Starting point is 00:00:06 It took 10 years to push them back, but we did. What was once a prosperous river trade, the Mississippi is now the front line. The eastern states supply the river states, and what's left to the UA live out their meager days self-policing. What is the West hiding? Nobody really knows for sure. But we're alive. And this is the new frontier.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Back to We're Alive Frontier. When we last left our expeditioners, they were knocked out through a bunch of gas canisters after trying to avoid a patrol from Osage, which is previously Jefferson City. And all three of you wake up next to each other as you slowly start to come back into consciousness as a tower of a man stomps into the room next to you
Starting point is 00:01:04 and gazes down. You can see his giant weapon, his small, is peering down at you. Sir, would you care to join us? And you die. We were trying to establish a rail line at west. And...
Starting point is 00:01:44 Well, I... Are you from the city? Jefferson City? You came in the machine? Yes. You saw that. It rang for miles. If I heard it, everyone did. Yeah, well... They have it.
Starting point is 00:02:01 They? We left it parked. Some were back in Jefferson City. Parked is it charitable to him? Yeah. We're going back. Where are the others? There were more of you. They're in a safe place. You're going back to the city?
Starting point is 00:02:19 Yeah. Why? Well, we're gonna kill their leader, and then we're gonna take back the rail driver. Who leads them now? A K-Mond? KAMON. What do you know about him? Your equipment's over there.
Starting point is 00:02:36 The effects of the gas will wear off shortly. It's very temporary. Thank you. Kay-Mong. Jenny gets up and she stumbles a little bit. She makes her way over to this new person. And she sits next to him. What can you tell me about them, aside from the fact
Starting point is 00:02:54 that they're cannibals? I mean, what? When we came in and we saw, these pillars that looked like the infected. Infected. What is an infected? They bite you. They were once men, now they're beasts.
Starting point is 00:03:10 The chanoo. The chanoo are not an infection. And mankind is the infection. The chanoo are the earth mother's immune system to wipe away mankind. Is this not known in the east? Yeah, we feel differently. Then that?
Starting point is 00:03:31 It's not the most accepted interpretation. A lot of folks out there might disagree with you. Where is it? Kent, he just saved our lives. It ain't worth much. I do like tense up on the crossbow. I don't point it at him, but I'm like, what are you referring to?
Starting point is 00:04:02 I had a picture. I had a picture. It's in your belongings. There. I'm gonna just walk away and just kind of like, not walk away, but turn my back and kind of look at the picture. Yeah, Kent, at this point,
Starting point is 00:04:19 you've actually been a lot that's going on in your mind. You have left behind a lot in order to go on this trip. You've left behind Sarah, you've left behind Max. At this stage, you're actually starting to feel very alone with this new kind of stranger in here. These people came across you and they helped you, and they allowed you to come into a place where you could find this very precious momento,
Starting point is 00:04:40 but now with two other people left behind. It's a little unnerving for you. I don't have much in this world anymore. But what I did have, what I did have still lives right here. Because this is all that's left. I can't remember anymore. I can't, I can't see his face.
Starting point is 00:05:11 I check. I'm like, do I feel like we're in any, like, immediate danger? While they were out, you check the whole water treatment plant, just to make sure that these were the only three. And I'm not too sure what you would do with the bodies. I would have removed my crossbow bolts from them. I would have taken anything that was immediately valuable, and I would have put them back in the river
Starting point is 00:05:34 to drift down the river. Although I would not set their boat adrift down the river. You would just put the bodies. I put the bodies in the river, because anything could have happened to it. But by the way, at this point, it is evening, it is dark, it is nighttime. I look at him and when I see this grief,
Starting point is 00:05:53 I put down the crossbow and I say, you are strangers, but I cannot ignore warriors' pain. There may be a way to see them again. There may be a way to look upon your wife and child again, but I cannot guarantee. I know this is with a glorious death. You are quite right, I believe similarly. But even before, there is a way to peer through
Starting point is 00:06:21 the veil for a very short time. You can hear the voice of Great Spirit. You can hear the voice of the mother if she wishes to speak with you. Sometimes you may only witness nightmares. I have no say in this. Your beliefs are different than of those in Osage. Is that why you left? I did not leave. I was sent away. In my community, exile. is worse than death because man was never meant to walk alone. Why haven't you become one of them? If you are careful, if you live in balance, it is possible to avoid them. Believe me, I am no fool that you knew are monstrous.
Starting point is 00:07:09 They wish to consume our flesh. I know this. But you eastern invaders, you're not so different that you knew our honest. You wish to consume our souls. Some of this ain't got a movement of soul left. You need a lot of cigarette. You got a light. I can promise nothing.
Starting point is 00:07:35 I realize you're all strangers, but I feel like perhaps Great Spirit has put you in my path and I am yours. I offer it in peace. Warrior? Or do you wish to wait till you arrive properly? I take it from you. You can gain morale back. Well, I want some too. I will stand watch.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Do we all gain morale? Let's do maybe on this, let's do an endurance. For all who are partaking in the sacrament, let us check endurance to see if it is truly a blessing or a curse that's being brought down upon you. I move every pointed item away from them, and I kind of go towards a window just in case. Four degrees of success.
Starting point is 00:08:34 All right, okay. I have one degree of failure. Okay. Oh, right, that's a bad trip. I have two degrees of success. All right. Let's start with the good stuff then. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:08:45 Okay. All right, so first time the aroma hits my lungs, I inhale it deep, and I feel my body start to just shift in like a gradient from like positive to negative, and it just kind of washes here, and then, Two faces, one of Danny and one of Melissa. And they reach out and they hold my hand. And you see Kent, nothing's there,
Starting point is 00:09:17 but he holds his hands out. And he can feel his little boy's hand on his left hand again. And he can feel his wife running her fingers through his and the soft bump of her engagement ring. And then he looks between them. And there's just white mist between them. And slowly the mist just, and they kind of like fade back into it. And Ken opens his eyes. And he kind of just like leans against the wall just there. Obviously, no one else sees this.
Starting point is 00:10:08 Because Jenny, what are you saying? I got more degrees of success. And I actually, first of all, I want to, I want to feel this rush of confidence. And I start to see this plan unfold with Jefferson City. And I see this newcomer, and I see him being a key player in this, and I see him taking the place. So you see this vision of the future. Yes, and I see him taking the place. Him standing on a hillock, just overlooking Osage, which is now Jefferson City.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Yes, and the slaves, they're free, and came on is dead, and in his place is not. this new. And cheers. And you watch is this what you see inside of Jefferson City now, and this is part of it, because at first this whole thing starts just terribly as you see the grief and the strife that the city currently upholds. And you're watching as the people who are being used as tools, as labor, who are not worthy of the chanoo. And then you also see this shift, this change as this man who emerges as if like an angel coming into this space and all of the hope is brought back into this world.
Starting point is 00:11:35 And you can feel a tipping point of civilization that can be created by just one man. And there's a moment, Jenny, in which you feel this realization that one person can make all the difference between a world of bad and a world of good. and all it takes is one person to make the right choice, or even just the choice. All right, Wraith. Rath takes in the medicine, and he closes his eyes for a moment,
Starting point is 00:12:06 and he sees what looks like a sunset, a beautiful sunset. He feels himself falling beneath the clouds. He's sitting on a plane. and he's looking out a window of the plane, and you've just come down out of the clouds. You can see that there's a city below, and it's surrounded by forest, and he's super excited,
Starting point is 00:12:29 and he taps the brother on the shoulder and points out the window. And they both start looking, and they're looking out the window, and then they notice that the city seems like it's in distress, like they're burning buildings and smoke is rising, crashed vehicles, and things are rising, and they both look at each other,
Starting point is 00:12:45 and they're starting to get worried, and then they feel the, the plane starts to dip a bit and turn. And the angle of the plane changes, and it fills the plane with the amber and red light of the sunset. But the plane is starting to lurch. And then he hears screams coming from the front of the plane.
Starting point is 00:13:08 And it sounds like, then there's a noise that sounds like a beast, like tearing flesh. And he turns to the, his brain. brother next to him, and his brother says to him, I'm going to get up. I'm going to take care of this. And then he wakes up, and he just feels, it feels like he didn't want to experience that memory again. Yeah, it came was all too vivid. You're back now. You're all back now. I saw something about you. No, this is going to sound crazy, but we were supposed to be. And we are, we're going to take down Kaman, and you, and you,
Starting point is 00:13:54 You're gonna replace him. I know, it sounds crazy, but I feel so sure about this. This is what you saw. As clear as I see you now. Your words felt truth, as I did see. I did see them. At this point, by the way, it is gone. And you can see as the amber light of the morning sun
Starting point is 00:14:16 is peering straight and through the small slatted windows of the water treatment center. That's actually what may be even jarred you away. So suddenly, Ray, as I just wanted to remind you all, it's no longer night. It's now the next day. I've been searching for a way to reach them, to remind them. And you've seen that this can be. The war is over and both sides lost.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Kingdoms were reduced to cinders, an army scattered like bones in the dust. Now the survivors claw to what's left of a broken. world praying the darkness chooses someone else tonight. But in the shadow dark, the darkness always wins. This is old school adventuring at its most cruel. Your torch ticks down in real time. And when that flame dies, something else rises to finish the job. This is a brutal rules light nightmare with a story that emerges organically based on the decisions that the characters make. This is what it felt like to play RPGs in the 80s. And man, it is so good to be back. the Glass Cannon podcast as we plunge into the Shadow Dark every Thursday night at 8 p.m.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Eastern on YouTube.com slash the Glass Cannon with the podcast version dropping the next day. See what everybody's talking about and join us in the dark. Then tell me what to do. Jenny pulls out this passport that has the map drawn in the back and we start reviewing it. And would you like me to tell you what you see. Yes, I would love for you to tell me what we see. All right. So from where you're at at the water treatment plant, Most of it before the fall was primarily industrial,
Starting point is 00:16:07 everything that you are on the northern side of the river. What you actually see behind you is just like old trucking supply stations, areas where they would go and bring in large industrial kind of complexes, and then just it was a routing center. There's even a small airstrip that you notice at one point, but at this point looking behind you, all you see is the tall grass, long broken up ages and ages ago. But across the river is Jefferson.
Starting point is 00:16:32 city. There's a quarry to your right. And there is a feedway leading into where the river is that has a sparse amount of tree coverage right before the river begins. On the other side of the rail from where this spillway is, is the state museum, which you recall, after passing by this glorious cathedral, which you're now seeing as a state penitentiary, by the way. You actually are seeing the Missouri State Museum is feeding right into it. And, Chato, you know that the State Museum was converted into essentially the complex of all the ruling elders.
Starting point is 00:17:15 You know? What was once ruling elders, and as now just came on? I look at your map, and I point out small things that I know we changed, like we made this a market, we made this a butcher shop, but I have not been into the city in some time. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:17:32 If they've made alterations or erected gates or cells or... Right. I only know the major structures. Our original plan was to go in from the southern side and, well, free the slaves, create some type of ruckus than we would take out came on. If I can get close enough, then I put my hand on my crossbow, say? And then I take it away. I need to face him.
Starting point is 00:18:05 I need to face him. Came on. Yes. We all need to face him. No matter what injury he has done to you, he has injured ours as well. But if we can, we'll let you have that time. I'm not a young man.
Starting point is 00:18:21 I remember the world before. I'm not a fool. But I was raised to believe different things that in my life I have seen to be true. As I said, the Ch'Anu were sent by the Earth Mother to teach mankind respect. She gave birth to us. As you know, you remember, there were many men before. Cave men, cromagnans, Neanderthals, and now there's only us.
Starting point is 00:18:55 Sucha New are her next children. And we believe they have a leader. His name is Malsumus, the dark one. He stalks the night consuming and consuming and consuming. He does not seek balance. He seeks destruction. And I taught our people we could avoid him or he could be defeated. And Cayman and others thought that perhaps they could ally themselves with this darkness,
Starting point is 00:19:29 that they could become this darkness. If Malsumus consumes, they must consume. Kaman only craves power. The only thing he loves more than power is to be seen as powerful. If he's not there, he will be in a central place. And if I called to him, if I insult him, he will answer.
Starting point is 00:19:55 He will answer. Let's get us in a position where you can insult him. When was the last time you saw him? Was it at the museum? with the rest of the elders? Three winters, four? The days, they blend. Five?
Starting point is 00:20:14 I do not know. Do you think the slaves would rise up? If we somehow were able to free them, do you think they would fight back? I believe so. They will be frightened as anyone would be. I believe I can reach them. Are there still?
Starting point is 00:20:33 Still those among them who remember you? Surely, they must, yes. Surely. I've not been gone so long. And even so, Kaman's followers were never so numerous, but how many people do you have to, before the fourth person bowed? They do not love him.
Starting point is 00:20:56 They obey him. We take out what guards we can, and we arm the slaves with the weapons we get from the guards. We cannot allow one more person to fall under the knife for food. No. And you saw the bodies in the tent. You saw the... I know. You know that no matter how useful,
Starting point is 00:21:15 these freed men will be as a distraction. In a fight, many of them will die. They are not warriors. But they will die as warriors. Always better than as a sheep. I can't help but worry that we are making that choice for them, though. The choice has been made. I will abide by your decision.
Starting point is 00:21:40 We're going to start at the slaughterhouse. Okay. As you gather your materials together and you begin this trek leaving the water treatment plant, is there anything else? I would like to bring the things from these men, the bat, the car shield,
Starting point is 00:21:55 all of these things that could be easily handed out. Can we loot them and see what they have? I have some Raider weapons and I have to give you their essentially improvised weapons. bludgeoning. It's a wooden bat that has been made so that you can do slashing and piercing. So we can take, Kent, your baseball bat, and we can now turn it into a spiked baseball bat, which makes it so it's the same bat, but instead of just doing bludgeoning damage, it also does piercing damage. Which I have bonuses too. Perfect. Okay, good. At the same time, let me see just how the smoke situation works.
Starting point is 00:22:32 So, unfortunately, he used everything he had. He only had two as far as knockout gas goes. Rude. Are there any salvageable bits of Kevlar or armor or anything? I know they kind of got worked. Probably as far as armor goes, you could, the guy who had the big armor on it has been ruined by Wraith. He just completely destroyed.
Starting point is 00:22:57 A lot of the other ones weren't wearing armor, but the shield. Yes, the shield is still around. And as long as it's being held, that would grant you a defense, especially against ballistics. Just for now, I'll bring it. I anticipate giving this to someone else, honestly.
Starting point is 00:23:16 Okay. But at least I theoretically won't get snapped at 400 yards. Right. You know ways that we can use the waterways to access some of these sites within the city? The tunnel should be safe. K-Mond is...
Starting point is 00:23:33 vain, but he is not completely foolish. We should keep an eye out for maybe small traps, tripwires. But they will probably not be heavily guarded because he knows that Chenu do not enter the caves, and he expects no other attacks. We're tunnels. Rath, I want you to lead us. Check.
Starting point is 00:23:53 Yes. That does make a few more preparations. Right. What do you need? When should we leave, first of all, is it came on more accessible? at night or during the day? It's early morning, not like a...
Starting point is 00:24:07 It's early, it's like 7 a.m. Okay, yeah. Do you know anything about the schedule that people in the city keep? I look at the sun and say, by now, they would be moving the workers out, preparing the slaughter for lunch.
Starting point is 00:24:22 It's probably a good time to attempt to get into position to at least survey the place. Everyone will be preparing the work of the day. I say we get to the slaughterhouse. It's not your fight, but I appreciate your help if you find the opportunity to escape and return to your homes. There will be no dishonor in this.
Starting point is 00:24:44 And we don't have any homes. So, are we taking it out for the evening? Slaughterhouse. The slaughterhouse. Yes. All right. So you walk about half a mile or so back east as you continue to survey the area. You keep low.
Starting point is 00:25:01 It's far enough across the river. no one's likely to see you. And as you make your way back down the river, you can actually see an eight-story building. It's hard to miss. It's a giant, giant state prison. And you can see that the marks have came on and various glyphs and effects
Starting point is 00:25:20 have been painted onto it over the course of years. A lot of the old symbols that you are familiar with would have been either adjusted or changed completely over time. Just west of the penitentiary, farther down river, you can see this giant slave pit, the built-in, cragid metal that makes its jarred, inward turn
Starting point is 00:25:51 as it essentially makes some kind of shelter, as it is completely open, but all of the jagged points point inward to prevent any kind of upward and climb over. As you accurately described, they're leading people out from the pens as they begin to start maneuvering the work and for the day. Crossing the river, well, how do you cross the river? How big was the boat? The boat that the... They came over in on? Right, yeah. Was the river flowing the right direction relative to where we are, first of all? It would be going downstream. It would be going down stream. Well, isn't that so much easier to take the boats over? Yes, if you
Starting point is 00:26:31 to take the Raiders boats and push them back downstream in order to kind of control where you dock, so to speak, where the penitentiary is? Yes, I'm just going to see because your profile will be much bigger with boats in the water. Okay, well then probably not just park at the penitentiary, right, right, right. We've got a quick way across right now that looks clear. We may want to take it. Except to you, you can take the boats over. You'll have a bigger profile crossing the water. That's all. We all just took a big hit of Peyton, too. I mean, not that I would know this. Medicinal words may have affected the balance a little bit.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Okay. Oh, that's a good point. Depletion or difficulty diets for everyone who took the peyote. It's right in the boat. I'm like, if you all are clearly wobbly. All right, we'll get in the boat. All right. And we'll just make sure that we...
Starting point is 00:27:20 Make a straight cut. Right. As quickly as possible as you can diagonal across running water. And I'll give you the bend of the doubt is that as you're crossing over, you're crossing over from tree cover going into tree cover on the other side of the like that would make the most amount of sense you cross the river without it's you basically walk over you can see that you paddle over on both sides of the canoe quickly and you keep your heads down as you're continuing to move and you pretty much cut across it in less
Starting point is 00:27:54 than five minutes just right in there pull the boat into the trees right right you kind of can see the large portion of the giant eight story penitentiary that's laid out in front of you. It's huge and it's imposing and you can see here just like ants. People are kind of milling in and milling out around it. At this point, you can actually see that the park is filled with hundreds of people. It's insane that they can spit that many people in such a small amount of space. Do you get any of those radar items, by the way? I should probably pick that up in my stuff.
Starting point is 00:28:29 Two. Why don't you go get them? They're in the boxes. They should be in the boxes. All right. They've been in the boxes. I'm wary of the walls now. Yeah. My only friends. These walls had eyes. Exactly. Oh, interesting. Interesting. That might need another pair of hands here. There's more than what we were told. That's a pleasant surprise for once. Yeah. It's like we have an MP5. I believe that was yours. Good sir. I have a bone. Like a table leg.
Starting point is 00:29:07 Beautiful. You mean that? And two smaller blades. Those are both improvised slashing weapons. Then you've got the baseball bat and then of course your personal offense. Excellent. So as you unload everything into your holding space,
Starting point is 00:29:23 which we're assuming you're carrying on you. Yes, a machine pistol. A very nasty looking baseball. ball bat, some improvised bludgeoning weapons, aka a bone, as well as some improvised slashing weapons, which are some of the Raiders knives and items. We explained the riot shield as earlier, and yeah, that seems to be about covering it. I would like to tuck that pistol in my bag belt. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:49 Well, it's a machine pistol. There's no tucking it into a coat. If you'd like to put it in a bag, you could, or... If it's that big, I don't read it. Yes. Okay. So then where is it going? Is it staying here?
Starting point is 00:30:06 You could make a sling for it. Keep it tucked under your coat. Hanging. We could leave it by the escape route and trying to get out of your alive, just in case we got one extra gun at the end. I really think we should take every weapon. I think we need everything, right. Do any of you have a handgun you'd be willing to trade?
Starting point is 00:30:23 Just a simple pistol? I can give you one. And in that case, I will hand her machine pistol and I will tuck this pistol in my back spell. Great. Ray could use it instead of his pistol. Great. All right. And you've got the bag set as well too, plus so many belts and straps and items to shove an MP5 somewhere.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Yeah, I take, Ray takes off one of his sort of studded belts and retrofits it into a sling. And then, yeah, slides it back. So he's got it sort of hanging. at a side. As you move, it kind of like sloppily slaps against the side of you and it no, no, no. I know what I'm doing. Yeah, okay. This may look jangly, all this sort of stuff, but it's, it's purposeful. Okay, good, good, good. Yeah, so we'll pick this back up with you guys across the river on the southern end. As you can see on the other side of the tree cover that you've parked the boat on, you can see the penitentiary. It looms over you. As you can
Starting point is 00:31:26 to see this old world item that was used to keep people in and out of society. It's now being used to, well, as a glorified refrigerator. What would you like to do? How would you like to approach this situation? What's the plan? Are there any like obvious guard? Like a person standing with a machine gun, one.
Starting point is 00:31:50 Yeah, perfect. Yes, so you can see that all of the slaves that are being driven in and are are being guarded by armed guards. And they are very well weaponized. You can see they have every type of firearm available to them. You know, short carbines to long guns to deducing in AK-47. It just happens to be there.
Starting point is 00:32:18 And they seem to be doing a great job of standing on pedestals, looking intimidating, and watching as the workforce is being dragged. being dragged out. You also can hear the tail-tail crack of a bullwhip as it is just echoing through the southern side of Jefferson City. We don't see how many guards there are? You can see about.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Four. I believe the guards are there to help intimidate the slaves to keep them from revolting. But they may not be there specifically to guard the main entrance. Yeah, you're most of the most. watching them walk the column into the penitentiary. Now the penitentiary has very high walls with guard towers on them,
Starting point is 00:33:05 but it's so much space. It's kind of from where you're at. You can actually see the penitentiary is to the right of you. And again, there's just all this tree cover that's kind of giving you an opportunity to kind of peer through everything. Are all the towers manned? No. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:23 No, that's the thing about the penitentiary is it doesn't look manned at all. It looks like the only people who are really doing anything are the ones that are bringing people in. How much open space is between the tree line and the fence? The tree line in the open fence is about 100 feet or so. There's actually a small kind of side road that goes uphill. So in front of you, you can actually see as the tree line curves up into a hill. And part of why you're getting the good covers because this pedantiary is sitting low and you are essentially on a high part of the hill.
Starting point is 00:33:58 All right? And there is a winding trail that comes down leading into the main entrance of the prison. That is the trail in which the slaves are being walked across, kind of like criss crosses as they are all walking downhill. There's any way to sneak inside there without having to, well, go full out right now.
Starting point is 00:34:19 I want to get in there and start from the inside. And there's no reason to attack from the front. So is there any, I mean, can you look around and see if there's some sort of alternate entrance? Yeah, I want to look and see if, like, maybe near one of the other guard towers, like if it's angled around, if there's something that's out of the eyeline of the guards. So you can look down the rail a little bit, and not only do you see that the wall's been broken in several places, and maybe enough so that you could climb up if you investigate a little closer.
Starting point is 00:34:54 But it's also close enough to the rail line that you can see that box cars are prolific all along the side of this building. Okay. We should move from cover to cover to box cars and there, that weak point where the wall is broken. That's our access. Need the way.
Starting point is 00:35:14 Great. So make a stealth check. All of us? Gloriously enough. just race because he's taking point. All right. I have three degrees of success. All right.
Starting point is 00:35:27 Narrate it for me. I take a look and I kind of time it so at the point where the guards are, you know, looking at the, I wait until like, you know, one of them start saying something to a slave. And then I just move forward quickly from box car to box car, you know, slapping myself up against them and then motioning to the rest of the group
Starting point is 00:35:47 when good timing is. to stop or to group up. And then, yeah, then we make it over slightly around the corner at the broken wall. Yeah. You can actually see as part of the morning sun is actually giving you a little kind of long shadow that's casting upon your side of the wall of this home.
Starting point is 00:36:07 Yeah, and I start uncoiling rope from my climbing kit and getting ready to, and then I throw it up over the wall. And then I guess at this point I got to make a climbing check. Yeah, I was gonna say for those three of degrees, it's the sex you got on the stealth. One to get there, one to get the team. And let's call it one,
Starting point is 00:36:28 to start just getting all the climbing gear ready to throw items up. Okay. Yeah, everyone's gonna need climbing checks on this one. But you basically get it up there. Yeah, can I set it up in a way that it makes it easier for the rest of them? Yeah, if you climb up first and set pinions,
Starting point is 00:36:42 if you just start using this thing. Yeah, that's my intention. All right, then you're gonna actually use the climbing gear, which means it's going to require a depletion point. All right? And then you can make the climb check first. Okay. I have good climbing also, I believe. Yeah. Decent climb. So that's an eight. Yes. That's, I'm pretty sure that's five degrees of success. Let me check.
Starting point is 00:37:05 Yeah, it's easily five degrees of success. Okay. Yeah. Excellent. Roll my depletion for it. Impressive. I got a three. No, you're fine. Yeah. I run at the wall and basically just jump. Yeah. and then like kind of step up at like a cat. Yeah. I use the little things they look like kind of like binder clips, like little wedges. You put them inside the little cracks in the wall. And you release it and it opens up.
Starting point is 00:37:28 And then there's a little islet and I run the rope through it. So as you run up and release these kind of, do you know what they're called? Doohickeys. That is the technical term. As you place these doohickeys up and up and you start laying the line making sure that anyone should slip and fall,
Starting point is 00:37:45 You basically have them at the very top. Yeah. You'll be able to support. I will give everyone one degree of success base before they even roll on their climb check for this. Okay? So, roll up your climb. I will go last.
Starting point is 00:38:02 You're guaranteed one degree of success. So three total, including your bonus. Great. Two degrees of failure. Okay. Four degrees of success, including one. Since I'm after her, can I give up to a mind to just like steady her as she's slipping? Sounds good to me.
Starting point is 00:38:21 Thank you. So narrate this out for me. I go second, and I'm able to navigate easier because I have good climbing skill, and I'm able to meander my way up the wedges that Wath has left. I also managed to grab a few of the bigger supply chunks and pull that up. Four degrees of success as well, too. Exactly. I think that's worthy of some survival points.
Starting point is 00:38:46 I can either give you information or stuff, which would you prefer? I want information on how we're going to, looking for a safe route. You don't get to determine with you. Okay. I want information. You take what he gives you. Yeah. As you're climbing up, and like you said, you're using your climbing skill as well as these wedges that he's,
Starting point is 00:39:10 great, has put inside of it, you kind of look over to your left out to where the camera. is. And you can see what I described earlier as this packed, just muddy, dirty area of people of work as they just have put as many people as they can in there in one particular area. And it is hundreds of folks at this stage. You see most of them are muddy and nearly naked as these kind of ramshackle converted tents are pretty much the only cover they get as this crazy steel, structure is just mocking them as it just lays out on top. But you can also see from the
Starting point is 00:39:50 vantage point in there is that those four guards that you see are escorting people out from the slave pits are it. That's all you can see. And as you're lifting up higher, you look to your right and you can see City Hall, which is about four blocks away from where you are. And at this stage, You're seeing all of Osage kind of laid out in front of you. And you can see that the entire city is basically one strip of repurposed town from east to west along the river, going from poorest to richest, kind of the central point being this giant capital building. The people below, we should make sure that Chato is the first one they see.
Starting point is 00:40:36 I can only see four guards. And that looks like it's it. And these are all on the outside. These are all on the outside. And Kent, and shoot, the second one up, and he's helping other people out. Give me, give me, give me, give me. Ever get to the end of a podcast episode and think, now what?
Starting point is 00:40:54 Well, instead of scrolling through a million choices, try something you should know. I'm the host, Mike Carruthers, and every episode is packed with fascinating, useful, and surprising things you'll actually use in your life. from human behavior, relationships, health, science, and everyday mysteries. So while you're already in your podcast app, just search for something you should know. And listen to an episode right now, something you should know. I will tell you that as you climb over this wall, you realize that the buildings are much higher than the walls.
Starting point is 00:41:29 And as you're basically making this climb up, you can see a couple of shorter like two-story barracks kind of situation. but then there is another layer before you even get into the penitentiary itself. You're kind of just getting into the grounds at the moment, like the lower grounds of the building. I wonder if they keep the majority of people in a deeper sanctum, or maybe those are just more important prisoners.
Starting point is 00:41:53 This may be the bulk. This may be the greatest number. There's a lot of people. Their food supply. Go for the greatest number. Forward. Yeah. So you hop down from that side, kind of rappel down,
Starting point is 00:42:08 and then make it into this graveyard of old buildings that may have once been used for either worksheds or some kind of machine yard that prisoners may have used to work at. But the sauna is starting to get hot as it starts to lift itself up, making its way to its zenith. You have an empty yard that you basically can walk through
Starting point is 00:42:31 the next 200 feet or so. So is you're making the 100 to 200 foot dash through until you get to another set of walls, which thankfully are broken, craggy, and completely unattended to as well? Okay. Didn't look like there was anybody covering. No, you looked up to the tall building
Starting point is 00:42:50 and you can kind of see the lonely, desolate, stone monstrosity that's to the side of you. And it's amazing that so few people could use up so much space. We're getting closer. Because he doesn't see anyone, doesn't mean there isn't anyone. I know when I was on the first wall,
Starting point is 00:43:11 by the prisoners, there are armed guards. I think we need to be extra careful going over this last wall. They're still all outside, though, yes? Yes. But they may have moved by now. There may be ones in the yard who, although they are not good at their jobs,
Starting point is 00:43:26 are there to keep the prisoners in order. Yes, they have grown lazy. We must not repeat that mistake. So are you going to be climbing this wall as well too. Yeah. Roll depletion and then roll your climb again. Let's do the same thing. Two depletion dice for this time. I can use mine instead I've climbing gear too and just get one depleted out of mine. It's up to you. We might or we can yeah sure sure go ahead. Okay. Well I mean let's let's do it together and you can at least both make checks with your gear, right?
Starting point is 00:43:53 Yes. Okay. You can both make checks, but he's the one who's going to be going up first in that circumstances unless he's just handing you the equipment and he's making the check. All right. Then you can He can just use, he can use his skill, but it's your gear, you will roll depletion for that gear. Does it make sense? Absolutely, yeah. What you're climbing at? You have seen me climb. I have. You climb as well? You know to scale a few redwood here and there. All right. I let him go first then. But I, you know, I'll follow up. I'll roll the same time. Again, you'll be getting the benefit. Oh, yeah, you'll be rolling the dice anyway. Yes. Okay. He just, the benefit will be if he makes the success with the gear. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I have one degree of success.
Starting point is 00:44:32 Great. You get up there, people get the bonus. Okay. But we will. Go last again. And fall massively. Three degrees of failure. All right. Oh, but I have, that's a seven, right?
Starting point is 00:44:49 So I have five. Yeah, go ahead. That's a seven, right? I'm going to help you. Oh, all right. So three, can I use them all to just? Yes. Jenny, as you meet up with Kent.
Starting point is 00:45:01 You watch as both Rayth and Chato decide speed is more important at this point, and they both, well, Chato actually decides maybe at this point speeds more important, and he gets on the wall while Raith is still climbing, adding to the amount of weight that these acres have to hold. And as they're about halfway, maybe three quarters up, you can start to hear pins being pulled out as Kent,
Starting point is 00:45:27 who may have not been paying attention because he was looking over the side, but you looking down there, dig your heels in in a way, And your tiny frame just holds onto both of them as they have to finish scaling up on their own. But you basically are sitting there with, and you can feel all the blood circulation getting cut off on your arms
Starting point is 00:45:50 as you're basically supporting the weight of these two men before Kent has an opportunity to come and balance the weight out with you. Yeah. Thank you. All four, you make it up to the top and crouching down, you can start to see. This yard is definitely,
Starting point is 00:46:08 the one, which people are being brought in. And you can see that to a certain point, you're familiar with this being a slaughterhouse, but a lot of these people look confused or just flat out terrified. There's a good chance that whatever fate they're deemed for, they don't know about. At least it's abundantly clear. It doesn't seem like this is any kind of processing center. This doesn't seem like anything sinister is going on. It just looks like they're being slowly led
Starting point is 00:46:42 into the building at this point. Can we see the guards? Yes, they're walking alongside with them in the same way they would expect a chain gang kind of to be walking along with armed guards. Are there any that are separate or off kind of by themselves? No. They're all grouped in, and how many four?
Starting point is 00:47:05 Two to a side. And is there any entrance aside from this main entrance that they're hurting everyone into? Is there some type of... They're all walking across the yard to go up into the second level of the penitentiary. Okay. And there's no other way to get into that second level. It's just, oh, well, you can climb. A third wall, which is the one you're on top of, which is built off of the one that you're on top of.
Starting point is 00:47:31 You have to think of this thing. Kind of like a cigarette or something? Yes, almost like a, like some kind of keeper. fort in which it's like there is a there is a ground level and then another level built on top of that and then a third zygaret is literally the best analogy that i have for it it is a penitentiary zygirate that is having to be led up and so it'll occasionally have a sharp incline as the prisoners are being led uphill into the main building you're on the first tier so to speak oh okay i thought we're on the one by now. Well, you're up in there, but again, it's the yard. You've been hopping over.
Starting point is 00:48:11 Oh, the third tier is the actual building itself. I mean, they're going to the second floor of. Yeah, because you're on the wall of the yards at this stage. Yards are on the ground. And the yards are on the ground. And the yards are where the people are. and they're being walked up to the gates leading to the second tier. Are there any people, like, immediately beneath us? Or are they, like, more being processed in? You would have to walk along the walls in order to get to where the gate. opened, which you could do at this point, you're in essentially what used to be guard walls, all right?
Starting point is 00:48:43 However, that being said, guard walls were meant to make sure that prisoners could always see guards. So you would be running along fairly exposed at this stage. I motion at your bow and I say, how fast can you kill him? My arrow is precise, but there may be others who notice. These people, when they see you, When they see it happen, I guarantee at least one of them will scream.
Starting point is 00:49:10 But scream common in a slave factory. A gunshot is not. Agreed. So I look to her basically to see he's cool with me shooting somebody. Yeah. I... I... Well, I want to take out as many as...
Starting point is 00:49:25 I don't know. We use a splash grenade and just kill them as quickly as we can. Well, that'll disorient a bunch of people. Yes, but it won't. It won't hurt them. I mean, it would definitely draw attention. Which is what we don't want. Right.
Starting point is 00:49:41 Okay. What if we somehow, we see that they're being brought in, we see that there's another level. We know that there's a doorway. What if we could get above the doorway on that third level through the wall? We walk along the wall through the connector to the ziger, and then up on the side so that... Set up an ambush?
Starting point is 00:50:01 Set up an ambush. So that when the right went off, they finished. jump in that first load and those four guards go back to the pens, we can drop right down on them right there. Is that what the geography's like? Would that work? You'd have to climb the second tier wall, but then yes, you could actually, in theory, be right on top of them as they go and through the second gate. How much of a claim are we talking? Relative to the two walls before? So you're already easily 20 or 30 feet up. You'd be scaling another 20 or 30 feet up. So you'd be sitting about 100 feet above the yard as they start to climb uphill.
Starting point is 00:50:37 How far away is the next wall from the current wall we are? So you'd be making a right because again you're kind of along this yard but there's a cross wall that takes you up to where the second tier is. So you basically be walking along this wall to climb up this second level and then come over to where like I said they're being led up. Okay and that's where they are. While they're being led across the yard right now I mean you'd have to move faster than them because you'd have to make up for time because they're all walking across the yard right now leading up to where your potential ambush point would be and we're good as far as like not being very exposed or visible not at this stage no if you get any closer then I would say yes but you're still several hundred you're still like another hundred feet away at this point I'm having trouble visualizing it so I'm okay let's try it we have to try would you like me to draw out for you up there that would actually I'm because I'm looking at an actual map here
Starting point is 00:51:33 here. Yeah, okay. You know? And so I'm trying to actually be as accurate to this penitentiary as I possibly can't. Do not shoot until they do. Yeah. Imagine, if you will, this being a large eight-story building
Starting point is 00:51:48 that I described. Then imagine this wall kind of being part of where you're at. This is a view from above? This is a three-quarter view. If I'm kind of looking at the horizon, so this is a yard. that you first hopped over this wall, all right? And then this decrepit skeleton buildings. I talked to you about us coming across this way.
Starting point is 00:52:12 You came over here. You climbed to this other wall, which you were sitting on top of right now. Okay. So basically you leapfrogged, came across, and then came up to the next line. This is another wall right up here. That again leads to another gate,
Starting point is 00:52:28 which will lead to where this kind of, again, this is assuming this is where the inches of the building is. This is a wall on a wall, because if you can imagine this is a second kind of hill. All of the people are being led through here. Okay, right. So what Kent was talking about was getting above that entrance
Starting point is 00:52:46 that they're leading them to. You would walk along this way, go up this other wall, walk along this wall, and then come down after they've made their way through. This wall that we're on, is this still 20 to 30 feet above them? Like if we get to the gate, We're 20 to 30 feet up.
Starting point is 00:53:03 Yeah. So in theory, what I was talking about earlier about you coming around this way, you could come around this way, but this, you're gonna have a pretty strong profile along this wall. So really, we need to get over to the gate and off the gate before they arrive, more or less,
Starting point is 00:53:18 if we intend to take them close. If you intend to take them close and if you wanna take them from as they come through the gate and not on top. Also, highest priority, make sure none of the four leave this yard and go get reinforcements. Absolutely. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:53:30 Well, let's try and get in position and then we'll know what our options are, because if we get spotted, this is all I can do. I'm going to need one more climb. Okay. Five successes masterfully. Masterfully. I'm impassioned by viewing, freeing my people.
Starting point is 00:53:49 Are we gonna go bonus from the climbing gear at all? Well, you all just rolled it at one time, so no one told me there was a point in any depletion or gear was gonna be used. So that- Well, I thought some of that was just natural. I decided. Okay. The point of taking point on a mission
Starting point is 00:54:03 that someone has to take point. So you're all climbing at this stage. Okay. Chateau scrambles like a madman. You all may choose to use. I got four successes as well. I actually have some failures. I rolled 100.
Starting point is 00:54:19 My climb's normally 64. If I'm not getting the benefit of gear, then that is three. Three failures. Three degrees of failure. Is it possible for each of us to give up one to help him, or does one person have to do it all? I just want to hear how it's narrating.
Starting point is 00:54:33 If that's what you do. Yeah, just make it cool. Let's make it cool and then. Right, all of us give up one to we're all just like, I only have one. Oh, well. I've got four so I can use two. I'll give up two also and still have three.
Starting point is 00:54:44 All right, I would love to hear how this happens. I realize I'm this close and I begin essentially vertically sprinting up the hill until I hear him slip and I realize, remember the mission and kind of like scramble backwards to like try and grab one of his hands. Can we do like a monkey? where like, like, I'm in between and it's just like, I put a foot wrong and I start skidding down,
Starting point is 00:55:10 and then they both have their arms out, and she slows me down, but then he finally catches me. Excellent. Yeah, so you start to slide down, Jenny slows you down, Chato grabs you, who kind of lifts you back up into a position where you can get a footing again, and you can see, because time is against you as you're watching these line of slays being led,
Starting point is 00:55:33 by these four guards just continuing to walk across the yard. But you make it over, you're 100 feet down from splatting down on top of the main yard, but you make it over and repel down. To the other side. To the other side. Is there anything I can do with my three remaining successes? Like, can we go quickly?
Starting point is 00:55:56 Yeah, I got two as well. That haven't been resolved. With that, yeah, let's get you all in position with those. And again, it's either, actions, information, or stuff. So if you want to get moving and make that double time and come across, and sure, by all means, no one's got a critical failure. Ideal position for an ambush with as many guards as possible being part of that ambush.
Starting point is 00:56:18 Like, oh, well, a four, basically. Both Chato then and Jenny can be on the other side of the gate. Right. The one where they had to cross basically around before everyone starts coming up. Before we get across, I say to you all, I will take the man on the back right. All right. So.
Starting point is 00:56:39 Who are you taking? Back left. See like a piece of shit beard. Got him. And it's a piece of shit. All right. You've got two on one side of the gate, the other. Two on the other side.
Starting point is 00:56:51 We're not gonna shoot unless they shoot. Right, right. Right. So the first sign you see is actually, as you're sitting and you, are waiting and ducking in cover, the first person you actually see is a slave as they slowly start to kind of walk through.
Starting point is 00:57:10 And look at them and I go. And they kind of second goes by, and they just keep walking. But there was kind of a clear, she like looks back. You can see it's a blonde woman with hair down to her waist, and she's just as emaciating. Her eyes are white. as they possibly can be and wide as it goes.
Starting point is 00:57:38 And she looks back several times. She kind of like nervously starts to pick up pace a little bit, move a little bit. And you see one of the guards go, you get back here, as you watch him start to run along and grab her by the shoulder and slam her down. And starts taking out like a small leather baton that has a large balling end of it.
Starting point is 00:58:01 And he just jams it into her chest. And it doesn't spark, it doesn't, and do anything like that, but he just kind of like thuds, and you can hear this lead and like punch as it jams it into her chest and start pulling her back up. So he's the first one across the gate. Is anyone going for him?
Starting point is 00:58:17 He's literally the first one across. Stick with the plan, so when she takes him, I come out and take the one I said I would. All right, so let's do this. You have the drop on them, so all of you are, I'm gonna count as a speed of one. You can all just roll your check checks. Okay.
Starting point is 00:58:38 So how are we looking degrees of success? Two? Two degrees of success. All right. Are you, I'm assuming everyone's spending the degree of success of damage. Did everybody get their speed? There's no speed because you're all count as one for this ambush. Oh, because we're ambushing.
Starting point is 00:58:51 That's very cool. Right. All right. Yes, so I will hit and add damage first to mine. Yeah. Okay, great. So one, and then I'll roll your damage and let's just hear total damage on everybody. If you want mine.
Starting point is 00:59:03 This. I mean, I'll roll damage after. Yeah, we'll roll after because I need to do. 11. Don't have enough damage dice for everyone. Here you go. Second world problem. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:13 Okay. I got four successes and I used them for a head shot. Right. So that is, let's see, 2, 7, 11, 15 points of damage. 15? 15. Okay. I got 11 with my machete.
Starting point is 00:59:28 11 with your machete. A pitiful six. Six. How many does the baseball get? One damage? One. Actually, yeah, since it's a slash, you're going to have, it's more lethal, so it's It's more lethal, so it gets a base of one.
Starting point is 00:59:38 Okay. Yeah. The world of Sonic the Hedgehog has been thrust into a not-so-dark, not-so-stormy, hard-boiled detective story that probably nobody saw coming. Follow Sonic and the Intrepid Chaotic's detective agency as they take on their biggest case yet. This high-flying action-packed adventure will take them across the world,
Starting point is 01:00:05 fighting for every clothing. in five. It's one heck of a tale, which is good, because this story might be the only thing that can save their lives. Well, if that's all, I can just dispose of you. Wait, what? All will be revealed in. Sonic the Hedgehog presents The Chaotic's Case Files. Listen now, wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 01:00:39 And then anything else? Are you spending degrees of success? I only had one, and I was going to spend that on a stun for it. Then use it to stun. Okay. Yeah. So you had two. Okay.
Starting point is 01:00:50 All right. As you basically come out, you just kind of whack this guy up right in his chest as the spikes just kind of sink in and do a very small amount of puncture damage. He just doubles over. I'm going to add speed to him for the next round. You got 15, you said? 11. 11? Okay, so Jenny, you take your machete and just clean down right on top of his shoulder, right on the here.
Starting point is 01:01:18 And you watch as he just kind of like, as he looks, he kind of puts his hands up to scream as you chop it down onto his arm, basically. And you kind of watch as it sticks in his forearm as he's using the bone to basically hold your blade up as he's doing his best to pull the AK around. but it's long and unwieldy as he's trying to just shove it into inside of you. Race. I had 15 points of damage on, like a fired arrow, like a headshot. Just in the chest. Just, head shot, chest shot. You just went him straight through the heart, he dropped without a scream.
Starting point is 01:01:55 Okay. Down. And six. Only six. All right. So your bolt, you basically take the guy in the leg as it kind of like screams over to the side, but he wasn't exactly in the perfect position yours. You were going for the mid-center, just center mass,
Starting point is 01:02:12 and you ended up putting a bolt in his knee, so to speak. I used to know an adventure like him. He's proposing. As this bolt kind of goes in the knee, and you watch as he just bends his knee down and just, ah! As he just starts screaming wildly as the other man who is just grunting, and he's going to try to at least take some kind of, of defensive shot against you.
Starting point is 01:02:38 Give me a couple of, I've got difficulty. Yeah, need one more. As he's attempting to do something. So Jenny, this guy just kind of like is holding again your blade at bay as he just attempts to swing the AK around. I got an 86 by the way for him. That's 86 plus 8. That's gonna make him a 93, 94.
Starting point is 01:03:04 This is five degrees of failure for him. He swings the AK around as if he's gonna try to shoot you, but you with your other hand, you disarm him and drop the AK down to the ground as you hear it clatter as it falls across, and he just kind of like puts this other hand in his arm and just is like, ah! As you can start to feel the bone break underneath. All right, now we can roll speed for everybody
Starting point is 01:03:29 for the next round, so intense. Finish him. You wanna finish him? Same, finish him. So same checks all around. Well, I finished my guy, so I can run in and help another one. Finish my guy. Mine's probably the least injured at this point. But he's also stunned.
Starting point is 01:03:45 He's prone and stunned, yeah. He's prone, so he's okay. And not screaming. Go for the screams. Go for the scream. Two speed die or one speed die? Well, I want to, so for people who are just doing your same checks, like you're firing two speed dice, please. Yours is one because you got the machete.
Starting point is 01:04:01 So yeah, I'm just gonna draw an arrow turn and then fire at, I don't want to I don't want to hit people who are engaged, so I'm gonna try to help him finish his off. All right, so one speed dice for you. Okay. And then you're finishing your guy off. Fishing my off with the same baseball bat. Alright, so get that to speed as part of yours, and let's start doing this again.
Starting point is 01:04:21 I'm gonna roll. All right, Jenny and Kent, how'd you do degrees of success, reviews of failure? I had a failure, but I wanted to use my last competence point. To zero it out? To zero it out. Okay. So you are just basically,
Starting point is 01:04:35 putting all of your weight into this at the moment. You haven't tried to clear it out and hit again. It's a force of will at this stage. And he is just, he's got this look in his eye. And you can actually see because he's got a hockey mask on that's been painted with the symbol of, the symbol of K-Mond right on the front of it. But you can kind of see his eyes.
Starting point is 01:04:59 They don't look scared. They don't look afraid. They look at this. All right, as Kent. Well, how'd you do? I had three degrees of failure. Three degrees of failure. So I would rather spend two confidence points.
Starting point is 01:05:15 Did you get to one? To get to one. All right, how would you like to resolve this one? So I go to finish him off as these down, and I just take too big of a swing. Because I get too excited, I want to stick the spike in a sign. I just whip. Just right over it.
Starting point is 01:05:32 Just right over him. Yeah, and you just watch this kind of, I think it throws you off balance. I'm gonna add another speed onto you for next round. Okay. Okay. And then, Raythe, you're up next with the five. Yeah, I got five degrees of success. Okay.
Starting point is 01:05:47 So I'm going to, yeah, I just. All into damage? I just turn, and then yeah, I'm gonna try to shoot this guy in the eye. Roll it. Can I roll my one damage from a machete? Yes, yes, yes. Okay, all the damage.
Starting point is 01:06:03 So that's 20 plus 6, 26 damage. White through the eyes. Okay. Like through the eye. As you just kind of watch it, it kind of comes down and he just falls back down. So that's two. Jotto?
Starting point is 01:06:22 So my target has dropped, and hers is engaged. So Kent's target is still on the ground? Yes. Yeah. I will put my one round into him then. I have one degree of success. Okay, great, yeah, put it into it. Okay. Plus whatever the base is for the weapon as well.
Starting point is 01:06:41 Right. Four. Four. Okay. Because Great Spirit is forsaking. Because it acts. So Chato, as you pull the bolts back and lean in, you fire another bolt.
Starting point is 01:06:55 And as you watch as Kent just kind of like whiffs it down, you watches another bolt just kind of just sinks into his shoulder. shoulder as he, and he kind of just takes the bolt and just ricks it out as quick as he possibly can, and he actually tries to take it and shove it right into Kent's leg as well, too. Pretty metal. Okay. Can I have you make a dodge check, sir? Yes. 12. Nice. Great. Which is two degrees of success. Okay. I'm only going to get one for you then. So I'm going to be putting four. So I took another four, so I'm right there at the next damage. If you get one point of damage,
Starting point is 01:07:38 it will take you over to an injury. You'll have to allocate it, all right? So you basically watch as this guy takes this bolt up and then slams it down on the side of your leg and you kind of move your knees just in time, but not before you feel the cut of this thing, just make a scash down the side of your leg as you can feel small amount of blood,
Starting point is 01:08:03 trickle as your genes are just ripped open from this guy. Oh, come on, come on. Trying. And then Jenny, grapple check. Raple check? Yes, with so much difficulty dice for him. Yeah. Shetty in his arm.
Starting point is 01:08:23 Are any of your weapons defensive, grappling defensive? You know shetty? It's in her hand, and it's in the guy. It's okay, he got between these two explosives. which is 10, that's 99, and another exploding. He got over 100. I had four degrees of success. All right.
Starting point is 01:08:42 Then that's going to be five degrees of failure on my end, and it's going to be four degrees of success on your end. I will actually allow you to convert my five degrees of failure into damage if you want. Yes, absolutely. Then roll five damage against it. Okay. Wow. Okay.
Starting point is 01:09:00 Yes. That was probably the one. Well, too explicit. Oh, okay. Isn't that all? Yeah. Okay, well, I mean. Yeah, 10 plus seven plus three, 20.
Starting point is 01:09:11 20. Nary to me his grisly demise. I pull the machete out. It's still in his arm, by the way, as he's doing this, is he's just looking at you and he's just in there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Do it, just do it.
Starting point is 01:09:25 I want to see you do it. And I whip it out. Lifts his hand up and tries to grab the machine. and spin it around and just right into his heart. Yeah. As the gun drops for the second time as he gurgles blood out of his mouth, you pull it out, just plops down onto the ground.
Starting point is 01:09:44 Dead. So one's still alive. Yes. It's the one. One that's got a bolt from you in it and stabbing him. Yes, right. Well, he's stabbing him with a bolt from me.
Starting point is 01:09:55 Yes. Particularly and gentlemanly, my friend. Yeah, yeah. All right, well, this is it. This is the last round. They're terrified, cowering, scared. Every slave at this point has just started running.
Starting point is 01:10:06 Just everywhere they possibly can. Like scattered like roaches across this rail yard. As long as they're in the prison yard. Right, that's fine. Yeah. We can't get them in the crossfire right now, so that's good. Okay, go ahead. Finishing, are we all just piling on this guy?
Starting point is 01:10:22 Yeah. All right. So who's shooting and who's stabbing? I'm still going to shoot him. Yeah, I think I'm still going to shoot too. Shoot and shoot. All right. Jenny and Kent? garbage speed but many success. I guess I don't want to get in the way of this, but I mean, yeah, I guess I'll rush in with my machete. All right, rushing.
Starting point is 01:10:40 Oh, I agree. I'll just shoot slowly but accurately. I'm going to hold the bat and back up a little bit, just taking the wound and do a hold and wait and watch the doorway. Okay, that's fine. Okay. Why don't you make a quick composure check just for me as a reaction just so I can tell you if anyone else comes down a lot? They are hating or not. One guy is.
Starting point is 01:10:59 57. It's one degree of security. 100 degrees? Yes. Okay, so you are like, these guys have this. As you kind of turn around and start looking at the door, making sure that nobody else is gonna come out of this as well too. Tell me what's up? All right, so I had one degree of failure
Starting point is 01:11:17 and I went to Russian, but then I see Raith loading up and I just step back. Step back. Wise. And you five, I can tell you, this man has not much left inside of him. So if I see four degrees of success there. How many of you go? I actually have some failures, which I'm going to have to narrate.
Starting point is 01:11:37 All right. So yeah, I see you going in for him, and I hesitate. Yeah. And I pull too hard on the bow string. Yeah. And it snapped the bow string. The compound bow and it just, you know, unrolls basically.
Starting point is 01:11:50 Yeah, yeah. And the arrow goes like, how many degrees of failure did you have? I have three, that's worth it. Yeah. You break your bow. Absolutely. Yeah. Can I have the bow card, please?
Starting point is 01:12:00 Yeah. Perhaps we can restring it. Oh well, sweet bow. That's fine. I have a fucking MP5 now, so. May I? Which I'm not as good. Well, but I'm not a nasty commission.
Starting point is 01:12:11 Oh, yeah, that's right. Oh, yeah. I was out of arrows almost anyway, so. He wanted you to see it. Yeah. It's still hurt. It's still hurt. I've had a lot of fun with that, though.
Starting point is 01:12:20 Yeah. Oh, great. Well, Manchato. My eyes filled with horror at the stamping of his bow. Yeah. Shoot this man. in the face. Oh yes. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:12:37 Yeah. You're close up. I don't think we need to say anything more. You have narrated his grizzly eyes perfectly. As this last man, you pin him to the floor as he just kind of like grabs the bolt for a second and then just goes lifeless as he falls down to the ground. So he was already on the ground. I turned to the people in the yard and I just say, brothers and sisters. Brothers and sisters.
Starting point is 01:13:02 You watch us, your very low tone kind of catches the eyes of a couple of them, but they look around and they start, a few recognize you, but a few others look like they're just kind of huddling together or just flat out, bolting straight from the front door. Which is closed, right? No, it's open. Yeah, they let the people,
Starting point is 01:13:21 they let the people into the yard. Okay, you know. But a few have your attention for sure. Right. You start taking some of the weapons out and like gently putting them on the ground. and say your freedom is at hand if you would fight for it. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:13:36 They look at you, they look at you. We don't want to die today. No, we're free. If we're free, fine. You watch as they actually took over and grabbed the weapons and they started heading the gate as well themselves. They look completely unconvinced. I step forward.
Starting point is 01:13:52 You were being led here to be slaughtered. Your food. What? You'll start to see that gathered the attention of some other people who are behind you as well, too? Like, no. I've seen it.
Starting point is 01:14:05 I've seen the bodies of humans played along with children. You are here for food. So you can either fight, or you can, you're gonna, you can either. We're gonna flee to the countryside if that's what that is. Oh, oh, is that what you're gonna do?
Starting point is 01:14:23 Out there with the infected. How will you survive? Better men will find you if the infected do not. We came here together for a reason. to survive. Help us help you. Have you seen the skin tense? As we have.
Starting point is 01:14:40 Tennessee is this weird juxtapositioning nature. There's men and women here, and you can see some of them have cobbled together into apparently couples or groups, and you can understand that they're trying to come to a decision. This ultimatum is a lot for them to swallow. Flea into the woods and potentially die or arm up and guaranteed get shot.
Starting point is 01:15:07 One man comes forward, he has long, ragged hair, beard that's grown out a bit from weeks and weeks of being unkempt. He seems to have a little more muscle mass than the rest of them. He comes from and goes, thank you for killing the guards. We are weak and we have no weapons minus the few items you have.
Starting point is 01:15:28 Why should we rush headlong straight into death? Do I recognize this man? You can see this man is his visage and his accent is a little familiar. He might be an old citizen of posage. No more than anything, he doesn't look like one of the, any of the other ones who are either just, in fact, it's hard to tell exactly who these people are.
Starting point is 01:15:53 They're so covered in dirt and muck. Roughly how old is he? He's about 25, 26. I walk up to him and I say, I know your face. Do you know mine? It takes a second to look at you. Jato? No.
Starting point is 01:16:09 I leaned forward very slowly and I just touch my forehead to his. He receives it, but his eyes just grow wide as he kind of, he watches this, like almost this goose bump feeling. No. No, you were exiled. You should have never come back. I came back for you. I came back for you. Many of us, Fats came up.
Starting point is 01:16:33 after you left, and every single one of us who disavowed his name was shoved into these pits. My friend, look at me, look at me. There's no glory in revenge. But I pull forward the card door and the axe, and I push them both towards him. And I say, but there is always glory in standing as a warrior. I have fought for you. I am fighting for you, but you must fight for you, grabs the door. As he pulls the ax in his hand and he looks at you. I am hollow, and I will fight for you. As he lifts his hand up, holds the axe up,
Starting point is 01:17:16 Charter! Chate door! For Jefferson City! As he lifts his hand up, you see as other people who are turned around and look at it, just kind of watches this man just sweeps the car door, making this dust just flip off to the side. He starts walking up from the front door and goes,
Starting point is 01:17:35 Chata! For Jefferson City! As he leads out through the front door, and what are you going to do? I say, brothers and sisters, you were slaves no more.
