Instead of backing down, you push yourself forward into the unknown. At some point, everything's going to go south on you. And you're going to say, this is it. This is how I end.
Starting point is 00:00:50 Now you can either accept that or you can get to work. You just begin. You do the math. You solve one problem and you solve the next one. I want to remind y'all of the power of the mind. You can think your way into stress.
Starting point is 00:01:07 You can think your way into misery, frustration. But if you change your mind to change your life, you just have to decide in your mind what you want it to be. The journey's not easy. It's hard. It's hard to keep your spirits together. But As we begin to look at what we want, what's going to be crucial for you is to look toward the future and every time you find yourself
Starting point is 00:01:35 saying that you can't do something, putting yourself down, being negative about you and the possibilities for you, you've got to literally catch yourself. And you've got to affirm to yourself in the process, hey, hey, hey, hey, no, no, no, I can make it. There's some way this can happen for me. We are in control of our mind. We believe it's the other way around.
Starting point is 00:02:00 No, we put in our minds what we should do. We have to reprogram it. It tells us, no, no, no, we're good. This sucks, but it's okay. There is nothing in your life that's worthwhile, that's quick and easy. Everything worthwhile is uphill. You're never going to feel like it. It's your job to make yourself do the crap you don't want to
Starting point is 00:02:25 do so you can be everything that you're supposed to be there is no passion to be found playing small and settling for a life that's less than the one you're capable of living what if you give it everything you have and you come up short? What if you get weak along the way and you throw in a towel on yourself, you surrender? What then? A lot of people become discouraged. They become frustrated and they say, oh, what the heck? And they go back to doing what they were doing before saying it doesn't work. You the captain you're the master you're the foreman you're the general you're the head don't give control of this to nobody welcome to daily motivation where you get motivated you can always better your best.
Starting point is 00:03:26 You can always go beyond anything that you have ever done. And so all you're looking for are new breakthroughs through practice and practice. You'll get better and better. Easy doesn't pay well. If somebody came and knocked you down, boom, and they know you can do about it. But if I come back a week later and you're still on the ground,
Starting point is 00:03:46 we got a problem. And some of you, you say, Eric, it ain't nothing you can do about it. But if I come back a week later and you're still on the ground, we got a problem. And some of you, you say, Eric, it ain't my fault. You're right. The way you were born, what happened to you is not your fault. But doggone it, you're still on the ground after 20 years? You have absolutely nothing to do with what happened to you. It's not your fault. You got knocked on the ground. You had absolutely nothing to do with that.
Starting point is 00:04:04 And I'm not blaming you for that. But if I come back a week later, you're still on the ground. That's your fault. Choose the hard path. The path of responsibility, hard work, and sacrifice. That ultimately leads to freedom. Keep playing the game. Keep grinding. Keep working. And that other stuff will take care of itself. Do you realize that every day you thought you wasn't going to make it? Do you remember them days where you thought it was absolutely unbearable and you thought you wasn't going to endure that one?
Starting point is 00:04:38 Do you know that your survival rate for every last one of them bad days is 100 percent? Success, guys, a very, very lonely road, man. Very few people are willing to endure the pain, the sacrifice, and the diligence to be successful. It's an uphill battle. Along that road, you're not going to see too many friends. You're going to see your shadow most often. Get out of the soft and addictive comfort zone and get into the combat zone where you have to fight, where you have to dig deep. You have to be vigilant. You have to be on guard. You have to hold the line on the seemingly
Starting point is 00:05:20 insignificant little things, things that shouldn't't matter but things that do when everybody is against you or don't believe in you no more it's a lonely feeling that look at you with that look and say why don't you try something else why don't you give up there's been so many times in our lives where people tell you you can't do something. Where would you be if every single time someone told you you can't do something, you listened to them? There will be times when you will feel alone and you will feel deserted when you feel weak and you doubt yourself. And other people doubt you and you ask yourself, am I crazy?
Starting point is 00:06:05 There will be times when the darkness seems to consume everything. But don't let it consume you. Even in the darkest times, even in the strongest storms, even when the sun is blotted out and the world is falling apart, the darkness cannot extinguish your light. You, your will you your will your determination no matter what is happening no matter how hard the fight is as long as you keep fighting you win only surrender is defeat only quitting is the end and believe and know within yourself and don't doubt in everything in you that everything is going to be alright.
Starting point is 00:06:48 I dare you to use your imagination. I dare you when you grow to use your imagination. I dare you when you're rich to use your imagination. I dare you under every single circumstance keep dreaming, keep looking at your dream, keep focusing on your dream, Keep going after the dream because that's where true success is. Oh, you're being unrealistic. You're dreaming. Yes, I am dreaming. I tell a lot of people to stop dreaming. Don't you stop dreaming. Whatever storm you found yourself in today, don't give up. And I know it hurts and I know you don't want to take it anymore. Your dreams look like you're seeing them from underwater.
Starting point is 00:07:27 But don't give up. You have not seen the best days of your life yet. When it just doesn't make any logical sense to go on, that's when you use your emotion, your anger, your frustration to push you to say, I don't stop. You need to win battles in order to win the war. You need to get out of bed. You need to run. You need to work out. You need to read and study and practice. And you need to do things that you don't necessarily want to do. And I know that can be hard. That's why people lose the war. daily fight is a challenge you will not always want
Starting point is 00:08:07 to do what you need to do you will not always feel like doing something you need to do you may not want to fight that battle but you need to you gotta stop telling yourself that you're doing enough you have to do more and life is never enough until you feel this overwhelming feeling of, man, I'm out working the crowd. I'm out working everybody. I'm doing more. Once you get there, that's when you know you've done enough. You're going to hit a wall.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Everybody hits the wall. And that wall shocked some people. That wall knocked the life out of some people. That wall discouraged some people. That wall is painful. Some will choose to go back. But there's some small number who, when they hit that wall, they decide, wait a minute, I'm supposed to be over there.
Starting point is 00:08:55 This person doesn't care about the pain. Because this person knows something. There's no game without pain. So this person comes back anyhow again and again and again and if you keep on hit that wall here's what happens to you that you will have an incredible breakthrough when a lion is born is not a lion when the lion is born it's a cub do you know what makes it look the way it looks how does a lion look like that but a giraffe don't look like that it is the
Starting point is 00:09:28 process of hunting is not the actual meat that makes him look like that it is the actual hunts it's the actual chasing so whether he catch it or not every time he goes on the hunt he's developing some of y'all so caught up on the game that you don't get it it isn't in practicing. It is in lifting weights. It is in resting. It is in eating right. It is in making good decisions that you look a certain way. It is how you practice. It is what you do that makes you look like you look. It is the process of the grind that shapes you and forms you. It's not the game. How much longer are you gonna wait?
Starting point is 00:10:05 How much longer? you going to wait? How much longer? You're going to wait another 30 seconds? You're going to wait another minute? You're going to wait another hour? Maybe we'll start in a couple hours. You know what? How about I just wait until tomorrow? You're going to wait until tomorrow? You're going to wait another week?
Starting point is 00:10:23 You're going to wait another month? How much longer are you gonna wait? Don't let anybody ever tell you you're not good enough. Okay? So many young people think that they can't. Or they're not, they don't have the potential. If you really want something bad enough, if you really, really want something bad enough, you'll figure out a way to get there.
Starting point is 00:10:43 It's about a commitment to you because you want somebody else to be more committed to you than you want to be to yourself. And you got to get to the point where no other human wants it for you more than you want it for you. When you don't have any other option but to succeed, your chances of success are pretty good. It is. I am going to succeed no matter what I have to do, no matter how hard it is, no matter how difficult the road, no matter how many obstacles stand in my way, no matter how many people stand in my way, no matter what. On the days I don't feel like it, guess what? I'm still getting up. I'm still putting my work boots on and I'm still going out and kicking ass.
Starting point is 00:11:27 That's what people who succeed do. Short term thinking says the donut tastes good. Eat it. Short term thinking says one workout doesn't matter. I can skip it. Short term thinking encourages you to make short term emotional decisions that hurt you in the long run. The more short-term decisions you make, decisions that are based on that immediate gratification, decisions based on quick emotional satisfaction, the further from the path you will stray. That's why I say you've got to pay attention
Starting point is 00:12:06 You have to watch every single Second because those seconds turn into minutes and minutes turn into hours and hours Turning the days and days turn in two years You need tactical wins. You got to proactively prepare to catch yourselves when you find yourself getting negative with people that you have allowed to push your buttons, when you find yourself becoming negative about what's happening to you and the circumstances that you're involved in. Think strategic all the time before any action or any inaction ask yourself is this action going to make me stronger
Starting point is 00:12:47 or weaker you have to tell yourself the truth you don't get better on the daggone couch you get better by coming out here and getting the f**k after every daggone day all great people start they start anywhere at any, and at any time. They start whether they're hurting. They start whether they're excited. It does not matter where they are. They just start. When that alarm clock goes off at 4 or 5 in the morning, your mind says no.
Starting point is 00:13:18 You just say, this is what we do. It's what we do now. You got to tell your brain where you want to go and how you want to go and how you want to get there. Expand yourself. Take yourself out your comfort zone. If you stay in your comfort zone, that's where you will fail. You will fail in your comfort zone.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Success is not a comfortable procedure. It is a very uncomfortable thing to attempt. So you got to get comfortable being uncomfortable if you ever want to be successful. So you got to get comfortable being uncomfortable if you ever want to be successful. So next time you are feeling weak or lazy or soft, tell those feelings they don't get a vote. You have to attack. You have to keep attacking. The enemy has to know he is not going to give up. You must break the soul of whatever the fuck is in front of you. If you keep on attacking something, nothing wants to stand in front of anything that is relentless.
Starting point is 00:14:08 But you have to have the will, the heart, the courage to go that distance when you're exactly jacked up. You have nothing left to give. Stop negotiating the priceless negotiation you keep doing in your mind. Is this really what I'm supposed to be? Is this what I'm supposed to be doing? It steals all your energy. It steals your focus. But those of you that get laser focused become totally immersed in your dream.
Starting point is 00:14:28 Most people don't ever make it where they want to go because they give themselves mental outs. They can say, oh, this business doesn't make enough money. So they quit. You have to learn to train your brain with a zero options mentality. You have to learn to seek out, to be uncomfortable. You have to put yourself in positions where your back is against the wall. That's when you're going to fight. And the truth is, you have time.
Starting point is 00:14:54 You have the skill. You have the knowledge and the willpower and the discipline to get it done. What are you going to do with the rest of your life? I had to start taking some of my own advice. I have been telling people I had written about it for a very long time. That if you're doing something that you're not totally committed to, if you're doing something that you're not totally committed to if you're doing something that you're not totally passionate about you're compromising yourself every day it's in my head 24 7. there's nothing else i can think i don't i don't think about nothing else
Starting point is 00:15:36 and that's it i'm just curious curiously fascinated really and i can't stop thinking about everything i do in my life is is related to. I don't do nothing else if it's not got to do with fighting. Think big because then you're gonna get big. Then you're gonna go and achieve big things. That is the most important thing. We don't achieve big things by accident. So shoot for the top, shoot for the sky. When you are struggling and you start thinking about giving up, I want you to remember the power of hope.
Starting point is 00:16:14 The belief that something better is always possible if you're willing to work for it and fight for it. Our hope that if we work hard enough and believe in ourselves, then we can be whatever we dream. The hope that when people see us for who we truly are, maybe, just maybe, they too will be inspired to rise to their best possible selves. You're in this storm and you're down on your knees and you're cold and you're weak and you feel like this is the end. You have a choice to either give up or keep going.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Give up or get up. You just take one step at a time. When you fail, try again and again and again. I woke up one day and stopped making excuses. I woke up one day and stopped playing the blame game. I woke up one day and looked at the man in the mirror and was like, yo, bro, what are you doing? Wake up. It's showtime. Let's go. You know, everything happens for a reason and there's a story to everything. And if you take time to realize what your dream is and what you really want in life, no matter what it is, whether it's sports, whether it's other fields, you have to realize that there's always work to do and you want to be the hardest working person
Starting point is 00:17:41 in whatever you do and you'll put yourself in a position to be successful. And you have to have a passion about what you do seize the day the opportunities are there but you got to reach out and pick them up you've got to grab at it don't be afraid to make a mistake because you know what you can do if you grab the wrong one drop it and pick up another one. It's okay. Seize the day. You get to a point where you don't count it. You just do whatever it takes to get whatever you want. This life that we live, it's a privilege. And when I really started to take that in,
Starting point is 00:18:33 I felt this tremendous urge to do something with my life. And to say, yeah, you know what, I'm going to take action. Nothing changes if nothing changes, man. I just want to remind you because I've spent a lot of time in my life
Starting point is 00:18:51 sitting around wanting things to change and not being able to make them change and not thinking I could. And I wish somebody had told me that earlier sometimes
Starting point is 00:19:02 that in order for something to change there needs to be change. It's all in your mind. Whatever you hold in your mind will tend to occur in your life. If you continue to believe as you have always believed, you will continue to act as you have always acted. You will continue to get what you have always gotten. If you want different results in your life or your work, all you have to do is change your mind. And I want to be clear that your intuition is different from your conscience.
Starting point is 00:19:37 They work in tandem, but here's the distinction. Your conscience shouts, here's what you should do. While your intuition whispers, here's what you should do while your intuition whispers here's what you could do listen to that voice that tells you what you could do nothing will define your character more than that man life short go harder than you did last year whatever you thought you did, it wasn't enough. And enjoy it even more. See that?
Starting point is 00:20:11 Go harder and find a way to enjoy it. That's when you master the game. Push yourself them extra reps. Go harder. Have that extra two meetings that day. And find a way to enjoy it. I want to be something more than Shaq. The Shaq guy is going to fade away.
Starting point is 00:20:28 Because you got Steph Curry and all these guys stepping up. The Shaq guy will fade away at some point in time. But Dr. Shaquille O'Neal will be around forever and ever. Don't be afraid to fail. Because if you're afraid to fail, then you're always holding yourself back because you're afraid
Starting point is 00:20:44 that if you go all out, you may fail. I invested too much to quit. I made too many sacrifices to give up. We've come too far to give up now. We've come too far to be negative now. We've come too far to start overthinking now. Stop waiting for life to be easy. Stop hoping for somebody to save you. You don't need another person lying to you. Things don't all add up. But you are resilient. Face some hard facts and you could have an incredible life.
Starting point is 00:21:20 There are people in this world who will try to make you believe that they are better than you. That they can win at your expense. Rage is the tool we use to look those people in the eye and prove them wrong. Sometimes you need to get knocked down before you can really figure out what your fight is. And how you need to fight it. Sometimes you need to feel the pain and sting of defeat to activate the real passion and purpose that God predestined inside of you. For somebody going through tough times, for somebody struggling just to keep your head above water you're trying but things don't seem to be quite working out the way you plan you thought
Starting point is 00:22:14 you'd be in a different place at this season in your life but you're still suffering you need dirt on you to develop. Because dirt ain't just dirt. Dirt is fertilizer. Dirt is nutrient. Dirt gives you the strength for your seed to push through. You gotta have dirt on you to push through something. Everything you see that's beautiful starts out as a seed.
Starting point is 00:22:41 But that seed got to get dirt on it. You got to have dirt on you to grow into what life got for you. You can't stop because you're tired. You can't stop because you got your feelings hurt. You got to take another lap. Keep walking. Keep walking. Keep walking. You're going to make it. You're going to do it. You got an unstoppable fire. Come on, take another lap. Don't you stop. Don't stop walking. It's really hard to be led by your butt. But I'm not qualified. But I'm not good enough. But I'm not smart enough. But I didn't go to the right school. But I don't have enough money. But, but, but, but, but if you're ever going to step into your future, if you're ever going to step into your destiny, you're going to have to get over your butt. Do I just sit there and settle?
Starting point is 00:23:36 No, I don't. I say enough's enough, man. And I'm going to make a change and I'm going to keep going until I get it. You chase something that you believe you deserve until you get it. And it doesn't matter what happens to you. It doesn't matter how many times you get fired. It doesn't matter how many people don't believe in you. Just go until you get it. That's the point. Are you tired yet?
Starting point is 00:23:55 Some of you need to get tired. You need to be tired of what's going on in your life. Get tired of your habits. Get tired of the actions that you're putting in every day. You got to change, man, or nothing changes. See, most people, ladies and gentlemen, are stoppable. Most people, all you have to do is tell them no. All you have to do is make it inconvenient for them.
Starting point is 00:24:16 All you have to do is make it difficult for them, and they're stuck. See, when you go to get your goal, don't think that all you have to do is think positive and everything's going to work out okie dokie for you when you go to get your goal you are sending a telegram to murphy's law to visit you personally and that's what a pity party is is when you have an unbisciplined mind and you meditate on the wrong thing over and over and over again if you're going to throw a pity party i give you three days and that's it and after three days you cut up your record player your iPod your mp3 and you come up with the plan you thought you were just gonna have a dream and a goal and you were just gonna wake up and just walk into the sunset you're like dream boom it don't work like that
Starting point is 00:24:58 you have a dream and then life pumps you Life pumps you and say do you really want this? And so I'm telling y'all you have come too far to quit now. You have invested too much to quit now. You have lost too much to quit now. Don't cry about it. Don't whine about it. Get a reward for your pain. When you hang around average people all they're going to do is tell you what they can't do, and that's okay that they can't do it, but that has absolutely nothing to do with us. We can do whatever
Starting point is 00:25:34 we believe we can do, and we don't need anybody's permission to do it but ours. Life life is not always about conquering often it's simply about enduring sometimes it's just it's just about enduring and you have to know when to conquer and when to endure. We're called to stand firm, stand our ground, stay put and endure, to not give up, to not quit, to not run away. Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step you've just got to believe that you can learn you don't have to believe that you're already capable of doing what you want you don't have to believe that you can already build that thing that you dream you don't have to believe that you
Starting point is 00:26:36 already are extraordinary you simply have to believe that if you take that first step you put yourself on a journey not of execution you put yourself on a journey of learning so that you can execute you're a smart person you do know you know exactly what to do but you don't do it because maybe you don't believe in yourself maybe you're so scared of what happens if you actually win but all I can say is let that shit go all that chatter in your mind, all you got to do is take that first step and don't focus on a year or two years or five years from now. You
Starting point is 00:27:10 don't know where you're going to be. Just put one foot forward in front of the other. Whatever the vision is that you have for your life, you absolutely can make it come true. And the process is very simple. The process is about learning. The process is about growing and getting better. It's about recognizing what you're not good at. It's about recognizing what you have to learn. It's about taking that first step on faith.
Starting point is 00:27:40 You have to be willing to grit it out. You have to be willing to bring it up. You have to be willing to push through discomfort. Nothing that you're about to try or do that is worthwhile is going to be comfortable for you during the process of creating it. Stop with this, folks. Stop with this, I wish, and start replacing those terms with I will f***ing do, no matter what. I'm not going to settle for this. This is not going to be it for my life. I deserve more than this. You have to know that this thing is going to work. Come hell or high water, whatever it is that I set out to do, it may not happen in six months, it may not happen in a year, but at
Starting point is 00:28:18 some point, my dream is going to become a reality. You can decide that you're going to change, that you're going to stand up to life. I got me here, I can get me out of this. And I'm getting out. You can decide, I'm going to work on myself and develop myself. I'm going to empower me. Life is difficult.
Starting point is 00:28:39 It really is. What makes life difficult for a lot of people is they don't think life should be difficult. And so therefore, they're looking for a quick way, a quick answer, an easy way. There are none. It truly is uphill all the way. And to go uphill, you have to be intentional. All of us have experienced some tragedy, and if we haven't, we will.
Starting point is 00:29:00 And you can either let it destroy your life or you can build upon it. You can permit it to let it hold you down or you can decide, I'm not going to let that happen to me. I'm bigger than this. Make a declaration to yourself. Declare all out war that you're going to get out of this rut. I don't care how good you are. I don't care how talented you are.
Starting point is 00:29:21 I don't care how much you work on yourself. There are some times when things aren't going to go right. You've spent your career working to get here. Now we have to start all over. It's a dark place. Probably the darkest it's ever been. You're sad and down and out and you ask yourself why did this have to happen? It's in this moment that you find out who you really are and what you're really about. You have to decide if you are willing to do the things to put you in that category. Rich people don't sleep eight hours a day.
Starting point is 00:29:58 That's a third of your life. You cannot be asleep eight hours a day. You can't live in L.A. and wake up at 8 o'clock in the morning. They're already making decisions about your life and your ass was sleep there's gonna be a dogfight I would love to tell you that on the road to success everything is gonna work out it's not it's a dog fight it's hard but I've made up in my mind that I will get a reward for the pain that I go through
Starting point is 00:30:26 I will not stop in the middle of process. I will not be defeated. I will not be destroyed I will take everything that happens in my life And I will allow the pain to push me to greatness. You will not break me. You will not stop me The only way I lose is if I quit you've got to discipline yourself and you've got to learn that when you don't feel like it you must still do it or actually go harder when you don't feel like it because out of 365 days there are going to be days you don't feel like getting up they're gonna be days you don't want to work out there's gonna be days you don't want to watch
Starting point is 00:31:02 film there's gonna be days that you don't want to practice they're gonna be days you might not even want to play there to be days you don't want to watch film. There's going to be days that you don't want to practice. There are going to be days you might not even want to play. There might be days you don't even feel like getting in the game. But listen to me very closely, champions, if you want to make it to the next level, it's not about money. It's not about what you wear. You start separating the boys from the men. Listen to me, all of us can go buy a car, but all of us can't get up in the morning and grind. You can either stand up and take that small step forward. You don't have to know where you're going. You don't have to have the perfect plan.
Starting point is 00:31:41 You don't have to know what tomorrow holds. The smallest of steps eventually completes the grandest of journeys. One small step at a time. You work hard, try to stay positive, try to be a good person, do the right thing. And it'll not only bring you out of that, but take you to great places. you get one shot at this gig right here life one life that's all you've got and regret in and of itself it's worthless it does nothing for you in fact the only valuable thing in regret is the lesson you learned the knowledge that you gained but walking around filled with regret gets you nothing take that first step do whatever it is that you thought you couldn't do and don't be afraid because that is the most important moment in your life and then you realize it's not so bad okay people, people are making fun of me. I failed, but they never tried anything.
Starting point is 00:32:46 I at least tried it, and now I have an idea for my next, but it wasn't so bad. But if you never make that first step, I don't care. The wisdom of Solomon won't be able to help you. He'll always be stopping before you. So you've got to have the guts to make that first step, and then the doors will open for you. I found that nothing in life is worthwhile unless you take risks. Nothing.
Starting point is 00:33:11 Nelson Mandela said, There is no passion to be found playing small and settling for a life that's less than the one you're capable of living. Now, I'm sure in your experiences in school and applying to college and picking your major and deciding what you want to do with life, I'm sure people have told you to make sure you have something to fall back on. Make sure you got something to fall back on, honey.
Starting point is 00:33:37 But I never understood that concept. Having something to fall back on. If I'm going to fall, I don't want to fall back on. If I'm going to fall, I don't want to fall back on anything. I want to fall forward. I figure at least this way I'll see what I'm going to hit. Person's character is not judged when they ride the wave of success. When everyone chants their name and you want to be their friend, no.
Starting point is 00:34:01 Your character is put to the test when your back is against the wall. Most of us fail in life because we're afraid of what everyone around you is thinking. That's 100% truth. So, we live by the narrative of other
Starting point is 00:34:19 people. What's funny about failure is we're afraid to fail a lot of times because we're afraid to get those people telling us that we're not good that we shouldn't try again and the most important thing to learn is that we have so much to learn we all do and we can learn from school and from people and from experience and we learn from life but you have to process the information you have to absorb it you have to accept it you have to open your mind you gotta free your mind so that you can learn and make real progress. Don't let regret beat you down.
Starting point is 00:35:06 Don't be a slave to regret. No. Let it teach you. Let it make you better. Let the fear of regret fuel you to take action. Today. Now. To take action now to become a better person not filled with regret
Starting point is 00:35:32 but filled with knowledge filled with knowledge and strength and power and filled with life. Pain is temporary. It may last for a minute or an hour or a day or even a year. But eventually, it will subside. And something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it will last forever. I dare you
Starting point is 00:36:07 to take a little pain. Every failed experiment is one step closer to success. You've got to take risks and I'm sure you've probably heard that before. You will fail at some point in your life. Accept it. You will lose. You will embarrass yourself. You will suck at at something there's no doubt about it if you don't fail you're not even trying to get something you never had you have to do something you never did you have to understand that there are going to be times when you you know it's low it's bad everything's going wrong everything's got you stressed you know, it's low, it's bad. Everything's going wrong. Everything's got you stressed. Everything's got you mad. Everything's got you frustrated. And that
Starting point is 00:36:50 could go on for a couple of weeks to even longer, go on for months. That's just the life of an entrepreneur. It's the life of an ambitious person. You have to understand everything is cyclical. You're not going to win all the time. You're not going to succeed all the time. You're not going to have good shit happen all the time. Just like you're not going to have bad shit continue to happen all the time. There's highs that are super high and there's lows that are super low. And you just have to learn that when things are frustrating, when things are making you mad, when things are making you feel pissed, when you're getting to the point where you're like saying, dude, that's when you've got to stick it through.
Starting point is 00:37:29 That's when you've got to push even harder. That's when you've got to make sure that even at a minimum, you're still executing on the same path that you were when you were winning because that's what's going to push you through the break. Don't believe the crushing that you're in as if it is your final residence or place of abode. You may have to live there for a little while, but borrow it.
Starting point is 00:37:56 Don't buy it because you will rise again. Don't own that pain, don't own that suffering, don't own that agony, don't own that suffering, don't own that agony, don't own that rage, don't own that depression, don't own that loneliness. Rent it if you must, but don't own it. Despite the circumstance, you can win. Despite the adversity, you can win. Despite the situation, you can win.
Starting point is 00:38:22 You can win! You can win! You can pull it off! There's something about you that no matter what life throws at you, you will overcome it. You're not cut from the same cloth. What do you do when you tried and failed and you want to quit and you want to give up? The storms will come.
Starting point is 00:39:04 There are times when the nights will come there are times when the nights will be long and dark and you will be alone there will be times when the darkness seems to consume everything do not
Starting point is 00:39:20 let the darkness win, fight fight on I want to remind you Do not let the darkness win. Fight. Fight on. I want to remind you to continue to dream and dream big. And understand that your family and friends and loved ones, in most cases, boyfriends, girlfriends, they will be the first to try and talk you out of your dreams your visions and ideas as to what you're supposed to do with your life they will say who wants you when you put on all that weight nobody's interested in you nobody's checking for
Starting point is 00:40:00 you they'll laugh at you they'll call you names because they have no dreams they have no hunger for success they don't have an appetite they don't want it can't help myself I want to win they can't see it till they see it. They can't know it till they know it. They can't be it till they be it. If you don't fail, you're not even trying. To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did. Now if you know what you're worth, did now if you know what you're worth
Starting point is 00:40:45 the glory get what you're worth but you got to be willing to take the hits and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you want to be because of him or her or anybody towers do that and that ain't you you're better than that you are not any further than where you are right now because you have never thrown your whole self at anything in your life everybody's got big plans but the plans out the window when they get punched in the face life is going to test that will every time life is going to see how bad you want what you say you would I don't care how good you are don't care how good you are. I don't care how talented you are. There are some times when things aren't going to go right.
Starting point is 00:41:28 And you have to deal with it. And most people will give up. But you've got to decide that I'm going to be relentless. I refuse to be denied. And I'm going to go all out. Know why you are doing what you are doing and then get out there every day and win those small tactical short-term battles so you can win the strategic long-term victory that puts you where you want to be and it's not gonna be easy the fight
Starting point is 00:42:07 the daily fight is a challenge you will not always want to do what you need to do you will not always feel like doing something you need to do pain is temporary it may last for a minute or an hour or a day or even a year. But eventually, it will subside. And something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it will last forever. Did you know that only 1% of people are naturally extraordinarily gifted at something? Less than 1% actually.
Starting point is 00:42:43 Think genius. Think savant Do you know what that means for us the other? 99 plus percent of people if we're going to do anything great in this life It is going to require Discipline that's the truth. It is going to require you pushing through the discomfort and embracing the grind. Everybody has a turn back moment. You have a moment where you can go forward or you can give up. But the thing you have to keep in mind before you give up
Starting point is 00:43:15 is that if you give up the guarantee is it will never happen. Unreal how much time you waste during the day. And most of it is on these fucking computers, phones, you know, Instagramming back and forth, wherever the hook you call this shit nowadays, tweeting and texting and shit. We waste so much time on our little gadgets. It's unreal.
Starting point is 00:43:41 And we talk about we have no time. If you really take, you have to take your day. Write down this one day. Everything you do, write that down. And you're like, my God, I am wasting so much time on frivolous bullshit. It's not even funny. I mean, it will infuriate you. It should.
Starting point is 00:43:57 Because there's so much time. I can't get it in. Look at your schedule. You just wasted seven hours a day on bullshit. I mean, and you don't have an hour a day to try to get something in for yourself I guarantee everybody can find an hour life doesn't happen to you we all think that life happens to me right life happens for you it happens for I mean opportunities will come to you every day it's either for, you can remain scared of the opportunities,
Starting point is 00:44:27 or you can embrace them and take them. But I finally realized that if you give up on your dreams, if you give up on your dreams, what do you have left? I don't care if you have to inch your way day by day, even if you have to get down. And it hurts, and it's hard, and nobody can see what you're really going through. If you don't quit, the pit will become your platform.
Starting point is 00:45:08 I have spent my whole life scared, frightened of things that could happen, might happen, might not happen. 50 years I spent like that. Finding myself awake at three in the morning. What I came to realize is that fear, that's the real enemy. So, get out. Get out in the real world.
Starting point is 00:45:33 And you kick that bastard as hard as you can right in the teeth. If you really want to be transformed, you have to live an intentional life. Most people don't lead their life, they accept their life. And when you accept your life, you are living on things that are not worthy of your time and effort and energy. To go uphill, you have to be intentional. Nobody ever went uphill by accident. You've never read a book on accidental achievements. You have to be intentional with what you do and who you are. Don't let anybody ever tell you you're not good enough. Okay. And so many young people think that they can't, or they're not, they don't have the potential. Or if somebody else is better, you know, if you really want something bad enough,
Starting point is 00:46:18 if you really, really want something bad enough, you'll figure out a way to get there. It may not be exactly what you had in mind, like the Olympia third place wasn't exactly what I had in mind. Okay, but I'll take third place. And I really believe if you want something bad enough, you can will it to happen. What do you do when a thousand other people want exactly what you want? What if you're not the only one that wants what you want? Most people give up on themselves easily. You know the human spirit is powerful? what you want what if you're not the only one that wants what you want most people give up on themselves easily you know the human spirit is powerful
Starting point is 00:46:49 there's nothing as powerful it's hard to kill the human spirit that when you have a made-up mind you don't care about the facts you don't care about the odds the power to hold on in spite of everything. The power to endure the hunger, the ability to face defeat again and again without giving up. This is a winner's quality. You have that quality within you. You love sleep too much. You love that alcohol too much. You love that substance too much.
Starting point is 00:47:23 You love that vice too much. There's something that you love more than yourself some of you in the room right now you are where you are you give me 60% when you have 120 in you why because you've never made a decision we all have 24 hours all right what makes what some of us average make some of us do it something great that's everything to do with how you command your life. Greatness, it's just something we made up. Somehow we've come to believe that greatness is a gift reserved for a chosen few,
Starting point is 00:48:04 for prodigies. For superstars. And the rest of us can only stand by watching. You can forget that. Greatness is not some rare DNA strand. It's not some precious thing. Greatness is no more unique to us than breathing. We're all capable of it. All of us. No one said that the path is going to be easy. And it's not. We know life is rough,
Starting point is 00:48:46 and we know there will be pain, and whether that pain is at the hands of an enemy or at the hands of nature or time or disease, there will be pain. That's the way life is. That's the problem with some of you. You always want to blame other people. You want to hold other people to the fire, but you're not holding yourself to the
Starting point is 00:49:08 fire. You just said you're giving 50%. You owe you an explanation. You owe you an explanation. You need to look at yourself in the mirror and say, why are you only giving 50%? What's wrong with you? You need to tell you no more TV, no more snacks, no more desserts, no more, no, we working out now. Not no, I can't handle it right now.
Starting point is 00:49:29 You need to tell you that you owe you something. You got to have a purpose no matter what you do in life. You got to have a purpose, have a vision. Do you know how great it felt that I knew where I was going? Imagine the majority of people don't know where they're going. I knew where I was going, that I'm going to become this bodybuilding champion just like him. So it was just a question of how do you do it? I was so relieved because when you have a goal when you have a vision everything becomes easy visualization has been used
Starting point is 00:50:11 for centuries to help prepare the mind the body and the consciousness for upcoming challenges situations and circumstances if you want to be a diamond you must go through extreme pressure. If you can't take pressure, then you're not a diamond. If you're looking for this easy path, don't get started. If you think they're not going to close the door on you and say no a million times, don't get started. But every time they close the door, I just get excited. Why? Because I am not a no. I'm one yes away.
Starting point is 00:50:43 You can't stop it.
