I'm Dan Casey, and this is Sagas of Sund requests and answers. Folks, we're going to get into it in just one moment, but first, let me reintroduce my amazing cast. Danielle Radford. Amy Vorpal.
Starting point is 00:01:45 Jason Wynn. And our special guest. Becca Scott. Folks, we're going to get into this in one second, but as always, spoilers ahead for the latest episode of Goblin Mode. If you haven't watched or listened to it yet, please go back. Do that, then come back here. I thank you in advance. And with that said, let's get into it.
Starting point is 00:02:04 So this was a wild episode. Yeah. A lot of combat and a lot of lore condensed into a single episode, you know, for what was effectively, we were in one room, but a lot happened. Yes, I, I, that went by so freaking fast to me. Like, I mean, I don't know how y'all are feeling, but yeah, you're just doing, you're doing math. You're like running through combat, and then all of a sudden Dan's guessing your very wish that you thought, no one would know. Like, but then, but you remember that you dropped a seed ages ago and, and then you're crying.
Starting point is 00:02:41 So yeah, yeah, there's some, there's some feelings happening for sure. Look, I came into this campaign with one goal, make Amy cry. Yeah. We just went out a different way. No, that is like, when, I mean, really, you hear me go, wait, how do you know that? How did I, what happened when I said that? And, you know, you've all, I know that you've got the hint. I guess I just want to hear from you, like, how are you piecing this together?
Starting point is 00:03:13 Yeah, so. I actually still am flummox. From my perspective, I did take kind of a swing in the dark. A lot of this has been about us sneaking out the Sundari and, or their avatars or people that are connected to them. So, you know, this entity seemed very powerful. encased in this giant rare crystal, something that to me would be worth a fortune or you'd be very lucky to find it. Then your description to Danielle when busy entered the radiance of the cotton candy pink light
Starting point is 00:03:46 was that she felt possibility like anything could happen. She felt fortuitous. And I was like, okay, this reminds, like, I remember I was like really excited when we did that pillar puzzle back in Erd Kerr Fathom because. we learned the Sundari's names. Previously, we only knew a couple, and now we got to learn who they are and their appellations like Arsenia,
Starting point is 00:04:10 sovereign of grace, ta sovereign of valor, or denth sovereign of healing, sod of sovereign of nature, Ariadne, sovereign of wisdom, and my favorite, because it bucks tradition, Euthis Wanderer's Fortune. That to me, it sounds like, I was like, I have to meet this person,
Starting point is 00:04:25 and we're better than this place that really, that really embodies the idea of fortune and prosperity in the wake of, as we learned last episode, what we called the searing, this catastrophic cataclysmic event, they called the settling, because they got to settle in and really build their settlement here amidst all of this endless fortune, all these gems. So I just kind of took a shot in the dark and was hoping that I was right.
Starting point is 00:04:47 God, that's so smart. So a lot of people joke that you can't win D&D, but you did, in fact. I did you. I saw one mystery, and I will now die next episode. There was. There was, I knew that maybe you would put, you might put two and two together that, oh, this is a, this is a Sundara.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Like, what if this is a Sundara? And I was like, oh, that would be cool if they knew that. But to freaking nail it on the head with you this. Becca, there's also like extra lore that there are five, there are five that are really well known. And then there's this random sixth that kind of isn't really talked about. There also is only five articles of, five, magic items basically, not a sixth one.
Starting point is 00:05:31 And so for you to guess Euthis, who is the kind of red-headed stepchild, is really freaking cool. Well done. Yeah, well done. Anyway. And I'm so glad that the settling, obviously the Dwarven word for this hearing, that was not Becca just forgetting the word, became canon and helped you on your path. But I like that because it was organic and it's just like, okay, actually, actually, actually
Starting point is 00:05:59 Actually, this is kind of a cool way to look at what potentially for the rest of the world, if it's this like isolationist colony, what they could potentially do. Like, oh, for us, it was that. We just settled in. We're, like, formed our settlement here, and now we're, like, this major trade hub. So, yeah, I'm excited to see where this leads. I admit I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get to see where Tipy's plan led. Okay, it just goes to show difference in play styles.
Starting point is 00:06:27 What was Timp's Plan? Yeah, what was Simpies Plan? To be this plan, not understanding that there might be something very precious and important to the story and to the realm in general inside was to catapult a stick of dynamite right into the middle and just pray that that worked. Because to me, I was like, well, there's like, you know, my mind didn't immediately go to like, oh, this is something good inside until the pink stuff started happening. In my mind, I was like, well, when I looked at it with a scope, it was like, okay, it speaks abyssal, which usually isn't a good thing. That means demon stuff.
Starting point is 00:07:05 And then it's glowing red. And then there's these weird flesh imp demons all over it. It was a good context place. Yeah, I was like, well, I'm just going to blow the whole damn thing up. I mean, that feels like it'll work. My hope was that it would have just blown Euthis out of her painite crystal prison. Yeah. But who knows?
Starting point is 00:07:26 Maybe you would just set the record straight and people would go back to think there's only five sundari. Imagine the scene where we're just standing over you as this corpse being like, Greetings, adventurers. Spring has sprung here in Los Angeles, and that means it's a brief period where it's only 75 degrees instead of 95 degrees.
Starting point is 00:07:46 I'll take it. And that means I've been outside a lot more. Walking around, occasionally galloping after a toddler hopped up on juice boxes, traveling a bit, you know the vibe. And after doing some spring cleaning, my wardrobe, I got to say, looking a little bit sad. I want clothes that can keep up with me and my son, but updating my wardrobe every spring sounds pretty expensive. So that's why I wound up signing up for Fabletics as a VIP. It let me overhaul my springtime outfits without obliterating my bank account. New VIPs unlock major savings on that first purchase, so trying new fits feels way more doable.
Starting point is 00:08:22 When I signed up as a new VIP with Fabletics, I got 70 to 80% off everything. It made it easy to grab a few new pieces without overthinking it. And the quality really surprised me. Everything feels premium and soft and breathable, but you're not paying those premium prices. What I like most, though, is how versatile everything is. You've got stuff you can work out in, but also wear out. There's matching sets, lightweight hoodies, joggers, teas, you name it. The kind of stuff you can throw on in the morning and not worry about later.
Starting point is 00:08:50 When I'm at home, my favorite thing to pull on. is the oversized hoodie. It's so comfy I could just live in it 24-7. It's perfect for walking my dog on like a chilly night. But what I'm out and about, I've really been loving the ribbed Johnny Collar Polo. It makes me look like I should be taking a high-powered meeting by the pool at the White Lotus, but hopefully with less murder involved. I don't know. It's insanely comfortable. I highly recommend it. So shop now at fabletics.com slash critical role to get 70 to 80% off everything when you sign up as a new VIP. Take a quick. style quiz and be sure to select critical role when prompted to unlock your 70 to 80% off.
Starting point is 00:09:27 This is a limited time offer, so don't wait. Again, that's fablatics.com slash critical role for 70 to 80% off everything as a new VIP. And now, on to the show. Greetings, adventurers. Lately, I've been getting a bit more intentional about what I wear from day to day, because instead of just falling out of whatever laundry baskets nearby, I've been leaning into pieces that feel easy and comfortable, but still put together. because it just makes getting dressed simpler when I have a plan.
Starting point is 00:09:57 Quince has been my go-to to help with that, because the fabrics feel elevated, the fits are clean, and everything just works without me needing to overthink it. And Quintz has all the wardrobe staples you need for spring. Think 100% European linen shorts and shirts from just $34. They're lightweight, they're breathable, they're comfortable, your legs and torso will thank you, and you will still look put together.
Starting point is 00:10:19 And clean 100% Pima Cotton Tees with a softness, Well, you got to feel that to believe it. Believe you me. Their pants also hit that same balance. They're relaxed. They're comfortable, but still polished enough to wear basically anywhere. And everything's priced between 50 and 80% less than what you'd find at similar brands. Quince works directly with ethical factories and cuts out the middlemen so you're getting premium materials without the markup. And since spring is here in Los Angeles, a brief period where it's 75 degrees instead of 95 degrees,
Starting point is 00:10:50 I spruced up my wardrobe with a pair of the company. stretch traveler five pocket pants and the heritage wash denim shirt. Not only do they feel great, but I unequivocally look good as hell while wearing them. That's just science. So refresh your every day with luxury you'll actually use. Head to quince.com slash critical role for free shipping on your order and 365 day returns. Now available in Canada too. That's Q-U-I-N-C-E.com slash critical role for free shipping and 365-day returns. Dave returns. Quince.com slash critical role.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Fours fortune. Yeah. Yeah, I'm going to need a, I'm going to need a week to clean up. That's when you make a decision, you're playing a video game, then all of a sudden it says quest failed, and you're like, what did I just do that caused this? Yes, yes. So, so I love that you gave me the sanctuary exfoliation because... Thank you for volunteering.
Starting point is 00:11:46 Yeah, it would have been way worse. Had I not had the search. Yeah. Yeah. The only thing stopped. You're stopping completely wrecking this entire thing and the Sundari is the fact that if you did, you would no longer be protected. True, true, true, true.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Well, an important thing to bring up is Picari's jealousy, since we're talking about exfoliation. Yeah, listen, it wasn't that deep, Piccarus, so, you know. Yeah, it's just a little... She definitely clocked. It's hard to not clock a big old dwarf rubbing a gem all over your exf. exposed flesh.
Starting point is 00:12:25 But just think about how unsexy Tippy would have made it. You know what I mean? It's like, Jam, he's wincing. Yeah, unsexy. Probably ticklish, probably ticklish, tears in his eyes for no reason. But you don't know of a car as a track as you.
Starting point is 00:12:38 True. Like, once Pecara's peak. To discomfort. Listen, not going to yuck for yum, okay. I do, I do love, too, that, well, Bizzy got the first look at the little light, the little shining light that flowed out and arguably was going to help. And you had that amazing move to communicate with the being inside and draw that connection.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Yeah. Yeah, because I don't have anything else that's useful in this moment. There's nothing. I can't, like, I can do a sneak attack with a dart on a swarm of animals. Like, looking at all of my spells, there's really nothing else that I could do. You know, I tried to distract them. they are drawn to the magic and to the feeling. They weren't drawn by anything visual or anything like that.
Starting point is 00:13:26 So it really was, I would love to take the credit and be like, oh, it's because I'm like super smart and empathetic. There was nothing else for me to do. I love that. That's where creative moves come from. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, that was my only move. And so those were my tooth.
Starting point is 00:13:41 It was like, get that, see if I can talk to the jammer, as we now know, but as we thought of the time, just the center of the chaos. and then tried, dear God, not to lose Tippy again. Yeah, he did take, I mean, you still took, I think, the most damage, and it was all friendly fire, man. It was all from my homies, yes, yeah. Me too, battled for who took, because I took, at the,
Starting point is 00:14:04 when I healed myself, I was at half damage. Yeah, for some reason, that's like the only, yeah, you, these things are so weak, it's just that there are a lot of them, but yeah, they really, they got after you, but thank goodness you finally have a cleric in your group. Very useful. Look, I didn't actually do any healing yet, but I was about to.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Century is close. Look, you didn't need to do healing because you were too busy kicking ass. Yeah. Thank you for the really awesome spellbook. Oh yeah, well, you know, when you're making Spirit Guardians, you gotta really go from the heart.
Starting point is 00:14:37 I had to doodle the little dwarf baby. Yeah! Squeezies! Oh, yeah, the beard. Oh, that's a version of upbees. It's so cute. The babies do have beards for sure. 100%
Starting point is 00:14:49 Yeah. Oh my gosh. Just little baby dudes. Oh, y'all. So in your mind, because you were so moved by Dan, you know, the Lord of Deduction over here. Yeah, the Lord of the Deduction. Figuring out everything.
Starting point is 00:15:03 And a Lord of the deduction to you and a Lord of the Deduction to you. And a Lord of the Deduction. Yeah. And did you actually, you didn't expect us to know who that was? No. I mean, zero faith in you guys. I will say, got free to. is an NPC that I get to control that has, that can, you know,
Starting point is 00:15:22 that could figure that out. That can reveal things, but, but no, and I, it's not because I thought you were dumb or couldn't figure it out, but no, I was, I was, I was, like, I don't think I've given them enough, like, planted enough seeds. I didn't even, look, I didn't even think about it. I was like, there's no way that they're gonna know this. I, I didn't, if I did anything, I buried the lead and maybe they would pick up that, you
Starting point is 00:15:48 you know, Aesah at the Sundari, maybe they would pick up that he's got the artifact from her because there was a whole scene there. But, yeah, Euthis was like a name on a bullet-pointed list. And I was like, yeah, that's kind of it. So no, absolutely not. Not in my wildest dreams. If you couldn't tell from my, like, facial expression.
Starting point is 00:16:08 And then, yeah, we're like on a show, but I'm like whispering like, hey, how did you? How did you know this? Yeah, who told you? I was like, is this the character? No, I don't care. I could not tell. I was like, yeah, this is very...
Starting point is 00:16:19 Bigs had a really fascinating and enlightening conversation with Yunk Jagger before they left. Yonge Jagger. Deep regional religion and theology? Yeah, I mean, I want to talk more about the battle, but it's kind of like, how do you top... How do you top a player going so deep, taking great notes and getting something right that you were like, wait, what? Like, how we're... Like, we're coming to the end of this season, unfortunately. But it does feel like
Starting point is 00:16:48 it just blew my mind that you we're now, you and I, in that moment we're speaking the same language and maybe had been all along. But yeah, it's pretty magical. Highly recommend that. I don't know how you do it, but yeah. Just take notes, kids. That's all you have to do. You did tell me. At the beginning of the game,
Starting point is 00:17:08 you're like, I'm going to take notes. And I was like, oh, well, you don't want to spend all your time. It's going to be on camera. Maybe you don't have to spend all your time writing stuff down or anything like that. And you're like, no, no, no, I think it's important. I've played in games before, and the person who does take the notes, like really, really triumphs.
Starting point is 00:17:23 And I was like, okay, okay. But I didn't, I couldn't have ever guessed that it was gonna end in a cry fest. My most recent campaign that I played my home game, I, like, took zero notes. And I always felt like an ass-s-h-h-and-it was an NPC we'd met a hundred times before, and I'm like, hey, it's Jeff, I guess.
Starting point is 00:17:41 Yeah, yeah. It was just, I always, it felt like a deflated, some of the moments and deflated some of the potential for drama, and I didn't want to do that here because I know how hard you've worked on this, and it makes me more invested, too, and I'm like, well,
Starting point is 00:17:57 okay, this is probably going to be important. I like to write down the silly stuff as well because it makes me laugh when I read my notes again, like all the goblin names. Yes. Like, who wouldn't want to revisit Mudgeabomfra like six months from now? But I also want to make sure I'm not forgetting the big important stuff because, like, it's
Starting point is 00:18:13 been seated since episode one, And like literally, the very first conversation we overheard, the yester dusters, like talking about these relics that, spoiler, became very important to our lives in the fate of the world. So I'm trying to be, I'm trying to be an active player and pay attention with this. Well, hell yes.
Starting point is 00:18:34 I don't know. Wishing you could be there live for the big game, soaking up the atmosphere in the crowd, but too often, life gets busy, or the price hold you back. Priceline is here to help you make it happen. With millions of deals on flights, hotels, and rental cars, you can go see the game live.
Starting point is 00:18:57 Don't just dream about the trip. Book it with Priceline. Download the Priceline app or visit Priceline.com. Actual prices may vary, limited time offer. You say this place was steps from the water. We just haven't found the steps yet. How much did we save? Enough.
Starting point is 00:19:15 Enough to get you. Get lost. Or you could book a stay with Hilton. Welcome to your oceanfront room. Just steps from the water. The Hilton sale is on now. Book on Hilton.com or the Hilton app and save up to 20% to get the stay you expected. When you want savings, not surprises.
Starting point is 00:19:33 It matters where you stay. Hilton for the stay. I think I would give you inspiration, but I don't, I apparently don't use that mechanic. Oh, we don't need it. It's more interesting. I don't need inspiration. Let the dice do the time. I'm too blessed to be stressed.
Starting point is 00:19:50 To be fair, you can make up, I made up for all the times you didn't give inspiration by totally cheating on not holding concentration on the bless of the concentration, yes, yes. Those things work differently. You mentioned this is a place where we feel that swell of magic. Yeah!
Starting point is 00:20:06 Yeah! Part of the dwarf and power. Yeah, you're so organized, you can concentrate on two things at once. Multitasking. Yeah, the opposite of Becca. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:20:16 Just, I had a question, so, like, Becca, you play a lot of D&D. Do you, is this a support character of the type of roles that you go for? Are you more like in the mix with stuff? Well, Amy made a big face, and I don't know what that means. Oh, I know, not pure chaos. I think, I think we already have a chaos agent. I'm not trying. I promise.
Starting point is 00:20:40 No, I would say, sorry, that face was just because Becca's a shenanigans lady. Oh, okay. You're a connoisseur of the shenanigans. We can curse? Yes, I come to f*** it up. Because I was given a cleric, I was like, I will try and choose responsible spells instead of just throwing dynamite
Starting point is 00:20:57 into the middle of a pile. But that is my preferred place. It's nice to know there's another like-minded place. I'm giving you this dynamite because it's what I want to do. Yeah, that is when I was like, Brigny as what do you think? She's like, well, yeah,
Starting point is 00:21:13 I think I'd be irresponsible not to have died. That's true. Yes, and. You should put it in that fisher. D and D's improv and saying no to someone's heart's desire, and that desire is dynamite. It's not bad. It's a treat.
Starting point is 00:21:28 All the fun. I can even use it. Yeah, treat you love. Don't worry, you'll remember it in like two encounters from now and you're like, wait a minute, I know what I have. We start the next session and I'm holding sizzling down. Oh my God. Gun tippy, you know what you have to do.
Starting point is 00:21:43 I do like all the justification. I do like all the justification. No, it's a bonus action, and it wasn't really my gun. It's my Eldridge canon. I just needed you to know that the sanctuary wasn't gonna go away and I wasn't gonna die again. Every episode, Amy dies a little inside, realizing what the artificer class kid is capable of.
Starting point is 00:21:59 It's true, I mean, it's my first time as an artificer, and they've got some tricks. Well, because you have, like, Rangers get familiars, and then they just get these, like, familiar that kind of can, like, fly and see things, or they can maybe attack a little, but it's like you get kind of too familiar, years, they each can attack and do damage on very, I think the homunculus acts independently of you.
Starting point is 00:22:21 I could cast my spells through it. Yeah, and it's like, okay, okay, okay, okay. Like when he first got these spells, he was saying, hey, I get this, I get this, and I, and my text back was like, what? No, no, no, ha ha ha, no, what? What's happening now? I have to beat that. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:22:38 Well, we're gonna find out what other hijinks that Tippy and the rest of his art of Mr. Kit can get up to you, and what we're going to learn about Euthis and the other Sundari next episode on Saga's of Sundry, Goblin Mode. With that said, thank you for watching, listening, and we'll see you next time. Bye-bye. Bye. The war is over and both sides lost.
