First, a little background.
First incident.
When I was really young, like four or five,
my dad and I lived in a cheap apartment building on the ground floor.
I don't remember much about it.
I know I didn't like it there.
Kids weren't nice to play with.
They'd steal my toys, and it was just a grimy area.
But we were having tough times, and it's what he could afford.
Probably what I remember most about the place
was how I would get woken up from sleep
every once in a while by flashing lights.
I don't remember being too worried about it at first.
I just assumed there was lots of lightning in the area.
I was five.
I didn't know Jack about meteorology.
One night, my dad had my uncle and his wife over
for a crab-legged dinner.
I remember it distinctly because it was the first time
I'd ever eaten crab.
While they were talking,
I just casually mentioned the lightning last night.
Dad said,
There was no lightning last night
I thought he was just clowning around
so I laughed and told him how the flashing lights woke me up
he and my uncle got serious
that freaked me out
because they were always silly when they got together
they asked me more questions about the lights
nothing I recall exactly
but they decided I was probably
seeing headlights from cars driving by
shining on the curtains
I guess I believe them
but after that I'd always get nervous
when the flashing lights would wake me up
because I knew it wasn't lightning anymore.
A few times I called for Dad when it happened,
but when he'd get to my room, there was nothing to see.
He started telling me it was all in my head.
We moved out of that apartment after a year or so
when Dad's handyman business picked up.
The flashing stopped when we left.
So I came to believe it was a combination of passing cars
and my imagination.
It wasn't something I ever gave much thought to again until recently.
Is that somebody taking a picture of them outside the window?
Oh.
Oh, I didn't even think of that.
I was wondering if that was like some fucking creep.
Well, depending on how high up they are.
I know it's an apartment.
He said ground floor.
Wow, the muffar's getting.
Oh.
Some dudes on the street definitely be like, hmm.
Did you ever see that web animation, the boy in the camera?
No.
The kid in the camera, I think.
It's this really creepy like claymation, just some, I forget who uploaded it to YouTube.
And it's done.
in like a children's cartoon
where this boys visited at night
but like this giant bee thing
that's like hey kids you want to
come with me on a trip or whatever
but then periodically there's like a flash
and the kid's like that's kind of weird
and it'll hard cut to polaroids
of like this kid in his bedroom
and then walking in the woods and stuff like that
it's so menacing
but yeah it reminded me of that
oh that's terrifying
the idea of like a creep
you know
taking pictures of you is horrifying
the only reason I'm like skeptical if it is that
is just because the uncle was even like
what unless they're just like talking to each other
and they're just like
I think somebody's taking a fucking picture of my son
why don't you buy some blinds
yeah
it'd be all right
some curtains
I'm
yeah so
um
I think
the best
maybe not
the best. One of the best stories we've read
on the channel,
PINPAL, had a very similar
which, you know,
don't know it's a picture yet, but
there's something so menacing about that idea
of like a grown man, just kind of like
for whatever reason, orbiting a child,
you know?
I think it's still my goat.
Pen pal? I mean, that's a completely
respectable take. I will say someone,
I was listening to a guy talk about the show the other
day and he said that
creep cast
one of the big reasons for its success is likely pin pal happening so early.
And I think that's probably true because a lot of people are just like,
oh, we'll check out the show, see what it is.
And then like they get pin pal.
And they get me and you not only laughing,
but like I was crying at the end of the story.
I remember, like,
I remember like going back and seeing a clip of it.
And I was just like,
I heard of that fucking Isaiah is like crying at the end.
I was like, every time I watch it,
I was just like, look around.
almost getting the fucking egg or something like that.
That's my coast.
I mean, it was an emotional ending.
Oh, it is.
It's a fan, it's fantastic.
Yeah.
It's awesome.
I do think the payoff of everything.
I love what's so great about, I mean,
this is the way just we got in the first instance,
so I don't know what's going on.
I do love when somebody takes a,
is a child in a story and gives you a child's,
perspective and then his fucking hit in the face with a bat called reality.
Yeah.
Whatever to where it's like, oh, it's like a monster or something.
It's like, no, it's just a fucking creepy weird dude who got hyper fixated on you and the
kind of like relationship that you guys had of like with these letters and everything.
It's just I it's fascinating.
Yeah.
Really, really fun.
Well, I mean, Pimpal did not to just keep talking about Pimpel, but Pimpel did such an
amazing job at building that dread for years of the character's life.
And you've got like he started stating this girl.
he hits him with a car and then starts texting him and he thinks he's talking her and stuff like that
and the ending now my gosh he grabbed he grabbed his boy and wrapped him in his arms and
had himself buried alive my gosh and i will say uh to plug the patreon again but we have an
awesome interview with dathan yeah we got we got and that was that was a actual amazing treat
we're hoping to do some more author interviews but like dathan was it was really really fun to hear his
perspective of writing it back then and stuff.
So anyways, second isn't.
Hey, maybe it's a pedophile.
Taking a picture of him.
Never know.
It could be.
Second incident.
One time I was helping my dad out on a job.
This was a bigger job, kind of rebuilding a whole house.
So we had a few other guys working with us.
Some of them I knew and some I'd ever seen before.
I was used to it.
That's what he always did on bigger jobs.
I was setting off on my own eating my lunch and was listening to my C.D.
Walkman.
Dad generally didn't eat lunch.
You just get too into the work.
So he was still busy on site.
Suddenly, I noticed a guy walking toward me from the general direction of the site.
I didn't remember seeing this guy before, but he was making a beeline straight for me.
He was an oldish guy.
His head was shaved.
He was wearing a Ramon's t-shirt.
He sat down beside me, way too close, and didn't say a word.
I took off my headphones because I didn't want to be rude and said,
Hi.
Told me my dad was looking for me and I should get heading.
back as soon as I'd finish my sandwich.
I was the plan anyway, but
I said that was fine.
To make things less awkward, I said
I like the Ramones.
It didn't seem to even know who they were.
You're so right.
Well, I looked up and you did, and I was like,
he said inside me way too close
and I was like,
the Ramon's
t-shirt, though, to be fair,
you want it makes me think of is that like
motherfucker's broke.
You know, even though he was a kid, broke into the house and grabbed the, grabbed like a Ramon's shirt from him.
Yeah.
Well, that way too tight.
That or he's just like scrounging up clothes he can find.
Oh, he's done to dive in.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
After sitting with me a few moments longer while I ate my sandwich uncomfortably, he got up and started walking away.
I was relieved.
Started to put the headphones back on when he stopped suddenly.
I don't know why, but it freaked me out.
I froze.
He turned around and fixed me with the most hate.
stare I'd ever seen.
I didn't know what it felt like to be hated until then.
It was like you wanted me dead.
I remember thinking what I should do when he attacks me.
But he didn't attack.
He just shouted,
So one's been sleeping in your bed and I don't like it.
What you mean by that?
Hey, dad.
Hey,
Hey,
Hey,
Hey,
Hey,
Hey,
uh,
whew,
he,
he stalked off.
leaving me puzzled and terrified.
It was probably 85 degrees out, but I was shivering.
Put the rest of my sandwich away and went back to work.
I asked my dad who that guy was a little later,
said he had no idea what I was talking about.
I described the guy.
Dad said nobody like that even worked on the site.
At the time, I figured it was just some weird drunk.
Now it has a whole new meaning.
Things I didn't catch before stand out.
Like, my sandwich was still in my box when that guy talked to me.
How'd he know what I brought for lunch?
Oh.
You're going to be kind of sick of this story turned into is like a fuck that fucking Hugh Jackman film, Prisoners.
He captures the fucking guy.
He beats the shit out of this pedophile.
Oh, you mean the dad, though.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Prisoners is such a good movie, man.
Because right now in my mind, in my mind's eye, I was, uh, I keep seeing this like weird guy since there's been two instances now.
Not always he's just Paul Dano in that film.
that's who I'm well he did say shaved head an older shaved head guy it's still going to be
paul dana that's fun a bald paul dana then you know i like i like tarantino but him saying
paul dano is the terrible actor's probably the worst take he's ever had he's a fucking idiot who cares
yeah but i mean if you make glorious bastards you can say a lot
you can get away i like paul dano i that part in prisoners though he sits there and paul he's like
fucking hugh jackman grabs and they go between those cars whatever yeah he's just like where the
fucking shit whatever does that he's he's just like where the fucking shit whatever does that
And he's like, she didn't scream when I took her.
And he whispers that to her.
I remember when I first looked movie, I was like,
ah, like I was like, I was like, kill him.
Exactly.
What the fuck?
Yeah.
And then he like, he puts him in that shower that's only scalding water or freezing water.
And he's flipping it back and forth.
This movie isn't necessarily comparable.
But just in the theme of like child abduction or whatever, lovely bones.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Did you like that movie?
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, I liked it.
Watching the nuance performance of, like, Hugh Jackman going, like, over the top, you, like, there's this deep desperation versus Mark Wahlberg is so infinitely different.
Yeah.
Marwa was like, holy crap.
I can't believe my baby's gone.
They just my kid?
That's wild.
That's crazy.
It's absolutely crazy.
And, yeah, Hugh Jackman's, like, fucking giving the performance.
That scene where he's, like, he has the hammer and he's, like, breaking the sink and freaking out.
Yeah, and hitting the wall next to me.
like that. Jake Jelan Hall's agreeing that too.
Whatever. This is a story podcast, not a movie podcast.
Yeah, yeah, but such a banger.
Go watch Prisoners. If you haven't seen
it, that's such a cool movie.
I will say, though, Stanley Tucci and
Loved Bones plays a good fucking creep.
Yeah, yeah. I will put it up, put him up,
you know, give him praise for that.
He's a good actor. Great actor. Yeah.
But no, I'm hoping, this could be an interesting story.
I'm into it.
If there would be a thing where guys, like, I didn't tell you.
But a guy was, like, beating his putt outside.
window and come to the grave the site whatever so me and the boys me and your uncle like found
him yeah and then we kept them we kept him held prisoner for like six months because you like stole
your sister or something that'd be kind that'd be kind of be hot maybe i would like that kind of
story oh yeah well i mean like where is she i mean that kind of thing like it's not unheard
maybe not the interrogation side of it but um um
my dad would tell me stories about like growing up in east kentucky like if there's a guy that
like messed with kids he would just be gone and people wouldn't ask questions about it so
it's not oh he'd murder him not my dad but like is your father murder a pedophile probably not probably
i mean it'd be cool if he did it would be really sweet like if my dad was like yeah i'm trying to make it
a lot more cooler than you doing like a force wave i saw i saw this for people to listen
audio, he just did like a, you won't touch kids anymore.
No, no, no. I mean, I mean they would just vanish and people wouldn't ask a lot of questions
kind of thing. If I did find out if my dad was like, yeah, there was this guy that was like
perving on you and me and. Me? No, no, no. Like if my dad, you're saying that your dad's talking
to you. If my dad talked to me now, it was like, yeah, when you were a kid, there was this guy
messing with you and me and the boys killed him. I'd be like, that's so awesome. It would be
sweet. I would, I would like them. I mean, it wouldn't have.
happen, but I'd like to think that my dad would do something
similar, but I don't think it would have. I wish that my dad, the
scene in casino, Robert De Niro, they
take the game, like the cheaters. The cheaters.
The cheaters in the casino, they take him the back room
and he's just like, what hand do you do it with? He's like, my left, they put
on the table, he's just like, go, go, go, whatever.
He's do that with like a pedophile's balls and talk.
Like a fucking, like, a, what,
the spike mallet used for, like, uh,
The meat, the meat, uh, meat tinneurizer.
Yeah.
If you do that to a pedophile's ball.
I think you should mutilate them.
I think it's a good.
I think you smash it all down and it's totally useless and you're like, all right, go ahead.
Have fun.
Because also to me, you kill them.
You get, that's too easy.
You get out.
It's done.
I like the way you think.
Mutilate the balls, the cock, everything.
Splice it down the fucking middle, like a goddamn Peruvian Sunday.
Split that motherfucker right up.
Have them walk around with that forever.
Every time takes out of his pants.
whatever he looks in the mirror, he looks like he's watching District 9.
Holds up a fucking thing, a cat food up to his cock and balls.
I mean, they're...
Yeah, these fucking prunes.
I mean, it's like, you know, I mean, obviously Z's a pedophile bad, but like it is the...
It is hard to imagine a level of evil beyond, like, getting sexual gratification at the cost of a child.
You know, it's like the most evil.
I'm getting upset now.
Yeah, there's really no level.
No, no.
I'm getting upset because there has not been...
a single prisoner-s-style story.
There's tons of pedophiles.
And never once do we get a satisfying prisoner-style
story.
Torture segment.
I still think that you could-
Are you saying in these stories?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
I still think you can do an effective horror story
where it's like bopping back between stuff.
Almost like, imagine like a combined story
that's like the movie Spotlight,
where it's like people trying to uncover,
I mean, not even like the Catholic pedophiles, right?
And then you have a thing where you get the perspective of a dad who's like, just let it go.
And you think you're like, how the fuck can you like dismiss this?
What the fuck is this?
And he's just like, I don't want you to know, but I've had a pedophile chain down the basement for 26 years.
Wouldn't that be kind of sick?
That would be cool.
It's like that movie.
See, I'm just going to keep going to move.
I'm stupid like that.
But the fucking movie Eyes of My Mother.
You ever seen that one?
I haven't seen that one, no.
Awesome.
Really, really good.
I don't want to spoil it because I really want you to watch it.
But if you know, I'm just going to say, I's my mother.
Watch that movie.
Okay.
To be fair, though, it's kind of similar.
But yeah, eyes my mother.
Check it out.
Really good.
I feel like given the Rambo Kitty episode that Isaiah's dad have,
he could maybe have a Christmas home in.
I know.
I mean, dad has.
I have a feeling that you might, your dad might have killed a pedophile.
I mean, you definitely, there was a thing with you, that homeless guy,
Mr. Beans or whatever the fuck was name was
The Can Man. The Can Man.
At that house.
Mr. Bean, yeah.
Same idea. I knew what he met.
I don't think it'd be while I was alive.
I know my dad used to be a rough guy before I was born.
My grandfather especially.
But I wouldn't say an act of love like that.
It would be impossible for a time.
An act of love.
Yeah.
your dad just has pedophile blood all over him
and you go up to your dad you do this.
Heart you daddy.
I mean, like I said, now if you told me that,
I'd be like, you're so cool.
Oh, yeah.
That's definitely a beer clink kind of moment.
For sure.
That is, I mean, it's also like,
it's biblically sound, I would argue.
Because there's one part in the Bible
where Jesus is like talking to the children
and he looks at the disciples and he says,
if anyone were to harm one of these children,
it would be better for a stone to be placed around his neck
and he'd be thrown to the sea.
So Jesus is like,
hey, if anyone ever hurts kids, just...
So, you know, I'd argue that's Christian doctrine.
I'd argue the meat tinderizer is Christian doctrine.
The meat tinderizer, District 9, face.
Make it look like one of those prones.
There you go.
Who knows? Maybe it'll go.
So two instances.
is first incident
you know fucking
Polaroids
second incident
motherfucker's showing up
with a you know
Blitz Creek Bob shirt
and a fucking
knows that he has
bologian cheese
and he's like
how'd you know that is
someone's sleeping in your bed
and I don't like it
oh
oh no I say it
what what if it's a
fucking deranged guy
who's watching
who's trying to protect him
from a pedophile
who's in his
what if it's like a crazy guy
who's obsessed with this kid
but then he's just like
someone's in
in your room. You're like, all right, so you're a creep.
And he's like, no. It's like sloth from the Goonies.
Baby Ruth. Whatever. And then everyone thinks he's the one.
Bad guy. Yeah. He's the one who's trying to help him. This guy's like the John
coffee of the story. Yeah, yeah. Falsely accused kind of guy, for sure. Could be. Could be.
Something nefarious is going on, but he may not be. Yeah, we're right at the beginning,
but I tell you, my mind is going. Yeah. I mean, it's a good setup. It's fun.
It's time to talk about something scary. Your health.
I know I don't go in the doctor as much as I should.
If I'm feeling sick, I'll just lie in bed and sleep it away.
But that's only because I don't want to have to deal with the appointments, insurance, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
That's why I have Zock Doc.

Back to our spooky story.
Dad's story.
When I was 15, Dad was called out on a job some houseway on the other side of the bay.
In the town I grew up in, you have two sides.
One side of the bay has all the beaches and the mall.
The other side has downtown and lots of woods.
The old apartment was on the beachy side.
The house he was called to was a quarter of the way to the next town on the woodsy side.
So he showed up in his van with all his tools.
The front yard is really overgrown.
No vehicles in the driveway except a resting hot.
hunk of what used to be a 70s model Chevy.
The house is in pretty bad shape, but he went to the front door.
Before he could knock, saw a note telling him to come right in, and they'd be back soon.
He didn't like going into someone's home without them there, because he didn't want to be
accused of anything, but he driven far, so he went ahead.
Got to work on repairing some woodrod around the window frames.
He'd been there for nearly an hour, and he thought he heard someone.
He went to check
There's still no car in the driveway
Except for his van
Hello
He heard what sounded like a door slam
Dad was not the kind of guy to get nervous
He was a local legend for his bar fights
But he told me he was starting to get creeped out
And that just pissed him off
So he started stomping around the house
You saw the back door was wide open
leading into the overgrown backyard
He wondered if it was just the wind
moving the door
closed it and was going back into work
when he decided to just look the place over
just in case
he looks around downstairs
there's nothing much to see
the house is in bad shape
but it's furnished
the place is kept fairly clean and tidy
the electricity still works
someone's definitely living there
just not able to keep the place up
he's pretty much satisfied his concerns
but he goes upstairs to look around anyway
upstairs is much the same as down clean and tidy just in need of repairs something doesn't feel right
about the place to him dad's ever been much of an intuitive kind of guy so those must be some bad vibes
the last room at the end of the upstairs hall is closed it's the only door that was closed it's jammed in
the frame somehow but he gets it open it's just a bedroom all painted yellow with yellow furniture
He spot some woodrod around the window frames upstairs too.
He was told there'd only be three windows to do and this one made four, but he checks it out.
When he does, the sill just lifts right off and there are papers and things stuffed between the walls.
He's seen it all.
Doesn't surprise him.
He pulls the papers out because he plans to go ahead and do this window too because he's like that.
He wouldn't ask for more money.
He just wanted the whole job done.
when he pulls the papers out
he sees it's mostly photographs
oh no
oh no
dad's big on privacy
someone called him to this job by the way
yeah
um-hmm
dad's big on privacy
he just happened to see the photographs
and he knew he was looking at something bad
he started flipping through them
and we're all pretty much the same
the back of each picture
is dated but every one
of them was a picture of a little
boys sleeping.
Bruh.
Oh.
I knew those fucking...
I know when these motherfuckers are sniffing around some Polaroid flashes earlier, dude.
Oh.
Dad recognized me in that ground floor bedroom right away.
He remembered my stories about the flashing lights.
It hadn't been in my head at all.
Someone had been taking pictures of me sleep for almost a year.
Holy shit.
Told me there weren't any pictures of other boys either.
whoever took the photos was only taking picks of me
he called the police of course
the listed owner for the house was an elderly couple living in Vancouver
they used to summer in the home but just hadn't gotten around to it in years
they didn't even notice they were still paying the electricity bill
they had no idea about the pictures or hiring my dad
it was a dead end I had so many questions after you told me this
for one why would someone who is so far away from our apartment drive
a 30 minute drive at night to take pictures of just me.
How they'd even know me?
How they fixate on that one apartment or kid?
Why call my dad out to find the stash of pictures after a decade of leaving us alone?
Dad actually had an answer for one of those questions.
In a way, I find this creepier.
Turns out he went to the wrong address.
Oh.
You wrote it down wrong.
When police...
Oh, I...
Okay, thank you.
I tried to scroll and it completely deleted the tab one second.
Stand by.
When police checked his answering machine tapes for clues,
he was actually called to a much closer home by a completely innocent guy.
Stumbled on this house and stashed for pictures completely by a random misunderstanding.
So then who left the note on the front door?
I'll like everything besides the thing about like not being intentional for the person to find it or something.
I feel like that'll, I feel like that will amount to something.
You think so?
Yeah, I don't think that's going to be a complete happenstance.
I, I mean, I'm, I'm so in.
I, I, it's so fucking creepy and invasive.
It's, these kinds of stories are just, I love the shit.
Super creepy.
The, uh, the, we made the pen pal comp earlier, which is fitting.
Yeah.
This idea, too, of like, I love, uh, I love, uh, I love,
I love the how like it's so wide open right now.
Yeah.
Like we don't really know.
I think that we're being led to make it feel like this is like a creep or something.
I mean, it is a creep of some kind.
But I'm wondering, do they go, like, why?
Like, I love the question of like, why him?
Yeah.
Pin pal, you know, was a kid because he had correspondence there.
And I think like that just caused the guy to like just become obsessed with him.
Because he actually wrote back to him and stuff.
And there was like, he believed that there was some kind of community.
or relationship, quote-unquote relationship form there.
So I'm curious here.
Is it something like not necessarily a long-lost brother or like just is there something,
some kind of cross between these threads that like the dad hasn't been fully transparent
about either or whatever, which is also maybe like why he hasn't.
Obviously not to scare a kid.
You don't want to just be like, hey, by the way, some guy was taking pictures of here or whatever.
But I do wonder if there's a.
I mean, it's also like if that was your son, right?
I tell him.
Yeah, once your son's old enough.
I tell him right then.
Yeah.
Well, at 15, 15's that medium age where it's like, do you tell him right now?
I would tell the motherfucker at 8.
There's someone outside.
I don't see the harm in being like, by the way, buddy, someone's been taking pictures of yet.
Because also, two, one, there's no way a child's going to be able to understand fully the scope of that.
But then also, if you see something weird, tell dad.
Yeah.
So, you know, he was eight or however old he was, the dad did not know it was someone taking pictures, right?
It wasn't until he was like 15.
Yeah, it's 15.
He went to the house and saw it.
Because at the time, I think the dad was legitimately like, oh, it's probably had lights or something.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Well, I'm still.
Well, I think that I think that I think the, imagine your kid is like there was flashing outside my window and you're like, probably the lights or something, right?
You wouldn't immediately jump to.
There's a guy with a camera outside.
I think just with.
what they were insinuating, at least through the earlier text, was that because he included,
which also, they include that fucking uncle, man, we haven't heard from the uncle in a bit.
I'm not saying it's the uncle, but I'm just saying like, I, we don't know the full picture yet.
But anyways, it seemed like when they said that, it definitely made, it made it seem like in the text,
the uncle and him were like, like, looking at each other.
They were concerned, but I don't think they knew yet.
And also the quote unquote, oh, once dad's business picked up, he moved, I think the motherfucker just moved.
is how I read it.
Or you tell your kid, oh, yeah, well, why are we moving?
Oh, I got a promotion.
We're going to move somewhere nicer.
That's the kind of lie that you would tell your kid to where you're like,
well, I'm not going to freak him out and be like, well, someone's chasing you.
So we have to move now.
You're in constant danger.
Like that wouldn't be good.
But I remember, uh, also end of part one, by the way.
Yeah, yeah, into part one.
Um, when I was a kid, I remember there was a guy who started to come around church.
Can man.
No.
who was creepy.
And then my parents were just like,
hey, don't go around that guy.
Creepy how?
He was just,
or no, I'm conflating two stories.
The first time when I was,
because the second time I was old enough,
they just told me what was going on.
But when I was like 11,
I want to say 10 or 11,
this guy started to come around
who was like really eager to like come.
come and like talk to the kids and be around the kids and stuff like that. This one wasn't a church.
This was when I was playing golf. So it'd be like at the golf course. This guy kept being like,
oh, I can show the kids how to blah, blah, blah. And then one of the older guys from the community
came to my parents and was like, yeah, keep that guy like away. So my parents were just like,
you see that guy? Come find one of us. We're not going to leave you alone. Stuff like that.
They didn't go into detail. It turns out later that guy had like a molestation charge in the past.
so and then I think unrelated to my parents someone like ran that guy out and was like do not come around here again which is cool
but then later on there was a dude who started coming around church and he was like really eager to like do stuff in like the children's ministry and stuff like that
and then my pastor finds out that this guy had a like I don't know if it was straight up CP but like possession of material and stuff like
that. So my past, my pastor calls in, uh, the FBI and they raid his house and find actual
CP and now that guy's in like federal prison forever. Um, but I do, I do wonder, I don't think
you have to completely fucking, I don't think you have to give children gory details to make them
frightened. Exactly. But I do think like a level of transparent. I do wonder how much of like,
how much it's of people just like not having that like uncomfortable conversation has led to like
children not realizing that they should have told. Yeah. I didn't know. I, you know, I, you know,
I didn't think anything of it.
Well, that's my point.
Like, that second one happened when I was like 14.
And my parents were like, yeah, that guy's a petto.
Like, I think 14's unacceptable.
But when I was 10, it was like, hey, don't be around that guy.
I'll be with you.
I'll always be near or like your coach or, you know, someone trustworthy.
Just don't be around him.
So stuff like that, I feel like is enough to tell a kid without being like, he wants to touch you.
There was one time when I was like eight.
Oh, boy.
I went we used to go to a Bennett Springs and camp which was like it's like uh I don't know what the
I can't remember what the river is called in Missouri but it's a big Missouri like Missouri River and
there's like it's one of those things where it's like there's a bunch of different campsites
that's like kind of the economy of the area it's kind of like by a lake of the Ozarks area so
it's like the economy of that area is just like different campsites everyone goes down there
during the summers whatever you go floating in canoes and all that kind of stuff we used to go
on there every summer for like a weekend but one year was fishing with my dad which i just didn't
i've never been a big ironically i've never been a big hunter or fisher like fishing guy whatever
and my dad was always into it but i'm a runtime was fishing when i was younger whatever my dad's like
hold on you get something from the truck he's probably just grabbing beer or something who knows
if i'm sitting there and i was like put my my uh pishing pool and it got caught right in between the
underside of my pants like in my taint area.
The hook did.
And I was like,
like this, whatever.
This guy,
innocent enough,
well,
maybe is enough came up and he's like,
he's like,
oh,
are he tangled up?
And he,
yeah,
whatever.
He's like,
oh,
I think it's like hooked up,
whatever.
And he was like,
he was actually trying to help you get the hook.
I see.
But I was like sitting there like,
grabbing my head of this and my dad came out of the corn with like two
bush lights.
And he was like,
what the,
fuck.
And the guy's like, oh, he's hooked up.
He's like, motherfucker, you need to get away from him.
Whatever.
And I was like, hold this fish.
Fish in my hand would do it.
And the guy was like, dude, whatever.
I was just trying to help me.
He was legitimately just trying to help.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He'd never even touched me.
He was fucking with the fishing.
But he was trying to, yeah, yeah.
He was trying to cut the line or something.
Very unfortunate.
Yeah, it was horrible timing.
But yeah, ever since.
my dad like literally got on his knee and he's like what happened i was trying to catch
catch a fish got it hooked he's like what did he do and it's like he's just trying to
get the hook and the fish and the what was fucked up though too is like that that
i don't know if this is just like midwest mentality shit but both guys just stood there and then they
like just kind of like you get you can't it's impossible to be angry fly fishing
no my dad tried to do an angry fly fishing thing
We sit there like this and he's like looking at the motherfucker doing this.
You got to constantly be doing this weird little whip thing.
He's like whipping the fucking thing.
It looks whimsical.
You can't sit there and be fly fishing like, oh,
whimsical and sit there and be mean bugging motherfucker like this.
So that's the closest pedophile thing to a pedophile story I have.
That's good.
That's, I'm happy for you.
I'm glad that's the extent that it's been.
Yeah.
But my, I mean, to be clear.
To be clear, I don't have a pedophile story.
I think by the way that you're presenting yourself and the things,
the amount of interactions you've had with people.
Just two.
Three.
No, the can man was a dream I had that you.
Motherfuckers, that's a dream.
There was a,
there was a homeless guy living in the house.
And you know,
this is actually new information.
A lot of people because that episode's gone.
What?
Yeah.
Remember, that's one that got taken down.
Oh, was it?
Oh, yeah.
So people have no idea what we're talking about.
right now. But yeah, my grandfather had an old house that me and my dad were checking out. And while we
were trying to... And this is your dream. No, this is real. While we were trying to see if it was
salvageable, there was a, we had seen signs that a homeless guy had been living in there. Then we
come back a week later. We cleared all the stuff out. Uh, we come back a week later and that's
back. Like his stuff, he had been sleeping there again. Uh, there wasn't a way to like, all the windows
were cracked. There was no way to, like, seal up the house. Um,
But then I would have dreams about that house,
and then I would have a dream of a man looking at me
over the top of the staircase.
So I never saw a man in the house,
but there were signs of a guy in the house,
and then I would have those dreams.
So you're the one who elaborated to say
I was molested by a homeless man
and my grandfather's abandoned home.
I never said that you're molested.
I just said, Isaiah.
What happened?
Nothing.
That's up a long time for you to say nothing.
You had to swallow back.
something. Nothing happened. We're re-swollen. All right, I actually got that.
That was disgusting. That one's fun. I was right here. I would be the victim. I don't care.
I think the, uh, I think that the, uh, part one's fun. How many parts is, is it seven parts?
Is that what you said? They're all pretty about that length. Oh, okay. I'm, I'm curious.
Like I said, if we go into a place where the dad ends up catching this guy and stuff the fucking crazy,
it turns out he's been fucking he's been keeping that dude
I's my mother
I was my mother that's all I gotta say
bar two
I got a lot of really insightful comments and questions
from the last post I made
you guys saw things from the perspectives
I just didn't think of and that got me thinking
there are things I really need to know
so here's an update on what I was able to learn in the last few days
I feel more confused now than I did before
maybe you'll all see it more than I do
this is very pimple in like the every post he remembers more and talks about more and stuff like that
which depending on how long ago 10 years ago this is I mean when did pit pal come out probably 2015
era right yeah maybe a little at the same time I would say yeah actually that this was also
once again not to say that this is stealing from that I'm saying like it's just that era of like
in that era it was always like because we've read stuff that's always been like 10 years ago it's
like your guys's comments really bubble up
blah, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, wow, it made me think about this other time.
That's a huge trope from that time.
Something I didn't really think of until the author of The Fermi Paradox, he posted an R-slash creepcast a lot.
What's his name, Harry? Grand Thef Motto. He posted, he was talking about the Fermi Paradox in the
Creepcast subreddit, and because he was talking about writing stories around that time, and he said
typically what he would do, which is why I assume a lot of them will do, is you write a part one.
and if it gets no traction,
then just move on to another one.
But if it picks up,
that's when you're like,
hey, guys,
coming back for part two and stuff like that.
So I think a lot of them were kind of testing the water.
Oh, sure.
Concepts and stuff.
Yeah, yeah.
And then if there's interest, like,
hey, so now here's these other details
and you can get more into the story that you want to.
It makes sense.
Rather than writing like a two hour long piece,
no one may read, you know?
I think Pennville came in 2001.
2001?
or sorry, 2011.
Okay.
I was to say, I think that it was definitely in that...
You published a book in 2012, so I think he was writing it like...
Oh, okay. So it was probably 2011.
Okay.
That's like...
Yeah, I remember talking to Nathan about that.
That's like not pre-creepy pasta totally, but almost pre-creepypola.
That's old.
Old from the internet, yeah.
Well, that's definitely after the...
That's after the hype of like Jeff the Killer and Slynderman.
Jeff the killer was 2012, right?
Wow, really.
Slitterman was earlier, though, than that.
20, 10, I think.
Are you sure?
I'm pretty sure that's right.
Or girl, that's up there.
Yeah, yeah.
Golden Age.
First, I tried talking to my dad, but he wasn't in the mood.
Shut it right down.
I pressed him a little on the flashing lights,
and he told me I should ask my uncle Matt,
so I did.
Uncle Matt and my dad get along great.
Never seen them fight in my life.
They're very different.
Matt's easy going, joky,
always has a kind of word for us.
everyone. That's why I was shocked
when he actually got mad.
He told me to never ask him about it again and to
leave him alone. They might
have straight up killed this guy.
I mean, at the same time, too,
I think I'd be happy. Would you be happy with being like,
ah, it's fine. Don't even worry about it.
Actually, I'd be like, just fucking tell me what happened.
Yeah, but again, assuming they
killed him, which I don't think they did because that kind of
removes the threat from the story, but assuming they killed
him, you would not want to tell more people than you have to that you murdered him. Yeah. Yeah. That's true.

Warby Parker is here to help. Warby Parker didn't just make buying glasses easier. They made the entire
better. Now at Warby Parker stores you can even get your eye exam, meaning you don't have to go to multiple spots or guess if your prescriptions up to date.

And a quick trip to their website can show you how easy they've made the glasses buying process. Their virtual try-on feature lets you try before you buy right from your phone. That would have been the end right there, but my biweekly phone call to my mom was due and I didn't
really have anything else to talk to her about. So I told her what dad told me, what I remembered,
and what happened with Uncle Matt.
What the hell were you thinking?
She scolded, pretty typical of her.
He still feels it's his fault.
The hushed way she said it, like someone might over here, chilled me.
I didn't even know what she was talking about.
There weren't some odd things in my family that I kind of knew, but no one really talked about.
This is the version of it.
My mom gave me.
I will say I do like these kind of the first incident.
Like maybe not the first incident, the second incident, whatever.
That's fine.
but I do like the what dad said.
Different accounts.
What mom said.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like that as like, because there's just a lot of different angles you can do.
And I like that it's also all interpersonal tied in this family.
But they each have different perspectives that reveal different things.
That's good.
That's a good motif, I think.
And also it's believable.
I remember when we were reading Pimpel our first time through, we were so mad at the mother.
Because we're like, why isn't mom telling him this stuff?
He needs to know, blah, blah, blah.
but then we get to the end of the story and it's like, oh, because she knows that Josh has been dead in a box, you know, and like he doesn't know, so she doesn't want to break it to him.
And that made like her apprehension understandable in retrospect.
I just love these family mysteries because there's obviously something much bigger at play that they think that like either you should never know or you can't handle.
And that is like just extremely alluring.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's really fun.
What mom said.
my dad and uncle mad had a younger sister named flora i never knew her as aunt flora because she was gone before i was born
when flora was eight or nine weird things started happening to her my dad only talked about him when he'd
been drinking gin mom said jim made him brood she used to hide his gin because it'd freak her out
when he talked about these things like this one time my dad woke up because he heard noises in the
kitchen came out to see what was up flora was making a peanut butter and
sugar sandwich in the middle of the night. He asked her what she was doing because if their mom caught
them in the kitchen at that hour, they'd have their butts reddened. Flora told him she had to make a sandwich
and a picture for Mr. Chod-Froy. What did the fuck is Chod-Froy mean? I assume it's supposed to be a
name, but probably a child pronouncing it wrong. Okay. Mom said dad would shudder when he said that part of
the story. It's always got real low when he'd say the name.
So my dad got mad at Flora because he thought she was being dumb or half dreaming.
Then she showed him the picture she drew.
It was a drawing of a boy sleeping with Matt written above it.
My dad.
Do you think that's the creeps drawing?
It says she drew.
Oh, she drew?
Okay.
Well, I just thought it was.
It's like, oh, a picture she drew.
He thought it was.
But it's like a fucking, the guy's rep.
Like the visualization is almost like.
a child's rendering and then he like gave it to her here give it to your brother or something like that
my dad being the oldest child was very protective of Matt and flora he immediately felt something wrong
was here he took the picture and tore it up and he told flora she had to get back to bed right
away she told him mr chodfroy would be mad because she promised him dad asked her who this
person was and what he looked like because he meant to tell their mom she said she didn't know what he
look like, but he talked to her from the drain in the bathroom sink.
He told her all sorts of things, and she'd been talking to him every night for a month.
At this point, my mom said she didn't want to talk about it anymore.
It's given her the willies.
She didn't even like saying the name.
Mom was always kind of superstitious about things, like she'd be afraid to say the names of
certain diseases.
She never said cancer, as if saying it causes it.
She said just saying the name Chod Freud made her feel like she was being watched.
It asked her more questions and she kept going.
She said my dad didn't believe Flora.
She must have been dreaming or just imagined the whole thing.
He took the sandwich and ate it himself after sending Flora back to bed so his mom wouldn't find it.
He remembered the sandwich well because peanut butter and sugar was not something they ever made in the household.
He had no idea where she'd hurt it.
Every little sting like that, you're just like, fuck man.
It's always, I like it.
It's always just a little peppered on there too.
He has no idea where she even heard of that.
It's just, it's 100% Mr.
fucking Chodd Foy's just like,
Peanut butter and sugar,
it very good on a sandwich.
Yeah.
Chod Froy.
Chod Froy is just such a gross.
He forgot all about what happened for a few days or weeks.
Until one night,
he woke up to pee and could hear funny noises
as he got near the bathroom.
The light wasn't on.
The floor was.
was in there alone. He stopped outside the door to listen. She was whispering a whole conversation
in there. He figured she was half asleep and didn't know what she was doing. He went into the bathroom to get her.
Then he heard it himself. There really was a voice coming from the drain. Mom said he would get a
distant look when he talked about this and just set the gin down like he couldn't drink anymore.
and my dad can always drink more.
The voice he heard sounded cold and metallic.
Probably coming through the pipes, he figured,
but it scared the crap out of him.
What it was actually saying was even worse.
Mom said he tried to imitate the metallic voice, saying,
Come outside, Flora.
Come outside.
No one has to sleep out here.
Flora whispered into the sink that she couldn't,
because her brother might catch her.
and the strange voice told her
he never should have ate my sandwich
hearing it made my dad's hair
stand on end my mom said
it's the most scared he'd ever been
not one to freeze my dad
pulled floor out of the bathroom and slammed the door
he warned her never to talk
to Mr. Chodfroy again
because he was bad
he ended up telling his mom and they found
where some pipes had been messed with under the house
they also found
some drawings of my dad and Uncle Matt's
sleeping
Dude, my boy,
Chodfroy is fucked.
They gotta kill this guy.
Also, like,
like some guy, like, undoing a pipe
and being like,
flora,
and calling her name
is so fucking on.
Oh, my God.
You did that in the sexy neighbor, too,
and it's really effective.
Oh, yeah.
Guy over the walls
was speaking to the girl behind it
and he like,
oh,
he would suck his tongue out.
like the doorway or something
but yeah
you know what Chalk Freud
kind of sounds like to me
what kind of sounds like Shada
Shod of Freuda
Yeah
What is that I mean in German
It's like my darling right
No it's the
It's like the feeling of joy you get
When something bad happens to someone else
Interesting
Shad Freud
That's kind of interesting
Sean Frey. I mean, it does sound like it.
That's what it sounds like I said. I looked at
the spelling's weird, but like, again,
he's pronouncing it the way.
Also, I mean,
this is obvious, but it's just worth saying
this is 100% the same guy that's fucking with our
protagonist now. I don't know because
I think it is because the guy was wearing a
Ramon shirt. I think that the Ramon shirt's going to pop up
some sometime between these, but also
he said he was an oldish guy. Yeah,
but this guy, which is not
impossible, but this guy would have had to have been like
maybe 18 when he's
creeping on flora you know which isn't impossible could no i know what you mean yeah yeah you always
kind of picture like an older an older dude yeah they were all burned right away and his mom forbade them
to talk about it they didn't handle scandals like that too well at the time but my dad saw some of
the drawings before they were burned and they weren't drawn by flora i had never heard anything
about any of this before dad and uncle mad almost never talked about flora anyway when they did
it was always cryptic i didn't know what this had to do with me but
my hand was shaking holding the phone I thought she was done she said that was just the beginning
my mom usually gets tired of talking after 10 minutes or so I was surprised
maybe she needed to get it out of her system she said that after that flora used to complain about
flora used to complain about flashing lights in her bedroom everyone just figured she was
seeing the light from the lighthouse because it was still active back then
she complained about it for nearly two years saying she
had trouble sleeping.
Her mom got sick of it and put thicker curtains in her bedroom and she kept complaining.
They ended up getting her sleeping mask.
Problem solved.
Not long after this, dad, Matt, and Flore went to a friend's house to hang out because he
had a record player and his parents would get him any records he wanted.
They'd all just listen to music together.
She left to go home before dad and Matt did, but she never made it home.
What?
They never found her body.
Jesus.
Remember they said floor just disappeared.
Yeah.
Yeah.
God.
In theory, she could still be alive, but nobody really believes that.
Please.
Well, she could be chained up in the Canman's basement somewhere.
That's true, the same way that maybe this guy's chained up in his basement.
We'll see you.
Mom thinks dad and Uncle Matt always felt personally responsible for it.
Because if they just left with her, she might still be alive.
My mom figures that's why the flashing light thing upset dad and uncle.
Matt so much. And I guess I was opening old wounds by asking about it. That, okay, so that gives an
explanation as to why they were both freaked out by talking about it. But they didn't know it was a,
because they never knew with flora, right? It wasn't until he found the pictures. He knew it was a
photograph. They're just freaked out because now his son is talking about the same thing his sister used to.
Yeah, well, I think it's just a repetition of a thing, a very traumatic person that they lost.
But it's not an immediate, like, it's a pedophile, you know, because they didn't know,
No, but I think that you would assume that it's like it's a murderer.
I think that with the correlation,
I don't think that like,
it doesn't mean I'm saying that they're immediately coming that conclusion,
but it would be hard being like,
it would hard not being,
like my sister said the exact same thing
and like not both of you guys coming back
to like that very strong reaction, I guess.
Yeah.
At the same time,
I find it really spooky that the same thing would happen to both me and Flora,
and upsetting that it wasn't taken more seriously
when it happened to me.
I also felt really bad
about hurting Uncle Matt. I visited him the next day to apologize. I told him my mom explained everything
and I really had no idea. He wasn't mad anymore. Actually, he apologized to me too because he said
I deserve to know. Now on to what Uncle Matt said. You know, maybe Chad Freud is like maybe
maybe he was hated in the town because the Catholics were molesting children. So maybe they
they pinned it on Chodfroy because he had a foreign accent,
meaning he was probably from a war-torn country.
So they got a necromancer.
You're talking about the instantly recognizable film,
Ice Creamman, but Eli Roth. Oh, I see.
Yeah, yeah. Maybe that's what it is.
Maybe they have to cut off the head of necromancer.
The whatever meme?
Lee Cronin's the...
The man's a god now compared to Eli Roth.
Eli Roth's the pedophile.
So I have to cut off the necromancer's head and show it to Mr. Chod-Froy.
And that'll kill him and stop the child.
That's got a, yeah, that's got to be it.
Yeah.
Make sure that the faces don't see each other.
Right, right.
Correct.
Got it.
This summer's going to be great.
This summer's going to be great.
He said there was a little bit more to it than what my mom described.
A week before she disappeared, Flora had started complaining about the flashing lights again.
They figured either she was forgetting to put on her mask or it had been in her head the whole time.
Then a day or two before she disappeared, couldn't remember.
she woke up and the mask was gone.
She couldn't find it anywhere.
I figured she just didn't want to wear it anymore.
Now he wasn't so sure.
The idea of this fucking creep,
breaking the house and stealing the mask
that she like has to wake up and be bothered by the light.
It just like gives into that sick fascination
of like the pictures of her like kind of like barely like looking or something.
Fucking,
just an animal.
Yeah.
Do you think that this would be,
it is works pretty well because back then
obviously there was no like surveillance cameras and stuff for like homes and stuff.
Does this work now you think if you were like, well, we checked our security cams at the house and you just see the guy?
Or do you just or you can still do something creepy with that, I think.
Yeah.
But I mean like at my house, like I have security cameras everywhere.
Yeah.
It's like I would just be like doorbell ring cameras and stuff.
I think that those are common of even like a ring camera thing where you just see a guy like walking up your driveway and like walk around your house.
And he's like he does it every night at 3.m.
and you're like, you said that what time does the lights happen?
Like, just something like that,
taking a new age piece of technology and kind of like,
the idea of like your surveillance thing is also just immediately unveiling
and giving light to this extremely horrible thing that's happening.
It was doing its job,
but like it's visualizing it and putting it right in front of you.
Versus like right here now, you're like, you can, you know,
it's just the wind.
It's just saying, I don't know, it's just a weird lightning bugs outside your room.
Just go back to sleep, you know?
Yeah.
I think the whole
This story works really well for the same reason
I think Pimpel worked because it's a child who doesn't understand what's going on
And the parents are unaware to some degree
How old is our protagonist you think?
Well now he's like grown and his dad's talking to him
But at the time he's an adult man now
Yeah I mean at least what he went to the guy's house when he was 15 and years later
His dad says it's time you know
So we can assume he's like 18.
They're also drinking beer together.
He's at least, if you want to be like, oh, whatever, I'd say he's at least 21.
Yeah, yeah.
He's in his 20s.
Yeah.
So that's him now, but he's talking about events when he was younger.
He was younger.
I was just wondering because I'm like, there's still a lot of time between that and that.
A lot of stuff could have went wrong.
Yeah.
But yeah, to your point, like nowadays, like if I knew for a fact at 3 a.m.,
someone was going to walk around my house.
Yeah, you'd be there with a gun.
I would just put on night vision, wait for him to come up the driveway.
And it's like, oh, there's a trespassing line at arms or aim.
Like, yeah, a bunch of red coats come out of the woods.
I have a musket.
Would you be kind of cool?
Would you, if you killed a creep that was taking pictures of your kid,
would you even report it or would you do a pie?
thing, what they used to do with pirates where you take the dead body and you hang it up in a tree
and you put a fucking sign that says like pedophiles beware. I wish we could be that cool now,
but I feel like that would probably lead to some legal hiccups. You can't see it from the road.
I mean, it really, you know, your neighbor's driving by. Listen, it's cool that you kill the pedophile,
but I really don't like seeing it. It's more so a lawn ornament kind of thing. Yeah, yeah. Well, it's like
I think a lot of it about what you can get away with, quote unquote, kind of depends.
where you are.
Yeah, yeah.
Because like my buddy the other day, he had some people that were breaking into like his dad's
property.
And he just called the police and he was like, hey, if these guys come back, I'm going to shoot
him.
And the police are like, all right.
Go ahead.
Okay, dope.
Yeah.
Whereas if you do that like a city, that I feel like that would not be the reaction.
I think if I legitimately believe that if I killed somebody for creeping on my kid,
I would invest so much money into building a full-fledged.
movie accurate black pearl pirate ship that would be awesome and I put in my yard and I would hang the body off of it and because the ship is so elaborate you would assume that's a problem yeah yeah you would they I'm the stench yeah well be a bit of a giveaway but I mean you couldn't smell far enough back from the road you know you'd smell close up though someone's like what oh up close by me what is this is a say are you jack sparrow are people touring the dead body I would assume well yeah 100 percent I think we're just as fuck
up and this is this is what see this would get me in prison is I would I would do tours and be like come
here it's free photo shoots on the black pearl and I'd have everyone take a photo of it so that's
that would get you that one that would get you but I think that people in the few I think people
would sit there they'd be like hell yeah that's how you turn oh I would I'd be there like that's
right brother let's do I wouldn't lie about either is that a problem no it's a dead it's a dead pedophile
I think that's cool but I feel like that is how in no no I'm going to prison yeah
Yeah, yeah. In a legal sex.
No, no, I'm going to prison.
A, like, very viable self-defense situation.
They sit there, they try to get me to do insanity plea, all this.
I say, guilty.
Guilty.
Guilty is charged.
Give me the book. I'll read it.
And throw it at me.
You know, I need some time off anyway.
It's going to prison law.
I imagine, I probably, I feel like I would, if you're a pedophile, what brought you in?
I killed a pedophile.
I really you would do per.
Because they say, well, they say, I mean, who knows how true this is.
I'm like how many,
how many pedophiles are in a fucking,
I mean,
probably a lot of pedophiles in prison.
And otherwise,
they get beat up.
I'm like,
those are motherfuckers.
It depends on the prison
because a lot of times
the gangs will,
but it's like,
is the prison have a gang
and stuff like that,
you know?
There's that one guy,
I want to say his name's Randy
or Travis one.
But that kid who was being molested
by his coach.
So while the police were doing a perp walk,
the coach had got arrested,
and the police were doing,
a perp walk
to take him to jail
to the courthouse or something.
The kid's dad
like posts as a guy on a phone
and just turn around and shot him.
It's one of the best videos ever.
That's so cool.
That guy's so cool.
Also, so seamless.
I'm like,
I was like,
that dude had that,
the choreography doing that.
I'm like,
that dude was definitely
looking in the mirror
and just being like spin pink.
Spin pink.
All right,
I got it.
Yeah.
And then as soon as he fired
drops the gun,
hands up behind the head.
Yeah,
they tackle.
whatever, but you could, I heard, I don't know if this is true, but I heard people were just like,
I get it. Oh, yeah. I heard the cops are just like, yeah. Well, I mean, he got, I think he's out now,
uh, because it was like, from a legal sense, it was first degree murder, but he got,
he got like a relatively light sentence. I mean, no sentence in like over a decade is light,
but for capital murder, everyone's kind of like, what's, what's the easiest we can do here?
You would be a fucking sweet shirt. Is that screenshot of him fully pointed out?
like that at the phone booth.
And underneath them,
bold font,
it just says,
kill all pedophiles.
That is a shirt.
Is it?
Yeah,
there's one of him
turning around and firing
and it's like the pedophiles
head exploding.
And it says,
kill your local pedophile.
Oh,
I need that.
Yeah.
I almost think,
because the son went on
the unsubscribe podcast
and talked about it.
I almost feel like it's his merch.
I could be worried about that,
but yeah.
Well,
I mean,
that's fucking,
that's sick.
That goes pretty hard.
Yeah.
Also, yeah, Uncle Matt,
or whatever.
Yeah,
wearing that,
wearing that to the next
kid's birthday party.
I'd say what, though?
That's a good way to weed out
the pedophiles at a birthday party.
Oh, yeah.
I'm sure I look around.
The one guy's sweating
getting cake like this.
That's the guy where you like lock it on him.
Stephen,
can I talk to you over there?
Another weird thing
around the same time
was they found footprints
in the snow outside the house.
It had snowed almost three feet overnight.
These footprints led out the woods behind the house and went straight to floor's window.
The thing Uncle Matt said creeped him out the most was that the footprints at the window didn't face into the window.
They faced back towards the woods.
There was nothing but trees.
For the footprints did not have been covered in by snow,
someone had to have walked a floor's bedroom window sometime after midnight,
stood there staring into the woods in a blizzard.
maybe you were right with the initial assumption.
I'm telling you.
We might be looking at it.
We might be looking at a sloth situation.
One of them is trying to defend the other.
One of them,
one of them's trying to stop the other, maybe.
Well, that's what I'm saying.
I'm saying,
I'm not saying that he's like a deformed fucking,
like buff mutant.
Yeah,
or eating candy bars with an obese child.
I'm just saying like,
just something of like,
yeah.
He feels like,
the only thing that I don't understand, though,
is the kinship to this family or whatever.
And also still,
guess what sloth?
You still shouldn't be fucking sitting underneath the house
mess with the sewage pipes talking about peanut butter and sugar sandwiches
and stuff like that, all right?
That, yeah.
Unless that's a different entity, but then if that's the case,
then it's just like,
well, no, you see, that was the good weirdo,
but this was the bad weirdo.
Yeah, we'll see.
That's a delicate dance.
Yeah.
Whatever.
Strangely, he said they never really worried about it much.
Everyone knew everyone there.
It just stands out in hindsight.
The day she disappeared, they got a call from Timmy Jean, the boy with the records, telling
them he just got a new one. Uncle Matt said Timmy was an only child. He thought the records
were how Timmy's parents got him off their hands and made him some friends. So he was normally
really excited when he got a record to share. This day, he sounded flat, emotionless.
Matt had asked if he was even speaking to Timmy. And the whole time, Uncle Matt felt like someone
was listening in.
I could hear a sound in the background.
It wasn't quite breathing.
It was like someone saying, yeah, really softly.
Around this time, where my dad and Uncle Matt grew up,
the phone lines were all what they called party lines.
Each home's phone would have a different ring,
so they knew who should answer.
But anyone could answer or listen in on anyone else's phone call,
so having someone else on the line wasn't unheard of, just impolite.
They went to Timmy's, but when they arrived, Timmy said he didn't call them and he didn't even have a new album.
Uncle Matt and dad decided to hang out with Timmy and listen to some old albums anyway.
But Flora was really disappointed and wanted to go home.
So she left alone.
He remembered thinking it was too bad she left because they found her sleep mask in Timmy's room.
How?
Wouldn't that be immediate, like, uh, what, you know?
because she lost it a couple nights ago
at her house
and now it's here at Timmy's house
and clearly the implication
is this peto or whatever
is making Timmy
get them to come over right
but if you found her sleep mask
in his house
wouldn't that make you like
you know freak out?
Yes.
Yeah.
Well, I'm also wondering
is the guy going to multiple kids' houses
and he is the one who gave
Timmy that mask or whatever.
I do think that it raises
this suspicion.
You definitely are like, huh?
But I think it opens up a more,
like a bigger can of worms of,
oh, it isn't just our family.
It's multiple people being affected.
Yeah.
That was the last time they ever saw our Uncle Matt said.
He was trying hard not to tear up.
He said he remembered it like it was yesterday.
Her little brown shoes,
posing her hair.
And he said,
oh,
the oversized Ramones t-shirt they found her in a trip to the city
it was her favorite band
bruh
you know it's fucked up as Ramones had that one song too
uh tonight
they're gonna kill that girl
you're gonna kill that girl
tonight
makes you think of that
I felt an awful pit in my stomach when he said that
I don't think I'd ever mention the detail about the Ramones
t-shirt before
not that Uncle Matt would pull my leg on something like this
because it could have been coincidence
when people like the Ramones
yeah okay but I've never felt so unsettled in all my life
I told him about the guy on the Ramones t-shirt
told me to just drop it because it was a long time ago
that was all he had to say
there's a lot of what Uncle Matt said that I find strange
like how unconcerned he seemed that Timmy hadn't made the phone call
with the sleep mask
I'm visiting my dad for Thanksgiving tomorrow
I'm going to bring two bottles of Cooper gin.
Have happy Thanksgiving.
I'll let you know if I found out anything more or if I don't.
I mean, even him brushing off the Ramon's shirt is weird.
Telling.
Well, they keep being like, that was a long time ago.
Don't talk about it.
So they've straight up might have killed someone.
And that's why they're like,
because that would explain them not being urgent about stopping it now
and also trying to get him and drop it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Or maybe they, even if they didn't kill him,
they know he died or something.
I'm telling you.
Muffucker, prisoners.
That's cool.
That's cool.
That's cool.
I would love it.
I'd like that.
Where is she?
So we're now into
part three.
He's about to go to talk to his dad
so imagine we'll get more.
I want to mention that the top comment
on part two
was someone asking
are your parents divorced?
It's just a funny thing.
For someone to read all that
and be like, wait a minute.
Well, that is kind of an interesting thought
though. Are the mom and dad divorced? That would just lean into like one, usually whenever a
trap, typically whenever a giant tragedy like this would happen of a child missing or
something happening usually just indicates that there was something traumatic or that there
was a, like something that made them split up. So, well, this happened when his dad was a boy.
Well, I think what I'm saying is while he was a kid did anything. I think the way they're saying is
while anything else kid happening. Yeah, I see what you're saying. That could lead to that.
I mean, I actually think that's kind of an interesting comment
because if it's like, yes, then what happened?
Have we heard from the mom?
Yeah, that's the phone call
where she explained all the stuff about the dad, yeah.
That's why he's bringing gin because she said that
when dad drinks gin, yeah.
Which also makes it seem that they are divorced.
That's like separate.
Yeah.
Also, he's like a heavy drinker now, all that stuff.
You know, he keeps reiterating to the bar fight thing
or at least he did in like part one and two.
But I do wonder if like,
yeah, something.
you know, horrific habit.
It would be the thing of like being like, you know,
hey, Carl, I don't know if I want to
have a pedophile locked in her basement for 20 years.
He's like, you see that right there?
Four fucking letters.
D-O-O-R, walk out.
He's like, because this is my new pet.
Kicks the fucking dog kennel the guys in.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That'd be a cause for a divorce.
To be fair, too, if she did that,
yeah, it's kind of cool if she's like,
they get divorced.
I'm like, why?
She's just like,
I don't want to talk about just.
Yeah,
she just never tells me.
Yeah, exactly.
It's not about to keep the pet,
it's not about that,
but she's just like,
I just don't want to be around it all the time.
I was fine with the chained up pedophile in the basement.
That's all cool.
But man,
he would gamble.
Exactly.
He's on draft kings all day.
Part three.
I just want to thank everyone again for your interest in my personal journey and for sharing
your views.
Might have walked away from it by now if it weren't for your support.
because the more I learned, the less I seem to understand.
But I did learn more from my dad over Thanksgiving.
I had to mull it over for a few days.
Now that I have, I feel comfortable sharing it.
Yeah, I just like this.
This whole, you know what?
Also, I think people like about this stuff.
We've read a lot of different,
there's a lot of different narrative styles,
stuff that feels more like a traditional story.
I think what people like about creepy pastas
and these kind of accounts so much
is that it feels like a personal story
that someone's just telling you.
there's something very stripped back about it to where you're recalling a story and it makes it almost feel like a found footage movie or something like where people like that aesthetic as well where it feels like I'm watching something I shouldn't be watching the same way that the cadence is so is so casual to where I think it's so approachable to a lot of people that they're just like it feels like I'm just having a conversation with somebody and then you get enthralled by the story but I think it is extremely approachable that that being said just some of the other stuff that we've read where people are
were like, you know, it was okay.
Or maybe we're jazzed on it or other people who were like really into like writing and
stuff really like it because they can, you know, they like the, the usage of different
like words or phrases and all that kind of stuff.
I think like this at its very core is like a very fun strip back approachable way of
telling a story, I guess.
I would agree.
Yeah.
When I first unloaded the bottles of gin, dad looked at me like I was set in a trap.
In a way, I guess I was.
I wonder if he knew what I was up to.
At least he hadn't talked to mom.
They still hate each other.
But dad's a man's man and doesn't turn down a drink.
I kept waiting for the opportunity to start asking questions,
but I never felt right.
Turns out I didn't have to.
Dad asked me if Uncle Matt talked.
I told him he had that there was a lot that didn't make sense to me.
Get used to it.
Was his answer.
I was starting to get upset with all the secrecy.
We'd always been a family of straight talkers.
or that's how we thought of ourselves.
I didn't see why this was suddenly changing.
So I asked him why he wasn't more alarmed by the flashing lights in my room
when the same thing happened to his little sister.
Why didn't immediately think I was in danger
when he found those pictures of me?
Why didn't he do anything?
He told me he did more than I'll ever know.
Oh.
Oh.
No, no.
I was the guy.
Yeah.
You looked disgusted when he said that.
He told me that.
He told me I did more than I'll ever know.
He did more.
The son goes, why didn't you do anything about it?
And the dad says, I did more than you'll ever know.
Yeah, well, that's how I'm like wondering.
I'm like, what are we getting to?
Sounds like he straight up murdered that guy.
I got him locked in the basement, prisoners.
That I was typical of my video game generation
and to go ahead and have another drink because it's Thanksgiving.
I did, but I wasn't feeling very thankful.
After you're sitting in silence for a while,
which is pretty typical for us.
actually, he said,
Never liked that little rat.
I just waited for him to elaborate.
Dad talks at his own pace.
Timmy Jean, I mean.
And expected him to say anything about Timmy.
He was about as peripheral to what happened as I could imagine.
But dad had a lot to say about him.
So, and just to reiterate,
Timmy is where they found the sleep mask
of that kid's house and everything.
The kid with the records who came over when she disappeared.
Dad said Timmy wasn't really a bad kid.
He was just strange and pale.
and weak. Most other kids didn't like him. His parents didn't seem to like him. Even the kids who
did like him didn't really like him. The general opinion was that Timmy's parents were always gone,
although it was hard to tell whether they were home or not. They kept to themselves. Rumors went
around that they were brother and sister. One thing that was certain was that they'd inherited money.
Unlike everyone else, they didn't keep any livestock. They just bought everything from the general store
for Timmy and disappeared.
Dad said today it'd be called neglect,
but people watched out for each other back then.
One thing that always struck Dad as peculiar
was how when they wanted Timmy to do something
other than listen to records,
like go play, kick the can.
He'd say he was going to ask his parents.
None of them had seen or heard his parents in the house,
so they were surprised.
But Timmy would go into this room,
close the door behind him,
and they'd hear him talking to someone in there.
Cool.
He come out, tell them they had to stay put.
This happened a few times, he said,
not that they invited Timmy Gene out all that much.
Another thing he didn't like about Timmy
was he just do strange things.
Sometimes he seemed pretty normal.
Then he just changed like that.
This one time, they were listening to some new record he had.
He turned it off and told them he learned a new song and dance.
Dad wasn't interested, thinking he didn't be childish.
But Flora and Matt wanted to see.
Timmy started walking backwards in a circle
shaking like he was freezing
and making shrieking sounds
What's that
What?
What is that look like?
Can you stand up and see what that looks like?
So
walking backwards in circle
He's doing this
It's like shivering
I'm not going to shriek
Well do the shrieks, come on
He's like a
I thought it was more like
I was him sitting there and he does this
and he goes
He was like
So I'm just
Okay you went straight Velocerat
Or like a terra-jackwell
That's just because that Zinian
He was the hit up in my side
Yeah Isaiah was
Walking back
I don't do nicotine
Nexene's bad kids
Walking back in circles
With Zinn in his mouth doing
B.
The
Talking to the movie attendants
The
The
I hear your stuff up member
I think that
The
I'm trying to think if it's indicative of anything
But it's not the path
Like is this what the footsteps are from
Is this not the path that he's recreating?
I thought that said footsteps just went to the edge of the house
And pointed out towards this
I was thinking the same thing
Was it Timmy sitting there
Like looking into the woods
Or whatever is what I was thinking
But I feel like if that's the case
Maybe it would be more in a circle
by the window.
But it is,
it doesn't make it seem
like somebody
walked out from the woods
and then looked right?
Is that what they said?
The trail led from the woods.
They looked,
they were against the house,
looking towards the woods,
but.
Towards the woods.
Yeah.
Did it say where the,
the,
uh,
where the footsteps came from?
Yeah,
it says it came from the woods.
So it did say from the edge
and then looks out.
So it did come from the woods and then it stopped and
look it away.
Yes.
Okay.
That's what it was like.
Um,
I'm trying to think of that
it sounds like someone freezing
The walking backwards is freaky
You know
I mean it's all freaky
But like the backwards
Almost implies like a weird
Well the backwards thing makes me almost assume
That the dude was walking backwards
Out of the woods even
And then he was like
Washed away
And he was like
Interesting
That could be a
Put into some kind of trance maybe
Maybe
I don't know
Hmm
How old is Timmy here?
I said they're what
10 11
So he's the same age
as like, he's the same age as for.
It's like 50s 10 and 11, which is the equivalent
of like 35.
Yeah, so he looks like he's, yeah,
42. Actually, no, you're right.
He'd be the older brother's age like 12, 13.
Okay. Yeah.
It was annoying the hell out of dad, so he told Timmy
to cut it out, but Timmy kept doing it.
Dad had never seen Timmy show
any emotion other than excitement over his records.
When he was doing this dance,
he looked downright hateful.
Flora started crying and Matt looked
pretty scared too.
dad never had patience for stupidity
grabbed Timmy by the shoulders
he said he remembered how Timmy felt
his skin was cold and jelly-like
and he could feel his small shoulder bones
like they weren't covered at all
he shook Timmy until he stopped
and was back to normal
Timmy started playing the record again like nothing had happened
Dad said they left because Flora was too upset
it was after that dad said
that he went to get Timmy for something
he couldn't remember what
and Timmy wasn't home.
That was weird in itself,
but Dad went inside to look for him just in case.
He couldn't find him,
so he decided he just asked Timmy's parents
where Timmy was gone.
He opened the door to the room Timmy always went into.
The room was kept really dark.
I can never see anything when Timmy slipped in.
Now he knew why.
It wasn't a bedroom at all.
It was just a closet.
Oh.
That's so.
Such a horrifying.
Oh, he goes into the closet to talk to his parents.
Oh.
There's a kitchen.
This story is excellent, by the way.
Like the bread crumbs as you go.
There was a cushion thrown on the floor.
Some bread crust pieces of paper.
Dad said he'd seen enough.
He closed the door and got out.
Never went back to Timmy's again.
Because when Timmy would go into that room,
they wouldn't just hear Timmy talking.
That he'd hear someone talking to him.
A cushion on the floor with bread crumbs.
The motherfucker's making him peanut butter and sugar sandwiches and he's sitting there eating them.
Fuck that.
I'd already drink more gin than I should have, but that's still since shivers through me.
But I thought of something.
I asked dad if this happened after Flora disappeared.
He said no.
So I said, how was it?
He was at Timmy's the day Flore disappeared.
Your Uncle Matt doesn't always remember things, right?
Gave me a stern stare when he said this.
like it was something I should keep in mind
to the end of my days.
I know Dad's looks very well.
About Uncle Matt.
He said Matt came up to him that day
and said they had a call from Timmy
to come over and listen to the new record.
He'd heard the call come in
and that was nothing strange.
But he never went with them to Timmy's.
He went to the general store
to pick up a present for Betty Coffin,
girly fancied,
and Matt and Flora went to Timmy's by themselves.
When he was at the general store,
general store, he remembered being surprised to see Timmy in there just picking up some food with
a big wad of bills. He never seen that much money in one place in his whole life, so he wasn't
likely to forget it. He told Timmy hello, but Timmy just paid for his food, walked out with his
food and bills, Flora never came home from Timmy's that day. And that's all I know about it,
he said. I told him Uncle Matt said he was listening to music with him and Timmy when Flora left
on her own. Who was you listening to music with then?
Wasn't Timmy.
Was all that said, it was so eerily matter of fact.
Gosh, just the idea that the story we heard of them at the record and floor leaves and stuff,
it's like what if that was a completely different situation?
I took another shot of gin right there.
I hoped it'd stop me from shaking.
When I looked at dad, he was staring down, the sad resignation I never seen in him before.
my dad could drink me under the table ten times over
so after that last shot he had to put me to bed on his couch
that was the end of our talk
lying there on the couch
I suddenly remembered something from way back
when my family would go down to the beach
we'd all sit around the fire
the adults would drink and tell stories about growing up
and that hamlet and the kids would roast marshmallows
and shiver listening to these stories
there were true stories and ghost stories all mixed together
these were the only occasions where I'd ever heard him talk about Flora before
after what my dad said I remembered a story Uncle Matt told
he said he and Flora would go for these long walks in the woods together
my dad used to go with them since he was expected to watch them
but once he hit his teenage years he got more interested in girls than babysitting
they decided to go back into the woods behind Hyman's general store
there are no trails or anything
just picked a spot and went into the woods
you can go back for miles and miles into just pure woods
it's all national parklands today
normally they'd walk about 30 minutes or an hour
dad would have them walk parallel to the edge of the woods
without dad they just kept going deeper
they've been walking into the woods for well over an hour
or at least he thinks it was
flora wanted to turn back by this time
but Matt wanted to keep going deeper
she followed him because she was
to go off alone but she got upset and said she was going back on her own she told her that's fine
don't get lost uncle mad said she wasn't gone 30 seconds when he felt her tugging at his arm
he got mad because he thought she was bugging him to go with her again but when he looked
she was pointing at something behind him you god he said really seriously that he'd never forget
how wide and scared her eyes were he turned and
and saw a man standing out in the woods scared him too the man didn't really look scary it was just a man
there was no reason for anyone to be out so far in the woods they shouldn't even be there the man had his back to
them looking deeper into the woods he wasn't moving at all they crouched down as quietly as they
could to watch him but he didn't do anything but stand there
Matt said he didn't like it one bit.
He felt there was something really wrong about what was going on.
He took floor by the hand, something he never did,
and they walked away making as little sound as possible.
He kept glancing behind his shoulder as they walked.
After a few minutes, he was satisfied.
They were well away from the man.
He was long out of sight, probably hearing range.
After a few minutes more walking,
Matt heard a thudding sound.
Flora squeezed his hand tied her, so he knew she heard it too.
But they didn't say anything to each other.
They were too scared.
The thudding kept getting louder.
Then he heard this scream.
At the top of someone's lungs, like he'd been hurt.
Matt looked back and saw the man they'd seen earlier running right out.
at them full speed through the woods screaming the whole time. No words.
You know what though? It is an R slash no-sleep story. So it's gonna be an
destructible pedophile somewhere.
You know, I mean, like, I like, I like, I like, I were surprised when this is like,
this is the ultimate trope here.
Oh, that's so creepy. Oh, just.
Yeah.
how do you imagine the screen?
Do you imagine like a whale or do you think it's like more?
Is it a man's yell or is it like a banshees yell?
You know?
You know, I actually saw, uh, I saw this like completely out of context clip on Instagram
that was for like some haunted copy of GTA that someone found is like a internet
creepypasta kind of thing.
And it's like he's just walking around and then this thing starts screaming and like
the scream freaked.
I was watching this like 2 a.m.
and I did not expect it to do that.
That's the scream that's running through.
Actually, you know what?
I haven't pulled up right here.
I'm sending it to people.
Hold on.
Yeah, it got me pretty good
because I was not ready for what was happening.
Hold on.
Funny enough, I was messaging Alex Kester about it.
We were going back and forth about it.
Here it is.
Where's the screen happen?
Whoa.
Whoa.
Oh, like an ape.
Yeah, like an ape like screech.
Yeah, that's, yeah.
Yeah.
Man, you see this guy out in the woods and he is like facing away from you and you starts back up and then he just starts dead sprinting at you.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh.
Yep.
He, uh, you know.
That part gave me chills.
Um, I love it.
It's rare, but I love it when I get actually creeped out during the story.
Me too, man.
I feel like we cover so many, you know, and it's just like...
Well, you do it every week.
It's hard to fucking...
It's water off the duck.
Water off a duck's back at some point, but I got the...
My hebees are jeebied right now.
Who would have thought all you need is just a man looking at children through the woods and
you're primed and ready.
Well, it's like...
Was that a dig at me specifically?
No, no, no, I'm just saying.
I thought you were making like another can man joke.
Like, all I would need.
No.
I'm not going to try to unlock the secrets of your past,
But I think that the, there's something so gutteral about being chased and all of the clues are like so anxious as what's going on, what happened and stuff like that and have details as violent as that or very, you know.
Matt said he and Flora were so scared they couldn't even run.
They backed up against a tree and crouched down.
Matt thought the man was going to kill them or hurt them and he didn't know what to do about it.
it. When the man caught up to them, he stopped short only a few feet away. He took in a deep breath
and shouted in their faces. Get out! They were too scared to move, so the man kept shouting it at them.
Get out! Finally, Matt tugged at Flora and they ran and ran back the way they came. When they were
almost out, they heard Dad calling for them somewhere back in the woods. They were about to go
running back to Dad so he'd protect them. But then they saw him at the tree line.
and ran to him.
He took them home and that was that.
He said they never told their mom
because they figured they were just trespassing.
After Uncle Matt finished his story,
everyone was quiet for a good long time.
The story seemed to bother Dad more than anyone else.
I remember being especially upset by it
just because of bothered Dad.
You know, honestly, that thing his dad said
that your Uncle Matt has a bad memory
and forget stuff a lot.
I wonder how much of that story actually played out that way.
you know.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Well, also to, uh, it's, it is true.
One of those things when you see your parents actually upset by something where it's like
it feels infinitely more real.
Yeah.
You know, like you never, never seeing your parents in that, in that light.
That's always a fucked up thing.
I think everybody kind of experiences their parents saying something or
repeating something or do, like there's something that obviously shakes everybody.
Yeah.
I don't know why, but it really is.
There's like just a there really is just a.
like a level of like eerieness that is i think irreplaceable with that or like it can't be replicated
you know then dad said he remembered that when he first came to get them couldn't find them
he figured they'd just gone home but he can find them at home either he looked in the general store
and down to the fishing wharf but they weren't there either so he went back to the woods
just as he got there he saw them running out of the woods screaming and crying he asked him what was going on
thinking they just seen a bear or something they just kept bawling so he brought them home and
questioned them to get the whole story he said he never told uncle mad at the time but he saw them coming
out of the woods as soon as he got there never did call out for them i don't know why i suddenly
remembered that story it's just another weird thing that happened to my family just an hour away from
where dad grew up in the nearest bigger town there's a huge sanatorium up on a hill it's over the whole town
Guy in the woods could have just been some guy who got out of there and they had the misfortune of startling him.
It could be completely unrelated to everything else.
So I gave me a lot to think about.
I don't feel any more secure or confident after what dad told me.
If anything, I'm more confused and unsettled than ever.
The last several days have been a strange ride.
But I know there's no way I can let it go now.
I'll try to find out more.
I'll continue sharing what I can.
End of part three.
One thing I think that the story is really threading well is a couple things for me,
which is a very subtle mystery and they're not going,
they're taking their time to get to the payoff, which is nice.
But the mystery still seems alluring that we don't have the full picture
and it's kind of like having to really pry open a person,
people that are obviously kind of broken, more so the dad.
when I like what one thing that I've done too
or one thing that I like that they've done too
is they've shown that this guy's like an alcoholic
there's a broken family they're kind of like
unveiling more of whatever happened
has led them to where everyone's at right now
and it's like you don't really notice those things
until you're come face to face with it as well
so of course this of course our main protagonist is
I mean he's still young 21 or whatever
still a young guy
but it's like you wouldn't really piece these things together
until you were of right mind or something
until you can actually process stuff, you know?
But I do think like the way that like we're going through
these vignettes don't just feel
I can see people having these vignettes
the same way that like a lonely broadcast tower
where it's like let me tell you about this goofy thing
that happened to me today or whatever.
But instead it feels like we're slowly unwrapping something
or we're slowly breaking the walls down to the dad.
Family secret, yeah.
To where after a while he's going to be like,
all right, I'll tell you what happened that day
because that's still, you know,
I know that he said that in the first part,
but I think that there is still like,
what I did that day,
the Reaper, like the end result has still yet to be said.
Yeah, I agree.
I think it's throwing that nicely.
And it is setting up all these fun moments for very,
for very fun, creepy vignettes,
but in a way where it also doesn't feel like,
and then this happened,
and then this happened.
It kind of feels like it's actually building upon itself.
And it's also setting up and having like,
little payoffs here and there, the Ramone shirt, you know, that kind of.
My only critique of Penn Powell, I remember while we read it, is that in the first couple
parts, it felt a little, and like we're critiquing like our Mona Lisa, I understand, but
in the beginning it felt a little like, oh yeah, I do remember this other thing. And then
he goes into the detail. And the details were great. And it's not like it detracts from the story.
But what I do appreciate about this one, and there's a little bit of that in the last part about,
Oh, I remember the story I heard of the beach.
But you can see why there's so many walls built around the story
because there's so much trauma associated with it
and stuff that this family has just walled up for so long
and they do not want to unpack.
So our protagonist now trying to figure everything out
has to chip away so slowly at a time.
And then he's giving us info as soon as he has it.
So it makes sense why he's not getting or remembering all the details right away
because of that barrier.
I'm hoping that it sticks the landing.
I think what's happening right now is that
I think that maybe the author went in
with the intention of maybe just doing a one-parter,
but maybe had an idea of like what the dad did
and then now it's just building to that thing.
Yeah, at the end of part one, it's like,
that wasn't the right address.
And also, why did he, you know,
so it's clear that there was an intention to do more.
But I think it's doing great so far.
It's a nice, it's a nice,
it's just a nice take on
taking your time and like
don't rush towards the simple fun punchline
at the end like kind of take your time
and build up there.
Because there's so many like little details
like yeah it is just a Ramon's shirt
but that's a fun payoff for a horror vignette thing.
This whole idea of like the fucking creepy Timmy kid
walking around the tracks in the snow.
It's not like giant swings.
They're just like subtle fun things.
Also just to reiterate too
we don't say it enough.
There's no such thing as a perfect story.
Yeah.
Right.
You can look at it.
pick and prod or whatever.
We take it broad a lot of things because one where it means a horror story.
I mean, like you're in the moment, you're reading.
We're kind of just saying our thoughts out loud.
The sopranos had a few weird transition shots.
Yeah.
But at the end of the day, you know, I just want to put that out there too.
Because some of some people I think are like maybe too precious with some of the things.
Yeah, my favorite stories that I love and go back to time and time again, I can name a couple of things that I feel like are a little wrong.
I also acknowledge that they're excellent.
as perfect as can be.
Like just in me talking about Pimpal
having a couple weird setups, who cares?
It's PINPAL, right?
Well, in the moment when you're reading it,
you're just kind of like, eh, but what,
the reason I bring that up is because,
like I agree, I remember,
I remember saying those things,
but I do think like, once that motherfucker hit a stride,
it was like, all right, we're not going to,
we're getting rid of that and we're just,
you kind of understood that he knew where he wanted to go.
And it feels like even this so far.
There's still like the kind of like keeping it,
a Reddit post, I'm keeping it interactive, but it does feel like each section feels a little more
honed in on specifically the characters and like the setup payoff versus just like, isn't that creepy?
Yeah.
It feels like we're building towards something.
Hopefully.
Yeah.
Part four.
All right.
Part four.
I managed to find out more about Timmy.
I had to hit up people I haven't spoken to in a long time or barely know at all.
But eventually, I had a few relatives who knew more than I ever expected to find out.
Before I share what I learned about Timmy, though, I've been asked in these comments how I can keep such a level head while I keep uncovering these weird incidents.
I guess because it's distant.
I shake and shiver and feel dread when I'm hearing about or remembering these events.
But it's still way back there.
Even my dad finding the pictures in that house happened years ago.
That's been changing lately.
Little things have been happening that have been making me uneasy.
I would also assume if you're finding the stuff out, it's not going to be all explosive.
going to be a slow unraveling and eat at you slowly.
So I imagine,
I imagine the more as we go into these parts,
the more even the guy's going to be like,
I'm like seeing shit.
Yeah.
Or like,
yeah,
you know what I mean?
It's going to fucking like really blossom into something horrifying.
For one,
my mom has called me twice since Thanksgiving.
I know this isn't overtly creepy,
but we normally only talk once every two weeks.
At top of that,
she hasn't been herself.
She's been trailing off,
going silent for long periods.
Sometimes it's like there's an echo when she speaks.
I start wondering,
of someone's tapping into our conversations,
like with a baby monitor or something.
Oh, what a creepy device to use with a baby monitor.
Jesus Christ.
She's been saying strange things.
For instance, after being quiet for a while,
she said,
It's lonely down here.
Asked her what she meant by down here,
since she didn't live any further south than me.
She just said in a tone so flat,
she could have been reading it.
You should come.
It's wonderful down below.
Cool.
Click.
Okay, mom, got to go.
Yeah, no wonder, dad left you.
Beep.
I drink too.
Yeah, exactly.
She changed the subject right after and seemed normal after that.
My first instinct was to worry she was depressed or something, but I don't know.
The last thing she said was if I hear anything strange about her, to not believe it.
I've also been receiving other phone call.
I don't know, man.
I've also been receiving other phone calls.
Also, by the way, if you hear some strange about mommy, don't believe it.
Mm-hmm.
Call dad.
I believe everything you're going to tell me about mom talk.
Whatever you say yes.
Yeah.
What, you know, be fucked up?
What if it's the guy pretend putting on the mom's voice?
I thought it could be something like that maybe, or like he's using a voice modulator.
Maybe.
I mean, the fucking baby monitor.
I mean, I don't know.
Yeah.
I've also been receiving other phone calls.
They started a little before Thanksgiving.
First call was an instant hang up.
The next time, just silence.
Each time after that, I'd hear sounds.
Cars going by, walking, wind blowing.
Kind of sounds you'd hear from a butt call.
But they were distorted,
almost like someone was imitating the sounds with their mouth.
I wonder if it's a, if, like, editor put up,
this, put up, Justin put up this sound.
it's the sound of a street, cars driving by, wind coming in, you hear some birds, whatever,
and then you just hear like, well, he says it sounds like the noise were being imitated.
Well, that's what I'm saying is that I think that, I think, well, what I'm wondering is that
if I wonder if it sounds like it's being imitated just because there's like the, the subtle hum
of like a voice, you know, like almost just like a, like a mimicking the wind a bit or like a car passing by.
Yeah.
Or whatever.
Because yeah, I don't think it's like.
you know,
hey, watch out I'm walking here.
Yeah.
Beep, peep.
Roos.
That would be kind of fun, too, actually.
Last night it changed.
There was a voice.
The voice had a tinny, metallic tone
that same echoes when mom called.
The combination made the voice sound
human and evil.
The words weren't sinister at all,
but the way they were said
made me feel like I was in danger
for the first time since I started this investigation.
first time all he said was
I'm on my way
so quick question
how was that not threatening
that would I would be threatened
that that is a threat
I tried to say
wrong number back
but whoever it was had already hung up
I got a little later and the same voice said
I'll be there soon
bruh
re-evaluate a threat immediately
this time he didn't hang
up right away, so I said he had the wrong number. Moment after I said this, he hung up. On the third call,
he said, I can see your house now. Brother!
Don't like that. The, dude, the rent can't be that good. Immediately leave. Yeah, of course. Go
somewhere else. Hey, I'm going to vacation for a while. See everyone. And again, hung up immediately.
I kept waiting for another call in a minute, but after a few hours, I relaxed. I figured it really was a
number and they figured it out. I mean, given the last two weeks, I've ever reasoned be a little
jumpy. I get about halfway through an episode of Gotham on the DVR before the phone rang again.
I don't. It's like I forget his name. The guy playing Commissioner Gordon.
This city. Just completely. Didn't take me out, but now I'm just thinking about that plane on
the TV. I don't say anything immediately. Neither does he. After a minute or so, he says,
I'm right outside
I don't even go check the door
I would even go check the door
I would just blast a hole through the door
Yeah, just start shooting
Mississippi Queen
If you know what I mean
As soon as he said that
I heard a noise at the front door
I don't know if I've ever been so scared before
I don't have any firearms
But I do have a machete
Oh
I don't want to shoot a guy but I'll hack him to death
I'll dismember someone.
If you own a machete, just get the gun.
Just get the gun.
When people are like, well, I use it to cut weeds.
Motherfark, there's our other options of cutting it.
People do that.
They go wrong.
I love a machete.
Sure, sure.
It's funny.
But it's also like so many people like, I just feel uncomfortable with a gun.
So I think I'll bludgeon someone to death slowly over time.
It's like, no, you won't.
It does sound like my cup of tea.
Now, if you're doing it to be, doing it to be cool, that's completely different.
I'm specifically talking about the kind of people are like, yeah, guns are just so violent.
So I'm going to stab a man.
Well, I don't use guns because I much prefer,
and it's a much more effective method
when I use my rock and sling.
But watch your motherfucker.
I'm just breaking all the, like, stuff hanging on the walls.
In the house or get to my eye.
Knocking stuff off the walls.
Yeah.
The dogs are freaking out.
So I grabbed it and went to the front door.
I opened it ready for the hateful face from the building site.
Or worse, but my dad was there, actually.
He asked what the machete was for,
and I asked him what brought him out to my house so late.
It's long enough drive and dad rarely visits anyway.
Got pretty irritated about that.
He opened his flip phone and showed me a text apparently from me.
in the text I asked him to come out immediately.
It's an emergency.
I told Dad I didn't send him that text.
I didn't send him any text.
Never lied to Dad before.
That carries weight.
You believe me.
To be honest though, I was glad he was there
at just that moment.
We had a drink together and then he said he was going to get back home.
Asked him a few questions about Timmy before he left.
I didn't much want to talk about it.
But I'll add what he told me into the account of what I learned.
after floor disappeared dad and matt were expressly forbidden to have anything to do with timmy for dad that suited him just fine dad nevertheless told his mom that timmy couldn't have been responsible since he'd just seen him at hyman's general store his mom said there had always been something wrong with that boy and she felt a flora hadn't gone to his home that day she'd still be alive while dad and matt hoped she was still alive their mom never really believed she was she said she saw a dove fly into the house the day of the day of her
after Florida disappeared, but when she chased after it, she couldn't find it anywhere.
Dad said it was just grief and these kinds of supernatural beliefs were common then.
I tend to agree.
Timmy made no efforts to reach out to Dad or Matt either.
He started keeping to himself after Florida disappeared.
They sometimes see him by himself at Hyman's, buying lots of food, way more than one boy should require.
They never talked.
But once again, love that little sting.
Mm-hmm.
Buying food way more, which makes it seem like buying food.
food for maybe a person in a closet.
Yeah, what's the name?
Timmy?
No, the man, Mr. or something, Freud.
Oh, Chalfroy?
Chow Troy.
Suspicion's about Timmy and concerns about his missing parents grew.
The police had looked around Timmy's house a little since it's where Flora was last
seen and found nothing.
But now they were asked to search the house.
They wouldn't say what was wrong or what they found in there.
The rumor was Timmy's parents had been.
been there, hadn't been there in a long time, and that the police had come out of the house pale and
upset. Small towns always have rumors. Hard to say if they're true or false. Timmy was placed with
some distant relatives in a larger town an hour away. They said he was strange and they didn't like him.
He was always up and walking around at night. Sometimes he'd stop over the vents and the floor and just
stare into them. After he'd been there for a bit, they started to hear him talking to himself in the
middle of the night. They'd come up to him and see what he was doing and there was no one else
around. He started watching him. They noticed he only did this when he was standing over the air vents.
They even found him crouching down over one once. The air vents thing, man, I've been enough
like weird Midwestern or southern homes to wear. I'm not picturing the tiny ones that have
like the little grates in it that you see. Those are common, the air ducts that are come up.
like the giant,
the giant like metal great ones he could pick up
and actually like almost get into
like that.
I keep picturing that.
They used to always freak me out at my grandma's house.
I hated walking on them and I kept thinking,
like you always just think that there's something
in there looking at you.
Fuck me up.
The girl,
third cousin of his,
said it still creeped her out
because she knows she heard someone answering him one time.
Those vents couldn't have been more than
foot and a half wide and she said she heard a man's voice coming up with the air she could
make out what was being said but she heard laughter that made her run and hide under her covers
she said she thinks this part may have been a dream but she always swore she saw a finger
poking up from the vent too she told her parents but they said to stop making up stories
and he'd been through a lot her sister said sometimes timmy would walk out to the woods and
just stand there staring into them that's him why i did that he said he was
waiting to be taken he went farther into the woods when she tried to talk to him more one time
the same girl said she heard him talking into the air vents like usual she was tired and it was upsetting her
so she went to get her parents and have him sent to bed on her way she noticed timmy was still
sound asleep in his room talking had to be coming up from the vent all on its own they said
timmy would sometimes steal food from the house and take it out into the woods when he was caught he said he had a
tree house but they never saw it if it existed. They'd sometimes wake up and find him staring at them
in the middle of the night. They had to start locking their doors. They'd winded their parents to
send him away all the time, but they were careful not to do it when Timmy was around because despite
everything, they didn't want to be mean. One time, he asked him why they wanted him to send away.
Couldn't figure out how he'd heard. He was living with him for nearly six months when something
happened that changed him. They didn't know what it was, but he stopped all of the weird
behavior all at once. He wouldn't talk to anyone. He hardly ate. And one day, he just ran away.
He's been a missing person ever since. His parents never turned up to look for him. There's no
evidence either way, so the case went nowhere. What if what if it's fucking Timmy growing up?
That's what I thought. I had that thought earlier. That now he's, because that old guy was probably an
older dude, so now Timmy is the one doing the same thing. Yeah.
Or he's the one who's like sitting there looking back or there are multiple.
It's like a two-man job now.
It could be Timmy is just like indoctrinated.
You know what this kind of makes me think of just a little bit too.
It's not really the same.
But I don't know why.
It's giving me like 1999 vibes a little bit, isn't it?
Yeah.
Like do you have a weird predatory figure, Lord, you know, for children and stuff like that?
Yeah.
The parents are somewhat involved or whatever.
But it's just this like, I don't know.
Like I just keep getting like just like little taste of that.
Yeah.
Yeah, I can see that.
Not so much the like, you know, video consent.
different formats of the scares getting to him, but yeah.
They also said years later, when his house burned down,
pictures of the fire appeared in the local newspaper.
People talked about it for weeks because in the picture,
smoke looked just like the devil, horns and everything.
They tried to find the newspaper in their closets,
but neither of them could find it.
I included that part not because I believed in a horn devil
that manifests itself in smoke patterns.
I think it's interesting that his cousins thought he was so creepy,
the devil would be in the smoke particles coming off of the burning house.
That's what I know about Timmy.
He hasn't been seen or heard from since, from all I could find out.
Same for his parents.
Where his home was, it's just a lush field of rhododendrons.
One last thing.
After Dad left last night, I noticed my mailbox lid was up.
I knew I closed it earlier when I checked the mail.
So I looked inside.
Found an envelope with a Polaroid photo inside.
An old one, too.
it was of me, mom, and dad all at the park together.
This park is actually the same place where dad grew up.
The houses are mostly gone.
Hyman's general store is still there as a museum.
I had to be only four or five in the picture.
I don't even remember mom going to the park with us.
I wondered if dad found it and stuck it in my mailbox,
but dad wouldn't bother to bring it to me if he had found it.
You wouldn't see the value in it.
I kept looking at it.
wondering what he was doing there.
It took me a surprising long time to see it.
In the background, in the thick Johnson grass,
there was a man crouched down and watching us.
He was barely visible.
I couldn't discern his face or any expression in his eyes.
I just had a vague but real feeling he meant to do us harm.
I don't want to be too alarmist.
I think this is a pretty good reason for a large, buddy.
I think this is a long time.
the fucking alarms. This is alarm time. Can we?
The strange things happening to me may all have innocent explanations and I'm just jumping.
Yeah, man. Sure. How many people in their life know, I don't know, two or three missing persons?
Sound the alarms. Oh. Just like, have you ever once gone a plurant of yourself owned by someone that wasn't like your friend of your family? Just start there.
How many people have had a Polaroid of you and your family delivered in the mailbox?
with a man stalking you in the background.
Coincidentally, whenever you're recovering
or bringing up horrors from your past.
When you're trying to find who this guy was,
pictures start showing up and you get weird calls.
People have been calling him every other day.
I'm outside your house.
And texting from his number to his ads.
I don't want to be, I don't want to cry wolf here, but.
I don't want to get anyone rolled up or nothing,
but me think something fishy is of what.
Not so long
culture has gone two folks
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah this guy's
Mogging in his house
I don't want to
I want to get anyone upset
But I think a pedophile
Is trying to kill me
Yeah you think he's looking
I'm in the fucking yard
Pedophiles like
He's doing the backwards
But really it's the lamps on
He can only see his reflection
In the mirror
And he's just like this
Or in the window
whatever.
He looks at the window.
He's like,
it's a much terrifying thing I've ever seen.
Yeah, the guy's out and the fucking foaming at the mouth.
I don't want to,
I don't want to imply something's going on here,
but I think,
he's morbidly obese.
Not yet,
not this story.
It's just me.
It's me with a shave beard,
just like rubbing my egg shape,
like there's no chin to neck.
It's all just egg.
I'm just doing this.
you're shaving with the machete
and I still want to get to the bottom of things
my investigations hit a bit of a dead end
but I'll keep you all posted
into part four
all right part five
part five baby
oh I like the top of the title of this
confessions
part five yeah the dad's like well
maybe I haven't been super transparent
with you yeah oh really
it's getting to the point where it's like dad i don't care what trauma you got this is a do or die
yeah give me what you got yeah holy shit we get it you're a sad sap fucking alcoholic
why don't you just fucking tell me what's going on how about you can drink about it all you want
yeah yeah yeah exactly drink yourself to death after work the fucking hey this is chop chop chop
important information again i have to thank you all for the input i realize i've been stupid and glib
well at least at least he's quickly put together that this is
is a serious situation.
Alright, so maybe I have been a little stupid.
I've always been passive and I don't like getting too excited about things.
Thinking about it, maybe it all goes back to when I'd freak out over those flashing lights.
My dad would tell me it was in my head, downplayed everything.
So now I just kind of have to do the same.
Still, it's a character flaw, not his.
I have to take responsibility.
So I went ahead and called in a wellness check on my mom.
And I went ahead and called the police about the photograph and strange text.
I called Dad over since I knew they'd want to see his phone.
This is where things got perplexing.
The police officer who responded seemed to know Dad pretty well.
He was an older man about Dad's age, maybe a little older.
I never met him before.
Dad introduced him as Kirby and said they used to live a few houses from each other,
back where they grew up.
Kirby did most of what I expected from the police.
Looked at the photograph, checked out the text, took my statement.
He decided to hold on to the photograph just in case,
but he said it wasn't likely there's anything the police could do about it.
Once he was done with me, he gestured for my dad to come outside with him for a talk.
I don't think he realized I saw.
Dad told me to wait inside and he'd be back in a moment.
There have just been so many secrets lately, so I listened in to the door.
Thank God.
Are you just saying, like, I listen to the door, thank God you did or something?
Yeah, I was saying, thank God that he's like, yeah, I'm going to listen in.
I'm not letting this one slip, yeah.
Does he know anything about it?
Kirby asked.
Dad answered, I couldn't hear it.
That's what this is, isn't it?
Sure looks like it.
Again, no audible answer.
What we did back then.
He was saying, but dad interrupted him to say,
It was a long time ago.
This here's just a dumb prank.
Quit being stubborn, stupid Francis.
Nobody ever called dad by Francis.
It was always Frank or Frankie.
Calling him Francis was a good way to break your jaw,
so it was calling him stupid.
but that didn't say anything back.
What the hell else could this mean?
Smartn't up.
We did the right thing.
Anyhow.
You know it.
Says you.
Says me too.
Some might not agree.
Watch yourself, Francis.
100%
those boys killed this guy.
As they should.
As they should.
As is their moral right?
Isaiah.
Bear trap.
I think they fucking killed Timmy.
I think that something was going on with Timmy.
and they disposed of him because he was the weird kid.
I don't know.
No, I think they killed the original pedophile,
the original creep, and now the Mr. Freud.
Do you think the copycat is Timmy?
Yes.
I think Timmy had been, like, groomed by this guy,
and the locals found it,
and this guy who's a cop and the guys were like,
we're just going to get rid of that.
I'm just saying the Paul Dano is actually Timmy.
And then that's what I'm saying is like,
I bet you they kept the motherfucker and they're like,
what is going on to him?
And they were, that's what I'm like,
oh, he just, he ran away one day.
He did the right thing.
Because Timmy was a weird kid and everyone
suspected him, but it's clear there was an
influence that was dragging him out to the woods.
I think the dad was, is like,
fucking, you need to tell me what the fuck's happening.
Because my, also, especially after Flora
went missing, I think he,
I think he, I could believe
that. But the fact that all the guys are in
on them doing the right thing, I think
maybe they talked to Timmy or they found
Timmy being held by the pedophile or whatever.
The dudes killed this guy.
And then Timmy, Lord knows where he went, but now Timmy's back doing the same thing.
I mean, we'll see.
Because age-wise, I think that matches up, too.
Because Timmy would be his dad's age.
And his pedophile would be like 80 at this point.
So I think it's more likely that Timmy's just copy-catting.
Well, Timmy's his protagonist age.
No, Timmy's his dad's age.
Was that?
Oh, because, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Timmy's his dad's age.
So I think that they killed the first one.
So the guy that we saw when our protagonist was younger was Timmy with the Ramon shirt on it.
Yes.
That's what I think.
I mean, I can see that too.
But I still think.
I,
Yeah, it might be both.
I kind of feel like they might have killed the pedophile.
But then it was this awkward thing where Timmy saw it or they were questioning him too.
And then it could be the, it could go.
I'm just saying the way they chain it up and they decide what to do with him.
The way they've been,
the way they've been barking about that.
dad not like it to me i'm like i bet you that motherfucker did something that little boy if i murdered a man
if i killed a guy i would not years later be like i hate that kid i did not like that kid i just
wouldn't talk about it hey i could see some a drunk though being maybe i never liked him maybe a drunk
i never liked them yeah what i the smarter thing to do which again the alcohol does give like a
preclusion to that but the smarter thing to do would to be like uh oh yeah i remember that guy like just
yeah yeah if you're doing a fucking o j simpson this is how like
I would have done it.
Yeah, exactly.
Sure.
But I think our original thing, I think it's really cool.
I think they killed a child creep at some point.
I'm open to any.
I just, my mind is open in each of these parts.
I'm like, hmm.
Yeah, yeah.
Kirby got in his car and left right after that.
Assuming he and the first question was me, I can say, I don't know anything about what they were saying.
I asked dad when he came back in.
He didn't get mad.
He said it was just something that happened along.
time ago and to mind my own business. I told him this had become my business. I reminded him what he
told me about the pictures he found in that old house because he thought I was old enough to hear it
now. He said, I guess I was wrong. That was that. Again, the only thing that justifies this level
of secrecy is if his dad murdered someone and they're trying to not tell. Because if Kirby's in on it too,
he's not only implicating himself by telling his son, he's implicating all the guys that would have been
involved. Yeah, Uncle Matt and all this shit. Yeah, so like, take it to the grave kind of thing.
I tried calling mom to see if she had any insight, but there was no answer. Not unusual, though.
I'm still glad I called that check on her. My bitch is dead. I worry. I called Uncle Matt next.
To my surprised, he said he had something he wanted to show me and he'd be over later. And he did come,
what he showed me really shook me up. And it made things make a little more sense. That's why it shook
me. Uncle Matt's confession. Uncle Matt told me a lot more things happened when they were children
than I'd ever hear about. Not that he wouldn't talk about them, but he didn't think he even could.
Some of those things stuck with him, he said, and they bothered him all the same. What he used to have
fun doing started to make him feel sick. He thought about killing himself a few times, even took himself
to the sanatorium for a day. I had no idea about any of this. Either to dad, he said, you didn't want
anyone to know. He started seeing a therapist after this, something dad would have made fun of.
I don't know if that's true, but it's what Uncle Matt thought. Therapist insisted he'd try
hypnosis sessions because he was just holding back too much. He agreed. What he brought with him
was an old cassette tape the therapist let him keep one of those sessions. We put it in my CD,
cassette, record player, and listened. On the recording, Uncle Matt was talking about the day Florida
disappeared.
He said he remembered getting a call from someone asking him to come to Timmy's.
He knew the person talking to him wasn't Timmy.
The person sounded weird, frantic.
He tried to tell the person no, but this man kept saying he really was Timmy,
and he was really lonely down here,
and he needed them to come listen to the music records with him,
especially the new one.
On the recording, Uncle Matt said that he figured Timmy had to be there, at least,
and he wanted to hear the new record.
So he got Flora and Dad.
Don't bother giving them any details about the phone call.
On the way there, Dad left to go meet a girlfriend or something, so he and Flora went alone.
When they got to the house, the front door was left open and they could hear the song Love Hurts playing from upstairs.
They'd heard the song before, so they knew it wasn't the new album.
That was good because they wanted to listen to it for the first time altogether.
When they got upstairs, Timmy wasn't there.
He remembered the room smelled like burning tires.
It never smelled like that before.
Uncle Mac took the needle off the record.
Then he noticed Flora backed up in the corner and whimpering.
Uncle Matt looked where she was looking because she was looking right at something.
He hadn't seen it at all.
But there was a man laying down under the bed.
His face poked out of the dark just enough for them to see his blank stare and huge smile.
Smile just didn't look right.
There was no happiness in it at all.
He started coming out from under the bed.
The man was looking straight up Flora and shouted,
I don't see you in the dark anymore.
Uncle Matt stood between Flora and the man because he was scared of for Flora.
The burning smell was stronger, the closer the man got.
He thought he'd seen the man before a few years ago.
The man put Love Hertz back on and laughed.
The laugh sounded fake like an animal imitating a human.
He danced around them, laughing something.
times and then screaming like he was in pain. He kept putting the needle to the beginning of the
track and dancing. One time when the man went to move the needle back to the beginning of love
hurts, Uncle Matt told Flora to get out. She ran, but the man put his hand on Matt's shoulder.
I like you when you sleep. He yelled Matt around the neck and they danced backwards around the room,
over and over. Sometimes he made sounds like a wounded creature. No wonder Matt can't remember
anything. This isn't the most traumatizing experience a child could have. This is enough, like, I mean,
bottle it up and, you know, try to bury it deep. Oh, yeah, we all went over there together and listened
with Timmy. Yeah. After a while, he let go and crawled back under the bed. He was lying on his
back, looking up at the mattress. Uncle Matt figured he could leave. He was scared to try because he
thought the man might stop him. But he started out the room to the stairs anyway. He looked back
just in case. The man wasn't under the bed anymore.
He'd already gotten up.
It was just a few feet behind Uncle Matt.
Oh, God.
Oh, God.
He froze when Uncle Matt looked at him and didn't move a muscle.
Uncle Matt backed the rest of the way down the stairs and out of the house.
The man never moved.
If I just listened to my gut, we would have never gone there.
If I kept your with me.
If I kept floor with me, she might have been okay.
If I'd been smarter and gone with her right away.
She'd be okay.
All the time I know it's my fault and she's gone and she ain't coming back.
It's where the tape ended.
Uncle Matt listened to the whole tape with me with his head down.
He told me he really doesn't remember it happening that way at all.
He said he was sure he told me the truth, but he wanted me to hear this.
I think Uncle Matt was so traumatized by what happened.
He isn't able to remember it.
I don't blame him.
It's on the tape matches up with the story my dad told me.
So it's probably right.
Uncle Matt didn't know who that guy was or what happened to him.
But if he was with Matt and Timmy was with dad,
that guy couldn't have been involved in what happened to Flora any more than Timmy was.
Or at least, it's not very probable.
Dad's confessions.
Another bit of information just fell into my lap.
It's funny the way things all happened at once.
Like, I've never heard an old song.
Suddenly you'll hear it three times in a day.
Mom called later that same night.
She wanted to know what I called for.
I told her about what I'd overheard
Dad and Kirby saying.
She said she never wanted to believe it, but it must be true.
I told her she had to tell me.
She agreed.
What she told me isn't what I expected at all.
She said a long time ago,
a sad, lonely man was placed in the sanatorium
when they found him living in the walls of the hospital.
Yeah, no family, no friends.
Imagine your mom just like, you're like,
I mean, being on the phone, be on the phone
and actually be like, what the fuck are you talking about?
How have you never told me about this?
Yeah, so anyways, there's a guy at the sanatorium who lived in the walls.
I'd be like, is this a riddle?
Is this a poem?
There was a guy in the, they're living in the walls.
My mom will randomly drop the most crazy lore on me about my dad too.
We've talked about some of my dads.
My mom will just out of nowhere.
I remember one, this was years back,
but I remember one time we were talking about a train
like we were just talking about like a train that
on a railroad track going through a town
mom goes you know when I was a little girl
there's this guy we were all afraid of called the train man
and when we were kids anytime the train would stop
and it was near night there'd be this man in the woods
and he would walk around and he was probably a hobo
or something to move with the trains so
my parents told us that he was a bad man
and we shouldn't be out there but anytime we didn't hear
from our friends for a while, we would always joke that the train man got him.
That feels a little more innocent and more folk-taleish.
That feels a little more innocent and folk-taleish than your mom also just being like,
yeah, so all the stuff going on.
I should probably tell you about what happened with the guy who's living in the walls of the sanatorium.
Well, if this goes somewhere where it directly connects, yes.
But I can also see-
It's going to connect.
Oh, well, it will connect.
I'm saying if the mom knows it connects.
Oh, right?
Like maybe she hears all these details now.
And she's like, I bet that does.
But that guy should have to your birthday.
party once, but we didn't think much of it.
Yeah, yeah. If that happens, then yes, then yes.
But if it's just like there was this local legend, you know, that I didn't think was real.
Could be different.
You know, it's crazy.
Someone the other day told me that when they used to work at a youth bookstore, they found out one of their coworkers living in the falls of the youth.
Whoa.
They said they kind of knew something was going on because they'd come in and things would kind of like,
that shouldn't have been in the bookstore were kind of slept out and scattered around and then also like things would be out of place or they couldn't find the laptop and a couple like a couple days they opened the laptop and there was just porn on it just the work laptop and then they finally found the guy in the walls naked um oh my gosh and yeah he was like watching porn on the work laptop and he had like oh yeah because they would come in they would find they found like empty cans and they found like empty cans and they
and stuff and like alcohol.
So like, okay, something, someone is in here.
And then they finally found him.
Oh my gosh.
Did he work at the bookstore too?
Or he just lived there.
He said that he worked at the, or they called him.
They referred to him as an ex-co worker.
So I think so.
Oh, so he got fired and he's just like,
I'm just going to stay in the walls.
Oh, maybe.
Yeah, I don't know if he got fired.
I think the implication is he would like clock.
He was working there, but also living in the walls.
Okay.
Yeah.
Living in the walls.
And once he got caught, obviously he got fired.
Yeah.
Man, my gosh.
He said he was a nice.
nice guy otherwise. I'm sure he was.
He just liked to hang out. A, just like to drink
fucking hams in the walls and beat his cock,
watching some porn. Happens. That's terrifying.
I covered, uh,
not long ago, a, I forget his name,
but a killer who lived in the walls of this family for like years.
Like he would go to his house,
but then at night he would come over to theirs and like sneak into the walls.
And he got so bold to one point, like the family.
It was like a teenage girl and like a couple of younger brothers or something.
Their mama died and the daughter had,
got a Ouija board and was trying to talk to her mom and the killer would knock on the walls like he was the ghost of their mom responding yeah that's a
yeah all that shit you mean it happens man it's fucking creepy there's that really infamous fucking story of like the dad who was like impregnating his daughter and like kept her in like a hidden 27 years 27 years
in the like behind a wall in a basement and like a whole another room that was built
unfucking believable how fucking sick and sadistic people can be
just monster literal primitive brain
I mean I don't know how the fuck you
it's insane animals malicious yeah it's
there is that thing too I forgot to bring it up when we're at ceces
but there was like that Kansas ceces thing
where like a manager
was basically like sex slaving a co like a younger girl
coworker because she like they set something up at the ceases
well they worked together
Not at his house, but they were employees.
Well, I doesn't make any better, but I don't want to sound really.
You said that was like, oh, not my CCCs.
Macra and cheese pizza shouldn't be violent.
And she was like living with them because he probably swooped in.
She was young and he was like, oh, you could like.
And live with me.
Oh, it was definitely taking advantage of a helpless person.
And then yeah, she was like, he was just like using her.
Oh, gosh.
And like keeping her there.
But then it got found out because she eventually killed him.
Oh, that's awesome.
And then, yeah, so then I found her, or she escaped and they're like, oh, my gosh, she just been in here.
Slice his throat with a pizza cutter.
Yeah, I think she, like, slid his throat.
What a boss.
That's so cool.
Yeah.
That's so cool.
Yeah.
Just kill that guy.
The little thing you used to take, to pick up the brownies.
She drove that right through his fucking chest or into his throat.
That's just horrifying to think that that was happening that he would just put on his ceases.
I can't imagine.
I mean, I cannot imagine how much that's happening right now and no one knows.
Think about what John Wayne Gacy, right?
Like he would kill boys and put them under the floorboard.
And there was one time where someone was in a car wreck, I think, near his house.
And he like put a blanket on and brought him inside, made them food.
And like the police came and visited.
And we're like, oh, we really appreciate you taking care of all, blah, blah, and leave all the whole time.
There's just bodies under the floor.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But Chuvon's even about that.
About that specifically.
Well, he just had a song about John Wang.
Oh.
Oh, I think.
or the Cece's thing.
I was like,
God damn,
dude,
making songs immediately.
Fuck.
Someone get the rights to that.
She said a long time ago,
sad, lonely man
was placed in the sanatorium
when they found him
living in the walls
of the hospital.
Yeah, no family
and no friends.
After they determined
he was harmless,
they released him.
He wandered through the woods
for days.
He wandered so far back,
got lost,
and was thirsty and hungry.
Then he found a house.
Thought it was strange
for a house to be
in the middle of the woods,
but he needed food.
and water. An old man came to the door and let him in. He had no idea how long he was in there.
Something bad happened in that house. So he ran and ran away from the house as fast as he could.
He ran until he came to a little one-store town, dad's hometown. Some of the children in the town
would talk to him and bring him sandwiches because he made them think he was a good ghost.
One lonely boy in particular gave him a place to stay. Timmy showed him music, got him all the food he wanted.
he taught Timmy all the tricks he learned in his life
hiding and listening and crawling
the things he learned from the house in the woods
got so used to the boy
get mad if Timmy left the home or did anything
spend time with him
he tried to hide himself as much as possible
but when Flora disappeared
people noticed him
they figured out he'd been sane with Timmy
and they figured he did something to Flora
my dad remembered what Flora had said about
seen a man in the woods and he remembered the voice in the bathroom sink he riled up everyone against the
man so he hid even more he had well enough everyone thought he was just gone when he thought they'd
forgotten about it he figured he could go back to normal but they hadn't forgotten dad saw him
got some people in town together they chased him all the way to dad's house dad followed him under the
house. When he thought he'd cornered him, he followed him up through a hole in the floor,
took him right under Dad's bed. Dad saw there were trinkets and bedding under there, like the man
had been sleeping right under him all along. Dad was so mad, he dragged the man out. They beat him
when they were done beating him, they burned him up. And when they were done burning him,
they buried him. Never talked about it since. They agreed they just did what they had to do.
What they did was murder. That's awesome.
That's so cool.
You've been in my house, dude?
That's sick.
And that explains, again, why his dad doesn't want to bring it up.
Because in his dad's mind, it's like, yeah, that guy's dead.
He's not coming back around, you know?
It's Timmy, though.
Yeah.
No, no.
The new one's Timmy.
The new one's Timmy.
Yeah, yeah.
That's how mom told it.
Such a weird story.
I wasn't like her to talk like that.
Asked where she even heard the story.
she just said it was another one of those things dad would say when he'd been in the gin she said that one took a lot of gin
bothered him more than anything else i didn't know whether to believe it or not i changed the subject
i told her i called a wellness check on her because i was worried she told me i shouldn't have done that
why she said that i was wasting police time she wasn't even at her home she was on a business trip
uh-huh i guess this whole thing made me bolder the next day i confronted
dad about what mom told me.
Asked him if it was true.
He just asked.
Where did you hear that?
I told him, mom said,
I'll never forget this for the rest of my life.
He placed his hands on my shoulders like he's only done once before when he gave me the
life advice I'd need after graduating high school.
And he said,
son,
I never told your mother that.
And she's not from our town.
I fucking,
I said that he was imitating the mom.
Yeah.
Yep.
100%.
So,
Timmy?
Timmy.
Yeah.
It's nice down here.
You should come down here.
He's got like a voice thing or some like faux code or inst-
Or even just over a phone.
You could be like, oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, you don't need you.
You're wasting police time.
He said the baby monitor noise.
Also, yeah.
Don't call the police because you're wasting their time.
You shouldn't have done that.
Yeah.
The fucking mom's blood eagled in the fucking back room.
Timby's sitting there
counting the fucking like popcorn
you know the popcorn ceilings he's counting on the dots
one two three four five six seven yeah
yeah the way he said it like he knew something
was horribly wrong scared the life out of me
this mystery is upsetting my life and family in the worst way
because it's in my ideas
brushed it off as mom being a major B
I think there was something more
I still don't know if the story was true or false
won't give me a straight answer
but he won't deny it either.
Lastly, I did get a response on the wellness check.
They were led into Mom's House by a house sitter.
The sitter said she's been in the home for a week and there's nothing to worry about.
The officer called Mom and she backed up everything the sitter said.
Looks like Mom's story checks out.
The officer who called me said he was running his trace on her cell phone anyway because something wasn't sitting right.
I'm not sure where to go with this investigation next.
I'm a little scared to keep going, to be honest.
even if I knew what to do next.
If I find out anything more, as always, I'll share.
I'm beginning to hate the dad.
This whole thing about like, I shouldn't.
I'm not even going to confirm it.
It's becoming to the point where you're like,
fuck you, dude.
Again, the only thing that gives me grace to me is if it's a murder,
he's trying to keep others not implicated in.
However, if that is true,
that he never told his wife that,
and someone pretending to be his wife told his son that.
Well, even the dad's response to like,
oh, your mom's just being a major bitch.
Well, maybe what it's being implied there is that,
like since the divorce or whatever,
his mom heard that story.
Oh, and it's like, that's just like a rumor spur of, right?
Don't listen to her.
Yeah.
So he's still under the purview.
Just say that, though.
Just say that.
And it's still under the purview of like,
yeah, I killed that guy.
So he's not causing problems anymore.
but at the same time
these problems are still happening.
You still saw the photographs in the house, right?
Maybe he could assume
that was the house of the guy he killed
and it's been there for years or something,
but yeah, say something.
Part six.
It's been a rough week.
I've been able to reply to comments.
I'll understand why after reading,
but I still needed to write this.
Get it out.
I don't think you know what a support you all have been.
After my last update, I did something I haven't done since mom left.
I broke down.
I called mom up and told her everything that's been going on and how it's been affecting me.
I told her I couldn't take it anymore.
I have a regular life. I should be leading.
I have a job and friends, but I'm trapped in this maze of lies and secret.
She said she would book a flight immediately.
Then we get with my dad and talk things over the three of us.
I told her she didn't have to do that.
I know she's busy.
Bless she and dad still hate each other.
She told me she still loves Dad and always has.
It just had too many differences.
You couldn't accept her for who she was,
but she always thought it was their destiny to be together.
Her happiness in life was the hope that we'd all be a family,
like we should be.
I don't know if she was just saying this to make me feel better.
It did make me feel better.
It also felt weird hearing Mom talk like this.
She was never the most emotional person.
I thought that's why she was a good fit for Dad,
because you have to be thick skin to be around him.
She said she'd see me soon to put an end to this and said,
I hope your dad makes this the right choice.
I wonder what she was referring to, but she was gone before I could ask.
I called up dad right away and let him know,
because her flight couldn't take longer than four to five hours.
She'd be arriving in time for dinner.
As I expected, this wasn't welcome news to him,
but not for the reasons I expected.
Turns out he's been getting reacquainted with Betty Coffin.
I said that seems like a strange coincidence.
Not at all.
telling the story reminded him of her.
Curves, son.
This is how he described her.
Are you back in on the dad a little bit?
No, no.
She'd sent him a message while back telling him she'd gotten back in town.
He'd just been too busy to ride her back and then he forgot.
So happened, they made dinner plans that evening.
He'd be going to her place.
Dad hadn't really bothered much with relationships after he and mom divorced.
He tried.
Every so often, he'd meet a woman he really liked and seemed to like.
him well enough to introduce her to me.
Something would always happen that scared them away.
Used to joke that he was cursed.
I think he probably internalized that.
It's pretty much never his fault though.
Yeah, he starts like dating someone and he gets drunk and he's like,
we burned him.
I want to drink gin and go look at the boy chained up in my basement downstairs.
God, I'm cursed.
These ladies, what do they want?
Ladies.
Sonia.
accused him of calling her in the middle of the night
and telling her weird things.
I overheard the fight. I remember one of the things
was, you'd be so much better without bones.
And he kept calling her jellyfish.
I know Dad wouldn't do that.
You would never think of something so surreal
in a million years, but she believed it was him.
So I assume this is Timmy over the years
pretending to be people
who over this person is.
What I don't understand, though, is how is he getting their phone
and how is he getting...
Because, like, if people are calling,
it would be like, oh, yeah, a random number called me.
It's coming from.
from the dad's phone.
Well, they mentioned the party lines, and it's the same old town.
So maybe, like, his dad's still using a landline or something.
His dad still has a flip phone.
I don't know how the son then, because the son has access to the internet, obviously.
So I don't know how he got his number.
But the others, I would imagine, like, he's jacked into people's phones and stuff.
Andrea said she started to notice things in her house would move while she was asleep,
and it only started when she started seeing dad, her CD collection in particular.
She also said one night she woke up because she heard dad get up and go to the kitchen.
She looked out into the kitchen and saw him staring into the fridge.
She started drifting back to sleep again when she heard more noise.
The fridge door was still open, but she couldn't see him anymore.
This got her mad, so she shouted for him to keep it down and close the fridge door.
That's when dad said,
What the hell's going on?
He was still lying in bed right beside her.
She wouldn't have anything to do with him after that.
That seemed, you know what, on that one?
Little cruel to break up with a guy because you have a home intruder.
Yeah.
Someone's in the house
It scared me.
I'm divorcing you.
Oh,
man.
Parker was my favorite
of all dad's girlfriends.
She was a tomboy type.
She left camping and she traveled a lot.
So I'd hear all about different countries from her.
She also talked about strange things happening while with dad.
Like hearing him talk to her when he wasn't in the house.
But she didn't let it get to her.
They weren't together for a while.
One night,
she had an accident while driving out into a remote stretch that leads to a dinky copper mining town nearby.
She died a day later in the hospital from complications.
It didn't seem important at the time, but now I remember Dad wondering,
why'd she been driving out that way anyway?
And her sister yelling at Dad that he told Parker to meet him out there.
There were other incidents.
I probably don't know about all of them,
but this one, back when I got Dad set up on ICQ in like 2000 or so,
he started talking to this chick.
He said she hit him up.
He was a two-finger typeer,
so I imagine it took a while to bang out messages.
After he got interested enough to ask for pictures,
she sent him a zip file full of them.
All pictures of himself with a black silhouette.
MS painted into the shot.
I traced the account as best I could,
and it got me to an address.
The general store out in the national park.
you just wanted to drop it and we did
I just don't
just let it go buddy
this guy sending pictures of myself
with a shadow man beside me
broads am I right
Curves son
I feel like with that one line
Curve son I understand him
even more
anyway
Anyway so much bad luck and love
I guess I was happy for him
I shouldn't be alone forever
It's just awful timing
I wondered if he was even putting her in danger by dating her,
but I couldn't tell him that.
Told him I deal with Mom and he could have his date.
While I waited around for Mom to call and let me know she'd arrived,
I decided to search my house for holes, bedding, and such.
I don't think that's paranoia at this point,
but there were no holes under the bed, no nest in the closet.
The plumbing seemed secure.
The vince blew air smoothly.
Then I noticed the fridge didn't look straight.
I actually thought I was being ridiculous,
so I tried to distract myself.
I end up pulling it out anyway.
I never believed anything would be there,
but there it was.
A little hole,
size enough for a little boy to squeeze into.
A little hole.
That's a fucking big hole.
If a little boy...
It's like...
Oh, look at that little hole.
An eight-year-old could probably squeeze in there.
So what?
It's like a three-foot by like four-foot wide hole or something?
It's like a Home Depot pre-tanked lights.
I got a flashlight in my machete.
I'm just going to blundering guy to death in the...
I got the slinging rock, dude.
You're just standing back down the hall.
Uh, tink, tink.
Huh.
Tink, t, t, t, t, t, t,
you can hear it like bouncing down the crates.
Got a flashlight in my machete.
I was so sure someone's hand would grab me
the moment I put my head in.
No one was in there, though.
The space was only wide enough
for a very slim man to stand very stiff.
And I didn't see any holes in the wall
where he could look into the next room,
my bedroom.
It would have just been standing there, staring into the darkness behind my fridge.
What would be the point?
I kept wondering.
Then I saw the doll.
It was made of twigs and had my face on it.
Huh.
I don't want to talk about it, buddy.
Dad, I'm hanging on the living room tonight and I have my slaying in my rock.
That's like gunpoint at your dad.
You better start talking.
You talk.
Every time you don't answer my question, I'm cutting off a toe.
I'm throwing these rocks at you.
Yeah, you're getting a fucking, he's out on the couch.
A rock to the knee.
Talk, dad.
Just looking made me feel uncomfortable.
Really?
I refused to touch it.
Call me superstitious, but it felt unnatural.
Yeah?
Does it?
I think he means supernatural.
We can all agree this is unnatural.
Well, it only says unnatural.
I'd only made that discovery when I saw another doll behind it, bigger and seeming to watch the smaller doll.
Its face was a picture of someone who just looked evil.
I don't know what evil should really look like.
I just know this face made me feel like evil was there.
I've learned my lesson.
I immediately called the police and requested Detective Kirby.
I got on the line before I had a chance to speak.
He asked me if I was okay and if I was alone.
answered yes to both questions.
As far as I know.
But I wanted to know why.
He said he'd been about to call me.
He said they just got word from the police department in my mom's town.
Uh-oh.
He hesitated.
I figured they found someone broken to her house or a creepy letter.
But what he had to say was a lot worse than that.
They found what they believed to be her body deep in a wooded area.
It was so remote, it was pure chance, a camper founder.
I assured him that whoever they found was not my mother.
I'd just spoken to her.
She was on her way.
The line went silent.
I insisted that I'd be allowed to make an identification
so they can drop this nonsense.
Kirby said the body was past identifying.
She'd been dead for over a year.
Dental records confirmed it was her.
The only identifiable thing
was her Ramon's t-shirt.
I hung up on him.
You just pulled
a fridge off the wall.
And there is a statue of you with the devil,
effectively, of twigs.
And then you call the police and you're like,
yeah, your mom's been dead a year.
I was just talking to her.
No, she's super dead.
You were not talking to your mom.
What is your first course of action
besides killing yourself?
I'm at a loss of words.
I don't even know what to...
I think I'm calling the National Guard.
I'm getting Batman involved.
I think I even...
I think I just bail.
I think I bail.
I think I go to my dad's immediately.
The dad,
the dad's dad,
someone's in the house.
The dad has something to do with it,
in my opinion.
And the mom's dad.
The dad is got to be compliant in some way.
Is what I think.
Let's see what he does.
I hung up on him.
I had no idea how to process this information.
If someone tells you the sky's brown and salt is sweet,
do you accept it immediately?
What the fuck?
Are you talking about? I get what he's saying. I get what he's saying. You just talk to your mom.
Imagine right now, I'm like, hey, Hunter. You're not. I got it. I got it. I got it.
For a year. You'd be like, I'm emotional. Harry, get me a pink red bull.
Did you give? I fired up. I need to calm my heart down. Give me some caffeine.
Respect the mob, dude. Respect our main character. Yeah, he hangs up the phone and he's like, I'm's dead.
Curious. Yeah. That's tough. That's tough. Mommy, mommy, mommy dead with her tits.
tagging in the forest. He's doing the mom thing
like, or the mog thing.
Help me! Oh yeah.
Help!
Someone please help me!
Yeah. I've been speaking to my mom every two weeks
for the last several years and never noticed
a change in her behavior or personality
until the last few days.
If she was dead, who was I speaking
to all this time? It had been
to her. I know my own mother's
voice or mannerisms. She knew
everything my mom should know.
So I started to wonder about this detective Kirby character.
Maybe he wasn't on the level.
He seemed to have a strange hold over my dad, calling him Francis like that.
So I called up the police department in Mom's Town.
When I identified myself, I was immediately transferred to a detective.
He told me the trace on the phone had come back.
All calls from that phone were coming from my own town.
Moreover, the phone is even registered to a local address.
I felt an emptiness inside.
I still feel it.
It's only gotten worse.
I didn't even have to ask about Detective Kirby anymore
I asked anyway and it was confirmed
but I already knew
could it have been my mother I've been talking to
she was dead
I needed to let dad know right away
I tried calling him
and went straight to voicemail
you know it's got funny though
him sitting there and it's like
hey mom how's your Sunday going
editor put up like loud crackling sounds
like you'd hear on a phone you know
almost like a like a cassette recording
of something
Kitto?
Cows?
Just, you know, hanging out, I don't know.
Works been a little tough lately.
Twisting his nipples really hard on that line.
What hurts, Mommy?
My nipples when I twist them.
It hurts my.
You know, you hear.
Mommy, is that lobster or crab right there?
It's the chip clips.
I keep putting them on my, my nips.
All right, cool.
Well, I'll call you again soon, Mom.
Oh, my God.
I hope this meant he was already with Betty and was safe.
I decided to look up Betty Coffin
so I could call her and reach him that way.
I found her number with an online phone lookup
as a landline.
Called it just in case.
Someone in her household knew her cell number.
Young-sounding woman answered the phone.
She sounded a little over-excited to get a call
like she'd been waiting.
I introduced myself and explained that I really needed to get through to Betty, and it was an emergency.
Is this some kind of joke?
Almost lost my temper, but she explained first.
My mother's been missing for a week, sir.
I called Detective Kirby back.
Hey, who, one minute.
Who haven't you heard from so far?
Do what?
Who haven't he heard from so far?
Francis.
Well, I think the implication is he's about to go on a date with Betty, and he's actually
getting lured out by Timmy.
Okay.
I called Detective Kirby bag.
Thames is used to keep the chips fresh.
I told him he'd had...
It's Larry the cable guy bit.
Hey, shut out Larry.
I told him he had to get to dads right away
because he was in trouble.
And as succinct as manner as possible,
I told him what I knew.
I was hyperventilating.
I don't know how he understood half of it.
I'm so glad he listened to believe me, though.
I couldn't stand just waiting at home.
I got in my car and rushed to dads.
The lights were on when I arrived.
a good sign I thought
the front door was unlocked
when I walked in I heard music
uh oh I recognized the song actually
it was Bobby Darren's dream lover
I never heard dad listen to anything but country
but maybe he was trying to impress the girl
maybe she came to his place instead
I called out for him but he did an answer
dad's always had such amazing hearing
even in his age he could hear way better than me
and he was a great dad
he's I understand why he's writing this
because he's about to find his dad dead.
So he's being reminiscent like he was a great dad.
I just love the compliment of like,
my dad's hearing is so good.
Yeah.
My dad's hearing is a lot better than your dad's.
Well, my dad's hearing's so good.
I wish he was alive.
What's up, champ?
How did you hear that?
Good old hearing.
How did you hear that?
Hear dad.
That's what I always say.
I haven't always made him sound great.
He's my hero, you know.
I knew something was wrong when he did an answer.
I searched everywhere downstairs.
He's my hero.
He's just sorry to cut you off.
Like I said,
he's my hero, you know?
The dad has kept him like...
In danger.
At a 10 foot pole distance the entire time.
Again, he's saying...
He's like, trying to give his dad a hug
and the dad has a little 10-foot pole that he's like this.
He's like, I love you, daddy.
Daddy, I love you.
Get back!
His dad is dead and he's being nostalgic.
Oh, dream weaver.
knew something was wrong when he didn't answer i searched everywhere downstairs the damn song kept
playing on a loop wasn't even coming from dad's stereo it went upstairs next song started over just as i got to the
top when i got to dad's bedroom i saw where the music was coming from a record player was on his bed
i stared at it not really comprehending why i was so afraid to go near it i wasn't thinking straight
took me too long to realize it but the song couldn't be on loop someone had to be hand looped
pooping it. I backed into a corner involuntarily. I felt control of my bladder near slipping.
I even screamed when I heard something downstairs, but I heard them say, police!
And almost cried with relief. The whole time, he was watching me. All I saw was an eye at first,
looking at me through a hole in dad's box spring. It started to panic again. The officers,
one was Detective Kirby, drew their guns. I pointed to the box spring as a hand reached out and
set the needle back to the beginning of the song.
They demanded the man get out.
Started to make awful sounds.
I never heard anything like it.
Inhuman screams.
And one intelligible thing in all the screams.
Sleep at me!
Gosh.
Cold chills swept over me like only once before.
They finally dug him out.
It was the man I'd seen at the building site.
Yeah, the weirdo that shouted at me, the same one that gave me chills before.
He was wearing a dress and a wig with some smeared makeup and a bloodied nose, but it was the same man.
I could barely stand to look at the creature, but he wouldn't stop staring at me.
I asked where dad was, and he said, in my mother's voice,
Giving birth to you was the happiest day of my life.
Oh, gosh.
Bros.
You've been talking to your mom for years
and then in your perfect mom's voice.
Oh.
I felt nauseous.
Then, in a perfectly normal voice
in the most reasonable and yet most sinister tone
I'll ever hear, he said.
He made me so, so lonely.
But you don't.
know and i'll never say another word as long as i live he made me so so lonely yeah because he killed his
the original creep this is timmy and his he wanted revenge because his father killed the man who was his
friend and all this has been revenge for that they took him away so fast it felt like a dream
detective kirby took me with him i was left to go home and rest just only came when i passed out
while I slept they found dad
the address my mom's cell phone was registered to
was the same house where dad found the photos
Betty must have called him out there
he'd been stabbed in the neck multiple times
it's the toughest guy ever
so he was still alive when police found him
but it was too much
he didn't make it
that's really all I can say now
this was almost impossible to write
I think I must still be in shock to have written it all
there's a little more I need to say
but it's gonna have to wait a few days
end of part six.
100% Timmy.
Oh yeah, of course.
One million percent.
This has all been...
So we were right.
There were two the whole time, right?
But Timmy was the first victim and got this kind of Stockholm syndrome obsession.
So the mom...
So the mom saying that was Timmy recounting how they basically took the original creep out,
burned them, did whatever.
And he's had to live with that.
And now the dad is just like probably been lived with this guilt of like burning someone alive and stuff.
And Timmy's been...
in this level of psychosis
uh, Stockholm
syndrome, basically. A child who was
traumatized probably worse than anyone else.
And if he did run away. And it's now just mimicked the person.
If he did run away, he probably ran away to where the,
the creep lived or this,
they're like, you know, out in the woods or maybe to the house.
Now's the woods. He still takes pictures. He puts them in the window seal and stuff
like that. He kills everyone related to this guy.
He ruins every relationship this man has had going as far as to kill.
his ex-wife
to further torment his son
and all his future lovers.
Yeah, yeah.
Just tried to ruin his life
and eventually killed him.
I gotta get into the last part.
I gotta get into it.
Part seven.
Loose ends.
I really wanted to just drop this
crawl up in a ball and forget everything,
but I have to put all the pieces together.
What I have of them anyway?
I owe it to my mom, dad, myself.
All of you for standing with me
during this nightmare.
After arresting that thing in my dad's house,
police comb the old house my house my dad's devout material that's helped to shed some light on the
events i described in the previous updates scraps of paper a journal of sorts photographs
combined with additional information from others who grew up with dad what i want to do here is not give
you each little piece of information if i've all had enough mystery i want to give you the whole
story by the whole story i mean how i think it all fits together it may not be 100% correct but
i wouldn't be sharing it if i didn't think it was pretty close
So let's start at the beginning.
This is,
this is fun having all these pieces and stuff
and now it's like the full,
the mask revealed kind of thing.
Maybe.
Yeah,
careful with the full.
Well,
if it doesn't go into a level of detail,
I think,
I'm afraid that it's going to be
a psycho ending where it's like,
but by the way,
that's why this thing happened or whatever.
It's like over,
it's over exposition to the point where it's like,
sure,
but I'm,
I'm okay with like,
narrative layout.
Sure.
Like from him.
It just depends on how it stumbles.
Potentially.
So let's start at the beginning.
Schizophrenic was released from the sanatorium, really an asylum.
You wandered the woods until he had some kind of episode back there.
He came out in the little town of Grand Grieve.
Chod Freud,
since I have no other name for him,
went around convincing children to bring him food like the peanut butter and sugar sandwiches.
When he met Timmy,
he even got a place to stay.
Chod and Timmy skulked around together, got sandwiches,
Timmy was interested in other things,
in particular, the family that lived a few houses down.
They were the only kids around that would hang out with him.
He particularly liked Dad.
Dad was handsome, tall, and athletic.
So he got Chod to ask Flora for more than just sandwiches.
He wanted to see Dad and Matt sleeping.
Interesting.
That's an interesting twist,
that Timmy was the one who like
pushed the creeper thing and stuff
to be near them because he had an obsession with the dad
you know so he was in love with that
he was in love with the dad yeah
yeah when Timmy's parents found
he'd allowed a hobo to squat in their home though
that got mad they never beat Timmy
they just yelled at him
then they tried to kick Chod out
so Chod and Timmy killed his parents
police first found the blood stains in the house
and then the body's beneath it
with his parents camera
Timmy started snapping photos of dad
Matt and Flora while they slept.
Flora noticed the light.
She was just a light to sleeper, apparently.
This didn't stop Timmy.
He kept taking pictures for over a year.
Finally, one night, Flora caught him.
She told him, she'd tell her mom,
and that he was going to be in big trouble.
The next day, Chod called him over to listen to records.
I'd guess at Timmy's request, but who knows?
When Timmy was coming back from buying food,
he saw Flora walking away from the house.
He didn't want her to tell on him.
for taking the pictures, so he grabbed her
and dragged her into the woods.
He didn't kill her right away.
And all the photos they found hidden in that house,
there was one faded photo of a teen girl.
It was Flora.
I'm sure of it.
The photo, she was in some sort of cabin.
She wasn't tied up, but she looked so,
so unhappy.
The whole cabin seemed tinged with unhappiness.
It was an awful looking place.
She was 12 when she disappeared.
So she was kept somewhere after her kidnapped.
somewhere no one ever thought to look for only timmy and shod knew where she was probably where
shod hid while police looked for him after timmy thought it was safe for chaw to come out my dad was
first in finding him and was involved in the man's murder that much was confirmed by detective kirby
timmy was already as his cousin's home by this time he'd been taken as soon as his parents were found
so wherever floor was being kept she was left alone once chod died well he was at his cousins i think
Timmy had a psychotic break. Well, it sounds like Timmy had a psychotic break before if he's like,
you should go, I want pictures of him sleeping stuff. It's an interesting dynamic that Chaud
seems to be just a mentally ill man who was like, oh, can you bring me sandwiches and stuff?
But then he meets Timmy, who's like an actual psychopath.
Well, I thought Chod wanted the photos of. No, it says that Timmy wanted to get pictures of
them sleeping. Why would he take pictures of Flora sleeping though if he was interested in dad and
Matt.
Am I wrong about that?
It says that
he got Chaud to ask
Flora for more than just sandwiches.
Yeah, he got Chaud
to ask, yeah.
Chaud, Timmy wanted pictures
of his dad's sleeping.
Why is she taking pictures of Florida?
There were pictures of Flora, right?
It wasn't that...
Yes, Chad to Timmy kill his parents.
Oh, so she, so he was...
I can't remember.
No, there should be photos of Flora.
With his parents' camera,
Timmy started snapping photos of
dad, Matt, and Flora while they slept.
Okay. So Timmy was taking pictures of all three of them.
Yeah.
Okay.
And Flora saw that it was Timmy and was like, I'm going to tell mom.
So Timmy's like, I've got a kidnapper.
I've got a killer and that's why that happened.
So Chod really wasn't like an evil man.
He was just a mentally ill dude who, it seems under the influence of Timmy did evil things.
You can throw it up however you want.
I mean, yeah.
He still participated in the murder of Timmy's parents.
It was like, okay, I'll go.
I mean, it's a deranged man that's also with like a 13-year-old boy.
I mean, whatever.
Yeah, well, it seems the 13-year-old was the one that's like,
I want pictures of them sleeping.
I mean, I think that he probably was guided
to doing malicious things, but I think it's just a couple of bad eggs.
Yeah, yeah.
IMO.
Yeah.
They were perfect for each other.
Chaud really was his whole world.
He drawed Timmy into his delusions.
He talked to what he thought was shot in the vents and in the woods,
but I don't think anyone was there.
No, fingers poked out of the vent because,
If it wasn't all in Timmy's head, then who was that?
After some time with his cousins, who didn't even like him, he ran away.
Probably had money stashed somewhere, maybe just became a beggar.
My dad, on the other hand, grew up and moved on.
Met a beautiful gymnast and married her.
That's where I come in.
We were a reasonably happy family, from what I understand,
until something happened that made mom and dad resent each other.
They divorced.
Dad fought like hell for custody, and mom went back west where she originally came from.
Not long after Mom was out of the picture, I started seeing the flashing lights.
When I told Dad and Uncle Matt terrified them, the possibility that I could end up disappearing
like Floor is just about the only thing that could terrify my dad.
What I never knew is that after I told them about the lights, they went out to the park
together while I stayed with Uncle Matt's wife.
He spent all day looking for the place they buried Chod, but they found it.
And they dug him up to make sure he was really dead.
That tracks.
it's like hey let's confirm
that guy's dead right we both remember that right
that's why dad was so insistent
that the lights were just in my head or passing cars
because the guy they believe was behind
floor's abduction was dead and buried
and they had to believe it was him behind it
because if they didn't they'd murder an innocent man
since this man probably murdered timmy's parents
he wasn't that innocent but I didn't know that
years later when dad found the picture of me in that house
he knew he'd been wrong
whoever it was he figured was the same person
taking pictures of flora they murdered the wrong person and i was in danger
he went out looking for anyone suspicious roughed up a few guys but nothing came of it what i think
happened is that timmy was still obsessed with dad he did something to sabotage mom and dad's
relationship then when mom was out of the picture he inserted himself into the family and the only
way he knew how by sneaking pictures of me while i slept i believe timmy must have had our phones and
Holmes bugged. He adapted to being a shadow in our lives. Maybe he imagined he was something more.
After a while, this wasn't enough to satisfy him. He murdered my mother and pretended to be her for a year.
I think this gave him what he really wanted to be dad's wife of my mother. His obsession with my dad
wasn't just admiration. He was in love with him. He resented my mom, hated her even, for taking
what he believed was his. He wasn't taking my picture because he wanted to scare me or abduct me.
He thought he was being motherly.
He drew pictures of himself nursing me.
Dad's smiling behind.
So freaky.
And whenever dad found a new girl he was interested in,
Timmy had to take her out of the picture,
like a jealous wife.
He believed his delusion sometimes.
When I let him and mom know that I was investigating these events,
I think it made him feel more important in our lives.
I think it also threatened him.
Becoming aware of him was ruining
his illusion that he wasn't really my mom.
That's when he started acting out.
When he talked to me as mom, telling me dad had to make a choice,
I think he expected dad to see him as mom and fall in love.
Betty Coffin's body was found.
He killed her just to seduce my dad into meeting him.
The choice was between Betty or mom because dad chose Betty, he killed him.
He ran back to Dad's house and into the box spring where he'd been living for a few weeks.
the music, makeup, and dress
was all supposed to be for dad's reunion with mom
if he'd chosen her.
I wish I'd encouraged dad to go on that date.
If I hadn't, he might still be alive.
The whole thing so stupid.
Sanity, obsession, and loneliness,
all unprovoked by us.
I hate him and I want him to rot,
but then I don't even know why.
He really was just crazy.
Kicker, I wrote all of this feeling
real sure of myself last night
it was therapeutic at least
I needed to put it all into some sort of order
this morning I got news
that shakes it all up
I remember that's a sketch right
like that
well everything I said is
in a way still true
there's one very important part
that's wrong
part that makes a lot of it
make no sense at all
Detective Kirby
Detective Kirby
told me they weren't able to identify the man
they caught at Dad's home
however
they could positively
state who he wasn't.
This man was not Timmy Jean.
Timmy is a resident at a group home over 300 miles away where he's been for the past four
years.
It's practically a shut-in, Kirby says.
Never goes anywhere, ever.
The man they arrested has no identification.
His prints aren't in the system, no dental records, nothing.
And he's so far stuck to his promise.
He hasn't spoken since that night.
Other prisoners avoid him like they're afraid.
won't say why, just that there's something wrong and they're right.
One last thing.
The last thing I want to leave you all with is a strange story I heard from an old friend of
Dad's.
Dad's friend is a ranger at the National Park where Dadstown used to be.
He said over the years he's heard odd stories about things deep in the woods.
But one from not too long ago stands out.
Is this...
Don't want to jump the gun?
Don't pull this out yet.
But is this taking the last act turned?
the supernatural.
I really hope not.
Because there's been some slaps of it,
kind of like...
It's been, it's been definitely...
The devil smoke over the house.
Yeah.
The, the, uh, the white dove.
Yeah.
The, we'll see.
I hope not.
Just stick the landing, buddy.
Just, just, it worked so close.
He's tripping right now,
in my opinion.
I think like, I was, I was giving the explanation a chance,
but it got way too wordy.
A little thing like, Timmy's been...
I was going to say my thought.
I mean, we're almost done.
I was just to say my thoughts when I was done.
Dad's friend is a ranger at the National Park
where Dadstown used to be.
He said over the years he's heard odd stories
about things deep in the woods,
but one from not too long ago stands out.
And he felt the urge to tell it to me.
I have no idea why.
I can't say it connects to anything else.
It has nothing to do with my family or Timmy.
It just feels like it fits somehow.
A couple from our town was in the area
to do some hiking.
The park connects to the Appalachian Trail,
so lots of experienced
hikers come through. They decided to do a little off-trail hiking. As I mentioned before,
there are miles of untouched woods back there, so they have plenty of room for exploring. After
hours in the woods, he realized their compass wasn't working at all. Their phones had no signal,
of course. They were lost. That deep end, the woods were pretty dense and the sun was starting to set.
They were experienced enough to have adequate water, rations, camping gear, so they didn't panic,
but they kept walking, hoping to make it to a road or
a ranger's camp.
When it got too dark to see, they started to set up camp.
To when the girl tells her boyfriend, she can see a light.
He looks and sees it too.
Looks like artificial light.
They weren't sure if they were still deep in the woods or not, but felt hairy.
They walked carefully toward it using an emergency flashlight.
They couldn't hear any traffic as they got near and saw no other lights, but the light
seemed to be coming from a real house.
A little age, but no cabin or shack.
there's a clearing around the house,
large enough for two people to walk side by side.
Okay.
It's a spot where the guy broke out.
This is much better.
Because I did think when it has mentioned a flora
being taken to a cabin and I'm like,
the cabin hasn't been mentioned anywhere.
So people coming across the cabin later and you can see
where like they lived and they walked
and they did their dance in the woods, that's good.
That's fine. I'll take that.
The guy insisted they examined the perimeter first.
His girlfriend thought he was being ridiculous.
But he told her he had a bad feeling
about the place. She thought the woods at night was just making him jumpy. Still, she went along.
Shingled roof, wood-sided walls, curtain windows, and even a front porch. What they couldn't find was a road,
even a path or trail. Nothing but woods. The woods surrounded the whole circumference as
densely as any part of the woods, and isn't it read at all. But they needed help. They knocked on
the only door. An older man answered the door pretty quickly. Looked well-groomed, dressed in a nice shirt,
and pull over sweater.
Even, strangers.
He says like it was no big deal.
The boyfriend apologized for bothering him
and explained how they've been wandering the woods all day.
His house was the first they found.
The man was understanding.
He bide them inside and seated them in his living room.
It was nicely decorated and toasty inside.
They didn't even notice her at first.
There was a woman seated in the corner of the room.
She didn't say anything, but nodded politely to them when noticed.
The guy and girl exchanged glances.
It felt horribly uncomfortable.
The man returned to the living room with a tray of tea.
He set it in front of them and set across from them.
They poured themselves each a cup.
The man watched them carefully.
They didn't like the way he scrutinized them.
The fire crackled and popped sinisterly.
Seemed them behind him.
The tension of the silence kept mounting,
so the guy decided to say something.
He noted that he hadn't seen any roads or paths around the house.
Nope, the man agreed.
So he asked how the man.
comes and goes.
To this, he says he stays put.
How about supplies?
The man leans back in his chair and looks at the guy
suspiciously.
You're awful curious.
I heard a strange, wet, thudding noise
somewhere else inside the house right then.
The man doesn't react,
so they pretend to ignore it.
They're both starting to get nervous being in the place.
The guy asked the man how far from the nearest road they were.
He was calculating in his head
if they had enough battery to see
them to it in the dark. The man answered that they were very far from any road on all sides.
The girl said it was weird to her that this place was so hidden. Because unless someone knew it was
there, stumbled on it by pure chance, no one would ever find it. It could be an address after all.
There's no road. The man asked him where they were, and then he said,
How do I know you didn't come here to kill me? They didn't know what to say to that.
Figured it was a joke and laughed uncomfortably, but you just smirked at them.
excused himself then and vanished around the corner into a dark hallway
while they were alone they looked around the room
there was a painting hanging over the fireplace that kept catching the guy's attention
he didn't know why he hated art it was a scene of a couple walking through a clearing
there were thick shrubs around now that he looked at the painting more closely
he saw something that he swore wasn't there before staring out from one of the shrubs
was a man's face watching the couple
with a look of pure hate.
He was really creeped out, but he didn't want his girlfriend to see it.
So there's an actual man with his face poking through the painting looking at them.
Yeah.
I think like as if it was like a trap.
Yeah.
They drank more of the tea because it was warm.
They're just like, he's like, okay.
They drank more of the tea because it was warm.
I hope it doesn't, I hope I don't get drugged by this delicious warm tea in this creepy house.
This is so yummy.
They'd take in a few gulps when they noticed the girl in the corner again.
They only noticed her this time because she was shaking her head, almost imperceptibly,
but she kept doing it.
Shaking her head and looking at the teacups,
she became perfectly still again when the man returned.
The guy tried to explain to the man that they must be going.
Did it feel well, and there had been way too many red flags to keep ignoring.
But the words that came out of his mouth were slurred and ineffectual,
and he passed out.
When he woke up, he had an awful headache.
He shook his girlfriend awake as well.
They realized they'd slept for some time.
The guy suspected they'd been shrugged, but couldn't be certain.
The man was nowhere to be seen.
Neither was the woman, and their gear was missing.
They wanted to leave right away, but needed their supplies.
They had no idea how far from any roads they were,
so they went searching the rooms of the house.
There were three doors down the hall, all led to bedrooms.
First two were empty, so it was the last,
but it had their gear on the middle of a child's bed.
to grab their stuff and prepared to leave,
but the guy saw a curtain covering an opening at the very end of the hall
and he had to know.
Pulled it open.
It was just a closet.
Man and woman must have left the house, he thought.
Then he noticed his girlfriend's face.
She was terrified of something.
So much she was backing away and tugging at him.
He looked back in the closet.
It was the man,
crouched down naked in the bottom of the closet,
looking up at him with a smile,
crossed most of his face.
But his eyes fixed them with the most unmistakably intense rage.
He started crawling out of the closet toward them on all fours
and making sounds like they'd never heard any living thing make before.
They ran out of the house straight into the woods.
They moved as fast as possible, cutting themselves and tripping several times.
Some in their guts kept telling them that man was right behind them,
like the man in the bushes in that horrible painting.
He was going to kill them.
They finally came out of the woods on a dirt road,
and from there slowly followed it to a real road
and found their way back to town.
They told the park rangers about it
and were advised to keep the story to themselves.
Later, they looked up the area on Google Earth.
It took them a while, but they spotted the clearing in the woods.
It was even deeper in than they thought.
As they zoomed in, the guy saw something weird in the front of the house.
Cleaned up the image as best he could.
Still a little blurry, but the couple knew what it was.
The man was standing in front of the house and looking straight up
like he knew they were wanting.
watching. They sent the image to the Rangers as proof. I know there are still so many questions.
What really happened to Flora? Is Timmy dealing with someone else? How do you know so much about mom?
Who was the guy who got arrested? Why was the Ramon's t-shirt on my mom's body? I just don't know.
So for now, it'll just have to be the end.
Bless you. And that is, dad finally told me what happened that day. I think just ended on part six, part seven,
was pretty
over exposition.
Also, this whole need of being like,
I don't even know why he told me this,
but actually that creepy house,
that's probably why it was,
it's just like another thing where it feels like an...
It goes to the issue of saying,
I was praising the story for in the beginning
that everything felt so natural.
And in the end, it's like,
well, this random guy told me this.
It kind of feels like the Barasca Five thing
or it feels like a thing where it's like made from a place
of like, well, I better just make sure
and wrap this all up to where there's no questions,
answered or the thing of like well that might not make a lot of sense. I'll just make a I'll make a
the house comes back at the end and there's something weird going on. So that's why the guys got
so so weird. But also like taking away the fact that it wasn't even Timmy who did it felt really
stupid. Like why? It's like you had a bow tied but then he wants like the one last call thing.
My mind it ends in six and it is a grown up Timmy. Yeah. Who was fascinated with this. I like the idea
too of like a kid. Let's just say
it was a 13 year old kid. He sees a handsome
dad across the street. Maybe he's having like homosexual
feelings or something like that. It doesn't know
to process. It doesn't have a lot of friends. You know people that he's
friends with him. Obviously, it has some very
clear mental issues like
of obsession and stuff like that. Yeah, or just
insecure. It doesn't have a lot of social. And then like this
other guy shows up, becomes his only friend.
He starts making him just as fucking delusional.
So then he becomes hyper fixated on it.
I think there's like a really fun
world where that could be
something cool. And let me
say it's been a long time since we've been like oh this is fucking creepy yeah yeah i think that
i think that uh jared roberts i think jared roberts did a phenomenal job setting up all these
pieces i think the only thing was building up it was building up towards nothing i think that
like sticking with your guns and just sticking with like this inner this like very small group
of people and how it's like affected people over the course of like these decades of time
I think it's really fun.
I think it's a fun.
It would have been a fun payoff.
And I think,
uh,
you know,
it's kind of what I was talking about earlier,
though.
This story felt it was most successful when it was like,
I'm just telling you how it is.
This is what they told me.
Whatever.
It's very casual,
you know?
So then trying to introduce other elements at the end,
threw off that flow for me.
Because there's a lot of moments in this story where I'm like,
this fucking like narrator is dumb.
Yeah.
If it's like,
just kind of the way he's saying things.
He's like,
yeah,
I don't know,
man,
my dad's just kind of my rock star.
Or yeah,
he's,
my dad,
I wouldn't want to get in a beer fight with him.
But that's neither here nor there when it's just kind of like,
I'm just kind of,
once again,
I'm just kind of spewing my thoughts out and I'm letting you know what they said or whatever.
And there was a lot of times where you're just like this whole thing of the dad not like just coming out and saying like,
yeah,
man,
guilt. There was no real reason. Even if it incriminated him, it's, I mean, like, I don't know.
Like, I, I wish that there was a better payoff. But I was fine with all of that just because of how
strong everything else was. And like, I, it really wasn't even, I was like, whatever. And I just was
able to move on. But the last part, I think you just, you just delete that. I think if you're
reading this, in my opinion, I think if you're reading the story, just read part six. Because also, too,
it's almost insulting. I just read the whole fucking thing. I know. He's like, so you're probably
wondering what happened here. Well.
It's like also too
There was no new information in part six about that
Not that it pokes holes
But it's also like just let people like come across that
Let people also enjoy the story a couple of times
I haven't read it a couple times and be like fuck
I bet you it's the X, Y or Z
And also if you have Timmy being this guy who's just like
I think you fucking loved them
Introduce that more early on
You know there was nothing
I don't think there was one line of Timmy just being like
You know do you care if we
Do you want to see if your dad wants to come over
or like, can we hang out at your house?
It's like, oh, you're only supposed to hang out
because he wants to be around the dad
or any of those things.
I think you could have introduced
all those elements
and it would have been pretty sweet.
Now, that being said, once again,
it's been a long time
since we've had this much fun
being, like, creeped out
and weirded out on an episode.
The story is good enough
that I'm going to pretend like part seven doesn't exist.
Yep.
And also, I really, gosh, I do not like the...
I know they said earlier,
he makes, like, inhuman noises,
but you can just describe that as like a crazy person, right?
The implication at the end that it's like some supernatural Hobbit shape shifter thing.
It's like, oh, well, because that's what they were implying at the end of six where it's like,
Timmy, or no, that was in part seven too.
Yeah, just a new part seven.
Where it's like, Timmy isn't Timmy at all.
This guy they caught someone's different.
Yeah, that's all I was like.
No fingerprints, no DNA.
So the implication, especially with the house at the end, it's like,
there's this race of skin walkers that are mimicking people in the woods.
Yeah.
Whose finger was that through the vince?
That's all.
Too often do these stories rely on that paranormal thing?
And that isn't to say that we don't like the paranormal stuff.
And then it adds it in after the end.
Well, yeah, that's what I mean.
To me, it feels like a place of, and I'm not going to sit there and just say like the guy was fucking insecure,
but it comes from a place where it jumps a shark.
If it was me, if it was me creatively, it felt like me being like, I don't know.
And then like adding that in at the end.
All right, well, it's actually that.
Yeah.
Whatever.
it wasn't uh it just wasn't effective and i will say i think that like so far all the things that we've
read i do like the weird paranormal shit i like whenever you know we can get like fun monsters
it's all about it's all about establishing your story well i was just to say i think that the horror
is almost always more effective than i found that like i've always been the most creeped out in
these things when it's coming from a real place well i mean it's even just like you've set a
precedent with your story right i love the alien
movie. I think xenomorphs are creepy. If I'm watching
obsession and then Nikki turns into a xenomorph and starts killing everyone,
it's like, what are we doing? Right? I can like ice cream and steak. It does not mean I want
a steak with ice cream on it. Right. So it's just like, this story was rocking so hard
with like the creepy child endangerment theme, uncovering the myth and all that. And I thought
six was a good ending. Like, Timmy was obsessed with his dad, wanted to
be his mother. And then it's like, but what if it was actually a demon thing? And it's like,
this feels like, uh, it does feel like there's parallels with pin pal. I'd be very curious to see
if how influential pen pal was on the story and that approach. Not to say once again, I'm not saying
that he copied it, but it's like you can tell that's like the set up. The story did a lot of
unique things, uh, that I thought was cool. I really, really liked, uh, the stuff about his uncle having the
bad memories that were incorrect and then like,
do you think that trauma with this weird kid down the street?
I don't think it's a strong of a story as Penn Pell,
but I think it had a lot of similar themes that were done well.
No, I did.
I mean, once again, I am not in any way saying that he copied any of it.
I'm just saying like the,
influence,
the style,
like the,
the scares and stuff,
the manic man and stuff.
And I'm also wondering in this case,
because Pimpal,
in this sphere of storytelling is so popular,
do you think that he tagged on the supernatural thing to be a little more
different than,
I mean, it's not impossible.
Because I feel like the story was completely fine with none of it.
Because all they did in the previous parts was like, oh, she saw a dove and that was weird.
And there was smoke from the building.
I think even having it be like a reoccurring old friend and not just like a random psychopath guy makes it different enough.
Like having it be something that's like of that.
I mean, I legitimately like that angle.
I like the very realistic angle of you get scared.
So your mind goes all these places.
And like you as a viewer are, especially.
especially horror, are so used to so many horror tropes that your mind is like, well, what if it's
like this entity or Skinwalker or blah, blah, blah. And it ends up just being like, yeah,
this is just like a kid who was obsessed with a guy and like carried that out through X, Y,
and Z and then ruin that guy's life. Whatever. And then like I instill like what's what was really
fun. I think the most dynamic part was if you do that subversion, you think it is the original
guy because I like the idea that the dad did grab this guy. He like killed him. Did it
all that stuff, and then it ends up being a different person that was influenced by that.
It, like, sets up a lot of, it's set up a lot of different character dynamics.
And I do think, once again, you push that narrative a little harder there.
And then you just have, um, even, I even like the idea, too, of the Timmy guy being like,
and I'm not going to say another fucking word for the rest of my life.
And he tries to talk to him.
And he's just like, nope.
Yeah.
To where he's being as, he's putting up that wall as much as his dad did.
And now he'll never get that satisfaction of knowing.
And his whole life is fucking stripped out.
I feel like if you take part, if you get rid of part seven and at the end of part six,
you had like a paragraph that's like Timmy guy still won't speak.
It's like I have so much hate for him and I can't blah, blah, blah.
And just like a little bit like a finale that's kind of like,
I still don't know everything, but you know, my dad never knew the monster that was,
you know, haunting him for years and stuff like that.
And you just ended at part six.
I think it's a great story.
Part seven is such a weight at the end of it.
I think, yeah.
I mean, I, there might be, I'm curious to see if there's any comments that have people who say that they thought that it was nice having like a recap or something.
But I, it went, like I said, into the psycho territory where it adds nothing.
I already read all this.
It's like at the end of Psycho, they established that Norman Bates is actually Cthulhu.
And he's actually doing this to try to build a shrine to Cthuloo.
Yeah, on top of that.
That's what it feels.
And I will say, I do think the paragraph of the end of six is a good.
I think that's cool.
I like, I even like an ending and I don't know what you guys think.
I like an ending too where it's like, he goes up, he won't talk to me.
He's like, but every week he sends me a letter or something.
Or he's like, he's like, but I just got a package in last week and it was a Ramon's T-shirt.
And it like ends with something like that where it's like, if you want to do the whole, like, there's something still out there.
You don't have to go to the supernatural route.
You can have something as simple as that.
Or like Ramon's CD.
Does that, does the cursor, this mental curse or something that was passed along to Timmy, does that get passed on to our main character?
Exactly.
or if not the main character
you could imagine Timmy's been doing this for years
maybe he did the same thing to another kid
we don't know about right? Yeah, I think
there's just a way to set it up to where it's like this is
like a thing that's being passed on
to people in some kind of way or
this is even better. You don't
another implication because
they just assume floor is dead and again
we're pretending like Part 7 doesn't exist where
like she's in a weird demon cabin with the drug
people and the guy with the face and the wall
you could just say
that in
part six, he gets a Ramon's t-shirt at the end that his mom was wearing. And then you could think,
oh, maybe Flora is alive. Maybe Flora got kidnapped by Timmy, which we know he did. And Timmy did the
same thing to Flora. Yeah. I think there's a lot of opportunities for that. Do you think,
and Harry, just to be certain, Jared, does this connect it in any way with any other stories? Like,
does this fucking cabin pop up in any other stories, you think? There's no.
Because it sets, it's reading like one of those things, you know, where it's like, then people are like, oh, I like how this connected with the red twine.
I hope not.
I hope not.
You never know.
That's why when you first kind of set supermatch, I was like, oh, maybe it does.
Well, my job is, my job is watching a woman in a room, like that kind of ending.
No, that, that was like getting flashbang by 18 stories at once.
Yeah, Brett Seven almost feels like he was trying out, like, a new chapter.
It all, it seems like, it seems like a way for me to where he's like, he's, he added that end to where then it's just like the same thing you do with a part one where it's part seven.
It's like, if they're interested, I can always do a sequel series for that.
But also.
Yeah.
So I think it's more the opposite.
Not that it's the previous thing.
Just throw another, throw another hook out there.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Which is in a horrible.
I don't know how to see the exact date, at least on the iPad of when something was.
posted to Reddit. But I almost wonder if there was a gap between six and seven that I can check
a quick like part six went up and people were like I didn't get it. What do you mean? Explain this.
So almost like Barasca five, it's like part seven was made in like frustration nearly.
You're texting him, Jared Roberts. So real fast. You're actually talking to Jared Roberts right now.
And while you guys are recording, if there was any significance to Chad Troy as a name.
And he said, mostly that it just sounds creepy.
Okay.
He said some people have pointed out correctly that faucets in Quebec where the story takes place are labeled Chod and Freud.
Oh, interesting.
Yeah, I think, and I think that just as a general, I mean, this is just like a general thing for me.
I think, like, in my opinion, I think things just sounding creepy.
like when you're reading something,
I don't think anything is ever just like,
well,
I don't think a good answer in storytelling
is like because it's cool.
Does that make sense?
Yeah.
I don't think it's like,
it's not as satisfying to me as a reader
or something to where,
like that whole thing of even Harry saying that it was like,
what was the German translation again?
Shaba Freuda,
but it's like,
even like, just having an element to where
even if you don't explain it,
just putting an element of just like,
that's why I did that.
Because while we are sitting there and you're like, oh, it feels like a child's interpretation of like a child, like a child saying a word incorrectly.
Yeah.
Very fun.
Yeah.
And that being said, you do whatever you want.
But I'm just saying like, I think it's more rewarding as a reader to to.
Yeah.
Just what is the inspiration, the creativity behind that certain thing?
Even if we never circle back to it.
What you just said is awesome that faucets are labeled that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like that's insane.
That's really sick.
Well, it's such a huge part of.
the fucking stories talking to the pipes
and everything. I mean, that's like,
that's awesome. Yeah.
Stuff like that. Again,
I don't want, again, I'm pretending
like Part 7 doesn't exist, which is why I'm curious
if it was kind of made like hastily.
But one through six, such a banger.
Such a good story. I had a great time. I mean,
really, really fun. In my mind, Timmy is
Timmy and he was obsessed with being his mom and that's
great. It has been a long time since we've been
like this like creeped out.
It was creepy. I mean, really the idea
of a child being put in these dangerous circumstances
by like someone who's so creepy, they
almost seem otherworldly, like the guy from Pimpal.
It's so menacing.
And I think it works so well.
Is there a way to do that that isn't that because it's the, it is a creepy thing and you,
you know, there's nothing more innocent than a child.
So it's like having this innocence being threatened and you're like, you know, I think as a
viewer or a person, you can just be like, oh my God, like you're all tensed up because
you're thinking of all the implications that can happen and stuff.
Is there a way to do this in a grounded story setting?
Like, because this almost, I mean, these read almost like a fucking.
true crime, you know, and I think it's fun because it almost feels real, right? And that's what
feels so scary. You think of like your brother, you know, your, your sibling, your child, this
happened to them. It's fucked up. Is there a world where you don't do, oh, creepy old person
with a young child that is as effective, you think? Yeah, I mean, you could do like a, like a little
older child. You need to put a little bit of an age gap because that, uh, establishes the power
dynamic. Outside of even the child dynamic. Is there a world where you could do, like a little bit
where it's adults or something.
I'm always like, fight,
do something, tell someone. But children
are the one place. Children are the one
place where it's like, yeah, all they can do is run
and cry, you know? Whereas
if we were in the story and an adult
man did it, we'd be like, loser.
I think that you do, though, I think that you do like a misery
thing. You incapacitate
the power dynamic. Yeah.
Yeah, sure, you can do that. There has to be a power
dynamic. There has to be some way where
the protagonist is placed weaker.
And understand you're like, fuck. That would
suck to be in this thing. Exactly. Yeah. You can't have two equally powered people because it's like,
why are you not doing something, which is why a lot of the time you will see this dynamic in
monster stories, where it's someone helpless against a monster beast because that's the assumed
power dynamic now, where you have like a more important one. Or more powerful one. I mean,
like I will say out of the stuff that we've read from Jared Roberts, I do think this is my favorite thing
that. Oh, I loved it. I thought it was a lot of fun. I did that was really good. So I will say,
I thought it was fucking great. Be sure to check out more of Jared Roberts' work. I mean, like I said,
We've read a couple.
And then the website and books linked in the description.
I thought it was fantastic.
And again, I'm, it was so well written.
I'm willing to say that part seven only exists because this is a Reddit thing.
And that's the kind of thing a lot of audiences are looking for.
And maybe he was like, I'll do more.
I'll write.
Because again, you're a writer on Reddit.
You're successful if people keep reading.
So maybe it's like, hey, here's more story if people want to keep reading.
I think that there's, I can perfectly sympathize with that.
And I think he is more than proven himself as an excellent writer.
I think that you can go through one through six of this and get like everything.
Yeah.
That like, and it feels like a concise fun story.
You can put the pieces together.
All the clues are there.
And then also if you enjoy Part 7 too, fucking more power to you.
I'm just saying like this is just our opinion.
I really do feel like Part 7 is a Reddit symptom.
And I mean that not against Jared Roberts, just in the nature of if you're writing on the website, people are going to want an explanation.
That's weird.
If that's your bread and butter, you have to, yeah.
I mean, you got to appease the platform you're on.
I mean, it's like we talked about with Lurker on the stairs, right?
Like that story is super
kind of heady and like
it's using a cryptid to be representative
of like personal turmoil and stuff
but you got to title it
the lurker on the stairs
because that's what people are going to click on.
So you know you have to know the beast
that you're going up against kind of thing.
I agree.
So I feel part seven was that
and I think Roberts is an excellent writer
and I'm sure in his books and stuff like that
I bet he kills it.
Yeah, I'd love to see an actual full story
too.
Yeah. We could be fun to see.
I mean, the hidden webpage was like something he posted to a blog,
not Reddit, like its own website.
And that one, I felt like the ending was much more
succinct and, like, clear.
And I think that's the kind of stories he puts out.
So, yeah, I love this story.
I think it's great.
And I would love to read more of his stuff.
Yeah.
Guys, that's our episode this week.
We appreciate you.
Hope you have a fantastic rest of your time.
And hey, stay creep, my friends.
Stay creeped.
And remember, if you ever see your siblings,
or a friend talking to the shower grade or perhaps an air duct,
you should just get ahead of the curve and kill them and burn the house.
Oh, can I actually?
No, except.
Can I see the last note?
Yeah.
If you see it, kill all pedophiles.
Only brave takes on this podcast.
Kill your local pedophile.
Bye.
Burna.
Hey.
Mississippi Queen.
If you know what I.
I mean.
