It's those times when even the hardest motherfuckers in the world are looking around for guidance.
It's that one motherfucker.
Be that one motherfucker.
When even you're saying yourself, boy, this fucking sucks.
I don't want to be here right now.
And you're looking at all the guy's eyes around you.
And you've seen it.
The eyes just go down.
Like, man, we're getting the fuck out of here.
This is brutal.
Be that guy who finds the courage and say, you know what, man?
Let's do this.
Let's do this.
I need you at the top of the mountain with me, Big Dog.
I know you're fucking tired.
I get it, bro.
You're beat up.
You want to quit.
But this is when it matters the fucking most.
Let that pain leave your body, Big Dog.
That is the death of the old view.
You're growing.
You're hitting new thresholds.
You're coming out on top.
You're going to fucking make it, Big Dog.
Let me tell you something.
Mental toughness is knowing life's unfair, but waking up every day,
playing to fucking win.
I will never quit because if you quit, you're done.
I will never quit.
I will persevere and I will thrive on adversity.
My team expects me to be physically harder and mentally stronger than our opponents.
I hold myself to that standard.
I will be physically harder and mentally stronger than anything that comes against me,
my family, my business, my brothers, my sisters, my team.
I will be the one that is physically harder.
and mentally stronger, and I will work to maintain that position.
You won't beat me.
Until some motherfucker comes along and does that shit.
Be that motherfucker.
Be the motherfucker that challenge is impossible.
Be the motherfucker that says, fuck you.
I can do that shit.
Sit your punk ass down and watch me.
You're being tested, big dog.
You're being fucking tested.
Simple is that. Pass or fail, big dog. What's it going to be? Do you want that new fucking life? Do you want those fucking goals? Or are you just talking? But what's the difference between that match and that blow torch? Intensity? What's the difference between that bridge of life and that machete? Intensity. It's not how much it does something. It's not when it does something. It's how it does something.
100 hard motherfuckers be the hardest of them all be the one motherfucker that says fuck never this is my life man do you know how hard I work to get here I built this shit me brick by brick and I'll be damn if I let you tear it down embrace change create a way out of no way success is the only of revenge you only get one life dedication whole work
I want me on.
Work day and night.
You're not going to burn out.
You're doing what it takes.
You cast a shadow that no one even can see them behind you.
I am the one who knocks.
When you walk on that court, you have to think,
I'm a winner.
I'm going to win.
All of us who have been in tune by fear
have the capacity to resurrect ourselves.
I'm done letting my old bullshit dictate my future.
I promise you, there is nothing I'm not prepared to do.
Say my name
Fortify your mind
It's the fuck
It's right fucking out
It's about how hard
You can get hit
And keep moving forward
Because I can keep going
Brick by Brick
I don't lose
Better have a part about you
That's tough
A part about you that can
Break down situations
And get better
And when you have that kind of
Consciousness
When you have that kind of spirit
Nothing can stop you
Brick by Brick
day by day
year by year
keep going
what's the story
are you not happy or
you're only half happy or
instead of be happy about
you're up too old
job's not finished
job finished
I don't think so
I'm not finished yet
yes you are
why not
get back to fucking work
it's time to get back to work
stop hearing yourself talk
Cut out all the fucking noise.
Get back to the fucking mental lab.
Because that's what the knowledge came from.
From everything that life threw at you, who could you become?
I learned that you get back up.
It's just got to be a habit of getting up.
You get up and you're going to find some shit that you could do something with.
If you quit now, you're not only cheating on yourself, but you're robbing,
robbing every man in this room of what he's worked for.
We're going to be jarred by circumstances.
We're going to be messed up.
We're going to slip.
What matters is that you get back up.
Stick to it and always come back home to it.
It's time to hit back.
Life knocked you in the mouth years ago, and you haven't hit back yet.
You hit back with determination.
You hit back with focus.
You hit back when you listen.
You hit back when you obey what is right.
You hit back when you are disciplined.
You hit back with resilience.
Get in the ring and hit back.
Life has hit you too many times.
It's time to get up and hit back.
This is your time, all right?
Good day.
Right? You fucking get out there.
There's a lot of shit that we've been through all that fucking hair.
All the shit that we've gone through over the fucking years.
You put it in that ring right now.
This is yours.
This is fucking yours.
Sometimes you have to let other people's dreams for your life die for yours to live.
And for me, it was like when I continued to every day not want to wake up, that was my wake up call.
Where I was like, either I continue to live this way and not want to be alive.
Or I just risked the fact that I'll die to everybody else.
And I think that that, like, it was the hardest decision in my entire life.
Now I have a chance of fight.
I want a fight for something. I want a fight for something. I want that. That's all I want.
This person, this competition is actually bringing out the best in me. Like, oh, I have more. I have
more to give. And come this for you. What are you going to do? How bad do you want it?
There's two options to continue forward, pushing upward. And if you do, that dream is given birth.
And forever, you will live in the reality of it. If you stop, quit, throw in the tail. I promise you there's no
distance you can travel far enough or find that dream again for it's dead and in its death
is replaced by regret right now it's your choice what is that thing that's been gnawing at our
gut that we wanted to do wanted to accomplish what's that goal what's that mountain we've wanted to
climb the mountain we've wanted to move the mountain we've wanted to create is it self-care self-help
Is it getting in the best shape of your life?
Is it understanding your body more?
Is that one day, like, ah, one day I'll do that thing
that I've always wanted to do.
Or you make the commitment now,
and you say, this is day one.
I am on a mission to get this particular thing done,
and I'm gonna get it done.
You wanna be the guy, right?
Yeah, be the fucking guy.
You always have to be the person who roots for you
before everybody else does.
And it's usually a single clap,
in the auditorium for a very long period of time.
It is a slow clap that's just you, rooting for you.
If you want to be great to even begin to think in today's environment
that you can pull that off in an eight-hour day is laughable.
It's just not real.
I'm a very, very, very big believer in hard work
because I think it's the differentiation.
How do I flip a switch? How do I flip a phrase?
You'll know when it happens, and you'll be the baddest person on the plan.
You have to be the champion before you become the champion,
so that means a lifestyle.
to be him before you become him.
If you want to be great,
you want to be the baddest motherfucker ever at what you do,
you can be misunderstood by everybody
because you're going to be so fucking obsessed
and so driven to get there.
That's what it takes.
It takes every second of your fucking life.
Anybody says balance?
Yeah, balance is important for a lot of fucking people.
It is.
But if you want to fucking go to that edge
where people do not like you,
don't understand you, question everything you fucking do,
you've arrived.
That fact that you have the ability to do something
And you're too weak to fucking turn the key and start the engine on it is a greater disappointment and a greater burden to carry than any of this physical sweat equity.
Everybody wants to have an easy way.
They're not understanding.
We're overweight.
They're distracted.
They're poor.
They have so few skills because it has never been easier to start a business, to make money, to get in shape.
It's just also never been easier to do nothing.
If this is going to work for you, you gotta give up every fucking minute, every drop of blood you have.
You cannot take your eyes off this day.
But for some reason, I thought that I needed to be the guy.
And I said, no, you know what?
You don't need to be the guy.
Your leader, you need to support your leader.
And it's not about you.
And so that right there also changed my attitude because then, from then on, in my career and in my life,
I realized, hey, I don't always need to be the center of attention, which is what our ego wants to
Our ego always wants it to be about us.
And it's not about us.
It's not about us at all.
In fact, in a situation like that,
where the platoon commander wants to do something,
maybe he sees something that I don't see,
maybe he's got a different strategic objective
that he wants to accomplish, and I'm undermining that.
And what does that do to our platoon?
Hey, it makes me feel great, because I think, oh yeah,
I might not be the guy in charge, but I'm out here making the calls.
That's your ego.
And what you have to do is subordinate your ego
and be supportive of the person that's in charge
and you move forward together as a team,
because that's what it's.
It's about it's not about me.
It's about the team.
If you are someone that deals with a crippling sense of insufficiency,
your ability to discount any good thoughts you have in your mind is going to be so strong.
If you try and lead with positivity first, I need to think it, wish it, believe it, and I will achieve it,
your set point of negativity is going to just crush that into the ground.
I'm speaking from personal experience, right, as the guy that was chronically unconfident and still has the imposter syndrome that does creep in.
You have to start with action.
It needs to be, okay, what would have had to have happened in a week's time for me to look back on that week and find pride in myself?
Stop breaking promises to yourself.
When you say, I'm going to wake up tomorrow at 7 a.m.
And when the option comes to hit the snooze button, don't do it.
There's one win that you've got for the day.
That's action, right?
You want to leave your job and become a writer.
Okay, can you commit to writing one blog post on substack per week for the next three weeks?
That would make you feel like less of a loser if you did that.
Action has to come first.
Winning requires you to go so far deep inside yourself.
it's way beyond the surface.
It's way beyond internal.
It's going to a place that a lot of people haven't visited in a long, long time
because they're afraid to visit that person
because when they visit that person,
they don't know who that person is anymore.
Your life is just to live your life inside the world,
try not to bash into the walls too much,
try to have a nice family life, have fun, save a little money.
but life that's a very limited life life life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact
and that is everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you
and you can change it you can influence it you can you can build your own things that other people
can use and the minute that you understand that you can poke life and actually something will
You know, if you push in, something will pop out the other side, that you can change it, you can mold it.
That's maybe the most important thing.
When I was growing up, you know, I watched like a lot of westerns.
You know, it was the silent hero kind of thing, the Gary Cooper thing.
But my idea of masculinity growing up was a man who was in control of himself, who wasn't mean, wasn't pushing people around,
who is decent, who treated women well.
So treating women well is a masculine virtue, is a good thing.
It comes from a position of strength.
You're not insecure about your masculinity.
You don't have to prove that you're a man by demeaning women, by pushing them around.
You can respect women, and respecting them is a sign of your strength.
It's a sign of being secure in your masculinity.
You don't need to put other people down to make yourself feel better.
Okay?
So we have to redefine these qualities.
But there are no icons like out there.
You'll either have the Andrew Tate's out of there,
or you have these wimpy men who are just so afraid of being masculine.
Okay?
Your aggression, your assertiveness, your testosterone,
it's a good thing.
It's how things get done.
It's what energizes you, what puts you in the world,
it makes you ambitious.
It makes you assert yourself and motivate yourself.
It has to be channeled.
It has to be disciplined.
but you have to see
you know we were talking about
are people pleasing things
and how you reframe it
you have to see
who you are and see the virtue
and see the power in that
you know look I always try to outwork people
right that's just how I made my mark so the game
was at seven I was like you know what I'm going to come
to the stable center because we're playing this one
the Lakers at Kobe and Shaq
okay this is this is like the championship Lakers
I'm going to get there
three o'clock. I want to make sure I make 400 main shots before I go back into the room and
then I sit in and so on and I get ready for the game. So, you know, get in the car, get to the gym,
get there and as I'm walking onto the court, who do I see? I see Kobe Bryant already working out.
So I worked out for a good hour, hour and a half. And when I came off after I was done, I sat down
and of course I still heard the ball bouncing. I look down like, this guy's, this guy's still
working out. He was working out.
It looks like he was in a dead sweat when I got here.
And he's still going. And it's not like his moves are
nonchalant, lazy. He's doing like game moves.
You know, I sit there and I unlace my shoes. I'm like,
I want to see how long this goes. I sit there and watch.
25 minutes. And he got done. I said, okay.
I think I've seen enough. Go play. You know, come back.
Get in the sauna. Get ready for the game. That game, he drops 40 on us.
Okay? And after the game is over, I'm like, I have to ask.
this guy, I have to understand, like, why, why he works like that.
So after the answer, I'm like, hey, Cove, like, why were you in a gym for so long?
He's like, because I saw you come in.
And I wanted you to know that it doesn't matter how hard you work that I'm willing to work
than you.
Wow.
And he's like, don't hold, there's nothing wrong with that.
Like, I'm not saying, I dislike you as a person.
You just, you inspire me to be better.
And it was the first time I started to see this.
level of competitiveness where I said, I need to start doing more.
