Starting point is 00:00:00 Why, hello there, distinguished campaign four listeners. Welcome to Tailgate, our new talkback show hosted by me, Whitney Moore. In this series, we'll sit down with the cast after each table arc and spill the tea together on all things campaign four. Plus, if you're a beacon member, the swore will continue with the nightcap, a beacon exclusive segment where we answer your questions from the Discord chat. Each Tailgate episode is streamed live on beacon.tv, YouTube, and Twitch, and we'll arrive here on the Critical Role podcast network one week later. So if you ever want to join in on the live fun, check us out on one of those platforms. All right, without further ado, let's get this tailgate started. Good evening, everyone, and welcome back to Tailgate.
Starting point is 00:00:41 Oh! I'm Whitney Moore. Spooky season is upon us, and things are getting freaky-diki in campaign for. What? Yeah. You know, we got freaky play openings. Even Cadigan and Murray are getting freaky under a cloak. I didn't know that was a double entendre.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Well, you should always always. expect. I didn't write this. Joining me, my fellow freaky skimmer, Liam O'Brien, and some freaky-seekies, Robbie Damon and Talison Jaffe. Welcome to single entendre theater. Single on tundra. Get you a little freak pinkies up and let's open the gate. Is making the shape of
Starting point is 00:01:31 inside the syrup. There's various different kinds of fornication on the pan. Is it like a hot tub with the syrup? Is there butter? They're individual pancake. There is butter. Okay. For those watching at home, we're talking
Starting point is 00:01:42 about Robbie Damon's underpants at the moment. Pattern on his underpants. This is an HR violation. What? I'm upset. He forced us to guess. How could you? Before we get into the questions,
Starting point is 00:01:53 I just want to acknowledge Talison Jaffe for coming correct and coming, attending my tea party, wearing really appropriate clothes. Everybody say thank you, Talison. Thank you, Talison. Thank you, Talison. Thank you. I'm trying to start.
Starting point is 00:02:12 something here. Thank you. This panel of people, our outfits have a wide range. There is really, there's a lot happening. Yes. I mean, the most interesting part of Robbie's outfit is his underwear that we're not going to see unless you subscribe to beacon bits. And then you can see Robbie Damon's underwear. Honestly, I'll open to Only fans for six hours for all new beacon. I've just kidding. That's not real. Disclamer, disclaimer, not real. Spread it around. Completely different bars and a make. He's actually not wearing any pants. That is that has CG painted on. And if you've become a beacon member, we take that skin off of the screen. Like what are those bugs from the 90s where you turn it off?
Starting point is 00:02:48 I love it. Yeah, a little news. Just the pant filter. You guys, we have not, I mean, the last time I saw you was when we got our dogs out on this show. But we haven't been together since the convergence. And that was way back, however long ago that was. So much has happened. But I want to go back because this is a special new group when we did this on the last tailgate.
Starting point is 00:03:12 How did it feel having everybody back for convergence when we did that? Back when we did it. Back in the time when we were doing it. Well, this is uncharted territory what we're doing with Campaign for. I used to know everything about every chapter and now there's whole swaths of the story
Starting point is 00:03:33 that I know nothing about. I know that Cadigan and Murray got it on, but I don't know how. You just said there was a cloak involved. There was a cloaking ball? There was a cloak involved. I read that from the prompter. Was it like a picnic
Starting point is 00:03:42 blanket down underneath? Was it on top? Was it a raft around your head? Who was on top? I really don't. Well, don't really all I want it. This is weird. Permanently? I feel like they mixed it up.
Starting point is 00:03:51 They mixed it up. They mixed it up. You know, we got out, we thought, we did a little bit of looking into what our magical items were, and we figured out that I gave me the ability to cast invisibility when I was in darkness or shadow, and I hadn't used it. So Cadigan's a guy who needs to, like, test it. So he made himself invisible, and then, and then our fade to black was. after the shoulder shimmying was done,
Starting point is 00:04:16 I wrapped her up in the cloak and we both, we both bamped nothing. What other magical items did you use? Shout out to whoever. Like, I can't. I want to see the person who was just walking through the woods hearing inordinate amount of screaming coming from absolutely nothing.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Brennan made a semi-weird but enjoyable comment about who knows what sounds and smells. I mean, Cadigan is not the most bathed man in the campaign. He's got a must. He's got pheromones. Exactly. I'll see you in three days. You cast thermometer on anything and it can vibrate.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Well, thank you for telling us about that convergence. Of course, yes, yes. Convergence in general, it's great. So, yeah, the point was, it's nice to have some time to come back together, and we're not pretending to learn things, we are learning things, because we haven't been around it. What are you guys been up to? How's it been?
Starting point is 00:05:13 We did a wild foresty adventures. You guys have been having a really fun time. We just put on a show. We've been getting squashed by the machine. But I feel like, I mean, speaking on convergence, the, like, I'm still thinking about when Marisha saw your notebook and it was like, met a dog. And then we had to knowing, like, coming to seekers tables, Sam and I were like, oh, it's homework time. It's time to, we gotta, we gotta learn. Was that expectation met? Did it live up to that?
Starting point is 00:05:47 You know, I think yeah, well, especially because we kicked off the first seekers or schemers table with, um, the, uh, Brandon giving us little, little messages of stuff that we know, which immediately made me feel acclimated into like, oh, I can be useful. Um, so far the, The Wiccan Tyranny double agent plan has not been going so well, I don't think. I have high hopes for you. We'll walk in eventually. We played at a proper table also, and that made me sad that you stayed home and I ran screaming. Will Buller and Tyranny and, well, Tyranny and Cadigan ever, I feel like we had so many, like, paternal moments.
Starting point is 00:06:30 And I feel like it would be so sad if we should just never be shame if something happened to Cadigan. Cat again You're a soldier You're impervious? I'm I'm gonna go to the pit Probably That's where we left off
Starting point is 00:06:48 So I don't know Can a demon die Can you can I be truly killed Who knows? Brennan does Do you know any of those answers? No No
Starting point is 00:06:56 I don't know anything Only Brennan knows Yeah Convergence was fucking I mean it feels like camp To have everybody Just be back but that was a long-ass time ago.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Every last thought on that is that every convergence game has real high school drama club, theater camp vibes. Everyone's bustling with jokes and hugs and inside jokes. And yet I have a sneaking suspicion that the next convergence may not be the same. I just feel like the stakes are getting higher and higher as we forge into our own tables.
Starting point is 00:07:36 I can't imagine just coming back to reconvene again at any point. I don't know. Yeah. And we've been so lucky, but it feels lucky. We're hanging on. By the skin of our goddamn teeth. I feel like when we do meet up again, something that I feel like I took for granted
Starting point is 00:07:55 at the convergence and at the initial overture is that just the amount of manpower and, woman power that we had, which is now that like I have effectively left the party to go do tyranny business. Yeah. I feel like I would love to have the rest of the people there. So if we do have, which I think we will, I think you're right, Robbie, like we will have more challenges, but we'll have more people, more spells.
Starting point is 00:08:24 So when we converge again, who knows, someone in this room or in the group might not be there. Yeah. Someone might have to go keep Tehr company. Yeah. We could also literally die. Wow. At any moment. Life is precious.
Starting point is 00:08:38 I can just put in closet. Is that one of the questions? So who do you think is going to die in real life first? Oh, that's fun. We have the thing going where the last one standing makes money. What's that called? There's a word for that. This is back to Convergent stuff, but Liam,
Starting point is 00:08:57 how do you think Cothether Eye's opening night went? It was magic. How do you think how it felt about it? Oh, boy. I mean, he was full of pride and love for his company and for his city and proud of the accomplishment of it because it wasn't just like two months of play rehearsal. It was his life's work all come together. And then he was a bundle of nerves and fear for some sort of violence to unfold at the theater. And instead what happened was supernatural sublime synchronicity and magic happened.
Starting point is 00:09:33 And I remember meeting with Brendan back before the campaign, and like we didn't play a game, but in session zero talks, we had a big group with all of us together, and then I think all of us. I did, had like a lunch with Brennan where we talked all about what I thought how it was and how we fit into Dolmachiar on the world
Starting point is 00:09:52 and what I wanted the theater to mean. And just like Matt, the two of those bastards are great at taking a thing you give them and then twisting it and changing the Rubik's Cube and then hand. standing back something far more incredible than you ever anticipated. So it was, I'm a theater nerd at heart
Starting point is 00:10:11 and it just scratched that itch perfectly. I love that we were like, oh, shit's gonna go down at the theater. We gotta be ready for a big fight and then opening night happened and it was the most beautiful touching. Oh, wow, showbiz, baby. Part of that was wishful thinking for me though
Starting point is 00:10:31 because I love combat intent tabletop and I wanted to see the inside of that amphitheater real bad. Yeah. It could still happen. Real bad. Yeah. You could still, you could. We'll get there.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Yeah. Robbie, this is back to Convergent stuff. How is Cadigan handling the recent to the convergent events like losing Teora, Rip King, and learning Primus destroyed his life? How does it feel to travel now alongside Primus's son? Yeah, well, I mean, I think remembering that that Cattigan is a dad helps. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:13 I think that remember that Cattagan as a father helps. And I think that you can have sympathy to realize that I think sometimes people who are younger like, oh, you're going to be just like your parents. You know, you're a Nepo baby, this is what. But like, once you have kids, you realize that they really are their own little entity. So I don't think that he necessarily is holding that
Starting point is 00:11:34 against Octus, because Octus has proven to be nothing but a competent, capable, and sensitive traveling a partner. Wow. Yeah. So that's a very mature response. You've been one of the more mature voices at the table is what I found. Like, like I hate to say it's almost the adults at the table. Yeah. He's one of the older characters for certain, but actually acts like it. But it also has like a very, like, crystallized moral compass. I think he's regressive in his behavior and mature in his moral code and philosophy. Which is a dangerous combination, by the way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:13 For a man of any kind. Yeah. All the norms of society who gives a fuck, but the moral code, the backbone is there. Yeah. Yeah. I think that's an interesting way. It's a way you can be if you choose to be that way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:24 It's a way you can be. You can say that about anything. With a dog. We got Abria in the chat. Hey, Abria. Question for Briya, how upset were you to miss Marie and Cadigan fucking? Because that was, I was upset to miss that. And I feel like you're on the wavelength.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Here's a question for Whitney. That's me. How is tyranny dealing with the revelation that her dad might not be powerful, a passive powerful of the demon that she thought, i.e. a simp. You know what? Brendan really gave the, well, we haven't met him yet. So we don't really know. We only know Sir Rekshi's saying that he's lame.
Starting point is 00:13:07 He was, like, one of the ones that stayed behind, and he's a simp for El Yaza. And Slekei may have her own, like, she may have her own motives. But I know that tyranny is, like, looking, at the time of this last episode, is really looking for any kind person to help her, any demon. This is the first demon that she's met that is like not her sisters and is nice to her and she's vulnerable right now. She seems legit to me.
Starting point is 00:13:39 But I will say it would be very interesting because to me, Brennan really spun up Sharvie, the shadow of suffering as like a high demon prince of pain. And I thought like, oh, pretty princess tyranny. Like she's, you know, her dad's a big big. big shot and I feel like Brennan's subverting that is a very funny choice if it does turn out that way. I don't know. I don't remember what happens. Robbie. Huh? Actually, no, Liam. Actually, no, Talison.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Why didn't Boler ever try looking for his other siblings? Or has he? He has. He's just been doing it with paperwork. He kind of, he was of the opinion that he could have everything he wanted. He's looking them up on Facebook. More or less. He's trolling Facebook. He's Googling Facebook. He's Googling them every once a week he Googles them. No, he's collecting every book he can find. He's just, he was given the gift of this life that he could have. And leaving the city would kind of blow it up. So there is kind of a handcuff to that town where he is, he is. a respected, tolerated person,
Starting point is 00:15:02 and the minute he starts getting further out, then it becomes a lot more conversation about who and what he is. Yeah. But he's got a little safe, he's got a very big fence around his house and doesn't want to leave. Is that something that you are hoping that you're gonna get to do in this campaign is track down the siblings?
Starting point is 00:15:21 I'm hoping. I was expecting to find maybe one of them, not the one I found. Who was dead? Termina, right? Yeah, we're really going straight there, are we? She's so scary. Yeah, she was not the healthy one. She was bad in relationships.
Starting point is 00:15:37 She reminds me of some people that I've known in my life. She is, what does it call, like when someone just changes their personality, depending on who they're dating? A BPD? Her whole thing is she basically is just becomes whatever. Yeah. She very has some problems and is attracted to bad people. As we're learning.
Starting point is 00:15:57 Do you have a favorite sibling that we haven't met? Well, we haven't met them, to be fair. Yeah, any of them. I will say yes, but I cannot say who because they have not come up yet. Ooh, I want to know. When are you going to get your assless masked ass back to the city so that we can realize long game?
Starting point is 00:16:18 That time has passed for the assless mask to come. Sorry, I've tried. I would love to come back. but I think I need to come back with at least one of the siblings or else I think my sister will murder me. Yeah, and you're a creed member right now, right? Yeah, well, at the moment, yeah, that's right. I've got to deal with that. That's fun. I wish the, I wish the, I wish the, Wic and Tyranny could see that, because that's... I would like someone a little hotter. I'm not digging. I guess you were that Lux for a second.
Starting point is 00:16:48 For like 10 seconds. For like 10 seconds. And then she jumped out of that window. Well, you know, someone jumped out of that window. Oops. Oops. Oops, she was cuckoo bananas. I wanted, I've been wanting to do that like wonderful handoff of just being on like a useless body and then I say that, all MPCs matter. All bodies, whatever.
Starting point is 00:17:09 I was gonna say all bodies are useless. That's true too. Just the notion of flinging someone like a puppet. Yeah. Over the side of the hill, watching them tumble and cry and then having someone pick me up and then just keep running. It was the most hardcore, awful thing I was, I really wanted something like that.
Starting point is 00:17:24 It was a great moment and I loved also that like because it was the overture, there was so much stuff going on that that was one, because I didn't get away with what happened at the Taylor's. I thought like, oh, I got Kattegan's finger and like nobody's asking any follow-up questions. And then that came in a bit me in the ass. But this, Lux's just like jumping out the window and me grabbing them asking being like, hey, don't ask any follow-up questions about this. And no one did. And it was great. And Brendan, I hope that you're not watching and keeping notes about ways to punish us.
Starting point is 00:17:58 Okay, yes, of course. Later. Later. We will add him and tell him. Thank you for the hashtag. We will never speak of that again. Leam. I keep seeing a Brea in the chat.
Starting point is 00:18:07 It makes me miss her more. I know. We miss you. Come back, or Brea. Yeah. I just want to be a meat grinder for MPCs, I will admit. Ooh. I'm in a mood.
Starting point is 00:18:17 I like that. I like that for you, Talison. I rescind my invitation. back to Dolman. Not you. Liam, do you think that Hal actually wants to run for office, or is this just a thing that he can do in order to leverage weight against the creed? I don't know that it matters.
Starting point is 00:18:37 I don't know that he, a year ago, two years ago, three years ago would have made that kind of choice. But right now we just need as much information and leverage as possible. And so if it lasts forever, that's interesting. That's interesting, but they're making lethal moves against the people in the city right now, so it's just trying to find the quickest route to having some sort of, some sort of leverage or pushback. Get the, what are they called,
Starting point is 00:19:05 the guys on our side that we're trying to get on our side. The council, the council of, Oxtosh, Agstosh, Agstosh, uh, uh, uh, uh, ify. Yeah, ify parvinas. and the third, I keep forgetting her name, but I worked for her during the war. Proper noun, Sally, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:29 Yeah, trivia. There, dude, campaign for trivia is gonna go nuts. If there's any trivia heads in the chat, I feel like I am not a trivia person, but I feel like there's just a lot of grist for the mill. We're getting into the Lord of the Rings level, way too many names. Yeah, yeah. More heavy.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Whitney, how much does tyranny trust Sorexhi? 100% completely to the point where, I don't know if this has happened yet. I think it may have. I can't remember. But it's not that much of a spoiler anyways. Murray's like, hey, are you sure you can trust this demon? Like, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:20:08 Like, isn't she trying to get you exactly to where your dad wants you to go, which is the pit? because he said you've got to go to the pit. And I'm like, huh, I didn't think about that at all because she was nice to me. And, yeah, I can't remember that's this, that. Also, real talk, how are you, Whitney Moore, not going to go to the pit?
Starting point is 00:20:30 Like, how would you not go to the pit? All I ever want to do is go to hell. Yeah, this is what I've been angling in. Yeah, no. This is not, there was no way that that wasn't going to happen because, like, first of all, it's going to be cool as fuck. And also, narratively speaking,
Starting point is 00:20:47 So Rekshi is, like, the only friend that tyranny has that isn't, like, a product of strategy or work or, you know, contract. And so she was a little vulnerable. She could have maybe asked some follow-up questions, but, you know, I think she trusts her. And I think that that will pay off nicely. For somebody.
Starting point is 00:21:07 Maybe long game, end of the campaign and beyond, she takes her dad's seat. I would love to see it. I would also like, I feel, Brendan and I have talked a lot about the demons representing archetypes, and Sirrexhi is a demon of anarchy, but Brennan, being as politically inclined as he is, understands that anarchy is more about community care
Starting point is 00:21:33 than, like, you know, fuck the cops and, like, fuck the cops, but, like, you know, it's more about taking care of your neighbor. And Sirrexhi, so far has proven to be that. I mean, she's in community with tyranny, and I think that she, I think she is trustworthy. And she's hot as fuck also. Love it, lionhead. Everybody is trustworthy if you have dirt on them.
Starting point is 00:21:54 I thought you were going to say if they're hot. That knows. That's not a good strategy at all. If the movie The Mask taught me anything, is just trust the hottest person. That's a great strategy in Los Angeles, you won't get hurt. Nope, not once.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Shit. God damn. Robbie, what was it like for Kattegan to see Hawthorne's glade in flames? He and Thimble are the only two soldiers to return to the glade. What was that like? Horrible. What are you? Those are the homies?
Starting point is 00:22:26 Yeah, of course. I think for me it was more important that the place was special to Thimble. I think that's what hurt the most. 100%. And then seeing our friends, down again. It ended up being, I love, I love an island of misfit toys. That's what Hawthorne's Glade felt like to me. And then getting to bring, save Honeysockle twice with the same move, that kind of stuff is like, whatever you do, maybe track me on this, and maybe right,
Starting point is 00:23:03 whenever you skip a turn to like save or heal sometimes when you're really like deep in combat, I always go back and be like, was that the right thing to do? Was this the moment to heal, especially if you're not a healer? Like, could you have done, could you've been more meaningful somewhere else? And I had been thinking about that move at the top of that first fight at Hawthorne's Glade when we were in opposition to his, should I have spent that turn doing that? And then when it encountered with it again to make the same choice, that was almost like a formative moment for Cadigan's character to go, oh, wow, maybe he's not as a, as much of a man of violence as he once used to be.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Maybe he cares more than he thinks. So yeah, there was no choice but to like stabilize her for sure. That speaks so beautifully to your arc because I feel like Cadigan has been so in his rage and in his like isolation that opening up and deciding to make that choice instead of just go to war is like, I think that's a beautifully poetic thing
Starting point is 00:24:07 to do as he softens to his new community. Well, when we get into the reason of why he even has that in the beginning, I think build-wise, we've talked about it maybe, but he has druid, what is it, initiate feat of why he would even have that spell, I think is why. Maybe Rangers can have it too. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that's why I pulled it is from that. And maybe there's a reason for that.
Starting point is 00:24:32 I like to make my builds super intentional, like from a mechanical standpoint. Like, if it doesn't make sense to the story, It doesn't make sense to creating this cool character. So even picking that, I was like, why that? Well, there's a reason for it. So being able to heal has been really cool and fun. I love being a player and also watching other players when they decide not to do, be like,
Starting point is 00:24:54 I'm going to try to do max damage and figure out what else you can do with an action in those encounters because it forces you to be really creative if you're trying to do something meaningful. You can tend to be more meaningful. even in pure math for some strange. It really can force the narrative in some very positive ways. You're a lot of fun to watch play, by the way.
Starting point is 00:25:17 Oh, that's nice of you. All of you guys. I get to watch you guys. I don't enjoy it. You're the whole reason I wanted to play a martial class. Watching you play Orum, for me, was the whole reason why I wanted to try martial class. 100%.
Starting point is 00:25:33 Speaking of Hawthorunsglade, that place has so many MPCs that we love. Is Shafa okay? Whoa, Shuffa was, shuffa was, boy, I gotta dig back in my memory. Shuffa's the bush that was in love with Wick. But Shuffa was getting, wait, I gotta think about where we are. Yes, you gotta roll back. Also, who is Shuffa? Shuffa.
Starting point is 00:25:57 A big, like, bush elemental creature that is nonverbal and loves Wick. Correct. I think Shuffa was getting badly for it. badly fucked up. No! And then I think we saved them. Piping in the chat, if you remember what happened to Shuffa.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. There's so much, there's so much is happening all the time. It's crazy. Tal and Liam, where do you guys both feel you left Hal and Boulare's friendship? Shuff is okay.
Starting point is 00:26:29 Shuff is okay. Chef is okay. We got Shuffa out of the shit. Yeah. I am screaming. I mean, I can say Belair in his head is just screaming over and over then again,
Starting point is 00:26:36 I can fix this. Oh. Probably not. But we'll see. And trying really, really hard not to slip back into bad habits, but we'll see. I mean, it's such a, Belair is such a big hanging Chad.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Chad. For Hal right now, because there was this major reveal, it's a Titanic reveal that you are an artifact of God smiting power, not a mortal. And then I've learned all that information, and you're someone that I've been going to like, with and kivetching and talking shop with for years.
Starting point is 00:27:10 And now you're just gone. So he's trying to not die and keep his family alive and keep the city on track. And at the back of his head, there was like, well, that happened. I've been throwing money at you to get this thing done for years and just... You're a theater producer. I mean, and you are the best thing I've ever seen. You are the thing, you are the reason I'm like trying to get this built. I'll say this.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Not how, but Liam wants to at some point. figure out what Hal plus mask means. Yeah. So you gotta come home eventually just that we can play in that space. Come home, Come home, Boler. Yeah, well, and like, there's a lot going on
Starting point is 00:27:51 with Belair right now. I've gotta try and keep remembering how far up we've gotten, but there's, there's a lot of limits on who he's even allowed to be, and then going back into traveling violence is not healthy for him. I'm gonna say we're not chopping it up quite yet. We're just watching you be capable on the road. And for me to play with you, that's been really fun to see.
Starting point is 00:28:14 My big question is what happens when City Mouse comes into the woods? How do they do? Because I did some bad things in several wars. Yeah. Working hard. Well, speaking of, I feel like you said Bowler's got a lot going on, but I kind of feel like he's never not had a lot going on. I feel like he's designed with a lot going on.
Starting point is 00:28:35 But you guys have had some pretty chill episodes in Seekers round two. Boy, what that's that like? What's that like? He's only supposed to run for five days. Yeah. He's been on way too long. He's like that light ball that won't go out.
Starting point is 00:28:49 You guys had a whole, let's see. Did you guys go to a tavern yet? Has that been aired? We just, we just rolled up. Yep, that's right. We finished that we got everybody safely back to the other glade and now we walked into the tavern and somebody said,
Starting point is 00:29:09 Octus Dakota! And that's where we ended the evidence. Did they say it like that? Yeah, baby! I think so, actually. It was that intense. Wow. Well, there's no taverns to be had where we are. Oh, I'm getting pointed at the teleprompter.
Starting point is 00:29:23 Hello! Before we go any further, oh yes, we need to pause for a moment because it's time for noteworthy notables, my favorite part of the show, where we celebrate the brilliant work of those within the critter community. We have three incredible pieces to get through tonight, so let's get into it.
Starting point is 00:29:38 I also want to shout out that cat dog that I saw earlier in the chat. That was my favorite piece of Sanfran art I've seen so far. I like the original to hang in my bathroom. Yep. Our first noteworthy notable tonight comes from Becca at the Bagget Row on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:29:53 Oh, hell. Yeah. Eyes are really killing on that way. Oh shit. Oh, we're going through these quick. I think the can I ate that was not the one. That was just a little tyranny treat. That is beautiful.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Okay. Is that a dragon toe coming in from the side? It is a dragon toe. Oh, dragon toes. That someone's in the lake, right? Dang. This is the edge of the lake. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:17 Oh my god. Stornin. Trying to remember, yeah. Great work, Becca. We love it. Next up, this one is from Amahen at the Rose Cleric on Instagram. Let's see it.
Starting point is 00:30:29 Yeah. Well, well, well. At Murray's arms. She's so buffed. Those delts are out of control. I mean, we're doing a lot of, you're doing a lot of waving around doing spells stuff. That's a he-man action figure happening right now.
Starting point is 00:30:45 That is. She was pushing him up and down. Yeah. I'm making the doll's kiss in my head. Wow. And then you got the cloak too. That's beautiful. I didn't even know I shipped it now.
Starting point is 00:30:57 Yeah. Wow. I like that piece. I mean, that was, that one was a, a day oner. That was very early on that seed was planted. And now that seed has been planted. Does her beard tickle?
Starting point is 00:31:09 Oh my God. I think she oils it. I think she's smart enough to keep it. Keep it. There's a little beard to beard friction for sure. That's so hot. Our third and final, noteworthy, notable is from Caitlin at nerdy nostalgia on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:31:24 Yeah, I love that one. That one is one of the first that I feel like I saw, because that's a, that's a, like, first line of the show. It's all about those goat eyes. That's canonical, right? I've had a couple times I've gotten to meet some tyranny cosplayers at some of the cons and taken that, like, 0.5 angle picture.
Starting point is 00:31:46 And it's funny every time. The goat eyes is canonical, right? That's canonical, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm so sorry to the cosplayers because those shits are really hard to find contacts for. They're findable, though. But then they can get wonky, they get wonky.
Starting point is 00:32:00 look like that. Just get goat eyes. Just get some goat eyes. Pop them in your skull. Actually, yeah, the ones that you used to stuff goats are pretty, the glass ones are pretty cheap. You can't put those in your eyes. No, no, I suppose not. For our cosplayers, I love in C3, it was always like, you got goat legs for Fern. It was always
Starting point is 00:32:21 you have goat legs. Now, you got goat eyes? She got goad eyes. And she got go legs. I want to meet Fern. And if you'd like your fan art or cosplay featured on Noteworthy Notables, go check out critroll.com slash submit. Submit to me. Questions and discussions for 25 minutes. And then it's time for beacon bits.
Starting point is 00:32:41 Okay? And then it's your questions. All right? This is my tea party, and I get to read the teleprompter. This is a very U.T. party. Thank you. I really love this set so much. Yes.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Okay, well, we talked about it a little bit, but I want to ask this actual question. Robbie, does Cattigan kiss and tell? And how are things with Murray? So I'm going to break that down. Would Cattigan tell anybody that he and Marie hooked up? And how do you think that you guys, like, are you hoping for anything upon a reunion?
Starting point is 00:33:18 Or do you think it was just a sweet moment shared? Oh, Cattigan does not kiss and tell. Yeah, that makes sense. No way, not a chance. Too private. but I also wouldn't be hiding anything either. And if that art is anything to go by, that shit looked good.
Starting point is 00:33:37 I bet you coming back for seconds on that one, for sure. 100%. I wouldn't either of them. Just for the pure rompah. And that scene, too, was pretty sweet. I think it was sweeter than either of us expected it to be. So maybe we thought it was meant to be a rompah because it was that, there could be a spark of something more.
Starting point is 00:34:02 It's hard to say. We'll see. I think we all have to just live first, though, right? Yeah. We got to survive. You guys were, like, trauma bonded. I feel like that. Just like that's stupid.
Starting point is 00:34:11 Yeah. Kat again. I feel like I asked you this when we did our panel in Des Moines, but I want to ask again, so for everybody. Is Murray you think the first person that Katta? to get hooked up with since wife? Oh, canonically no. Oh, canonically no.
Starting point is 00:34:32 Yeah, yeah, we talked about, this was, I think we talked about this in a little on the panel. So, canonically to those people, those couple thousand people that were there, no, in the story that I wrote for Brennan, post give up on the hunt. And the fans have really clocked in on the emotional regression stuff where it's just like sort of like seeking
Starting point is 00:34:58 really base level carnal pleasures, I think that that is one of Gattigan's for sure. I think he is buried his pain in more ways than one. Oh. Yeah, yeah. Let me clear up any misunderstanding. Why do you a de-character of a fox? Fuchs!
Starting point is 00:35:14 Oh, no, yeah. A fuchs for sure. Get his ass, William. But I'll give you another one. He does fuck. I do not think he has made love since being away from his life. Yeah. I mean, I feel like maybe this could be a little.
Starting point is 00:35:28 something different. Yeah. Yeah, I think that there's a little bit of tenderness there. That he's allowed himself. Open the heart door just a little? Just a little bit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:35:40 This is a question for me. What went through your mind when you realized Charavi was asking tyranny to destroy yourself? I thought I was getting fired from the show. Sorry. I thought I was being written off. Every conversation would ever have suddenly flashed in my mind. I push the envelope too much. I say too many's wonky bonky things.
Starting point is 00:36:08 No, I thought, I mean, I loved that moment because I'm such a little brat. And Brennan really, I really get to rage bait Brennan into yelling at me, which I love. And so it was a really fun. I know he is the father of, father of girls who are not yet teens. teenagers and so it's it was nice to see a little preview his daughters will be perfect angels I'm sure but it was nice to see like dad Brennan be like give snap in line like it was great um beyond that though oh scary father of girls Liam was how surprised by Hero and Elodie's fraught relationship and what
Starting point is 00:37:01 how I think of El-D's moderate perspective on the city and the creed. Oh, that was so... That was rough. Yeah, it was really hard, and it's kind of what I live for. I think with all my characters, I really like... Obviously, we all love the fantastical and flying into the stratosphere and stabbing a dragon
Starting point is 00:37:22 and ghosts and all that, but I really wanted to explore, particularly with how, like, real, human, family dynamics, and not the traditional, we've been married forever and everything's perfect. And we have three kids and a picket fence. But, like, I mean, my parents were divorced. I know I had friends whose parents were together and not married. Like, families have all shapes and sizes, not the cookie cutter one that we see in media most of the time.
Starting point is 00:37:49 So I really wanted to explore, like, a complicated family with different pieces that was different than the norm. And I got it. And it was just so painful to, like, boy, from Hal's POV in that moment, it was such a delicate situation because everyone had valid concerns, right? Obviously, Elity has worked when Hal first met Elity, she was an up-and-comer. She was not at the position where she is now. She has become, like, this powerful person in the city over the course of her child's life. almost two decades.
Starting point is 00:38:29 And, um, but she's really concerned that everything that's going on is going to get her daughter killed. That is a valid concern. That is, that shit is real. Uh, but then heroes,
Starting point is 00:38:43 dead ass right, about like, you know, everything that's going on, we either, if we just lie down and roll over, like, what good are we?
Starting point is 00:38:54 Um, and then you add in the fact that he's a dude and there's, two women venting their opinions, and should he get in the middle of that? So I was just trying to hear everybody and let them talk to each other and not let there be, try to mitigate any lasting damage in the family dynamic
Starting point is 00:39:18 and knowing that everyone was just hurting in their own individual way, and hoping that everyone could get through it And, you know, be mad, be upset, be scared. And it'll probably be like a process, but I just want them to love each other in the end and also save this fucking city from its own implosion. So I liked how dirty and complicated and messy it was.
Starting point is 00:39:42 Yeah, it's so funny. I feel like, I remember you saying a while ago that you wanted to play the sort of classic fantasy character of like a normal guy who gets swept up in this, like, fantastic, you know, amazing whirlwind story, which is exactly what happens, but you're still very much doing dad shit
Starting point is 00:40:03 and like PTA fucking making sure there's no, like the families are fighting with each other and just being the adult. You are also very much the adult in the room. Yeah, for sure, for sure. I'm the oldest one in this room. And I like being a, like sort of a father to multiple people in this campaign in moments,
Starting point is 00:40:25 even though he's not perfect, house not perfect. but doing good though. Yeah, I like these nerd games because they let us explore the facets of being a human. Yeah, and yeah, Hal's a great father, which makes the hero news all the out here. What was going through your mind when Brennan did that to you, Liam?
Starting point is 00:40:52 Oh, I felt so sad, could you imagine if something I did got my real kid expelled from a school, That sucks. Yeah. That really sucks. And even with Heroes, you know, like very admirable, brave response to it when he talked to her about it, like that ouch didn't go away. Like, it still hurts knowing that, like, I think Howellee is we're all doing right now our characters in the story are doing the things they have to do.
Starting point is 00:41:20 But there's a cost. And maybe there has to be, and it just has to hurt. Consequences being the name of the game. More like Dungeons and Consequences. My fucking right. Tell us then. D&C. D&C.
Starting point is 00:41:41 What is Buller's biggest fear regarding Termina? What is the thing that he's the most afraid of? I mean, he's beyond death because it's never actually come up before. being wrong, being killed in the moment of figuring out that this is actually the closest to someone loving him humanly possible is actually the one. There's a person running around who knows him almost better than any other person alive, and is at a core has been actually designed to love him utterly as a sibling, and that's the person who just angrily wants to kill him. That is a bad, on our person.
Starting point is 00:42:28 Ooh. And he also did in fact kill her. He did physically, he and all the other siblings did physically murder the body she was on as part of the production that killed the goddess. So this is so bad. This is everything that he couldn't have imagined anything this horrible as being possible to the very core of his belief that maybe he's good. Oh, owie, owie. It's a little. Ouch.
Starting point is 00:42:59 It's like, it's the zombie of like your parents coming back going, we really fucked up. We're going to have to chop you up now. It's like, we know too much about you, your bad seed. It's just so fucked up. Damn, but I do love the way that Brennan is playing Termina. Upside on face. It's crazy.
Starting point is 00:43:17 It's a cucky girl. It's a cucky girl. She's coo-cary. She's coo-czy fun. Yeah, I hope we find some cookie fun ones. Yeah. I really could use a kooky fun simply. Speaking of Robbie's note in the first schemers arc,
Starting point is 00:43:32 we met a dog. Is Cadigan back, pleased to be back with the hounds of the king? Dog reunion. You guys, I do take real notes for the boasts. He makes a note every time he sees a dog, and that's it. Let's say dog. It just says, nice. Nice.
Starting point is 00:43:51 It takes so many less nose. Yes. I think that that was a, a positive adventure and to go back and to be even less about the union. Shuffa? They're alive. Sorry, my push. Not a gay.
Starting point is 00:44:13 What are we talking about dogs? Dogs, how's the king? It's great. It's a wonder. You hope that you're gonna get to go back to these places. You hope they're gonna feel comfortable. You hope that you're going to see the things that you made a difference even in a short amount of time. So, yeah, of course.
Starting point is 00:44:32 And it's a really, like, that very first soldiers table was so fun. It was just like a classic on the road adventure. And to come back to it now with these higher stakes searching after something bigger, I can't wait for people to see how the pieces tie together. Yeah, that's so true because when we were soldiers out in the world, we had like, one, we had to go on Fimbled. Yeah, Fimbled's Revenge Mission, and then we were just like, I guess we'll just meet whoever we're going to meet. And that was so fun, but now you were soldier V2, and it's like, oh, we've got big wheels of turning. Big plans of Foreman.
Starting point is 00:45:16 That's so fun. No, it's great to be back. Well, 100%. And I think Cadigan's happier out of the city. I think Wolferks happier out of the city. It's the best. Yeah. Okay, Liam, I've got a couple questions for you.
Starting point is 00:45:28 This one's, okay, well, I'm gonna ask my own first because this is my own curiosity. There was an episode, I think, that aired recently where Hal and Murray talk about their distrust of Wicked Tyranny. And I want to know how, where do you think that stands? Yeah. Where do you think it'll go?
Starting point is 00:45:53 now that we have a potential assassination attempt. I never really told Sam at any point in the start of this campaign, but I just decided that I would, that Hal would think that Wic was a dingbat from the jump. Yeah. Just a rich kid caught up in the creed. Which is so sad because he is obsessed with you. I know, I know, I know. And then I liked that.
Starting point is 00:46:17 I mean, he didn't like have any malicious feelings. Just like, oh, yeah, you're sweet. And the quick confession during a group scene with everybody, by the way, I murdered some girl and it was not for any good reason, was like a nuke going off quietly in Hal's head going like, you did what, there's no, and that's all we're going to hear. Yeah. So it just made me put up a wall right away to be like,
Starting point is 00:46:42 I have to be careful around you because I don't know, you know, like anyone that I work with right now is two links away from. for my children, and we're not playing a kid's game here. This is a dangerous game we're playing, so knowing you're telling me that you will flip in a split second with no thought of this girl's life, whoever she was that you murdered. But I also know we're friends playing a game together,
Starting point is 00:47:11 and I'm thinking of the now and I'm thinking of the later, and I feel like, where are we in the timeline? I know that circumstances, circumstances are going to change that opinion with time. Yeah. Do you think that Hal views tyranny as more or less capable, but certainly complicit in whatever Wick decides to do? He doesn't have a good read on you yet, really.
Starting point is 00:47:40 Barely talk to each other. Yeah, I know. I mean, we got together, but you're already, you're running, like, you're, where are you right now? You went off and did your own, set your solo. solo-soling it. There's a little bit of overlap with Boler. It's like you're a what?
Starting point is 00:47:56 You're not even from this. You're from another dimension. She doesn't even go here. You don't even go here. So I don't know what to make of you. I mean, sounds bad at face level being a demon. It tracks. I think that for a guy who is really just concerned about his family
Starting point is 00:48:14 and protecting the people that he loves, having a loose cannon. Nepo baby, who is the enemy's family, and his assistant is like, I would be distrustful. I will say for his thoughts on tyranny though, is that for all that WIC, all these months, or a year or however long it's been that Hal has known
Starting point is 00:48:39 and wants to be an actor so bad, and he's so awkward sometimes and so charismatic at others, like in surprising ways, but tyranny is the one who seems, and I don't know about stats, I don't know what your stats are. Sam's must be good for what he's playing, but, like, tyranny seems like she's dripping with Riz. She's, but she's keeping it rained in because of where she is.
Starting point is 00:48:59 The roles that I have been having say otherwise. I understand that, but, but our human traits at the table sometimes outshine what the dice do, and so he doesn't know what to make of you. He doesn't know if you're dangerous or how you're going to fit into this grander portrait of our time in history. But there's no question. that she is like this woman busting with personality and charisma in this really weird position
Starting point is 00:49:27 as a, what you guys are supplicants? Is that the word? Aspirants? Yeah. You're an, you are an assistant. You are like an admin assistant to. I always viewed it as like televangelism. Oh, a miracle. Look at what. Tadda. Yeah. Well, I'll take it. Magician's assistant. Yeah. I missed something. You made a confession that you murder. You murder person? No, no, no. Wick did. In a big group, all of us. Primus. You cracked a beer. Oh.
Starting point is 00:49:57 Yeah, you cracked a beer about it. It was really funny. Oh, that was that moment. Yeah. Remind me what that moment was. Well, you say. In the story, he went to the Taconas estate, ran into Taconas and Tacitus is like, you're a dead man. That's right. Unless you slash this woman's throat right now. And you did it. That's right. And then he brought it up
Starting point is 00:50:16 with us in this big group table, and I and howled an inward record scratch, but the conversation kept going. It had to keep, dude, that's the nature of the overture. We would blow right past it. But that's also, can I just speak to that really quick?
Starting point is 00:50:29 That's also the nature of the fantasy versus, like, reality about how you deal with stuff in a game overworld versus how you do with it in real life. Like, in a game where, like, life and death is more common, right? We're not every other day out there fighting for our lives, right? But it's still a big deal to do something bad, but maybe in this world, that's not enough for you.
Starting point is 00:50:48 to completely write somebody off, right? But this for me is like when you're at a party and you have a few too many and you confess to somebody about something that you've done that you feel like maybe you're in a safe space with. And that person might not be enough for that person to write you off, but they're gonna log that away. And it's gonna color how they think about you moving forward.
Starting point is 00:51:09 Yeah, it's true. People don't always just say the thing out loud and go, hey, that's fucked up and I don't trust you now. Yeah, and it might not be enough to like really, you know, whatever. You might have these moments, but it's interesting. It will change that relationship. And for balance, like, Hal at this point has already killed some very scary, dangerous, aggressive, people in a sewer.
Starting point is 00:51:30 I mean, he's not, like, he's not Pollyanna. And he's embroiled in this big political danger zone. And his brother was, you know, tied up and everything he's in. Like, there's nobody's perfect. I've been best friends for so long with this. What is this? Right. So nobody's perfect here, but it definitely went.
Starting point is 00:51:51 That sewer was a very particular circumstances. And you were, you were shell-shocked. Sure, but it's not enough to me to make me go like, get out, get out of my house. Yeah, I mean, combat is something that you do in this world, and sometimes it ends in a fight to the death. Do you think there's any players out there, chat? Are there any players out there that do a full white hat that say, I'm not going to kill in my D&D game? I wonder. I wonder.
Starting point is 00:52:15 I know that Sam really really. intentionally was like I'm not going to try to do violence against people. And Caduceus hasn't done a single, Caduceus hasn't done a single point of damage in the last five games he's played in. Wow. I make a point. Those are fun video game play-throughs
Starting point is 00:52:30 where you try to fully stealth and knock everybody out. I don't think they called it white hat, but there was a thing of no, like if you do damage to someone, if you do violence in the game, it actually has weight. I'm trying to remember what people used to do that in the 90s. That seems like that's what Sam is doing because he has used like color. spray, he's like done a lot of protection stuff,
Starting point is 00:52:51 but has not attacked anybody except for when he killed. The lady. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Lady. The lady. Yeah, knowing how Sam plays, I see a lot of guilt. It's very interesting. This is a question for everybody.
Starting point is 00:53:03 We got some new art, and it's so great. Not fan art, canon art with our costumes. Oh, oh. And I want to know what everybody thinks about it. I will go first, because it's my show. It's so pretty. I just want to say, because the question is,
Starting point is 00:53:22 are there any parts of them that you want to highlight? And everybody has really cool level ups. I really like, because I didn't give any direction, really love that the wife knife is involved in the art. And I also love that she seems to be more oppressed by the ruffles. Sorry to the cosplayers. There are way more ruffles this time.
Starting point is 00:53:44 And I feel like as this sort of like double agent scheme that Wic and Tyranny were trying to do is like falling flat on its face, it's almost like she's being swallowed up by the Candescent Creed uniform. And I thought that was a really cool choice on Lauren's part. Metaphor. Metaphor.
Starting point is 00:54:04 Now you guys, go. How is wearing the outfit he saves for like opening nights? So it's not the same clothes. It's a different outfit. And when it came back, it was actually too perfect and clean and too styling. So I requested that they make it look a little faded like it had been worn before, but still like a gorgeous outfit. And he just, and that's what he's been rocking since opening night,
Starting point is 00:54:29 which was not that long ago. Two weeks? Yeah. Yeah. And no one's changing their pants and underwear every day in this world. Sorry. Yeah. It's not happening.
Starting point is 00:54:40 How was it? Every other year for Kattegan? You think he wears underwear? Thank you. No, I do not. Just buckskin, baby. An actual pancake and butter. Yes.
Starting point is 00:54:50 I feel like Cadigan got a little bit yassified. Like, he's, he's magging a bit in it. He did. I wasn't by my request, but I'll accept it. Well, he's also not quite as big a piece of shit as when we first met him. Yeah, but he also didn't get any major upgrades except for the cloak. Yeah. And I like it that way.
Starting point is 00:55:11 I think he's the type of, he has no money in his pocket for, reason. I think he's got five silver right now. Yeah. Yeah. Abria's in the chat saying that art looks so cunty. Yeah. I'm waiting on that Tysha upgrade. I know. Let's go, girl. I'm waiting on Tysha, to be honest. Oh, hell. Yeah. I just need her back.
Starting point is 00:55:29 Tarrany needs her back also, but mostly I need a brie. Well, you know what I do have? A fucking wooden finger. Thanks a lot. You agree. I forgot about that. I did agree. I did consent. I did. I did. I consented. Yeah, I just made like action adventure version of it. It's more or less the same
Starting point is 00:55:46 design still has the golden ratio. Yeah. It's just cleaner, more of I'm on a horse, and then different heritage, and it's a femme body. Now, proportions have changed. There is a green ear and green
Starting point is 00:56:04 skin underneath the helmet. It's not a body that I've selected. We were just like, let's just keep changing it up. And then I love that fucking coat. I added the, it's made of soul's coat. And I, if you look in the lining is all screaming faces, and then the exterior is smoky hands trying to claw their way out of the fabric.
Starting point is 00:56:27 I love it. It's so cool. I wish we could see Tyranny's amazing sole bikini. I think about it all the time. I think about it all the time. There is, there's, there's, honestly, that's all I really wanted. So you are sorry.
Starting point is 00:56:39 You are so. Okay, Rob, oh, also I just wanted to shout out. Wicks new outfit has a little lion emblem, you guys so sweet. Kattegan, what does, Robbie, what does Kattegan think of Blair's interrogation techniques, especially as a former soldier? And somebody was so nice to me at the beginning.
Starting point is 00:57:06 I really like, that made an impression. Oh, I don't think Cadigan's ever out for wholesale cruelty, but he is a pragmatist. So that's tough because I don't think there's a world where Cadigan hasn't tortured someone before. No. Yeah, which sucks, but he takes no joy in it. I think mine's faster. Well, and I also think that maybe I'm wrong, but I do think that he sees a little bit of the, maybe joy is the wrong word, but the satisfaction in it from Boler and that makes him uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:57:41 It's definitely, again, because Boler is written and not, is not a, is not totally a product of upbringing. And then it is the very core of his nature. So it is not even that he enjoys it. He's written to enjoy it because it's what he's for. Yeah, that's great. So it is just kind of him at his most relaxed because he's not trying to be anything other than what he is.
Starting point is 00:58:07 And on that towel, What does Boler think of the judgment that's being thrust upon him because of his actions? This is the interesting thing of just being at a table with characters. Not necessarily, the players understand this but the characters of like,
Starting point is 00:58:26 what the fuck's your problem? I'm like, how can you not see what the problem with this is? He hates it. He fucking hates it. It is just destroying years of his life and every positive, like every good thing that's ever happened to him is just being shoved out the fucking window.
Starting point is 00:58:44 I feel like Boler should just become like a gala mask and go to a bunch of parties and enjoy. Yeah, that's literally what I was doing. I just wanted that in a nice apartment. Yeah, I was fine. Yeah, just being a bougie little bitch. That shit's over. Yeah.
