The mother of one of Sean Combs' sons breaking her silence about the 2016 video showing Sean Combs assaulting Cassie
in a hotel hallway. I'm taking a closer look at what Misa Hilton's saying about that video
and Combs' children, including her son. And what about that video? How did it go public after all
of these years? A lawyer who reps a lot of rappers is here with how and why he thinks it happened.
Thanks for joining me for Crime Fix. I'm Anjanette Levy. Misa Hilton posted photos of Combs' children
on Instagram yesterday, including her son Justin, with this message.
I am heartbroken that Cassie must relive the horror of her abuse, and my heart goes out to her.
I know exactly how she feels, and through my empathy, it has triggered my own trauma.
That's a very interesting comment, given how Hilton has appeared to support Combs in the past
on Instagram. She even called out Homeland Security agents after the raid back in March
for what she felt was mistreatment of Justin and Christian Combs during that raid.
The overzealous and overtly militarized force used against my sons,
Justin and Kristen, is deplorable, she said. If these were the sons of a non-black celebrity,
they would not have been handled with the same aggression. The attempt to humiliate and terrorize
these innocent young black men is despicable. Now back to the recent post where Hilton offered
support and sympathy to Cassie Ventura. Her post continued with photos
of all of Combs' children. These young people were raised by women that want the best for them.
We put God and education first and have always been united in our mutual effort to support their
dreams. Two of the youngest do not have their mother here and it has been our duty to support
them. Their father needs help,
and I am praying that he truly does the personal work and receives it. Wow. At the beginning of
Misa's statement, she said that seeing the video of Cassie, which is absolutely awful, everybody
agrees, triggered her own trauma. So was Misa implying that she had been harmed by Combs?
Here's a story that Jean Deal, Combs' former head of security,
told on The Art of Dialogue about Mesa and Combs.
Now, this is a story that was told to me, bro, by somebody who was there.
You know what I'm saying?
And they said he put hands on her.
Mesa was running from him so hard trying to get away from him,
she tried to crawl up under a car.
You know, Puffy was, you know, Misa was a, like I said,
she was a talented, beautiful girl, bruh.
And if Puff didn't get his way, you know what I'm saying,
he always did that plate fighting stuff.
You know, he always wanted to, he start off like he play fighting with somebody.
You understand?
And then as soon as the girl tell him to stop, stop, stop or whatever like that, then she hits him hard.
That's when it start going on.
I want to bring in Robin Nunn.
She's a litigator to discuss this.
Robin, what are your thoughts about Misa Hilton's comments on Instagram?
Misa Hilton's comments on Instagram were a bit of a surprise to me, to be honest. Obviously, she is the mother of one of Sean Combs' children. She has spoken out in the past on social media
about her interactions, relationships, certain happenings that
have happened in the relationship. But her comments this time around were supportive
of Cassie Ventura and sort of corroborated to some extent some of the allegations that we
saw in a previous complaint and perhaps some of the allegations we're seeing
in more recent complaints. So that surprised me.
What I found interesting, and I think anybody seeing that video of Cassie, you would have to
be made of stone to not empathize with her and feel great sympathy and realize that what she said
and what she alleged was true. And that's why this lawsuit was settled the next day. But what got me was the fact that it almost sounded like Misa was saying or implying that
she too may have been harmed.
And, you know, this is how I took it.
She talked about triggering her own trauma.
And it made me wonder because there have been some things out there in the past, some things
discussed.
Was she possibly, you know, physically abused at the hands of Sean Combs?
Yeah, it definitely, that sentence stood out to me in my mind. She moved on to talking about,
you know, family members and the children and remaining strong, but it definitely implied that
these recent allegations have been a reminder of some of the things that she endured. What that exactly
was, she didn't really go into any detail. But I do think that she is opening herself up with these
social media posts to potentially being a future witness in any cases that potentially could be
brought against Sean Combs as she's made statements that would lead one to believe
that she has more to tell. And another thing too, she is sticking up for these kids. Two of them,
Justin and Christian, are older and there have been allegations made against them, but she's
saying these are good kids. All of these kids are good kids. And she said their dad
is basically sick and needs help, but he could possibly be in a whole lot more trouble than
just needing some help. Yeah. And she also implied that the women in his life may have some sort of
bizarre support sister network that they've established to sort of surround these kids with love and to
shield them from some of perhaps the bad acts of their father. I thought that that was an
interesting revelation that they're sort of, you know, self-help and a lot of perhaps,
you know, healing that they're trying to do as a family in this sort of dysfunctional situation that
they may find themselves in.
I want to take a short break from this update on Sean Combs to tell you about something
that can help you learn more about the people in your life.
It's a great website and it's called truthfinder.com.

Now I want to bring in Bradford Cohen. He has represented a long list of rappers over the years.
Bradford, thanks for coming on. First, I want to ask you, what did you think of what Misa Hilton said? She's saying that
the Cassie video triggered her own trauma. And that immediately got me thinking, is she saying
that Sean Combs hurt her? Yeah, it appears whenever something like this happens, whenever there is
some sort of issue with someone, people come out of the woodwork. So I think that she's now going
to say that triggered her own trauma. She forgot about it. She put it out of the woodwork. So I think that she's now going to say
that triggered her own trauma.
She forgot about it.
She put it out of her head,
but now she's remembering it.
And now it will continue to pile on.
Prosecutors will be calling her,
I'm sure, to ask her,
you know, what her experience was
with Sean Combs.
And that generally,
that's what happens.
That's why these videos that leak,
these things that come out, that's the purpose for these videos coming out and these videos leaking
is to see if there's more victims or if there's more people to come forward. And it kind of
empowers people now to come forward and say, X, Y, Z. And you saw that with Harvey Weinstein.
You saw that with any of these issues that come about.
Once the first person kind of comes out, the dam breaks open and everyone comes out and says, I had an experience with that person.
I had an experience with that person. Lawsuits also come about. That's what that's what generally happens with these type of cases.
But what I thought was interesting about Misa is that she was so outspoken about the raid back in March and that she was saying that there was excessive force used on Christian and Justin, on the boys.
Obviously, she's being a mom.
You know, she's putting her arms around the kids and protecting the kids.
And Sean Combs had actually given her some shout outs on his Instagram.
So that's why I thought this was so interesting that she's coming out now.
I mean, is it the fact that she's seeing it in video?
She's seeing it and she's like, oh my God.
Is that really what's triggering this, I guess?
I don't hate to use her word, but she is seeing it like everybody else is.
And it's maybe opening her eyes.
It's doubtful.
I think that what it is is that no one can support.
After this video comes out, it's very difficult for anyone that was supporting Sean Combs
to now say, I still support Sean Combs.
After seeing that kind of video, after seeing what was on the video, after seeing the reaction
of people, it's just impossible for
someone that is in the public eye to say, hey, I support Sean Combs now after seeing what he did
on that video, even after the apology and things of that nature, which I'm sure we'll get into.
I didn't even think that apology was a good idea for a multitude of reasons. But going forward,
no one is going to say, come
out and say, hey, I support Sean Combs. The only thing they can say is, you know, I've
had different experiences with them. I, you know, and that's what's going on now. I think
that's why she came out now and said that.
And let's take a look at that apology that Sean Combs issued over the weekend, right
after the Cassie video dropped last Friday. It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life.
Sometimes you got to do that. I was up. I mean, I hit rock bottom,
but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable I take full
responsibility for my actions in that video
disgusted I was disgusted then when I did it I'm disgusted now I went and I
sought out professional help. I had to go into therapy, I had to go into rehab.
I had to ask God for His mercy and grace.
I'm so sorry.
But I'm committed to be a better man each and every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness.
I'm truly sorry.
Bradford, you think that this was not a good idea for Sean Combs to do this. Tell me why,
and should he have said anything at all?
I think you're put in a very difficult position. I'm sure he's hiring crisis managers and PR
people and they kind of don't understand the dynamics of this, generally speaking.
When something like this comes out and there's a federal investigation, which I think is taking place as we speak,
and there's state investigations. I think there's multiple units that are involved in terms of governmental agencies that are involved. When you have all that kind of going on,
you don't want to make any statements. You don't want to make a statement, yes, I acknowledge that,
yes, I'm sorry for that. I think in their minds, they thought they were want to make a statement, yes, I acknowledge that. Yes, I'm sorry for that.
I think in their minds, they thought they were going to make it better. I don't think that was
the move. I think if he did anything, he probably should have kept his mouth shut and maybe
entered into a rehab facility or said that he's seeking some sort of psychological help.
I just don't think this was the right move
is to make a statement.
The better move in any of these circumstances,
and if it's warranted,
is to get help for whatever trauma
that individual has experienced
to make them into the individual
that's on the videotape.
And if that includes substance abuse
or some sort of mental instability, that's what you get help for.
You don't start coming out and saying all these statements and saying, you know, this is what
happened and this is how it happened. I was in a dark place. It's not going to help you. Ultimately,
this apology did not help him. And most people kind of brushed it off. it just it wasn't a good idea in my opinion well you know he said he did go he went to therapy he got help after this I mean
I don't know if that's true or not I mean he says it's true but that leads me
to your big Instagram post that really caught my attention about the Cassie video from 2016 and how that got out.
I mean, it ends up on CNN.
CNN, even though they might be number two or three in the ratings, I mean, the ratings
aren't anywhere near Fox.
I work in TV, so I watch these things.
They still are an international news agency.
You go into an airport, CNN is what's playing in every airport
across the country. They still have a global network. They can put things out and it will end
up everywhere. So CNN is still a huge player. And this video leaks to CNN. In Cassie's lawsuit, it says that he paid 50 grand for the tape to secure the tape.
So who got the tape? Is there more than one copy of the tape? And who leaked it? And you think
the feds leaked it. You used to be a federal prosecutor. I think what happened was either
the feds either leaked it or the feds knew about the leak and were okay with the leak from either Cassie's lawyers or someone that was intimate with the details.
First of all, this would not have leaked unless the feds okayed it because there is an investigation going on.
It's not a secret.
His houses were raided.
I think it's going to
be a multitude of things that ultimately he's going to be charged with that's my feeling on it
uh and anyone that's involved the witness that may have had this tape if it's the hotel who had this
tape if it's cassie's lawyers who had this tape they would have gotten an okay or at least notified
uh the the federal authorities
that they were gonna be releasing this tape.
And I think that they think it's a good idea,
which generally for them, it is a good idea,
because what it does is a multitude of things.
Number one is it shows that Cassie was essentially a victim.
So if she partook in any of the illegalities in talking
about drugs, prostitution, weapons, anything that she partook in, that she had a hand in,
you can now say, listen, look at the tape. She was a victim of Sean Combs. She was under his spell.
Obviously, she wasn't going to do anything to make him angry because look at his reaction when he gets angry. So that's the first part of that. And the second part of it is to essentially cut off Sean Combs will now distance themselves from him because they don't want to be associated with what's on that tape.
You don't see them coming out with statements of support.
You don't see anyone saying, hey, I saw it, but I know he's got help for it.
So let's all wait until we see how this all shakes out.
Who knows what's going to happen?
None of that is coming out.
None of his friends are coming to his rescue, which you see quite often. All these people that love to go to his parties, all these
people that love to go on his boats and his planes and hang out with him and invite him to these
great places, none of those people are around now, and nor will they be. And I think that there is no
question that the videotape was leaked by one of those individuals.
I don't know if it was the federal authorities themselves, but I think that the feds knew that this tape was going to come out.
And I think they okayed it because why wouldn't they?
It helps their case.
And anything that helps their case, as long as it can't be traced back to them saying that they did it, they're more than happy to see that come out.
And I personally, my first thought was the feds wouldn't mess up, try to mess up their case
by leaking something like this. My first thought was somehow Cassie had a copy of this,
her attorneys did somehow, and that they leaked it. And I've talked to other former federal
prosecutors who think that there's some coordination going on between the civil lawyers and the federal prosecutors.
And the federal prosecutors might have been like, we're not going to stop yet.
We're not going to tell you what to do.
That's more than likely.
We want to put it out.
We can't say anything.
But then it keeps their hands clean because if they are building this big case that people think is going to be bigger than whatever, and I don't know what that would be, but bigger than bigger, then they don't want to
do anything to mess up their case. Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head. That's why I say
I don't think it was them per se like, hey, we have this tape, we're going to send it to CNN.
But I think that they okayed the releasing of that tape. And I think that'll come out.
Sooner or later, it will come out.
I think this is going to be a very large indictment.
I think it's going to cover years and years of alleged actions on his behalf and others' behalf.
I think they're going to throw the kitchen sink in.
And I think this is going to be a multi-count indictment.
I think it's going to come in the next, I would say, 30 to 45 days. And I think they're going to really try and put as
much as they can into that indictment because they know Sean Combs has the resources to hire
only the best attorneys, have only the best investigators, and all of the above. And they
don't want to lose. So knowing that,
they're going to really lay it on. That's my guess. Well, we will keep an eye on it. And you
would know since you've been on both sides of this coin. So thank you so much, Bradford Cohen,
for coming on. I appreciate it. Thanks for having me. Thank you so much.
And that's it for this episode of Crime Fix. I'm Annette Levy. Thanks so much for being with me.
I'll see you back here next time.
