Crime Alert, I'm Nancy Grace.
Breaking crime news now.
Amy Hoag stops by her ex-boyfriend Tony Charbonneau's home to collect her belongings.
His new girlfriend, Brandi Luffy, antagonizes Amy and an argument breaks out.
Charbonneau then attacks Amy Hoag, punching and stomping on her. When Amy regains
consciousness, she finds herself tied to a wheelchair and Charbonneau and Luffy gathering
shovels, tarps, a pickaxe, and a gun. The two ghouls then drive Amy to a remote location and she's forced to watch them dig her grave before Charbonneau
shoots Hogue and buries her body. Nancy Hogue was reported missing by family members around
the time of the attack and police found her purse on the shore of a river about a month later.
At that point, investigators shifted their missing persons case to a homicide. Charbonneau was
immediately a suspect due to a history of abusing Hogue. Girlfriend Brandy Luffy eventually admits to the crime
implicating Charbonneau. Tony Charbonneau, 36, and Brandy Luffy, 40, now charged with
kidnap and murder. A golf cart used to simulate drunk driving does the job a little too well
at Wildwood, New Jersey's Police National
Night Out. Officers set up a driving course at the event and offer attendees a chance to
navigate the course on a golf cart while wearing drunk goggles that replicate intoxication over
the legal limit. During his run, a teen veers off the course and takes down four adults and a child
with the golf cart. Thankfully, no one seriously injured, but it's safe to say the teen will never
drive, quote, drunk, end quote, again. More crime and justice news after this.
Now with the latest crime and justice breaking news, Crime Online's John Limley.
We begin in Nevada with a former professional football player being sentenced to prison
for his role in the death of his girlfriend's five-year-old daughter in 2019.
We bring in Sydney Sumner of Crime Online for more.
The sentencing marks the conclusion of a legal case that has drawn significant attention in Las Vegas.
Ciar Wood, once a running back in the NFL and Canadian Football League, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 10 years.
This comes after the 33-year-old Wood reached a plea agreement with prosecutors pleading guilty to second-degree murder and felony child abuse. The charges stem from the death of Larea Davis,
who died of blunt force injuries on April 9, 2019, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.
Clark County District Court Judge Jacqueline Bluth also sentenced Wood to an additional 28 months to
six years for the felony child abuse charge. These sentences will be served consecutively.
As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped
several other felony child abuse charges originally filed against Wood. He entered an
Alford plea, a legal move allowing him to maintain his innocence while acknowledging
the evidence against him would likely lead to a conviction. Amy Taylor, the child's mother,
also faced charges in connection with her daughter's death. Earlier this year, 31-year-old
Taylor pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and felony child abuse as part of her own agreement with
prosecutors. Sierra Woods' career in professional football included playing for the University of
Notre Dame and brief stints with three NFL teams as well as the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL.
Thanks, John. Tiffany Reid, 16, tries to wake up her older
sister, Deandra, for a ride to school. Deandra's exhausted from a late night shift, doesn't feel
like driving, so Tiffany walks to school. It's just a 10-minute trip from their Shiprock, New Mexico,
home. That afternoon, Tiffany does not come home from school. She's not back by the next morning,
and Mom Deidre learns she wasn't in school the day before. Two weeks after Tiffany disappears,
a family friend finds her purse and its contents scattered along a road just across the border
in Arizona. There's no indication of where Tiffany could be. Tiffany Reed, Native American,
