We begin with news from our friends at the Associated Press who report that the suspect
in a Colorado Springs gay nightclub shooting accepted a plea deal to murder and hate crime charges.
That's right, John. Anderson Lee Aldrich has pleaded guilty to five counts of
murder in the first degree, 46 counts of attempted murder in the first degree. There was also a plea
of no contest to two bias-motivated crimes. Aldrich will receive five consecutive life sentences
without the possibility for parole on the murder charges. Aldridge will also receive 46 consecutive 48-year sentences
for the attempted murder counts, followed by mandatory periods of parole.
The suspect's plea comes seven months after the shooting
and spares the victim's families and survivors
a long and potentially emotionally painful trial.
Aldridge declined to address the court before his sentencing.
The attack left five people dead and 17 injured.
Following a series of jailhouse phone calls from 23-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich to the AP
professing regret and the determination to face the punishment,
the Israeli military has announced that it will not press charges against soldiers
for their role in the death of a 78-year-old Palestinian-American
killed after being taken from a car, shackled, and blindfolded
following a stop at an impromptu checkpoint the previous year.
Because military investigators were unable to establish a direct causal connection between the soldiers' acts and the death of American citizen Omar Assad, the Army says the troops will not be prosecuted.
It stated that the soldiers will only experience disciplinary action.
According to the military, two commanders will be fired and prohibited for two years from holding top military positions. The
Army also says that one of the commanders will be, quote, reprimanded without going into further
detail. An Ohio dad accused of killing his three young sons has been indicted by a grand jury.
If found guilty, he could be sentenced to death. According to court records from Claremont County,

everyone in her family. Let's listen. She says that her stepfather is killing everybody in her
house. You say how or what was I asked I asked her to get in the car with me and she said she couldn't leave her family.
But I think she ran to the fire department.
So she went to the fire station? What did she look like?
She's probably a young teenager, probably like 16, maybe, with long blonde hair.
And she has a black dog.
Did she say anything about a baby?
I don't know about no baby.
She said she just couldn't leave her family.
The sheriff's office says the 34-year-old unidentified mother was shot in the hand outside the home
