Hi again, Critters, it's Sam Riegel, and you're listening to Part 2 of this episode from the Critical Role Podcast Network.
If you haven't checked out part 1 yet, pause this now and head over there first.
Otherwise, enjoy part 2.
All right, friends, are we ready to jump back in?
As you all have entered this facsimile of the chamber and the depths of Cognosa,
the odd, fleshy chunks and architecture merged and changing,
This living city space massive around you, you hear a voice.
Sounds like someone's drinking tea.
I warned you to leave well enough alone.
But the mighty nine never knows when to quit, do you?
You saddle yourselves with this burden.
Always proving yourself, there's no riddle you can.
Can't brute force.
Don't you get tired of it?
Laboring as hard as you do.
How good would it feel to let go of obligations?
Sense, maybe Lucian had a point.
You watch as a light flares from above.
And suddenly the stone slab that you all stand on quakes.
cracks and lifts off the ground.
About a hundred or so feet off of the shifting fleshy floor.
The slab itself shatters in places and pulls away.
The centerpiece that you all kind of gather on,
only now about 50 by 80 or so feet,
itself kind of lists slightly to one side,
causing you all to have to brace a bit
as you all stand there and gather your strength and expertise
the light begins to get closer.
As there you see above, two Caleb widow gasts.
Just gently emitting a yellowish light
begin to glide down from above.
You watch as they both look at each other
and then down at the rest of you.
Can we tell if one of them is the real Caleb?
Are they identical?
They look fairly identical
if you'd like to make a perception
or inside check.
Would you say the
C and Bill of the visibility is still up?
Has it been an hour?
It's probably just barely still up.
26.
26.
Perception?
Or insight?
Oh, two.
You get the sense that this like
yellowish energy that's flickering
is pulsing stronger
in one, where the other
seems to be almost a lingering
element. You're uncertain, specifically what that means, but one of them has a stronger
yellow aura around it. I don't know if that means one.
Which one has the stronger one on the right? On the left? Links.
Which one? Which one? We'll say the one to the right.
Is the more stronger yellow?
Mm-hmm. Okay. You then watch as they both begin flicking their
fingers for a second. And their images shift from one into three each. Are any of them missing a scarf?
Nine. But then, Caleb, what would you like to do? The room grows dim and stifling, and you feel your breath
begin to slow
as I cast ninth level spell time stop
The rest of you sense
For a brief moment
The very passage of reality
Become still
Before your consciousness is frozen as well
In this pocket of frozen time
Caleb, what do you do?
First
I cast fire shield
And the twins begin to glow
Second, I cast level seven, crown of stars.
Small motes of duneumantic energy begin to spin in the air around me.
Then I reach out my hand and point down slope from Veth where she stands,
and a portal opens up before her just below.
And an identical one pops into existence high above.
in an out-of-reach place.
Then I cast level one-spelled grease.
Beneath her,
two feet of distance between her
and this shimmering doorway, frozen, and time.
At this point,
yellow hands of energy seem to come from that aura
and fold in front of your chest
in the middle of this frozen moment.
And this entity is going to use
arcane ego.
To do that, it restores a ninth level spell slot to you.
And then it counts down to an eight.
You may continue.
I surge in height, look to Veth, and cast ninth level spell.
Wish I localize time around Veth's person and advance her through her pregnancy.
What?
And using my keen mind, bring her precisely to the moment that halflings come do.
Warwick!
The entity is going to use its reaction to overcharge spell and increase the DC of the grease by five.
And with that effect taking hold on Beth Brannato, time stock ends,
and she begins to slide the two feet down towards a hole in space.
In this instant, Veth Brannato,
You are impacted with a pain of labor pains
like you hadn't expected with your previous child.
No way.
This is insane.
And immediately begin to slide back on the grease.
I need you to make a dexterity saving throw
to try and avoid the grease.
However, while you are in labor,
you have disadvantage on dexterity saving throws.
But advantage on strength checks and saving throws.
Disadvantage?
Yes.
On decks,
this is something the rules were actually just uttered for.
I rolled a two.
So 13, as I scream in ungodly pain.
You all of a sudden glance back as Veth screams
and you watch her vanish into this portal.
And on one of the broken elements of slab
that had cracked and then thrust away
and floating in space,
you're now about 300 feet away from the rest of the rest.
to this troop on a distant platform on your knees, doubling over in labor pain.
And now what will you do?
Beat your old friend into submission or help your other friend.
Make it safely through.
I don't hesitate at all.
I reach out and I cast Arcane Gate at 500 feet right next to Veth.
Great.
Counter-spell.
At one level?
We'll do
six.
All right, go ahead and
roll that
and add your intelligence
to see if you can manage
to dispel his arcane gate.
Oh, my goodness, I don't worry.
All my stuff is everywhere.
It's 17 plus a really high number.
Your arcane gate dissipates,
and with this aggressive maneuver,
I need you all to roll initiatives.
I've got duplicity.
I invoke duplicity.
The same time he did the arcane gate.
I'll allow it, but that'll be the final simultaneous action.
Were you guys ready?
Yeah.
I got 23.
Whoa.
All right.
22?
Whoa.
All righty.
15?
Hold up.
So that's 20 to 15.
One of us got 19 and one of us got 18.
Right.
Caleb one.
Caleb two.
All right.
And then Beau at 15.
Are there three, Caleb?
Caleb's no.
Right now you see six, because both of them have a mirror image.
And right now, you're not sure which one is the real one of all six of them.
That's cool.
So that's Boat 15.
Who's 14 to 10?
10.
All right.
Four.
Seven.
All right.
And, all right, so let's see here.
Vethyasha, Caleb 1, Caleb 2, Beau Ford, Jester, is what I have.
have? Yeah. And with that, Veth, you are at the top of the initiative order. You are about
300 feet away. There are small broken platforms of floating stone out through the ether and the
space that are slowly shifting and moving, but your friends are so far away. What do you do?
Yeah. Pretty much. I breathe.
Don't push.
I've done this before. I can do it again.
Just reach Caleb, no matter what it takes.
I'm going to cast shape water and use the water that came out of me.
You started this.
To purify the water and cause it to form in a simple shape.
It's going to sort of form like a basket of water that just sort of hovers there.
Under you?
Under me.
I'm going to do a water berth.
I'll get ready in position.
I've got this.
Don't worry about me.
Just worry about Caleb.
And by the way, Ford, thank you for trying.
Oh.
Also, don't think any less of me if I curse your name specifically this whole time.
That's your turn, all right.
Yasha, you're up.
All right.
I would like to rage.
And I also would like to let out a battle cry.
And with that, where is it?
Where did you go?
What did you come?
That's right.
Can't afford that?
Everybody gains advantage on attack rolls and saving throws until my next turn.
That's great.
And I would like to.
They're floating?
Yes.
Shit.
All right, I'm just going to try to work my way closer to them and get underneath.
Okay.
Just be at the ready.
Yep.
You move underneath them at the ready.
You still have an action.
Okay.
You could pop your wings if you want.
Up to you.
Because I only did.
Yes, let's do that.
Sorry, I thought I did something else.
Yes, I'm going to bamf out my wings.
All right.
With that, your wings are at the ready, and your attacks once per turn do that additional damage.
Intense.
All right.
So at the ready down below, blade their wings out.
You are holding firm.
Great.
With that, it comes to one of the Caleb's turn.
Caleb, what would you like this Caleb to do?
Yeah, simple.
I reach my hand and point towards Ford and turn him hopefully into an orca.
Ford, I'd like you to go ahead and make a, is it a charisma saving throw on that?
I believe that is a wisdom.
It's been a minute.
What is he doing?
He's polymorphing Ford into a whale.
Yeah.
There we go.
It is a wisdom saving throw from you, Ford, please.
Come on, Ford.
Come on.
25.
Yes.
That is a success?
Something about John Grobin or whether it was a head.
It says my husband has a gigantic schlong.
All right.
That Caleb finishes its turn then?
Yeah.
Very well.
The other Caleb.
What would that Caleb like to do?
Before he does, I would like to use my first legendary action this round.
Excuse me?
To use quick in mind and return my reaction to me.
Oh, gosh, darn it.
Did Caleb one strike first or Caleb two?
Actually, you would get your reaction back at the top of your turn.
At the top of my turn?
Yep, so you're good.
Okay, instead of that, I use my legendary action
rapid cast
and I will cast polymorph on Ford
What is happening?
And use level
So it was two legendary actions
Yes, level six
Ford I'd like you to make another wisdom saving throw
Come on, you can beat everybody
Liam loves you
Kail doesn't in this moment
Gonna use counterspell
Oh
Let's go
Level five
It's gone
All right, excellent.
All right, so now it is this Caleb's turn.
The second Caleb looks down and sees the angel of death down below
and moves as far away as he can get from his twin,
looks down at her and uses level seven
and a shimmering cube of force begins to form around her.
Wait, who?
Jasha.
Forsk Gays Yasha?
Yes.
This is where you roll in that time.
What do I, this is, can I get out?
This is not okay.
Wisdom save.
I know.
Oh, wisdom save?
Hilarious.
Yes.
You're going to roll in that time.
One time.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Hold on.
So, as written, the prison is created.
And any creature that is completely inside the cage area is
trapped. You do not get a save. If you have
a means of teleporting out,
then you can attempt a charisma saving throw
to escape it. It is not concentration.
It lasts for an hour.
It is.
20 feet on each side.
Oh, shit. Okay, I was going to see if maybe like
my wings were longer.
You are locked
in a cage of force. And there's no safe.
There's no safe. There's no safe.
Okay. Do you have any teleportation?
No.
No flying for you,
little bird. And there's
nothing you can do now.
Bonus action.
Bonus action.
This.
Caleb has no bonus action.
All right.
Oh, which one was that?
Caleb two has no bonus action. The one with a dimmer light?
Caleb two has no. The one with the brighter light.
The one with the brighter light has no bonus action.
You see a faint, like, halo of, like, gray beads hovering around its head.
Wait, which one?
So the dimmer one is real.
So focus on him.
Maybe?
Yeah, because the other one doesn't have a bonus action.
And Caleb one was dimmer?
No.
The first one that went?
Okay, one.
Brighter?
Brighter.
Oh, with the halo.
Yeah.
All right.
So for that, their turn is done.
Bo, you're up.
Okay.
Veth is 300 feet away in labor on...
You got...
I'm strong, independent woman.
I can do this on my own.
I'm more worried about what else could happen to you if you're not there.
If someone else isn't with you.
You're trying to go for Veth?
Okay.
I'm fine.
I'm going to try.
I'm going to try and get to Caleb one.
Okay.
The brighter Caleb.
The brighter Caleb.
They're floating.
Yeah.
How far up are they floating?
About 50 or so feet.
Are there any platforms that I can get there?
There are a couple of higher above them.
Can I parkour up and try and get to...
It'll be a difficult athletic or athletics checked.
Your call.
You have advantage.
I do have advantage.
Yeah, we're going to...
I'm saving throws.
Oh, attack.
Sorry, sir.
Yeah, we're going to do an athletics check.
I'm going to try and get up there.
All right.
Go ahead and roll for me.
Okay.
Okay.
That is going to be 20 total.
20 total.
You scramble up onto one of the platforms.
You barely get there.
There might be a direction you can
leap it will require another roll. Step of the wind.
My jump distance is doubled.
Then you do not have to roll for this one. Yes. Yeah.
There's the expositor I know.
Shut the fuck up and I'm going to run.
Take out my staff and pop pop as I come down.
So you leave.
Brighter Caleb. All right. Go for it. Roll with your tax.
All right. Um, yeah, we're going to start with my belabor.
My belaborer, my staff.
So attack number one with advantage.
That is great.
That is 29 total to hit.
That hits, however.
We're going to go ahead and see if it hits one of the duplicates.
It does.
So you watch us one of the Caleb duplicates.
Fine.
Attack number two.
23 total.
22 total.
Let's see if it hits duplicate.
It does.
Second duplicate vanishes.
There's now the singular.
Ceyl'Lum.
Singular Caleb.
Um...
Okay.
Another key point.
Flurry of blows.
You used your bonus action for step of the wind, didn't you?
Yes, it did. But I can.
Hang on. Wait.
Hang on.
Hmm. Buy extra reactions.
Read faster.
Shut up.
Ha ha ha ha ha.
Okay.
Okay. All right, fine. Done.
You land on the ground, three-point landing. No impact to you. The ground kind of cracks under your feet.
You managed to knock away the two images floating around the brighter glowing Caleb,
the other still having the three around it. That finishes Bose go. Ford, you're up with Jester on deck.
With Star Razor extended, I take off at a sprint towards both of the Caleb's,
and at the last minute I disappear using my bonus action to cast Misty.
step and I will appear inside the force cage with Yasha.
I'll slowly turn and look at the Caleb's and go,
minefroa, and I'm gonna use Thunderstep, and if you are willing,
we're getting the fuck out of here.
Okay.
I don't know if that force cage is within
50 feet of Eiler of the Caleb's.
I'd say it's below them about, it starts about 30 feet below them.
Great, they're fine.
They're fine.
Well, first, in order to teleport out of the cage,
you have to succeed on a charisma saving throw.
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
Both of you.
He's so charismatic.
Both of you?
Babe, you're so charismatic.
Oh, my God.
This is it.
You got this, Ashley.
Here.
I think for this, because he's casting the spell,
I'll allow it to be a singular role that it has to be you for.
So your charisma saving throw is from both of you.
So either you both succeed or you both fail?
I'm so sorry, Ashley.
it's only a 35.
The two of you apparate,
cacophonist's explosion of sound and thunder.
The stone slab itself cracks a little further
from the impact, but you're both free.
The force cage kind of dissipates no longer useful.
Stop attacking your friends!
All right.
Zephyne's your turn forward.
Jester, you're up with Veth on deck.
Okay, all my duplicates that are next to me,
I'm going to send us all out in, like,
just scabble.
to try to be near everyone else and I'm gonna cast dimension door.
Yeah.
All right.
And get to Veth.
You appear next to Beth in the further platform.
I got you. I can be the best to know you've ever seen.
Let's get this baby out.
Yes. Yes.
You're a healer, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
What do I do? Do I push? Do I not push?
Push.
I'm pushing.
He, he, he, he, hoo.
He, he, ooh.
It's just like a dildo.
It just comes out instead of going in.
Folks, a baby is just like a dildo.
What are we doing?
To a minute, Taur.
I know you can take this.
Oh my God.
Okay.
I'm going to push really hard.
If the dungeon master will allow it.
Crowning of stars.
I will cast, I will cast Thunderwave from inside my ovaries.
I'm going to try to expel the baby very quickly.
This may have been a mistake.
I got it.
Everything about this game may have been a mistake.
It's going to come out really fast, Jessica.
You've got to catch it.
Okay.
Make a strength saving throw with advantage.
What if you birth it and it's another Caleb?
That's an 18.
It's a strong try.
Wait, don't you have advantage?
No, it wasn't as an advantage.
Never mind.
Baby is holding firm.
You also let loose
sound.
You shiver.
You shiver and
you move on to the next.
Don't you be embarrassed that things happen, okay?
Is that your time?
Help.
Look, we knew.
I'll consider that your action.
I think so.
I'll use the rest of my action to
just tell Caleb,
resist whatever this is.
I know you're in there.
Listen to your friends.
It's us.
All right.
I'd like you to make a persuasion check for me.
Persuasion check.
Uh, seven.
You shout into the air, the sound of moving wind and cracking stone around you.
The shouts of your friends in battle.
Your words fall in unheard.
But he gave him your role.
So you guys can do the same.
That brings us to Yasha.
You are free, blade-ready.
Wings out, what do you want to do?
All right, I'm going to fly up to the Caleb's.
Yes.
Now, which one has the circle of stars?
The brighter yellow aura.
Caleb one.
Caleb one.
Who doesn't have any duplicates anymore, or a mirror image.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And this is the one with legendary actions.
Okay, correct.
So we think he's the batty?
All right, I am going to take a swing.
Oh, it might not be the one with the legendary actions.
Never mind. They ignore me.
We don't know.
We don't know.
We don't know, we don't know.
So debatable. I am going to take a swing at Caleb.
Go for it. We're intact.
Okay.
It no longer has any mirror images.
Okay.
Good enough. Should be.
22.
22 is a hit?
Go ahead and roll damage.
I think I have advantage. Can I roll it? I can roll again?
Yeah, go roll again.
You're shouting.
Okay, that's...
Natural 20? No. No.
That's fine. Roll damage.
And you get to add your radiant damage on that, if you like.
Yes. Okay.
three plus D8.
Okay.
Okay, that's all right.
That's all right.
It's not great.
Seven.
Eight.
Um, eight.
Hold on.
I got to do some math.
12 plus 10, which is 22.
22 plus 13, which is 35.
Plus 20, which is 55.
55.
That's my first hit.
Your, your blade streaks upward and cards.
through the glowing Caleb.
A blood spatter
of deep red scatters across your
blade and him
across the ground below as a heavy blow
brings them to near half hit points
and one strike. What is the number?
55. 55, yeah.
Also, I'm going to make a roll here.
I don't like that sound.
I'm going to use legendary resistance.
To roll again.
A two to a one.
It goes both ways.
Correct.
So, you watch as the aura
detaches slightly from Caleb from the impact
and some weird-looking stretched,
ethereal, yellow, staticky entity
is temporarily pulled from Caleb's body.
Oh, oh, okay.
Okay, so maybe.
brighter Caleb is real Caleb.
It's a thing.
Hit the thing.
It's out of him.
Okay.
Second hit, second hit, I swing a yellow weird thing.
On attack once.
Let's go.
Okay, okay, okay.
Come on, come on.
Okay, that is 23.
23 hits.
I believe.
23, succeeds.
Okay, so, all right.
We know a 22 hits, right?
Damn, that's not great.
Ten.
Forty-three points of damage.
Three points of damage.
Okay.
The impact, then, it screams out, and all of you hear in your mind is this like, yeah!
Screeching static sound, and the entity snaps back into Caleb.
It seems that damage to Caleb on a high enough level can knock it free, and damage to it, knock it back in.
It's going to knock it out, knock it out.
Okay.
Okay.
Yasha, you still have a bonus action and movement, if you'd like.
Okay.
Stay base to base with them.
Yeah, I'm sentinel business.
You got it.
All right, finishing Yasha's toe.
Yeah.
It is now Caleb One's turn.
What does Caleb One do?
Caleb One will cast telekinesis.
Actually, you know what?
Sorry, before we get to that, we do have the first layer action.
back after the first round of combat.
Instead,
you all begin to see
smaller illusions of other
Caleb's moving quickly in your periphery
vision. You turn to see them,
but they're gone and now they're at the corners of it.
Until you manage to succeed on an attack roll on your turn,
your attack rolls are at disadvantage.
Is that negated by Yasha's advantage on attack rolls?
It's done now.
I only had for one... I know. I know.
Player action complete with the lingering allusions floating around.
It is now your go, Kayla.
I actually changed my mind.
I cast polymorph.
I'll use my free use of it today on Yasha.
Yasha, if you can make a wisdom saving throw for us, please.
Come on.
I add nothing.
Please.
Oh, a saving throw, actually?
Okay.
Dirty 20.
Plus anything?
That's it.
The DC, unfortunately, is to.
What do you turn her into?
Yasha turns into a big death metal orca, black and white.
Oh, dear.
Everything's fine.
Orcas don't have great dexterity on land.
You are now.
You're a massive death metal orca.
Yeah, that's why that happens.
Oh boy.
That cooled me down.
That's good, actually.
Now we have, we have damp girls at each table.
Isn't that right, Sam?
Caleb clicks his boots together.
The storm rider boots.
Electricity blasts out of them.
Shocking Beauregard as I shoot up another 60 feet
to a different chunk of stone higher up.
And as a bonus action,
one of the moats of dunamanic energy
streaks down towards Beauregard.
Cool.
All right.
So how much damage does Beauregard take for the boots?
4D8.
4D8.
Would this be considered a
projectile?
This would be considered an AEOE, a blast.
So do I have a duct save here?
You just take it.
I just take it?
I just take it.
18. Oh, let's see.
It's been a minute since we've done these boots, so let's see.
Oh, it's a deck save for them?
Storm rider boots suffer lightning damage.
It doesn't mention...
Yeah, you just take the damage.
Whenever you enter within a hostile, five-fied-bostolic creature, they just suffer the damage.
However, however.
If you had hit you and then fell down below, so you could fly down to her and then rock it up if you wanted.
As long as I can use, it's 90 feet of movement if I use the first chunk of it to get to her.
Nah, I'll just go higher.
And before I blast off, I'll use my bonus action to send that crown of stars dunamanic moat.
Stryker for the damage that I just did.
So you take no damage from the blast, but you do roll to attack her with demote.
Yes, it was 22.
22, does I hit your AC?
Oh, to hit?
Sorry.
Yeah.
Sorry.
Sorry.
That's okay.
That's pretty good.
That's 13 plus.
It's 27.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right, go ahead and roll.
There's nothing I can do to the project.
It's not.
It is technically a projectile.
Oh, you can catch it?
Yeah, can I?
Due to manic energy.
22 damage.
Otherwise.
Yeah.
Can I deflect missiles?
It is a missile.
It is a missile.
It is a range magical well.
Let's go. Let's go.
Okay.
I will use my reaction to deflect and catch the missile,
but if I'm hit by a range weapon attack,
I can use a key point to send it back.
If you do enough resistance to have it do no damage.
So go ahead and roll to see how much you prevent.
Wait, what I'm... Okay, that's good.
I'm trying to remember what...
My feature here, I rolled...
Hang on.
It's been a minute.
Yeah, ranges of...
If you just have the damage you take
from the attack is reduced.
1D10 plus...
Okay, I rolled D10, sorry.
Plus 25.
Oh, so that's...
Oh, okay.
Yeah, it was 202 damage.
So you completely catch the star
that was thrown at you.
Throw it back?
Go for it, roll an attack.
Yes.
Adding your proficiency and your dexterity.
Can I use this D20 that I just rolled?
I'll allow it.
All right.
So that is going to be, it's a ranged attack,
which is actions, hold.
I rolled a 17, so 17 plus a lot.
Yeah, that succeeds.
Oh, oh, oh.
You take another 20.
11. So 28.
You take 22 points of your own damage
as your star is thrown back at your face.
Wowzers.
With that, the entity that was torn free
seems to brim at the edge of Caleb
and on that initiative is going to use
well, let's see.
It's going to use manifest to the realm.
It brings two of its arms up
as you now see multiple arms reaching
and holding onto Caleb from underneath.
And as it puts its arms outward,
you feel the static in your mind,
some alien language that you can't understand,
kind of streaking through.
And one of the nearby floating bits of rock
near the two of you
goes rocketing towards you, Jester.
I need you to make a dexterity-saving throw.
Deflict missiles.
Okay.
Dodge, Dula, dodge.
No, l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-oh.
Oh, wait, I finished because...
Oh, no, it's gone.
Nine.
Nine.
Nine.
Which is a success here in Berlin.
Jester, you take 55 points of bludgeoning damage
as this platform slams into you and pushes you
back to the slab where the rest of your friends are.
You barely pull out of the way.
It knocks me all the way back to everyone else.
Yes.
He wants you away from me.
No.
I was 300 feet away.
Yeah. Do you want to try and get off of it halfway through it?
That sounds like a loaded question.
It's up to you.
If you want to try and push your way, wrench your way from it to try and step onto one of the other platforms partway through, I'll allow you to do that with a, I'll say, an acrobatics check.
Okay.
Beat of 15.
B to 15?
Yeah, why not?
If I don't, I'm going to fall off into the void forever.
Well, no, there's like boiling flesh and teeth below you.
Okay, great.
You pull away and try and leap, but it catches the back of your heel,
and you spin and fall, tumbling down.
You take from the falling impact.
13 points of bludgeoning damage are prone,
and the ground is beginning to try and tear and eat at you.
The entity, the ego leech, shifts back into K.
It's not Caleb's two terms.
Caleb, too, going to do?
Ego Leach.
Ego Leach.
Okay.
I would like to use, Caleb, one will use rapid cast, my legendary action, to cast telekinesis,
and rapidly yank the other twin up to myself.
He lands on the ground, pulls out a familiar transmuter stone,
and shoves it against his twins' chest, the rock shatters to bits.
Caleb, who had looked haggard and rough, stands tall,
singes and bruises moving away, and he is healed to full, I believe.
Yeah, destroyed the transmuter stone to heal Caleb would have,
back to full.
Familiar stone?
You've seen it before. I've carried it everywhere.
Oh, God.
It's fine.
That was Caleb, too? Dimmer, Caleb.
Timmer, Caleb.
Took another Caleb transmuter stoned him.
Healed him.
with his own Transmeter Stone,
healed Caleb one.
Healed Caleb one.
Bo, it's your turn.
Hold on.
Ah.
Uh.
Okay.
G's Louise.
Is there ground beneath the Caleb's, by the way?
Are they, like, floating in this...
They're floating up near a platform that's, say, three platforms up.
There's all these kind of broken parts of the slab that are in different places in space.
Which is how far now?
One of them is about 30 feet up.
Another one's about 20 feet above that.
there wants 30 feet above that.
So it's like a large series of jumps to try and get there.
Yeah, we're going to go.
We're going to get there.
We're going to step of the wind again.
That's going to double my movement speed.
I have a 70 foot movement speed,
so it's going to double it along with my jump distance to 140 feet.
All right.
I'd like you to make an acrobatics check.
Step of the wind.
Yeah, make an acrobatics check to get up onto these platforms.
You're still leaping to these at 30 feet, 20 feet.
15.
Nope, 16.
16?
16.
You get to the first one,
the second one,
and you're leaping now
to try and catch the guys up top.
Double a jump distance.
Exactly, which means you can get to them
without having to worry about any further academic.
The acrobatics check connotates you climbing to the top.
Yeah.
So now?
Am I there?
Yeah.
Here we go.
Pop-pop.
Yes.
I was so polite.
Here we go.
Pop-pop.
Pop-pop.
Okay, so wait,
brighter.
Breiter, Caleb is the one.
that we saw, the yellow spectral goo come out of him.
I'm going to go for that one first with my first attack.
Go ahead and roll for an attack.
Wait, I don't have an advantage anymore.
No.
Start over.
Yeah, that's really good.
That is 31 to hit.
That is a definite hit.
Go ahead and roll down.
We're going to start with this one.
That's going to be, and this is straight damage, right?
Correct.
Yeah, good.
17 bludgeoning damage for this first one.
Alrighty.
How's the goo looking?
You don't, it's just a...
It's really coming out of me!
It's a yellow aura.
The yellow aura. Yes.
Can I reach second, Caleb?
Actually, you know what? No.
Stunning strike.
Make posture saving throw, Caleb.
Yes.
Oh, that's super low.
That's real bad.
Yeah, real bad.
Caleb, you are stunned.
which means you drop any concentration.
This is one, number one.
Yeah, excellent.
The orca goes,
yes.
She's back, baby.
Did my wings still?
Yeah, your wings are still up.
Great, great, great, okay.
Radiance is still up.
Mark a key point.
I'm coming for Caleb number two now.
All right.
So, Bo leaps off of this platform,
and as she does,
like in the midair hits one and as she's falling she's gonna hit number two
uh wait wait wait wait shit one attack one attack natural 20 yes let's go all right go
ahead and roll damage on that yeah uh that's another another 17 damage
all righty to Caleb two stunning strike roll so smart
11.
Both Caleb's floating in air.
Seas up, and you land on that higher platform.
So you're now quite a ways up in the air from everybody else.
Oh, God.
Can you work out more?
Okay.
That's the end of your turn, but my turn?
That's the end of my turn, baby.
Must be really exhausting.
Forward you up?
Yeah, I will run forward a few steps,
and I will concentrate on Caleb number,
one, and I'm going to extend my hand,
and Hex Blades' curse will ensnare the first Caleb
as it wraps around him and using my Eldridge blast.
I are two shots at Caleb one and two shots at Caleb two.
Rapid fire.
And Stunge so advantage.
Yep, got advantage.
Oh, amazing.
So that's 18 to hit.
I'm sorry, 18 plus.
18 plus 11.
That's 30.
to hit? Yeah. It's real hard.
That's 28 to hit.
Yeah. It's real hard.
That's 27 to hit.
Yeah. Let's go.
That's three. The last one misses
with a 14. All right. So two hits on the first, one hit on the third
on the second one. So the two or to Caleb one.
Yeah. Okay.
20 total to Caleb number one.
And
plus five.
I'm sorry, 30 to Caleb number one,
and it is seven points to the second Caleb.
Take that off from Beauregard's hit, right?
What was that?
From Beauregard's hit earlier, you have to take that off as well.
And actually, I'm so sorry,
it's an additional 12 points of damage to Caleb 1
and an additional six points of damage to Caleb 2
because of Hex Blades Curse.
That's true.
Well, Hex Blades Curse doesn't affect the second Caleb.
Oh, it doesn't?
No, because he only looks.
Oh, that's right.
Oh, that's right. Thank you.
That's fine.
I'm going to have to go ahead and make a roll here.
I'm going to go ahead and mark another legendary resistance.
That's a natural 20.
The entity remains connected to Caleb.
All right.
So from there, is that finished your turn forward?
Yes, it does.
All right.
Jester, you're up with Beth on deck.
At the beginning of your turn, you take 12 points of piercing damage
as the ground begins to try and chew and devour you from underneath.
This sucks!
I'm gonna pop out my superior healing potion that I didn't give to anybody else.
And I'm going to take it!
Over 8D4 plus 8.
Okay, okay, okay, okay, uh, 5, uh, plus 5 is 10, plus 3 is 13, plus 13,
uh, uh, 13 plus 6 is 19, plus 8 is what?
That's 27.
27. I heal 27 points.
There you go. It's a bonus action.
Okay.
And then I'm just going to yell up at Caleb.
And I'm going to cast Dimension Door myself and bamf myself back to her.
And put my hands out again.
Oh, yes.
All right.
Jester's back in position.
Beth, you're up.
Oh, boy.
I wasn't expecting that.
Oh, my God.
You're the best detective ever.
You're the best dula ever.
I'm going to, I'm going to.
I'm going to welcome my new child into the world by casting prestidigitation
and making fireworks fire out of my snatch.
It's a celebration.
It's a celebration.
It's a party down there.
Come on.
Only happy.
I'm going to push really hard.
Make a strength saving throw for me if you don't mind.
Save?
Yes.
Save.
Oh, my God.
It's 15.
Okay, that is one success.
You are progressing towards an eventual birth.
Good God.
And then with the rest of my turn,
I would like to yell to Caleb.
Let me tell you a story
about a young farmer
who turned into a graceful dancer
with a keen mind
and who became my best friend.
Remember, Caleb?
Choose whether to roll persuasion or intimidation.
Persuasion.
All right.
Not that great, but I'll try.
Okay.
20?
20. All right.
Mark's third, legendary resistance to succeed.
The words seem to reach out and you see a flicker in, stunned Caleb's eyes in your direction.
Both of them, the entity seems to crackle and shift and clutch harder.
That finishes your turn.
Yasha, you're up.
So mad.
All right.
I'm going to go up to Caleb one.
fly over and I'm going to take a swing.
Okay, all attacks have advantage against him
because he's currently stunned.
Great.
Sitting down.
Oh, natural 20.
She ripped her shirt off.
She raised too hard.
It's not going to work.
It's broken.
Shored no.
You go.
I've got a wonderful malfunction.
It's not going to work.
Just keep a checking.
I love it you hopped through your costume.
Nope.
We're fine.
It's done.
It's done now.
Okay.
It's done.
Oh, my God.
Okay.
Okay, okay.
You look really hot, though.
Thanks.
All right.
We got eight, ten, ten, seventeen,
17, 17 plus 23, which is 50.
17, 17, 17.
Oh, 17, okay, 17 doubles.
That's all the dice? That's all the, that's, yes.
So 17 double is 34.
Right, do you have your brutal critical added to that as well?
No.
You're a barbarian.
You got to add that brutal critical damage.
Brutal critical.
My brutal critical, critical damage.
Brickle critical.
Sorry. That's the plus 20. Sorry.
You roll your damage die one more time.
I roll my damage die one time.
Well, I think two more times at 20.
Because you're level 20.
How many more times?
Two more times. Two more times?
All of them?
Just your weapon damage.
Just the weapon damage.
Brutical, beautiful.
19.
19. 19.
17 plus 19.
17 plus 19 plus 23.
Well, hold on.
Okay, sorry.
17 plus 19.
17 plus 19.
That's going to be 36.
36.
times two.
Which...
72 plus...
Plus 23.
So 95 points of damage.
Plus 20 because I haven't done Radiant Soul yet.
115.
115.
Yasha.
How do you want to do this?
Caleb Widogast.
Okay.
I would like to take the swing
and I'm going to look at him.
and say, I love you, Caleb,
and I'm going to get you back right now.
And I'm going to take a swing, do the damage.
But if ego pops out, I want to grab Caleb's body
and wrap him around my wings and fly away.
His body.
All right.
You strike the unconscious form of Caleb I,
who, at the impact of the blade,
the scattering of blood,
from even just the physical mass of your weapon striking him,
if not a death carve,
it knocks the consciousness from him with a heavy...
And you watch as the crackling yellow entity
is torn from his body at zero hit points,
and now bleeding out.
You grab the body of Caleb as the entity is now...
And go to fly off,
which the creature will take an attack of opportunity...
Great. Fine.
Against Caleb.
who is technically leaving.
I want to completely wrap myself
as much as I can around him.
I get that.
I understand.
Death-saving throws.
That's going to be 27 to hit
because it has advantage on attacks against an unconscious entity
that's leaving its combat range.
So that's a hit.
Caleb, that's a critical hit automatically
for within five feet leaving the range.
So Caleb immediately fails to death-saving throws.
As the entity angrily strikes out at the
formed that it lost.
So you're on death store, Caleb? Yeah.
Yasha, that finishes your turn? Just drop him.
I have a second hit. Oh, you do have a second hit, yeah.
Yeah. Go.
Okay.
So, wait, so you flew away with Caleb.
Caleb. Just hit the second hit, you have to fly back.
No, I know. Okay, so get out of there.
Can you throw your sword or something?
No. Oh, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.
Can I use this?
I have a flame strike spell.
You do?
From the blades, skullsaber, yeah.
Okay, I'm going to try to flame strike arcane ago.
It is an action to cast it.
Never mind.
You've already used your attack action this turn.
So you have a second attack.
Here's the question.
You could either try and bring Caleb to...
You're good?
Sorry, sorry, I'll let you finish.
Saying you're either fly off and put him somewhere safe or you can choose to return or drop him in attack.
No, I'm going to fly off and try to put him somewhere safe.
You got it.
All right.
I'm gonna fly to where Veth and Jester are.
Okay, you start colliding in that direction.
Oh my God!
Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.
Finishing.
I'm sweating so much.
Now the entity is now torn free from Caleb,
unable to possess the unconscious form.
The next initiative is Caleb one.
Caleb, would you please roll a death saving program?
No!
Let's talk about this.
There are people watching.
In your grasp, Yasha, you see the eyes of Caleb lull open for but a moment and he clings on to life.
That was a 16.
All that gambling in Berlin.
Beautiful.
All righty.
That finishes Caleb I's turn.
Caleb two.
Who's got a cigarette?
So Yasha just flew off with the first.
Yes.
Whereas Beauregard is right in front of us?
Yeah, like right on the ground about 10 feet below.
10 feet below?
Force cage.
Aren't you still stunned?
No, you're still stunned, that's right.
Well, I'm at the top, so I have to roll to get out.
Yeah, right?
I'm not going to go, I'm not going to get out, probably.
Well, stunning strike only, yeah, is it?
Top of my turn.
Top of your turn?
Yeah.
So nothing happens.
Nothing happens.
That's right, I'm just frozen.
So I'm just frozen round here.
So instead you hear, instead you hear,
Fudge, K, K, Fus, K.
All right, Bo.
It's the top of your turn.
No longer stunned.
What do you want to do?
Okay, so this is Caleb 2.
Correct.
Caleb 1 is dying.
Caleb 1 is bleeding out in Yasha's arms.
Flying off towards.
All of his death saving throws, right?
So now he says...
He has two out of three failed.
Two out of three failed.
And one success to stabilize.
And Caleb 2, and I have yellow goo in front of me?
Yes.
Caleb 2 and yellow goo.
Yes.
I love that band.
Yeah, great.
Yeah.
Okay.
So wait, yellow...
goo is 50 feet. Caleb 2 is also
up there with yellow goo.
I love this
Dr. Seuss book. I know, right?
Yeah, I'm going to go up for
I'm going to just go up again. I'm going to go up again.
I'm going to do what I've been doing this whole time.
You're going to leap again. Who you're striking towards?
Let's start with
let's start with Yellow goo.
Let's go. All right.
Good. 26 ahead.
That's a success.
Stunning strike.
It is immune to
stun.
I roll damage.
Okay.
Can you imagine he would make a monster immune to stun?
14 damage.
All you DMs know with a monk in the party.
14 damage to yellow goo.
14 damage.
Second attack, going for Caleb 2.
All righty.
Good.
27.
That definitely hits.
Go ahead and roll damage.
Okay.
14 again.
All righty.
Stunning strike.
Caleb two
Actually you roll for this because
This is just to keep it going
Constitution saving for this
She's just stunning traffic to my gas
Uh
That is a 16
Probably not good enough
Fail
Yeah
Caleb 2 is stunned again
Bonus action
Flurry of blows
To the yellow goo
Let's go
Poppa
I just feel
This is like
When like
Cloud and Final Fantasy
Is doing
Omnis slash.
Omnis slash.
That's what I think.
This is what I see in my head.
Pop-pop.
Jeez, Louise.
One is a natural one.
The other one is going to be 20 total.
20 just hits.
No. Oh.
Yeah?
Yeah.
Okay. 21? No.
20 total. 20 just hits.
Okay.
And then so on arm's strike.
Here we go. Here we go.
It's not a lot of damage, but that's okay.
Eight damage?
Eight damage, all right.
Extract aspects.
On the goo.
All right.
It is immune to being charmed, frightened, or stunned.
Charm, frightened, stun.
Okay.
That's all you learn from it.
That is it.
Um, I, ooh.
Go, go, go, go.
I'll say what you do learn.
No, here's...
I got to go.
I got it.
But you do learn from it, while not stat-wise, you do sense its connection to Caleb is not entirely
severed, and there is something about the memories of Caleb that could connect to this entity.
The things that we got. We got the things. We didn't show them the things. Okay. I'm holding on to the
bean. Can I take... I heard that about you.
As I finish my address...
attack and I learned this, can I take the bean and just jacking the beanstalk this and like
flick it out of, can I flick the bean?
This story ends as it began with flicking of a bean.
I'm so proud of my wife.
It's only because my wife gave it to me.
That's my jeez-up.
Come on, jack it, flick it, whichever.
Get it.
As you produce the bean and flick it.
The stunned Caleb's eyes go wide
and the entity looks oddly terrified
of its proximity.
And it takes 25 damage
from a memory of Caleb
severing the tie it has to him even further.
That finishes your turn, Moraigard.
Ford, you're up with Jester on deck.
Having previously used Hexplay
curse on the Caleb up there, I'm going to use relentless
hex as my bonus action to teleport
directly up to where Caleb 2 is.
And I'm going to produce the Star Razor and say,
this is going to hurt you a lot more than it's going to hurt me.
And I'll take the little amulet that came off of teacher, Caleb,
and wrap it around the handle as I take the strikes.
Let's go.
You hear him say,
First strike is a 28 no advantage because he's not stunned, right?
Nope, but that does succeed.
Okay, beautiful.
Second one is 22 to hit.
Yeah.
Third one is 17 plus 2.
It's a 19 to hit.
That succeeds.
Amazing.
As you go forward, its eyes go wide as the amulet grows close
and it takes another 25 damage at the proximity.
of another memory of Caleb's pushing to sever that bond.
Let's go.
18, so that's 27.
That's 43 points of slashing crazy-ass damage.
The entity is flickering with fury,
flickering from the bean and the amulets proximity.
Does that finish your turn?
It does.
All right.
Jester, you're up.
I have Caleb in front of me.
You...
Yasha got to me, right?
Well, Yasha does not...
What's your fly speed?
30.
So Yasha is on her way to you,
but is still at that 30 feet,
about 170 feet from you.
Okay.
Fuck.
Okay.
You have a frumpkin, right?
You know what?
How close are they to the original ground?
Where everybody else is?
They're flying...
Are they left?
than 60 feet away from everybody else?
At 30 feet and about 80 feet up?
I'd say there are about 80 feet from everybody.
Except for 30 feet from Beauregard.
Beauregard and Ford.
Actually, yeah.
One was pretty close now.
So 30 feet from everybody.
I was wrong.
Because everyone managed to teleport
up to that same platform that you were at.
Yeah, but not my duplicates.
Right?
No.
They're down at the original platform.
So I'm just going to kill it.
Hold on, hold that, hold that.
Hold on.
I just want to heal him.
First time you've ever said.
There's a lot of growth.
I'm really sorry.
Get to him.
She wants to heal McCann.
This is so ironic.
Germany is such schadenfreude.
Do best inflict damage.
Follow your heart.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay, I'm going to cast Sunburst on the entity from one of my duplicates.
All righty, is that a Constitution saving throw?
Uh, wait, hold on.
We look at this.
Wait, no, fuck this!
Yeah!
I'm gonna cast Firestorm for Caleb!
Yeah!
Ooh!
Let's go.
All right.
That's a deck save.
Deck save on the entity.
Is he stunned?
That's gonna be a 23.
Half damage?
It's half damage, so still roll your damage.
Okay, okay, okay.
So that's 7D10 fire damage.
And Frumpkin is looking at him, real hard.
As you cast this spell, Frumpkin, like, hisses from the other side of the chamber.
Seven.
Seven D-10.
Okay, okay, okay.
Which means the entity takes another 25 damage from that memory.
Okay.
25.
Come on, girl.
30 25 plus 7 is 32 plus 7 is 39 and then three more
22 7 d10 oh okay two more that's another 14 yes so it's gonna be 49 6 56 minus half
that's gonna do 20 how do you want to do this yeah I'm just gonna start rising up and everywhere the entity tries to go the flame is gonna pop up around it and it's gonna
burn it just like Caleb would have burned his memories.
Blame flame, okay? Think about that, Caleb.
The unleashed ego leash screeches as the flames consume it,
the memories of the one that it possessed and corrupted.
Now the final vision it has before it burns somewhere into the ether
amongst the halls of Halas.
As it dies, the chamber mutates and shifts,
back to a central, normal marble hallway.
The platform seemed dematerialize
and drift to the ground as you all gather.
Caleb, I'd like you to make one more death-saving throw.
His life force persists with a 15.
And to all gather together in the midst of this chaos
to bring him back to consciousness, Caleb,
you wake up from this terrible nightmare
to see your friend Veth on the cusp.
of cusping.
How many months have I been out?
Two to sixteen.
Bloubiol put me a light.
Poking, well, we shouldn't have.
I am.
So sorry, we need to get out of here.
Let's go.
Help me up.
We need to leave.
You are very pregnant.
I went poking where I shouldn't have.
Oh, also.
We'll help you.
Take his arm.
Joshua on the other side.
And with that, I will also pump healing hands into him for 20 hits.
All right.
You all gather, and with the keen-minded memory of you having stowed through these halls before they were changed,
eventually head back to the exterior chamber.
And with the spell slots still at your disposal,
you charge the exit sphere, and you all return to the chamber where Essek awaits.
Who looks up one hand on the orb and the other concentrating on a denomantic spell
to slow the passage of time
from the weird enchantment
of the disparate times.
Essek glances up.
My goodness, you're back.
We've got to get her to Essek.
Give me your hands.
And we leave this place entirely
and appear on the doorstep of Beth Bernada's home.
Oh, Yazza.
As Yeza rushes out to aid,
carefully.
Through the use of the new doula.
the old doula
and the other dula
A lot of dula
Eventually
The new child comes
The second child
of Veth Bernada
And yesabernado
Sweating and holding it in your arms
Your son coming up to glance over as well
His stoic emo exterior
Melting away into a smile
He has it looks up to you
what do you want to call?
Maybe Brent.
Brenato.
Dude, I didn't think about that.
And with that, we close our game for tonight.
Very much for having us.
We love you very much, Germany.
And is it Thursday yet?
Yes, let's throw out our little guys.
