Culture & Christianity: The Allen Jackson Podcast - What Happens When a Government Turns Against the Church [Featuring Rob McCoy & Son Hyun-bo]

Episode Date: August 7, 2026

A pastor was jailed in South Korea for preaching biblical truth—and he says America is closer to following the same path than most people realize. In this episode of Culture & Christianity, Past...or Allen Jackson sits down with Pastor Rob McCoy and South Korean Pastor Son Hyun-bo, who spent five months in prison for standing by his biblical convictions. Together, they discuss South Korea's rapid cultural shift, the growing threats to religious freedom, and why the American Church cannot afford to remain silent. Their conversation is a sobering reminder that preserving freedom requires courage, conviction, and faithful discipleship.

Starting point is 00:00:00 There's been a rapid change in South Korea. So can we start by telling us what's happened? Korea has gone through this abundance and there's apathy. And the next generation, though they want to save their country, the churches and the pastors aren't standing. They're yielding to the tyranny. South Korea used to be a free country. I was in prison for five months without conviction or without bail.
Starting point is 00:00:26 I was imprisoned for five months without conviction or without bail just from the words, from the pulpit. South Korea is in middle of very important spiritual warfare, and we have to fight, and we will win. Welcome to Culture and Christianity. This is not an episode like all others. I have a friend who's not new to our culture and Christianity audience. Pastor Rob McCoy, welcome back.
Starting point is 00:01:06 Thanks, Pastor Allen. But you have some friends with you today that they're from a whole different part of the South. That's right. South Korea. Yeah. Yeah, they are definitely from a different part of the South. So introduce your guest, and then we'll put a context together for this. All right.
Starting point is 00:01:22 Well, I have Pastor Sone and his son Chance, and Pastor Sone is the pastor of the largest church in Pusan, South Korea, which is in the South. And he is a precious brother, and you're going to learn a lot about him today. That is awesome. And I think you've brought a video that will give us a context, help us understand. Most of us. are not experts on South Korean culture? You know what? Four years ago, I knew very little.
Starting point is 00:01:48 I knew my father had served over there in the Korean War as a lieutenant, J.G. I knew of the Korean War. Never had been there. And I got a crash course, and I've been drinking from a fire hydrant. But I know a little bit more now. Well, we need to know because we need to know how to pray. Amen. And how to respond.
Starting point is 00:02:07 So is there any background they need for the video? Yeah. So I'll talk about how Pastor Sondon. and I met and why this became so important to me. And it was also a promise to Charlie Kirk. Charlie had been with me in Korea four days before he was murdered. And I had invited Charlie to come out because there was a movement called Build Up Korea, which would be the equivalent of Turning Point USA, a large conservative youth movement happening in Korea with believers, young believers. And I told Charlie, I'd been there four years in a row. And I said, Charlie, you've got to come see
Starting point is 00:02:41 this. And I didn't think he'd say yes. And he did. And when he came out, I had become very close friends with Pastor Sohn. I introduced him to Pastor Sohn. And you're going to see from the video why they were threatening the arrest. And I told Charlie, Pastor Soan is likely going to be arrested by this new administration, this new president. They're socialist and left-leaning and very anti-religious. And Charlie turned to Pastor Sown and said, I'm not going to make promises on behalf of my government. But I'm going to do everything in my power that if you're arrested, I'm going to get eyes on it. And he did. We got back and then that Monday, we got word that Pastor Sown had been arrested. And I got the arrest order and all the information to Charlie. And he was going to feature
Starting point is 00:03:25 it on his podcast on Thursday. And of course, we know he was murdered September 10th that Wednesday. So I was keeping a promise to a friend. And I went out and visited Pastor Sown in prison, protested in front of the Supreme Court building and gathered pastors. And it's been a process. And the reason why Pastor Sone's arrested, why I'm standing with him, why Charlie made a promise to him, is going to be evident in the video. And then secondly, just to let your audience know, they want to re-arrest him. He's a threat to this, I want to call it a regime, but he's a problem. because he stands for religious liberty and Christian values and principles.
Starting point is 00:04:09 And that's it. That's it. So here's the video and then I'll share more about him. Okay. The video gives us all a context. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the government ordered all churches to shut down. A sanctuary built for 5,000 was told to hold only five people. Pastor Sun Yunbo declared, we will not live like circus bears obeying every command. We will stand for freedom of worship.
Starting point is 00:04:34 His voice echoed across the nation. Eventually, Sigero Church was charged and its doors were forced to close, yet the congregation gathered on the lawn to worship God. He cried out, even if this place is shut, we will worship in the parks, on the beaches, and even on the streets. That day, every major news outlet reported on this scene. The government threatened to permanently close the church, but nationwide, church's outrage and solidarity rose up.
Starting point is 00:05:01 Within just three days, the government reversed its decision, and worship was once again allowed across the nation. Later came another threat. The anti-discrimination bill, seeking to legalize homosexuality, was about to pass the National Assembly. Pastor Sun Hune Bo and Sigero Church made a tearful appeal to churches across the nation.
Starting point is 00:05:21 The appeal spread swiftly across the nation, and most denominations in churches stood together in response. On October 27, 2024, 1 million Christians filed 20 kilometers of downtown Seoul, praising and worship. and another million joined online. Together, they surround the National Assembly in prayer. From that day forward, no political force in Korea has dared to revive the bill. And then came
Starting point is 00:05:47 the Save Korea movement. The Democratic Party, led by pro-North leftists who still controlled the assembly, attempted impeachment more than 30 times, and in the end even removed the president. In response, Pastor's son and others formed a nationwide movement to defend freedom and democracy. In Pusan, Degu, Guanjud, Dejan and Seoul, week after week, hundreds of thousands gathered in each city, crying out for freedom and praying for God to protect the nation and the church. 70% were conservative Christians and 30% were ordinary conservative citizens. But when the president was impeached, the government began open persecution.
Starting point is 00:06:44 On the first day of the presidential election at dawn, authorities raided Sigero Church seizing Pastor Sun's office, study, and even his cell phone. To this day, left-wing media ceaselessly attacked Sigero Church and Pastor Song, making distortion their daily work. From the days of COVID to the impeachment crisis, Pastor Son and the church faced over 20 indictments, appearing before police, prosecutors, and courts almost every week. Yet Seguero Church is not stopping.
Starting point is 00:07:12 Freedom of worship, the order of the family, and the defense of liberty and democracy. For these results, they continue to continue to. stand to this day and always. To begin, I just want to welcome you to Tennessee. It's an honor to have you. Thank you so much for having us. Thank you so much for having us once again.
Starting point is 00:07:32 I've been to Korea a number of times, and it's taking me this long to memorize one word, Kamsami da. It means thank you. Well, chance is going to interpret for us because my Korean is a little weak. So I think we start, you know, what I've been aware of, of South Korea is the world's largest church, a thriving Christian community, a beacon of capitalism, you know, in a part of the world where that's not celebrated. And there's been a rapid change in South Korea. So can we start by telling us what's happened?
Starting point is 00:08:09 Yeah, if you don't mind, I'll go even a little bit further back just to give you an overview of why this nation's so important to America. So Korea was part of the Imperial Japanese Empire, and they were slaves to the Imperial Japanese. Of course, the United States secured in one World War II, defeated the Japanese. And Korea, while under occupation of the Imperial Japanese Empire, they had had American missionaries come and share the Lord with them. And they have a cemetery to American missionaries who codified their language. and it rapidly grew. And these pastors and Korean Christians stood in defiance to the Imperial Japanese
Starting point is 00:08:53 and faced all kinds of persecution. So then Japan falls, America is victorious, and they become a nation in 1948, August of 1948. Then in September of 48, North Korea, influenced by the communist, by Russia, then becomes North Korea. And as we know, shortly after that, that the Korean War occurred where the North Koreans and the Chinese invaded the South. And our soldiers who had just fought in World War II came back online under General MacArthur
Starting point is 00:09:26 and fought valiantly. We lost 36,500, I think, 40 U.S. military personnel. We established the 38th parallel. The 38th parallel divides both north and south. And at the 38th parallel, south, is all the rocky coastlands. from the 38th parallel north is all the fertile farmland. So the north got all the farmland, the south got all the rocky coastline.
Starting point is 00:09:52 But the south got freedom and the north got communism. They were both the poorest nations, GDP, on the earth. And here we are today, South Korea, they call it the South Korean miracle. They're now, I believe, the sixth wealthiest nation on the face of the earth. And if you look at a picture of the South Korean Peninsula, insulate night. The north is dark as night and the south is lit with industry. And so the reason
Starting point is 00:10:22 why there was such a miracle that occurred is because of that Christian population. I mean, the same wasn't happening in Vietnam and we lost soldiers and didn't gain anything. But here in Korea, when you speak of the sacrifice of these soldiers, American soldiers, they love America more than Americans do. But what's occurred in South Korea is we have sent, it's, it's the largest Christian population of any nation, Asian nation. A third of the population of 58 million are Christians. The largest church in the world, full gospel church is in Seoul. And they are so committed. And just like World Outreach Church, the South Koreans, the Christians, they pray every morning, very early. They are praying people. Well, they also value education. And so they've sent their
Starting point is 00:11:17 pastors to the United States to seminaries to train them to obtain their masters and their doctorates. And they've been infused with what's happened to many of the seminaries in America. They've become liberal. So they've come home ungodly. They've come home compromised. And so now with this rise along the titler cycle where you have bondage, then faith and faith comes freedom freedom comes abundance, abundance, abundance, apathy, apathy, dependence, dependence, bondage. Korea has gone through this abundance and there's apathy. And the next generation, though they want to save their country,
Starting point is 00:11:52 the churches and the pastors aren't standing. They're yielding to the tyranny. Pastor Sone is a unicorn. He was a special forces of a soldier, 701st special warfare unit. He was born in abject crushing poverty. His testimony is unbelievable. When I met him, I thought, I just thought you guys are two peas in a pod.
Starting point is 00:12:17 And I say that sincerely because Segaro means world outreach in Korean. And both of the churches started with 20 people. And it's not about flash. And it's just disciplining people and changing the world. And when I called you and told you Pastor Sones coming because they want to re-arrest him, they put him in prison. And they put him in a three by seven cell, solitary confinement for five months. When we met with him, they put us behind five inches of plexiglass.
Starting point is 00:12:50 And it was awful what this man endured and his family. But he's looked at it as, you know, I'm on a mission. And he's never been discouraged by that. His life was designed for this purpose. And he's a great threat to this South Korean administration. And they want to put him back in prison. and at the end of September, beginning of October. And so I just, I said, come on over.
Starting point is 00:13:14 Let's get eyes on this and let the world hear what's happening to the largest Christian nation in Asia. Because, and I'll close with this, I preached in his pulpit when he was imprisoned to encourage the congregation. And on the day that I preached in his pulpit at Segaro Church in Busan, UN forces 80 years earlier, had delivered Seoul from communist Chinese. Now, this administration is allowing Chinese to come in without a visa. If they're there for four months, they get to vote. The cultural center of South Korea is called Jeju Island. That is predominantly owned by Chinese.
Starting point is 00:13:55 I want you to say that again. They're allowing the Chinese to come into South Korea. Without a visa. With no visa, open border. Open borders. And after four months, they can vote as if they were South Korea. And so they were citizens of South Korea. And it has changed the culture rapidly.
Starting point is 00:14:10 It's rapidly changing. And in addition, they also have packed the Supreme Court, which is what Alan Dershowitz says is a death blow to any democracy. They are trying, we're going to lose South Korea to communism without a shot being fired. And the greatest threat that stands in the way of that is this man's faith. And those Christians that are brave enough to stand. And they're realizing they're losing their country. And they want to take the man who's leading these folks to awaken and stand in opposition to it. They want to put him in prison.
Starting point is 00:14:49 You know, this podcast is made possible because of sponsors. And one of our sponsors is preserve gold. And I appreciate their partnership with us. And I pray it's a blessing to you. You know, one of the things that I hear most often right now is this, that people are doing their best plan for the future. But they're not sure what to trust anymore. You know, the headlines, they change every day. And the economy, it feels pretty unprecedented.
Starting point is 00:15:12 predictable. And that uncertainty, it's unsettling to all of us. But as people of faith, we're not called to live in fear. We're called to live with wisdom, with discernment, and with peace. Well, part of that is simply taking practical steps to protect what you've worked so hard to build and establish for yourself and your family. That's why many are turning to time-tested assets like gold and silver, not as a reaction, but as a way to bring stability into their financial plans. It feels like we're looking through a window at our future if there's not a dramatic change here.
Starting point is 00:16:26 Amen. And one of the things Pastor Sown said, you know, he's grateful to have the backing of the pastors in the United States and even this administration, as the vice president was instrumental in his release the first time. And we want to go to Washington and try to meet with the president, and get a picture, which will do wonders in stopping the South Korean administration from putting him back in. But we were both talking last night saying, if America, if America falls, where are we going to go for help? South Korea can come to America.
Starting point is 00:16:54 But if America doesn't continue to stand and stand in defiance as we're watching a socialist, communist takeover. The Democratic Party is basically Democrat Socialists. And this is a bloodless civil war in the United States currently. And I believe Pastor Sone is. he's a harbinger to allow us to see what awaits us if we don't do the right thing. Oh, I agree.
Starting point is 00:17:18 You know, if the American church fails, God's purposes will go forward, but there'll be suffering for the body of Christ. So it's an important time. Well, what a privilege to have you visit with us. I think I'd want to start with, you know, what would you say to the American church? What do you say to what do you want to say?
Starting point is 00:17:37 We can be taken away. Freedom can be taken away just suddenly. Hong Kong was very very country. South Korea used to be a free country. Jape government after the government took uprored and
Starting point is 00:17:51 the democratic party took the power in Korea and the government changed that it was so sudden, even before people realized and there was a big shift. China and
Starting point is 00:18:03 was a big shift. Very poor North Korea and also pro-China, anti-US. Even, the religion of chimeshury law
Starting point is 00:18:15 and also have come up with a law, legislation called Church Closure Act. I'm in
Starting point is 00:18:24 the daybe during the time, I was in prison for five months without conviction or without
Starting point is 00:18:33 bail just because just from the words, from the pulpit. So our church's bookman is the prayer that the prayer
Starting point is 00:18:41 name is their mind not to not even given to give us so a associate pastor
Starting point is 00:18:48 at Segero Church Korean version of World Our Rich Church has also been
Starting point is 00:18:52 indicted because of the words that he prayed for during the prayer meeting at
Starting point is 00:18:57 Segaro Church so that that a moment a society social
Starting point is 00:19:01 communist like the U.S. has become a socialist communist country basically right now.
Starting point is 00:19:10 It doesn't apply to South Korea, but also it might come to your country as well. It will come to you, if we're not awakened, if we don't wake up or if we don't speak out. Sogenging values, we're taking to religion and freedom of freedom, to fight with. So we have to speak out and we have to speak out. We have to fight for freedom and also to protect biblical and Christian values and principles. Jaeu go and completely and we're in un-fries and we can't succeed and we can win the freedom if we decide to fight and also speak out before the freedom gets taken away.
Starting point is 00:19:56 If we're going to be funerous and it's been a bit of being a bit of course. It might be easy for people to be complacent and be really peaceful because if it seems like nothing's happening, However, we have to wake up. Jaeue and have to fight. While we have freedom, we have to fight. I guess I'm curious, because South Korea is prosperous, much more so than North Korea. So what did they promise the people something, or was it anti-American sentiment that helped them gain political power? The same Joppa government was what was what, what kind of what, what, how much do you know, what do you know, or how to give them?
Starting point is 00:20:38 This Jaffa-Jumbu is education They have been controlling media and also education. They've been basically brainwashing through public education over a long time. Can I chime in on this? So the founding president, Sigmund Rie, was educated by American missionaries
Starting point is 00:21:02 and came to the United States to study our Constitution and our Declaration of Independence and half of the half of the, of the founders of South Korea were in the exact same educational stream. And they came to the United States and studied deeply. When they came back and established the Korean Constitution, it is so similar to the American Constitution. And they understand that, as John Adams said, only a moral and religious people can govern a republic. But what transpired is the apathy of the church to engage in the public square and to contend for ideas. Christians have this misunderstanding. They think that peace is the
Starting point is 00:21:41 absence of conflict. But it's not. It's the presence of Christ in the midst of the conflict. He said, I don't come to bring peace but a sword, the sword of scripture, to contend for truth in the public square. And that's what Pastor Sona's done and he's become a great threat. When he says fight, he's not talking about weapons. He's talking about contending with ideologies. And he is well versed in that. I would also say that the youth in South Korea are ready for this. They want to stand for truth. They're hungry.
Starting point is 00:22:10 They were so moved by Charlie. They were chanting in the streets. But this current administration is, it's terrible. So do you have democratic elections? Now, we're not going to, now. Now, our country is now
Starting point is 00:22:29 now are nother now is basically a mess because of election fraud
Starting point is 00:22:34 because of the election was just was just thought there were some mistake if anything
Starting point is 00:22:42 but the last 6th 3 day was not on the
Starting point is 00:22:48 local election which happened June 3 there was something really
Starting point is 00:22:52 not funny afferious to There were people, youngsia more than people in the whole country that weren't able to vote because of the shortage of the ballots. In Korea, 30s,
Starting point is 00:23:11 full-pileged over repatri to government, and so much young adults in their 20s and 30s have been heavily criticizing the current administration and also the election committee as well. They have taken take care and the Song Joaquin and
Starting point is 00:23:27 them are still going to continue to seewe're going to before since then with the Korean flag on the left hand and also American flag on the right hand. Because America is the one who liberated South Korea and has helped tremendously
Starting point is 00:23:45 for freedom of Korea. The government, so far as soon, what's going to do. Yes. So, what, And the court of the Sun Guineer to do not even
Starting point is 00:23:56 unmased things happened. And the current government, of course, they were forced to investigate the election committee before they weren't able to. And there are so many other things that are happening and also being revealed. The previous FCC director
Starting point is 00:24:12 equivalent to our FCC director was in prison. They took the previous administration prison them. They controlled the media. The ballot shortages were all in conservative regions. I mean, It's a mess. It's a fraud. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:25 But they control the media and the political machine. So it's difficult to push back. Truth is never afraid of a lie, but a lie can't survive in the presence of truth. So they need to censor and then put forward their propaganda. And that's what they've done to everything in Korea. And it's sad. But more not the more than before before, And last year,
Starting point is 00:24:49 so far back from in the country in the number to the number of
Starting point is 00:24:55 did that was also new thing came out and which is there were 62 places
Starting point is 00:25:04 where the ballot where they count the ballots and then the national election committee
Starting point is 00:25:10 have changed the numbers of the people that voted and also who voted
Starting point is 00:25:16 for which candidate Now, the President's is the city's totally fuller and 30% 70%
Starting point is 00:25:22 are 70% are against the government is against the current president
Starting point is 00:25:28 have dropped sharply and also young men and women in their 20s and 30s 70% of them
Starting point is 00:25:35 are criticized the government and also against the current administration and the stock market is their stock market
Starting point is 00:25:42 has dropped as of yesterday precipitously I mean they're in trouble we're in trouble. The things we're the roadways were the right now are now
Starting point is 00:25:49 are just so everyone people are being our people we have protested against on the street
Starting point is 00:25:57 during the rallies are becoming reality and that's why a lot of people are paying attention to secular church
Starting point is 00:26:04 and also what we are proclaiming those rallies were amazing I mean the pictures of those millions of people
Starting point is 00:26:12 in the streets that now, now, you know, South Korea and Seventh Korea
Starting point is 00:26:15 were And one of the United 17 is the government by the government of the government
Starting point is 00:26:22 from the government from the reality in Korea we call it 1027
Starting point is 00:26:28 United Worship and that started from Segar Church and we wanted to oppose the
Starting point is 00:26:34 legislation of anti decimation law which we also call it LGBT law basically
Starting point is 00:26:39 prohibiting pastors to speak opposition or saying this is sin But I suspect, I guess I have a question for the government to say there's things you can't say in the church.
Starting point is 00:26:51 There has to be a segment of the population that thinks that's a good idea. Yes. Which for Americans is important because we're having that battle now. May I just say that he was arrested for simply praying for, and really what he would do is he'd lay out the platform and the positions of both candidates. and then he would say as Christians, this man stands with our principles more than this man. Not endorsing a candidate, which shouldn't be prohibitive either.
Starting point is 00:27:26 And he was arrested for that. And then in a prayer, one of his elders is facing imprisonment as a result. And they've come after anyone who's conservative or speaks out. And this is the problem that's happening. I would, for all those who are, are listening, this is the best way to understand what's happening in South Korea.
Starting point is 00:27:50 Imagine you went through four years of President Biden's administration, and Kamala Harris won. That's where we would be today. The churches would be persecuted. This machinery would finish what they had tried to do. That's where we'd be, and that's where they are. So for five months, you were in prison? Five years, five years, there were. Yes. I'm sure you learned something about the Lord in prison.
Starting point is 00:28:21 You've got more than more than more than you've got to know. Yeah, Godin'nism, because God's all right now, I'm going to be different. Because I knew and I believe that God is alive, even if I was in prison or even if I was outside, nothing was different. But I believe Godin'is, we're doing
Starting point is 00:28:45 this country how they're doing this is actually down to give us to give us to give us
Starting point is 00:28:54 I believe God wanted to reveal something that a lot of people weren't aware of in South Korea which has
Starting point is 00:29:00 awakened a lot of Christians in South Korea and also very, I am very grateful how God has used me in order to
Starting point is 00:29:09 awaken some American pastors as well. What government has done in and in terms of the booker can't talk about can't be able to
Starting point is 00:29:15 go to that's given that I'm this is our our world,
Starting point is 00:29:21 and the world and the world's to be more a more a
Starting point is 00:29:25 other that's I believe this has basically proven how the election
Starting point is 00:29:34 result can change the things not only South Korea but also America and how
Starting point is 00:29:40 I we should be fighting for freedom and also protect the biblical principles and values that God has given to us. Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was attacked by pastors in Birmingham, Alabama because he was in prison and they said, you're on the wrong side of history, you're in prison. He responded by saying, no, you're on the wrong side of history. You're not in prison with me. When he first stood, these megachurch pastors didn't want anything to do with them.
Starting point is 00:30:09 The smaller pastors joined. But now as he has continued to endeavor and face this persecution and do it nobly, they're waking up. God is using this man to awaken South Korea. So God designed our bodies to heal. When I came to that awareness, it changed my whole attitudes towards prayer, but it also changed my attitude towards health. We've got a responsibility to do everything we can to promote our own health.
Starting point is 00:30:40 That means what we eat matters. Well, in our busy lives and all the things going on, I have found I need a little help with that. So supplements and vitamins, nutrients, have become an important part of my own lifestyle. Jordan Rubin's a friend, so ancientnutrition.com has become a part of my daily routine. They're a sponsor of this podcast, not just because we needed a sponsor, but because I actually use the products and I believe in them. They have given us an opportunity for you.
Starting point is 00:31:07 You can put in Back to Health 26 as a code. You'll get 26% off site wide on all the nutrients. It's all the supplements. Folks, eating healthy is important, but you can do some things to add to that. Let's stay healthy so we can fulfill what God has for each one of us to do. We have an expression that says, hindsight is 2020.
Starting point is 00:31:29 So looking back, I always see more clearly. So if you could give counsel to yourself five or ten years ago, what do you wish you had known or done then? Five years, ten years ago, something, now as a more, a more, a while that's one of the time, Son Yomboe
Starting point is 00:31:50 Moksa'eming to give that you'd give you want, 10 years? 5 years, 10 years. We're not, we're not going to go to go and
Starting point is 00:32:00 that's right that's wrong and that's Godhame's and the religion to the basic of worldrithed
Starting point is 00:32:07 but I'm still the That's not quite and beena-one years ago when COVID happened, I was basically the only one that fought against the government among megachurches and I have the same biblical principles
Starting point is 00:32:22 and what I believe, what God wants on this world. So I don't think I would change anything but only protect what God wants is to protect and also only listen to God, obey God, not the man or the government. But another, the world. I've got five years, seven years
Starting point is 00:32:40 ago had said this year ago that's going to come to will be able to be able to proclaim and also told the congregation and Korean churches that we might lose freedom Sunday. But people are that what's what's
Starting point is 00:32:54 something else else not-de-lawed-not-de-word-old-old people said, I mean, that's unrealistic and we have freedom now. What do you mean? It's a free country. This day,
Starting point is 00:33:04 in society, society, and communism-jue, It would be so It would be so unrealistic to have Socialism or Communism or North Korea or pro-China power in South Korea. Now, now,
Starting point is 00:33:21 our government's half-isang is that is right now, that's right now 50% of the Korean population knows that it was true. Especially, the country's young people and, of our
Starting point is 00:33:34 opinion and agree with and we're going to together. Korean young youth group,
Starting point is 00:33:41 most of them have been really supportive of the agenda and also what we believe is important. So it has
Starting point is 00:33:49 been tremendously helpful. The youth are going to be the catalyst. Yes. So, we're very
Starting point is 00:33:54 very important young general in unseced in the
Starting point is 00:33:58 country in the war is Kyrgyroa is in middle of very important spiritual warfare and we have to fight and we will win. In fact, our Lordehm, or in the United States, our doggy is a friend to, and pray to do not evening around him. Throughout the process, us fighting against evil powers,
Starting point is 00:34:23 Pastor Rob, my dearest friend, has been tremendously supportive and also helpful and it has awakened a lot of Christians in Korea. and also being a very big encouragement to me, but also to South Korea as well. Even, the U.S. President, to our U.S. President of our U.S. to our country, to the United States, as a good faiths, we're a great,
Starting point is 00:34:48 and power with us in this, are getting together. Likewise, for the brothers and sisters in Christ in the U.S., because you guys have been very supportive and also praying for me when I was in prison. And also, it was remarkable, and it made a big news thing in South Korea when Vice President Vance talked about me twice when he was meeting the Prime Minister of South Korea.
Starting point is 00:35:13 And it's been tremendously helpful. And also, it was a great channel for people to know what's at stake and also what can be achieved. And that the things that we fight for in South Korea is not just us, but also something that the U.S. is also fighting for. Kudos to Erica Kirk, who helped facilitate the vice presidential connection on that. Turning point has been instrumental, and as have many people. Right.
Starting point is 00:35:43 Yeah. But it intrigues me a bit. The young people in South Korea are resisting communism. Yeah. In America, the young people are the most receptive or the most vulnerable to communism. They're targeted, yeah. I mean, we're watching. Barna just did a survey.
Starting point is 00:36:01 And the largest segment in the evangelical church today is 18 to 30-year-old males because there has been a revival, but there's been no discipleship on them. And as a result, we're watching for the first time in our country's history, the evangelical church dividing over Israel and Jews. And they've been targeted. It's a sciop towards that age group. And they're also watching because they don't get the American dream. And Charlie was saying this to the president.
Starting point is 00:36:29 Look, when I was born, I'm 61. When I was born, it took three times your annual income to buy a house. For this generation, seven times your annual income. They're buying pizzas on four payments, predatory lending. And if the American dream is out of reach for them, they're going to join Mom Dani in AOC and burn it all down if they can't have it. But it's the discipleship from the shepherds, the pastors of America, taking these 18 to 30-year-olds who are looking for answers in life and discipling. That's why Charlie was so effective. He'd go on campuses and he disciples them before they became Christians.
Starting point is 00:37:00 He gave him a Christian worldview on communism, abortion, immigration, and now they're showing up at churches, having given their lives to Christ, and these pastors won't even invoke Charlie's name or teach on any of the topics he educated them on. It's this Gnosticism that I just preach the gospel. I don't do politics. I don't do anything in the public square. That's a heresy. It is.
Starting point is 00:37:22 And so I think all of us have to wake up. It's a clarion call. without any question. Our faith is intended to impact our culture. Come on. Not be separate from it. And we are so misguided on that. I think because we lack courage.
Starting point is 00:37:37 Yeah. And our faith is small. We don't really believe it's transformational. We're historians. Charlie used to say in the absence of courage, truth is an orphan. And out of Revelation 21, the very first listing for those who go into the fiery pit,
Starting point is 00:37:51 the cowardly. There's just, we're more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. I mean, be scared, but courage is doing the right thing even when you're scared. Just do it. So somebody listening to us and they're in a church where the pastor doesn't want to talk about current events. Mine another church. Thank you. I'm serious. Because it's not complicated, but I have friends there. This has been going on long, long, too long. And I know your grandfather
Starting point is 00:38:19 bought the pew that you're sitting in and you help do the addition to the, but listen, it's a building. we have a nation to save. And if that pastor's not disciplining, Jesus's commandment, his commission, was all authority's been given to me in heaven on the earth, go therefore and make disciples, not converts, disciples of all nations, baptizing my name of the father, son,
Starting point is 00:38:43 Holy Spirit, proper theology, and teaching them to obey all that I've commanded you. I'll just say this. There's been 10 great revivals in American history. that all led to an awakening until 1870. The difference between a revival and awakening. Revival was people come to Christ. An awakening is where they change culture.
Starting point is 00:39:05 And the reason why it changed in 1870, so from the inception of the nation to 1870, all of these pastors had a revival, and then they disciples their congregants. They would print their sermons dealing with immigration or transportation, or anything that they were dealing with in these 13 colonies, They would show what the Bible had to say on every topic that their neighbors were dealing with. And they educated them and they changed culture.
Starting point is 00:39:33 We created the freest form of government ever known on the face of the earth. We survived a civil war, westward expansion. But in 1870 with Dio Moody and Finney, it was no longer about discipleship. It was about evangelism. And so we've made evangelism an idol and we've avoided discipleship. And if we do disciple, we only disciple on how to evangelize. We don't teach them about engaging. Jesus, when confronted by the Pharisee, ask, what's the greatest commandment?
Starting point is 00:40:00 He said, to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself on these two commandments. Hang the law on the prophets. To love your neighbors yourself, do you want your neighbor's kids growing up in a community where there's two genders? Do you want your neighbor's kids growing up where they won't be taken from the home because you have found out that they've been given hormone blockers that are so inhumane, they won't give them to serial rapists in prison?
Starting point is 00:40:23 but in California, they give them to a 15-year-old without parental permission. And if the parents object, they take the child from the home. Don't you want to contend for their... Don't you love them like you love yourself? Don't you want them to have safe streets? That's discipleship. That's loving your neighbor. And to say, I don't do politics.
Starting point is 00:40:41 I just preach the gospel. You're a Gnostic. No, I agree. And I think where the American church has to wake up is this isn't something that's going to happen in the future. It's happening today. That's right. And I don't think we can imagine it's a little.
Starting point is 00:40:53 what they're facing in South Korea is a long way away from us. I mean, Dr. Fauci, Dr. Science, testifies before Congress, and all he'll do is take the fifth. If he were a scientist, scientists can withstand inspection and questioning. It doesn't have to hide in the shadows. So I don't know what he was doing, but it wasn't science, or he would have gladly answered questions. It wasn't science.
Starting point is 00:41:20 It was scientism. They just make it up as they go. But to have the courage to tell the truth about biblical views on family and marriage and human sexuality. It is, and it doesn't violate Jesus' commandment to love our neighbor. It is the absence of love when you fail to tell the truth. Embracing sin is not love. Is it loving to tell a child they can become the opposite sex? No, it's a lie.
Starting point is 00:41:45 And they mutilate their body. And you call that loving? And you want to talk about science? that's biologically, it will never happen. And you're lying to them. But you think it's compassion. It's not. It's convenience.
Starting point is 00:41:59 And instead of dealing with a rampant drug addiction in San Francisco, you give them needles. That's not compassion. That's convenience. As Christians, we have to do the hard thing. And we're being called to do that right now. And this man is a clarion call for us to wake up. And I think we have to tell the rest of the story on the American Dream. The American Dream isn't just owning your own home.
Starting point is 00:42:19 Come on. The American Dream. is about the freedom to worship Jesus without interference from the government. That's what brought this place into existence. And it's what has brought the blessing of God to us for 250 years. And if our young people want a home
Starting point is 00:42:34 and they don't want to worship God, they're going to get neither the home nor the freedom. And we have to come back and teach them the value of why Jesus at the center of your world and your worldview is important. I always used to call Charlie the most misunderstood missionary in America because he'd go on these campuses where these youth were enslaved in indoctrination
Starting point is 00:42:53 because they weren't education. And he would free them. They'll know the truth. The truth will set them free. He would free them to see a Christian worldview by contending with them and debating with them. And so he's like a Moses. He gets them out of Egypt.
Starting point is 00:43:10 But then when Moses dies, he's dead 30 days. And God says that Joshua, Moses, my servant's dead. He's not coming back. And these people have been enslaved for 400 years. this man in 40 years had taught them about marital law, civil law, and due process. Everything went through that one man. He's gone. They're rudderless, like when Charlie died.
Starting point is 00:43:30 But he says to Joshua, get the priests in the Ark of the Covenant, and you're going to lead them into the promised land when the Jordan parts. The promised land wasn't heaven. And this is what you just said, Pastor Allen. The promised land is a place, yeah, they can own property. They can plant vineyards. They can have gainful employment. they can raise a family, but the greatest thing is the freedom to worship God.
Starting point is 00:43:54 And it's time that the priests, the pastors, take this generation into that promised land. I agree. The pastors have a role to play. But in our family systems, we have to teach our children that the freedom to worship the Lord, that worship the value of doing that, the practice of doing that, supersedes all the other ornaments of the American culture. And we have been co-opted. We're chasing other things.
Starting point is 00:44:20 And then occasionally we'll stop and shout Jesus. And we want to imagine that we're Christ followers. I love that. And we have to teach our children and our young people to yield their lives to the Lordship of Jesus. It's not my life. Now I live in Christ and for Christ. And I'm concerned for our families. I think their intent is good, but they don't realize the degree to which our culture has crept into their worldview.
Starting point is 00:44:45 When you send your kids off to Rome to be educated, you can't wonder why they become Romans. We're in charge. We're stewards of their lives. We can't blame the teacher. We can't blame the coach. We're stewards of their lives. We're going to be held accountable for them knowing God and worshiping God and serving God that they would realize, look, you're living on his dirt, breathing his air, drinking his water.
Starting point is 00:45:10 You're going to live by his rules. That's incumbent upon us as parents. Be not afraid, be not discouraged. It's a biblical phrase. You may be familiar with it. It's also the title for our new devotional and prayer book, A 30-day tool to help you overcome fear and discouragement in your life. Look, we can walk through some uncertain times,
Starting point is 00:45:33 whether it's what's happening in the world around us or in our own personal life. But God's word and the spirit of God will give us the courage to face every challenge with the assurance that we can be triumphant in Christ. You'll enjoy the book. Fear and discouragement can leave us feeling overwhelmed and uncertain. That's why Pastor Allen created Be Not Afraid, Be Not Discouraged, a practical devotional filled with scripture, encouraging insights, and prayers to help strengthen your faith throughout the day.
Starting point is 00:46:03 This resource will help you find renewed courage, hope, and confidence in God's faithful care. Request your copy today with your gift of $15 or more at allanjaxon.com or call 800 8805102. I went through seminary that was godless. Cemetery. I did. They said we could refer to God with,
Starting point is 00:46:25 we couldn't use a male pronoun. We could refer to God as a heavenly parent, as her. So I've been in those contexts where they challenge your faith. They said to me, the faith your parents had, the faith that you learned from your pastor is illegitimate, it's ignorant, it lacks sophistication. We will teach you how to think. I'm grateful that my family, my parents had invested in me enough, that I wasn't influenced by that garbage.
Starting point is 00:46:52 So we have to teach our children. We have to teach them biblical morality. We have to teach them biblical values. I'm not opposed to education, but if we don't do our job, we are surrendering them long before they go to be educated by Caesar. We have educated them in Caesar Light before we let them leave our home. And so then they can't tell the difference. And so our churches and our families have to work together with a different urgency. Amen.
Starting point is 00:47:19 You know, yeah, I could get on my soapbox here. I'm but digging it. It's such an important time. And I think I'm so grateful for your willingness to come. Thank you. Thank you so much. You know, your nation is at a tipping point. Nowherement is too important. And you care enough about the purposes of God to come to America.
Starting point is 00:47:43 and to ask us to pay attention. And then we're going to be here. You know what you're saying, thank you. Americans may have taken the gospel to South Korea, but now the South Koreans are reminding the Americans of the gospel. The booker from America to come to
Starting point is 00:48:01 Korea, but now only now, now, again, so, now, America. I'm of a generation. What we learned about South Korea, we learned, first of all, from a television show called MASH. MASH.
Starting point is 00:48:13 TV show at a time at the time How are you praying for your country? What are you asking God to do? What are you asking God to do? We are trying to give us God,
Starting point is 00:48:27 so every 20 people and 20 people to keep for the God's to keep so hardly
Starting point is 00:48:37 with sweat for South Korea to protect and preserve God's truth and God's word and also the Christian values. And this is church, and society, society, all the in general
Starting point is 00:48:53 community, and I'm also praying that the Christian values not only at the sanctuary, but also to affect culture, tradition, society, and politics all over the country in every aspect, in every component of this world. I've always imagined that you had a stronger sense of family. So how does this change that's come to Korea?
Starting point is 00:49:21 How has it impacted your families? There has been a lot of divisions, just like the U.S. I feel like anything, I think goes back and forth. Anything that happens in the U.S. that's anti-biblical is happening in South Korea right now. And the things that are happening in South Korea will be happening in America. And, yeah. I was going to, when Charlie went over there, he did a deep dive study because he wanted to address the issues that the country was facing.
Starting point is 00:49:49 They have a negative birth rate. And it's that titler cycle. They have abundance. Abundance is apathy. The young people don't marry until they're late. And they, kids are, you know, dual income. No kids is optimal to achieve status in this Korean society. We call that dink.
Starting point is 00:50:06 Dink. Dink. We call it all. It's a, yeah. Universal. Yeah. what's happening now with this awakening with the young people and Charlie declared it to him, get married early and have kids you can't afford. They're ready to do this. And it's a lot like
Starting point is 00:50:22 Benjamin Rush, our founder, Dr. Rush. He said, when I pray, I pray for, I put this in order. My priorities, God, government and my family. And you go, Dr. Rush, why would you put government ahead of your family? If there's a bad government, you won't have the ability to raise a good family. And that's what they're seeing. They want to return to the Lord. They want to have a family that blesses God. They've lost role models. And so one of the things we're going to do,
Starting point is 00:50:50 and I was talking with Pastor Stone's oldest son, we're going to do marriage counseling, marriage seminars, parenting seminars throughout the country. This is important for this awakening to really take root. God doesn't require a majority. He just requires us to be faithful. Amen. And it seems to me that the adversaries in communism or China, the adversary is the spirit of Antichrist.
Starting point is 00:51:12 And that's the same in the U.S. or South Korea or wherever. I wonder, would you pray for us? We pray for our nation and pray for the church in America. You don't have to interpret. He can let him pray and I'll trust the Lord to give us all the impact. All right. I'm going to say. All right.
Starting point is 00:51:32 Javiero-loo-hsian, our Lordeim, Hannaeaner and God-Namara and our New York and the United Kingdom and the
Starting point is 00:51:41 God-Name all the people to beckon and Lorde Lorde and Lorde and that and give
Starting point is 00:51:48 to be the young-efficient to be and so these things and that God-o-o- Jesus' name
Starting point is 00:51:55 with God-Dere Amen. Amen. Amen. Pastor So, and thank you for your faithfulness
Starting point is 00:52:02 to the Lord and his kingdom. Godin and Godine and God's for helping us understand. Thank you. Yeah, I'm not sure if I did a... He did great job. I think you did a great job. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:52:14 Thank you for having us again. And Rob, you're learning to behave pretty well. I'm trying. I'm trying. It's hard. We get you in Tennessee enough. You'll learn some good southern manners. I'm in. Folks, God is moving in the earth.
Starting point is 00:52:25 I promise he is. And the church makes such a difference. Please don't believe the lie that you don't matter. You know, in my experience, life comes filled with challenges. And don't wait for all the challenges to go away before you start giving honor to Jesus and using your voice for an influence in His kingdom.
Starting point is 00:52:44 If we will each take our place, God is the difference maker, and we will see the name of Jesus exalted and his kingdom extended. I want to be a part of what he's doing in the earth. And we have some new friends to pray for. So I promise you, there are believers in Tennessee and far beyond that are praying for your church. and for your nation. Tell your friends, pray for South Korea. We'll be back soon.
