So, last time we left off, Vox Machina, in their attempts to gain power through artifacts called the vestiges of divergence, to eventually destroy the Chroma Conclave, Great Evil Dragons, that came together to terrorize the Tadolay countryside. They were seeking one in the city of Marquette, the city of Ankara.
Starting point is 00:03:16 After traveling there and meeting with members of the various establishments, the new culture they were introduced to, a... drug deal gone awry, sometime in a casino, some hookah excursions, and some terrible alcohol purchases. They found themselves finding an ally in the current head, and for the past 400 years, head of the city of Ankarel, known Jamansha Ord. They gave the party their allegiance in this endeavor against the conclave and presented them with a brass flute that and apparently can at least notify that the aid is required. After which the party spent the evening in their tavern after the casino incident and then went searching for this individual, this mistress Asharu, who apparently has the Kabal's ruin, this next vestige in your journey. Upon checking in her house,
Starting point is 00:04:18 after having the response for a couple days, you broke inside to find that the home had been attacked as of a week ago, her body left behind, apparently riddled with puncture wounds, seemingly bullet holes, after your inspection, Percy, and Kabbal's ruin, the cloak that you were seeking, is gone. And that is where we left off. So, diving back in, you've just had the information sync to you that Mistress Shah has been destroyed. Kabal's ruin is gone. You went and checked out the small back exit that just led to one of the other streets in the city, just essentially another way out of the house. That's all the information you have right now,
Starting point is 00:05:04 and you're all just trying to wrap your head around what just happened and what the next steps are. What do you want to do? We're still in the house? You're still in the house, yes. I'm a little nervous that the trap that went off on the front door was like an alarm system for whoever left. It might be.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Or it could have been... Yeah. It could have been Clokey's alarm system that means that whoever killed Clokey got in through not the front door. Yeah, but we saw a trail of blood leading to the front door. That was her trying to get out after she was stabbed to death, right? No? No, that was the, I think it was the blood from...
Starting point is 00:05:49 Yeah. Otherwise, she walked back in her each individual footsteps and then lay down and down. That is better detective work than mine. Yes. Which is popping. I think, I mean, I think that it was... But how'd they get out without... So whoever the murderer is, set the trap as he, she was leaving.
Starting point is 00:06:09 The murderer who's shooting bullets. Is there anything gained to, by discussing this here, do we need to look any further? Should we get the hell out? One last click, quick glance around the room to see if there's anything helpful. Percy, can I see your gun? I hand it to her without even things. without even thinking about it.
Starting point is 00:06:31 You're a genius. Make an investigation check. I'm so bad at these. What are you trying to find? I want to see if there's like a gem or device on it, like a tracking device. Sure, go for it. I'd be very impressed if there was.
Starting point is 00:06:48 He has ripped his old gun. Oh shit! 20. 20. Oh yeah. He inspect the gun and the gun actually kind of like, almost like a purled handle and a weapon has white stone inlay and certain portions of the actual weapon contain pockets of a whitechew
Starting point is 00:07:01 white stone upon getting close to it and really having a, and you're kind of perturbed as she begins to inspect closely and you see her face open up with a reaction. It's probably been a while since you've missed a detail that Keyleth picked up on. Oh, fuck now. On your own item. There is a very, very faint magical aura on the piece of white stone that's underneath the main set of barrels in the front. and there is the carb signature of Ripley across the bottom does give off her faint magical order.
Starting point is 00:07:39 She's been fucking tracking us. What are you looking at there, Keel? Oh no. I think Percy was right. I think she has been spying on us. Well, Scatlin. Oh my God. I hate magic so much.
Starting point is 00:07:52 Throw in the assy. Better give me the gun. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I can use this. if it's... Can you reverse look up on the telephone line? Yeah, I can scry through it. Does it help
Starting point is 00:08:08 you can scry? And she was very attached to it, which means it should work pretty well. In theory, you can scry on anybody that you've met as well, just as long as you know about them. I've also met her, so that helps. Does the object... I would give that, like, a bonus
Starting point is 00:08:24 to the actual role. Wait, I agree with what Vax is going to say, we should move. Yeah, if anyone wants to roll this place, do it, Let's get out of here. I'm going to take a quick look around just quickly quickly. Investigation, or it doesn't matter, that was a terrible roll. What are you looking for? Clues, objects, I'm basically doing the standard police tumble.
Starting point is 00:08:44 I'm just tossing the place. Would you roll? I rolled a nine. You angrily begin throwing things around the room in a fit, but you're so unfocused in your search. It's less about the actual search and more about the frustration that this bypassed your attention for so long. And you guys watch us Percy just begins to, like,
Starting point is 00:09:04 throw the bed to the side and, like, go through and start shoving stuff off of counters, and he's not really looking for anything. He's just trying to just deal with his pent-up frustration. Percy. We should go. This isn't helping anything. Yes, yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Better to do that in here than outside. Secret passage? Yeah, it's this way. Secret passage. I think I checked for traps last. Because you already went up to the top. Yeah, I went all the way at the top and peaked around. Yeah. There are no traps and you managed to make it through at least below the small.
Starting point is 00:09:38 How to look around, does it look pretty, is it public or off to the side? It's like a small alley that leads into an open public space. So, you know, as long as you listen out for anybody in the vicinity, you can... I'm going to scurry up and just open up and get out there. Okay, make perception check. Yeah. It's 20, no, 22 probably probably. 22. Okay, you go up and come, there's like these small handholds as you go up to the top and there's a little bit of a great that's push there. You kind of push it open and boom, the metal circle just pops on the side. You find that there's actually a piece of thin cloth that's covering it as you push it over and you listen up for a second. You hear the bustle on the outside of the city, but you do not notice anyone paying attention to it and you use the right moment to go ahead and dart up and you begin kind of taking the watch for the rest of the party.
Starting point is 00:10:29 And I'm off to the side, like Marion and Raiders. This is just like the side, probably. Yeah. Not a worry. Before I leave the room, can I just check to see if it seems like Ripley was alone, or if there were other people attacking it? Let me get survival check. Natural 20.
Starting point is 00:10:46 What the hell? While you guys are all having this conversation, Vex is occasionally chiming in this whole time, but is also keeping a very close eye on her own mental layout of how the actual scuffle happened, looking for signs of impact, to actually follow the footprints where some of smeared in the blood and tracked it up. There are varying foot sizes in some of the tracks you could see, both pressed in the dust.
Starting point is 00:11:08 And there was a layer of dust down here within certain areas because portions of the room are not often trekked. In fact, you see, just from the general dust that's settled, it's a track from the bed to a couple of the shelves, to the table, and the exit. And you get the idea that Mistress Sharu, being as trained as she was, was very... she had a pattern, and outside of that pattern that she walked, there was a pretty heavy layer of dust that eventually gathered in those areas of the room, and those areas had been disturbed in some ways. And you gather based on the footprints that are there, there were at least five or six people in the room when this went down. Got that terminated overlay. All right. Grog, can I have some of that dust of tracelessness? Well, you're gonna mix it with some spice and get high?
Starting point is 00:11:57 Definitely. Yep, there you go. Can I just sprinkle that around so that they can't track us in the room? Yeah. Having been here. And as you throw around the dust, all the tracks, everything that gave a sign of the previous invaders vanishes slowly as the dust begins to cover the entirety of the floor, and as you guys leave the same, it looks weirdly undisturbed other than the body lying there with now no actual ability to track how it got there. That's tampering with evidence. That's a definite felony.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Definitely. Not as bad of a felony as shoving spice up your ass, but. I don't know what you're talking about. That was a scientific experiment. And it was fucking awesome. Are we getting out of here? Are we going to get out of here? Yeah, gotta get out of here. Okay. You all eventually make your way to the end of the secret tunnel. Vax leads you up at times where it's least likely
Starting point is 00:12:51 to be noticed in the alleyway, and eventually will all make yourselves up into the top, close off the entrance, and then are kind of hiding off, and then carefully, nonchalantly make your way back into the main thoroughfare out here. And it isn't like a large street. It's one of the, you know, secondary side streets. Occasionally you have a person that comes by with a large cart or a couple of people walking, you know, arm and arm. But no one seems to pay any attention or notice your alleyway entry, and you have successfully obscured yourself within the rest of the denizens of Aunt Correll. Can you find her without her knowing? I mean, all magic has a risk factor, depending on...
Starting point is 00:13:26 We have to look, otherwise we have no leads at all. Let's head back to the debt's respite. And get ready to leave, because we can't hang around once you... And talk to her employer so they know it wasn't us. Wait, wait, should we not scry from a different place than the place we're staying at? It's the place that she knows we are already. Drew. She knows exactly where we're standing anyway.
Starting point is 00:13:46 We're holding the bloody gun. And when we do, we should set like a little ambush in case it sets off any alarms. Can she hear us when you scribe? Can you hear? Yeah, yeah, you can. I mean, she could possibly hear us right now. Yeah. It's like looking through a little window.
Starting point is 00:14:05 No, yeah, so if we're talking about her right now, she can hear. I don't know how this runic magic works on his gun. You're not sure what the actual enchantment is, and it's subtle. This is something different than what I would be doing. Yeah, I grab Keelis hand and pull the gun over and say, but for now, we assume,
Starting point is 00:14:23 that she can hear everything that we are saying. Ripley's a piece of shit. You're ugly. You're Percival's going to fucking murder you. You're not that ugly. She just meant that to hurt your feelings. Heel, don't soften the blow. She's a piece of shit.
Starting point is 00:14:37 But you are a piece of shit. That's done. It's the wire. It's a terrible. Omar's challenge rating 30. Back to the tavern. Was Ripley a magic user? Did she ever engage in magic?
Starting point is 00:14:56 Not that I really was aware, I didn't know her that well. We know that she used some magic. A little bit, yes. She disguised her hand with some allusions. For sure, her whole self. Simple things, nothing of anything complex. She also,
Starting point is 00:15:12 short distance, seemingly teleported or managed to break away from you guys enthrinket to make her escape. Plus, if she's anything like you, she might have paid someone to me. magically upgraded for her. She is like me. Fucking rest your step. She's also potentially listening to us right now.
Starting point is 00:15:30 I mean, time is of the essence. Let's head back to the double time it. Okay, you guys make your way back to the Des Respite. You head back up to your rooms and you have your relative private space to go ahead and discuss the next portion of your plan. We leave the gun outside the room. I, we have, do we have more than one room, right? Yeah, we have three rooms. Can we leave the gun with Trinket and the other room?
Starting point is 00:15:52 I don't know if he's a qualified to handle firearms. It's precisely why I want to leave the kind of Trinket in the other one. He'll sit on it. Is there a safety? No, it's not loaded, it doesn't. Okay. I was put it in the bag of holding. I mean, Percival, be sure there's nothing in the gun, please. It's so complex to make it work, it's fine.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Trinket shoots himself in the ass. That would be very funny, but that. He won't. What do you want to do with it now? What's the plan? We're going to leave it with Trinket in the other room for the most. I'll drink it in the other room for the moment. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:24 And we're going to discuss things, and I'm leaving it under the bed with a bear in the room. Okay. Sit on the bed. Someone comes. If anybody walks in the room that's not one of us, well, make them very scared and make sure they leave.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Shoot them with the gun. Shoot them with the gun. Licks side of your face and then gets back in this kind of restful period with just like at the front of his paws and his head leaning over the edge of the bed and the bed itself is kind of bowing under his way. Don't you fall asleep.
Starting point is 00:16:50 Hmm. All right, so you guys head to one of the other rooms then? Yes. Okay. Just close the door behind you. Should I keep watch outside? Yeah, that's a good idea. I'll stand watch outside.
Starting point is 00:17:09 And you do, Grog. This hallway is yours. Don't you fall asleep, Grog? A lot. All right. I think we need to tell her employer that we are not responsible, as that we were the last people to attempt to employ her. Suspicion automatically falls upon us, and we need to let them know immediately that it was not us. All right. Should we scry now, though? I have to study and then sleep on it, because that's how my process works. I learned. Fucking math. My process.
Starting point is 00:17:56 Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Oh my God. I have that thing you gave me. The ball, yeah, that I gave you. You have one ball? You have been holding out on us.
Starting point is 00:18:05 I don't. Just the one ball, though. I have a secret. It's not necessarily a bad thing. Double price. Anything is workable. Oh, God. Stupid.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Bless you. Um, what is it? What is it like I have? I have a ball of seeing. A ball of scrying. You have the- Scrying eye. I have the scrying eye.
Starting point is 00:18:32 There was a night of crack. You want to have the item card for the... I gave it to it. I have it. Oh, you do. All right. So yeah, it allows you to basically do the equivalent of a scry spell.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Once a day. Yeah. All right. Do we want to do this here? I think just as soon as possible. I think the question is do we tell them and see if we can enlist some help with it? Now? Do we do that we know? I mean, this is gonna take me 10 minutes.
Starting point is 00:18:58 This is gonna take me a second. If we find out where she is, if she's still in the city, we can maybe hunt her down and track her down today. Do we get any help before we do that, though, from her. We'll talk to, um, treat. You guys figure it out. I'm gonna start scrying. Figuring where they are, and where she's going and what she's doing and who she's with. How many of them?
Starting point is 00:19:17 All these things. I'm sorry. Percy. Scry. We'll find her. That's what I'm worried of. about. All right, so without the gun, you don't get the bonus for the item focus. Oh, fuck. But you also have the gun not in your presence. Do we want to have the gun for this? You can go in the, yeah. Actually, yeah, I'll do that. I'm gonna go in the other room, grab the gun and scry. Okay, you enter the
Starting point is 00:19:38 end to the room. I'm gonna go sit with you while you scry. Okay. You enter the room and as you walk towards the bed, Trinket growls at you. Trinket. I have it. I have another option. I have another option. I'm not a stranger. We still have her notes. We still have her notes. Does anything help? I mean, an object to of which has, you know, some pretty close contact with the individual could help, yeah. Sure, whatever. It is her diary notes of how to build my gun.
Starting point is 00:20:02 Yeah. You can use that instead if you want. So we're not in the room with Trinket. Can I use both? They would not overlap. Oh. Trinquet, you just keep doing your thing. All right, let's go right, yeah, the room again. I don't know, what do you think would be better?
Starting point is 00:20:19 Her notes or her notes? Let's her notes, let's be safe. Okay, I'm going to use her notes. Yeah, very safe. Okay, that will add five to the DC modifiers. What's the DC of the spell? My spell save DC is 19. All right, so now it's 24 for her to try and resist this
Starting point is 00:20:36 as I throw my D20 into oblivion. Ripley's mad. Fuck that dice it, and you need a scrying me. Do you want when I have a bag? You know, I got, I'll just use this. I'll use the big one that, uh. Okay. Chris Perkins gave me.
Starting point is 00:20:49 And thus ends Voxmo. Oh no. I'll use the one Perkins gave you. The Empower. All right then. This is now Ripley's wisdom saving through. Okay. Thank you. Interesting, interesting.
Starting point is 00:21:06 Does that dice go to dice trail? No. No, but it works. As you sit down and focus, you take the small object in your hand and concentrate with the notes in front of you, and you find that thread of connection between your memory of Ripley as fuzzy in some places is, you know, fuzzy in some places as it is. You have a very clear image of the moments you guys met in White Stone. The notes, you connect those threads, focus on the object, and then you guys watch those Keelot's eyes dart open, once again, clouded over in white.
Starting point is 00:21:37 Your vision pierces above. You can see your consciousness thrust through the clouds and just white clouds passing by, passing by, and then your vision comes back down through the clouds, only instead of the desert, instead of the mountains, instead of anything in the nearby area, it's just ocean. Just ocean. She's fucking finding another one. Waves, sea, endless around you. Oh, no. You emerge once more, your vision moving before,
Starting point is 00:22:03 only now there's a torrential rain surrounding you, lightning, thunder, clapping. You are in the center of a very, very heavy storm that is tearing across this ocean expanse. A boat creaks. Ropes swing, and you hear voices yell. A crew barely holding it together. Standing on the deck, hooded.
Starting point is 00:22:22 You see, Ripley, calm and looking out into the horizon. She smiles from beneath her dark leather cloak, a shimmer of blue energy dimly crackling across its inner lining. A voice yells, Nothing yet! And her eyes dart up to the crow's nest, then back down to her weapon. A handheld firearm of slate design, but familiar function, six barrels. Oh snap. Lightning flashes once more in the distance, followed by a very, very nearby crack of thunder. The boat, this for a sound. For a
Starting point is 00:22:53 as a wave passes under and it catches itself again. She runs to the deck to look out across the crashing waves. And the vision fails when you came back. That was magical. That was hard. Is there any ocean in town? Bitch! She is a, I grabbed the gun.
Starting point is 00:23:12 You are a piece of shit! I thought the gun was under the bed with three things. You literally just grubbed, I'm like, grab my hand and are yelling at him. I'm sorry, it's still a little fuzzy when I come out of it. Just make gun finger. at least. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:25 There you go. What's the matter? What did you see? What did you see? She's going up for the other one. She's in the middle of the fucking ocean. So she's gone for the other vestige. Whisper? Is that what's in the ocean?
Starting point is 00:23:37 Whispom's in the ocean? The dagger. Fuck. And she had the cloak. And she knows everything that we know. She's with a group in the middle of the ocean. Could we tell the book there? Can we just instantly be in the middle of the ocean with her?
Starting point is 00:23:55 I can't get us there. There's no trees in the middle of the ocean. She's heading for an island though. Is she? No. I thought it was beneath the waves. The Osmete Sea. Yeah, beneath the Alton Sea.
Starting point is 00:24:09 Scanlon. How did we get there? Can you get us there? I can make us all cows. That is about it. I mean, I can miss us. Mist, we can mist into the ocean. I mean, we'll go faster than.
Starting point is 00:24:21 Whispher. Yeah. And just land on her boat. Whisper, blade forged from metal pulled from the far realm was center to many dark rituals. Now it lies at the bottom of the Osmet Sea, sunken with the lost ship, the Shrew, in a storm 300 years ago, near an island of trees.
Starting point is 00:24:40 No, it's an island of grass. There's no trees on the island. No, it's not even an island of grass. Island of glass. Oh, glass, I can't wait. It's an island of glass trees. A glass trees. An island of grass.
Starting point is 00:24:53 of grass. Get them more. Oh boy. Island of glass. Yeah, which doesn't sound promising to be totally honest. So we might have to mist there. How far away is... It's continents.
Starting point is 00:25:10 It would take weeks. Don't they have an airship here? I don't think we're going to make it. Wait, and the water ashari are in the osmits. They're in the osmits sea, yes. Do I know if they would be close by this island of glass? I'm gonna go ahead and have. have, let's see, let's see.
Starting point is 00:25:27 Scanlan, roll a history check. I know everything about lots of stuff. Why is it always intelligence? Right. 15 history. Oh my god, I rolled a natural one. Oh no. You know it's in the Osmond C, but you've never been there.
Starting point is 00:25:40 You don't know where it is. You don't have no idea what the actual space is there. Wet there. We don't communicate. You, island of glass. And after thinking about it hard, you're like, of course, of course. It's the Isle of Glintshore. Of course.
Starting point is 00:25:54 Yeah, I don't know what the shit battle. It's part of a cluster of islands. You don't know quite where it is, but you know of it. That's about all the information you have on it at the moment. You don't know how far the specific direction, really. Well, it doesn't look like we can just magically get to her. Oh, ooh. Where we can.
Starting point is 00:26:19 Yes, Grog. Aren't you two dweeb's always wanting to like steal an airship? Yes. Don't they have one here? Yes. We're not going to catch up with them. Do I have to see the third thing? Are you going to get there with? Sadly.
Starting point is 00:26:30 I would like to steal that airship, and even then, though, it would take us a week. We need, we are on a schedule. What, road trip, bitches? Come on, we go to work, you know. Okay, let's just game this out. What's the worst case scenario? She has one vestige, she may have two. Two. What's left after that? I mean, we could let her do the hard work for us.
Starting point is 00:26:51 What's left after that? That we know of. That's the cloak that we know of. That we know. She's on top of the dagger almost. The spire of conflicts. Also. In the abyssal plane.
Starting point is 00:27:01 And she can. And the plate of dawn martyr and the elemental plane of fire. I mean, those are gonna be super hard to find for even for her. I know, but if we're in an arms race and she's on top of another, maybe we should head to the next that's out of her reach now.
Starting point is 00:27:15 That makes sense to me. Staff is, well, the staff is in the plane of the abyss. That's a very scary place. We need. Yeah. She only has one now, and if she has two, she might be a bit harder. I know. I know.
Starting point is 00:27:29 I know. One of us was wearing all of the vestiges. But there's also all of us. She has people working for her clearly. And we're awesome. No, but I mean, it won't just be her alone. And we're not going to get there in time to stop her from getting that dagger. We might be able to take them from her and perhaps even finally put her down before she puts more of those bloody things into the world.
Starting point is 00:27:50 Can I also ask another question, Percy? Sure. Why does she want these vestiges in the first place? I have a feeling she doesn't want to fight dragons. She might want to join up with the dragons. Do you know? I don't. I mean, there's many reasons to amass power.
Starting point is 00:28:07 Could she be the one letting the dragons know about, could she be the spy? I spent less than a week in her company in my life. I know very little about her other than, I spent a week in her company. and I spent time. I don't know how much time trying to track her down, and all I learned about her, all I really know is she's very smart and she is the worst person I've ever met. Why would you say that exactly? Because we've met a lot of terrible people.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Kevdak. People don't frighten me. They're dad. He doesn't frighten me. She... Sondor was pretty sheep. Chlorota. Let's not rank the bad people we've met. She's, she's, uh, I don't even know if she wants anything. Wait, wait, wait. Maybe she just wants nothing.
Starting point is 00:29:11 Are you genuinely afraid of her? Yes, very much so. Oh. She is... Fuck, why didn't we kill it when we had her or not... She got away. We tried. I made, I made a terror. I made the wrong trade, and I made a terrible decision.
Starting point is 00:29:33 I know that. Fuck. We have 24. The table on the left is just completely incapable. Sorry. Play her on your right. Terrible. Play on the right. Little mug interference. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:29:52 We have 24. Let me just get this enchantment off my gun. Let's find somebody who can pull it off and put it onto something and leave it here. And then let's run screaming to this island and see if we can catch her. If she's not there, we spend 24 hours where I will recount every desperate attempt
Starting point is 00:30:14 I've made to try and kill her in the last few years of my life, and then we head back and deal with the other monstrosities that are waiting for us back home. I don't know that we'll get there in time. How do we get there? We had to fly across the Osmet Sea to get to Marquette. Take you about a week. week to get to Vasselheim via a sky ship from Ymon. That's normally like a two and a half
Starting point is 00:30:38 week journey by boat. You guys got to Marquette via your transport via plant. No, no, sorry, you got the Marquette via the teleportation circle that- Gilmore made for us. Gellmore made for you guys, yes. Are we by the ocean at all or? But the ocean's above us, right? You have a mountain range that is at the top, the northern part of the desert, probably a day and a half of foot travel to get there in the mountain range, you're not sure how big that is. But from what you know of just loose geography, Scanlan, you probably know this better than anybody, that Enkarel and this part of the desert is not too far from the northern shore of Marquette compares to the rest of it. Like the entire continent
Starting point is 00:31:22 is kind of like a big U. And the rest, this is the Osmit C up here. Marquette's right. This is Marquette, On Corral's right there, and this is the ocean. Can Misty Step travel faster than a boat? An ocean boat? Yes. Probably twice as fast. So if it took her a week to get where she is now, we could probably get there. Three days.
Starting point is 00:31:45 But where do you rest in the boat? Yes, we'd have to rest. Greetings, adventurers. Spring has sprung here in Los Angeles, and that means it's a brief period where it's only 75 degrees instead of 95 degrees. I'll take it. And that means I've been outside a lot more.
Starting point is 00:32:01 Walking around, occasionally galloping after a toddler hopped up on juice boxes, traveling a bit, you know the vibe. And after doing some spring cleaning, my wardrobe, I gotta say, looking a little bit sad. I want clothes that can keep up with me and my son, but updating my wardrobe every spring sounds pretty expensive. So that's why I wound up signing up for Fabletics as a VIP. It let me overhaul my springtime outfits without obliterating my bank account. New VIPs unlock.
Starting point is 00:32:28 major savings on that first purchase, so trying new fits feels way more doable. When I signed up as a new VIP with Fabletics, I got 70 to 80% off everything. It made it easy to grab a few new pieces without overthinking it. And the quality really surprised me. Everything feels premium and soft and breathable, but you're not paying those premium prices. What I like most, though, is how versatile everything is. You've got stuff you can work out in, but also wear out. There's matching sets, lightweight hoodies, joggers, teas, you name it.
Starting point is 00:32:58 The kind of stuff you can throw on in the morning and not worry about later. When I'm at home, my favorite thing to pull on is the oversized hoodie. It's so comfy I could just live in it 24-7. It's perfect for walking my dog on like a chilly night. But when I'm out and about, I've really been loving the ribbed Johnny Collar polo. It makes me look like I should be taking a high-powered meeting by the pool at the White Lotus, but hopefully with less murder involved. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:33:21 It's insanely comfortable. I highly recommend it. So shop now at fabletics.com slash critical role to get to get to, 70 to 80% off everything when you sign up as a new VIP. Starting point is 00:33:50 Greetings, Adventures. Lately, I've been getting a bit more intentional about what I wear from day to day, because instead of just falling out of whatever laundry baskets nearby, I've been leaning into pieces that feel easy and comfortable, but still put together because it just makes getting dressed simpler when I have a plan. Quince has been my go-to to help with that, because the fabrics feel elevated, the fits are clean, and everything just works without me needing to overthink it.
Starting point is 00:34:16 And Quintz has all the wardrobe staples you need for spring. Think 100% European linen shorts and shirts from just $34. They're lightweight, they're breathable, they're cut, comfortable, your legs, and torso will thank you, and he will still look put together. And clean, 100% Pima Cotton Tees with a softness, well, you gotta feel that to believe it, believe you me. Their pants also hit that same balance. They're relaxed, they're comfortable, but still polished enough to wear basically anywhere.
Starting point is 00:34:42 And everything's priced between 50 and 80% less than what you'd find at similar brands. Quince works directly with ethical factories and cuts out the middlemen, so you're getting premium materials without the markup. And since spring is here in Los Angeles, Angeles, a brief period where it's 75 degrees instead of 95 degrees, I spruced up my wardrobe with a pair of the comfort stretch traveler five pocket pants and the heritage washed denim shirt. Not only do they feel great, but I unequivocally look good as hell while wearing them. That's just science.

We drown and die.
Starting point is 00:35:43 We don't necessarily drown immediately. Also, if we can find a way to just teleport to the island, if there's a way that we can... We have one teleportation circle. I mean, I could teleport us. You have a circle to a circle. I can teleport us to the edge of the continent. We could sleep, and then...
Starting point is 00:36:02 Misty step from there? ...that lasts eight hours. The windwalk, you mean? Wind walk, whatever. Missy step's a different spell. Sorry. It's 30 feet. Yeah, that wouldn't do it.
Starting point is 00:36:10 A little different. When walk lasts eight hours. She's on a boat. She's not on a magic boat. She can't just magically get back. back to the shore without sailing there. If we sailed out on an airship or a boat. We could just bomb her.
Starting point is 00:36:32 Well, yes, she's slow moving. She's on a boat. It'll take her days to get wherever she's going. We just need to find her and we can keep scrying on the airship and just catch up to her slowly. She's gonna, she's a slow moving target. Even after she- You're assuming we'll have an airship.
Starting point is 00:36:46 We don't right now, but we will soon. It could take us a while to even get the airship. Nope, one day. Be and Percy. Maybe two hours. I actually agree with that strategy. It is a bit like fish in a barrel because she is limited by her speed.
Starting point is 00:37:03 Will we be able to find her in the middle of the ocean? We can keep scrying from the airship. That's true. We can keep scrying on her. The first thing we have to do is remove this enchantment and I'm very open to our ideas on how to do that. Wait, wait, but just played out, how do we see where she is in comparison
Starting point is 00:37:17 to a giant body of water? Well, we use what sailors do. Look up at the stars. The stars, right? We scry on her at night. We're looking at her, right? Not up. Could we like go like that?
Starting point is 00:37:31 Are either of you gentlemen. Just focused around the target of the scrying. Or either of you gentlemen smart enough to do that? I can't tilt the camera up a little bit. I can, I can. No. The gameplay can, but you'll just say that kind of a blurred skyline.
Starting point is 00:37:44 We can look, we can listen for clues. Maybe the crew members would shout out a, oh, we're at longitude, blah, blah, blah. La. For you, when you scry on something, imagine it like super high depth of field. So like what you're looking at is super in focus and most everything else is very blurred. I like that out of focus. Okay, wait, just to play this out a bit more, we know where she's going.
Starting point is 00:38:06 We know we know where Glint Shore is roughly if we got a local. Well, we can find a local who does, a sailor or something who can help us navigate our way there. Maybe somebody in an airship. We could, but we might just be chasing as long as we're all right with that. We'll just be chasing. We'll keep scrying until we see if she's found it. Until we see a tree. And then we make our decision.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Bax does have a point though. If we're just chasing, we could get the jump on other ones. Here's the terrifying notion. If you see a tree in any of your scrys, can you teleport to it? Yes, I can. So as long as she gets next to a tree. I don't think she's getting next to a tree.
Starting point is 00:38:40 She's in the middle of the ocean. The island of glass. Once she's on the island, if the island has a tree. It's possible. It's possible. It was near the island of glass. She's going to be looking for it, though. That's where I would set up shot.
Starting point is 00:38:53 If I would be a war. I mean, Percival is correct. The first thing we have to do is get that gun unfucked, but then after we have to decide if we are chasing her down and it seems 50-50 to me, not impossible, but not a sure thing at all. Or do we head to the next vestige to keep it out of her hands? Into the plane of abyss?
Starting point is 00:39:08 Well, isn't that where we have to go anyway? No, it's a nine hell. Let's get the gun unfucked and we'll simmer on it. Thank you. Wait, wait, before we get the gun unfucked, is there any use to it being fucked? No. Like, can we have play-acting conversations around it?
Starting point is 00:39:25 Like, oh, this is where we should go next. Hope you're listening. And it's deeply assuming that it actually convey sound, which it may not. We also have, yeah, we have no idea what it actually is. What I'm going to do is I just want to move, yeah, we're going to have to move that enchantment onto something else.
Starting point is 00:39:41 We can go to that place. Back to that asshole. Yeah, back to the asshole. I know what he wants, no. What does he want? He wants Whitesone. Yes, absolutely. So give him white stone.
Starting point is 00:39:50 Absolutely. He's gonna take one really close look at the gun and see a lot of white stone in it. I got two chunks of white stone in the bag of holdy. He wants the green gems and I'm not prepared to make that deal. We can make him a fake one and give it to him for one, for one favor. We can make a fake jam. How hard is that? He's gonna know. I got a bunch of gems in the bag of holding.
Starting point is 00:40:11 Also, it's not, it's not going to work. No offense. What do you have green gems? Gems like lots of gems. No, but the green gems from white stone. Is, is, I don't know. I don't have no idea. Is White Stone is much further away from the Alstim and see them what we are now, right? White Stone is much further away.
Starting point is 00:40:29 Way, way, way. Other side of a continent even, right? Across a vast ocean and then across the continent, yes. One thing that occurred to me that may not help us at all, but Mistress Asharu, the dead girl, she worked for, she was part of an organization? Yes. Maybe they would want to help us because of revenge. Here's the question, and this is what I've been thinking about sitting here for the last few minutes, is either way this is terrible, is either we don't tell them in Leave Town and eventually they find her and she's got strange holes in her from some strange thing
Starting point is 00:41:09 that could possibly be a thing that a man with white hair who breezed through town a week ago was holing. Or we go and fire off a shot. Or we go and tell them. And I cannot believe this is about to come out of my mouth, that it wasn't me. It was a one-armed woman who had a fugitive? An identical, thank you. Weapon of this one-of-a-kind weapon that no one-bloody saw.
Starting point is 00:41:35 I didn't kill my wife. I don't care. Maybe somebody did see her. Maybe somebody did see it. And maybe they'll know where to get the gun on. Even if they did see her, we know she knows how to alter her appearance. Also, no offense, Percy, but I feel like we need to be careful on who you expose that gun to, care on out.
Starting point is 00:41:58 I'm keenly aware. Not only one for people who might think that you're the culprit, but two, for people who are going to want to rip you off again. She's the only person who's ever gotten a good look at it. She's the only one. So other than chasing her, going for the next vestige on the list, the third option is, wish her good luck and just continue on with our mission, ignoring the fact that she exists. Maybe she'll die in the Osmond Sea. She won't. How long has it been since we left Traconia?
Starting point is 00:42:31 Uh... Few days? Five days. Five days. Not five days. I'd say from your travel to, from Chaconia back to White Stone, to resting in White Stone, to heading from there to the sun. the southern city, then traveling from there to Enkarel. Then you've had...
Starting point is 00:42:53 A lot of that was instantaneous. We did camp, we were like three or four days at least. About four or five days, because you traveled then from White Stone to the south of Enkarel, then you windwalked to Enkarell, but then camped outside of Enkarell, because it was the time you got there, it was night, then you made it into the city, then you stayed for the evening, and you slept it again, and the next night you went ahead and went into the casino,
Starting point is 00:43:16 then slept the night there. there, so yeah, it's been about five days. DM. Mm-hmm. Is it like a flying from east to west thing? Will we gain back a day when we go back? No. Not that far.
Starting point is 00:43:28 But we don't have to fly, we just have to teleport there. As long as we teleport, we're fine. But we don't have a plan. We have five days to figure out how to kill a dragon. Oh, Jesus. And we didn't get the vestige we came here for. No, we did not. In fact, it's worse.
Starting point is 00:43:44 Well, it was two weeks with the agreements. You have more than five. Ah. Nine. Nine. You can do anything in nine days. Nine days. We don't even have to keep the agreement.
Starting point is 00:43:54 Come on. Potentially. Just saying. Are we getting the gun unfucked or what? Let's go downstairs and talk to her employer. Treve. Trief? All right.
Starting point is 00:44:11 I'm going to leave the gun upstairs still. Wait, what? Don't we need to talk? Don't we need to, like, have the gun to talk? Well, we got to find out who's going to unfuck it. When we're wearing it on fuck. Is Treve downstairs? All right.
Starting point is 00:44:23 You head down into the tavern, and at this time of day it's a little empty, little sparse, maybe like four patrons that are two in discussions, one that's deep in the cups and one that just seems to be in the midst of going through paperwork. And in the far back you see Treve once again has his heavy spectacles on and is currently looking through that same book he was in before. Doesn't seem to pay any mind to you until you approach him. Treve. Oye, aye.
Starting point is 00:44:50 Good to see you. What can I do for you? We need to talk to you. It's rather urgent. Talk to me. He puts his book away, glasses under things forward. There's been a complication. The mistress is, uh, she's been assassinated.
Starting point is 00:45:13 She's been assassinated. When we hadn't heard anything in these past few days, we decided to pay her a call. He leans forward a little bit on the bar. Bex of Axe-Keeleweth. You do notice that the hooded figure that originally delivered the note is back in the far corner where it was, and it seems to have stepped a couple inches out of the shadows as well, paying very close attention to this conversation. Did we bring the note with us?
Starting point is 00:45:38 Good. So you're saying that the mistress was assassinated, and the clerk stolen? The clerk she wore. And you know this house? We found her body. Where? In her home. In her home?
Starting point is 00:45:59 I think that was a home. In her hideout? In her room beneath the house. Did you know where she lived? Hmm? How'd you know where she lived? We're very clever, but not clever enough to stop this. It appears this happened possibly before we even...
Starting point is 00:46:20 We don't know when it happened. It happened a while ago. I think. First, you make a persuasion check. Oh. Thirteen. It's all. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:39 Drive kind of puts one hand out on the bar. He's got a big heavy coin in it, and he's kind of like nervously tapping it. We think we know who did it. In fact, we're near positive that we know who did it. You hear, as the door of the tavern closes, and all the patrons you saw are now standing up completely sober, and they're all just kind of taken a circle to the outside of your group,
Starting point is 00:47:03 and he's leaning forward going, All right, so, um, so you're clever. You came looking for the mistress. She suddenly winds up dead. You found her body. And we tell you this as opposed to leaving. We had nothing to do with it. We could have left town.
Starting point is 00:47:20 Clearly we know how this looks, which is why we came to you first. The desperate help of finding who did this. What's the hooded figure doing right now? Stoller just kind of sitting in the back of that kind of shattered alcove between a bunch of barrels that are stacked and part of the bar side. I'm gonna keep focus there.
Starting point is 00:47:37 Is he still tapping the coin? No, the coin tapping the stock. And what are the people around us doing? Are they like drawing their weapons? No. Do they seem armed? Do you take a look around? I want to just kind of glance.
Starting point is 00:47:51 I take a very blatant look around. Okay. None of them appear to be armed, but they're all looking very closely upon you. You can make perception check. Kila Fin Grog, if you'd like. Don't fan the obelope. 13.
Starting point is 00:48:09 Oh, not bad. There is a ceiling. And just straight perception, 25. Okay. Yeah, you see them staring. They look pretty, you know, normal. You do notice, and what you didn't quite notice before when you first entered, but a lot of these tables
Starting point is 00:48:26 have like small cubbies on the edges, and each one of them are standing very close to one. One, you see what looks to be a little bit of a pommel, that is barely poking out, and they're just all, like, just at the ready. I kind of want to like... This tavern definitely is, you know, mercenary band uses this tavern as a base of operations, and has definitely seemingly outfitted it to be functionally a good place for mercenaries when they need to be.
Starting point is 00:48:49 I look down in front of me, is there any in the table, like kind of hidden cubsies on the table that we're at? That you're at? Yeah. As you begin, you have to get down to really inspect. Do you want to do that? No. Okay.
Starting point is 00:49:03 At first, the initial glance, you know, don't see anything. Because everything that's close to you is from a top-down perspective, and you're kind of blocked from seeing anything beneath. For what it's worth, we will not draw first. She... We want to find her, have any of your people seen a woman with one metal arm. She is so dangerous, and now so much more dangerous. He goes ahead and puts a finger up this way and kind of marks this direction. The figure that you're watching Vax, steps out from the shadow, and just walks very calmly across the room through all of you,
Starting point is 00:49:48 right to the edge of the bar by the door, he goes, without not breaking eye contact with you, just kind of speaks outside of his mouth. Treve goes, go ahead and check their story. See her abode. We're all going to wait here nice and patiently together until we find out what the fuck is going on. Makes sense. Do you have any mead? He got meed. In the meantime. I would like to at least start to tell you what we need next for when our story is confirmed. Well, you've certainly got a captive audience, so go ahead.
Starting point is 00:50:27 This woman has been tracking us. She placed a mystical tracker upon us at some point in the past. We've just discovered it, and we need to find a way to move it away from us and put it somewhere where she does not suspect that we know that she placed it and does not see us coming when it's time for us to kill her. So you're saying this woman that you're chasing
Starting point is 00:50:56 is the one that killed the mistress. Yes. We believe so. Your mistress has a very, had a very powerful item on her. It's why we sought her out as well. I'm also just kind of blindsided the idea that the mistress was felled by someone. She could take care of herself and has for quite some time.
Starting point is 00:51:14 From what I could see, her attackers were not alone. There were five of them. They had an unfair advantage. Five of them in a woman, you say. These eyes can't know her for a second. Describe this woman. She disguises her appearance,
Starting point is 00:51:30 so how we know her might not be how you have seen her if you have indeed. She has sometimes been shown herself as an old woman. Yes. Old woman. And he starts describing these like sort of a spinny gray blonde hair, tumble
Starting point is 00:51:46 past the shoulders, kind of piercing, loose green eyes. Always piercing eyes. Did she come through here? She was the last one to hire the mistress. About a week before you came. What was the job? I don't know. And she had some fellows traveling with her?
Starting point is 00:52:06 She had five individuals following her eye. What did they look like? Didn't get best of good luck. He kept it very hush-hashed between me and the lady at the table. The rest of them just stayed at the back of the bottom. They went on their business. Where were they staying? Here.
Starting point is 00:52:21 In our rooms. Aye. That gives me the hebi-jeebies. That does not make me feel good. She is so dangerous. How was she a full week ahead of us? Oh, shit. How does she?
Starting point is 00:52:36 Tree. Because we went to Traconia. I put dust of tracelessness on the ground in her home. What's that mean? It's going to... going to obfuscates any of these scuffle. They're only going to find a body with holes in it. So you're telling me, you came in here with a story about a murder of one of my finest Merks. Yes.
Starting point is 00:53:00 And you decided upon finding this murder to get rid of all the evidence of said murder and anything that could possibly point to you not be in the murderers. I did point this out to everybody before we came down here, but, and again, at the moment, we were a little bit thrown by the... I'm not going to lie, I mean, as far as... Why would we come directly to you if that were the case? Why would we have not just left? Plus, you know what?
Starting point is 00:53:26 They will be able to tell that body is at least a week cold. Exactly, your man has seen that dead body before. He's been able to tell it's been there for a while. I'm sure you have a cleric in the circle. Talk to her first hand if you have to. I'm curious if you can imagine a reason why we would come to you with this rather than sneak away in the night. Yeah, I'm just curious how much the meat is.
Starting point is 00:53:46 On the house. And he pulls under the bar and reaches around for a second, and pulls up one kind of thick, kind of dark, like red ceramic bottle, caps already off. He's like plucked off with this thumb and she sets it in front of you. Oh, thanks. I'm so sorry. I guess it's possibly one of the
Starting point is 00:54:13 major setbacks this long. in business is very few grow told and gray and get to die happy in their beds. God knows, I wasn't planning to. There's kind of an long, awkward, you know, pause interspersed with bits of conversation for about 15 minutes before the hooded figure returns, enters the door, comes over, whispers for a good
Starting point is 00:54:44 solemn men in the ear of tree before stepping up a door forward, stepping back and very calmly walking back to its little corner. Treeves sits up. But parts of your story certainly hold up. The body has been there for a while, at least from before I saw you. Mind you, don't know when you came into the town, really, we only met a few days ago. If we were smart enough to take care of her and smart enough to pull all of this off, this would be a ridiculous move. We would come to hire after we already kill her. I would beg you to explain while we're having this conversation.
Starting point is 00:55:22 Believe me, a lot of you just doesn't make sense, period. So I'm just trying to figure it all out. He kind of like, kind of rubs the end of his long draconian snout. The woman in question helped murder my entire family. To great pleasure and delight in it, I have been tracking her for years. What's your plan to do when you find her then? Kill her. That's all. I've lost my taste or anything beyond that, but she is dangerous and she is evil.
Starting point is 00:55:52 In this moment, everyone in this room wants the same thing. We didn't come to you because we necessarily needed to go through the proper channels. We did it because we were trying to be forthcoming. Clearly, you are all a talented bunch. So are we. My feelings for her have become very complex. I don't care who kills her at this point. She just needs to be removed from the earth. Which one is you used your deal maker? Well, I'd boot Scanlon forward.
Starting point is 00:56:26 on the tush. Hello. Hi. This one. I make the best deals. I know the best words. We're not really good at this in general. This one.
Starting point is 00:56:39 Sometimes it's Bex, but many times it's me. He kind of leans over the bar and gets real close up to you and kind of takes moment to kind of... You smell like trouble. Make a persuasion check. What am I persuading him to do? This is your essence of presence in telling him that you're the kind of person. Oh. My general charm.
Starting point is 00:57:04 Your general charm. I don't know what he's wearing, but it's very nice. Mm-hmm. Persuasion, you say? Persewis. ...29. Yeah, exactly. How's this for a deal?
Starting point is 00:57:16 I've got a nice fine look at your faces. I've got friends all across these lands. If what you say is true, you go. We let you leave. You find this. This murdering bitch, you kill her. I want one thing, or good hand. I think that would be vengeance enough for the mistress.
Starting point is 00:57:42 I mean, we don't have any use for it. I feel very good about that deal. Yeah. Good terms. Wait. Not talking to you. Talking to you. That's lovely, but we can't find her without some assistance.
Starting point is 00:57:55 Well, you've come to the right place. What assistance do I have to give you? What you need? We need to get this curse off of the thing that found your assassin. Assassin. Can't really help you with that. Sorry, mate. You don't have any magic wielders among you? We've got scattered Merks throughout the city eye, but they work for coin. And half of them are busy and other jobs.
Starting point is 00:58:16 We have coin. What do we got? Enough. Let us know what it takes. Money is money, and we have a long way to go and a lot to deal with, but we are happy to pay for the work that is done. All right. I can call someone in. someone in. We also may need some naval assistance. Specifically in a ship of sorts. Or transportation. She's heading, she's on a boat, she's heading north to the island of Glenshaw. Glenshaw.
Starting point is 00:58:50 Glenshaw. Glenshaw. Or, you know, even if you just know of any trees, big trees. He goes, well, ships, no. Not much in the way a ship's here in the middle of a desert. They're only looking forward to them skybuckers. Looking for a ship like that for seafar types. you're gonna want to go past the agrid mountains and make your way towards the Bay of Gifts Bay of Gifts that's where you find the port town of Shamal the port town of Shamal Shamil shamel that's mountain range is vast in itself if you're looking at at least a week on foot to try and traverse those mountains did you say Bay of Gifts uh Bay of Jiffs it's pronounced yes you will have fucking
Starting point is 00:59:38 It's a local joke. I'm so sorry. Oh, God. That's... The port of Chamol. There is a Skyport near here. Is that true? Over by the... Controlled by the local government? I don't know if I can control is the Skyport.
Starting point is 00:59:59 If we're not asking you, we have other friends as well. Hmm. But if you're looking for speed, it's probably your best bet. Ships on this ocean. Well, let's say the weather's not usually handy. We are looking for speed and a crazy captain. Oh. Wish you the best to look.
Starting point is 01:00:17 Go. Killer. Give me your hand. I'll figure if time goes by and I haven't heard from you. You've either died, or I'll be sending some of our Merks to come find you. Yeah, but the magic thing from the gun... Yes. How long would it take to get this person who can remove a curse? Or if you were going to go do something like this, who would you find in town? find in town. If you're looking for fast, speedy and immediate assistance with this, well,
Starting point is 01:00:44 that's going to have to run the cost up a bit, see. I know. We have quite an enchanter. They could probably help you with that. Oh, really? Oh. It was about, uh, see, in the next hour, I could bring him in. But it'll run you full disillusion or whatever you need. 750, you'll. Not full disillusion. How about a transference? To move the enchantment to another object. Oh, it takes...
Starting point is 01:01:14 It's a much easier enchantment. Moving something takes a little bit longer than it just get rid of something. How much longer? I don't know. Not one of them types. But I mean, we've had a couple of enchantments moved in the past, now as I knew it from a few days to a few weeks to get out done. Why don't we call them in and have them look at it?
Starting point is 01:01:34 7.50? Do we have that to spare? Yes. That's worth its weight. 7.50. 75. Or if you have a need of gems, we have gems. You don't get fast and cheap. I know. Are you a gem lover? I can carry a bit of jewelry on occasion.
Starting point is 01:01:55 I like you. What do we have? So many things you should call your enchanter. He goes ahead and pulls out a small tome of blank sheets, many you see have been torn out and it kind of makes quick note on one. Just rolls it up very simply. He doesn't do the usual rigmarole of an official writ, but hands it to the mass-toded figure in the corner who walks out and darts off. Kain will be here in an hour. An hour.
Starting point is 01:02:30 Kine? Kine. Kime. Kain. Sorry, that rang about. Sorry. All right. Kain't.
Starting point is 01:02:40 Payment. Up front, wow. Well, but we don't even know what he's doing yet. Do you trust in my service? Of course. I just don't know what we're gonna have him do, that's all. I'd be much rather where you just go in clean out your guts here in the floor. How about
Starting point is 01:03:00 these two escalated, terribly? Beautiful. Very quickly. Wait, she's negotiating. Sapphires. They're quite lovely. All right. And, and I pull out a giant raw ruby as well.
Starting point is 01:03:18 He knocks the countertop, kind of gesture his feet to put them down. He looks over one of the guys in the bar, and when they've all kind of relaxed a bit now, two of them have sat down. One of them approaches, appears to be human, a little scruffy. It looks like he's a little ill, to be honest. He's probably just not had a good week. Food. he ever walks up and comes up and
Starting point is 01:03:46 he almost through a small pouchman pulls out a small jeweler's eye piece and takes him up and inspects each of him independently. How much are they worth? 200 each for the sapphires and the ruby is 150. Jesus, Laura.
Starting point is 01:04:05 It's only 100 gold short. It's only 100 gold short. I take it. The war is over and both sides lost. Kingdoms were reduced to cinders an armies scattered like bones in the dust. Now the survivors claw to what's left of a broken world,
Starting point is 01:04:28 praying the darkness chooses someone else tonight. But in the shadow dark, the darkness always wins. This is old school adventuring at its most cruel. Your torch ticks down in real time, and when that flame dies, something else rises to finish the job. This is a brutal rules-light nightmare with a story that emerges organically, based on the decisions that the characters make.

Starting point is 01:05:21 Well, that's the idea behind my podcast. podcast, something you should know. Every episode starts with a question you've probably never thought to ask, like why people do or don't like you, why certain habits stick, or what everyday advice is actually wrong. I'm Mike Carruthers, and I talk with scientists, authors, and experts, and I keep it practical, surprising, and fun to listen to. If you've got a curious brain, come try one episode of something you should know on the podcast app you're listening to right now. I will. Did his pay? Takes the gems, hops in his little side pouch.
Starting point is 01:05:59 Do you guys wait for the hour? I was going to say, if two people want to start booking passage on a, or somebody wants to go start booking passage on an airship, my personal feeling is grog and Scanlan would be the people to send on such an adventure. I mean, yes, grog would be good at that. Yes, let's do that. I was, I'm only saying grog because then they know what they're getting into. I like that idea. Are you trying to get me out of the room?
Starting point is 01:06:24 No. Well, yes. Would you rather sit for an hour in here? Would you rather go outside and talk to somebody about a giant flying boat? The last one? Perfect. It's like Hannibal and Mr. T. together. That's what you want. I don't know. That's my opinion, personally, unless anybody else. Just call me Baruchis. Let's go.
Starting point is 01:06:45 All right, we'll go. Our friends are going to arrange travel for us. The rest of us are going to stay here. Is that appropriate? Certainly. Let me. Sit. Let's eat some food. So it's going to be just easy? I guess we're going to go try to find an airship.
Starting point is 01:07:02 Yeah, twins. Like the ends of the table really need that. Schwarzenegg and Devito, add it again. Julius, my God. Which one's which? Vincent, Vincent, you are my twins. Twilies. I'm Greglith, Vincent.
Starting point is 01:07:17 Oh, Ron Cobb. I always thought it was the same guy. I thought it was the same guy in my head. It's a sequel. All right, so the rest of you guys stay behind. You get a fair meal. The two of you begin making your way through Enkarel. Let's see here. I hope you're having your way over towards the edge of the Sunka Pazar, towards the San Herald District. Right on that cusp there is where you saw the skyport
Starting point is 01:07:46 in the distance. Go ahead and make an investigation check. Make one as well dropped. Yeah. 25. 17. All right. Where normally it would be confusing to find where the base of it is, is it is kind of obfuscated by a series of other larger buildings.
Starting point is 01:08:05 You guys ask a couple of folks rather quickly that seem to know the layout of the town really well, and with just enough of a flash of a smile and a really intense arm muscle, you, within the next 30 minutes or so, find out of the time. yourself at the base of the actual skyport. It is called the Indala Skyport. Indala. And not as tall as the one in Iman, which is placed in the outskirts of the Cloudtop district. It's a good time. But it appears to be on level. It's maybe like a good five stories up. The outside of it is a similar chain-lifted platform as the Tower and the Chulian Palace you guys traversed earlier in your time in Ankorel.
Starting point is 01:08:50 And it appears to be a large stone scaffold with no walls just sitting there on the ground. As you approach, there are two people dressed in simple clothing. You see some dust and general dirt on their hands are in the midst of moving crates up and down. And you see they're moving some barrels off of the platform, putting them up into a cart that's going to be probably a wheeled, well different in the city. As you approach the platform, you see one of them is essentially by what looks to be a sort of a bell mechanism, like a, like a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a. attached to the part of the platform a small block that's about shoulder high and there's a bell on the end of it with a ringer. Wait, before we ring, Indala. Do, have you ever rented a sky ship before?
Starting point is 01:09:33 No, I have no idea what we're doing here. Oh, really? I mean, I assume we're trying to find out how much it costs and who, and how, for a seven-day rental, including a pilot or two. So we're doing this like the straight and narrow way, right? Well, getting the information, probably come back and steal. deal. Ooh, okay. I'll be quiet.
Starting point is 01:09:52 You talk. Okay, well, yeah. You're pretty good at this too. Yeah, well. I feel so good. Help, help. Help, help. It's happening.
Starting point is 01:10:00 Help, help. It's actually happening. Do you mind if I ring the bell? Yeah, go for it. Can I ring the fucking shit out of that bell? As you step up onto the stone platform, both of you, the two guys that are working, the guy keeps putting the barrel. It's like two or three on the side there, and he goes, and he goes, and he goes, and he head and sets one of the three up just staring at you as you approach. The other guy is kind of, the side goes,
Starting point is 01:10:25 um, can I help you? As you walk past and just turn back and smile and D-D-L-L-L-L-L-L-I just start bringing the crap out of it. Um, strength check. Oh, no. Oh, that's not too bad. Uh, 13. Oh. 13. Okay. You, you have enough control over your physical brawn as to not snap. or destroy the bell. However, what happens is after you ring the bell for a second, the guy goes, wait, no, you're not, no, no. And before, the thing else happens, the chains that were kind of slack, tighten up in a platform, begins to lift up.
Starting point is 01:11:04 The guy who had two barrels left on the platform, still was like, no, wait, wait, wait, wait, and goes over and tries to, like, grab one of the barrels as it kind of tumbles off and breaks in the ground next. And he's like, Brits a buddy, kids. Just like, raising his fist. We're on an elevator? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:21 It's about 15, 20 feet off the ground, and it's going up the top. The bell is to have notified whatever crew is bringing the platform up, but he didn't get a chance to finish bringing his load off the platform before you're running the bell. I think we're doing it right. I think so. So you leave the two gentlemen below as the two of you've lifted up on this platform. You make your way up to the elevated terrace that marks the actual skyport. It's a large, wide, thick platform that has, it's built atop what looks to be a series of warehouses
Starting point is 01:11:53 that fill out this district, and this was kind of a newer addition to it as this technology became available. And actually, go ahead and roll a history check. Natural 20. Wow! Love me some air shifts. Actually, sky ships originated in Enkarell.
Starting point is 01:12:15 This is where the crystals, that hold them aloft are enchanted. Oh, gee. There have been other ships. There are different designs that are constructed in different towns. You do know that there is no skyship transport to Wildmount,
Starting point is 01:12:31 and that was part of the reason why the sovereign Uriel was trying to make that deal with the Briar Woods under the idea that it would open trade with Wildland. It's pretty insular and kind of locked off from the larger countries here that worked together.
Starting point is 01:12:48 But yeah, so this Skyport here is probably the first sky fort that was built. And this is the origin of that tech. As you come to the very top of the platform eventually stops, and you see one gentleman there who's essentially working this large crank that brings the platform up, and it has a series of thick chains that kind of wind on themselves. As soon as he finishes, and you guys get the top he turns, and, what, hello?
Starting point is 01:13:15 Beep meep. Be pleased. We are here to inquire about some business, if you don't mind. Points that way, and you guys look to the writing. The rest of this terrace, for the record. There are two sky ships that are currently docked here at the moment. One that has a very kind of nice, thick, heavy design. It has beautiful kind of gems encrusted in this side. this kind of brass and gold inlay that twists into this kind of turquoise transition to the bottom. It's a beautiful ship. And you can see now there are, there's a crew of about 12 that are currently loading things onto it right now. There's a big crane-like apparatus, similar to what you had in Amman, that is currently putting things onto the ship. It looks like it's being heavily loaded for transport somewhere. There's another ship. It looks familiar. It looks actually very similar to the Amman designs that you guys saw, the skyports over there, that appears to be by about six heavy chains.
Starting point is 01:14:16 locked to the opposite side of the sky port and doesn't seem to have any apparent hustle, bustler crew around it. It's a little bit smaller than the more intricate design. The one that has all the work around it does match some of the design aesthetic of some of the higher-end areas of Oncorell, so that you probably imagine it's one of the original sky ships that was built here. The other one you saw has the small fins in the side, similar to the one you wrote across to Vasselheim. You do also notice that there are about six hands of ores. scattered across the terrace in full armor that are basically keeping an eye out and watching everything
Starting point is 01:14:50 to make sure no bullshit goes down. And the... Let's see. You do see what appears to be a small building that's in the center of this terrace that maybe has about three or four different rooms and mostly... Apparently the individual who is overseeing this entire process with the one big ship is walking back and forth
Starting point is 01:15:14 between with instructions to the foreman who's yelling out to the crewmen who are loading up this big ship. That would probably be the place to go to inquire. Okay. We go over there. Yeah. All right. As you walk in, we die. Roll over. We die. We die.
Starting point is 01:15:31 Scamlin is no more. Green dragon unveils herself and we die. My barrels! My barrels! Shit. You've read this one. Literally in the last place we would have looked. Okay, there we go.
Starting point is 01:15:47 I'll see that. All right. So as you walk into the room, it's fairly quiet. There appears to be a clerk office there with a bunch of ledgers just stacked up, and you can see what looks to be kind of a layout of a number of days with notes scrolled in a language that you don't recognize. There are a couple of small clockwork time pieces that are just against the walls there. And you see a younger woman.
Starting point is 01:16:19 I'm only like mid-20s, but going gray a little early on just one side of her head, who is currently going through one of these e-books, she has a, it looks to be a quill between her teeth right now, and she's kind of thumbing through the pages. It kind of looks up, and he had it peat. He takes the quill out and sets it down. Hello, be pleased, beep, beep. My associate and I would like to inquire about renting an airship.
Starting point is 01:16:46 Renting and airship. Chartering it for a trip. Okay. Well, for now, let's see. The ship Wusson is already chartered and is loading up to be heading northward towards Assyria. That is not available. The other one, which is the Dira, has been docked for about four weeks without use. So you could go inquire with the captain there. Is that the crappier one or the better one? It's the smaller one. So we would charge it from the captain themselves, not from you. Oh, well, the captain would pay us a cut based on what the description is. Can you, just so I can do my homework, how much do you think a week's charter would run on an airship?
Starting point is 01:17:38 That is for reason to negotiate with the captain. Yes. Is there any way to book passage on the ship that's already moving northward? As passengers. That is not a passenger-based ship. Unfortunately, that is actually working for one of the guilds. It is paid for use of their merchantile only. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:18:01 How fast is that smaller ship? Unloaded? Pretty quick. The cargo can load down ships. Yes. Isn't how fast you wish to go and where you were going. May I ask, where are you planning to charter this too? Our mission is a bit of a hush-hush one. We'd better not disclose that.
Starting point is 01:18:21 Yeah, we are going to an ocean. Perhaps it is best that we negotiate the price here, then, than is opposed to with the captain. What? Yes, that would be preferable for sure. Right? Wait, why? Who's the captain? She stands up and walks over to one of the small windows that leads out to the terrace,
Starting point is 01:18:50 and you can see another bell that's out there, and she kind of grabs the edge of be-ding, be-ding, be-ding, bing, bing, ding, on the bell. Another elevator. I'm just calling the captain. He'll be here. Okay. A few minutes pass. And between the distance out the window, you can see a small rope ladder kind of drops, and a figure walks over and then makes their way in.
Starting point is 01:19:11 Inside, in kind of gold trimmed armor is a familiar side, actually. This is Captain Damon, the one who actually brought you guys across the Osmond C. It's our Damon! Are there, like, not that many pilots, I guess, in the world? There aren't a lot of sky ships. I mean, you would know, there's probably maybe six in commission. How fast did this one make the Kessel run? It means it was a week across the entire Ozmit Sea,
Starting point is 01:19:51 and that was with some cargo on board. So it wasn't very slow. very slow. They would have taken a normal ship maybe two and a half weeks. Does Damon recognize us? As he walks in, he goes, uh, yes. Are we ready to? Wyverns attacked us.
Starting point is 01:20:09 We're not there. We're not there at all. We're not there at all. Stop scrying. Stop drinking at that damn tavern. Just finish a wine. Captain Damon. Hello. Where did I know you?
Starting point is 01:20:22 Yes, we've flown together before on the friendly skies. Yes, that was a. That was a dangerous journey. It was, and would have been more dangerous had we not been there, to protect you and your ship. Indeed, I greatly appreciate that. What can I do for you?
Starting point is 01:20:40 He looks over towards the car coast. They're looking to charter ship northward. I know nothing else more, but I figured the confusion here would allow us at least both to discuss this so we can negotiate the proper price. So you talk, I'll be here to keep record, and she opens a fresh page in her tomb, lips or quill. Ledges.
Starting point is 01:20:56 Oh, maybe we don't want to. any of this on the record for right now. Okay. Remember that for the negotiation. Let's show. Captain kind of wings at her. All right, so, you know, we're very busy. Our books are full, and we have a few other
Starting point is 01:21:14 individuals that are currently seeking use of our ships. So, what is it you need, where are you going, and for how long? This would be a week or less, the mission. mission. Looking to leave quite soon. Maybe even tomorrow morning. All right. We'd be going north, correct? Yes. Yes. Into the Osmond Sea and to a location that we would disclose to you once we get airborne. You hear a voice in the back because also consider that in the negotiation.
Starting point is 01:21:46 But also considered this. We are on a mission that's very important to the security of both Marquette and other continents. and we have friends in high places, and I will flash our little badge. Yes! The badge that Jamansa Ord gave us. Not your fake little star from Prisho? No. He looks down and he goes,
Starting point is 01:22:09 that looks very pretty. Oh, this is given from Jamansa Ord. Doesn't hold sway over there. I don't know who that is. Yes, I didn't think you would. The clerk hovers says, wait, wait. You're saying you got something from Jamans Saord. You saw Jemann Saord and you were given something.
Starting point is 01:22:27 Yes. Yes. Let me see this. I hand it over. She looks like... Ah... ...very well. Oh, consider that in negotiation.
Starting point is 01:22:51 She looks over and meets eyes with the captain and goes, Um... We're going to go ahead. Uh... You let me know the price. and the palace is going to pay for this expedition. What? That is the most valuable necklace.
Starting point is 01:23:14 It opens the book and begins writing down a series of charges. And there's just racking up. You just babe Ruth. That's all right. It's totally fine. It's totally fine. We'll probably need... To the brothels. Sparkling water.
Starting point is 01:23:30 Stacked. We may need... Brandy, lots of brandy for the trip. Maybe some servants and some masseuses. Yes. We'll definitely need someone with a knowledge of the sea both in the air and down below. The captain says, actually we've got an individual just for that. Oh great. Kind of looks back to the clerk. You sure?
Starting point is 01:23:55 Yes, it's fine, not a worry. Just we'll talk when they leave. Don't mind me, but I have a violence on the marned at old times. Is there any customary of weaponry or defense that you can put on these airship during our travels. Just in case we run into the same shit we hit last time. Uh, in the counter goes, actually, after the encounter we had over the Osmouth last time, I managed to outfit the ship with a brand new series of dragon arbles, so this is going to be a well, well defended journey. Nice. Do they aim in like all directions?
Starting point is 01:24:30 You'll see. Nice. And you do recall seeing them when you when you were in Masselheim, you saw them being kind of brought down and installed on the ship. But that was the last time you saw the ship. So. Can the ship be prepared to leave tomorrow morning? We can leave in the next hour if you want. Oh.
Starting point is 01:24:52 Stand at the ready. Our businesses of great import. Yes, Krug. Yes, it is. I think you should ring the bell to make this an official deal. Can I ring the bell? You can if you want. But I don't grab it and ring, and I go, bang! One loud time. The ringing is discordant and painful
Starting point is 01:25:15 in the proximity of the clerk. You're like, Kaplan kind of chuckles to himself. So, in the morning. We'll have to discuss with our associates, but be prepared as quickly as possible. All right, I'll assemble the crew, and we'll be ready within the hour.
Starting point is 01:25:32 Excellent. How many of your crew will you have with you? Any, let's see here. Just ballpark it. Yeah, it would be a crew of eight. Normally seven, we have eight, though. And I'm sure this crew is your finest. No greenhorns, men you spent years with, trust your life with.
Starting point is 01:25:54 Most of them, yes. Most of them. How many do you not trust your life with? There's one we've had on board for a short time, but she's definitely proven worth you. Perhaps she should stay behind on this voyage. She's the one with the mastery of the ocean. She's coming in the world.
Starting point is 01:26:09 with us. Thank you, Damon. Oh, one more thing. I asked you this last time, but are you still single? Yes. Okay, just good. Good to know. Don't worry about him. There's a hubbub down in the corner. People were just talking. It's the gold armor. I'm already my ship. Yep, good. Do it. We'll be back. Why did you ask him if he was single? That was so awful.
Starting point is 01:26:37 Because Vex really liked him last time. I know, but he thought you liked him. Now we have to like... Oh, everyone thinks I like... them. That's part of my winky charm. I thought you were saying this party a winky. That's not the charm. Okay. All right, you guys, you've seemingly locked passage.
Starting point is 01:26:54 Boom! For free, bitch! I've been using this all over the place! I know! It's an MX black card. Real quick, guys, real quick. We make our way back. Real quick, though, on the way back, I'm going to go to the casino. Just real quick. Real quick.
Starting point is 01:27:15 We'll see this. Just real quick. Yep, we're with you. No, we're here. Now, you, you... You guiding back, just head right towards the Lux Run. I don't know if this is where our friends are. That's a shortcut.
Starting point is 01:27:29 Oh, okay. We get outside. I pull Grog into a little alleyway and I say, listen, friend. I'm gonna go in there and do a little business. Can you do me a favor? a favor. Play some music outside while you go number two. Need you to keep your eyes open.
Starting point is 01:27:45 And I will minor illusion. Can I minor illusion a face of one of those guys who did the deal with me? Yeah, you could. It's a still image. It makes no sound. It's very much an illusion. Yeah, it's for him to show him what he looks like. This face, look at it, lock it in.
Starting point is 01:28:01 Fumpf. I do the other face as well. This face, you see it? Is there a test on this later? There's only one test. If you see these people, grab them. Grab them, and then what? Do what Grog does best.
Starting point is 01:28:13 Just do what I do best when I see them. But you won't see them unless they leave the casinos. Just stay out here at the door. Outside? Yes. Cool. You're my lookout, man. Should I have like a co-word if you know they're coming out, like?
Starting point is 01:28:29 Yeah, let's come up with one right now. Yeah? Yeah. Dijon. Yep, there it is. Dijon. All right. Call you taking the watch, you head into the casino.
Starting point is 01:28:42 Oh, before I go in. Hat of disguise on. And what was you wish to look like? Adult human male, goate, pork pie hat, black jacket. Seeking. Just an ordinary man. Yeah, Mr. Short-Halt, yeah!
Starting point is 01:29:04 It's an editor Costello, I'm not sure. And you walk into the Lux run, being midday It's not as busy as the evening you saw previously, but there are, you know, I'd say about half the tables are still running and they have clientele throughout. I'm looking in the interest of time, just gonna look around for any of those two faces. Make a perception check.
Starting point is 01:29:26 That's bardic magic, bitch. Not much. Nine. You spend the better part of half an hour scoping through each floor. No sign. I didn't go into their office though, right? No, no, just through the bottom floor and going up and kind of just checking the hallways and the third floor, which you hadn't been before, which is more of like a lounge patio. It has more of like the higher stakes games. You can see there are some of the higher rollers and the...
Starting point is 01:29:53 And can I make my way to the office area where they had led me? Yeah, I mean the door is closed. Can I just listen outside? Yeah, you take a listen. Doesn't appear to be any sound from the other side. Damn it. Can I go to the corner where I can see the front entrance and the side alley where I was and look and look and see. if I see either of those two faces. Sure, make perception check. This will go well.
Starting point is 01:30:13 Tone or shit, six. Six. No sign of them. Cool. I'm looking at the wall. Damn it. All right, I'll quickly dimension door inside the office. Inside the office. Thankfully you have your no-mish dark vision. It is dark in here. There are no lights.
Starting point is 01:30:32 The table and chairs and the general decor of the room seemingly untouched since the last time you were in here. All right. Is there any source of light around here or anything? There are a couple of lanterns in the corner that could be lit with. I will light one. Alright. Turn the lantern up, light glows.
Starting point is 01:30:51 Going right into the desk looking for anything. Keys, gold, contraband weapons. Investigation check. Yes. 23. Scaning through, you find the odd four copper pieces. you find what looks to be a couple of small books on
Starting point is 01:31:16 one looks like it's an etiquette and the other one is written in a language you don't understand but you gather it's Marquesian you do also find some small like notes like a little name that is drawn on the inside of one of the drawers that looks old like it's been there for a long time
Starting point is 01:31:33 and just says Leland and you find That's about it. Okay. You get the sense this isn't like a stationary room that they use as a base of operations. It's almost like a rental space used from people want to come in here and do business, which happens often in a casino establishment. They want to make sure they provide to their clientele and all the necessary needs. And a lot of these rooms in the center floor are kind of to facilitate the meetings between the top and the bottom.
Starting point is 01:32:00 All right, I'll do one more investigation check to see if there's any hidden compartments in the desk or around the... Run into the ground. Four. 24. Nothing under the desks but the table that you're at. There is a small, false bottom on each side. You pull it open, and there is a single
Starting point is 01:32:24 dagger on each end. Look me up, son. Apparently, for those that know, they're provided as a means of defense in case things in one of these meetings go wrong. But who knows, who knows this information? It looks like they haven't been used in a while. All right.
Starting point is 01:32:37 Could I look around and see if I see all the two faces now? Sure, make an upset. 18. Nope. All right, fine. I will take the daggers, take the Markation book, whatever that was, take a huge dump on the desk,
Starting point is 01:32:57 and take one of the daggers and dig a big piece of it and write on the wall, The Meat Man cometh. Wouldn't it be the Meat Man Goeth? Oh well, never mind. And then I'll just let myself out. Okay. You open the door. There are two people just kind of walking through.
Starting point is 01:33:21 They just kind of glance over at you and keep walking. Close the door behind you. And you have left your mark. Okay. On the way out of the casino, do I see any familiar faces? Deception check. 18? 18.
Starting point is 01:33:36 Yeah. Fuck you. They seemingly know better than to return to the scene of the crime. Just that. All right. Great. For some people, for lesser folk, 400 gold can keep you going for quite some time.
Starting point is 01:33:50 Put your money on Red of Blackwater in there, just once. All right. You should try the dice game just once. The dice game? Yeah. All right. Grog. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:03 Want to come in and play once with me? No. Okay, great. I'll do the cat dice game once. Okay, all right. to the table. There's three other individuals in there. Hold on. Let me get prepared here. Since this is the first time we're really doing this here, this is kind of fun. All righty. This is like the third row. Isn't this the seven or the twelve game?
Starting point is 01:34:28 The seven or the two days game. Oh, I can do another game. Let's do the new one. What's the other game? What's the other game? What's the 20 games? The dice game's the card game. Your call. What's the card game? Dice game is the 2D6. It's a fast game. What's the fastest one?
Starting point is 01:34:41 The pastest one. Let's do that one. The dice game. Okay. Hard game takes a little more time. All right, so for that is a 25 gold minimum buy-in for a Vondra's favor. Even in the middle of the day, the minimums don't go down. I know. I feel like the minimum should go down in the middle of the day.
Starting point is 01:34:55 50 gold. You've never been to on Karel. 50 gold. They've already never stopped. All right. 50 gold. All right. You threw 50 gold down.
Starting point is 01:35:05 All right. So as you slap it down, still in your human guys, an individual to the left of you, All right, big, strong opening. Strong scent. It scoots over a bit to the right. Go ahead and roll your dice. No paper in there. Six.
Starting point is 01:35:24 Double down. Six is a double down. Six is the double down. You can go ahead and double the price to add an additional one of these six. You're going for seven or twelve. Sure, yeah. So, yeah, roll one more die. It's 100 gold on the table.
Starting point is 01:35:38 Roll one more dice. You want a one? Do you want a six? Do you have six? I got a five. Oh. So sorry. I am very, sorry, my friend.
Starting point is 01:35:47 Shifts the coin away, 100 gold down now. I just say, I hate this casino. Any of the games you want to play? No! No, I leave. God damn it. What was the names? The names that they gave me?
Starting point is 01:36:07 The two guys gave me? Oh, oh. or something? That was Rudder. Rudder? Was the half-ork. And I have to go look up with the other one. It's fine. I'll just ask the dealer, or the
Starting point is 01:36:22 dicer, if he's seen rudder around. You can't... Bleeding me. Five more gold. Oh, yes, a rudder makes his way around. On occasion. Every couple weeks. This city has had its way
Starting point is 01:36:46 with your scale and show at all. You're never going to get a kid. Take your finger out my ass, oh, Gary. He doesn't seem to carry much change with him, son. Are you trying to do this to me on purpose? It looks at you strangely. Yeah, I don't worry, sir. You're talking to math.
Starting point is 01:37:11 You keep coming back, man. I don't know. Fine. Do I see any half-orks? outside. You do not at the moment. There is still Kwan Adderensal or Gamut Award. If you're feeling lucky
Starting point is 01:37:26 I want to make your money back. Not in a million years now. This place, it sucks all my mojo. It's like the anti-mojo. I feel a valuable lesson has been learned.
Starting point is 01:37:41 All right. And I go out and I say, Grog, let's go home. But before we do, just slap me in the face really hard. You sure? Yes, I need it. I need it. Do you want me to use the gotlets or no? No. If he doesn't roll for damage, I'm going to be offended. All right, I'll take off the Titanstone knuckle off my
Starting point is 01:38:00 left hand, and I slap him. All right. Go ahead and roll a strength check. 18. All right. You take five points of damage. Is he still wearing the disguise? He's wearing the hat of disguise?
Starting point is 01:38:23 He is. So would his head not be necessarily where his, that's true. And with Grog being not the one who would remember that or recall that. He goes, I can't even get sluffed in my face right. I will ruin everything. I will ruin everything. I was so confused why a stranger would ask me to slap him. All right.
Starting point is 01:38:48 We go home. Wait. So, way fast with the casino trip, we've been waiting so long. Percival's been acting fucking twitchy since we found that body, so I walk over to him sitting off at a table. Hey, Mr. Cule's a cucumber.
Starting point is 01:39:04 Shush, shush. Oh, come with me, come have a seat. All right, I'm here. What's the matter? Yeah, it's her again. We're going to find her. It's fine. You are huffing and hoeing
Starting point is 01:39:15 since we found her body. It's fine. What's going on? I just, I hoped, I was really just hoping she was gonna go away. That's all. I was really hoping she was just going to go away. Well, she's gonna go away, Percival, if not now, later. Every second she's alive is untold damage to the world. She is, do you know her every now and then I say something just awful? Mm-hmm. I love you both very much for that. When I think of that terrible person inside of me, I see her face.
Starting point is 01:40:07 She has a very active imagination. She knows how to make these machines, and her imagination terrifies me. If you knew that that was me, would you let me live? If she made ten more of these things, has she made a hundred? Does she just hand them out to people? Maybe, I don't know, maybe she's just running around and torturing people's parents and siblings to death and then handing them a gun and kicking them out into the world to see what will happen, because it could be funny. You're probably right, Percival. She probably is. This is not Lord and Lady Briarwood over again, though. No, it's not.
Starting point is 01:41:02 And you're not alone. No, I'm not. You have me, you have her, you have her. You have the other two, Laurel and Hardy, motherfuckers who aren't back here. I was so hoping that maybe... I slammed some mead in front of him. Thank you. I was just hoping something heavy had fallen on her from a great height saving the world.
Starting point is 01:41:22 A few thousand lives. Well, we're going to be above her. Maybe we can be the one to drop something heavy. That's really what I'm hoping. Oh, I've been practicing that. actually. I can be really heavy. That may help. Yeah. And I, she is the biggest mistake I've made, and I'm horrified by who's paid the price. All the more reason for you to be the same cold-hearted asshole you've been for the last year. Why change now? Get the job done. I'm, I'm counting to a hundred. I'll be fine.
Starting point is 01:41:56 It's not very often we see you shaky, Percy. Once we're out of here, I'll feel fine. Once that thing is off my my machine, I will feel fine. Percy. And I'm thinking of something else, and I'm thinking of building something awful to help deal with her. Hang on, hang on, wait, wait, hang on. Because I was just about to ask
Starting point is 01:42:16 if you ever have regrets of building something awful and releasing it into this world, and now you just said you're going to double down, essentially? I've been thinking long and hard about it. I think inevitably, anytime I think of something, it might just be too late.
Starting point is 01:42:34 I think I'm going to be very careful about what I build. I'm going to be very careful about where it goes, and I'm also going to ask anybody if I ever, if when I die, destroy everything, please. This is why I don't write down notes. Any of my sketches, they're put away, and they're put in a place where I can remove them once the job is done.
Starting point is 01:43:01 I, uh, but I sketched my idle thoughts, and right now I'm having it. an idle thought for her and it's simple, it's nothing complicated, it's just vicious. All right, well, we can do that. We can destroy anything you make, but for now. Yes. Percy? Yes. Keep your head, man.
Starting point is 01:43:20 One night of sleep, I'll be there. What exactly are you thinking of making? Because just because we can destroy your notes, I mean, you're still alive and your guns still got into the world. Regardless of what he makes, who wields it? I have a... Fenthris is a horrible weapon, wielded by a horrible being before I had it. A gun can do the same thing.
Starting point is 01:43:46 You're arguably one of the greatest minds in existence right now, Percival. That's a terrible thought. But you are. And Vex isn't wrong. I know. There are things... There are things that one day I will speak of that I'm not... I'm not really ready to deal with yet. but I think I may even have something that could help us with the dragons.
Starting point is 01:44:11 I have a thought. I'm going to work on it on our way to the island. Now I'm nervous. It will be... It will be something that once the dragons are felled, I plan on destroying immediately after. I think you'll be all right with it when you see it. It's too complicated for any one person to really deal with.
Starting point is 01:44:35 But I will feel much better if she is in the ground. But I'm interested in seeing it. Percy. You know you can talk to us, right? You never share ideas with us. I do. I told you my idea of killing all the dragon born to start a war between the dragons.
Starting point is 01:44:52 All right, well... That's why I don't share those ideas. I'm not proud of them. Is this thing you're building going to kill a lot of people in addition to the dragon? I hope not, but it could. It could make it very easy to kill a lot of people.
Starting point is 01:45:08 One day at a time, gang. Let's deal with Ripley. Let's deal with Ripley. All right. Let's collect a few more things that will help us deal with home. Let's save home. And then I will spend some good time on doing some of the damage that I've done. I should have killed her.
Starting point is 01:45:32 I should have. You shouldn't feel regret about not taking another person's life. It's a moment of humanity. It wasn't. I was not being kind. I was being selfish. I didn't kill her, kill her, because the Brow Woods mattered more to me, even though I knew. I knew she was far more dangerous, that if they had escaped, the world would be darker to more vampires or whatever, but she was really, she was the genie. And I, knowingly and very willingly said, I'm fine with that. And I knew at that moment, this was not a thought I had later. In my head, I went. and she is going to kill hundreds of people, and that's okay right now. Percy, if you had stayed with her and let the Briarwoods go, and God, a terrible god would probably be loosed on the land right now. I think you chose correctly.
Starting point is 01:46:27 I think I stumbled into the correct answer. I'm not sure I chose correctly. I think I got lucky. Did you not want to kill her because, in a way, you feel responsible for who she is? Oh, I feel absolutely responsible for inspiring a maniac. Of course I do. Look, we're gonna help you get to her.
Starting point is 01:46:48 You're gonna get her. You gotta let us in on it a bit, though, all right? I'll show you, once I have something drawn, I'll show you what it is. I'll have it something drawn by tomorrow. That's a promise. That is absolutely a promise. Also, I know you're really smart, but we're smart too. Don't insult our intelligence by assuming we can't comprehend one of your ideas.
Starting point is 01:47:09 Oh, no, you'll comprehend it, and I... It's not that I don't think you can comprehend it. I know you can. It's that I know what it says about me that I even thought it. Percy. Percy. Percy. You've been drinking. I have. Keelis. We've been through so much. We have a lot to do today.
Starting point is 01:47:32 We've been through so much. I think my point has been made. I start moving Keelah towards the door for some fresh air. There's some white hair. Come on. Come on. I'm sorry I'm an idiot. Sorry I'm an idiot. I love you, but I hate you, but I love you.
Starting point is 01:47:48 Percy. I'm fond of you as well. Yes, dear. You're a better man than you believe. Thank you. I accept that compliment. You as well. You're a better woman than you believe.
Starting point is 01:48:03 Doesn't feel good, does it? There you are. No. It's what you get for saying things like that, terrible person. But for a second, you also have one more. So we're waiting on our... So we're waiting on our, all right. So your companions arrive. We're back.
Starting point is 01:48:19 We're back. Good news. Grog's sweet talked them into giving us an airship for free. Oh shit, Grog. Grog did the whole thing. Wait, what? How did you do it? Well, it's a very intricate and detailed process.
Starting point is 01:48:31 It involves a lot of... Violence? You know what? It would be all over your heads. So just say thank you. Let's just say that he's a good reader of body language. What did you do? Does you really? We got an airship for free.
Starting point is 01:48:44 Who's excited now? I'm very excited. That's the best guy. Did you say? You didn't do anything. We did nothing illegal. And to sweeten the deal, Captain Damon will be our Damon pilot.
Starting point is 01:48:56 That Captain Damon. Our Damon pilot. Oh. Did you tell him we were the ones with the Wyverns? Because that's what I would have told him. That's in there, theoretically. That thought popped right into my head. Really? Okay.
Starting point is 01:49:12 And on the way back, I- It looks like kinetic or something. I won back the 50 gold. I lost on the soccer. You did. Well done. So I'm going to leave Marquette totally evens. That's great.
Starting point is 01:49:25 That's amazing. Pretty good. I wish I could say that. Oh, cheers to that. Cheers. Cheers. Still back the thousand, this guy. Unstoppable me.
Starting point is 01:49:36 And we can leave whenever we're ready. Oh, yeah. Let's pack our bags. Right now. Oh, wait, no. We still have to decurs the thing. Oh, we're waiting on that. That's why we're fucking.
Starting point is 01:49:44 You guys go back down to the main area. So many things. So many things. All right, all right. So. Should we bring the weapon down there? That seems like a bad idea. Once they're here.
Starting point is 01:49:55 Okay. Actually, yes, why not? It has enough. It has enough for this. Yeah, then Trin gets with us again. Yes, yes. All right, so you guys head back down to the main area of the tavern.
Starting point is 01:50:05 Yeah. There, you see the same folks are there. You see Treva's there, and you see what appears to be a kind of Shifty looking guy, kind of a really pointed nose, very shallow features, and he just kind of like hands are together. He has like a satchel over his shoulder, these kind of long, plain looking robes and his thinning short, dark hairs, like slicked against his skull. He has this kind of thin, kind of mustache goatee right there, and he's kind of sitting at the edge of the bar talking to Treve. So he looks totally trustworthy. Totally trustworthy. As soon as you guys walk downstairs, I think that picture of you on the carousel. Basically, yes, but with a shorter slish hair. I'm glad that's a thing again.
Starting point is 01:50:49 I don't know how to take that, actually. Based on how I just described the NPC. It's more the grimace. Thousands of Twitch viewers Googling, Googling like mad, noted. Whoops, and then back to die. Disadvantage for the rest of the episode. He goes, oh, and here they are, the ones who hired your help. Folks, I'd like to introduce you to Kynne.
Starting point is 01:51:14 He's one of our fine allies in the Omnival Library here in the city, and I believe he can take care of your little problem. So talk. And the guy who kind of spins around on the stool, the edge of the bar, goes, okay, so I've been told that you require some sort of a disenchantment-type thing. Who am I talking to here? There's a lot of you.
Starting point is 01:51:46 You. Okay, come, come. I have an object that I... Okay, I have an object. It's hard to talk to that. Scandal. You might want to try selling them some of that Fusaka. I have an object that I own that someone is tracking me with.
Starting point is 01:52:05 They're aware of my whereabouts. They've put some kind of enchantment on it. I was wondering if I could transfer that enchantment to another object and send it in a different direction so that they don't know that we're following them. That's possible, yes. I would even be willing, if possible, to remove part of the object that I currently own and then replace it with something else if necessary. Depending on the strength of the enchantment, that can take anywhere within the next few weeks?
Starting point is 01:52:34 Can I get you a drink? Are you all right? Do you, do... Why? Why do you ask? Can I insight check him? Make an insight check, yeah. Yay. Just make sort of a physiological check of his mouth. mouth shape. His jaw seems. New Matt character, new Matt character.
Starting point is 01:52:56 19. Oh. You know at shop. geek and sundry.com, there's a lot of new items up for sale. That's true. There's like the mug. There's the mug.
Starting point is 01:53:09 Did they have that model airship? Oh, yeah. The model airship? The model airship. It's life. It's life size. Nail wraps by espionage cosmetics, only $12. And don't forget, one week left on pre-orders for those silicone bracelets and the enamel pins, guys.
Starting point is 01:53:27 All righty. So I'm going to show him the gun, and I'm going to say, what do you think? And I'm going to show him where the enchantment is. You're showing him the gun? We just said don't show people the gun. We need to remove the enchantment from it. If we can remove the enchantment, if it takes a long time to transfer,
Starting point is 01:53:45 So maybe you can keep transferring it after we've left? Is that a thing? I can get rid of the enchantment. But it's gone. Transfer, that's a time. It's taking process. It's much more expensive than what I was promised as part of this contract. The contract was...
Starting point is 01:54:05 The contract was... The tree was leaned back and he was like, I just brought me here to talk with him. We just want to know our options, sir. And time is sadly of the essence. What do you know, what can you tell us about this? Bringe construction. Hmm?
Starting point is 01:54:26 Yes. Ah, I see what you're talking about. What? Just glancing, shut up. What is that? What is that? It's a variation on a scrying enchantment with a hit of a, it appears to be a message type bass.
Starting point is 01:54:52 It's audio only. not visual. Oh, son of a bitch! Can they track where we are? Um, they cannot track location, but this is a joint enchantment.
Starting point is 01:55:07 There are two pieces to this and it would appear that wherever the receiving end is, they can probably hear everything around it. Guys, this could be a gift. Think of the possibility She's hearing this right now. Right now.
Starting point is 01:55:23 listening. Oh, sure whoever has the other side of this enchantment is now well aware of everything we've just discussed. Great. Maybe we should take it out of the room. No. Who has the other side of this enchantment, by the way, and he suddenly looks extremely nervous. And beads of sweat, starts shing up on his forehead. He's like, I'll tell you what.
Starting point is 01:55:44 You do the work quickly, you do the work well, and you follow a few other instructions of ours, and I will not say her name out loud right now. It's not worthy of saying out loud. What do you want? Disenchantment transference tell me. Not anymore. We just want the enchantment destroyed. But, and I will not say her name,
Starting point is 01:56:08 so that she will know that you do not know who she is. Does that mean? What does that mean? For your own protection. What is he saying? This is me giving you a deal, good sir. This is me showing you respect. And you, you, If you can hear me and I get the sneaking suspicion you can.
Starting point is 01:56:28 I'm not ignoring you anymore. Wait, wait, before you do a quick word, is there a way to reverse the direction? Reaches into a little pouch, some points on the side. Takes a couple things, kind of crushes them, sprinkles them on, looks about. Stun, it's gone here. What?
Starting point is 01:57:05 Really? Can I check it? Scanlan, help me check this. That fast? All right. You are very powerful you. What do we do? What do we do?
Starting point is 01:57:15 I make an unconscious. Scanlan, help. Yeah, I got a natural one, sister. Oh boy. Ah, 16. As you're staring at it, you watch as the Ripley signature, it's kind of very, very small, put in the bottom of the piece of Weistone, begins to glow.
Starting point is 01:57:33 So then he goes, by the way it takes a moment, put your face away. please. And as you pull it back, it just flashes, and then goes dark again. And now it's done. Okay, now look at it again. So what's it look like? Looks the same.
Starting point is 01:57:53 What do you mean it looks the same? Meaning like the signature still there, the stone's still there, but that slight essence of slight enchantment that was ever before is gone. You wouldn't have to know where to get some construction materials on a very quick notice. No. You wouldn't be able to identify something for me.
Starting point is 01:58:11 Oh yes, go ahead, do that. You just seem so smart, isn't it? This was not part of the agreement. Darling, you're already here, please. And we didn't say your name. Make a perspective check. We didn't say your name. I don't know what I got. I will pay you.
Starting point is 01:58:32 How much? How much do you want? It's like a tree. Take this. Just to identify something that's all the end. Something simple. 100 gold, please. 100 gold.
Starting point is 01:58:51 Darling, it seemed effilence for you to do that before. Is it hard? I'm sorry, I can't be here any longer. Fine, fine. And he gets up from the stool. Shit, fine, fine, 100 gold, whatever. I just want to, no, can you just look at this, please?
Starting point is 01:59:10 It's a T-set. It's gold. Isn't it beautiful? Takes it from you, and his hands are kind of inclaimy as he pulls it out of your gas. When he looks over the tea set and it's kind of, it's like ding-d-d-in-in-in his hand. He doesn't really know what to do with it,
Starting point is 01:59:22 and it kind of places him aside. I mean, it's like breathing heavily into it. It's like fogging the side of the metallic tea set. You see the sweat kind of dripping off of his nose. He's still very nervous about this whole endeavor and wants to get out of here as soon as possible. All right, this, um, this is a tea set of envenoming. Whenever you produce some sort of a liquid imbibement
Starting point is 01:59:53 within the T set, it's guaranteed to be a bad day forever drinks from it. It's so good we didn't drink from it. I was so good. Does the liquid hold its potency or is it just within the T-day? For a day. Good to know.
Starting point is 02:00:07 Lovely. Excellent. Will someone die? I'm not a master of poisons. I just know that it poisons. That will do. Thank you so much. Thank you.
Starting point is 02:00:17 Takes it and holds it and it and it's like, 100 gold. Of course, dear. Thank you. And as soon as he gets to the let's go of it, puts in his pouch, and good day. Treif, careful next time. And he darts off outside.
Starting point is 02:00:34 Bushing through the door into the alley. And Treet says, ah. I was imagining the FBI agent from the Frighteners. I was having like a lot of that. Yeah. I was imagining the Creek music video from Lonely Islands. Kind of. Yeah, actually.
Starting point is 02:00:49 Oh. The tree was like, Now that was fun to watch. That guy was weird. He's a weird one. Yeah. But. I knew he did the job, but honestly,
Starting point is 02:01:04 I kind of like watching him Twitch. Thank you. He was, that was very helpful. That was very helpful. So, they don't know that we're coming because they don't know that we're, how we're going or why, because we have spoken all of that outside of the range of that device.
Starting point is 02:01:20 They don't know any of that. True, the gun was in the other room. All they know is that. that we found the enchantment and killed it. Should we melt it just in case? No. There'll be no more melting of my property for a little while yet.
Starting point is 02:01:40 I have a bit of a quick shopping list before we head out of town. I was wondering if it would be possible just to gather some quick supplies if some of your people knew were to get simple construction. And potions of healing. today. Oh, the ocean just headed the Sunkar Pizar.
Starting point is 02:01:58 I'm sure you can find a few folks. We usually get ours from, uh, the fence looking through a lot. Let's see, there's, uh... Are we staying here for the night before heading out in the room? No. Or are we're sleeping on the ship? Yes. That is exciting.
Starting point is 02:02:13 Those are the two I know at least. Sa-A-Sahber. Love sleeping on planes. Hussar and Nisaba. And they'll give a good deal? Perhaps. Yes. I need lumber, I need steel, I need lead, and a couple other things. Very simple, just some materials. I'll give you, I'll show you what I'm building and I'll have you figure out the number. Right. Just loaded straight on the ship.
Starting point is 02:02:50 Which you're looking for is the bone garden. Bone garden? It's northernmost side of the Suncuttbazar. They deal with a lot of the not guild rodden, sales of various conditions. instruction needs more for the residential folk here in Elkerel. That'll do. All right, so for the sake of brevity here, what are you searching for? I'm trying to get enough construction material to build a very, very basic 125 pound mountable cannon that I can move around the ship on wheels and a little bit of shot for a cannon, about five pound, five pound shot. Okay, I mean, it's simple, but it's going to be a Yes, son of a bitch. There are cannons made, like that technology does exist. Does it does something that small that can move around a ship exist?
Starting point is 02:03:46 There... This is something like four people could pick up and move around. That small, the few things they have here, like still kind of, uh, they're, they're magically based, fired. It's similar to the, the dragon arbalist installations, something. It's not so much a gunpowder-based explosion since that in itself is mostly unutilized. This is a metal tomb that contains an enchantment that throws out bursts of energy.
Starting point is 02:04:22 So you could purchase a base for one of those constructs. That would definitely cut down the time. Because if you're going to make a cannon, that's like an endeavor. That'll take a long time. A base will do, and I've got a... and I just need to build a thing to build cannonballs. And I kind of kind of harder to do that.
Starting point is 02:04:40 It takes you the better part of the day to even find out, asking around, because Treve doesn't know anything about where to find the base for a cannon like that. Takes the better part of the rest of the day, pushing in the desk for you to find out where that could be purchased. And that's going to run you about 60 gold. I'm good with that. Because it's not enchanted.
Starting point is 02:05:01 It's just a base. 60 gold and then a little extra to make cannonballs in otherwise. and so. Okay. Just get it. Just get them to deliver it to the ship. I'm sending everything to be delivered immediately to the ship.
Starting point is 02:05:13 Okay. So yeah. Anything else in one of those one pair? I have potions. Who needs healing potions? All of us? Yeah. Everybody.
Starting point is 02:05:22 Sure. On street level sales here and asking around, the most you can acquire are probably any number of common the regular healing potions that you may want, the base level. And it looks like through, conversations at most five of the greater can be purchased. Okay, can I keep Scanlan, can you come with me? Yes.
Starting point is 02:05:44 Can we find someone, a guard, a hand of ward? Yeah, not too hard to find it all, actually. Quick look around and hand of board, especially here in the market. Flash the thing. What am I flashing it for? I want to talk to him. Get the cube out. Oi, mate, we're friends. We're friends with Jamonso, all.
Starting point is 02:06:04 we're not making a street deal right now I thought everything was here this could be part of your problem here really you kind of bench down after giving you a weird eyebrow I'm a normal human man we met
Starting point is 02:06:23 you're still in your hair I forgot to take it off so so your normal human man in non-oncorella tire shows off yeah yeah Yeah, totally. We can come about that.
Starting point is 02:06:40 We met with Jermonso old earlier. We have their blessing. Make persuasion, Jack. 18? 18 total? Yeah. Okay, good. Okay, what can I be of service to you?
Starting point is 02:07:00 Um, we're in need of some healing potions. I'm assuming as a guard of the city you have access to quite a few. They probably muster a few from the barracks, yes. Yes. some greater healing potions would be wonderful. Get what we can spare. We still have to keep enough to maintain and watch. Wait here, give me half hour.
Starting point is 02:07:29 You guys wait for one. He comes back with six regular healing potions and three greater. Damn! This thing is the best thing ever! I know. I'm not holding anything, but it's still cool. Six, six regular? Okay.
Starting point is 02:07:46 Three greater. This will never go away. This is what we can spare from the nearby barracks. Thank you so much. The raid is appreciated. If I could have your names just to be safe that everything is... Be pleased. Voxmokina.
Starting point is 02:08:02 Voxmokina. And then I want to buy like three more greater. All right, that is 1500 gold. Can I say I haggled? Roll a preservation. Check. It's going to be 1800. Any 20 side of die.
Starting point is 02:08:22 Shut up! Big money. No way. Natural 20! Oh! What's up! The sorcery is strongly. What's up?
Starting point is 02:08:30 What do I know? Through diving between two different locations that sell these potions and forcing them to basically bid back and forth for your business, you manage to work it down to 1100 gold pieces for the three-grader he-year-old. Good. Good. I had Amazon.com on your phone and you're going, huh? All right, three more great healing potions. Sounds good. You saved 400 gold. You know what?
Starting point is 02:08:55 Want to kick some of that to this guy? What? I thought you were even. I've been helping you all day, shuttling back and forth between those two. Can I insight check him? Go for it. Oh, boy. It's not going to work, but oh, I hope it does.
Starting point is 02:09:07 Make a deception check. Oh, it's high. It's not so good. 27. Remember, you can also add your own inspiration date. No need. Let's see here. You said 27? Yeah. 26. For the first time you see a crack in Scanlon Short Hall.
Starting point is 02:09:27 Veneer, you see a bit of sweat at his brow, and as he mentions this money, suddenly you see this quiver to his smile. His teeth shine not as bright as you recall. And there's just a taste of desperation you never knew was there at the mention of money. The faintest nosebleed. Darling. Yes. We all have off days.
Starting point is 02:09:55 I've had a whole off city. We're about to leave. Please, can we? We can. I won't tell anyone. All right. So like 200 gold then? I don't.
Starting point is 02:10:08 Please, sir. I give him 50. That's the line to me. Thank you. I want to go away from this place. Get back to politics, please. Okay, yeah. Minus 1100.
Starting point is 02:10:28 Like imagine, this whole campaign's over. Skin and the Short hole comes back and just like cleans out the casino in vengeance. The airship boiled in. Raka, ducat, d'uagat, d'a, d'a. And monetarily, but that works too. Scarface. Even though it's dusk, should we mount up? tonight.
Starting point is 02:10:50 Yes. Yeah. Let's go get to the boat. Let's head to the sky. This is really happening. I'm so excited. We've joked about it for ages. Indala.
Starting point is 02:11:00 Mm-hmm. Indala. All right, you all make your way to the sky port. Yes. It would have been so much sweeter if we could have stolen the airship, but getting it for free feels right. It's pretty good. We got it for a steel. Yep.
Starting point is 02:11:15 There you are all right. That's terrible. You guys make your way up to the terrace platform. above the skyport. The larger ship you guys saw earlier is no longer there. It is taken off. And now all you see before you is the ship Dira that is currently down. The six chains been reduced to two, and it appears to be at the ready. It is supposed to where it was kind of in a resting position. It is now the fan on the side that unfurled. The crystals themselves glow with a faint blue energy signature. As the dusk sun begins to set, it's much more prominent now.
Starting point is 02:11:46 and what appears to be a series of four rope ladders have been dropped from the side of the actual ship. Ladies, your chariot waits. No, I make sure Scanlon goes first. All right. I turn around and wink at him. All right, you guys make your way up the rope ladders. This is indeed the ship that you made across,
Starting point is 02:12:15 though it has a new paint job on it. Welcome to Mick Unplugged, the number one podcast for self-improvement and modern leadership. This is Mick Unplug, the voice and face of modern leadership entrepreneur, and self-improvement. Let's get started. The world of Sonic the Hedgehog has been thrust into a not-so-dark, not-so-stormy, hard-boiled detective story
Starting point is 02:13:36 that probably nobody saw coming. Follow Sonic and the Intrepid Chaotic's detective agency as they take on their biggest case yet. This high-flying, action-packed adventure will take them across the world, fighting for every twilligan five. It's one. heck of a tale, which is good, because this story might be the only thing that can save their lives.
Starting point is 02:14:04 Well, if that's all, I can just dispose of you. Wait, what? All will be revealed in. Sonic the Hedgehog presents the Chaotic's Case Files. Listen now, wherever you get your podcasts. When the Chaotics are on the case. It looks a little bit nicer, but it also seems to have seen some disuse. You make a way onto the board, and there you can see familiar ship hands that go around,
Starting point is 02:14:38 kind of nodding to you out of recognition. Some of them are pulling up the rope ladders behind you. You see two on the bottom there are now unchaining from the edge of where it's latched onto the side of the ship on each side. It keeps it latched into the skyport. And Captain Damon comes up to the top to greet you. Very well, I see that you've come to begin the journey. Well, it is a pleasure to see you all again, safe and sound, although you are missing one, too, actually.
Starting point is 02:15:06 Yes, we're a bit thinner. It has been difficult, and we have friends elsewhere preparing for more difficult times. Are you aware of what's going on across the sea? I'm very aware. That was the guild that owned the Shimp in and our business disappeared in the attack. We've been kind of set adrift in making our own money and ends meet in the meantime doing our jobs here and there. Well, if you're interested, we are definitely
Starting point is 02:15:37 moving towards correcting some of these problems. Quickly. If you do, tell the guild that the ship crashed, because as of right now, it's technically my ship. Is this an insurance thing? I didn't... The guild owned and ran the shipping business, but I mean... Oh, no. Yes. I'm... I'm a deep believer in insurance fraud, of course.
Starting point is 02:16:03 No oversight. We're friends here. We're all friends. We're all friends. You're good. You're good. So, I'd like to know where we're going, as that was as part of the deal to be kept secret until boring. Actually, if you don't mind, we're heading north. Once we're away from port, we plan to inform you of our destination. Tomorrow.
Starting point is 02:16:21 North it is. Very well. And he pulls a whistle from his neck and blows it very loudly, and everyone unleashes the change from the side. They clansch down, slamming onto the terrace deck below. The ship kind of lurches and lifts up a few feet just naturally in finding its own balance based on the enchantment of the crystals. You can stay on the edge if you like. You're welcome to find your quarters down below. But we are about to make sail. He walks to the edge of the ship or the middle of the ship, the back where you can see.
Starting point is 02:16:53 he goes ahead and directs the position of it and controls the crystals themselves. And the giant dragon-headed arbalist now is he installed on the side. And they're like the giant heavy, heavy crossbows that are bolted on the side. These large, large spears, the ones that you were using in the fight before, they're nearly twice the size is what they were, and the front of them have this giant kind of dark metal dragon head that is built around it. It's been definitely fitted to be a much more best.
Starting point is 02:17:23 badass airship than you remember. It lifts up and as the last bit of the sun disappears below the distant horizon and the city of Encorel's lighting up for the evening time, you take up into the sky, slowly turning northward towards what you can see is barely visible the silhouetted edge of the mountain range before you, the Agrad Mountains, making your way to the rest of your journey. And we're gonna go ahead and take a break. So, as we left off, Oxmaki and I is... Before we do that. It's a story.
Starting point is 02:18:00 We just have to say, we forgot to mention the top of the show. Oh, well, the mention. There's only one week of pre-order left on the bracelets and the pins. Yeah, we want people to miss out. It's limited run. Yeah, so I don't have a bracelet, though I have the pins. He's wearing the bracelet. Bam.
Starting point is 02:18:13 I didn't mention that while you were getting whispered to you. I know, you did. I heard you. But, you know, in case people were drowning you out. In a non-hurried fashion. And then we also have the limited items, which we only have a little bit left in the store, the nail wraps, and the patches that were a limited edition at Comic-Con that are still there, I think, still in the store. So yeah.
Starting point is 02:18:37 Cool. Awesome. The rings. We're the rings up and down. And the rings, the spinning rings. There's still something like. They're back in? Okay.
Starting point is 02:18:43 And the mug, which is my favorite. Okay, okay. Okay, sorry. All right. No worries. Thank you for mentioning it. Thanks. Boxing market.
Starting point is 02:18:50 as night has taken the sky and you lift up. Heading north where you watch as the glowing jewel of Ancarel begins to slowly grow smaller and smaller in the distance. Below you, you just see mass of black darkness. I want to take Percy to the front of the ship. Set it down. I put it down. I put it down.
Starting point is 02:19:13 Okay. And I just want to. I feel so dirty. I feel dirty. Say it. No. So you can fly. I'm not going to say that.
Starting point is 02:19:23 Say you feel like you can fly, Percy. It's not true. Say you're flying. I feel sick. Damn it. Don't throw up again. While they're doing that, I'm actually flying next to the ship and praying. Praying for a while out in the dark.
Starting point is 02:19:38 Okay. So yeah. You have very little idea of where you are than just watching the city slowly disappear. here. Above, as you kind of look towards the front of the ship where it's going, you'd see little specks of light in the distance. It was like smaller cities or villages that, you know, slowly begin to move past and below you. And the stars in the sky, breaking through some of the clouds that occasionally block as you progress. You do, as the ship begins to rise about cloud level,
Starting point is 02:20:11 you can see just the very faint outline of the mountain range and you then coast above it. As you begin to finally crest over the top of the mountain range, it's South, Captain Damon kind of locks the ship steering mechanism in place and walks back to approach to address all of you. All right, we're well in our way. We're heading north. We've been traveling for a number of hours now. Where are we going? Before, I swear this is important. Before we say anything, we would like to take a moment to just meet the rest of the crew. Yes, and all hands on deck. To make sure that nobody suspicious has snuck on board and nobody is hiding their identity. Very well. And he goes and gathers the rest of the crew. You recognize a few of them. Sure. They have a few new faces because they lost a few in the last journey.
Starting point is 02:21:10 Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oops. Good luck. And you individually meet each one and they all, you know, with pretty heavy the inspection from you guys. I want you to make insight checks all of you as you're inspecting this crew. Oh, no. 15. 19. Ooh, 22. 15. All right. Glancing about, mostly human crew. There is one elf, a female as part of the crew, who handles most direct navigation with the captain now. You had before. Her name is Julia, and she seems nice enough. There is a female halfling who,
Starting point is 02:22:03 very, very nice, clean-cut hair pulled into a heavy ponytail in the back. And as she smiles, you can see her somewhat broken and rotted teeth. As you guys kind of give the whole look over, she smiles and kind of looks a little nervous at the rest of you. You take a closer look and you pick up on it, Vex. This is one of the bandits, the one you took captive on the journey over to Fasselheim. Oh. Holy crap. Apparently has become one of the crew now.
Starting point is 02:22:42 Wow. Well, no, we've asked for her at the time. No. I wanted her to pray. All right. He's cool. Yeah, no. She dies.
Starting point is 02:22:51 Good for you. Excellent. What's her name? Did we ever get a from her? Tila. Tira. Tira. Tira.
Starting point is 02:23:04 R. Written down. I should look at my sheet first with Tila. Grass. Island of grass. And there's no, um, magic attempts to hide somebody's face or anything like that.
Starting point is 02:23:17 No, you guys all give a good look and kind of a very thorough inspection of the crew, and they all seem legitimate. This is, and this is everybody. Yes. Captain. Who is it that's in charge of your sea-worthy navigations, the newest member of your crew, you mentioned? Well, that would be Tira. She's actually been all about this ocean, not necessarily by a skyship, but she knows the area as well.
Starting point is 02:23:44 And as Lynch studied up and has become a very esteem member of our crew. He looks to her, and Tira, her smile broadens again. That is correct. I'm happy to help in wherever it is you're looking to help. Where are you going? Shall we just lay it on them then? Yeah, drop the hammerskin. We're going to go near the island of glass, aka Glintshore.
Starting point is 02:24:09 You watch her face kind of go, and Captain Damon goes, Why Glint Shore? That places a rocky waste. Well, we're not going there, we're going near it to find a shipwreck. Shipwreck. The Venus, probably hundreds of
Starting point is 02:24:30 of them. The place is dotted with reefs. We're looking for, we might as well. We're looking for a ship called the Shrew. So you're wanting us to take you to the Hespit Archipelago? Absolutely. Absolutely. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:24:43 There is another ship on the way there as well. Some say archipelago, but they may be trouble. The other ship may already be there, and if we can find the other ship, then we found our destination. Right. The Archipelago. Let's see. We have no sundry we're holding, so we're at maximum speed. I'd say two, maybe three days of travel, depending on whether. Just to get in the area. To get us to... Then it'll take another day or two to find this ship.
Starting point is 02:25:23 No, we might... Well, not necessarily. We keep watching. Every day we scry, every day we hone in. We just keep following where they're going. Ideally, she does the hard work for us. It's worth noting as well that if we do find this ship, we do not mean her well. I can only assume going to Hespite. You seem very familiar with this place. Do you have more information? Or apprehension.
Starting point is 02:25:53 Hespit is a... The whole network of islands there is kind of a haven for criminals and fugitives and pirates and everyone else who generally keeps away from the large continents. Fun. So you go without guard, stay without threat, you're likely to be bent into slavery or you end up left bleeding somewhere on the shoreline. Is that a promise? We're super powerful, so.
Starting point is 02:26:16 You do the flying, we'll do the fucking shit up. We'll just have to come in low, most likely. I don't want to try and draw attention to this ship, because I'm sure it would fetch quite a penny if it were to fall into the hands everyone else in. Sure, Kielit would provide you with some cover as well. Well, that would be very much appreciated. I could do that. Thankfully, Glenshaw itself is pretty much useless to most of their standards of business practices. It's mostly ignored by their, from what I know at least, of what they do, but still just to be safe and be careful. Has Tira been around there? Does she know anything of that particular shipwreck? He's about a talk in Tira, perhaps something goes, I do actually, and I will be guiding us directly to it. so don't worry. To the shipwreck? Not to the shipwreck, but to Glenshore.
Starting point is 02:27:09 Oh, but have you heard of that shipwreck, anything? The Shrew. The Shrew? I have not. But there are plenty of shipwrecks in the area. I'm sure there's much you could recover if that's what you're looking for. It's... Nope, stick with Shrew. I'll take you where I can. The island of glass, is it called that because of like, glass production site? Yep. Is that hard for you, Greg? I hurt myself.
Starting point is 02:27:49 Yeah. I reach out and wipe a little bit of blood from my nose. Um, uh, Captain Damon says, sorry. I don't know the history exactly, but, uh, at some point in time, something really bad happened, and all the sand of the shores were fused. Into like dark brown and black glass. It's just a jagged landscape leading all the way up to the mountain, the jungle is petrified and dead, it's just it's not a
Starting point is 02:28:21 welcoming place. I'm just surprised why anyone would pay so much to go there. But I'm sure you have your reason. Could I do like a nature check to sound, to like see if that sounds familiar? Sure. A beast or something that would happen. Heat would turn to a glass. Um, 26.
Starting point is 02:28:41 Uh, to fuse the beaches or an island in its entirety would require such extreme fierce heat. And this is going through your mind as well, Percy, being a man who understands this science very well. Something very bad had to have happened here a long time ago on a very large scale to render an island pretty much covered in glass. Do you think this is where they've knocked all down?
Starting point is 02:29:13 Oh. Didn't they fight Thor Dahl Dach in the ocean? In the ocean. That's what my thought was. Like with a dragon's breath? A dragon's breath would like fuse a small chunk of meat. What about like if a bunch of sorcerers and magic users got together and made like a big nuke? That's possible?
Starting point is 02:29:36 Very little chance there would be any survivors. Or a comet from the sky. sky, whichever is the correct term for that sentence. Even a comet wouldn't be enough. This is big. Key to your. And as you guys having this conversation, the mountain still stands, the jungle still stands,
Starting point is 02:29:59 though petrified and burnt. I know not the means that brought it to where it is, but it's been that way for as long as we have history on it. So longer than like a one, How long ago was that? A few hundred years ago. A while ago. I'm assuming the Archiburg, the Age of Arcaneum, if anything.
Starting point is 02:30:20 Okay. You said we have quarters on this ship. Do you mind if I sleep under the stars? Be my guest. Ruckin. I'm gonna commune with nature of my own way, fought the wind. I'm not far away from that. No one wants to join me, get all like hippie up on the deck.
Starting point is 02:30:39 I'll do that. I'll do that. I'll sleep out and drink it. We'll want to do. I actually do that as well, ever. I actually do, yeah. Right. Stars trinket. Beautiful.
Starting point is 02:30:48 Speaking of heat, make with the bed farts trink it. Get cold at night. Um, shit, there's a view. Well, Keeleith, make sure you learn your scrying spells for tomorrow. Do we still have that ball, the scry ball? Yep. Yeah. I do, I can't use me.
Starting point is 02:31:06 So we'll have two scries tomorrow if you learn the spell. It's once a day, right? I could theoretically do three scrys tomorrow. Ooh, nice. theoretically do fives guys tomorrow. Jesus. I don't know. Theoretically, 245.
Starting point is 02:31:18 I pay super close attention, but did, after we gave them the destination, did they tell us how long it would take to you? Three days. Three days. About. Depending on the weather. Cool.
Starting point is 02:31:29 All right. Okay, yeah. Okay. What if we pass over the ship in the night? Then we'll attack them in the night. How will we see them? Is there someone who stands watch at night? I mean, she knows we're getting where we're going,
Starting point is 02:31:44 so she'll let us know if we get there. Yeah, but we're looking for the boat, not for the island. The boat, the boat itself, there's work that always needs to be done, there'll be lights. It will be lit unless they are hiding. Can we alert one of us should we come upon a ship in the night or day, correct? Oh, the sh-
Starting point is 02:32:01 I will, I have to sleep at some point as well. Of course, but someone is awake at all time. Vishal, who is my second in command, will take over while I'm sleeping, and our shifts will be for the journey. But there will be someone here, along with a few hands taking shifts as well at all times. Just like...
Starting point is 02:32:14 I'd describe... What? I'd describe the ship to them. Oh. From what I've seen. Okay. But it's in the ocean, isn't it? And we're very high above it.
Starting point is 02:32:25 Do we want to go lower? Keep an eye on. Okay. Do we want to go lower? Yes. How high off the deck would you say? Off the sea? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:32:36 The deck of the sea? Three, maybe four feet. No, no. I don't know. A couple hundred feet? hundred feet? I don't know. You're the captain. Well, we're okay for now. High is fine. But once we get close to the archipelago, we want to make sure that we probably keep within 100 feet of the surface. I could take it into the ocean. This can work as a functional ship in the water. Oh.
Starting point is 02:32:56 Shut the hell. What of the same thing. Right. No, we want to stay out right now. Yeah. Good. All right. Duck boat. Well then, you seem weary enough. You have your rest and be rest assured. that will be at the tour destination as soon as this ship can carry us.
Starting point is 02:33:15 Nice. All right. I'm going to rest myself. He goes down to his quarters and Vichal takes out of Vichal, who is a mid-thirties, Rizzled kind of scruff on his chin, but put together well, hair parted to one side. Not a man of many words, but he takes over the helm and just keeps it going through the night. You guys go ahead and rest for the evening?
Starting point is 02:33:41 Yes. I'm going to meditate for an hour before bed, but yeah. Could I take a shot of the sand keg bottle? I would like to slowly start building up an immunity. All righty. Go ahead and make a Constitution saving throw grog. Meaning I would like to get fucked up on a regular basis. 29. 29.
Starting point is 02:34:04 You drink it, you feel. You drink it and you feel kind of the sparkling numbness beginning to just spread across your throat. It's strange, it's weird, it's exhilarating. It kind of triggers your adrenaline. And you almost go into a rage just from the instinctual reaction of that sort of chemical release in your brain. Should you hold it in place, and you sit the first second
Starting point is 02:34:24 and just stare as it slowly goes down your system and you feel the warm kind of curling burn from inside your belly of fine, fine alcohol gives you. And that little shimmer of of pins and needles down the back of your neck and your spine, and your vision begins to blur a little bit. And it takes you a lot of alcohol to get trash. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:34:43 You're a little buzzed. Sick. Righteous. Awesome. Well played, sand keg. And I go to sleep. With your nightcap, you are good to go. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:34:55 Looking into the stars. You finish meditation. Everyone else, go to rest, fine. Throughout the evening, you sleep. The last thing you see is the... before you go to bed is the edge of the seams of the mountain range late into the night, and what looks to be a small sparkle in a crescent shape. You ask one of the hands to the side. He points over and just says, let's see. This would be the Bay of Gifts.
Starting point is 02:35:26 This is the northern side where you see Chamele, the Port City is. That's the last little bastion of civilization of Marquette as it begins to approach from underneath as you all go to sleep. the continent is behind you. Whoa. How many hours has it been? When you come to consciousness after the evening's rest. I wanted to go to sleep like thinking,
Starting point is 02:35:50 I want to hold fentherus in my hand and just keep thinking about the things Sondor said. Okay. All right. After a good eight hour rest for all of you to recover yourselves, hit points, everything, spells. You come to it, the warmth of the sun is what kicks you into consciousness. It's been about, I'd say, 13 hours or so since you guys left.
Starting point is 02:36:23 Oh, since we're left, okay. Eight hours of rest. You had five hours of travel northward until you began to reach the end of the northern part of the continent on the sky ship. It's a cruise. This might be the best sleep that we've gotten in months. gotten in months at this point. Like babies. Is it morning time? Yes, morning time. You guys. Do that morning scry? Yeah, morning scry. Yeah, morning scry. I'm going to sit down with a pen and paper ready to write. A little, just to draw. We're going to be naval detections. Yeah, morning constitutional. Here we come. Buh. Bust out whatever magazines they have
Starting point is 02:37:04 A cup of coffee. A cup of coffee first. Exactly. All right, so, Dragon Fancy. Using the same journal? Um, I mean. Let's use the gun now. Let's go nuts.
Starting point is 02:37:20 Oh, now it's been decursed. Will that mess? She still held it. She's got a lot of her work in it. Yeah. Got her cooties all over it. Yeah, exactly. Are using the crystal first?
Starting point is 02:37:30 Uh, yeah. Crystal first. Yeah, don't use your shovel. Yeah. What's the Crystal DC? Because it's not your actual spell, which I should remember last one. Oh.
Starting point is 02:37:38 I should say. I mean, she rolled low enough last one and it wasn't an issue. But it actually doesn't say. It doesn't say. Okay, it should be 15, then. 5.0. All right. That's a natural one.
Starting point is 02:37:50 Ah. As you're concentrating on the sky spell, your vision once again is thrust the clouds thrown down over what looks to be the ocean. You see, for a brief moment, from a little bit looks like a cluster of land, of dark land, roughly in the shape of almost like a bean or a cashier from his perspective. And then it flashes downward and you can see a ship, a ship that is just on the water. It is stationary.
Starting point is 02:38:24 Docked. Like anchors down. Seemingly, it's not, it's not, the sails aren't up. The sails are down. And it's not at land, it's in the water. Yeah. your vision flashes again, and you can see the crew have all gathered on the deck, though their details of their visage obscured by the spell. You see Ripley there with her cloak. She is talking to the rest of the crew around and goes, all right, so we've located it. We have eight hours. Gather your things, and drink well. And they all pull out these small vials, uncork,
Starting point is 02:39:08 and drink down. Breathe on, yeah. They all nod, and one by one, start diving off the ship into the water. Five men and then, or five people, you're not sure of the sex, and Ripley. Dive off the side. You're following her as she goes and psh, under water.
Starting point is 02:39:33 You can see the bubbles go past, and the bubbles are no more, and you watch as she is now breathing the water like its air. and swimming downward, all of them are now carrying you see on the side. They have these heavy rock weights that are just letting them guide down deeper and deeper into the water as it gets darker and darker and darker until there's almost nothing to see. And then there's a flicker of light, and you see Ripley is now holding her gun, and there's a beam of light on the end of it that's giving them basically torchlight as they go deeper in and go deeper, deeper, deeper. Leaser sight.
Starting point is 02:40:08 Deeper. and deeper, and the spell fades. She's found it. She's there. She's got it. She doesn't have it. But she's found the ship, and she's right off the shore of the island. Can you scry again immediately and see what she? She's under the water. I mean, I could.
Starting point is 02:40:30 How is she under the water? They all took water breathing potions. Her plus five other people. Can we, were there any, was there any, was there any Anything around, could you see the island in sight? I saw the island. It was dark in landscape. It was so, it was such a brief shot, and it was it, because it wasn't the focus of the Scry spell.
Starting point is 02:40:52 Like, zoom in. Yeah, even the fact that you caught a glimpse of it was a strange side effect of the Scry attempt. Where was the sun with the island or was the sun away from the island? Is there any way to even just know that? Were they on the north side, the south side? from what you can gather at this time. Actually, as part of the scry spell, you wouldn't be able to tell.
Starting point is 02:41:16 I'm heading off to find the captain and the halfling to ask how far they estimate we are from the island. I heard Ripley say we have eight hours, which means a breathing, probably. That's how long the spell lasts. I have two of those vials of underwater breathing. That's fine, I've got a plan. I can, can you build a mansion.
Starting point is 02:41:36 Can you build a mansion? How many people can be cast them? How many people can cast them? As... Actually, probably only one because of... Water breathing. What he means the lab. Water breathing is a spell
Starting point is 02:41:47 lasts for 24 hours. The potion's only last for eight. Is it concentration? Nope. It grants up to 10 willing creatures you can see within range. Oh, no. What? Ten willing! Yeah.
Starting point is 02:41:57 That's... I'm un-willed. I got us unlocked, you guys. Never mind. I got us unlock. That's awesome. I had a plan. Every mind.
Starting point is 02:42:03 I'm putting it away. Yeah, so the potion enchantments are lesser than the spell. But they're, yeah, the actual druid spell effect is much better. So, Captain Hathlings. You see him kind of looking off the distance, you ask you the question, he goes, well, given that, that might still us down a little bit. Oh shit.
Starting point is 02:42:25 And you now see immediately visible from this point I'm a, uh, please do. Don't be a green dragon. Don't be a green dragon. Don't be a green dragon. Or a red one, or a Y one. Invisible dragon, a little one. Little one. The dragon is the easiest one.
Starting point is 02:42:39 What you are able to make out, because it's familiar sight to you, are very, very tall, dark, distant thunderheads. The storm that you saw in your first division keels apparently is still swirling its way through the middle of the ocean. Okay. It's violent, it's fissural, and you can see just the weight of the water, giving it this deep, dark gray color, and the rest of the ocean blows obscured. with a blur of rainfall. Key key. I go to. Those are high clouds.
Starting point is 02:43:12 I can't get above them. The enchantment is only so strong to get us into that thin air. So I recommend everyone hold on. Is there anything you can do about this? I can. Get us closer. What? Trust us, she's crazy.
Starting point is 02:43:26 Straight through. Back's his route, Captain. I trust you. He brings it around. I mean, he's pulling forward. You see he takes this small little like metallic rod in the side and put pushes it forward even further, and the crystals kind of flicker for a second, and it kind of leans.
Starting point is 02:43:42 The whole ship kind of leans a little bit. And forward direction. Star Trek it. It takes about an hour or so before the shade from the Thunderheads, which you can't even see where they stop. It just goes up and up and up and up. Begin to meet, and you're starting to see flashes and clouds of lightning. Kate? I go ahead and I start casting.
Starting point is 02:44:07 casting my first eighth level spell. Which is, disintegrate storm. Control weather. What? Really? Your storm. Yeah. Everything I've ever wanted, you guys.
Starting point is 02:44:24 Oh shit. How do you? Concentration for up to eight hours. Oh, yeah. So you guys watch as Keelov stands at the bow of the ship puts her arms out. And you see the flashes of lightning in the cloud? A bolt strikes her in one arm, and she just holds it in place.
Starting point is 02:44:42 The bolt kind of uses her as a conduit and then vanishes into her arm. Her other arm pulls another bolt to it, and it vanishes into her arm, and you can see the energy is now circling around. She brings her arms out and thrusts into the storm, and the lightning protrudes out of each arm, as it hits the clouds. The clouds seem to almost melt away and carve this central path in the center. The clouds are being pushed back. at Gale Force, these winds are just separating them.
Starting point is 02:45:11 And you watch, for five miles around you, the storm basically parts to nearly nothing, except for the very peripheral to the right and left side. You see Captain Neiman go, Okay, I see your point. Hot fucking damn, Keel. You know, I have to concentrate on this. But this is the first time I'm sure your girlfriend is way cool
Starting point is 02:45:37 than you. No, everyone knew that. It's not the first time. So pushing forward, Keel is just concentrating at the edge of the ship. Her eyes just... Just sparking with energy. You're almost like the mermaid at the front of the ship at this point. Totally.
Starting point is 02:45:53 Yeah. Like a reverse pyro. You're undoing all the violence here. The shade fades away in the clear blue sky above, then it invites these warm sunbeams of sunlight down upon the top of the ship. I just do some sunbathing. Yeah, I make it temperate, you know, with a nice warm breeze. Keelit, can you make the breeze behind us? And can you make it rather strong?
Starting point is 02:46:18 Can you make us travel faster? Can I do that? He's reading. He doesn't know he's reading. I just closed the spell. Well, wait, did you say you said it the last eight hours. He's just checking his house. He's just checking to see if that's a thing that will actually.
Starting point is 02:46:33 Check in his stocks. Okay, no, no. Message from mom. That is? Uh, uh. What you can do is you can clear the storm for five miles, and then I'll say suddenly change to a wind stage behind you. Yes, so you could do that. I'll let you do that. Sure. Make the wind in favor. Nice.
Starting point is 02:46:53 Yeah, girl. I'm drunk on power. So the wind begins to build from behind, and some of you have to kind of duck down now at this point, because it's starting to take, it almost takes your hat off again, when you're like, oh, catch it. Yeah. But it is picking up speed, and you guys are getting to Coast for... Occasionally the winds die down is you have to clear more at the storm, but over the next six or so hours,
Starting point is 02:47:18 you come out the other side of the storm clean. Go into like a deep meditation. This is like some Buddhist shit going on from here. Perfect. Wow. And as the storm subsides, your ship has a clear view of what appears to be distant breaks in the patterns of waves in the horizon. Multiple chained islands, many miles apart from each other, emerge.
Starting point is 02:47:47 This you've now begun to reach is the Hesbid Archipelago. Each of the 12 islands varying in size from massive rock to pebble-like protrusions. They span and are scattered, and the ship begins to veer to the left as the captain begins to zero in on your destination. He yells out, we're going low, we're going low. They have visibility. And the ship begins to go into a relatively steep decline. You can hear the wood kind of creaking with a sudden shift in direction and weight. The gem on the right side beginning to brighten while the one on the left begins to darken slightly just kind of simplifying the shift and energy and power. Eventually are brought down nearly coasting under the surface
Starting point is 02:48:39 of the ocean, and as you get to about 40, 50 feet above, you can see the waves begin to part beneath it as whatever force is holding it's there is now pushing the water down. He goes, oh, brings it up a little bit so it's not breaking the surface, and coasted it even 60 feet above. 60 feet. Pushing forward, you can already begin to see what you assume is the Isle of Glent Shore. In this clear, sunlit moment, you can also see throughout the ocean clusters of dangerous, jagged-looking reef, some 10, 15 feet below the surface, some actually breaching the surface of the ocean, some even deeper. But this portion of the ocean is like a maze network of every
Starting point is 02:49:29 ship captain's nightmare. And you get the feeling why we're one, this has become a favored place of criminals to avoid... Pursuers? Pursuers. And also why people who trade avoid it for many reasons, not just those who stay here. And also why the shipwreck probably found its way here, wherever the shrew may be. As you begin to glow closer to the island, you can see, as it begins to come more and more into form, there is a singular mountain peak that's kind of shifted mostly to the western side.
Starting point is 02:50:03 It's not a super peak. It's just kind of a gradual point. And you can see what looks to be a little bit of a brush-like detail, the jungle that you had heard for mentioned before. He begins to bring you up towards the southern shore of the island. And now at this point of perspective, the sunlight that's hitting the island is causing a glittery shift of thousands of points of light across the beach shoreline deep into the sun. where the blackened jungle tree line is. It's beautiful. It's a very strange and awe-inspiring sight to be such a small little forgotten part of land to look so pretty from this distance. And the close you get, the beauty begins to fade as you begin to see the black beaches. You can see the landscape is barren and broken. Aside from the ashen, gray, and black, jungle plants, and trees that have been left there dead for an extended period of time, and the mountain itself, the rock itself, going from black to a ruddy, red, and brown color. The sands themselves, and the glass surface across the eastern shore that tends to kind of reach out,
Starting point is 02:51:20 almost like a mouth of a creature, is rough and varied in topography. You also see within that bay a tiny little thing that looks like a ship. Are we close enough to see if there's people on the deck or not? You're not close enough. You're just barely now seeing that there's a ship. It's been six hours, you said, right? Since I did it must. It's probably about seven hours now since you did the spell. They're going to be coming out. They have one hour left. Unless they're already out.
Starting point is 02:51:52 Yeah, that's just the duration of the spell. It would be back already. If we're not there. If we have one hour left, they could fail. They could not find it at all. Could we just shoot the boat from above and destroy their escape? Yeah, could I make a song request.
Starting point is 02:52:05 We could also take it. Can we drop your big rocky ass from like 300 feet up right through the bottom of their ship and sink that bitch? Or lots to say there's nothing a ship doesn't like more than fire. Yes. I mean, all of these things are very appealing to me right now. I'm just trying to understand why. We can't let them escape.
Starting point is 02:52:24 The only way that they can leave then is on our ship. It's better than floating in the water than standing on the ship. And if they have a teleportation circle on the boat, we want to destroy it. She also has the cloak we want. Right. Yes. So we wait till she drowns and then we take it from her.
Starting point is 02:52:39 We can retrieve it from the bottom and see if we have to. What do we know about magical items? Do they get like destroyed by things like fire or me being here? Generally no. Magical items, part of the enchantment is to make them resistant to the general elements. Sort of Griffithor. They endure. and the reason that you find mostly just the enchanted objects
Starting point is 02:52:59 in ancient, ancient ruins, is because everything that would be destroyed by the weathering of time, these items stay relatively pristine. Then yes, I'm down to fuck this shit up. Mm-hmm. I wonder if she hired the boat or if it's hers. Five. I would hate to kill innocent crew members.
Starting point is 02:53:17 I don't think they're innocent crew members. I think she had help. She had five killers with her when she killed those. That's true. I mean, this is a woman of... They're all down there looking for an object. Should we... You did, for the record, in your Scrying thing,
Starting point is 02:53:29 while there were five that left down with her, there were more on the ship. Oh. It's fine. We'll throw them a life raft or something. Then I'd just like to put my vote in for the meteor. They're also in the bay, so they can swim to shore. It's true. Wait, what?
Starting point is 02:53:46 They are in the bay, so they can always swim to shore. But we can stop their retreat. Indeed. They're going to be in worse shape without that boat. Just want to send a message. to the ship. It's all here. It's bomb it. Just come on. We should probably We're heading there already. The captain's like,
Starting point is 02:54:00 what do you want me to do? Do you want me to head for the ship? Up above the ship. Up above the ship. Up above the ship. And Vax rides keeleth down like Dr. Strange Love, the whole way. I mean, yeah. We're going to take a lot of damage? Yeah. For him. He can fly. He can fly.
Starting point is 02:54:21 Can you cast a water breathing on us? before you fly down and that way? Or is that gonna fuck up your spells? No. It's not a concentration spell, right? Which one? Water breathing? No, it's not concentration.
Starting point is 02:54:34 And it lasts a long time. 24 hours. So just in case we end up in the water. More ideas from Krofenoff up. We have 10. We have 10 people, 12 people. Last song request. Yes.
Starting point is 02:54:45 We destroy the ship, right? They all come up to the top. Yeah. They gotta go one place, which is where? Sure. so why aren't we waiting on the shore? Well, do we want to drop your ass off on the shore? Oh, yeah, I'd love to be a welcoming party. I'm just saying, like, if anybody else wants to come with,
Starting point is 02:55:03 that's where I know they'll be going. I'm hoping to take care of this before the ship even sinks. I'm going to be death from above on the broom. I would love to have her hanging from a line. This is my favorite plan. We've come up with it a long time. We should probably make sure that this is the right boat. Yes, yes, yes, yes.
Starting point is 02:55:18 We need to double check that this is actually the boat. Does this appear... Are you going to wait and to get closer? We're talking. We're moving. Is there a telescope on the ship? There is one that you've been using even have... Just in case shit happens like as soon as we get close to the ship.
Starting point is 02:55:34 This is the boat. Dispel? No, the the breathing spell. Oh. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. What's our ETA cap'n? At this speed, I'd say 20 minutes. Oh shit.
Starting point is 02:55:45 All right. Oh shit. All right. Let's do this. Ten minutes. Because I like to milk my time. All right. Ten minutes go by.
Starting point is 02:55:59 Who is keeping watch through the... The... Me. All right. Go make perception check. Wait, but Keeleth knows what the boat looks like. She told me all about it. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:56:12 Have fun. I do wish. Um, 25. 25. All right, you're scanning cross. Looking at the ship, the sails are up. It is anchored. And there are, what looks to be maybe four individuals who are currently playing cards on the upper deck.
Starting point is 02:56:32 It looks like a boat's been docked there for a while. Yeah. You also notice you just scan in the area and it catches your eye. There's a very lazy, very, very faint trail that looks like smoke on the shore of the kind of sea-shaped bay on the eastern side of the island. Camp of some sort?
Starting point is 02:56:53 A camp? A camp? Like a camp on the shoreline? That might be a source for the smoke. Is it close by the boat? No, that's it. It's in... If you're looking from your perspective, this is the eastern side and it has this kind of sea-shaped bay right here where this is the shoreline.
Starting point is 02:57:11 The ship is kind of docked right about here in the water. And it's surrounded by reef. It's just barely made its way in there. And it can't go any further without hitting reef. And the smoke is... right there. It's right on the beach side. Can we see the other side of the island or the water on the other side from this vantage point?
Starting point is 02:57:28 No, not from this vantage point. We have two swine. Can you scry? And see if she's... Underwater. If she's still underwater, if she's camping, because I see smoke. Can Keyleth look through the... Do we have a telescope of some sort?
Starting point is 02:57:43 There is a telescope, yeah. Did she look and see if the boat looks right? Did you see any identifying marks on the boat? Not like there's gonna be a dozen of the map. Yeah, it'd be a very big. big coincidence. That would be ridiculous. I looked through the telescope, it was literally the same boat. Reception check. Roll high. I did. I rolled in 18, so 29. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:58:04 Yes, this is very much the boat. Eyes, colors, shade, placement, this is the same ship, yeah. That way, we're getting ready to kill a cruise ship. Okay, so am I scrying? No, there's no point. Well, I guess you don't need to know. Well, I guess we'd know if she's still under water or if she's on land. There's people on the boat waiting still. It might be a long land. You are 10 minutes from getting there.
Starting point is 02:58:26 It takes 10 minutes to cast scrying. Geez. No. We don't need it. But you should probably cast breathing. I mean, it takes me 30 seconds to cry once I get there. Let's cry. What's wrong? Let's cry.
Starting point is 02:58:37 Go forth. I'm going to scry. I'm going to scry. I'm going to scry. I'm going to cast water breathing. And then I'm going to cry. Wait. Can you do me a favor? I'm dishing them out.
Starting point is 02:58:45 I'm the magic ATM right now. What do you want? You can breathe out of the water, right? Once we're somewhat in the distance. Yes. an eyeball and get a good look at that ship. I will, yes. I want to see if it's a trap. Okay. You have an arrow. Yes, I do. You can look through. Once we get close enough. Once we get close enough. Okay, so go to everybody and I say, you have water breathing. You have water breathing.
Starting point is 02:59:09 You have water breathing. You have water breathing. Julia Roberts! Julia Roberts! Hey! And everyone has water breathing. Then I go, everyone leave me alone for ten minutes, and I drop down. and I scry. Okay. So you begin concentrating as you guys get closer and closer to the ship.
Starting point is 02:59:29 You can now see it getting closer, closer. Do we want to raise our elevation as we're getting closer? Yeah, we told them to go up above it. You guys, because notice, you have actually looking through the people that are playing cards begin to start moving on the deck of the ship.
Starting point is 02:59:43 They start scattering. Are they seeing us? They have seen you. Oh, yeah. You're not a hard vision to see once they pay attention. Yeah, we're a big ship. Do they look like they're looking over the sides of the boat?
Starting point is 02:59:55 Roll perception check. Red target. It's like the Hindenburg flying up to a rowboat. No, they don't look like they're looking over the side of the boat? No. Okay. You're starting to get closer and closer. You watch as they all kind of scatter into the bottom of the boat except for one who stands on the deck. Oh, it's a magic user. And then you watch, this one sparkle of bright red archa energy just kind of shh up into the sky. A flare. The dull burst exploding sound and then vanishes. The explosion dissipates.
Starting point is 03:00:35 It's a flare. Yeah, it's a flare. To warn the people on... On the smoky side. Another one. Okay, okay, okay. Shit. How do we get to land quickly? I can fly there on my room, but I don't fly very quickly. Are we close enough that one of your hours can make it? Can I? Are we? No, no, you're about three minutes out now from approaching it. The ship or the shore?
Starting point is 03:00:57 You fly? The ship, shit. We should split. Some should go to the beach, and some should continue with plan drop. I'm going to the beach. I can't, I can't. How are you getting to the beach? You can't fly. Oh. You can, once we're close enough, you can port them down.
Starting point is 03:01:14 I can make you a thing. that flies just to get you there. What kind of thing? I don't know. Giant Eagle. Oh, you're really better. A teradaxal. Yeah, that sounds like our only option, yeah.
Starting point is 03:01:29 Three more minutes of scrying still? Alright. Maybe the scrying was still timed. Two minutes. Yeah. Oh, geez. All right, you and me, come on, let's go. Okay.
Starting point is 03:01:38 Oh, geez. What are you? I ready the broom. I get on the broom and just wait. Okay. I'm telling the men, prepare the harpoons, it may be a trap. Understood. Man the harpoons.
Starting point is 03:01:48 And you see they all kind of run off to the various, the three different dragon arbalistations. Prepare for a hard turn to shore if they begin to show any signs of magical attack. Understood. You can now see the captain's kind of gone into war mode now and he's just keeping focus forward as he's pushing the ship. How do we communicate with the captain once we're off the ship?
Starting point is 03:02:10 Should we give an airing? It won't reach. It's too much. Yes. Um, I, Grog, I can make you a thing that flies, should I? Yes. All right, I'm making him a giant eagle. using polymorph.
Starting point is 03:02:21 All right. I can't do it to me though, so you're on your own. Well, you can hop on his back. Oh yeah, oh yeah, good call. On the big egg eagle. Second time, now the wings flare out and you remember, oh, flying. I can't think again.
Starting point is 03:02:35 I'm smarter. And use your, and I also three flowers for Algernon moment comes in the form of a feather bird. A square plus B square equals C square. No, it doesn't. Scanlon, you have to rush to there because he's almost completely taken back by the moment and just goes to fly and you're
Starting point is 03:02:53 like, oh, you catch him just barely as he leaps off the side of the ship. You guys head off towards the... In a wide arc. Yeah. Yeah. I tell the captain, no matter what happens, use your judgment with any man or sailor who wishes to Palais and come aboard. But if any woman attempts to come on board, you do not recognize as one of us. Kill her, kill her immediately. What if she's looking like nothing but a... Anybody that comes on board, lock them up immediately. At the very least. Truth them is extremely hostile. Check for a fake arm and remove it.
Starting point is 03:03:24 Loud and clear. I tell Trinket to hop in the necklace because we're gonna be traveling very quickly, dear. Into the necklace. I'm trying to use the scope on my, on my big, bad news to see if anything interesting is happening on the deck. Can I see the person who's such firing the flares? The person that's now fired three flares
Starting point is 03:03:45 is now running below the deck. All right. They're all below the deck. seemingly everybody is below the deck right now, yes. It's a trap. Let's move away from the ship, move towards the beach. What? We're going to sink the ship. We're going to sink the ship from a distance.
Starting point is 03:04:01 She's still scrying. They might be by the ship. I tell them to turn. Turn now. I, aye. I shoot the arrow and try to get to the boat, the Oracle arrow. The ship suddenly against the list very heavily to the left side. All the hands grab hold who are currently stationed at the various elements. You can see things in the deck.
Starting point is 03:04:19 ropes and various odds and ends, pieces of metal, coins all begin just drifting to one side, some tumbling over into the ocean below. You all hold on tight as you pull around the side. Keeleth, I need to make a concentration check. I'm so sorry. Oh, come on. Bailing on this plan.
Starting point is 03:04:37 It was a great plan. Why is they all down below? I'm giving you advantage because it isn't a huge issue. They don't want to get attacked by us. Constitution says, why are they down below? What are they going to do? They don't have anything that can fight us. What do I have?
Starting point is 03:04:49 Constitution's aiming for them. Okay, okay. To hide. There's no hiding in the middle of ship. It's a death sentence. Okay, thank God. As it's turning all of a sudden, your eyes flare open with the vision.
Starting point is 03:05:01 Oh, God. So this is not with the journal, correct? Because you're... She's got my gun. Yeah, so what's your spell DC? Is it with the gun, right? 19 plus, okay. You...
Starting point is 03:05:18 Vision flashes, and for a second, your vision focuses on Ripley's face. and you see a spark of blue energy similar to the inside of the cloak that you saw with the first hemivision and spell kicks out. Son of a bitch! Was it underwater?
Starting point is 03:05:37 Can you at least tell that much? No. Good, good times. And you find yourself sliding. Are we above the ship at the moment? I grab Vax for safety. All right, you guys kind of hold on. The ship turns. Very quick turn.
Starting point is 03:05:54 Heading toward. heading towards the shore. All right. The smoke? But what? We still need to get... We are. We've got two flyers and I'm going to...
Starting point is 03:06:02 And I think it's just time to... We're going to attack them if we can attack them with the bolts, if that's possible. Percy, I... If you give them the or... I can destroy that ship if we get over it. Let's do... I think we should still go. Are we firing? Let's go.
Starting point is 03:06:15 What do you need? Keelith, are you ready? Let's go. I go with that. I go with vans. They're going to go. I'm going to fire on the ship. Fire on the ship. Fire!
Starting point is 03:06:24 He yells out. You watches the... I'll pull back and as they release it they have these giant um like hard dark iron bolts that are loaded into these as they release them they go traveling through the dragon's mouth the dragon's mouth bursts into flame and light the bolt into fire all launch off and arc downward one of the misses in the water but two go slamming into the side of the ship you see wood splintering you see flames begin to crawl on the side while Both of you, what are you doing? I'm holding on to him. Piggyback ride style. I'm on the, I'm on your back or piggyback? No, I'm on yours.
Starting point is 03:07:03 Aren't you going Earth elemental? I gotta get over the fucking back. Here we go. Wow! All right, so as you say this, you leap off, wings go out, coasting down over the ship. You begin to glide on as you can see the explosions. They begin loading up the second round of assaults on a ship.
Starting point is 03:07:19 You arc around, keeping her on your back. You guys are coming down towards the ship. You now watch us, boom, Another volley, two missed, but a third one hits. Another splinter of various beasts of the ship bows just torn as under. I wait until he gets me over top of the boat. As soon as he gets me over top. You coast up on the side.
Starting point is 03:07:35 You watch as one of the three large masses begins to slowly fall over from the impact of the various assaults from the ship. You are now up over the ship itself. You're ready to do this? Nice and high. All right, we're going to twist in the air. Here we go. As this is happening, you see one of them has come up over from the inside of the ship and it's watching this attack happen. You can just barely, he looks hairy whatsoever.
Starting point is 03:07:58 He looks on watching the deck. What? And releases. I let go. We're over the boat? You guys are over the boat now, yes. Is there any way I could have gotten any of the semiscope? You know what? Yes.
Starting point is 03:08:09 We'll make perception check. Make perception check first, actually, to see if you've seen this. As we're twisting in there, I cast Bless on Keelith and myself. All right. Okay. What is that? 14. Make a concentration check because you are flying.
Starting point is 03:08:22 All right, that's a... Constitution saving throw. 18. All right. And that means that you and I, whenever we make an attack roll or a saving throw for the next minute at a default. Cool. All right. 14.
Starting point is 03:08:37 14. You can make the attack. It'll be a disadvantage. That's fine. The distance. I'll take it. It's a disadvantage on the attack. Are using any grit or anything?
Starting point is 03:08:49 Why is you not cool? I'm already cheek as it is. Are you using it? You need to be great or anything on this. Yeah, you know what? I'll use a, I'll use a grit for a, to dead eye the shot to cancel out the disadvantage. Okay, all right.
Starting point is 03:09:08 Go ahead, make it roll. Let me make sure I. Who are you shooting? The guy on deck who just went like this. Oh, I thought he already ran under. He came up onto the deck to do something. He just barely saw and he's taking a shot. That's not bad.
Starting point is 03:09:24 24. 24 hits. Go ahead. Bullet cam. You find the correct ice. For some reason, Morgan Freeman's there. Right about that time, I shot the man on the deck of the ship. Or Randy Dupre.
Starting point is 03:09:38 23 points of piercing damage. How much do they pay? That energy. The Indecentral reaches up and you see a burst of electrical energy fire up in the direction of both of you right as headshot in the side of the skull, sending them face down and bleeding onto the now raging fire that is the top of this ship.
Starting point is 03:09:59 Both of you guys have advantage on a dexterity saving through. All right. Oh, wait, that's you. He still got a shot off, but they went wild. Natural 20. Yeah, and I have a 28. All right. All right.
Starting point is 03:10:13 So both of you take 14 points of lightning damage. As the lightning bolt just barely skims past you, Vax you scooting off, your wings kind of, you know, burned by the electrical impact, but you're, impact but you're off the side. Kilith, you are now in free fall over the ship. Can I use evasion? Yeah.
Starting point is 03:10:30 Go for it. So that's, if I succeed the decks, I get, yeah, that's every turn. 17. Or seven, seven. So it halves it, right? Yeah. It was 14 because you made the save and then... Yeah, man.
Starting point is 03:10:41 I blow Vaxa kiss. Aw. And then I go Earth Elemental. I have my flaming hands. Oh. Go key to her. See you later. As you're key to you, as you coined it, is now this ball of it condensed rock, just
Starting point is 03:11:04 trail a flame behind it. Just slams into the ship. I want you to go ahead and roll 6D6 points of damage. Plus a D4. Right? Yes. 6D6. We need some, now you have enough. One, two, three, four, five. There's got to be one more case. You've got a, you've got a, oh, I do.
Starting point is 03:11:23 Do you see that? Don't fuck me. Oh, that's fun. I don't know which ones you roll. Well, all of them. All of them. All of them. All of them.
Starting point is 03:11:33 All of them. Plus X is 12. Couple. Couple good. Couple bad. Which is 17, 18. 21. Is that plus the default?
Starting point is 03:11:43 One. One. 21. Oh, wait. 22. Plus do I roll my flame hands? 27. You punch through the upper deck of the
Starting point is 03:11:58 upper deck of the ship, smack through the central deck of the ship and slam into the base, splintering wood, but the actual bottom of the ship is still intact. However, from the impact on the flames trail through begin to burn, you see as looking down at you, one of the crewmen who is underneath is now a pulp beneath your elemental feet. And another one is now scrambling back up at the top and midst the chaos. I gotta get up when I say sorry. As you pull your foot out, water begins to fore inside. Apparently your feet punched through. And now it's beginning to quickly just, this water's beginning to pour out of the ocean
Starting point is 03:12:41 and fill the bottom of the ship. I tell the guys above, swim the shore. It sounds like, ah! Wow, this is happening. Can I have taken a flying run off of the airship and like start flying towards the smoke, the campfire? Yep, you dart off with the broom underneath and scoot off towards the bay. You guys have made your way flying down on Eagle Grog back to the beach, coasting up to the side.
Starting point is 03:13:14 And you can see as you kind of scoot across the top about 10 feet up all the jagged broken glass that is this beach. It is similar to the broken... burnt ground of the Sinder Grove, except for it's all sharp. It's not fun. You come around and you begin to see, make perception check, Grog. With your bonus, I think you have advantage on this because you're a giant eagle. Let me double check real fast, I'm pretty sure. Giant Eagle, you have advantage on perception checks. So yeah, well twice. Same number. And do I get a bonus? Well, your wisdom is plus two. So plus total. 15. 15. As you're coming along, you do see. there appears to be some semblance of a smoldering fire that is giving off the hint of the trail of smoke. There's a couple of things kind of on the ground around it,
Starting point is 03:14:07 and there are two small boats that are up against, up onto the shore. It looked like a little skiffs or paddle boats that probably belong to the ship. I fly over, I'm gonna make a low buzz over the campfire, but keep going along the beach. not landing at the boat toward the fire. You keep going. Vex, you go ahead and see the eagle kind of swoop past with scamping on the back. You kind of, are you heading to catch up with them? Yeah. Okay, so you guys have Vex coming and meeting up alongside you guys now as you're flying, just kind of coasting.
Starting point is 03:14:42 From the side, you see this broom riding Vex, because I've just leaned forward, go over and give you kind of a wing from the side as you begin heading along in the upper coast, the curvature of the beach, heading towards the east. Um, Thaks Kielith, I'm just, just search the ship, take anything you think might be hers. Uh, how far am I from? Breathe underwater. Percival in the airship. Uh, you're probably looped around, and you're in, you're probably halfway between the ship, which is now heading back towards the shore, and the boat on the ground that is now, uh, both masts are now incomplete flames. The sail is on fire. Uh, two of the crewmen,
Starting point is 03:15:16 the two crewmen who haven't really been hurt, um, have, you know, jumped off the sides and are now swimming through the water. You can see their trail behind them. The one who was shot in the head, you can't see through the flames. It wasn't enough to kill him. No. That wasn't. However, the whole ship is on fire now, and the one that you impacted with is a mess. Then I'm belining straight to the air towards Percival. Okay. Stay with Keyleth. Check the ship. Check the ship, Keyleth. Search it. Make an investigation check. Me. You're up? Yeah. You can still hear him. He's telling you this.
Starting point is 03:15:54 Yeah, through the earring. Papers, captains quarters you can breathe under water. Just tear it apart as it's going down. As an Earth elemental, roll investigation minus three, because your intelligence is five. Wow. Your intelligence is five. Yeah, you are dumber than grog as an Earth elemental.
Starting point is 03:16:12 Natural toy! Oh, that's so loud. There's no reason that should have happened. I agree. As water is filling the bottom and you're kind of like just, you're not very good at shredding water in this form. You're sinking with the ship, pretty much.
Starting point is 03:16:32 This is a hard request. Thankfully you can breathe water because you saw the enchantment on you. But glancing around, you do see what amounts to a bunch of notes, papers that are all soaked in water that you just kind of like palm with your elemental hand and keep it there. Grab a couple.
Starting point is 03:16:50 And you now have two fisting. filled with papers. You don't know what they are, what's on them. You can't even read in this form, technically. But you're now underwater and the ship is breaking and falling, and you can watch as the flames above, the glow is growing dimmer as the water is beginning to take the fire. It's slowly falling into the bay. Stop walking to the beach, Keyleth. Get to the beach. Yes, I guess I start into the beach. Okay, so... Well, that's gonna take a long.
Starting point is 03:17:20 That's gonna take a long time, right? That's a slow walk. Okay, okay, the ship is sinking, right? Yeah. It's like done. Yeah, you're probably now, the ship's probably 30 feet below the surface and falling, you with it.
Starting point is 03:17:33 I am going to drop my form. Okay, you're back in a keylet's form, and immediately the lack of mass, the ship begins to kind of fall below you as you kind of keep buoyancy now, and the hole that you broke through is now this opening that you can kind of swim up
Starting point is 03:17:49 to get out of the wreckage of the ship. Okay, I take all the papers, and I kind of shove them in like a pocket. Okay. And I'm going to cast control water, and I'm going to shoot myself up and out. Like a water spout. You watch as Kielf is jettisoned out of the ocean,
Starting point is 03:18:04 and then begins to just lightly surf along the surface, just standing. Percy, Percy, yes. Make sure the airship stays far away from these boats. I don't want Ripley having any access to the airship. On the beach.
Starting point is 03:18:22 We're going to, we're going along the beach. Is there a tree line? The tree line is further inland. Maybe about 300 feet inland. Most of the open glass shore is on the eastern southern side. On the north and northwestern side is where the mountain is, and the jungle kind of surrounds most of the mountain. And a lot of the western side of the island.
Starting point is 03:18:45 I sort of shout down to Grog. I don't think she's on the beach, man. It's all glass. We should go inland. We turn inland. Okay, you guys go ahead and just take on inland. Am I closing on Percy? You are making your way towards the ship, yeah.
Starting point is 03:18:59 Yeah. The ship is faster than you. Really? Yes. I click my boots of haste then. I can go 500 feet in a round. 500 feet? 480, yeah, if I use.
Starting point is 03:19:11 Because double dash. Double dash, yeah. Action, action, bonus action. Well, your flying speed is what? It's 60? I mean, I did the math at one point. I know it's 480 feet. Uh, my speed flying is 60.
Starting point is 03:19:23 You can dash as a bonus action, right? As a bonus, but if I'm hasted, it's doubled. So it's 120 action, action, bonus action. So 120 plus 120. Right, 240. And then bonus action, I can also dash. I don't know. You can catch up to the ship with haste.
Starting point is 03:19:42 All right. So you click your boost of haste and shh, all of a sudden, your wings, the feathers themselves almost thin out. like they kind of almost retract in, and you become less of a bird and more of a bullet. And just kind of coasting forward at a downward arc, you eventually catch up to the back outer side of the airship as it's bearing down on the smoke spiral
Starting point is 03:20:06 and the innermost part of the Bay Beach Line. Okay, I'm going to pick you up, you haughty prick, and I reach out my arms and grab him from behind. Okay. Ah! Y'all, you almost drop bad news at the sudden I'm peck, but you grab it and hold on to it, as you lifted up again over the air.
Starting point is 03:20:23 You still have gone. I do saw your gun. Another uncomfortable height experience. You've had a couple of these recently. Yeah. But it's swift enough to the point and not prolonged to the point where you're able to kind of keep yourself in check. You begin to carry him down.
Starting point is 03:20:37 Barrel roll and follow my sister. Okay. So now all of you guys are this kind of loose squadron along the beach line. As you watch, they turn off and begin to head towards the tree line. Can I get a closer look at the campsite? You'd have to stop and inspect it if you want. Is there anybody that I can see around it from above?
Starting point is 03:21:04 Exception check. Zs 13, then. Whoa. From what you can see, the campsite, the fire has the smoldering element and from your experience with campfires means it's probably been burning for anywhere from four to five hours and it's towards the very end of its life. Whatever wood was in there is like on the very, very last cinders. There appear to be some elements and details, some heavy movement right around it in the shoreline there.
Starting point is 03:21:29 There's a little bit of silt that has washed up onto the glass. So right next to the water line, there is still kind of a meeting of underwater dirt and silt and where the glass begins to take over. And you can see a bunch of shifting in that area, but you're too far away to make out any of details. But other than that, you don't see any hint of people or life around that site. Can Scanlan and I make a loop heading towards the tree line and then stop, I'd say, 100 feet from where the water hits the shore? Okay, so you head to the tree line and then you stop at 100 feet out? About halfway between the shore and the tree line.
Starting point is 03:22:08 Right, yeah, not all the way. Yes, you hit there, and you end up stopping. Land. Land. And you kind of land in the one area where it appears the least painful to land on. Now, for all intents and purposes, this entire landscape is considered rough terrain. So your speed is halved. You can run full speed if you want, but you will take damage. Lego.
Starting point is 03:22:29 It's all made of little Lego. Kind of, yeah. Oh. So you landscan, you're on the back of Grog, and you're now standing in the center of this open, kind of beach area. I'm scanning around for any footprints or anything. As he's scanning, I peck him in the shoulder. Ow, ow, fuck. Ow!
Starting point is 03:22:46 So we've all kind of convened on the shore at this point? I pick you in the shoulder. How? You see them land kind of a little ways off on the shore. Vex's, are you landing with them? No, I wanted to fly down a little closer and see if I can see any kind of footprints
Starting point is 03:22:59 and see where they leave away from the camp. So watch Vex spiral off and head to the actual campside at the edge of the beach. What are you doing? Keyless, can you meet up with us? Yeah, I'm meeting up with them on the shore, I guess. At the campfire. Yeah, I'm a Vax backpack, so we'll just...
Starting point is 03:23:13 At the campfire. Yeah. Campfire. So you guys, come down and land at the campfire, just as you watch Keele of kind of water skiing right up to the edge of the beach where you kind of, as soon as the water ends, you're like, oh, have to catch yourself. Oh, cool. Squad goals.
Starting point is 03:23:30 Did you catch yourself? I'm cool. As you now stand here at the beach, the little hints of the flaming wreckage of the ship in the distance just finally sinking below the surface of the water. The gallant eagle grog standing off a little ways with Scanlan short halt, kind of raising a fist of the air around. We're going to end our session.
