Crime Alert, I'm Nancy Grace.
Breaking crime news now.
Jacqueline Medina wakes up her daughter, Lizbeth,
before she leaves for work,
promising to meet her for the school's Christmas parade.
Lizbeth is cheering in that evening.
After work, Medina goes to the parade,
but Lizbeth isn't there.
Jacqueline Medina rushes home to find her teen girl,
Lizbeth, in the bathtub, still in her PJs, murdered. Nancy, Jacqueline Medina found Lizbeth still in her pajamas. The 16-year-old
never made it to school, which went unnoticed because she had been out sick the day before.
There was no sign of forced entry into their apartment, so cops turned a surveillance video,
finding a suspicious man running from the apartment complex and taking off in a silver Ford Taurus. Suspected killer
Rafael Romero, 23, charged with capital murder. Tanya Nestor asked boyfriend Charlie Glenn to go
for a walk. Glenn notices Nestor's holding something and she tells him it's a pellet gun. He asked to see it, but it's a real pistol
that Nestor uses to shoot him, hitting him right in his private parts. Glenn wrestles the gun away
from Nestor and calls 911. Cops arrest Tonya Nestor on assault. In an interview with reporters,
Glenn says he harbors no ill feelings after the shooting and, quote, still loves Nestor, quote, to this day.
I guess it was a private matter.
More crime and justice news after this.
Now with the latest crime and justice breaking news, Crime Online's Jackie Howard. Prosecutors in Washington state say that a man behind bars awaiting trial has been charged with three additional homicides.
Crime Online's Sydney Sumner has more.
After 44-year-old Brandy Blake was discovered dead in a large park in the town of Auburn, Washington,
40-year-old Richard Bradley Jr. was charged in May 2021 with first-degree murder. According to our friends
with the Seattle Times, in the past two weeks, prosecutors have brought three additional murder
charges against Bradley. These allegations relate to the shooting deaths of an adult son and father
in May 2021, as well as the 2019 killing of a man whose bones were discovered next to Blake's grave.
Bradley is expected to go on trial for Blake's killing in January. Online court
records indicate that he hasn't had a chance to enter a plea on the other murder counts.
The suspect allegedly enticed all four victims by offering to assist in the discovery of hidden
wealth. Bradley is accused of using the same plan in each of the deaths, this according to court
documents written by Senior Deputy Prosecutor Thomas O'Ban. He is said to have told the victims
he needed their assistance in finding a stash of stolen gold, led them to a wooded area,
killed them, and then took their cars and any belongings they may have had inside.
Bradley remains behind bars and is being held without bail in Seattle's King County Jail.
A federal judge has reversed a Mississippi man's death sentence conviction. The judge found that
the trial judge had not given the man's attorney sufficient opportunity to contend that the
prosecution was excluding black jurors on the basis of discrimination. The ruling by U.S. District
Judge Michael Mills states that Terry Pitchford's capital murder charges must be retried by the
state of Mississippi.
According to Mills, the former district attorney Doug Evans' alleged history of prejudice toward black jurors is a contributing factor to his decision. A representative for Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch has announced that the state plans to appeal the ruling. Pitchford was charged with murder in connection with the 2004 fatal robbery
at the Crossroads Grocery,
a business located in the northern Mississippi city
of Grenada.
Now to the West Coast,
as authorities say an inmate at a prison
in Central Florida has died
following an attack by two other prisoners.
Once again, Crime Online's Sydney Sumner.
30-year-old Horacio Ramirez
was attacked in a recreation yard at Salinas Valley State Prison while he was serving a
sentence for first-degree murder. The attack was halted by a guard using a less-than-lethal device,
and staff members carried out life-saving procedures before calling an ambulance.
However, authorities report that Ramirez was declared dead roughly 20 minutes after the assault.
Authorities also stated that Ramirez's death is being looked at as a homicide because a weapon constructed by an inmate was discovered at the scene.
According to prison officials, two inmates have been moved into restricted housing while the investigation is underway.
It was in 2014 that Ramirez was sentenced in Tulare County to life in prison with the possibility
of parole. Authorities at the time said that he was found guilty of first-degree murder,
robbery, and criminal gang activities. Correction officials say that Ramirez
received an additional nine-year term for attempted murder earlier this year.
Thanks, Jackie. Latasha Crump Coleman doesn't show up for work as a correctional officer. Her family tries
to contact her, then her son discovers her car missing. In her home, he finds mom's Apple Watch,
purse, and three dogs caged and unfed. Latasha is reported missing that evening. Her brother,
Cedric Crump, learns he was the last one to speak to her on the phone the night before,
reporting he thought he heard someone in the background of that call.
Latasha separated from husband Derek Coleman,
against whom she had a protective order for abuse.
She lived alone.
A neighbor reports seeing Latasha's car, a gray Acura MDX,
driving away from the home just after Cedric says he speaks with her. Latasha Crump Coleman
