Michelle Peters, 47, grabs a Mountain Dew for her husband from the garage fridge and she adds a little Roundup weed killer before she gives it to him. Why? She's angry her husband never said thank you for the 50th birthday party she threw for him. The husband becomes sick after drinking

Nancy Peters' husband had sore throat, diarrhea, nausea, and coughed up thick brown mucus as a result of the poisoning. Peters admits she poisoned the drinks to be mean because her husband did not seem appreciative of her birthday efforts. Peters' husband believes his wife poisoned him in the hopes of cashing in on his $500,000 life insurance policy. Michelle Peters now charged with domestic assault and armed criminal action. Now with the latest crime and justice breaking news, Crime Online's John Limley. We begin in Arizona, where just days after reporting his wife missing, Daniel Padakowski has confessed to her murder. For the latest, we bring in Sydney Sumner of Crime Online.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Daniel Padakowski has now pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and several other charges, including tampering with evidence and possession of dangerous drugs. Authorities say Patakowski's plea is part of a deal with prosecutors in Coconino County. The plea agreement was reached earlier in the day, shortly before Flagstaff Police held a news conference. Flagstaff Police Chief Sean Connolly noted the rapid progression of the case, highlighting the short time since Kelly Patakowski was first reported missing. The details surrounding the motive for the killing remain unclear as the plea agreement did not provide any indication. However, Senior Attorney Michael Tunick from the Coconino County Attorney's
Starting point is 00:02:19 Office stated that the 58-year-old Daniel Patakowski is expected to receive a 16-year prison sentence without the possibility of parole. The case began when Patakowski called Flagstaff police on the night of June 30, claiming his wife had not returned from a run and swim at Lake Mary. Suspicion quickly turned towards Patakowski himself after Kelly's relatives discovered her car across town. By the next morning, the missing person case had escalated to a homicide investigation, ultimately leading to Padakowski's arrest. As part of his plea deal, Padakowski provided critical information about the location of his wife's remains and other evidence, including her cell phone, car keys, and the weapon used in the crime.
Starting point is 00:02:58 Friday morning, Flagstaff Police recovered Kelly Padakowski's remains, though they have not disclosed the location due to ongoing recovery efforts. Daniel Padakowski's sentencing is set for September 10th. A New Jersey man accused of killing three people and injuring eight others by driving his pickup truck through a Fourth of July celebration in Manhattan has been ordered held without bail. Once again, Crime Online's Sydney Sumner. New York prosecutors announced the decision as 44-year-old Daniel Hyden of Monmouth, New Jersey, was arraigned in Manhattan criminal court.
Starting point is 00:03:32 He faces multiple charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide, assault, manslaughter, and driving while intoxicated. This according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Thursday, just before the start of the Macy's Fireworks show. New York City police reported that Hyden was speeding through Manhattan's Lower East Side in his Ford F-150 pickup when he ran a stop sign and drove onto the sidewalk, crashing into Corlears Hook Park. Officers found Hyden's truck
Starting point is 00:04:00 on top of four victims. The three people killed were identified as 59-year-old Lucille Pinkney, her 38-year-old son Hernan Pinkney, and 43-year-old Anna Morrell. Among the injured were an 11-year-old boy, an 18-year-old woman, and several individuals in their 30s, all of whom were taken to local hospitals. Daniel Hyden's next court appearance is scheduled for July 10th. Thanks, John. Elsie Wigington calls a friend asking for help to escape her abusive husband. They make plans for Elsie to move from Virginia to Maryland for a fresh start. That's on Friday. Sunday, one of Elsie's adult daughters calls mom for a recipe. Elsie doesn't pick up. Hours later, she texts the recipe and there's no indication anything's wrong.
Starting point is 00:04:47 Monday morning, Elsie doesn't show up to work. 3.30 that afternoon, her husband reports her missing. He says Eli saw her at home the night before wearing PJs and packing. Her cell phone and beloved dog left behind. Family says even if Elsie wanted to hide from her husband, she would have let her two daughters know where she was going.
