02:59This is Michael Pittman, NFL running back.Jimmy would probably remember because he was on the Cardinals for years, being a prime.problem on the cartels, being a mediocre running back with off the field issues. He is MichaelPittman Sr., so you know there's trouble coming. Is that right? Absolutely. So that meansthere's also a junior, which means he named his kid Jr., which means he's right in ourcrime and sports fucking crosshairs, as what that is. He's born August 14th, 1975. He's from NewOrleans originally. That's where he was born. Pretty big guy when he grows up, six foot,225, big running back, kind of a beefy run, not a quick guy.
03:40I mean, he was decently quick, but more of a power guy.Sure.So he ends up in California later on, we'll talk about for high school and stuff like that, kicks around the NFL a little bit here. His father's name is Henry, we know. His brother's, he has an older brother named Wayne. He has multiple children.I think he has five kids altogether.
04:03Two daughters and I think three sons, including Michael Pittman Jr.And Micah,M-Y-C-H-A, which is still Mike, which is Mr. Pittman. He's got Michael and Micah as his kids,as his boys that we know at least two of them here.Michael Pittman Jr., by the way,
04:23who's in the NFL.He was selected by the Indianapolis cultsin the second round of the 2020 draft.I think he still plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers,Michael Pittman Jr.So he's in the league. He played for USC.He was an All-American.
04:40Not bad.So, yeah, plays for the Steelers.I think he's active now still.So look at that.His kid's bigger than him.His kid's 6'4.So that helps.Who knew?
04:49I mean, some people, some people. Not us, apparently.Yeah.Now, his family relocated from, this is Michael Pittman, senior, family relocated to San Diegoduring his childhood,
05:01which, yeah, if you've been to both places,I think San Diego gets the number. There's a place we'd rather live than New Orleans.Boy does it.Fuck, New Orleans is just gross. It's so fucking disgustingly humid and nasty and bugs.I couldn't believe that the Pirates of the Caribbean ride is naturally occurring. It's naturally occurring.
05:20That's, you just...In nature. You float by on a piss river while somebody sits on their porch whittling and playing a corncobor smoking a corncob pipe. That's that work.Smells the same.It smells like chemicals and urine.Yeah, it's a wild place.
05:36So Pittman's upbringing is a lot of it's shaped by his father because his father served in the Navy, which is why they ended up from one port city to another port city. All right.Yeah.His father was deployed during the Gulf War in 90 and 91, which was when I, or Michael's early high school years there.I guess his older brother, Wayne was kind of a father figure for him because his father was gone a lot.Sure.And, but a very structured environment big, military family.career military guy,
06:0728 years in the Navy, you know, all that kind of shit here.In high school, both him and his brotherattended Mira MesaSenior High School in San Diego. They played football together.
06:19Both of them were running backs.Michael also played defensive end.Wayne was regardedas the talent at the time.Oh.He averaged 10.7 yards of carryand in one seasongot 1,604 yards in high school.
06:33So. I don't do it.Yeah.The coach of the team, called him the best football player I've ever seen. That's Wayne, not Michael.Recalling how as a sophomore, Wayne delivered such powerful hitsthat opponents would stay down for over a minute. He's like, oh, when he would go out there and hurt children, boy, it gave me a boner.
06:53I just love.Blast him so hard they were on the ground for a minute.Nothing I love seeing than a completely blackout unconscious 15-year-old with brain damage. That is where it's at right there.makes me happy. That's amazing. Only a high school football coach could get a heart on from watching a child be demolished on the field.Wayne earned a scholarship to San Diego State, which is a big college where Marshall Flock played there, didn't he?I know where he went. I know it's very popular. I mean, there was a there's a running back. I know that was later, but there's good running backs come out of there. He played from 91 to 94 where he had 2363 rushing yards and 17.
07:36touchdowns. Michael graduated in 93 and earned first team all Eastern League honors. And he said thatWayne showed him that you could like go to college from this and shit and was an inspirationof someone like, because now there's a path that you see. Sure. You do this. They send you letters. You go visit. You actually, it's not just some weird nebulous theory kind of floating out in theether there. So, you know, during his junior year in 1991, Michael's a big part of theiroffense here. They advanced to the San Diego Section 3A semifinals. In his senior year,he in a high, in a playoff game, he had 130 yards in an upset victory over Helix HighSchool. And he started to get a lot of interest from college programs. And Fresno State offers him,
08:33scholarship.Here we go.He decides to kind of go there. So he commits...He doesn't go to SDSU, huh?He doesn't.I don't know if they were recruiting him very hard or what, but he ends up at Fresno State.Fresno State.
08:46Which I think, when did Marshall Falk come in?I think this is...Marshall Falk would have probably knocked him out of the starting lineup if he went to San DiegoState.Right.So that's probably smart.Yeah.And it was right then, Fawke.
09:00Or was it like 95 when he started there, Marshall Fawke?Fuck. Might have been later. Not sure. Either way, that's where he went.He graduated in, God damn it.Is he 98 draft? Well, now I have to look at it. I tried to click his, it shows his name isnotable. He's earlier. Yeah, no, this is the time when he was at San Diego State, I believe. He was in the NFL in 94. 94. So this is, yeah, you don't want to go. You don't want to go toSan Diego State. He's, no, he's the man. So, um, he was in the NFL. So, um, he was in the NFL. So, um,He anyway goes to Fresno State, which is a Division I program.
09:37It's in the Western Athletic Conference. There's great people that came from there, too.Yeah, a bunch.Did Aaron Judge go to Fresno State?Damn it, I don't even remember.I don't know.Notable alumni.I mean, granted, that's an entirely different sport.
09:53Totally different sport, but still, it makes sense. It's something to look at.They have a history.Paul George went there, Devonte Adams.Aaron Judge. There you go.Tom Seaver went there, James.Interesting.
10:05So some baseball schools have, like Arizona State's one of those that has a...Reggie Jackson, Barry Bonds. There's a lot of guys that went to ASU.Derek Carr went there.Interesting.Was he with Derek Carr at Fresno State? No, that's way later, Derek Carr.Way later.
10:19Was he that? I guess he would have been early 2000.Oh, he's the second...Is he the first or second car?Even David.Which one is it?Even David Carr.David Carr, I think, came in the league. He was came in right when the Texans came in.
10:31So that was like, what, early 2000?or something.Yeah.98, 99.Yeah, maybe 2000, 2001.Yeah, David Carr was later.I think he was like 2001 draftif I had to pull it out of my ass.
10:42Derek Carr is the youngest.Yeah, Derek's the younger one.David is a poor guywho had to run aroundand get the shit pounded out of himon an expansion team.He had no time. They mashed his head
10:53to where he thinks his brother's a Hall of Fame. That's how much he got his ass kicked. He's one of the quarterbacksI feel the worst for, like watching. He never had a chance. They just threw himin there and they're like, you're going to eat a bunch of time. He's like if they had a comic.
11:08And the linebacker dick.Yeah.If there was like a hurricane going on.Yeah.And like the crowd was having a hard time getting there. He's like some poor comic where they go, you do 30 minutes while people pile in.Just while they're ordering, just you eat the dicks. And then we'll have a show for the rest of it.
11:24But for the first half hour, this is on you.And you're going to suck. That poor guy is.He was beaten just into a mold.War wrong.Career ended in 2012, so how long did he play?Fuck, too long, I think.Yeah, over 10 years.
11:40Drafts in 2001.Hey, look at that.Yeah.Fucking got it.All right.So 93 Fresno, they're 8 and 4, Fresno State, which is okay, but it's not like,you know, anything that.Fresno State, that's pretty good, right?
11:54It's not bad.Their quarterback at the time was Trent Dilfer.The.Trent Dilfer went.He wasn't even on the notables.No.because he was not a good quarterbackbut he went to Super Bowl.
12:06He has a Super Bowl, right?You bet.Who else?Ron Rivers, Anthony Daigle,Charlie Jones, Malcolm Sebrun,David Dunn, Titus,Winnens.These are NFL players,
12:16James Burton.A bunch of guys you've never heard of,basically. So the running backs, though, out of five running backs, three of them will make the NFL.So, yeah, during his freshman year,he's just getting used to everything,
12:30developing his role.He plays in seven games, only attempts 20 rushes for 93 yards,so 4.7 per carry, which is good. One touchdown, not bad.21 plays total from scrimmage, basically. You know what? Grace.
12:46This is Grace right here. That's a run and gun team there. They're just, I mean, not even gun, just run first.A lot, yeah, there's a lot of attempts.Yeah, that many running packs at oncethat make the NFL, those are guys that just, they run a lot of running plays.
12:59Their starter that year had,230 attempts, and they had another guy with 156 attempts. So they were running a lot.And Trent Dilfer had 396 pass attempts. But he had 3,799 yards and 30 touchdowns. They were throwing the fuck out of the ball.Wow.Run and gun.
13:16They were running and gunning. So Grace for Michael Pittman right here.Yeah.He's adapting to Fresno State, Grace.Yeah.Because it gets bad from there.1994, they're 5, 7, and 1 this team, which is not good at all, obviously. That's because Trent Dilfer went to the NFL, and now they have Rich Donati in there,
13:38who does not play well. We'll put it that way.Donati the answer.Yeah, he is Denotti the answer.Yeah, not wonderful. So hopefully that'll be good for our guy here, though. But instead in September of 1994, in the beginning of the season, he gets in some trouble.Oh, yes, gets in a little bit of trouble here.
14:02The television station there reports that Pittman and a girlfriend are reportedly engaged in a shoving match in his dorm in September of 94.Uh-oh.However, the campus police chief at the time, Willie Schell, instructed his officers not to seek prosecution by the county district attorney's office.Because.Why do you think because?Because he wants tickets to the game.No reason. He just found Michael to be a charming young man.Too hard to investigate.
14:38A copy of the campus police report shows that Officer Jennifer Walsberg recommended battery and resisting arrest charges against Pittman.Wow.They said, I was ordered not to take the case down to the DA's office.to file it, this particular officer said.Wow. The university vice president, Ben Quillian, said he was aware of the incident, but didn't think there was any policy of protecting athletes.Anybody would have got not charged with that, apparently, even though they were resisting arrest also. This is the way it goes.
15:12Yep, that's how it works. This year, he only plays in three games and has 48 attempts for 174 yards. So not exactly what they were going for here.Perhaps they punished him for it on the team? Not sure.Apparently it was just, this is when he started getting serious about weightlifting and getting more strength in his game and shit like that.I just don't think he had the physicality for college ball quite yet.It seems like.Because the September 94 shit didn't come out until later.
15:44So it wasn't even public till later.1995 Fresno State, five and seven again.Really? They really like hanging around there. They keep Rich Donati, who sucks again. His backup plays a lot, too.He sucks also. But Michael's going to step up and get some playing time.
16:02Basically, it looks like him and two other running backs do like a three-headed monster type of thing. One guy has 131 attempts.Michael has 127 and another guy has 121.Very similar numbers.Sounds like somebody was on the side with a clipboard going, well, we got to get him five carries. You got to keep it even.Real weird.Their dad's all paid tuition.
16:24Yeah, it's like little league or like a mom at Christmas time.Like, well, I got him three presents.I can't get him only one present. One of those things. So that year, he plays in 10 games, 127 attempts for 5161 yards, 4.4 a carry, which is fine.Seven touchdowns. He also has 15 receptions for 111 yards. Not terrible.
16:48He's getting better.1996 Fresno StateThey're four and sevenJesus ChristThey love losing seven gamesAgain, not a greatThey have no quarterbackIs their problem
17:01Michael Pittman is their main rusherThis year thoughHe does very wellHe rushes for13 hundred 30 or 1132 yards13 touchdownsAnd average 5.3 per carryWhich is big time
17:17Over five a carryIs what those scouts are looking forare also 15 receptions again.Same thing.Especially if your numbers are up in the in the carries themselves in numbers, because anybody can average eight yards of carry if they get eight yards once.Yeah.But if you've got to carry a bunch and you can still maintain five every two downs.
17:36You don't see third down. That's incredible.Yeah, 214 yards, 214 carries is a good amount of carries. That's not bad.Yeah.Here's an article from the Fresno B here because he's going to play another year.Apparently he can play five, but he was playing in his freshman year, so I don't know how he wasn't redshirted.I don't know how that works, but he's here for another year.
17:58There's an article here from the Fresno B that says Pat Hill had just finished speaking at the Western Athletic Conference Football Media Preview when he was approached by Charlie Jones, executive director of the blue-gray All-Star Football Classic.Jones opened a blue binder for the Fresno State football coach to see, placed his right forefinger on a redstone.running back's name and said, I want him.Not nine months removed from the NFL, Hill responded, he's going to play on Sundays.Michael Pittman will first concentrate playing well on Saturdays. He must, for there's hardly no way for the Bulldogs to be competitive in 1997.Fresno will go as far as Pittman will carry us, especially early, Pat Hill said.Wow.
18:43An unproven quarterback and wide receiver, as they've had in 20 years, the Bulldogs, dogs will give the ball repeatedly to a tailback who rushed for 1,1132 yards last year.Third in school history, by the way.Wow.He averaged 19 and a half carries. This year, they said, Coach Hill said he wants, this is Michael.Coach Hill said he wants me to carry 30 times a game.I'm okay with it.
19:07As a senior, I have to carry the load. The emphasis will be on the running game because that's where we have the most experience, plus the offensive line is experienced too, and we have a lot of respect for each other.Yeah. So, yeah, that's what they're talking about. So he had so much hype going into the NFL.Oh, yeah. And it must have been because of that. That season must have just, my God, shot him to the moon.
19:31Well, he had to carry them. They said, this was a running backs coach said, moving all the way down there and not scoring like we did last year, that hurt.Gaining 100 yards and all that stuff means nothing. We need Mike to move the chains and make big runs in crucial situations. That'll be the key for us.And this year, if he gets tired, I think we have good enough backups to spell him.Last year, we didn't have as much depth. He got tired.
19:55And, well, I don't even want to say the term, which he was fumbling a lot, basically.Oh.So they don't like that.I like how it goes on.Imagine if he didn't get tired. He maybe would have held onto the ball and gotten first in school history. That's what they were saying. And they're like, once he got tired, he started fumbling, started getting, which happens.
20:15So they say wearing glasses.matching silver loop earrings and his biceps bursting out of a short-sleeved gray shirt.Twin testimony to his 415-pound bench press, he carries himself with confidence among the WAC media.Let's give them it in their own words.Oh, no, never mind. This is...Hurry up.I'm not enough.
20:38Okay.I'm bigger, stronger, faster, and more mature than I've ever been before.I think I'm going to have a good season. He said that his older brother, Wayne, has moved to Fresno to train with him. He's ready to go.They talk about his new quarterback, Billy Volick. So he said that...Did he get drafted? Volick?
21:01That sounds familiar.Volick was in the league, yeah, for a minute, I think. He said, when Billy gets a couple games under his belt, I think we'll pass more. He's a great quarterback. We haven't had a quarterback for a while who can run like he can.So 97, 6 and 6 is the team. They still suck.Volick does play in the NFL and his backup that year, David Carr.
21:20There you go. There he is.You got him for a minute. On this whole roster, it's just those three.David Carr and Derek Carr went to the same college. That makes sense. A lot of times it happens.Corey Hall, a defensive back, and Peyton Williams, a defensive back. So, yeah, that's about right.August 31, 97, Pittman run delayed by suspension.
21:43Uh-oh.Now we got problems here.Okay.They said what was expected to be a banner season for Fresno State tailback, Michael Pittman, got off to a disastrous start Saturday when he was suspended indefinitely by coach Pat Hill for missing a team meeting Friday night. He missed one meeting indefinite?Well, it's not just that. That's the problem.
22:06Pittman, arguably the team's best prospect and goes over his stats.Let's see.missed the 9 p.m. meeting at theteam hotel because of a domesticdispute with an ex-girlfriend.LalishaZazaboy of Fresno.Oh boy. And the coach said,
22:25until I get all the facts,Michael Pittman will be suspended.Interesting. Normallycollege coaches go, we'll dealwith that when all the facts come in. For now,we're going to play football. This guy said, until I get no different, fuck this guy.I've heard one fact,
22:40and we'llsuspend him until I get the other ones and decide how bad this is really going to be.That's it. Not a lot of coaches did that in the mid-90s. That's interesting. He said, hopefully, we'll get this cleared up by today at the latest Tuesday. I felt it was necessaryto suspend him. It was very, very hard for him, but it's just something you have to do.Wow, Pittman didn't provide details on the incident, but did say police came to the apartmentto investigate. Pitman denied being taken into custody. That wasfeuded by the coach hill who said pitman was taken to the fresno police department but wasn't arrested so there's lies going on here
23:19hill said i talked to the on-site officer at ten o'clock and he said michael was perfect that he could go at any timei've talked to michael his parents and the other person involved and i think there was a greatmisunderstanding on the whole deal oh uh hill said he was told by pitman and zaza boy the running back didn'tstrike her. Yeah, he was like, if you say I hit you, then my fucking, I'm not going to get draftedand you're, you know, you've been hanging on waiting for money. And I've been using you to,for physical purposes. So this is not going to work out for either of us. Let's tell him it was ashoving match. You shoved me first, though. You shoved me first. But you hit me with like a, like a slapjackor something. You really, you hit me with a weapon. And then I had to get you back. I shoved you
24:05in one shoulder. And that's what happened. It's really. Hill said he was told.by them that he didn't strike her. They said the officers responded to a 911 call from a neighbor on adomestic violence, said Hill. When they got there, they said Michael had his hands on her neck as theywere getting into a car. He was just guiding her in. Showing her how to get in. Safely. Watch your head.He did not want her to hit her head. It would have must her hair. And she spent a lot of time workingon it. And he was like, listen, I don't want you to mess up. You get a concussion if he hit it toohard.Yeah.
24:36Officers thought they saw a threatening situation. The athletic director, Al Bould, declined to comment, but did say he was extremelyproud of the way Pat Hill handled his first major problem, the coach.Hill said, I think you have to stand for what you believe.Michael obviously was involved in something we don't condone with this football team. Now, Pittman said initially, after explaining the incident to Hill, he was disappointed withthe suspension, but he also expects it to be, quote, cleared up today at apress conference that will include the woman and the coach. All three of us are going to get up there
25:10and tell you nothing happened. And it's fine. Pitman said, you know what? We got to do it in their ownwords here. When he's explaining away domestic violence, I think we need to, that's what we needto talk about in their own words here. And I'm going to bring all three of us so that there's noconfusion. In their own words, quote, it's a big misunderstanding. It's not as big as it came out to be.Nothing really happened to tell you the truth.I respect Coach Hill's wishes because he's the head coach.I can't do anything about that.I was really disappointed when he told me,
25:41but it was very hard on Coach Hill to tell me.He knows what this game meant to me,the first of my senior year.Oh, boy.Oh, boy, that is.It's meant to me.I'm hurt by the fact that I'm suspended.Coach knows what this means to me.
25:57It was nothing, but I still have to do a suspensionbecause nothing oftentimes results in suspended.pensions.Cops, sometimes they see your hands around someone's throat. They think there's choking. They don't understand how you get into cars. They don't know how you do it.It's New Orleans style.
26:11See, they don't get it.I'm a gentleman. It's like Zatarans. It's a whole separate thing. It's just New Orleans style. You don't get it.You've ever been to San Francisco? You've got to get the San Francisco tree.
26:22That's what it is, and that's that. So, anyway, September 5th, now he faces a domestic battery charge.Oh?He's expected to be charged with misdemeanor battery by the district attorney. And the district attorney said, I consider it a strong case based on what the police officer observed. It's one thing if it's witnesses. If a cop watched you do something, it's hard to get out of that. They're getting on the stand with their uniform and go, I watched him do this.
26:52Then it's just you sitting over there. So the DA said that he read the police report but declined to give details of the case here.the Bulldogs coach suspended him obviously.Pittman told the B before the game and it's just a misunderstanding like we talked about.Hill told the B that based on accounts he heard from Pittman and Zazaboy, the police officer on the scene and the police officer on the scene, he concluded nothing violent occurred and that just that was an argument that became very loud.Hill also said this week that if Pittman's story wasn't supported by the DA's office, office, he would probably be suspended again indefinitely, but the Bulldogs host Baylor on Saturdaynight at Bulldog Stadium. Hill and said that Hill and Pittman, who has practiced all week, could not
27:42be reached for comment, obviously. Yeah, the freed, the district attorney, said an officer was nearthe apartment when he heard the 911 call. As he arrived, Pittman was pulling out of the parking lot.Hill said that Zaza Boy hasn't pressed charges, but freed the DA.The state proceeds against individuals in about 90% of domestic violence cases.Okay.So, September 6, 1997, he's playing still. He doesn't get suspended again, even though he's going to be charged. So the article says, the cop watched Michael Pittman push the woman in the passenger seat with one arm, steer the car with the other.
28:25The neighbor's 911 call suggests this confrontation had been loud enough for everyone at the Lake Ridge apartments to concern themselves with the safety of Zazzoboy last Friday.Wow.When she finally climbed out of the passenger seat, she had scratches on her neck and blood on her hands.Well, that's how long.Listen, everybody.God damn.I go out with my wife all the time.Me and Sarah will, we might go out to dinner.
28:52We might go shopping or something. And when we do, inevitably, by the time she gets out of the car, there's going to be scratches and blood.I mean, who isn't covered in blood by the time?Scratches and blood? You get out of the car. That's crazy. What a fucking.Wow.
29:07Okay.So the officer, Michael Nevo of the Fresno Police Department, asked Pittman to explain the events.Explain.What's up with the scratches and blood? Why is she bloody, dude? There's got to be a reason.Hitman, or Pitt, Hitman, I'll call him Hitman after this.Pitman said, basically, here was Pittman's answer.
29:29The officer couldn't mistake it because it was shouted over and over again, which was, quote, do you know who I am?Oh, don't say that.Do you know who I am over and over again?Like, this is, I own Fresno.Wow.First of all, if you're pulling that card in Fresno, that's a real weak fucking flex, number one.I'm the king of Fresno. All right, calm down, chief.
29:54I do think.I'm the fucking Duke of Bakersfield.Like, you could, you live in a trash city.Nobody cares. What, Riverside next? The lieutenant of Riverside?Tell me about it.Fuck.
30:08I've gone out to Pomona where I reigns supreme. No one touches me, damn it.No one fucks with me and Yakaya.I'll tell you right now.Oh, man.Do you know who I am, which is the dumbest thing anybody could say. She's so silly.Well, even very famous people look stupid saying it.
30:30Yeah.There's like 10 people throughout history that could have got away with it where it's like, the cop knows who you are.You know what?Because everyone knows who you are. It's very few people. It's so few.Frank Sinatra maybe could have said, don't you know who I am?Timberlink pulled that shit.
30:47And we laughed at him.And the cop are.The cop had no idea. No, that's the thing. That's amazing. It's crazy. You could have been like maybe Joe Namath, Hank Aaron, and like Frank Sinatra, the only people who could have got away with Babe Ruth, maybe, could have got away with don't you know who I am.
31:06And it would have been like, yeah, obviously you know who they are, stupid. No one else can get away with that, especially not a running back for Fresno State. That's never. That is not going to work.No.I mean, Jesus Christ. So they said, sadly for Pittman, this didn't impress Nouveau, the cop.He isn't a Fresno State football fan.
31:29He couldn't remember Pittman was the runner responsible for fumbling the ball over and over a season ago.Hilarious.Which is fucking funny. He says that, God damn it, that's so funny. So, yeah, don't you know who I am?They said that all Nouveau heard was the common cry of an athlete caught.Do you know who I am?The instinct of the athlete is to believe he's above suspicion, above accountability.
31:53They've been taught it for so long. Those words roll out of the mouths of Michael Irvin and Tony Phillips in a long list of busted ball players. This is the mid-90s.I'm going to look into Tony Phillips, by the way.I've heard a bunch of shit about him.Despite his pleas, Pittman is expected to be charged with misdemeanor battery. His cockiness was sobered with cuffs and the threat of losing his senior season. The player has expressed remorse.
32:16He began counseling sessions on Friday.I thought it was just an argument.Right.We need counseling for, Chief. He has no known pattern of abusive behavior.Pittman and Zazzoboy are adamant that the bloody nose and scratches were the result of a lot of pushing and shoving.A lot. That's what O.J. says all the time.
32:37Remember when O.J.All those things. We was tussling. We was just tussling. You know how pushing back and forth. How often do you get in shoving matches? With your significant, I have never.I've been with Sarah now for 11 years, whatever,
32:52and we've been married for fucking since 2017.We've never laid hands on each other. Not a tussle. She's never shoved me.There's never pushing.I've never shoved her.Ever.It just doesn't ever happen.
33:07Last time I shoved a woman, it was my sister.Yeah.When we were like 12.You shouldn't shove a girl past the age of 12.All's fair.under 12. There's pushing, shoving playground shit.Kids don't know how to express that. After 12. But I did have, I pushed her in that moment and I laid just a ton of weight
33:28into her shoulder and she was kind of coming at me. And she weighed nothing. So I stopped hershoulder and her feet kept going. So she just, bro, right on her back. And I was horrifiedthat I was capable of that. I can't imagine doing that too.A woman that I kiss. You know what I mean?I saw one of my friends' brothers kicked his little sister across the room when we were kids. He, like, lost his mind, this dude and was like, started, like, just beating up all the kids, all the little kids.Because there's four, five kids total.
34:04And he had twin little sisters and a little brother. And the one I was hanging out with, and he's the oldest. And he just started, he threw like a kitchen chair aside, like fucking punched one kid, punched his 10-year-old brother. Then like his nine-year-old, one of the twin sisters came running up.He turned like a fucking karate movie. He turned and just kicked her, not like a karate kick, not sideways.Straight up kicked her in the chest. And I watched this child fly through the, left her feet, dude.
34:34I am spoo. This is sparta. She couldn't have weighed 55 pounds. She was like nine.Flew through the air and hit the wall and slid down. And I was like, I got to get out of this fucking place. This is crazy.I'm going away.
34:48He just sparted his sister.I was like, wow.And he's standing there like, who wants more? And I'm like, there's small children laying in piles everywhere.I'm like, this is crazy.Perhaps there's another Persian I can kick.Oh, dude, it was wild, man.Fucking, it's crazy.
35:05But this, he's a 200-something-pound giant muscled up guy.The fuck of you do.And how big must she be?Yeah. At least my friend was like 5'1.He was a tiny little guy.Still, he shouldn't have been.kicking little girls.
35:18Oh, man.So anyway, he began counseling sessions, no known abusive behavior, blah, blah, blah.He said no blows were struck. And it doesn't change one thing under no circumstances should he have obviously put hishands on her.And the coach agrees he suspended him for the Portland State game. But he says he understands enough about the circumstances surrounding the incident to let him play against Baylor.Because we could really use the W.
35:45you. Let's be honest here.It would help.We won five games each other.Had he thought his player had beaten her, the coach of Shores,Pittman would not be playing tonight.No.Pushing and shoving. He is parsing between levels of domestic violence.Pretty sure he didn't beat her.
36:05Her nose is bleeding. You shoved her face? That's a hit. She's got scratches.Yeah.Just because you didn't close your fist doesn't mean anything. The coach sweated.wears by the stories of these students, says he believes Pittman never struck her. Most of all, Hill
36:21says Pittman is a danger to no one but opposing defenses. Above everything else, this had to be thepriority. This university had better believe Pittman isn't a threat on campus. Maybe he hadn'tdragged Zaza Boy down a flight of stairs as Nebraska's Lawrence Phillips did with classmateKate McEwen two years ago. But Pittman's apparent act, to see episode two of crime and sports. But we got to do a redo of Lawrence Phillips, too, one of these days.Boy, he are fucking crazy.Menace.Trying to run over kids at the park, I remember.
36:53He's like a nutcase. But Pittman's apparent actions are still serious.Zazzoboy refuses to press charges, but the district attorney says there's a case to prosecute.Okay.The old Syracuse quarterback Don McPherson, who's now the director of mentors and violence prevention program at Northeastern University, said interms of gender violence, there's no difference in terms of potential threat with Lawrence Phillips and Pittman. These are two men who learn to resolve conflicts with women with violence.Yeah, if that's even on your fucking tray as an option, if that's on your buffet.
37:31If that's a tool in the toolbox, why not use it?If that is on your conflict resolution buffet, you are going to pick that one up every time. It's just how it's happening. So Fresno State needs to develop a system to handle these cases across America.too common of an occurrence.Ernest to educate himself on the issue,Hill freely says he was unpreparedwhen police arrested his star player
37:53on the eve of the season. This is like a new coach coming in.He's like got a star player. He's like, this is the first sandwich I get,a big shit sandwich.Wow.He investigated the matter, met with everyone,
38:05from the DA to police to parents,to alleged suspect and victim. He made a stand to suspend Pittman for the Portland game, but understands now he takes a riskletting him back in for the season. He says, I wasn't quite ready to handle this one, but I handled it.And there will sure be other incidents off campus, I'm sure, that over time I'm going to have to deal with. This was an education for me.
38:28I've never been faced with it, but my whole life I understood, you don't touch girls, you don't hit girls.Yeah, no shit. That's pretty obvious. The answer, yeah. Now McPherson, the guy from that organization, an ex-Siracruce quarterback, said for most coaches, they don't think about these things until they happen. They fear them, but they don't think the issue through.Yeah.
38:49And that's what it is.They can't do that.So they go on to say, maybe a coach can't control an athlete, but he can condition him.Football coaches can do something else to prevent this behavior. There's a lot of reasons why a man can turn violent toward a woman. As a child,
39:06he could have watched his mother be abused. He could have been a victim himself.Something else happens with athletes.here's where football coaches,pee-wee to pros, have to understandthat they can be part of the problem.McPherson says,
39:20one of the things people say to themat a young age is,hey, you throw like a girl. What they're doing is telling themat an early agethat girls are something less than boys.Don't be a girl.Don't be weak.
39:31Don't be wimpy. That's part of the climateand culture where women are being devalued. Now, a lot of guysroll their eyes when they hear that kind of shit, but this is also from a major, major universitiesstarting quarterback
39:44this isn't somethis isn't some nerdy guyin glassessome academic guyhe doesn't know what the fuckhe's talking abouthe doesn't know aboutbattle and he doesn't know
39:51about what men dothat's a quarterbackhe's been blindsidedhe's fuckinghe knows what he's talking aboutso if he can think that waydon't be a fuckingknuckle dragger yourself
40:00everybodythey said it can be a constantbarragethey are inundatedwith televisionand advertisingwith music and videosenough is enough
40:09This is Linda Fontanello, executive director of the Fresno YWCA.She says that kind of talk is continuing dysfunction that this society doesn't want to look at.Society has set those words and actions, has to see those words and actions have impact. The problem is when you are saying you throw like a girl to another guy, you're not trying to insult girls. You're trying to insult him. That's the thing. You're not thinking that girls throw like shit. You're just thinking he will be insulted if I tell him he throws like a girl.
40:44That's part of it.You know what I mean?Boys insult to other boys are not understood by it, unless you were a little boy that understands how you talk to each other. And it's maximum humiliation and self-consciousness.That's what you're going for.It was funny. It's the thing.I get it.
41:10Why do you throw like that?Do you have a vagina?Yeah. It's a very funny thing that we do.It's what kids do.It's what boys do.And as an adult you see, okay, yeah, I can see how that played out.It can be bad.
41:23But I don't know how you, how you. It's not inaccurate either.No.Most of the time, there is a certain way of throwing that is the good.I've seen girls that throw fucking great.Doesn't matter.Certainly.We've seen some athleticism come from a girl's throw.
41:37but I'm still never like, wow, Nolan Ryan would never be able to do that.No.I never thought that.Nope.And I think it's also, I mean, boys and girls, especially, I don't know about right now, but like when we were kids, boys went to more ball-oriented things. So you were throwing balls from the time you were a little kid.And whereas girls didn't really like not all of them, but most of them weren't really into ball sports. So they weren't into throwing.
42:02So then when someone throws them a ball and they're nine, they don't know how to throw it.So they go, yeah. And they do that.Right.And that's...Look like you're throwingwith your left every time.Exactly.
42:10So I know people are going to say, when I was a girl,I threw,I know y'all threw ballsand everybody was great. We're just saying the general, generalization, huge generalization. But why aren't you pitching
42:19to Aaron Juddrich?It's because it's just different.It's not,yeah.It's not disparaging.No, no.It's not.And not at all.
42:29I probably can't play in the WMBA.As much as in my mind,I'm like,I can probably score.I could probably score. In my head, I'm like, ah, I'd cross these bitches up.Meanwhile, you break your own ankle trying to cross somebody up at this point in your 40s.My shin bone would come right the fuck through my skin.
42:58Totally.Well, you lay there grasping your Achilles and your compound fracture in your shen. You bitches aren't that tough.Well, they're running back and forth up and down the corner around you.Oh, you're writhing in pain. But in my head, in my head, I'm 20 years younger, and I don't think, I don't see much of a difference between that and that. But look, they're very, they're very athletic ladies.Yeah, they're doing great.
43:25But you can't, you can't do it.Yeah, no, no.With all dudes. You just can't.You can't do that. They know that.No.The only way I could score in the WMBA is I'll post one of these bitches up and throw a fucking elbow at him and we'll play New York 90 streetball.
43:41I bet they can't.And I'll score a lay-ards.Because these centers are fucking seven feet tall. You won't reach their face.Even as a man in my late 40s, I think I could run circles around them though. Those are not very fast women at all, the giant ones. They don't run very fast.20 years ago, I don't look like Oliver Miller out there.
44:01I could have run with them.Probably not. That's a sad part. But every guy thinks they can.I sure do like making the claim. That's what I mean. That's what we do.Because you know why?
44:14Because you can't prove me wrong.Nope.Can't.No one's going to let me on the court to find out.Nobody's got a 20-year time machine. That's why.I'll throw an elbow right in that fucking titty and we'll see how it goes.I'll step on your fucking pedicure.
44:29That's how it's going down.Because otherwise, I know I might be a.embarrassed badly here. So I'm resorting to physical violence because it's on the court. It's okay.Hey, we're all people on the court. You're going to fuck your manicure up.Off the court, never touch you. On the court, elbows are flying, baby. Get out of the way. It's coming. Sorry. Different story. So anyway, Pat Hill gives Michael Pittman a chance for redemption. He gives his football team a chance for victory. He could get burned. Hill has learned a lot thisweek, but undoubtedly these changing times have taught this.
45:00Should this happen again with Pittman as a member of the Fresno State Bulldogs, the bloodwon't be only on her hands. It will be on the coaches too.Obviously.Now, same paper, same day.It says Michael Pittman agrees to counseling and will play in Fresno State's game againstBaylor, so they have all that. And then this.
45:22Pat Hill says this is a very unfortunate situation that's being handled proactively.domestic violence should never be taken lightly.I do not condone what happened.Mike would still be suspended if he did not agree to counseling. So they didn't include any of that in the other article, which is fucking weird. So misdemeanor battery is what it looks like here. They wouldn't suspend him if he agreed to counseling. So meaning he didn't agree to counseling?
45:48He did agree to counseling. That's the only reason he's playing. He was suspended right away and then he's going to play in the bailer game because, you know, it's okay.Yeah, apparently the running, the Zazzo Boy, I guess they had just broken up from a three-year relationship is what Pittman says. And Hill said that Pittman and Zazzo Boy's descriptions of the dispute, which began at an East Central Fresno apartment complex, continued in a car.Pittman was driving. The cop there, the Michael Nevo guy, said he observed Pittman driving Zazzo Boy's rental car and was clearly enraged. He said, Pittman was holding her by the name.
46:26neck and slamming her face down toward the seat. He's fucking...There's another problem.Slamming her into the dashboard, for Christ's sake.Right.That's insane. After stopping the car, Nivo said Zazaboy was reluctant to be interviewed by officers. There was evidence that she'd been bleeding from her nose and had fingernail scratches on the back of her neck.
46:45Wow.Hill said he interviewed Pittman and Zazzoboy last Saturday, and they admitted to a lot of pushing and shoving again. And they think that the nose bleed was caused by contact with Pittman's shoulder.when he pulled her out of the car at the apartment complex.Again, how hard are you pulling someone out of a car?Wow.That's insane.Hill said he didn't disclose those details last weekend because he promised confidentiality to the pair.
47:10He was plus and it'll look worse, you know.Pittman did not respond when approached by the B at this Fresno B at practice. And the running backs coach said that Pittman will not comment.Hill says, I'm sticking with Michael Pittman.I believe him and I trust him.I think they were very truthful in their stories correspondedwith everything I heard from the officers involved. If you heard from that officer that you saw him
47:37bashing her fucking face into something and all thatand you didn't kick him off your team, then it's on you, Dick, you're a dick.Don't say that you give a shit about any of this.He said, I don't condone what Michael did.Well, sure seems like you do if you're letting him play.Which is why I suspend.him. I feel he served his time and learned a valuable lesson. He didn't play one football game.
47:59Wow.Served his time.If he does get convicted, I'll take another stand, but I don't think it'll go to trial.Wow, that is fucking amazing. Now, the DA says he expects Pittman to plead innocent. Then he said that the district attorney will offer a conditional plea by which Pittman must enter an extensive battery treatment program.and if he keeps his nose clean, the case would be dismissed. That's kind of the first-time misdemeanor battery thing here. The chance.
48:30Yeah.Fresno State's athletic director said Michael Pittman should thank the Lordthat he has Pat Hill as his football coach because he's doing something about it.For that kid, this is a tremendous wake-up call.Okay.So, anyway, they're also talking about the other shoving matchfrom 1994 as well. That comes up now as we talked about.
48:54There was another incident that was talked about three years ago.November 2nd, 1994 here, it says Pittman run cut short gladly.First a nine-yarder, then a one-yarder, a four-yarder, and a six.Fresno State tailback Michael Pittman had scored four touchdowns in the game's first 27 minutes Saturday against San Jose State.Four?Four in the first half of the game.Holy.With 33 minutes remaining,
49:27Shirley Don Driscoll's school record of five rushing touchdowns set in 1954 would fall.Didn't happen.Such is the bane of a 53 to 12 victory.Wow.Pittman said, I don't know about the school record.I'm fortunate I got four. That's the most of my career.Coach Pat Hill said all week it was going to be a physical game and it was for me.
49:48I took a lot of hits.He only carried seven times in the second half because it was a blowout, so you let your freshman play or whatever. So that's what they're talking about there.1997 here, he has 238 rushes and 11 games for 1,057 yards, which is 4.4 a carry, which is almost a yard less than last year.Sure.But, yeah, and still pretty damn good.So 1997, Pittman is – and he was kind of the center of everything. He was second in the whack in rushing yards at 96.1 a game.
50:27And he rushed for 100 yards or more 11 times in his final two seasons. He's a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.1998 here, he pleads no contest to the misdemeanor battery charge. He is sentenced, you, sir, may fuck off two years probation and treatment for a year.and treatment. And treatment here.He was Fresno's state's most valuable player last season. So there you go.
51:01Let's see here.January 17, 1998.Here, Pittman Conrad keeps Sundays on minds today. So we're talking about it's the Senior Bowl, apparently.Pat Hill said it's the game in regards to players being exposed to who matter in the NFL.This was still the 90s when the senior bowl mattered.Yeah.There wasn't as much.
51:25Now you can punch up and watch any college football game anytime you want.Very easily.Back then, especially the West Coast teams.Oh, yeah.If you lived on the East Coast or whatever, those games were on at 2 in the morning. Those games, no one fucking cared. So they did not get a lot of attention, a lot of the WAC teams back then.So the Senior Bowl would be a big deal.
51:48they said, and with all due respect to the blue-gray game,an annual Christmas treat in Montgomery, Alabama, the East West Shrine is a prestigious show at Stanfordand the Hula Bowl nestled comfortably in Maui.Only one of the postseason all-star gatheringsis directed by NFL coaches, the Senior Bowl.So that's what he wants. He wants in the Senior Bowl, obviously.
52:11They said he projects better down the roadbecause he's got, he's very strong, and the NFL will be looking for that. One scout. He's a giant fucking guy. He's real stocky. His arms are bananas.Yeah.
52:26One scout said Pittman's toughness is showing up.He's having a good week of practice showing that he belongs.A lot of people hadn't heard of him, even though he's big shit in Fresno, like we said,if he's not in one of the people, one of like the national TV Saturday afternoon games,it doesn't matter, really.A lot of people hadn't heard of him, but he's right in there with all the other running backs.he's got a 320-pound man's legs and a 280-pound man's upper body.It sounds like he should weigh a lot more than he does then.
52:55Right.He's got half of two guys.Very strange. He'll preferred not to share what rounds in the April draft Marcher Brota staff feelsPittman and Conrad will be taken. However, most analysts and the scouts say that Pittman is a solid third rounder. And there we go.That's good.
53:14Mel Kuyper's draft projections here have, what is this, like eight running backs. They have Curtis Enos, who played for the Bears, Robert Edwards, Tavian Banks, Fred Taylor,he's a very good running back longtime Jaguar, Amon Green, the Packers guy for a long time,Robert Holcomb, Skip Hicks from UCLA, and Michael Pittman is the last one on his list.So those are the top guys he's got there. And then Conrad is an offensive tackle who he's got kind of in the same area.So April 18th and 19th is the NFL draft.1998 NFL draft is an easy one.
53:51Jimmy, number one pick in the 98 NFL draft.98, was that Aaron Rogers? No, 2005.No, that's 2002.No, that was 2008.2000.2000's Brady.I mean, round eight.
54:03Yeah, round seven.To 98?God damn.Easy one.Michael Vic?No.Easy.Is it easy?
54:10It's so easy.Peyton Manning.Oh, yeah, yeah.It's a Bain Manning, Ryan Leaf Draft.In 98, huh?Charles Woodson going forth.Yeah, Andre Wadsworth.It's so weird that 1998 is so long ago.
54:24It really is.So long ago.Almost 30 years ago. Here, this will make you feel old. This year, the MVP, Terrell Davis.Yeah.Rookie of the year, Randy Moss in the offense.Defensive rookie of the year, Charles Woodson.
54:39Offensive player of the year, Terrell Davis, defensive player of the year, Reggie White, passing leader Brett Favre, rushing leader, Terrell Davis, and receivingleader Antonio Freeman. There you go.Yeah, that should have beena much better Super Bowl.Well, I guess it was a pretty good Super Bowl.
54:55It came down to the end.It was good. This is a pretty packed draft, too.I mean, you got Manningand Charles Woodson, God,Kernis, Enis, that's not great.Grant Westram. Kyle Turley's in there.Fred Taylor, Dwayne Stark,
55:09who played for a long time.Trey Thomas, the tackle from the Eagles to Keo Spikes. He was great for a minute.Jason Peter, we have him and Christian Peter, the brothers, they fuck up a lot.Von Holliday, Randy Moss.Randy Moss was 21st overall.Wow.Because of character issues or whatever the fuck.
55:29That's too bad. They really fucked up.6'4 and he runs a 4-3-40.Get his ass on the fucking field. What are we talking about?Who cares? It's the NFL.Never had an issue.
55:40The field, did he?No, he almost ran over that cop one time, but she was being an asshole, so I almost kind of give him a pass on that.Everything was on the field that everybody was like, oh, his character sucks. He's having fun, and he's...He did take a lot of plays off, which pissed a lot of coaches off.Sure.He'd just take a play off and whatever, but...But when he blocked, boy, did he block?
56:01The problem is he didn't block much. And he'd forget to block, and he'd just take a play off.If he's not a running play, just stand there.but if you need a fucking ball thrown up and it's a 50-50,he's coming down with it and probably running afterwards. So that's your guy.50-50, and you probably got more 70% that he's going to catch him. He's going to be taller and he jumps like a motherfucker too.
56:23So he was nasty. And he's going to fake moon the Green Bay crowd and whatever.Fuck him.Alan Fenneka, another Hall of Famers. So four Hall of Famers in the first round. Not bad.Corey Chavis, he wasn't bad for the Cardinals there.second round.
56:37A bunch of guysstill, Flozell Adams,a bunch of guyswho played a long timeCam Cleland,Samari Roll.A lot of guys, this is a stacked
56:46fucking draft.Yeah, pretty fun.Yeah, third round there.Heinz Wardat the end of the third round.Wow, really? That's a pretty good stealby the second
56:57overall.The Steelers got him.Not bad.Then fourth round,pick 95,right beforeas Azir Akeem,remember from the
57:10Rams back then?Yeah. The guy used to punch the fuckingremember he'd come upand punch the goddamngoalpost?Goal post paddingafter a touchdown there.
57:22Right before him, pick 95,the Arizona Cardinalstake Michael Pittman.Yeah.There we go.Yeah, I remember thatwhen they got him here.
57:31A Julian Pittmanwent number 99.No relation.Oh.but to the Saints, New Orleans, where he's from.Weird.All right. So there we go.
57:39Arizona, by the way, not a good drafters known for it for a long time.Possibly the worst, to be honest. Not good.Behind Cleveland and their quarterback search.Yeah, they're not good. They're bad at this. This year it was Andre Wadsworth, who's a big bust, and they drafted him third overall.
57:58Could add Charles Woodson.Instead, they had fucking Andre Wadsworth.Yeah, Andre Wadsworth and Michael Pittman in the same draft.Same draft. So here's Arizona's first round draft picks from 1990 to 2000, just to give you an overview. There's a couple that aren't bad.Anthony Thompson is 1990.He's a second rounder because they traded away their first that year.
58:19That was when Buddy Ryan came in, I think.1991, Eric Swan, who was okay for a few years.Pretty good.1999.No first rounder again, but their first pick is Tony Saka, a quarterback in the second round.who I've never fucking heard of.1993, they had two first round picks.Garrison Hurst was one of them who, you'd say,
58:43great player, but not for the Cardinals. No, for Niners. He held out because they wouldn't give him any fucking money. And they used to say, we don't do the bells and whistles of contracts. And it's like, well, that's what everyone else does in this league. We don't take care of people.Yeah.We don't negotiate fairly with our people.
59:01We do a different thing. And Ernest Die is their other first.round pick.Swan was good until he got super fucking fat, right?Yeah, he fucked his knee up after that.Oh, there it was. Yeah, knee injury in like 96, 7, something like that.Jamir Miller, 1994.Frank Sanders was the second round pick.
59:20Oh, he was good.Decent receiver.Not a top guy, a mid-level receiver.Good possession guy.The Detroiton did better?I don't remember what Frank Sanders did.He was there for a while.96, Simeon Rice, who was fun.
59:3397 Tom Knight, a defensive back.98, Andre Wadsworth, already discussed.1999, David Boston, complete disaster.Oh, God, fuck.Decent for a minute and then started doing shitloads of roids and acting like a maniac. We could do it out.And then D-U-I's.D-U-I's.
59:52And then finally, 2000, Thomas Jones, the Virginia running back, who again held out until forever and was a bust. So, there you go.May 21st, 1998.So it took a month to sign him, but Pittman signs to a three-year deal with the Cardinals.1998, Arizona Cardinals here.Vince Tobin, the coach, remember those days?Yeah. They're nine and seven, actually.
01:00:17Okay.They go, this was the final, I got to admit, this is the one game I've ever rooted for the Cardinals in.It was in this playoff game. The Wildcar game against the Cowboys, where they ended the Cowboys, Horshit. This was the last, this was the last. This was the last hurrah where they said,we can still do it this year. And then the Cardinals beat him.
01:00:37And then they were like, okay, rebuilding.Let's go.Rebuild.Start over.Start over.So that was that. Then they lost to the Vikings 41, 21,in the divisional round there,
01:00:48because they were not a great teamby any stretch of the fucking imagination. What year was that?98.Okay.And the Vikings went on to get their ass smoked by the Falcons. And then Falcons played the Broncos in Super Bowl. This was Jake Plummer starting.
01:01:01a quarterback, the fucking worst throwing quarterback I've ever seen in my life. The worst looking ball of anybody ever.I loved him with Denver.Boy, did I like that season.Fuck, can he throw like shit?He is just so mediocre. It's not even funny. And if you look up his statistics, most of them come while they're down by 30 points and
01:01:21people are playing prevent defense on him.He would play like shit for three quarters. They'd be down. And then all of a sudden he'd have three touchdowns and 200 yards and while no onecared.and they just backed up and let him catch passes and fucking tackle. It was pathetic. So I can't stand Jake Plummer.
01:01:36Now he's turned into kind of a cool guy.Now he's fucking great.Denver is that season they went 13-3.He was amazing. He was dumb as shit too. That's how good of a team they had.Despite having Jake Plummer, they still fucking went 13 and 3.That's saying something.
01:01:50I mean, he's not as bad as Tim Tebow.I will say Tim Tebow had the worst-looking ball.Plummer's ball second.Yeah, they like an ugly throwing quarterback, boy.Who's that piece of shit from New England?I swear to fuck.Oh, the coach? They unleashed him on Denver to ruin Denver for eight years.
01:02:11Yeah, piece of shit.Yeah, he did.He fucked him up good.He fucking ruined him for a year.Yeah.This year, looking at everything here, not a stack Cardinal team. No?Those fucking late 90s Cardinals teams.
01:02:27Yeah.decent 500 teams, whatever, nobody...Late 90s, though, so it was like they were starting to...Starting to get better.Figure out how to get good pieces. And then they got three good pieces and then blew it all out. They weren't the punchline they were before that. They were a punchline for you.
01:02:43They weren't the Bengals, you know what I mean, or the Browns. So he's a backup running back here and special teams guy.Garrison Hurst is the starter, so you're not going to...He starts zero games, Pittman does.29 rushes for 91 yards. You know, not much here when it comes to anything receiving. He doesn't do much.Just doesn't play very much for them.
01:03:05He's a rookie backup and a fourth rounder at that.Yeah, yeah, yeah.May 1, 1999 here, Pittman, a dose of extra strength is the headline in the Arizona Republic. And the picture of him is his neck is bigger than his fucking head. His neck goes up toward his head.He was so fucking big. He's a big fuck.He said, in his quest to become the Cardinal's starting running back, Michael Pittman is well armed.
01:03:30The left guard, Chris Dishman said, not only are there not many backs with biceps like that, there aren't many bodybuilders who look like that. There are a lot of people on the planet.No.They're wild. They said Pittman's biceps were plenty big when he was drafted in the fourth round at a Fresno State.Pittman knew, though, that the coaches were going to put him on equal footing with 1,000-yard rusher Adrian Morel.I remember him.So the off-season he prepared for a three-day mini-camp that opened Friday by lifting weights six days a week, at least two hours a day, and chugging protein shakes.
01:04:06Wow.Wow.He returned a big, fast, multi-talented threat to unseat Morrell as the main running back.He said, I'd lift almost to failure. If you eat the right food and get the proper rest, your body can recover.Corey Chavis, the second round guy, who's made a name on cable television as an acute or an astute elevator of talent, took a look at Pittman and said, man, he looks like Superman.I thought his arms were big last year.
01:04:36Superman wasn't that jacked. That was the point of Superman. He didn't have to be jacked.Yeah.I mean, the comic books, they gave him the jacked up shit.He wasn't jacked, though. He wasn't like, yeah, he had fucking veins and shit.He was like whatever, but he wasn't.
01:04:50like fucking bodybuilding. There were some that gave him like veins and shit. When? In the comic books?I don't know.I don't know.I can see it in my head.I'm sure there's comic books maybe in the 80s.
01:05:04Probably in the 80s they probably gave him more muscles because everybody had muscles. But like in the 40s, he wouldn't have been nobody looked like that.So like when it came out and then like the movies, Christopher Reed didn't look like that. No, not much of the old Superman on TV had a beer gut.And the new one, boy, do they have him fucking jacked out.He doesn't have to be.He's fucking Superman. It's all from inside.
01:05:27You don't have to have jacked.Batman's a regular guy.He should be jacked.Right.He's a fucking news reporter.Yeah.He's a regular cat.This guy's a news reporter, though.
01:05:36Superman.Yeah.So he's got to look like a news reporter. So he can't have these jacked arms and be like, yeah, I'm not Superman.I'm just this jacked reporter.Yeah, there were, I mean, there's, there's comic books where he was pretty jacked up.Yeah.I mean, it looks like these are all, none of these are all in the 60s or anything.
01:05:52No, they're probably 80s, I would think. They started Hulk Hoganing him up a little bit.90s probably.Let's he-man up our Superman.Even the new Superman is, it just fucking looks crazy.Weird.Well, Pittman made certain that nobody missed the show at the minicamp. In Friday's no pads workout, he had his jersey sleeves,
01:06:12hiked above his shoulders showing his 19 and a half inch biceps.Veteran fullback Larry Centers. He was a good player, Larry.centers. Good receiver out of the backfield.Real good player. Did not have his jerseyadjusted similarly. He said, that's because I had a gun reductionsurgery, center said, but Michaels
01:06:29are hard to miss. I think he's trying to joke.Cardinals...Reduction surgery. I ate a lot of tacos.Cardinals coach Vince Tobin saidWalter Payton was extremely strong Walter Paytonnow. Overall, the strongest player I've ever seen. But Walter didn't have biceps likeMichaels. Well, no. Neither did
01:06:47he didn't have biceps like Reggie White either.or Bruce Smith, there are a lot of big giant guys like that.Michael has really built himself up.He hasn't seemed to lose anything flexibility-wise.Okay.They said it's the legs, not the arms, that make a running back.Although Pittman did not have his pants hiked up to show off his thighs. He's hardly atrophied there either.
01:07:08On Monday, his lifting was specific to his chest and thighs. On Tuesday, it was back and biceps. On Wednesday, legs. Then for the next three days, the cycle was repeated.he took Sundays off.So he bulked up to230 from 214 last year. And then reported to camp
01:07:26at 224,looking like a very strong guy, apparently, for his next year. They said, there's more to Pittman's gamethan looking good in practice gear. The coaches are putting a relative neophytewhose pro career consists of 29 carries
01:07:41and no pass receptionson equal footing with a six-year veteranwho's rushed for 4,500 yardsbecause Pittman's a powerful runner with punt returner speed, whose forte in college was past receiving. So, yeah, Garrison Hurst left this year,so they brought in Morella, who was what, with the Jets or something before that?
01:07:58I could see his name in green and white, so many of Eagles?Maybe.I thought Jets for some reason, but who knows.Tobin said, I wanted to play Michael Moore last year, then he broke his hand.I told him he's coming in this year on equal basis with the veterans.I really liked the way Adrian played for us,especially down the stretch,
01:08:16take a look at Michael and see how he is, or how good he is.We feel like all of last year that Michael was an excellent young football player. We're pleased with Adrian, but I'm not sure Michael is not going to make a run at that spot.Yeah, so they're talking about that.July 17, 1999, he marries a woman named Melissa. It's all we know. All right. He's married.
01:08:401999 Cardinals, a whopping six and ten.Yeah.under Vince Tobin. This is going to stick for a while.Yeah, it's going to be ugly for a while.David Boston, all these guys, Mario Bates, Jesus Christ. It was so weird, too, because there was so much hype.Every year they did it.
01:09:00Yeah.It was like they wanted to publicize. You know, I mean, they had like a publicist or something. They were like, get out in front of the season and try to, yeah, well, I guess that's the answer.Once the bandwagon comes, you won't be able to get them. You do have to sell.I used to get, that's why I hate it.the Cardinals because every fucking year
01:09:17there's no hype about the Giants and Jetswhere I live. They know peopleare going to show up. People show up.People will be there. Such a weird pathetic thingto be like, this year's the year.Cardinal Buddy Ball when thatwas coming all. Still suck every year.Still suck. They were just tired
01:09:33of having nothing but visitingfans. Come on. Come onour college stadium and siton our metal benches with nobacks when it's 108 outside.Really? No, it's going to be great.Yeah, we start the season.Fucking terrible.
01:09:47Right in the fucking wheelhouse of summer.Death, death weather.Yeah.Summer lasts in Phoenix until after Halloween.Yeah.So, remember they used to not give them home games the first couple weeks of the year, which would then kind of fuck the team over a little bit.But now they've started saying fuck it, well, now they have this stadium.
01:10:06They can do that.Yeah, it's all indoors now.So, yeah. And that's the other thing is that it was the stadium was just full of visiting team fans.Well, it was half full of visiting team fans because it wasn't full ever.Full of that were people. They all wanted to see the other team.I went to see several Giants games there.
01:10:26Dallas Cowboys games were like home games.Oh, God.That's the only time they sold out.Yeah.Maybe if the Packers came, they'd sell it, the Bears maybe, too.Somebody like that. You'd get somebody far.Make them travel deep.
01:10:39Yeah, they were depending on the opposing team to bring the people.here. He's injured MichaelPittman is now inOctober and pretty much everyoneis injured. There's an injury update for the team.Wow. AndreWadsworth, five to seven days with atoe sprain.
01:10:58Jake Plummer, right finger fracturefour to six weeks. LesterHolmes, Michael Pittman, concussiontwo to three days. Oh, fuck. And then a bunch of other people. Two to three days. And a bunch of other people includingSimeon Rice hurt as well.I guess they have a buy week before hosting New England after that.
01:11:17A guy with his toe is out for weeks and this guy, ah, two, three days for something.Never, ever, ever, ever healed.Nope, never just keep. Now put your head down.Lead with it.So November 15th, 1999, Arizona Republic with a great fucking headline, Pittman's play illuminates dreary season.I love that. That's amazing.
01:11:40A wonderful photograph adorns the cover of the Detroit.Lions Media Guide. It's a picture of six defenders gang tackling Michael Pittman, who was contorted andgrimacing in pain.Oh, that sucks.I saw that, Pittman said, breaking into a wide grin. But look how many guys it takes to bring me down. That's fun.
01:12:01Finally, a nice story. An upbeat twist in an ominous season.A much-needed reprieve from what if and what now.In his first NFL start, Pittman burst through holes, raced around corners, racking up133 yards and a legion of new fans.Yeah, that's the other thing, too.If any Cardinal player had a good game, everyone, all the Cardinal fans loved the next.
01:12:22He's the greatest thing in the world. Here we go.There we go, finally.Never losing ever again.Oh, I remember my stepdad who was trying hard to be a Cardinals fan, even though they moved there, being excited.Stony Case is going to do it for us.Stoney Case is going to, it's like, no, he's not.
01:12:37He sucks. That's why he was a third stringer in the beginning of the year.Everybody heard of Stony Case? No, right?quarterback. He's a real stony case.I remember him going,Stony case, he's going to do it.
01:12:49That's the one.God damn it,that team shamelessly advertisedthat kind of shit.He energized a dormant offense, which running backs are known to dowhen they actually run the football.Pittman's debut was more than a success.
01:13:01In fact,he sparked the best Cardinals performanceat Sun Devils Stadiumsince Stanford rolled into townon Saturday.Oh.The big thing was Michael Pittmangiving us a running attack is what Vince Tobin said.
01:13:15Anytime you get something going,it has a way of igniting something else. All right, so he did well.He had big runs.I remember highlights of that game. And that's what they say about every position in the gameis that if it starts kicking off, then they start to guard that,
01:13:34and when they're guarding that, now you have time to throw the ball. That's how it works.Gadget plays, or everything opens up.The playbook just fucking expands. But back then, the problem was they had terrible quarterbacks who couldn't take advantage of that.Dave Brown quarterback.Remember Dave Brown?
01:13:54Remember him and Kent Graham going back and forth?Terrible.Where did he go after that?He was a Giants quarterback. He went to Duke. And then he's a Giants quarterback after Phil Sims and Danny Connell and all these other guys failed. And after we got rid of Hostetler.Yeah.
01:14:10And then Dave Brown sucked.Dave Brown said, I've never seen a guy get through the hole with such a high leg kick going. There's no hand that's going to reach out and knock him down.He kind of reminds me of Roger Craig, which is interesting here.So that's what they're talking about. They said, Pittman said, I've told the offensive line, just give me a half second and I'll get through the hole.I'll run hard for you. That's what I did all game.
01:14:37Just ran hard.Simian Rice described his performance,Pittman's performance,as quote, off the hook in many ways.Yeah.And late in the game,he fumbled the ball,
01:14:50handing the Lions a touchdown. And as the clock winded down,he stood on the sidelines, praying for the defenseto thwart the lion's final drive. So the knock on Pittman has been twofold. He can't stay healthy, and he can't not fumble.
01:15:03Oh.That's how it works. But there we go.That's what he's doing here. He's ready to go.And they said, we're going to see, we're going to give him a chance to see if he can or he can't.The general manager says, quote, this is his time. It's his time to show us.
01:15:20This is his time.Yeah.So they're saying he's hurt and the Cardinals may get him and Wadsworth back for a crucial game. They're six and ten. What game is crucial?Nothing is crucial except for ruining other people's chances.Yeah, that's it.Arizona Republic, though, fucking would pretend like they were in the, it was crazy.
01:15:38crazy. They're in the hunt still.Oh, my God. So they're saying hopefully when he gets back and they're progressing.Mathematically eliminated from the playoffs three weeks ago.Pittman says he wants to play regardless of how sore his left toe is.He said, you can't think about the pain. The pain is there. It's going to stay there. You have to live with it.Makes you feel alive. That's how you know you're alive. Yeah. He says he's about 80% healthy and doesn't know whether he'll startagainst the Redskins. He knows it's important
01:16:11for his long-term futurewith the team to showhe can stay healthy. He said, the coacheswant to see what they have in me.I've been starting for only one game,so there's a lot of pressure on me.I just want to play my game.
01:16:23Fine.Ten games this year starts to,64 rushes, 289 yardsfor 4.5 a carry.So not bad.But too hurt to play a lot.July 23rd, 2000,so training camp,
01:16:38confident and unfamiliar role.He said, I guarantee you that we're going to be ranked 29th again this year, saying thatthe, or we're not going to be.We aren't going to be, yeah. That's not good, Mike.Cardinals rushing offense was 29th in the NFL that season, I think out of 30 teams. And he said, we're not going to be 29th this year.God damn it.
01:17:02That's right. That's going to be up to at least 25th.We're going to get it up there, man.So they said another sign of desperation was for that the first time in five years, the team's number one pick made it to camp on time when Thomas Jones signed a four-year deal.Okay, he was the guy they finally got him in there and then it just wasn't that good.Although Jones has been receiving all the attention, Pittman remains ahead of him on the depth chart.Quarterback Jake Plummer said, I truly believe in Pittman.I think he's the man.
01:17:31But having Thomas there to push him and to have a one-two punch like that, not too many teams have that type of talent at running back.Tons of teams had way better talent at running back than that than two mediocre running backs. That's what you had.I know that Pittman can play and I've yet to see Thomas in a live game, but from what we've seen so far, it should be good. All right.Well, that's great.Cardinals Vince Tobin said, we hope one guy is the guy.Right now, Michael Pittman's our starter.
01:18:01But as camp goes, things change and we'll continue to evaluate them.Oh, man.So they said if someone doesn't make a clear, you know, show of what they can do and show that it's my position, then they're going to have to kind of platoon them for a while here.Pittman said, last year I knew Adrian was the starter.I was always pushing him.All my life, I wanted to be number one.So I ran my hardest and did what I had to do to show I wanted to play.He says, I'm more confident in my abilities now.
01:18:31I know what I can do on the field.I know the coaches believe in me.so I want to go out there and show them what I can do.Well, let's see what the Cardinals can do in 2000.They don't do much because they are 3 and 13 that year.Oh, my God.Very bad, very, very bad. Were they 30th in offense?
01:18:50Not sure.It probably had to be, right?Jesus.Three and 13?That is terrible.Vince Tobin is fired after seven games going 2 and 5,replaced by Dave McGinnis, who goes 1 and 8,so that didn't help very much.
01:19:03He did great. He was their defensive coordinator who they promoted. And that didn't work.God damn it, the quarterback situation is Dave Brown started two games, played in six.Who else do they have here?I know Plummer was hurt, so he was knocked around. He started 14 games, Plummer.Oh, boy.
01:19:23Did not have a good year, obviously, if they were 3 and 13 here.2000 season, August 29, 2000, Jones is going to be the starter.Beats out Pittman.Vince Tobin says,Sometimes you have to go with your gut feeling.Well, your gut feeling got you fired,so I don't know about that. There you go.
01:19:44And Thomas says it doesn't matter.Thomas Jones said it doesn't matter whether you start or not. What matters is at the end of the game, how many yards you have, and how many big plays you have.He said, so starting doesn't matter.Michael Pittman, though, he's got to sit there, and he said he wouldn't hesitate to put him out there at any time.I asked Michael about it here, and Michael said, quote,
01:20:06I was kind of hurt, a little bit disappointed. But what am I supposed to do?I thought I did pretty good in camp.I didn't really get the carries I wanted in the preseason game.In Denver, I had an excellent game. The other games, I didn't get hardly any carries at all.But it's Coach Tobin's decision, and I've got to respect it.That's it.
01:20:26October 9, 2000, Pittman gives and gets inspiration. That's the Arizona Republic.headline. Michael Pittman hasn't lost touch with the innocence of his youth, it says.He often says Cardinals players need to harken back to their Pop Warner days when the game was played for fun to loosen up and not play so tense. He keeps a small statuette given to him by his parents in his locker.A football mounted on a white marble base with the inscription, those who run with purpose reach the goal first. All right. He played a little bit.
01:21:05Not an award, but they went to a trophy shop to get it.It's not an award. It's a very special award he got here.Hilarious.He said, before every game, I hold it and I read it.It's a true statement. If you run with a purpose, if you play with a purpose, you're going to win every time.
01:21:20You will.Except when you're on the Cardinals, because then you're going to win three out of 16 times, much less.Arizona Daily Star is an article inDecember of 2000. Cardinals' most productive player, Pitman spells trouble for foes.Okay.Oh, yeah. Jake Plummer said the only positive thing about our offense now is number 32.
01:21:44We have to find a way to feed off him. That's James?Pitman.Oh, okay.Pitman's 32.Was he 34? I think he was 34.He was 34.He was 32, I think, but not for the Cardinals. He played for like a minute later.
01:21:58I know.Yeah, yeah, yeah.Well, you said it, motherfucker. What do you want for me?Because it's a joke. How am I supposed to know when your lack of football knowledge is a joke?Honestly, how do a human being know that you're kidding when you don't know something? When you get 87% of the sit wrong, now are I supposed to know that that's a joke coming from you.
01:22:19Honestly, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt every time from now on if you want. That sounds to...that does lead to some confusion. That would lead to some massive confusion.Flipper was not a dolphin. You know what I mean? What I don't know. From now on.
01:22:45And what I purposely don't know are very interchangeable.Oh, fucking hell, that's funny.I'm going to assume you know everything.Benefit of the doubt. We're going to sit here until you guess the first pick in the 78 draft, Jimmy. You know it.Just say it.Just name people that played football.
01:23:13Stop saying Edger and James.Oh, God.That's so funny.Oh, that's fun.I love it so much.Christ, he was only there a few years later, though. He was there like, what, 2005?Oh, 4005, yeah.
01:23:30Did he go to the Super Bowl with them?I don't remember. That's a good question.I don't know who the running back was in the Super Bowl year.I don't either. It's a very good question.I'll bet it wasn't him.I'll bet it was, you know.
01:23:44Probably not. They tried with Emmett Smith, too, let him kind of.Yeah. He didn't do a goddamn thing with the Cardinals. That is embarrassing. His run with them, he should have shot himself in the face for that.Like a horse.Let me see.Super Bowl roster.
01:24:04He should be just completely embarrassed about it.Wide receivers running back.Edger and James and Tim High Tower.High Tower. There you go.Yeah. I think Edgerman James was injured.A lot that year, too?Yeah, that's why the cults were...I think Tim Hightower did a lot of the running.
01:24:24J.J. Arrington was there, too.Oh, yeah, that's right.J.J. Arrington. That's crazy. It was Edger and James. That's probably why they went to the Super Bowl, man.It didn't hurt. It's Gerald Bolden, Edron James, and fucking the quarterback...What's his fuck?
01:24:40Kurt Warner?Kurt Warner.Yeah, yeah, yeah.It wasn't a joke.No, it was that.He's in there.This is why the jokes of, that's why they are misleading.I can't stop laughing about that.
01:25:02That is so much of it.Because I did shit like that. And who was the girl that dated the guy that liked Hookers? And she was in Austin Powers? That.Yeah, yeah.Kelly LeBrock. No, not Kelly.
01:25:16Black.Exactly.Liz Hurley.We talked about her.Same girl.Elizabeth Hurley.She's 90s.Kelly LeBrock was to the 80s.
01:25:24Yes.Yes.But James, your penis would totally respond to her.Oh, I love it so much.Oh, boy.So they need number 32 to do well.Only positive. Yeah. That's it.
01:25:38So they talk about how presumably the equipment managers would not make the same mistakes this week.Oh, they misspelled his name. His own equipment manager misspelled it as Pittman with two ends.on his jersey.Oh,fuck.On the jersey? On the jersey?
01:25:53You don't know how to spell the name of your starting running back.Un-fucking real.God,the Cardinals were a terrible organization. That is so...Pathetic.Oh.
01:26:05If I were...If I were Emmett,I would have done it on purpose,played like dog shit.Just for that.That's so fucked up.Dude, I'm telling you,like that,
01:26:13you wouldn't accept that from a beer league softball jersey. You'd be like,no,that's so...So disrespectful. He said hopefully they've got all that straightened out.Yeah.I hope so.
01:26:25Now, Plummer said the next game, I guarantee I'll find a way to get him the ball 30 times. He's going to get 100 yards receiving.I plan on it.Yeah.Jake played the whole game with a B in Plummer.Yeah, he had no idea. It's like, I can't see my back. What do I care?
01:26:43Plus him on mushrooms. That too.Pittman said, it feels good.I appreciate everything the guys are saying. He said, but I want to win games.I'm not here just trying to have fun.I lead by example.I want to show what it takes to win.
01:26:59That's right. So there is that.December 18, 2000, got another head injury, another concussion. So that's a problem. They say seven days he'll be out with a concussion. So it's all good.Does that mean he misses next week's game?Does that seven days start from yesterday?
01:27:18You know what I mean?Monday, December 18th.Yeah, I don't know how.Is that seventh day?Apparently? He played in that game, he played in all 16 games. So he must have played six days off.All better.
01:27:32Started 12, had 719 yards on 184 attempts for 3.9 a carry, which is not great.No, that's very average.I mean, yeah, it's certainly.Certainly that'll keep you employed on a team.that can't find a running back, but...Yep.May 12, 2001, he resigns with the Cardinals.Okay.
01:27:52And they say, Pittman, a millionaire, sort of.That's the headline.Michael Pittman used to be a dream of being a millionaireduring his high school days in San Diego. On Friday, he became one.Quote, well, not really.I won't get all of it because of taxes, he said.He signed a one-year, $1.1.15 million offer.
01:28:14Yeah, he's got $700,000.Yeah. He said, I am fortunate. I'm not a greedy person. Having a million dollars was always a dream. This is more than I've ever had in my life. I'm going to share it with my family. Oh, boy. That's a... Oh, sir, you better be careful. This is not going to last long, is what he's saying. Yeah. After this season, he'll become an unrestricted free agent. He said he'd prefer to stay here. So, you know, you never know. So Pittman, known for having a fullback's power, running back speed, receiver's hand. He said he'd prefer to stay here. So, you know, you never know. So Pittman, known for having a fullback's power, running back speed, receiver's hand.and along shoreman's biceps, saying that he plans to build himself up even more before training camp opens. He said, I'm at 212 pounds now.I'd like to be around 222 going into camp, then play at 218.All right. So Dave McGinnis, the coach, said that he looks real good.
01:29:08And he's making some good moves out there and breaking tackles and shit.So he likes him.Whitman said there was a different attitude here this week, a positive attitude.By the way, their running game ranked 27th in the NFL.So he was right. It wasn't 29.It was 27th.He said, there's going to be an emphasis on running the ball.
01:29:30That's exciting for me.We picked up a left guard and free agency, and we have Leonard Davis, the right guard, the big giant guy.We have high expectations for this offense.Last year, it was finesse in the West Coast offense. Now we're going to be a physical team that comes out and hits you.Fuck.Hey, spoiler alert, that didn't work either for the Cardinals. No, it didn't.
01:29:51Nope.Then.Other teams can hit back.Yeah, they're allowed to hit back, unfortunately.June 12th, my birthday, 2001, former Bulldog Pittman arrested in the Fresno B there. Here we go.Arizona Cardinals running back.Michael Pittman was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge after an alleged argument with his estranged wife.
01:30:14Oh, God, he loves to yell at women.Fucking A, man, what is it with this? There's guys who start fights in bars, and there's guys who start fights with their wife. And sometimes they cross, but a lot of times those are two separate people.Yeah, sometimes they start fighting with the wife in a bar.In the bar.And allow other people to get involved. That's wild.
01:30:33It's so nuts. That's wild. The argument began after the former Fresno State Standout arrived at his wife's suburban Tempe apartment to attendant to attend their one-year-oldson to attend to their one-year-old son while she ran errands. The two began to argue, and Pittman's wife asked him to leave.Pittman then took a computer and other belongings from the apartment.I'll leave, but I'm taking his Dell with me.I bought this.
01:30:59Taking his HP to my car, bitch. My compact prosario now.God damn it.The couple who are separated went outside where the dispute intensified.Perfect.And Pittman's wife called police. When police arrived, Pittman was pounding on his wife's car, but there wasn't any physical contact between the two.You can't do that either.
01:31:22Can't punch her car.No.Pittman was arraigned in Tempe Municipal Court and released on his own recognizance.Yeah.And...We're calling that domestic violence, too, right? When people punch things and not people?I guess when they can't...
01:31:38Because you can't handle your rage?Yeah, I don't consider that.I get that that's a...People always say that's a precursor or whatever.Certainly.I don't.If you punch a door because someone's behind it that you want to get to, that's violence. If you go out to somewhere in your woodshed and you punch something, that is how you get your fucking aggression out without doing it to people.
01:32:01And I think that's healthy. If you go out the woodshed and nobody's around. But if in the middle of an argument. If you punch next to their head or so, obviously, that's a trying to intimidate them.Yeah.In the in the same room that they're in.you just like turn around and punch the wall. That's so fucking just immature trash.
01:32:19Yeah, it's more trash than it is.I don't know.I think when you take it to the point of everything's domestic violence, that's when people go, well, then nothing's domestic violence. And then they don't take it seriously. So if you start saying, he didn't touch me, but it's still domestic violence, then you've lost the plot at that point. The house full of holes is fucking.
01:32:41That's a terrible sign.It's so gross.That's a bad sign.So anyway, yeah, this is still not good.And when you're punching on their car,so there's obviously this is a stand-in for you or some shit.Like, that's a different story.I completely think that's a different story.
01:32:57Is she in the car or not in the car? That's what I'm trying to find out here.Because if he's punching the car, she's not in it.That's also, like, a way to show others when she's out in that car that he's around still. And it's a possessiveness thing.Like, this is, like, everything's mine. There's something to that of a control thing.Yeah.
01:33:15Sure.I'm not saying it's good.I'm just saying when you put the label domestic violence, it's very, that's a hard label. You know what I mean? And it should be.That's like, you know, kid toucher or something. It's bad.So you can't lump shit in because it cheap is that.
01:33:32It's very indicative of what you're capable and willing to do.Exactly.So Pittman was arraigned and they said most likely he'll have to go to.to anger management classes. That's what the police spokesman said.If he completes the program successfully, the charge will probably be dropped.Dave McGinnis,
01:33:50the head coach, said,I'm very concerned about all the personsinvolved in the incident. It's extremely important to methat it's handled up frontin a very straightforward manner. All right.
01:34:00So June 13th, 2001,here,Arizona's Pittman and Bates is arrested. So they're talking about Mario Bateswas all.also arrested the same day for argument with a woman.Same shit. What?
01:34:15Fighting with his girlfriend. What is the deal? Those are two of their three or four running backs. Both get arrested for the same thing in the same day, which is fucking crazy.Yeah, apparently his girlfriend or wife told police that Bates slapped her left cheek, punched her, then packed clothes and left. And this was after already being arrested in March of 2000 for slapping the same.woman and being sentenced to two years of probation.Jesus.
01:34:44Now, Pittman agreed to enter an adult diversion program when he appeared before a Tempejudge, so he must undergo counseling and nine-month anger management program, and thencharges can be waived after that. So, Pittman was contrite when he arrived for a voluntary camp with the Cardinals.June 22nd, 2001, the Arizona Republic says Pittman may be punished by NFL.Oh, the NFL is going to say something about it, that the Cardinals won't.This is when they were just starting to wake to, hey, our guys are huge and they punch their wives sometimes. So, yeah, they said that, you know, he's fine with the law and he's fine with the team, but that doesn't mean the league might, you know, not want to fuck with him here.
01:35:28Speaking of domestic violence, right under that, the ads, Jimmy, the sales, Jason Kid Basketball Camp.Come on down. He'll show you how to throw a good left hook at your wrong.wife, no problem.Directed by Bill Frieder.Oh, that's the old ASU guy.The old ASU coach, yeah.Camps for boys and girls.
01:35:47That was like the most fun rivalry for a minute because it was like ASU's coach was justthis little bridge troll with a giant nose. The rivalry between Frieder and Lou D'Alson was like not even, it looked like trailerpark versus the rich kids.because Lute looked like a professional basketball coachAnd Frater looked like a wilyA wild-eyed crazy manYeah
01:36:17ApparentlyDidn't make you want to root for ASU at allNo and apparently it didn'tIt didn't help ASU eitherBecause Lute won national championshipsAnd ASU hasn't won a goddamn thing in basketballThey're terribleFreeter I don't think had any really good prospects
01:36:34When he was therebut Lou had all kinds of people.I think Eddie House was his main guy, wasn't he?I think Eddie House was not with Frieder.I think Freeder was gone before that.Okay, you might be right. You might be right. You probably paid attention to it more than I did.
01:36:49Then again, though, you know what?Benefit of the doubt. You're right. You're going to benefit of the doubt. He was gone?Don't you go betting on me?That's the law now.Oh, man.
01:37:01Yeah, Bill Frieder left in97. So yeah, he wouldn't have been there. No, that wouldn't have been later, yeah. Now, June 25th, 2001.So this is, he's already been arrested and been to court and it's all squashed. He's arrested again.Oh, shit. This is insane, dude.
01:37:22Been arrested for the second time this month after another dispute with his estranged wife.Hey, stupid.Have someone else pick the kid up, you fucking idiot.Police said Pittman was taken into custody a late Saturday night on charges of domestic violence, criminal damage and trespassing and was released early Saturday. It's the same story every time.He broke a glass door to enter his wife's apartment but did not assault his wife. That is violence to me.You're trying to keep him out and he breaks a glass door to get in.
01:37:54That's a different thing. And did he break the glass or did he like remove it from the?track. You know what I mean? There's like a lot of different ways you can break a door. But if heshattered a fucking glass door. That is insane. Yeah. That's fucking insane. So the Cardinal said he couldface disciplinary action. I guess so from the NFL they're talking about though. The team saidit was requiring Pittman to seek counseling in addition to whatever the court orders.Coach Dave McGinnis saidPitman's been excused
01:38:27from all remaining off-season football-related activitiesfor the time being. He says, quote,Michael Pittman has far bigger issuesin his life right now than football.Misconduct on the part of our players is unacceptable.I'm furious Michael put himself back into a positionthat ended up in his arrest last night.
01:38:45Two weeks ago, Michael, eye-to-eye,assured me he would take care of his personal business.Clearly, he has not.He did not.I would say not.So apparently, yeah, this time it was a little different. They're not divorced. They're just separated.
01:39:02So police said there was no physical contact there. So this is multiple times.Basically, he smashed a sliding glass door after seeing his wife with another man leading to a confrontation. So it's criminal trespass, criminal damage and domestic violence charges.Criminal jealousy. It's criminal dickbag jealousy.Yeah.And also, you play in the NFL.
01:39:26Like, grow up and go throw dick. You should be able to, you should be so easy. How many times a week are you at the strip club? And you're going to fucking sit here and be like, well, I can't have her with another guy. He's cheated on her.I guarantee it.Oh, God, hundreds of times.Yes.
01:39:43Not thousands. What the fuck is he so worried about? So July 27, 2001, he is going to be suspended for one game.by the NFL.And he was sentenced to, you, sir, may fuck off five days in jail.God, Jesus. So he's like, yeah, I won't be there for that game anyway.I'll be in jail for a minute there.
01:40:04Early 2000s and the NFL and the Arizona Cardinals and just Arizona in general. He's never going to get a steep sentence for domestic violence. It's not going to happen. It's all about, yeah, there's trash times there.Yeah.So he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass and criminal damage. They dropped the other thing there. So anyway, he is, he's been arrested multiple times, and he's also fined $500 in sentence to three years of probation in order to undergo counseling.
01:40:36He was given credit for two days already served in jail and must serve the other three days within 60 days of the sentence. He called the punishment fair.Yeah, he said, I think it was fair.Whatever punishment I was going to have, I wouldn't have complained at all.I put myself in the situation, and these are the consequences I have to take.If it was a two-game suspension, I wouldn't have complained at all.Things could have been a lot worse.Yeah, I would say.
01:41:05Fucking, God damn it.He said, I don't plan on messing up at all anymore.I was totally out of line, and I've been going to counseling ever since that second incident. So, all set now. What is he now? He's good.good.Absolutely good.
01:41:202001 Cardinals, not so good.Seven and nine, again, highly mediocre teamunder Dave McGinnis again. And again, this is one of those
01:41:31just not real great teams. They did havegrammatica, didn't Gramaticafucking blow his kneeout celebrating something?Yes.That was a lot of fun.
01:41:41Was it grammaticaor was it thethat SpanishGruhalvaor Grajav.Oh, I don't remember now.I thought it was grammatica for some reason. It feels like it was grammatica, but it could have been Grhalva.
01:41:56September 7th, 2001.Hey, my first child's birthday there. That was when Madison was born right then.September 7th, 2001.I was tired that day.Pittman will miss practice to go to jail. That's nice. They got to do some jail.
01:42:13He said, it's going to be very, very tough watching that game on TV if I even watch it.He also said he and his wife have reconciled.Oh, my God.Not only if they worked out their problems, they're back together and, quote, everything's going great.Reconciled.You're in the cycle, man. That's a great way to put it.
01:42:33So he's eager to get back to work after riding out his suspension. And he says, hopefully I can make a big difference on this team here.Wow.Their first game that he had to sit out was a blowout loss to Denver. And yeah, Jake Plummer said he's a guy who makes plays. You bet. That's it.When there's a chance to play, you have to make it.
01:42:56He's a guy who whenever he gets a chance, he's taken full advantage of it, so it'll be nice to have him out there. And he said, it's been very tough seeing my teammates out here without me.I was about to eat, but I lost my appetite. It's something I never want to experience again, and I won't experience it again.Words cannot speak how disappointed I was.Oh, great.Yep.He said it's where I'm back together.
01:43:18with the wife, everything's great,things are going wonderful.So don't worry about it.November 4th, 2001,another concussion.Oh.Another concussion.Documented.
01:43:30These are three documented concussions that we have. There are so many ding-upsback then that are totallydifferent things. Sothey say they rise and fall with the up and downplay of Jake Plummer. The cardshave pretty good skill players, though Pittman has a concussion.
01:43:47So there we go.November 21st, 2001, pitfalls of pain is the headline.Yeah?Yeah.Michael Pittman was lying on the floor on his stomach one Monday evening this seasonwhen his one-year-old son Micah ran up and jumped on his back.Oh, shit.Yeah, that's a bad one.
01:44:07He said he hadn't seen me all day, so I know he was playing with me, but I had to hold him off to the side.I'm like, Mike, you can't be jumping up on daddy right now.So they call Mike a Mike and there's Michael Pibman Jr.Which one's Mike? What the fuck?He calls them. The fucking narcissism to name two kids after yourself is remarkable. There's three mics in this house.
01:44:30We can't do that. You can't do it.It's not fucking happening.I'll give George Foreman it because he got punched in the head a lot.But this guy is, hasn't been hitting the head or not.Now said, there's only one mic. What the fuck, man? You're not allowed to have more than one mic.
01:44:45God damn it.No more mics.sports new rule. No more than one mic. One mic only. He said, I was like, Mike can't be jumping ondaddy right now. He said, there's no describing it. He said Mondays and Tuesdays, there's no describing it.You have to go through it. You feel 90 years old. You get up and the bones are cracking. You'rejust aching and there's scratches and scars all over your body. It pays well, but it's a rough living.Yeah. Yeah. Playing an NFL game has been likened to a car wreck, except an NFL linebackernamed Rob Fredrickson said, I've been in a few car wrecks and actually felt better after the car wrecks.
01:45:20You could be dead. That's a different thing.Pitman has lost.Fender benders are a little different than the fucking NFL, man.Did you roll over eight times? Then we'll talk about it.So Pittman has already lost normal use of one of his pinky fingers because of football. He said, I'm concerned whether I'll be able to walk normal.
01:45:40I think, how am I going to be when I'm 50 years old?Are my knees going to be working right? Will my memory be okay?No and no, probably.I'm impressed that you're thinking. You're thinking, that's good. This game is violent. It takes a toll.
01:45:53He said, you know, but again, the money's good. That's what it is.And so you've got to do it.People have done work.People go in fucking coal mines for money.Oh, yeah. And for way less money. You've got to do what you got to do.
01:46:04So 15 games played, 14 started, 241 rushes the most of his career,846 yards for three and a half per car.Oh, boy.Which means either he sucks or their offensive line is atrocious, one of the two, because that is terrible.Yeah, it's probably a coupling.Yeah, a little column A, little column B here.Certainly, yeah.March 26th, 2002, he's a free agent now, and the Tampa Bay Bucks signed Michael Pittman to a five-year contract.
01:46:35That's right.Yep.Very interesting.Five years, huh?Five-year contract.That's great.April 7.Oh, he's doing crazy.
01:46:45He's good now, too.Tampa Bay Times has a big article,Running from the Past.Wow.Bucks Michael Pittman says he's not a woman abuserdespite previous alleged incidents. Not alleged.Despite guilty.
01:46:58Besides pleading guilty to it multiple fucking times.Tampa Bay loves domestic violence so much they import it.They import it.They're like, God damn, we don't have enough guyshitting their wives here.I've seen a few of your, I've seen a few bruises on your wives.I'd like to see a couple more black eyes, maybe a split lip or two, guys.Come on, let's get in here.
01:47:17Which running backs are available this off season?Oh, no shit.Damn.That guy loves punching women.God damn.Does everyone have a wife with at least one slash tire?Is that at least?Okay, good.
01:47:28We've got to make sure.Something put the pressure on him.You say, Pitman? Is that the guy that beat up the sob, too?I think so.He signed a five-year $8.75 million dollar contract.God damn.and he said,
01:47:43everyone hears the term domestic violenceand they think I beat up my wife.He said that wasn't.That wasn't the kid.Everybody.Crazy, huh, man?Everyone hears there's a fucking buffetand they think you're going to show up and eat.
01:47:57It's weird.Okay.So that wasn't the case.We had an argument and I kicked my car.It was my car and I got arrested for that. The second time I kicked down a door. You kicked a broke a glass door, dude. That's way different to kicking.
01:48:13And that's crazy.Even a regular door.That's crazy.You kick a door down.What are you?In the SWAT team?The fuck out of here.People hear the stories, though, and they think I'm a woman abuser.
01:48:22And that's not the case.Believe me, I got out of hand, but I didn't know if you kick your own car.You can get arrested for that in Arizona.I was in the wrong. But I understand there will be people out here who are going to judge me as an abuser and not know the facts really.I'm a good guy.Yeah.I'm a good guy.
01:48:43I love a good guy. I love a beautiful to say that. The general manager, Rich McKay of the Buccaneers, said, we thought about it before we brought Michael in.We did the background check and we felt necessary that we felt necessary from a police and league standpoint. We knew once we went down the path, we were going to get some articles about why this and why that.I know the facts that we know.I know he's been through the counseling side of things.I know what people in Arizona say about him.I feel comfortable about Michael.
01:49:13Yeah.Coach John Gruden said,we're very concerned about all of our players off the field, but at the same time,we've investigated this matter very comprehensively, and we feel that Michael Pittman is a good man. What's out there for the public is not always 100% factual.I believe this young guy is a good guy,
01:49:31and we'll have a bright future. He deserves a chance not to live in the past, but in his future, and we're going to help him every waywe can to flourish in Tampa Bay, and I'm sure our fans will do the same.John Gruden said flourish. Good Lord. It's going to flourish down here. Wow. Flourish. So they say, does Pittman have a problem? Well, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of allthe shit we talked about here and all this, but Pittman said, I underwent the counseling
01:50:00to try to help myself, and it was a very good experience. Okay. I said, I'm off probation. He was encouraged to submit. He's on probation. He's encouraged to submit the plea by his Fresno State head coach. So why don't you just get this over with here?So now, way back in 1994, remember that incident that he had? There's some more information about that. They said, although Bob Freed, the Fresno assistant district attorney was familiar with the incident,
01:50:32the case was not referred to the county's district attorney's office, they said.according to the report, in response to being slapped and pushed by the woman,Pittman tackled her, pushed her head into a brick wall, grabbed her around the neck, and pushed her over a bench.Over, like, the, is this outside?Apparently, there's a brick wall there.I mean, there could be a brick wall in the house, in the dorm, but that's crazy. And then over a bench, this is, this has got to be outdoors to, like, tackle her.
01:51:04How to, what a, what a, fuck. She put her head in a brick wall, grabbed her on the neck.He was fucking ragdolling her, dude. This is crazy.Pittman said those reports are also false, and his parents were in the room and the alleged incident occurred.Everything's false, got it.It's all false. He said he had a broken collarbone at the time, and his shoulder was in a sling, so he couldn't have tackled her.
01:51:26He said that he prompted the police to not, he said, that prompted the police to not pursue the case.He said, I don't have any question that you can draw certain conclusions. This is McKay, the general manager. But what I can say is that when you're in our business, when you're an employer, you have to give that perspective employee a chance.Do you?And the way you give them a chance is to do as much research as you can.And if you're comfortable with it, then don't worry about what the fallout will be.Wow.
01:51:54Okay, fine. They were really good at that point. So they were really, you know, really up for anything, really, I think, at this point. So it's he can why don't why doesn't why doesn't a cop believe that a football player with one arm one arm tied behind his back can't fucking tackle a woman who doesn't play in the NFL?Who isn't two hundred thirty pounds?I bet she's real small probably right most football player.I've never seen a football player really not a lot of them that have like a wife that goes 270 normally or girlfriends. They're usually pretty swell.
01:52:31I'll bet there's a cup.I'll bet that Asia Wilson could tie one arm behind her back and still score on me.I think she could.Probably on both of us, for that matter.I think on the two of us together. But if she tied one hand, I might be able to score too.Yeah.I'll definitely, I'll probably tackle her.
01:52:50I'll tell you that much. And she's big.I'll still tackle her.But if she was 5'2, a buck 15, it would be really easy to tackle her.McKay said we've always tried to use the same approach, which is character is an issue coming in the door. That won't change. You just, what are you talking? You sign a guy with clearly bad character, then go, character's always the most important thing.
01:53:14And that's not going to change, even though we've just done the opposite of what we said.Character above all on this football team.No.Gruden said, I'm not the most tolerant person alive either. What? What? Easy with that sentence.Calm down. He's saying that it would be naive to believe he's more tolerant than Tony Dungy with players fucking up.
01:53:39That's what he's talking about in context.I believe in discipline and conformity in all those things. But I also believe in getting the facts, doing the research. There's something from their PR that said, you've got to say you did the research.Every single one of these people has repeated how much research they did.Yeah.You read a bunch of police reports and then signed the guy anyway. That's what you did.
01:54:02Portray that you know fact and use the word tolerant.Yeah, to say tolerant. He said sometimes you can be more tolerant of some people. No two cases are ever the same.I don't know that that.Every one of his cases are exactly the same.He always beats up an inanimate object and chokes a woman.Or chokes a woman.
01:54:26Yeah, it goes that. He knows not to punch them anyway. That's helpful.Right.But still, Jesus Christ.Pittman said, even the report about, you know, remember beating up his girlfriend in the car.He said, that's also a report is false. That's totally false.Okay.He said, quote, there was this cop car and he was following us.It's almost like, what happened was.
01:54:47Yeah.There was this cop car, right?Yeah. It sounds like a five-year-old who's telling you a story.Yeah.There was this cop car.And guess what?following us and guess what? He was still back there when I looked and then like she came over
01:55:00and she said don't do that and then and then you know what happened? You know what happened? You know what happened? You know what happened? Hey, I like Bubbolicious. Do you like Bubbolicious?Like, huh? And he said they were following us and we were turning the corner and he said he saw me slammingher head. Well, there should have been some scars or bruises. She was bleeding and had scratches. What are youtalking about.Scars don't show up right away.No.I'll take a little bit.
01:55:28A little tiny bit.But he made me get out of the car at gunpoint and made me kneel down in the road.I personally think it was a racist thing.Oh, sir.Dude.I would like to...That's the same as saying something that isn't domestic violence, isn't domestic violence. It cheapens it.
01:55:45This is the same thing.Cheapens it tremendously.Fuck, are you...He pulled a bloody woman out of the car.Yeah.Yes.You're getting put down on the ground. What the fuck?
01:55:55You're getting out what color anybody is in that case.Yeah.I'm not saying cops can't be racist.Yeah.Yeah.It's not a matter of cops aren't racist, but this is, this is warranted. There's certainly some of that there, but.Yeah, this seems warranted out.
01:56:07Statistics alone, but you have to get out of the car at gunpoint if your girl is bleedingand your hands are on her. They saw you doing something to her.Yeah.They're going to take, especially if you're a huge guy, you're getting taken out of gunpoint.2002 Buccaneers very quickly here. We're going to wrap this up for this episode. We're going to have a part two here.
01:56:2612 and 4 they are.Yeah.This is Gruden got real fucking lucky.Oh, yeah. This is crushed the Niners in the divisional round 31 to 6, beat the Eagles in the championship game, 2710.And then fucking Barrett Robbins didn't show up for the Raiders.Their starting center, which was a problem.Michael Pittman has a fucking Super Bowl ring.
01:56:48He's wearing a ring, babe. You got it.Oh, baby, you better duck when he throws blows now.Now he's got a big chunky one on there and take your head off.Jesus Christ.48-21 against the Raiders. That was a boring, boring, boring game. And it was like, Dilfer's throwing bombs too.
01:57:05Didn't matter. It was such a boring game.Just opening up the field. It was crazy. It was such a fucking boring game.Mike Allstott and Ronde Barber and there's a lot of great players.Derek Brooks and fucking Warren Sapp and Kishon Johnson.I forgot about him.
01:57:20Trent Dilfer.Trent Dilfer. They also had Rob Johnson. Was it Dilfer for them?Or was he with the Ravens then? No, he's not on this team.No.This is the...
01:57:31Jesus Christ. This is way worse. It's way worse.Brad Johnson?Brad Johnson. With the neck.Remember him with the long neck from the Vikings?Brad Johnson.
01:57:43Is that right?Yes, it is.Brad Johnson has a Super Bowl ring.He started 13 games that year. That's who was opening up the field, not Trent Daufer. And the backup was Rob Johnson, the Bill's bust quarterback.Oh, Christ.Johnson and Johnson?
01:58:00I think he lost his job to Doug Flutie, who was like eight feet tall, or three feet tall and 47 years old.I think he lost his job to him.Yeah.That tells you a lot about him.John Lynch. This is a loaded team here.So July 30th, 2002, though, going into this season, Pitman Ingers ankle on first day.He comes in and immediately hurts himself.
01:58:24No!He said it's really sore, but it's not severe.I'll be back maybe like in a week.I'm going to maybe try and practice on Tuesday. It won't be 100% and they probably won't want me to rush it,but I'll be out there. It's the first day I've been waiting for this for so long,so it's so disappointing.
01:58:42Sure.Absolutely.So we will end it there and pick up next week again.Super Bowl champ now injured.Well, he was not a Super Bowl champ yet when he was injured. This is the beginning of the Super Bowl season. So let's see how much he contributes to this.Because this was Mike All-Stat running a whole bunch.
01:59:03Warwick Dunn still on this team, I believe.Yes, and was Sapp there too at this time?Oh, Sapp was definitely there, yeah.Yeah, he definitely has a ring.Sampiomion Rice was there.Who was it?Simion Rice was on this team.Started all 16 games.
01:59:17Yeah.Yeah, who were you just asking about?Warwick Dunn?Work done, work done.Let me look at the roster.I believe he was on this team.He had to be.No, he wasn't.
01:59:26No, gone by that.Who's the other running back?Is it Pittman?Mike Allstott ran a lot.Mike Alstott and Pittman are the two running backs. They're two of them.Yeah, who else we got here?Jamil Cook's a fullback.
01:59:38That's not it.That's Allstott's position, so no.No, he's a backup, wide receiver, wide receiver, wide receiver.Pitman and Allstot starters for the Super Bowl.Michael Pittman.Yeah, that's it.Travis Stevens, who didn't play.Aaron Stecker, who barely played.
01:59:55What the fuck?Special teamers, man. That's who they had.So we will find out what goes on and what kind of year he has and how much more he'll get arrested because it's not over yet.Yeah.We'll find out that next week here on Michael Pittman Part 2.We should be able to wrap this up next week. That'll be fun stuff.
