Starting point is 00:00:00 Insurance isn't one-size-fits-all, and shopping for it shouldn't feel like squeezing into something that just doesn't fit. That's why drivers have enjoyed progressives' name-your-price tool for years. With the name-your-price tool, you tell them what you want to pay, and they show you options that fit your budget. Enough hunting for discounts, trying to calculate rates, and tinkering with coverages. Maybe you're picking out your very first policy. Or maybe you're just looking for something that works better for you and your family. Either way, they make it simple to see your options. No guesswork, no surprises.
Starting point is 00:00:34 Ready to see how easy and fun shopping for car insurance can be? Visit progressive.com and give the name your price tool a try. Take the stress out of shopping and find coverage that fits your life on your terms. Progressive Casualty Insurance Company and Affiliates. Price and coverage match limited by state law. And welcome to tonight's episode of Critical Role where a bunch of us, voice actors sit around and play Dungeons and Dragons, or are a little late on the draw when shouting their phrase out, Travis Willingham.
Starting point is 00:01:02 Anyway, before we get into tonight's episode, let's go ahead and jump into our announcements. Let's see here. We've got a new game called Injustice 2 that just came out. What is this Injustice? Tell us about it. It's a silly old game. Is that the shapes and pie making game? Do you play it with the kitchen bakery?
Starting point is 00:01:24 It's like cooking. I watched a video today of you and you, It's so great, which was pretty exciting. Yeah, we have all the flashes covered, I think, on our dash. Yeah, all the flashes are on this show. So do you guys play? I play Barry Allen. I play for first flash.
Starting point is 00:01:40 What's his name? Eobart Thon. Great. I play Supergirl. Hey! Hey! I play Tim Garrick. Jay Garrick.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Jay Garrick. Jay Garrick. Jay Garrick. I wear a tin pailed for a helmet. It's pretty slick. It's the World War I. It's the one one. One flash I don't know really.
Starting point is 00:02:01 Next Halloween, man. He plays tennis with himself. Just saying. Oh my God. I love a picture of you wearing that hat. Oh my God. Yes, please. Yes, make that happen.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Please, it would be great. And I play Dead Shot. Yeah. Yeah, check it out. It looks really good. They had us all do really intense official motion capture, which is even funnier, considering that my character wears a mask the whole time.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Did it really make you do that? Yeah. With a mask? Well, not with a mask on my face. No, no, I mean, but like, yeah. That would have been even better. I assume that would be like a DLC costume where he doesn't have a mask.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Or they just did it to fuck with me, which I respect either way. They're out in the booth going, we're not getting any of this. I know. Don't tell him, let it roll. Let it roll. Just draw a dick butt on his forehead.
Starting point is 00:02:43 It's fun. Those bright lights are just flickering in their face. Yeah, I know. I know. So check it out. It's out now. It's fun. Apparently what I've seen of it looks
Starting point is 00:02:53 really cool. I've played a little. It's fun. They got their RPG in my fighting game, and that's right up my alley. Yeah. All right, also, because it's coming up real fast, reminder, MammaCon, May 25th, the 28th. Mamalcan, Mamalcan.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Talon, Marisha, myself and Brian W. Foster are going to be there for A Talk to Mocken to Panel as well as other events throughout the weekend. So look forward to seeing you there in Atlanta, Georgia, weekend after this one. Also, I will be at Acon once again, June 8th to the 11th in Fort Worth, Texas. Come say hello to me there. Remember that Tox Machina is live on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Pacific time here on Twitch and Alpha. The submission email has changed. So to submit your GIF and or fan art of the week, use Submit.
Starting point is 00:03:40 Submit. Submit. Submit. Submit. Submit. Submit. So that is Submit. Submit. Submit. 1.1.1 submit, not two. That's just my psychosis. Submit. Submit, submit. Yes. Anything else anyone else to talk about? Are we good? Move on to the game for the night. Um, oh, Farnpoint came out.
Starting point is 00:03:59 So if you have PlayStation Virtual Reality System, then you can get FarrPoint and I play Dr. Eva Tyson on it, and it's actually a really freaking cool game, so. It's fun, you shoot things with a gun. It was like a really cool script and stuff, so I like the story a lot. That's not how guns work. Are we talking about next week? Are we talking about next week?
Starting point is 00:04:19 Oh yeah, we should tell that too. That's a big one. That's a big one. That wasn't the list. So yeah, so we're missing two cast members next week. Guess who? What? That's terrible.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Yay! But given the circumstance, instead we're going to have a non-numbered episode next week. Instead, it looks like we're going to throw in for a new higher-level battle royale for those who will be here. To see now how some of these higher-level abilities function. You won't be there to put like base in lava this stuff. Base in lava this time. I'll just like myself to do that. I know, you guys, I won't be there, so. Wilfredel won the first one. She won the last one.
Starting point is 00:05:00 I've never done it. I've never done it either. Yeah. And you're doing it is Terry? It's up to you. You could choose. You can actually choose. Are you going to bring like scanners? Choose to do it as a weapon. No, not playing a bunch of games. All right, Terrian's going to die in five seconds.
Starting point is 00:05:13 So if we loot Terry's body, do we get all of his stuff? It's not in canon. No, even not in canon. In the game. Oh, if you go to his body while after he's dead, you can grab any You are a loop-drop? As long as it's not attunement, as long as it's not attunement, you can use it. Is the helmet attuned? It is.
Starting point is 00:05:31 I believe it is, yes. Probably, yeah. Sorry. But we can just steal all of his jewels just for the sake of it. There you go, and in the ultimate universe version, you are just decked out. Do I get Doty in the fight? Yeah. Okay, that helps.
Starting point is 00:05:41 And you be leveled up to their level. And you'll be leveled up to their level. Yeah. Oh, shit. Yeah, we level up for that. So we'll see. Anyway, that'll be next week. That pushes our 100th episode to June 8th.
Starting point is 00:05:53 And it looks like we're confirmed for June 1st for our next guest, I believe. Yes, yes we are. We are confirmed for that. Are we announcing that? Yeah, sure. Oh, well, on June 1st, our next guest, John Heeter, aka Napoleon Dynamite, is going to come play with us. That's going to be a little absurd. It's going to be fun. My mother has never been so proud of me.
Starting point is 00:06:16 I know. Did we already say that because next week is being, it's a battle royal, that means our 100th episode? Pushed to the 8th, yes. Okay, you already said that? I did. Was I busy rolling Dyson talking? You were. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:06:28 But thank you, Lorice. Good looking out. I appreciate that. So yeah, I think that's all the major news. And given that, let's go ahead and dive into tonight's episode of Critical Role. Hello and welcome back, everybody. So, last time when we left off, Vox Machina, upon working on working on the work on the work on their bakery at the Slayer's Cake in Whitestone,
Starting point is 00:08:24 made a possible new hire who turned out to be a bounty hunter, a Drow Bountyter named Kieran, who was sent here to acquire Terry and Darington and bring him back home to his city of Diasdok and Wildmount. You guys all through a series of high-level magic scrying and transportation managed to cut off this specific bounty hunter on the outskirts of the city and in doing so made an agreement to not slay her where she stood
Starting point is 00:08:57 and instead possibly make a transaction down the road. You guys then made your way into the city of Deostock to the Darington estate and were led up into the study of Howard Darington, father of Teryan, in which you all discussed the reasons of why he was brought the current financial state of the family and the intent to resolve and remedy longstanding sins of the father through you standing up and doing your family duty from his perspective. We left off as you guys had just finished that conversation. You had exited his study and we're about to go about your business. So coming off of the tension of the conversation, you You close behind you at the clack, the heavy wooden doors of Howard's study. There you have
Starting point is 00:09:56 Bert Hold, who's kind of standing off to the side, the dragon-born servant of the Darrington family, waiting patiently. You all, at this moment, are at your own disposal. What do you wish to do? Just before we move, the names that Dad had told us of about to maybe parlay with in the myriad. Korshad. Korshad? Korshad, yes. Korshah.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Korshach. And how much was the debt be? It was like 260,000. 230, 230,000 gold. But wait, wasn't there some other name, some, the little? The location was. Lydia. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Well, there's Lydia. Lydia was who you are to be betrothed to. Troved to. And the location was the Grumpy Lily. That's right. The Grumpy. I was questioning myself when I was like, there's no way something was called the grumpy. My first strove, I'm looking notes in D&D.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Grumpy Lily. The many. The many. It's who we want to speak to. I also, just as something that happened, I was, I was, during that whole family, family conversation, I was scanning the room and the bookshelves for anything interesting, anything out of sorts, anything out of place. I'll make a retroactive perception check. Retroactive perception check. I didn't want to, yeah, I thought, I didn't see shit.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Okay. I just rolled a three. That's nothing. Rightly so. Retro grade, you know, they always say that retrograde perception is 20. No. What? I appreciate where you were going for there. No. No.
Starting point is 00:11:42 No. No. All right. So. I would love to ask Berthold, Berthold, Berthold, if he knows the location of my sister. Well, if you are looking for Mary Ann, she's probably in her chambers. All right, well, I mean, I guess we can all walk to her room
Starting point is 00:12:09 and knock on the door. It's a little weird, right? Do you want to just go out? Do you want to talk to her and touch base with a phone? You can introduce us to her after. Sure, sure. So I'll lead them back downstairs to that main room that was all awful and terrible, right? I mean, it was just... Dark and cold and everything. Yeah. So I'll leave them down there. This was our playroom.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Maybe you should just wait here and I'll go talk to Sissy and I'll be right back. Is it like furniture to Sedona or is it like Baron? No, no, there's furniture. A lot of the furniture here is like really well made, dark woods, fine, like deep red and maroon fabrics. A lot of has dust on it. Plastic covers? No plastic covers? No plastic covers. But a lot of the, some of the furniture here is for you. Some of it is here just as part of the decor. And it's very easy to see which ones or which. I'm definitely going to sit on the ones that's just for decor.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Okay. They're really uncomfortable. Cool. As they usually are. Like a medieval bank lobby. Leave a little butt print in the dust? Yeah. Perfect. All right. At which point, Birdholt, acknowledging that you guys will be staying. Well, could I get anything for you? Perhaps teas, juice, water. What is this bullshit?
Starting point is 00:13:25 You have fermented juice. I'll fetch the wine. He'll hop us off to acquire some means of environment. Should we like pay him? We just found out he's like dead fucking broke. I'd rather not. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:45 Okay. You make your way back to the second floor and off to the far western end of the estate to what you recall of being Mary Ann's Chambers. So as you enter her room, which is kind of become her own study, as she's, you know, you recall last time seeing her that it, her room was becoming more and more of a functional office and as you kind of knock and push the door open like a familiar brother does, not wishing for really any patience on her and necessarily. You can see the interior is, the bed's there for function, but most of it is almost, I want to say a replica of, but it very much resembles the decor and mood of your father's study. You see her currently sitting at a desk in the corner. Her blonde
Starting point is 00:14:43 hair is tied back and a tight braid that runs down her back. She wears a coat and pants and seems to be dressed a little formerly or business-like for being casually at home. You haven't really seen her dress like this before, at least not a casual circumstance. As you glance over past the doorway, she looks up from her papers and says, Brother. Hello, sister. Brother, what? She closes the book. You can see she's been looking over like ledgers and catalogs. There's like she's been doing a fair amount of work here at the desk and stands up and in a very formal way, kind of begins to step towards you. When have you arrived? Just today, father kidnapped me and brought me home. Kidnapped?
Starting point is 00:15:37 Well, I mean, I'm not a kid, but you know, still works. Abducted, abducted me and brought me home. Paid someone to do it. Right. Yes. Anyway, it's Good to see you. Your room is coming along quite nicely. It seems like you're running the show now. Is that true? Not quite, but the responsibilities have definitely been mounting. You look well. How have the wind-tossed roads of Exandria treated you this past year? Well, I have had many adventures and close calls, but I won't bore you with those details. It's been an interesting year abroad, and I would say that I'm glad to be back, but for the abduction part, and also the fact that I've now learned that we are destitute. Is that true?
Starting point is 00:16:33 Um, we are on the path to destitution, yes. So it's true. He wasn't just trying to guilt me. Probably both, to be honest. But we are in a relative dire situation. compared to our previous longstanding lifestyle choices. We're trying to fix this mess. And what would have been your plan had I not arrived today? Well, you were part of the plan. We're trying to figure this out best we can.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Given the circumstances, we feel that this is probably one of the most viable and least dangerous risky endeavors in which we could write the family's trajectory. By marrying me to some lady I've never met. Oh, you're welcome to meet her. I met her, I helped to arrange this. What's she like? She's very nice, she's very pretty, a bit bookish,
Starting point is 00:17:47 which once again I think would be fit you rather well. But let's be honest, this is a political marriage. You do what you want. I mean, there isn't a politician or Lord of this land that has in some way, shape or form, made their own life outside of the family. At that point you see she gets a little dark and seems to speak with a bit of sarcasm.
Starting point is 00:18:16 And father's businesses are they being run the same way with the same attention to detail? There has been no necessary change to the way business has been done, other than transition. transition of some responsibilities, of course. And she gives like a slight nod. She's getting a little uncomfortable
Starting point is 00:18:43 as the conversation continues. Listen, I'm sorry to pop in like this and challenge your judgment, but me marrying this person would solve our problems long term somehow? marrying into this family, into the Truskin lot, would enable us the resources and the connections to reacquire the deeds to our land, to reacquire the business elements that we've been in this unnecessary partnership with for some time, and would enable us to once again reclaim
Starting point is 00:19:30 complete rulership of our family-controlled lands. Do we not own anything anymore? It is a partnership, a partnership that is quickly sliding into the, to the behest of the myriad. So what is ours now? Anything? Our personal belongings? This home? We still own everything in partnership. Owned solely on our own? Some of the furniture. And again, if I do this,
Starting point is 00:20:10 What's to say that we're not just going to drive up another debt again? It doesn't seem like Father or you have been very good at keeping us in the black. I have only been recently brought into this unfortunate circumstance, brother. And you can trust in knowing that in my studies and my time spent here, working with Father, and being very clear and very thorough with the mistakes that he's made in the past, I will not be doomed to repeat them. you and he are two peas in a pot, yes? Well, he's certainly in need of retiring based on the stress that he's put upon himself,
Starting point is 00:20:52 and it would not be long until I would take over the responsibilities. All right, well, I may poke around and see if there's another way I could help, but before I do, is this fun for you? Do you like running this business or almost running it? It's certainly a better challenge than many other daughters of lords are given in their time. Do you have any friends?
Starting point is 00:21:24 Friends come when the money and powers in place. You know this. I do. It's the way the land works. Well, I'll leave you to your work and love the decorations. And I'll, uh, I'm considering the offer and I'll have, uh, I'm considering the offer and I'll have, uh, an answer for you by tomorrow morning. Wonderful. As you begin to make any sort of exit, she catches, you goes,
Starting point is 00:22:05 brother, your arrival here is a great boom to us. You have the power to change the fate of this family. Consider the respect you have for the people who've worked their entire lives to provide for you what you've been given. Mother and father sacrifice so much for us. Consider weighing one selfish interest versus the importance of a bloodline.
Starting point is 00:22:37 That's all I ask. All right, I'll consider it with all my intellect. Well, it's good to see you. When she steps forward and gives you kind of like a half hug, it's like kind of... The pat. The back pat. Good day.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Good day. Good day. She kind of straightens her coat. sits back behind the desk and waits for you to leave. Mm-hmm, all right, I'll shimmy out. Okay. All right, I'll rejoin my friends downstairs. Very well.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Well. How'd it go? Yeah, well yourself. As expected. Yeah, things are about the same between me and Marianne. So she's still a raging bitch? No, she's, I mean, she's not raging. I think it's just rather rude that she doesn't
Starting point is 00:23:37 doesn't want to come down here and meet us. She has her work and her. Oh, she's not coming down. No. That's weird. Well, I mean, I don't know. She's busy, I guess. Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:52 They're not guest people. They're not dinner party family. You get picked up on that. Not even for, like, people that could help them with their name. I mean, yes. Did you mention us or anything else? No, it didn't come up.
Starting point is 00:24:14 Oh. No. They didn't have any idea what a heavy hitter you are now and the type of people you wrote? I mean, they kind of said, how have I been? But they don't really give a shit either way. So you just didn't even offer up the information? But if they're not interested in me,
Starting point is 00:24:29 why should I be interested in them knowing about me? That's a very good point. Back it up. How... What are you thinking? What are you thinking? Where's your head at? How can we help you? I mean, I don't know what to do. I... There's this woman, she's apparently nice, and I could just go for it and marry her, and then it seems like all my family problems would be okay. Forever? There's no such thing as family problems being okay for forever.
Starting point is 00:25:02 Really? I don't know. I'm sort of curious about Talking to the people who are in this contract with my father and seeing if there's any way that we can wiggle out of it a little bit. But I don't know how to solve everything right now. And I also don't know if I feel a duty, a responsibility to this family, because they are my family. Grog. You feel a duty. The privy is over there. over there, over there, all the front yard beckings.
Starting point is 00:25:44 We may have opened a bottle of wine. Oh, God. You're day drunk? You're day drunk? You need a bottle of wine. Day buzz. No, we just had a little bit of wine, just a small amount. I carved my name into the floor.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Part of me wants to, oh God. Oh, okay. Part of me wants to just turn around and go back with you to Whitestone and forget that the dead Darrington's exist, but I don't think I can do that because I am a Darrington. And I owe it to, at least to my name to try and fix what I can. To what you can. Yes.
Starting point is 00:26:24 Don't sacrifice your entire life for this, though. Well, I'll try not to, but it seems like a plan B at this point. Also, you had no prior knowledge to your family's connection to the mob? No. It's way cooler than I thought my family ever was. I mean, I knew that my dad did shady business with lots of shady characters, but I never knew. I assume he paid off people. I assume he had friends in high places and people who he had had to bribe to turn the other cheek, but I never knew that he was in business with him, owing our whole existence. to these terrible people.
Starting point is 00:27:15 And I don't know what to make of that. Well, T, I think we're all prepared to help you do anything you want to do, but are you sure you want to help perpetuate the family business? Definitely not. Listen, I think there's two steps to this. There's the short term and the long term.
Starting point is 00:27:39 We have to solve this short-term need really quickly, not this whole $230,000, I mean gold debt. It's a white stone term, it's a, I mean a wild mouth, oh my God. My phone rang, I was confused. It's so fun, it's not going to break. Anyway, lifting, heavy, lifting.
Starting point is 00:28:04 Listen, I had a few drinks before. No, we have a short-term problem that we can maybe go alleviate a bit if we go talk to these folk at the laughing ninnie. The grumpy lily. It's like the laughing nini. I do like the laughing nini. I don't want to go there and say, you nini. It's a stand-up comedy club. That's over.
Starting point is 00:28:30 That's a long-term problem. And then there's a long-term problem which I'll have to solve. to solve on another day. There's a long-term problem that my family is awful and needs to be stopped at all costs, and that's something that I'll have to deal with tomorrow. The Truskins, that's who you're being married into potentially. Do they have a son that someone could be barely better at all? You're talking about marrying the sister. Yeah. Oh, well that's still, well. I guess it's not the same as it. No. No, actually it's quite, it's unfortunately the opposite.
Starting point is 00:29:10 Your royalty, you know this. Of course, I know everything about royalty. Little royal girl. So what exactly is your duty that you're feeling inclined towards... D. Damn it girl. Lila? Is it Lila? Lydia? Lydia. Maybe we should talk to this Lydia as well, because she's obviously in a position of being told what she's she's going to do with herself.
Starting point is 00:29:37 Yeah, maybe she's also a badass. I mean, at the very least, we should meet all the chess pieces on the board, right? I mean, she lives in another part of the kingdom, right? Matthew Mercer? Yeah, yeah. I mean, that's not a problem. Oh, yes, that's true.
Starting point is 00:29:54 But there's the in-town people we can meet first. Of course. Let's talk to the mob. Yeah. Yes, of course. You'll come with me because I can't talk to the mom. to the moment. Of course we were.
Starting point is 00:30:07 Wait, when you said we need to stop your family at all costs, are you talking about killing them? No, I'm not talking about killing them. Yeah, but Grog does bring up a point that I was trying to make before he started laughing when I said, duty. Let it roll. But what exactly are you committed to keeping your family around? You said you were compelled and you felt like you had a duty, but then you immediately started
Starting point is 00:30:35 talking about. Stop it, Travis. God, I can't. It's gotten to all of this now, tearing your family apart. Off to the races. And stopping them. My family is pretty bad. I've learned.
Starting point is 00:30:49 But I've also learned from young Trickfoot that even a rotten family is worth trying to save. And I admire the path that she took with her family. with her family, and I would like to at least try to push mine in the right direction and try to make our name a little less shitty. That is a pretty big matzabal, my friend. Well, that's why that's long term. In the short term, I just want to get them safe.
Starting point is 00:31:31 I... If there's one thing I understand, it's giving you. Giving your life to a cause. I just hope you... I don't want to die if that's what you're saying. No, but... Dedicating. Dedicating. Dedicating. Thank you. Giving.
Starting point is 00:31:49 Time is a gift, I would say. Sure. So dedicating that gift is a big thing. But I just hope you believe in it. I don't believe in them, but I believe in the cause right now. And we'll see how far that takes. We believe in you. You guys.
Starting point is 00:32:13 Can you describe to me this duty? That's hard. That's very hard. I think I do now. Is it really like hard or, you know, is it... It's a little more nebulous than that, frog. We can pass on this for now. Adjectives are not my strong suit, so... You know what an adjective is. That's impressive.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Yeah, no, I got it one time at this tavern and it just like, I had it for two nights. Just itched everywhere. Listen, when you see my duty, you'll know. Hmm. Copy that. It's loose. It's jujee. Should we go to the Grumpy Lily then?
Starting point is 00:32:58 Please. Let's go. Oh, God. This is going so well. As you're exiting the house and Bertram's opening the door, you hear some heavy creaking from the staring. from the stair that leads down to the main area. And you watch as an older woman in kind of her early 50s or so with her mid-length, kind of curly brown hair,
Starting point is 00:33:23 shades of gray and green eyes, behind a small set of reading spectacles, kind of stoic of face wearing what looks to be some sort of a finely crafted silk robe, clutching kind of a book under her arm. Just come down the steps and look and goes, Tarian? Mama.
Starting point is 00:33:44 Terrian, my boy. She kind of sits the book down and walks, and puts her hands out as Shepotas. It takes her at the sides of the face and pulls you in for, ah, terribly sorry. I didn't realize that we had guests. Oh, yes, these are my allies and my friends.
Starting point is 00:34:04 This is the team known as Vox Machina. They are a fearless band of adventurers, and they have taken me in and they have taken me in as their own. Look at you so rugged. Well, yes, I am a bit. So you've had some adventures with my boy, have you? Oh, yes, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:24 That's wonderful. Have you spoken with your father? Yes, I've spoken to father and a sister, and it's good to know they're healthy. Greetings, adventurers. Spring has sprung here in Los Angeles, and that means it's a brief period where it's only 75 degrees instead of 95 degrees. I'll take it. And that means I've been outside a lot more. Walking around, occasionally galloping after a toddler hopped up on juice boxes, traveling a bit. You know the vibe. And after doing some spring cleaning, my wardrobe, I got to say, looking a little bit sad. I want

Lately, I've been getting a bit more intentional about what I wear from day. today because instead of just falling out of whatever laundry baskets nearby, I've been leaning into pieces that feel easy and comfortable, but still put together because it just makes getting dressed simpler when I have a plan. Starting point is 00:38:27 And it's lovely to see you as well. Have you been happy at all this last year? I've been, and she reaches back and takes the book off the step and goes, I've been making my way through your library. Oh, my books in my room. Yes, well, I've had a lot of time to myself. Been a bit under the weather for some time, and these have kept me fine company.
Starting point is 00:39:00 Oh, that's lovely. I hope you've enjoyed them as much as I did. What's your favorite one? Well, not this piece of trash, She says, Dan. They were some journals. No, no. There's one, what was it called?
Starting point is 00:39:25 The River's Dawn. It was a brilliant. Before the River's Dawn, yes. Before the River's Dawn, that one, yes, yes. It dealt with it was sort of a continuation of the creation myth of Wild Mountains, but it turned
Starting point is 00:39:44 into the spirits of the gods as these two fauns, and they fell in love, but could not be together because the dawn had to rise and the sun would shun this. It was very, very beautiful. No, it was, it was, but also heartbreaking at the same time. Very much so, it reminded me of you.
Starting point is 00:40:01 Yes. That's one of my favorites as well. I didn't break the binding too much, I hope. I'll fix it if you did, it's all. All right. Well, that's what. I'm glad you've been, you know, entertaining yourself. I know living with Papa can be very hard, and it's been very hard on you all these years.
Starting point is 00:40:33 If you would excuse us for just a moment, please. Just a few moments. She kind of points towards the door. Sorry. I told you that like this. No, we're going outside. Front door. Front door. Are we leaving?
Starting point is 00:40:47 A bottle of wine. Bertrand's leading you out of the main area. Out the front door or the front of the house. Right, the house. Like, get out. You guys were on your way out. Just wait on the fucking porch, Jesus. There we go.
Starting point is 00:41:01 There we go. She, as soon as she has some privacy with you, she goes. My boy, if you could indulge me in some strange honesty, I'm rather intrigued at this idea. I don't wish to undermine. and anything that we've built as a family. I've lived a privileged life for a very long time. Far longer than you and your sister have.
Starting point is 00:41:40 I've lived within this house and moved from the world. I do as responsibility asks of me. My wedded duties is with a wife and a mother, and I do so without complaint. I have always seen you fight these same circumstances bravely. And I find vicarious joy in your escape this place this past year. These books are a reminder of that same bravery.
Starting point is 00:42:21 I know Howard has said many things, and he may be right. But there's a little part of me. Welcomes, a little change in scenery and lifestyle. Maybe that's what the family needs. I don't know. Perhaps I'm full hardy, I know not. No, no, no. That's your right to think this way.
Starting point is 00:42:57 This year has been eye-opening for me, And I know that you care for Papa and you are a diligent and faithful wife. But I know how hard it must have been to live this life for so many years. And I wonder what it would be like if you hadn't been with him, what kind of person you would be.
Starting point is 00:43:26 Looking at you, looking at your sister, I wouldn't change it for the way. Well, things are going to have to change at some point, right? So... One way or another. I just... I just want you to... I want you to make choices for yourself. I want you to do what you think is right. That you could live with duty in blood is one thing. No, no. It's, uh... Thank you. Thank you for that. Um...
Starting point is 00:44:20 Could you... What? Would you not tell Howard we've had this conversation? Mom's the word. All right. I'll be back. And maybe we'll have time to talk more books later. I would like that very much. Good evening. Good evening. As you leave, she's like,
Starting point is 00:44:46 Oh, and the other one I was trying to remember is the mountain range of gold. Oh, my. There's a wonderful three-part series that... When you think he's dead, but then he's not, he comes back. Well, the second book, you get halfway through it before he even turns and reveals himself. I know. Well, you never see the body in the first one. I know, I know.
Starting point is 00:45:06 But then in the white robes and everything, there's renewed power, it's incredible. Yeah. Anyway, I'm sorry, you have your friends waking on me. Good night, Tarian. I want to adopt her. She's awesome. So as you step out, Tim, greet the rest of your friends.
Starting point is 00:45:27 All right, let's go to the jumping Jimmy. Whatever it's called. How's your mother? She's better. I mean, she's had a tough time, but she's, that was the longest conversation I've had with her in many years. Wow.
Starting point is 00:45:51 She said she's under the weather. What's wrong? I think everyone is super stressed out and heart sick about everything that's happening. and living with, you know, under a tyrant of a father is not healthy. I, you should have seen me when I lived here. I was not nearly as dashing or as charming as I am now.
Starting point is 00:46:17 It took me spreading my wings and flying before I found my sense of humor and my hair looks better, my eyes look better. I thought you said that was because of the aloevira. Yes, that's it. We didn't have any at home. Oh, yeah. The change of climate is not in the matter. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:36 Yes, salt is better for you. I mean, life needs aloe to live. It's something I always say. That's true. I've heard you say that two or three times. It's just moist-rising products in general. Life needs moisturizing products to live. In general, to live.
Starting point is 00:47:00 Life needs moisture to live. I mean, I know my beauty regimens changed. You know, life needs moisture in lieu. It's way smarter so, yeah. All right, guttler truck. All right, to the laughing nanny it is. All right, who's leading this charge? Probably you, Terry. Terry is.
Starting point is 00:47:23 I know the place. You are in charge while we're here. You've never been to this place. You've heard of it, but you would never be seen dead in a place like this. seen dead in a place like this before. So you lead your way in at this point, because you arrived, the sun was still in the sky, but it was deep in the sky.
Starting point is 00:47:38 So by now it's post dusk. So you now see the massive stone and wood structures of Diastok are dark against the ever dark sky with the windows now aglow with this warm yellows and orange of the candle and lantern lit interiors. You can see there are hanging lanterns that are put out there, and you can see a number of individuals that seem to work for the city who go and place these lanterns up on each of these poles are now finishing their job and returning back to the evening. Following these lamps along the street, the cobblestones are still really well kept for as old as this town seems to be. There's a, for a city that isn't a major metropolis within a kingdom and what your experience has been in Tauvel.
Starting point is 00:48:29 A fair amount of money seems to still make its way through this city. Eventually you find your way fairly far north into the city until you come across the exterior of the grumping lily. Asking a few questions to guide you to which building it is, because it's much smaller than you expected. You see what appears to be a single-story pub with one window, one door, more than maybe 30 feet on any given side. It is lit from the inside, though it's dimly lit. And as you approach and push past the somewhat-a-jar entryway, you see before you, what appears to be three tables, three singular, stained round tables. One lone patron since at the center table, an elderly man inspecting a very small, what appears to be clay sculpture that he's
Starting point is 00:49:24 just enraptured by. and a single bar keep to your right. It seems to notice your entry. A healthy pale woman of brunette hair in her 40s dressed in a simple gray blouse who as soon as you kind of enter and take in the atmosphere, she goes, ah, slow day folks. I'm happy to have the business.
Starting point is 00:49:44 What can I get you? Geez, Grog, I don't even know if you're gonna fit in here. Yes, Willie Toby. Your head does reach the ceiling. Shit. Just dive in, then. Should we get anything to drink first or just dive in? Yeah, it's kind of like you have to buy something to use the restroom.
Starting point is 00:50:02 Right, I feel like you should. Do you have a suraz? I was just wondering if you had any imports. Do you have a red wine? Yes. That I can get for you, dear. Don't worry, don't worry, don't worry. Red wine we can do, definitely.
Starting point is 00:50:16 And she walks over and slams her hand on the side of the bar, and what you thought was once the patron now appears to be the one barman there. And they're like, wait, wait, wait, huh? I missed the conversation. Oh, the guy with the sculpture? Yeah. Red wine for our guests. Oh.
Starting point is 00:50:36 He puts it in his stands up, and regurgently walks over. He sees his back's kind of hunch forward, and he's like, eh, leaves the room for a second. Well, sit down, find a place wherever you like. All right. My main one. Put two tables together, I guess. All three, really.
Starting point is 00:50:52 Yeah. Wait, this is the meeting place of a dark group, right? A shady group? I guess. Shouldn't we check this area for anything shady? I mean. Sure. Is there a shade?
Starting point is 00:51:04 Let's keep our eyes out. In this establishment. It's dimly lit, so there's plenty of shadows. It's a five by five square. Do we see anything amiss? Oh, that's terrible. Yeah. Just.
Starting point is 00:51:17 Like, le, le, le, le, 24. Nothing seems amiss. It seems like a shitty pub. It's the definition of a poorly attended dive. Does it look like there's any kind of seams in the ground that would be like a tractor or anything? You can make an investigation check if you're like. 17.
Starting point is 00:51:41 You begin to kind of look around the floor and keep perspective around the area. You see some stains, you see some crumbs, and at one point you look over in the corner and you see what appears to be a piece of stale bread that's been left in order to the tables, and there are three rats currently eating it at once, and as soon as you kind of lean in it in,
Starting point is 00:51:57 and they all kind of stop and look at you and scatter. All right, you can keep going, all right. Could be worse, they could not be afraid of you. That's true. Just give me the fuck you looking to keep eating the bread. It's when you know you've really found the right bar. They're like, we reserve this table two weeks ago. You have to make a phone call.
Starting point is 00:52:18 We're regular. The elderly barman walks in now and he's got two bottles of red wine and he's like kind of shuffling. I'll get your cups. I'll get your cups. It turns around and starts shuffling back. This might take a lot. Do you need any help?
Starting point is 00:52:35 See you in five. I mean, we have, oh. It's fine. No, let it happen. Okay, who do you think we proposition here? The old man or the... That guy? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:46 Really? Yeah. What makes you say that? Shifty eyes. Shifty, yeah. Maybe an act even. Yeah. Shifty eyes.
Starting point is 00:52:53 It's just old, I thought, no? Nobody's just old. He's many things. That's true. Look at Pike's Grandpa. Look at Pike. Look at me. Look how ancient.
Starting point is 00:53:04 How old are you again? 142. I said a goddamn. Is that true? No. Oh. Oh. Well, because you could be.
Starting point is 00:53:23 I mean. I forgot my birthday. I don't know how old I am. Is it in the hundreds? because, you know, you knowms can... No, I think it's... I think it's in the 30s. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:53:35 Right? Whatever you want. Yeah. Oh. You want no baby. Yeah. The gentleman shuffles back now with like a bunch of cups. His hands kind of rung through all the various handles.
Starting point is 00:53:51 Impressive. Two gold for both bottles. I give him two gold. Thank you. You're welcome. In my earring, I say to Vax, I'm clamming up. You do it. You do it. Sir. He's him walking. He goes in.
Starting point is 00:54:16 On your way to the back, could you tell the many we'd like to speak to them? He slowly turns his head over to the bartender, the woman. She kind of... What was that? Oh, just a conversation with the many. What about them? my thumb into some wine and I use thieves cant and write disgust in wine on the bar. She gives a click noise to the old man who goes,
Starting point is 00:54:52 Sick. Are you gonna take your bottles or what? Oh yeah, we'd definitely keep this. Alright, pick him up follow me. Do you want to hear? We're gonna get to see the real bar. It turns around and shuffles out. It's like following a bad slow NPC in World Warcraft.
Starting point is 00:55:13 You're like, just go fucking faster. He's just, who is way. His pace is terrible. Yeah, it's awful. Here we go, here we go. Running a hedge. He's not just waiting. Over here, that's right.
Starting point is 00:55:25 Old school double lozzo. Oh, you need some hay. But eventually he takes you out of the small pub past the unused kitchen, which has another series of stale bread clumps on the side, down to what looks to be a broom closet. And he gets there to the edge of the broom closet and pulls out a key ring. I want to pay attention to the room closet and pulls out of keyring. I want to pay attention to you.
Starting point is 00:55:46 What key he's taking? Do you? Throw me. Can I take the bread crumbs from the corner and throw it down so the rats could have it? Sure. So you walk over in the kitchen and kind of grab some of the breadcrumbs and throw them down in the ground and you wait there because there's no rats present. You're like, okay.
Starting point is 00:56:02 Breadcrumbs. They scatter a little further out. You turn around and the minute you turn in the area, you hear, look over and there's like seven rats that just scurried out of the shadows and are just going at these crumbs immediately. No, you can't keep one. I kill all of them. No. No.
Starting point is 00:56:22 Smoosh. What a sound I know? I nudge my sister. All mine. Fine, yes. That she is. He finally pulls one key and unlocks the small closet. You paid attention to him.
Starting point is 00:56:41 It opens this rickety wooden door and she goes, eh. And just walks past and gets kind of behind the door expectantly. You guys glance into the space and you can see there's, it looks to be a low torchlight about every 10 feet down a wooden stairway that descends about 30, 40 feet. Traps people hiding anything that seems out of place or dangerous. It all seems out of place. Traps. All look for people hiding.
Starting point is 00:57:11 Preception. Perception check, investigation check. Yeah. Perception. 24. 24. Twinsies. Oh, Twinsies.
Starting point is 00:57:24 Look at that. That's disgusting. Yeah. All right. So you guys make your way down. No traps in the stair descent, but you make your way to the bottom of the stairs that issue. You don't see anything necessarily fishy. You do see the kind of the, these torches have been burning for a little bit, a couple hours, and are probably needing to be re-upped pretty soon. You guys have mentioned to make your way down and as soon as the last of you, who's falling up the rear in this, by the way. What's a marching order? Hmm.
Starting point is 00:57:49 I'll go toward the front with the twins. Twins. The hallway here is about big enough for you to go single file. Okay. Are you going to be behind me, Terry? I'm in front of grog. Yeah, I'll hang with Grog and Pike. I'll take right there.
Starting point is 00:58:03 On the center as well. I'm a debug. Okay, so Grog's in the very back. Keelith, Percy. Pike is back. Pike is with Grog. It's all right. Pikes with Grog.
Starting point is 00:58:14 So we'll say Grog in the back, then Pike. Then Keelith. Then Percy. 20. Then Terry? Yeah. And then BX in back. And then back.
Starting point is 00:58:23 This guy got a room. Okay. All right. So you guys ascend on the stairway as soon as Groggy make your way in, it's tiny. You have to kind of like, squeeze in and duck low. And even like just walking through the pathway, your shoulders are kind of like rubbing against the sides of the wall and your head kind of occasionally, it's like you in Japan, baby. I know.
Starting point is 00:58:46 Taking a shower, I broke like two shower heads. Just turn it around. Just turn it around, like, phton. I'm proud of that. Was it like the beds, was that like lying down on a saltine for you? Oh, yeah. My heels were just over like, but... You went in a McDonald's and his head hit the ceiling.
Starting point is 00:59:07 You are a kaiju. I'm Kiju from the deep. She's calling me Jigsty. Okay. Okay, wait, before we go any further. Okay. Oh my god. Holy shit. Ratchett.
Starting point is 00:59:28 Before we go any further, wait. Ratchett. Do I have to be doing a short rest to do the inspiring leader thing? It's ten minutes it takes to do. Oh, never mind. Well, no, we could stand here for ten minutes. Yeah, yeah, no, please. I can say some words.
Starting point is 00:59:42 I'm new to the being an inspiring and leader thing. Yeah, so. It's ten minutes kind of like before you know you're going to go into something you started doing. I should have done that at the bar. Wouldn't be cool if you were just peck-talking us all the way down here? all the way down here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that'd be great. We'll see if you can go.
Starting point is 00:59:56 Yeah, start it now. Just do it while we're talking. Okay, okay. As we walk, we'll walk real slow. You know what, guys? I've had a lot of time to think over the year that we've been away. The door closes behind Grog, in your hair kind of walk. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 01:00:10 And it's just, you know, I feel like we've grown so much as people and- You know, you guys are just your family. You're a family to me, and... And, you know, and I go on for a while, do you guys remember that time in Stillben? When we, like, very first met, and, like, we kind of all didn't really like each other. You know, and, like, Grog, I don't think you understood me for a while, but then, like, you know. I don't remember. Yeah, that's fine. That's fair.
Starting point is 01:00:42 Hey, Grog, do you remember that one time? This is great, by the way, because at the bottom of the stairs, it only goes for about 15 more feet before there's a door. There's a man in a stool who's just sitting in there going, She'll just be like another minute. Just give us one minute. Just find out what the inside of a bag of holding feels like. I don't know, she's almost up. He's not stopping you.
Starting point is 01:01:05 Do you remember that time that made you, I think it was like the first time I made you laugh and I turned into an Earth elemental and then pretended to do like I'm going down the stairs thing through the floor? Oh yeah. I remember that. Yeah. Yeah, I just remember that the other day, and I just love you guys so much.
Starting point is 01:01:25 You know, and I don't feel included in this. I don't think you're around yet. No, I wasn't. I wasn't. But I love you so much. Okay, now I feel better. That's all. Any change in our bodies or anything?
Starting point is 01:01:36 No, I just want to say, I think. She's going for 10. You said it had to be 10 minutes. So, so as you guys are all in the hallway. I think we've got this. Grog at the back, you can't move forward because everyone's stopped, and you're just kind of like, all of you who wish to can take 17 temporary hit points. That's kind of inspiring me at her feet. Oh yeah, you want to mock until you realize the hit points.
Starting point is 01:02:08 Yeah, Frog doesn't notice. But it is your choice as to whether or not you felt inspired by that and take them. It fills me with bigger. And I just, I love you guys. I love you guys so much. Grog's too uncomfortable to take him. No, I just start weeping silently. I mean, let's be honest, he wouldn't even feel the difference.
Starting point is 01:02:28 That's true, yeah. That's what Grog means is temporary hip-hold. Grog would just go, not showing, not showing your sensitivity. Thanks, Kina. That was really nice, thank you so much. Tripped down memory lane. He was fired. Just thinking about it.
Starting point is 01:02:43 Oh, hey, how's you going that? Hi, friend. You see this guy, he's tough and surly. It's like a balding man who's just like made of muff. muscle and anger. He's sitting in there with like one eye open, one a little squinted. Do you feel inspired? No. Not the warm and fuzzy type, are you?
Starting point is 01:02:59 He doesn't seem to respond. You do hear a series of muffled voices and what sounds like a faint, like beat or some kind from the other side of the wall, just muffled. The password, I am what I am, I'm not sure. Nope. Too strange reference, never mind. He begins to reach over for what looks to be a small lever that's hidden on the side. We're here to speak to the many. stops. We're in.
Starting point is 01:03:30 Just going in then? All right. That word just gets us in. So as you guys enter this doorway as it pushes open, you're immediately hit with it as it is a wall of voices and laughter and conversation, just interweaving in multiple languages. It's kind of, this is far more lively than you expect. it would be. It's a large, like a tavern hall. It's almost two stories tall, but it's open. There's a central circular chandelier that hangs over with, let's be flickering candles in a circle around it.
Starting point is 01:04:10 You can see elements of what are almost like a second floor, but it's more like a slight balcony outcropping. You don't see any doorways. It's just like a leveled platform above. And there before you see what has to be three or four dozen people scattered across a number of tables, all in various forms of dress. and many of them are drinking, some of them are playing games of chants, some of them are in deep conversation. You can see the music, though, this is a bad example, but it's what I have. It's not a full band per se. It looks like there's a set of three percussionists in the far corner that are all in the process of just weaving this almost like rhythmic beat that shifts and changes. Some of there are more like on a hand drum, some of them are more like some small percussion instruments, but it's interesting. It's not the usual bar atmosphere you're used to. It has almost a weird kind of...
Starting point is 01:05:00 Would you say more like Blue Man Group or more like a Subway Bucket drummer? It's like Stomp. I'd say it's in between the two actually. You're like Stombe. Take a little Blue Man group and a little bit of Subway Bucat. It's right between there. But you guys step into the chamber and kind of taking the atmosphere a bit, whether that be with smiles, awe or confusion and care.
Starting point is 01:05:21 It's exactly what I said. The real bar. Yeah. Yeah. I like this. This is like all times. Yes, it is. As you guys, as this happens, as soon as you get me, have this conversation, kind of taking the atmosphere, one of four bar hands sees you approach, and you see a jagged smile
Starting point is 01:05:38 of a hairless man with ruddy skin that immediately comes up to you. It's like, hey, friends, hey, new faces are few and far between here in Deerstock. Welcome to our little slice of the family, eh? What can I get you? Well, we kind of brought bottles. That's rude, isn't it? Yeah, but obviously the good stuff's down here. Yeah, I don't know, you got that shit, but put that away.
Starting point is 01:06:02 Do you have a shiraz? I'll see what I can muster. I like these people. So, um, kind of slim pickings for room here. It's a bit early in the evening, it's busy, so I guess find some space sit down. Folks don't want you to sit by them. Don't fucking sit on him. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:06:30 Okay, perfect. Do you see room for a large group? You see two tables that have rooms for half of a large group. All right. Split up. Split the party. Why don't we ask them nicely if they would like to move? No, no, you do that. This is not by yourself.
Starting point is 01:06:49 No? No, this is special. How about the talkers go to one table and then... And then the defenders go to a number? Defenders go to another in case shit goes bad. I like that. The Defenders table. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:01 So I'm in the talkers table. Yeah, obviously. No. Well, Vecta Terry, I feel like you guys are good talkers. Right. No, I don't know about that. I'll join you. I'm actually going to one of the room.
Starting point is 01:07:17 All right. I'll sit with Grog and Pike. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Sharras time. One on the floor. So what's our play here? Do we just keep saying the word many as many times as we can?
Starting point is 01:07:31 This is how far it goes? This is it. So now we say we ask for her by name or him by name, Khorchard? Yeah. Whatever. I mean, he or she may not reveal themselves too quickly. All right. We could buy Korshawd a drink. It might not be a synod. That is a beautiful idea. Thank you. All right. Care of one Terry and Derrick.
Starting point is 01:07:53 Of course. I have just enough for a nice drink. And that's it. Oh, we'll cover the drink, darling. Party funds cover the drink. It's just in your name. Oh, okay. All right, all right. I'm slow to catch on sometimes.
Starting point is 01:08:10 All right. Can we grab a barmaiden? Of course. Make sure you get that. Well, you guys find a, you split between the two tables. You, funnily enough, you guys sit down. One of the tables that appears to be three guys They're in a card game, as soon as you sit down, just kind of, and then keep talking amongst themselves, more about just taking bets, bluffing each other, giving shit about their home
Starting point is 01:08:33 lives and stuff like that. The other table has, looks like four quiet individuals that are look to be elvish lineage, they're half-alph or full elf, it's kind of hard to tell. They're wearing these hoods that show the ears from underneath, but then seem to block a lot of the features of the face and guard a lot of the forehead. These kind of silk hood that kind of drips down past the nose and the sides of the... Do we recognize any kind of semblance of that garb? Make a history check. Oh, well, my history is shit, but 19?
Starting point is 01:09:12 Yeah. 19. You've seen this kind of, we haven't seen this kind of dress, but you've heard of it. It seems to be of wild mountain. of Wild Mountain, but the eastern side of Wild Mountain. Not part of the Duendalian Empire. This more stems from Zhorhas, which is the other kingdom of the continent.
Starting point is 01:09:36 It is actually kind of an intense existence along the border of the Dundalian Empire. Duhast. And you said it to the east? Jorhas. I'm pretty sure it's what it's called. Jorhas. It is now. It's whatever it's called in the campaign guide.
Starting point is 01:09:57 Oh, man, that's right. Now you have to stick to what you wrote. That's crazy. I know, I just have to look it up again. But anyway, as soon as you sit down at the table, the four individuals kind of look at each other and get up from the table and walk off to find another place. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 01:10:16 Smell you, Nancy Drew. Now you have a full table. Maybe some of us don't smell very good in this group. Not one of them, though. I smell amazing. I smell fucking fantastic. And I'm over there. I'm going to blaze about the musicians and listen to the musicians, and wait for them to finish a set. Okay.
Starting point is 01:10:36 I guess so all of us can sit at the table since the people have... All of you guys can sit at the table now that you've kind of forced them off their own space. Whoops. The guys spend the card game, it's in a pain of mind. So as you sit down on the table, the bar hand who met you here approaches. Once in a morning goes like, All right, let's like you found a place to sit. What can I get you? Got you? Which Rose is your asking, eh?
Starting point is 01:11:00 Really? And he goes ahead and he pulls up, it looks to be a dark green bottle, already uncorked, and he brings over a hefty metallic goblet or tankard to some kind and pours it in there. It appears to be something akin to a Shiraz, I suppose. Fills it at the top, slide it forward. All right. drinks for anyone else, hey? Yeah, you've got any like pies, like meat or both?
Starting point is 01:11:30 To drink. Do they not like a poo? No, probably. I can get you to hear me pie, that's what you're asking. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't recommend you drink it. Don't you'd probably squeeze water from a stone, so it wouldn't surprise me if you could.
Starting point is 01:11:44 Hey, yeah, meat pie in an ale, please. All right, coming on up. Anyone else? Whiskey. Same. We'll be done. Whiskey, whiskey. Hey, you little one. Well, you said you have things that'll fuck you up right.
Starting point is 01:12:00 So what would that be considered? Oh, I mean no offense, lady, but you're a bit, a smaller side. How much can you have? Whoa, well, judge, crazy. I mean that respectfully. Look, I'm just looking out for my patrons here. I don't want to go and send someone to the local temple to get brought out of a stoop.
Starting point is 01:12:22 Bring it. Bring it. All right. I'll take your work for it, then. I'll have another charade. Another charade. Over the earring. Pickle, will you get me one of those as well and don't drink it before I come back?
Starting point is 01:12:37 As a matter of fact, I want two of whatever that is. All right. It's coming all right. It leaves the table. You're welcome. I have to order the drink when he comes back. Oh, the other drink. Oh, wait, before he goes.
Starting point is 01:12:53 Pardon me, pardon me, pardon me. Oh, yes. No, I have one more order to make. I'd like to buy a drink. Oh, well. Forkoshan. That was right. That was not at all.
Starting point is 01:13:06 Courtesy of Tarian Darrington. Wow. Slip him a gold. I thought you're about to shake his hand with two fingers. Oh, darn. There's a coin between us. Yes. Because, what you say?
Starting point is 01:13:24 Yes. All right. I nudge him under the table. You want what he likes, it's going to cost you more than that. Oh. What is he like? Whatever it is, here's another for what, and keep another one for yourself. Thank you very much.
Starting point is 01:13:45 That'll put you up to you, stop. We'll go ahead and settle your bills at the end of their drinks. But all right. All right. Cool short it is. I give Terry a five. What table did the bartender look at when he said that? Make perception, check.
Starting point is 01:14:01 Oh, I was planning on totally watching that. Oh, yeah, that's, say, 13. Should I roll two? Well, if you said you were looking at as well, well yeah. Please. Okay, okay, oh yeah. Can you roll that reccom guy?
Starting point is 01:14:17 Is it? 30. 30, okay. You gather the direction that he glanced. He seemed to just kind of, it was a cursory look. More like checking to see if the individual in question was still in the room or not. But you got the direction of it and kind of,
Starting point is 01:14:36 you know exactly where he was looking, but there were three tables in that way there. He leaves for a bit and the laughter still kind of rising and falling throughout the room. The musicians in the corner, which are two younger human boys and what appears to be a female Goliath who has the heavier drum in the center, who's like the midpiece, the big gun of, and the two guys are doing. One of them has a small set of almost like lap drum that he's hitting the the faster kind of beats in the guy to the left of her. It could be brothers, you're not too sure. The features are similar but different enough. Ages seem off a little skew. The guy in the left has a series of small small wooden blocks and what looks to be some sort of contraption that has like three or four different small percussion instruments that are all fixed to it.
Starting point is 01:15:30 And so it's kind of leaping between them all. And it's, for being just percussion, that kind of variety is still making a cool melody. Like you're still able to find certain notes and certain blends where it still is very different and unique atmosphere. But they managed to bring to this crescendo of the piece that you entered on and it finishes. There's no real, there's occasionally a couple clap here and then most everyone's busy about their own shit and they just Excuse me, players. As they're both like looking over to grab a drink to stop in the younger guy with kind of scruffy chin, this kind of mop of hair that's a little wild glances over to you. Yeah?
Starting point is 01:16:05 That was a really unique piece you guys just did there. Thank you. You're welcome. You know, I've only ever heard music like that one time, and it wasn't here, wasn't in this city, it was actually in Amman. What was his name? Drenzel. It was a musician named Drenzel. This is a long shot, but you haven't come across a Dr. Drenzel in your travels? I've always wanted to hear him play again. Can't say I have, sir. My apologies. Oh, shit. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.
Starting point is 01:16:44 Sorry. You guys heard of a Dr. Drenzel? And the other guy goes, nope. Orkish, stylish hats. The Glythe woman sitting there and she's just kind of staring off across the room He goes, no. Sorry, friend. I'm keeping an eye on the side of the room that he glanced in looking for anybody going and delivering drinks to the table just kind.
Starting point is 01:17:12 You watch the gentleman who has been getting your guys drinks, and he's in the process of getting all of your various drink orders and pouring what you've requested. He does come to a point where he gets this one It's like a fine jeweled goblet that he has specifically set off to the side. He takes it and washes it and takes care to clean it entirely and dry it off. Once it's set there, he reaches underneath, kind of counting a few bottles, pulls one drink, uncorks it. It's this thick, thick, kind of like dark brown glass jug. As he uncorks it, he kind of pours it into there, somewhat locks it over, grabs another thing, seems to be mixing it with something else. He's being very careful with the actual amounts he's pouring.
Starting point is 01:17:55 he's pouring, finishes that, takes a piece of some, looks like an orange, kind of crushes it in the inside and leaves the rind inside, and takes it and kind of switches it for a second, and walks over to a table across the entire hall, kind of where you even saw him glance before. One sex on the beach. He walks over to a table. table where you see, appear to be about five different patrons at the table. Most of them
Starting point is 01:18:33 wealthily dressed. Two of them appear to be older merchantile or business owners. They wear their jewelry on their hands very, very extravagantly and displaying both wealth and prestige. To an ostentatious way that you know most high-end, high-end guild workers or owners tend to display. You're very familiar with the caste systems that have emerged in a lot of the central metropolitan areas, and so you can very easily pick up some of those themes. Two of them appear to be, as a contrast, very simply dressed. No jewelry. You can't make out any details in this distance, and there's one man who he hands the drink, too. He sits down in front of him and slides it forward. The man you see there, he's deep brown skin marked
Starting point is 01:19:22 with a pair to be a number of tattoos that kind of curl up his arms and up to the side of his neck, touch his ears on each side. He's wearing light, billowing clothes of silver and maroon silks. That kind of ended about the elbow and then just kind of hang in below beneath, leaving the rest of his arm completely visible, where you can see the tattoo continues up the forearm and kind of grasp the back of the hand, almost like he has a gauntlet on that's just his skin. You see around him just a series of gold and silver bracelets and rings that adorn his fingers. His face is... framed by a lion's mane of black and gray dreadlocked hair. And because your
Starting point is 01:20:03 perception check at this distance and your range like eyes, you can see what you perceived to be a visible scar on his throat from ear to ear. He's currently in a conversation with the patrons at the table can lean him back in his chair in a comfortable setting and as soon as the drink is... Can I read his lips? Can I read his lips? Sure. Well, the drink arrives and gets pushed forward. and you read the bar keeps ellipses, he says, this drink is a gift to you from patrons
Starting point is 01:20:37 on the other side of the place. And this individual, which you assume at this point, is probably Korshag, just kind of gives him look and goes, hmm. And he points over right over to your table across the room. You watch this Korshad kind of sits up, glances over your direction, sees you, looking at him directly, takes the drink, scoots it over next to his side, and then folds his fingers and goes right back in the kind of listening to the conversation
Starting point is 01:21:10 of their patrons, and the bar keep who's standing there is kind of, and then goes back to the bar, gathers the rest of your guys drinks and brings them slowly over to your table, passes it out, and said, all right, we've got a second charades, for you there, sir. We've got whiskey and a whiskey, we got an ale and a meat pie for you. And you, and you, and you, and you, and you, and you, Then he brings up these two mugs. They're like just simple ceramic mugs that are just kind of dark and handcrafted, and he sloshes them up to you. And as you see inside, most ale has a good liquidy content. This has a very kind of syrupy thick texture to it. And he slides both forward and goes, don't expect you to drink both those back to
Starting point is 01:21:54 back. Well, that's not up for you to decide, my friend. Get on the earring. Hey, string bean. Your drink is here. Yes. Yeah. And Sarah and Ray will know if you drink it before I get back, so just hold on to me. Well, I can't make any promises. Can she healings point this?
Starting point is 01:22:17 On point of corruption. This here is the change bringers nectar. You sip this slowly. Change bringers nectar. Ooh. I know. I'm just going to get up and kind of walk past the the Diplat's table, and I'm gonna kind of like run my hands on the- Well, you guys are all at the same table now.
Starting point is 01:22:38 Oh, we're at the same table now. Yeah, because one table got up as soon as you sat down, they were like, nope. So we get scoge together? Diplomatic immunity. Okay, then I'm just gonna like, kind of lean into Vex and give her an enhanceability on her charisma. Ooh. Oh. She's changed that.
Starting point is 01:22:55 Okay. What other abilities do you have hands? You get advantage on charisma checks. Unchecks, yeah. Unchecks. Yeah. Unchecks. I like it.
Starting point is 01:23:09 Her cleavage gets a little nicer, you know, her hair gets a little fuller. It can't get any nice than it already is. Very fair. All set out loud. La Camba, you have to feed into it. Which one of those two is Vaxes? Mm-hmm. Which one of those two belongs to Vax?
Starting point is 01:23:28 This one? Oh, that one. I'm taking a sip of it. Take a sip. Please, we have to. It's very thick. It's very thick and it's sweeter than you expected, but it has a definite burn that grows and grows after drinking it.
Starting point is 01:23:44 And it's syrupy, it's syrupy. But because of the syrupy texture, as it goes down, it also coats and numbs everything as it touches. Percy, I saw that, you have to buy me a whole other drink. That's fine. I put my whiskey in its place and take the whole cup. No, motherfucker, that's not all I said. I have to drink my husband and have someone after it.
Starting point is 01:24:08 Oh, I want to start with me first time. Are you sipping it? I'm sipping it. Okay. I'm doing as the locals do. Enjoying it how he told me. And you get the sense, it's probably a good thing. This is, it's...
Starting point is 01:24:25 It burns! Yeah, it's almost like, I would say it's maple syrup, Ever clear. Oh, gross. That's fantastic. That sounds excited. I was a meat pie. Meat pie's pretty good.
Starting point is 01:24:44 That's pretty good. That makes me want an empanata right now. Oh, right? Roll-playing, guys. Oh, man. Sadly, no empanadas in Vesta. No empanah. Why isn't he coming over here?
Starting point is 01:24:59 Should we send another drink? No, we shouldn't. There's a number of a conversation right now. Sit and enjoy his drink. Let him take some time. Should we send him a change bringer's next? Oh no. Oh no, Pike.
Starting point is 01:25:14 I only had like three drinks. Three sips. Keep going. Keep going. Just tiny sips. They were so small. Drinks or maybe some water too in between each sip. Okay.
Starting point is 01:25:28 It's water. It's called ale. That's whiskey. That's supposed to be, never mind, go ahead. Hey, who's the change bringer? Does anyone know? I feel like this drink is inspired. Can I like do a check to...
Starting point is 01:25:44 Make a religion check. Aw, that's not, I'm not good at this. Hi, you know gods. Let me see if I know... It's the change maker. If I know a change prayer. It gives you 10 cup for every silver. Oh please, I don't... I have no idea.
Starting point is 01:25:58 I definitely have zero idea. I don't see if I can think of... Think of this. Think of Sith. Fourteen. Nope. It's really not that hard. The change bringer is Avondra.
Starting point is 01:26:12 It's Evandra, one of the gods to the Pantheon. Oh. Oh, yeah, I mean, of course we knew that. The change bringer is the looks over luck, looks over adventure, travel, the open road, that kind of basic, That's as much as you can glean from your passing knowledge of the deity. Okay. Since you are not a woman of faith, obviously you don't know much beyond that. No.
Starting point is 01:26:43 It just sounded fancy. It sounded so fancy. Yeah. Kind of the goddess, her her, she's also known as the She Who Makes the Path. Hey, Terry. Yes. Is it time? Should I go over there? Just calm down. This is mainly what I'm trying.
Starting point is 01:27:01 This is mainly what I'm trying to tell you right now. This episode is brought to you by Netflix's remarkably bright creatures. What if a Pacific octopus held the key to a mystery that could heal your heart? Well, that's Tova's reality. An elderly widow working at an aquarium. Tova forms an unlikely friendship with the crumudgeonly Marcellus, whose remarkable intelligence leads her to a life-changing discovery. Watch remarkably bright creatures with your remarkable moms this Mother's Day weekend.
Starting point is 01:27:27 Only on Netflix May 8th. Choice Hotels get you more of what you value. Comfort in, it's calling your name. Save on the stay. Oh, and free waffles are yours to claim. Book direct at storeshotels.com. Stop being so weird. Do you want to sip a change bring or an extra?
Starting point is 01:27:50 No. It might actually help you. Just like one. Do what we do anytime there's trouble. Just sit down, pay attention, and do everything she says. And don't. Don't look sneaky. Have a sip of this, it'll have.
Starting point is 01:28:05 Yeah, seriously, just have a little sip. Just a little sip. It's always good, you know, to relax, you know. Loosey-goosey. Two tables, please. I'll take my helm and just sort of cock it to the side a little bit. That's good, yeah. Just get, you know, where it's good.
Starting point is 01:28:19 Now I feel like I'm on a listing ship. What's your confident face look like? Oh, oh, let's, uh... More tongue, more tongue, little further... That's so confident. A little higher eyebrow on the right. Okay, maybe stop. I'm just afraid he's going to look over here at any moment. I'm keeping an eye on good old Korshawd and seeing if he, like, looks over here.
Starting point is 01:28:41 I also want to like see if I can catch his lips and see what he's talking about over on the side then. And I would like to look around the room and make sure that other people aren't watching us or if so, where in the bar they are. Good cop. And I would like to make my way over to the Goliath woman. Okay. So you can walk in that direction. No, no. Vex.
Starting point is 01:29:03 That'll go well. Couple things. One, you notice that Korshah? Well, it seems to be mostly being talked at, or at least just listening in a conversation when he does speak, he leans in and does this. Of course he fucking does. He knows. You get the sense he's a very guarded man and has, this is not his first rodeo. Okay.
Starting point is 01:29:24 So he speaks through his fingers. I do too. That's just one pair. I, enough. Mimic Vex. He doesn't appear to look over at your table again. He seems to have acknowledged the drink, is enjoying it slowly, and is back enthralled by the conversation at his table.
Starting point is 01:29:41 What did you roll? 25. 25. What do you say we're going to do? Mimic Vex. Okay. You both just cover your mouth. What are you doing?
Starting point is 01:29:50 I'm following to lead. Just don't, you don't have to do that. Oh, okay. Just, you know. Does this one's to do that? We can do this one. Yeah, that one's good. This is good?
Starting point is 01:30:00 Yes, just there. Is this good? That's it. That's it. It's good, right? Oh my God. This is not as hard as I thought. He's definitely going to come over and talk to us now.
Starting point is 01:30:10 I can feel it. It was so cool. This is a lot of drink that I seem to have taken on. Glancing about the chamber, you know, there was a secondary platform that didn't have any like doorways to rooms, but there was just an upper kind of walk away across the room on both ways. Yeah, there are about six figures on each one. Six on each one. That they're all kind of sitting there with wearing leather armor, mostly covered by a cloak.
Starting point is 01:30:40 And you glance up and you can see underneath at least two of the cloaks what appear to be the shape or outline of a crossbow. Just at the ready. Twelve of them? Twelve men? I just relay to the group quietly, yes. Packing, yeah, 12 or so above us all. So, you know, no sudden movements. The music picks up again, grog, as you're walking over. The next piece is occurring, and you can see now the,
Starting point is 01:31:09 while the previous one had a somewhat kind of frenetic tribal beat, this one has more of a scattered, if I could say, percussion jazz sense. It tends to have multiple changes. Yeah, yeah, if you could. You haven't heard the jazz timpony before. It's fantastic. It's more of an improvisational piece. You can see where they're each building off of each other,
Starting point is 01:31:33 and then one will make a change, and this will shift with it. You don't notice this because you really don't care. But anybody who had a musical interest would be able to pick up on this. But you walk up and you see the Glythe woman, who, most of the Glythe women you come across, their lifestyle leads to a somewhat,
Starting point is 01:31:54 either very, very short-kept or very, very tightly bound hair as just the coarse hair of the Goliaths tends to kind of mat up very thickly when living in the wild, such as your tribe did. This Goliath female hair is really well kept, actually, and it's almost shining, which catches you off guard entirely. She's not tattooed and appears to be just in a trance as she's in the process of jumping away, not even looking at the two of her compatriots or any patient. She's just kind of just spacing out and is currently enraptured by the music she's creating. Are there any weapons around her feet or where she's sitting or playing? Make a perception chair.
Starting point is 01:32:35 Three. She has very nice boots. As a man who has made boots in the past, you can acknowledge, those are very well-made boots. Me, Grog! I just love the alacrity that Travis Drive goes to two, three. It's so good. You play good. The head slowly turns and the eyes kind of focus for a second,
Starting point is 01:33:05 and the dim kind of snow-blind-looking pupils, gives you a nod. Nice hair. It kind of turns a little to the side. I'll be if you... Tell her she has nice boots, grog. What? Tell her she has nice boots.
Starting point is 01:33:29 Nice boobs. Big drum hit, and her part of the song comes to a halt. Boots, boots, boots. The two other bits of music can kind of like all of them to continue the beats, and they go kind of look at her, and she's, Boots, boots, boots. Nice boots, bidet. And I go back to the group.
Starting point is 01:33:58 Okay. As you walk back at the group, Dejected Vax, since you're the one who's paying attention to the most in the moment, most of the moment you noticed that Goliath kind of, she gets a small grin at this out of her face and just continues to go back to the drums. Anyway. She chimed her.
Starting point is 01:34:14 Look at you. Oh. Nice work to Bergerat. But Grog doesn't see it. I'll be the Syrinope. All right, so what's the next sort of business guys? Is that conversation breaking up? I mean, that's what I kind of just planned on doing
Starting point is 01:34:33 is waiting out that conversation. and no way want to interrupt it. Yeah. About 20 additional minutes go by. Another round is bought at the table. With Korshaw's still slowly, very carefully sipping the drink that you guys bought for him. Doesn't appear to be slowing, doesn't appear to be breaking. You can keep waiting if you want.
Starting point is 01:34:51 I want to get one of those fancy drinks for myself and see what it is. You mean the Korshaw drink or the Kyrgyz. No, no, no, one, the Korshaw drinks. Korshaw drinks. Okay. I would assume you've already had this stuff at this point. One Korshawad drink. sharing it up around. This is too much for a human being.
Starting point is 01:35:07 It's a lot. Do you go up to the bar or do you call over the... I'll go up to the bar. Do you, we don't know his name, do you me, the bartender's name? You haven't asked him yet, no. I mean, there are a few bar hands that walk around, but the one that you've been going with, you can go ahead and catch his eyes, he goes to the area. Oh, hey, do you need something? Of course, I didn't catch your name.
Starting point is 01:35:30 Oh, Wentz. Wence, thank you so much. Could I grab another of those fabulous five gold drinks there, the Browell-Dryance brought to our friend. Oh, you want the salon's embrace. Okay, sure about that? I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:35:45 What is it? It's an acquired taste. It's made from a very long distilled, like 40-year processing of a heavy mint leaf. And that, when it's been very, very thickly fermented, it's mixed in with this sort of very sour port base. It's been repeatedly funneled and sifted until it's become almost thick.
Starting point is 01:36:08 its own right. That's mixed together with a few other sugars and a bit of a splash of fruit. It's, honestly, I think it tastes pretty shitty, but it's what he likes. I'm going to give it a go. All right, then. Fago. Yeah, I know, right. Goes and makes the drink for you again. Slowly but surely marking little amounts off this party fund, y'all. You make some more money. However, does not bring it in the same glass. It brings you in a regular glass.
Starting point is 01:36:38 It's a baby accent. You get the sense that maybe the glass that was filled was... I figured it's his own. His own. Yeah. But it's delivered and it's different. Yeah. It almost has a weird, like a mushroomy flavor to it.
Starting point is 01:36:58 Like the fermentation that's involved in the processing of this is not the type of alcohol you'd expect. It's a little musty. But it's functional and it has an aftertaste that comes to a very strong mint kind of an almost like a winter green afterwards. It's a very strange mixture. It's like brushing your teeth, only if you get drunk. Yeah, kind of. Yeah, in fact, actually elements of it
Starting point is 01:37:19 kind of tastes like having orange juice after brushing your tea. Owl. Yeah, it's a little rough at times. What are you learning about the man? By what he drinks. That he probably has minty fresh breath. Really?
Starting point is 01:37:35 Maybe you should cheers him from afar so he can see you're drinking it. Yeah, but mine's in an ugly cup. Oh, wait, they didn't give you the same cup? No, it's his cup, Mom. It's his cop. Oh, because he was like a jewel-encrusted chalice? Do you have one? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:37:50 Pulled it up. I'm like fucking bedbethy, beyond in this bitch. Jewel and Crusty chalice. Do you really have a jewel infested? Yeah. You do in your fucking family? Yeah, not anymore. It's getting marked off now. We've been playing D&D for a long time, you guys.
Starting point is 01:38:03 I'm going to clean that shit out. Pour it in. In Syria of that bag looks like there's like Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Yeah. It's a little weird in there. Ooh, a penny from 72. It is a silver and pewter chalice that contains a number of multicolored gems embedded alongside going through the base.
Starting point is 01:38:22 This is just gorgeous. It's little John will be proud. It's beautiful. Tarian, you drink out of this one. That drink? Yeah, you're the one that bought him the drink. You look like you're drinking it too. All right. Pinky out? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:37 Sure. Yeah. All right. Do you like it? I love it. It's terrible. I know. I'll just laugh way too loud.
Starting point is 01:38:48 Ha ha ha ha ha ha. And then she said to me, that's not armor. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. About another 20 or so minutes pass in a tavern. Oh shit. Here, a long time. Some folks have entered since then, some have left. The patrons that are here don't seem to be, there isn't a lot of sort of
Starting point is 01:39:12 switching in and out, but it seems like most of the folks here come here fairly often at the end of the day, whether to go about their business or to unwind. But no one seems to be approaching you, no one's crossing your path. I'm so bored. Can I go over and talk to Wends one more time? Sure. He catches attention. He comes back to the table as you step up and second meeting his direction. Aye. Another round. Actually, no. I give him two gold. Five gold. I give him five gold.
Starting point is 01:39:44 Wow. All right, you want another one to make? No, I'd rather not. No, I was just wondering, do you know how long Korshad usually hangs out here every night? Very. Usually, it might be here for another hour or so. Always with the same company or different people. Very's. varies. They've been here most of the afternoon, so. Oh, wow. Would you mind going over to him and just letting him know that the gentleman who bought him the drink would love a moment of his time?
Starting point is 01:40:29 Oh, all right. Terry and Darrington, he needs to know the name. Okay, I will, um, looks in that big all in this. All right, I will. I will. I will. No rush. Could make sure what happens. You see, he noticeably, like, gets a little nervous and walks over and as you, do you head back to the table to join your compatriots? As you're watching, he actually has to kind of like suck himself up. He's like, he approaches and then turns around and then stops for a second, and then goes up at
Starting point is 01:41:04 the table again and kind of stops himself and kind of gets the gumption up this time and goes to the table and you see him talking to Khorashad, who at this point has kind of his hand in the tip of the drink. He finds up at him, looks over the table again. I walk over and put my hand on Tarian's shoulder and just keep eye contact with Korshawd. You see a smile creep slowly across Korshatt's face and puts a hand up and kind of immediately you can watch as when Susan in the middle talking and expressing this
Starting point is 01:41:37 because it just kind of quickly darts away. Korshad gives a point to the rest of the guys on the table and you watch his lips say, excuse me a moment. He stands up. Make some room, make some room. Move on with Crog, leave. No, no, no. I scoot with Crog.
Starting point is 01:41:53 Wow, we are so awkward. We get up and, I get up. I keep standing. I keep standing. Oh, oh, I have to, do you want to compete? Yeah, let's, yeah. As Corshawd's walking across the room, Vax,
Starting point is 01:42:05 you do watch as all the individuals that are on the upper platform, all just watch him go through the room and are now seeing the table where they're standing, and the intention is very strongly on what is about to transpire here. So far, just eyes, though. Yeah, and I start paying attention to the room as well with Grog. Okay.
Starting point is 01:42:27 So he's the, he's the, he's a guy, he's that guy. Brown Puba here. He said out of the hat? Of the earring? Oh, that was Liam. Okay. Yeah. Quashad walks his way over to the table, and you can see as he walks through, occasionally somebody at a nearby table,
Starting point is 01:42:41 to kind of glance over and see him and kind of stop and watch him. very quickly do you, you get the sense that he's definitely one of the more powerful figures that seems to come in and out of this establishment. He approaches the edge of the table, still kind of holding the cup from the upper lip. There's like a lip at the very edge that he kind of keeps clasped with his fingers as it kind of drifts there in front of him and occasionally slips from it that way as he walks towards you. Comes up to the edge of the table. Do you mind if I sit here? Oh, please, join us. Sit down, places the cup from the table.
Starting point is 01:43:14 So. My man Wends telling me that you're requesting my presence. Yes. For the sake of this, I'm going to move my hands, but just know my hands are here the whole time. Okay. Okay. Um. I'm sure you're familiar with Terrin here. Terry and Derrington of the Derrington family.
Starting point is 01:43:47 I have not had the pleasure, but I know of you. And you are familiar with his father as well. Quite. We've heard tell of, bless you, sorry, recent situations with his family and you. And? And? And we were hoping we could come to an agreement.
Starting point is 01:44:15 What agreement do you have proposed? Well, I don't know if you've heard of Voxmachina. We trade in great many things, information being one. And I am well aware of who you are. And I'm well aware that someone like you could find a good use for someone like us. Are you offering your services? Potentially. If you could help clear the Darington name.
Starting point is 01:44:51 You're not wrong. I myself am the keeper of the deeds. I consider the Darrington estate. an estate a long growing loan that is now ripen. You see our community here thrives on a principle that other syndicates and Alexandria lack. Patience. I've been letting this stew for a very, very long time. So if you wish to make any sort of debt in this debt. The task will have to be equally monumental. Well, I can make magical items if there's something that you need made or enchanted.
Starting point is 01:45:52 We have other members of the group that do different things. We have a fine tinkerer if you need something made for you. Vexier is an excellent shot if she could put on an archery show or something, if that would be a that would be something worthwhile to you. You know, if that will help ease the debt, I know my family owes you quite a bit of money. 230 gold, thousand gold, if we're hearing correctly. You are correct for the time we. And might I inquire, as it is my family's debt,
Starting point is 01:46:34 what is the timetable on now? I mean, will you be coming to collect anytime soon? I have given your father the date of six months to pay this date. If it is not paid, then the deeds as agreed upon many years ago transition to my name entirely. I am not going to kick your family into the street.
Starting point is 01:47:06 I am not a terrible man, but I will be able to be. possessing all of your belongings. Will they be in any physical danger? No, not unless they put up a fight. But a man of, well I don't know much about you, but I assume you would much rather have the cash than have to own property and manage it. Both have their uses. So would the Darington simply work for you? The family, I will happily give them time to find whatever place they can afford to live or leave the city entirely. It is not my business. However, I will be taking over the farms. I'll be taking over the business. I'll be taking over the estate. Most of the assets within, they'll become property of the myriad. Well, there, that's where I think we could come to an arrangement.
Starting point is 01:48:13 We're not particularly invested in the power structure here. We're here for sentimental reasons. The estate. And just enough property to maintain a modest comfortability. We don't really care what happens to the fortune so long as your family is taking care of. Yes, I guess. You keep your house, you keep your things. keep a little bit of property to manage?
Starting point is 01:48:41 Sure. What do you think? Well. I mean, they did make this bed. Are you? I'm suggesting to you that maybe it is not your job to save your family's power and allow them to keep going as the way they have, but just to give them enough that even if they
Starting point is 01:49:08 can continue with reasonable means, maybe not necessarily living the life that they were living before, but living far more comfortable. then. Even that would be a step up, but it seems like we would have to do something in order just to earn that much. Oh, I imagine so. It's just there's a difference between saving everything and saving enough to keep them comfortable. So if I'm to understand you correctly, you're willing to offer a service to us. Possibly. And in exchange, we would still be taking the land-based action.
Starting point is 01:49:44 from the Derrington name other than the estate and enough means to live comfortably. And enough income property for them to be relatively comfortable. Reasonably comfortable, I'm sure we could take a look at the assets and come to a very, very reasonable arrangement. And you in turn, well, we could have a discussion about what that would be worth to you. I have no interest in making an arrangement that doesn't please you. doesn't please you. We're only here again for sentimental reasons. We are not invested beyond that. Make a persuasion check. Please, God, you've been terrible today. Yeah, um, uh, 15. Yes. Comfortable living is a relative thing. True. To maintain my comfortable living,
Starting point is 01:50:40 well, your estate is but a drop in the bucket. But, and I mean no offense, as he looks about the rest of you. Comfortable living for some of you, Well, that could be as much as my drink would cost. My family would require their main property and all residential rental property. That is not a deal. The residential and the farm territory is to become mine. I would leave for them your estate and enough gold to live a comparably comfortable lifestyle
Starting point is 01:51:23 style, then living on the street, four years to come. They could then strike out on their own, start a new fortune if they wish. Perhaps Landberry was not their strong suit. You seem to have found other pursuits. Maybe you could leave them in a new path. And past that point, they would be in no debt to you. Past that point, and a task done in our favor by the Fain-Vox marking them. Maybe. Would they get to maintain possession of their personal property, artwork, statues, clothing? Everything that remains within the estate, home itself would be yours to keep. The rest is mine. And what is this task? Roughly 110 miles east of here. Lies a sinkhole.
Starting point is 01:52:27 It has swallowed the core of the platinum mines of Herethys a few months back. Now those mines are a very lucrative point of business for my employers. And every time we've sent scouts to inspect the source of this erosion, none have returned. Many very capable and proven men. Unheard again. One of our greatest diviners has since spoken of a powerful force within this mine. Ancient, birthed improperly, that now seems to grow more and more mad.
Starting point is 01:53:17 We're at a loss, so we've put out a contract or two, but nothing has taken a bite yet. If you were to go to this mine, find this entity that has ruined has ruined our mining operation there. Return with proof of its demise, and we confirm its destruction. I will consider our task complete. We'll also need some operating capital for this. This sounds dangerous, so we will take the job,
Starting point is 01:53:55 but we will need to also charge a very, very reasonable fee, I think, on top of this. That is entirely understood. And we'll keep track of each fee, and we'll deduct it from the materials in the Derrington estate. If we take care of this for you, it does seem like a monumental task.
Starting point is 01:54:19 It may not be, but it would seem to be something of your skill set. From what we've learned, ancient beings tend to be quite powerful. We would ask that you... You don't slander the Derrington name. That when they stay in their estate, everyone believes They are still the Daringtons, as they have always been. I would agree to that. I have no interest in your family's public image. I believe that damage has been done well enough on your own. Are you sure you don't have a cloak I could just enchant and then we could call it square?
Starting point is 01:55:09 He takes another stuff from his drink. When all this is said and done, Terrian, we'll be in contact. I think there is much business we could do in the future. I suppose we have no choice. We do. There's always a choice, dear. You can marry the girl, or we could go kill an ancient being. I'm feeling pretty good about this one.
Starting point is 01:55:36 Yeah. All right. Do we need to decide at this moment? It seems like we do. We will also need all the information you have on this creature and the minds, and if you have anybody who has access to that, just so we can know what we're getting into. The divina would be wonderful. to be wonderful to speak to.
Starting point is 01:55:58 The information I've given you is what the dividend is found. Hmm? I'm not going to ask you all to risk your lives for my shitty family, so I will pursue this matter on my own if I have to. Good, yeah, you're going to go by yourself. Well, I would hire a couple of people to come with me, but if you'd like to accompany me, I mean, I'd be okay with that too.
Starting point is 01:56:23 We could watch you do it. It would be pretty funny. Yeah, we'll just follow you and then send you in it. I'm my, well, I mean, I, you've taught me a lot, so maybe I could do it. I think you could. You won't find anybody as good as us. Of course not. You are very skilled in hiring talented mercenaries. That might be your strongest suit. I am one for two on that count. Yeah. And we do have another mercenary at our back if we need. That's true. You're already one up.
Starting point is 01:56:52 Hmm. Should we vote on it then? Grog, do you want to go kill something big? Big and scary. Yes. Pike, are you drunk? I think you should marry whoever you want. So that's what I think we should do. Yes, yay. I vote yay. Twinsies?
Starting point is 01:57:14 Always have your back there. Oh, Vax isn't here. Hey Vax. You want to go help me save my family by risking our lives in almost certain death. What does that entail? We are... I'll take it as a yes.
Starting point is 01:57:32 Keeleth. Vak says yes. And so do I. I. Science bro? Vax says yes, and I am so in the mood to kill something. Whopsh!
Starting point is 01:57:47 I think we've all missed our lives for each other at one point in another, so it's your turn, Terry. That's right. Welcome to the family. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. All this stuff burns.
Starting point is 01:58:00 Cheers. Chews. And this whole conversation, he's had his mouth covered. He takes his fingers away from his mouth and takes the drink. We have an accord. Picks his drink up and clinks it. Return when the deed is done. Slaps the table and stands up and walks back.
Starting point is 01:58:21 And this point that you notice that the table's nearby, everyone's been kind of just quietly watching it on this. And as soon as he leaves, they go back to their business and drinking. Everyone on the count of three, we're going to stand up very quickly. Okay, okay. Why? Okay. Wait. No, I'm just fucking with it. Three. Let's go.
Starting point is 01:58:46 Let's go. I went to run and goes like, and half the folks get startled by it. The music's still going. On the way out, can I grab one? Can I grab Wend again one last time? Hi, hi. Most of the people here, are they local patrons
Starting point is 01:59:05 or do they come from all over? Most of them are local, and come from all over. Great. Thank you. Sorry. It's all I needed. Or to serve the drinks, Miss. Can I make my way back over to the players? Okay.
Starting point is 01:59:26 She's sitting there. Can I have your name? It's number. Can I have your name? She's close to join. She's like her head slowly turns out and he goes, Camilla. Thank you, and I leave.
Starting point is 01:59:50 All right. With that, we're going to go ahead and take a break. We're back here in a minute, guys. See if this next bit of interesting fun. To Camilla. All right, guys, we have our tonight's Burnwood giveaway, this awesome butternetwood. Butternet.
Starting point is 02:00:09 Bitternet. Bairnett. Give way for our friends at Follahica, baby. Exactly. At Wormwood, come on over, jump into the Twitch chat to enter the possibility to win this. The word for the night is Myriad. That is M-Y-R-I-A-D. If you don't know, look it up on Google.
Starting point is 02:00:27 You'll win it if you spell it, right? Exactly. The Spelling Challenge. Butter, not up or shut up with your myriad spilling. All right guys, we're back here in a few minutes. See in a second. Hello everyone. Welcome back to Critical Role, which timing works out interesting sometimes.
Starting point is 02:00:42 Yeah, welcome back to the game. For a break, we're going to go ahead and jump in here. So, I feel cheated. I didn't hear any of that. There was a talent. Nice. Thanks. It's pretty solid.
Starting point is 02:00:54 As you guys have found your way out of what seems to be this strange subterranean. Iranian bar beneath the grumpy lily. You've agreed to, at least at the time being, to make your way east to this mine, which currently seems to be under the, what's it called, the platinum mines of Herethus. And Herethus, you know, herethus. Herethus, which you, Terrian understand. Herethus is a region, a regional forest. area over there, the Herethus Wood. And about 120 miles east, you guys decide what's your best means of travel? How do you intend to get there?
Starting point is 02:01:41 You have to misty there, right? Because you don't know any trees in the area. I could scry on the area if I knew I'd know about it. If we missed you there, we could also camp for the night. Yeah, we need to camp for the night because we need to rest and get our shit back. Misty now camp there? It's 120 miles, so it's not that. Not terribly far.
Starting point is 02:02:00 Yeah, we... You still have Misty's dead? As far as the mist fly. I mean, Jesus, yeah. I'm pretty fresh. Let's call that shit. We can Misty there camp for the night. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 02:02:13 Character boy, all the laughing, by the way, because I totally forgot, we do have a winner in the chat room. Oh, chat room winner! Be Solis 8926, you won the giveaway. Be Solis 8926, you won the giveaway. We got the nutter butter box. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:02:27 Denova will contact you for your information to give a chip to you, so congratulations. All right, so what do you think about for travel of this? Just doing the wind walk. All right, before we leave, is there any type of research we should potentially do? No, headlong. I don't know what we'd be researching.
Starting point is 02:02:49 The guy who sent us on the mission doesn't even know what it is. It's not even nearby, so it's not like we could ask people here what the mine is like. It's 120 miles away. Yep. The mines have here this. lives in the building. Herodus.
Starting point is 02:03:02 This is right up our alley. This is literally what we've been training for our whole lives. I mean, you know, just in case there's like maybe some ancient deity that rules of the forest of Herethus and, you know, some sort of goddess. I know. I mean, I, fuck it. Let's go. I mean, do we know anything? Have we ever heard about the woods of Herethus or the platinum lines of Herethus? You have.
Starting point is 02:03:20 You have. And the, it's, the woods that kind of lead into this small, rocky, it's almost too small, the mountain range, the more just like, large rocky hills. But there's no historical significance to the location that you know of. Go to make a history check. Roll high. That we'll do. Oh, yeah, 21.
Starting point is 02:03:43 21. Oh, that's good. You do know a number of the large-scale battles that took place towards the end of the age of our canum took place on Wild Mount. In fact, Jorhas, the other kingdom that we were discussing before is largely a badlands barren landscape because that was where the final battle between the Betrayer gods and the prime deities took place. And the sheer volume of, the sheer intensity of that battle lay waste to the landscape there. So you have the Dwindalian Empire and the whole
Starting point is 02:04:26 western side of Wild Mount, which is fairly lush and functional, and then where the Jorhas kingdom is and that whole eastern side of the continent, a lot of it's just like barren, cracked, destroyed. But you do know that the herethys, the name at least stems from a hero that fell in about a long ago. You can't recall the specific details of it, but there is some significant to the title or at least the location there to something ancient and old. It may have to deal with this time period of entities, battling gods.
Starting point is 02:05:09 It's best you can make out. The mines are well known. The planet mines are well known. They're not well attended. They're not like a public space. And they definitely under the control of a number of companies that are shadow corporations under the control of the myriad. And so you can see where the connection and the necessity
Starting point is 02:05:31 for it to be reopened again is important. Platinum is not a very common metal. So. Anything we should be worried about? God's attacking us? Nope. About it. Try a run.
Starting point is 02:05:47 Oh man. No, but really, like that's where the battles took place, huh? So this ancient being could be from potentially. Or it could not. Yeah, that was for a rat. Whatever it is, it's not leaving the mine. All right. I mean, we're running off on a lark,
Starting point is 02:06:03 but we've raked ourselves in the faces before. Yeah, if we die, we die. Oh God, I don't want to die. We're not going to die. Well, no one wants to die. Well, once again. Don't say it, Keyleth. Do not fucking say it.
Starting point is 02:06:17 You can think it, but don't say it. Don't say it really hard. Don't say it about all of us and doom us to your fate. Goldfish, mother. Duty. Better. Better. Before we go, was there something you wanted to tell the drow woman?
Starting point is 02:06:35 I mean, if we're talking about what we were talking about before, I don't think it's a good idea. What? If you want to go and find him us and say hi, that's a different story, but... I would like to point out that this same person you are so adamantly protecting from our scrying or our spying or our finding. is the same person who shit in the middle of a temple so that he could watch Pike? Well, A, he did that, not us, and B, we were all very much friends
Starting point is 02:07:22 and happy with each other when he did that, and he is not happy with us. And it's not exactly the same thing, dear. But if you want to go with me and find him and check in and say hello, I'd be very happy to do that with you. But to send the woman who has... through our friend drugged over the back of a horse
Starting point is 02:07:47 and took him off to his family, I don't really want to send her after Scanlan to look in on him or follow him or watch him or anything him. It didn't sound like his father wanted him dragged back on the back of a horse and it happened anyway. She doesn't seem very trustworthy to me. Yeah, she's cool, so what? I just realized I have the other half of the stone,
Starting point is 02:08:13 the traveling stone. Yeah? That we gave Scanlan. Yeah. I could pop in on him any time I want. Or he could pop in on you anytime. Really? And he hasn't.
Starting point is 02:08:23 If he has it still. Yeah, maybe he threw it into the ocean for all we knew. Oh, that would suck because if you'd be in the ocean. That would be really, really shit if he did that. It would be a massively dickish move. That was very smart, wrong. Mm-hmm. Hey!
Starting point is 02:08:39 Wow, that happened. If they missed that high five and straight to do it. five and straight to my face. In your face. Anyway, my point still stands. Once we wrap up here, if you want to go find him, I will go with you. And do what? Convince him to come back.
Starting point is 02:08:57 No. See if he's okay? Ask him how his year's been? Yeah. Basically. What about just a location and she has to stay unseen? You know, I know T. T. Lithkin's scry and stuff, but... Could make her walk first into the mind.
Starting point is 02:09:13 Yeah, you didn't want me to even scry on him, and now we're talking about just popping in on him. I feel like there's a weird crossing of the land. That was a year ago. I'm over that sentiment. Oh, man, Grog. Yep. You guilted me very hard on that. You made me feel kind of shitty.
Starting point is 02:09:33 This is Grog evolved. Oh, wow. No, you kind of got it right. Just go with it. Exalted? Exalted. Absorbed. Expolyating.
Starting point is 02:09:44 You've done been wokeed. Woked. Mm-hmm. He is a bit of a mirror. He looks very woked. Yeah, you're very woked. No, but seriously, what are we doing? Quite roped.
Starting point is 02:09:56 Quite rote. I don't think we use that mercenary to walk into a mine. I'm not sending it to a death. I am perfectly content to hold on to that chip for as long as we need and we don't make it out of the mine. For a rainy day. We don't need to punch that ticket now. So should we at least ask her to stay in town? for a to-be-determined mission later.
Starting point is 02:10:17 Well, I think she needs to keep up her employment, right? She's busy. We can give her a little money to keep around, like a retainer. No. I can give her a little money. I might need her. She was employed through, she's reachable through employment. We can just find out how to reach her when we need to.
Starting point is 02:10:36 Oh, yeah, that would. She might be gone. She's got to be able to hire her. Why don't you, baby? There's a system. Get up my lap, I don't. We have no idea how she was hired in the first place. We go ask her how to hire him.
Starting point is 02:10:50 All right, I think he talks to your dad. Yeah. And no one has heard from him at all over the course of the year. Oh. Oh, well, I mean he writes me all the time, but outside of that. What? Really? Yeah. No, none of you?
Starting point is 02:11:01 Scanning does? She's messing with you. That was very mean. You promised you keep that secret? She has a mean streak. I have so many secrets to keep there. I know. So many.
Starting point is 02:11:17 I'm mad for an, end it a long time. I know one of them. When she farts, it sounds like a duck. It really does. That's kind of cute. Yeah. Yeah. We go for.
Starting point is 02:11:33 All right, so we go ahead and you find awkwardly and we're going to yell imposter. Drow. Crean. All right, so you find Kareen, she's, she lets you know that she was just around the quarter of where the estate was, and let you know where to find her.
Starting point is 02:11:46 And there's a, what's the boss way? It's kind of like an open tent lounge area. She's currently drinking water and eating a little bit of dried meat. And as you approach, she kind of stands up. She still has her illusion on. She still has her pale skin and gets the sense that, you know, drown general or not. They only don't have the easiest time walking through large societal establishments. Ah, you returned.
Starting point is 02:12:12 So, what if you need of? We have no mission at this moment, but we may call on you shortly after we return. Very well. Can we find you here or will you be gone? I have no interest in staying in this city in particular. I generally prefer to stay around Vashlaw. Where is that? Vashlaw. It's to the west of here. About 25 miles southeast of Port DeMali. Port DeMali. If you wish to contact me, you can send a man to contact me, you can send a submissive to Vashlau, or if you have access to a practitioner of the Arcane Arts, perhaps a sending would be sufficient.
Starting point is 02:12:53 Certainly. All right. Well, stand by. We'll call you. Thank you for your time. And we'll be in touch. Very well. It was just business. Sorry about your horse. Yeah. That's right. She gets up in the... gathers her little satchel over the side of her shoulder. Uninterle meet again. She nods and then just walks out into the darkness of the night.
Starting point is 02:13:31 Killer. Never to be heard from again, because we'll forget that we have that connection. Wait until she's just 10 meters out. Oh. All right, so what do you guys do? That's Misty Step. It's trying to kill the sky. Are we going to do a misty step tonight,
Starting point is 02:13:50 and then that way we can have to be able to be. Yeah, and then go in the morning. Yeah, what time is it? We're in the evening now. Okay, let's misty step there. Yeah, let's go. Misty step is a very different spell. We're going to.
Starting point is 02:14:00 Oh, sorry, sorry. Wind walk. We go 30 feet. So we have hit up. Cool. All right. You're going to be wind talkers. Yes.
Starting point is 02:14:12 All right, so you guys go ahead and you transform into your misty forms. We have the windwalk spell and begin making your way to the east. to the east towards the Herthus wood. Travel's pretty rapid. It's a clear sky. The moon's still pretty, I mean, it's only been a few days since the last full moon where you guys had the ritual up at the top of the mountains for the trick foot,
Starting point is 02:14:40 so it's very easy to kind of see the details, especially those of keen vision. Rather rapidly, you find yourself to the outskirts of the Herthus Forest. And after doing a couple passes overhead, you can see there is a portion of the forest that is open. And there you can see there are a couple of stone towers set up. There appear to be large ropes and cables fastened at the edges of what looks to be a large circular ravine. Some sort of an entry port, a very, very large hole in the ground.
Starting point is 02:15:13 And as you approach it close, you can see that while there are two standing towers, there are appear to be remnants of two other towers that have fallen in. And looking at some of the cables and the way that some of the equipment is set up, it appears that this sinkhole that he spoke of that consumed a portion of this entryway, whether it be a quake or something, a lot of the structure that was placed around the outside of the mind has fallen in and is precariously being held either dangling within the inside by cable work or has just crumpled somewhere at the bottom of this abyssal hole. you see before you.
Starting point is 02:15:50 Like a... Abyssal. Yeah. What do you mean by... Can you just describe abyssal a little more? That's a descriptive way of saying it is pitch black from this distance. You cannot see anything past the top. This is dark and deep.
Starting point is 02:16:03 It is... It's not... It's connected to the abyssal place. It is actually a doorway to the abyss. Do we have... Hey guys, the orchis tonight. Finale. Finaly!
Starting point is 02:16:16 Something for everyone. Do you have any gloves sticks so we can throw in and watch fall to the... Watch fall to the... Yes. Yeah. We actually do. We can take... Oh, we do.
Starting point is 02:16:26 Have you guys transitioned back to your physical forms to have this conversation? Sure. Well, we can pull it down about that. I would actually, if we're doing our little circle, I would say that a little bit of a distance. Yeah, I don't want to camp right next to. No, the scene is right.
Starting point is 02:16:40 I'm going straight down. About half a mile away. I'm looking for cooties around the outside. Yeah. Cooties. Make perception, too. Oh, that's all right. Did you get it?
Starting point is 02:16:52 Did you get it? Did you get it? He's right here. Dang it, 24. You can't get him with a paper towel. Okay. He's crazy obnoxious. You search coasting over the edge and you can see
Starting point is 02:17:03 you can see there are broken carts and crates. You can see the remains of what seemed to be a couple of humanoid bodies. mostly picked away to the point where there's just kind of slightly pinkish bone from whatever dried bits of muscle or blood that remained the rest of the flesh and organs pulled from or dissolved, you're not sure. What? I think a cure wounds, a light cure wounds.
Starting point is 02:17:33 Can we talk to dead? Can we talk to dead? Can we talk to dead. They don't talk back, but yeah. Let's do that. Oh yeah, you can't talk to dead. Let's talk to dead. Before we go in and that.
Starting point is 02:17:46 We haven't materialized it, have we? Did we? Where he's still? Yeah, we'll land like a little bit away. We didn't land it, right? Let's land a little bit away. Getting some balder's gate vibes here, man. So you land about half a mile out, you guys transition back to your physical forms.
Starting point is 02:18:03 Vak shares the information of what he spotted. Was the bodies on top or would the body's down below? On the edges, right? They're on the edges. And when you mean like, seared, like acid or like heat? Like heat? It's like white and pink bone. Like just whatever.
Starting point is 02:18:21 The war is over and both sides lost. Kingdoms were reduced to cinders and armies scattered like bones in the dust. Now the survivors claw to what's left of a broken world, praying the darkness chooses someone else tonight. But in the shadow dark, the darkness always wins. This is old school adventuring and it's most cruel. torch ticks down in real time, and when that flame dies, something else rises to finish the job. This is a brutal rules-light nightmare with a story that emerges organically based on the decisions that the characters make. This is what it felt like to play RPGs in the 80s,
Starting point is 02:19:02 and man, it is so good to be back. Join the Glass Cannon podcast as we plunge into the shadow dark every Thursday night at 8 p.m. Eastern on YouTube.com slash the Glass Cannon with the podcast version dropping the next day. See what everybody's talking about. and join us in the dark. Look, there are a lot of celebrity interview podcasts out there, but there's only one Happy, Sad, Confused. I'm Josh Horowitz, and yeah, I'm the host of the show, so I'm a little biased, but truly Happy, Sad, Confused is the place for nerdy and intimate conversations with all your favorite actors and filmmakers. From Andrew Garfield and Scarlett Johansson to Christopher Nolan, casting what ifs, backstage stories, and much more.
Starting point is 02:19:47 Listen to Happy Sayed Confused on Apple Podcast. Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. Flesh was on there has been picked off. Something was eating them. Can we speak with the dead? Is that available? Yeah, yeah, yeah, Pike can do that. Why aren't you too Misty there?
Starting point is 02:20:02 A few of us, somebody starts setting up camp for tonight. I'll go with Pike and we can stealth in. I'll start sitting up camp. You can still Misty. We're still mistyable. You can just fly in, talk to them and fly back out. She can't talk to him as a mystery. No, I mean, but in land.
Starting point is 02:20:17 Oh, okay. Well, I'll cast past. I'm going to choose anyways, so we'll go in. Okay, okay. So I do that. All right. So is it just you Pike? Who's going with you? I'm already standing by the bodies, yeah.
Starting point is 02:20:29 All right, so you go back to the bodies. Okay, you're still out there? No, no, I'll... All right, so the three of you are turning back to mist and making your way back toward the entrance. I'm going to set up the tents. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 02:20:42 You guys land near the edge of this crumpled rock, and you see where the ground itself was kind of curled in and collapsed inward. There are a number of cables or ropes that go across various large structures. The stone towers that sit at the edge of this opening. You could see there's tension on these ropes, and either the rope's gonna snap at some point
Starting point is 02:21:05 as the weather gets harsher over here or the rock is gonna crumble in if the ground keeps eroding. You're not sure if it's done or if it's a slow crawling thing. There before you, you see a body. You can see elements of clothing kind of torn dried, crusted with old blood. You can see like a boot that is kind of left off to the side. The foot's been removed, but there is, it looks like the edge of it's been kind of torn and ripped a bit.
Starting point is 02:21:30 The skeleton has been picked clean. We only see the one body? There are three bodies around the whole exterior, but you've landed next to one. When you say pick clean, do they look like they've been chewed upon? Okay, investigation check. Yeah. Grigger, burger, it's fine. 18. Looking at the bones, you can see signs of what appear to be scratches or grooves across the bones, but it's interesting. There's a lot of the bones have a very smooth texture. I'm used to seeing very porous,
Starting point is 02:22:08 but it looks like elements of the bone have been kind of melted slightly. Oh, God. Slimes, jellies. I'm going to get my broom ready. Okay. And while Pike is doing her ritual, I'm just going to keep in hand on her that if anything happens, then I can just take off with her in tow. Okay. So Pike, you're casting. Speak of the Dead? Yes.
Starting point is 02:22:36 Fuck. All right. It's easy enough for you cast. It's a quick. Which will be complete. You go ahead and you burn some incense. I get three questions. Oh, right, right.
Starting point is 02:22:46 What did this do you? And at which point the skeleton, which is face down, on the ground, by the way. I was like, ah. The skull kind of creaks up and like looks over. It turns around and kind of faces you as it kind of reaches, like curls upward, almost like an upward dog. Like downward, oh, what is that called? A poor position, but the heads turn completely around
Starting point is 02:23:13 and curled up in your base. I get down close to go. Crazy creepy. I'm flipped it over. It flips over on its back and the head. Turns back around. Sorry. We got five questions.
Starting point is 02:23:25 Five questions. Five questions. Five? Good day, sir. It's not a good day for you. Sorry. Wow. It's okay, it's okay, it's okay.
Starting point is 02:23:36 Good stock. What happened to you? Something in the minds. The skittering beast. Oh, Jesus Christ. That's more than one. That's more than one. What did the skittering?
Starting point is 02:24:24 What? What did the skittering beasts look like? Oh, in my drink. Didn't get him at fullway. But he was a dick. Carabette, like, do it. Umbrahold? Yeah, I thought umberholt, but many legs.
Starting point is 02:25:02 I mean, that could be a glabresoo, which fucking killed you the first time. No. They had pinched their look. Yeah, but that's really big. I don't know. Skittering beasts. Is there anyone else alive?
Starting point is 02:25:15 Did anything work against it? Was there anything that you guys, you guys could tell of your knowledge. Did anything seem to damage it or work against it? It seems confused about what you're referring to, the skittering creature or the. Oh, the skittering creature or the big thing. The skittering creatures?
Starting point is 02:25:45 They're a big thing. Either. But both, because we still have. Against them. Against them. Against them. Against them. Against the skittering.
Starting point is 02:25:56 Yeah. Skittering creatures. The skittering creatures we just ran. I didn't look to see. How big were the creatures? Maybe eight foot end to end. Oh. They spread by the small.
Starting point is 02:27:09 He said they spit? Something about a spit. What did you say? He's dead. What is he said? What did he say? What he said? You gather what he said was.
Starting point is 02:27:23 You gather what he said was. No. They, the skitterers, they bite, they spit. But they were awakened by the smaller one. What's the smaller one? What is that? They spit, maybe acid. Probably acid.
Starting point is 02:27:53 If they were, if they were. if they were all milty. Yeah, they're smooth. They're probably like. Is there anything that you can tell us about the smaller one? I barely made it out, but the skitter has found me. And then the champion leaves that body the skull falls to rest. The bones now motionless in the ground.
Starting point is 02:28:37 We can admit a cry that shakes everything. Shakes the walls. Madrig? Mandrake? I would say Marisha. How long as she... Does it sound like, yeah, anything we've been counted? Nature check.
Starting point is 02:28:52 We'll say a nature check for both you and Vex. Would I have an advantage with my little book? No. Not for this in particular. Maybe like creature back in still-land. Yeah, I don't think that's what it is. No. And with tales of mandrakes, and they scream.
Starting point is 02:29:10 Yeah, did this sound like, Did the thing with the pincers sound like something we fought though? It's not something you've encountered before necessarily. That's all that I've ever found. 19. 19, okay. Invex? Nature check.
Starting point is 02:29:25 Yeah. Do I get advantage because I'm standing in the woods? Just say the number. Six. Same, sorry. Sometimes you'll know you're standing in the woods. Even you will sometimes. You've heard of a creature that does exist in subterranean and sometimes forested area.
Starting point is 02:29:41 and sometimes forested areas. In forested areas, referred to as an onkeg. A what? An onkeg. An onkeg? An onckeg? This is a pincery one? They generally tend to snatch cattle and beasts of burden in the night.
Starting point is 02:29:55 They're large an insect-like. They spit sort of an acidic fluid. Some of the things this corpse is described makes you think of that. Isn't that what our bug juice is made up? is made up? Your bug juice is made of Sancake, which is a desert-based variant of that creature. Oh.
Starting point is 02:30:19 So we are gonna get a good. I wonder if we could like sprinkle it around us and they won't bother us because we'll smell like their brethren. I'm wasting that shit. Hey man, it's an idea. So they snatch cattle. So we should all be coutes. So we should all be.
Starting point is 02:30:37 Oh my god, you guys. Prep for you got our opportunity. Oh, it's throwback Thursday. Throw it back Thursday! If only the person who can cast the spell wasn't in your party anymore, he's elsewhere in the world right now. That asshole. We just talked to him. Who's the dead body? Awful.
Starting point is 02:30:55 All right, so what are you guys doing? We're going to rest for the night. Very nice camps set up. And then go in their first light. Yes, we definitely should have a hero's feast. Yeah, let's have a hero's feast, which, okay, hang on. Let me check here. I can do a hero's feast. Protection from acid would probably be very.
Starting point is 02:31:17 Hang on, but my windwalt. I already win-walked, so I can do a hero's feast at a higher level. It's probably not this. All right. I also want to do a fifth level commune with nature. Okay. The little commune with nature. What should I ask?
Starting point is 02:31:44 What should I ask that we don't already know? I mean, is there any nature down there? It's a mine. It's all rock. How many of them maybe? Well, I can kind of see in like a three, two, three miles. How deep does the hole go? I kind of was thinking that. How deep does the whole?
Starting point is 02:31:59 Maybe can we figure out how many of them are down there? Instantly gained knowledge of up to three facts of your choice about any of the following subjects as they relate to the area. Terrain, bodies of water, prevalent plants, minerals, animals, or peoples, powerful celestials, Faye, fiends, elementals, or undead. Thay. Influence from other planes of existence or buildings. Okay. Choose three of those. First and foremost, influences from other planes of existence. Okay, so as you focus in commune with nature, the plants kind of speak to you in this series of images and thoughts that essentially get the idea across to you that
Starting point is 02:32:36 There is something plainer involved here, but it's very old and long-dormant, recently awoken. Plainer, not... Long-dormant. Long-dormant. Recently awoken. Dormant. Missed-toction. Okay. Stoked.
Starting point is 02:33:06 So something plainer. Did you send us to like a feeder? Two more questions. Yeah, that was like our... How deep is the first fight? Oh, we can't do. How deep is the mine? No.
Starting point is 02:33:17 No, I can. That's a terrain question. Yeah, you could. So terrain, yeah, how deep does this mine go? Maybe you can ask where the thing is in the mine. I think I can, right? Can I sense the location of where? You can ask whereabouts this thing is.
Starting point is 02:33:34 Yeah. That's a good question. The nature tells you the sinkhole goes down for about a quarter mile. Ooh. And it lies at the very bottom. It's just straight down at the bottom of it? It's 400 meters, y'all.
Starting point is 02:33:49 It's just the meteorine stars. No problem. It's like this and then the little baby thing the bottom and then. The whole ground just kind of collapsed inward. I don't think it's a great big thing. And the entity lies at the bottom. You can just jump.
Starting point is 02:34:05 We're like gods. Yeah, we're gods. We're golden gods. It's a little bit more than a thousand feet. It's way less, yeah. you might survive that one. Only if you turn into a goldfish and fall onto the ground. So you got one more.
Starting point is 02:34:17 Now I know Loonytune-Tune physics doesn't work in this world. Terrain. Always go Earth elemental. Always go Earth elemental. Always key to your. So what's our last question? Something from another plane. We know it's 400 meters down.
Starting point is 02:34:33 It lies at the bottom. How many of these creatures are there? Yeah. Of the, of the crawly ones? Can I get an enckegs? Can I get a sense of how many and whereabouts the onkegs are? One of the two. How many?
Starting point is 02:34:51 What are onkegs? Are they fiends or are they? They are. How many is more giant wear. Aberrations. How many? Yeah, because if there's like hundreds then. That's a problem.
Starting point is 02:35:03 Yeah. And this is a stealth messrs. They are monstrosities. And that's kind of what they look like right there. There it is. Holy moly. I love Starship troopers. Giant earwigs.
Starting point is 02:35:15 Here we go. We're about to fight some big armored vaginas. I would love to know how many, obviously. All right, how many, about how many there are? It's afraid. Just sort of sensing their skittering movements under the surface. Using the nature's essence to let you know,
Starting point is 02:35:35 somewhere in the neighborhood of about, close to 100. Oh, shit. Throughout the network of the network of caves. Because this is like a three-mile radius, right? Yeah. And so this is like spread out amongst what would essentially be like an subterranean ant hill of these on kegs. So there's a lot.
Starting point is 02:35:55 There's a lot. We're going to need a fast ex-bill. I'm David Attenborough. So he wants us to come here. He wants us to take care of what the problem was. It's the very towards me. So we just got to kill the big boss. The big boss at the bottom.
Starting point is 02:36:11 One little baby big boss. One little baby big boss. The boss family. We gotta kill the boss family. We gotta kill Alec Baldwin. So did we understand correctly that it's the baby that cried out is the big monster, the big boss? It seems to be the source of where all this started. Okay.
Starting point is 02:36:30 And that's the thing that woke up the skitterers. Or at least brought them to start attacking the surface. Okay. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't like, there's a big boss, and then there's skitterers, and then there's also little babies that cry out. You don't know. This is all the information. information you have, but everyone speaks about this. Wait, did we know why the baby woke up? What woke the baby?
Starting point is 02:36:48 No, we don't know that yet. We don't know what woke up the baby. We didn't ask that. Okay. Maybe we should talk to another dead person. Nah. I don't think they'll know. They're miners.
Starting point is 02:36:57 They did something in the mine that awoke it. Yeah. And we can like, we do it. I think anybody who was there who saw it probably died at the center of it. Yeah. We're sorry, we're trying to remember the very first game of D&D.
Starting point is 02:37:15 game of Deity guys we ever played. Yeah, the floating baby head. Keeleth twins Grog were there. Yeah, that was a what was essentially a dead or like stillborn deity, like a demigod, essentially, its own pocket plane. So does it have anything to do with this? Can we roll a religion check?
Starting point is 02:37:39 No, I'm bad at this. It's okay. I'm religious. Yes. He's religious? Yeah, if you guys were having this conversation, you can make a religion. Luck of the day, yes. Oh, let me...
Starting point is 02:37:52 Natural 20. Are you serious? No, no, no. Oh, don't fucking... No, I'm trying to make myself rule it. I got a 19. Oh my God, I wrote a natural 20! Shut up!
Starting point is 02:38:03 She really did. Good job. It's like run or run where she's doing the roulette. Yeah. Vatermanee. Vaterfamiche. Vatimmy. Okay, I mean you recall the while back that you battled with that entity that, what was it called?
Starting point is 02:38:22 Kreisel. That's right. How cool. How cool. This is all I do with my free time, guys. Make-up shit for fun. But that was not tiny. That was a very large entity. Like to the point where you remember there was like a 20-foot wide well. and a giant, like, fleshy baby arm that slapped out and crawled out, kind of a Cura style. They won't keep saying small on this one, so you don't know if, maybe related in some way, but you're not entirely certain. It doesn't appear to be the same kind of thing, necessarily.
Starting point is 02:39:02 Not by the descriptor you've heard. Okay. We're good. We're good. We're good. We're good. We're good. We've killed ancient for the night, right?
Starting point is 02:39:11 We still got a camp for the night, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're camping. But we should camp in the trees, y'all, not in the ground. In case the things come up out. Yeah, the thick forest. All around. The herifice surrounds the mine.
Starting point is 02:39:25 Great. Oh, man. I make a, can I, like, druid craft, like some web hammocks? I mean, you can. I mean, we've gone to all this trouble, but, like, if you want to act to it, I mean, this is just what we've been doing.
Starting point is 02:39:38 Look, I really like elaborate tree houses. No, I understand. I respect the outform. I can have a road bridge here. Hammock fan. All right. Well say Druidcraft, which is a very localized and cantrip-based magic, you could, over the next couple hours, craft a single web hammock. Aw.
Starting point is 02:39:54 It's a can trip, yo. Alpac. Okay. What about like a... Holds to sleep with the ones we have. A third grade diorama. Kind of, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:40:05 This is what it would look like if you were to build. Right. To scale. Yeah. Okay. So you guys find out. place in the trees, who's helming finding that spot? All right, go to roll an investigation check.
Starting point is 02:40:23 15? Okay. Oh, wait, I, no, I honestly don't know any more what my favorite terrain does for me. I don't know if I'm not. No, this is not for any reason, because you're forced to favorite terrain. This is exactly the kind of thing it would help with.
Starting point is 02:40:35 I always feel like I'm bullshitting it now. What am I rolling, investigation? Yes. 24. 24. You find one massive tree. The trees here can get pretty big, and there's one thick tree that branches are pretty easy to climb, and up top. It kind of branches out, and all the various branches that make up the canopy, there's almost like this little bowl at the very top just underneath where the heavy foliage descends.
Starting point is 02:41:02 And it's like a perfect place for you guys to make a camp higher up off the ground. Hey, this is a place. Let's do it here. It's perfect. I'll unload everything. All right. You guys make camp. He's making first watch. Make them first watch? Me too. Oh, Heroes Feast.
Starting point is 02:41:20 Heroes Feast. All right. We'll say, as a note, this is the last of the chalices you have prepared if you want to do any more Heroes Feast, you have to specifically go and purchase the chalices or go to look for it in town. Let's do it. Is this including or not including the chalice
Starting point is 02:41:39 that Grog gave to Vax early, you should drink out of? That chalice, while it looks quite delightful, is not worth a thousand whole pieces. Yeah, it's a little gaudy. It's got a little gaudy. Yeah, exactly. I've got one other chatties. Every time every time me drink of it,
Starting point is 02:41:56 you get glitter on your hands, and you're like, shit. All right. Just wait. Covering by the blanket. Yay, here's east. All right. So we're immune to fear. Immune to fear, immune to poison.
Starting point is 02:42:11 And advantage on wisdom. Virisha, do you want to go ahead and roll the additional hit points for years before? You have 2D10, yeah? 2D10, I believe. We don't get that, we lose it our 17. We lose our 17. We do. That's why I didn't take that.
Starting point is 02:42:25 Oh, wait. Wait. Yeah. Oh, this is amazing. It's a 9 and a 10. So 19 additional hit points to all of you guys. How long do, if you give us a speech, how long does that last? Temporary hit points last until they go down or you get a long rest, I believe.
Starting point is 02:42:43 I'll check. But this is maybe a long rest. Oh wait, but does that mean we lose our temporary hit points on the Heroes Feast? You do. No, no, no. But different. Oh, okay. The Heroes Feast is in addition to your maximum hit points. Temporary hit points are different. Technically, those two stack.
Starting point is 02:42:58 But we're about to lose them when we're going to be at the top of the morning. At the top of the morning, I can give us a speech in the morning. Should you be so inclined? Yeah. God, damn it. Do I have to like do it? No, you don't. No. You don't. You don't.
Starting point is 02:43:12 Fuck you, Travis. I think you can give the essence of a speech. Remember, this is kind of. Right, I can do like, you know, an interpretive dance, right? That's better. Only if you actually do the interpretive dance. Wait 19 extra? He's giving you a look.
Starting point is 02:43:32 A laser light show. Wow. With fireflies. Oh, cool. It's a... It's like a Disney Imagineer show. It's a speech. Or it's a speech.
Starting point is 02:43:45 Words, words. You can give the essence of it, but the idea here is just, is you honing your public speaking skills. You're gonna get better at it, kid. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like public debate in high school. Exactly. Toastmasters. That's right.
Starting point is 02:44:01 I love Toastmasters. Just, you know, lots of, Timber hit points, blah, blah, blah. They last until the depleted or you finish long run. Yes, that was correct. Cool. So in the top of the morning. Top of the morning.
Starting point is 02:44:15 Top of the morning, everyone. I'm gonna ask you. We'll save the purposes of brevity, because even at your guys' level if you didn't encounter anything in this forest that was indigenous, you'd splatter it in a round. But you don't have any issues. Nothing really sees you up in the branches. You occasionally get caught off guard by the sound of an new by, like an owl in the trees, but nothing seems to bother you during your evening slumber. You complete your long rest, you have you still maintain your benefits from the hero's feast,
Starting point is 02:44:46 and as the morning comes, Keeleith, gives a rousing speech. Just give up the topic. You can just describe the topics you talk about. You don't have to give the actual speech. That's great, because, you know, one could only bullshit so much in a four-hour fucking game. I talk about the smell of our breakfast. It's a bacon in the morning.
Starting point is 02:45:15 And taste and smell the fleshy essence of the pork. It's bacon what we're fighting for. It's worth fun. It's making us want to fight better. It's definitely worth fighting for. Bacon is worth fighting for. Agreed.
Starting point is 02:45:34 And when we kill that celestial baby, we will have the godliest bacon one could ever imagine. I do like bacon. This is the most burning man thing that's ever happened on the show. Celestial Baby. I'm flashing back to some bacon. I love the smell of breakfast.
Starting point is 02:45:59 Clesial baby. Bacon. I feel like this is very good. You take your 17 temporary hit points. She's not a great talker. It's never been one. I just want to point that out. You roll for this?
Starting point is 02:46:11 You guys all know this. No, it's just 17. 17 because it's just my level. It's just my level. My level plus the 17 goes away, it's gone. But the 19 we can heal too. It's still your maximum, you can heal it. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:46:23 I see. That's the difference. I always imagine occasionally when Keelis gives a speech that's like a, what's his name from Amal House? Matthew, I'm going to prepare some spells that I'm going to inject into various coins. Yes, what are you doing? I'm going to drop another 300 gold and give Vex another reviva. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 02:46:47 Okay. I'm going to give Grog, you're already a good jumper, right? Yeah. How far can you jump? Is this college? You gave me a fly coin also. No, that's gone forever. That's gone.
Starting point is 02:47:02 Really? It doesn't last forever. It lasts a couple hours. Oh, that's bullshit. Yeah, I can jump. Oh my god, you really need a tumbling. 15 feet vertically or 20 feet horizontally. So not great.
Starting point is 02:47:14 It's like three squirts. three squirts. I'll give you a jump coin, so that will triple your jump. Whoa. Will you sing jump from Van Hain? Sure. When you do it. Right. And I'll give, let's see here, who needs things? Jump! Oh my love. Jump! I'll give, I'll give, oh no, you guys all cast things now, right? A little bit.
Starting point is 02:47:41 Not really wide. Not really why. There sure are. T, give me something. Show me some magic. Give me a dood. Can you turn invisible? John, Joe.
Starting point is 02:47:49 I used to be able to, but I... Until a certain... ...a ring. He's fine. Carebear. I'm such a nice guy. Oh, no, it wasn't Carebear. No, it was Tova.
Starting point is 02:47:59 Tova. I'll give you a blur coin. Ooh. Don't you have that with your... Oh, that cloak that I gave away? Yeah. That's the one that care bear took. That's right.
Starting point is 02:48:11 That's right. Make inventory of the items you've lost. To get. Lost. That's good. Lost and gave it gave away. And I'll give good old Percival a cure wounds coin. Oh.
Starting point is 02:48:25 That's exciting. This is just one. Level one, you gotta. It's something. Yeah, it will hopefully not come in handy. Below is at my playlist. And also I'm going to change my robe of many things to my new robe of many things. Okay.
Starting point is 02:48:41 And that's it. All right. A vest of several items now. Yes. The Giguami of useful trinkets. Oh, hey, maybe, well, no, maybe would this be a bad idea to shoot an Oracle arrow down into the bottom of the... I don't think that's, I think that's been working out very well for us.
Starting point is 02:49:04 It is pitch black down there, isn't it? Sure, it. Well, we have this method that we used to do. I light the arrow on fire and then send it down. So I can see by the light of the fire on it. Would that make your actual eyeballs burn? I don't think so. Maybe, though.
Starting point is 02:49:21 Oh, and I'm gonna do one more thing. I'm gonna pull out a healing draft bottle and give it to heal. No, you can heal things. You don't need to heal. You're gigantic. I do it to Vax. I turn into Nurse Betty almost in every fight.
Starting point is 02:49:39 What are you talking about? It's true he does. He does heal people a lot. But that's cool. You give him to somebody that, you know, he can just first down. To me, I got 50 things I can do a turn. What was what kind of potion?
Starting point is 02:49:51 A healing draft. It's not a potion. It's a bottle of healing shit. Oh, shit. It's 8D8 theme with you. Whoa! Yeah. I will never give this up.
Starting point is 02:50:02 Ever. That's pretty high. Thank you. Thank you, Terri. Sure. All right. That's, I think that that's a really good idea. He's shooting an arrow down there.
Starting point is 02:50:12 I'm going to, is that a deathball that's a product? I'll light my hands on fire. Oh, it's fine. So that Vex can light her arrows on fire. What about, what? So when we're ready, we've got something to light the. Should I, wait, should I cast it out face on us?
Starting point is 02:50:31 No, I'm gonna do the order there first. No, what if we wake it up when I shoot it down and things come out? What? Well, that is a very real possible. Well, then there'll be easy, easier to kill up here, then they'll be down there. They'll be 400 meters down.
Starting point is 02:50:45 I can theoretically drop some awesome fireballs on the face. I like this idea. I'm gonna cast pass, let's trace on all of us just to be safe. Although that's very far away. So we can like stealth and be quiet. And now, yeah, but they'll just keep falling, won't they?
Starting point is 02:50:58 I don't know. How does that work? It's a weird magic question. This is why magic freaks me out. What's the question? If I like drop a fireball, How long it'll just... Does gravity continue to carry it down?
Starting point is 02:51:14 Or does it dissipate? A fireball? A fireball. In the mind. Straight down. Will it just eventually stop? Will it keep going or will it just... Well, a fireball is a small beat of magic energy that has a range.
Starting point is 02:51:26 Oh, so the end of the range. So if it reaches the end of the range, it has no effect. Well, that's the answer. Well, both tend. This is why magic's weird. But I could key to you over to the bottom. You could. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 02:51:37 We're just spoiled from choice. You take half bludgeoning damage when you impact. Yep, advantage us to both. Dropping a great height did not go well for you. Nope. Did you roll 17? No, I'm not enough. Did you roll 17 or 19 on your?
Starting point is 02:51:50 I rolled 19. But then you get an additional 17 because my 17 temporary hit points. Weird speech about bacon. Which I'm really in the mood for now. Bacon points. We kill the bacon points. We're only the most glorious bacon.
Starting point is 02:52:05 To be fair, I've eaten some bacon in my time. That's giving me some temporary hit points. That's so true. Just saying. All species of bacon are wet-wile. Oh, completely. I felt it. I'm not wrong.
Starting point is 02:52:16 We will not go baconless into the night. Bacon has saved many of people. All right. Let's do this thing. I'm setting my arrow on fire, and I'm shooting it down into the pit. Okay. Orkill, you fire it. It's a big pit.
Starting point is 02:52:35 The radius of a small flame on an arrow doesn't seem to light up the walls. Bright enough. So it just descends and descends. And since the wood is catching and burning, and eventually it hits the stony earthy floor, the bottom, and clatters and kind of breaks a little bit, and is burning pretty heavily. You glance around the space and the side. And you can see what looks like some broken mining equipment on the ground, jutting out in places. You see what appears to be some sort of like stony platform. that is actually carved, sort of carved, but kind of mildly forgotten or eroded steps, and the rest of the arrow burns up and you lose your vision. It's helpful, super, super helpful.
Starting point is 02:53:25 Is this not? It's worth it. It didn't cost us anything. That's true. I didn't see the great baby beast down at the bottom. And that's information we didn't have. And now we know, great baby beast. is not at the bottom.
Starting point is 02:53:41 Potentially. In that small circle. It's not at the bottom of the topless pit. Yeah. The pit has a bottom. Okay, so we could take the flying carpet down. A couple people could fly. We can take the flying carpet down.
Starting point is 02:53:57 Two flyers plus the carpet. The circumference of this thing is massive. Four fliers. Plus the carpet. Or the diameter. The diameter of the actual hole is maybe about. If she needs to. ball field? Not quite that big. I'd say it's about 150, 200 feet across. Stay away from the walls.
Starting point is 02:54:26 Slay away from the walls. Slater from the walls. Do not come anywhere near the walls? When we descend, do we want light to be able to see, or we don't want people to, I mean, things to see us? We probably, maybe they... Good chance they can see in the dark. Let's have the flashlights ready. Okay. But not actively.
Starting point is 02:54:44 And jump and or... I mean, I have a few daylight spells there. Oh. Maybe good to blind them. They dwell under the surface. You know, if we're not in a rush, if we're not in a rush, it might just be nice to send like a little mini nuke
Starting point is 02:54:58 down into the hole and see what comes out. Did your voice just crack? Yeah, no, it's like reverse puberty. Coming a man. The problem is I'm down with that mini nuke. It extends a lot of our magical ranges, unless I want to like key to our down. I think it's better, especially we,
Starting point is 02:55:17 have we seen a tree that we can port to in case? of an emergency or some sort of object that we can port to if things get. There are definitely a lot of trees, yeah. There's a sleepy tree. There will not be a tree down there. No. Do we have an escape route if we need it? We have a flying carpet, two brooms, a set of wings, up and out.
Starting point is 02:55:39 Well, all right. Just a reminder, I can't ride the carpet. At all? Yes, you can. It's a big one. Is it? Yeah, it's bigger than the first one. That's right.
Starting point is 02:55:50 So I can get on there with everybody else in New Zealand? Well, we only do that. We only do it is Percy and Pike. Everybody else can fly. Unless Keyleth is out of. Well, I can probably morph him. We can also talk about how much weight can the carpet take. He's checking.
Starting point is 02:56:07 I mean, you could technically just go on it alone, and then I could hop on the broom. We are versatile as shit. Hop on Vex's back. Vax is back. The one that you have, it would be it 800 pound. Oh, okay. It's you.
Starting point is 02:56:20 We're good. It's just slow. You're like 300 pounds, right? No, I'm like, it's kind of arguable. I'm definitely over 300. Just in this direct limit. It'll be like 500. Three of us on that coffin.
Starting point is 02:56:32 One big one, one little one, and a medium one is wrong. You could fit Grog and one other person, probably. He's a big bastard. I can take someone on a broom. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll join you on the broom. All right. You probably, you probably fit Grog, Percy, and Pike.
Starting point is 02:56:47 Yeah, okay. That solves it. Perfect. Well, then let's descend slowly and quietly. Is that only going to do? Let me double-shack. Oh, yeah. I don't want to be a dumbass.
Starting point is 02:56:58 No, this is very clever. I see what you're going for. Hang on, hang on, hang on. Wait, wait, I might need the book. Okay, I know one of the things that I want to do is I want to use my staff to create an air elemental. So I want to take a minute to use my... I guess my spire.
Starting point is 02:57:21 Okay. To conjuring a arrow on. Conjuring arrow, I think. By the way, can I just remind everyone this whole year I've had one half of a communications bracelet, and someone's been watching us the whole time. What? That's right.
Starting point is 02:57:41 Because you got that down in the fucking nine hells, right? Yeah, someone's watching us, like, for a year. Oh my god, they're right there. That is so crazy. What? Sorry. Yeah, watching you make fucking blondies. Like, this channel's boring.
Starting point is 02:57:57 He's making armor. When a blondeie's so bad. I'm going to, so I'm going to do the, I'm going to conjure an era of elemental. And then I'm going to go over to Grog. And I'm going to give a big hug and say, For the next hour, no one can keep a hold of you. And I'm gonna give him freedom of movement.
Starting point is 02:58:26 Yeah, okay. What is that? You're now greasy as well. Like I can't be restrained. Target can now spend five feet of movement to automatically escape from non-magical restraints such as mammals or creatures that has grappled. You can't be grappled. It's like you spend five feet in my movement?
Starting point is 02:58:41 Being underwater, no penalty. You're also unaffected by difficult terrain. And spells and other matters, magical effects can neither reduce the target's speed, nor cause the target to be paralyzed or restrained. You are a parkour. You're parkour. I'm Chevy Chase in Christmas baggage.
Starting point is 02:58:58 Yeah, basically. Just because I feel like you've been restrained. All right, so as you finish the conjuration from the stack, you kind of slam it into the ground at the edge of the entranceway, and you watch as a nearby cloud tends to swirl and descend, and you hear this, like, cracking sound as the planer shift between your plane and the elemental plane of air briefly kind of hiccups open, and then summons forth an elemental that rushes down into your control.
Starting point is 02:59:22 It is concentration. Keep that mind. Yes. All righty. Let's go. Do it. Light, did, d'et-tid-dun. So two brooms of flying, magic carpet. Partridge.
Starting point is 02:59:34 Wings. And a partridge in a pet tree. And you are. What? I'm wondering if I should go ahead and go elemental. Not yet. But I can't cast. Can I get on the carpet?
Starting point is 02:59:47 The carpet? Is there a room? The carpet's full of the room. You can hop on the room. You can hop on the room. You have on the carpet. Okay, we can do that. All right, so in the room you guys slowly begin to send down this heavy open tunnel.
Starting point is 02:59:59 This is just the stupidest. We're staking to the middle. Let me know. Did you cast a pass without a trace? Yes. So like all you guys make a stealth check play is. As we find. Natural 20.
Starting point is 03:00:11 Oh, shit. Lying carpet. Oh shit. It had 10, y'all. 47. 21. I rolled a two, but it's a 37. That's ridiculous. What, wait. 39.
Starting point is 03:00:25 It's built into the rules, man. Yeah. Reliable. Reliable. Reliable. So rogues are good at. Whoa. 37. 37. 28. 30. 30. Okay. As you guys all descend,
Starting point is 03:00:39 you get about halfway down the tunnel and you can hear this occasional echo like a. And for those of you that have dark vision, you look off to the side and you see that you see that, you see that. There are these small kind of openings, these tunnels and the sides, and occasionally you see a large insect creature kind of skitter out and then into another hole. None seem to see or notice your presence. You continue delving deeper and deeper and deeper. The looking above, you can see the slowly vanishing circle of daylight above you. And as you continue further. I don't think we should land. And further down, those of you with the dark vision, you begin to see a floor, begin to approach.
Starting point is 03:01:29 Don't fire, don't land. We halt the carpet. I halt the carpet 20 feet out of the ground. Okay. We're whispering. We're whispering, but we're not whispering so that people can be hearing. Yeah, we're definitely whispering over it. Yeah. Can we see... This is a stage whisper. Can we see any little creaking. Can we see any little creaking in the middle of anything?
Starting point is 03:01:53 Make a perception check. Okay. Come on, Pike. Can I look to you? Yeah. Oh, I have some sort of a cloak over my helm since it emits light all the lights. Okay, it doesn't block all the light. Oh, God.
Starting point is 03:02:08 Because it's kind of the hall of brilliance. So as you guys are being somewhat stealthy going down here, you know, Tarian is still kind of a slight beacon of fire. His helmet just emits a glow at all times. Yeah. Cool. Cool. I got like a towel over it. Because insects don't love lights in the dark.
Starting point is 03:02:25 I know. Oh, I know. 25 for perception? Okay. 22. Okay. You glance about and you can see this opening at the bottom. There's some warping to the earth here and there's like almost, it's one large chamber that's almost like peanut shape, like kind of pinches in the center and closes around.
Starting point is 03:02:42 And there's a small tunnel that leads off and then closes at the end. It appears to be what may have been some sort of a mine shaft that is then collapsed on the opposite side. But the center here, it looks like there's some fallen barrels and chest pieces, and there are pieces of rods and rope and cord just strewn about. And there is this kind of ancient stone platform that rises up in the center. And what appears to be some sort of a small recess in the stonework there, it looks like it's like a, maybe about the size of a football. It's carved downward. By the way, I was wrong. It only emits light when there's undeader.
Starting point is 03:03:25 Oh. Oh. Is it emitting? Well then, never mind. Is it emitting light? I don't know. It is currently not emitted light. Should we just nuke it?
Starting point is 03:03:33 Should we just nuke it? Should we just nuke that thing? The ancient platform? No, don't know that. Oh, it was like a coffin. Does it look like a coffin? You can probably get closer. Let's get a little closer.
Starting point is 03:03:46 A teeny bit. Okay. Because you're ways from it and you have no light down here. So even with your dark vision, you can make out some details. Okay. The poster you get, you see the number of kind of small carvings. Looks like some sort of language that you, I don't believe you understand. Celestial?
Starting point is 03:04:06 You don't see it. It's pitch black for you, Mr. Human. Abyssal, draconic. Nope. Primordial. Nope. Common. Nope. That would be amazing.
Starting point is 03:04:19 Dwarvish. Nomish. Nope. We can't see it. Yeah, they're human. They can't see shit. Humans. The humans are sitting there and pitch black just
Starting point is 03:04:28 seeing this tiny little beat of light above and just hoping when someone's gonna say something, give them some indicator. Wow. Should we cast some light down here? Just a dagger's worth. Sure, we said that we had prepared our flashlights before. We did. Yeah, so we have our.
Starting point is 03:04:54 We have that low light version. We have the red light version of it. Yes, the night, the, the, the, I can get around very fast. Why don't I go, look? You want to borrow a flash? You don't, you don't. I have a flashlight.
Starting point is 03:05:08 Oh, okay. I can also just cast daylight, by the by. Yeah, that's not too bad. Well, that's what we have going in our flashlights, our daylight spells. Except they're just, they're lensed and contained. It's contained, but it's still a single beam of. Yeah. The beam of red light.
Starting point is 03:05:22 Yeah. Of like, yeah. So you go ahead and get close on the broom with... And just start to see if I can make out what it is. You open up the kind of the hood of the light, and it immediately beams this stark red beam down on this portion, you look at it. It is Celestial. What does it say?
Starting point is 03:05:41 It appears to be... It appears to be... Roans of gestation and protection. It speaks of a seed. A guardian for ages to come. Simpheor. Simpheor. It's a simpheor. It's an incubator.
Starting point is 03:06:04 This isn't a coffin. Guardian for ages to go. So it's been away, oh, it's been awaked. You hatched. So this is the opening of, this is where it was. Is it a guard cherub? You notice as this like pale white light begins to just slowly appear
Starting point is 03:06:22 kind of a little ways ahead of you and the other side of the chamber. And this light is emanating from some. I snuff, it's like the clock. Okay, second. And we back away from the thing. You guys begin to like drift back on the carpet. And you see.
Starting point is 03:06:36 this beacon of light hovering maybe 10 feet up off the ground, about the same height that you guys were to the platform. And you see there what appears to be like a cherub. It's like a baby or an infant, but it appears to be withered and gray. And it kind of has arms and legs kind of hang limply, and it has these small white angel-like wings, but the feathers are tattered and broken in places,
Starting point is 03:07:04 and the heads kind of lulled back, and the glow kind of grows from it, it kind of goes, and just gives out this heinous scream that echoes throughout the whole hall. You cannot but instinctually grab your ears. I'd like you all to make a wisdom saving throw, please. Oh, no. Which actually you are immune to fear,
Starting point is 03:07:25 so he does not affect you. However, it shakes the interior, and you watch the small stones kind of like hitting the ground around you, and you guys just, you know, looking up above, you can see that this scream is affecting the, the structure a little bit. I need you all to roll initiative.
Starting point is 03:07:43 Oh, God. Oh shit. So we have up here by the platform. Who's got a million on us. I rolled a 20 on the wisdom save we didn't need to make and threw it away and thought, I wanted to keep it, and then I rolled again, I got another national 20. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 03:08:12 Whoa, look at that. There's a map. Whoa, it's cool looking. Oh shit, we're like right by the baby. Where's the baby? Where's the baby? There it is. Oh, that's the baby. It's very tiny.
Starting point is 03:08:27 Oh, it's a mean baby. Oh, it's a mean baby. I feel like it could be saved because it's, you know. You say saved, you mean killed. I know. Is that a wave? Is that a wave? Maybe it needs to be.
Starting point is 03:08:43 All right, so. Just some. It's a mission. 25 to 20, anybody. 20. Whoa! What? We roll what?
Starting point is 03:08:51 30. Jesus Christ, Percy. So what did you roll? I rolled in 19 and my initiative is 11. Jeez. Fighters. Wow. I am going to debate hard how dumb I'm about to be.
Starting point is 03:09:06 What? The dumbest. What now? All right. So 20 to 15. 20. 19. 25.
Starting point is 03:09:18 You have 25. Okay. All right. 15 to 10. 12. 10 to 5. Oh yeah. Six. Okay. Oh. All right.
Starting point is 03:09:31 All right. All right, guys. We're going to keep this coming up rolling fast because we're going to make this happen. All right. First up, first of foremost, this creature emerges, and you guys are kind of in your respective places. Percival, you're up first. Where am I? You're up here near the top of the platform where you saw the recess. God damn it. Okay, so I'm far away from that little bugger, aren't?
Starting point is 03:09:52 Yeah, it appeared on the opposite side of this kind of double chamber. Okay, I'm going to... It's all up from there. I'm going to hop off the broom. Okay, see how it. Actually, uh, no, you're gonna move towards it, I assume, or... I'm so far below you in the initiative, though. Okay, that's fair. He's one, your five. It's glowing, right? So we can see it, even if we don't turn on flashlights and things?
Starting point is 03:10:17 You can see it. Yes, but you cannot see the terrain around you. I'm sure we're gonna try and talk to it, right? Yeah. We are. Maybe it knows my family's name. Madness, are you? So, Percival, what are you doing?
Starting point is 03:10:31 I'm going to hop off the broom, activate my boots, and activate my gloves, and start running towards that little, through that little, what would you? The choke point, and I'm just going to get as close to and possibly on the wall of that choke point as humanly... The other side of the choke point. Oh, you can get about there. You don't quite get to the wall.
Starting point is 03:10:59 Okay, you can get about there. You can get further, but you're currently at the creatures out of your view. That's fine. That's as far as I can get right now. That will be just fine. So I've activated, yeah, the gloves charged, the boots are on, and I'm heading towards the wall. Okay, so that's your turn? Yep.
Starting point is 03:11:15 All right. That's all. That's everything I can do. On, I'm going to move to 10 feet away from the baby. The baby. About there? Yeah. Where I am, is it straight up or am I covered over here?
Starting point is 03:11:30 No, it's straight up. Where you see the walls are right now, even this is kind of collapsed about here. In fact, I'd say probably just to keep it easier, they'll also have that that's a collapsed entrance there. But this is all just a straight up hole in the ground. It's like it slowly funnels as it gets to the bottom. Wow. All right, so I'm going to use bonus. So action, action, bonus action.
Starting point is 03:11:58 I'm going to cast vow of enmity on it. All righty. Then I'm going to throw whisper at it. All righty. That is a 33 to hit. That hits. I'm going to cast divine smite on it. Good job.
Starting point is 03:12:15 Kill that celestial BB. There's a lot of dice here. Get all the big. Two, because it's 10 plus psychic damage is 11. That's not very good. 11 plus divine smite is 12. 19 plus sneak attack damage, 19. 21, 26, 28, 29, 34.
Starting point is 03:12:41 36, thank you. 38. Nice. 38. And there's nothing extra because it's celestial. Correct. Not a fiend. So that was bonus action, action, and I'm going to use my action to then just fly away from the fucking thing
Starting point is 03:12:58 100 feet away diagonally up into the tunnel. Or I can still see it hopefully. I'm hasted. Right, right. But your action movement was to get there. Movement was to get there. Bonus action for vow of enmity. Correct. Action to attack and then my hasted action I can use for dash, hide, disengage. Correct. Dash is your full movement, which is 60 normally, 120 feet hasted. Fuck. I didn't make these rules or these items. I know. Okay. Cool.
Starting point is 03:13:28 So you- Diagonally up. I mean, you're basically against the wall. I'll fly by my sister, how's that? You fly by your sister? Yeah. Okay. Yep. Okay. No worries. That ends your turn. All right. Pike, you're up. Okay. I'm going to cast Beacon of Hope.
Starting point is 03:13:48 Actually, sorry. Before the end of your turn. Oh shit. Oh, shit. Let's go and go ahead and use legendary action to use a terrain shift. Oh, damn it. It's just a baby. Oh no, we're in next layer. My baby, buck, baby, back, baby back. As you stab the creature to kind of,
Starting point is 03:14:07 this is a horrible sucking sound, and you dart back, it kind of looks over in your direction. The wings kind of flutter once, and it brings its arms up, and as it does, and you land next to your sister, you feel the air around you, begin to freeze and cold. this energy's kind of just shiza. You feel ice crystals kind of condense around, and both of you feel the air in your lungs suddenly begin to freeze up,
Starting point is 03:14:26 and both of you guys make Constitution saving throws. Thanks. Thanks. Come right next to me on that one. Natural twin. Nice. What am I doing? A Constitution?
Starting point is 03:14:39 Constitution saving throw. Nine. All righty. 19 points of cold damage to you, Vex. And that is nine points of cold damage to you, Vax. And while you manage to pull out of this space of condensed cold, Vax your sister, however, becomes stunned for one round
Starting point is 03:15:07 as your body is frozen and locked in place. You watch the air kind of coalesce into this frozen area, and while the broom's still holding you loft, thankfully, you are sitting there in place, and the ice kind of falls and clatters and slams into the ground below you, sounding like the shattering of a hundred pieces of crystal across the stonework.
Starting point is 03:15:27 Pike, now it's your turn. Okay, I'm going to cast Beacon of Hope. Okay. And for my bonus action, I'm going to pull out a spiritual weapon of a giant big, great sword. Yeah. A giant baby rattle. That'd be lucky. Beacon of hoping is...
Starting point is 03:15:49 Don't fight. Play with this. They level two. Spiritual weapon. Where are you putting the spiritual weapon? Right in front of the baby. All right, I believe you get to make an attack with it then if you do. Yeah.
Starting point is 03:16:01 All right, so. I don't know if I want to hurt to be. Did you do any damage? Yeah. Okay. Okay. You're going to roll for attack on that? Oh.
Starting point is 03:16:15 Oh. So you roll D20. I just spell attack modifier. Uh, 13. Thirteen. It swings and the creature just like flaps out of the way and avoids the blow. Piece of dice, crap. Are you going to move?
Starting point is 03:16:31 Oh yeah! Wait, I'm resistant to cold. Travis just reminded me. I have cold resistance because of my Vorgal armor. You do. Does that mean I roll again for... No, you take half the damage, but you're still stunned. Nice. Oh, okay. So that was 17. You take nine damage instead of the 19. Yeah, nine instead of 18, which is what you would have taken before. Okay, so add nine back. Okay. All right. So do you want to move with your turn?
Starting point is 03:16:56 No, I'm going to stay. Okay. I'm going to stay. Because we're on the carpet, right? Mm-hmm. You guys are coming just up on the carpet? I'm not on the carpet. You're not on the carpet anymore? Oh, that's amazing. I'm going to stay on the carpet.
Starting point is 03:17:08 You can move the carpet forward though. Did Beacon of Hope get everybody? Beacon of Hope. What do we get from? The range on that is 30 feet. 30-foot range gets everybody except for the elemental. I think you find. That's cool.
Starting point is 03:17:29 Tight. What do we get? What do we get? Beacon of Hope, you have advantage of wisdom. Dev saving throws, death saving throws, and you regain the max number of hit points possible for any healing. Advantage on... Great, great, great.
Starting point is 03:17:41 All right, did it in your turn? Yes. All right. But death saving throws is huge. And healing is huge. End of your turn, the creature over there kind of goes, and you watch as the ground right beneath the carpet, explodes like it just peels back as molten lava.
Starting point is 03:18:05 suddenly being just spill up in a column beneath you, splattering up into the back and over the top of the carpet. I need everybody in this cluster, this 10 foot by 10 foot section, to make a dexterity saving throw. Yeah, I'm lucky. I don't think you're on. Oh, I'm not in there. Where am I?
Starting point is 03:18:30 You're over on the corner. I have no idea where I am. See that thing? Where's our here? You're next to the big white thing. I am? So Grog, Pike, and Keel. Oh, well, then never mind.
Starting point is 03:18:41 Danger sense. Wow, it doesn't show up on the monitor, that's so weird. 18? 18. 17. Natural 20. Wow. What's your? One. 21.
Starting point is 03:18:52 Uh, Pike's the only one that made it. Oh, you're the only one. What? So Pike, you suffer 21 points of fire damage. Oh my gosh. Half because of your armor. Okay. So you only take 10.
Starting point is 03:19:06 10 points of fire damage. Okay. I need you go ahead and make a concentration check on Beacon of Hope. Oh. You got this. You got this. Just roll of Constitution saving throw. Fucking molten lava.
Starting point is 03:19:18 Yeah. Kielas and Grog, you guys both take 42 points of fire damage. Oh, it was nice being over 250 for a little while. Okay. Fucking fuck. Hang on. Wait, math. The ground below you.
Starting point is 03:19:31 What's 41? 42. Oh, wait, no, no, no. What is it? 69. The ground below you right now is currently in flames. And you guys kind of have to stick around that space there. So the open ground now, it's just billowing flame and lava now,
Starting point is 03:19:53 and the area around that platform, that area is just searing hot. So I drill for a five with your... Yes. Yeah, you lose speaking of hope. Sorry. All right. What is you have to get above half of the damage you took? Is that what it is?
Starting point is 03:20:14 You have to get above half of the damage you took? damage you took or 10, whichever is higher. Do we stay on the carpet or we knocked out? I hate my dice. You guys, I mean, you can choose to stay on the carpet. You just pull out of the way and now just this area is just billowing with lava and flame. Kieleth, your turn.
Starting point is 03:20:30 Okay, I'm going to take and control my air elemental and send him over. All right, you took how much damage? 42? Make a concentration check. Constitution saving throw. So what, I have to get over? I have advantage on these.
Starting point is 03:20:46 Yes, you have to get over a 21. Over a 21? A 21 or over. What, 17 plus 4? 21. 21. You just maintain concentration. Oh.
Starting point is 03:21:01 Oh. Thank you, Gil. Thanks, Gil. I rolled a 20 tonight with Gil. Okay. All right. So, I sent him over with my staff. It is 90 feet fly speed.
Starting point is 03:21:20 90 feet flying speed. Yeah, he gets over there easy. Plops on over. And he's going to go ahead and do a whirlwind, which the creatures in his space have to make a DC-13 strength-saving throw. Okay. This, nope. This is not a very strong creature. That's kind of what I hoped. They take 3D8 plus two bludgeoning damage. Do I roll that? All right, go to hold the damage on that, yeah. Oh, this nasty. 12 plus seven is 19, yeah, plus two. So 21, and they were flung up to 20 feet away from the elemental
Starting point is 03:22:06 in a random direction and knocked prone. Okay. That's gonna fling them 20 feet into the wall, 15, 20 into the wall right there. And prone. And they're not prone. Stupid baby. And then, do I saw it? Do I still have line of sight?
Starting point is 03:22:25 To it right now, no. You have to get off the carpet to go. I mean, yeah, I'm gonna get off the carpet and walk over just to where I have a line of sight. Still. Okay. Right? Yes, at the top of your turn, by the way, you suffer eight points of fire damage
Starting point is 03:22:47 by the proximity to the flaming platform there. Even though my mantle allows me to ignore the penalties of dangerous weather. It's not so much a weather effect. It's more that there's a heaping column of molten lava. How many, what? Eight points of fire damage. Eight hundred miles.
Starting point is 03:23:05 What does we consider an underdark? Oh no, another concentration check. I'm a warcaster, though, man. Because that's eight, so I just have to get over a tent, right? Yeah. What is this considered like an under dark or a dungeon or? This is considered subterranean, another dark. Subterranean?
Starting point is 03:23:29 Okay. Cavern. All right, so you've done that. What do you want to do, Kila, if you're over here? Okay, can I move over just to where I have a line of sight? Yeah, so you leap over and you get line of sight of them right there. Okay, can I do blight? Sure.
Starting point is 03:23:44 All right, what's the DC on that? I think my spell level, so 20. It's a constitution's even through, I believe. 88. Six plus 10, so it's a 16. What do you need? No. Yeah, so roll your 8-D-8 necrotic damage.
Starting point is 03:24:03 Woo! Get it, get it, get it, get it. Yeah, no. Even with advantage in the save, roll the six and a four. One, two, three, four. Give me two more. One more, one more, and another. I don't know if I have another.
Starting point is 03:24:21 Give me a D-8. D-8. A V8. Okay. Can you re-roll ones, right? I do, no, on elementals. Four. plus eight is 22, plus four is 26, plus two is 28.
Starting point is 03:24:47 28 blight damage. Nice. So as you reach us on the ground, it's trying to get back up and its wings are kind of flapping and all of a sudden you watch us, it's kind of gray, withered skin turns dark black on one half of its body and it just shrieks out and gives another scream. Oh, geez.
Starting point is 03:25:09 From the ground, and the area quakes again, and you feel the ground kind of shimmy a bit. The ground beneath you, as its last legendary action, begins to kind of give way, Kieleth, I need you to go ahead and make a dexterity saving throw. Oh, oh, oh, no. Lava. Fucking lava! Oh, no. Didn't you move?
Starting point is 03:25:31 Didn't you? Yeah, this is a different area. Tried and true. Oh, wow. Oh, that's not bad. 19? No. No. 18?
Starting point is 03:25:40 18. So as you finish casting this and you hear it scream, you cover your ears and sudden the ground moves out beneath you and you watch as the rock, the actual floor. I just turned to everyone behind me and I go, oh, fuck. As you watch Kilith plummet into a pit below. Oh, yeah. Oh, no, you put it in a pit. You take eight points of bludgeoning damage and the ground covers over.
Starting point is 03:26:04 What? It's fine. You're fine. Keeleth vanishes, the ground just seems to swallow her up. Kilaith, the entire. The entire pit collapses in on you and you're currently restrained underground and you cannot breathe. All right. That's bad.
Starting point is 03:26:19 That's fixable. But can you cast things while you can't move? I need you to make another concentration check. On my element. Oh, geez. Oh, geez. She's just going to turn your steps. Yeah.
Starting point is 03:26:31 13 plus my constitution, right? Yeah. Yeah, I'm good. Yeah, fine. Okay. That ends your turn, Keyless? Matt, can you point to where the, uh, the Constitution? Cherub is?
Starting point is 03:26:42 I am, because it's his turn. Oh, go, oh, God. So the cherub creature, the Simfior, begins to fly up off the ground and make its way back in this direction, kind of out into the open once more. He keeps everyone from getting a good night's sleep. He needs a nap. He has a dirty diaper. It's been a thousand years.
Starting point is 03:27:13 All right. As it floats upward, it looks over towards where, let's see. Exhaalot sees you to you. Both are still in the flames right there. It's not worried about the fire at the moment. It sees you, Tarrian. Tarrington.
Starting point is 03:27:33 And just goes, and lifts its hands up. lifts its hands up. I need you to go ahead and make a dexterity saving throw. Oh, my God. Oh, yeah. I'm feeling lucky. Natural 20. Oh, yeah. Nice. Plus one. That's great. Okay. So you, marking off the lock, only suffer 11 points of piercing damage. Hey, that's not bad. As you leap out of the way, you watch as the ground and suddenly turns into a series of Earth-like spikes.
Starting point is 03:28:06 underneath, and some pierce you and scratch you and you roll out of the way, and you just barely move off to the side, where now you see this giant jutting series of spike-like pillars forcing up from the ground. All right, that's going to end that attack, and it's going to need the rest of its movement to move back over to there in the corner. That brings us back to, or Vex, it's your turn now. Yeah, I'm frozen. She's frozen, she's stunned. So yeah, so your stun ends. That's your turn.
Starting point is 03:28:39 Yay. You eventually like, break the ice off into your turn, and you're breathing heavily and trying to get the feeling back in your skin. That's your go. Rod, you're up. What does it take to activate the coin?
Starting point is 03:28:52 You have to slap it on yourself. It's an action, yeah. Yeah, just an action. Which spell do you have? It's the jump coin. What's the custom time of jump? It's a touch. What's the casting time of jump?
Starting point is 03:29:04 casting time of jump. That's last minute. No, I mean like the, Oh, it's instantaneous. You just touched, right? No, it's like, is it a bonus action? It's an action. So that would be your action to use it on yourself.
Starting point is 03:29:14 Oh, yeah. It's that whole shit, yo. That's a lot. All right. Uh, yeah, I'm gonna jump! And I would like to rage. That's my bonus action. Alrighty.
Starting point is 03:29:28 And with my new jump coin, I would like to jump with my Boots of Pharaoh leaping. It's three times my horizontal jump speed, which is 20 feet, so 60 feet. Okay, you also take seven points of fire damage at the start of your turn because you're by this flame. Oh, got it. Nice, that's fun. And can I jump towards the baby? Actually, just to the right of the... Like just over here. Over this side there? Yeah, right there. Okay, yeah. You run... Land next to it. Nice.
Starting point is 03:30:07 Can I, do I have any movement left? With the run and the jump, do you have me to 10 feet? Okay, I want to get right up on him. You're right up on him. Oh, never mind. I'm good. Rage, jump, no more action. Titan stone, no-goes?
Starting point is 03:30:24 Next round. You have an action, though. Oh, I do? Well, no, because it's a bonus action to do the leap. No, bonus. That's not. It's just to do the leap, right? Yes.
Starting point is 03:30:34 So you have, it was the run. You still have an action. I want to hate him. Go for it. Great weapon master, reckless attack. Okay. That's 26. 26 with a minus 5?
Starting point is 03:30:55 Yeah. Yeah, that hits. Nice. Please. Plus 10. 37. All right. That's your first strike?
Starting point is 03:31:14 Oh, I get another one. You have extra attack, man. 24. 24 does not hit. It's tiny size. It's hard to swing at, and as your axe almost catches it, it just out of the way. Okay, good to know. A whiff. That's it, I just have the two. Yep, that's your turn. At the end of your turn, because it's reset back to its ground, it's going to go ahead and look to you in front of it and go, make a dexterity check.
Starting point is 03:31:53 Okay. Saving throw or just dexterity? Or Dexterity saving throw, sorry. I get two of those. 19. The ground crumbles beneath you, and you suddenly flying below, you are raging, so you only take, it would have been 12 points blizzard damage to become six. But you are suddenly buried and restrained underground.
Starting point is 03:32:18 You got that slickety slick stuff on you, crystal oil. But that's my next, that happens on my turn. Yeah. You burn five feet of movement to get out of it. Can I get out of it? If I'm buried in soil, though? That's where it comes down to. Freedom of movement, and there,
Starting point is 03:32:30 It'll mean, I'll say it doesn't have, hmm. That's why I cast it on a man. You parkour around the rocks as they try and... Well, he's like, he's buried in the ground regardless. Like that's the effect. He didn't avoid the barrier. Yeah. So I guess you just, if you want to use your,
Starting point is 03:32:48 want to use your action to try and escape, you do so. Yeah, you can enlarge. He's gonna enlarge, make a blackhead. Ew. We'll visit it. We'll visit it. Oh, no. Oh, no.
Starting point is 03:32:58 Anyway. Yeah, look is it. That ends that go. Terry, and you're up. That's what I'm talking about. Me? Oh, God. All right. I don't have anything I can do.
Starting point is 03:33:07 I will click my boots of speed making me faster. And then I will move full movement of 60 feet towards him or her. There you go. We don't know, do we? Is it wearing a diaper or is it stangly bits hanging out? Is it peeper hanging out or? Is it naked? It does it?
Starting point is 03:33:30 does not, you got a pretty close look if you wanted to take a moment to inspect. We could just try to kill that, no, worry about the gender of the. Okay. It's a boy. We're trying to kill this thing, yeah? Yeah. Yeah. I guess I'll punch a baby.
Starting point is 03:33:47 I'll just go, I'll use my, it's gonna miss though. That's a slippery baby, right? At 60 feet to move it? 25 to hit. Yeah. You're not quite within melee range of it. No, I was gonna use my ring of the RAM. Oh, that'll do.
Starting point is 03:34:06 But I'm probably not gonna hit, because it's so, it's got an amazing AC. Y'all got any luck, lip? Yeah, I do. Do what happened? Alright, um... Got to do something. A long fight. Are they ever?
Starting point is 03:34:23 Yeah, I'll do the all full three charges of the ring of the ram and just punch a baby. Punch a baby. Okay, go ahead and roll for an attack. Hey, I'll be so weird though. Eight, not good enough. I'll use luck. Come on. Come on.
Starting point is 03:34:35 Punch that, baby. 13 plus nine. 22. 22. Oh, wait, wait, wait. Oh, wait. Oh, wait. Come on.
Starting point is 03:34:44 Can I? War God's blessing? What's the range on war God's blessing? Let's see. 30 feet? No, he's out of range for that, unfortunately. Sorry. I'm so bad.
Starting point is 03:34:55 As you, it just kind of out of the way, and the fist just goes back, slamming into the wall. It never works. That one day it's gonna be epic. It did. It did. It got you a kill, yeah. The Madrid.
Starting point is 03:35:11 The Madrid. The whole baby just is out to eat you out of the way. It's just like, it's no effect, it just dodged out of the way. And now you can see it, like it's weird lifeless, white eyes kind of turn towards you once more. Oh, great. Come here, baby.
Starting point is 03:35:25 Then you turn? Yep. All righty. Let's see here. I am going to fucking slam it, man. It's going to go. to go ahead and use another ability now, as it sees that you're kind of closed in,
Starting point is 03:35:44 it glances over and you watch as suddenly a bunch of stonework just up in the center of the area as now. Oh, bum, one of these guys. What? A wall? A giant stone wall. No. Suddenly, it shoots up above for about 40 feet.
Starting point is 03:36:03 Wait, is it above? We got this guys, don't worry. Is it about where, like. Me and Baried Grog and buried Kieleth. We got this. Yeah, where we are? Wait, you're going to read too? No, you are and Grog are.
Starting point is 03:36:16 You're both fine. I'm like under the wall, right? You're underneath right over here. You're just outskirts of the wall. So it's just me and the baby right now. Yeah, you and the baby and an heir elemental and a giant sword that's just kind of funny. Yeah, my air elemental is there.
Starting point is 03:36:30 Oh, great. I'm fine, man. But you lose vision entirely Pike. Wall's in front of you. Oh my God. Percy, you're right. So is the wall hitting the roof? No, no, the wall would have to go way high. It's about 40 feet up.
Starting point is 03:36:45 I'm gonna run up to the top of that wall. Your movement will not get you to the top because you only move 30 feet. How far will my movement get me? You get you about there. Like some unmotivated Spider-Man. In that case, well, I've got, I can.
Starting point is 03:37:06 I can... I'll put you right there to remind us, but you're almost at the top of the wall at your full movement. Well, then I will burn my action to... To dash up? To dash up. Okay, you get to the top of the wall there, and you can now see it.
Starting point is 03:37:19 And I assume I can get part of the way down the wall as well with my action, or... You can get part way down the wall, yeah? Yeah, so I just want to start making my way. Okay. I want to Spider-Man. So you get about, yeah. Let's say there.
Starting point is 03:37:30 Okay. On the opposite side, yeah. That was definitely irritating. All right, that's your turn, Percy? That, and I'm gonna cast a hex on that little baby. All righty. Baby is hex. And he has disadvantage on his, let's make it his wisdom checks. Okay. All right. At the end of your turn, Percy.
Starting point is 03:37:57 God damn it. Let's see. It's gonna go ahead and use... It has a lot of actions, this creature. It's legendary action. It just manipulates the area around it. Good. Because you are currently standing on the side there. No, you know, it's going to hold off. It's not going to do anything. Vax, you're up.
Starting point is 03:38:26 I haven't actually technically attacked it. I know what I want to do. You tell me what I can do. First thing I want to do is cast bless on grab Vex, cast bless on us and Pike. I have a range of 30 feet on it. Okay. Is that a bonus?
Starting point is 03:38:43 Is that a bonus? What does that do? No, I don't want to do that. I don't want to do that. Okay. I fly straight at Pike and I'm gonna lift her up. Okay, you immediately take Let's go.
Starting point is 03:38:56 Go get that baby. Eight points of fire damage by getting close to the flames to grab her. It's like, sure. And then is an action to grab and an action to lift and carry over? I'd say it would be an action to grab her enough
Starting point is 03:39:12 and you're gonna move it half speed with her. Which is still a ton at this point. Yeah. So, and that's all I need is the action to grab her and movement to go over? Action and you've moving there is about half there. I'd say you'll get your action and your movement will get you to like up above the wall.
Starting point is 03:39:30 Okay. Action and movement will. All right, then I will leave her on top of the wall. Okay. And I will use my bonus action to to fly within range of Bebe, and I should have one action left, yeah? Action, action, bonus action, hasted. Right, hold on, no, no.
Starting point is 03:39:53 You use an action to pick up Pike, and then up there, you moved. You have another action in a bonus action. Yeah, you have. So I've plopped her there, and now I have an action. Right, so I want to use a bonus action. But the extra action that you have is from your haste,
Starting point is 03:40:07 which means it can be used for either a melee attack or the other game. Great. So the bonus action I will use to dash towards baby and my final hasted attack action. I will stay 30 feet away from the baby, already? In the air, and I will throw whisper with my last hasted action. Okay. There you go. Put you on there. And that's a 25, which hits. That hits, that just hits. Yep. One, and can I dump smite into this? You'd like to, yeah. I would like to.
Starting point is 03:40:42 It's nine plus psychic damage. Is 16 plus 26, and here comes the sneak attack damage. 27, 29, 30, 33, 37, 43, 37. 43, 47. 47. 47? Yeah. Woo!
Starting point is 03:41:05 Nice. Smited. So as you swipe down a fling whisper out, it slams right into the chest of the creature, and it kind of impales it off the back side. And there's the burst of divine energy inside, but you see the divine energy kind of match its own and it kind of, what looks like a blood that would kill the creature, just like turns back towards you. Yeah.
Starting point is 03:41:25 And gives another scream as the dagger returns to you. Any of your turn? That's the end of your turn. That's the end of your turn is going to use its last legendary action. It's going to use another cold snap. You feel that the air around you, familiar, kind of condensed and the ice cling to you. The air in your lungs freezes solid, it seems.
Starting point is 03:41:45 Go to roll a constitution save a throat. Digg-degger-degger, 25. 25 will succeed, all right. So you shug off the stunned effect, but you do still suffer the halved damage. 13 points of cold damage. All righty. Pike, you're up.
Starting point is 03:42:14 Okay. Top of your turn, you suffer no damage because you got out of the fire. So you're at the top of the wall now. All right, so I will, can I, if I climb down there, is it a, it's an athletics thing? Yes. Oh, okay, I'll climb down. Well, an athletics check, it's 40 feet down, so that's
Starting point is 03:42:40 going to be a long climb. Oh, is it really? Is it fucking really? It's a natural one. Fuck, fuck. Who put her on the top of a 40-foot wall? Just picked her up and dropped her there. I should see and cast spells. I have feather fall with my shield. You do. You do. So you use your reaction to cast feather fall on yourself as you stumble off the side. And as you plummet about 20 or so with the feet, the 40 feet,
Starting point is 03:43:18 then you land unscathed on the ground. Okay, okay, okay. So is that just my action? That's your reaction to do that. Okay. How close am I to the baby? Can I get to the baby? Uh, not physically. It's over here. and you're at the base of the wall. It's like 50 feet.
Starting point is 03:43:39 All right, so you know what? You get within range to it. I'm going to, um, guiding bolt the baby. Okay, what level? Let's do five. Level five. Oh shit, okay, go ahead and roll four and attack on that. Okay.
Starting point is 03:43:58 Wait, is it a guiding bolt an attack? No, is it a saving throw? I think it's a saving throw, isn't it? I always forget that. It is, no, it's a range spell attack, so you have to roll to hit it. Let's get it. So go ahead and roll a D20 and add your spell attack modifier. It's not enough, I don't think.
Starting point is 03:44:12 It might be these. Oh, yeah. No. 19. But I will use guided strike. Oh, and she... Because you can do that. Yeah.
Starting point is 03:44:22 It's guided strike. You get to add that to your own attack? Yep. Yep. That's not a meal, isn't it? Channel divinity. Channel divinity. Channel...
Starting point is 03:44:32 Tidal do divinity. Still check. Yeah, let's end of the roll. That'll do it. 29, boom. So go ahead and roll damage on that. How many six is? It's six. Well, it's four levels above that, so it's eight D6 radiant damage. Okay. I'll get five, six seven and eight. Okay, so we've got six, twelve,
Starting point is 03:45:01 help me out here guys. 18. Oh, wow. You are a lot of sixes. Oh, shit. Whoa. Yeah. All I want to have that.
Starting point is 03:45:12 This will be six. She rolled. 36 six. Six sixes. Sixes? What? What do you mean? She rolled a ton of six.
Starting point is 03:45:23 All the sixes? 42. There's literally. 42 points. That's like a good time. Oh. Oh, wow. Sorry, by me.
Starting point is 03:45:32 Yeah, I'm looking at them. They're like. Yeah, they're all sixes. We trolls to kill the celestial baby, not because it is easy, but because it is hard. So as you land gently on the ground after plummeting head over, heels, holding your holy symbol before you, you watch as this beam of condensed divine energy just rockets across and this tiny floating kind of withered planer baby kind of gets blasted, you watch as the wings get pushed back. It's holding itself in place, but you see the kind of dark shadow. outline as energy just blasting through it as it hits its wings recoil and it's still floating there but you can see this kind of sparkly outline of divine energy
Starting point is 03:46:13 because the next attack on it has advantage. So do I still have a bonus action? You do. It's Keel-. Okay. So you can send your swords. Yeah. I'll use the spiritual weapon.
Starting point is 03:46:24 You can move 20 feet as a bonus action. It moves up and takes a swipe. Go ahead and roll an attack. Oh crap. My boots are stuck together. How does this happen? Oh, shit. Okay. Yeah, the hook of the... So much. Killif, you're up next to be ready.
Starting point is 03:46:35 Right there. That's how she fell off the wall. Oh. Ooh. Ooh. That hits, that's for sure. 29. 29 hits?
Starting point is 03:46:46 Yeah. Yeah, so go and roll your damage for the spiritual weapon. Which is 1D8 plus 5, I think, for you, for whatever your wisdom modifier is. Oh, 8. Where's my, sorry, guys. My dice, I don't know what I'm doing. Oh, that's not a lot, but. Seven points of damage. It all helps.
Starting point is 03:47:06 All right. Keyless, you're up. Okay. I'm underground, right? You're underground, you're restrained. You're blind, you cannot see anything. I'm gonna go Earth elemental. Okay. I'm Aegee didn't already have it out of the wire. And with that ability, you can earth-wide, and this is none issue for you.
Starting point is 03:47:30 Oh shit, oh shit. All right, Keylet. All right, Keylet. So you... Boom. Are an Earth elemental. Whoa. Wow!
Starting point is 03:47:51 Do I have no movement to Earth glide to them? What's your speed? I think 60 Earth glide? 60 Earth glide? Yeah. Yeah, totally. You're moving into melee with the baby? with the baby?
Starting point is 03:48:03 Okay, can I like come up from underground, grab them, and then like beat them into the ground? Sure, go ahead and roll an attack for the slam attack. Punei God! Punei God! Buh! So make two slam attacks, so roll twice, it's plus eight to attack each time. That one's Cox. Natural 20 on that one, and a four on the second one, we just twirl.
Starting point is 03:48:29 Yeah, that misses. Okay, but the one is... But the one hits. This is the one, as you reach out of the ground from underneath, your fingers clasp around the celestial baby and slam it into the ground as hard as you can. Go ahead and roll damage on that. I'm having so many. That's a . 2d8 plus five. So roll the 2d8. And then you double the 2D8. You double whatever you roll for the 2D8 and then add plus five. Crit that baby. Come on, come. Crit that baby.
Starting point is 03:48:56 Come on. It's their next t-shirt. Crit that baby. Six, doubled, which is 12, plus five, which is 10. So that's 22. Well, the bonus isn't doubled. The just the dice. No, I know. Just the dice.
Starting point is 03:49:10 Is 22 plus five. So 27. That's great. 27 points of damage. Wham! Simon on the ground. As your hand retracts up, you can see the wings are kind of and it tries to fly up.
Starting point is 03:49:26 And I just want to hold onto it and be like, Yo! Yo, Air Elemental! And then let my Air Elemental come over and do its thing. Boom! Double slam attack. Go for it. Oh, oh. Slam attack. Oh, no, multi. I'm going to do a multi-attack.
Starting point is 03:49:41 Two slam attacks. Okay. So two D8 plus eight once again. Oh, that's an 18 and a 17 plus eight. 18 to 17 plus eight? Yeah, so 26 and 25. Both hit, good to roll damage. I'm with, Jesus.
Starting point is 03:50:00 Is 3D8 plus two. One, two. I haven't done shit. Okay, so the first one, oh, six, seven, eight, plus seven, which is 15. And then for the first one, oh, 15 plus two. 15, 16, 17. And then the second one is eight plus two fives, which is 18 plus 18 plus to, so 20. Nice.
Starting point is 03:50:30 And it gets flung in a random direction? No, this wasn't a, this wasn't a, this was just hitting it. Boof, boof, boff, boff. All righty. That's any of your turn? Yeah. All right. As it comes back to the entity's form, it's looking really, really, really rough. And as part of that, it's going to, you see it kind of reach into itself, almost its hands kind of push into its torso. As it screams, like,
Starting point is 03:50:56 and gives out this horrible scream as it tears kind of its chest open. And from the inside where you imagine it would be like a rib cage, it's just this impossibly bright light that just echoes out in a shockwave affecting everybody except for VEX, actually. I need everybody else to make a constitution saving throw. All of us? Yes. Oh boy. That don't look good. We don't have advantage on this, do we? I guess I'll- I'm going to add a, I'm going to run a resolve. Is Constitution part of my, that's part of my physical stats that I keep as being an elemental, correct? Because it's con-strength, yeah, index.
Starting point is 03:51:44 Never mind, yeah. Ew. So. 22. 22, it succeeds. 17. 15. 24.
Starting point is 03:51:57 Succeed. Roy Bailey. Pike? Is safe. 11. Okay. 25. It succeeds. Everyone who succeeds, you suffer 48 points of radiant damage.
Starting point is 03:52:12 Oh, no. Radiant damage. Yes. Forty eight of success. That's a killer. If you failed, you took 96 points of radiant damage. Wait, I have advantage. That's magical.
Starting point is 03:52:24 I have advantage. It's not a small. It's not a small magic? This is not, the cloak wouldn't, wouldn't. 96 points? The cloak doesn't say a spell effect? Against spells and other magical effects. Technically because it's not a leveled spell, it's just a radiant blast.
Starting point is 03:52:42 It would not affect. It wouldn't give any advantage on that save? No, it wouldn't. Because it's just, it's not. Damn, no. All right. Ninety-six, you said? 96 points of radiant damage.
Starting point is 03:52:51 Ninety-six points of radiant damage. That's fine. So, Kieleth, I need you to, you know. You're all meant to. has gone berserk. There's no way. Yeah. I set up only a 20, go for it, just try. Unless I roll a net 20. What do you mean, berserk?
Starting point is 03:53:05 They just kind of do their own thing, if you fail. What do you got to roll a 20? Percy, bless that shit. I have to roll a natural 20. Even so, I'm letting you have this opportunity, but. I rolled a 19. Nope. A natural 19.
Starting point is 03:53:22 So, as a conjure elemental spell fails, the control of your elemental shifts, and now it's a control of your elemental shifts, shifts and now it's aggressively turning its attention towards you and the rest of your party. Can I not like fade it after this? Oh, I can drop concentration on it and then it'll go away, right? No. That's not how this works. Did you just put a new enemy on the map? Yep. Kind of it. A new opponent denters. To be fair, didn't it also get affected by the blast?
Starting point is 03:53:49 Yeah, actually, roll concentration and check for the... Sorry, constitution saving throw for the elemental. I'm surprisingly... Say plus two. I rolled a 15. Or I rolled a 13 plus 2, so 15. Erlindal is actually destroyed. To your advantage, strangely.
Starting point is 03:54:10 It only has 90 hit points, so it's... It's fine, guys, it's fine. We're not worried about the giant. All right, so the entity looks like it's barely hanging on, and it's like, see, parts of its internal body just kind of falling out from where it tore its chest open. It's going to use a bonus action to Misty Step. Aw, you see. Out of this vicinity over to here,
Starting point is 03:54:35 and it's gonna use its movement to fly high up, almost like trying to escape the cavern now. So it's up in that region right there. We'll say, here, up on top of this corner. Turn that away so we don't give. Look at how teeny, I can finally see it. Above a fountain. It's a teddy jack.
Starting point is 03:54:58 It's so teeny. All right, Vex, you're up. This movement brought to you by Kirkland. I guess it'll fly up so I can see over the wall. I have no idea what's going on. You flap and you see everyone below is just like, just wrecked the ground is charred with some sort of a radiant blast. You watched it flash over the wall itself,
Starting point is 03:55:16 like a small, like a rapid recreation of the intro of Akira. Just like, this big arcing ball of white energy. Wow. Well, can I hunters mark the BB? Sure. Just mark the baby. And then, I'm gonna try, I'm gonna try to shoot the baby with my blazing boaster.
Starting point is 03:55:40 Go for it. Go for it. Get it. That would be a 30. That'll hit. And I'm gonna make it a bramble shot. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 03:55:52 Snare it? Yeah. This ball of vines in here. So DC of 17. Oh, I don't even pretend. Strength? Yeah. Oh, actually rolled a natural 17.
Starting point is 03:56:03 Ah, motherfucker. Okay, well, still, still 48 extra. Yeah. Well, 17 plus 5 is 22 plus 8. 20 plus 2 is 30, plus 2 is 32, plus 1D6 lightning damage. 35. 35 plus 1D6 for Hunter's mark is 40. It's 40.
Starting point is 03:56:35 40, nice. So as it hits, slamming into it, you watch as the brambles try and wrap around it, but it actually flies free. Wait, plus the blazing bowstring. Another two, fire damage. Okay. You can see more of it's just like falling out of its small, kind of decomposing torso, and it's like trying to fly upward now towards the light. It's on the edge. I want to try to do the same thing again.
Starting point is 03:57:03 Okay, go for it. With a blazing bowstring again. 20. Yeah, 28. 28 hits, roll damage. Okay, ramble shot again because I get two, motherfucker. Oh, wait, that's it. That's 10 for my blazing bowstring.
Starting point is 03:57:23 Okay. Oh, Jesus. Jesus age Macy. Where's my other? Nine. 10, 11, 12. I never heard of my life. 19.
Starting point is 03:57:38 Plus five is 24, plus 8. 24 plus 8 is 32, 36. 32, 3, 3. Oh my God, 34. That baby's dead. Plus 10 is 48. 48. How do you want to do this?
Starting point is 03:57:59 Yeah! Rosen no more. Freeze me in hell. Be free, little angel baby. We shall feast tonight. I just suit the baby. I just suit the baby. All right, as you pull back, as it's fluttering up,
Starting point is 03:58:20 you take aim and release. As the arrow strikes it, it's like, once kind of like in the same point the dagger hit the baby, hits it and throws it the sheer force of the arrow against the wall, and pins it there like a staple to the rock. And as it reaches over, to try and pull the arrow out, arrow out and it begins to, suddenly the arrow breaks into a bunch of bramble vines that begin to wrap around it and you watch as the tiny baby arm and wing try and reach out.
Starting point is 03:58:50 As they constricts and twists and slowly constrains it until you see it pop and go limp on the inside of the vines. As the vines unfurl, what was physically there is just slowly dissipating into like a glitter-like powder. The body just Then dissipating and falling apart. I mean, it was an evil baby, right? Nobody likes glitter. Super evil. Yeah, glitter is everywhere.
Starting point is 03:59:18 That glitter is never going anywhere. It's a living. Should we get out of here? They don't mean to be real. Oh, God. Oh, I run over to grog. I'm still in Elemental, yeah? I am still an elemental.
Starting point is 03:59:30 Where is he? You don't know, actually. I saw it. I have your fisting at the, you point. I'll point. I earth glide and I find him. Okay.
Starting point is 03:59:40 And I can do double damage to structure. Is going to beat him out? I'd say you could probably over time, yeah. And you have enough constitution to be fine. I don't want to kill him by subcane. No, he's fine. He can hold his breath for six minutes. He's got a really high constitution.
Starting point is 03:59:55 So you're fine. You just slowly pummel the rock out from his way and pull Grog out from the interior of the stone floor. Get out of you. Take a quick. Yeah, we should just head out and bug bottom. Don't we need proof? We do need proof.
Starting point is 04:00:08 We do need proof. There's no body. I go over to the glitter. Grab the little coffee. Yeah, and I give some my potion bottles from my alchemy to. Scoop some. Oh, I'm actually good at this. I try and harvest and sweep some glitter.
Starting point is 04:00:23 Okay, so you gather some glitter in. Is there anything of really quick, just look around. Is there anything of value to grab before we run? You make an investigation check. I'll look too. I dust devil into. No dust dust dust. He's doing that. Can I just look over the ground and see if there's any, like, platinum deposits?
Starting point is 04:00:42 Mm. We can just do a quick mining. I mean, there are a number of visible looks like the edges of veins. Is there 230 gold, a thousand gold work? Yeah. Probably. We can stay here for a lot of. We ain't mined.
Starting point is 04:00:56 In this whole mine, there's a lot of platinum here, but you have to mine it. And as you guys are having this moment, you begin to hear the loud sound of hundreds of Hundreds of large, you can fend them off. There's a genomes. Insect-like creatures climbing their way down the walls of this. Get to the middle and get to the middle and get in the air. Everybody in the air and in the middle.
Starting point is 04:01:23 Okay, so I get everybody in the middle. Is everyone ready? I need help. What are we going to do? What do you mean? I'm on the other side of the 40-foot wall from the carpet. Huh? Oh, you can.
Starting point is 04:01:34 No, I can, I go, and I pull a grog through. Pull grog through. Pull grog through. No, the carpet. We just got to get the carpet. I can go down and grab the carpet. Oh, the carpet?
Starting point is 04:01:43 Oh, I take a few minutes as my Earth elemental self to be through. We don't have a few minutes. I can do double damage to structures. No, you don't have to do that. Let's go get it. Go get the carpet. Go get the carpet. Okay, go get the carpet.
Starting point is 04:01:56 Okay, so you rush over and grab the carpet. Yeah. And you guys made to make your way back up through. Are we bafing out or are we flying up? I think we're flying up. And if we see anything, we'll just take shots at anything that's a shots at anything that's like rolling around if anything is visible. Let's just like, let's just do damage on our way out.
Starting point is 04:02:11 Oh, we're doing damage as we fly out. Or we can't tree stride out? We can't tree spide. There's no trees here down here. I can fly up. Or we can play or shift. There is a small tree growing out of the side of the wall from where you killed the creature but it's not large enough for the spell. Oh, but still really cool. Yeah, just kind of rows and twists out. Like a bonsite curves upward. I hope that it slowly becomes a forest underground.
Starting point is 04:02:38 They're gonna chop it down as they mine the platinum. Oh, damn it. All right, so you guys are coasting up through the. Okay, yeah. Oh, we're just right in the. What are you doing? Broome and straight up. Brum and carpet.
Starting point is 04:02:50 Brum and carpet. Okay, you guys begin heading up through the center column of this opening. As you're moving up, are you just staying in the darkness? Can you daylight or something, like up in a daylight or something? out? I can. Do we need to?
Starting point is 04:03:08 You know, it might, at this point, it might be the... Because they might not have good... On the top of my spire, I cast daylight. Okay, so this light now emerges from this area. And as you can see now through this cabin around you, there is about a dozen or so of these large, on cake creatures about every... every 30 feet or so, 40 feet up. They're all, like it's just you're in the center of what you can look up and you can see easily the hundred that you saw earlier have all been
Starting point is 04:03:45 drawn to the surface by the screams of this creature. As you begin rocketing up with this daylight spell, you watch us to them start kind of hanging upward in your direction. Start hearing the sound. They're staring. Are they attracted to the daylight? They're apparently attracted to the daylight. They're apparently attracted to to your presence. It is a line shot. I'm going to go ahead and have, let's see here. Are we moving so fast? All right, Percy and Vex, I need you guys to both make a Constitution saving throw.
Starting point is 04:04:18 Oh, shit. Oh, God. We did not. I can't fix this, it's fine. Can you? I can't. Pretty sure you said that last time. 20. Before you turned to the chef boy already. Sorry, sorry, I'm sorry, dexterity, my apologies. Dexterity, saving Joe? Oh, that is so much better.
Starting point is 04:04:40 Should I re-roll? Yeah, I'll re-roll. Should you re-roll? Yeah, re-roll again, it's fine. What? It'll be fine, you'll be fine. Twenty-seven. Yeah, you both make it.
Starting point is 04:04:52 So you both suffer eight points of acid damage. That's fine. Okay, can I take a... I want to start taking shots at any, like, as high up as I can take. see I want to start taking shots at these things. Okay. Yeah, I'll do the same thing.
Starting point is 04:05:08 And I will leave you for- There are over a hundred. So, and they take more than a few shots together. We'll say that you start picking them off a few as you go, but you watch them fall past you, but there's just such a mass number of them. As you guys get up another 30, 40 or so feet, again from three different ones.
Starting point is 04:05:26 All right, I need Tarian, Percival, and Vex again, to make dexterity saving throws. Natural twin. Nice. I'll live with that. 17. Okay. 23. Okay, six points of asset damage to the three of you?
Starting point is 04:05:45 Have to three for me. You make your way up even further, about halfway up this tunnel at this point, and now you're getting to the heavy cluster of these creatures. So. Burning a heel. At this point, I've got my... Yeah, I've got the outer, though. At this point, a large cluster of them begin to spray all across. I need all of you guys to make them to make them to make them.
Starting point is 04:06:07 make two dexterity saving to us. 2. 21 up. I'm at 87.50. Anybody get lower than a 13? Nope. I did. For one? No. Lower than a 13?
Starting point is 04:06:26 Yeah. No. Okay. So that would be all of you except for Pike and Grog, take a total of 14 points of acid damage. Both of you guys, for the purposes of this will say take The World of Sonic the Hedgehog. the Hedgehog has been thrust into a not-so-dark, not-so-stormy, hard-boiled detective story that probably nobody saw coming.

Oh, my God. You're okay there, Pikey pants?
Starting point is 04:09:23 Yeah, I'm fine. I'm okay. As you're still shooting and you hear the gunfire going off, you're finding the arrows. More and more of these on kegs are falling and crumbling off. You hear that as they streak past you, plummeting in the darkness below. Even more, start throwing streams out there. However, the numbers are starting to thin because you've gone past the thick part of it. So Vax.
Starting point is 04:09:44 Dark duty. A little out of getting so soon again. Pike and Grog, and Grog, three of you guys roll, Dixirty saving throws, please. Mm-hmm, oh my God, oh my God, oh, my God. Oh, good, thank God. 12. 19? 18. 12. All right, six points of acid damage,
Starting point is 04:10:10 six points of acid damage, 12 points of acid damage. How much further do we have to go? You guys, as you're with the brooms in the carpet, it's not super fast, so you're like, shh, putting up there again, you get about three quarters in the way out. What is fuck riding on? She's on the carpet.
Starting point is 04:10:28 I'm on the carpet. Okay, I'm okay, I'm okay, I'm okay. You should heal yourself. I don't know, I don't know. Can I do like a wind wall to protect us around us? You should do it before we do it. Wind wall is stationary. It might help with one round of the spray.
Starting point is 04:10:40 Are we doing one more round? Well, we'll find out. You don't know. As we are, I will prep my wind wall spell to encompass us for one more round. Okay. So as you guys are heading upward, now you're about three-quarters the way out. The numbers are thinning a little bit. They start spraying once more in a row. You go ahead and create a wind wall. You've been preparing, as you watch these jets of extremely acidic burning liquid shoot towards you, suddenly a column of wind gets conjured upward from the darkness and just deflects the spray into like a mist that is thrown back against the wall, harmlessly.
Starting point is 04:11:15 You're almost toward the exit, and you can see a handful more towards the very top of this cavern. Keyleth. Do you think? Percy and Pike. Okay. Make a dexterity saving throw if you can. Pikey. I'm good.
Starting point is 04:11:32 I'm going to re-roll. Okay. That's the end of my resolves. Oh. Oh, well. Oh, well. Natural 20. Yay!
Starting point is 04:11:42 Okay. 10. Eight points of acid damage. I feel like this is the most points you've ever gotten in. Seriously. It's feeling pretty good. Keel? 21.
Starting point is 04:11:52 All right, that's eight points of acid damage. Okay. Or 21. All right. So you took the eight, yeah. So as you guys just crest out of the top of the dark column below, you can watch as the creatures are now starting to skitter out on the edges. But you are far above, and a few of them are spraying,
Starting point is 04:12:11 but you're above the range and it's just kind of coasting over and disappearing. You're now emerged into the night sky, the moonlight above you. You're all fairly beaten. Is there anything we can throw down there just to really piss them off before? We should try to kill as many as you. I'll drop a bead of firewall. Yeah, and I can drop a fireball in there. Let's just, let's just... I'm sorry, a wall of fire on the edge of it?
Starting point is 04:12:37 Yeah. Yeah, and I'll throw a fireball. Sure. Let's burn it out. Burn the place down. See how many we can kill. Can I- extermination.
Starting point is 04:12:45 Bug bomb. Can you? I was gonna see if I could put like a blade barrier on top of the hole. So they just like, once the fire's in there, they can't get out. What's the radius in blade barrier? Blabary?
Starting point is 04:12:58 It's. We just barely crested. Oh, it was past this. 90 feet? Okay, we'll say you, as you're coming up at the top, you throw down the blade barrier. What's the radius of it though? Oh,
Starting point is 04:13:13 I don't think it says. I'll pull it up real fast. Oh, it does say, I'm sorry. 60 feet in diameter. No. You can make a straight wall of 100 feet or 60 feet in diameter. Or a ringed wall up a 60 feet.
Starting point is 04:13:26 Okay, so you can make a wall that kind of goes on the one side of it. Oh, okay. It's okay. Yeah, do the wall of fire. On the other, okay, so you create. You don't get to make, get the whole radius, but between like the wall of fire and we'll say the bladed wall, you blast the kind of opening there. you coast away watching and hearing as dozens of on kegs that are climbing up at the top begin to just...
Starting point is 04:13:53 And then eventually the elves begin to burrow back into the rock and stone and vanish. The ones in the surface begin to burrow below, and a calm stillness comes over the exterior of the mines. As you all coast up, hundreds of feet in the air over the forest now, kind of licking your wounds. and so you removed the glitter and you removed the little coffin. The little stone plaque, it's it to kind of like wedge it out, but you got it up there. Okay. And that's where we'll call for the plate. Nice.
Starting point is 04:14:24 That was awesome. I'm at 57 hit points. Whoa. Wow. Yay. I had 100 to that and that's somewhere where I would. Oh my God. Where are you at?
Starting point is 04:14:35 I fear for you, man. 11. Oh my God. 11. 11. I was kind of hoping that like Tereb was a bitch. That was dope.
Starting point is 04:14:44 That was also created by the chat. Was it? Yeah. That was that baby? Yeah. Why do you do this to us, Chad? Why you make us kill a baby? I mean that was great, that was great.
Starting point is 04:14:57 That was like, I liked it. It's a fun, I like it. It's a fun tiny celestial. It's like being up with Cupid Doll. It's the prospect of doing it, something the attacks via the terrain as opposed to actually. Was he an evil baby? Right now.
Starting point is 04:15:12 Yeah, it was evil? Or could we have saved a day? The actual title for it is Simphi or the Withard Planitar. It was essentially a... A celestial seed that was placed to eventually emerge as a guardian in a future time, almost like a Ragnarok-type circumstance. But was the land around it became corrupted as it kind of gestated or was held in stasis, and then was awoken prematurely. And as such, it became this kind of horrible, monstrous... monstrous version of what it was supposed to be.
Starting point is 04:15:41 Sorry, dude, it was neutral, but it was dangerous. Not by us. It seemed pretty far now. Not anymore. It's fucking dead. All right. Thank you guys much. We'll be out next week with the Battle Royale.
Starting point is 04:15:59 That would be fun. Everybody kill Keel. Moral Warbat! Yeah, go for Keelette to begin with. Let's kill him. I am going to be looking at all of my spells. These two have to be. the first to go down.
Starting point is 04:16:10 What? Why? Because loot drop. Ooh. Oh, yeah. Yeah, we gotta get 100 games with this shit. Oh, it's gonna get it. So jealous.
Starting point is 04:16:20 Defend the cornucopia of the lute. I'm going for the machete. But Vex, you're my best friend. No, you're my best friend. I won't kill you. Okay. Let's get close to each other, please. Like within five feet.
Starting point is 04:16:35 Form an alliance. This one shoved my face into lava at the end of the last battle royale. That's Battle Royale. I love you. Sush. It was pretty good. Snitches get stitches. And then Mike did it to me immediately the next round.
Starting point is 04:16:47 I love you. Yeah. Yeah, it was pretty black. You had to fight in the back off. That was so random. Exactly. Yes, it was. Tight.
Starting point is 04:16:55 Awesome, guys. Thank you so much for watching. We're back next week Thursday with our Battle Royale. Hope you have a wonderful night and weekend. And this is Thursday, Ed. Yay. Good night. Good night.
