Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an iHeart Podcast. Crime Stories with Nancy Grace. And I quote, His lovemaking was not the best. With all the practice, he should have been better. Her words, not mine, end quote, scorned girlfriend exposes married Texas police chief for a triple life. He was leading, dating, married, engaged, and or engaged to seven other women in addition to her before she happily posted on Facebook that she was engaged only to be warned off by a girlfriend.
Starting point is 00:00:54 Hey, I know his wife. Well, it all hit the fan when the elected sheriff allegedly sends a fake court document and annulment. That's after what, a wife and how many, three children with the wife, tried to tell the girlfriend he got annulled, he got his marriage annulled. Well, that didn't work. And now he's under investigation, not just for philandering, but for tampering with official court documents. I'm Nancy Grace. This is Crime Stories. Thank you for being with us here at Fox Nation and Sirius XM 111. But his wife and all his girlfriends and fiancés and lovers and sweethearts,
Starting point is 00:01:38 it wasn't just their lives they got turned upside down when Sheriff Jason Collier played the field. And that's certainly putting perfume on the pig. Let me introduce to you right now, Dr. Jason Collier. Joining me, not from Texas, but from Tennessee. Dr. Collier, thank you for being with us. Sure, thank you. Dr. Collier, I did break into laughter just then, but it's not at you.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Okay. It's not at you at all. When did you first become aware that you have basically a doppelganger on the other side of the country with your same name that's in a whole heap of trouble? Yeah, I can't remember which day it was, but I started getting some messages one evening a few weeks ago. And just people, an employee of mine had tagged me in a post of this other guy. You mean Sheriff Jason Collier, the former Senate Police Department chief. Yeah, so I got tagged in this other story, and I initially said, hey, look, will you please just untag me from that? I'm not really interested in being brought into someone else's drama.
Starting point is 00:02:55 I don't know what's going on with that story. It's not drama, doctor. I know you're the MD, and I'm just a humble JD, but a charge of falsifying court documents, that's a crime. It's not a drama, but go ahead. Yeah. So I asked just to take my name off the post, but over the next few hours and the next morning, I started getting a bunch of other messages, and I thought, you know, over the next, over the next few hours and the next morning I started getting a bunch of other messages and I thought, you know, I'll probably, it'd probably be, uh,
Starting point is 00:03:30 What do you mean by other messages? Well, one of them was my mother. Uh, she called and said, have you seen this? And some other, some other friends had sent me messages saying, Hey, I don't know if you've seen this, but, um, there's a story with this other guy. You might want to say something about, you know, just kind of make a post saying that this isn't you. You know what?
Starting point is 00:03:55 Hold on right there. Joining me right now, CrimeOnline.com investigative reporter Alexis Tereschuk. You know, that's a tough decision to make when you're trying a case. When the other side does something wrong and the cat gets out of the bag, should you bring it to the jury's attention by saying, Objection! I want that stricken from the record because it's already out there. If you say something, do you make it worse? And here you've got Dr. Jason Collier with his MD joining us out of Tennessee, who is now actually getting hate mail and threats because of the police chief Collier.
Starting point is 00:04:36 You know what? Let's just start with who is the police chief Collier. Take a listen to Marnie Hughes at WGN America. Before becoming police chief, Jason Collier was awarded the Medal of Valor by the state of Texas in 2016. This was for helping save the life of a fellow officer. Tonight, he's at the center of a criminal investigation. A woman who says she was Collier's fiancee is now warning a small Texas town. Their now former chief is living a double life. Living a double life is one way to put it. Alexis, for us, Chuck, what do we know? Living a double life is one way to put it. I would put it a triple life, a quadruple life, all the way up to an octo life. This man, Jason Collier, not the doctor on the phone. He was the chief of police of a city of Stinnett in Texas, which is a small town,
Starting point is 00:05:25 about 2000 people, but still the chief of police, the top law enforcement officer of the entire city, started dating a woman. He met her on a dating website. He writes on his dating website, I am just looking for friendship and maybe something more. Starts dating her within like two weeks, immediately is talking about wanting to marry her. She says, oh, this is so exciting. She finally goes public on Facebook with her picture. I have a new boyfriend. He's a police officer. He's just dream come true. Everything you could want out of a partner. And her friend calls her and says, what are you talking about? I know his wife. Well, I have a problem with their engagement. Hold on, Dr. Jason Collier.
Starting point is 00:06:07 We need to clear the air here, Alexis and I, because when your soon-to-be husband says, hey, you know what? You just go ahead and pick out your engagement ring. I'll pay for it, and we'll be done with it. Why is he too busy to go help you pick out the engagement ring? I guess so, because he has seven other women he's sleeping with or on the hook with. Guys, take a listen to Kelly Green, our cut eight, K-A-M-R, Local 4. Thursday afternoon, the Texas Rangers arrested Collier and booked him into the Hutchinson County Jail.
Starting point is 00:06:36 He's charged with tampering with a government record with the intent to defraud or harm, which is a state jail felony. His bond was set at $10,000. Tuesday, Amarillo woman Cecily Steinmetz posted this to Facebook, saying she was engaged to Collier before she learned he was married. Steinmetz's original post has gone viral, shared tens of thousands of times, even internationally. I spoke with Steinmetz, who alleges Collier sent her a fake annulment document. Steinmetz says this photo of an annulment document is from Collier sent her a fake annulment document. Steinmetz says this photo of an annulment document is from Collier. And then he was like, well, you know, I'll get you the annulment. He's like, just hold on. And I was like, okay, you know, I see it then. And he sent that to me. And I told him, I said, well, I'm not going to take this at its face value. I'm going to check
Starting point is 00:07:19 it out in Otter County. I did not think it was right in his position to be presenting people with a false document like that. Well, the fake annulment document is one thing. I think it's the juggling of women. That's the real problem in many people's eyes, not necessarily a judge's eyes. He was weighed in saying this is absolutely not a certified annulment. Take a listen to our cut 17, Venea Patino, WBRC Fox 6. It all started with this picture. Cecilia was ready and happy to make her relationship official by sharing it to her family and friends on Facebook. She went to sleep that night, not thinking that post would turn everything into a nightmare. And then I woke up the next morning to a text from a very good friend. She said, okay, I know where I know I'm from.
Starting point is 00:08:06 She goes, I'm friends with his wife on Facebook. And I was completely shocked. She could not believe it as they had spent so much time together. This is a ring video of one of the many times she says he would visit her while still on the clock. Not only that, but she says he had met her family, had their picture up in his office, and even went as far as asking her to pick out an engagement ring. Okay, I don't like it one bit. So let's clarify too, Dr. Jason Collier, joining us from Tennessee, not Texas, you don't have a wife, a fiance fiance and seven other girlfriends, do you?
Starting point is 00:08:45 No, I do not. Okay. Crime Stories with Nancy Grace. How did this whole thing devolve into hate mail? So, you know, like I said, I just started getting messages and just kind of sharing with me what was going on with this other story. And I just made a post and said, hey, look, this isn't me. And it was something that went viral. And so I just, my intent in all of this was just to project goodness in the middle of kind of having my name drawn into someone else's. A nasty sex vortex.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Yeah. And what happened after you made that post? It got over a few hours. It just started being shared and comments were made. What kind of comments? Yes, it is you. No, I mean, actually, they were kind of, I mean, they were positive comments toward me. Because I just, I was kind of lighthearted about it.
Starting point is 00:10:25 And so there were a lot of comments. Some, some people were asking what I thought about, what about what I thought about coffee makers, or if I could send them a coffee maker. Oh, there's a reason for that. You know, the reason for that, right? Because sheriff, I mean, police chief, Jason Collier, apparently would get all his girlfriends the same coffee maker. Did you know that? Yeah, I did. Yeah. So that was kind of the, you know, I guess there's a little bit of a humorous element to all that.
Starting point is 00:10:54 And so then I said, you know, I just kind of jokingly came out with another just short little post. And so many people said, you know, you really should start a, you know, we, we like, we, we like your energy. We like you, you should come out with a coffee company or make new coffee makers or something. Just. You need to get back to the office and pretend this never happened.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Collier. That's what I'm saying. Hey, you know, back to you, Alexis Tereshchuk, join me crime online.com investigative reporter. The Senate police Department chief, Jason Collier, is no longer a married father of five, by the way, is no longer the police chief. But is he still married? Has his wife filed for divorce? What do we know about that? She just filed for divorce. He was married this whole time.
Starting point is 00:11:42 They weren't separated. They weren't living apart. She had no idea any of this was going on until it all became public. And she finally filed for divorce just about three days ago. What took her so long? Does she need more women to come out of the woodwork? I mean, I think after the first one, maybe he could say she's lying. This isn't a big deal. But when two, three, four and then up to eight come out, she was done with him. So, you know, in this particular case, Alexis Tereschuk, you can understand why there are a lot of haters out there that are angry with the former police chief. But somehow many people think that Dr. Collier, very well respected for children in 15, 14, 11, and 9, there in Tennessee, has nothing to do with that.
Starting point is 00:12:38 But a lot of people are getting them confused, Alexis. They do, and that's the problem. They have the same name, Dr. Collier Successful. This guy was the chief of police. You know, this is a big job. And so that's the problem. Like you can become a target of a lot of bad things. And so people can attack Dr. Collier. They can email him. They can go on his website. They can go on his Yelp page and say like, why are you cheating on your wife? Why do you have eight girlfriends? It could really be really harmful for him. Back to you. With me
Starting point is 00:13:08 is Dr. Jason Collier joining us out of Tennessee, Cordova, Tennessee. Very reputable practice is not the police chief that has been ousted, that has left office in Texas.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Another thing, Alexis, what about the criminal charges on the police chief? So he has been arrested for falsifying a government document because what he did, he gave his girlfriend or fiance a document that showed that he was there. He'd filed for an annulment within the county. And she said, well, I'm going to call the clerk of the court. So she called the clerk, of course, she said, here's a number that he says signed by these two people. Can you give me, can you confirm this? And the clerk looked, she looked every which way she looked, there was a case number or they call it a cause number there.
Starting point is 00:13:59 But, and she looked up the names of both parties, you know, the husband and the wife couldn't find it anywhere. And she said, this does not exist. And so being a law enforcement officer, you can or nobody really can falsify a government document, but certainly not the chief of police. So he has been arrested for this. You know, to Dr. Jason Collier joining us from Tennessee. So did you say you're considering starting a coffee company or a coffee maker company? But the chief police chief coffee maker?? What, the Cheating Police Chief Coffee Maker? Well, you know, we did.
Starting point is 00:14:29 You know, it's one of those things where I, you know, I didn't ask to be drawn into the situation. But it was something that I found myself in. My name was associated with this other guy. And it just kind of, a lot of people, there were two people that set up a fan page for me, and really just looking at goodness. They wanted goodness out of this, in my opinion. So we kind of came, what came out of this was in a playful playful but trying to turn lemons into lemonade, we decided to come up with a coffee company that we called Good Guy Coffee. And? Have you sold any? right at that point where we are about to, we have a, we have everything in place and we're ready to,
Starting point is 00:15:27 we may even be ready to start doing sales today. Okay. How fortuitous. So, or what? So what, I mean, our, our goal in all this, again, is to, is to turn a negative situation, spin it around and do something good. And our, our aim was to, in the company as a whole, just to project goodness, you know, in growth, personal growth and goodness, but then also take a portion of that, any proceeds that come from that and give them to charities that benefit women and children in need. Well, Dr. Jason Collier, maybe you are too good to be true.
Starting point is 00:16:07 I think I'm going to have to investigate you. Good guy coffee. Not perfect. We started a coffee company out of this, and our goal is to, you know, just like I said, to turn something that kind of had a, you know, I mean, it has a negativity associated with it, and to try to make something good kind of had a, you know, I mean, it has a negativity associated with it and to try to make something good out of it. You know what? Let me just state for the record,
Starting point is 00:16:32 Dr. Jason Collier is not the debunked police chief out of Stennett County, Texas. I look forward to having a cup of coffee with you, Dr. Jason Collier. Thank you. Thank you, Nancy. Nancy Grace, Crime Stories, signing off. Goodbye, friend. This is an iHeart Podcast.
