Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to culture and Christianity. I have been saying for weeks that God is moving in the earth. And the question that comes back to me more than any other since I've started saying that is, well, tell me what you see. And the implication is we're not sure we see that, or we're not, help us understand why you would frame that. So this session, I'm going to share with you some excerpts from a podcast you've already heard, but they're friends of my people. I'm do in life with that have God stories. No other way to explain it without the supernatural involvement of God, the outcomes and the lives of the people we're going to listen to would have been dramatically different. Didn't deliver there from challenges, didn't keep them from
Starting point is 00:00:43 problems, didn't mean they didn't face some significant things, but God intervened in remarkable ways. And one of the ways to understand God moving in the earth is we're going to raise our awareness of those places where there's outcomes that God really deserves, acknowledge for. I know that's, I feel that's true in my day-to-day activities. There's outcomes in the things that I'm involved with that I can't explain without God's involvement. And I pray that you're engaged in activities where you're inviting God into the midst of lives and families and circumstances, not living foolishly or recklessly or casually, but living intentionally with faith. If we will do that and lead with our faith, I am quite confident you will see God moving.
Starting point is 00:01:29 your life. It's Christmas time. We're celebrating Mary and Joseph and the birth in Bethlehem and the whole set of circumstances that I'm sure you're more than a little familiar with. None of those invitations were easy. They were all highly disruptive, filled with anxiety. The outcomes were beyond the control of the people who were participating. And yet from our vantage point, we celebrated as God was moving in the earth. Well, he's still moving in the earth. If we're willing to accept his invitations and the disruptions that often come with those and the uncertainty that comes from trusting God. I have friends that say, well, it's not uncertain. I have faith. Well, I appreciate your boldness. But I think if it's a true God invitation, you understand the vulnerability that
Starting point is 00:02:13 until God shows up, the outcomes are simply inexplicable. I think it's a good way to live, but it's not always the simplest way. So I hope you enjoy the podcast. More than that, I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas. It is an honor to have this time with you on a regular basis. And to be a small part of what God is doing in the earth. Together, I believe we can make a difference in our churches, our communities, our homes, our nation, and even beyond that. So I pray your Christmas is Mary, that you enjoy the people you're able to spend it with. And we will pick up the thread of this messaging of God moving in the earth in January. I think January 9th is the next episode scheduled to be posted. And I trust I will have a pocketful of God's stories to share with you then. So God bless you and Merry Christmas. We're going to do everything that we can. I can assure you, but this is severe and you need to be prepared. From there, we hit our knees and prayed for a miracle.
Starting point is 00:03:25 We did. I just started, what about me, what's in it for me? And that's what started me down the wrong road to becoming casual with my, my, I never walked away from God. I prayed a lot whenever I was living a life that I shouldn't have been living. You know, there was no catastrophe in my life that pushed me to drinking so much. It was just kind of the lifestyle and whether it just be nerves going on stage or just not being able to sleep in a bus, the lifestyle just led me further and further down the road.
Starting point is 00:03:53 brain cancer they're trying to do treatments on it she's lost all over here and all but it ain't it's not going very well so the chances are she's not gonna make it and right there behind me in her inner locked gated pool was his little body face down in that pool I'll let you kind of step in. I got the phone call to come to the hospital because he was misbehaving. Severely. But maybe you tell us why you went, and then we'll kind of walk our way through this story. Well, I was actually going for a colonoscopy, and it was here again, 10 years.
Starting point is 00:04:58 I know him well enough. He'd like to drive you to the hospital for one of those. Absolutely. Absolutely. So we get there, and unknowingly to me, I wasn't feeling good already that morning, but, you know, hey, with the prep and all that type, you kind of expect that. So they get me there, and, you know, I'm discussing things with the nurse and all that type. And actually, I code right there on the gurney talking with the nurse. And when she looked around, I was in full. cardiac rest. And I guess at that point in time, everybody that was at the facility wound up responding to me. The local firemen, they responded to me. They did CPR, 36 minutes. They shocked me something like 15 times because I just kept going down. And one of the things that obviously, after I got back on my feet, was that why didn't they give up? I mean,
Starting point is 00:05:47 that's just an amazing thing. So each one of them, I went back. and touched with each one to say, why? Because to me, it would have been easy to give up. And to further the story, they wound up and put a balloon pump in my heart. They got me over to the hospital, flew me to Vanderbilt. By now I'm in a full coma. Put me on a vent and induced me into a coma for four days and dropped my temperature by 10 degrees. And I think they tell the family to be prepared that I'm not going to make it. And it probably looks like 1%. And if I did live, no telling what I would be. We went over to the emergency room, and we were met by the attending physician that day.
Starting point is 00:06:40 And they care you that at consultation room that nobody really wants to go to. And he said, we're going to do everything that we can. I can assure you. but this is severe, and you need to be prepared. And from there, we hit our knees and prayed for a miracle. We did. And then somewhere in that part, I got there. So a little bit of this I saw.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Yeah. And they did pray. And then the doctor came out when they got you ready to transport. I was there for that meeting. And, I mean, he wasn't particularly hopeful. No. said we're going to move, but you'd been gone too long, and they've lowered your body temperature, and we asked if we could see you before they took you to transport you.
Starting point is 00:07:29 You've had better days. I had an idea. You're not a pretty man on your best day. Well, thank you. But on that day, you looked about as bad as he describes you. Absolutely. Ricky's wife and I would go out in the hallway to ask the really tough questions. and when we finally determined or got, I guess, clarity that he's going to live,
Starting point is 00:07:51 then it was a question, okay, how bad is it going to be? And so they went from severely damaged heart. So we're thinking, we're talking transplant here, we're talking life-altering, life-changing, never be able to, you know, to, he had a stint put in and went home. And I remember, you know, asking the doctor, you know, so what can we expect from his activity level? You know, if it's that severe and what I had not understood, and, you know, again, part of the miracle, he said, no, you're not hearing me. He's going to be what he was before. And I said, without any transplant, without any open heart surgery, without anything, he said,
Starting point is 00:08:41 yeah he's going to he said we've done test after test his heart is strong he said it's damaged but he said the part of the heart that is damaged will overcome that part get stronger and there's a chance that another part of his heart will get stronger as well so no we're not facing any of that stuff and i said i don't understand how did we go from being that severe to being able to to i said you got to understand he he's a hard worker he's physically active And he said, all you can say is it's a blessing. What you've received is a blessing. And I'll say this too.
Starting point is 00:09:20 The day before the event, I was putting up a fence on the farm because I farm on the side and always have. This day, now, I'm still putting up those same fences. I do everything that I was doing. God gave me two miracles. He let me live, but he gave me my life back. And that is such a critical piece that I have my full life. You know, you don't have to look far to see that our economy is in real turmoil. Our nation is $37 trillion in debt.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Inflation rates made it hard to buy and sell a house. Even a car, we're all feeling it. When you go to the grocery store and you spend an extra dollar or two in every item, that gets personal in a hurry. Well, the most important thing we can do during uncertain times is to invest ourselves in knowing God better. read his word, pray. That's the only place we're really going to find stability we need for the disruption that I'm pretty certain is ahead of us. You know, beyond that, it's just plain wise to make the best decisions possible in our daily lives with our investments. When you think of all the options out there, gold is an investment that has stood the test of time. That's why I work
Starting point is 00:10:30 with preserved gold. They've treated me with honesty, integrity, kindness every step of the way. They're offering a free wealth protection kit, and all you need, to do is text Alan, that's A-L-L-E-N to 50-505. As a bonus, you'll get up to $15,000 in free gold and silver with a qualified purchase. Go ahead and text them today. But because of my dad's hard work, he had been very successful, business-wise, very successful. He unfortunately died at 61 years of age, of a brain aneurysm, but he was still working 12 and 14-hour days. I never saw the man sick.
Starting point is 00:11:11 I never saw. That's why I was such a shock when he passed away. I never saw any of that coming. And if you can imagine, all of a sudden, at 33 years of age, being thrown into a situation where you're starting to let people go and shut down companies. And it was a tough time for me. And for about three and a half years, I literally was dissolving companies and letting people, you know, sending people on their way more or less.
Starting point is 00:11:31 At the meantime, I was trying to keep my mom alive. And after that time period, I just started. What about me? What's, what's in it for me? And that's what started me down the wrong road to become a casual with my, my, I never walked away from God. I prayed a lot whenever I was living a life that I shouldn't been living. But it gradually, it's important with who you hang around with, because it's very easy if you hang around with the wrong crowd. Things that you really in the beginning thought, well, no, I don't want to be part of this, start to become like, that's not that big of a deal. Dirty jokes here, a little this air, a little that there.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Next thing you know, you're in the bars, you're drinking, you're doing different things. And it just led me down a path that I really shouldn't have went down. Well, and I know you and somebody's got into working out and lifting a lot of weights. I did that for a period of time, for all the wrong reasons. It was all about vanity. That was in 2005, and I worked out two and a half years. I was in the gym six days a week. For all the wrong reasons, I would tell you it was for my health.
Starting point is 00:12:25 I was in my mid-40s, but it was really about vanity for me. About two and a half years into that. And we came off a dive trip, and I had a charity golf tournament on a Monday. We got in on a Saturday. And after that event, I was just not feeling well, so I came home early. About two hours after I went to bed, I had an extreme pain in my right side. Trying to make a long story short. I was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and it was two weeks later, they removed the kidney.
Starting point is 00:12:52 Thank God that I went five years, I didn't have to go through chemo or any of that kind of stuff. Right after the surgery, about 3 o'clock in the morning, I woke up, and I had this still small voice. And I said, how's it working out for you? And I cried. And I said, not very well. And the Holy Spirit said, you start to take care of your spiritual strength. Don't worry about your physical. I'll take care of your physical health.
Starting point is 00:13:19 You take care of your spiritual health. And that was the real turn that started turning me back to the Lord. And so that was, I'm a stubborn man, and I didn't turn as quick as I should have. It still took me years, a few years to really fully come back. but that's about the time that God brought us here because the first time or second time maybe
Starting point is 00:13:40 I heard you preach you said something that changed my life in a lot of respects because I was on my way back to really making a commitment to serve the Lord and you said
Starting point is 00:13:50 it's not about your kingdom it's about his kingdom and I need to hear that because my whole life it was about my kingdom and what can I do to get on God's good side to row my kingdom
Starting point is 00:14:01 tell us a little bit about what you did with your Bible Well, right after you told me, it wasn't about me, it was about his kingdom and not mine. We turned January of 2014. And you said, we're going to do something as a congregation. We're going to invite you to read your Bibles. And we're going to read our Bibles in a year from Genesis to Revelation.
Starting point is 00:14:23 One of the things that I can share with you is you read the Word of God is there's some things that will start to change in your life. And one of the things that will change in your life is you'll start to see how holy God is and how unholy you are. and it'll bring you to a place of repentance. If we want something bad enough, we will figure out a way to make it come true. And so we just got to somehow, some way, collate an ideal in our mind that it's important to read the Word of God. And I, like I said, trying to show the fact that I don't want to live my life in bondage. I want to live my life free.
Starting point is 00:14:54 One of the mentors in my life said something to me when I was young, that God will be no man's debtor. And I'm sure I didn't understand it at the time. but I have come to understand that whatever we give to the Lord, he gives back to us in a most remarkable way. Absolutely. Whether it's time or excellence or attention or resources, and I think your story highlights that.
Starting point is 00:15:19 You know, you chose to make a priority out of the, to the Lord in a different way. You had a faith. It was real. It was legitimate. It affected your family. But you changed the nature of how you responded to him. and he met you in a remarkable way. He continues to do so.
Starting point is 00:15:37 Thank you for sharing that with us. Thank you very much for having me. I appreciate you. Appreciate you, too. I have to acknowledge first that I was an alcoholic for, you know, I started drinking down in Mississippi when I was a teenager with all my friends, like teenagers do. And we got signed when I was 20, 20 years old, and I stepped on a tour bus when I was 20 years old and started touring the world.
Starting point is 00:16:11 And that was just a lot to hand a 20-year-old, you know. And we done okay. You know, there was no catastrophe in my life that pushed me to drinking so much. It was just kind of the lifestyle and whether it just be nerves going on stage or just not being able to sleep in a bus. The lifestyle just led me further and further down the road before I realized that I was drinking pretty heavily. you know, and things in my life did, like, start to suffer from it substantially. And there became a boy in my life that I could almost 95% of the problems, I could point to that bottle, and that was the source.
Starting point is 00:16:47 And my mom had prayed for me to quit. My brothers and sisters had prayed for me to quit. You know, finally, I was in Japan one day, and we were playing the show for the troops. And I was just kind of having them, night, and I could feel myself slipping away, that it wasn't me anymore. And I could also feel that this wasn't going to last a lot longer. I tried to call a friend, and I tried to call a friend, and I couldn't get anyone on the phone. And I FaceTime Mr. Charlie.
Starting point is 00:17:20 And he and his wife were sitting there on the couch, and I was sitting there just sobbing and just telling him how unhappy I was in my life. He was a great counsel to me before this time. He always had great advice to tell me. He said, son, he said, you know, he said, if you love your wife and love God, like you say you do, you need to come home and you need to go rehab. He said, there's a good place in North Nashville there, Cumberland Heights, and you need to come on back home and it's about getting in there. And I was like, well, I'll do that. And I would like to say that I got off the phone and was like, and called my wife.
Starting point is 00:17:55 I was, baby, I'm going to go to rehab. I called her. I was like, well, I'm going to rehab. I guess that makes you happy, you know, because, I mean, it was, but nonetheless, and we were working the steps and all those things. And I honestly forgot what step it was, but that was a man that came in there to kind of hear your kind of talk and hear you pour your heart out. And he asked me, and he said, Brad, he said, do you love God? I said, yes, sir, I love God. He said, why are you serving yourself? He said, you're serving God with this. He said, you're serving yourself.
Starting point is 00:18:29 I mean, it hit me hard. And he said, he said, do you love your wife? I said, yes, sir, of course I love my wife. He said, well, then why are you trying to kill her husband? And it hit me between the eyes. And I, that's been the 19th of this month that have been nine years ago. And those nine years have been the best years of my life. And we started coming to church here.
Starting point is 00:18:53 And I think about five years ago. And your sermons have helped me tremendously. tremendously. And they've encouraged me to leave with my faith and to not be a comfortable Christian that sits on a pew and goes out and lives how they want. You've not only made a change, you've made a public declaration of faith. I mean, I've listened to several of the statements you've made on stage. I mean, talking about Jesus and your faith.
Starting point is 00:19:27 I mean, just being real, you've been more straightforward with your concert audience than a lot of pastors, I know. Well, thank you for that. That's not an accident. I am so, I am so thankful to have the chance to say that two minute, you know, because I don't go on and on. I know that I have a very short window before people start shutting down. And people aren't at a rock show to be, to be preached at, you know, but I want to share that with them. And I know that he put me in this position to do exactly that. Well, I want to say thank you.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Go ahead. I'm sorry. And you really, really encourage me to do that. And your sermons of whatever, when you said, whatever arena of life that you work in, take it there. That's it. And you encouraged me to do that. I mean. And you didn't do it because you were perfect or you never made a mistake or you did it in spite of that.
Starting point is 00:20:21 And we all do it in spite of that. Amen. And that was the biggest hurdle for me was realizing that I didn't, that I'd never be worthy to carry that message, you know, and because I was like, I'm not really worthy to get up there and say that. But, I mean, you know, it's like, it doesn't call the prepared. You're right. You're not worthy.
Starting point is 00:20:46 I'm not. But we're bragging on the one who made us worthy. That's right. You know? We're not telling our story. Absolutely. We're not there because we're smart or bright or talent. The Lord has blessed us.
Starting point is 00:20:55 Amen. Almost everybody I know wants to feel better, have more energy. I mean, myself included, I went to a concert a few months ago. It's been almost a year ago now, and I sat down next to a friend Jordan Rubin was there. I made an offhand comment. I need to feel better, get a little healthier. You showed up in my office a couple days later with a plan for me. Part of it was a diet.
Starting point is 00:21:20 My diet was centered on Oreos. He had some different ideas. but a part of what he brought to me was this multi-college and protein. It's been a part of my routine for months now, and it's made a difference. More energy, I feel better, my joints feel better. It's real food, from real food sources, helps us feel better. I recommend it to you. It's made a difference for me.
Starting point is 00:21:39 I think it'll help you. Just go to ancientnutrition.com. You can put in code Allen 30, that's A-L-L-E-N-30. You'll get a 30% discount, and it'll also bless our ministry. Again, that's ancientnutrition.com, Allen, A-L-L-E-N-30. You get a 30% discount on multi-college and protein. You'll feel better, and you'll bless our ministry. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:22:12 For years, for a long time now, we take a tour in the summer to Israel, and we stopped at a place that was selling, things made out of olive wood nativity sets and such you took out of that place some little olive wood crosses to bring home right we have one of those with us we can hold that up everybody can see it's just a little pocket cross two and the edges are smooth so it's easy to carry so there's a story that goes with one of those crosses and that's really what was the initiated this little podcast yeah it'd probably best to call them woman a woman b woman c because it was passed down, passed down.
Starting point is 00:22:52 But woman, A, taught at... Sounds like you're in the witness protection program. That's right. Taught at Grundy. Now, I knew her husband, and I find out that he's having some heart problems. The first couple of doctors at some couldn't find anything wrong with him. Couldn't get to the problem. So when I saw her a few days later, I just sit here.
Starting point is 00:23:14 I just kind of spur of the moment, because I had some in my backpack. I said, you need this, and I gave her the cross. And there's some people when you give them the cross, they go, oh, thank you. And they kind of look at it. And other people, it's like I gave my check for a million dollars. She was one of those. She was so great. She says, oh, I can't believe this.
Starting point is 00:23:29 This is wonderful. I said, I want you, you two to pray over this thing and ask for direction, ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit, and see how it works out. So I see her about two weeks later. And she tells, she comes out and runs over, and she says, I can't believe it. She said, I never leave home without this cross. And she said, everything is good. They found out what the problem is.
Starting point is 00:23:48 he's got the medication he needs, it's good. Well, then I find out that about a year later, there's another woman that teaches there in school, and we'll call her woman B. She said, I'll do us say hi in the hallway, but I never really had a conversation. She said, look, I think you need this. And she said, the woman looked at her like,
Starting point is 00:24:07 what am I going to do with this? And she said, hold it, pray about it, the God, Holy Spirit's going to help you. And she said, at the time, she said, I gave this cross. I didn't know the half of it. So the next thing she hears a few months. later is that this woman is expecting her first child, which the doctor at that point said,
Starting point is 00:24:24 you're not going to have any. Then in a second examination, they go, ah, you're going to have two. You're going to have twins. And I don't know how we're going to deliver them just yet because you can't have it naturally. You can't have it normal. But she does. Two healthy boys. And woman B, as a friend, woman C, now she's having the same problems. And so woman B gives woman C the cross. And she said, this meant the world to me. I'm giving it to you. It's not magical, but it'll call attention to you. You'll walk through Christ with the Holy Spirit.
Starting point is 00:24:58 Pray about this and see what happens. They'll give you the direction you need. Well, they finally get the permission, whatever they need to adopt. And then the wife finds out that she's expecting a child. Miracles of miracles. So now she has a child when her doctor said, you're not going to be able to have one. Husband B, of wife B, called Mike to give him the good news
Starting point is 00:25:26 that they're having their first child. He said, that's fantastic. That's great news I'm happy for. He said, man, my daughter's not doing too good. They said she's got stage for brain cancer. They're trying to do treatments on it. She's lost all of her hair and all, but it's not going very well. So the chances are she's not going to make it.
Starting point is 00:25:47 The husband of wife, B, if we can follow all this crazy, said, I'm going to send you this cross. It's meant a lot to us. Give it to your daughter, have her pray it. The whole family pray over us. And they ask for guidance, direction, what the Lord has in store for you. So the next, they do.
Starting point is 00:26:04 So the next time she goes for what would be her last chemo and the doctor was telling them, we'll do it, but we haven't seen any results yet. Before they even get started in chemo, they do whatever testing they're doing. He said, I've seen this on occasion. This is a miracle. You have no evidence of cancer.
Starting point is 00:26:23 So now she's cancer-free. That's fantastic. That's miracle and miracle and miracle. God knows how to work out things that we don't. So if somebody's listening and there's more despair or there's a diagnosis you don't like or there's a future that seems bleak, God can change that. Now, what makes my story a little bit different, and I think about this now, as I hear other people's testimony, I think about this. June 4th, 2019, that was the day we lost him. My life wasn't
Starting point is 00:27:00 falling apart. I wasn't in some kind of terrible addiction or searching for some kind of deeper meaning of life. Life was actually good. I was happy. My wife were happy. I do like, really. I mean, you describe it, it's idyllic. Yeah. I mean, the Lord spoke to you something about that. Yeah. Yeah, that day, I felt in my spirit enjoy this moment because it won't last forever. Right in that moment, right after I had that thought, the next thought was, it's quiet.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Where's River? Which is what you think when you have a three-year-old. I actually have a three-year-old now at home. And I think, you know, I could understand that sentiment. I just thought he's never quiet. And it was quiet. And I looked back over my shoulder and right there behind me and in our inner locked, gated pool was his little body face down in that pool. I knew that when I flipped him over, he was going to be coughing and crying and scared and choking. But he wasn't. He was lifeless and cold and silent and his eyes were open and he was skin was blue. And it was it was beyond. horrifying. My daughter was there with me. She's 13 now and we'll forever have that bond together. But I told her to go get your mama in the house. I didn't have my phone on me. And so Amber came out
Starting point is 00:28:33 and called 911 and we started together taking turns doing CPR. But that was a chain of events. That was the beginning of a chain of events that would forever change my life and the course of it in a very dramatic way. God is moving in the earth and at Allen Jackson Ministries. We're doing everything we can to strengthen the church in our nation and wherever God opens the door. We don't intend to maintain the status quo or to gather in our churches for polite Bible studies. We're going to engage our culture with biblical truth and give you the tools to do so. We want our children and grandchildren to inherit a church that's vibrant and vital. And to do that, we've got to make an investment.
Starting point is 00:29:21 Will you give generously to what we're doing at Allen Jackson Ministries? Your partnership will make 2026 the most fruitful year we've ever known. Thank you. At Allen Jackson Ministries, we're committed to strengthening the church and sharing the truth of God's word. When you support this ministry with a gift of $75 or more, we'll send you the Lead with Faith ESV journaling Bible. Your generosity will help us equip more people with the biblical truth and encouragement they need for the year ahead.
Starting point is 00:29:50 Give today at allanjaxon.com In the book, you talk a little bit about going to the hospital and the kids stay home. With the anticipation, you'll come home with the river. And that's because when the EMTs arrived, they were able to get his heartbeat back. And so I thought, we dodged a bullet. And it's going to be a long journey for him to get healthy again, but he's alive, you know, 70 hours, 72 hours or so in the hospital, only to realize that he was not going to make it. Although his heart was beating and his organs were working, his brain was gone. It was too long without oxygen.
Starting point is 00:30:33 So they came in and told us he's not going to make it. About six months after we lost Rive, although there were a lot of. There were times, and Amber and I went to therapy and the kids went to therapy, there were times when it felt good, and I felt like I had made some progress. One night that came crumbling down for me, all of this chaos can't find order. And so my brain is trying to find, to make sense of it, and it would attack me in the middle of a conversation with someone, the slideshow would hit, in the middle of the night, it would hit, in the middle of the stage, in the middle of a song, it would hit me. And so this night in Boise, I thought, I knew the answer to how to bring order to all of the chaos and everything that was falling apart. I knew how to do that. I knew where the piece was.
Starting point is 00:31:21 And that was going to be in a 9mm Glock that I kept in the drawer of the back of my bus for protection. But I grabbed the gun. I put it up to my face. I thought a thought that my brain didn't generate. It's easier to say it that. way than saying i heard a voice but i heard a voice i believe it either way i heard a voice and the voice said this very comforting said this is the way to peace this is the way to rest just squeeze if you don't believe evil has a voice you're naive because if we'll if we all of us tell the
Starting point is 00:32:04 truth we've heard the voice of evil i have And the reason we call it evil, it doesn't play fair. It comes at the most vulnerable moments in our lives when we stand at those forks in the road. And it comes to give us permission for something that will bring destruction. I mean, in your case, it was a Glock. I mean, it's different. It's different. But it knows us.
Starting point is 00:32:30 And it knows where it's why it's evil. In that moment, I realized in layers, I'm not alone. there is an enemy here something is here with me and has been watching me and is now talking to me and I have no defense against it I am backed into a corner
Starting point is 00:32:53 I'm surrounded outnumbered and this overwhelming thought of this enemy started crushing me and as kind of a knee-jerk reaction I just yelled out right there in the bus the only thing I knew from all the old liturgy of my mama. Jesus, please save me. Jesus, save me.
Starting point is 00:33:17 Not, and let me say, I don't even know if I meant that. I don't know if I meant it. But that voice, that enemy's voice stopped. And just as importantly, I stopped having that panic attack enough to drop that gun. That next morning, I woke up and tried to really unpack what happened. And the overwhelming thought of what happened was, I have underestimated the enemy. And way more than that, I've underestimated who Jesus is. In fact, who is he?
Starting point is 00:33:54 Who is he? He speaks to this enemy in the back of the tour bus and stops it. Suddenly, my fear of this enemy becomes nothing. and now I look to him and go, who is this that stops even the voice in my head? Fear him, rather. Then my obsession turns to him. And that's where the true healing was. The true healing for the disciples, just like me, wasn't when the storm stopped.
Starting point is 00:34:23 It was when they saw the one who could stop the storm. So that's how you would answer, why six more months of agony, great? You lost your son? Now, why go through all this? So I could look to him, the one who could stop even a voice in my head. And if you don't know where to begin, I like your prayer. Jesus help me. Please, Jesus, open my, I don't know what this means. I can't understand this Bible thing.
Starting point is 00:34:49 I don't even know if it's meant to be read, but Lord, will you open my eyes to your truth? That's a good way to start. Hey, thanks for joining me today.
