Crime stories Nicole Parton explains.
Nancy, the three-month-old infant from California has suffered a serious brain injury and a ruptured pupil
after being allegedly shaken by his babysitter.
this according to the Madeira County Sheriff's Office. They said they received a call for a medical
assistance regarding an unresponsive baby. Baby Braxton was quickly transported to a nearby hospital
where he underwent emergency surgery due to significant head trauma. Following an extensive
investigation, 50-year-old Tanya Hamilton, a caregiver who is not related to the family, was
arrested and charged with felony child abuse, as stated by the sheriff's office.
The boy's parents endured a six-hour wait while their son was in surgery, and they were devastated by the news delivered by the medical team afterward.
They described their disbelief and heartbreak over what has happened to Braxton.
They said in part he is currently missing the entire right side of his skull.
We are uncertain if he will return home with a skull or without one.
Braxton is expected to face a lifetime of challenges, including potential neurological issues, seizures,
vision impairments, the need for physical therapy, multiple surgeries, and specialized medical
equipment, and ongoing health care support. The babysitter was arrested. She has since posted
bond, but we'll be back in court to face the charges. Nicole, thank you. The victim's family has
to go find me. Support Braxton's fight for recovery. More crime and justice news after this.
A 10-year-old girl is in critical condition following a shooting.
that happened during a road rage incident on her way to school in Texas.
The girl, Alyssa Gates, was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries
after being shot through the side of her family's car in San Antonio.
The incident began when the suspect Brian Arceo allegedly exited a driveway in a reckless manner,
prompting another driver to honk at him.
In retaliation, the man fired his weapon into the Gates vehicle striking young Alicia
in the back seat while two other adults were in the car unharmed.
In the aftermath, Jason Gates recounted to a local news outlet that he and his wife
detected the smell of gunpowder.
They turned to check on their daughter, and his wife asked, did you get shot?
The little girl replied, no.
Jason said he opened the back door to check on his child.
He discovered she had indeed been shot and was bleeding.
I told my wife, just pull over.
She kept trying to drive to the hospital, but they stopped in a parking lot to call for
help. Within moments, their daughter was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical help. They spotted the
suspect's car and quickly documented the license plate along with the description of the driver.
Following the incident, law enforcement initiated a multi-unit response to arrest the shooter.
Police later arrested the man. He was taken to the Bexar County Adult Detention Center where he faces three
counts of aggravated assault and one count of endangering a child. His ex-wife and young daughter,
were in the car with him at the time of the shooting.
