Wee wee, Dungeons & Dragons!
Apparently.
My hair's just falling.
Oh, man.
We're going to get through this fast
before they all fall apart.
Yeah.
So first up, NordVPN, which means visit
from the world's number one French magician.

Which shows are you watching, Freya?
You know, RuPaul's Cigarette Drag Race,
Two Smoked Girls, The Wheel of Mime, You're watching free. You know, RuPaul's cigarette drag race,
two smoke guns, the wheel of mime,
road rules, and another thing about NordVPN.
Let me guess.

how real horse magicians do,
with a magic off.
Ah, very well.
Your best trick versus mine.
These idiots will decide who wins.
Okay.
All right.
I'm French, it's my way.

Ooh!
Oh!
Yeah!
What a hell of a conqueror hero.
Wow.
Oh, I think you almost killed Travis.
That's a trouble.
I don't understand what that, what's that?
Should we move that glass?
How are we going to hit it?
Oh, wow. It's, I don't, what that, what's that? Should we move that glass? How are we going to hit it?
Oh, wow.
Amazing.
It's incredible.
Is it really alcohol?
Hope so.
Maybe you should taste it and find out.
Never goes well.

Laura, you got some stuff to talk about.
I have stuff to talk about! Okay, well first, I'm going out. Laura, you got some stuff to talk about. I have stuff to talk about!
Okay, well first, I'm going out of order,
but I'm going to talk about this, because I'm wearing it.
Oh, you noticed that? That's awesome!
This is our Laudna dress.
It's so great. Check it out.
Oh no, it scrolled all the way!
Wait, go back up! It's a dress!
I'm going to go back. I'm going to talk about it in a second.
Look. back up! It's a dress! I'm going to go back. I'm going to talk about it in a second. Look! We have
Caduceus Clay kitchen stuff!
Yes!
That we made!
Look, they got toast!
Wait, where's my pot holder?
It's over there. Matt, you grab the pot.
Oh, we threw the pot holder.
I may have thrown the pot holder.
It took us seven years to get this streamlined.
Artists by Savannah Mayer. We did it because we have that cookbook, you guys, so now you can
have stuff that you can take it out of the oven with. You will not get messy anymore. You will
not get messy because you can cover your body with this. And look at this pot holder.
Yeah, we're all sorry.
Wait, wait, hey!
Oh, that's cool, actually.
So you can wash it.
Yeah.
That's awesome.
Isn't that awesome?
We also have this, which I should have waited for.
But this artist is Adrian Helton.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh.
Oh my gosh.
I should stand up a little bit.
I was going to say, it's so flowy.
Ooh!
So yeah, it's amazing.
And then we also have these new die sets!
Yay!
Have you guys seen these in person yet?
No.
We have an Ashton Graymore set.
Pretty cool.
You got to look at them.
No, I'm bringing them.
Okay, hold them up because they're amazing
and tell me what they remind you of!
Oh wow.
Oh, there we are.
There are your minds.
Oh my god, there's little chunks of skull.
Pieces of his head.
Little brain chunks.
They're so beautiful.
Oh, they're really great.
And it got the hammer?
Yeah, it's got the hammer.
Nice.
And then we also have.
Oh, that's what I'm thinking.
Fade.
I love them.
Oh my god, and look at the inside.
I know, it matches your little dress
that you have on your cape.
A little liner.
Ooh.
They have little flowers on the inside.
Oh my goodness. Aren't they so pretty?
What'd you roll?
Lucky number seven.
I rolled a nat 20, which means I get to keep them
for the night. Yep, yep, there we go.
Mine!
Oh yeah, that's what we got.
Awesome, thank you, Laura.
Fuck, these are great.
Lady, I married you next to the horse.
Hey, next to the horse lady!
You guys, the first episode of
Kandel Obscura, chapter two,
is available to watch right now on Twitch,
YouTube, and our podcast channels.
So good.
That's our go.
You guys got to watch it.
It's bonkers.
I'm feeling the horror now.
Yeah, you can join the Circle of Needle and Thread
for episode two on September 28th.
And if you want to learn a little more about this,
whoa, whoa, calm.
Shh.
If you want to learn a little more
about this new group of investigators,
you can visit critrole.com for some fun little Q&As
with the cast on our website.
Nice!
Isn't that right, Morty?
Yeah.
Aw, he's a sweet boy.
This is getting super surreal in a very Twin Peaks session. Next up, Demiplane.
Yes!
For those who are aware, Demiplane hosts digital tool sets
for a vast range of tabletop games out there,
and now the Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn
has joined those very ranks.
Yeah!
Tal'Dorei Reborn is live on Demiplane's 5e Nexus.
They're home for independent
and third-party publishing content for 5e.
Now, this Nexus edition of Tal'Dorei Reborn,
I made the place, I should pronounce it properly, is specifically formatted to be accessed with any device
with tools and tips to make game prep even easier for you.
And in quarter one of 24, 2024,
you'll be able to create characters
with Tal'Dorei Reborn's race, class, backgrounds,
feats, items, and spells with 5e-Nexus'
upcoming character tools that'll be launching around then.
Plus, to be playing makes it easy to discover people
to play with using matchmaking and group finding capabilities.
Very useful.
If anyone has tried and had a hard time finding a group,
finding a GM, this is the place to do it.
There's a lot more in store.
New games and content are added every month.
Please go check it out and you can learn more
at www.demiplane.com.
I've seen it.
It's a spy.
Be Nexus.
He looks dope.
Nice. I think that it. It's a 5B Nexus. It looks dope! Nice.
I think that finally concludes our announcements,
as much as I would love to keep Sam in that outfit.
Oh god, it's so hot!
I think let's go and jump into the game
and bring us into tonight's episode of Critical Role. Critical.
Critical.
It's Thursday night.
One by one we climb until we reach the top.
Two by two we fall.
Will we meet our end or meet our destiny?
Hold your breath and roll.
How do you want to do this?
It's Thursday night.
All ye critters come join us.
It's time to continue our flight.
There is magic and mystery.
Who knows what will happen?
He might.
But one thing's for sure We never give up on the fight
From the healer
To the renegade
We all share the same goal
Adding more allies
Taking more chances
Hold your breath and roll
You can certainly try
It's Thursday night
All ye critters come join us
It's time to continue our play
It's Thursday night
There is magic and mystery
From darkness our friendship will rise
But one thing's for sure
We never give up on the fight
Oh, get ready
It's Thursday night SAM and LAURA
And welcome back.
So last we left off, Bell Hells had-
Bell Hells?
Bell Hells.
Bell Hells. Bell's Hells.
Just the one.
Had sought out aid with an artifact
they had uncovered
that seemed tethered to parts of Ludinus Leth's past.
In doing so, you sought out Dancer,
who has a tumultuous history with FCG,
as well as heading back to Bassuras
to bring their skill and talent
to combine with that of Imahara Joe
in hopes of discovering the true nature
and or the capabilities of this artifact
once it were to be repaired, refurbished.
Upon arriving there, you found that
it seems a lot of outside military force
by interested temple factions
or other military factions around Exandria
are starting to gather in the Hellcatch
around the ground zero of where the Bloody Bridge
currently still tethers the moon Ruidus into the sky.
Here, you also discovered that Imaharjo's shop
had been shuttered up and apparently had long been captured
by Paragon's call within the city
and they were forcing him to do work
for Paragon's call itself
and by proxy, the Ruby Vanguard.
You manage to ruin entirely Paragon's call within
and the foil the plans and capabilities
of General Rutanish, one of the secondary generals
beneath Otohan Thule.
And putting them to rest and covering your tracks,
you saved Imahara Joe and another companion of his,
also of quite intellect and capability,
and with the aid of Keyleth,
sent them off to a safe space with her
while she managed to handle her business
in the time to come of growing Timalt.
Comes around.
Yes.
And then sent you all to the rarely journeyed continent
of clustered islands known as the Shattered Teeth
to seek information and answers surrounding the essence
and mystery of Ashton's past and current nature.
Very excited.
Let's do it.
As you all step through the temporarily open portal
of the tree that sends you into this strange,
unfamiliar landscape, as the sound of the magical trunk
closing behind you, you all begin to glance around.
You now stand in the center of a relatively dense forest.
Humid is the air.
Not too terribly warm, but definitely a thick humidity that surrounds
you. The trees themselves are these black and white spiraled birches that the actual trunks seem
to grow in a slow corkscrew up into the sky, where a thick canopy of birch leaves clusters up large
parts of the sky. The current, now currently fading daylight
that you can see at this point
gives a strange yellowish tone.
I say that because the cloud cover
and the fog that chokes the middle of this forest
is quite thick, and everything just has
this slight sepia-amber hue.
But here you are, in the middle of this unknown space,
in what you hope to be the island of
Savaal.
Did you say what the temperature was like?
It's a little warm, but not to an uncomfortable point.
Okay. Can we see other islands among us?
Are we in the thick of an island?
Would we know we're on an island if we didn't know where we were going?
Are we landlocked at the moment?
Yeah, can we see ocean?
Make a perception check.
Oh shit, first one.
Ocean perception.
Natural 20.
Oh!
No, it's not a hill climb!
For a total of 31,
you can see the ocean.
It's wet! You cannot see the ocean. It's wet!
You cannot see the ocean.
The fog is too thick.
Even with a natural 20,
you're unable to see too far beyond
what is obscured by the general weather
that surrounds you at this place.
What you do pick up with a natural 20
as you glance around is this topography
is like slow rolling hills, it seems,
and where the jungle gets dense in some places,
you glance up into the distant trees
and you can see all manner of shadowed little creatures
that exist in the bowels of the trees above
that are staring down and skittering and watching.
Probably a good half, I'd say two dozen or so
that are darting around.
Like little marmoset-type creatures?
They look to be about maybe a foot and a half
from end to end.
Oh.
I see him doing his eyeball thing,
and I use my nose.
How does it smell?
Make a perception check.
Yeah!
Get both nostrils going!
Said all of that out loud.
I'm 17.
You pick up...
What's your sniff?
You pick up the natural earthen musk
of naturally rotting vegetation
with hints of lavender and a bit of sea spray.
Oh, sea spray.
There's an ocean nearby, intoxicating.
We are indeed lucky to be here.
It's about this time that your perception.
You okay?
Did you whisper loud in there? Yes, I hear you.
With him making that note, and you being so perceptive,
you begin to pick up the faintest sound of waves crashing,
and you can pinpoint the direction
in which they are the loudest.
Okay.
I don't see it, but I think I hear
surf off that way.
Do you want to get a look?
See where we are?
I could fly up.
I forget, is Keyleth with us?
Or did she just send us through?
Okay.
I could fly up and look around.
Maybe the fog is not as heavy up high.
Okay.
Or...
Don't give away your position, be careful.
Yes, excuse me.
Let's go look at the ocean.
See where we are.
The lavender's dangerous around here.
All right.
What?
Anyway, I think it's that way.
Yeah, let's go look.
What are you doing with the lavender?
I'm just chewing on some piece of moss.
Oh, man.
Why are you being so weird?
Huh? All right.
This is very rare terrain.
Not a lot of people have been here.
I don't think I realize you are such a big
ocean lover.
Oh, wow. What's happened to him?
You're like an island boy.
You operate on island time.
You got to get to know the place you're in.
You got to get it in your body and your blood.
Okay. Fear it.
Has no one noticed this is how he always is?
Are we suddenly surprised?
No, I feel like this is extra chat.
It's kind of twitchy.
Go get some dirt.
Rub it in my hands.
Know what it is?
I think it might be that he's been to every continent,
maybe except this one.
Oh!
The smells are exciting.
This is new for him,
and he hasn't had a new experience
in probably 100 years or so.
Well, I've had a couple new experiences,
but, you know, new location.
Yeah. Yeah.
Do you have a map with pins in it?
No.
No!
That would be good.
Should have done that.
Maybe I'll whittle one.
There you go.
Whittle a map.
I need wood.
All right.
Following the path to the sound,
the rest of you following suit,
you can hear the distant crashing.
It's the moving of waves. As it gets louder and louder, suit, you can hear the distant crashing.
The moving of waves. As it gets louder and louder, you eventually can pick up
the smell that you had picked up earlier,
that salty hint of brine that comes on gusts of wind.
The wind isn't continuous here,
but there are bursts that come through,
especially as you get further away from the thickness
of the forest where you arrived in,
and eventually you can feel the ocean breeze
become a bit of an occasionally blowing wind.
The trees begin to thin out a little bit,
and no more than maybe 20 or so minutes walk
from where you first arrived,
you can see where the tree line ends,
and the faint bit of fog begins to show the bluish color,
although in the nerdy slay, more of a grayish color
of water beyond a cliff edge.
Oh, a cliff.
Oh.
What kind of cliff?
How high?
You're not quite there yet,
but as you approach and get closer to the edge,
it takes you a moment to get the depth perception to focus.
The fog is quite ever-present here.
It seems to, in some places, choke your vision out
to maybe about 150 to 200 feet at most.
Other times, even tighter than that.
Once you get where the edge of the cliff is,
you can see it drops about 150 or so feet.
A pretty steep decline before it breaks into rocks.
You can see there's a dark, black, pebbled beach,
maybe only about five or 10 feet at the bottom
before it goes right into the ocean lagoon
that surrounds here.
You can see that there are other outcroppings
of heavy stone that are partially eroded over the ages
that stick out like small spires or teeth from the ground
or from the water itself in parts of this inlet.
It just goes off into endless water
before the fog takes it entirely.
You said we've got maybe 100 to 200 feet
of distance of sight around us.
Does that mean that the cliff is somewhere
between 100 and 200 feet down, if we're able to see?
I said about 150 feet. 150?
Yeah, so you can see down to the beach
and a little bit into the water,
and then the fog just consumes the rest of it.
You said we could see other rocky...
Black Pebble Beach?
Yeah, jutting out,
but we don't see any other islands.
Correct.
You can't see very far beyond the edge of the ocean.
You know, I heard Cluster of Islands.
I was picturing something more like Dalen's Closet.
Oh, yes.
Yeah, it's supposed to be an amazing vacation spot.
I don't know. I've never been there.
You've been there?
Oh, yeah.
Is it? I've been there.
It's a closet? I don't understand.
It's like a vacation resort-y sort of place, you know?
You stay on the beach,
they have huts and yeah.
Lots of weddings, I hear.
People go and have them.
Destination spots.
Not easy to get to, though, I hear.
Yes.
Well, if we can't go out into the ocean,
should we look for a trail or a path or something?
Did we take a long rest?
Out of curiosity, last game?
We took a short rest.
Okay, so you're still a little lucky.
Do we have any spells?
And the person we're looking for is, what's their name?
Snivall.
Snivall the Island. That's the island.
Jirana?
We're on Snivall.
Jirana.
Jirana.
Jelvana? Jirana.
Jirana. Jirana.
I had something in my head.
High School Jirana? J-I-R- something I can't remember. High School Jirana?
J-I-R-A-N-A.
Was it Jirana the Shore Shrew?
The Shore Shrew.
Shore Shrew, that's right.
Jirana the Shore Shrew.
Let me see if I have any sort of finding tap spells.
No.
And other than the critters that are moving through
the trees,
there's no signs of life
or that people have been around?
You haven't seen any structures or civilization.
You've seen there are nests,
there are plenty of insects around you.
There is natural life on this island, but so far,
and you've only seen but a small portion of it from what island, but so far, and you've only seen
but a small portion of it from what you've seen so far,
this portion is not very...
not very civilized or built upon.
You don't see signs of civilization.
Untouched.
Gosh, we can't see far in any direction.
Normally, I'd say have you or Fatay go aerial,
but that's not going to really help.
I mean, I can try to reach out mentally to Jorana.
Jorana.
Jorana.
Yeah, I don't know if it'll work.
It depends on how close she is.
I was able to do it at FCG,
because they were not too far away.
Yeah.
Give it a try.
Certainly try.
Yeah.
We could at least see if there's anything around us
that we're not aware of.
Yeah.
So I'm going to try to send
a message to Jorana.
Sending or message? Sending.
Okay, what do you send?
Jorana, my name is Imogen Temult.
I was sent by Keyleth, the voice of the Tempest,
to meet with you?
Are you here on the island of? Slaval. Slaval.
Okay, roll a dmg 100 for me, please.
Ooh boy, wild magic.
57.
57.
That heavy static seems to come through again
and it seems the ever colorful pattern 57. 57. That heavy static seems to come through again
and it seems the ever-colorful pattern
of the ever-present magical tangled weave
is still consuming the sky beyond the clouds above.
Did I take any psychic damage from that?
For this one, yeah, you would take
three points of psychic damage. I'm resistant to it. So one point of psychic damage from that. For this one? Yeah, you would take three points of psychic damage.
I'm resistant to it.
So one point of psychic damage.
Sweet.
So we either blindly walk into the island,
or I could try to contact the change bringer for guidance.
That's very low percentage.
The last time you tried that,
they didn't help us much.
A little aerial view might be good.
Well, I mean, she just works in mysterious ways,
that's all, and eventually we found
exactly where we needed.
Yeah.
So I would say that she did help.
I thought you didn't want to give away our position.
It's literally what you said like five minutes ago.
Yeah, but I'm feeling it now.
Are we looking for a big, giant tree?
I mean, maybe.
Technically, probably.
Caleb mentioned...
Right? Yeah, but they're like...
Yeah, it's supposed to be a big, old tree.
A von Tver?
Yeah, so maybe I fly up,
see if I can spot a tree coming out of...
I hope it's within 200 feet of us.
The Great Tree of Atrophy.
Well, maybe if it's big enough, I'll be able to see it.
Maybe, maybe.
All right.
So, let me see.
Do I have a spell?
It says,
but the Evandre Ver, the Tree of Atrophy,
was on the Isle of Coluthar.
Oh, wait, what?
Is that true?
Yep. Slivall, Jorana is Slivall.
Did she send us to Slivall?
Is this Slivall?
Or did she send us to the Orges?
Slivall is where she sent us, right?
Correct.
Because she's uncertain where the island of Calutha is.
She's never been there.
Oh, okay. But Jorana
would be the person to talk to.
Also doesn't mean we can't see it from here.
That's true.
Yeah.
Maybe if we get high enough,
we can see above the fog.
I can fly me and another person up.
Who's got really good vision?
Eyes.
That's you, right?
Yeah. Okay.
Hey.
I should have a break of day.
Actually, I could, yeah.
I'll fly me and him up.
Okay, so you grab Orym and
take off up into the sky.
We should just keep moving.
I'll send Pate with them as well,
just so I can have eyes if something goes wrong.
Don't worry, I'm coming as well!
Hold that behind you.
Me?
Yeah. Oh, okay.
His skin is just flapping.
Yep, the bones are like
the size of my whole back.
He's a cute little backpack.
How about you're on my back and then he's on your back?
That's so cute. Great, yep.
Technical or snowman?
Yes.
Let's go.
Have I ever flown before?
I don't think so.
You've certainly fallen pretty far.
Yeah.
It's like flying backwards.
How do you feel about this? Is it okay?
And you can jump real high.
That's pretty cool. Yes.
But I can only see 100 feet, right?
Well, until we get above the fog, potentially.
We'll see, we'll see.
You climb 50, 100,
200 feet, 400 feet, 600 feet.
The temperature is dropping a little bit.
The fog, you're worried, is about to go on forever
until eventually it begins to thin and break.
So you both
break up into a clear blue sky
surrounding you on the horizon.
As you glance down,
it is a near endless fog bank
that just consumes the entire ocean beneath you,
except for the occasional rare breaks
where you can see that deep, dark blue
that just peeks through ever so faintly.
This entire region, even up here,
with the blue skies turning to the darker shades
as the sun is setting on this side of Exandria,
you don't have that much daylight left.
And what you do have,
everything just feels like a dreamscape beneath you.
You're above the clouds,
but everything beneath you looks like cloud.
So all of the shattered teeth are obscured.
From where you currently are flying,
the majority of it is, yeah.
In your head, you hear,
you see anything?
Do I?
Can I see any shadow in any direction?
Make a perception check.
Switch to infrared.
Are we dreaming?
Can you read my mind?
Well, I got to reroll my one,
but that's okay because the other one's a natural 20.
Ooh!
So 31.
31.
From up here, as the light of the day begins to fade,
you glance through for anything unique or different.
You can see it in the breaks
as you just sit there and breathe quietly.
From this distance, you can't see the patterns
of waves moving, but the coloration,
you can definitely see the pockets
of where ocean is visible.
You do see, god, it could be miles away, you're uncertain,
but a shadow weave through one of the top parts
of the fog bank.
Something there. shadow weave through one of the top parts of the fog bank.
Something there. Land, maybe?
Can you help me remember?
Sure.
You point out before it,
and you see something, this shadow rise again,
but it goes a little higher.
And at this point, it's almost like a...
Nope.
That is a creature, Orym.
That is a very large creature.
So far away.
Looked like an island,
but it was definitely not staying still.
You know the thing about creatures that are like that.
Yeah.
Uh-huh.
It could be.
Or a Nogata.
Or a Nogata.
Cloud Katoa?
Cloud Katoa.
Was it in the water or in the clouds?
In the clouds.
Shove!
We're going down.
That's a very large creature,
and we are leaving the sky.
Yes?
We're going to love this monster.
So we'll just, as quietly as possible,
drift down back down.
What if it's Falkor?
It is not Falkor.
What is that, a ring or a hearing?
As you head back down,
you're about to emerge once more into the cloud
and fog that consumes this portion of the Shattered Teeth
in the ocean island below.
You get one final glimpse of the shadow in the distance.
And once again, you have no basis of comparison
to get a true point of death perception on it,
distance-wise, But with the 31,
you estimate that thing's probably
100 feet long or more.
What if it's a dragon?
You can't make out more than just the shape.
You watch as it goes through
and there's enough movement
where the length of it continues to arc.
What are you talking about?
What if it's a nice Falkor?
It's never a nice Falkor.
Are we lowering all the way down?
Is that what we're doing?
That was the goal.
There'll be no problem with us sleeping for a night.
No, we're good.
Do you want to face off with this giant thing?
Nope.
I'm going to try to just stay faced in that direction
as we lower so I can get a semblance of a bearing
for the direction we saw once we hit the ground.
Okay.
You eventually lower yourself down,
touching once more on the island surface.
Big.
That was real big, right? Real big.
We saw a thing.
Oh, you're back, Joel. Oh, you're back.
Oh, you're back? We just landed.
Did you see the island?
Did you see? We saw shit. There was shit all to see.
It's all fog.
It was fog forever.
We felt like we were rising forever.
Cool.
We did break the surface, but you can't see land.
You can't see anything.
Because it's hidden.
The entire place is hidden,
but we saw a really big fucking thing in the...
Big how? Big ground? Big what? Big tall. Tree bigs? but we saw a really big fucking thing in the...
Big how? Big ground?
Big what? Big tall.
Big, like, lion through the clouds?
Potentially a bird?
Like, how big did you say, Orym?
Like a hundred? A hundred-ish feet.
Not a head, like...
Serpentine? We didn't see a head.
Maybe. Snakey?
What are we doing this?
So maybe we don't go that way, or we do go that way.
There's no way to, I don't know.
I think we're going to find out. It's in the sky.
When I point, am I pointing away from land here
on some angle?
Where you're pointing right now
would be a little bit inland from where you're standing.
If you want to make a nature check
to see if you can ascertain some direction,
you did see the direction where the sun was setting.
And this would be to pinpoint your knowledge. I'm not as good at deeds. and obtain some direction. You did see the direction where the sun was setting. When we're just going in.
This should be to pinpoint your knowledge.
I'm not as good at deeds.
Yeah, it's a three.
Well, I think it was like.
Wait, wait, it was a survival check?
Was that a survival check?
Survival check.
Could I do a survival check
to figure out the direction?
Survival or nature, both of you.
Then it's a five.
Five, okay.
It's still a little tough, but.
Okay. Would I have had an idea of which direction it was? You can certainly give it a shot,. Then it's a five. Five, okay. It's still a little tough, but. Okay.
Would I have had an idea of which direction it was?
You can certainly give it a shot,
since you both had a view.
Oh, you mean like they're trying to remember
which way they saw it as they came down in the clouds?
But also which direction the sun was setting
and pick out where they are.
23.
There we go.
Where you were facing out at the ocean
was in an eastward direction.
Where you saw this shadowed space
would be more of a northern direction.
So you know you're on the eastern,
some sort of eastern side of the island
that you're currently on.
Well?
We definitely go north.
At some point, we're going to have to camp, though.
And being on the eastern side is probably good.
We'll get the first sun,
so that we won't have to be dark forever.
So we're in a good place.
Do you think we should get into tree cover
to find camp here?
Or we put our back against the cliff.
I mean, that does, what's more dangerous
than anybody being able to get at us
or something from the ocean?
What about a wind situation?
It feels like we should be blocked from the elements.
Those animals in the trees, were they just curious
or did they look unnerving?
Best you could tell without understanding them.
From what you could see, the shadows moving around,
they had these large, saucer-like eyes,
a grayish coloration around very, very big pupils.
You couldn't see a mouth, but they skittered adjacently.
There doesn't seem to be an aggression,
maybe curiosity, maybe studying,
maybe eventually, once they know enough, attacking.
You have no concept.
You have to take a look at them again.
I at least didn't get a predator vibe.
Especially with the nature check of what you rolled before,
carrying over to that.
You're uncertain if you got a predator vibe,
but you definitely saw a lot of them
and they definitely are aware of you.
Okay.
We got to pick a direction, y'all.
Can't just sit here with our metal dicks in our hands.
Maybe we just travel around
the border of the island a bit.
Okay.
See if we see any kind of civilization.
Okay. Stay on the beach.
Hope for a cliff. On the cliff?
Along the cliff edge, yeah.
All right.
So are we going to move south or north?
North. North.
Do we know direction?
There's no sun? Is there sun?
We just drove east.
Okay. Then let's go.
Ocean to the east, dragon was to the north.
We're on the east.
Yeah, so we travel north along the Serpentine.
Serpentine, Falkor, Lovesnake.
The skittering was something else?
The skittering was something else, yeah.
All right.
So we're traveling along the edge.
Okay. What's the marching order?
Marching order.
I'll go first.
So we're going to be going counterclockwise.
Also, at some point, we're going to need to take a nap,
because I know a few of us are tapped.
I can go up after Orym.
But it's getting late.
It looked like the sun was setting
from where we were up there. Who else is behind them?
I'll be up there as well with the nose.
Okay.
How about the rest of you?
Squishy's in the back, I'll take rear.
Yeah, I'll go in the back.
I'll be behind Chet.
I'm dead middle. Or Ashton,
behind Ashton, wherever.
Okay. Yeah.
Okay, yeah, because you're not squishy,
nor number one.
Well, I'm pretty squishy, but.
Yeah, middle even, power.
You know what? I'll go all the way.
I'll be the caboose.
Really? I mean.
I'll be the caboose. Okay.
Yeah, as long as.
I'll switch. Or I'm fucking protected.
So it'll get snuck up on.
Understood.
So in leading the front,
who is guiding you northward across the island,
looking for something useful?
I'm pretty good at it.
I have good eyesight, but I'm not really.
Okay, then I'll help to guide.
Okay. No!
We'll survive it.
I'll help you to survive. Guidance.
And what are you looking for, in particular?
Any signs of humanity.
Okay. People that live here.
Okay.
Yes?
Also, I mean, things are happening.
And you're going to look for traps.
I'm just looking for people that live here, right?
Who's got an eye out for traps? That would make sense.
I will look for traps.
Just in case we landed in a hunting grounds.
22. Reception or investigation check.
Yeah, 22.
22, okay.
You, one, help forward a path
that is seemingly the safest.
A lot of the rock here, when it's exposed in places,
is volcanic, and the deep black rock here is jagged in places.
Even the toughest of boots would take a heavy gash
if you're not careful.
So you tend to lead a way where it's the softer sediment
that's filled in the smaller valleys between these hills
and areas where the overgrowth makes a more spongy
and welcoming stride upon your shoes and little feetsies.
Just wanted to say that real bad.
I'm going to narrate little feetsies to her.
He's talking about my feet.
Feetie, feetie.
But the light of day begins to fade to its entirety,
leaving you into a darker,
but still amorphous space around you
as the fog gets thicker and thicker
as the temperature begins to drop.
But you also begin to see these tiny little
firebug-like lights that start to
light up through the bits of the local forest.
Do you remember what happened last time
we decided that something was glowy and cute?
It's true.
Well, if it's a fairy or a pixie,
we'll definitely not approach it, but it is lovely.
It is lovely.
Just with caution, that's all.
It's a really nice vibe,
but we don't need to go near it.
Can I release an infestation
that also looks like the little fireflies
to just, not attack, but just to float near them and see if-
Can you just call it an incursion?
Is there a minor version of infestation?
No. Fuck.
As you release this tiny, glowing swarm.
Take inspiration from my surroundings.
You know.
The coloration of these little lights
fit in a teal, almost like a light blue coloration.
The ones from the island.
The ones from the island. The ones from the island.
The ones that you create, what color did they give?
Bioluminescent wasps.
Like a nice green,
like the ones on the East Coast.
She needs to feel the color.
Yeah.
Like a nice synesthesia.
Yeah.
As they begin to head towards the nearest tree line
where a cluster of these lights are, the lights scatter.
Oh.
And seem to flee from this.
Well, that's rare.
They don't like to make friends.
That's very weird.
You're probably very visible.
Yeah.
Very, very visible.
Pass without a trace.
I am tapped.
Sure.
Do you have it? Yeah.
Yeah.
I think that'd be a really good idea.
Yeah, I'm going to do it.
I'm going to do it, just for you guys.
I'd want to make a stealth check for me,
if you're moving carefully through this area.
A 24 for trap checking.
Got it, good to know.
Stealth.
I'm going to just roll over.
That's good.
Ooh.
37.
Nice.
33. 33? That's right. Oh, that's good. Ooh. 37. Nice. Um.
33.
33?
19.
19.
Fearne.
Yes, I need to tell you.
Yeah, signed Fearne.
I was making sure I didn't stink.
I think the horse costume had a funny scent.
There's something wafting.
Blame it on the cusp.
I just needed Laura to smell my arms.
I respect that. Yeah, yeah.
No one's important.
Um, um, um.
What are we doing? Stealth.
I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry!
It's okay.
Pass without a trace.
What did you roll for stealth?
18.
18?
That's what's left?
No, 28.
I am present, I am here.
Also 28.
All righty.
You did it.
Orym? 28 as well. All righty. 22. Okay. I am present, I am here. Also 22. All righty.
Orym? 28 as well.
All righty. 22.
We should just tell.
Okay. That's fine.
What are we doing?
Okay.
I smell toast.
As you pull out of this section,
heading into a small ravine,
carefully being unseen as you move,
keeping tabs on each other
and occasionally seeing the lights
that are gathering around.
At first, they were beginning to cluster and follow a bit,
but as you all begin to use the space to not be seen
and to cover your tracks
and make as little sound as possible,
they begin to distance themselves a bit and spread out.
These are the fireflies?
The lights, yeah.
These are very good.
The lights. The lights?
Mm-hmm.
Continuing on a bit further,
you're now going northward,
which is going a little more inland
to this part of the island.
The lights, as they move nearby,
have that fog light aesthetic,
where what low glow there would be is now being diffused
and is spreading out into the space,
giving the light a larger appearance,
which in itself is a little spooky.
You probably pick up, with your passive perception,
what it is. You probably pick up with your passive perception
what it is, can hear the faintest sound
of tiny beating wings as one of them comes nearby.
They.
Okay.
Yeah, that's about it.
Nope.
Did it strafe by me, or I just happened to hear one?
It just cruised by.
You're not sure if it noticed or picked up anything,
but you just picked up the sound
and rolled a perception check for me.
I should let you know
that I regained my spells before our short rest
and then used my vial to regain my sorcery points. I didn't regain all my
spells, but I regained a couple, so if it's easy.
You got it. 24.
24. This looks almost like a tiny amphibious humanoid that's about an inch tall.
What?
That has a set of wings that's like
but it had this,
it had two arms and two legs
and a bipedal glances.
It also had some sort of a smooth,
textured, almost toad-like skin to it.
Reptilian?
Was it just on its way, or did it look at me?
It didn't seem to notice you as it went by.
Did it have little clothes?
Did it look like Krista?
No, it had no clothing.
It did have that glowing teal color.
Its body itself had this
almost like a teal and fuchsia combination, almost like a swirl across its body itself had this almost like a teal and fuchsia
combination, almost like a swirl across its body.
Not bugs.
The lights, they're not bugs.
What are they?
Little, I want to say frog fairies?
That doesn't seem accurate.
Frog fairies?
No, but little guy.
I saw arms and legs. You do hear,
you're not quite certain where off, but this low,
this rumble growl that suddenly
like a heavy impact or some sort of a,
whether it's an exhale or a small collapsing of a few stones
that are echoing in the distance.
You're not quite certain what it was,
but there's this odd sudden sound
and the lights scatter off.
Which direction can we come from?
It would be...
If we're moving north to the west?
It would be northeast-ish from where you currently are.
Further up the coast.
Fearne? Did it seem far away?
Make a perception check.
Fearne, you're good at, well,
you have experience going through strange wooded places.
Is there any, should we move fast?
Should we move slow?
Should we bury ourselves?
I feel like we should probably just move slow.
Okay.
Just take it easy.
I mean, if you want to roll in the dirt,
get a little, you know, camouflage situation.
Oh, natural.
The way the echo of the sound hit your ears,
it felt like it was a ways away,
and the sound echoed a bit and diffused
by the time it got to you,
which made it hard to really pinpoint what it was
or how far it is, but it was a little bit away.
Whatever it is, it's probably more scared of us.
Oh, then we are of it?
Yeah, we're fine, we're fine.
Well, then we're not. Yeah.
I would argue that.
I would argue that.
Do you want to fight me?
I'm very frightened.
I'm more frightened of it than I am of you,
so I'm just extrapolating.
I don't know, that's...
I'm very frightened of you, don't get me wrong, but...
That's...
We do not know where the fuck we are.
If we're skirting the edge,
are we still on a cliff, too?
If you're heading northward,
the cliff has spread off a little bit,
and you're going more inland now as you head north.
The cliff that was on the east side
is heading in a northeastern direction as it curves,
and you guys continue going north inland.
Just heading towards where we think.
Yeah.
All righty now.
You just got to keep going, right?
At some point, we got to figure out somewhere to go.
I know, yeah, if I see along the way
a place that looks like good campable,
would you like us, should we stop?
Well, yeah, and I'm looking for, I'm looking down.
I'm going to look for trails,
not necessarily humanoid trails,
but could be a trail made by deer or something.
Make a perception or survival check.
Maybe specifically that head towards the shore,
like the east, like heading down the cliff,
because her name's the Shore Shrew, right?
Right, she's got to be on a beach, right?
Near the water?
No.
Don't care to tell you what I read.
Okay, fair enough.
I mean, that's, yeah, maybe.
I'll also, I'm going to do this anyway.
I'm going to have Pate go invisible.
Okay.
Have him fly out ahead
and be a little invisible scout for us.
Okay.
In the direction that we're going.
All right, which way want me to go?
Okay, we're going to, we're going, like,
shut, I'm talking.
Shh.
We're going to be heading this way, kind of northwest.
So I want you to just fly ahead,
stay 50, 100 feet in front of us.
Quiet. Be my eyes, quietly.
Don't touch the glowing teal buggies.
Be quiet.
That means no singing, Patay.
Don't hum to yourself as you go.
And don't hit on the fairies.
He's being pretty quiet.
He is being very quiet. There's a lot of rules.
He's being good.
All right, ready?
Go.
Vanishes mid-flay.
So he's off guarding the space.
Who's near me? FCG?
Hi.
I'll hold on to FCG's little ponytail
and look through Pate's eyes as we go.
Okay.
Pate, trying to push through the fog elements
of the evening mists,
passing by some of the glowing orbs as they go,
but nothing really catching his eye in the interim.
You continue on as it gets darker and darker
until any semblance of daylight that is diffused
by the surrounding weather has vanished.
And now you are in pretty much pitch black,
aside from the handful of gentle glowing points
that occasionally drift through the nearby tree line
or descend into this winding valley portion
of the center island that you're following.
We don't have any way of making camp, do we?
That's what I was saying.
If I find a place to camp, then you want me to?
Yeah, I guess.
We should bunk down for the night.
I can send out, maybe I can send out
dancing lights in front,
but I'm going to try to make them look small,
like the same as those little fairy lights
that we were seeing.
Okay.
Flickering dancing lights
coasting out ahead of you a little bit,
just to illuminate some of the path as you go.
Very beautiful.
I feel like maybe that's a, if I'm not careful,
I feel like that's a big sign that there are things
moving through this place,
is wherever the lights might group together.
One of y'all up front's got darkvision, right?
I have darkvision.
Okay, good.
Yeah, who of you has darkvision?
Oh boy. Well, then,
two of you are leading,
and the rest of you can't see anything,
except for that faint little,
if you're already putting the orbs up,
you can see what's around you.
Do you want me to take the orbs away?
I just can't see shit.
Give them a little bit of distance from us, I guess.
Yeah, I'm spreading them out.
Yeah.
We'll step up and take charge.
We've got this.
Rise to the occasion and we will keep an eye
for a clearing and maybe also some low limbs
in case we want to go for that jungle vibe.
Also, those big spider webs, you know how spider webs?
Oh, sorry. Those big spider webs, you know how spider webs? Oh, sorry.
Those big spider webs.
You know.
Okay.
I feel like spider webs, they know.
They know when they build at face level.
So it catches you right across the,
if you walk through it.
So I'm looking for spiders.
Okay. Make perception check.
I'll assist you.
Ooh.
Oh! Oh, it's almost a natural 20 for spiders,
but it's not.
It's a 21.
21.
No sign of any large webbing, necessarily,
though occasionally there are small spiders and insects
that take up residence in the nearby trees and branches.
You do come across, as you're pulling out of this
small valley dip, coming up closer to the central,
more central part of the island,
you step into a small divot
and then step out and glance behind
and notice the divot is more of an impression.
The ground itself, the soft mud portion of this
is pretty smooth and compact
where you just put through.
It looks to be...
It doesn't look like a track.
It looks like a very large foot, possibly.
Ooh!
Chet, Chet. Yes?
I think I just stepped in a really big print.
My god, is it?
How big is the track? How big is the track? What's it look like?
How many?
The track from what you can tell is about
seven or so feet from end to end.
That's a foot.
And the foot, from what you can see,
as you get a glance at it, step back,
it's not a humanoid foot.
It's thinner and stretched,
and it has almost a webbed end to it.
Like a bird?
Like a dragon?
Make a nature check for me.
Birds are my, I know birds.
So do I get advantage, bird advantage?
What's your first roll?
Three. Three?
You have no idea what this is.
Can I use my Hunter's Bane
and a combination of Grimm's Psychometry
to try and recall information?
Sinister or tragic history of an object
or an area location that I'm in?
That's cool.
If you want to try and touch into the history of the space.
Yeah, put my fingers in and take a big whiff.
I'm talented, that's weird.
Focusing in as you concentrate
and let the Hemocraft power
connect with the natural energies of this landscape,
you close your eyes and just feel the primal fight
between predator and prey,
a familiar space for you, intoxicating in moments.
This is a very unbridled place
where nature has long reigned,
and as such, the denizens of this island
have survived or hunted.
And you are uncertain who is who,
but you get the sense that there,
many innocent creatures have met their end
in this land violently, not because of malice,
not because of murderous intent,
but because some things have to eat
and some things have to be eaten.
This belongs to a foot.
So, nice.
Should we not spend the night here, then? Should we just keep going through the night?
Maybe we move the opposite direction of the foot?
And find camp?
We saw a massive shape in the distance off this island.
We all just heard, I just heard something
not too far off that sounded big, and now this.
What is safe?
Because, so this is a big seven-foot print.
It looks like it has webbing in how many-ish toes?
Yeah.
It looks like three larger ones
and one small side one.
As you're glancing upon, you can see there's another one
that's not quite in, this one pushed in deep
and is easy to spot because it was put in the mud.
There's a second one that's parallel to it
that's partially against the rock, where you can see only the edge of it that touched the mud. There's a second one that's parallel to it. It's partially against the rock,
where you can see only the edge of it
that touched the mud before it,
pressed into a piece of stone hill outcrop.
I was curious, the next one, how far apart is it?
How wide is the gate? There isn't a stride.
They're just parallel.
And the one that you step through is deep.
Like it landed.
Can I look up?
Does it look like the trees have been taken out?
Oh yeah, any broken limbs or?
You glance up and you can see
a lot of the treetops in this area,
look, they've received damage.
Not mass swaths of it, but you can see
there's clusters of the nearby tops
that are snapped and broken
and fresh branches have grown.
Some others that look- It was the most recent.
Some of them look, there's damage all over,
but there's some that look fresh and some that look older.
I mean, wisdom would say that we freeze for the night,
make camp, make as little noise as possible
so we can hear the things that are moving,
and then start again when the sun rises.
Okay. If it comes from above,
how are we going to not get seen?
Do we have any shelter there?
Is there any shelter? Yeah, is there something
we can get under? What's our terrain
right where we are?
What if we're falling logs or something?
There are fallen trees, but the trees themselves
are maybe at their thickest, about a foot and a half wide.
They corkscrew upward.
So those that are fallen aren't themselves
massive redwood spaces to hide.
As far as, a lot of the topography here
is just rolling hills and small valleys.
There aren't, outside of the cliff edge that you saw,
there aren't a lot of signs of caverns or spaces to hide.
What if we hold it up?
The stone you just mentioned is just a one-off boulder.
I mean, there are parts of stone that you see,
but they're just areas where either
any sort of moss has been rubbed off of it
or plant life didn't take root.
There is quite a bit of moss here.
The moisture tends to bring
a unique ocean-based moss that grows over in areas
between where the trees and root take place.
Stick it up to a rock or something.
That's what I was wondering.
Are there any overturned trees
that have some space under them or something
that we can put the hole underneath
so we can open up the scarf?
Yeah, possibly. There's a problem with the hole underneath, so we could open up the scarf. Yeah, possibly.
There's a problem with the hole.
What's the problem?
What's the holdup?
What's the problem?
It's where we left,
it's where we put all of our problems from.
Oh, there's a bunch of dead bodies in the hole.
Yep, and we haven't dumped them yet.
I've been trying to find a place
where it's not going to be a problem.
We talked to one, weren't we?
The hole, just so you're aware,
also has to be laid out onto a flat surface.
Oh, it can't be like a.
Can I check in with Pâté,
so he'll see anything?
Pâté is just glancing around.
You can see some of the little blue lights
are inspecting the dull purple sparkles
that you have preceding your walking.
You can see they're passing by and gathering curiously
and trying to figure out what it is
that is giving off this different colored light.
That's what Pate can see?
Yeah. Okay.
That's bad.
Okay. Everything's bad.
Everything's bad. This place is bad.
Yeah.
Well, maybe we still try and get to the beach, then.
At least. Maybe we head over to the shoreline,
see if we can get down the cliff's edge and...
It's pitch dark.
Descending 100 feet in the dark.
It's pretty rough.
Unless we have a soft way to fall?
We do. We can feather fall.
For everybody?
I could try to carry some of you down.
As an animal?
Yeah. Cool. Yeah.
I've got a propeller.
That rush, that heavy rumble hits again.
It seems a little further away than it was last time,
but it's loud enough that wherever it is,
it shakes the ground slightly,
and you hear that sound once more.
Where the fuck did that come from?
And it doesn't sound like a
It's like a building.
It's a building, then a rushing impact,
and then it fades. Bless you.
Bless you.
A rushing impact and then a what?
Then it fades.
Like that Disney princess.
I mean, no matter how you slice it,
if we make camp, it's not going to be a fun night.
No, it'll be great. We're going to be stressed out.
We either do it up here, or we try and jump down.
I can get five of us down via Feather Fall.
But if we're plunking down for the night, right,
someone's got to stay up.
Yeah, for sure, and shift.
Having you can do that, and you can do that,
but that's not going to get us through the whole night.
I can. You can do it, too.
We can take turns.
Who are you talking about?
Feather Fall.
Oh, no, Feather Fall did get us down the cliff.
I knew that.
She can do five of us.
I can do five people with Feather Fall.
No, I know that. I meant, never mind.
I'm confused. I don't know. Confusion.
Then let's go to the cliffs.
I like the cliff because it's just something behind us.
Did we lose the cliff?
Did we go away from the cliff?
And now it's like...
You travel a ways inland.
You can probably head east and eventually find
another part of the cliff if you'd like to.
Does it feel like that would be,
assuming it doesn't get weird, turn fjord,
how far would it feel like we have ventured beyond it
if nothing had changed, just from the angle?
If nothing had changed, the angle?
Yeah, like probably a good,
Geometry-wise.
40 minutes or so to get to the cliff.
Let's just, we could just park it here.
Just go down and find our cover.
How's our cover?
Let's find a little bit of cloud cover
and let's make sure those little twinkly fuckers.
I will turn them off, Ashton.
No, not yours.
I'm talking about the other ones.
Yours are fine.
We'll find a nearby tree if we find one.
Can we find a nearby tree?
You can find one that's fallen.
Like you can see, it's splint.
It fell and splintered about five or so feet up
and part of it is still connected,
so it gives a slight canopy
that you could lay something over,
but that's about as best as you can.
Get to the base of it and be nice and quiet, no fire.
We'll have to just keep those weird little frog people away.
Okay, I have something I could try.
Ooh. Yeah.
So I think I can make plants grow,
but it might be like a really large space
that might look weird.
That it's like, oh, this is very lush over here.
This is strange.
It's nighttime, and it's thick fog.
That's true. Plants are plants.
Yeah? Yeah.
Try it.
Can I grow them around us?
Yes. Let's do it.
Just find a little area.
If it gets us killed, you'll never forgive yourself.
Can you use the tree and make it almost like a tent?
Like an A-frame?
Yes, I will try to make,
I'm going to cast Plant Growth.
Okay.
And I'm going to try to make us
a beautiful A-frame situation
that also looks like
natural, like it belongs here. Natural, like it belongs here.
Give us a little space.
Shattered Core.
Yeah.
But the thing is, it does...
Wait, this is the thing that's tricky about it.
It does produce a siren.
Yeah, a noise.
And...
So it's a 100-foot radius.
It's that big? Oh no, it doesn't have to-foot radius. It's that big?
Yes. Oh no, it doesn't have to be.
It doesn't have to be,
so I just want to put it in this little area.
Yeah, man, 25 by 25 will be fine.
Okay.
You need to grow in some vines.
Yeah, just something easy,
something that feels like the rest of the plants
in the space.
Little Bob Ross cabin.
Little Bob Ross. Great.
So as you all cluster on the base of this tree,
you connect with the energies of this island
and then will the vitality to be instilled
within everything in the immediate vicinity.
The rest of you, you hear the creaking
and the crackling of dried leaves
and branches and bark cracking and splitting.
As you look around, you can see
some of the other fallen trees
that have been long, rotting,
and being taken back by the forest
have cracked open, and vibrant, fresh green growth
is bursting forth from them.
It seems to swirl up, almost like vine wall cover
that seems to reach up and wrap around
the top of this fallen tree
until you have a relatively tight space
for the seven of you,
but a space that acts almost like a large natural tent.
This is so cozy.
So cozy.
This is beautiful.
Can I make a little door out of the branches?
Just try to make like...
Yeah, yeah.
Some flowers grow into them.
Yes. They give almost
like a beautiful swishing bead curtain vibe.
How about individual rooms inside?
Like a bathroom, a soft floor?
I'll try to add a little portable body.
I'll just put a little hole inside.
There you go.
Okay, great.
We can use our hole, the portable hole.
I also have a...
Our portable hole just smells like piss.
Sorry, guys.
We'll figure it out.
Can you take your dancing lights
and make them fairy lights in the view?
As long as it doesn't show.
I don't want it to show too much.
This is the rest of the game, just us decorating.
Yeah, we're just surviving to house hunters.
It's a girl's weekend.
I'm going to glab.
I fade down the dancing lights
to where they're really, really subtle in here.
Phillips you. Okay. All righty. They just slowly change. Yeah, I fade down the dancing lights to where they're really, really subtle in here.
Phillips here. Okay.
All righty.
They just slowly change color.
Wow, this is so nice, Fearne.
Thank you.
Yeah, this is great.
It's a little forge.
You can change it to Edison.
Nice.
All right, who's keeping watch?
Who's keeping watch?
I'll start.
Yep.
You know, I'm stuck.
I'll work on it.
Is there enough light
with all the glowing things in the air
for those of us without darkvision to see somewhat?
You can see occasionally clusters of two or three
of these lights traveling together,
and they light up the surrounding fog
to the point where you can see
maybe a few feet beyond them, and that's it.
I should turn off our interior lights
to make it easier to see outside.
Okay.
How about I go first?
Because I got the dark vision.
SAM and LAURA and LAURA and LAURA and LAURA
It's not tight.
I'll stay just outside of the entrance.
Okay. Just back to it.
Jump in heavy time zones.
And so for the rest of you,
it's still early afternoon,
but it's night where you are now,
which is on the other side of Exandria for the most part.
So you're all having to force yourselves to rest.
You're exhausted and you're hurt,
but it's going to be a little tough
to push through for a full night's rest,
but you can manage to do it.
I'm going to do a tree legs a bit.
Yep. Keep it at first watch.
Go ahead and roll perception for me.
Perception. Tree leg. That's a bitch. Yep. Keep it at first watch, go ahead and roll perception from here.
Perception.
Free lag.
That's a stick.
Sticks with you? 16.
16.
That heavy
sound you still hear.
Every 15, 20 minutes or so,
it seems to happen,
and it's consistent in its strength and its pattern.
Sometimes it's a little louder,
sometimes it's a little softer,
but it's pretty consistent.
Any changes on the wind?
Stop tootin', and maybe the wind will.
Not in particular.
You do see some of these glowing entities
passing around.
At one point, you swear you see two of them stop,
glance in, like they've noticed this change
in the topography, and then once they clock you,
seeing them, they dart off and vanish.
Cute. I love them.
Not supposed to eat wang.
Ah!
I just had to check. I had to check.
No!
My wang-up chest is, Chet's just gone.
He's just a skeleton in the doorway.
Yeah, don't poke the piranha.
Yeah.
Okay. All right.
Other than that, your watch is uneventful.
Cool.
Tag. Tag.
All right.
You're doing it?
Yep. Oh, you got darkvision, too?
I've got darkvision.
Sure. Here's darkvision.
You have darkvision?
Mm, I have, no. What do you want? I've got darkvision. Sure. Here's darkvision. You have darkvision? Mm, I have, no.
What do you want?
You got light?
Infrared. You got pâté with me, as well.
Indeed.
Can I talk again?
Oh, oh my goodness, yes, you can talk again,
but you have to be very quiet.
You put this, not being quiet.
What?
You just have to barely whisper.
This is as low as I go.
You didn't make me to be quiet.
I didn't, did I?
No.
Your vocal cords are also just to try and send you,
so it's not your fault.
It's not my fault?
It's not your fault.
It's not my fault?
Be proud of who you are.
Oh, I am.
Okay.
All right.
Roll a perception check for me.
So much loaded.
Come on.
It's all right, it's all right.
17.
It's not the worst. 17?
Okay.
You also hear that occasional
sound.
Can I start counting the minutes between it?
Yeah. Oh, like lightning?
Yes, yeah, just kettling the seconds.
Between 15 to 30 minutes between them, average.
And fairly uniform?
Fairly uniform.
What if?
Maybe it's like a geyser or something?
What if the creature is the Shore Shrew?
Okay, just go to sleep.
Imogen just sits up. creature is the Shorshrew. Okay, just go to sleep.
Imogen just sits up in the air. No, no, seriously.
What if the Shorshrew is like some giant?
Salamander?
I feel like Keyleth would have mentioned that
go back to sleep.
She would have said big, big blister.
I don't know.
What if she didn't want to scare us?
It doesn't matter. And it doesn't Dop want to scare us? It doesn't matter.
And it doesn't Dopplern, right?
It's from a fixed point, the sound.
Yeah.
It's got to be some sort of,
and does it sound like,
sounds like those geysers? Could be a geyser.
Could be a something.
Those ocean blowhole things?
Right.
Like the, yes.
White noise machine.
We can nature check.
Nature's white noise machine.
Ooh.
What's that pirate island on the east coast?
Ugh, five.
Can I assist her as we trade shifts?
I'll say probably not, because you're on trade shifts.
Sorry.
Good looking out.
Partway through your watch, you do,
because even though they scattered off,
you glance out and can see that more and more
of these little glowing lizard fairy creatures
are gathering around branches
and just, almost like they're calling their friends over
to come see this strange new thing
that's come to the island.
You watch a dozen, maybe 20 of them now
are all caught up in the branches above.
I'm just going to do that thing where
I'm going to take some leaves
and lay really still.
See if they come near me.
You want?
You see a few of them move together and talk.
They shove one of them forward.
They move and it gets back.
You talk.
They land on where your leg is.
You get a close look of it. and lands on where your leg is.
You get a close look of it. And it has these very long,
One eye.
Yeah, one long, thin arms
that just dangle from the front of it.
And it has stronger, thicker legs.
Its head itself comes to a long, pointed snout
that ends in a small horn or some sort of a
spike at the tip. It looks like an odd lizard with insect-like wings. You watch the glow that it
gives as well. It's flying. As it lands, the glow vanishes. Then it glows and then lands closer and gives off that light.
As it gets closer, you can see it has these very faint,
almost cloudy yellow-green eyes
with no noticeable pupil,
so you're not quite sure where it's looking.
They're bug out a little bit on the sides.
It sticks out its tongue to feel
vibration in the air as it goes, like a snake.
The fuchsia-teal swirl of color across its skin
makes it very unique from what you've seen
as you passed by, though with no light here,
it's just this black and white,
and the shadow almost like a zebra stripe pattern across it. I'm going to.
I'm just not moving.
And he darts back.
You just cadavered for that whole thing? Yeah.
I was imagining walking on your eye.
Like Eon Flags.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Exactly. Oh dang, good reference.
Continue to not breathe.
Uh-huh.
Yeah, it's really low anyway.
It's good.
Okay.
The rest of your watch is uneventful.
Okay.
Is there a third watch,
or does that take us through the night?
I'd say given the fact that
you can probably go a third if you really want to,
or you can try and get up
and start moving before the sun rises.
Will we get a long rest?
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
We'll give you a long rest if you want to do that.
You both take long watches.
Yeah, we can take extra long. I'm okay.
I actually prefer moving before the sun rises.
This counts as a short rest for sure, right?
Yeah. That was just a short rest for sure, right? Yeah.
That was just a short rest for you two?
Okay.
Yeah.
The rest of you would get full long rests, but.
But if we split it up and did another person,
they would get long rests out of it?
Correct.
Then yeah.
That's not, I can do another watch.
Yeah, let them get a long rest.
Tag.
Also, gameplay-wise in the future,
short rest recharges me completely.
Oh. Completely.
Oh. Oh.
My warlock spells come back at a short rest.
All right, so you're taking the last watch?
I'll take the last watch.
Perception check for me.
Not complicated.
Perception check. Perception check.
Disadvantage?
Because you do not have Nightmare.
Purse. That is true.
Yeah, so definitely disadvantage.
And you're going to have any spells that can give me light.
I have a light spell,
but I don't think they want me to turn it on,
so I won't do that.
Do you want Bette to stay up with you?
Oh, sure.
All right. I can be nice and quiet.
Great, I got no problem with you.
I never have.
I like it.
He's a spirometer.
14.
Oh, yeah.
14, okay.
You also, as you take your perch and glance out
beyond the exterior of this makeshift tent,
can see the glowing,
curious bunch that is swelling
with more and more individual glowing creatures
before they come and land and the glow stops.
At first, it looks like there's just a handful,
and then every now and then, when you look out
and make movement known,
about 30 points of light glow
as they all suddenly shift and move
and find other perches, and then all darken again.
Are any within 20, 30 feet?
Yeah, the majority of them, probably.
I'm going to just cast...
I don't know if this will work.
Speak with animals. Don't know if this will speak with animals.
Don't know if they're an animal.
Okay.
I'll just very lightly say,
can you guys understand me?
Do you talk?
A few of them light up for a second
and gather together,
and then float.
Then two of them glide up
to look at you at the front of the face.
The weird little lizard heads glancing.
They're so cute.
One of them looks real close.
And just grabs onto the side of your head
and perches on the side.
Don't seem to be communicating,
but one of them feels comfortable enough
to attach itself to the side of your face.
Oh, well, you're so cute.
Maybe you can understand me, but can't talk back?
We're looking for folks like us.
Do you know which direction they'd be?
Well, not like me, like them, humanoid-type people.
Wait till the corpse by the door.
Oh yeah, that's not a dead body, that's my friend.
Sleep with her eyes open.
Oh!
I'll just...
Yeah.
They pop open?
Do they understand me? Maybe...
Drift over to them.
They don't understand me.
What'd they say?
It makes this weird clicking cricket sound.
You hear two other ones like...
Oh shit.
There's a bit of chatter amongst the branches
before it gets quiet and one up front goes.
Oh, what?
Is that communication?
Oh, I...
Can you point?
Can you finger?
Can you point in a direction where there's people?
Just everywhere.
Where's the most people?
Oh, you're just pointing around randomly, aren't you?
Because you don't understand me.
How do I know if you know what I'm saying?
Okay.
What direction did they point?
They pointed everywhere.
Okay, okay. How about which direction? Okay. What direction did they point? They pointed everywhere.
How about which direction?
Which direction is the real crazy sound
that we keep hearing the
Where's that?
Oh, so you do understand.
Okay.
So there's people everywhere.
That thing's that way.
Hmm.
You just understood the sound that you did, though.
Okay, okay.
How about I'll deal with the sound that humans make?
Oh, hi, I'm Scott.
Oh, hey, what's your name? I'm Scott.
Hey, hello, oh.
Where's that sound come from?
He laughs at your face.
I'm slaying it.
I'm here all night.
About four more like.
Oh boy.
They attach to the sides of your head.
Now they're all just like.
They're so cute.
They're cute.
I'm going to disassemble him.
You're cute, man.
Just waiting until enough of them have arrived.
No minas.
How about...
Do some drill bits.
I don't have any food.
I don't eat.
I'm sorry, I can't offer you anything.
I'll just pickpocket off of Chetney
just some food, some dried meats or something.
Does he have any?
He has dried meats, he's a wolf.
Make a hand check with advantage,
because he's asleep.
Uh-huh, that's a four and a six.
You feel something tugging on your belt.
Go back to sleep, you need the rest.
There's these bright purple glows
around the outside of FCG's face
as four of these creatures scatter off, spooked.
What? Sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you.
I just needed some food to offer my new friends.
We weren't supposed to be bartering?
What were you doing?
Shh, go to sleep.
Oh, fuck.
Is this real?
I'll try again to take the meat out of his pocket.
Grab my meat.
Hope he doesn't die.
Slowly, one of them comes back.
Coming up.
The glow scoots in.
If I got any dried meat, I'll offer it to them.
Have a little.
It dips to the ground and has to pick itself back up again.
They're just adorable.
I wish that you guys were up to see this.
And carries it off,
and a few other gather behind it,
and six more look inside the tent, curling around.
They're every time.
This is one of the best.
I wish I could talk to y'all.
Aw.
They're going to wake up,
and he's going to be like Gulliver's Traveled Away.
Dr. Dolittle.
There's the faintest bit of light
beginning to appear in the cloud cover
above in the fog nearby.
Just the early signs of dawn beginning for the new day.
I could try to talk to them.
Tell them about it.
Oh, wait, I can probably do that, too, can't I?
No, I can just detect thoughts.
I can, yeah. I could probably do that, too, can't I? No, I can just detect thoughts. I can, yeah.
I could detect.
I'll detect thoughts and see if I can discern
what their thoughts are.
Okay.
There's, within 30 feet of you,
you immediately detect, of these smaller mines,
probably some neighborhood of about 40 of them
that have gathered on the outside of this tent.
Immediately, just the immediate realization
of that makes you, well,
if you had a sphincter, it'd pucker a little bit.
I can install one.
There you go.
This is something to talk about Dancer with.
Make sure you're O-ring tight.
You just pick one and try and read his thoughts?
Sure, yeah, the one closest to me.
One closest to you that's curling underneath
inside the tent.
I was going to ask if Pussy had a sphincter.
Is that how it works?
Ah!
Sorry.
My fantasy baby.
Mm.
It's a new feature on Pussy the Second.
No! Pussy's got a bottle.
Stop!
Drink this.
It's okay.
Drink this.
That's okay, I'm waiting for the Mach 3.
We'll see what we get.
The nearest one to you,
from what you get,
it's a sense of excitement and curiosity,
as well as protective worry.
Oh.
Protective worry.
Is that one close enough to touch?
It's about three or four feet from you.
You have to move a little bit, but you can get there.
Just reach out my hand.
It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you.
Under your hand.
With touch, I will cast Tongues on it.
Hmm.
Maybe it can talk ifues on it. Hmm.
Maybe it can talk if I do that.
Okay.
Can you talk now?
Can you?
What are you?
Hey!
Do you have food as well?
Oh, I do have food.
Well, yeah, I can go get you some.
I'll go get you some.
Who are you? What's your?
It's only fair you gave so much to him.
I want some food as well.
Sure, sure.
I'll try one more time, just pickpocket Chetney.
Make a loose-legged check.
Natural, two natural 20s?
What?
What is that?
No, that's a four and a natural 20.
Okay.
Snatched without issue.
Okay. Oh, thank you.
I'll give you a little.
What's your name, little fella?
I don't have a name.
Just, mm.
You're me.
Oh.
Well, smiley night to you.
Are you?
What are you? Well, I mean Are you? What are you?
I mean, I guess, are you?
Oh boy, what do I ask this guy?
Ask about the creature.
Ask, yeah.
What the sound is.
Yeah, so that big sound that we keep hearing,
that's a bad thing, right?
There are many sounds.
Which one?
The.
Oh, that's the spray cannon.
The spray cannon. The spray cannon.
Oh, it's like a machine?
It's not a- There are many holes
in this island, and a lot of the water
is just pushed through it,
and it makes a big spray cannon.
Is it dangerous to go in here?
Dangerous to go inside.
Is there a village or anything where people live?
We live in many villages.
Oh, you have villages?
Yes.
Are they in the trees?
Yes, and there is some in the ground,
and there is some in the bushes.
Oh no.
Is there a way that we can come visit one?
We're very nice.
We wouldn't go inside, we would just wait outside.
You are very big and you make a lot of noise.
We don't want to bring the smelly one.
Oh, her?
Hey.
Well, maybe the smelly one's a monster.
What's the smelly one?
Is the smelly one the dead one over here?
Different smelly one. Which one of us is the smelly one?
None of you is smelly one.
Who's the smelly one?
The big one. It smells.
Oh. It smells.
Oh.
Like, it smells bad,
or it has the ability to smell very well?
The dead one.
It smells.
It can smell you.
It can smell you.
It could probably smell us, too.
Probably.
Oh.
Do you do anything?
You're so cute.
Do you do anything to conceal your smell,
or is there any smell that it can't?
Yeah.
It points to it. Is it the rosemary?
No, and you can see the that teal coloration on its body.
It wipes off some of it.
You can see its full body is fuchsia,
but that teal color is something else
that it puts across it.
To mask the smell?
Yes.
Can we find some of that around here in the bushes?
Okay.
Oh, can you take me to it right now?
Maybe. I have to see if it's okay.
Okay, yeah, I'll wait here patiently.
Okay.
You can take the darts off for a bit.
I love you!
Me!
It's just me.
A few moments pass, you hear outside egg.
Pat, don't say anything.
Mm-hmm.
Can I eat one? No, you't say anything. Mm-hmm. Cannot eat one.
No, you cannot eat one.
Okay, I'll ask again later.
Come back.
I don't know if we have enough for the big ones.
I can give you maybe a bit.
Oh, I'll take it, thank you.
Okay.
Thank you so much.
It curls up into your hand.
Oh.
He's not going to shit. And it just
fills your palm with a little bit of teal, warm matter.
Bro, I shit your head!
I shit your hands!
No. I shit your head!
Why do things keep shitting on me?
It's a little teal.
It's a teal shit?
Yeah.
Oh!
I'm living the dream.
I like that he went and got permission
to shit in your hand.
I got to make sure I have enough.
Well, maybe that means other ones could shit in our hands.
That just means we have to cover ourselves
with our shits.
Thank you so much.
But his size is just like this.
Are there any, your village,
we don't want to disturb your village
or make a ruckus or draw attention to you.
You're so sweet.
Are there any villages or structures or buildings
that are slightly more our size that we could go visit?
Not here, no.
Do you know where?
No, there is no bigger villages.
On the whole island?
No.
Oh.
Are there any people who live here anywhere?
Like, not in a village, but in a hut?
There is a tortoise.
I'm sorry?
Tortoise.
Tortoise? Oh, a torto sorry? Tortoise. Tortoise?
Oh, a tortoise.
Tortoise.
Toreezz?
Tortoise.
I think we learned that we wrote that tortoise.
We have that written down. I did, too.
I wrote the word tortoise, but nothing after it.
Is that Joanna?
Jorana?
Tortoise is the protector.
Oh, where is they?
Tortoise comes when there's big lights or big sounds to save you in trouble.
Oh, but that might draw the attention
of the one who smells, right?
Maybe, but sometimes helps save us from one who smells.
Oh. Taurus was Keyleth's friend.
Oh, I thought that was Jorana.
Taurus is somebody else they've killed?
Is there any particular color of light
that will draw Taurus to us?
Big fire.
You hear all these other creatures,
all the voices out there,
this big echo of many, many voices,
as soon as you say fire,
and gets this look in its eyes like,
Oh, you guys are pyros.
All righty. Oh, they're going to love you.
Can you make a big fire?
Oh yes, we can make big fire.
I can't myself, but my friends can.
You hear all this chatter
and this seeming jovial.
You promise to make us a very big fire? You want us to make you a big fire?
Yeah.
When these guys wake up,
we'll get one going, for sure.
Is there anything else that you guys like to eat
or need for your village?
Always enjoy food.
Okay.
Well, oh man, this is so great.
None of you have names?
We know each other by the smells.
Oh, that's so sweet.
Well, my name's Fresh Cut Grass,
and I was named after a sweet smell that my friend knew.
Oh.
That's very nice.
You're also thought of as smells.
Oh, wow.
I guess we're sort of like kin, then.
I think I'm going to wake up my friends
so they can meet you, too.
Don't be shocked if they're a little scared
when they wake up and see all your friends around us.
Are they safe?
Oh, very safe, but maybe just everybody
take ten steps back.
We all gather out the outside and stop.
Okay, is it time to wake up these fellows?
Has it been a long rest for them?
I'll say, yeah, it's been a communal long rest at this point.
I will gently wake some of them up.
Maybe Orym first.
Not Chetney.
Oh god.
What happened?
Is he dead?
Oh.
Why are you getting so close?
98.
Whoa!
It's okay.
I don't like this.
I wake up with, like with one sore on my face.
Yeah!
Oh no!
Who made toast?
Who's the painter?
Orym, we got company.
At what time is it? It's good.
Orym rolls over and he just starts doing pushups.
No, not yet.
Just hold off on the morning workout.
We got friends.
We got friends.
It coasts over and latches onto your chest.
One of these creatures looks up at you.
When did this happen?
Ah, let me see how long the spell lasts.
I'll tell you how long it's been.
One hour. I better cast it again.
I mean, you've been talking for like 20 minutes now.
We'll see.
I don't know, that's up to Matt.
See if the tail end of it can continue on.
Okay.
Yeah, and I'll gently wake up everybody
and just warn them what's going on,
and not to make any sudden sounds or smells.
Chetney, no farting.
Oh wait, did you wake us all up?
They probably are used to the smell of poop.
That's true.
Hey, everybody, meet me and Mii's friends.
Come on.
Oh.
Mii's.
The Mii's, the mini Mii's.
Do you think I'm going to move to this place?
They all start fluttering in en masse
until they fill the insides of the tent.
There's the bursts of blue light as they swarm in They all start fluttering in en masse until they fill the insides of the tent.
There's the bursts of blue light as they swarm in
and then it all goes to a darkness
before they all come in. I don't think so.
They're really nice.
I only speak to one of them and that's this guy, me.
But there would be many of us have come to say hello.
I hold out my hand.
Four of them. have come to say hello. I hold out my hand. Fjord, I'm like.
Oh!
Oh, you all can understand him, too, yeah.
No, we can't. Oh, we can't?
Yeah, he can speak, and I gave him the power, so yes.
He can speak to all of us and understand what we say, yes.
Oh, wow. Oh boy.
Hello. Hi, mate.
Hello.
Friends of this one? Yeah. We're friends. Hello. Hello. Hi, mate. Hello. Friends of this one?
Yeah, we're friends.
Yeah.
I'm going to telepathically speak
to the one in my hand.
Can you understand me?
What's that?
It should be able to.
I can communicate with one person.
It just seems very confused by feeling a voice.
It's like. Oh yeah, I'm in your head.
His head just goes.
Yeah.
Last thing you heard.
Yeah!
I'm in your head.
Roll initiative.
You've got a ton of poo there now.
You have so much lavender poo in your head.
Can you hurry me up?
You forgot full of terror.
Too much, too much.
Oh boy.
It seems like it understands you.
FCG, this is either a great idea or a terrible idea.
I can't believe you did this,
and maybe you're brilliant, or maybe this is terrible.
They gave me some information.
We need to make a big fire to call Taurus here.
Oh, that was Keyleth's friend.
Yes, the one who protects, right?
Yes.
Does this person protect them from us?
Protect them from the one who smells.
The one who smells.
The serpent creature that you all said that you saw.
Protects us from all things that would be dangerous.
Does the serpent creature have a giant foot?
The smelly one have a really, really big foot,
bigger than our feet.
It's very big foot, yes.
Okay, bigger than ours.
Bigger than your feet, yes.
And it flies.
Oh, sorry.
No, it crawls, many legs.
Okay. Big nose.
Okay. Smelly.
Basement, does it have fur?
Sort of.
I think it's very good look.
It's running away very fast.
Oh.
What?
Running away very fast.
Oh, yeah. Very fast, very fast.
Lots of legs?
I think so.
Its colors change.
The colors change.
Is it as tall is the trees?
No, some trees, small trees.
I can see how this is going to be very confusing.
Yeah.
And the fire will not attract that creature?
I don't know.
Why do they want a fire?
Because it attracts Taurus, and that's who we want to see.
Why does it attract Taurus?
Because Taurus can see it.
Me also said a big light would attract Taurus,
so it doesn't necessarily have to be fire.
I just assume that that's the only big thing.
You promised a fire.
Oh, they like fire.
You like a sweet fire.
Is there a safe place to start a fire
where we won't hit any of y'all?
Or your villages, because we can't,
we don't know where they are. On the rocks.
On the rocks. Will you take us?
We show you. Yes.
We show you. Oh boy.
Yeah, now's a good enough time to get up, if there's any.
No, this is happening.
You mentioned the whooshy sound.
Did it tell you? That's harmless.
We weren't scared for nothing.
We're fine, it's just a geyser thing.
It's like water that shoots up between the walls.
Geyser thing. I knew it.
Oh, okay.
Wrecker hole.
Yeah. It's fine.
Why do I feel hungover?
All the creatures scatter off.
The blue lights are gathered outside
and swirling around, almost in a waiting state.
Okay.
Let's go, you lead, we'll follow.
Anyone?
Come on!
We're going to make a fire!
Oh boy.
It takes off and a bunch of them just gather.
Now at this point, you can see there was the 40
that you felt. As they vanish,
there's like 100-plus that descend out of nearby branches
that have just all gathered at the newcomers.
They all swirl partially around you as you begin to move,
and some keeping a boundary of curiosity
coming up to you, looking at you,
then darting off again and keeping circles.
This cloud of light accompanies you
as you begin to move through the forest.
In your head, you hear Orym.
You're a little worried they're going to just
push us right off the cliff.
Oh, I wasn't.
I will, tip of the spear, follow along behind me.
All right.
As the dawn light curls from that dull, faint bit of navy
into a softer blue, still diffused
through the extremely thick mist and fog
that swallows this island,
you follow this
technicolor swarm of blues that shifts with the color refraction
of the rising sunlight
until you climb around the outskirts
of this particular part of the forest
and then up one portion of this partially moss-covered,
heavy volcanic rock hill, leading you across it.
This one's a little harder to climb across,
but the moss bits do make for softer footfalls.
As you follow suit, they circle back
and make sure that you're following,
and you still hear those
heavy sounds getting louder.
Not directly in the direction you're traveling,
but they're somewhat taking you towards the vicinity
of where that sound was coming from.
And still perpetual fog?
It is at the moment, yeah.
The further you travel with them,
that sound, that gets a little bit more and more recurring,
like the tide is shifting in a way
that whatever splashing subterranean water tunnel
that's being forced through is much more present.
And that smell of sea spray is getting more prominent here,
though you're not quite near the coast.
And as you begin to move up towards the peak
of this current volcanic hill.
You can see there's a bit of a 60-foot plateau
at the top of it.
And up here, you can see there are
old weathered remnants of a campsite,
a tent that has been long retaken
and fallen apart as nature has consumed it.
You can see bits of splintered, once worked wood.
You can see charcoal marks
where once maybe a campfire had set.
You're not quite sure how old at a glance it may have been,
but it looks like this was an area
where someone set camp at some point in the past.
I'll bite. I want to try to get a sense of who they were or how long ago.
Make an investigation check.
I'll join, especially that wood.
Not my forte. Just a big old nine.
Big old nine.
24, and I'll again use that grim psychometry on the wood specifically.
As you close your eyes and focus on this space,
that shadow behind the closing of your lids
suddenly is interrupted with a splash of crimson.
You hear screams and you see the shadows
of bearded men shouting, fleeing,
the fear itself.
The scent is almost caught in your nose
as they throw each other to the side
to keep themselves alive.
Brotherhood non-existent as they run in the darkness,
the bit of their campfire
slightly dwindling in the background.
You watch as the flame crackles and moves,
and then it changes color
as a massive beast moves through the shadow.
You hear a low, guttural growl,
and what looks almost like a flower of bright pink color
seems to apparate out of nowhere behind a figure.
As it raises, you see glistening wet teeth beneath it
as a jaw opens.
One final scream, another splash of crimson,
and then you're pulled back and you just look around
and you can see this is what little bit remains
of whoever decided to set up here.
I feel like I'm working real hard
to interpret everything that's happening as okay.
That does not make me happy.
This just feels like a bad idea, top to bottom.
What does?
All of this, we are, I don't know,
I feel like I'm leaning into an awful lot of interpretation
with the things that are being told to us.
Trying real hard to trust, but this feels bad.
Well, we're here looking for Titan influence.
This is your chance to get in touch with your roots.
It's a raw land.
Yeah.
It's untamed, unbridled.
I feel like they tamed it pretty good.
And one of them flies over towards you
and lands on your shoulder.
Is tamed still cast?
I can cast it again if it's run out.
It's been an hour.
You've traveled for quite a bit. Is the one on me me?
Best you can tell.
Okay, I'll cast Tongues on him again.
So now you make the fire?
I believe so.
Would you all like to make the fire and summon Taurus?
I would like to do it and then take some cover.
Yeah, should we hide after we make the fire, me?
Might be a good idea, because you know,
if Torres is the protectors of the land,
and then we look like people who are here to
destroy the land, then maybe that backfire.
We have to let Torres know that we're from Keyleth, that Keyleth sent us.
Because if I were Protector,
I'd be protecting them from us.
100%.
Because, again, leaning real hard
into the best interpretation of these events.
What if we paint ourselves blue?
I love your optimism.
What?
I don't know, just try to do,
you know, mesh with the locals.
Get in touch with their culture.
Hello, Molly.
Me? Is that weird?
I don't know, do we have blue paint?
We have a little bit.
Oh.
You got little blue streaks on you.
How did you get that?
That's just a friendly...
They conceal their smell by pooping on themselves
and smearing it all. Pooping?
Pooping on themselves
and smearing it all over their bodies.
So they granted me a little bit of poop.
Well, there's a lot of them. They could poop on us.
That's what I suggested.
They didn't think that maybe they'd need
a lot of fiber first, I don't know.
I mean, could everyone poop on us?
That's so fucking gross.
I won't be taken out of context or
sample the use for anything.
Do you think that you group of...
I love playing this game.
We used to be wary a few years ago.
Well, yeah, they can fly.
Worried about that exact thing, and then just, no.
Will you poop on us?
I think you're right.
They could fly over us and just sort of
just rain down. Do a drive-by pooping.
Not anymore. Drive-by pooping.
I just have a question.
Can you understand me?
You want to rain from me?
Rain?
Rain from me?
Yes. I do.
I would like it. Bring the monsoon.
I would like it.
Rain. From. Me.
Rain from me.
Rain!
Wait, how, just doing my due diligence here,
how do we know?
Duty diligence?
My duty, my double-d due diligence.
How do we know you're not bringing us here
to just give us to this creature?
Oh yeah, you sacrifice.
You're not working or with this creature?
You just want to see the fire.
You just want to see the fire.
Inside check.
Yeah.
Inside check that fucking tiny ass thing alive. They're sweet little guys. Yeah. I trust him. Inside check that fucking tiny ass thing alive.
They're sweet little guys.
20.
Ooh, a Whisper!
I don't have anything to...
This is not for, I'm not supposed to do it.
Don't do it if you have to.
They told me not to do it for this.
What else can we talk about?
Candela. Candela, yes.
Check for two.
Is it out?
Yes. And now comes out. He was inside of a horse. Heela. Check for two. Is it out? Yes.
Yes?
It now comes out.
It windows on Monday now.
Oh.
It comes out on Mondays?
Comes out on Mondays now.
Yeah.
It's better.
A lot.
Monday, the scariest day.
I like fire.
I think they just like fire, too.
Yeah.
Why don't we spread out and give our first room?
Mister can do that, right? I can. Yeah, we can do this. just like fire. I do. Yeah. Why don't we spread out and get one for some wood? Mister can do that, right?
Let's get some fire.
Yeah, we can do this. Let's really get some fire.
Let's get some wood, and Mister's a good idea.
You want to see something?
Why, yeah.
Don't be scared.
Oh, wait.
Mister, Mister.
Oh, ho!
All of them scatter out a bit.
Oh no. It's okay, it's okay.
Are they going to shit on us?
If we ask them to, maybe.
Is that weird?
To have them poop on us?
What isn't weird at this point?
Wait, I don't understand why they're pooping on us.
You didn't tell us.
The poop conceals the smell.
The big creature that's out there can smell really well,
and the poop conceals the smell so that one can't smell us.
I don't want the big, stinky... It's poop-a-flage.
But the ratio of poop to body size is a bit off.
Yeah, but every little counts, every little helps.
We want some poop freckles.
I mean, there's hundreds of them.
If we got pooped on by all of them,
just like if they had nice and dirty hands.
Yeah, I bet it would be enough.
Yeah, and I can't... Here, smell of them. Just like if they had actually got it. Yeah, I bet it was enough. Yeah, and I can't, you know, here, smell my hands.
Just hundreds of.
What do they smell like?
I mean, they smell like lavender and hay or something.
No, it does smell like lavender.
That faint bit of lavender smell.
That moss that you were chewing on earlier?
Oh, good. Yeah.
Yeah, maybe if we could put it on our hot spots.
Yeah, the pits and the bits.
The pits and the bits.
Well, let's line up then. Let's get this.
All right.
Maybe we've already started.
So the transaction is fire for a shit show.
Yeah.
You know what? Just to make it spread around more,
I don't think you need to poop on me
because I don't give off an odor.
Do I? Do I give off an odor?
You smell like oil a little bit.
Oh, okay, then poop on me.
Yeah, shut right now.
Wait, so they know what they're getting,
and I'll take the chisel and run it up my thigh.
And I'll light up a produce flame.
Okay, as soon as you both produce flame,
all the ones that were spooked zoom in
and you watch as the one that you were talking to
just stares into the flame.
Let's go, let's go, let's go.
I love it.
There, they want him.
All right. You want to touch it?
No, this is a good one.
It's going to kill him.
No, just a little poke.
Wait, is he completely unresponsive?
Has he kind of talked? Where'd he go?
Me?
Oh no.
Kill it, kill it, kill it.
Oh, all right.
You know, bring it back.
Oh no!
Well, well, well, you just disappeared.
Oh my god. Just so you know,
this is what's going to happen,
but I think you guys need to do a shit.
Oh right, okay.
Shit bath. Shit shower. Shit shower.
Oh god. Okay.
And runs around and is said,
well, you hear it because he's translated
to all of you in his language, goes like,
I just said,
The arrivals require a rain party.
Oh my god.
It has a name.
Get together, get together, get together.
We bunch up. Get together, yeah.
Like we're in county.
Here, as the orange and purple hues of the morning light diffuse through the beautiful mists here,
the beautiful islands of the Shattered Teeth, you all stand at the top of this volcanic hillscape,
looking up into the sky, clutching each other
as a swirling storm of beautiful, glowing, blue,
pixie-like reptile creatures swirl around you.
Hundreds of them begin to gather and turn and spin.
It is this incredible, beautiful array
of strange alien nature.
No, Marissa! Moving as one.
And as they curl across.
That's a lot!
I'm going to fall to my knees like Shawshank Redemption.
It's Zoolander in the gas station.
Yes, yes.
You don't even have knees.
Yeah.
Oh yeah?
Oh, you have to.
Sometimes I think I should have let
that bedroom set kill you all.
It's in my eye.
Oh god. It's in my eye.
It does sting.
It's a brief deluge, but enough for a topical layer.
No, please, it's here.
They all eventually come back down.
You can see a bunch of them flying like.
Oh, they deserve some wave.
Give them some strength.
They all immediately,
Should we set the tent on fire, maybe?
We can just quickly gather some kindling and stuff.
We left the tent.
Oh, we left the tent?
Yeah, we're way down near the rocks.
So that you're not holding the fire, let's put it.
But we can gather some wood
and also I'll make some shavings.
So we can walk away from it.
Yeah, you'll make a center.
I can use whole flames, too, so I'll make it.
You can make it big?
Yeah, I'll make it big as soon as you start it.
I'll go start gathering some kindling.
I'm sure there's no, is there dry or dead wood around?
Make a perception or investigation check.
Yeah, I'll do it.
Or survival as well, actually.
I'll do it.
That's because I'm gathering materials, too.
I feel like it's time for you to practice.
Oh my goodness, it's been so long
since we've had a lesson. It's been so long,
and I really think this could be your moment.
All right.
Just focus and we can all make
just a really big fire. She was teaching me fire.
Oh, cool. Yes.
Powerful.
Very VV powerful over here.
But we need to back these pixies up
so that they don't get exploded.
22 for investigation.
And you can help control, right?
Yeah, I can try to control the flames when you do this
so it doesn't get too out of hand for the little fairies.
While you're having this conversation,
there's no driftwood that comes this high up in the area,
and you're not quite near enough to the cliff.
It looks like nothing's been carried here.
However, you do recall seeing a lot of drier,
dead, fallen trees and nearby brush
on the journey here, and you know
what wood catches well. I do.
Because you avoid using them in children's stories.
Termite-laden.
I'll go pry some off and then also run some strips.
Yeah, gather some things.
Carry a bunch of shit for you.
Beautiful.
And we're all smeared teal at this point?
Yeah, you have.
Freckles.
Jackson Pollocked.
Yeah, kind of.
Jackson Pollicked now.
Foolicked.
I'm trying to.
That was not my best. It was not my best.
It wasn't bad, it wasn't bad.
We got shit freckled.
Within a short time, you have a pretty decent basis
for a pyre set up here at the top of this hill.
You do also note that as the morning catches,
the fog begins to pull back a little bit.
The thickness of it seems to be at its strongest
in the latter, as the night begins to come in
and as the night begins to leave.
It never entirely burns off,
but you watch as the perimeter
of where it begins to choke off your vision
at its strongest expands out a few more hundred feet,
where you can actually make out a lot more
of the landscape around you.
Let's build this fucking fire.
It's still enough to mask other islands, right?
Yeah, you still can't see beyond the edge of the island.
All right.
Shall we? Yeah.
See what you kids can do.
All right, you ready?
I'm ready, man.
This is going to get big, y'all.
Maybe.
We give 20, 40 feet of space from the fire.
Set out a perimeter, make sure no one's there.
The now close to maybe 300 or so
of these flying creatures that have all gathered
around the outskirts of where you've built this pyre,
and they're all chittering excitedly around them
as they gather for the show that's about to start.
We make fire protection rings
outside of the front of the people in the water.
Valid. Stay back!
All right, you ready? Feel free to critique my form. Okay. Valid. Stay back! All right, you ready?
Feel free to critique my form.
Okay, I think we should just let you go, Ham.
Okay.
And just see how you feel.
And I'll shoot some flame as well.
Okay.
Okay, this is going to be fun.
And I create this little bead of fire in the center of my palm. You can see a thread. I'm puppeteering
this little ball of flame. I'm going to take it, and as it expands, just shoot it outward into a
fireball.
This massive explosion hits all of the wood
that you've gathered and all the materials
that you placed here immediately catch flame
as a massive pyre of bright orange roaring flame just.
That was amazing.
That was amazing.
That was good.
Yes, yes.
Oh my goodness.
You see the black smoke billowing up into a pillar
that rises up and mingles with the mist that surrounds you.
I'm going to try to control it and make it swirl.
It's a beautiful display, and the flames themselves are curling up 25 feet or so at the very
tips of it. You're not sure how long it'll burn at that intensity, but definitely the initial spark
and the initial burst of flame, it is a sight to behold here.
I'll keep shooting Scorching Rays when it starts to go down a little bit. Orym, nice!
I was about to say, Orym's going to flea hop up a tree
to get a higher vantage point,
and just look to see what's changing.
You'll have to travel quite a bit to get to a tree
because this volcanic part of the hill is pretty clear.
All right, well then I'll just do it from right here.
Doing a slow circle.
Perception checks for both of you.
I'm just going to take any little sparks flying off.
I'm going to make it look like
those little pixie blizzard creatures
flying around it, like flame dancing around it.
You got it, that's cool.
That's pretty cool.
Oh yeah. 26.
26.
Oh, nine's great.
11. Okay.
The first thing you notice is the beautiful ring
of flying
pixie-like creatures are all just locked in place,
just completely immersed in this flame,
just silently, just glancing in the air.
They are enchanted by this experience.
As you keep watch and look out there.
Temple bird.
Mm-hmm.
I have three hours of blood.
You don't hear anything,
but you see not far from where Chetney
is looking out into the fog.
You swear you see what looks like
part of the volcanic rock begin to move.
Uh-oh.
That's a thing that can change color, I bet.
They're doing hand stuff.
Steel third?
Back and up.
They're doing weird hand stuff.
I mean...
Something.
We're here, okay.
Jutney, you just barely hear,
maybe 10 feet behind you,
what sounds like scraping across jagged stone.
You glance over and you see this
hulking, multi-legged form
that is of the same color and texture
of the surrounding volcanic rock.
It's like a part of the hillside came alive
and is now a multi-legged,
almost serpent-like creature
that is like a massive Komodo dragon
made of volcanic rock that is like
and you watch as it's coming towards your direction,
but a little bit to the right,
to the front of its pointed snout,
there is this five-pointed star of skin
that has a pinkish-red color that you recall
from the vision that you had.
Familiar.
Ah!
Do you make a sound?
Yeah. Ah!
The creature
shoots over your direction.
You watch as some of the coloration,
that texture and dark coloration,
fades from the front of its face.
Instead, you see pale white,
almost bloodless-colored skin
with slight stripes of a deep burgundy
that curl under the throat.
It almost looks like some lizard or mole-like creature.
You do not see eyes upon its head.
There is just this massive jaw of teeth
that open and slobber,
and this massive nose-like star at
the end of its mouth that just like.
Make a stealth check for me.
I built for this, so.
Come on.
Don't squeeze one out right now, Chet.
Who?
21.
Ooh.
Eh.
Oh, wait, probably is really good.
Yeah, there's a big-ass star on his face.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, we just want to poop.
He's very smart. And we're going to want to poop. It is very smelly.
And we're going to go to break.
Oh!
I thought we were clear!
Oh, damn it!
What do we do?
I hope Torres comes and saves us!
We did exactly what they told us to do.
We knew it!
You made my chest hurt!
They're afraid of them, too.
Yeah.
Oh yeah, how was your mild heart attack, by the way,
that Chetney had in his sleep?
Ah!
Oh, yeah.
I don't think that they connect
any of the things that happened.
I think that this was just, yeah.
I don't think this was malicious.
I think it was just, yeah, I think it's like a five-year-old.
I love them so much.
They're great. Boy, they're, yeah.
Well, we'll see what happens when we come back here.
We'll see you after the break.
Save us.
Thank you for listening to the Critical Role Podcast Network.
This is Marisha Ray, Critical Role's resident creative director,

We take the last Thursday of every month off
from our typical Campaign 3 adventures.
Some months we'll enjoy a short rest, and others we'll air a one-shot or just try something new.
Since this here podcast feed is on a one-week delay from our initial broadcasts,
that means the first Thursday of the month may look a little different around here.
To stay up to date on our latest programming happenings and when our shows will air on Twitch, YouTube,
and here on the Critical Role Podcast
Network, check out our weekly programming
schedule published to CritRole.com
every Monday at 10 a.m. Pacific.
And now that you're sufficiently
reminded, let's get back to the show.
And welcome back.
So,
as the entity sniffs around the outskirts
Oh shit, that's right.
of this volcanic hilltop.
We didn't think about this at all.
It lunged at you.
Frozen in place, it lunges at you and?
It's cocked.
Oh, it's a natural 20. It's a natural 20.
Hey!
Why are you cheering?
Did you get bored?
I'm excited.
Cool.
Well, it critically bites you.
180 points of damage.
And you are now grappled.
Probably.
You take.
At least we can see it now.
That's because you rolled a 98 today.
Probably.
That's not just Harper.
62 points of piercing damage.
As its jaws
snap around you, and it tries to pull you into its jaws.
You just barely squeeze out and land back on your knees,
pain rocking your body as the teeth drag across your body
as you manage to pull yourself free.
Do we all see this happen?
You see this happening, and all of you hear
this skittering snap sound and the cry of Chetney,
and now see this entity slunk through the nearby mist.
I need everyone to roll initiative.
Oh shit!
This combat is brought to you by WizKids Minis.

I was a little further. I was definitely halfway to Orym.
Halfway to Orym over here?
Yeah, there.
I would have just naturally been really far away from the creature.
The witches were dealing with fire.
If there's a particular place they want to be,
they can tell me. I was nervous as fuck.
I think the witches were next to each other.
Yeah.
Or at least triangulated, maybe.
Yeah.
Like this?
You know.
Or maybe like, yeah.
Yeah, maybe lodged in between.
Oh shit, there's the creature.
Okay, okay.
And there's the creature. All right. Oh, he's a cutie pie. Hmm, maybe Laudna in between. Oh shit, there's the creature. Okay, okay. And there's the creature.
All right. Oh, he's a cutie pie.
Just a cutie.
To that point. Giant clog.
25 to 20.
Oh, 20. 15.
18. 18.
Who goes first, then?
19. 19.
Laudna and Chet, what's your deck? No, Imogen.
Imogen. Sorry, Imogen. You rolled an 18, right?et, what's your deck? No, Imogen. Imogen.
Sorry, Imogen.
You rolled an 18, right?
I think your deck's, well, my deck's is pretty high,
but it's probably yours is higher.
Two, no?
Mine is a plus two as well.
Rollies! Rollies!
Rollies! Let's do it.
The game that's sweeping the nation.
Three!
Rollies!
17.
How are we going to beat it?
It's the game that's sweeping the nature.
15 to 10.
Form, image, and chip.
Wait, what'd you say?
15 to 10.
Oh no.
10 to five.
Wow.
Nine.
Eight.
Wait, roll a lease.
Five.
Wait, wait, wait.
We should, oh.
My dex, what's your dex?
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter, roll a lease is more fun.
I got 12.
I got two.
Okay. So wait, so FCG, Laudna, me.
And what do you roll?
Eight. Okay.
Ashton's eight.
Five, I rolled. Oh wow, okay.
All righty. Five total.
Wow. Yeah.
Well, we were busy.
We were busy.
All right.
We were busy. We were fired.
Given the fact that you already had sight on this creature
and you tried to give a warning from a distance,
not calling its attention,
you see this creature just completely swallow,
for a brief moment, Chetney,
before Chetney fights his way out to the ground,
covered in his own gore.
Oh god. What do you do?
So Chetney just got absolutely wrecked, right?
Almost.
Okay. Pretty rough.
I shout out Chetney's name
and I just run off the edge and leap.
I'll make a, I will roll, tuck and roll and keep running.
That's 30 right there.
Go ahead and make an acrobatics check for me
to make sure you can tumble into it and keep going.
That is an 11.
11.
You don't fall prone, but you do hit
and tumble hard on one shoulder,
and you do take, oh man, double sixes.
12 points of bludgeoning damage as you
hit the ground. You get back on your feet still,
but you took a hard hit to the shoulder in the process.
Okay, that was my movement.
For my action, I will continue to run
straight towards Chet.
Okay.
20, 25, 25, 30?
And then, yeah, yeah, 30.
And then I will,
not done.
Hold on one second, sorry.
You know what? Yeah. Sure, why not?
Oh, nice.
It is misty this day.
It's always misty.
Isn't it, though?
It's misty now.
I will bonus action
thrust seedling out towards
that creature's outstretched claw.
Okay.
And use it to ensnare, well, just stick to its hand
and pull myself right up to its face.
Okay.
We'll see.
Yeah.
That makes a dexterity save, right?
It does.
Nice. That is going toxterity save, right? It does. Nice.
That is going to be a 10.
Fails.
All righty.
So that, I'm going to, instead of trying to pull it to me,
I'm just going to let it, since I'm so much smaller,
get pulled to it.
All right.
And I'm going to kick off of its snout
as I crash into it and then land down
between Chet and it,
and push and use bait and switch,
which doesn't use any action economy bonus actions,
not listed.
I will give Chet
an additional five AC to the start of my next turn.
Ooh, you're good.
And shove my shield up in this thing's weird-looking nose.
You got it. Done.
Okay, finishing Orym's go,
that brings us to Imogen with Chetney on deck.
Okay.
Yeah. Yep.
One second, let me just check to see what.
Don't roll that d100 again.
Okay.
I'm just going to move my hands
and on the rock over here,
a little bit over here, yeah,
a little tear is going to open up
and a Rylorne is going to step through.
Ooh!
Let's go!
All right. See, I get excited
for the bad stuff.
Right over here?
Yes.
I'm summoning Hexmind.
Got it.
Whatever that is.
Do they get an immediate?
At the end of your turn.
Okay, great.
So there's that, and then...
You watch as tearing out of this small,
red glowing rift across the battlefield,
a thin, lanky Ryloren pulls out snot,
similar to the one you previously saw in the chamber
where you were talking with Keyleth.
And I am going to...
Did you get a smelly hair oil or something?
Quicken spell? I'm going to Quicken a spell. Okay, go for it. Do you get a gross, smelly hair oil or something?
I'm going to Quicken a spell.
Okay, go for it.
Um, that's like 60 feet, though.
It's more than 120 feet from me to the creature, isn't it?
To the creature?
That is 85 feet.
So no, it's about 90 feet from you.
Great.
Well, let me see.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Can you double sorcery points?
Can I quicken a spell and distant a spell
on the same turn?
If you have enough sorcery points for it.
Okay, great.
Great, then I'm going to do that.
Use those sorcery points.
You can also, if you're feeling well,
what are you casting again?
One second. Yeah, no, no.
I'm going to Quicken a spell
and I'm going to cast Mind Sliver on the creature.
So it's an intelligence save.
Intelligence save, got it.
That's going to be a 12.
Then it fails, and it takes 2d6.
That's 11 points of psychic damage.
All righty.
Let's see.
The target must exceed on intelligent saving throw
and subtract 1d4 from the next saving throw it makes
before the end of my next turn.
Got you.
So the next save it has to make is minus 1d4.
Yes.
Good to know.
And now the Rylorian gets to go.
All right.
And that is going to do...
It's going to do a Mind Spike.
All righty.
Which is 1d8 plus three plus the spell's level
psychic damage.
Okay, so does it?
I had spell attack hit, okay.
Yeah, so you roll for attack.
That's with my modifier?
Yes.
Whatever the modifier is for the-
So 20.
20, that hits.
Okay.
So, 98.
Oh.
It has nine points of psychic damage.
Nine points of psychic damage to it?
Does it get more than one attack?
If you look at the top of the creature elements
under its attacks, it might say multi-attack.
Multi-attack, yes, so it does it again.
Does it twice, yes.
Sweet.
Ah, that was that 14.
Probably doesn't hit. 14, unfortunately,
doesn't hit. Okay.
All right, so finish your turn,
and then we're on Laurence's turn.
You got it, all right, finishing Imogen. Chet, you're't. Okay. All right, so finish your turn. And then we're on Lauren's turn. You got it, all right, finishing Imogen.
Chet, you're up.
Yeah.
Oh my fucking god!
It's all internal monologue,
because I'm just shuddering in shock and fucking pain.
And I'll wipe some of the blood
out of my gaping chest wounds
and I'll flick a Curse of Bloated Agony
at the creature within 30 feet as a bonus action.
It seeps into its pale exterior skin,
leaving these black marks where the blood spatters hit.
Amazing, and I will use my action
and my speed
to go 70 feet back towards the Ryloren.
Okay.
I'll try and get up on that rock behind it,
going like, oh my god.
Yep, easy enough to do.
And that's my turn.
All right, finishing your go.
It is now the creature's turn.
Oh no.
Okay.
The creature that sensed the arrival
and the direction of where you were previously
is going to lash out at where it thinks you still are
to try and finish the job, but Orym is there instead.
So it's going to go ahead and
one bite and two claw attacks against you.
That's a lot.
Your attack's going to be 16 to hit.
It glances off the shield as it snaps out,
but as the jaw moves by,
you look right as one of its claws is now
scratching out towards you as it deflects off of that.
That's going to be an 18 to hit.
Miss.
Misses. You just duck out of the way,
getting the shield low, and it scrapes the claws
across the metal, leaving sparks for a second
as it pushes you almost to the ground,
your leg almost buckling from the weight
as it pushes onto your shield,
and its back, let's say secondary leg on that side,
is going to claw upward from underneath
to try and knock the shield over
like it's walking past you.
That's going to be 20 to hit.
That hits.
Okay, so you get one hit.
That will be...
22 points of slashing damage.
In doing so, it pushes past you a bit over here.
Doesn't quite leave the range, but it's like
and it's smelling loud in the air
and it can smell the smoke
and it seems like it's picking up the scent of just you.
It doesn't seem to be picking up anybody else.
Just a question for Blood Curse.
It says it takes 1d8 necrotic damage
if it makes more than one attack during its turn.
Which it did, so it takes 1d8 necrotic damage.
Even if they miss, it takes it?
Yeah, it's still taking the attacks.
Yep.
I don't want to do it.
That's cool.
One.
Five, five points of necrotic damage.
All right.
All righty, that finishes its go.
FCG, you're up with Laudna on deck.
Shit, I didn't plan anything.
I will.
I ran.
You ran.
I ran, so I can come over and try to heal Chet.
Feels like this thing needs to be within range of us
to attack us, so I'm going to cast
Compulsion on it. It seems like this thing needs to be within range of us to attack us, so I'm going to cast
Compulsion on it.
I'm trying to compel it to move elsewhere. All righty. Nice.
That is a wisdom save?
It is a wisdom 15 save.
All right.
That is going to be a 14 exactly.
Hey! It just fails.
Okay, I don't want it to go towards Chetney.
Sorry, and I don't want it to go near anyone.
So I'm going to point it towards,
I compel it to move towards between those two rocks
where on this side of the board.
On this side? Yes.
And it does,
Compelled.
When it moves there, which is on its turn now, probably on its turn.
Yeah, each effect must use its movement
as possible to move in that direction on its next turn.
So yeah.
So it doesn't move right now,
but next turn it will move that direction.
Got it.
And it'll trigger
an attack of opportunity once it does.
True.
It can still take its action before it moves.
That's true. Shit.
All right, great.
But I can move it around wherever I want to move it.
Yep. All right.
And then I'll get out of here by moving towards Chetney.
All right, full move?
Yes, please.
There you go.
Just cruising across the rocks.
I think that's all I can do.
All righty.
Laudna, you're up. Ashton, you're on deck.
All right.
First and foremost, I'm going to bonus action Hex it.
It's a 90-foot.
90 feet?
Spell?
Yeah, you can definitely hit it with a 90 feet.
Okay.
Hexed.
Going.
And then. Jeez. Okay. Going. And then.
Jeez.
Okay. The hands are terrible.
Can I just move and get behind this rock situation?
You can.
Two, three, four, five, six.
Yeah, so let's see.
Five, six.
You can have three-quarter cover behind there
and still be able to see it.
Damn it.
Okay, great.
I'll have to wait and do this next turn.
I'm going to send Pâté over.
Pâté flies over.
I'm going to be like,
What's his flying speed?
40 feet.
40 feet? He should make it.
Well, if he's back here with you
and then moves with you.
That's Imogen.
No, Laudna was there.
So it'd be like 40 feet, we'll get him to about there.
Where's all of our Mii friends?
Yeah, what are they doing?
They're just up here, currently.
Are they still just watching the fire,
or are they taking in the attack that's happening?
Can we tell? At the moment, you see most of them are still staring watching the fire or are they taking in the attack that's happening? Can we tell?
At the moment, you see most of them
are still staring at the fire,
but all the ones that are over in this area
are now starting to scatter.
Okay.
Run, me friends, run!
Or fly.
Fly.
Are we on a cliff face?
No, you're on a plateau hilltop.
Okay. Okay, okay.
Well, FCG is compelling him, so I don't want to do anything to mess that up.
So I'm just going to pump some Eldritch Blast.
If he gets hit, does that compel him?
I don't think so. No, it just works.
I don't think there's a save to it.
I wouldn't want to hit him anyway.
Is that, yeah, tell me.
No, he's just mine now.
He's just mine now.
I tell him where to move for the next minute.
Oh shit, oh.
I can have him move to Ashton.
Or into the fire.
Well, then I might as well.
I can't have him move into the fire,
but maybe I should have him move to you.
I will next room now.
Because you can hit him.
I'm heading straight there anyway.
Okay.
Two Eldritch Blasts with Hex.
I'm confident if I do two,
I'm really going to roll a three.
Okay, so 27 for the first one
and 22 for the second.
Both hits.
And then damage is going to be
100 D10 now.
Okay, for the first one, 14 damage.
All righty. For the second one,
12 damage.
12 damage, all right.
That's six.
You see it's smelling out in different directions.
That's my turn.
That finishes your turn.
Ashton, you're up with Fearne on deck.
Going to take the best knock a couple times,
get a spark going, going to rage.
That'll do.
And the rainbow sparks just start fucking flying
off the hammer and off my head.
All right. Off the dome.
Yep.
And a big sparkly rainbow charge of,
what does 40 feet get me?
How close to this 40 feet?
What is 40 feet?
40 will get you about there.
All right.
What am I going to do, then?
I'm going to run directly at it,
and I'm going to keep going for another 40 feet,
and I'm just going to bark at it a couple of times.
Be-be-be-be-be!
Immediately, like.
Oh jeez. No.
I mean, he's raging.
All right, that finishes your go.
Fearne, you're up.
You're warm on deck. All right.
So, I'm a Scorching Ray.
All right.
So, let's do this one.
13.
13, this is?
Okay.
18. 18 hits.
Okay.
22. That hits.
Okay, so.
So that's 4d6 fire damage.
Plus 1d8 because
Because you're awesome in fire? Mister's out.
Yeah.
And.
I should put him over here.
Nice.
Oh.
Look at all these buddies.
We're now zero.
Okay.
Stay up to date. Okay.
Mister, who's stay put?
Perfectly happy to do the distraction.
Okay, 16 points of damage.
16 points of hurting, all righty.
And then Mister is going to shoot some flaming shit.
Let's do it.
It's just a shitty day.
It's just a shitty day.
Episode title, Shit Show. Shit Show. I mean. Pretty good. day. It's just a shitty day. Episode title, Shit Show.
Shit Show.
I mean.
Pretty good.
Wow.
All right.
Sure, sure, shit show.
That's trying to plot our next demise.
Can't move toward us.
What can he do?
Oh my god.
Staring you down.
Wait. How about the power? Can he do? Oh my god. Staring you down.
Wait. How about the power? To the move you. Sorry, sorry.
None of those notes were right.
Not a single one.
I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry.
They're torn.
I'm pretty sure that was the THX sound. Yeah, I'm so sorry. They're too sure. I'm pretty sure that was the THX sound.
Yeah, I think so.
Wait, does he attack?
He just shoots his poo.
Why am I blanking right now?
Yeah, and you roll for attack with it.
Then what do I add for his attack?
Why am I having a brain fart right now?
I don't know. I'll come around.
What's that guy?
Wasn't I showing you guys doing this on here?
Is it here somewhere and I'm just not seeing it?
Ashley's been shoveling shit for 70 episodes.
Some days you wake up and you forget
what breakfast looks like.
It's a two-in.
Your spell attack modifier.
Sometimes it looks like a troll.
Oh my god, okay.
That was weird.
Brain fart.
Okay.
Sometimes the brain farts hit.
16.
16?
Just barely misses.
Oh!
17.
All right, all right, all right.
It is a magic number. Good to know, good to know.
All right.
Good to know.
That's my turn.
Ugh. All righty.
Good to know.
That's my turn. Good to know.
All right.
As you're all facing this direction,
off in this direction, a heavy
like an impact sound hits, shakes the ground,
and you hear
Are you Keyleth's friend?
All of the currently focused in flame flying creatures
look around and the entity that's currently
in the middle of the battle,
Uh-oh.
Everyone is paying attention.
Orym, what are you doing?
Oh! So off in that direction,
we heard a bigger fish.
Too far away from you.
Okay.
Do I know how far off that felt?
Yeah.
Do you?
With your passive perception, probably like...
500, 600 feet.
Okay, okay.
This has changed slightly what I'm going to do.
Oh! So you can't get a little drunk there. Yeah, yeah hundred feet. Okay, okay. This has changed slightly what I'm going to do.
Oh!
You kicked a little drug there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Thank you.
This is good, this is a little more slash.
Yeah, throwing out what I was going to do,
and I'm just as Ash has it preoccupied,
I'm just going to hop back and forth
and look for a break in its legs,
and I'm just going to stab the motherfucker,
and we're flanking, are we not?
If you move right here, you'll be flanking.
I will scoop my boot.
And then you can shove your sword in its booty.
Rip up his poop hole.
That is, what is that?
That's a low roll is what that is.
I never read those tags.
That is, that's a 15, so that misses.
The second hits. That's a 27.
That definitely hits, yeah.
Okay.
Let's make it a goading attack.
You got it.
So, yep.
That will get us attention.
Yep.
Stabbed him in the sphincter.
That's a wisdom save.
Wisdom save.
That's a natural 16.
That beats it.
Ow!
Does it? No, it fails, because I'm 17.
17? Yeah.
It has no wisdom bonus, so it's just straight 16.
Okay, so that is one plus six is seven plus 10.
16 points of damage.
Yeah. You got it.
And disadvantage against anyone but me.
Great. Since I poked its booper.
Awesome.
Finishing your go, that brings us to Imogen
with Chetney on deck.
Oh, that's right!
Do your love.
I'm ready.
I'm ready!
I'm going to, how far can I do this?
Ready for the big ride.
It's probably very dexterous.
You got this.
Take this guy out before the big guy comes.
I'm going to
lightning bolt it.
Okay.
It's 100, you said I was 90 feet away the last time.
Correct.
And the lightning bolt is a hundred foot distance.
It's a hundred foot line, right?
The fire attack was just fine.
Nothing weird about the fire.
So I hit it.
You can hit it in a way that doesn't hurt your friends.
Great. I would have shivvy over it in a way that doesn't hurt your friends.
Great. I would have shimmied over
if I had to do that. I'm sure you have.
Like, I'm looking through the flames.
What'd I do?
Five.
That would be 11, so it still fails.
Sweet.
So that is nine d6.
Kind of juiced.
Two, three, four,
five, six, seven, eight, nine.
But it was seven.
Ha ha!
12.
I think the clouds was a hundred-ish long.
12, 16, 20,
25, 29, 30.
31 points of lightning damage.
Is it dead?
Through a blast in the side of the creature
is distracted by the sound, gets hit.
It looks like it definitely is looking
in the direction of where it came from and smells.
That's all.
Because you're behind the fire.
Yeah.
And then I'm going to,
my Ryloren's going to attack it as well.
Go for it. Two attacks on that.
What did she do?
No, don't leave me!
Oh, natural 20!
Nice!
Good job, Lauren.
And 16?
16 doesn't hit.
16 misses, unfortunately.
You watch as the Ryloran back there,
still semi-ethereal state, pulls its arms up,
and you watch as this slightly faint red-pink energy
draws from around it, and it brings up its hands
to the sides of its elongated head,
and its eyes flare
and the creature buckles for a second
from some sort of impact.
11 points of damage. That's it?
Go over there, you fucking red bitch!
Finish your go?
That's everything, yeah.
Jannira. Eye flare, that's it?
Goddamn it!
Nice.
And I will
hop down behind FCG.
Hello.
What the fuck was that sound?
And I will run around back here.
All right.
Climber back in the air.
One step closer to FCG so I can see him.
You got it. Yep, yep.
All righty.
Finishing your go? Yep.
All righty.
This creature is Compelled.
Compelled.
I'll hold an action in case anybody comes near me,
but I'm not planning on it.
It doesn't say he gets to remake saves.
That's just it.
No, at the end of his turn, it can try to make it. After moving, it can make I'm not planning on it. It doesn't say he gets to remake saves. That's just it.
No, at the end of his turn, it can try to make it.
After moving, it can make a wisdom save.
Got it. Well, first,
because you just slashed it,
it looks like it's distracted right now
from multiple things, multiple sides,
but you did goad it last turn,
so it's going to unleash three attacks on you.
Goddamn it.
So it'll spin around to face you.
No, I don't like the way that thing looks.
Nope. That's bad.
No, I haven't seen it.
That's really bad. That's going to be a 26 to hit.
That hits a little bit.
For the bite. But just a little bit.
Just a little bit.
Then the two claw attacks afterward.
That's going to be a 17.
Miss.
And another natural 20.
Damn.
On the claw attack.
Oh!
Barb is back.
Yes, she is.
Critical.
What's the range on Slytherin Barbs?
I'm pretty sure it's 60 feet.
It's 60, I just saw it.
It's up a little higher.
60 feet.
60 feet? Slytherin Barber Downs.
Good run, good run.
Still not ready.
Slytherin Barber Downs.
Still a natural 18, but not a crit.
Not a crit.
Oh, 18? 18?
Natural 18. Natural 18.
So much higher.
Okay.
That would have been 24.
That also hits a little bit.
No, 25.
I take 20% of the total damage.
Correct.
So, bring us the...
Okay.
There you go.
So the bite attack.
Thank you, Laudna.
You have advantage.
I'll give it to Orym.
Take 30 points of piercing damage from the bite
as it clamps down on your shield arm
and actually almost eats your arm off.
You take your sword and dig through
and pull yourself free.
The second claw strike comes up
and you barely deflect it with the shield,
but the power in doing so puts the shield
right out of the way of your defensive position
and the other claw strikes you in the abdomen.
For...
25 points of slash damage.
Ooh!
Have you been over there in the world?
He's like,
Oh, so far away.
I was going to heal good old Shudnick.
Compulsion, it's going to go ahead and
it looks over in the direction
where that noise came from,
and it's going to, where do you want to compel it?
Well, I had, do I?
You want to do it this way, right?
Do I? I mean, I think I, yeah.
That's what I told him one time.
I'm taking an attack of 40.
Yes, both of you can take attacks of opportunity.
I'm going to take an attack of opportunity.
Do we get advantage because of where it was
on that attack or no?
No, it's by the time it leaves your combat position.
I do get my d4 because the aura fits.
26 for me.
Well, it's interesting because,
no, I miss. Fuck.
Fuck, I fucking miss.
Nine points of damage.
Nine points of damage? Got it, cool.
All right, so it darts off, skittering across the way,
throwing rocks and bits of broken volcanic material
behind it as it rushes off in that direction.
Wisdom save.
Try and resist the effect.
That is going to be a natural 17.
So it does no longer compel.
You might want to leave anyway, though.
He's actually scary, but kind of cute at the same time.
All righty.
F.C.G., you're up with Laudna on deck.
I'm up? Yep.
Jesus.
He's like,
I don't know if I can make it over there.
To you, Orym.
I can do Healing Word, but that's so weak, Sauce.
I can't touch you.
Don't you have something that it can be
like everybody in an area?
In an area, yeah, but we're all spread out right now.
I can do Mass Healing Word within a 60 feet.
Are we all within 60 feet of each other?
And if you got in the center.
Yeah, I could do that.
If you move forward, you could get a lot of us.
You're also dead moving forward.
Well, you're not going to be able to get both of them.
They're just not 60 feet.
It's really just the two of them.
The two of them are down.
It's 60 feet.
Does that mean 120 feet or is it?
It's a six-foot circle.
Yeah. Six-foot radius.
Oh.
You're on Death's Door, Orym?
Yes.
Okay, I'll move towards Orym a bit
and I'll do Healing Word on him.
Okay.
A ffff.
It's 60 foot for a Healing Word, right?
Yeah.
He doesn't need to be that close.
You can be back here and still get him.
Oh, okay.
I guess I'll do a third-level Healing Word. It need to be that close. He doesn't need to be that close. You can be back here and still get him. Oh, okay. I guess I'll do a third level healing word.
It's still not that much.
Third level healing word.
Do it at range.
Yeah.
Which is pretty good.
Oh.
One, five, nine plus three,
12 points of healing.
You're in Double digits.
Orym, get back in the fight!
Then I got an action.
Sorry, Chetney.
I can throw you this. No, no, no.
I got one, it's okay.
Okay, shit, and I can't really do an action.
I'm so far away from it.
Maybe I can.
I'll shoot a thing at it.
I got to shoot a thing shooter, a bolt thrower.
I'll shoot a bolt thrower at it.
Let it go! Okay.
What's the weapon range on that one?
80 feet. Work.
80 feet. Work.
This is 85 feet. Work, work, work.
Yeah, he is within range.
Woof.
Come on.
Nope.
Damn it! 12.
Ever work? Nope, never.
At least you're consistent.
That's true.
This was his campaign.
This has to be.
So finish your turn?
Yeah, I guess so.
It's going to be the final fight.
I already have a lot of action on deck.
Shit.
Crossbow's going to be the last one.
Me? Yep.
Okay.
Nope.
Me.
It also takes another d8 from the...
No, it's only once per round.
One of the agony? Yeah. I think I have to do it, it's only once per round. What, an agony?
Yeah.
I think I have to do it to...
It's once per round,
but it just did another multi-attack against Orym.
I thought it was only on one round
and then I had to do it again if I wanted to keep it up.
Oh, that's right, because you didn't mind.
I didn't amplify it.
Didn't amplify it, you're good.
I don't want to use my action to do this,
but can I do a quick scan and see if I heard
where that big rumbling came from?
You can make a cursory glance, yeah.
Make a perception check.
Didn't have enough blood to amplify,
if you know what I mean. Understood.
18. 18.
You know the direction,
and it came from loosely this direction,
but you have no idea how far.
You don't see anything. Bad over here.
It's bad, it's have no idea how far. You don't see anything. It's bad over here.
It's bad, it's bad up there.
Okay.
Got a cold front coming in from this side.
Been pretty bad over here.
Not here, fucking horrible.
I'm going to tell Pâté,
hey, buddy, go for a ride.
And I want him to come and just go for a ride
and hold on till this little guy's little horns is.
All right, Mom, I've got him. Mom.
Then through Pate, I'm going to do a Shocking Grasp.
Certainly. Roll for damage, or roll to attack.
25.
25 hits.
And then he's still hexed.
Desperate good.
Oh wait, no, sorry, I'll keep that.
It's 2d8.
Okay, eight, nine.
12, nine,
13 damage.
13 damage, you got it.
In the Shocking Grasp.
Then I'm going to slightly tiptoe over here.
All right.
So I can get just the faintest bit.
Of a view on him? Of a view on him.
You got it.
I'm going to Quicken a spell,
and I'm going to take my spindly fingers
and jam them into the dirt.
Nice.
And you just see all this little skittering start to,
it emanates first from under Laudna's skin,
and then you see little stink bugs crawl out.
And I'm going to send them across
and do infestation, but with stink bugs on them.
All righty.
He's got a very sensitive nose.
Yeah.
That's a cool idea.
Let's see what happens.
All right, it's a constitution saving throw.
That is going to be a 15.
Fails.
Fails, all righty.
Shit, the stink.
Yeah, actually.
Is that what it was?
I can't smell past the stink.
So it takes 1d6 poison damage.
Jesus. I don't know.
What is happening?
2d6 because of my level right now.
All right, yeah.
And then he moves in a random direction.
All right, let's go ahead and roll.
Unless the stink messes with him
in a more thematic way.
I think this is what's causing him
to move in a random direction, is the stink, the smell of the stink bungs all him in a more thematic way. I think this is what's causing him to move in a random direction,
is the stink, the smell of the stink bungs
all firing in his direction.
He's not quite sure.
Stink bungs?
He'll move, he climbs 15 feet up onto the rock right here.
Oh, see, Patay's the new frog.
And yeah, I want Patay to still be going for it.
Oh, try not to know this!
Moving around a lot!
It's a big guy, slimy!
All right, so. Oh, wait.
Hang on, I get one more d6 because he's still hexed by me.
That's true. Another three damage.
You got it.
Haaaxed. Don't forget that, haaxed.
That was haaaaxed.
All righty, finishing your go.
Ashton, you're up with Fearne on deck.
So at the beginning of this turn,
the sparks are starting to fade,
and I have that, oh boy.
Rage fade. Rage fade.
Fuck, and I'm just going to smack myself in the head
with the hammer again. Yeah!
And let's see what happens.
Oh no, and you had to get a new rage?
It's the same thing.
The rainbow just pops right back in.
Okay.
I'm going to run straight at Orym,
and I'm going to say hop on,
and we're going to keep running.
So it's five, 10, 15?
Yeah.
Just step up onto the hammer
as he comes towards me.
And then keep going in that direction.
All right.
No, towards the edge of the board.
Oh, here we go.
That way? Yep.
And then I'm going to use the rest of my,
now that you're there.
On the cover.
I will say, to move him along with you,
it gives you half movement in the carrying process,
so it does reduce your movement bringing him there.
Yeah, shit.
Okay.
The issue with helping a friend get over there.
Yeah, no, I'm debating what to do next, though.
Do I take him all the way out of the system
or do I leave him there?
That's up to you.
There's not actually a little cavern there, is there?
Hmm? That's just a hollow.
There's a little door on your side.
There might be a little hollow.
I'm going to use, I'm going to,
I'm going to, yeah, I'm going to dash
and keep heading down there.
Okay, and with your dash and your movement,
you can manage to get over into this little hollow space.
Is there, okay, so there's a hollow?
Yeah. Shoving you in back.
It's only about maybe six, seven feet deep,
but it's definitely like a little hollow.
Yeah, and then I'm just posting up.
Okay, you got it.
Hey, Josh.
That was a decision.
All righty, that finishes your go.
Fearne, you're up.
All right, I'm going to peek around towards you,
and I'm going to Scorch and Ray again.
Do it!
Same level?
Yeah. All righty.
So that's three rays.
Nope, 13.
Do you have anything in here?
16.
Come on.
I'll draw this one.
Oh!
12.
No hits.
Rough rolls.
Mister's going to go.
I'm going to roll a different one.
That's cocked. That's weird.
I know, this dice is always.
It lands so dumb.
What? Okay, okay, okay.
Do something else.
It lands so dumb.
It does, it lands on its edge.
It does, it always lands on its edge.
Mister Hitz with 25.
Mister Hitz, great.
Go ahead and roll damage from Mister's fiery turd gun.
Fiery turd.
Nice, 10 points of damage.
Great.
Starting to show a little wear and tear
on the creature as it gets hit.
All right. Did I finish your go?
Did I finish your go? Yes.
Wait, hold on. You still have 15 feet
of movement.
I just thought of something.
I'm going to stay. Okay.
Well, I'm going to tuck back behind the rack.
Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
All righty.
Just like...
As you stand there.
Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh.
Not like that.
And there's a moment where everything around you
gets a little darker.
Shit. What?
Can't see.
As you glance up and see a shadow
in the sky above you that gets bigger and bigger.
I trust it.
An impact hits the ground,
and rocks and stones and bits of broken volcanic landscape
just go flying around.
Everybody in the vicinity make a dexterity saving throw.
Oh fuck!
Fuck everybody.
Everybody except for, actually, the two of you are safe,
and Chetney's safe, so everybody who's out in the open here.
Saving throw? Yes.
16. 16.
16, you take one point of piercing damage.
Oh. 15.
One point of piercing damage.
19.
One point of piercing damage.
22. One point of piercing damage.
The rest of you are shielded from it,
just from the debris being blasted back.
As the dust settles for a moment,
you can see this hulking black shape
that's probably about 25 feet tall at the top
and about 40 feet wide from side to side.
What looks like a gargantuan, jet black toad-like creature
has just landed in the middle of this battlefield
and left a crater there.
It has two bulbous yellow eyes in the front
and a third one that pops up towards the back to where it has a visual sight
on all points. As it lands, it curls up
and looks towards this chameleon-type lizard
and its mouth opens up once more.
Giving this heavy, deep, bassy croak
that quakes the stones around.
As its mouth opens, Fearne, you're the only one,
actually, Fearne and Laudna, you glance over.
The inside of its mouth is glowing.
You look over in the mouth where it glows
and you see it's not fire,
there are lanterns hanging on the inside.
What?
It looks like, for a brief moment,
you can see a quick glimpse
of a partially furnished
living room and a hearth that's burning and crackling.
As the mouth closes,
it stands there,
inhales, and then gives one big
and its whole chest puffs outward
and the creature on the side of the hill shakes
and looks like it's about to shit itself.
Yes, Matthew Mercer.
What are you talking about?
It's about this big right there.
Do you have a mini for that?
I don't have a mini that big.
I tried to order a massive Halloween toad
and it didn't come in time.
It was supposed to come today, but that's a good thing.
Matt, we have one of those toads at home.
Don't tell him that now.
That doesn't help anything.
Well. Sorry.
It's in the garage.
It is in the garage.
It's in the Halloween bin.
Why?
This is on me. I'm sorry.
Use your imagination!
I don't know. It's going crazy. I'm sorry! Use your imagination! I don't know what I'm doing.
It's going crazy.
I'm imagining. You were at home?
I'm imagining a total mess.
Pause the game. Just pause the game.
No.
Here. Parker?
Hand me that Boer Bark cup.
Actually, that's kind of dope.
It's a little bit bigger than this.
Hey! Hey!
Now it's a party thing.
I don't get it. it has a straw, Matt?
No, no, no, kill him! heard something. I don't know what. I lean against this rock. I walk under Ash's legs. Five,
10, 15, 20. Oh, show shit. I step back, and as I stumble backwards, I take two slashes with
Seedling and cut the air to hit the thing.
Go for it.
No. Okay. Straight roll. 17?
17 hits. That's just enough. Uh, no. Okay, so straight roll. 17?
17's right. That's just enough.
Okay.
Laudna, did you see that?
I think I did.
I'm going to try to hit it in the eye
and make another goading attack.
All right. Looks cozy.
It's in its mouth. Six plus four is 10.
I saw it.
Guys!
A six is, uh, not 19 points of damage on that one.
19 points of damage.
Fails us with some save with a 10.
Okay, so.
So it is definitely successfully goaded.
And then I will...
It's available in the store.
I'm going to, I'm going to, hmm.
That's a 24 to hit.
24 to hit. Swing away.
That's 10 points and fucking I'm going to Action Surge and keep going. Do it, do it. That's a 24 to hit. 24 to hit. Swing away. That's 10 points and fucking I'm going to
Action Surge and keep going.
Do it, do it.
That's a 27 to hit.
27 hits.
That is nine points of damage.
Last one is a two and it misses.
All righty.
Well done. Does that finish your go?
I will stumble back a bit.
Fair enough. I've got a little bit
of movement left. What the fuck's going on?
Big frog! Fuck.
Big frog! Okay.
Big frog, chase me. Big, big, big frog. Fuck. Big frog! Okay. Big frog, chase me.
Big, big, big frog.
All right, Chetney. Big frog, chase me.
I'm sorry, it's Imogen, and then it's you.
Sorry.
You can see, as it's sitting there,
massive, massive muscular legs
and these large webbed feet that you recognize
from the imprint you saw the day before.
As it begins to turn and right itself,
there are four arms that dangle from the front,
two that catch and two that are reared up
and almost grabbing the edge of the legs as it turns.
I am going to use telepathic speech.
I'm going to say in its head,
Taurus, we were sent by the voice of the Tempest.
One of the eyes looks over to focus on you
and you get not a language response,
but an acknowledgment and a sense of
just hide a moment. Okay Just hide a moment.
Okay.
Hide a moment?
Yeah.
Okay.
Keep yourself safe.
Keep myself safe.
All right.
I am going to...
It's welcome here.
And it's weirdly...
It's familiar, even though you just met it.
There's a comfort, like, don't worry.
Oh, I love it.
Um, great.
I am going to back up,
and I'm going to say,
take cover!
This way?
Out loud to everyone.
Yeah.
Okay.
So you're going to back up off that field there.
Finish your go?
Ye...
Yes.
All right. I really want to
communicate to everyone.
It's going to help.
It's helping. It's good.
All righty.
Chetney.
Yeah, I'll come cautiously
off the rock and make my way towards the tiki mug.
I said take cover!
Oh no, I'm sorry! I said take cover!
I'm losing a lot of blood!
And I'll use my movement to back up.
Just lay against the rock, be like,
I see this is how we do it. They're like, oh, oh, oh!
Oh, oh, oh!
All right, it's the creature's turn.
The creature is going to just flee.
It goes into a full movement and dash
to 90 feet that direction.
It is quite a ways in that direction.
Not going to reach that far, but we're going to say
it's just off to that side.
FCG, Laudna, Ashton, Fearne,
anything in particular you want to do in this moment?
I just go,
Pâté, let go!
Bail!
Okay!
Thank you for letting me know!
What the fuck is going on?
I'm very specific and I'm doing exactly
what you asked me to do.
I know you're such a good boy, come here.
I'm just very, what's the word?
Obedient.
Pliable. Yeah.
Pliable. Pliable.
It's just mud in there.
Do you feel pliable?
A little dumb.
Come here!
I'm so dumb.
Listening to Imogen,
I'm just going to cuddle up against this rock
and take cover, whatever that means.
Yeah, leaving room for Fearne.
Okay.
I'm going to run over to Chet
and pump a second level Cure Wounds into him.
Nice.
I'm going to go hide behind the rock with Laudna
and just scream out,
Hi from Kiki! Hi from Kiki!
Imagine Mister goes and hides as well.
My Ryloran hides behind the rock as well.
Also a word for poop.
Yeah.
Hey, y'all got poop.
All the me's, you can come out again.
Maybe. They may know.
You can look.
All of them have, the ones that scattered,
they spread out a little bit,
and they've all now densely circled the top of this toad.
As they swarm, they swarm above
and are excitedly causing this massive,
almost like a light whirlwind in the air above it.
Does the toad have any teal on its back, too?
If you have a look, yeah, there's a few spatters across it.
Like the car that was parked too long.
It rights itself in the direction of the fleeing creature
and looks over and takes a huge leap,
up into the air.
A massive, massive arc.
Then lands right behind this fleeing creature.
As it hits, it uses its front arms to flip the creature.
You watch as this lizard creature,
right at the edge of where the fog takes your vision,
you watch it just and then vanish off.
Like that raccoon in the end of the raccoon.
Yep, straight up. Fuck yeah.
All of his legs.
Yep, just full of, and they do.
The Centimical Force holds its legs out, full on.
It just vanishes out in the mist before you hear,
.
Wow.
Wow. Into the ocean.
Into the ocean with you.
From there. you hear the heavy
as this monstrous toad clambers
and hops over back to where the rest of you are
before it settles in the middle of this arena.
I'll give you your drink back, sorry.
Oh no, it was empty.
Oh, there you go. Thank you, I appreciate you helping.
Where did the frog go?
It's back. It's back.
It's in the middle of this. Oh, okay.
We move in. Can we move in closer now?
Tentatively peeking around the rock.
Yeah. Matt's not even going to
entertain it. He's like,
I don't know. Settles here.
And then sits. Its's like, I don't know. Kind of settles here. And then sits.
Its massive legs, its knees framing both sides of it,
the other arms settling into place.
As it leans forward, it seems to shake a little bit,
like it's trying to finish stretching
after its recent tussle.
I'm slowly going to start poking my head around the rock.
Start walking over it a little bit.
Okay.
Hello?
She told us to say hi from Kiki.
Hi from Kiki.
You see the eyes blink
and it nuzzles the ground a little bit
before its mouth opens
and opens its jaw.
And now the rest of you can clearly see
within this massive toad creature,
there are partitions and there are chambers.
And you can see framed artwork on the wall.
It's like a grandma's cottage
on the inside of a massive toad.
There's little hanging planters
that are still rocking from the impact of it landing.
What are the walls made of, the partition walls?
It looks like they're made of wood.
It's like the interior of a log cabin, almost.
They took the trees from the landscape partition walls. It looks like they're made of wood. It's like the interior of a log cabin, almost.
They took the trees from the landscape
and built a home within this entity.
And you look in the far wall,
there is a handle, and holding onto the handle,
in what looks to be a rocking chair
that in itself is bolted to the ground
so it doesn't slide around,
you see this hunched,
female turtle humanoid.
Yes!
In this region, referred to as a Galapa.
You see this large brown shell
that's decorated and hanging ribbons
and curios and charms
that dangle around from its side.
As it sits up, releasing the bar up off the chair,
dusts off the apron and begins to step through the interior,
looking out into the foggy daylight,
the morning brightness that's still getting brighter
as the morning unfolds,
glances out at the rest of you.
Well, good morning to all of you.
You say you're here on the behalf of
the Kiki? The Tempest, yes. Right, I heard that name.
As she steps forward, she's quite elderly.
The dark gray skin is very wrinkled
with this colorful patchwork dress,
almost like a sundress that's way too small for her frame.
That looks like it's been torn and then refixed
with rope to make it more of,
you know, it's not an apron that she's wearing.
It's part of a dress that's been just repaired multiple times.
When she smiles, the wrinkles crack backward
to look like a puppet.
They pull in this bright smile
where the head bisects the pointed snout
curling down past the lower lip,
like Morla, the Ancient One kind of vibe.
Gentle, soulful, pale blue eyes
that as soon as they look at you,
they almost seem like they read your essence
in but an instant.
Well, you are here at the behest of a trusted friend.
So by extension, you are trusted friends.
Javanna, right? Jorana. Jivana, right?
Jorana. Jorana.
The sure, true,
I don't know if that's a nice nickname,
or I don't know, I...
I've learned to embrace it through the years.
I respect that.
Ma'am, do you have a house in your toad?
I do.
Is your toad's name do. Is your toad named Torres?
This is Torres.
Oh.
Torres is my companion,
and my home, and my guardian.
Do you pay him rent?
I don't know. He's amazing.
Uh.
I just have so many questions. How many square feet?
Do you have squatter's rights?
We have an arrangement that she tickles
the outside of the doorway as she stepped out of,
and the token of
is like, aw, he's big, softy.
May I pet him?
Yeah. Sure.
I go give scritchies. It's interesting. It's scritching.
It's like scratching the rock face of a cliff
after a fresh rain,
with just a little bit of give on the outside.
There's that scaly texture.
It's unique, but as you press,
it's also warm to the touch.
That makes me a little uncomfortable, though.
Yeah.
I'm sure you've noticed the change
in the world in everything lately.
It is hard to avoid.
Those of us who have been here for some time,
you just can sense when change is on the wind.
Well, we're Bells Hells,
and I'm Ashton of the Hashari,
and we need help
concerning a particular tree.
and we need help concerning a particular tree.
There are many trees.
Maybe I can be of help.
Come in, come in.
It's much warmer inside.
I really want to go in.
Yeah, no, I'm really into this now.
I've given up having any.
Yeah.
Just to be safe, I'm a little covered in blood.
Is that going to be okay, bringing into your abode?
Just a moment. She steps off to the side
and grabs a bucket from the kitchen and.
That was really satisfying.
Ticka-ticka-ticka-ticka-ticka.
That was good.
Oh, oh. Oh!
Oh!
Ow!
Oh!
Wow.
Ow!
Ow!
Ow!
Shit.
I see him take a full bucket,
and I am in extreme pain,
and I just shut up and limp inside.
Oh. You're cuter, Laura, than I am.
You look like you've had quite a scuffle.
Huh.
Well. no.
Barimandolo is a dangerous creature,
though it is just living by its essence.
What did you say that creature was?
Barimandolo.
Whoa, Barimandolo. Barimanalo?
Barimandolo.
Ruins everything.
It is a child of the reef serpent, Esquala.
Whoa.
Esquala protects the Utu Reef, far north of the island,
and it lays its eggs
at different islands through its lifetime.
This is one of its children.
Oh.
And what about those little flying creatures?
What are they?
Oh, the dolabos.
Dolabos.
They are beautiful,
strange, flighty,
but dolabos.
I'm sorry.
Eternal children of the island.
They are very cute.
We're covered in their poop.
I noticed.
I noticed.
We don't need it anymore right now.
That is up to you.
The Lobos, or the Barry Mandolo is still out there.
Do not hate it for its nature.
It's still a teenager.
This seemed like a good idea at the time.
I can't tell anymore.
Teenagers do act out.
He writes the songs.
Is this?
Shit.
Fuck.
Body. Goddamn it.
Body. Body.
Is this place full,
this land full of creatures this size?
Amen.
Not only a few of them.
The Bering is one of a handful of creatures
that live in this cluster of islands, yes.
My friend and I took to the air yesterday,
pretty high up, and we saw something in the air,
something larger than your home, even.
That is likely the Cloud Jaws.
Cloud Jaws?
They are like a sky whale.
Yeah, that's a really good description.
Like evil or?
No, there are many things that you could call evil
based on your perspectives,
but they just live by their nature.
I'll shoot for dangerous.
Dangerous?
They can be dangerous.
But you have to be.
It's why there aren't any skyships
that travel beyond the Fog Curtain.
Okay, I'm down for skyscrapers.
Cloud jaws.
They like to eat what comes within the closer range.
But they do not like to get close to the water,
so ocean travel is generally safe.
I guess it's this thing.
That's pretty cool.
Yeah.
I want to see one, though.
Wow.
We're looking for a tree.
A bunch of beer? Yeah.
A bunch of that.
A bunch of that.
Ah.
Well, this seems like it'll be a deeper conversation
than I was prepared for,
so maybe I make some tea.
Oh, that sounds really good.
This would be a conversation over tea, I make some tea. Oh, that sounds really good. This would be a conversation over tea, I think.
Come.
She moves over and opens up a small closet on the side.
You can see within the closet,
there's interior ribcage, flesh.
The interior is mostly this beautiful cabin,
but there's no windows.
In certain edges and chambers,
you can see the interior of the toad poking through.
It would be almost disturbing if it wasn't quaint in places.
But she reaches in and pulls out some stools
and sets up a makeshift sitting circle
and moves some furniture over, like,
this big old rickety couch that looks like
it's about to fall apart gets pushed over.
Is there a coat hanger, by any chance, on the way in?
Do I see if there's a coat hanger?
There is no coat hanger.
Okay, I was trying to take some of the poop stain stuff off
before I sit down.
I can press it to do that.
Yeah, let's just go for it.
I'll just clean us up a little bit before we sit down.
Come on in.
She goes and takes a little piece of wood
and throws it into the fire.
The hearth picks up and burns a little brighter
for a second and goes over
and sets a little metal cauldron on the side.
You can see at the top,
there is a little bit of where the apex of the roof is.
It goes to a blowhole
and all the smoke goes up within the inside.
You now recall that when it landed,
though you weren't quite sure what it,
you thought maybe it was just smoke from the fire,
but it actually gives off a little bit
of a chimney smoke trail off the top of the toad.
Oh my god.
But you go in and sets a little cauldron
on a hangar with the fire and starts boiling some water
before turning to the rest of you.
Does it have, so it has just two legs,
or does it have two legs and then two front legs?
Two legs and then four front arms.
Like smaller, kind of like arm-ish.
Fronties.
Like froggy arms, I tested that.
Does this hurt him, being in here with all the?
No, I think it keeps him warm and keeps him company.
Wow.
I love it. I do, too.
I wish we could just live in Torres all the time.
Are there more of these, or did you?
You made it.
You made it.
I have certainly made this my own,
but I wasn't the first to live within Torres.
Really? I don't know who the previous
Denysin was, but Torres has been alive
for many centuries.
So all this was already here.
A lot of it was,
but I've spruced it up to my particular taste.
Some of the rooms predate you moving in.
I think so.
Wow.
I'm but the latest steward of the island.
Maybe the prior owner flipped it. I was thinking this might be a rent control.
Just keep passing it off before anyone knows.
Well, and she finishes pulling off the heated water
and starts pouring into this really intricately kept
collection of china that she has in this small cabinet.
You can see a lot of the furniture here
looks like it's been scavenged
or repaired from shipwrecks
or maybe purchased from odd folks
that came by for trade on this island.
They're all kind of,
they don't have a unified theme to them.
They're all pulled from different places
and some of them look like they're carved from driftwood
and made over time.
I have a gift to add to your collection.
It's the Taste of Tal'Dorei Tankard.
Ooh.
Oh my goodness.
I have never been to Tal'Dorei.
Do they drink from this?
Well, technically, it's not from Tal'dorei.
Yeah, I think that's what they drink from because that's,
yeah.
It's definitely limited edition.
We've never been there.
A very kind gift.
Unnecessary, but appreciated.
Thank you.
And she pours her own tea in with it.
Aw.
Well.
The voice, Keyleth, is a wonderful woman
with an impressive, heartful leadership.
She has been bearing many burdens,
and I'm sure many more since we last spoke,
and I hope my words helped her lift the weight
she carried many years ago.
The fact that she's brought you to me
leads me to believe that perhaps there is
burden upon your shoulders as well.
Oh yeah.
She told us you were a specialist on grief and loss.
You could say that.
How did you come to know her?
I think she heard of me.
I didn't call to her, she found me.
I don't know how, but I don't question.
How did you gain such a reputation
for being a grief counselor?
It is a very long story that maybe is too much
to make this about myself,
with you being such fine guests,
but suffice to say, I have lost a lot in my lifetime.
And I have lived a very long lifetime.
I have seen and witnessed many terrible things and many wonderful things.
And I've seen many wonderful things
come out of terrible things.
So I guess you could say
I have a perspective through these experiences,
I have a perspective through these experiences,
as well as a comfortable connection
with the natural life force of Exandria
that can sometimes help others
with similar experiences.
And I'm just a very good listener. can sometimes help others with similar experiences.
And I'm just a very good listener.
Maybe a simpler question. How long have you been on the Shadow Teeth?
I've been in the Shadow Teeth my entire life.
Oh, wow.
Which, you see she does some mid-air math
with her long turtle claw at the end of the finger.
It's hard when you've been around for a while,
aren't you?
Yeah, yeah.
120-something years.
Do you have family here?
Not anymore.
I'm sorry. Do you have family here, or? Not anymore.
Sorry.
Do you roam all the islands, or just this one?
Of the shattered teeth? Just this one, no.
There are other islands, though.
There are 43 islands that compr. Well, there are 43 islands
that comprise the Shattered Tief.
Let's go! Sorry.
We have to t-shirt it.
They all reside deep within the fog curtain.
This is just one of many.
She does the math again in her head.
Well, I suppose years, from your understanding,
it is hard to keep track of
in the Shattered Teeth sometimes.
I guess by what you would consider an Exandrian year,
be closer to 400 years, maybe.
Oh, wait. Fair.
What? The years here are different?
Well, the spirits of the land
have a unique way of keeping time.
So wait, when you say you're 120-something years old.
You're more like 400-some-odd years old?
From outside calendars, yes.
From outside, so different calendars.
So the calendar here is roughly...
Is it a calendar difference,
or does time move differently?
She just said it was a calendar difference,
unless it's a little bit of both.
I don't know. I do not have a calendar.
But you said one year.
It's like 400 years?
Am I? I don't know.
So Sam, it's 400 years.
That's a long time.
You get the sense from her that in some ways
she's very wise, in some others she's a little confused.
When she says the spirits, there's a reverence
to the energies of the land.
You're not certain that there is clarity
on some of these messages necessarily,
but you also get a sense that maybe her own understanding
of the passage of time is a little...
She's got her own story going on.
Turtle time.
Can you sense the spirits,
the spirits of the land,
and in other words, do you feel them? Somewhat. The spirits of the land and,
in other words, do you feel them?
Somewhat.
Anyone who spends a lot of time alone
can hear them if they listen.
Can you hear them in other people?
I do not follow.
I was told that I should
tell you that I'm a Titan of Blood
and that you might know something about the Hashari.
It's not a long story, to be honest.
I think I'm the last survivor,
as far as I know,
but I don't remember being there.
This is a very unique history, I'd say.
I do apologize.
I do not know much about the Hissari.
Myself, it is a part of history
perhaps I have not read about.
But you are looking for
the Tree of Atrophy, I see. Yes.
What is it you seek with this tree?
That's a good question.
The world is...
The world is changing,
and I'm trying to figure out what I mean.
What my life means, I don't know, and I...
The earth has started to feel different,
and I was told that I would find something in this tree
that would clarify.
The power, I don't know.
I don't know.
Evandre Ver was
one of the few surviving
civilians of what was previous before the Shattered Teeth.
Evandre Verre took all of the sorrow
and the loss of all that was destroyed
in the Calamity upon themself
and became the memory of those who had returned to the land.
They took root in the island of Calutha
to become this tree,
to forever be a memory of the sacrifice
and the sadness,
the emptiness, to be a vessel for the sorrow of others,
and to become one of the few worldly windows
into the realms of death and beyond.
Worldly windows into the realms of death and beyond. Worldly windows into death?
That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for.
Well, it is
a moderate journey to the island.
You talk about the tree as though it was
a person or a living entity. It is still a living entity, more or less.
It was once a Gaujashari,
one of the druidic peoples that protected itstsandria through the Age of Arcanum.
And for some, when they find,
through long life, through
epiphanies of their purpose
and what they have to grant to the land,
they become something
older and more strongly tethered to that purpose.
Some, often, this takes the form of a tree.
This happens? Like, this is a thing that happened?
Rarely.
But more than once?
More than once.
There are. Did Yvonne choose this?
To become a?
As far as I know, yes.
It has been a long time since I have
spoken to the tree.
But as much as I speak of sorrow,
not all sorrow is
steeped in despair.
That can be a part of it.
But part of my own learning of grief came from spending quite some time with this tree myself.
And through grief can be beauty in memory.
There can be beauty in memory. There can be joy
in
remembering
and carrying forth the lessons
of those that are no longer here.
The tree is between worlds in a strange way.
It can see the path sometimes
to those who wish to know their death.
Knowledge that can be very dangerous for some,
Knowledge that can be very dangerous for some,
or a purpose for others.
It is a lot of things,
and I hope perhaps maybe it is what it is you need for you.
What do you need to do to,
well, I guess we can talk about it when we get closer,
but what do you do to talk to the tree
or connect with the tree?
Do you need to feel your grief at it?
Or? No.
You do not have to bring it anything.
If you have grief to bring to it,
it'll be willing to help you.
We have different approaches.
The tree is honest.
Not everyone can handle honesty to such a degree.
I'm more
motherly.
I hold those who need it, the tree tells them.
We serve similar purposes for different kinds of people.
But nevertheless,
what other questions do you have?
Do you know where the island is, how to get there?
We need to know.
Can Taurus swim there?
No, Taurus, it is too far.
Or jump?
That would not be great.
Taurus is not a great swimmer.
He's been there, so you know the way?
I took a boat.
Oh. Boat.
There's boats here?
There are many boats.
When you have this many islands,
it's how many people travel.
Sure.
Different factions not always meeting in the best way,
depending on which waters they meet.
It's interesting.
The islands, they are not stationary.
What?
Many islands of the Teeth,
they are nomadic.
Hmm.
Ever shifting.
Well, how do you ever keep track of where you're going?
You either have to pray to the spirits
or whatever gods you follow,
or if you know cartographers,
they update the maps every few years.
They have to.
It's always changing.
They must have a lot of business.
Yes, do you know any of cartographers here?
There are no cartographers on the island.
Right, no. But hold on.
There are a lot of shipwrecks that happen
on the southern shore of Slyval,
and they collect things. Southern shore?
Yes, hold on.
She steps away and goes back to that closet,
and you can watch, starts moving things out,
pots and pans falling, ping-pang, off to the side.
A broom falls,
and pulls one of many chests and
drags it out and opens it up.
There's just a pile of junk in there.
Awesome.
She starts pouring through
and you can see a bracelet falls out, a gauntlet hits.
You can see a rusted old blade clatters
against the side of the wall.
You see broken, empty jars fall and shatter even more,
and she kicks it off to the side.
Oh no, that's terrible.
Is it possible to turn off the ember noise?
Oh yeah, the bottom?
Yeah. Sorry.
It's noise, yeah. No worries.
Before eventually pulling out a small,
tattered sheet of thick parchment and goes,
This I kept because it's the most recent
sort of idea of where it might be.
It's not, I do not know how recent it might be.
Oh, oh, oh, oh!
Oh, oh, oh, oh!
Oh, oh, Oh my god!
Travis just starts foaming at the map.
It's not 43.
That's not 43 islands.
No, that's six. It's a part of the map.
Two and three halves.
But it's something.
Look at how it shifts.
It's not real, could you guys?
Here's our Sans-Léval.
That is why I kept it.
This was covered about 12 years ago.
Oh, wow.
I thought the islands changed.
Well, looking at the map,
they were in the process of updating
from what the roving movement was.
Wow. Cool.
So the smaller ones can move greater distances.
And the red Xs?
I think those might be where they made landfall.
And the last one was on the shore.
Before they were destroyed by the...
Barry Travis with a map and a sentient sword.
Is Calutha on there?
Calutha, I believe, is the lower right side.
Oh, great.
That's where we're going, right?
If there were a lot of shipwrecks,
there were plenty of ships to be taken
to the southern shore.
Oh, well. They are all very wrecked,
unfortunately.
You can see where they were previously.
But, let's see.
Shardborn?
If you know how to repair a boat,
there are many trees on the island.
You could try to repair it yourselves.
Yeah, that's not a problem.
Yes, he's a very, yes, talented woodworker.
I've also been around quite a while.
We can teleport, too.
We can teleport.
You don't want to get on a boat?
Well, I like boats,
but we could just teleport.
That'd probably be a better idea.
Rather than fixing a boat with trees.
I haven't fixed a boat in 45 years.
Oh yeah, you could even check it.
It'd be so fun, you guys.
How long will it take you to check?
Depends on the size of the boat
and the shape that she's in.
What's the fastest you've ever repaired a boat?
Yeah.
I mean, it's not about speed. It's about quality. But it kind of is because it's the end you've ever repaired a boat? Yeah. I mean, it's not about speed, Imogen.
It's about quality. It kind of is,
because it's the end of the world.
I mean, I would have to give you an estimate
upon sight of the vessel.
All right. For all of us,
what do you think?
Like, we would probably just need a raft
that's like 10 feet by 10 feet or something?
Yeah, something like that.
Yeah, it's because we're not,
we don't have any, like, goats or...
Can you do the thing where you put a shower head on it
and the pressure from the shower
actually pushes the whole thing.
It's weird. We might as well
go check it out. Who knows?
Some of these move up while others move down
and others move in.
Why? Why?
Why?
The nature of the destruction of Dominus,
the landmass that became the teeth was in a tumultuous destruction
of the final elemental titans on Exandria.
The mass of their annihilation left a perpetual
churning elemental energy throughout the Shattered Islands
that has never calmed.
So they are ever changing, moving.
No one knows why or for what purpose, if there is one.
But it also makes it difficult for it to be put onto paper.
It also makes it difficult for people to want to
brave the dangers of the Fogharton and to drag us into external politics,
which is fine by most of us who live here.
Are the islands alive?
I don't know if they're any more alive
or less alive than any other place in Exandria.
Exandria is alive, in a way.
Right, but the mountain I grew up on doesn't move much.
Maybe it has a little bit more life than others.
Okay.
I'm sure all of these islands are just as safe
as the one that we landed on,
but, Yvon Treravir, the tree,
are there any peoples that protect it
or stand watch over it that we would need to be wary of
or introduce ourselves to or send a note in advance?
Not a note.
There are society...
My god.
Constant.
You won't get it.
The Ascended Host is the largest presence
on the island of Calutha.
What is it? The Ascended Host?
The Ascended Host.
They were the first inheritors of is it? The Ascended Host. The Ascended Host.
They were the first inheritors of the Thief
after the Ascending.
They host their fishing villages,
and simple people who live with and off the land.
Then they also have larger societies and cities,
like the mighty walls of the city Revivenspire on Rookvai,
another bigger island, I believe, currently south of here?
Rook.
Rookvai. Rookvai.
Rivenspire.
But they are good people,
very protective of their cultures and their lands.
So come with an open heart, respect, honesty,
and perhaps they will be welcoming.
Would you come with us if we went to this other island
or are you just sending us on our way?
I, this is my home.
And if I am not here,
those who might need of me and come to find me,
they would not see me and be left with the dangers
of this island without our guardianship.
How often do you get visitors?
I get a few a year, maybe.
Some stay for months, some stay for a few weeks,
some a few years,
depending on what they have to work through.
So it varies.
Do you have anything from the Avantraver?
Oh yeah.
I do not think I do.
Anything from that island, perhaps?
Don't.
She starts rummaging through the chest
and more like trinkets begin to fall.
I do not know.
These are just things I have recovered
from those who have either given me things as a gift
or for trade for some of my furniture,
or I found washed up on the stony beaches.
So I am fortunate.
I do not know why.
Oh, if we do have to teleport there,
it's far easier to succeed with that
if we have something from that location,
or if we have a very strong description,
it would certainly help.
There are many beautiful green trees
everywhere around it.
There are three big mountains.
Three big mountains, that's good.
Does that map, I didn't get a good look at it,
Chet, does the map show that the Traveler has been there?
Nope.
Up to where the island used to be,
that's a strange stop in the middle of the Nau Ocean,
up to Shardborn, to this elbow,
and out to the burned edge,
but we're supposed to go over here.
Not hitting the Vermillion Reef,
which is a floater of danger.
That our ship will definitely avoid.
It feels bad, right?
You see this teleport is not
fully safe?
Well, I think every time we've tried it, almost,
we've almost been ripped into tiny little pieces,
definitely taking quite a bit of damage from it.
We get there eventually.
Yeah, it hurts a little sometimes.
Well, you could get a,
if you want to take time to make repairs to vote,
you could do that.
Skywell!
Sorry.
I know, I think Skywell.
You could try flagging down a Wonderman ship.
The trade ships occasionally go through
if you want to try and get their attention.
I don't know how much time that would take,
if you have how many weeks?
We are on a time.
It's a weeks-long journey to the other island?
No, the journey from here,
it shouldn't be too much different
from where it was on the map.
So I think maybe about, by boat, two to three days.
That's not bad.
Uh-huh, it's just not bad.
Well, I mean.
We've got a while before the machines can be ready.
We've never been there, and also,
it seems like magic is even more weird here
than it has been in Exandria.
That's true.
Skyrim. What if we get
booped into the middle of the ocean?
Where do we, oh yeah,
because what if we try to teleport to the island
and the island's moved?
If you do try to flag down a wandering ship.
Yeah, where would we go to do that?
Go to, there are safer inlets on the northern shore
and one to the southeastern shore.
Here and here. Yes.
We are somewhere over here, I assume.
Closer to the lake.
We're a little bit south of the lake.
The little lake or the big one?
The big one.
The big lake.
So we're pretty close to one of them.
Closer to the northern inlet.
Got it, thanks, Chet.
Good to see you, Leia.
You didn't go far enough.
But you can if you go along the way.
I do not know how long it would be for the Wonderman ship to go by. Not far enough. Fair enough. But you can if you go along the way.
I do not know how long it would be
for the wonder men ship to go by.
If you do go, they'll likely take you
and where you want to go with enough gold
into the captain's hand.
Got it.
But do not flash too much wealth,
because they are likely to find yourselves
waking up beneath the reefs.
That'd be unfortunate for them.
If you want to,
there is a more immediate option,
but it's a bit dangerous.
Oh, what's that one?
We're always down for a little danger.
Yeah, he says a word for them.
Oh no, I would not recommend that.
Let me see, hold on.
She starts going through her stuff again.
She's a young'un. Yeah, she, you know.
Goes underneath and this large club
falls off to the side and she puts it back.
For protection.
Oh.
Pulls out this intricate-looking brass compass
with gems embedded in it.
It's got a crack on the glass, but it still holds there.
We might just be that desperate.
You seem very capable.
Fair.
We give off that vibe, yes.
Very, very, very capable.
This is the Lost Compass of the Dread Captain Novus.
Who? What?
Wow, that's a...
The Dread Captain who? I didn't hear.
Chet is very excited about it.
Lost Compass of the Dread Pirate what?
Dread Captain?
Novus.
Novus?
Now, most islands of the Teeth,
as you know, are on the move,
and the wild magics mess with normal navigation tools.
So experienced ship captains keep a collection of compasses.
Many of them are attuned to different islands.
Some of them have collections of dozens,
if they want to have all of the islands capable.
This compass once belonged to Captain Urru Novus.
Urru, U-R-L-U Novus.
Who was a notorious privateer from Wildemount
that once terrorized the host
under the Wonderment's banner.
His reign of terror was eventually
briefly brought to an end about a hundred or so years ago, I believe,
by a host ambush. They distributed his and his crew's loot as trinkets and prizes. But it seems
that he made some sort of a dark deal, and now him and his ship hunt some of the waters.
He's a ghost. Ghost ship?
Seeking to recollect what they lost.
Ghost ship!
So curses and pacts that resemble these tales
speak to binding compulsory summons
when marked objects fall into their realms.
So I would surmise that placing this object
within the waters, they would come to try and claim it.
A ghost ship would come?
But they'd be mad at us.
And they would want their course back.
Oh, can we give it back to them?
We could just talk to them.
I take a small block of wood
and I start famously starting to copy the compass.
Well, taking the ghost ship,
the Crimson Abyss, it might be an impossibility.
Oh. Oh my god.
As its existence is reliant on the captain's will
and the crew's curse.
However, even the most haunted beings
play by the rules that bind them,
and a captain of renown like Novoss
is open to powerful allies
or mutually beneficial arrangements.
So.
Who cursed in the camp?
So we could summon a ghost ship
and challenge him to an arm wrestling match or something?
Or offer him a bunch of gold?
I have not met him, I do not know.
But maybe?
Who cursed the ship?
I do not know. They returned. But maybe? Who cursed the ship?
I do not know.
All right. They returned.
Either they were cursed or they took a deal.
I got a motorcycle outside.
I hope it's a motorcycle.
It's coming.
Oh, it's coming.
Shh, Brock's got gas.
Now, exciting as it might be,
it is also a very dangerous option.
If time is at the essence, maybe it's important.
You could also try for your dangerous teleporting as well.
It's dangerous because of ghost pirates
that would come and try to kill us.
Is that why? That's why.
I would consider that possibly dangerous,
but maybe you don't.
Maybe they would love you.
I know!
I mean, who's more charming, right?
Maybe I could get a little pirate winch outfit,
you know, and be like,
eugh!
Maybe.
That's as far as my idea goes.
What are the odds on teleporting?
I mean, they're probably...
Did we get a warning about magic being strange here?
Because we talked about teleporting here to begin with.
Can I use my Hunter's Bane to just get a feel
of this compass that she's holding?
Oh, you mean the object?
Yeah, the object.
Yeah, you can do that.
Go ahead and roll for me.
Roll a d20 and add your intelligence modifier for me.
Okay.
13.
17.
17, okay.
As you reach out and touch the compass that she's holding,
you feel your blood and your veins run cold for an instant
and you see flashes of a tumultuous storm.
You see a ship with holes blasting in it from cannon fire.
You see sea spray over the sides of a listing boat
as men scream,
and you see shadows of other ships surrounding it.
You see a bearded dwarf, face scarred, bitter and angry,
frothing at the corner,
his blood splashed on one half of his face,
just shouting his fury to the very gods themselves.
You see him make some sort of curse to the sky.
and you see him make some sort of curse to the sky.
You don't hear the words, you just see his lips move
as a bolt catches him in the forehead.
as a bolt catches him in the forehead.
And he falls to the deck, blood pooling behind him.
And he falls to the deck, blood pooling behind him.
As he lies there looking up, his mouth curls into a smile.
A shadow takes the memory
and you pull back from the compass.
Yeah, yeah.
Yep, it's a pirate ship.
It would be awesome.
Can't believe I'm about to exist.
It looks like it's about a 25% chance
of getting there successfully.
And that's if the magic is not funky-dunky here,
because it is. That's right.
I like the 30% chance with the ghost ship,
personally, at this point.
I love the idea of a ghost ship.
Plus, if it goes wrong, we just have to work on the ghost ship, personally, at this point. I love the idea of a ghost ship. Plus, if it goes wrong,
we just have to work on the ghost ship forever.
Oh, like we'd be forever cursed to be ghosts as well?
The Dread Pirate.
Yeah, I think that's a assumption.
Or we just have to come up with something
that we can offer this Dread Captain Novos.
Laida.
Maybe they want some cookies.
I can start baking.
Can they eat? I don't know. I can want some cookies. I can start baking. Can they eat?
I don't know.
I can make ghost cookies.
Maybe they just want to be asked what they want.
Yeah. Yeah.
Well, you just ask what he wants.
We can all provide many services for them.
Oh, what can you provide?
Ghost orgy.
Have you ever interacted with this dreadread Captain, Elbos?
No, I have not.
This was actually given to me by an individual
that was coming to me for help.
They came across it,
and they felt that they were constantly being chased.
So they gave it to me for safekeeping
to alleviate them, knowing that I would never leave.
Got it, yeah.
Up goes the ship.
So whenever it hits the water,
toot toot, goes the steamboat.
Steamboat Mickey comes to the run.
Toot toot.
Oh god. Has anyone ever encountered
this ship and its crew
and survived to tell the tale?
I do not know.
Well, apparently, I mean,
the people who dropped off the cupids.
There's one.
There's at least one.
Let's do it.
What do we have to lose, you know?
We're all going to die anyway.
Let's do it.
It's a little true.
It's all right.
Speaking of,
Jadana.
About the whole, like... Jirana?
Jirana.
Jirana.
Jirana.
Sorry, you remind me of this old lady.
I'm Jirana.
We're just combining things.
Speaking of this tree that tells you how you die.
Can tell you.
What happens if you've already died?
I do not know.
Hey.
It's less that it tells you how you die,
but offers the path to the end that you're walking.
This tree is uniquely
seeded between life and death,
and its roots reach to the fates of many.
So it can offer guidance in many ways.
Just be wary the questions you ask,
because not all the answers
you may have been wanting to hear.
Okay, well,
I guess we're going to hail down a ghost ship, yeah?
Sure.
Ashton, you feel okay with this?
I'm delighted.
That was effusive.
Do we, we've been taking a short rest this whole time?
Oh, you've had tea and everything and taken a short rest.
Is it?
There was a Titan who died here?
Is that what happened to this place?
There were two Titans.
Did they have names?
They did.
I have to, and she means to look through her book
as I look up my notes.
It's okay.
Find her here. There's a lot of books in this place,
considering it's a toad. I know, I know.
It's a very impressive bookshelf.
You can learn a lot about a person
by what they've got on their bookshelf.
Mm-hmm.
Some people don't have any books on their bookshelf.
That says a lot about them. Yeah.
Rau Shan, the Emperor of Fire.
Rau Shan.
And Kamort, the Empress of Earth.
Oh, those are from the books we've known.
And then what's the other one?
Kamort? Empress of Earth?
Kamort.
Like, Kamorta.
Kamort.
Oh my god.
The Empress of Earth? Camordah,
the city where interesting earth and
gea and volcano.
Volcano gea have been made, yeah.
The city was loosely named off this titan.
Rau Shan was the who?
Emperor of Fire.
Rau Shan was the Emperor of Fire emperor of fire. Rau'shan was the emperor of fire.
No relation to Rai'shan.
No.
Okay.
Who's that?
There are many names in Exandria.
Some of them sound similar, because that happens.
Ancient tongues.
Things have roots, even if you don't know them anymore.
And K'mord was the emperor's foot?
Earth.
Okay. Okay. Better make sure? Earth. Oh. Okay. Okay.
I want to make sure I got those right.
Okay. Okay.
You have a dangerous journey ahead of you.
Just a moment.
I dabble in my free time with
interesting herbal remedies and things. I dabble in my free time with interesting
herbal remedies and things.
She goes back to this rack in the back chamber.
You can see, reaches up and knocks something over.
Immediately shatters on the ground.
Oh no!
I'm mending.
I'll try to mend it, sure.
The jar mends.
The contents are still spilled on the ground.
You have somewhere to put it now. Ah!
That was...
Yes.
Pulls down a couple of these jars
with a red, thick material inside.
Kind of puts them into a little open piece of material.
She's making a little care package, essentially.
Aw.
Puts a couple of small,
thick, brackish-looking vials in there. She's making a little care package, essentially. Aw. Puts a couple of small,
thick, brackish-looking vials in there, sets them inside.
There's a yellowish bottle that,
you can't tell if it's the glass is yellow
or the interior liquid is yellow,
puts that in there.
What looks like an empty vial,
but as she sets it down in there,
it's giving off a little bit of light in the vicinity
and closes it up and comes over.
Who would be the?
Oh yes, thank you so, so much.
So I'm sending you off with two of my best
Reef Moss Balms.
Reef Moss Balms? Moss Balms. Reef moss balms?
Reef moss balms.
Is that like a donut?
What is that?
Oh no.
I could do with a reef moss balm right now.
Two reef moss balms?
Reef moss balms.
A bottle of slick shimmer oil.
Slick shimmer oil. Slick shimmer oil.
Slick shimmer oil.
They do not look
like the most delicious,
but those greenish-yellow portals,
they should help you recover wounds quickly.
The balms, slowly.
They're greater potions of healing.
Just how many?
Two of those.
Oh, balms. Two greater.
Balms are the Reef Moth's balm.
Two greater.
Oh, balms?
C-A-L-M. Balm.
Balm. I was thinking
it's like a dope little bath bomb.
Throw it and go.
Yeah.
And that one that looks empty
is a Vial of cleansing flame.
What is that?
The bombs you put onto someone who is wounded a bit
and over a short period of time,
it will recover some of their wounds.
The slick shimmer oil, when put upon your body for a time,
makes you a little easier to deflect
certain weapons from your skin.
Or to be grabbed, you are a bit slippery.
Cool. Right.
Those brackish potions help you recover health quickly.
And the vial of cleansing flame,
you throw it at somebody and it burns them a little bit,
but also cleanses them of a number of maladies
that might be holding them.
Oh, wow.
Like a curse or something? Yeah.
More like icy hot.
Okay.
That guy is totally...
Maladies of a venereal nature.
Oh my god.
It stinks, it stinks.
Oh, it's so gross.
That's very much what it is, yeah.
Hopefully these will be helpful. These are stinks, it stinks. Oh, it's so good. That's very much what it is, yeah. Hopefully these will be helpful.
These are amazing, thank you.
Thank you so much.
You know, while we've been here,
I've baked you a few tea cookies.
Oh my goodness.
I do not have bakery goods here very often.
Been decades, at least.
Oh, well, they're fresh from my stomach.
Very strange, but I appreciate it.
Hey, and we're in a stomach right now,
so it's like double tummy.
Double tummy.
Double tummy.
You are extremely funny for a small metal person.
Well, thank you.
I also, like you, I dabble in therapy and helping people.
I don't, if I'm being honest,
I don't think I'm very good at it.
What makes you say that?
Well, I haven't really helped anybody.
I'm good at healing immediate injuries and wounds
and that sort of stuff, but I'm not very good at...
I'm getting the feeling that I haven't really existed
as a person, and so I can't really identify
with a lot of human feelings.
Is this true?
I mean, there are definite
truths in there, yes. But, I mean. Don't sugarcoat it.
Yeah, now it's true.
FCG, you've had a lot.
You experience all the same emotions that we do.
I'm starting to.
Yeah, maybe it just is going to take
a little bit more experience.
Like riding a bike. You freak out sometimes.
I do.
Fear, passion.
Stress.
I just feel like, you know, when I talk to someone like you,
you've lived such a life and you've had so many,
as you said, ups and downs,
that you can share your wisdom and knowledge with people
and help them get through what they're going through.
And I'm starting to realize that I don't have
any of those experiences, and so it's hard to really.
She reaches forward, and this massive,
ancient turtle woman cups your head
and her massive calloused hands,
with rings adorning the fingers,
and she just holds your head and looks into your eyes
in a way that is
welcoming and
forgiving, in a way that you haven't really felt,
especially of somebody that you just met.
And then she looks at you with this gentle smile.
I can see within you that you carry
deep grief as well.
I do not think that you are incapable of helping others,
but you also have to let others help you, too.
Perhaps your friend's not the only one
seeking this tree.
Oh.
Oh, I need the help, too.
Oh.
Okay. Thank you. Maybe in time, if you wish, you can come back and we could talk for a bit.
Like a session?
If you'd like.
That would be wonderful.
Yeah.
Maybe I'll take the ghost ship back when we're done.
They'll probably ferry us back and forth
wherever we go, right?
Probably.
We'll be besties by the end of the journey.
Yeah, you'll be best mates. They'll love us.
We're weirdos. They're ghosts. We'll get besties by the end of the journey. It'll be best mates. They'll love us. We're weirdos.
They're ghosts.
We'll get along great.
Mm-hmm.
All right, yeah, I'll come back.
Thank you.
I've done nothing but tell you things
you probably already knew
and just wouldn't believe yourself to hear them.
I'll remember that.
Definitely knew you said it several times,
just definitely knew, but it took finally.
She's so wise. Yes.
Sometimes the closer you are to a person,
the harder it is for your words to penetrate the shell.
That's fair.
What's your secret to such long life?
Do you have a tea that you enjoy?
Any herbal remedies?
I'm just looking to get as much mileage
out of this bitch as I can.
You said that out loud, I understand.
This bitch. This bitch, meaning his body. His body. Oh, I understand. This bitch. This bitch,
meaning his body.
Oh, I misunderstood.
This time I zipped the tracks.
This bitch. Oh boy.
Yeah, he would never.
Yeah, it's all pretty likely. Chet is about
the same age, potentially, as you are.
Unless Chet's years are different.
Are your 400 years really 1,200 years or something?
No, I think ours, I think, I don't know.
I also lost track.
Did you just pull gnome skin apart and show wolf fur
or pull wolf fur apart and show a gnome chest?
Tracksuit.
Whatever you want, baby.
Yeah, just tracksuit.
Just velvet.
Tracksuit apart and show gnome fur.
Because I keep it tuned up.
A lot of it.
Maybe the chest looks the same.
It kind of does. It's a shame. He's a very hairy man. Maybe the chest looks the same. It kind of does.
He's a very hairy man.
The wolf requires a high metabolism.
Well.
Grabs a small vial off the side
of her little herbalism corner and goes,
puts this into your hand and closes your fingers
and leans in to your ear and goes,
this is for stamina.
Oh!
Oh, that's not a...
It's not normally something I...
She just pats your hand.
I love her.
For the fight.
For the physical fight.
It's for the fight.
I mean, it can be a little bit.
Just give you a weird pill cocktail,
you can get at 7-Eleven.
Yep. 12-hour energy.
Redline, we never give up on the fight.
Yes.
Yes, redline.
Were you there when that happened to me in Texas?
No, never mind.
I don't know if you were there in Texas when that happened.
Well, if you do have this teleportation ability
and you need to know the place you've now seen my home,
if ever you need to return for guidance in here,
you know how to find me.
Right. Yeah.
Maybe it'll work, because you're not on an actual island.
Maybe it's different,
bamfing into Taurus's mouth.
It is a home?
Yeah.
Thank you.
Of course.
I don't know how teleport works,
so you tell me otherwise.
Honestly, we don't either.
Maybe best to go ship is done then.
But good luck.
I'm always so bad at saying goodbyes, but.
Just to see you later then. See you again.
Until the next time you come and visit.
Yeah.
I'm going to take out
salt and pepper shakers
that I borrowed from the Museum Heist.
You seem to be a collector as well,
and I just thought you might need
to add these to your collection.
Oh.
Thank you very much.
You're welcome.
You've already brought me many flavors
I've missed in some time, so I appreciate that.
In my age, it's the simple things and joys
that really give meaning to your day.
Thank you. Of course. simple things and joys that really give meaning to your day.
Thank you. Of course.
I mean, you'll probably break them immediately,
but that's okay.
Well, you've already fixed one jar, I can just.
We can just keep fixing it. Yeah.
What happens to all the stuff when your house jumps?
Oh, it's all hooked and bolted.
Oh, wow.
She goes and grabs some of the paintings
and pulls on it, and you see it.
Wow.
It causes quite a ruckus.
That's quite nice.
You just cupboard up the teapot and everything,
and that all stays wedged in?
Mm-hmm. This place is so cool.
I know, I'm making notes.
I love it.
She goes,
well, I mean, she points to one of the rings in her finger
and she takes one of the cups
and shatters it on the ground
and then puts her hand out and the ring mends it.
Oh. Oh, that's great.
I spend a lot of my time fixing.
All right.
Good to have a hobby.
Another gift somebody gave me.
That's a great gift.
It's been very, very helpful.
What a wonderful life
you've put together for yourself.
I am rather fond of it.
And I get to meet some of the most interesting people.
Well, we'll say hi to Keyleth for you.
Please do.
And I guess we have a date at the water?
Yeah, anywhere. To the shore.
Will you point us in the closest direction of the shore?
I could take you there.
Great. Oh, yeah.
I'm going to grab hold of some.
Hold tight.
There are, and she points out,
seven different handles around the chamber.
How convenient.
That doesn't seem necessary.
I'm going to scoot back to wherever she's sitting and
You all clutch on.
No.
Toresh to the North Shore!
And gives a pat-pat on one of the walls.
You all hear and feel this.
Go ahead. That is amazing.
He's surfing it.
Surfing the subway.
Surfing the subway.
Hit the ceiling.
There's this massive jolt.
All of you are to the floor of the furniture,
holding on, and then it gets lighter.
Oh my god.
Oh! The vomit comet?
Boo!
Boo!
Go, go, go!
Shoo! Up again.
Oh god.
Oh no.
The planters are shaking.
Shoo!
Boo!
Shoo!
A third time.
Oh!
Ooh!
Boo! Ah! She's just going. A third time. Oh!
She's just going
laughing the whole time like Willy Wonka in the tunnel.
Oh my god.
Oh my god.
Boom!
One final impact.
You all take a minute, your hair thrashed,
like a deep breath.
You can see bits of furniture have broken and cracked.
She stands up a bit.
We're here.
And adjusts some of the sweat on her face.
There's the furniture sticking out of my arm.
Oh no!
Check, you're already bleeding everywhere.
It's okay.
It's becoming a hot tub.
It's okay. Yeah. We'll stay here behind the treeline,
and I guess let us know if you need help.
Okay. Thank you.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Of course.
Good luck.
Ah! Thank you.
Doris hits the floor,
and you see the opposite side where the entry doorway,
it's not even like, there aren't doors,
but you see there's an open doorway
where it would lead outside and it's just pitch black.
Now you can see the lips from the inside of the mouth
curl open.
Beyond that, you can immediately see these clusters
of trees and these little sand and,
it's like dark black sand and pebble paths
that lead to what you can already hear
is a nearby breaking shoreline.
Yeah. All right, let's go.
Let's go wrestle up some pills.
Let's do it. I'm going to hang back
whereas everyone leaves just a second.
I wanted to wait to ask, just,
how do you grieve if you don't know
what was taken from you?
Often,
you don't focus on the loss
and try and concentrate on what you've gained since.
Maybe answers will come in time.
Maybe they won't, and they will never go away.
That I've figured out.
But it only weighs as much as you're willing to give it. And it will never go away. That I've figured out.
But it only weighs as much as you're willing to give it.
Perhaps you fill yourself with a happier weight.
Well, I guess we'll see how broken I am.
Ah!
I am perpetually surrounded by broken things.
Everything can be mended, given time.
That could be true.
Thanks for FCG, too.
Oh god, who will bring him back?
I look forward to it.
Oh.
Cool boat, all right.
As you collect Ashton and begin to step your way
towards the fog-shrouded shoreline,
clutching the odd cracked compass within your grasp.
The shadow of the massive toad behind you
as its mouth curls to a close.
We'll finish the episode there.
Fuck!
That was sick!
That was so deep!
That was so bad!
You are fucking insane!
Yeah.
Bye, toad.
Come on!
That was fun.
We could spend the whole rest of the campaign inside.
I know. I want to live in a giant boat.
A living room?
Yeah, dude, she's my favorite Miyazaki NPC.
Oh, wow.
Is that where the snail and Dr. Doodle
have been trying to remember?
They lived in a snail shell?
Oh, good.
So cool.
Or James and the Giant Peach.
This is cooler than a peach.
So much cooler than a peach.
Yeah, it's cooler than a peach.
Yeah, that's very much, yeah.
Fuck.
Love y'all.
Thank you so much.
Love you, man.
We'll pick up there next episode.
Thank you all so much for joining us.
We love you very much,
and it's a Thursday.
No, it's not.
