Try talking to a teenager in the car, or a family member sitting on the couch, and you will soon discover there is a lengthy distance from planet Earth

to the attention of another person. As much as technology makes up the working world, we still seek a mindless task to unwind. We plug in again. Here comes a clearing of the throat and a draw. drum roll. Can God have our attention please? God is attentive. He made our ears and eyes. How ridiculous to entertain the thought that he doesn't see or hear what we do or say. He is an interactive God. He speaks to us through his word, his spirit and his church. He relates to us. He wants relationship. Time unplugged allows us to listen, relate, and think. Our brains need

pauses to ponder and reflect during the day. We benefit from waiting without distraction. As you wind down for the day, set aside distractions. Give God the quiet of your mind. Stop and listen. It may be that he is asking, Can I have your attention, please? In what way does technology affect your attention to God?

As we say goodbye, may the grace of the divine surround you. And may the daily strength founded his word, guide you in every step. This is not the end, but a beautiful pause in our shared journey.
