To push them back, but we did.
What was once a prosperous river trade in Mississippi is now the front line.
The eastern states supply the river states, and what's left with the UA live out their meager day self-policing.
What is the West hiding?
Nobody really knows for sure.
But we're alive.
And this is the new frontier.
Hello everybody and welcome back to We're Live Frontier.
Unfortunately everyone's still alive.
Oh, don't say like that.
Okay.
No, but you're still alive.
And our adventure continues.
So when we last left everybody,
you had actually just left Archtown after doing some
humanitarian efforts as well as reconstructing
essentially the entire town in order to become
a new trading outpost for the Missouri River Rutter route.
I would like to clarify something actually
from last episode though.
We did purchase some medical supplies
in order to take care of young Tim.
And we pulled that from the rail driver,
so I'd actually like to see if you can get that
out of the small crate actually.
Since you had to purchase it from the rail driver.
And that did cost you about 30 survival points, by the way.
All right, Ray, I'll need your help.
We got a lot of supplies.
There's that.
Oh, wow, there's a full IV.
How on what they won.
All right.
All right, you need to, yeah.
You can take the IV bag.
And I'll just carry this.
Yeah, you can put it up on the, up on the crate.
Up on the shelf.
Oh, awesome in.
So us.
Because we can't really reuse the saline bag,
so let's hide it.
They don't know that.
You can reuse the liberty.
Wipe it off.
So I guess for the.
It's fine.
He's not infectious. He just has the flu.
A bad flu. Great. So you have some extra medical supplies now.
You've purchased them out. They're now part of your gear. That is in the rail driver,
but unless you want to carry it on you, if you should, if and when should you leave your stronghold.
Can we get that on a card? I can get that on a card.
Thank you. So our story is going to pick up early in the morning the next day. The night was long, but
variably uneventful.
The infected that our, Archtown is so used to kind of poking in
and around as parts of the night,
did keep you guys on edge a little bit
because you could clearly hear the scratching of various claws
and the poking around as if dogs seem to just be sniffing around
an interesting place.
But Archtown is so used to at this point
that they slept through it.
You five may have had a little tougher time getting through there.
but overall, extremely uneventful.
In the morning, pretty much provides you
with a couple of hours of extra work as you've managed to.
Jenny, how did you convert Archtown basically
into a through line at this point?
Well, we basically, Rath and I,
we moved a bunch of little makeshift homes
just out of the way.
We got them as close as we could to the walls.
Some of them we had to break down.
We also found some of those.
wood supports that had been integrated into the architecture and we put those back
under the rails yes because if the for one if we're driving the rail driver back
through we need those and actually that's a good point as well too you did have some spare
parts in the rail driver to provide extra beams and supports I think it would
actually be pretty realistic in order to say that you would probably need to pull some extra
supplies from the rail driver just to make sure that everything that is under the
rails is secure. It's not Warren Wood.
There's probably some support structures that couldn't be taken
from the building. So I hope you don't mind if I ask you to
spend some survival points from the rail driver in order to make this
happen. Well, you ask nicely, so.
Yes.
And I asked nicely, but there really wasn't any.
Choice.
That's our I, then.
It's starting.
Next time you come through he will get a discount.
Right.
So, we will.
So dramatic.
But we'll say that you picked up some of the extra spare wood
that you absolutely brought with you.
That was part of the requisition
that Asher commissioned for the rail driver
is a spare parts, spare track, spare wood,
just in case there was parts of the track
that needed to be taken care of like this.
So this is 100% of use for that.
So your morning begins with essentially the doors,
the new double doors that you have converted.
in order to make sure that the train can come in and through.
So fancy.
I hate those.
In one night.
Yeah, that ass.
Literally 18 hours.
Yeah.
So boom, engineer and girl.
Do we have a remote for it?
I'm just kidding, I'm kidding.
Where's the clicker?
In the future.
We'll get to the next one.
Shit.
But you can see that as you're about to,
as you push the rail driver through successfully,
through Argetown, and through the other way
on this tiny, tiny little stone,
that barely has any real real estate in this world,
but meant so much to these people who are in this area.
You kind of have a small farewell committee
that's kind of seeing you out, essentially,
as they watch you.
It's for us.
I made the deal.
All right.
But you can see Bear, Sarah, Tim,
and a lot of everybody else.
Tim's actually feeling well enough
that he could get out of bed this morning.
Oh, good job, kid.
Is cranky?
Cranky Old Lady there?
Cranky, oh, you want to look for her?
I'm kind of looking for her in the crowd.
Yeah, she's there.
Okay.
She's way in the back.
Okay.
She's kind of sitting there, and somehow she managed
to get the rocking chair outside.
She's still out there with the rocking chair.
Okay, so I make eye contact with her.
I go up there and I pull out my camping,
small camping solar panel charger, and I put that out,
and I plug my.
my iPod Nano.
That's why I love about this guy.
He's always thinking about what's important.
Have you been listening to it a lot?
These guys probably haven't seen it yet.
Yeah, okay.
I have an ancient relic of the old world.
I always thought he was just ignoring us.
You have headphones?
That's what the airs for.
Sometimes headphones.
You talk a lot.
Is it one of those elf ear ones?
Yes.
So keep it about.
Great.
Well, it's probably going to just take
single time for you to get enough of a charge to get into it.
I'm scrutinizing the map and radioing information back to
back to Yatley and back to the company.
Okay, great.
Missouri.
That's an excellent point.
So do you want to gather any information at this point or
you just want to report in?
I'm reporting Archtown.
Yeah.
And besides that, not much of note has occurred.
Yeah, fair enough.
So, all right, so you radio into Yacli, who is excited
that you have already established,
is small but reasonable trade station on this route already.
And they'll make sure that along the way
that someone goes, a representative comes in
to be able to provide them some extra support
since they have essentially,
you have essentially said that from there to Archtown
is at least secured.
All right?
And make sure to inform the athlete
that we've made the deal,
to allow them first pickings,
but to make that available inventory extremely slim
and bringing the initial packages through.
Sure. Okay, so.
I'm gonna spend some time with Lucky Jenny.
Yeah.
It has occurred to me that while we were trying
to get everything started and things like that,
that you're the only one that knows how to drive this thing?
So if you don't mind kind of sharing how this works,
not that I don't value you.
And I know that we can trust each other,
but you can just show me some of the basic ropes
in case you're needed out.
I can drive it on a basic level.
I built the thing.
Go talk to your radio.
I'm done, it was quick.
All right.
Yeah, just show me the ropes so I can help out.
Yes.
It's really not that hard.
Get out of here.
I can take him from right here.
So you actually spend quite a bit of time
traveling uneventfully.
I'd say it gets to be about midday, early midday,
before you start to see that you're coming into a township.
All right?
And on your map, you can tell that this is,
the city of Eureka that you're getting close to.
This part of the world is completely foreign.
It's so far outside of the kill zone,
and it's theoretically outside
of the greater metropolitan of St. Louis.
So while a lot of the residential community
of St. Louis held back some parts of nature,
it was just a speed bump that it had to basically move over.
A lot of this outer region is
and dense vegetation.
Would you possibly call it foresty?
Not quite foresty.
I mean, you basically left out whatever
could be a foresty terrain,
and you're actually now getting out
to pretty wide plainsland, you know?
In fact, when you first are kind of seeing the large topiary
that was part of what a lot of your drive has been up to this point.
Even Archtown, when you first got there,
had trees, just 10, 15 feet tall,
that were on either side of the rail.
And like I said, these young saplings
that tried to make an effort,
to come in, you're just whacking them down.
But now that tree line very abruptly ends,
and you start to see wide expanse of open field.
You know?
Here's the thing.
Plenty of cover here.
How are we looking on wood supply?
Oh, I was asking, yeah.
So at this point, I'm actually going to roll
how well you're doing on wood supplies at this stage,
because you've been burning it for most of this first leg
of the tray.
You have still enough wood.
What do you mean enough?
Yeah, what's enough?
You have enough wood to probably,
you've burnt a little more than half at this stage.
Okay. You know.
Well, just putting this out there,
but if we do want to stop to refuel,
since we are able to collect deadwood or chop trees
and dry them, since that's an option,
we may not want to stop in a town.
Well, let's do it.
Where we have tons of infected.
Okay, so this is now breaking.
Little warning with a good guy, thank you.
Yeah, so there's your depletion.
So we're gonna, we're gonna, wasn't wrong.
Wasn't wrong.
We're gonna run a small just supply gathering mission at this stage.
We're still outside of Eureka.
You're still outside of Eureka.
And we're outside of Arctown.
You're just, you're basically outside of Archtown.
I would imagine you stopped maybe just as you watch the tree line start to end.
And then after a few seconds of discussion pulled on the break,
so you only have about a small like five minute walk back
where the trees are.
The stuff on the edge of the line will probably be drier than in like a forest
type situation, so it would be more useful anyway.
Now you're saying we're in more plains-ish territory,
but there are some trees.
Sparse trees, yeah.
Like essentially what you imagine large, like willow types
that would hang out in the midst of the prairie lands.
But behind you, and you can see it on the map here a little bit,
there was a nice dense forest that you went through
before coming out to this wide open expanse right before Eureka.
Okay?
The beginning of your session, you're all gonna start
with two competency points again.
I believe you used all of yours up.
Did anyone use competency points last round?
None.
I had one left.
So one, two, four, four, six.
Did you use any?
I use none.
So you use six.
So that'll just give you an extra six survival points.
So I'll put another six in here for you.
You got 156.
Real quick, we did pull the X, but can we pull some sort of saw?
I've got my kookery, which is great for smaller, like,
once it's down.
And if we're sparser, yeah.
And all that can contribute to training value,
which is why has the same.
survival kit for six.
I also have a survival kit.
Great.
So we're looking at six and then Jenny,
what are you using?
I mean if somebody already has an axe,
like I have my machete if there's, you know,
with Ray, if there's stuff down.
So we'll have you do some,
you can use your slashing training value
in order to help gather.
I'm gonna use my spot listen to pick out
like the driest wood or the trees that we could cut down.
You could also, if you don't mind me,
helping you a little bit.
You could also stand guard.
Oh yeah, I guess I could do that too.
Yeah, yeah, I'll keep guard but also like keeping your
stuff.
I'll use my binoculars too.
You use your binoculars.
Okay, so I go up in the crow's nest.
So sounds like both Ray and Jenny are going to be cutting
as much foliage as they can while Rayth in particular is
making sure that he picks out the best wood
that can be done with us using his survival skills as well as.
And I'm using search to find a
just fall in.
Fallen stuff.
And I think I probably do like a walk,
a sort of brief, you know, like five minute walk,
you know, a certain distance out from the rail driver.
Right. Just to make sure that we're not like near,
like a hive or any stuff like that.
Okay. I'm looking for any signs of infected or any of that kind of thing.
So here's kind of what's going on just for what I'm seeing around here.
Is that again the successes and failures in this is based on just kind of how much time it takes to do all this.
So barring any major
The trimming and cutting of the wood
and carrying it back is not a problem.
You find enough dry wood to be able to do this
in a reasonable amount of time.
It only takes an hour and a half, really,
to just load this thing back up,
because you guys are extremely efficient.
And being able to cut up wood, drag it back to the rail driver,
and put it in fact, if anything,
I would say this kind of meaningless labor
is actually a little bit of a calming respite
with everything that's been happening.
so far.
So.
I truly enjoyed my walk.
This was nice, guys.
We needed this.
So that's, I mean, as far as I'm concerned, we're full.
Is there, if any of you would like to discuss or banter or anything,
this is a good time for you to be going through the woods.
Otherwise, your rail driver is officially filled back up again.
I have a quick question.
From where we're at with the rail driver, with my binoculars,
would I be able to see at least the outskirts of Eureka?
Yeah.
No, it's true.
Can I spend a little bit of time also looking there
and trying to get surveyed?
You can spend all the time.
Okay.
Do it.
So, Band-Aid, peering through the binoculars,
the magnifying focus on these glass lenses isn't like amazing.
But it is not that you can definitely go and look into the city
and it's extremely quiet.
It looks abandoned, honestly.
It looks like there may have been a community there at one point,
but it is.
Does it look overgrown?
overgrown or burnt?
It looks overgrown, doesn't look burnt.
It just looks abandoned.
It's what's important.
And it really, it's a ghost town.
Okay.
So, good to know.
You can also see that the train does make some very unique turns.
That is the one thing that I will say is that it's Eureka,
even though it's going through flat land,
whoever laid this track down originally,
it looked like they actually had to make
some pretty interesting side winding
to go around the city.
Various elements of it.
So it's not a straight rail through.
Got it.
I'd like to walk up to Jenny over here, chopping wood.
Mm-hmm.
Because we have Band-Did right now up in the box, yeah?
Okay.
I get Rafe.
It's weird, but I get Rafe.
I get Ray.
What's Band-Aid's deal?
I'm getting this attitude.
This profound, I get it.
I'm the newbie.
You guys, you're all, we've been working together,
And that's great, but is it me?
Like what is going on?
What is his problem?
Look, we've all seen some shit.
And you haven't.
And so it's hard to, I know, it's hard to relate to you.
And we think it's hard for you to relate to us.
No, I can't speak for a Band-Aid.
If you wanna know something,
then you're gonna have to ask him.
I'm going to need
earned or not them to respect me too, even only for the sake of this mission.
So these are your guys, this is your team, and I'll do what I can, but I need some backup in here.
I can't have the entire group just finding any way to get under my skin.
It's not gonna work.
So listen, I'm just gonna cut to the chase here because Jenny doesn't know us as well,
and certainly doesn't know Band-Aid as well as I do, but doesn't know the rest of us that well.
It's not our respect you need, it's our trust.
Now you built up a lot of it back there with what you did in Archtown.
That was good.
We didn't think, but that right there, that, that smug little bastard moment,
that right there is going to keep us from respecting you.
I'm assuming you're all gathering wood while this conversation's going down.
You are cresting over a hill as kind of Asher is beginning this next,
kind of defensive tactic to talk about what he's going on
with his ability.
And as you crest over, you actually look down to see white.
A pile of bones that seems to be five feet, six feet, high.
And it's laid out almost as if a field of bodies,
maybe decades ago, was laid out there.
But all it is now is just some kind of make sure
the gift graveyard of bodies that have laid out
either before or the war, maybe this was an old hive
in which the bodies were collected beforehand.
But the thing that stops you, Asher,
is you kick a skull as it tumbles down the hillside
and cracks along the side of this sea of bones.
How far out we talking here?
Like, what's the scope of this?
We're talking 150 feet by maybe 100 feet.
Oh, just like a five foot deep pile of bones.
Three.
Oh, well, no, it was laid out.
I mean, there may have been small, aggressive bones in some point, but you found 100% a mass graveyard of probably thousands of people.
All very old looking.
I want to walk right up to it.
I'm super interested.
Yeah.
It's very clear that it is a mass graveyard that maybe at one point, well, who knows why thousands of bodies were deposited here.
But they're here and they are old.
We've got wood.
I think we're good.
I'm down to head back to the rail driver and we can pick this all up inside.
That's cool with everybody.
And let's do it quietly.
Hey y'all, it's Kelly Clarkson with Wayfair.
Ever order furniture online and wonder what if?
Like, what if it doesn't hold up?
That sofa was four days old.
You should have ordered from Wayfair.
With Wayfair, there's no what if.
Just style you love and quality you can trust.
Visit Wayfair.ca.
Wayfair, every style, every home.
Can I take a look at it?
Absolutely.
You say that it's obvious that it was,
does it look like it was put together,
that the bodies were put here by the living,
or by, you know, humans?
So hard to tell at this point,
because the bones are everywhere, you know?
They're scattered in a way.
You could probably see that there are parts
of quasi-complete skeletons,
but just because there's so many bodies there.
Yeah.
You could check the bones for things like bite marks, damage,
puncture wounds.
I mean, I have my own background about, like,
displaying the bodies of infected or recovering the bodies of the dead.
Yeah.
So like, it's kind of my area.
I'm looking for anything ritualistic or sort of sociological versus biological.
Why don't you tell me, Raythe?
Okay.
Looking at this pile of bones, what do you see?
This sea of bones.
Okay, I turn back to these people and I go,
these were placed here by other men.
other men, not the infected.
It's organized, ritualistic, as if they were brought here
and disposed of en masse.
Some of them may be infected before they turned,
but this was done with urgency.
Wonderful, that's great.
What are we just talking about?
No, I want to fucking leave.
I like to spend my degrees of success.
We get back on the rail driver,
we collected, so.
All of it, yeah.
And we collected some awesome wood
that just like burns extra long.
You know what I'm saying?
The best wood.
Yeah, we've got good wood.
We filled it up.
Yeah.
We filled it up.
Done.
Well done.
Beautiful. We've got them all out.
So yes, beyond this massive grave
that you exposed upon, you've definitely collected enough wood.
The rail driver doesn't have a huge storage bin.
So again.
Not with that out of it, dude.
But we got this extra long wood.
We can put someone like, we're small.
We're small.
The two of us together are like one person.
You're shoving some inside of the actual sleeping cord is itself?
Yeah, yeah, wow.
We have a couple bundles.
That'll probably get you another 50 miles or so.
But now at this point you're looking at midday.
All right.
Okay.
So, but the rail drivers loaded up, you can, with expediency,
drive through Eureka without worrying about getting
read of any. Wonderful.
Jenny, how far, how fast are we going?
We're going about 25.
25, great.
Okay, so as you're continuing to pick up speed,
move the rail driver through,
you start to see as the small bits of the last refuge
of this topiary, this tall forest,
that spoke to you of calming, peaceful,
woodland life, minus the bones,
is now open to a wide open plainsland
with this small ghost town that is essentially
sitting on the outskirts.
And the first thing that you all feel,
and you kind of mentioned it earlier,
is just immediately exposed.
It's like you can pretty much see
several miles in every direction
without a lot of breaking the hills,
not barely even arise at the same time.
It's very clear that a lot of the grass in which there is parts
of grass still around has dried out
and it is still standing pretty tall, not as high as the waste stuff
that you're experiencing with the overgrowth
and ferns by Archtown, but this is like true long grass.
Eureka comes upon you through the right.
And well, are you all taking in this landscape
or like what's, where are you on?
I actually...
Up top with my sights.
Up top with the pillowbox.
Oh, that's going to join her up in the box.
Really, that area has enough for two, so that's it.
Okay.
So I'll set this point, right?
I don't need to be up there then.
In fact, really, only one can shoot at it, but two can look through there, but if anyone wants to do anything other than look.
Yeah, I'm there to observe for a specific reason.
Okay.
All right, so you're watching up in the pillbox and you three are just down in the sleeper car?
Can we, can I hear some of your music?
It's just been a long time.
Can we like share your...
share your phones?
If it's too personal, I understand.
You didn't like it last time I tried to share it with me.
Yeah, but it's been a while, and so I feel like my
tastes of refining, I understand you more, and this will help.
Okay.
What do I hear when I, just the left one or whatever?
Yeah, it's, I mean, it's like, it's really screechy,
like Norwegian black metal, like growly stuff.
But then sometimes it stops and opens up,
and it's got like weird sort of folk instruments and things like that.
Yeah.
Yeah, and then there's like weird sort of choir
sort of things in the back.
It sounds like just, it sounds super like apocalyptic.
Hmm. Yeah.
It's a good term for it.
Yeah.
Stingray and Asher, as you're looking out to Eureka,
you suddenly start to see small bits of movement
coming out from part of the town.
You can actually see a couple of bodies moving out.
I'd like to call down to Jenny.
What speed are we at?
25.
All right, we have movement out in the town.
Right.
And as you continue to observe,
you actually watch as more bodies start spilling out
through parts of the town.
Spilling sounds infected.
How are they moving?
At first you can kind of see that they're just kind of like
stepping out like they're like if someone heard a gunshot
and they walked out to kind of see what the noise is all about.
But after a beat or two of that you can start them just see
crouch and run as fast as they can.
And you can start to see these little ants of people just
starting to pour out from different parts of the town
as slowly a wave of running, fully prepared,
just jumping.
Some of them even just doing small,
kind of like a rabbit as if it's with skipping
down parts of the prairie as they just start
barreling straight towards the rail driver
with full more speed.
Max speed is 35.
35.
35.
With coal 55.
I don't know if we want to go that fast.
And what's the safest?
We don't want we're alive frontier Eureure Eureka drift here.
It's like.
Yeah.
What about, uh.
Multi-track drifting.
The last thing you want is to go off the tracks.
Yeah, or 45.
Absolutely.
I was just about to say, I immediately switch to coal.
And I start like pushing that.
Shovel faster.
I'm trying.
I can't tell if it's the music or something.
Band-aid, pull it out.
Help me shovel coal!
Okay.
We have a wave incoming.
And you will see it is indeed a wave.
And actually parts of the, uh,
white tall grass is now contrasted from these black shapes
that now seem to be pushing through
as you can conjure this image of just predators
who are just like a pack of wolves just running
with foolboard.
Can I run down and get her gun?
Her in K-47?
Absolutely.
All right.
Here you go.
Thanks.
And you can see that some of them,
as you're the ones that first started to see you,
are now making a hard bend as they are basically
trying to now cut off the rail driver as they see that they're now ahead and they're
basically running alongside trying to try and you later.
Only one person can shoot out of this thing at a time.
Yes.
Okay.
Unless you want to open the side door.
No.
No.
No.
Okay.
Shelling Cole.
We're going to need to barrel through this.
All right.
So you're now basically ramping this thing up with coal.
And I'm checking the safety valves.
Everything's looking good.
Yeah, everything's looking fine.
I'm going to need a drive check from Jenny for the rail drive.
for the rail driver.
So you can watch as these creatures just starting.
You can start to hear them a little bit now
and they have this weird, very unique call
that kind of comes about to them.
Since I'm there kind of taking care of the fuel components,
can I assist so she doesn't have as much to worry about,
can focus?
Absolutely.
Do we have anything in the rail driver,
grenade-wise, anything that we can throw?
To purchase some, I don't think you requisitioned
anything like that originally.
I'm not seeing grenades here.
That was not musician.
I've got to smoke something, but that's all I got.
I have a flash bang that's not gonna work against infected.
All right, no worries.
We gotta train this all.
At this point, I see that the crow's nest
has got these two in them, right?
And they're getting ready to shoot.
There's not a lot of room.
Driving fuel.
Driving fuel.
There's nothing we can do.
Make sure things are secure.
I take my extra earbud thing that you gave me
and I put it in and I crank up the volume
and I pull out my sword and I start sharpening it.
Why not?
And I start strapping shit down.
Why not?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right, great.
That's right, we do have a little in there.
So the people who are rolling drives and shooting, Band-Aid.
Can I roll against my composure?
So Band-Aid, what I will tell you
is that if you do want to help Jenny
by maintaining the speed on this thing,
I will absolutely allow you to spend the competency point
if you'd like in order to negate one of her degrees of failure.
Okay, so I'll wait because she's gonna succeed.
Moral support.
Yeah, she's got this.
You go!
All right, let's drive the rail driver.
As these creatures are starting to slowly
and you can see that at first,
They weren't making a whole lot of speed,
but now you can watch as some of them,
at first just running as like a track and field runner
to their best ability, you can watch
as some of them actually are starting to get down
on all fours and they're now starting to run
as they start to literally barrel across.
No.
Oh shit, is that a failure?
That's 100.
What is that?
I think that's 100.
No!
No! No!
I'm so sorry.
No!
We're going off road, guys.
Don't give them any ideas.
Okay.
Spend those competence.
Can we do that?
Can that happen?
It was 32.
All right.
Well, she has two competency.
Yeah, they both have two.
They can both chip in there.
So we'll just take one.
If you're gonna burn all three, then just give me two back.
We have, we have four.
They have four.
So we just have two.
Oh, okay.
Wow.
Well, can any of us contribute a competency point of that or just people involved?
No, just band-aid made a specific.
You're fine.
This is fine, guys.
It's okay, girl, don't worry.
Okay.
Jenny, if you don't want me saying, you barely,
you're checking your valves, you're looking at everything.
You're making sure everything's fine.
You almost missed the one most important valve,
which is the steam pressure.
And you can see as it's shaking itself along the red line
before you finally pull the exhaust out on it
and you watch as the spout just as white gas and black smoke
just pour out through the top of the rail driver,
as you just hear it as it's basically breathing
a giant sigh of relief as you almost let this thing just
You pulled the throttle out always,
but it got too hot and you had to release all that steam.
Are we doing in there?
Oh!
No!
We're hanging in there!
Great!
We're hanging in there.
Alright.
I like the instruction manual out, like...
It's falling apart!
You got a nice steam!
A goddamn binder!
You can watch as these creatures are continuing.
You can see that some of them are starting to run alongside of the rail driver.
They almost sound like demented rabbits.
All right, so let me play with his gun.
Spend.
I am going to just start spraying, and I'm going to start spraying
closer to, obviously closer to us, so that I can create kind of a kill zone that they have to climb over.
Right.
And just send out a swath of bullets.
All right, take out targets.
So roll as many damage dice as you need for that AK-47.
And that's for how many of them I take here.
How many targets?
Well, the targets are negligible at this point because they're everywhere.
And they're running so fast.
At this point, you feel like you can use them.
even if you get a hit on them, they're gonna tumble.
Yeah.
You know?
Sounds.
Tounds.
Tums, down the legs.
Exploding.
Thank God.
Five, six, 12, 13, and exploding.
Give me any ones.
Give me any ones.
Do they have defense?
Just negate the ones, please.
Okay, so we've got 9 to 11 and 5, 16 and 18.
Okay.
So you can see as you watch four of them,
It's just you basically just unload a clip,
and basically part of a clip, not a full clip,
sorry, but you use the gun and you watch a couple of sprays,
just four of them just kind of just start tumbling
as they rolled back down.
And one of them looks like it just got,
just knocked back from the force of the bullet
and just kind of walking down,
but you watch as more of them just continue
to kind of like take their place as they continue to ride up.
Can I just keep going?
I got 40s.
You spent all four.
You spent them all.
Like I said, I spent all four.
40, so I can't keep going.
But now that's one depletion.
Roll, did you-
Jenny, you've shot that thing at the Raiders
a couple times in the row, so I think that's
at three depletion points.
Yeah, it is.
All right, so please roll three depletion for me.
What is the Mac?
30. 30?
Oh, oh, cool.
That's one again.
Oh, rolling in.
Okay, you're no-or, you're using bullets well.
All right?
It was four.
So, but next time you use it,
you'll have to roll four dice.
You made it, you're good.
Okay, next time you use it,
you will have to use four dice.
Okay, cool.
Great.
So, Jenny, you're basically pulling this thing.
And as you can feel, this smoke below up,
you've got a little bit of the,
you've got your max speed.
You can kind of see a lot of them are starting
to slowly kind of pass behind you
as you're maintaining a much quicker speed
than even they can do at the moment.
But more importantly, you're kind of feeling
just the weight move a little bit
as it's starting to go into these sidewinder curves
a little bit.
And you can see some more,
more,
Horatious looking ones up ahead.
So at this speed, you can start to feel the weight,
adjust and shift.
But you've got clear warning now that they're not gonna get easier.
All right, I'm gonna slow down a little bit.
Right.
Because the last thing I want is for this to tip.
Right, so we're pulling it back.
I pull it back.
All right.
Two people can shoot from up there, but,
I mean, one person can shoot from up there,
but two people, can anyone stand up there
with any other kind of things?
Anything?
Unless, two folks can fit up there, but not shoot.
They get the pistol out.
One person can shoot, unless you wanna open the side doors
and start firing out.
Hang on, so how does that look?
Is there any way someone could climb out
and like hook themselves up and just be like,
do something awesome?
Just like a motor home.
Incredibly risky.
Oh, sure, sure.
Just like a motorhome, it does have like a top hatch
that can be opened.
But it's been locked from the inside
because the pill box is supposed to be guarding
the top.
We're not there yet.
We don't need to do that.
We're not there yet.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Good to know though.
Now, there are no other openings or anything.
What opens are the openings are there on the ground level?
It's locked down.
The only part that would definitely be a potential issue is the back of the armored car is theoretically open so that you can move from the sleeper car to the armored car.
Just like you would a rail, like a standard train car.
Do we have a way to lock that part down?
Yeah, absolutely.
You built this thing to be secured.
Perfect.
that. You're just going to lock both of them. So locking Jenny inside of the conductor's booth.
And Ben. And Band-Aid. Yeah. So we're locked in?
And then, okay. We're locked in the cab. You're locked in the cab. I mean, I'd rather
nothing can get into either compartment until this is done. So Band-Aid and Jenny, you watch his
Asher just like reaches over and shuts your door and then shuts his own door and pulls the bar down.
So right now, me, Ray and Rayth are locked in the back compartment.
Yes, and they're in the front.
Jenny and Band-aid locked in the actual engine apartment.
Yes.
Copy.
That's where it's at.
What happened, Jenny?
Where are you yelling to him?
How fast do you think they're going?
Well, it seems like we're losing them, and what are we at now?
We're at 40.
Yeah.
We're at 40.
I'm gonna pull us back to 35.
You tell me if they start to gain on us at any point.
All right, I'll keep an eye out for that.
I think that'll be a safe bet.
Okay.
And can we not rock it anymore?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I'm working on that.
All right, so here's the deal.
I would like to formally put the intent down
on the whiteboard at this stage,
so whose wants to take point on this mission?
I think either could be Jenny.
I would like you to write down everybody's intent.
And this was taking care of with the almost explosion.
Well, yeah, but that last one is to tell you
how much you're rocking at this stage.
This last one?
Yeah, you can put that one away
because I told you just kind of,
it's starting to rock a little bit,
at 40 miles an hour.
So, Jenny, what are you laying?
And then get everybody else intent on here as well too.
Okay.
Band-a- As you're looking through the side of this door,
you can actually see as some of the creatures,
as she's starting to slow down,
they are starting to lose,
but you actually do hear at one point a large son
as the top of the rail driver essentially had something
just, right on top of it, on the sleeper cart.
On the sleeper cart.
You can feel it wog, so you three absolutely can just
as something just lands.
And I can see it from where I am, no?
Well, yes, because you're up the top of the toolbox.
You can actually see as a pair of hands just
grasp a hold of the top of the rail drivers.
It starts to see its claws just peeling.
It's a hanging over the edge.
It's hanging over the edge at this stage.
So Jenny, you declare your intent.
I'm slowing down a little bit.
Yeah.
Band-Aids keeping watch.
Ray.
You're gonna focus down that new big guy, right?
I am just a little nervous of shooting
through the rail driver.
It's metal.
It's fine.
Okay, then yeah.
I'm gonna shoot at him.
All right.
That'll be my, and depending on how well back,
shooting?
Yeah.
Do we have any flammable stuff, like,
any sort of gasoline, alcohol?
Exactly.
We have moonshine.
We have moonshine.
We have flammable, yes?
If you recall, yes, we requisition to that.
Okay.
We have a bar.
All right.
So I want to see if-
Are you purchasing moonshine?
I want to try to, we did put moonshine in there.
We did a lot of it.
Way too much.
We need to clear the outside.
I have the rail driver of infected.
Mm-hmm. Okay.
A fire bomb might be a quick way to do that.
I'm in a Molotov kind of mood.
You want to make some fire bombs with me?
Let's do it.
Making a fire bomb.
All right.
Both of you are making bombs.
Oh my God, you guys have done.
Oh, my God.
So as you see, these hands are just scraping
along the top of the rail driver.
You can start to hear as bodies are pulling themselves up.
Ben is running!
As you have, right you attention,
and let me shoot this fucker.
Get the moonshine.
You had, you have,
Ray has to knock it off at this point.
You can do that palm on mind.
There's a B, there's a B, there's a B, there's a B.
Focus.
Oh no.
Everybody's cried.
Composure out the window.
No, God, goodness.
How much would you like to purchase of the moonshine?
How much?
Oh, what do we need?
Like a liter, two liters?
Yeah, a liter each.
A liter each.
All right, a liter each.
Roll two depletion for it, please.
A liter of cola.
One each.
One each. Go for it.
Let's do it.
All right.
Oh my god, no.
Exploding.
Boos.
Yeah.
That's okay.
That's okay.
10.
Okay, that's fine.
You're okay.
You did spend, in the Moonshine,
you did spend 10 for that.
For both.
That's not so bad.
Not bad at all.
Okay.
Glad I brought so much moonshine.
That was right.
You okay?
I'm fine.
I'm fine.
No real speed in order to have you slow down.
And then Band-Aid, who is still keeping watch at this point
and looking to maintain it, I will actually have you make a spot
listen to see how subtle you can do this at this stage.
And then you two were doing craft.
Theoretically, you would have to make a construction check
for Simple Gear, but it's freaking Maltovs.
It's pouring and- Yes.
So I'm not going to require a check to make a Maltav, all right?
It just depends on how much you would theoretically waste
to get into it, which I'll determine on my own.
Oh, great.
And then Asher, you're making a bomb as well.
Okay, great.
So let's just have our shooter and our spotter.
Roll it up at this stage.
So we know what we have to work with.
Ooh.
Is he rolling eight, dude?
I did, I did.
Wow.
Oh, my God.
One degree of failure, because I have 79.
76.
Give me five.
Five.
Successes?
Oh, you demand.
Like I said, it's two degrees of failure.
Two degrees of failure.
Got it.
sitting up with this crow's nest for like the entire journey.
For the entire day at this point.
Yeah, so I'm gonna get rid of these two
with my- Okay, so you're just leading into it.
Yeah. I'm still gonna have to have you roll depletion, please.
Of course.
Four, four dice.
So let's just check that real quick.
Normally we do it at the end, but let's just check it now.
Because I'm curious.
Six and nine, 15.
15, all right, you're not out.
Awesome.
So you're basically, you fired into it,
and you basically tried to fire into the creature
that was sitting on top of trying to pull itself up.
But the rail driver was designed to be bulletproof.
So you're watching it just like,
you're just watching a spray of your bullets
or basically just trap was coming off.
Yeah, and it's not letting go at all at this stage.
So, band-aid.
Papa's got good eyes.
Yes.
So for two, I will tell you something important.
Yeah, buddy.
And then if you want, we can just,
since you have an abundance,
this point. I can... I would like to spend some to gather information. You said that there are some that are rather voracious.
Yes. I want to cross-check that with the database in my head of like what am I looking at here? Like kind of assess...
You are seeing something unique for sure. So I haven't seen this before. The fact that they're running on all fours, like the way they're and they're kind of pack-like. And it's weird to kind of see them move. Like they're not just running in a way that's like haphazard. Like they're
trying to get over each other,
they're doing coordinated movements like this.
And it's pretty terrifying.
And for the two that I'm having you spend,
I'd like to point out to you that you're coming across
an incline where the canyon slowly coming up in front of you.
So, but there is also, you can see a small bridge
in which there is like a road.
We went through Eureka and they're coming up.
You're coming through Eureka.
If I may paint this portrait in your head,
but you can watch as you're basically moving along,
imagine Eureka's to your right, all right?
As you're moving the rail,
a rail driver along the township and the people are coming out.
All of the infected are running across.
And you're moving forward and they're trying to catch up with you.
And there is a whole kind of canyon that the rail driver is cutting through at the moment into the bottom.
So if they catch up with it.
And they're coming along the side and they're hopping on the back and you're firing from the back of your pillbox at the moment.
So unless they catch up, I won't see behind me.
Exactly.
Okay.
So I'm going to be relaying a lot of this to Jenny.
Yeah.
that I'm seeing, including the upcoming canyon
that we're gonna be going through.
Is it only this new type that has been following us?
Yes.
These pack creatures.
Okay, I don't see the other types of infected.
Okay.
If they would, they'd be running,
they wouldn't be running on all fours like these ones are.
Right, but I wasn't sure if they were mingled.
Yeah.
And so can I use this to assess kind of their max speed
since we've been kind of following?
Yeah, absolutely.
So I'll allow you to get that.
So you can tell.
At even 35 miles an hour, you are slowly, but still steadily losing them.
But their endurance seems...
Are you one of those media strategy people clicking through slides, scrolling spreadsheets?
Yes? Good. This is for you.
Because on Spotify, there's an audience that's different.
Locked in. Loyal, invested.
They're called fans.
Fans don't just listen to music.
They feel seen by it like it belongs to them.
So when your brand shows up on Spotify, that's who you're talking to.
And you're right next to artists like me, Lizzo.
So, are you ready to talk to fans?
Spotify Advertising. You're among fans.
Well, unhuman.
Yeah.
But while they don't seem to be slowing down because they're getting tired,
they do seem to be slowing down because you are going just a little too fast for them.
But you can also see at this stage the ones that are running alongside of you,
you can start to see that other ones have triangulated
and have basically cut across from their parts
so that they are actually running ahead of you.
They're coming from somewhere else.
Coming from more parts of Eureka,
you can actually see ones that are cutting
a triangulating position running in front of you.
They're not running towards you,
they're running in front of you,
knowing kind of where you're going to land
by the time they did.
Well, we did design the train kind of with that in mind.
Yeah, it has kind of like a snowplow sort of thing.
on the front of it, right?
It has a cattle guard.
I'm just gonna call down to the guys
and be like, guys, we need something bigger.
This isn't working.
And then for the last bits,
I just wanna see how far I can see ahead with the canyon.
Does it look like it's kind of a straight shot
or does it look like there's a curve coming up?
Or any sort of turns?
It's hard to tell.
You can see that the tracks in front of you.
You can see the canyon, because you are definitely,
at this point, I'm imagining Band-Aid sticking his head
out of the front of the car
where he can get out a little bit through the window
and the wind is just rushing into his face.
goggles on as the wind is just blowing right through me
as he's looking up through the canyon.
And you can see the track for sure.
And it's kind of hard to tell where it goes after that.
But it doesn't seem to be a straight shot.
No.
It's definitely at some point there's going to be turns.
Okay. All right.
All right, so I'm relaying all this information.
And I think we're at a good speed right now.
We're ahead of their movement.
But it seems like they're going to be coming in from the top.
We had people that are infected that were in front of us
and they're running up to set something up.
They're working in a pack mentality.
You know, this is, it's very strange,
but it seems like somebody, someone is in charge.
So yeah, that's what we got.
Also there's a turn coming up.
Okay, so, brace for impact.
Look, look, look, here's the thing.
If they start coming in here,
you need to hold onto this throttle
and maintain our speed and then I can try
and take care of the infected because.
Okay, and you're armed?
Yes, I have a bit of this.
machete and I got my pistol with me.
Here, why don't you take my pistol and use both of them?
Okay.
And then I'll keep an eye out for this.
So you're gonna be making drive checks now
for the rail driver.
Well, not yet.
Yes.
Not yet if they come in.
Just if they...
Got it.
All right.
Still gonna be spot-spotting.
Cool, all right, then good to know.
As the rail driver continues barreling down the side of Eureka,
you continue to see as infected are just pouring out
in the pack that's running alongside of you.
is maintaining and looking, and you can see through there
that at least a couple of them are looking up and down,
trying to find the best way to get into it.
Knowing that they've seen a couple of bullets come down,
you can see a couple of them are veering
to be able to try to catch up, but only really another one
is able to make the dramatic leap in order to kind of clang
onto the back of the rail driver again,
is a couple of other ones attempted to do so,
but just tumbled as they miss their mark ever so lightly.
But you can see as there's one at least,
because you can feel the weight of the sleeper car
kind of pull down a little bit as the other one
crawls up to the top, and now it basically peers
its head up on the side about five feet away
from your pillbox at this point.
Show that!
So it's right there, right?
How are we doing on the Molotovs?
You're done.
So we got them.
You can grab them from the top box.
Oh, let's do it.
Get it, son.
It's lute time.
Oh no.
Is it real good?
Guys, it's time to party!
Day class, right.
As you guys are moving through Eureka,
you can start to see that you're getting close to the canyon,
and these creatures are coming down.
You watch us, one of them obviously climbs up,
at the top of the pillbox.
You can feel another one starting to wait down the sleeper car a bit
as you're starting to get close as you enter into the canyon.
So, next intense.
I'm gonna shoot at the dude.
Shoot the dude.
Dude, in the face.
So you're maintaining speed at this point,
keep it a lookout, all right?
Sweating a lot.
I say we wait a moment.
Wait a moment.
Fine.
So hold, let's just have Ray do her shooting
since that seems to be the one thing
that needs to be resolved right now.
Go for it.
Come on, asshole.
Woo!
Yes.
Oh boy.
AK-47.
So on there, it has two damage,
but before she rolled a bunch, like.
She had a bunch of extra-resures successes.
But I just did have a bunch of degrees of success.
I just had five degrees of success.
So if you like to just burn them all
into damage at this point,
you can roll seven dice against this thing.
How many damage do these guys need to take before they get you?
Well, you didn't hit it at all previously.
You just hit the group.
Like I said, I just want to kill him.
You were firing into the group,
but now you're firing it just one specifically
that's up the top there, he just piqued his head
right up on the head.
And he just pissed me off.
Just ought to do it.
There are no other options.
Don't curse me.
Don't curse me.
No, one guy.
Exploding a five.
A second of five, ten, fourteen, nineteen.
Twenty-six.
Explain to me its grisly demise.
I see him pop his head up and I go, ah!
And I shoot him in the face.
And you watch as basically it just right there
as it just scrapes a hand down and you can actually watch
as it carves a large rake into the side of the rail car
as it falls down.
It's humble us down.
God.
You know.
Yeah, it does not have any human, hardly.
In fact, as you looked at its wide milky eyes,
you can actually see that it's the eye sockets
that were holding onto its eyes are about 50% bigger
than what you originally would imagine a human to have,
as almost as like its eyes were larger
than what you and I would look like.
It's down, it's rolling.
You can hear it, you can hear its fall as it's coming across.
At this point, you watch as the rail driver
continues to pull through the canyon,
and you can start to hear,
as more bodies can even slam down,
as you watch pulling your head across.
You can see several of them are just making a leap
onto the top of the rail driver at this stage.
The wind pursing against them,
and some of them stumbling and literally falling off
the rail driver because the wind is just too much for them.
But a lot of them just barreling down,
pulling their nails and their feet, their clawed feet,
into the actual steel of the sleeper car.
As you can hear it, as the metal's being pulled across it,
you at least have another four that hopped on top of there at this stage.
Did we hear any hop on ours on the driver's?
Yeah. Okay.
You're still maintaining a speed of 35, or 40, sorry.
40. You know?
Which is safe with this feel source.
I'm worried about the curve. Yeah.
All right.
There's a curve coming up, right?
Per banding.
Then yes, let's break for that curve, remember?
Yeah, we don't wanna.
You wanna do a little bit of break
and then accelerate into the curve.
There you go.
Use your turn signal.
If they're all right off of the driver,
when we go around a turn, they'll be top heavy.
They could pull us over.
But we've got the kit.
You're not here.
Not enough to, yeah.
Jenny, slow down, speed up.
I mean, for this turn, we're gonna just a little bit.
I just cannot risk tipping this thing.
So going down the 30.
Or 35.
35.
35.
All right.
Actually, you were originally at 35,
and so I looked at my notes here.
I apologize.
Oh, well, I'm gonna maintain 35.
Maintain 35, great.
Maybe 30.
So Jenny's there?
32, 32.
32.
This is not a.
It's a little specific, but we'll go with it.
All right, great.
It's digital.
Ray, there is more on top.
Do you want to continue to try to unload your AK up on there?
So, Rayth and Band-aid,
who I'm assuming is still just making the fire,
at this point?
Make the firework.
Making the fire.
So at this point, we don't need coal,
so I'm gonna start switching over to wood.
Great. And stop using, how are we looking
on coal depletion?
You burnt about a third of it.
Dair, darn.
Quick technical question about the AK.
I don't know how close I am to being out.
Or do I know how close I am?
Not really no.
Okay, so I won't know till I'm out.
I mean, you know how much you've been using it
so you could make a reasonable gas base and depletion.
Right, right.
So I'm prepared that I'm probably gonna have to
You're getting close.
Maybe you had a high roll last time, so you still are pretty safe.
What would they die being at?
Rayth and Asher.
Okay.
You've got it.
We've got Molotov, but we have no way to fucking use them.
Unless you open that thing and now they're on.
Which there's like five up there right now.
And now they're all over us.
Yes.
I mean, I think it's a good time.
To open the hatch while they're all on the car?
We only need to open it that much.
You roll out one Molotov.
And then they get their little grubby fingers in there.
I'm gonna slam it right back down.
Jesus.
Race opening the hatch.
Do I do.
something fast. I'm just gonna crack it open slightly. Yeah, I got it, got it, got it, got it.
I got it. I got it. I got stuck back here with Ray. I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna
lighten one of his Molotovs first. You wanted to do this. I can't believe I
wish we had band-in right now. Will you stop talking and do something? Ray. I am gonna open the door,
throw it out and slam it. All right. Let's get in there. So, uh, uh, uh, shooting. I don't
need a, I don't need a check for you to open that thing. And, and, and, and, you know,
and throw it out, that's all right.
To clarify, is this the upper hatch or the back
upper hatch?
Just like, wrap it up.
Go team.
Drive check, throw a check.
Yay!
That was rolled over, that was terrible.
Oh shit.
I got five degrees of success.
Five degrees of success.
I'm ready, did you see that?
I saw that.
It was like on three and then it rolled over to seven.
Rae, as you, how many degrees of success, failure did you get?
I had four degrees of failure.
Four degrees of failure.
Competency.
But I am gonna spend some confidence.
competency points to cancel out some of that.
Two?
Or one has more.
Geez, you know, I think I actually wanna,
I wanna spend three.
So what was gonna happen, Raith,
you're gonna roll this thing up.
You're gonna roll the Moltaub out.
Unfortunately, as it rolls, the creatures
kind of see the fire and just dart out of the way
as it tumbles off the rail driver
and explodes into a fireball behind you
as the rail drive continues to move forward.
So it just kind of splash
into nothing on the side of the rails.
As you see, one of the creatures, the one that was on top
that wasn't shot off by Ray, but the one that's on the bottom,
you can actually start to hear the tearing of metal.
Excuse me.
And Asher, right behind you, you can hear as
as you look behind him, you can actually see,
like a sardine can, the slow parts of the metal,
slowly being reeled up behind the railed.
driver as an arm reaches out and grabs the back of your leg
and pulls you down.
Oh no.
All right, so, and this round, you're in grapple.
You have your defensive weapon.
So, Raith, you do hear this, as you look down and see
as light pours in from the sleeper car, from the midday noon sun.
And you look up and see some of these creatures,
but this, you manage to, after slowing,
you manage to slam the door and lock it without any issue.
I'm gonna pull up my weapons and just try to attack.
Help?
Yes.
Yes.
Great. Jenny, how did you do?
We're doing well. It's not shaking.
It's not shaking.
It's not shaking.
We're gonna make it through that curse.
Yeah. No, you feel it. You've got a steady, slow moving rhythm at this point.
Let's accelerate.
We're going to accelerate.
Oh, my God.
Back up to 35.
Back up to 35.
Oh, you don't know.
Come on.
Don't get cocky.
Don't get cocky.
Great. 35. And then Ray.
How many of these do I need to use to hit?
Because there's four on top.
There's four on top. Okay. So I can either use one per and then roll one, two damage.
At this point, with the AK4A7, they're grouped enough that if you want to do multiple targets,
you can spend as many per target as you wish. But like, I remind you again.
That's your close, not only close to depletion, but there's also the fact that they're also.
dealing with 35 mile an hour wind up on top of them as well too.
That's delightful.
So, two, three.
Let me use three degrees of success against just shooting them.
Against a shooting them.
Just spraying.
That's on top of your two, so by all means,
because you get two just for the AK.
Two plus three.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Just spraying.
You'll be a little slow them down.
And then you'll have your target individual once too much.
Come on.
Big money no Emmys.
Oh, oh.
Two, you got two.
We're starting.
And we have no ones.
So we have 15, 20, 22, 22, 26, plus,
plus 11 and 37 and 4, 41.
41.
Would you paint the picture of you clearing this rail driver
from everything that's on top of it?
Absolutely.
So after my previous experience with that ugly abomination,
I just start screaming, what are these things?
What are these things? What are these things?
And spraying and just like, focus, focus, focus, focus, focus,
as each one of their heads just kind of explodes
and they fly off the side of the rail drive.
It's just the, between just the head shots
and just the mid-body shots, you just watch as,
even if you didn't kill them from the body shots themselves,
just the sheer force of being hit by this caliber,
bullet is enough to knock them as they just tumble off the side of the rail driver
clearing everything on top of it so yes excellent and we gonna see now and I'm
assuming I'm out at this point no no actually you got a roll 30 you need to get over 30
with your die roll that's how yeah the capacity works okay okay yeah I'm fine man
you had a long clip in there girl yeah yeah well she's supposed to do very
precise control births right
At this stage, you can start to feel, as you go into the turn, Jenny,
as you're coming out of the canyon, you start to kind of see
as this first turn as a slow kind of 15 degree turn around.
And you can feel that it's definitely everyone's leaning a little bit
into the point of where I'd actually like everyone
to make balance checks at this point, just to make sure that they're maintaining.
Pretty sure I'm off balance right now.
Yeah.
Actually, that's a good point.
Add a difficulty dice as well too.
Thanks, man.
Ooh, I just toppled over.
You pass me down it.
You need difficulty dice added to it.
Difficult?
Oh no, just him.
Just you?
Just you?
Just you're holding me.
Oh yeah, okay.
You're good.
You're good.
Yeah, I'm good.
I'm very balanced.
I do you.
I need a failure.
One success.
Okay.
Then for this intent phase, if people are doing anything,
anyone who made the balance check
doesn't have to add a difficulty dice
to their next check.
I did not make the balance.
You did not.
Then whatever you do this round,
you're gonna have to add a black dice to your check.
So what does difficulty dice do?
So what difficulty dice does is a lot
of it's environmental modifiers or elements
that the world is barreling upon you,
that black dice basically just adds to your die roll.
So if you have a 45 and you roll a five on that black dice
and now becomes a 50, all right?
What is this thing?
Do they explode as well?
They absolutely explode.
Oh, that's absolutely.
Yes.
So this just adds to the,
Yeah, it adds to that.
So if anyone made balance checks,
they do not have to take that for their next turn.
If they didn't, then they have to take that for this turn.
All right, Aschus and Grapple.
Band-Aid.
If we were to count that balance roll,
I would have had like four degrees of success.
Oh, would you just like some extra survival points?
No, so what I would like to do instead,
since I saw her driving kind of go off balance,
I would like to come up and steady her
and get rid of her difficulty.
You can use it to count her degrees of failure.
Yeah, absolutely.
So you watch it, as she's leaning into the turn,
she's kind of starting to move a little bit.
You can narrate it for me.
Yeah, and I just come up behind you and I'm like,
I got you, I got you, and we're gonna steady this out.
Would it be possible since I had four
to kind of preemptively help on like a driving check
that would be coming up?
I mean, I got rid of the difficulty dive.
Yeah, this is mostly a balance.
This isn't you helping drive by any circumstances.
That's fair.
But you didn't negate her degrees of failure.
Cool.
How many failures did she have?
Just one.
Well, you get a difficulty die.
Does he get three success worth of survival points?
Oh, that's true.
Yeah, I could absolutely buy them off of you for survival points.
Well, what are you offering?
Yeah.
Just kidding.
Yeah, no, what I'll do, and this comes later,
remind me, because I'll actually have you maybe notice
a little something that wasn't in there before.
It's a tiny container.
Oh, in the rail drive, I got it.
In the compartment that wasn't in the sleeper car
where all the stuff was requisitioned.
Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool.
So you maybe notice something as you're standing here.
Oh, that's there.
Got it.
And I'll see you that for later.
Yes.
And then, Rayth, your intent, are you helping Bandit?
How much of this, I mean, how open, how much space is there in this thing that's peeled open?
It is peeled up to about waist height.
Okay.
You know?
And how much of this guy is sticking through it?
His arm is on his leg, right?
So you can see that it's got half his body is in there.
Half his body is in there as it's pulled out.
And you can see several other ones that are running on the tracks that seem to be nipping at the heels of the rail driver as well, too.
Okay.
Yeah, I want to attack this one, but focus primarily on like, if it's stretched out like this.
Yes. I want to just go down with my sword multiple times on like the head and arm.
Just try to go through both.
Okay.
Okay.
And then, since I don't want to waste a turn, then I'm going to go and do a spotless and outside.
Right.
So I think I know what everyone wants to do, but let's just lock it down by using the whiteboard.
Wraith, would you mind writing everyone's intent down?
No problem. Thank you.
All right. Let's start out with G.
Lucky Jenny.
All right, coasting on this next turn.
Yeah, it's gonna take a drive check.
It's a bit more hairy than the last one was.
So maintaining speed, being careful.
Yeah, we're at 30 miles an hour.
Yeah.
We decided to go up to 35.
That's what, I'm gonna be look out, goggles on.
Looking after that entrance.
Make it work.
So I'm gonna be keeping my eyes open
and watching the road.
Okay, Ray.
I am coming down because I heard
a private pretty boy at the screaming,
so I'm gonna come down.
That's a good one.
Because I can't, I know I'm not gonna shoot inside,
so I'm coming down and pulling my machete as he comes.
So, we'll say,
I mean, my kookri, my kukri.
It says machete, but it's a kukri.
I am going on a arm chopping rampage.
Thanks, bro.
Also technically helping Asher, but.
He's just gonna call it.
Let's see.
You better be just helping Asher.
This is not about you.
I just like chopping.
You made this about me.
And then what are you doing?
Besides complaining.
I'm shooting the guy holding me right here,
doing a defensive firing.
Which, to be fair, and Asher did ask me this beforehand,
I did absolutely spend risk to give that particular infected
some burly strength enough that he could rip open metal like that.
Thanks, man, looking out.
Yep, it's my job.
All right, so intent-wise, Jenny is coasting.
Band-aid is listening and observing.
Ray is descending from the crow's nest and assisting.
Attack and assist, yeah.
Raith is on an arm chopping rampage,
and Asher is firing into the burly infected who is holding him.
So I know your speed, you've got your speed figured out.
You two don't require speed for this,
but if you're coming down on an assist,
I'm gonna call that two actions.
Move action in there.
I'm actually gonna give you three
since you still don't theoretically know
how you wanna spend your stuff yet.
All right, roll them up.
Ooh.
Ooh.
Yeah.
Cool, then Astrolets resolve your dice.
I will spend my one success
to do just more damage to beefcake over here.
Roll the third one.
Did you get a one?
No one.
May I have it, please?
You may have it, here.
Enjoy that.
Great.
So you pull, you basically, as you swam down onto the ground
after this thing is pulled on you and
just gave you a yank almost sliding you can hear your tack back
kind of squeak along the bare metal.
a little bit.
As you originally had it lined up,
but just the jolt of being pulled so drastically,
you just fire and you kind of just hit it along the side
of its shoulder, which is not the one
it's holding onto you at the moment.
And you can see a couple of the paddling,
of the few infected that are still nipping at the very heels
of the rail driver at this stage.
So, great!
All right.
So I got five degrees of success.
Thank the Lord.
On my chopping.
Yes.
My initial damage is only three to start.
Any ones?
There's a one, yeah.
This count once.
All right.
At five, you could kuda-graw it,
because it's also prone.
Kudragras sounds great.
I love the sound of kudegras.
Kudegras.
Okay.
Let's do that.
But I mean, that only takes three successes.
Which means you could use the other two
to make even more dice.
So let's do these three first.
These are from my kudegra.
Okay.
And unfortunately, there's a one in there.
That's fine.
That's fine.
We just talked about this.
Nine, nine more.
Nine, okay.
And then there's another two in here.
Yes, thank you.
That's 10, plus five, 15.
Oh, sorry, 15, 18, plus my initial.
Nine, right?
Two.
Or two? Two.
Two, so I'm up to 20. 20.
Would you explain to me how this thing is just,
well, you tell me the story.
Yes.
So I reel back with my Viking blade,
And I chop through its arm just above the elbow.
Right, and blood just, the one that's gripping him.
Just squirts out, kind of covering Asher's legs a little bit.
And I did that with enough force.
New!
That it makes him kind of fall over a bit.
And I lean back and I kick his shoulder with my foot
to shove him out through the opening of the rail drive.
As it scrapes with one last claw as it comes out.
If it's last remaining arm, you kind of watch as it
peels a little bit of metal with it as bonus.
it hits a couple of other infected that it was nipping on the back of any of you watch as they kind of tumble
through the small pier that you have. But still a few more on the heel.
Okay. Great. Then that goes all the way down to Ray.
I come down to see this extravagant display and I scream, shut your eyes, shut your mouth, and I grab him and pull him back onto the car.
Okay.
wiping off with any piece of cloth I can find wiping stuff off of anything that is exposed on him.
Got it. All right, great. That's not going to require a chicken. We'll resolve that in the next round.
So, Jenny. Yes. Yes. Five degrees of failure. All right. We can talk this out.
Let's talk it out. How would you like to resolve some of your failures? Let's talk it out.
I will tell you that I will only purchase away two of them with them.
risk at this stage. Maybe we took that turn a little too fast. Too fast. And it starts to, I can feel it lifting on one side. Yep, I think that's a great way. And I think what's maybe even more interesting is that as you took the turn a little bit too much, maybe it's too slow. Maybe you're actually just starting to feel it as it's starting to come up a little bit. And at this point, everyone was going to have to make some balance checks or, or, you're just starting to feel it.
you're going to have to communicate the counterweight that needs to happen for this thing not to tip.
The war is over and both sides lost.
Kingdoms were reduced to cinders and armies scattered like bones in the dust.
Now the survivors claw to what's left of a broken world, praying the darkness chooses someone else tonight.
But in the shadow dark, the darkness always wins.
This is old school adventuring

This is a brutal rules light nightmare

Tell me.
Okay.
I spot the lean.
We all instinctively feel this happening,
so we want to shift over to one side.
I roll.
We can drag in the right direction.
Right.
I mean, and I have cat like grace,
so I can just hop up.
This is a big thing.
This is a huge show.
This is a huge show.
That's a big deal. So that's good for Band-Aid. Band-Aid's covered for the spot the lean. I need balance checks from the other three.
No problem. Yeah.
I got... Where the heck is balance? There it is. Oh, wow. I got two, wait sorry. One success.
Okay, and I got massive failure. Like, catastrophic failure.
You want this? You want it?
Yeah, like I felt, I went over to... She's also 98 pounds.
I actually know what's going to happen here, so it's fine.
So Band-Aid, you jump over and try to spot the lean,
and Rayth Band-Dand-E, everyone just kind of gets onto the top
and just try to put down as much as they possibly can.
And there's actually even no infected
that are currently on the rail driver at the moment.
And you're still just coming out to the very last bit of the canyon,
and Band-aid you can actually see out,
you can start to see where the rolling hills
that are kind of like barricading you
on either side of it are starting to,
about half a football field,
going to come down and then back out into the prairie lens.
But the walls are actually pretty closely tight to you
at this stage, the walls of dirt.
And the leaning that you had to get into,
you can actually start to hear the,
and you can feel,
it start to vibrate as it's leaning against the rock
and dirt wall of the side canyon.
And you can actually start to feel
as parts of it, the rail, the mountain bikes,
parts of the things that were mounted onto
are just being pulled off of the rail driver
with immense amount of veracity.
So at this stage, I'm dropping about 100 survival points
with the items on the rail driver.
My bike!
And it's currently still leaning.
Beautiful mountain bike.
I'm so sorry.
That's like a third of what we have left.
And it's still leaning against the side
of the rock wall at this stage.
How am able to resolve this?
How would you like to resolve this?
Well, we're balanced. I mean, I didn't come unbalanced. Yeah. So I'm laying there. She pulled me back.
You can feel this thing and you can hear the grinding of the rail driver pressing against the wall.
Yes. So I'd like to, I move myself over to the up side to plant myself grabbing the side, like a bit of strap, like the canvas straps on the side of the wall.
And then she's also holding on to me. So I'm going to grab onto her to try and brace us both against the good side of the train, hopefully also to mitigate.
a little bit of her failure.
Yeah.
You see her five.
Trust me, I just resolved all of your failures right now.
Also, we're good.
It's fine, and it's actually not even just so much
your failure, Anjali.
It's the fact that we had failures over here
on the drive check as well.
Do you guys have any hairbrain schemes
to get this thing back up beyond just, of course,
slowing down the rail driver as much as you can?
Engineer?
Right, yeah, can I use one of my skills where I like,
oh, I remember this thing?
From that time.
So from your characters, if you wanna burn
some gestalt knowledge, I'll let you just get one or two.
Yes.
But I think at this point, what I'm actually most interested
is it's counterweight's the most important.
Slowing it on this and counterweight is vital.
At this stage, you feel like that,
thankfully because of the wall of the canyon,
you have not tipped to a critical point.
You're just leaning against this point.
And we're all on that side.
And everyone's, you've got enough weight
so you know that the people are not enough at this stage.
So it either has to be more items,
Or someone, and again, this is the only thing you're thinking about,
someone, several people have to get out there
and just lean hard against the two cars that you have
in order to make sure that there's enough of a pullback
that it can land back on its rails.
Okay, okay.
So I mean, what if you start breaking and I can climb out the window?
Both of us can do that and just yank.
Just lean into it.
Get the heavier person.
Yeah, the heavier person should lean.
Yeah.
Yes.
Okay, I guess.
Raw.
Okay, and yes, and I'm gonna be breaking.
Breaking.
I'm gonna tell you, Band-Aid,
I need you to do something for me.
What?
I need you to climb out this window
and I need you to put all your strength
and lean the opposite way.
Okay, physics, I guess.
Yeah, physics.
Let's do it.
What's awesome is that that's gonna happen
at the same time as he's doing it from a different car.
Oh, hey, yeah.
Hi, Bandit.
We're both gonna meet outside.
I love that.
Let's see you.
You do okay?
All right.
Great minds.
Guys, just to resolve this, there's no infected
on the rail car at the moment,
and there's just this, and the canyon is coming.
This is the one chance to get it down before the canyon starts to open.
Is there a door in the conductor side that opens up?
Absolutely.
There is essentially the driver's side door in the old.
in the old armored car that you can open
and you can lean out that window
or lean into that window, whatever it's gonna be.
Okay.
Definitely out.
Out.
Because it's the other side, right?
So I'm gonna want balance checks from both of you.
With a difficulty dice because there is 35 mile an hour wind
whipping about you as you're attempting to counterbalance
this thing as much as you possibly can.
Let's leave it there.
Go for it.
Tell me what's happening.
You praying?
Okay.
Okay.
Oh, Rayth, my man.
Yep.
Just flat zero.
Flat zero.
Oh, nice.
Excellent.
43, so I'm just a success.
You're just a success.
Both of you are just one degree of success,
which is minimum, all right?
So, Band-Aid and Rayth together.
Tell me how you tip this thing back.
So I go over to the door,
and I'm like fidgeting with the lock mechanism
or whatever, trying to get
it open and because like we're against the canyon wall,
there's plenty of space over there.
Yes. So the door that I'm opening flings open
with the wind and I just kind of step back
and do a running jump and grab onto like the,
like I'm expecting like some sort of bar above it
and like swing out.
Awesome.
Yeah.
If I can, I want to like wall run.
No.
What's the fucking manual.
But I'm just like in my mind, I'm like, in my mind,
And like, no way am I going to lean,
because there's nothing to lean against,
so I need to make, like, pendulum motion.
Oh, nice, yeah.
So you're just making a big swinging kind of, like, flat.
And like, using my core muscles to, like,
roll your way up.
Also, it'll help slow that a little bit too,
because you're making a little drag.
Sure.
With the door as well.
Yeah.
Great.
Well, the floor is slightly angled in here.
These two have their back pressed up against the side of the door.
Yeah.
And I just basically do kind of, like, I unlatch the door
and let it just sit there,
and the wind is kind of banging
it a little bit.
Yeah.
And then I just kind of run up to it.
Like there's only a tiny bit of space from side to side.
I push out and I grab onto the bar so the door flings open like this.
Yeah.
And I, this is my centrifugal force, fly out with it.
And the door just slams back against itself so that I'm hanging from, again, like he is, from the side of the, but I'm on the side of the, but I'm on the side of the carriage, basically.
So both of you.
And I see him.
He's like, hey.
I see him.
I got to, I start laughing.
No.
And as you both are kind of tipping,
you can kind of hear the wheels squeaking
as the rumbling of the dirt continues to kind of get into it.
And this whole span is about maybe 10 or 15 seconds
of just feeling this thing, just run up against it.
And as you both are just pulling onto it
and pulling onto as hard as you can,
you can feel as the train starts to slow down.
It's just, e-he-hum.
And then it, co-hm, and you can actually feel
as all the stuff that was in.
inside of the sleeper car that wasn't ratcheted down
or anything just kind of like lifts
and watches just kind of scatters.
No, I did take a turn to strap as much everything I could down.
So all the vitals are fine.
This is mostly just the loosey-goosey stuff.
So including your butts.
And the remaining shine.
My butts are loosey goosey.
Yes, and as it,
dum, dum, dum, dump,
settles in, seconds go by before the canyon
just comes out from on the side of you.
And you can start to see the open planes ahead of you.
and the infected, the prairie dogs that were essentially
running behind are now trailed and seemed to be off and away
at this stage.
That went so good.
I swing back in and the door closes
and I pull out my earbuds.
Oh my God!
Yes!
It's awesome.
Yeah, it's last.
I'm still focused on getting you cleaned up.
Yeah, as Ray is just, if,
feverishly still trying to clean the blood.
Asher, I still do have damage dice I need to allocate to you.
Awesome.
So, this is for Ray.
Is Ray getting secret info?
Well, she's the one inspecting your body right now.
I don't like, I don't like this.
I don't like secrets.
Yeah, she's the closest one to you.
And she has mysterious medical knowledge.
Oh, that's right.
She's wiping me.
She haven't had a chance to talk about yet.
I'm already immediately tried to get as much of it off of any open skin, anything, and especially wear.
Well, I am clothed and armored from head to toe.
Right.
So any blood that got on me would not have had contact with skin yet.
Can I have some damage dice?
Sure. How many you need?
I need three, please.
Send it on down.
All right. So, this is yours.
For a flesh wound on my leg?
Yeah.
God!
This guy was so strong.
You saw him peel open the back of the thing.
So that's 15.
Which means it's gonna give him,
it's only his damage three.
So yeah, so you explain that he took 15 damage,
which now means he has sustained an open wound.
Which means you're gonna have negative one damage threshold
as your health points continue to diminish.
Everyone has five health points,
and essentially it's five positions for injuries at this stage.
And he has sustained a single injury as an open wound.
All right, well, Jenny,
The train's still going, but now that it's leveled out, you can hear it's not, it's not sounding as smooth as it was before you first went into Eureka.
You can hear that there's a lot of still metal grinding on itself in the rail driver as you're continuing to move at the 30 miles an hour pace that you're continuing to go through.
Just for the record, I came back in and shut the door.
Right. Okay. Thank you. Duly noted.
So do you want to keep driving for a little while?
Yeah, kind of.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
Like we're not going to be going super fast,
but I want us to keep moving.
So we put lots of distance between us and Eureka.
So pick up the pace, I guess.
That's fine, you can go back to your 35.
If you've got this covered, I'm going to go back and see
how the damage is right there.
So I'm going to open the locked door on our cart
and then start banging on the locked door
that I can't get into in the sleeper cart.
I go over and I open up the bar and let him in.
Come back here, like, hey, get to see you on this side.
Band-aid, I need you.
Okay.
So I'll head straight over to, what do I see
when I come into the sleeper cart?
Oh, you see him on the ground.
On the ground.
In the back, like towards the back door.
And you can see the peeled up part of the rail driver
that was lifted up in the very end as well too.
And you can see, Ray,
kneeling next to Asher at the moment.
Jeez, all right, uh, yeah, I'll come right over.
It squeezed my leg through my clothes.
Uh-huh.
Through the armor.
This is all, I can feel, I don't know what,
I'm not looking, but I can feel the blood pooling all down here.
Did it do that, pointing to the back?
It did, it did that.
It peeled up the fucking metal.
I do know.
Like a can of cat food.
I do know.
What do you know?
That's not your blood.
Well, let's do something about that.

The world is ending.
You just don't know it yet, but you feel it deep down in your bones, don't you?
Some call it the great undoing as it seeps in at the edges of forgotten places,
where crumbling abandoned ruins slowly fade away and in their fading.
These places wear thin the fabric of reality.
They're wrought creeping outward.
It calls to you and to the others.
