We want people to know that these were someone's children. They were just kids.
A young couple expecting a child found murdered in their car after going on a date on Valentine's Day.
We believe that one of the
victims was targeted. We do not believe this was a random act. Birmingham police are working to
piece together what happened as the victim's families plead for people who know what happened
to come forward. I'm Anjanette Levy and this is Crime Fix. Christian Norris and Angelia Webster
had their entire lives ahead of them.
Angelia was pregnant, and she and Christian, who went by Chris,
were planning a big Disney-themed gender reveal party in April.
Chris and Angelia were 20 years old, and last Wednesday, on Valentine's Day, they did what couples do.
They went out on a date in Birmingham, Alabama, and they planned to go to the movies.
Their families became concerned later when they couldn't reach them by phone.
Family members and police started searching, and they found the couple shot to death in their white Ford Taurus on Friday in an area of town called Wylam.
Now Chris and Angelia's families are asking anyone who knows what happened to call police. Sherita Wilson-Clark is Chris Norris's cousin, and she is here to talk with us about her cousin and Anjaliya Webster.
Sherita, thank you so much for coming on. I'm so sorry for your loss.
First of all, how is your family holding up?
I think the best that can be expected at a time like this, his mom is completely devastated.
She can't do any interviews at this time. So I've been speaking on behalf of our family. I know. I want to take you back to last week. And I know this has been a nightmare for your
entire family. I know that Angelia and Chris went out for a date on
Valentine's day as people do. Um, they're expecting a child and they went missing. And it sounds like
from everything I've read and I saw your live video that the family frantically started searching
for them because this is, this was so out of character. Right. So Valentine's Day, of course, people probably had spoken with them earlier that day,
but after it started getting later, when the parents were trying to reach out to both of them,
nobody was picking up their phones. So Valentine's Night was when people started
becoming a little bit more
worried because the moms would talk to their kids every day. So not being able to talk to them,
even if they missed a call, like they still would call back and that never happened.
What did the family do after they reported Chris and Angelia missing?
So after the reports went out about them missing, of course, you have
to wait a certain amount of time before it becomes a missing persons report. But once it did become
a missing persons report, then we started getting more information just from people, different
rumors of, oh, we saw him over here, or hey, we saw the the car over here so we were kind of just doing a lot of
running around at first um his mom had searched been searching ever since that day she was just
driving around no sleep um she went to different locations to see where he possibly was last
um where they said they may have been going to go and see a movie later on that night
so um the family was just
going around trying to figure out where were where were the last steps that someone said that they
saw him in and i was reading to correct me if i'm wrong um there was some ability to maybe
ping the vehicle or something like that um and that it showed up in this yeah tell me about that yeah so I'm not sure
um I know I think the Bernham Police Department was there at the scene first
but of course our family had been doing their own searches and his mom and
grandmother had gone to the car dealership to ask questions about the
car and when they asked questions about the car they just asked if they can
ping the car and see where the car was and the family found out that the car and when they ask questions about the car they just asked if they can ping the car and see where the car was and the family found
out that the car was in while they just didn't have an actual address so I'm not
sure how the GPS thing works on there but the family just went to while I'm
gonna start driving around at that point and then that's when they found the car
and Angelina and Chris inside so sorry tell me if you would i mean this this is
supposed to be a happy time for your family for angelia's family i i know she was expecting
and there was a gender reveal party planned for for april and they were going to it was going to be a disney theme from what i understand
yeah they were doing like a moana thing yeah um
we've been doing these interviews just to try to see if anybody would come forward with any information about what happened or what they think may have happened and even if they've heard a
rumor um it may be a rumor to some people but any bit of information no matter how small
uh people may think it is could be something that's very helpful to uh the Birmingham Police
Department. Sherita what do you want people to know about Chris and Angelia? I mean, they're humans, they're human beings.
They have people who loved them.
And people see this on the news,
they see the pictures on social media,
but what do you and your family
want people to know about them?
First, we love Chris and Angelia was a sweet girl.
I've met her a few times
for different family functions that we had.
She was always really nice, very sweet and very kind.
And Chris was just a laughing person.
He loved to have fun
and he was very excited to become a father.
And as the family, we just want people to know,
yes, they are human beings.
It doesn't matter the circumstance behind why they were murdered.
There's never a why that's great enough to take a life.
But as a family, we want people to know that these were someone's children.
They were just kids.
They were only kids themselves, about to have a kid. So trying to figure out life
themselves. So for us, we just want to get the word out and get people to start coming
forward with inside of our own communities to tell us what happened. And not to stay
silent anymore.
And obviously, somebody always knows something um we were talking before we
started this you you've done work in your community with with gun violence with the
parents against violence for a while now so i know that um it's always um i think the fear level is
there what if somebody comes and does something to me? But when you're dealing with the anonymous callers at the police department, you can still remain anonymous.
So the fear factor is kind of being taken out a little bit because you can still stay anonymous.
And there's also a $5,000 reward in any of those cases if someone is brought to justice.
That's the Crime Stoppers program um it's
a very good program um for people who aren't aware and they it's been around a long time and they
always keep the tipster the person who offers absolutely anonymous they're typically numbers
absolutely absolutely so we just don't want to we don't want the community to be afraid to come forward.
It's our loved one today, but it could be someone else's loved one tomorrow.
I also spoke with Officer Truman Fitzgerald from the Birmingham Police Department.
Truman, thanks for coming on. What is the very latest with this double homicide investigation?
The latest that we have in the case is we believe that one of
the victims was targeted. We do not believe this was a random act. And we are also looking into
the couple being kidnapped prior to being shot. Oh, my goodness. Why do you believe they were
kidnapped? Just from background information on the couple, we knew that Christian was very skeptical of who he hung around.
We knew that he was very skeptical of who he allowed close to him.
So whoever did this forcefully kidnapped him, we believe.
Was there anything in the vehicle? You know, of course, we know that you are
you keep a lot of details close to the vest for the integrity of the investigation. But
was there anything in the vehicle that led you to believe that was one person or were they in the
backseat? I mean, typically a couple goes out on a date. You've got maybe the guy or the woman
driving and then the other person in
the passenger seat, but were they, did it appear they had been moved?
It's more so the area they were located in that leads us to believe they were kidnapped.
This area, which is referred to as Weiland in Birmingham, is not an area that was frequented
by the couple.
So just the mere fact that they were in Willam leads us
to believe that either they were lured over there or kidnapped to that area. So it's more so the
area they were discovered in that leads us to believe that they were kidnapped. Did they have
their cell phones on them or was any money missing? Did they have ID? Was Angelia's purse on her? I mean, can you tell me about that?
What we can say is our detectives are looking into phone records to see just what took place prior to the couple being shot.
As far as the contents of their personal belongings, we would withhold those just for the investigation at this point.
You know, one of the worst things about this, I mean, I don't know.
It's so awful.
I mean, these two young people out on a date on Valentine's Day.
They are murdered, but they were expecting a child. And they were going to have a Disney themed, according to their family members, Disney themed gender
reveal party in April. So this is a happy young couple in love going out on a date for Valentine's
Day, expecting a child and they are murdered. I mean, I just can't even imagine what their family
is going through. And, you know, people have got to be if anybody's got information, they've got to just think about that.
There was there was a child. She was pregnant. So there was a fetus in there.
So could additional charges be filed in Alabama because she was pregnant?
Yes, ma'am. You hit on it perfectly because of the fact that she was pregnant, Alabama recognizes that fetus as a life.
And in our justice system, the perpetrators will face additional charges for that.
We have been having our ear to the streets, listening to what the public's response has been.
And the outcry has just been tremendous from our public.
And many of our community members are enraged because of the fact the couple was expecting.
And we have reached a point in our society where no one is off limits. And to shoot a 20-year-old
pregnant woman is just the lowest of the low. It most certainly is. It's
horrifying. And you had mentioned earlier, you believe they were kidnapped. So do you believe
this is almost like a carjacking type thing? Or do you have evidence to lead you to believe that
maybe somebody got in that vehicle and forced them to drive somewhere? Or can you elaborate
on that a little more? We don't believe this was a random
carjacking. We're exploring the options that maybe someone was inside the vehicle with the couple.
So any leads that our detectives can think of, we're exploring those. And the biggest facts that we have is that we know around Valentine's
Day when the couple went missing is more than likely when this horrific crime took place.
Just based on the evidence that we've uncovered and the time frame, we do believe that we're looking at around Valentine's
Day or the day after. So shortly after they leave on their date, you believe this happened?
Yes, ma'am. Shortly after. And I know the family has had concerns if maybe they could have done
something differently and this would have had a different outcome.
But we owe that to the family to let them understand
that at that point, there was nothing
that they could have done to save this couple.
I think their fate was already determined
and the family did everything they could.
And without them, we wouldn't have found them
as quickly as we did.
There's a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
Anyone with information about the murders of Angelia Christian and their unworn child
should call Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
And remember, you will remain anonymous.
That's it for Crime Fix.
