Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to an iHeart Podcast. Crime Alert, I'm Nancy Grace. Breaking crime news now. Three adult roommates share a Pennsylvania home. One of the roommates sitting in the living room when she overhears an argument between the other two, Yuli Hines and Keith Boggs. Hines, frustrated with Boggs' barking dog,
Starting point is 00:00:22 tells him he's not coming in the house with the dog and he needs to get rid of the dog. Boggs refuses barking dog, tells him he's not coming in the house with the dog and he needs to get rid of the dog. Boggs refuses and pushes past Hines to come into the home. Suddenly, three gunshots ring out. The roommate in the living room turns to see Yuli Hines standing over Keith Boggs' body. Nancy, a neighbor called 911 after hearing the gunshots and the third roommate screaming. When police arrived, they found Boggs, 36, suffering from three gunshot wounds, two to the chest and one in his right arm, and a bloody footprint. Boggs was taken to the hospital where he was ultimately pronounced dead. The roommate reported hearing Hines say,
Starting point is 00:00:58 quote, I told you to stop epping with me after shooting Boggs. Uli Hines, 83, charged with murder. Jackson Romwell was just four months old when his dad, Utah cop David Romrell, was killed in the line of duty, run down by burglary suspects fleeing the scene. But as Jackson heads to his first day of kindergarten, he's not alone. 14 officers give Jackson and his mom an escort to school.

Now with the latest crime and justice breaking news, Crime Online's John Limley. A mother from western Michigan who crashed her SUV into an ice-covered pond last year, killing her three sons, has entered a not guilty plea to various charges related to the incident. A judge in Ottawa County accepted Letitia Gonzalez's no-contest plea to three misdemeanor charges of moving violations resulting in death, as well as three charges of operating while drunk causing serious injury. Starting point is 00:02:10 Police say Gonzalez was behind the wheel of her sport utility vehicle in February 2022 when she left the pavement and jumped a curb, leading the SUV to roll upside down into an ice-covered retention pond. Her sons, four-year-old Jerome III, three-year-old Jeremiah, and one-year-old Josiah drowned in the incident. All three children were buckled into their child's safety seats. Gonzalez managed to escape the vehicle with only minor wounds. The morning of the deadly accident, she allegedly took two doses of methadone, a narcotic used to treat drug addiction and for pain relief. Police say the medication left her impaired. Sentencing is now scheduled for September 25th. According to the sentencing guidelines, Gonzalez will serve between seven months to two years in prison. Police have charged a graduate student at the University of North Carolina with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of
Starting point is 00:03:00 a faculty member. The attack prompted a lockdown on campus as police searched for the shooter. Shi Ji Yan was killed during the shooting inside a science building on the campus of Chapel Hill. 34-year-old Ty Lee Chee appeared in court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing. He faces a firearms charge in addition to the murder charges and for having a gun on school grounds. The school's website lists Chi as a graduate student in Yan's research group. Yan is listed as an associate professor in the Department of Applied Physical Sciences. Now to central Indiana, where a second man has been detained by police in connection with a July shooting at a huge block party, an incident that left one person dead and 17 others injured.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Once again, Crime Online's Sydney Sumner. According to Muncie Police, the 29-year-old male was detained for his suspected involvement in the shooting on July 30th and was charged with two preliminary felonies, criminal recklessness with a dangerous weapon and being a serious violent felon in possession of a firearm. His is the second arrest connected to the shooting, which happened in the town approximately 60 miles northeast of Indianapolis. 30-year-old Joseph E. Bonner was killed and 18 other people were hurt, including a woman who was driven over by a car as she fled the scene. 36-year-old John L. Vance Jr. was apprehended
Starting point is 00:04:19 by police in connection with the shooting on August 1. He is charged with two counts of aggravated violence, two counts of criminal recklessness, and one count of having a gun while being a serious violent felon. Authorities have stated that the shooting took place as police were contacting organizers to end the event. According to police, Bonner was among those attending the party. April Bailey, mom of three, lives with her boyfriend in a New Hampshire basement apartment. Bailey heads out in her pajamas and a jacket to take out the trash one evening. She never comes back. All of Bailey's belongings left behind.
Starting point is 00:04:53 And she was only wearing bedroom slippers when she headed to the dumpster less than a block away.
