Severe details continue to emerge out of Twin Falls, Idaho, following a terrifying shooting at a newly opened In-N-Out Burger location that left three people dead and seven others wounded. Authorities officially identified the gunman as 24-year-old Chad Williams.
Starting point is 00:00:28 Investigators report that William, opened fire Saturday inside the restaurant, fatally shooting an employee and a customer before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks, dispatchers received multiple emergency calls while screams and gunshots echoed in the background. Chief Hicks described the initial response. Multiple 911 calls were received by the Twin Falls City Communications Center. Dispatchers could hear screaming and reports of gunshots in the background. Officers from our department department, along with officers from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies all converged to the incident. Chief Hicks revealed that the tragic incident could have resulted in far more
Starting point is 00:01:10 casualties, if not for the rapid intervention of two individuals on scene. An off-duty state trooper and an armed citizen confronted Williams, returning fire and driving the suspect away from additional patrons inside the restaurant. Williams was found dead near the exterior of the establishment. Chief Hicks publicly commended the heroic efforts of both the off-duty officer and the brave citizen. We want to take a moment and commend the actions of the off-duty officer and the citizen in their heroic action to stop this incident. We believe their actions helped drive the suspect away from the scene, preventing further casualties. In total, three people died and seven others suffered injuries in the shootout. Twin Falls City spokesperson Josh Palmer previously confirmed that two injured victims have been released from the

Chief Hicks characterized the tragedy as one of the most chaotic situations his department has ever encountered in their careers. The investigation has expanded to include state and federal partners with FBI Salt Lake City Special Agent in charge Robert Bowles confirming full federal support. We have committed the full weight of our resources to the Twin Falls Police Department deploying every investigative and intelligence tool at our disposal. Our evidence response teams and victim services specialists are also on the ground, working tirelessly to support both the investigation and those impacted. Six months after 8. 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie vanished from her home in the Catalina Foothills of Tucson, Arizona, the leading sheriff is explaining why investigators recently released two purported ransom notes.
Starting point is 00:03:38 The missing woman is the mother of today co-host Savannah Guthrie. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nano stated that authorities hope someone will recognize the writer's distinctive language in phrasing. Sheriff Nanos outlined why these written documents were released. There's a number of pieces of information in these notes that someone might, it just might jar someone to say, you know, I've heard that, or the wording, the style of the writing is, might jog somebody to kind of think about who would have written this? How was this done? We hope that by releasing the actual note, we'll get some response from the community. authorities note that it remains unclear whether both ransom notes were written by the same individual. On Saturday, marking six full months since the disappearance, Savannah Guthrie shared an emotional Instagram post, stating her family has lived every moment in agony and despair while pleading the public for help. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that detectives are actively reviewing

Starting point is 00:05:24 aboard a Carnival cruise ship where an allegedly intoxicated Georgia man attacked two young children playing tag. 44-year-old David Lawrence Crosby, the second, of Surrency, Georgia, was arrested on July 27th on two counts of felony child abuse. According to a probable cause affidavit, Crosby was running down a hallway aboard the carnival glory when he encountered three children. Crosby allegedly struck one child in the face causing a bloody lip and head pain before hitting a second child in the stomach. Security cameras captured the incident.
Starting point is 00:05:57 When questioned by officers, Crosby stated he was heavily intoxicated and did not remember hitting the children. In a statement, Carnival Cruise Line confirmed their security team responded immediately, confined Crosby to his cabin for the remainder of the voyage, assessed a code of conduct fee, placed him on a do not sale list, and turned him over to law enforcement. enforcement. Crosby posted a $20,000 bond, pleaded not guilty, and has an August 25th court date.
