Starting point is 00:00:00 If God calls us, according to 1 Corinthians 316, the Temple of the Holy Spirit, why would we put junk in this temple? When it comes to health, I don't think we are understanding that the Bible is the owner's manual for our body. Godliness in general is a health proposal, not letting the sun go down on your anger, practicing forgiveness, maintaining peace. I mean, all of those have an enormous impact on our health. And I think that we need to do our best within our abilities to care for our body
Starting point is 00:00:28 in a way that aligns with God's creation. And a lot of what we need to do to get well is what could have prevented an illness in the first place. Well, welcome back to culture and Christianity. I'm excited today. I have a friend, mentor, co-labor in the harvest fields. Jordan Rubin, welcome back. It's great to be here.
Starting point is 00:01:05 I'm always excited when you come. I laughed upstairs as I was going to come down with the bowl of M&Ms, but I decided not to poke the bear. So full disclosure. the heck, I'm a year and a half into it now. I sat down with Jordan. I told him I needed some help, and he was gracious enough to give me some input.
Starting point is 00:01:22 And so I've cleaned up a lot of my, not all of my diet, but I've cleaned up a big chunk of it. So thank you. You were always into the most interesting things. Last time you heard you had a new book, Biblio Diet. That has done amazingly well all over. For those of you, maybe I take him, if you don't know Jordan Rubin,
Starting point is 00:01:37 he's kind of celebrated as a biblical health coach for more than 20 years now. You're kind of, for my generation, We've been looking to you for information for a long time. Remarkable, you overcame Crohn's disease through diet and God's help when the doctors really were at the end of their rope. So you know God in a miraculous way and have given your life really to understanding the tools that God's given us to be healthy. So welcome.
Starting point is 00:02:02 How's your Bibliot Diet doing? You pleased? It's been great. Yeah. It's really interesting to see something drop in as one of four million books. I wasn't sure how many books are on Amazon. I was told some ridiculous stat that 800,000 books are now being written every month, and it has probably 30% of them are written by the artificial intelligent beings,
Starting point is 00:02:29 but the remainder are being written. And it's a great platform where anyone can have a book. So to be able to reach the intended audience, I think is a huge blessing. and then to see people recommend the book to others, use it, get benefits. It's extremely gratifying. Now, most people, if they have my contact information, would rather me tell them everything to do other than read the book. But for those who have read the book, I'm grateful, and it's been used in churches,
Starting point is 00:03:00 small groups, and I'm really excited. Pastor, this is pretty interesting. I got calls a few weeks ago from France and the UK that wanted to interview me, based on the fad of biblical health eating in America, which I thought, look, if anything's going to be a fad, let it be one that's thousands of years old. So I was excited about that, that people were talking about a Fox News, print an article.
Starting point is 00:03:24 Here's a miracle. I did an interview for the New York Times, and I did it now that I'm more mature. Back in the old days when I did these interviews, they interview me, and I share a certain point, then they get the expert to debunk. And, you know, when you're young and your 20s, you have thin skin.
Starting point is 00:03:41 So that kind of hurt a little bit. But I figured the truth's the truth. Let's share it. And the New York Times published a very positive article on biblical health. And that's amazing. For anything with the word Bible in it and New York Times, that's a huge blessing. And then Fox News did. So it's really neat to see not only America becoming healthier or more health conscious,
Starting point is 00:04:04 but I want it to be accredited to the one who created us and created our food. and how we should live because when we might talk about that term biohacking, but God doesn't need anybody to hack our biology, but it would be nice if we created an environment where we used our bodies with the owner's manual, right? Because if someone creates a device, and I was actually communicating on WhatsApp with someone who's overseas, who developed a device that he sent me to use,
Starting point is 00:04:38 and I'm asking them all these questions how to use it, and it's, I'm not really getting clear answers, but once I get them, I'm going to use them. I said, I want to use this the best way you recommend for two solid weeks to see if it works. When it comes to health, I don't think we are understanding that the Bible is the owner's manual for our body, even though some of these health topics and principles are hidden in plain sight. maybe most people don't think the Bible's a health book, but the more I read it, it sure talks a lot about our well-being. I think godliness in general is a health proposal. You know, not letting the sun go down on your anger, practicing forgiveness, maintaining peace.
Starting point is 00:05:24 I mean, all of those have an enormous impact on our health. Yes, absolutely. You brought up something that makes me chuckle. I was with some mutual friends of ours at TBN, and I was talking about the different health guests they've had over the years. and I was blessed to be on a praise episode with the great Jack Lillane, who all of us remember from some point in our time. And I remember telling Matt Crouch, I'm not sure who does all of the checking on the testimonial side of your guests.
Starting point is 00:05:52 But Jack Lelaine quoted two Bible verses. One of those was, God helps those that help themselves. And cleanliness is next to godliness. I said, well, principally, I think you could find something in James that may approximate the first one. But yeah, it is pretty interesting. But yeah, it's amazing what God's doing today
Starting point is 00:06:13 in the lives of people. There's a desperation. There's a hunger for what's real and what's true. And for the first time in my almost 31 years in the natural health industry, I'm not considered a weirdo anymore. That takes a lot. It takes God to do that.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Yes. And when God becomes so mainstream, the godly people aren't weird, that's a revival, renewal or a moving of the Spirit of God, whatever you want to call it. Well, I'm an advocate for the Bibliot Diet. Kathy and I both read it, and we read it at different times, then we were back and forth. Did you read this part or did you see that? And what I thought was so helpful about it is it's such an accessible book. You know, the first book you wrote 20 years
Starting point is 00:06:55 ago, the Maker's Diet. You know, that's a pretty hardcore. I mean, if you're all in on the makers diet. That's a life altering in a positive way. And the Biblio diet is a little bit more of like it's an on-ramp into imagining a healthier way to live and a healthier way to eat. And it's accessible, I think, to the general public. So it was a blessing. We got a lot of dialogue in my house. You know, this podcast is made possible because of sponsors. And one of our sponsors is preserve gold. And I appreciate their partnership with us. And I pray it's a blessing to you. You know, One of the things that I hear most often right now is this, that people are doing their best plan for the future, but they're not sure what's trust anymore. You know, the headlines, they change every day.
Starting point is 00:07:43 And the economy, it feels pretty unpredictable. And that uncertainty, it's unsettling to all of us. But as people of faith, we're not called to live in fear. We're called to live with wisdom, with discernment, and with peace. Well, part of that is simply taking practical steps to protect what you've worked so hard to build and establish. for yourself and your family. That's why many are turning to time-tested assets like gold and silver, not as a reaction, but as a way to bring stability into their financial plans. Well, if you'd like to learn more, I encourage you to connect with preserve gold. They've helped many people understand
Starting point is 00:08:20 how to diversify their savings with physical gold and silver, including in retirement accounts. And right now, you can get their free wealth protection guide by texting Allen, it's A-L-L-E-N to 50505. Plus, with a qualified purchase, you can receive up to $15,000 in free gold or silver. Well, if you want to learn how precious metals could help protect your savings,
Starting point is 00:08:44 text Allen to 50505 today. You'll receive your free wealth protection guide. We are living in a time when it seems to be fashionable to eat healthier, which is a real breakthrough. I mean, every place I look these days, somebody's talking about eating real food, which I know you've been saying forever,
Starting point is 00:09:05 but it's encouraging to see that catching on. It feels like to me that COVID was a seismic shift, that, you know, the terror of the virus from Wuhan and then some of the bad science that came out of it. But now a few years on the other side, what, I know you keep your finger on the pulse of kind of the health community in general. What are you seeing coming away from COVID? That is such a loaded question, Pastor. I think there was sort of a point of demarcation or delineation when it came to COVID, and we were on sides,
Starting point is 00:09:39 sadly. And in fact, that was when we became more acquainted with World Outreach Church because the church we were going to in Nashville area was closed. And we were doing our cowboy church thing. But you all had a lot of options. But I remember like it was yesterday, and it lasted so long where you'd say, we're not passing offering plates. and we may never pass offering plates and talked about it's going to be a week, it's going to be two weeks is a very interesting time. But I do think that in, gosh, now five, six years since that time, I'm seeing the toll that whether it's the virus, whether it's viral shedding or the shot is taking on people.
Starting point is 00:10:20 And so I'm seeing personally in my friends and friend group and people who communicate with me a real significant set of issues on the cardiovascular side, on the immune system side, particularly related to cancer. And I try to take things as literally and as truthfully as possible. And so there was a group of people that I hung out with that were referred to as the disinformation does in, and they were de-platformed and they were canceled. And some of what they said, I thought, may not bear repeating until I see more information, such as those who get the shot are going to have massive coronary diseases, turbo cancers, et cetera, and the population, we're going to be depopulated and everything else to hearing the conventional side, which is if you don't get the shot,
Starting point is 00:11:13 you're going to have all those issues. And then you hear, well, even if you're with someone who has COVID or has received the shot, there's viral shedding, and you need a spike protein detox. So I think where I land on this is there's definitely been some damage done and I don't think it was COVID as much as a continuation of a
Starting point is 00:11:35 false narrative that we could do anything we want to control our health artificially and chemically and be just fine. And so there's I think a distrust, a general distrust in big medicine and big pharma and it's caused people
Starting point is 00:11:51 to vote for politicians and support administrative efforts such as maha that is bipartisan it's the definition of bipartisan it's so funny and I'm only transparent and real but I ran into Bobby Kennedy at a gym in California
Starting point is 00:12:09 while we were working out with a fitness celebrity doing some filming you're challenging to a pull-up contest no but I got a picture with him but get this because he was running against Trump I almost was afraid to show My wife is very principled. And she had a Trump 2020 flag on for, you know, our house.
Starting point is 00:12:30 It's still there now. But it was for years during the time when someone else was the official president. But to say that Maha is a Republican movement is so, so silly. But I love the fact that we're bringing some common sense into the world. Now, granted, people have made jokes and, satire about it, but ultimately, the way to get healthy today is the same way that we could get healthy thousands of years ago. What we call biohacking today was a normal course of life.
Starting point is 00:13:07 You didn't have to tell Jesus and the disciples to get out and walk 10,000 steps. They may have walked 50,000 steps. And if you track Jesus's movement in scripture based on the calendar, in fact, it probably was closer to a 20 to 50,000 step in sandals. And they were probably grounding. They were the right kind of sandals to make contact with the earth. You didn't have to tell them to breathe fresh air. You didn't have to tell them to get morning sunlight.
Starting point is 00:13:35 You didn't have to tell them to cold plunge. That's called a bath in the cooler times of the year in a spring. And you didn't have to tell them to go in the sauna because the cloak, the tunic, and whatever version of the Talit they had on probably allowed for a steam room. room or sauna session. And you didn't have to talk about polyphenols because the figs and the pomegranates provided them and the pistachios. It was a different day. And what I try to do in the Bibliot Diet in my daily life is replicate what Moses already did to live 120 years, not what someone's going to try to bioengineer and ultimately have his head frozen for a future time when his body can
Starting point is 00:14:16 be recreated in cryotherapy. And I'm only half joking or maybe a third. So it gets, It's pretty wacky out there. But you do it in an integrated way, and that's what I appreciate, because you bring attention to what we're putting on our fork and what we're putting into our body. But you also bring attention to our relationship with God, and you can't really separate the two, because you need both to be healthy. And I'm really grateful for the way you've introduced that, and in a way that depends on your life experience, which is so profound.
Starting point is 00:14:49 And if you're looking, you know, if health is. a challenge. It's worth taking some time to listen to what Jordan's got to say. There's not a quick fix. You're not going to get a cream. You're going to rub on and you're going to wake up tomorrow with a different body. But if you will give some attention to what he's saying, I have lived it out. And I appreciate your persistent because you were, or maybe not mocked, you were willing to be on the lunatic fringe for a bit. Oh, I've been mocked and worse. The term quack was pretty common. And in fact, back in the day, and this was 25, 30 years ago, there was a medical doctor who operated a website called quackwatch.com. And it was almost a badge of honor if you were a functional medicine doctor, a nutritionist, et cetera, to be on the list.
Starting point is 00:15:34 And somehow, miraculously, he managed as a, it was like an 82-year-old former psychiatrist. He managed to be on the front page or number one or two of every Google search of your name back then. And so I don't know how that could have happened, but it's very gratifying. I can't take credit for the principles I've learned. My dad before me, chiropractor, naturopath. So I did grow up in this type of climate and now taking God's principles and looking at our health through, I believe the biblical lens has been amazing. But I will say there is a universal answer.
Starting point is 00:16:14 and I talk to you about this backstage. On September 8th, I'm the co-author of a book that will launch called Healing Prayers for Cancer. And I do believe prayer is the universal answer. And, Pastor, I sit here today as a 43-year-old believer, meaning I'm more than 43, but I've been a believer since I was 43, and I've had knowledge of Jesus since I was two years old.
Starting point is 00:16:39 However old I was enough to understand that the reason for Christ, Christmas is not a fat guy in a red suit. But I do believe this is the universal answer. And if someone pressed me and said, Jordan, I live in a place where I can't get certain supplements or I can't undergo a certain treatment or maybe I don't have insurance and I can't undergo standard of care. What is the universal answer? And it is prayer. Now, someone would ask, but Jordan, if prayer is the answer, how come everybody that prays isn't healed? And I ask God that almost every day now. I'm not growing in my relationship of certainty and dogmatism with God. I'm growing in the relationship where I can ask these questions. And I ask because I want to see God move more. I want him to answer the prayers
Starting point is 00:17:28 that I pray for people that are sick, the prayers that people pray themselves and others. And I want to see it happen in a way that the world takes notice and everybody rushes to the altar of our churches. but while that hasn't happened today or yet in our lifetimes, I still believe that people are praying the Word of God out loud and the word never returns void and it's transforming their spirit. I just started a podcast this week and it's called The Jordan Rubin Show. I fought against that. I had all these other cooler names. I interviewed an old acquaintance of mine who was diagnosed with a cancer
Starting point is 00:18:08 recurrence of melanoma. And I walked her through it. Really some similar principles you and I worked on together. And she made it a priority like I suggested to pray this healing prayer for cancer that I had created from the Bible and some great teachers. She prayed it out loud three times a day. And the days that she didn't feel like she could or she was too emotional, her husband read the prayer for her. He never let her miss. I'm getting even emotional thinking about it. And anybody who's watching or listening today, if they're interested, that prayer is available on jordanrubin.com. It's a PDF download. It can go all over the world, send it to anyone you want. I have heard stories first and second hand of people that have prayed that prayer and gone back
Starting point is 00:18:56 for their oncological report and have seen amazing results, including a local pastor here in our area. So I do believe that there is a universal answer. It is prayer. But like, the book of James says, faith or prayer and hope without action or works is dead. And I think that we need to do our best within our abilities to care for our body in a way that aligns with God's creation. No matter how far we've departed, no matter if it was our fault, or just a lack of knowledge. But the lack of knowledge from upbringing, from the medical system that preached nutrition doesn't matter. When you're diagnosed with cancer, you can eat Twinkies. The Bible says in Josea 4-6, if we lack knowledge, we'll perish. And my goal with the Bibliob Diet and anything I write
Starting point is 00:19:48 or the Jordan Rubin podcast is to make sure that people don't have a lack of knowledge. Well, I think Christians sometimes are very naive. We think, one, ignorance should protect us. I didn't know. And ignorance is not a defense. It's not a defense. against evil. It's not a defense against disease. You know, we had a whole generation of Americans that we lost to smoking before we had really good evidence on how destructive it was to your physical health. And I think the other thing that Christians roll into that is intent. Well, I didn't intend to do something wrong. You don't have to have the intent in order to make yourself vulnerable to evil or disease. And I'm with you. I think prayer, those that listen frequently,
Starting point is 00:20:31 we have to be engaged in prayer. And it doesn't mean we understand it fully. I don't understand nutrition fully, but I'm trying to eat better than I once did. I don't understand a lot of things. I don't understand my phone fully, but I benefit from it, and I'm not offended by that. It doesn't make me intellectually incomplete.
Starting point is 00:20:51 My mom was healed of a terminal disease when I was seven, and we weren't Christians. We were churched, but we weren't Christians. And she lived another 50, plus years. She had breast cancer. And she went to Mayo Clinic and the doctor after a full workup said, Ms. Jackson, you're one of those fortunate people. We see it from time to time. You go home and raise your babies. And they became Christians and I mean, my life was changed by that. But I've seen lots of people that I loved and I know loved God that weren't healed in that way. You know,
Starting point is 00:21:23 God is not a formula that we manage. We seek him and we learn him about him. When Jesus went to the pool is a Bethesda, and he healed the lame man. He didn't heal everybody that was at the pool. And there's some parts of that we don't know fully, but it doesn't change our own personal journey of faith and the things that we have influence over, our own health and our well-being, and our willingness to invite God into the midst of that. In my life, God has done more than I could have asked or imagined, and he continues to do that. Doesn't mean it's been pain-free or challenge-free or obstacle-free, and I know that's been your journey. I mean, Why do we go through those things?
Starting point is 00:22:01 I don't know. But every time I've invited God in in a sincere way, I've been very grateful for that. Yes. And I've always told people that in my own life, overcoming Crohn's disease, which is incurable, overcoming terminal cancer, which was terminal, was not just for me. It was for somebody else on the other side. And I think that's the same way with a marital issue, financial issue, children that are wayward. if we will look at God's plan in it, I think it helps us get through.
Starting point is 00:22:33 And I have asked God, and I mean this, I don't want to learn this way anymore. Books are fine. Other people's experiences are just great. But it seems like any time I've had a serious health challenge, God has taught me something in that that I've then shared with others. And I can't look back and regret that. I guess in a similar fashion that Abraham didn't regret the emotions I can't even imagine when he walked up the mountain with a big knife in his sack and his teenage son of promise walking up there with him. And there's a lot we don't know about that story because it's so short relative to the movies and the lessons that have been taught on it.
Starting point is 00:23:19 but I just have to feel like we need these stepping stones of faith to take us from glory to glory, as God promises. And I'm half joking about not wanting to experience anymore because I know that in this world we will have tribulation, but we're of good cheer because Jesus has overcome the world. And I think the important part, and that I want to mention to people, we both know individuals who we prayed for and they've prayed. and for what we knew, they honored God tremendously, and they are no longer here. But when you're someone who's facing a diagnosis, I don't think that should be part of the
Starting point is 00:23:57 understanding. And I'll say this in a way that may be offensive to a particular denomination or more than one, but I grew up as a messianic Jew in congregations that had all variants of charisma, I'll say, or spirit-filledness, et cetera. But then I really settled into a Southern Baptist church as a teenager. Amazing teaching. I learned to have a relationship with Jesus as a teenager, not just have a religious experience. And when somebody was sick or on our prayer request list, we prayed, God, if it's your will to heal, so-and-so, please do it. Now, then I went on after being healed myself of Crohn's disease, wrote books, was on many platforms.
Starting point is 00:24:47 and often they were of the more Pentecostal or spirit-filled side, chapels at ORU, ministry around the world. And when I was diagnosed with cancer, something changed in my prayer life where it wasn't enough to pray, Lord, if it's your will to heal me. I started saying, by your stripes, by your wounds, I am healed. And I had to attack it as if I was the only person that God created, or was in relationship with at the time,
Starting point is 00:25:20 and it was just me and him, and it didn't matter who passed away. It didn't matter who was more righteous than me or prayed more than me. What mattered was at the time my three children, my wife, the team of people I was responsible for, my parents, my sister, my friends, and I would really encourage people to block out anything else.
Starting point is 00:25:39 You don't need to know statistics. The only statistic you should know is someone's been healed of the same condition you have. And the second one, and I wouldn't use it as a crutch, is he has overcome death. So we don't lose in the end. But I don't encourage people who are battling a serious diagnosis to say I'm going to be healed, whether this side of heaven or the other. I say you fight for this side.
Starting point is 00:26:04 And worst case scenario, which is the best case scenario, you're with Jesus. But that's a hard one, pastor. And I counsel people and I coach people. But it's like an Olympic. athlete or a professional athlete in one of the major sports, you're training, you're swimming in a cold pool when everybody else is sleep. You're following a certain diet when everybody else is out having fun. Your summer vacations are in a pool or with a pole vaulting.
Starting point is 00:26:35 And you just, it's that miracle, that one in a million that I hope becomes one in a 100,000, one in a 10,000, thousand, and one day I do believe, Pastor, we're going to see a massive outbreak of healings and this side of heaven. And that's what I pray for because I talked to you backstage, just a couple of examples of people that I was asked to help with serious conditions. And it ended up being too late, but that's not what I told them, because I don't believe it's too late as long as you have breath in your lungs. And I also don't believe it's too late even after you've been buried. Why? Because we're told that we're going to do greater things than Jesus. So if Lazarus was able to be raised from the dead in four days,
Starting point is 00:27:18 I have to believe we're going to see that too. I'm all in. I'm believing what Jesus said, but I think your point, it's not a comfortable conversation, but it's important. God designed our bodies to heal. When I came to that awareness, it changed my whole attitudes towards prayer, but it also changed my attitude towards health. We've got a responsibility to do everything we can to promote our own health. That means what we eat matters. Well, in our busy lives and all the things going on, I have found I need a little help with that.
Starting point is 00:27:55 So supplements and vitamins, nutrients have become an important part of my own lifestyle. Jordan Rubin's a friend, so ancient nutrition.com has become a part of my daily routine. They're a sponsor of this podcast, not just because we needed a sponsor, but because I actually use the products and I believe in them, they have given us an opportunity for you, you can put in back to health 26. As the code, you'll get 26% off site wide on all the nutrients, all the supplements. Folks, eating healthy is important, but you can do some things to add to that. Let's stay healthy so we can fulfill what God has for each one of us to do. And to me, there's a parallel. We both have a bit of experience. And, you know, I've prayed
Starting point is 00:28:40 with a lot of people to make a profession of faith. And some people are dramatically changed. I mean, they get like 180 degree change now. They're delivered from addictions. They're delivered from habits. I mean, everything. And other people, it seems like it's very incremental. And there's a lot of drift. And I'm not saying one is more legitimate than the other.
Starting point is 00:29:02 How God works in our lives, we don't dictate. What we have to determine is to seek the Lord. And why I think your story is so significant and people will miss it if they're not paying attention, you didn't just pray. God showed you a whole pattern of behaviors. I mean, emerged from Scripture, but I mean, it was a dramatic behavioral change. So you didn't just pray and then expect God to do something while you kept eating fried chicken and whatever. God gave you a pattern that brought you a whole different kind of life.
Starting point is 00:29:37 In my experience, if we're willing to let God write a new future for us, it's phenomenal what he will do. but it isn't simple or easy or I want what Naman wanted when he came to the prophet come out and clap your hands over my head and I'll be well and the prophet said no you go dip yourself in the river and he was furious with it and I think we get mad at God when he doesn't bring us our instant answer
Starting point is 00:30:04 and I don't hear you selling instant answers I hear you selling a change of lifestyle that includes a consistent invitation to God and prayer I'm an advocate for that. And that's an interesting passage because I would love to tell you, guess what, pastor? I know exactly what was in the river that Neiman went into because there were certain minerals, et cetera. But I think in that case, humility goes a long way.
Starting point is 00:30:32 And this is going to surprise people. As I've traveled the world to cancer clinics and places where people go as a last-ditch effort to get healed. And these people could be weeks away from dying according to a prognosis, but there's still a lot of pride. They're pride in, they're arguing over what nutritional information is best or what supplements or what IVs to use. And I think there's a lot to being humble. I have said this many times and written about it in my own cancer journey, I believe that my first reaction to the prognosis that I had 100% chance of dying in 90 days set the miracle up.
Starting point is 00:31:17 And what I did at the time, and I'm in an oncologist's office in West Palm Beach, Florida, my wife, Nikki's with me. He drops down a folder, which were presumably my CAT scan results, and said, there's more to discuss, which means not good news because we weren't sure. what the results would be. And if it was clean, he probably would have said something different. And he walked out the door. And I told Nikki, I said, can you guard the door? And I was a little bit of a risk there that he walks in and, you know, knocks my wife over. But what I did as a grown man of 32, 33 years old, I put my face on the carpet. And I don't say that euphemistically. Like my nose was on the carpet. And I quoted Job chapter 1 verse 21. And I call it Job's prayer. And I said, naked, I came into this. earth, naked I shall return. It is the Lord who gives and the Lord who takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. And I had done that maybe five times earlier in my life when I was punched in the stomach, not literally, figuratively, like the air knocked out of me or something
Starting point is 00:32:25 happened so traumatically that I couldn't even think to go fix it. And this was one of those moments where I was being in a way cursed, attempted to have my wife shaken so she could convince me in a week's time to go to the leading expert on that particular cancer diagnosis and begin what I would have considered excruciating treatments. And God healed me, but I don't think it was unrelated to my humbling myself before. for him because we can pray quickly, Lord, forgive me for this or that, but there's something different about what the Bible would call putting on sackcloth and ashes or putting our face, getting on our face before the Lord. Like, Pastor, I don't remember the last time I got on my face
Starting point is 00:33:19 before the Lord after that. And this is convicting to me, but I think there's more of a posture that we can offer for healing. And the other thing I would say on the simplistic side, an old mentor of mindset, what will have prevented it will cure it. And a lot of what we need to do to get well is what could have prevented an illness in the first place. I know there's question on what that is, and there's even disagreement amongst health experts. But there are certain things that we know are indelible truths for our health. I remember being in South Africa ministering, and the pastor said many people come for prayer. And they'll say, pastor, pray for my healing.
Starting point is 00:34:03 And then he'll say, well, how have you been sleeping? Well, I'm not. I go to bed at 2 in the morning. Or are you fasting? Are you eating? Are you praying? And he says, you don't need my prayer. You need to go and do what God created your body to do, how to function.
Starting point is 00:34:19 And then when you need God to heal, ask him to intervene. But people are simply doing the equivalent of stepping off of a building that's 10 stories high and praying, God, help me from falling and breaking bones are dying. The law of gravity is a law of gravity. And the way he created us has similarities. And we can't, I'll use every analogy in the book, we can't put diesel fuel in an unleaded engine. Something bad will happen. I'm not a car guy, but I know I was warned not to do that. It's not going to work out well. No, you're so right. And people say, do you believe in prayer or do you believe in science? Yes.
Starting point is 00:35:02 I think the more I align myself with what God tells us is a healthy way to live, the healthier we get. It is not either or. I'm not afraid of science and technology. I just, you can't ignore it. And I think we've ignored it and wanted God to give us a supernatural fix. It's like I found I was much more successful when I studied and prayed for my exams than when I just prayed for my exams and didn't study. Or just studied and didn't pray.
Starting point is 00:35:25 It's interesting. People ask me all the time, do you trust science or do you trust the Word of God primarily? And it's the Word of God, then history, then science. Because science is observational. And for example,
Starting point is 00:35:40 I've been talking about, as many have before me, the power of fasting, because fasting is something that we are supposed to do. And in fact, everybody does it. No one eats for 24 hours a day, or at least I don't think they do.
Starting point is 00:35:53 A recent study came out on inflammatory. Amatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease, and this is a great study because they looked at two groups with the same severity of condition. And one ate for approximately 16 hours a day, and one consumed food for eight hours a day. And for the first time, it was the same amount of food because there's been some speculation that intermittent fasting or however you want to call it, time restricted eating works because you eat less. but in this case, they ate the same amount. This group had a reduction in belly fat, if they had belly fat to lose,
Starting point is 00:36:31 lower inflammatory markers, better cardiovascular markers, and all they did was eat the same food in an eight-hour window. That's brilliant. That proves what God already says in Isaiah 58, starting in verse 6, that this fast that I have chosen
Starting point is 00:36:49 breaks the bonds of wickedness, breaks every chain and healing will spring forth from doing so. And I can list time and time again when studies come out. There are studies on people being prayed for from another state and having better outcomes. There are studies, mostly case studies and patient reports on individuals who are able to forgive more easily that they had greater outcomes. I even read about a man who died happy and, in his old age and when they did an autopsy he was ridden with what we would call cancer and i read
Starting point is 00:37:28 about someone who died young and had an autopsy performed and had no physical maladies but was an angry bitter person and we know that anxiety in the heart weighs a man down a good word makes him glad the list goes on and on and so when you take the best of spiritual advice emotional and physical that's how you can be healthy and that's how you can be healed. Everywhere we turn, someone is telling us who we should be, how we should look,
Starting point is 00:38:03 and what we should believe. It's no wonder so many of us feel isolated, uncertain, confused, and like we're not enough. But God has a different message. You are chosen, loved, accepted, and redeemed.
Starting point is 00:38:19 And as you more fully understand how God sees you, it will change how you see yourself, how you see God and how you live your life. I know there's some things pushing, but you have a number of, you got a new book coming out,
Starting point is 00:39:05 September the 8th. Tell us the title again. Yes, Healing Prayers for Cancer, Dr. Pete Sulac and myself, we are taking out the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God, and it will work for you better than any surgeon's blade. It will work because God says his word does not return void.
Starting point is 00:39:24 and what I'm excited about with this book, it's not for everybody watching for themselves, but this is something that I hope people will grab and give as a gift. I'm really hoping that people will think of three individuals that they know of that are battling a cancer diagnosis. And Pastor Allen, that's not hard anymore. In fact, some people will think of 10. Prayer requests lists, you know better than anyone,
Starting point is 00:39:51 are full of prayers for cancer, as much as any other situation because of how many lives we've lost. So I'm getting chills just talking about it. I'm so excited to get this in people's hands because it is a tool. If you decide to undergo radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery, you need prayer. If you decide to drink carrot juice and wheatgrass juice, coffee, enemas, and go to a clinic in Mexico, and I'm not making light of that. That's a great option.
Starting point is 00:40:20 You need prayer. And so I do think this is the universal answer. And so I'm really hoping that we see the tide turn on new cancer diagnoses. And I have to believe it because God said it. God said that when two or more gathered, he is in our midst. God said that when we pray for something according to his will, this will be answered. God says that we seek and knock. And God said that the widow kept coming. And she, was given what she wanted by the judge. God said that somebody knocked on the door and asked for something. And even though the owner of the house was asleep with his children, because of the persistent knocking, these are all parables of Jesus. These are stories that are true. So I'm really excited about that. It's available for pre-order now, healing prayers for cancer. And again, we can only do so much for people that need healing. But this is a gift that I believe will multiply. in the kingdom. And there's been great books written on this topic. But for some reason, Pastor,
Starting point is 00:41:27 people want something new or they want the latest. And so let's say that this is the latest in a great line of books on prayer, but it is specifically focused on cancer, written by two people who have overcome this dreaded disease and are living not just to tell about it, but to bring people with them on their journey. Well, I thank you for your persistent voice in health. helping us be healthy and to seek the Lord. It is a gift to the body of Christ and whomever will listen. You are the owner of Heal the Planet Farm. Yes.
Starting point is 00:42:01 And have a lot to say about sustainable farming and renewable, I mean, really good stuff. And healing leaves. We'll talk about that another time. But co-founded Ancient Nutrition with Dr. Axe back in 2016. Yes. Whole range of nutritional supplements and all sorts of things to help us stay healthy. So thank you for your work. tools. Sometimes, pastor, we need a little bit of help from our friends, you know. So I want to make sure
Starting point is 00:42:28 that nutrition is accessible and easy. And now we're seeing fast food restaurants come along with reasonable options. So the winds at our back, it's time we take advantage. But most importantly, the only way that you will turn around your behavior as it relates to health is to understand the importance God has placed on you in your family and in your circle of friends. And and in your church and in your community, because if we see ourselves the way God does, we would want to know and practice the very best for our temples. I used to use this analogy,
Starting point is 00:43:05 and I even brought a prop once in a church service I shared in. If God calls us, according to 1st Corinthians 316, the Temple of the Holy Spirit, why would we put junk in this temple? How would these security guards at World Outreach feel if somebody brought a dumpster or even big bags of garbage and walked up on the platform and the altar and dumped it out, they'd be rushed out because we can't take this church that God dwells in and put things that are disgusting in it, right? Defile it. And I think knowingly and
Starting point is 00:43:41 unknowingly, we're doing that to our bodies today. And if we make these changes, God will meet us more than halfway, and that's where we're going to see these miracles come, whether it's instantaneous, which I pray for, or a process, which I'm equally grateful for. Well, the how-to is in God's hands. What we're responsible to be as obedient as we know how and walk up rightly that way. I thank you. Full disclosure, George's not just a friend.
