From the righteous gemstones to the frightous neck bones,
This is Sagas of Sundry Goblin Mode,
and specifically, Sages of Sundry
quests and answers. I'm Dan Casey,
and today we're going to break down the latest episode of Goblin Mode,
but to join me, I have my amazing cast, as always.
Daniel Radford.
Amy Forepa, Paul.
Jason Wynn.
And our special guest.
Becca Scott.
All right, folks, I have to warn you,
there are going to be a ton of spoilers
for the latest Goblin Mode in this episode,
so if you haven't listened to Goblin Mode or watched Goblin Mode yet,
please go back and do that because I don't want to ruin anything for you.
With that said, let's get into it.
Holy shit.
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
Dang it.
Dang it, die it.
All you had to do was stay in the words of Taylor Swift.
I don't know that barred.
Oh, yes.
Yes.
How about that?
How about that?
You got some good stuff though.
Got a promotion.
Got a promotion?
Kind of.
It's a temporary promotion and when they find out that the Sundari is gone,
I don't think that Ophret is going to let me keep that.
Yeah.
Yeah, RIP, or not.
But living up to my potential.
Yes.
So that's good.
I will say that having Euthis be buried in Fitzedel Delve, hiding out like a little bitch.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Okay, yeah.
You're really down now.
No, that was one of the first things I wrote when building this campaign.
Cool.
And what's interesting about that is once I was prepping for this episode,
and last episode,
it almost was like, oh yeah,
and then they, okay,
and then they find youth as there,
you know, that's fine.
Like it was so matter of fact
because I know,
I've known about it for months.
But it actually is like,
when you think about it,
it's actually more weighty
to have a, you know,
to have a deity that,
we've dropped hints
that there was a sixth one.
Yes.
But, and it somehow didn't die.
Like, that is more weighty
than even Eun-ZUG showing up.
And it's like, oh, yeah, of course.
Like, it matters.
But in my head,
since I'd planned it for so long, it was kind of like,
oh yeah, yeah, and then this thing happened.
Yeah, that was the abyssal that Danielle,
that busy translated back in,
when we were in Earned Kerr Fatham,
I think it was like...
No, no, in...
It was earlier.
It was in the wretched code.
It was in the Wretched Code.
The document.
Okay, right, the document that you translated,
sorry, we're heading to Erd Kerfathom,
I apologize.
Yes, yes.
I think it was combined the five
to restore for axis,
the landing ritual room
in Finfedel Delve,
Y6, but only five.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Why six Sundari, but only five artifacts?
Yes.
Yeah.
And this was what the question, the side of Aurelia, have been asking themselves.
And now you know why.
There is a sixth.
There is a sixth.
There is a six, that's why, yeah.
Yeah.
And there actually are six artifacts, as it turns out.
Yeah, the luckstone.
The luckstone.
The luck stone.
That was a clutch move.
Like, scrying is so cool.
So dope.
It's like, it's one of those, it's one of those things in D&D that you do not,
want your players to have.
You just don't.
Like, you just don't.
And in fact, when you, when you decided to scry, it was like, this, this episode might
be over, you know?
I might need to dive into what's, like, the prep for the next episode.
We just ended here.
But it was so, it was so cool that you were able to just use it and use it in a really cool way.
and then come back and, like, feel the weight of, like, everything that tell your friends and
they agree.
Like, I don't think anything that we thought we knew is true.
Greetings, adventurers.
Spring has sprung here in Los Angeles, and that means it's a brief period where it's only
75 degrees instead of 95 degrees.
I'll take it.
And that means I've been outside a lot more, walking around, occasionally galloping after
a toddler hopped up on juice boxes, traveling a bit.
You know the vibe.
And after doing some spring cleaning, my wardrobe, I gotta say, looking a little bit sad.
I want clothes that can keep up with me and my son, but updating my wardrobe every spring sounds pretty expensive.
So that's why I wound up signing up for Fabletics as a VIP.
It let me overhaul my springtime outfits without obliterating my bank account.
New VIPs unlock major savings on that first purchase, so trying new fits feels way more doable.
When I signed up as a new VIP with Fabletics, I got 70 to 80,000.
percent off everything. It made it easy to grab a few new pieces without overthinking it.
And the quality really surprised me. Everything feels premium and soft and breathable, but you're
not paying those premium prices. What I like most, though, is how versatile everything is.
You've got stuff you can work out in, but also wear out. There's matching sets,
lightweight hoodies, joggers, teas, you name it. The kind of stuff you can throw on in the
morning and not worry about later. When I'm at home, my favorite thing to pull on is the
oversized hoodie. It's so comfy I could just live in it 24-7.
It's perfect for walking my dog on like a chilly night.
But what I'm out and about, I've really been loving the ribbed Johnny Collar polo.
It makes me look like I should be taking a high-powered meeting by the pool at the White Lotus,
but hopefully with less murder involved.
I don't know.
It's insanely comfortable.
I highly recommend it.
So shop now at fabletics.com slash critical role to get 70 to 80% off everything when you sign up as a new VIP.
Take a quick style quiz and be sure to select critical role when prompted to unlock your 70 to 80%
percent off. This is a limited time offer, so don't wait. Again, that's fablatics.com
slash critical role for 70 to 80% off everything as a new VIP. And now, on to the show.
Greetings, adventurers. Lately, I've been getting a bit more intentional about what I wear from day
today, because instead of just falling out of whatever laundry baskets nearby, I've been
leaning into pieces that feel easy and comfortable, but still put together because it just
makes getting dressed simpler when I have a plan. Quince has been
my go to to help with that because the fabrics feel elevated, the fits are clean, and everything
just works without me needing to overthink it. And Quintz has all the wardrobe staples you
need for spring. Think 100% European linen shorts and shirts from just $34. They're lightweight,
they're breathable, they're comfortable, your legs and torso will thank you and you will still
look put together. And clean 100% Pima Cotton Tees with a softness. Well, you got to feel that to
believe it, believe you me. Their pants also hit that same balance.
They're relaxed, they're comfortable, but still polished enough to wear basically anywhere.
And everything's priced between 50 and 80% less than what you'd find at similar brands.
Quince works directly with ethical factories and cuts out the middlemen,
so you're getting premium materials without the markup.
And since spring is here in Los Angeles, a brief period where it's 75 degrees instead of 95 degrees,
I spruced up my wardrobe with a pair of the comfort stretch traveler five pocket pants
and the heritage washed denim shirt.
Not only do they feel great, but I unequivocally look good as hell while wearing them.
That's just science.
So refresh your every day with luxury you'll actually use.

Now available in Canada too.

It's one of those things where you've given us so many awesome magical items,
and it's definitely something that I struggle with when I play a lot of like RPGs,
tabletop or otherwise, you hoard all of these items and sometimes forget to make use of them.
And I was just like, I cannot not make use of these incredible abilities.
I need to scry at least once.
Who can I scry on?
I almost tried to scry on, I was trying to scry on, I was trying to scry on,
the Sundari we meant at the beginning of the game,
because she went to another realm,
but I was like,
Arsena.
Okay, maybe check on Unzug
because it sounded pretty suss at this point.
And you got the ability to describe,
that came from Unzug, right?
No, that came from the tattoo of Crass,
which is Arsena's gift.
We helped her way back when.
No, the gift that Unzug gave me
is the staff of Robert, which lets me turn it to a tree.
Which I cannot wait to you.
Just as good.
Just as good.
You never know.
You never know.
It's gonna happen.
Just wait.
You have to use it.
Yeah.
So the Payneite Crystal,
we should have brought with us.
And then everything would have been hunky dory?
Oh, that's interesting.
I, yeah, I mean, honestly.
Maybe slightly longer.
Like the notion that it is,
she is basically being charged by, you know,
batteries while she's been fit,
Fettledel delve. It just, that logic made a lot of sense to me that like, okay, you know,
centuries old and she's still able to protect everybody, but now she's just going to have this
huge awakening and kind of without really any consequence? Absolutely not. Like what about this
makes any sense at all? And it's like, she's weak as hell. The only reason she's got sustenance
is because she's channeling all of these gems. And once she gets attention, yeah, of course,
that's like radiating her,
that's radiating her power more.
The gems are talking to each other,
like a network.
Great, great, great.
You remove her from the network,
even just a little bit,
and it's like, yeah, cut the cord, man.
No more signal.
She's lost.
Oh my gosh, I mean, to me, that's like,
oh, she's been hiding and withering
for centuries.
She's gone.
I think, I think Fibbs probably read
way too much into her, like,
appellation.
She is, youthist wanderer's fortune,
not, like, basement dwellers' fortune.
There you go.
I think I had the same thought.
I was like, well, surely being outside
and is going to recharge her
and finally being in the world
that she helped protect and make
is going to make her stronger.
I do love that beat of false hope though
and then the thing that we kind of
maybe anticipated deep down
was going to happen with our boss maybe
didn't have the purest of intentions.
But even so, it's true to our characters
to be like, well, we simply must continue
regardless because we have to try to recharge her.
Yeah.
That's- Yeah.
And I think, I mean, you're right that like, yeah, being out in the open and is going
to be eventually like the cure.
It's just, she's too, she's too weak.
She's far gone, man.
Yeah, I do like that there were hints of like, Eun-Zig might not be who he says he was,
so it doesn't matter.
What we're going to do is still go forward and save youth as the best way we know how.
And honestly, that is the best way you know how it's just,
Eun-Zing might be a couple steps ahead of y'all.
That's all.
Yeah.
I also want to talk about the big moment we had where family reunion in the conference room.
I think, yeah, Busy had, like, just a huge episode.
Yeah, and I think for Busy, busy still,
busy very much sees herself as busy and not berignius at all.
You were so open to be called a shit mother and, like, be reminded of the,
berignious flaws. You're like, yeah, no, yeah, of course, yeah. She sucked, but I'm not, I, I, I've,
I've moved on and I move forward from, like, her mistakes. And I do think, but there is definitely
a fondness for her, uh, for B6, just because like B6 is, and again, it's not that thing of,
like, oh, we're related by blood because even then, like, who cares? Like, we have, I have
family that I have found through the Terror Squad, um, and we are not related by blood.
we are related by terror.
And so, like,
Busy's affection for B6 is very much because of,
of the things that they have in common as people,
because if B6 wasn't as,
and honestly, like, as nice and as sweet and as giving
and as caring and as nurturing,
along with all of her fantastic managerial skills,
like, those are the things that,
that's what binds busy to,
her and I also think that that's also
a huge part of why letting go
of Unzug was hard, but it wasn't
the worst because again, Busy's got
her family and as
much clout
and as much as she
gave to Unzug and
wanting to, you know, be
at the right hand and all of those
things. Again, if you think of him
as our dungeon daddy...
And I do. And I do.
What else would we think of this?
Again, like it's
I think Bizzy is starting to learn as she is in the world
that family is made and certain things are earned.
And, you know, B6 is now family because that is earned
and those are now earned experiences.
And Eun-Zug, the more that you hear,
the more that Bizzy realizes she didn't know this dude at all.
And so as much as it's sad and it's a real big bummer
that this is, he's not going to turn out to be,
like, maybe the good or the reformed person.
as maybe we were hoping he was
by the fact that he was nice to a goblin once.
Really, the bar is in the dirt.
It's easier to...
That's a real tell there, though.
Yeah, it was easier to go up.
Yeah, it was easier to go up.
All the innate trust of like, yeah, he is, he's Eun-ZUngu.
And of course, like, it's hard to beat it out of your system
that Unzug is great.
And so the trust, even, as you said last time,
that it was, you were kind of vibing against,
him as players, but as characters, it was like, yeah, we're still on Team Unzug.
And then this is the episode where it's like, well, yeah, your world almost shatters
with Dan's, with Phibbs as scrying.
Yeah, I mean, how else can you afford a 3,000 to 4,000 square foot marble mansion?
Only treachery.
Only treachery.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So let's do treachery.
If you're looking at it from the view of we are servants and our life and everything
that we've ever known is to serve this person,
then why wouldn't he have us serve him in even just this small way?
When we've, I mean, look, we've been like footstools.
Like, we've done way more degrading things
and packed his underwear and his protein-covered blankets.
Yes.
So why wouldn't he have done this unless he was being sneaky?
It is very much like seeing it through, like, the eyes of someone who was like a servant.
And it's like, well, then why now, why would that be the exception?
tune in to the six-part podcast
uncovering unzu
oh my gosh
well what about y'all's obsession
with freaking titles
oh what about
the high council
extremely
touchy about asking for titles
yeah that was like a big
big monologue for me
about getting your promotions
yeah what's up I thought everything was working out
for B6
I thought it was my big coronation
I thought this was my moment.
And then Albright was like,
you went too far, I'm taking everything
away.
Vacations can't go.
It didn't take everything away, but
like, I want to be clear,
it went from like, dang it.
To like, wait, hold on.
I've been outsmarted again.
Huge speech about earning your place
in your job.
It does, it makes, again,
our characters might be of a mood
of like, wait, hold on,
But again, if you are my father's daughter,
if you are my great, great, great, great grandkid,
and there are things that have been passed down,
something that Barignis, the OG, struggled against
was putting her own ambition and her own selfishness,
like above other people.
Like, yeah, it sucks that she lived in a society
where there were certain roles expected of her,
but she still did that and she still owes something
to the people who she played that role for.
So it is a good lesson to learn about not being selfish
and you don't get to just ask for things.
But also in that moment, it's very much like,
okay, but she's kind of been doing the job for a while.
We look at it, we look at it as like,
look, I know y'all are seeing it as though this is like
she had one moment, but she has been working at this
for a really long time.
Yeah, my thought is that Brignis is ambitious.
It goes with the super type A, the organized,
just the dwarf lifestyle, if you will.
And the fear maybe comes about,
we haven't seen B5 and B4 around,
and I think that they died in battle.

Ooh.
And so there's that.
I loved, I just want to props to you both.
Like, I love that scene between the two Berygnius's.
And I felt bad because I felt like I was a little bit blowing up your spot as Tippy.
No, it had to happen.
Because if it wasn't, it was going to need to happen sometime before we left.
Yeah, I just felt like it.
You know, like, Tippy being in a really good job, like bringing it up.
I was like, oh, yeah, wait, yeah, we have to do this.
We got to do this.
Yeah, that 100% was like, necessary.
So he's going to think of that like, wow, you, you seem real lame right now
talking in front of your ancestors like that.
Yes.
You knew we were saying, dang it in front of.
It's literally like, do you know who she is?
All circumstances, no pomp.
But it was a great speech about, like, you don't have to, like, fill my shoes.
You like, you don't have to be in my shadow.
Yeah, she needed to hear that.
Yeah, I thought it was nice.
I thought it was nice.
Because all her life, well, part of the thing is that she has kind of said, downplayed her fame
because everybody in the whole Delve is all about berignias and is always like,
this is what you're supposed to live up to.
And she didn't want to until she actually met you and you said, you know what, you don't have to?
And then it was like, well, now I kind of want to.
Yeah, yeah.
Now that I know I don't have to, I actually do, this is what I really want.
If it's my choice.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's gonna be freeing.
Yeah, to be able to like explore the possibility
when it's not something where it's like forced down your throat.
And I love the contrast that creates where you like B6 is dealing with sort of like the crushing weight of history bearing down upon her.
But then there's also Tippy who is like humblest of humble origins,
just this like little wretch from a faraway dungeon.
For sure.
Who is this important part of a potentially world ending prophecy?
Yeah.
It's your throat, goat.
I got snatched.
I got snatched for my throat.
Yeah, you are, what's going on here?
Slopi Tippy.
I did not ask for this.
Oh, oh.
What did you say?
I missed it.
I always miss it.
You look, turn your life.
No, you turn your head to Tannett.
Because I try to stay it under my breath.
This is like the 40th time, Daniel.
Well, go ahead and say it out loud.
I said sloppy tippy.
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
Sloppy tippy.
Oh boy.
See?
And it wasn't.
Yeah, you're right.
I didn't need to hear that.
I tried, we'll keep it in.
I, yeah, the scrying on Eun-Zug didn't go there,
and I'm very, yeah, that was never gonna.
Tipy throat, go, tear, squires.
Okay, we'll see if this is in there.
Yeah, okay, cut.
Okay, well, we left things on definitely a really shocking note.
We don't know what the future holds.
There's limited time remaining for all of our heroes,
our allies, our villains.
It feels like everything is coming to a head.
And I for one, can't wait to see what happens
