Hello everyone and welcome to tonight's episode of Critical War for a bunch of us nerdy-ass voice actors.
and play Dungeons and Dragons.
Thankfully and happily have Laura back this week.
Yay!
Yay!
No more you doing my voice, Matt?
Oh, and that wasn't gonna happen ever again.
The internet has spoken, nobody wants that.
I love the shame she threw you on her spirit park.
It's plenty of shade.
That's not the Laura, I know.
No.
We have the whole gang here.
We do.
Hey!
What?
I love it.
So before we jump into the actual story,
the night's game, we have some quick announcements
to get through.
First and foremost, we have two fantastic sponsors tonight.
First up, we have for this evening,
Archer Danger Island.
As a long time fan of Archer,
I'm excited that today's episode is brought to you
by Archer Danger Island.
That is the new season that premieres on FX,
Wednesday, April 25th at 10 p.m.
So next week, check it out.
It'll start there.
Season 9, 7 is in the semi-functioning alcoholic
Seaplane pilot. Sterling Archer, as we know.
A lush, on a lush South Pacific island of Mithymotu in 1939.
While the rest of the world is concerned about the impending Second World War, Archer is only concerned
with who's buying his next drink.
Damn right.
Along with this trustee-co pilot, Pam.
One of my favorite characters.
Sterling must navigate quicksand, cannibal, super-intelligent monkeys, poison darts, and pirates.
That's right, thanks.
Somehow they've jumped the shark into even better shark-infested waters.
We get a shot Benjamin on the show.
I'm all about to, oh God, I love that.
Sometimes when you jump to shark, there's just more sharks there.
That's great.
It's just a bunch of sharks.
It's just a bunch of sharks.
So yeah, stay turned for the break to catch a special video that Nerdist created in partnership with FX,
creating our dream Archer Danger Island board game here at LDN to celebrate the new season.
So check that out at the break.
Our second sponsor and returning sponsor are fantastic friends eternally with this campaign, D&D Beyond.
D-D-Bion!
Stan, you know-high.
Yes.
Guba, Ghiba, Ghiba.
All start.
D-D-Bion is raising money for our greatest favorite charity, A26 L.A.
They're doing a big push now to raise money for this great, great organization that promotes literacy for young people everywhere.
And as part of the 826LA charity initiative,
now that we're way past our $10,000 tier,
D&D Beyond has offered up the discount code 826LA
to get 25% off the legendary bundle.
The legendary bundle includes all the digital materials
available at D&D Beyond, so check it out now.
And as part of what they announced last week,
D&D Beyond is contributing $100 to 826LA
for every natural one we roll and to on
That.
Oh, God.
Oh, no.
What is that?
Oh, no.
I've written a folk song.
I don't think it always seems to cry.
I don't know you played.
Three episodes from now he's going to bring in a gospel band.
I don't know.
This Cold War escalation is going to kill us all.
Okay.
I need participation for this one, guys.
You got it.
When I call for it, you have to say the number one.
Because this is all in honor of us rolling ones, right?
We're rolling, we're, la la, hmm.
We're rolling once.
Rolling on every night.
We're rolling once.
Rolling in every fight.
How many times has Ashley been back?
One.
How many times has Caleb had a bath?
How many testicles to Sam have?
One.
How many chords are there in this song?
One.
Two.
What's the past tense of win?
One.
What's Obi-Kinobe's middle?
One.
What's a synonym for pasty and pale?
One.
Thank you, Liam.
What will the Washington football team do when they face the count?
Lowe!
That's it.
That's it.
That's it.
Oh.
You'll sneak that shit.
Thank you, Sam. Thank you, G&D Beyond.
Thank you, our friends, FX, and Archer.
Rolling off that, too, to off the 826 initiative that we're doing right now for this very special fundraising campaign.
Many thanks to one of our Vanessa Curtis, Mark K., who's offered to match every single dollar that you donate, up to $40,000.
Mark K., so generous.
And many other companies are offering donations to match donations as well, so much as you can do, it's going to
just expand progressively.
So thank you for everything there.
If you want to check it out,
because we've unlocked a bunch of tiers,
and we have a few more to unlock as well.
Go to 826LA.org slash Critical Role.
Do you see where we are and how you can help
with their fantastic organization?
Yes.
Yes.
Once again, reminder, Twitch Prime.
If you have Amazon Prime, you can connect
to your Twitch account and get once a month free.
Go ahead and give your patronage to a Twitch channel
of your choice.
That's the word I was looking for.
It's every month, right?
so it's just like something that keeps up.
You have to do it every month.
It's really obnoxious.
It's confusing.
But it's free.
But it's free.
It's free.
And it still, everyone asks if it supports us
if we get a lesser cut or like a more cut.
It supports us the exact same way.
Yeah.
Off that note too, we have new Twitch emotes available for those
who are subscribed to the channel.
Based on the various tiers, there are plenty new emotes
with the Mighty Nine related as well as the Nine itself on the guy.
So look for that in the subscription.
Critical Recap, of course, is up if you need a refresher for campaign, too.
Our Fantastic Danny Carr does refreshers of every episode to come out the Thursdays before the episode.
I'm sure if you were here earlier, you saw this week's refresher of last week's episode.
And if you need to get caught up or get your friends caught up quickly to watch live, that's how you do so.
So look for it on YouTube under Critical Recap.
Not right now.
Talks Mockina, of course, every Tuesday evening from our fantastic friend, Brian W. Foster, we'll be hosting next Tuesday at 7 p.m. Pacific.
Regarding tonight's episode, so check that out.
We'll have a few cast members there to discuss the events that shall unfold before you later this evening.
He also smells like cabbage.
You're out there.
The podcast of episode 14 from last week is available for download for all fine podcasts users out there.
If you're listening to the audio versions of it, and you haven't listened to the last episode and you're waiting for the podcast.
You can listen to both and watch tonight.
That'd be really confusing, but you can.
That's an option now, so congratulations.
I think that's, oh, and made the comic book that just came out.
Yes.
Issue six of the comic book.
Which is fantastic.
The final issue of our six episode arc of box market origin is available.
Check it out if you haven't yet, especially if you were waiting for the mall to come out.
Now you can do that, and we'll have news soon about an actual hard release you can hold in your hands.
That's exciting.
The glory of grog in that issue.
I don't really get there.
There is a full page.
Don't forget, Clos of Eternity 2, Dead Fire,
comes out very soon in just a few weeks.
For those who haven't played the first close of eternity,
you don't have to. The sequel gets you pretty up to speed if you haven't played,
but if you have, you can carry over your save from the previous one.
I recommend playing it if you have the time, it's really good.
But this one is amazing looking.
And they partner with us. All of us get the voice cast members of the new game.
And there's free D.L.C. where you get to download
portraits and voice sets of Vox Machina from Critical Role to use in the game.
And they have just teased the first critical role voxmachina portrait, which is a pickle.
That's right.
Mike's portrait was unveiled today.
The full portrait of the pixel-in.
Everyone else is pixelated out, but pickle has been revealed.
Yeah!
She is in my time, so I didn't know that.
Say if you want to pre-order it, you can pre-order it at versus-eval.com slash critical role.
And that's also where you can go see the portrait.
portrait. So super excited for that. I think with that folks, our Hans Spencer done.
Oh my god. I'm so I'm gonna, I'm coughing tonight a lot so if I do everybody just
stop and stare at me.
Extreme. Every time. Yes.
Extreme. So if I get up and leave that's what happens. I'm just gonna, I don't
want to like have a coffee. Or you pooped your paint. Or I pooped your pants.
You're kind of allowed to do any of those things. Any action right now.
That's true.
Yeah, awesome.
Thank you for the update.
Yeah, sorry, I just wanted to put that up there.
No, it's good enough.
Thanks for the overshare.
And with that, guys, let's go ahead and get started.
Tonight's episode of Critical Root.
And welcome back, everyone.
So, that was weak.
That was pretty weird.
I know, sorry.
Last time we left off, the Mighty Nine had gone towards the evening nip
where they had finally crawled into the subterranean
hidden basement slash tavern, where the gentleman seems to do his business. You had encountered
Yasha, who had joined back up with the party. You had a brief discussion with this gentleman,
which led to a bit of card sharkery from Ford's end, affairs played game, made quite a bit of money,
and earned his favor. There, you discussed what was to be done with this new arrangement.
He took some blood as it was required of him to make sure that he could ensure.
Wait, what?
Yeah.
Just getting out of blood.
You're watching.
But you guys said that when you're possibly looking for furthering some sort of a relationship for business purposes, but for now you had an individual that needed to be smuggled out.
And he said it would be fine, but one favor requires one in turn and to prove yourself both capable.
And he had heard some tales of what you had done within Zadash.
He requested that you go and inspect this newly discovered buried ruin, this series of chambers that exist on the outskirts of their underground river escape towards Barilben and the Unterlach.
You went ahead and retrieved. Horace brought him back. He was then, supposedly, it seems to be so, sent off and escorted out of the city safely.
They killed him.
They totally killed him.
They probably killed him.
Oh, good a deal.
But these criminals promised us.
And you found yourself down towards the subterranean docks to this river.
By the way, through all of this, Molly was having a mild panic attack about his story,
encountering Cree and apparently being called the name Lucian and Nonagon.
Non-a-Doo-Doo.
Upon making your way to the docks, you were given two boats and utilizing them to travel further downstream towards where the exterior of this ruin was discovered.
You all gathered your supplies, and by the glowing orbs of Caleb's dancing lights ahead of you, we left off with you traversing deeper and deeper down the dark tunnel and river.
Do we remember which boat we were on?
I remember that Ford asked me to be his boat.
boat.
Don't read into it.
It was with Caleb and then.
Oh, man.
Huff, usually he was before the game and totally forgot to.
That's okay.
We can just do it now while people are watching you.
That's what I'm here for you.
That's okay.
It's like a real game.
Yeah, the boats were...
Yasha, Caleb Nott?
Yeah.
And Beau, Jester Ford.
Great.
Done.
Never mind.
Nah, nah, nah, nah.
It's gonna be in there, isn't it?
Caleb.
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-kitty.
Then the other ship was Ford, Jester, Bo, and Molly.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
We already got this stuff together.
Oh gosh.
Our ship's way better.
Our ship is so colorful.
Dingy battle.
All right.
So.
What?
I can't cancel.
Heading down the tunnel, the two boats, the width of it is just enough to kind of fit both of you and occasionally you have to kind of pick one of the other as it begins to pinch a bit and then expand.
I will say due to wait, unless somebody wants to actively paddle, the boat with Caleb Yasha and Nott will probably be taking the lead in those moments.
Yeah.
All right.
Although I think probably Ford I should be the way.
one paddling the boat because I'm a bit stronger than that.
That's why you're on the boat.
Okay.
Did you think it was for another reason?
No, I just, no.
Yeah, is Yasha, are you paddling?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So we would be at the front of the boat just going.
I think the back of the boat would actually eat up with me.
Bow,
Bound up, yeah.
Each,
A couple of splashing sounds that he just be,
because the oars hit the water,
an occasional crack of the water against the brook
or a rock in the center, you begin to maneuver your way
through the dark tunnel, just the low light
that you've been applying.
It gets colder and colder the further down the tunnel you go.
And while it is moist, you begin to see your breath
just in general, this lower the ground.
Terrible.
Jesus, Laura.
Literally 12.
I'm glad I'm back.
We are too, Laura.
We are too.
So it would take about a month.
a mile journey to get to where they said this would be.
So you have a few minutes.
Is there anything you guys wish to do, prepare or?
Oh gosh.
Prepare.
Prepare.
Prepare.
You got your holy oil, right?
Me?
Are we going to fight on dead things?
What is going on?
You have time.
Do we know anything?
I forgot.
Did you give me holy oil?
I believe.
Who was it?
You gave me holy oil.
Okay, and we were going.
And you're holy water, not really water.
Holy water.
I have it.
Which is like a grenade.
Uh-huh.
And what am I supposed to do with it?
You said it's something that looks even.
Okay.
It's pretty simple.
Should I dip my boats into it?
It doesn't work that way, sadly.
It's not, it's like a splash thing.
Water balloon with glass.
Okay.
How's the light in here, by the way?
The only light you have with the light from Caleb's dancing lights, which he's re-upping as soon as it completes one-minute cycle each time.
Okay.
This is just like that scene in Fescoe.
Love.
Which scene?
The scene where the ship is sinking and Oscar and Genevieve have to paddle to shore.
It was Gwynnevere.
Gwynnevere, that's what it was.
I remember Oscar a lot more.
Only Oscar was paddling in that one.
It is sad when ships sink.
It is.
Where do you?
Why?
I don't know.
So, you guys continue.
I continued down the river for a short time.
The river splits up for a bit and actually divides into two tunnels.
Which way are we going?
Should one of us go in one and one of us go in the other?
That seems not like a good idea.
I know something about sailing.
The right one is the bow.
the bow, and the left one is the stern.
Should we go in the bow or the stern?
Is there water running on the left to the right?
Does it look like it picks up current on either side?
Make perception check, with disadvantage, because the low light.
That's four.
No, it's, yeah.
Hard to tell this distance, and it's coming up quickly.
Can we feel more wind coming from either side?
Make perception check.
Wind.
Ooh!
Water!
Water!
This is just feeling for the ground in hair.
Heart!
So there's general vibe of supernatural.
21.
21.
It doesn't appear that the wind is picking up one way or the other.
It's approaching very quickly.
Is the general feeling of like supernatural unease coming from either of the...
Are you just...
I'm looking for any sides of...
I'm rolling backwards to give us more...
I know that we're going to be like facing probably some will of the whispers or something like that.
You should roll back.
I mean, the general sense of ominous dark future tunnel,
but there's nothing supernatural about the darkness ahead of the darkness ahead of the way.
about the darkness ahead of you at the moment.
Anyone at preference?
Any sound coming from other?
Do I notice any textures on any walls?
They talked about the north side of the wall
being more textured and having a pattern.
That being the what
gave them the idea that's where this is,
that's where the entrance to this.
We're heading east, yeah, kind of a northeast.
Well, we're in the lead boat
on Yasha's paddling, so Yasha, it's up to you.
I'm going back.
Yeah, I think left.
Try the north side.
I go right.
I'm just kidding.
No, I'm just kidding.
Do it?
Okay, so as you're pedaling before,
Yasha adjusts the oar and changes the trajectory of the boat
and heads it towards the left path.
Do you follow suit?
Should they follow them?
Yeah, I think that's a good idea.
Good.
Just like that.
Steering up.
Nice, carrot top.
We're on a jet ski.
This is great.
One of the most spastic rowing partner ever.
Heading down, the water path does pick up a little speed
and seems to dip suddenly before picking up
with the mild splash, but you catch yourself.
It slows down a little bit,
and you start seeing a few rocks that kind of break
the surface, and you kind of have to maneuver around
and one of them just push off with the oar
to make sure that your boat doesn't strike it.
You're not going fast enough to where it would damage
the actual boat, but it could list and get stuck on it
if you were to not be careful, but you kind of push off.
Thankfully, because you both have light sources here.
Yasha, can you use your oar to see how deep we are?
Oh, yeah.
It gets just to the very edge of the oar before it touches bottom.
And how long are the oars?
The oars are about five feet long.
So you'd be fucked.
Can you swim?
Can you swim not?
No!
Wait. What?
Well, you could get on my shoulders.
I'm not going to get in the water, don't worry.
Have you been practicing any of the techniques that we tried out?
Yeah.
I'm practicing one technique, it's just called wearing this ring of water walking.
Sure, that's good. That's good.
Try and true.
Yeah.
Unfucked.
You could literally just be walking aside, like, on the side of the boat.
You don't actually have to be in the boat.
Can I ghost ride the boat?
Excuse me. You could be stelting ahead at this moment.
Oh.
I'm going to gingerly.
Oh my God, please.
Yes.
Just ghost ride.
Barefoot ski.
Just barefoot and un-foot.
One foot onto the water and see what happens.
Okay.
So as you reach over the edge of the boat and slowly lower your tiny goblin feet, cross the surface, breaking the water,
shh, shh.
Go ahead and just make a general dexterity chart for me, please.
Oh, not good.
But it's dexterity, so six.
Okay.
This is fun.
Happy rope on waski.
So as you're so entranced by this, you glance down just in time to see one of those stones
that's protruding from the river. It seems to have come out of nowhere, and before you have a moment
to kind of punch off, it hits you across the knee and bruises the heck out of it. Your whole
legs are throbbing, and you're like, ah! So you're skiing, is now...
Oh no.
Oh, no.
All right, I'll try to pull myself back up.
All right, all right. It takes you a moment, and Caleb, you own and help get an out of the
up under the boat, but as you do, little waterlog, the water splashed over your face a bit.
Jesus. It's an intense water's going to do.
Because at that moment, the lights go out.
Oh, what?
And you watch, as soon as you pull knot up into the ship, there's a brief moment where
not kind of breathes and looks back with the smile and is about to say thank you, before
you see out of the corner of your eye what looks to be one of the stalagmites at the top of the ceiling.
Oh.
To attach.
and just float down and open up, almost like an umbrella.
Oh no.
Before it lands and collapses on top of knot.
It's just like the run.
What happened?
What's going on?
A nice shrug.
Yeah, with the advantage because it was a surprise attack on that one.
So that would be a 19 to hit.
Of course that hits, yes.
All right.
Not. That is five points of bludgeoning damage, and it is attached to you.
You now see what looks to be almost like a pitch
black and gray-looking spined octopus-type creature.
Oh, shit.
That looks from the exterior like any other part of the cavern wall,
but has these kind of deep sunk red eyes at the top of its base,
and it is completely wrapped around the top of knot,
and is currently just crushing down on top of her.
I need you all to roll in the ship.
What is it?
I have these miniatures.
I forget what they're called.
Oh, that's terrible.
Oh, that's terrible.
I'm dropping the cold, no meteorite.
How?
We're already in it?
Oh no!
We just started!
That's the best!
Oh, that's cool!
It doesn't count, it's on the floor, dude.
There are limits.
Oh, I got one!
Hey!
We're rolling one!
That's a hundred dollars!
Hey!
I'm going to one, too!
Two.
Wait, did you roll one?
Oh, okay, sorry.
I got excited.
All right.
We are about to...
The 20 were a nice little bit.
What is Matt?
What is Matt?
Molly, roughly, where are you in this?
Where are you in this?
I would assume I'm in the middle.
All right, Ford and Bow are putting it that order?
Yeah, that's good.
Oh, that's so cool.
Oh, my, this is awesome.
Oh, cool.
I like the cat just like this.
Now see.
Looks like a frog.
Oh no.
It's like a squitty thing.
And latched onto.
No.
To that degree.
Jesus.
Uh-oh.
All right, 25 to 20.
Horfying.
Nobody.
It's one to 15?
15.
Wow.
That's it?
We saw.
We did bad.
We rolled really, really, really,
15 to 10.
I mean, I did it.
Nine.
Hold on, 15 to 10.
Oh, 10.
10.
Oh, whoa.
What?
You guys are all single digits?
Oh, boy.
Oh, man.
I always roll shit in this video.
You really do.
You really do.
I don't know what.
It's just.
It's true.
It's true.
All right.
Nine.
Boat nine.
Seven.
Five.
Wow.
Molling.
Jester.
All right?
That's everybody, right?
Four.
No.
I rule four.
You don't have any initiative?
Oh, do I?
Oh, sure.
Two.
Okay, so you rolled a three.
Good job.
No, no.
Plus one.
Two.
Two.
Two.
Five.
Five.
Side, three.
That's it.
That's all the numbers in front.
Caleb, you're at the end?
You're holding up the rear?
Yeah.
All righty.
I got it on first.
So, first and foremost, Ford, you're up.
Yeah, right.
It has completely attached itself, and you can see, like, the end of its tendrils,
kind of these almost pointed, like, hook protrusions, the webbing, like this thick flesh webbing between each of these tentacles, that kind of form the umbrella type shape have all engulfed most of not.
golf most of night, you just hear the muffles from within in the little bit of the feet,
trying to disbelieve to hold onto the boat and maintain balance.
Jesus. Do I have a clear line of sight to knot an octopus fuck?
You do. Okay. I won't hit Caleb, right?
Probably not. What do you're doing?
No, I'm seeing your angle.
I'm pretty sturdy though, so I wouldn't sweat it.
As I'm looking, is it not and then octopus behind it, or is it enveloping him so I can't?
It's enveloped and is currently wrapped.
I'm going to send an Eldridge blast towards the octopus.
Go for it. Okay.
Not again.
Oh my gosh.
That's a 21 to hit.
That hits, good and roll damage.
That is eight points of damage.
That is eight points of damage.
Eight points of damage. Nice.
All righty.
Is that in your turn?
Yes.
Do I take any of that?
No, you don't.
That's nice.
My bonus action. Can I cast Hex on Umbrella fuck?
You cannot, unfortunately, because... No, because Zelda's Plast is a cantrip, so you can.
Yes, you can.
Yes, you can.
All righty.
And that's one C.
Well, you have, had it been that first.
That's on the next thing, right.
Right.
But next time it gets hit by you, you get to add extra image.
Copy that.
Okay, that finishes you go.
Oh, it's like Hunter's Mark.
Now it's there.
So, being attached there, the strange dark mantle-like beast.
Can it have disadvantage on strength checks?
I never said that before. I got it right.
Yep, there you go, strength checks it is.
All right.
It's going to go ahead.
It's not that big a deal.
And you watch as it begins to slowly crush around.
No.
Instead, its eyes kind of flash red.
And you watch as a familiar-looking orb of blackness.
blackness emanates from it, completely filling the space with darkness.
So at the moment, everyone in that boat is blind.
Wait, I don't think I can, since I have danger sense, can I be blinded?
You can be blinded, but you have advantage on dexterity saving throws against things that you see.
That's right.
Okay.
But do you see it?
So it did like an ink cloud.
Essentially, but a magical darkness that radiates outside of it.
Another one.
Oh, boy.
Going towards the source of beam of light that had emitted and damaged its ally.
Sweeps down towards Ford and an attempt to go ahead and wrap around.
Shit.
That is going to be 21 to hit.
These guys are really good.
You take five points of bludging damage as well.
Wait, another one came down on board.
Oh, no.
It's going to make us blind too.
We got to kill it quick.
All righty.
That brings us to, not. You're up.
I will, can I try to get out of the grapple?
Is that a thing that I could do?
You can attempt to, so I have to make a strength check to do so.
All right, I will push with all my little might
against the creepy, ooh!
Just a strength check?
Yes, a strength check.
18.
Ooh!
Yeah, that'll do it.
So you managed to break free from its grasp.
That's my action.
I can't see it.
Nope, it's just darkness.
You push it off of you and you still have nothing before.
You didn't even see the darkness emit from it.
You've just thrown it off and you're still blind.
It's a little off-putting to you at the moment.
Okay, I'll just spend the rest of my turn trying to figure out if that was caused by just touching the water.
Because I...
I'm really sure what happened.
So you throw the creature off, whatever's on you, and it's just dark
around you and you start just reaching out for some sort of sign of something in your
vicinity. Are you holding an action or you just?
I use my action to get at. Oh, no, that's right. That's your turn.
All right, that brings this to Bo.
Okay. I'm gonna go, ah, and just do a straight whack on it. Sorry, Ford, it's on you.
It's on you.
Ooh, that's a natural 19. They're after you.
25. 25 hits, roll damage.
True, true.
We'll remember where they are, it's fine, just leave it.
Just leave it.
I have to .
What is it?
One D.E.
That's not a good.
Six damage.
Six points of damage to that one.
All right.
You've, it's like glomped onto Ford's head, and the rest of it kind of like pulling and wrapping into the insides of his armor.
You just whack.
Hit it just above where you feel the impact Ford, but it's mostly absorbed by the strange rubbery flesh exterior of this creature.
Ow!
Did I hurt you?
No.
Okay.
Whack!
across the face. Yeah, I'll take the 16. That'll hit, roll damage. Okay, okay, okay.
It's like a punch for the matter. Does that go home about?
Kind of. Seven damage.
Nice. As you clock both this creature and Ford across the chin, no damage to you Ford, but you are a bit dizzy from the impact and the darkness around your face.
Yeah, that guy's personal.
Oh, one more! And I'm going to do Flurry blows.
Okay.
Oh, boy.
Essentially.
Oh, that's a natural 17.
Oh, that's off four, eight damage.
Eight damage, nice.
Yes.
Monkshire.
We are level four.
Eight damage, six.
After you deck the dark
the dark end of the cross face and forward,
you backhand with a full back fist blow to the side,
you see it almost attached and it's looking like it's scrambling to hold on.
That finishes your turn?
Uh-huh.
I'm definitely woozy.
Yep, that brings us to...
Sorry!
I'm gonna take out my swords and I'm just gonna try and cleave some of these tentacles off,
see if I can start to get it to lose its grip.
I'm gonna take my first shot.
I'm gonna stop saying that, but that's a 23 to hit.
That is, it's gonna well damage.
Thank you, man.
Nine points of damage.
As you take the blade and swing, you cut down pretty close to where Ford's head is.
As you cleave through, the body bit actually splits, revealing Ford's face, beneath
it kind of limply falls off into the water, slinking into the sledge.
He looks like he was being born.
Thanks.
Welcome. We should probably head towards the other one.
That ends your turn, Muld? That ends my turn.
All righty, that brings us to Jester.
Why is there still...
I can't see anything on the other side, though.
No, can you just see darkness.
But we can boat in there.
Yeah, I mean I will move the boat closer up.
All right, so make a strength check.
Oh.
But it didn't go on.
That was terrible.
Six.
Six.
Okay, you struggle.
It doesn't seem to get purchased.
You're too confused by this.
Y'all.
Well, it's just a lot going on in the moment.
You're trying to figure out what to do, and just don't quite have the gumption to get it
catching up relatively fast.
So it goes just five feet.
Okay.
Do you like?
Action or a movement?
That would be your action on that one.
Cool.
Welcome back, Laura.
Thanks.
It's fun, guys.
All right, then I'm going to save.
Mr. Saddam.
That's kind of what I got, I guess.
Yeah.
Sweet.
All right.
It's donuts.
That ends just your turn.
Yasha, you're up.
Okay, so, well, I guess I wouldn't know this.
It went, his went into the water.
You have, well, you have no idea.
Okay, I don't know.
Did you hear splash?
You watched it, it slip around knot, and then darkness envelop it, and that's all you know.
Okay.
You know the general direction of where it is.
Okay. Can I use the light cantrip and see if I can make some light in the darkness?
Oh.
Or wait, because I'm a light bearer?
You are.
You bear a light?
So you spend your action to create the light cantrip and you watch it flickers for a second,
and the darkness consumes the light. The spell has no effect.
Okay, so then I don't know if I can still do this as a bonus section.
Can I like try to slowly move us a little forward?
Yeah, if you want to.
That's an action to do that technically, so you couldn't.
You used your action to do the light can trip, unfortunately.
Okay.
Yeah, that's your turn.
All right, that's your turn.
All right, Philip, you up.
I went from being able to see almost nothing to seeing nothing.
And I heard not get schlopped in and then I heard some kind of cry.
So I raise up the...
Greetings adventurers.
Spring has sprung here in Los Angeles.
And that means it's a brief period where it's only 75 degrees instead of 95 degrees.
I'll take it.
And that means I've been outside a lot more.
Walking around, occasionally galloping after a toddler hopped up on juice boxes,
traveling a bit.
You know the vibe.
And after doing some spring cleaning, my wardrobe, I got to say,
looking a little bit sad.
I want clothes that can keep up with me and my son, but updating my wardrobe every spring sounds pretty expensive.
So that's why I wound up signing up for Fabletics as a VIP.
It let me overhaul my springtime outfits without obliterating my bank account.
New VIPs unlock major savings on that first purchase, so trying new fits feels way more doable.
When I signed up as a new VIP with Fabletics, I got 70 to 80% off everything.
It made it easy to grab a few new pieces without overthinking it.
And the quality really surprised me.
Everything feels premium and soft and breathable, but you're not paying those premium prices.
What I like most, though, is how versatile everything is.
You've got stuff you can work out in, but also wear out.
There's matching sets, lightweight hoodies, joggers, teas, you name it.
The kind of stuff you can throw on in the morning and not worry about later.
When I'm at home, my favorite thing to pull on is the oversized hoodie.
It's so comfy I could just live in it 24-7.
It's perfect for walking my dog on like a chilly night.
But what I'm out and about, I've really been loving the ribbed Johnny Collar polo.
It makes me look like I should be taking a high-powered meeting by the pool at the White Lotus,
but hopefully with less murder involved.
I don't know.
It's insanely comfortable.
I highly recommend it.
So shop now at fabletics.com slash critical role to get 70 to 80% off everything when you sign up as a new VIP.
Take a quick style quiz and be sure to select critical role when prompted to unlock your 70 to 80% off.
This is a limited time offer so.
Don't wait. Again, that's fabletics.com slash critical role for 70 to 80% off everything as a new VIP.
And now, on to the show.
Greetings, Adventures, adventurers.
Lately, I've been getting a bit more intentional about what I wear from day to day,
because instead of just falling out of whatever laundry baskets nearby,
I've been leaning into pieces that feel easy and comfortable, but still put together,
because it just makes getting dressed simpler when I have a plan.
Quince has been my go-to to help with that, because the fabrics feel elevated,
the fits are clean and everything just works without me needing to overthink it.
And Quint says all the wardrobe staples you need for spring.
Think 100% European linen shorts and shirts from just $34.
They're lightweight, they're breathable, they're comfortable, your legs and torso will thank you
and you will still look put together.
And clean 100% Pima Cotton Tees with a softness.
Well, you got to feel that to believe it. Believe you me.
Their pants also hit that same balance.
They're relaxed, they're comfortable, but still polished enough to wear
basically anywhere. And everything's priced between 50 and 80% less than what you'd find at
similar brands. Quince works directly with ethical factories and cuts out the middlemen so you're
getting premium materials without the markup. And since spring is here in Los Angeles, a brief
period where it's 75 degrees instead of 95 degrees, I spruced up my wardrobe with a pair of the
comfort stretch traveler five pocket pants and the heritage wash denim shirt. Not only do they feel
great, but I unequivocally look good as hell while wearing them. That's just science.
So refresh your every day with luxury you'll actually use. Head to quince.com

The glove of blasting and I'm just going to fire at where I think this thing is.
All right.
I'm dead.
That's scorching right for that?
Yeah.
Three strikes.
All of them are disadvantaged because you're blind.
Okay, okay, good.
So the first is 16.
16 hits?
Yeah.
Let me do them all.
Let me do them all.
Eleven.
Eleven, just hits.
And 15. All three hit actually. Even blinded.
Three plus a total of 13. 13 points of damage.
Wow.
All right.
All right. So.
All righty. Nope. It loses concentration on its darkness.
Yeah. But still standing. You can watch as the darkness
flickers out of the way, there's flames burning around the outside and three giant
sing marks in the outside of its rubbery skin, and it's kind of scurring it. It's kind of
floating in the air there for a second before it's going to go back in for a swoop against
the one who recently singed it. Before it hits me, I will say that I sit down on the bench and
just go, ah-ah-uh. All right, then it's your turn. Top of the round, the boats continue
further downstream. What are those things on the side?
Ghetto-Gat-O-Gill-Gat. Those are just rocks.
That's not a rock. That's fine. It's fine. It's rocks. All right. Top of the round.
Ford, it's you.
I'm gonna cast armor of Agathus on myself.
All righty, so she watches the moisture from the air and some of the water droplets from the river,
from the splashing of the boat, suddenly stick up and congeal in ice forms the outside of Ford's body.
And hex is still maintained on that bastard, right?
I can roll 1D6.
Oh, yeah.
Or do I...
No, it's not attached.
I cast hex on the one that was on now.
It only takes the 026 damage when you damage it.
Oh, shit.
Right, that's my turn.
All right, that ends Ford's turn.
Another one.
Oh, damn it.
Swoops down and is attempting to embelly.
No!
Destroyed.
I am a monk, it's fine.
That is going to be a 14 to hit.
Yeah, of course it hits.
All right.
You take nine points of bludgeoning damage.
And it is attached to you.
Yeah, that's wonderful.
Oh, no.
The one that's still existing is going to attempt attached to you.
Once again, not.
No!
That's going to be a...
12 to hit. Does not. That is a miss. Yay. Yay. Okay. All righty. That ends.
Things are looking up, guys. Things are looking up. That ends. There go. Not, you're up.
I will seeing the one on Caleb spin around and fire my hand crossbow at that one.
Okay. Fitching. Go ahead and make an attack of disadvantage because you are in melee with another creature.
The other creature that try to grapple you is right up against you, so it's still harrying you trying to fire.
Disadvantage. Does she get sneak attacks?
I'm adjacent to that.
If she gets.
It was gonna be good, 10.
10 does not hit, unfortunately.
Oh, boy.
You attempt to fire in the last minute,
it just kind of ships out of the way,
and you can see Caleb's chest exposed
to where you're aiming, and you pull it back and fire wide.
Off into the darkness.
All right, well then I'll turn again
and shoot with my bonus action at the one
that I'm engaged with.
All righty.
Disadvanced, right?
Yes.
So 20 to 10.
20 does it.
You do not get sneak attack, however,
because this guy is not engaged in anybody else.
But go ahead and roll damage.
I will still say, get off of my boat!
And I caused two points of damage.
Yes!
Oh, we know.
Six points of damage.
Six points a day.
One question, is Frumkin by the thing?
Because Frumkin is an ally.
I don't know if Frumkin is engaged.
I know that I've read that Frumkin can help me give me advantage.
But he's not engaged, is he?
Whatever you want.
I'd say for now, given the fact
that Fumpkin isn't a small boat
and the creature is flying up.
I would not consider harrying the empty enough to grant sneak attack, but it doesn't matter,
because that was enough to finish it off. It would already been damaged quite a bit from the previous rounds around it.
So as you fire your final crosswood bolt in that one, it got to push in the river below,
and you watch it just kind of sink below the water as your boat begins to scoot by,
begins grinding against the center stone here in the middle of the river.
It's just barely making its way around.
Finishing that, that's an end of Nosturn Bo, you're up.
Okay, is the one still next to me?
No.
No.
That one's been slaughtered.
on Caleb over there. Oh, there's one on Caleb.
Mm. He's still on top of him? Yep. It is currently attached to him around his head, yeah.
I'm probably not within five feet. Nope. There's about a ten-foot distance between you.
Leaporty. Yeah, that's not what I'm saying. I want to do some cool motion. I'm gonna try and
try and... Why do I get disadvantaged? Because it's a ranged attack when you are...
Yeah, but I ignore all disadvantage with my crossbow expert. Oh, it's right, because you've got a feet for it.
Yeah. So you would not have disadvantage on that. Okay.
No. Well, next time. Well, we'll say, we'll say you, we'll let you'll let you, we'll let
year old damage for against Caleb's thing, because I did work.
That's gonna be a lot of damage.
I forgot that you've gotten that feet. Go for it.
Well, wait, I don't even remember what I rolled.
No, the first one was high and the second one was low.
All right.
That's a lot.
It's 20 points of damage.
Oh man, I would say leave me in that motherfucker.
Oh, my God.
It's okay. I don't need it.
So, as you, with that one moment, as Bo's preparing, you managed to screw up.
one blast of the crossbows that strikes square into one of the eyes of the creature
and you hear this like, the strange guttural pain sound, is it still holding on to Caleb,
but it seems to have taken a big hit. On your turn, bow.
Oh, ha!
Continuing God, I'm going to leap across and see if I can do like a jump and a slap with the staff on top of it.
For the purposes of this, go ahead and roll an acrobatics check.
This is more of a parkour off the edge of the boat using the way to your jam.
Parkour, parkour.
Get it. Get it all tear. Go outside.
14. 14. So you jump, skip off the ground.
Skip off the ground.
Fucking moot.
Oh, oh.
And use that momentum from that with the staff swinging. Go ahead and make your strike against D.O.
Got it kind of swing upwards.
Yep, that's a natural 16.
That'll hit.
So plus 21.
I don't know why I rolled that die.
That's not necessary.
Nine damage.
Nine damage.
With that, you managed to slap that one into two separate pieces that go slapping and sliding against the wall.
Kind of splatter and begin to slick down the side of the cavern exterior.
Take my staff and I just wipe it on, Caleb.
Your hair's like, slicked back from the blunt from the impact and the wound it gets taken.
And in a split second before, when I heard a blunt, boom, boom.
Sorry, you're right, your head's okay.
I'm feeling pretty good.
All right.
I feel streamlined.
Yeah, kind of the like oil's working for you.
Yeah, I clean up well.
Ending Bo's turn?
I love it.
Beau, Caleb, Molly and Jester, you hear this like mild rumble.
Here comes.
And you watch as from the somewhat rocky outside of the two sides of the wall, these large figures begin to...
Yeah.
You knew it.
Shit.
and the exterior, and again slowly making their way towards the edge.
Oh, do.
So the action and movement that puts them right up to there.
Oh, what are they?
Move up to there.
Are those like earth elementals?
You see them covered in greenish algae and vines.
They look like they're made of earth and stone.
You're not certain what they're with nature they are.
But they're bottom heavy and they're kind of like crawling across the ground and pulling their body forward.
You're not even sure if they have feet.
Ah!
Good green.
So they're coming up to the edge of the river.
That's going to end Bow's turn, Mall Europe.
Oh, my God, oh my God, oh my God.
So cool.
Oh.
You did it.
Sure, I know.
I'm having, are they within striking distance?
Have you hard to rock?
They're not yet, no.
I don't know.
I'm going to hold my action until something's within striking distance.
Okay.
I will say I'm going to back up to the, I'm at least going to back up to the side of the boat where I'm far enough away from that thing as humanly possible.
Okay.
Well, that's where Jester is.
Oh, well, fine.
So like, uh-oh.
Well, I mean like the, like, yeah.
Juster still has the corners in place.
All right, finish your turn?
Yeah.
All right, Jester, your turn.
Oh gosh.
Um, well, I hate to use my action to do anything else,
but I should probably try to get away from the thing that's on the shore, huh?
You're gonna action row?
I'm gonna action row.
Right, go.
Straight check.
Or master.
Yeah.
That's a good one.
That's just Jester Strait.
That's a 22.
Oh shit!
You watch his jester
whee-ch-d-ch-d-ch-ch as it begins to just
whee-hoo-hoo.
To about there.
Path of the skiff.
Gonna go, go, going to go, going to go, going to go.
Just go-go-go.
Watches the entity gets to the edge of the water and then just watches it past its body, kind of shifting.
It looks powerful, but it looks slow moving.
I'm going to use my bonus action to turn around and go,
Eat shit, rock face!
Perfect!
All right, that ends gestures turn. Yasha, you're up.
All right, yeah, I'm gonna try to
maneuver around.
Smashing with their boat.
Go ahead and make a strength check.
Still, the only light in here are my four globules, correct?
Correct, which actually you had a little concentration check for it.
Oh, God.
Not so good.
19.
Nice.
Nine.
Nine.
Oh, it's dark in here.
Oh, no.
Remember the dancing lights concentration.
Can we see anything?
No, it is now absolutely pitch dark.
It's just pitch dark?
It's pitch dark?
Didn't you cast a light spell?
I did.
Well, but it got it out.
It got eaten.
But it's gone.
That fizzled that shit.
Yeah, it dispels the light.
Oh, no.
It doesn't encapsated it.
Oh, no.
So you just begin rolling in the direction in the darkness.
Would you roll?
19.
Oh yeah.
Without issue.
You can just go past and just begin to get beyond your friends there.
Sorry, the girls don't help in them.
We like crash each other.
Oh, no, no.
All right, that's going to go ahead and you are like to go.
Moe starts attacking the people in the night.
Caleb, you're up.
All right, now the lights go up again.
You guys go from darkness to immediate light again.
And behind you see the two creatures kind of dragging themselves forward by their upper body.
And I scrabble back and squish in with not at the front of the boat.
Okay.
Yeah.
Top of the round now.
The water carries the boats.
the boats further down.
You might be okay.
To about there.
I like those things right.
Eventually.
Nice.
We'll say here with the movement of the creatures,
actually they can't catch up
because you guys managed to push ahead.
Oh!
For the purposes of cinematic movement on this,
you guys continue to row as hard as you can,
looking back with the lights kind of push towards the back
to give a view.
And you watch as they are just failing to keep up with both Yasha
and Jester, keeping the ships going at full speed.
Eventually they both can stop and begin to back up,
heading back towards the vicinity where they had originally emerged,
disappearing into the shadows and darkness behind.
But we'll never know what they were or what they could have done.
Actually, I'm feeling a little guilty for calling them,
Rockley, what if he just wanted to be friends?
It's true, maybe they had information for us.
But you're feeling guilty for calling them Brockface,
but not for telling them to eat shit?
I kind of like that.
That's kind of great.
Well.
All right.
All right.
So, bye.
As the sound of the underground river
begin to fill your senses once in the war,
you settle and listen, and the quiet,
aside from the slow rushing of the river,
is all you hear.
Who's at the front of each boat, keeping an eye out?
I'm at the front of ours.
All right, so Ford moves to the front of that boat.
Who's at the front of the other?
I guess I am.
All right, I'd like you both to make perception check, please.
It's a crazy roll there, Travis.
I forget that, I can't throw it away.
That's a natural one.
Okay.
12.
12, okay.
As you guys are moving along,
Ford, mildly distracted,
partly from the mist that's rising up from the ice and armor.
Drink.
Can I drink?
Cold ice in.
Caleb, you focus off to the side,
into the north side of the river bank,
you see what looks like a shift in texture
what looks to be a mild, almost like a rock slide.
Part of the wall has kind of caved in a bit,
and is now pushing into part of the river.
Halt, wait, stop.
He says a stop!
I'm trying, I'm trying.
Action breaks!
Can you fight against the current for a moment?
Yeah, we're rolling backwards.
Okay, it's going to get dark in here for a second, all right?
But don't worry.
I drop the globules.
Okay.
and I cast, detect magic.
Okay.
So as you focus on magic, what's the range on that one?
It's only 30 feet.
30 feet, okay.
As you guys drift, kind of lazily down the course of the river.
And I'm focusing, obviously, on the rock slide
that you just described.
As you move in that direction,
past the rock slide, you get a faint,
a faint source of magic further beyond that rock slide.
Beyond the rock slide.
And you get a better look at it.
Oh, actually, you don't get a very look,
because you don't have magic.
And that's on one side of the passage
that we are in?
It's on the north side of it, yes.
If I crane my neck in the other direction,
is there anything on that side?
Nope, nothing magical essence of that side of the chamber.
All right, well.
in the darkness you hear, there is something of an arcane nature in the middle of those rocks that were ahead of us.
What do you want to do? Do you want to go scrabbling in the dirt, or do you want to keep going forward?
It could be something beneficial or it could be terrible.
Are there sides of the river?
Nobody can see anything right now.
Well, as the dark vision, get better view as they get closer.
At this point, we've gotten close enough for your magical essence.
So you get a view of this, not.
You can see on the northern side of it, the cavern wall that has kind of been slowly shifting through
millennia of mineral buildup changes into what looks to be bits of solid, smooth stone.
And you see a portion of it collapsed into what this rock slide is.
We were looking for a clear-ups.
Yeah, that's what we're looking for.
This is...
The change in texture.
We should go investigating.
Yeah.
This is it.
This is time to...
Should we park the boats?
Let's park the boats.
Yeah.
Does anyone have a torch?
I would prefer to keep this up for the time being to focus.
I pull out a torch.
Yasha.
Ignites a torch, the fire kind of burns brightly, and the interior of this chamber now is very easy to see the details around.
The water is still cruising by, as you guys are going to make your way up along the shore of it stepping off to the side of the river and pulling the boats up on the rocks.
They're not going to continue to be carried down by the stream.
I'm gonna take my old little dry flowers and just stick them in his gross, icary hair.
Do I look like the gentleman right now?
The gentleman on hard times, maybe.
A little less blue.
So you want, about a 10 foot, roughly 10 foot wide portion of this wall that has fallen in, you can see.
Part of the ceiling has come in, and above it's just dirt.
And it's loose rock and pieces of well-carbed stone and masonry that have been destroyed,
apparently, upon exiting whatever was beyond this wall.
Can I see what was giving me the magical, the arcane signature?
You feel something opposite, something other side of this rock slide.
Oh.
Do we clear out these rocks?
The language is needed to get closer.
Oh, we're right here.
Yeah.
What about you two beefcakes?
Can you move these stones out of the way?
All right, so both of you make athletics checks just to get through the endurance of pulling these stones out of the way.
That was...
Well, that's totally cocked.
That was terrible.
Athletics?
Yes.
16.
13.
Okay, between the two of you, about 10 minutes past as you watch your two beefy companions,
one of them just moving large stones and rocks, scooping him out of the way.
out of the way, some spilling and rolling into the water,
other ones just being pushed off to the side.
Question.
Yes.
Because the spell that I just cast only lasts 10 minutes, so somewhere around the eight
or nine minute mark do I see, you said it was on the other side of the rock slide.
So are they uncovering anything before this spell is gone?
I'd say about the time it begins to fade, you guys begin to see a faint purple glow
through what looks to be a breach of this slide leading into the next change.
It's a very, very faint, pinkish, purple light source.
Like coming from another room?
It looks like there's a room or a chamber beyond.
So not a door, but just a passageway.
Whoa.
You're just starting to expose it a bit, and all you're seeing is the light
and what looks to be stone on the opposite end.
But there is a gap.
There is about a 10-foot space between where you're starting to see this
and where you see the light reflecting on whatever this other surface is within.
And about then your spell fades.
But the torch is still up.
Torch is still up.
You guys manage to pull the stones from it.
from it, the final bits leaving just enough of a space where you can crawl through
independently, but you're now looking into what looks to be the center of a spiral staircase.
And remember, they said they threw like an explosive behind them, dropped even more,
so this won't be the first rock slide.
They said that the glowing orbs that made them in collabs were purple.
This all checks out.
Does that sound like a little...
You are in the right place.
Willowists generally fade like a...
like a dull yellow, green color.
Does this ring any bells, that?
Not particularly.
And as you begin to move it beyond,
you can look up inside this spiral staircase
above you in about two feet up the corner.
There is what looks to be a wrought iron cage
that is built into the wall containing what looks to be
a small crystal-like stone that is purple in color
that is giving off this light source.
Okay, Caleb, look, don't you want to steal that?
steal that, it's probably magic.
It's possible that I would want to steal it, but can I make anything out?
Does it look like anything that I've heard about or encountered before?
There have been different artifacts that have been enchanted with equivalents of it either
continuous flame or magic that themselves can emanate light.
The way it's affixed here, it looks like it's designed to just be a general light source.
It's a glow stick, essentially, yeah. It's a purple glow stick.
Good to have.
Let's get in there.
But it's in an iron cage?
Like a small iron cage that has it kind of bolted into the stone.
It's a nice sconce.
Let's continue on.
Okay, you have two directions, up or down.
Would you want to go up?
Wait, we're in the spiral staircase, Nick, it goes down where we're down.
With three, two, one, do you go.
You guys are, as you pull through and begin to find your way into the spiral staircase, it's about roughly eight or ten feet wide as it continues downward, also continues upward.
You're entering part way through the staircase.
Oh.
And we can't see around the bend to how far down it goes, right?
Is it an open spiral staircase?
No, no, it's closed.
There's an actual column in the center of it, so you have to traverse up or down to get
more of a view of where it's.
Before we leave this little cage, you said, does it look bolted into place or?
It's a couple flights up, though, you said?
Well, no, it's just right around the corner, like kind of on the edge locked into the central pillar.
You can only see as far up as the curve's going out of direction.
And it looks like the edges of the cage where the metal has been bent.
It's small.
It's small, it's about that big.
And it's pressed into the stone.
The stone was probably ground into various holes,
and the iron was put in there and then sealed in.
You don't know how easy or hard it would be.
Unless it lets people know when something crosses.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay, maybe later.
Let's continue on.
Which way do we want to go down?
Usually scarier things are down.
I'm always a fan of going down.
More expensive things tend to be up.
What happens?
It's gross.
It's gross.
It's super gross.
I didn't even catch that.
You have one setting.
No, sure.
Offensive.
We're gonna head downwards.
All right.
What is the marching order heading downward?
We're going down?
Do you need me to check the chops?
Yeah, please.
Yes.
So not in front.
On the front, who's after not?
I'll go behind not.
All right, Yasha.
I'll take a big swig of shitty appall.
Okay.
Who's after Yasha?
What about not, though?
I guess I can be after Yasha.
All right.
Jester.
Ford.
Ford.
Or after Ford.
What do you want to be?
I'll take up the rear.
Make sure kids are okay.
I will say.
She's always a good.
I was going to say not the back, but I will let the bruise a walk behind.
All righty.
So Bose at the back, keeping an eye open.
As you guys slowly step down the stone stairs, deeper and deeper still,
go ahead and make an investigation check.
That's cocked as hell.
Is that cocked as hell?
Is there a number up top?
There is, but it's now.
But it's, now it just moved.
Roll it again.
Well, that's a natural twilight.
This is an embarrassing twin.
All right.
So you guys continue down for what seems about 40 feet or so,
very slowly, very carefully, as not inspects each individual step.
Eyes lurking around, looking for any sort of signs of uneven stone,
of gaps between the masonwork.
Nothing catches your attention.
You hit the very, very base of the stereo
before it evens out.
There is a small kind of intermediate chamber
that's about 15 feet wide and only about five feet,
or sorry, 15 feet long, about five feet wide.
And then it looks to be a thin hallway,
about four, five feet wide that goes on
for about 20, 25 feet.
You don't see anything beyond that,
there is no light other than the torch light
that you have currently.
It's 15 feet long, long.
Long.
So as you exit the stairs,
It's essentially five feet to each way in the end.
Okay.
Yeah.
Uh-huh.
Oh my God.
Yeah?
Why are you cupping the balls?
This is where we are.
This is Rusty Tramone, man.
This is the shaft in front.
There's another, a longer shaft?
So we could go down that shaft if we want it to?
Yes.
Yes, not.
Oh, my God.
That's correct.
It looks to be almost like a five feet to each side of the side.
of you once you exit the stairs, almost like a resting space.
Okay, this is the ball.
And then there's a four to five foot wide shaft that continues forward.
I have no chill.
You talked to me two minutes later.
I know, I'm proud of you.
Has it been all?
I don't think so.
I have no idea of the layout of this room.
I was just going for a gag.
Congratulations.
Now it's been drinking an upward.
She's not entirely certain where things are or where you are.
Are we free of traps in this little day?
There are no traps here.
Okay.
Well.
Should we continue on straight ahead?
I mean, should we send like Frumpkin down there and see if it's clear?
Or Schmitt?
Well, Schmidt can see shit.
But Frumpkin, can my cat see in the dark?
I would know that.
I don't know.
Cats generally nocturnal, I would say have, I would, unless it says on the actual...
Let's look it up.
I would look at the Monster Manual.
I'm very certain, having grown up with cats,
that they are being not from creatures that happen.
Makes sense for anyone who have gone into that basement
and seem to go, hmm.
Yeah.
Cats can see.
Yeah.
Cats can see or something.
They do not have dark vision according to the rules.
Okay, well, let's go by the rules.
The rules need to be changed.
But they do have perception on vision.
Once you send you a little dancing lights,
then there with one.
Yeah.
Well, we have a range on that.
I don't like that idea, actually.
Exactly.
What if I just sent something that's on fire and I throw it down the tunnel?
How about I send Framken with you and then between the two, between Frumkin and you and me?
You know, we'll be in good shape.
Me and Frumkin?
Yeah.
Am I protecting?
You're just peeking.
You're just peeking.
All right.
I play, who am I behind?
Mollymok, I place hands on his shoulders and I send Frumpkin down 10 feet.
feet ahead of knot.
And I'm seeing ahead of knot.
Yeah, or listening and trying to listen and see through.
Okay.
So if I'm getting kind of darts ahead down that long,
like 25 foot, very thin hallway to the opposite side
and into the next chamber, what little bit of lights
making in there, because it's pretty low light based on a little
bit of torts coming through.
And it's almost like a lantern light at this point,
because only what's coming through that hallway is then spreading
out before you.
And you see what looks to be a raised platform about
foot high, it looks triangular in shape in the center of this room, and that's all you can make
out with a little bit of light is there, but the room continues on about another 20 or so
feet beyond that entrance before it goes to darkness.
So it gets too dark and hazy past that altar.
Yesha, can you hand the torch down and get it to knot so that you can go a little bit further?
Are you traveling in the hallway as well?
I'm 10 feet behind the cat.
All right, so as you approach the first bit of that hallway that continues downward, you step in, and at that moment you kind of hear this
and glance over to the right of you as you check for traps on the stairs, but not the hallway.
You glance off to the side. You can see what looks to be a scattering of holes on each side of the wall, by nine or ten of them at different angles.
And one of them just, you glance over before something comes firing out at an extremely fast,
lightning speed towards you.
Oh, oh.
Broke shit.
That's going to be a 26 to hit.
Oh.
All right.
You take five points of piercing damage as it looks like a long metal bolt
just fires out of the hole and sticks you right in the front of the thigh.
Ah!
Ah!
Fuck!
I found a trap!
Is it spent now?
Let me check.
I'll see if there's any other triggers for this trap.
On this trap of this floor point?
You jump up and down, make an investigation check.
You're not too in the area.
23.
22.
22.
It looks like whatever this trap is, the actual entire stone floor around you
is a pressure plate that Frumkin did not set off,
but it has not gone off since you've stepped on it,
but as you're investigating and listening closely to the stone,
you hear a very slow,
oh, it's resetting.
Oh, it's resetting.
I'm gonna go forward a bit
onto the next pressure plate.
Okay, that is 14 to hit?
Does not hit.
This time hearing it out of the side and being ready for it,
you duck out of the way and it sph-de-splinters off
and kind of sparks against the stuff.
There's many of them.
Are you going to tell everybody about the press?
Oh, God, there's lots of traps.
I'm dying.
We're just seeing you.
You're like really close to us, buddy.
Boy, oh boy.
Roads suck.
I'm going, how much further until the end of this hall?
About 10 feet from where you are.
Can you disarm the traps so you don't keep just setting them off?
Do we have anything heavy to put on them to hold them?
But they reset, though, right?
I don't know.
We don't know.
I'm on this one, and I'm going to listen to see if this one's resetting also.
Okay. I'll see if there's a way to disarm it or plug the hole or something.
Okay, go ahead and make a thieves tools check.
A thieves tools check.
Which is your purpose of zero plus dexterity modifier.
Should be plus six, I think?
Mm-hmm.
18.
18. Okay.
Looking at this central platform here, you know that there is a way if you listen for the one, as you inspect it,
and listening to where it's clicking, you listen for the holes that are clicking.
Most of these holes are not actual functional.
They're just there to confuse whoever might notice
that there's an issue.
Only one of them is active.
And you listen very closely and listen for the one
that's making the clicking noise,
and you quickly take one of your thieves tools,
or not your thieves tools, something on you
that can plug that hole, a piece of stone,
something that you might have on your vicinity
that might function in that degree.
A button.
I have...
Ball bearings, you stole from me.
I do have ball bearings.
Hold on.
I have...
So many things. I have, oh God, but I don't want to get rid of that. That's cute.
A vase.
A vase?
The holes are about that big.
Yeah.
Shit.
Mobbering, bobbering.
I'll take my brass doorknob and shove it in there.
Okay. There is a section of the doorknob that will fit within that hole. You jam it in there, and you push it and grind it in there until it feels wedged in the stone and eventually you hear, and the doorknock kind of cracks for a set.
What a great noise.
And there's no more clicking.
Apparently you have managed to break that device.
I'm going to take the doorknob back.
As you pull the doork out.
With disadvantage.
Oh no, no, that's a 12 to hit.
It shoots out anyway?
It shoots it anyway, but like haphazardly and then it breaks.
Great.
You're up on the inside of the wall there and that trap is busted.
This is my thing.
Are there any more?
I don't know. I'll check for more traps.
Two for investigation.
Two for investigation?
Has the party held up at this point?
You guys are all just watching this happening.
I don't know how to be in rogue.
I'm going to invest.
While all that happens, I would like to investigate the part of the room that I can see.
Is there anything dangerous or hinky?
Make an investigation check.
Yes, thank you.
I was seven. That was not a two.
It was a seven.
Hard to tell at this point.
Great. We're all clear.
Twenty-one.
Twenty-one.
chamber you're in right now.
Looking around, you can see what looks to be
heavy layer of dust across the floor and the edges of the wall.
This is where Frumpkin is, correct?
Oh, sorry, I thought you were checking for yourself.
The half of the room or the portion of the room,
the Frumpkin can see.
The portion that from can see is just at the center platform.
The center platform, looking on top,
it has a series of symbols on it.
And looking close, from can see they aren't symbols
that are drawn on it.
They're carved in.
Actually, the triangular shape resembles that.
The center hole is the deepest.
It just goes out of sight.
The other ones are just mild carvings in the stone.
Oh no, is this gonna be a puzzle?
I hope so.
We've done a puzzle on a minute.
Definitely a puzzle.
So that's what's up ahead.
Yeah, you guys are still back waiting for not to finish one.
All right, I'm just gonna run across.
I'm just gonna run across and pick up my hole.
Okay, as you're like,
Coast is clear.
Josh comes rushing past.
In the time that it's taken, the first trap has reset.
Yes.
Oh, God.
That's going to be a 18 to hit.
Uh-huh.
Oh, that is 11 points of piercing damage.
And it strikes you in the back of the calf,
like actually piercing through the muscle
and you stumble for a second.
You rush past the floor where not is.
No effect.
The third one, tink!
It goes off, another trap.
That is going to be a 14 to hit.
Yeah, that just adds.
Ah.
That's gonna be a seven piercing the end.
Okay.
This one catches you in the back,
and the side of your rib cage,
like under your shoulder blade,
and you manage to emerge into the next chamber
with the torch now, wounded.
Fuck!
But you've made it through.
They're both kind of sticking out of you
as you turn around and look in the chamber.
Maybe nobody else do that.
No, I'm gonna run.
I feel like this is going well.
As soon as she does that?
I'm running.
As you guys run through, it's still resetting.
I'm going for it.
We all going to go.
Who's holding on the money market?
I'm just following.
Who's holding at the back?
I'm going to, I'll hold up the back.
I want to look around and see if I see anything that looks like a value.
Is there anything that'll be a key later?
Make a perception check, the disadvantage because you're now outside of the main light.
The rest of you rush through, making it through, the trap is that reset.
I'll take that natural one and give another hundred dollars to get it.
It's going on that.
It's going for a minute.
Bo takes a moment there.
Looking around in the corners, it looks like this portion
of the chamber is more of like an anti-chamber
or something that leads just in the next bit.
There's nothing of worth or interest in this opening.
Just things to shoot you in the fucking legs.
Oh, whatever me.
Wait.
Okay, so you run to the first chamber,
it shoots out towards you.
That is gonna be, that's cocked.
That's gonna be a 16 to hit.
Miss.
Misses.
Just past you.
The second platform, not already disarmed.
The third platform does.
come shooting out at you, that is going to be a natural 20.
Oh!
I want to catch it!
Okay, let's see if we're.
So that's going to be...
No one is coming.
It's down low, though.
13 points of piercing damage for that one.
1d10 plus 8.
You can do it.
Okay.
Oh, wait, how many?
13.
11.
11.
You catch it just and it just embends itself about an inch in your chest before you...
I caught it! I caught it!
I caught it!
You throw the bolt to the ground and continue on into the chamber.
So you only over two points of damage.
There was a from earlier.
I am so sorry.
I do not handle that very well.
I was told to check for traps, and I missed many of them.
And I will strive to do better in the future, and I'm sorry.
And this one, this one's on me.
It's okay, now.
I pat your head.
You know, it's a lot of stress.
You're learning still.
It is.
And all these traps are different.
I wish they would just stick with the rope across the hallway trap.
And then the log coming down.
Yeah, that's what I know.
That's a tried and true classic.
It's classic, really.
As you guys now have a moment here to take in the chamber around you with Yasha holding the torch a lot, lighting up the vicinity.
You're now standing inside a tall, octagonal chamber that rises up about 25,
by 30 feet above you, a domed ceiling with abstract designs and symbols written in each
kind of pie slice of this octagon around.
We're at Burning Man, aren't we? We're at Burning Man.
No.
This is a great installation.
Yes.
You see in the center where all of these triangular pieces of the dome meet in the center,
there is a blue, a thick, 10-foot-wide pillar that descends about 10 feet from the ceiling,
about 15 feet above you. It's just square and ominously held aloft.
That thing's going to try to kill us.
Below that you see there is that triangular piece of stone, and there is no visible exit
in the chamber. Is that triangular piece of stone just raised off the floor?
It's raised off the floor, about a foot or so.
And how big is it?
It's about, I'd say for each side, it's about two and a half feet each side.
How wide is the whole chamber again?
The whole chamber would probably be about, I'd say, 50 to 60 feet wide.
Oh wow.
Wow, it's big.
And if we're just coming into the area, which edge is pointing towards the flat or the point?
As you're entering, it would be, from your perspective, entering, this would be the front end.
Okay.
And there's these two sides there.
And you just have the dome with all these symbols and strange designs on each of these eight pieces of the...
Do you recognize any of these symbols? Is anything look familiar?
From your brief life.
Are you trained?
This goes where you're trained in.
Skills?
Yes.
What kind of skills you got?
I got acrobatics, insight, deception, sleight of hand.
Okay.
I believe.
But I have that.
What do you have?
Proficient in.
Going to have to get back to you.
Perception, intimidation, investigation.
Yeah, there's a little dot next to it.
Investigation and survival also.
Arcana, insight.
Actually.
Okay.
Investigation.
Well, as you look up, first off, as Yasha hold the torture,
you can see the symbols in our shape.
What?
This is intricate.
Look how cool.
These are tattoos for sure.
Yeah.
I had that kid's toy that makes these you spin it.
Yeah, right.
Those are all those spacing towards Ford.
Are all those spacing towards Ford?
All of these are from Ford's perspective.
And they're on the ceiling.
Those are on the ceiling.
Let me just check for traps.
Let me just check for traps.
Yes, please.
I'm going to walk around.
the immediate area checking for traps, 22.
22.
As you slowly crawl your way around the exterior,
checking the stone, checking the placement.
You do see that each of these symbols
are about maybe a half an inch thick into there,
except for the center piece, which is,
you cannot tell how deep it is.
The center hole in the center just goes down
for a while, a moment you can tell.
And you said this was pretty big?
It's about two to two and a half feet each side.
If you will oblige me.
On the ground, just on the ground?
Yeah, just flat on the ground.
No traps.
You do not see any traps on the interior of the chamber.
Something was giving off an arcane aura before we came in here, but I cannot see it now,
so if you indulge me and give me 10 minutes, I will...
Ten minutes?
Yeah.
Yeah, take your time.
Can I do a check to see if I recognize any of these things?
Are you trained in Arcana?
I can use my mystical iridition to spending key point.
I will say because of your monk background, I will always say because of your monk background, I will always
allow you to go ahead and attempt it as well.
If the two guys train an arcana as well
are looking up with the symbols and studying him,
you are welcome to do so.
And I can advantage on this.
If you're spending it,
are you pointing it.
Are the symbols just, like, painted on the ground,
or are they carved into the ground?
Those symbols are carved in the ground,
those symbols on the ceiling of each...
They're on the ceiling.
They're on the ceiling.
In each octagonal piece of the dome.
They're painted above in a circle around.
21.
16.
18.
Yeah.
Okay.
In the focusing of intending to cast this tech magic spell,
you're not as focused on the symbols.
However, the two of you keenly together,
staring up at the ceiling, begin to make out
something similar in these patterns.
You don't fully understand it as it comes from
whatever knowledge is imparted upon you
from this entity you've made a pact with.
You, however, in studying various forms of the arcane
and coming into knowledge that isn't your specialty,
but knowing is definitely the specialty,
you're looking at each of these symbols,
and these are not classically used.
They're improvised interpretations
or specific retoolings of the symbols
that mean each of the eight schools of magic.
And between Ford and Beau,
you guys get to make out each of these symbols means.
Oh, shit.
What?
Whoa.
Yeah, so I don't know why I know this.
Yeah, it's like magic people code.
Yeah.
The monks were, I mean, people I learned from were like super into this shit.
Does that mean we have to cast some spells or something?
I think it's a puzzle. I feel like this thing rotates, and we have to match the symbols on the bottom to the symbols that match the school of magic.
It feels like the divination is like a full symbol of the star.
Yeah, it feels like the triangles down here.
It's evocation, right?
And then the diamond.
Yeah, and you can tell if you were to rotate it, it would line up that way.
It would line up.
Yeah, triangle to triangle that would bring the star to that one there.
Would the diamond be?
Does it look like it goes to that?
There's a diamond right there.
I'll go gingerly, touch the base and see if it moves a little bit.
It does not shift at all.
Is anyone on the platform?
Currently, no.
I wonder if you have to stick something in the hole
and twist it.
I bet there's a key.
Caleb is still going through his ritual.
Okay.
Can we, fuck it, I'll stand up on the platform.
Okay, you step onto the platform.
Moment passes, two, no effect.
Can I look down into that black hole in the center of it?
You can, although the light source,
Yash is currently holding, it just looks in like shadow.
Do you want to?
I'm Dark Vision.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, take the torch.
Take the torch and hold it over,
just to give you a better glance over it.
The hole descends about a foot and a half,
and then stops.
Stick your wang in it.
I will put my finger in the hole, actually.
I don't know how big the hole is,
but I just want to feel up there to grooves
on the inside or any sort of indentations.
Right.
It's roughly, I'd say about half inch wide,
so it's about that wide.
Oh, yeah.
Give my little pinky in it.
It fits inside. Solid, solid walls. Solid walls in the inside, yeah.
Is that how many? Well, it's short. Is there anything around here that looks like a staff or a pole or a rod?
Yeah, I'm gonna start looking around, digging, seeing if I see anything that looks like it would fit the shape. I'm also going to shout out, yeah, be careful the
Schifty three we're talking about an octagonal wall, a room when they got attacked.
And the floor around this triangle shape, it's flush in the ground, right?
There's no circle around the triangle platform.
Correct. It's just flush and set in the ground.
So the ground's not going to move. Maybe the ceiling has to move.
Oh, because of the thing in the middle.
Right. Yeah, we're not going to be able to turn the floor.
How do we turn a ceiling? Maybe we've got to go all the way back up to the top.
That's my thought.
The top of what?
Oh, this is the tower.
This viral staircase, yeah.
To see it from the top.
Old school.
We need it down here to need in and up here team.
And maybe a Frumpkin to communicate through.
Well, I will remember this.
I have a perfect memory.
I remember this exactly.
Does the pillar coming out of the ceiling
have a hole in it as well?
Make a perception check.
Yeah.
She's good at finding holes.
I am really good.
Very good.
She talked about them.
Wow.
Yeah.
20.
20.
She found it.
Glancing up at it.
The war is over.
and both sides lost.
Kingdoms were reduced to cinders
and armies scattered like
bones in the dust. Now the
survivors claw to what's left
of a broken world, praying
the darkness chooses someone else
tonight, but in the shadow dark
the darkness always
wins. This is old
school adventuring at its most
cruel. Your torch ticks down
in real time, and when that flame
dies, something else rises to finish
the job. This is a brutal,
I'm a story that emerges organically based on the decisions that the characters make.
This is what it felt like to play RPGs in the 80s.
And man, it is so good to be back.

The pillar itself, it comes down like a square shape
and the very base of it has almost like a slight curvature dome to it,
but it is solid.
You don't see any seams in it, you don't see any markings.
It's just a solid pillar.
It's about 10 feet wide or so.
It's 10 minutes going by yet.
At this point, yeah, as they've been going to look around it,
you said you're searching for anything else in the chamber.
That looks like a, that would fit in the rod.
Make an investigation.
Okay.
As you begin to slowly make it around the room looking for any markings.
I feel like that goes in the hole.
Don't fuck me.
This wide.
Yeah, the hole is on the ground.
The hole is on the ground.
Is it okay, okay?
Yeah.
You spend a little while looking for any sort of signs of grooves or where anything's hidden.
The chamber is solid and there is nothing in the room that looks like it would, there's nothing to grab onto.
There's no other objects in here.
It's fairly empty aside from this domed octagonal shape and this small engraving on the ground and that pillar.
Cana, will you do me a favor and draw?
Do you have anything to draw the symbols?
I would draw it in my mind.
Juster draw is great.
Jester can draw.
Oh yeah, Jester, please.
Both of you, yeah.
Just to get a rendition of the ceiling and kind of relation.
I don't think we're taking this photograph.
I open on my sketchbook and I start drawing the symbols.
Here, look, I made this beautiful picture.
You work so fast.
I'm really talented.
That's pretty nice.
Do you have a heel can't trip, do you?
Canthroop?
No.
I have some potions.
Did detect magic reveal.
I've got this healing spell, though.
Are you sure?
This one.
I have some.
I have some.
No, this chamber is further, far further below.
It's 40 feet below where you guys originally came through.
Whatever you sensed earlier would have been near where you entered.
near where you entered.
It was just the closings you can use in battle.
It was probably the ghost stick.
It was just the ghost stick.
Let me give you a hand.
I think maybe we need to see where those stairs go up.
Is there, the stairs are back through the hall and up, right?
Let's break these traps for this chamber.
One big chamber was no other exit beyond the stairway there or the hallway you had entered from.
All right.
I'll jog up the stairs.
Wait, wait, wait.
You're going to wait until he just are.
Let me, this is my chance for redemption.
Oh, sorry.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Can they break the traps.
Get a girl. Get a girl. Get a girl. Get a girl. To the front, to the side, to the back.
Disarm that track? A handful of ball bearings.
I can't, not a handful of ball bearings.
Thank you. I'll start working on it. I'm going to disarm trap three.
Go for it, so.
19 plus stuff. Oh yeah, no, the next trap you come up to and you kind of leap onto the side, kind of using your fingers to dig into some of the holes there.
and jam about three ball bearings, and the one that you see is the one that's thorough,
where the bolts is actually embedded within. And as soon as you step back down, you hear
this grinding noise, and the trap is pretty shattered from the inside.
Track one. Ooh, not as good. Six plus six, right? 12? 12. You go to go ahead and launch,
the middle one is still broken. There's only three platforms you've seen that actually
playing the trap. You've broken two of them. The third and final one you go to to attempt
to put the ball bearing in there. Oh boy.
However, it does shoot forth through your thumb.
Damn it.
It's gonna be a 21 to hit.
Oh yeah, that hits.
You take eight points of piercing damage.
Redemption is spooking.
And it's actually like, it goes through your thumb
and into your hand and into your wrist.
So you're like, boated through there, and it's just sticking out right there.
You're like, huh, the shock hit you.
You don't feel the pain yet.
You're just looking at it.
You don't even through your hand.
Nine.
Can you fix that.
fix that. While it's reloading, I'm gonna jam some ball bearings in with my other hand and try to break it.
Go for it. Go one more time.
Nine.
Not including the bonus?
Yes. Wow. You're having a hard time break and you're waiting, you hear the clicking going, and you're putting the ball bearings and they keep slipping back out. You can't find the right way to keep it in. You're too much pain from your hand.
She's too drunk.
What else I got?
One other one fires out towards you.
That's gonna be a 13 to hit.
Misses.
It's when you stuck out of the way.
You attempt to jam it back in.
Figure out now.
Are you gonna try one more time?
Natural toilet.
There you go.
Angrily, with your one good hand,
you take a handful of barracks and jam them inside,
holding your wrist there.
As you feel the inside, and then a spring break
somewhere beneath the stone.
All three traps them into second.
Sorry, two, six.
All clear.
Oh, well done that. Oh, my God, your hand.
It's fine. It's nothing. It's fine.
Just a little blood.
You want to deal with that right away.
Oh, ah.
Oh.
Oh.
Hey, can I keep that?
I think I could throw it later.
Yeah, here you go.
Thank you.
Thanks not.
Did she just pluck it a thumb?
Oh, that's the bolt.
Oh, that's the bolt.
Sorry, here's your thumb back.
I just put the bolt.
Big Lebowski.
You'll tell you'll get your toe.
All right, so as you're bleeding profusely from your wounded hand, do you guys head up the stairway?
Yeah, who's going up?
Well, here's what I think. I can send these little glovials of light quite a ways,
and I can also send Frumpkin quite away, so why don't we let Frumkin have a look and we just hang back?
Let's all, I think let's all head up in that direction, but put Frumkin first.
I think like Frumkin ahead, but like...
Ten foot ahead, it's fine.
I have a feeling there's a bit.
It's going to be like a levery or like a movie situation.
And we're also going to have to keep checking for traps and then we'll send people down when we need it.
You might need opposable thumbs.
Yeah.
Frumpkin, it's too soon.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Yeah, we start heading up with the front.
Fronkin weigh in the front.
Let's say 30 feet in front.
Good matter.
With one of my dancing lights about 10 feet behind her.
Okay.
Him.
It's your pet.
Miao.
So who's going up?
Everybody.
Everybody.
But who's gonna be downstairs?
Well, we gotta figure out what we got to see it.
All right, Jester drew it, we're good.
Marching order heading upstairs?
I'll take the front.
I'll take second position.
Already?
I'll take third.
I'll take third.
I'll take back.
Yash's in the back.
Perfect.
Yash's got back.
I'll get you some points back.
With.
From going up ahead.
Perfect.
So as you guys progress, spiraling up the staircase,
you come by, there's a little.
glowing purple orbits embedded in the wall, and you're helping Caleb come up the stairs,
vision currently focused through Frumkin. Fumkin heads above, curling upward, another
60 or so feet above where you entered. So 100 feet above spiraling where this base floor
you had already inspected was, eventually it emerges into a fairly wide chamber, a square
looking chamber. Looking for dangerous shit.
All right, as Fumkin emerges and looks inside.
It's a broke-style grand chamber with intricate designs and beautiful interior.
The floor itself is solid marble squares that are off-color to each other to give almost
a checkered pattern to it.
Some dragon layer of shit.
Against each wall, you can see the walls are carved to be beautifully intricate with half
pillars carved out of them and parts that are in set where our pieces once were set.
but are gone.
It looks like there are shelves in places in here
where things of worth were once set
but have already been taken.
The opposite side of the room, by the way,
has completely fallen in.
This chamber should be about 80 feet across,
but it looks like something has happened
and caused it to collapse inward,
and the chamber is slightly tilted to one side.
There's a slight tilt, a decline towards the left-hand side of the chamber.
You can see there are two load-bearing pillars that kind of mark the center of the chamber that lead up to the ceiling.
The ceiling itself is about 30 feet up, similar height to the previous chamber you were in.
Make a perception check for Rebgen.
For me, through Franken, it's terrible.
Seven.
Yeah, with the low light in this chamber, it's hard to make out any specific details beyond that.
This is what you can see is the collapsed opposite side of the chamber that has kind of fallen in.
There's rubble and stone and earth that has kind of filled the opposite side of the chamber.
There is the nice marble floor.
and the kind of designs and carvings to the sides of it.
Is there any sort of door at the stairs
that leads into this chamber?
It just opens up.
The spiral staircase just emerges into that chambers.
And knowing distant space,
the direction of North at all times,
with Frumpkin in there, am I able to tell how far back
we are from this chamber?
We're 20 feet back?
You guys are about 15, 20 feet behind Frumkin.
Would you say that Detect Magic is still cooking at this point?
Are we still under the 10 minutes from when I cast it?
You're getting close to the tip of it.
Do you my sensing anything?
Just the tip of it?
I'm sorry.
Find one thing you're good at in life and do it
for the rest of your life.
I'm sorry.
So what are you doing?
I'm going to scooch, well, no, I'm with Bo.
So I'm just asking if I sense anything of arcane nature in the.
Nothing in the vicinity of the spiral staircase.
And a retroactive question.
No, never mind.
That's not.
Okay.
I'm gonna pop a healing person.
Oh, I can help you.
You want me to heal you?
I mean, I don't want to impose.
I'm gonna cast another.
But I'm bleeding profusely.
I'm gonna cast cure wounds.
Level one?
Yes.
Okay.
Then that one.
She cast it on me too.
I did it on you too.
So that seven points of healing for you.
Time.
Seven points for not?
Yeah.
Oh, thank God.
Cool.
All right.
Does that help?
It helps.
It helps.
Still loving down.
All right, so are you guys staying in the staircase, or you're merging into the chamber?
Walking in.
Okay, so you all begin to make a way inside this chamber.
Anything arcane before it dips out?
Nothing arcane in nature that catches your attention immediately.
A 30-foot distance. Are you heading into the chamber?
No.
No. Behind bow.
Okay, behind bow at the entrance where you don't feel any arcane presence.
The rest of you begin to push past and make your way
of the chamber.
And once again, you see this.
Ghosty globy?
Yeah, I'm looking for Willa Whisp.
There'll be a perception check for you guys.
I'm going to go from that.
The eyes torch and the glombobs you have there.
And I'm dropping from conviction.
Okay.
Natural 20.
Yes.
That's real good.
Okay.
Natural 20.
Thank you.
Seven.
Okay.
You are also good.
You notice a couple things.
Okay.
One, there is a relief in the center of the chamber.
center of the chamber right before the wall collapse kind of covers the floor, built into
the marble that it resembles two, like two faces in one body in the center, almost
like one torso leads into two faces. They look upward. Their eyes are gone. There's
just like circular empty sockets where the faces are, and there are just emotionless expressions
looking upward. Very, very thinly carved into the grounds. The reliefs are...
On the ground. Looking above, you can see it from the side. It looks very strange because it's a very
flat carving. But you see that kind of in the center ahead of the chamber.
Are they like profiles or are they front? No, they're looking straight on.
Okay. Crepe. Looking up, deadless. Okay. Yes. And looking up like
lifeless. Yes. Deadless. Deadless. Deadless. Deadful. Deadless.
Deadless. They're looking up in the dead lips. Sorry, absorbing a lot.
It's okay. You do look to the right, left-hand side to the chamber. You can see all the
empty shelves and like inset areas where artwork would have been placed, you do see what
looked to be two kind of upside down acorn-style alcoves that are mirroring each other on each
side of the chamber. Does that look like that shape? From this distance you can't see.
They're open because they're maybe about a foot tall. That's just empty in the inside.
From the light source you have at the moment, you can't see anything inside of them.
Okay. Looking above you, you do see a set of chains that are hanging from the ceiling
that if you're to be affixed some sort of a red clay urn or vase of some kind that is just kind of dangling above.
I relay all of that, of course.
And looking across the way in the rubble, because you roll the natural 20,
you see a faint glimmer of something metallic that catches the light of the torch occasionally as Yasha moves back and forth of it.
You point that out as well?
I do.
I would say off of her first comment, I would send one of the globules floating up to the ceiling to better illuminate.
Okay.
She pointed out.
It looks to be some sort of a vase or urn type.
thing that is dangling from chains 30 feet up in the ceiling.
Absolutely.
How big?
It's 30 feet above us.
It's about that tall, the full container.
Okay.
It makes like a reddish clay colored to it.
It looks fairly well made, but nothing ornamental per se.
And it's dangling from a chain on each side.
And the like kind of lifts around it to inspect and reveal its coloration.
It was 30 feet above us?
Yes.
Is there any space between the ceiling and the?
About a foot path. It's not that much of a distance. It's kind of affixed to the ceiling right there.
And we can see a, sorry? No, you go.
Just saying we can see a closer of the dome with the symbols on them?
There's no dome in here. It just goes...
Well, we're not there yet. Sorry, we're just up the spiral stair.
We just, you're starting to enter the chamber here, and you don't see, there is no ceiling shapes or anything that resemble the previous chamber you were in.
It just comes to a, like, like, there is a slight curve to where the...
I'm assuming it through the collapsed tunnel. Right. Okay, got it.
Something metallic in the rubble, vase above.
Correct, and the two alcoves and the sides,
are the two pillars that kind of are load-bearing
in the center of the chamber.
Do you want me to throw something up at the vase
and try to knock it over?
No, see what's on the other side of the room first.
No. Just to clarify your description,
so the container is being held from above.
Correct. Is there anything coming down,
chains coming down, or not just two chains from the ceiling?
Just two chains from the ceiling that are holding it in place.
So it feels like that might be a trap.
Cool, I just start walking towards the other side of the road.
Okay, so as Ford you walk through, you can see the relief on the ground ahead of you, and there's that weird source of metallic reflection that Bo had seen from across the way.
I'm going to scoot up behind Ford and see if I can detect any arcane, anything before the spell snips out.
Okay, in the final throws of your spell, the source of that metallic shine does give a faint arcane kind of magical aura before the spell fades.
What kind was it?
For that one, it would be abjuration.
Yeah.
I'm gonna scoot around the side and see if I can peek into those holes, the reliefs in the wall.
The alcoves.
The alcoves.
Okay. So you head over to the side alcove.
Go ahead and make an investigation check.
16.
You glance up inside.
It's about three and a half feet off the ground and you kind of have to climb and scurry up with your small goblin body.
Looking inside and there is another clay urn of the same red color that's
set about a foot and a half inside.
Good.
I'm gonna get down on the ground.
I will inform the others.
I'm gonna go check out the other alcove.
The other alcove also contains a similar clay.
Three red herds.
And I catch forward by the arm, be careful.
Whatever is under there is something of protection,
something to keep us out or to protect something.
The little metallic glimmer that we saw, can we see?
As you approach, you can see what looks to be buried
some of the rubble a long kind of brass or bronze looking rod of some kind you
only see about a foot of it sticking out from under the rubble e there's a rod
is it about a half inch in diameter would you call you get a little close and look
down at it it looks like it can be about a half inch in diameter yeah what was what was
underneath the urn in the ceiling it's under the ground is there anything
directly to the street there's nothing directly below it's just under the
faces on the ground you walk into the faces yeah okay you go
and sit over and you can see what looks to be a well-carved, robed figure. Looks to be male on one
side and female on the other, but the same features, like two sides of the same coin. Similar
hairstyle, no coloration to it, but just kind of like a white marble relief in the ground. The
two torsers can emerge and expand on the two sides, and they both look up with an
emotionless face and where the eyes are. They're just vacant, circular holes about that big.
And all of them? As you get closer and look where the holes are vacant, it's only
only about maybe a quarter inch deep.
So they don't go fully below.
They're just like a slightly a quarter inch deep.
Can I stick something in these eyes?
Maybe.
Is there any way to see what is in the urns?
Yeah, good question.
If you come towards the urn and kind of,
I mean you have to kind of pull it out slightly
to look into it, because it's the interior
it's too hard to see from this point.
I'm gonna get my crossbow ready to fire.
Can I just like with my.
my sword just like a little.
Sure, you take your sword and wedge it out.
It shifts forward a little bit.
You look inside and it looks like there is ash in the urn.
Okay.
It's only about halfway full.
Make a perception check.
Seven.
Okay.
You see as ash inside the urn.
I think it's just trash.
It's just trash urns?
Yeah.
Why would they put trash herds in these weird?
Just garbage.
Can I try and move some of the rubble off of the bronze?
Odd, doesn't it?
Sure.
Seems personal.
Let's start shifting some rocks.
Make a strength check.
Let's be athletics to do this, athletics.
Okay.
I think that's a 15.
15.
Okay.
These start shifting and pull the rocks off.
The rod begins to coil.
And you start moving it and you kind of pull and you manage to pull it free from the stone,
some of the rocks sliding down and stumbling to the side, but you pull out what is about a
four and a half foot long rod that is straight towards the bottom for about a foot, and is in a tight coil to the very top of there is a small metallic knob.
small metallic knob at the very top.
You kind of pull it forth and it kind of vibrates a little
just from the impact of pulling it out from the stone
and then it comes to still in your hand.
I think it's a little bit, very faintly.
It's a spilling it noise.
No, no.
Swing it harder does it?
Don't break it.
You start swinging it.
It makes up sound as you swing it around.
I think that I would have noticed that the circus
bouncer looking in the urn did not get blown up
but also looked a little puzzled so I'm going to go over
and take a look at the other one.
As you go to look at the urn, you glance over at the urn
that Yashua just turned away from,
and you see this kind of glowing fire
emerge from the urn in her direction.
Just kind of, this small glowing orb
begin to shift out of the urn right towards her back.
I'm gonna, am I ready to fire?
You are, you have to make an attack.
One of my blades.
Go for it.
All right, I'm gonna shoot a crossbow bolt at that fire.
Go for it.
Natural 20.
Yes.
And that is.
That is a 19 against you, Yasha.
Okay.
Wait. Yeah? Okay.
Yeah?
So.
Yasha?
Do your damage.
Okay. I mean, is the sneak attack or no?
I don't know what this creature is.
It's next to what it is.
Wait, do I get it?
Saving anything.
No saving anything.
But you do take 13 points of lightning damage.
Oh.
Lightning damage.
I deal 16 points of damage.
16 points of damage.
Wait, did you double it?
Because it's a critical?
Yeah, I don't know how that works.
The dice are doubled.
Not your modifiers, but the dice.
How much does you say that?
That's 28 points of damage.
That's better.
28 points of damage.
Whoa.
All right.
All the dice are double.
So you actually take no damage
because he was holding his reaction
and as soon as it emerges, he fires,
and you watch the orb dissipates.
Oh.
and kind of the faint little motes of energy,
slowly shift and vanish on the outside of the urn.
Oh.
I'm looking at the other urn.
Is anything happening?
You watch as another one begins to slowly emerge.
Another one begins to emerge from the ceiling
of each other roll initiative.
All right.
Ah, here we go.
No time to thank me.
Thank you.
Wow.
No time.
Oh, my God.
I got another one for 826 LA.
No.
Oh, I will just swing initiative.
Oh, God.
Oh, man.
This is the worst initiative ever.
So you had Yasha off to this side, heading this way.
Not too far from there.
Mali, you were off to the opposite side
to look to the other edge.
Caleb, where were you?
I was where Yasha was.
I went over to look at her.
That's right, so you were over by Yasha.
Ford, you were over by where you found the object.
Frumpkin was?
Frumkin would have been by the,
I would say like just 15 p.
In the chamber.
Okay.
And then Bo and Jester, where are you placed?
I'd probably be in between Ford and Caleb.
Probably this.
In between Ford and Caleb?
Yep.
I was wherever those bodies were,
because I was kneeling down and looking at them.
Right, so that would be this relief right here by Ford.
So you're over that, right?
There's three.
All rightyty.
And you watch.
As Molly was, actually,
she actually had a save against the
as Molly was making his way over there and this happened.
Nice, child.
That one emerged.
It looks like a lightning corner on the call.
Emerged.
Another one.
What up.
out of the urn that you had just had one emerged from you.
That's my own urn.
It had destroyed. It dissipated.
And then the small mobs,
back to the urn, and another one begins to emerge from it.
Oh no. It's like never ending.
But now that I know it's there, it's not a surprise at least.
Not a surprise.
So going for initiative here, folks, 25 to 20?
22.
No, I don't know.
22.
Oh, wow.
All righty.
So we have not.
You get this small.
All right, 20 to 15.
17.
17, you can get it.
And you can get it in.
Alrighty.
15, 10.
12.
10.
10.
Chester.
Miniatha.
All righty.
10 to 5.
7.
Molly.
Roll one, let's first me at 2.
Oh, Caleb.
Yeah.
I love it.
All right.
The Willo Lips rolled 26 for initiative.
What?
Damn!
These are the Willowists?
This is where we walked in from?
I pictured them so much.
Yeah, that was the end of where you walked in from.
Little shits.
So for their turn, they bench temporary.
They kind of.
They what?
They disappear.
They're gone.
They're fucking ghosts.
I'm tracking in that.
Well, I'm going to that.
Aren't willow wisp like kids?
Aren't they the spirits of children?
Is that true?
Is that true?
Wholes have you heard.
God, that's awful.
That's what I learned into.
You would know this, but that's...
It's different from story to story.
It's not necessarily the case.
So the three willow whips kind of come back into visual range.
And one's going to be attacking Molly, one against knot,
and one against bow.
Copy.
It's Bo is going to be a...
Happy fun ball.
It's a nine.
Nine.
That's a miss on you.
Goes wide.
There's going to be one attacking you, Molly.
That is going to be a 18 a hit.
Oh, that's a.
Classic.
You know that feeling when you hear one interesting thing,
and suddenly you want to know more.
Well, that's the idea behind my podcast,
something you should know.
Every episode starts with a question
you've probably never thought to ask,
like why people do or don't like you, why certain habits stick,
or what everyday advice is actually wrong.
I'm Mike Rothers, and I talk with scientists, authors, and experts,
and I keep it practical, surprising, and fun to listen to.
If you've got a curious brain, come try one episode of something you should know
on the podcast app you're listening to right now.
The world of Sonic the Hedgehog has been thrust into a not-so-dark,
Not-so-stormy, hard-boiled detective story that probably nobody saw coming.
Follow Sonic and the Intrepid Chaotic's detective agency as they take on their biggest case yet.
This high-flying action-packed adventure will take them across the world, fighting for every twill they can fight.
It's one heck of a tale, which is good, because this story might be the only thing that can save there.
Lives.
Well, if that's all, I can just dispose of you.
Wait, what?
All will be revealed in.
Sonic the Hedgehog presents the Chaotics Case Fires.
Listen now, wherever you get your podcasts.
When the Chaotics are on the case.
That is eight points of lightning damage against you.
And then against you not.
That is a 22 to hit.
You take 12 points of lightning damage.
As these willows reach out and strike you
and there's a burst of energy as electricity.
Strangely, like, undead, life-sucking energy of electricity
begins to shoot through your body.
You feel your muscles tense, and your teeth,
and your jaw clench, and you break away and regain composure
for a moment.
But it seriously hurt you with just a brief gliding by your essence.
With the rest of their movement, this one's going to go ahead and shift around this way.
This one's going to go ahead and shift this way, and this one's going to go ahead and move right there into melee.
I'm going to move forward.
All right, first up, we have Nott & Bow.
Okay.
You want to go first, scroll?
Sure.
I will shoot, I will and shoot towards the one.
Is the one near Molly engaged with Molly?
It is, yes.
Okay, I will shoot at the one next to Molly.
Not good.
Twelve.
Twelve?
Does not hit, unfortunately.
You fire towards it, and it seems to just dodge out of the way.
It completely avoids the bolts.
It ricochets off the stonework in the distance.
Fire again.
Bonus action.
Not much better.
15.
15.
Eight minutes to just arch out of the way of the other one.
Both bolts just go wide from where it's position.
is striking against the stone, no effect.
15 didn't hit them.
15 didn't? Did you try and shoot it?
Twice.
Not, you're going to move you and stay there for your turn?
No, I'm engaged, right?
I'm just going to say, help me!
I'm going to die! I'm going to die!
That's a good idea.
Bo, all this is happening, what are you doing?
Okay, seeing not have a hard time, I'm going to pull out that holy water,
and I'm going to kind of like a confetti popper, like I want to write over here.
I want to right over its face, just break it.
The one right in front of you?
Yeah.
All right, go ahead and roll an attack with that.
Just straight attack.
To do with your dexterity.
With my dex.
To throw, even though I'm not throwing it.
Wait, what are you throwing?
I'm not throwing.
The holy water, I'm trying to break it with my hand and palm
in its face.
You're not proficient with it, but it's still a dex to hit with it.
Okay.
Water at it.
So 12.
A 12?
Okay.
That.
From here, my apologies.
Take a few occasions.
Holy water.
Is it a deck saving throw?
Just the desk.
That's a range attack against the target creature.
Yeah, I ain't gonna do it.
You try and smash it and just ducks out of the way.
Because you're just smashing it, it doesn't hit the ground and shatters.
You still have in your hand, but you swing with it and try and break it over this entity.
Then it just dodges out of the way. They're very quick.
Okay. Do I still get my bonus attack?
Because it was a ranged attack, sure off.
Okay, okay. I'm just going to try and back here.
I'm backhand.
I'll just know I'll let it happen.
I'll let it happen.
Natural 19, 25.
25 does hit.
Good, roll damage.
Ooh, eight damage.
Eight damage to that one.
Nice.
Do I punch a ghost?
You do hit it, but it doesn't take as much damage as you would expect.
As you swing towards it, it gives resistance to your fist and kind of numbs it as you punch through.
It does seem to react to the impact, but it's not quite as impactful as you hope to a swing.
a swing that strong should have been.
Okay.
You just punched cotton candy.
You did kind of, stinging cotton candy.
That's so cold.
Is that finished your turn?
Yep.
Alrighty, finishing bow and knots go forward.
You're up.
So I got a question.
You said 10 minutes on the boat as we were moving forward,
10 minutes for him to cast Detect Magic,
and then another 10 minutes for Detect Magic to run.
So it's been about half an hour.
I'd say with searching around everything,
it's been closer to 45 minutes.
Okay, great.
So my armor of Agatha's in the X is still up.
Your armor is still up.
They're both an hour.
So can I,
bonus action hex the glob the wispy thing right next to me. Sure.
There we go. Nice.
And you've hexed it. Great and can I take a swipe at it with the Waste Hunter blade?
Sure, go forth. Waste Hust Huttler. That is 15 to hit. 15 to hit. You hex it and as you swing with your blade it shimmies out of the way. Its light seems to flicker and move with sudden rapid hands.
as soon as you try and strike towards it,
it dodges the blow entirely.
Wow. Can I use all of my 30-foot walking speed
to run towards the door that we came out of?
All right.
10, 15, 20, 25, 30.
The one that was near you was gonna go ahead
and make an opportunity strike against you.
Does that mean I get to make an opportunity strike against it?
It made an attack that doesn't include you, so yeah, technically.
Wow.
There's a plan here.
That is an 18 to hit you.
It hits.
All right.
And it takes 10 points of cold damage.
Oh wow.
And you take 10 points of lightning damage.
Beautiful.
That's okay, that's okay.
Cold damage, all right?
So it takes, the cold does not seem to impact
as heavily as you would assume.
It does hurt it, but it seems to be resistant
from a lot of the forms of attacks
that you were throwing in its direction.
Okay.
21.
That hits, go ahead and roll damage.
And another eight points.
Eight points.
All right.
Another fist punch towards the Willow Whisp.
Impacts, but doesn't seem to strike as strong
as you hope, but it's still taking
damage as it runs past, it shocks out at Ford as Ford runs by, using your Sentinel
feet to get your reaction hit on it.
I've got that gold rod, by the way. I'm getting the fuck out of here.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, go, go.
All right.
So that goes ahead and ends Ford's turn. Jester, you're up.
Okay, I'm going to cast as a bonus action. I'm going to cast sanctuary or not.
Oh, oh, I feel so safe.
That's concentration?
It doesn't say concentration.
Okay.
I'll pull that.
Okay.
Makes sense.
It doesn't have that on the...
Sanctuary is not a concentration.
So they have to make a wisdom save if they attack him.
Correct. Or choose him.
H. Her.
And then as an action, I'm going to use my captain.
I use my cantrip of Sacred Flame.
Okay, against which one?
The one next to Molly.
Okay, next to Molly.
So that's a wisdom save?
Yes, no, it's a deck save.
A deck save.
That is a 23.
Well, it definitely saves.
Jeez.
You watch as it just kind of ducks out of the way
before the sacred flame bursts into the air,
hitting nothing.
You get the sense to all these attacks,
the things are very quick.
Yeah.
All right, that on your turn, Jester.
That brings us to Yasha.
Okay.
Come on, Yasha.
Okay, hurt them with your strength.
Okay.
So I'm gonna get a little closer to the one that's near knot.
All right.
And...
Point there with your great sword.
You pull it out, so I would like to rage.
Yes.
And you can use, so you can use reckless while you're raging.
Righteous attack, yeah.
Okay.
Which means you roll with advantage, but they get advanced on you.
Okay.
You do it. Yeah, get it.
And then can I...
Fuck, you know what you tell me.
So just, I'm gonna get this all figured out,
so we won't always have question time.
Can I also use Divine Fury?
Divine Fury, yeah, that's part of your thing.
So all that happens in the same time, too.
That's for the first...
Pack it in.
What that's that one?
Okay.
So I roll twice.
Yeah, you roll twice, take the higher of the two.
Okay.
Oh.
Wow.
Go for that actual 20.
Yeah, try it.
Try it.
Okay. 25. 25 definitely hits. All right, so you do the damage of your sword.
Divine, you're divine?
Huh. What do I?
Can you shake up on that by now?
Okay. The grade sword is 2D6.
2d6, that's right.
Plus your strength modifier, which is plus metafir.
Plus your range modifier, which is two.
Yes.
So it's plus five wherever you roll, plus your divine fury damage.
Okay.
Fucking muscle wizards.
Okay, five. Plus, wait, say again.
Say again.
Plus five.
Do whatever you vote.
Okay, so ten.
Ten plus your divine fury.
Oh, which is another D6 plus half.
Let's get better D6.
Where am I d6?
I don't want to.
Oh!
Oh, I did.
Okay, so 18.
Wow.
18.
So how much radiant damage is that?
Plus half your remember you know.
She wrote six.
Oh, and I have the damage that I chose was necrotic.
A necrotic?
Oh, so which is resistant.
So, six plus half my bavarian level, which we do.
Yeah.
So 18 damage, though.
All right, nice.
Nice.
So you rush forth,
giant swinging down with your blade.
You watch this burst of kind of dark necrotic energy just come crackling out of the blow.
It hits and watch it flickers for a second and pulls itself back together.
It's wounded, but it seems to be shrugging off some of the impact.
Oh no.
Ferely.
Okay.
All righty.
Do you want to stay where you are?
Bonus attack? I mean not bonus, but do I have a bonus? Can I do healing hands on?
No?
You've bonus, unfortunately. Oh, that's your bonus.
Yes. Copy that. Got it, got it. Okay.
So that's your journey, yes. That's my turn.
All right.
No, wait. Yes, I'm gonna stay there.
Okay. Sorry.
Alright.
So I know what these things are. Yes.
Do I understand what's happening with why they're going back to the pots, to whatever's in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the.
They're entirely certain.
Not entirely certain.
But you do notice glancing about that they're going to be emerging from them.
I'm actively tracking these at this point, I would imagine, so I can't be surprised anymore.
Right.
All right.
Can I scoot around the, I assume the clay pot is on the other side of that will of the whist right now.
I'm going to scoot around to that side.
I'm going to take my first shot at the will of the wist as I'm sort of dancing around it.
All right.
Swing wide with your first.
Yeah, let's see if this hits.
17?
17 is not hit on.
Oh, God, really!
You swing your blade and it ducks out of the way.
These are quick little fuckers.
I'm gonna take my bonus action and I'm gonna break the pot.
Okay, swing.
Talison hates pot.
No, yes, I do.
11 points.
11's enough.
It's a stationary creature, a stationary object.
So roll damage on it.
All right, that's eight points of damage.
Eight points of damage.
You bring the blade in and strike into the alcove
and as you yank it out with the blade,
you cut it halfway through the air.
the actual urn bicex sending ash clouding into the air around you.
And you watch as the willow lips kind of...
Oh, why don't we just do that with me?
That's what we do.
That's what we do.
Nice, dude.
The urn kind of clatters to the ground.
The top of it breaks the second half, hits with a heavy thud sound that's different from the sound of the clay that shatters in the ground.
That finishes your turn?
Other than I'm just going to take a look at it down below to see if there's anything in there that's one.
I'll say you have to wait the next round.
You just finished that rolling dervish action.
You should have thrown something at the vase.
Yeah.
All right, Caleb, you're up.
So Caleb does what that bearded dude in the GIFJIF does, going,
seeing that happen, and I cast scorching ray myself,
and I will send one ball of fire at the next pot.
All righty.
The one on the roof?
No, the one the other one.
the other one besides that.
One in this alcove there that's right across the way.
Yeah, and that is, oh geez, everything changed for me.
So that is perception plus, not perception,
intelligence modifier, which is five plus seven,
so that is an 18 to hit?
18 minutes, yeah, well damage on that one.
That's 2D6, just the damage of seven.
Seven, that urn just explodes on the inside of the alcove
streaking hot, scorching ray slams into the clay, causing the top half to detonate, the bottom half the clay cracks, and the bottom still remains in place. The ash kind of clouding out of it.
The one...
So that did not get destroyed then? It got damaged?
This willow's flickers out. It'd been heavily damaged already, and that amount of scattering of the ash caused it to flicker and disintegrate. But the bottom of the urn is still kind of holding itself in place. The top half scattered.
So that was just one, so I continue to wrap my hand around on a second one.
shoots out at the one of the ceiling.
That is a natural 18.
That hits, go to hold damage on that one.
Yeah, that is an eight.
Eight.
Shatters and breaks.
The ash comes cloud down, like the slight drizzle
of soft dust and ash.
This willowice vanishes into the space.
It's in my eyebrows.
Wow.
And the third one shoots up in the air and lands two feet behind me
and just goes, bz-th-tho-
So cool.
So awesome.
Three-point landing there, Caleb.
No, I'm standing, I'm standing.
Standing, but turn.
As you stand there, the explosion behind from the scorching ray as the bottom half of the
earth-thum ceiling, ting, ting.
Oh, shit, that's hot.
That was amazing.
I'm going to pick up the bottom half of that and I'm going to examine immediately what I got.
We'll come back to that.
Hi for everybody.
Yay!
That's awesome.
So we're going to take a quick break here.
We're back here in just a moment, guys.
Hold tight.
And in the meantime, we do have another wormwood giveaway.
We have a black wood hero vault that they're giving out this time.
No.
Yes, you're just a nice to include one.
That's me, man.
That's my name.
Keep your minis, you can keep your dice, and keep all sorts of things inside the small space here.
For all of you want to come over to Twitch chat to enter this, you can only enter the word once.
More than once, you'll be disqualified.
And once again, it's only for US residents and Canadian residents outside of Quebec.
But the code word from night is River.
R-I-V-E-R.
So come on over, enter that into the chat, and we'll come back with the winner at the break.
We'll see you guys in a minute.
Hello and welcome back everybody.
I'm glad we could join us.
Before we get back into the story, we have a winner, and the winner for tonight's giveaway is
The Most Joost.
The Most Joost.
You are the most joistiest joist, and as such, being the most joistestestest, you win.
So congratulations, we're going to go ahead and get that Black Poisonwood, Heroes Vault,
So, congrats.
Hell yeah.
All right, so, as the brief burst of adrenaline
has begun to fade from your bodies, your muscles tense, slowly being to relax.
The urn shattered, the chamber now still and quiet, no seeming flickering flame of undead energy or source in the vicinity.
What do you want to do?
Those guys were so stupid, they could have just broken the vases.
I know, I know, I feel, I don't feel so bad for making fun of it.
I feel like maybe we were hard on them, but now I don't think we were.
No, I don't think so either.
Can we look for her?
Can we look for her?
I'm desperately injured.
Do you want me to try to heal you?
No, I don't, again, I don't want to impose.
I'll try to heal you.
Oh, I mean, if it's your offering, I'll take it, but I am definitely bleeding from my eyes.
I'm going to pass at the second level, Kirwan's because not seems like she's dying.
Don't strain a hammie.
God damn it, really?
Really?
Double one, two.
One and a two.
Aw.
That's okay.
Good gas did at first level.
Damn it.
You still only got fucking seven points of fucking healing.
Fucking healing.
I feel like that.
I feel guilty for having means.
I was going to say Yasha, maybe.
Oh wait, I could have just, we could have arrested and I could have used hit dice.
God, damn it.
We can't totally rest.
We should just rest right now.
Can I dig through one of the ashes that urn?
Ashes, the urns.
I just wasted one of my second levels, y'all.
Okay, well, we can't.
We can't get going to be going to go on.
Still garbage?
As you and Molly's doing the same affair, I call before you end of the break, the base of each urn, the lower half of it is actually a metal lined bottom.
And looking on the inside is you're going to scoop out the ash and kind of get it to empty the space, you can see very faintly on the inside of the metal, very faint carvings.
matching the symbols you had seen in the previous room.
Which room? Let's take the piece of metal down.
Okay.
Each of the urns have a different line.
Each of the urns has all eight symbols in it.
Oh.
Also, at this point we should be able to see the things that very perceptive people saw,
which was two faces, eyes with holes in them in the middle.
In this room.
Yeah.
Should we try to do in this room?
Are the eye holes about the size of wheel cords?
Roughly.
I'll take two gold coins and put them in both the eyes on one of the faces.
One of the faces?
Two what gold coins?
You take two gold coins out and you place them roughly and they both fit into the eyes of one face.
I'll do that to the other two eyes in the other face.
Okay.
As you place me the other half as soon as they occur in there, the relief opens in half and you fall.
Immediately blue, make a dexterity saving throw.
Whoopsies.
I was not anticipating that.
For the boatman.
For the boatman.
Yeah.
Well, he always gets his due.
Mama put the coins in my eyes because I sure do not believe what I am seeing.
That's an eight.
That's an eight.
As he falls, I throw a piece of feather and I cast feather fall on him.
Holy sheds!
That's what the range on that?
60 feet.
Yay!
You're fine.
As Ford suddenly begins to disappear, the floor going out from underneath the floor.
underneath, this look of fear comes over the eyes as not just barely releases the spell in time.
And Ford goes from plummeting to just gently falling, and you just kind of glide down.
You look down below you into the darkness, and you descend.
10, 15, 20.
Bo just hollers out, hey, I think you figured out that puzzle.
We should probably put a light in there.
Caleb doesn't say anything or move at all, but he's thoroughly impressed with it.
That's not so.
Yeah, me too.
About 30 feet down, you see something rapidly coming up below you.
It looks like a floor or a surface, though it is somewhat amorphous and jumble that looks hard to see any sort of shape to it.
I'll get it's moving.
I will send two of my colleagues down.
Okay.
With your light vision looking down below, eventually your feet land, and it's soft and crunchy.
As your feet land.
You glance down and the smell hits you immediately.
It's a heavy smell of decay, of dust, and ash.
And you look down below, and your feet are sunken into what looks to be a pile of long, rotting clothing.
Occasionally your foot hits something that kind of cracks and you can see some charred bones that remain within.
Chard?
Yes.
This is how they clean the room.
How far down is that and does everybody see that?
It's about 30, 35 feet down.
I'm gonna take a rope out of my bag
and wrap it around the pillar.
Okay, so you go ahead and get it tied off the side.
Ford, do you see anything cool down there?
Yeah, there's a bunch of old clothes.
It smells awful down here.
Does anybody have weapons or coins on them?
There's probably my stuff in there.
I haven't really looked.
Look around.
I got this damn bronze rod with me too,
so I gotta get out and find my way out of here.
We'll get you out.
Just look for something cool though.
Can I throw the coach down there?
And also, pull the buttons off of the clothing.
As you...
FOD.
You hear your name and you look up just as a torch.
Oh, Jesus.
You reach up and...
You don't want to catch it.
Try to grab it.
Can I catch it?
Stop it.
Come on.
Oh, that's close.
Let it pull it up.
I start burning alive.
Do you have a rope?
A rope?
Yeah.
We already have a rope.
Can I look around?
Are you going down?
We're going down.
We're going down.
I'm going to go.
Make an investigation check.
There's a rope.
Caleb is scrabbling down a rope that Yasha dropped.
Oh, that's great.
That's great.
Okay.
Okay.
Twenty one.
We'll see.
All right, you guys hear the sound of shifting and clattering of material and bone-like objects
against each other in the stone size of this chamber.
You, four, begin to just pour through.
And as you're tugging through, the clothing that's here has been just slowly rotting over time,
just the material coming apart.
apart and as you pull it apart, you see the tunics and the pantaloons and all the different pieces of clothing that are in here.
Just kind of pull apart almost as your fingers go into it. There is no remaining flesh. The smell here. The decay you smell is not fresh decay. It's old, stagnant, long past, sealed decay.
Old magic. As you pull through, you do find what looks to be some pieces of silver and gold jewelry that still are either tucked in pockets of some of this clothing or against you see one skeletal wrist that has this really nice.
looking like a bracelet with a chain that goes around the bone, the center finger, but the bone
in there is snapped off. And the bone itself is still charred black around most sides.
Only a little bit of grayish white peeks through in places as you rub your finger over it.
But there are some pieces of jewelry here that's probably worth, you know, a little bit of
money. Because you rolled that high, you also pull through in one of the pockets, you can
see what looks to be a small leather case about that wide, with a lid that's kind of burnt.
And as you pull it, it just tears off entirely. Looking inside, you can see, it looks.
There's a very thin, almost diamond-shaped vial.
As you pull it out and shake it, it has a stopper on it
that looks at the rubber or like a coated cork
that is buttoned on one side that is built into the actual
crystal container's cap.
And as you kind of watch it switch around holding the torch up to it,
it has a brackish, dark brown, black tint to it,
almost like thick sludge pond water.
I would have gotten down the rope at this point
and seeing Ford examine that, I can just detect magic instantly.
It is definitely magical.
Yeah, what kind?
What kind?
Yeah, what kind?
I'm allowed to know.
It's in the book.
You can ask nicely.
What I would say?
I would say abjuration.
What's in the fucking potion, man?
I have to identify it to find out.
Objuration?
Okay.
Yeah.
I'll take some of the nice jewelry and stuff like that
in a little dropper or the little vial.
Are there any other door?
Are there any other doors?
or entrances or slipshoots?
No, it ends here, there's a pit.
And you finally reach the bottom after pulling through,
and you've probably gone through about 40 or so
equivalent outfits.
Whoa.
Does detect magic gone or anything else besides what he's already
looking through?
No.
Just the vial that he discovered.
So everybody else was resting up top while.
Yeah, short rest.
Is that okay?
Can we do that?
If you guys want to take a short rest, take about an hour or so
to take a moment, take a breather.
Can you use your hit dice?
Oh, an hour.
It's okay because I don't get my spells back with rest, so that's really good that I used it and everything.
I appreciate it.
Ford, hold that up for me so I can tell you what it is.
All right, I will spend the next ten minutes.
Okay.
You're sitting in front of me and me looking at it.
You guys haven't taken a short rest yet.
No, they've taken a short rest.
You can go upstairs if you want to...
I'm going to tell you what it is now.
You can tell me what it is now.
Okay, so ten minutes that takes.
Okay.
Identify.
All right, so that is a...
You do if you use your head.
It's a potion of necrotic resistance.
Well, I don't have it.
You'll have it.
You go short rest.
When you drink this potion, you gave resistance
to the necrotic damage for one hour.
Nice.
Yeah, we use one.
Cool.
Whenever we get done with a short rest,
can both start kind of peeking through
and kind of digging away at the collapse entrance into that tunnel?
Okay.
Make an athletics check.
I sewed my thumb back on.
Athletics.
Okay, so 10 minutes pass.
You guys climb up up up up.
Okay, so you guys head up and join.
The rest of them are going to be resting for the next 45 or so minutes.
You can join them if you wanted them to wait for you as well.
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
Recovery.
While you guys are finishing that up, Beau,
starts rummaging through the rubble.
Wasn't good.
Six.
Slow, slow rolling.
You spend about 30 minutes or so.
and you maybe get about two feet into the rubble and you're not sure how far back it goes
and a lot of the stones now you're getting to are too big for you to move.
Is there, was there like a little crawl space at the top that we could crawl through?
No, the ceiling caved in on that side.
Okay. Do one? Do another one.
Well, it's just me and I rolled shitty.
So you guys have all taken your time as a short rest.
Yeah, and also we've also discovered that Ashley has more dice than Laura, apparently.
No. I don't.
What is this?
What is this?
Can't take box of ice?
Listen, she has a whole duffel bed.
Yeah, but she doesn't give them up third.
These are all active for tonight.
Listen, I like to have all my options.
Exactly.
Yeah.
This is terrible.
It's not all my fault.
That's a fraud.
I believe in you.
This is fine.
This is fine.
Thank you.
You got your cram crack.
She just needs better organization.
I need better organization.
You gotta divide them out.
All righty.
Shall we make our way back downstairs to see what this rod does in that little hole?
I thought we were supposed to turn the ceiling from up here, no?
How big of these little base doesn't have the relief of the 12?
They're about that big in the bottom.
I think the cord scum is going to stick in the hole and move the whole room or something.
The eyes were for uncovering all that death underneath our feet.
I mean we can, the ceiling is through here and it's
blocked by a bunch of rubble. We can try and dig through it if we think some should be up there.
No, we should just use the stairs.
All right.
So what are you guys doing?
Yeah, we're gonna go back down the stairs.
We can try to move some of the rubble.
I've been...
I've been...
So you're taking the rod and you guys are heading downstairs?
You're taking the bowls as well?
I'm leaving you. So you have the three urn bases.
Okay?
Clean them off a bit.
Ford, you can, of course,
Of course, stick that thing in the holes in that bottom room if you want, but if you like,
my man Schmidt could do it with little risk to the rest of us, if you like.
Sure, yeah.
I think that's a great idea.
Yeah, good one shot.
So we should all stand back.
Yeah, better safe than so.
Do we know which way we're turning everything now?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, everybody knows it already.
I don't know.
That seems like they know.
They decide it without us.
But like, why did you decide the way that you're saying it?
Well, look here, now that we're back peering to the doorway at this, we have a star on
that corner, and if you rotate, well, we don't know what we're rotating.
We're hoping that we'll get it to turn.
We think if we put this stuff, if Schmidt puts the staff in, yeah.
Correct, it goes there.
We're saying that's the idea because there's a diamond to a diamond and a star to a star and
a triangle of dots to that triangle.
Yeah, I like the way you guys think that sounds like a smart.
So smart.
Well, I bumped up to 20.
So that's evocation, you guys, and divination and necromancy.
Edgabation.
So wait, wait, wait, divination, evocation, necromancy.
That's dead things, good things, and in between things.
And elemental things, right? Isn't evocation?
Evocation is destruction.
Fire, lightning.
It's killing.
No.
As you guys, descend in the staircase.
Oh, no.
Find your way to the base floor.
Yeah.
You head to the hallway where you had previously disabled
the traps and carefully step across each threshold
without issue.
They still remain disabled.
I didn't.
You make your way into the central octagonal chamber.
What would you like to do?
I'm casting, in an instant, unseen servant.
Schmidt is here with us.
Schmidt appears unseen.
Fjord, I'm sorry.
Hold out your magic wetset there.
And I commend if you were to take.
I command Fjord to give that to Schmidt,
takes it.
I refuse your command, and I give it to Schmidt when the spell runs out.
Okay.
And I ask Schmidt to insert the spirally step
into the Laura Bailey hole in the center of the dais.
All right.
As you watch as the rod gingerly drifts over to the center place,
slips in, locks into place.
Yeah.
Something bad might happen once we turn this, or just be on guard.
It is true. That's why we're hanging back behind the door.
Do you think we should go clockwise or counterclockwise?
Yeah, that was my question.
Counter-clockwise?
Counter-clockwise?
Shmits.
Schmidt, please revolve that step, counter-clockwise, please?
Nothing moves.
Well, try it clockwise, then, Schmidt.
Nothing moves.
Well, that's a lot of bollocks, then.
Maybe it's got to be a real person.
Hmm.
Maybe you have to cast a spell that has to do with the class of magic.
I've got an idea.
I'm going to start rocking upstairs.
Okay, rocking upstairs?
I'm walking upstairs.
I'm going to join Molly.
I think someone needs to be upstairs.
You guys do.
And Molly, you have both things.
I just want to be second.
I don't know.
All right, so Bo and Molly head back up the stairs.
I'm going to take a look at that purple.
Is there only one of those little purple glowing rocks that seems to be creating like?
As you look going through, you see there are a few other
few other stone cages that have been open and left empty, that is one that has not been removed.
I'm going to open it and I will, I'm going to poke at it to see if it seems trapped or anything.
Okay, make an investigation check.
All right.
16.
Does not appear to be trapped.
I'm going to open it and grab the stone out.
Make a strength check.
Just try and wedge it from the stone it's attached to.
That's a six.
Stop budging.
Your lithe-teafling form is not quite.
quite sturdy enough to pull it from the stone.
Dance it out of there.
Bo?
Yeah.
Can you punch this?
I got you one better.
I'll shove in my staff and kind of push against the pillar
and kind of use it as leverage.
See if I can pry it open.
Okay.
Yeah, I'll give you that, go and make a dexterity check.
Okay.
Finding the proper point of leverage to push it out.
Oh, naturally teens.
Because it is at the pillar center.
There is enough.
Twenty-two.
the metal actually unhinges and the stone kind of plummetes out. You catch it.
You see this, it's like a simple, sorry, it's like a simple tool.
Sorry I drooled a little. Is that your new nickname?
What? Simple tool. You know what? That's fair. I'll take that. Well, you did do this, I won't tell anybody.
It was a good jab.
We walked back down with it.
Mm-hmm.
Boer retrieved this maybe. What?
What? We've got a glowing rock.
I'm gonna put it in the room, see if anything happens.
No reaction?
Well, I've got these bowls.
I'm gonna put the bowls gingerly.
I'm gonna put one of the bowls on one of the symbols.
See what happens.
Okay, which symbol?
Um, put it in the middle of the star.
Okay.
The place in the middle of the star.
The metal bowl says there are the fine engravings
of all the symbols in the inside of each bowl.
Don't seem to react.
I'm gonna try and move the bowl to match the engravings
in the ceiling.
Okay. You have three bowls and you have, so you move, each bowl contains all eight symbols
in the inside, so it's hard to match.
Cast the spell on one of the bowls.
Why don't we try a person to use the rod first before we start wasting spells?
Yeah, okay, I'll walk up and I'll grab the rod.
You're in a weak, should we use a strong person?
The rod doesn't shift.
It doesn't move.
You move the other way and it kind of comes out.
We have to put it back in and lock it into place, but it doesn't seem to shift or move.
What's at the top of the rod again at the top of that little spiral?
It's just a small little metallic knob at the end.
I'm going to examine it. Anything interesting about it? Just a small metallic knob?
Best you can look at it. It doesn't have any markings on or anything unique. It's just a solid round knob.
Like a lightning rod?
Yeah, sure. You're strong. Why don't you go try and twist the thing?
Alright, I don't give it a try.
Spend a good two minutes shifting on the rod the opposite direction where it locks.
Do we think we need to cast unique spells into those bowls?
One for each of the three schools of magic, which is what Jester said.
We heard you. We heard you. No, it's fine.
I'm just trying to figure out how do you cast necrotic damage on a bowl?
I don't know. I could just inflict wounds on it or something or pull the dead on the bowl.
You want to inflict wounds on one of them?
Yeah, well no, I'm going to use a camera.
because it's other.
So I'm going to Toad on...
What is it? Evocation?
Necrotic...
Devination and evocation.
So I'll try to Toll the Dead on one of the Bowls.
The one that has...
The diamond. The one that is sitting on the diamond.
Right. Okay.
So you cast Toll the Dead. You watch as kind of the dark arcane energy
from Toledo begins to gather around the hand of Jester.
And as you release the spell, you watch this burst of necrotic energy siphon back
and immediately attach itself to the very top of this metallic rock.
Yeah, good girl, yeah.
It's absorbed.
And there's a moment of pause before you feel.
Let's do the other two.
Wait, is it turning?
You hear shifting of stone.
Yeah, the other two.
Nice.
This faint slithering sound begins to fill the chase.
Other two, or maybe not.
Other two.
The slithering stops.
Okay.
Oh shit!
Unless we're releasing two others.
You watch, as your eyes just kept something shift above you, that large square pillar that was locked in the ceiling, that dome underneath it seems to have opened up.
And you watch as a strange, translucent, cube-like creature comes descending from the center,
No!
No!
I need you guys all rolling.
Pick a little the arm of our killer!
I don't know.
I think we're romantic, right?
Yeah.
Oh, shit.
Wait, if we had to pick the different kind of magic with a different monster?
I don't know.
Maybe it's a trial, maybe we have to fight all of them.
We might need to do all three at the same time.
Like Scott Coole-Groo, but...
Oh, yeah, do all of it.
Guys, I'm gonna use my boots in this.
See, this is why I shouldn't have used my spats!
No, no, no, no, no more dick jokes. Focus on the cube.
No more the dick joke!
Everything has a dick joke with you, Laura.
All right, guys.
So, let me pull out Latin's cube stat block here,
and this is dangerous.
That is a super low initiative.
That is a zero initiative for the July.
Thank God.
Four minus four.
Oh my God.
So initiative 25 to 20.
20.
Nice, Kaila coming around finally.
Inchester.
All righty.
20 to 15.
Crickets.
20 to 15?
Yes.
15 to 10.
12. 12.
Oh.
All right.
Yes.
Sentinel bitches.
All righty.
Bonyasha.
10 to 15.
I'm sorry 10 to 5.
7.
8.
7.
All right.
I don't know.
You die.
Molly, and then we have not 10.
That's like to suck you up.
I know.
It's crap.
But I don't know how to defeat them.
It's real bad.
I don't know.
All righty, so as it slid into the ground, it seems to have completely consumed the rod.
And immediately begins to move its way forward ever so slowly in your direction of the cluster group.
Oh, boy.
That being the case, top of the round, we have Caleb, your first.
Oh.
Do you know about gelatinous curious?
And by the way, where do you want a
hallway?
Frumpkin or?
Frumpkin can be, oh geez, right behind me, it's fine.
There you go.
What are you doing?
I'm going to use all my movement to move back towards the doorway as best I can.
Over here?
Yeah.
And as I am doing so, I'm pulling a small clay cat paw out of my hand.
Oh, what?
And I mutter a few arcane words and I cast,
Maximilian's earthen grasp. What is that?
That's the first. And a wad of soil forms out of the ground in a cats.
Paul just rises up and reaches out and swats at the gelatinous cube.
All righty, so you're doing, so it's make a strength saving throw.
Yeah, that's correct. Against my DC of 15.
Natural 1. Yeah.
Yeah, five.
Right?
On a field save, the target takes two.
Glutgeoning damage.
Good for the people.
So that is seven and it's restrained for the spell's duration.
So it attacks a disadvantage and you attack advantage.
Right?
Seems like...
There is a cat's, a giant,
for how long?
It's slurbed and cat's claw holding it on the corner.
That is true.
It can be restrained that thing?
This is brand new to me.
Can it?
By magic, maybe.
Yeah, magic.
It holds it in place.
So at zero speed doesn't go anywhere?
A medium hand in the country?
Restrained.
It's the restrained condition.
Correct.
Yep.
How long is the spell's duration?
One minute.
Is it concentration?
Yes!
Yes, it is.
Oh, my God.
Don't break that concentration.
Don't break that concentration.
Don't break it.
It's like holding the Cuban place's claws kind of dug into it made of earth and dirt and
However, question, is there any light in here at all?
Aside from the torch that Yasha has?
No.
Oh, okay.
So there's a dim light then from the torch.
Because those my globules are gone.
Yes, they are very gone.
Well, the torch has been your main light source since you.
Yeah, that's correct, that's correct.
Thank you.
Okay.
And then I sit on the corner.
Yeah.
Concentrate real hard.
I'm checking in that.
I'm checking still back here.
Oh, right.
Frumpkin will run towards Jester and get between.
Get between.
Just your head out?
Get between.
Where's not?
Where's not?
Not is over there.
Yeah, this is a lot.
Frunken will stand between Jester and the Cube.
Oh, I've always wanted to do this.
Between Jester and the Cube, yeah.
All right.
That ends get into the turn.
Jester, you're up.
I'm going to gleam.
Is this concerned?
Is this considered a box-drawn?
No, it is not.
It is not.
It is considered news.
It's so good.
It is definitely considered news.
It is definitely considered news.
Backup away from it.
All right.
Killed the box gesture.
And I'm going to use the sacred flame cantrip.
Because I figure it's not very dexterous.
Everybody has a damage on attack rolls?
That is an N.
A3.
So what's the damage on there?
It's 1d8 radiant damage.
Go for it.
Six points in radio damage.
Six points in radio damage.
As this flame burst at the side of it, part of it kind of it kind of jello wiggles first.
second, but.
It looked like it hurt it, maybe, but it just looks like it's a big gelatinous cube.
The radiance didn't seem to have like an extra effect then.
No, it did not, okay.
Okay.
All right, does that finish your turn?
Gillette's cube, Jesus.
One of my favorite table marks.
And it just turn.
Bo and Yasha, you guys wrote it.
It's just like a gold marshmallow out.
Just a close.
Bo Yasha.
Do it up.
Yashra Gala.
A lady.
Do we just slap Jello?
I think?
Okay.
That sounds really.
That's foul.
Jillo shots!
Yeah, doing a full on Jellah shot.
You're moving into it to assault it.
Go for it.
Oh, that's an 18.
Plus six, so 24.
That definitely hits.
Plus seven plus four, 20, or sorry, 11.
11 points of damage.
damage?
Yeah.
Go for the 20.
Go for the 20.
Okay, I'll go for the 20.
Okay, I don't go for the 20.
Okay, I did not roll a natural 20.
So 11 points of damage to your head.
As you whack, slam it with the side of your staff, it shivers and shakes at the impact, and your staff kind of slides through and barely
emerges the opposite side of it, seemingly closing around and reforming where the gap was carved through.
Does it feel like I did some damage?
Maybe.
Okay, I'll take my bonus and just whack, or you know what?
Just whack it.
Just whack it.
Just whack it.
Plot that jello. Slap that jello. Slap in the base. Slap in the base.
That's good. Is there something in it?
Yeah, bones.
It looks like it.
And six damage.
There is something in it.
Six damage, all right.
As you suck it with your fist and it quakes, as you pull your hand back, your whole hand goes numb.
Oh no. You cannot, all feeling is lost from almost part way down your arm and you're just like, pull, that.
It's like that pins and needles thing.
It's like...
It's a weird feeling.
Yeah, like dead arm.
Oh, hell.
Are you staying next to it or are you...
Back away from it.
I'm...
When a pet tentacle comes out of it or something.
Where's Yasha?
You're right.
I'm gonna kind of just go around near Frumpkin and kind of flink it.
You can move around.
That's good, that's good.
That's fine.
Don't step on my cat.
All ready.
Yasha, you're up.
Okay, so I'm going to...
Rage?
Yes.
She would like to rage.
Yeah.
Right.
I would like rage.
Oh wait, well maybe I don't really need to do that because we have advantage anyway.
Did you go up?
Yeah, yeah.
You're no harm in raging.
Divine fury.
Are you moving into assault?
Yep.
Assaulted.
Assaulted.
I'm going to do that again.
One more $20 workshop this.
Are you doing a risk?
Advantage.
She has a advantage because both.
Both.
Eight.
It's still a cube.
It's not hard to hit.
It's a giant quivering cube.
It's not hard to hit.
It's a giant quivering cube.
I'm not moving.
So go and roll damage for that.
So 2d6 plus 5 plus your 1D.
6 plus 2, I think.
Did she get, oh no.
3D6, yeah.
Ooh, that's made.
3D6 plus 7.
17.
Because it's restrained.
17?
No, no, it's more than that.
It is?
Yeah, this is.
15. 15 plus two for rage, three for strength, and plus two for your
divine.
17. Yeah.
22, 24. Yeah. Wait, 21.
21. 21. 21. 21 points a day.
As you carve through and you actually watch a corner of it slide off and turn to
sludge and water on the ground, your blade just cuts through a section of it and
cut, nothing. Nothing. No, it hurt it. It seems.
You did great.
Yeah, yeah, you're already mixed up.
A way to go, Yasha!
But whoa, I don't see anything happening.
It's a big cube of fludge.
Did it get to change shape at all?
It's a pentahedron now.
You just kind of carve through a portion of it.
It's like a water bed.
You're just going to go.
It's going to be real into it.
All right, to you back a little bit.
As you pull back a little bit,
it gets one swing at you with a suit of pod.
At disadvantage.
Swings that out.
And I hit it with Sentinel.
Oh, shit.
Have advantage.
At advantage.
It rolled pretty well.
for having this advantage, that would be a total of 16 to hit.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, sure.
Cube.
Fuck.
Stupid cube.
Your AC is so good.
You take 13 points of acid damage.
As it slams into you against to burn the skin and thunds them out of your arm.
Does that get half?
Ascent damage is not half, unfortunately.
And you strike it.
I rolled a 15.
That hits, go and roll damage.
Six damage.
Six damage? All right?
Yeah.
These are all my unarmed strikes.
Yeah.
You're always unarmed.
And you're put your other hand and both your hands are numb and you're like,
Oh, this is bad.
I hate that feeling.
No.
Yeah.
Your old torso, Yasha's burning and underneath the burning pain,
you feel kind of numbness under your chin and your tongue is going a little...
Oh!
Is she pointed out?
All right, Molly, you're up.
I'm going to try, just for shits and giggles.
I'm going to activate the ice damage.
on my sword.
Okay.
I'm gonna run up, oh, where am I?
I'm over there.
Where all these spells?
I'm going to run up, take a swing at that corner.
Okay.
So you dash up to its side there.
And then, so that's 14 to hit.
14 hits.
I know, it's like just in case I will be the one to miss.
And that's six plus one ice, so that's seven, seven damage.
Seven damage, nice. All right.
And then you strike through and the ice kind of like crystallizes inside.
You watch as you cut through the liquid and the moisture,
gonna, she leaves this kind of like...
Ballistic gel?
Kind of, yeah.
Stuck in the inside.
And so that's one carve through.
Well, my bonus to activate it, so.
Right, yeah.
So I'm gonna back off into the corner then.
Okay, does not get, it already is three active.
So I'm using that, yeah.
Already see you strike and the dirt back, jump to the back of the room, getting ready for your next round.
That finishes Molly's round.
Not in Ford, you're up.
Ladies' verse.
Yes, I feel so conflicted trying to hurt a cube.
But I will bash that cube until it explodes all over the place.
Whoa!
I will roll the natural 20 to attack with my cross-the-bow.
All right, go ahead and roll damage on that.
With sneak attack?
You have a knife.
You have a bow, bow.
And it's crit.
because it's restrained and double dice and then add your dexterity modifier.
No, 24 plus 28.
Oh shit, yeah.
Oh, and I'll use Fury of the Small to make it 30.
I want to roll a rogue right now.
Is it half your level or is it your level?
Fury of the Small, let me look.
Is damage equal to your level, right?
Yes.
Oh, I'm...
Submish no 4, it's 32 damage.
Oh, shit.
Wow.
That builds goblin?
Class features.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's equal to your level, right?
I'm looking.
Is it a racial feature or flat class?
I don't know, but is it?
I'll look it up later.
It'll be a racial feature.
Roveish architect.
Racial trait.
Spell casting, mage hand?
Oh shit, I should have used a little mage hand before.
What is going on?
Keep going.
Remember, that's actually, you're an architect.
I don't know what I should be doing.
Class features.
Well, regardless, you did a lot of damage to it.
So 32 with your level added to it as you strike it with the crossbone.
Okay.
Then I will move.
Around that way, yes, and so it's plus four.
15, 20, 25.
I think only is it.
30.
And I'll shoot again, why not?
Go for it.
With advanced stuff.
It's a restraint.
18 plus a lot.
That hits, roll damage.
You used your snake at time.
Just once.
So seven more points of damage.
39 points of damage, one round of combat.
Two bad.
Nicely done.
Nicely does.
Back slow.
High-level, yeah, but low-level rogu.
But low-level roguess.
High-level robe was still pretty cool.
Yeah.
Well, it's not like 79 points of damage you did in one round?
One time.
Yeah, that was great.
So that ends another turn.
What are you doing?
I'm going to use my speed to run on this side of the cube
closer to you as far back against that wall as possible.
25, right there.
You go 30 and be all the way back.
That's a .
You got an elder's blast.
Go for it.
Advantage ride.
That's not natural 19's not.
Natural 19's not bad though.
That'll hit, roll damage.
Great.
Plus four, that's 10 plus four, it's 14 points of damage.
14 points of damage.
There's things just getting hit with crossbow bolts
and the blasts from the sides of it.
It's taking damage, but it's a hardy mass of slime and gelatin.
That's a hardy molo.
Indeed.
Does that finish your turn?
All righty, it's now the gelatinous cubes turn.
It's going to attempt to break free of the large earthen
Oh, no.
Paul, that's all.
I'm at disadvantage.
Oh, no, not for this.
Just for attacks.
That is going to be, what's it?
15.
It's a strength check.
Yeah.
It'll be plus two, that's a 15.
God's for contempt.
Oh, it breaks out.
Oh, no, it breaks three?
Yeah.
No, what I'm out for the back of the room?
I thought who's going to stay there.
Bose right next to it.
Maybe it's small.
Does that mean it's my son?
No, no, I'm dodgy as fuck.
No.
It's just so moose.
Oh, it's in action.
Shit.
Half of its movement?
It's going to...
Oh no.
It looks like going on.
Oh, God.
Who's it getting?
My cat!
It takes like four points of damage immediately, my cat.
How many of that trickle?
It's three.
Did any of that trigger?
It's drawn instantly.
It's technically your cat's kind of moved aside.
I just did that to fuck with you.
It's in golf as an action, and it's actually action to break up.
but it didn't move over and you guys basically moved out of the way. So it's now right next to both Bo and Jester.
It didn't move out to range at all.
No, it did not. We already used your reaction anyway.
Can I just say that it looks like that artisanal ice that you get it really close?
Yeah. I'm really thirsty for like a scotch.
All right, that's going to end its turn. That brings this to the top of the round. That is Caleb.
I believe my cat's paw is still in existence and would like to try to do the same shit.
Ooh, it exists.
So.
15.
15.
It can move as well.
It's like Bigby's paw.
It's like Bigby's paw.
Tis.
It is.
You can move?
Bigby's dirty paw.
Yeah.
Dirty, dirty cat paw.
Dirty, dirty cat paw?
Dirty, dirty.
Looking it up, lungs up, looking it up, looking it up.
What's that?
What's that?
What's that?
Did it get five feet?
It was five feet in front of it and moved that way.
I mean, it would have been right in front of it.
Right in front of it.
Where you like to smell their pherbones.
DC15 on what's the save on?
Cat lady disease.
It's a strength.
Right, strength again.
What's it called?
That's a 14 plus 2, 16.
Oh, that doesn't do it.
Okay, great.
Alrighty.
I will use the rest of my movement
to move another 10 feet back in the hallway that I mean.
Okay.
Slowly backing the way.
As you step on that platform back here,
you feel it kind of buzzed for a second.
And nearby you hear the,
this kind of whining of metal against metal
as the trap is still
Still, like, just broken but waiting.
All right, then it's Caleb's go.
Jester, you're up.
Oh, man, oh man, and it's right next to me now.
Oh, God.
Okay.
It's right next to me now.
I'm going to cast Toll the dead on it.
All right.
Save on that is Constitution.
It's always some save.
That is strangely a 14.
Oh, 14.
Oh, shit.
16 minus 2.
No effect.
Okay.
Don't you get an advance?
No.
No one.
Okay.
Then I guess I'm just going to try to back away from it.
Which way?
Toxoplasmosis.
Towards sports.
Oh yeah.
We're going to back away here.
I totally would have that come back.
All right.
A little further if I can, please.
You can.
Because it probably can't move very far.
Very fun.
It's going to swing at you.
Yeah.
With its suit a pot as you move out of its range.
That's a natural 20.
Oh.
Oh.
That's a good at rules in the past cover up.
That's going to be.
Natural to order against Jester.
32 points of acid damage.
Oh, shit.
That's all the points.
I'm out.
I'm out.
I'm unconscious.
Is she absorbed?
I rolled it's 3D6, 646, double.
Is she absorbed?
No.
No. It got a natural 20.
Oh, no. Not at the moment.
Oh, no.
So you were unconscious on the ground right next to him.
I was, because it was before I was.
She tried to move away.
Shit.
So it just wham! hits you from behind and the last thing you feel is kind of a numbness,
overtake your body, is darkness clouds around your eyes and you are out.
Jester, like all beautiful women succumb to the cube.
Yeah.
Oh my God.
If I died tonight and I decided to calm a
even though I'm coughing. It's too dangerous. Sorry. All right, that ends
gesture's turn. That brings us to Bo and Yasha. And that I wouldn't have...
Okay. Go and Yasha. Priority.
Get her up. Get her up. Get her up.
I feel like that was before, though. It's one reaction.
I'm going to go before. I'm going for. The first one.
About five years.
Do I have a reaction?
No, because that was happening during... This isn't your last turn. So your reaction has come back now. You don't get in
but now you do after this. Sure. But it's your turn. It's me and it's me and
Yasha. Yeah's a healer, right?
Wait, didn't you? I can go get it too. I got to help. I did on the round before.
I know I'm... I feel like I have one more round but I don't think I did.
Gitty, kitty, gitty, gitty, I can do like to get a gitty. Did you though? Because it moved out of your range.
It did, but you guys have the same initiative round. So you used your reaction on your turn last round to hit it.
Uh-huh.
As she was running away, and then now it's reset to her right.
But did Yasha?
Yasha hasn't, no.
Biasha ran out of range and hasn't able to use her reaction ahead since then.
Oh, she ran out of range.
Yes.
Okay, okay.
I don't know why I did that.
That's how you got the attack on it.
Was it ran away and it hit her.
I know.
I was thinking there was another round in between that.
It's all good.
What are you guys do?
I'm going to, I'll just, um, I'll lay into it.
All right.
So you're staying where you are and just start.
Wait.
The world's biggest head of the right.
Wait.
Wait.
Wait.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Justa.
I'm going to die, you guys.
Yeah, I'm going to-
No, probably you'll die.
Probably will.
Caleb, you already went.
Is anyone else you're going to give it to her?
Yeah.
Okay, okay, okay, then I'll lay into it.
All right, go for it.
Sorry, I wanted to make sure that someone was going to get Jester up.
I'm leaving her back.
When does the cube go?
When does the cube go?
And that's nine points of damage.
Nine points of damage, nice.
You've done something.
As you slap it with the side of the bow again,
you're watching it kind of like buckle in places.
I'm gonna go ahead do flurry of blows.
All right.
For these next two.
Two more strikes you do this.
Slap of the glaze.
That's a natural 18.
That hits, definitely.
So five points of damage.
Five points of damage, all right.
Slap of the genoa.
That's not great.
That's 11 to hit.
Great, and that's seven points.
seven points of damage.
Seven points of damage.
Wack!
Wack!
You're just punching this thing and you're watching it kind of quiver and part of it's like
in a shifting and it's looking pretty damaged in spite of its size at this point in time.
Nice.
Well done.
Yasha, what are you doing?
All right, I'm gonna go up to it.
Slice it.
You still raging?
Raging.
Reckles.
Reckless.
So you do have a damage.
Yes.
Yes.
Devine.
No, I can't do it.
Every turn you can do it.
Every turn I can do it.
Wow.
So one.
Yes!
Yeah!
First roll the hit.
Where is it?
B.U.A.O.A.
Oh, first roll the hit.
With advantage, because you're your right-lice?
Yeah, 20.
Roll again, just in case.
No.
No.
Okay.
Okay.
The reckless is good because you have a double chance that are critical, so don't ever...
Six.
Six.
Six.
Yeah.
Almost.
So, I love that.
I love that so much.
That's so much.
Yeah.
It's a second.
Two.
Two.
22.
That's it.
Yeah, that's it.
22 damage.
How do you want to do that?
Is that your first one?
As you see it being hit by bone and slowly shifting its way towards the unconscious body of Jester on the ground, you watch it kind of expanding to start pulling her leg inward.
I take the tip of the sword and I just slowly start just pushing it in the middle.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
As you push it all the way into the center of it,
it begins like shaking quiver,
and it begins to slowly encapsulate your arm and forearms.
As it rises up, and your arm is numb.
You just shake your head and cut out to the side.
And as you do, you watch the side of it,
just go splash out.
Almost like popping a water balloon.
The interior of it seems to turn to liquid water
and just spill out as it slowly deflates.
And just liquefies across the ground,
like a jellyfish beached.
I'm stepping in it.
I'm stepping in it.
Oh, my feet are covered in it.
A classic Dungeons and Dragons.
Yeah!
I'll tell you one thing.
That restraint saved your fucking ass at home.
Oh my God.
I never got a chance to engulf.
Never got a chance to engulf.
I'll run over and I'll kneel down next to Jester and pick up her head and pour a health potion.
Put your tusky in there, Ford.
Nope, nope, nope.
Oh, Oscar.
Ford.
Ford.
Thank you for saving.
It's Ford.
Sorry, I mean for it.
Yeah, you're right?
Yeah.
Okay, get on. Come on.
Oh, did we kill it?
Yep.
Sorry, I think that was my fault, you guys.
No.
No, these things happen.
It's all right.
Anything coming in the middle of that thing?
What?
Come in the middle of it?
No, it just turns to liquid gel.
Like cat out of there.
One of these days I'll get to put one of you guys.
Oh, Prumpkin.
Hey, buddy.
From down the hallway you hear.
Now the question is, if we do the same thing again, will another one come out?
Oh, yeah.
Or do we need to try to hit all three at the same time?
Let me just come in there.
Yeah, it's okay.
This will leave it here.
Leave it nearby.
Or just because I need to, I'll set it aside.
Well, if you hit it all with everything at once, then the worst that could happen is that we just have to fight two more things at the same time.
Well, hold on.
Just a did.
Necrotic. Necotic. And I can obviously handle, well, I can handle evocation or...
Who has divination, though?
Divination.
What you didn't notice during this process was the...
I can also...
The pillar above, the base reclosed.
So we had to do it all at once.
I can do both divination and evocation.
At the same time, then?
But can you do one of those two?
I don't know. You taught me magic. What are...
What are...
What are mine? What are my experience?
Well, tell me what you are able to do.
Here, I'll show you on D&D.
What are the last two divination and evocation?
Devocation.
Does anybody have one of those?
Most of mine are illusion and something else.
Not what I can do.
What can you do?
I mean.
Yeah, you can do evocation with this one.
Okay, I can do evocation.
You have to get up there, though.
You have to touch it with that one.
Can your mage hand lift this one?
You up?
No.
Well, we have to be in the bowl.
We do it in the bowl.
In the bowl.
We do it to the rod, right?
To the rod.
Do the rod.
Do the wall and the bowl.
Evocation.
I can handle the divination.
You handle necrotic.
Where it is placed right now?
On the symbols.
In the hole.
Yeah.
Okay.
And what are you doing?
I can do shocking grasp as an evocation.
The evocation.
Maybe we do.
Wait.
Wait.
We should take the bowls outside of the room
and cast something on the bowls
and see if one of the symbols on the balls light up.
That way that the staff doesn't absorb the spell immediately.
What?
Because when I cast a toll the dead,
I was trying to cast it on a bowl, right?
But instead, my spell went up into the middle of the staff.
That's true.
So maybe if we try casting it on the balls outside of the room,
that won't happen.
Can we just cast it on the staff?
There is a room outside the staff.
Outside this room where it seems like there was just a room for maybe preparing the bowls?
Let's do that. Just or leave the way.
Maybe the bowls have...
It is worth a try.
It is worth a try. Of course it is.
Just so we don't have to fight another cube just in case.
I'm pretty good. I have not let go of all of my...
Bo and I go and pick up the three bowls.
I only have...
How many points of healing did you give me when you wore a spell in my room?
Was it regular healing potion?
Yeah, just regular.
Two. Three. Is everyone all right? Six.
Jester, how are you feeling?
Thank you. I'm feeling like I'm a little sick right now, but you know.
No, but not Laura, but you're Jester. How are you feeling?
I feel like I've got very little house, like I'm bleeding a little bit from my ears.
I reach into the satchel on the side of my bed.
No, no, no, you keep it. You keep it. I'll do it.
And I give her my potion of healing, regular healing.
Caleb, I have healing spells still. It's okay.
Well, what are you complaining about then?
I wasn't bitching at all.
Yes.
That is not the verbiage that I chose at all.
The whirbidge.
The verbi-la-bo-wobbibage.
I'm fucking into this hallway, okay?
But when I take the balls, we head out into the hallway.
You guys head out past the traps, carefully stepping across.
They're currently held traps, and you have the bowls in the following way.
Okay. Should we try casting a spell on one of the bowls?
Yeah, we lay all three of them. One, two, three and
divination right here.
So, Evo, you first. Pick a bowl.
Wait, no, we have to do it instantaneous.
No, we don't think so, because we're not in the same room anymore.
We can just try to see if the balls do anything.
Do you think it would hurt if we did it at the same time?
Yeah, what's the problem with that?
Sure, try. We'll see what else.
At the counter on the counter,
counter, Svi.
Bo takes off her belly.
I'm going to cast.
My spirit of the dying cantrip.
Necromance.
Necromance.
You're casting.
Shocking grasp.
Okay.
Which is evocation in your bed.
Identify, which is divination.
Okay.
I take off my belt and I hold it up like a rally car racer girl.
You?
We're waiting.
Two, one.
Two, one.
You guys all cast your spellings sometimes.
No seeming effect on the bulls.
Oh, we have to be in the room.
Let's just do it in the middle.
It's hard to see because there's still like the ash
kind of cake to the inside of it.
Wait, they blow on the ball.
Does it look like any of the symbols got any brighter?
I will say the one that I had, I'd probably...
By a scrubby clean.
It's hard to see with very little light in here, so.
Okay, that was good. That was good.
We checked that box.
Yeah, so let's go back into the room.
Make an intelligence check.
Okay.
Come on, come on, come on.
Yeah, it's good.
It's 20.
20.
Very good.
There's something bugging you in the back of your head, something that says the fact that
these were urns that carried ash speaks to the purpose of these.
You can't make the connection here, but the fact that each of these was filled with
ash is bugging you.
There's something there.
And the urns currently are just totally empty?
They're totally empty, yes.
Why do we cast it on the rod?
No, I...
Do we need to set these on fire?
We maybe need to go upstairs and scoop some of the dust-bust-bust-bull shit into these and bring them down.
You want to go catch it on the rod?
Maybe.
Maybe.
You need three spells.
No, I'm saying we need to go collect some of the ashes of the dead from upstairs.
Or maybe we need to set something on fire.
Something is missing here.
I need to set it on fire.
Wait, are they already filled with ash right now?
No, the ash is mostly cleaned out.
I mean, I still have this holy water too.
Yeah, and you have your torch.
Yeah, it's possible that we need to burn something afresh.
Hold the torch under one of both.
Yeah, and I can set things on fire as well.
Do you want to do one?
Just hold it under.
Hold the torch, yes.
Yeah, it's easier.
And I cast a fire bolt into one of them.
Okay, you cast a fire bolt into one of them.
The flame bursts in there as you guys take the torch over the sun.
and as the fire subsides, you can see each of the symbols, portions of them are left glowing.
Okay.
And slowly fade.
Which ones? Which portions?
All of them.
All of the symbols have certain parts of them that just glow for a second in the presence of fire and then fade.
So we hold the torch under one of them like for a long time and see what happens.
Who's going to hold the bowl?
I'll hold the bowl and resistant to fire.
Okay.
Yes. So you take the bowl and you hold it out there and it hurts a little bit, but you come at as you hold the torch,
underneath it means to light up you watch as the symbols begin to glow on the inside of these metal-inscribed bits.
Look at this.
Whoa, here we go, here we go.
There we are.
What?
Yes.
Parts of the symbols are glowing more.
So we were wrong about what we needed to cast.
Also, just to note,
Schmidt is still here with us.
So if we need anyone to hold something that's dangerous,
we need transmutation.
What is this?
What is this?
That's...
Illusion.
We need an illusion.
I know those!
And we need enchantment.
Transmutation, illusion.
An enchantment.
An enchantment.
I have an enchantment.
I have transmutation.
There's fine writing around the square.
It's not just a shape.
See this writing in here?
I know an enchantment spell.
I know...
It's in another language.
I know enchantment and transmutation.
Why don't you do trends?
I'll do chant.
It's transmutes or something.
Oh, you can?
You think so.
All right, we'll figure out.
I don't think it turns.
I'm so glad you told me magic, Caleb.
I've got an idea. I think I know how it works now.
I don't know how it works, and I'm not paying any attention.
I'm very drunk.
This is great.
Right on us.
I think that this is just a guide.
We know what we need to know because of these bulls.
I think we need all three of these versions of the spells.
these versions of the spells coming from place in each of these points.
What does that mean? What?
We put the bowls, no. The bowls don't need. We don't even need the balls. We don't need the
We don't need the balls. That's what we need to spin it over there. That's a simple
different. Everybody stand at their point.
Wait, wait, wait, I got to find my spell that actually does the thing that they could do.
Wait, wait there. See, that symbol matches with this one.
Really? Yeah, are you sure?
I just figured this up, guys.
Wait, I have enchantment.
So what do you have?
Enchantment.
We need transmutation and illusion.
You have the piece of paper.
I have transmutation and enchantment.
I have illusion and transmutation.
And what do you have, Jester?
I have enchantment.
So you do enchantment.
So you're enchantment.
That means I have transmutation.
I'm illusion.
All right, yes.
If anything starts to happen, I want you to run for the door.
Okay, so I'll go stand by the enchantment, sir, under the symbol for enchantment, just in case.
It's the, uh, that would be the three dots.
Okay.
What are you, Stuart, don't you have some spells on you?
Yeah.
Why are you helping out?
What do you want?
Can you do enchantment?
Nope.
He's good.
I got evocation.
In case anything, if another cube or something comes out.
Do you need fighters?
Yeah, he will be good to the store.
Me and Ford will stand by in case anything else drops out of the seal.
That's right.
We've got these two blueses, yeah, that's good.
I can cut.
I can cut.
Okay.
Just in case I'm going to light my other sword too.
Okay, I can mark your damage on that.
Where are we casting it upon?
I think we're casting it just at the staff.
All right.
Yasha, you want to take another point?
Okay, fighters and casters?
Yep. All right.
Oh my God, I'm gonna cast armor a bag at this on myself again.
Do you need to be standing in front of the symbol that it lines up with?
That's what I would do. I would stand in front of the symbol on the triangle person.
Okay, then I'll go stand in front of the three dots.
This was a research facility for mazes. They're super, like,
upity about this shit.
Yeah.
Mm-hmm. I'll go over next to the illusion one.
and I, of course, in front of transmutation.
Okay.
All right, as you guys are triangulated around those specific coordinates, you set yourselves, what do you do?
We count three and we just go?
And you're doing what? I'm doing Maximilian's Earth and Grasp again.
I'm doing hold person.
I'm taking a bit of fleece and doing some hand symbols and casting silent image.
All right. You're casting...
Hold person.
All right.
I pull off the belt again.
Okay.
I'm sort of the ready.
One, two.
All right, as the three of you complete your incantations,
the energy unleashed from the arcane and divine schools of magic,
you watch as the energy disperses from the spell,
and all three go right into the center rod.
As it says, they're kind of shimmering from the impact.
You guys back away, and then it slowly goes cold again.
On the opposite side of the chamber, you hear a...
And you watch as a false wall on the opposite end, rotates open.
And then you go to a hallway on the opposite side of its previous.
Well done, guys.
Yes.
Oh, man.
Podcast Army Rebecca is for mother.
We still got it for an hour.
An hour?
That's good, because who knows what else will run into while we're down here.
On the other side.
Well, I'm wearing it. I'll run over to the door.
Check for track.
Wait. I sit down and I start doing the ritual for Detect Magic again.
Okay.
Well, he's doing that. Anybody else doing anything?
I'm just running over to the door. I'm not crossing the threshold.
I've got dark views.
Looking inside with what low light is coming through from the edges of Yasha's torchlight,
the next chamber, the first thing that hits you is the smell.
It's a smell of a strange combination of old decay, strong reds,
strong rust and almost like burnt hair.
It's hard to describe it.
It's a very unpleasant mingling of smells
as it hits you.
And looking inside, you can see what looks to be
a chamber ahead that is divided almost into
three smaller sections in a center main chamber area.
The center main chamber area is what you can most
to make up the details of, and it looks like there's
some sort of inert arcane circle in the center.
There's like a symbol drawn there with ruins around,
but it's just currently cold.
and dark. You can't see much further beyond that because you're just staying at the doorway.
And to the right and left, it looks like there's two smaller chambers immediately. And then it goes further in.
Well, I got more magic stuff inside. I know Caleb's meditating, but it's going to get hairy, I bet.
It smells like a little burnt hairy.
I woke up behind Fjord.
Okay. The torchlight extends into the chamber and you can see a little more now. The two side chambers are almost pill-shaped. They're rounded at each side.
and they're enclosed but open into the center chamber.
At each of these rounded edges to the right and left,
as you kind of step inside and glance to the right and left,
you can see what looked to be cage-like contraptions,
iron domes that are very, very tight-knit,
dark iron, rusted metal.
And they're on the edges of each side.
You see load-bearing pillars in the center of the chamber
onto the right and left.
It looks to be like cold brazers behind those against the walls.
little domed pieces of stone that probably once contained flame for light. Across the way,
you can see it looked to be two tables with chairs, a bookcase. That's all you can see at this distance.
And the dome cages are like solid steel, or are they bars? They're bars, but the bars are maybe like an inch,
inch and a half between each, so it's very, very little space in between.
I'm not going to start heading in this direction too. Did one of them look like it was possibly holding
There's a latinous cube at some point?
Are you entering the chamber to look?
I'm...
Yeah, I'll go with it.
We should detect traps.
Detect traps.
I don't look for traps.
I know it's my job.
All right, go ahead and make an investigation check.
Five minutes.
13.
The world does not...
Best you can tell there's no traps in this first portion of the chamber.
All clear.
I take another swig for my flask.
Okay.
How drunk are you right now?
Pretty drunk.
All right, we'll put you in the drunk status then.
Awesome.
It's been the long night.
Yasha, Molle, want to go in?
By the way, Yasha, can I just say?
You weren't even with us yesterday, and now you're down here.
You're doing this.
Is this crazy?
Four more minutes.
What were you doing yesterday?
I was sitting in the tavern and then you guys came into the tavern.
But did you know that you'd be down here with us tonight?
Yes, not, I did.
How did you know that?
I'm entering it.
I happen to...
No, no, I did not.
How and when will I die?
I can't tell you that not, perhaps the next row.
But you know?
Yes, of course.
She's powerful.
Powerful.
Powerful.
Don't spoil it for him. I'll find out an hour or so anyway.
Okay.
Good call you.
So yeah, she entered the torch as well.
All right, so the three of them enter, and you guys falling behind?
Are you staying back with Caleb?
Caleb is super intense on his shit, right?
I'm going like, I am helping the group.
Everyone's going to be safe.
Bow's left behind going, come on, pick it up, Caleb.
Bo, should I use my last spell to heal myself?
I have a healing potion.
Just her, you should always look out for yourself first, all right?
Yeah, I have a healing potion if you want it too.
if you want it to do.
Oh, you dick fucks.
So I should cast a spell on myself?
I am waiting behind, motherfucker.
I take a healing potion, I just hand it out to gesture.
This seems like a waste of money.
There's always more money.
I'm trying to be smarter with my money.
No, you're the worst with money.
All right, so regular healing potion?
Yeah.
2D4 plus 2.
Seven.
Oof.
That's better.
Yay.
Rough.
That's better.
That's better.
All righty, so as you guys were going to enter the chamber, you're now stepping into the center of this kind of
this inner magical circle. There are the two cold brazers and the pillars. You see the four cages on the two opposite ends of the rounded, almost pill-shaped side rooms.
And across the way there is the bookcase and the two tables. It looks to be almost like, as you get closer and can see, there's two non-lit candelabra.
The faint bits of candle remnants are there, mostly melted and the wax kind of dripping off and causing small pools in the ground, but they've been cold for some time.
I'll go over to one of the cages.
Did we wait the short amount of time for a detective?
No, I am in between you and them, and I'm going, come on, come on.
I'm not touching anything.
I'm just in the cage.
The nearest left corner is called.
Perception check.
14.
You glance through with the light that's kind of flickering through the various gaps in this iron cage.
And inside you can see what looks to be a similar clay urn, deep red, sitting in the center of it.
You can see what looks to be somewhat burnt.
and tattered clothing kind of at the sides of it.
Oh, geez.
Got another urn here full of ash.
Be careful.
Kill it.
Break it.
Anyone want to check the other cages, make sure it's not the same thing in each?
I don't take a look at the other cage.
Okay.
You glance, make a reception check.
I'm hanging out with Keillazzo and bow.
You finish your ability.
Your technogica is now affecting.
19.
19.
Glancing into one of the far-right cages, and would you get you?
I got 17. 17. You guys hit two other cages in the right side, both the far and close
edge of that platform. Looking into the small cages, you can see another, looks like an urn.
And you glance up and can see at the very top, there is a chain of some kind that was
almost wrapped in a noose. And you can see the urn that contains the ash down within. There
are remnants of ash around the outside in a circle and bits of like cloth and material.
and this kind of like chain news hanging above where this urn was.
Would I be insane for thinking this is how they make them?
No, I don't think that's insane at all.
The willow wisp.
Oh, the dead.
I think this was a factory maybe.
Heading over to Molly, I stopped in the middle of the room with that inert circle.
Does it look like anything?
Make an arcana check.
Nurt circle.
Are we near the table at all?
table at all.
There's a .
Oh, 17 plus 4.
21.
21.
You guys can move to the opposite end if you want to get closer to the table.
Looking at the inert circle, it looks like you're not full, you're not.
You have instinctual arcane knowledge that's been imparted upon you by whatever this gift has been given to you.
So the knowledge comes to you.
It's alien but familiar at the same time, and your brain's trying to work through this disconnect.
But the circle looks like it was once developed to be a transportation circle, a teleportation circle, but has since at the moment, it seems, been scarred and closed.
I feel like this was used to move or deliver people or things. This was a center for transportation.
What the fuck are you talking about?
Are we and the other rope still? Do we come in?
Just real.
Caleb is now finishing you guys been into the chamber.
It's real bright.
Sounds good ford, please.
All right, so.
How close to the table can we get?
I mean, how close do you want to get?
There's two tables, both kind of kitty corner into the floor of their chamber.
I want to wait for Caleb at this point.
Do you need my help?
Sure.
Is he done yet?
Give me a second to black light.
Blacklight the room, please.
Okay.
Yes.
Caleb, I love you.
We are missing out another shit.
That's sweet.
I'm having extreme fomo right now.
Come on.
We're in the room, let's go.
We're in the room, let's go.
Yeah, I'm waiting for the narrator to.
Yeah, I told you.
A couple times.
You finished your stuff.
Yes, great.
So I'm walking, is there anyone between the bookshelf
and me where I am is for?
Yes, currently it looks.
like Yasha and Jester are kind of in between that space.
Who's the closest?
They're both equidistant.
I walk up between the two of them, and I have a 30-foot radius on this spell, so I'm basically doing this, but I'm very interested in the bookshelf, obviously.
Right.
But I'm looking everywhere.
There's a very, very faint magical aura from the symbol in the center, but it seems largely clouded and marked off.
It's almost like somebody had taped over a black-lit drawing.
It's been marred and prevented from use,
from what it seems at the moment.
Is there a type?
I will ask that every time.
Yes, there is.
And just to be consistent here.
Loss.
Friendship magic.
It is.
Conjuration.
Conjuration.
There is a very, very faint, magical essence,
just in kind of the straight ahead, and as you kind of focus and lean forward, it becomes
a little stronger. And there is a, above the bookshelf, there is a shape, like, embedded
in the wall that is emanating kind of a slight, magical aura.
In the wall above the bookshelf. Above the bookshelf. You don't quite have enough
light, and Yasha's just running the torch, though, that's kind of being cut off from
the roof. I've got the, I've got a light stone in my pocket if anyone wants to go for it.
Here, climb on. A light stone.
I'll climb up on the bookshelf.
Careful.
As you approach, the bookshop is mostly empty.
And similar to the first chamber you went to,
it looks like either everything in here was taken or destroyed
or most of the bookshelf is just plain empty
with broken pieces and tattered bits of paper
and what looks to be no books present on the shelf at the moment.
Zero books.
That you see on the shelf as you kind of close in to look at it.
As you climb the shelf and look up,
Above the bookshelf, there is placed ornamentally on the wall.
It looks like a very, very wide, blade, long,
sword of some kind is bolted to the wall as an ornamental display.
Does it look trapped?
Is this trapped on the wall?
You want me to check it?
Climb up on the bookshelf with me.
Just pull it off.
I'm gonna go up and check.
I got a, oh wait, disadvantage.
I'm drunk.
That's a 19.
Nice.
Amher.
Best you can tell, there's no trap oriented with it.
Should I try to pull it down?
Pull it off.
I'll give you all my help potions one day.
I lift, I pull and try to pull it out.
Okay.
It takes you a moment, because it's kind of bolt to and the blade comes free, and as it
pull back on it, you begin to kind of, whoa.
You guys go and catch gesture.
She plummetes off of the bookshelf and you manage to kind of trust fall her, if you will, as she plummet on the top.
Good job not getting stabbed you guys, because this is sharp looking.
It is a head.
heavy-looking blade. The hilt of it is gold and curls up to the sides and has all these tiny
runes inscribed along it to the edge. The central blade is thick. It's about that wide at the
base, and the soy tapers to the edge. Let's see. None of you guys come from a specific
like blacksmithing background so you wouldn't know the purpose of the blade, but it looks dangerous.
This is a sacrificial blade for sure. Is it long?
Yeah, it's about six feet long.
Whoa!
Chester's holding it?
I'm holding it.
How's the Ger?
She's strong.
It's pretty Garthy.
Gertsey?
Can you identify it?
Gertsey is my advantage of team.
I obviously can do that, but I have a little bit of reserve left, but we are still not topside yet, so we can either sit for 10 minutes and I can tell you exactly what it does, or we wait till later.
But I'm not willing to do it.
No more 10 minutes.
It is 10 minutes.
I'll strap it to my back.
Yeah, we can wait till later to wear.
You can put it in the bag.
It's very sharp and the bag is easily punctured
and I just don't want to risk it.
I'll strap it to my back.
Shouldn't we, for good measure, be breaking up these other ceramic?
Are those ceramic pots getting anything off?
The tables, by the way, right next to the bookshelf,
you can see, have, will look to be like writing utensils,
quills in the side one has an ink well.
It's been long dried over with like a spider web attached to it.
Is there any paper?
Make an investigation check.
A natural 20.
Ooh.
You don't notice any paper, but as you glance underneath one of the tables in the bottom,
it looks like one book has been not taken, or at least had fallen beneath and was left behind.
Liam just got an interaction.
I heard it.
The art.
I did that article.
Another take.
Oh, come on.
It's like.
No, the first one was right.
All right.
So the book, as you pull it out, part of it is, like a corner of it is burned.
Pretty heavily.
Yeah.
To drink magic is still going, by the way.
Correct, correct.
There's no magical source from it.
And you can see, like, where you found it, there's a bit of an ash trail that leads back towards kind of the far wall, towards one of the braziers is.
Yeah.
So you get the sense that maybe, like, whatever you can see.
that maybe whatever was in here may have been thrown
in the braziers to burn them,
and this book got discarded her thrown.
But as you kind of open and start looking
to the pages, what languages do you know?
I know.
I know that.
Oh, God, I don't know where to look on...
Oh, it's...
Capriciencies.
It would be under proficiencies, probably.
No, it's not there.
Where's that?
Come on D&D beyond.
Oh, character decales under description.
Description character details in here?
I know Sylvan, Common, and Celestial.
You do not recognize this script.
Well, then I will cast comprehend languages.
Oh.
All right.
I hope that doesn't get rid of all your other spells.
It does.
Just one.
I cast comprehend languages.
Okay.
As you finish casting the spell,
you guys watch as Caleb's hand incantation completes,
the eyes kind of light up with a strange yellowish energy.
And all the words on the page that previously made
a sense suddenly shift to go out of focus
and then come back into focus in the language
that you can't understand, and it is draconic.
Draconic.
Drakhani.
Reading through briefly, and it is scribblings,
and it is disjointed and broken in places.
But taking a moment to kind of look through,
you get the sense this is the journal of somebody
named Sif Duthar.
Sif Duthor.
Don't write that down.
Why?
Because only I know it.
It's definitely going to write.
SIF D-D-D-O-R-H-S-I-F.
SIF. SIF.
The thing is, he probably won't ever tell us.
Mm-mm.
He'll tell me.
The pages, the ramblings speak of a coming war.
Ooh.
They talk about foolish pawns who follow their gods to annihilation.
They speak of the armies of Gordranes washing over the land,
and Popper and kings alike being saved not at all.
and being placed on a pike and held like a banner into battle,
regardless of who they are.
They speak of the weakness of flesh
and the need to endure beyond the poultry life shell
that were given.
Talks about experiments with refugees,
finding if the soul is bound to the flesh
in any form, be it ice or ash.
It speaks of an obsession with avoiding the eternal hunger
of the crawling king.
He who tunnels beneath the wall
and will find him.
Oh, boy.
This seems like beyond our level stuff.
Is there an audio version of this?
It speaks of a bounty hunter who had infiltrated this sanctum after Siff.
And while it cost Siff his legs.
His legs?
The hunter was burned in the brazier, flames of erasure.
A trophy shall be taken and displayed as a warning.
It's a fuck a sword!
From there it grows my sword.
more and more, Manick, the scrawlings taking you a moment, even with the spell to kind of
focus and make it out. Speaking on quaking within the earth around that shakes the surrounding
hills and darken the sky. The betrayer gods come. The power of man must remain. The arcane
gifts must bypass their punishment, show them that they are not above their creations.
The final notes grow even more paranoid, worried that the secrets that SIFE,
Sikhs will fall into the hands of Gordranes.
And that all must be destroyed.
All must come to ash.
And from the ashes shall rise again.
And as the final page before the rest of the book
is just charred beyond recognition.
Right, right.
Oh, God.
From the ashes.
Just say that all again one more time, Matt?
Don't be a thing.
No.
Say it all out loud.
Wow.
I do read it all out.
Okay.
That is hardcore. What's in the urn?
Yeah, from Arsha Shall Rise Again. Are we gonna fight some guy who's gonna chop off our legs?
What? You're talking about chopping off our legs.
But then this sort belongs to the guy that came to save Siv? The bounty hunter?
Yeah.
Yeah.
The trophy will remain.
Yeah, the trophy was a warning. And he lost his legs.
I want to take a look at some of these cages with the irons.
What was the thing about fire or ice though?
It was like fire or ice.
Jester, Jester. What?
Molly is having a look around.
Let me tell you, hold that for me.
Hold it still.
What?
Hold what still?
The sword.
And I will tell you what it is, but you have to hold it for a while, muscles.
I'm good.
Yeah.
As you guys are having this conversation, we're going to notice, as you're yelling and talking, your breath is now visible.
It's getting colder.
We should get out of here.
The temperature growing colder and colder still.
colder still. You guys... You, looking past the chamber towards one of these urns, you see a very faint light, a flicker within where the ashes are.
We've got a problem. As this happens, the center circle of the chamber begins to glow darker and darker as a shadow begins to emerge from the center of the chamber.
Out of the ground, you watch as what looks to be some sort of whipping cloak around a humanoid figure rises out made of pure shadow and darkness. The cloth is tattered.
and just shifting around, causing this horrible whipping sound,
like a wind is blowing extremely intensely,
but only localized around this figure.
As the face is visible, you see this ghastly,
like flesh stretched against the skull,
but still made of dark gray matter
that begins to shift and move with the shadows around it.
The voice kind of,
no secrets are you, I see.
We'll pick up there next week.
Something wicked this way it comes.
I'm so confused.
I don't have hardly any head points.
He's just gonna talk to us.
I tried to write as much as I could.
It's okay, I have one spell slot left, it's fine.
I've got a second level and a first level.
Maybe we should run.
We should probably run.
We should probably run.
We should probably run.
We have a week to think about it.
Oh my God.
Hold on though.
Was he coming up out of the teleportation circle?
You guys are all like towards the bookshelf and the table.
and kind of emerges from the center area near the circle,
not from the center of the circle, but like NEP is in the circle.
He wasn't emerging, he wasn't teleporting in.
He seemed like rise out of the ground while Molly is off by one of the cages at the south.
And I saw something happen in that cage, though.
You did.
I'm at that other corner.
Yep, so you and Molly are both the other corners.
What are we going to wait a week?
May I ask?
What were we set here to get again?
That's what I was going to say?
I don't think we've achieved anything.
No, we were just supposed to get rid of the orbs.
You guys were scared to the oars?
He wanted us to bring back any type of ancient research that we could find.
Just research?
But we could keep any of the spoils.
So we just run away, bring the book and run away.
All I have to say is we cleared it and found nothing.
Clared it.
Clared it.
We gotta take this guy down.
This guy is way beyond our level.
Oh, well.
Yeah, we need to do some discussion.
This is a game of choices, guys.
Figure out how many choices are for next week.
Oh, ma'am.
Oh, man.
But on that note, well done, guys.
I don't want to wait a way to do it right now.
If it wasn't already like 10.38, we could get into it.
I know, I know.
Pick it out.
Two hours at least.
I know.
But depending what you do, you can TPK real fast.
Right.
Oh, yeah.
No.
But anyway, thank you guys so much.
Thank you for watching and tuning in.
We'll see you next week.
Don't forget.
