Crime Alert, I'm Nancy Grace.
Breaking crime news now.
Omar and Samira Abdullah move into a new apartment just above a PhD chemistry student,
Zuming Li, just before welcoming their first child.
Li frequently complains about the baby noise.
The couple tries to keep the noise down, but tensions run high.
The family begins noticing noxious odors in the apartment that make them feel sick.
After having their appliances checked, the Abdullas set up a camera and they catch Lee
using a syringe to inject chemicals into the apartment below the doorframe. Lee mixed
hydrocodone and methadone at the University of South Florida's
chemistry lab. The mixture caused the Abdullah's newborn to scratch at her eyes, refuse to eat,
have episodes of vomiting, and lose her hair. Umar Abdullah caught Lee on camera twice,
having to adjust it between incidents to get a clear image of what Lee did.
And Nancy, we're also learning that Lee is a father himself and shared the apartment below the Abdullahs with his wife and two toddlers. Lee, 36, now charged with burglary,
battery, and aggravated stalking. A Chicago news team heads out onto the streets to cover a string
of armed robberies in Westtown. As the crew begins filming a little after 5 a.m., Art imitates life.
Two cars drive up.
Three men wearing ski masks jump out carrying guns.
They demand the reporter's wallets and search the team's SUV for valuables.
No one injured, but cops add the latest armed robbery to their investigation of armed robberies.
More crime and justice news after this.
Now with the latest crime and justice breaking news, Crime Online's John Limley.
Following a stabbing at a high school in North Carolina that left one student dead and another injured, authorities say a 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder. With more,
here's Sydney Sumner with Crime Online. According to a news release from Raleigh Police, the stabbing occurred during a fight at Southeast Raleigh High School.
Two teenagers were taken to a nearby hospital after police and school security responded to a complaint of a stabbing.
Later in the day, police and school officials said that a 16-year-old student had been hospitalized with injuries deemed non-life-threatening, while a 15-year-old student had died. Raleigh police say the 14-year-old was
charged with murder after filing a juvenile petition. Police spokesperson Lt. Jason Borneo
reported that the teenager attended the school where the altercation occurred.
The identity of the student who died has not yet been made public by officials.
Wake County Superintendent Robert Taylor stated
during a press conference that schools should be a safe haven for faculty, staff, and students,
and that all safety procedures and guidelines will be examined. School administrators canceled
classes for the day following the incident. Now to Wisconsin, where after confessing to
killing his father and stepmother with a machete after they intervened to stop him
from sexually abusing a teenager, a Kenosha man has been handed a life sentence. According to
our friends with the Kenosha News, 27-year-old Jesus Medrano III was given a life sentence
without the possibility of parole by a judge in the Kenosha County Circuit Court. Following the 2021 murders of his father,
49-year-old Jesus Medrano Jr., and stepmother, 36-year-old Latrice Myers Medrano,
Medrano III was charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.
Medrano acknowledged using a machete to kill the couple on January 6, 2021, after they stopped him from sexually abusing a teenage relative with whom they shared their Kenosha home.
In September, Medrano pleaded guilty to first-degree intentional homicide
by use of a dangerous weapon in Myers Medrano's death and attempted first-degree sexual assault.
Both the child abuse charge and the homicide charge related to Medrano's
father's death were dropped as part of his plea deal. A health care group with 30 hospitals spread
across six states has declared that it has suspended certain elective treatments and moved
patients from at least some of its emergency rooms to other facilities. All of this as a result of a
ransomware attack. Once again, Crime Online's Sydney Sumner.
Ardent Health Services said in a statement that the incident happened on November 23rd.
Following that, the business shut down its online network and prevented users from accessing its
IT programs, which included the patient care documentation software. According to the
Nashville-based company, the extent of any exposed patient health or financial information
is still unknown. In order to quickly restore IT capabilities, Arden claims to have spoken
with cybersecurity experts, reported the issue to law enforcement, and hired outside forensic
and threat intelligence analysts to assess the situation. Arden says there is still
no projected date when it comes to resolving problems resulting from the breach. Seven-year-old
Patrick Alford and his little sister placed in foster care while mom finds a suitable home for
the family in New York City. Three weeks later, Patrick, not adjusting well, says he wants to run
away and find mommy. Patrick's foster mom gets
