If you will change, everything will change for you.
You don't have to change what's outside.
All you've got to change is what's inside.
To have more, you simply have to become more.
And then he said, don't wish it was easier, wish you were better.
Don't wish for less problems.
Wish for more skills.
Start working on yourself, making these personal changes.
And he said it'll all change for you.
You know why?
You don't have the guts to be what you want to be.
Only risk takers win.
by definition, if you are the same as everybody else,
if you're not taking a risk over and above
what everybody else is taking, by definition, you can't win.
If you're doing exactly what everybody else is doing,
how can you possibly win?
You have to be different to win.
You have to take risks.
But if you decide to work hard wherever your feet happen to be,
then if I'm in the podcast, I'm working hard.
If I go upstairs and deal with the leadership team,
I'm working hard.
I don't know one single self-made multi-millionaire
that literally didn't work hard.
You get what you work for.
So for me working hard, I would get.
You know, most of the talent people, they're lazy.
Most of them.
I meet a lot of talent people, but they all like, okay, you know,
like, but hardworking, when you don't have talent,
you have to work so hard.
When you work so hard and sacrifice your time,
dedicate, like sacrifice, you become more disciplined.
Winners also sacrificed their weekends.
Winners ditch their excuses.
Winners show up no matter what,
no matter how they feel, if they're tired, if they're uncertain.
If they had a loss yesterday, they show up today.
Work like hell.
Work, work, work, work, work, work, work.
No results, but I'm a little bit better.
Work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work,
no results, but I'm a little bit better.
Work, work, work, work, work, work, no results, I'm a little bit better.
Work, boom.
Just got paid.
I just got paid.
And it looks like overnight success.
It's like, oh, shit.
It happened in here.
No, bro.
It doesn't.
I mean, you just have to put in 80-hour, 80-to-100-hour weeks every week.
Rest at the end, not in the middle.
And that's something I always live by.
Bro, you got to fucking stop.
You got to stop with those I can't catch a break bullshit.
All the time you're complaining, you could be instead hustling.
Believe we are all equal as human beings.
If we are obsessed with something and we try.
truly pursue our passion with everything we have, regardless of anything else.
If you are obsessed, work hard, put in the time, you will succeed.
I go anyways.
I get it done.
Even if I'm just going through the motions.
I go through the motions.
I don't really want to work out.
I work out.
I really don't want to hammer on a project.
I hammer on the project.
don't really want to get up and get out of bed
or get up and get out of bed.
Now, nobody cares.
No one you vote for is going to change it.
It's going to get worse.
It's going to continue.
And you know the boat is going to sink and you're not panicking.
That's why I kind of catch myself.
And one of the things I try very hard not to do is become elitist.
Because when you've come from the absolute bottom to the absolute top and you've done it all off of your own bag,
and hard work and dedication and never missing a day.
The only shortcut to life is to never miss a day.
To be successful at anything,
the truth is you don't have to be special.
You just have to be what most people aren't.
Consistent, determined, and willing to work for it.
No shortcuts.
You've got to be willing to fail.
You can't fail.
What I learned in the gym is most people who've won big and failed big.
All right?
There's lots of people that work really hard digging ditches every day and then are digging ditches when they're 70 years old.
There's lots of people who work really, really hard for a long time and never make it.
And that's because working hard is just part of the puzzle.
The other part of the puzzle, how high your skill set is, how developed your skill set is.
And so we have these people that say these things like, work smart, not hard, all right?
Well, you're a fucking moron, all right?
I'll just tell you that right now.
Because it takes both.
It takes hard work and it takes smart work.
What the fucking do you wait now?
We sleep one third of our fucking lives.
And we think we can take fucking days off.
We think we had the right to sit back and give us a fucking options on which way we're
going to go in life.
Am I going to run today?
Am I going to work out today?
It was Christmas.
It's New Year's.
It's my birthday.
You think time gives a fuck that is Christmas, that is New Year's, that's your birthday, you give yourself too many fucking options.
Let me tell you one thing.
Time is running out.
You keep on sitting around wondering what the fuck you want to do.
You got to be intentional and deliberate, whether you're making money or not making money.
You've got to decide that you're going to do something and you got to do it every Monday, every Tuesday, every Wednesday, every Thursday, every Thursday, every Thursday, every Thursday, every Thursday.
The problem with something in this room, you're not intentional and deliberate.
You're a good person that just hope that's going to happen.
Don't stop the journeys with the same.
Don't forget where you came from.
Remember that person that was hungry.
They wanted more.
Remember that person now because you're more to get.
One of the things you've got to understand, my friend,
is that you're supposed to fail.
You're supposed to fuck fail.
Because failure is the stepping stone to success.
It's not just cliche.
Failure is an experience that lends to wisdom
that ultimately makes you a stronger version of yourself.
Like until I make my dreams become a reality, I'm not quitting.
I don't get how much money I have to invest.
I'm going to continue to do this until I become successful.
All right, I've got a rule called the show up rule, right?
Somebody said you can pretend that you care, but you can't pretend that you're there.
The only way you can be there is to show up.
And what I'm asking you to do for me, you'll never be a failure if you show up every single day.
Every single day when I come, I show up and I let failure know.
Failure is not an option.
So what, it takes 12 years to get it forward?
Failure is not an option.
So what?
I put myself in a PhD program.
When I know that to be a great person, the PhD program, you have to read well, you have to write well, which are my two greatest weaknesses.
But failure is not an option.
Failure is not an option.
You can't even let it sink into your brain.
And not even a second, you have to know that this thing is going to work.
Come hell or high water, whatever it is that I set out to do, it may not happen in six months,
it may not happen in a year, it may not happen in two years, but at some point my dream is going to
become a reality.
I have not failed.
I've just found 10,000 things that do not work, right?
And who wrote that?
Yeah.
Thomas said, come on, come on.
These are the things that help me change my thought patterns, that help me to change my mind,
Listen to me. It's 10,000 things that didn't work. And all I have to do is the next one.
And once I do the next one, bam, I'm going to be successful. I'm telling you, every time I stand up here and do what I'm doing, all I can remember was sleeping in the abandoned buildings.
That's all I can think about. But I kept trying and I kept trying and I kept trying and I tell people, I am not the rabbit. I'm the turtle.
But I kept going. I was consistent. And I'm standing here today.
That's what life is about stretching and challenging, looking for ways that you can begin to improve yourself.
But what I found out in life, as life goes on, life is about losing.
As we get older, we lose our hair, we lose our teeth, we lose our mothers, our fathers, our sisters.
But it's the ones who overcome their lost in life and can shun away adversity and always willing to fight it.
Every particular moment in life are the ones that are able to transcend and be able to spread the world to other people who's in that same particular gender as they are.
you could turn anything in life into something if you just keep showing up.
If you throw shit against the wall, eventually something will stick.
You guys that have this potential, don't have this potential, you know, that shit dies.
What continues to last forever is a perseverance to always show up.
That's what champions do.
Every single champion is the same as every ordinary person.
The only differential is that they show up to the event every single day.
They see failure as a learning curve.
They welcome failure.
You learn more from failure.
than you ever grow from success.
So showing up and getting knocked on your ass,
finally test on fortune, stand back up and read it
face that endeavor, it's going to be the overriding factor
that makes a difference.
Everything you do, you do to the best of your ability,
it doesn't matter what you're doing,
it's the fact that you're doing it,
so therefore it means something to you.
It doesn't matter what you're born with,
it doesn't matter your potential,
how much, you know, the silver spoon of money you have,
all that can be attained if you show up,
and you're willing to risk failure for success.
You know, I get asked a lot, you know,
what is it?
secret of achieving goals. How do you really quantitative? How do you put it down so every day
you know if you're going in that direction of success or maybe you're altered? You know,
and people are like, man, is it your genetics? Is it your potential? Is it, you know, when it comes
down to it, success is nothing to do with potential. It's all about the perseverance of somebody.
When you feel like giving up, don't. When you're thinking about giving up, don't. When it look
like you ain't going to make it. Keep going. When they tell you you can't, come on, man, who are they?
When they tell you, you're not going to make it. Don't believe them, man. Don't believe them.
You've got to be relentless.
Quitting guarantees the failure. Once you quit, it rules out any chance of succeeding. The
Mere waking up every day putting the next foot in front of the next foot, at least keeps you in the game.
But you can choose in the midst of all of this that's going on to be happy in spite of life's challenges.
See, a lot of us because of our limited vision of ourselves, a lot of us who begin to focus on problems and enable them to overwhelm us, we begin to think that we have no options.
We begin to believe that there's no way out.
Well, guess what? There's always a way. Where there's a will, there's a way.
We have two primary choices in life. We can either accept conditions as they exist, or we can take the responsibility to change them.
See, a lot of people want to exempt themselves from taking responsibility. All they want to do is talk about the problem.
Every time you see them, they'll tell you their story over and over and over and over again.
No, no. You want to take responsibility.
for your life.
I got me here, I can get me out of this.
And I'm getting out.
I'm not going to be a volunteer victim.
I'm unstoppable.
This will not get me down.
You've got to make those kind of declarations to yourself.
I have never met anybody who became incredibly successful
in any area of their life until they had suffered
and sweated and sacrificed and kept their focus and fought through tears.
to tears and trials and tests.
And if you have a dream and you commit to it,
it will come to pass.
You must have patience and engage in consistent action.
We live in a world, ladies and gentlemen,
where people want instant gratification.
They want it right now.
No, it's simple, but it's not easy.
It's a system that if you work the system,
it works if you work it.
But make no mistake about it.
It's hard.
And you are the determining fact.
The people that make it in this world look around for the circumstances that they want and that they can't find them, they create them.
It's you that you must take personal responsibility to make it happen.
It's hard.
No easy.
It's not an option.
However, ladies and gentlemen, what you will discover is that it's worth it.
Write down five reasons of why it is worth it for you to become a diamond.
To experience that level of achievement, what is it that will give you the drive?
What is it that will ignite the courage in you?
to get up and come back again and again and again.
How is it that you would be able,
what reasons that can tap in to that deep down feeling
that goes to your gut,
that no matter how many times you get knocked down,
that you're coming back.
Listen to me, this is how you do it first
over six, seven years ago with no money,
no human resources, no building, no funding, no support.
The first thing we did was we dream, we wrote the dream doll,
we rehearsed the dream,
We looked at the dream, we talked about the dream, we slept with the dream, we woke up to the dream, we wore the dream, and now boom, it's our reality.
And for some of you, you stop dreaming.
You dream for a week and you stop because things around you don't look good.
You dream for a month, then when you get hit in the mouth, you quit and you give up.
You dream for a while, and when people tell you crazy, when people tell you you you're stupid, and when people tell you can never get done, you stop dreaming, and you go back to knowledge.
And I dare you to use your imagination.
I dare you when you broke to use your imagination.
I dare you when you're rich to use your imagination.
I dare you under every single circumstance.
Keep dreaming.
Keep looking at your dream.
Keep focusing on your dream.
Keep going after the dream because that's what true success is.
There is no passion to be found playing small
and settling for a life that's less than the one you're capable of living.
You got to get tired of losing.
You got to get to the point of your life where you say, I have had it.
I've had it with going in a restaurant looking on one side to see what I want to eat
and then look on the other side to see what I could have poor.
I'd had it living like that.
I'd had it borrowing money from people.
I'd had it living like a cringing animal when you don't have any money
and runs your blood pressure up.
You hear me? Poverty sucks.
Make no mistake about it.
And you've got to decide I have had it.
I'm not going to live like this anymore.
No, that's got to be.
It's got to be more for me.
And let me tell you something.
You deserve it.
You deserve a better life.
There is more to your life than you have been living.
You deserve it.
There's a certain delusional quality that all successful people have to have.
You have to believe that something different can happen.
The first step before anybody else in the world believes it is you have to believe it.
He who says he can and he who says he can't are both usually right.
Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.
I want to see how far I can go.
I want to see what I can accomplish.
I want to see what I can do, what I can be, what I can have.
I want to see.
I don't want to see what I think I can do.
I don't want to see what I think is possible.
I want to see what my life would look like if I didn't count the cost.
When you want something bad, you can't count the cost.
Because if you count the cost and you see how much it costs, you might quit.
You might give up.
So you gotta go in knowing that I don't count the cost.
I do as many push-ups as it take.
As many sit-ups as it take.
As many reps as it takes.
I study as long as it takes.
I pay whatever the price is.
Why?
Because if I start counting the cost, I might quit.
I might give up.
I might surrits.
Don't count the cost.
You get to a point when you don't count it.
You just do whatever it takes to get whatever you want.
Following your dreams is a lonely, solitary, scary, dangerous pursuit.
You can't wait for somebody to think you can do it.
don't think you can do nothing they can't do. Nobody knows but you. Nobody knows what you are.
Even sometimes you don't really even know what you are. You got to take your shot.
Have opinions and feelings about yourself, independent of the feedback. Look at your belief system every
single day and stick with it. Don't rush the process. Trust the process. Don't rush the process.
You got to be fearless. You got to be relentless. You've got to learn how to become resourceful. You've got to learn how to become creative.
At the core of a creative person is they believe there is always an answer.
If you don't think there's an answer, how creative are you going to be?
How long are you going to hang with that idea?
How long are you going to try to work it and percolate it and create it and make it something bigger?
And you've got to be so relentless, regardless of what comes down the pike,
that you're always looking for a way to get over, always looking for a way,
that you can break through, always looking for a way, that you can win,
always looking for a way, that you can strike a telling blow.
But you've got to understand, you can always get a little bit better.
You can always excel a little bit more.
You can always push it a little further.
You can always climb a little bit higher.
You can always better your best.
You can always go beyond anything that you have ever done.
And so all you're looking for new breakthroughs through practice and practice, you'll get better and better.
And when you know what you want, you will do anything it takes to get it.
My glory doesn't happen in front of a crowd.
It doesn't happen in a stadium or on a stage.
There are no medals handed out.
It happens in the darkness.
of the early morning in solitude where I try and I try and I try again with every thing I have
to be the best that I can possibly be better than I was yesterday, better than people thought I could be,
better than I thought I could be, then claim one victory that no one can ever take away from me
ever, a victory that is earned every single day, a victory of determination and will
and discipline
of victory achieved
because I will not
stop.
It's the character
of who you own.
It's not the title
that makes you.
It's not the success
that makes you.
The character defines the success,
defines the fame,
and it starts right there.
Championships aren't won
in the theater of the arena.
They're won in the thousands of hours
in the training room,
the labs, and the 5 a.m. runs,
and then it's raining,
whenever else is sleeping.
That's when it's won.
How you hold you.
yourself in the small things of life, build the character winning blocks of the things that
we're remembered for. Do the job right or don't do it at all. That's the same person who has
his hand raised on the podium one day. Same motherfuckers is how you look at something. If your
name's attached to it, then you do it right, the best of your ability every single time.
Some of y'all are so caught up on the game that you don't get it. It isn't practicing.
It is an eating right. It isn't making good decisions that you look at.
a certain way. It is how you practice. It is what you do that makes you look like you look.
It is the process of the grind that shaped you and forms you. It's not the game. And that's why
most of y'all get beat in the game or make mistakes in the game because you think brining is what
happens when the sun comes out. You think grind is what happened when the lights come on. You
think grind is what happened when people get in the stage. That's not grind. The real grind is
in the dark when nobody sees you. When nobody knows what you doing, when you study in without
coach when you putting in those extra wraps when you watching those videos and you get in this
fine when you change your music it's the process that makes you sweet and the problem with some
of y'all is you want somebody else to support your dream it's yours if you wanted to have it
get your butt up and make it happen if you wanted to have it rise and grind because this is my time
tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow ain't no such thing as tomorrow we only got today
What makes the difference in the quality of people's lives?
What makes some people leaders and other people followers?
Which makes most people talk about a dream and never follow through.
And other people just a small percentage, kick-ass, take names.
You can throw any obstacle out and they find a way to break through.
What's the difference?
It's not talent.
It's not skill.
It's hunger.
If you get enough hunger going in you for an answer, you'll find the answer.
If you get a hunger enough inside of you that says,
I got to take things to a next level.
achieve, I got to make a difference, I got to expand.
You will find the answer.
People's intelligence will expand if they
got enough hunger. But if you got everything and you're not
hungry, you're not going to have much.
There comes a fucking day.
Where push comes a show.
We're being mediocre, being like average and
just fucking burns. It sucks so much.
You can't deal with it one more
day. And you get off your
fucking ass and you create something
that's always been there. And no matter
what happens, I'm never going
to be in this boat again. And you get
When you go, even it gets knocked on, you just keep going, keep going.
You're a wild man.
It's within you.
And the people that have risen to that level were no different than any one of us.
It says they believed it and they're willing to work their keen ass off to get it.
It wasn't about the potential.
It wasn't about the genetics.
It was about the perseverance.
And it wasn't about being the hardest working worker in the room.
Egg game, all I got is an A game.
I ain't got a B gang.
I ain't got a C game.
When I finish, people are relying on me.
Some of y'all, when you get on the eight,
the field you forgot what it was like when you was hustling the high school playing ball when you were in
college hustling to get to this point but the difference between me and most people is you might be
sweeter than me you might be bigger than me you might grind listen to me i don't know you might have money
i don't know where you come from but you will not outwoke me every single time nobody gave me this
i earned it life wasn't a crystal stare for me didn't nobody give me a network i earned a network
everybody say e how did you crack the cold i'm grinding my way through the cold that's how
Carractics. Get up. Act like you playing basketball. Act like you playing football. Compete. That's what bothers me. Many of y'all are not competing. I need effort. Compete. Act like you play football. Go on that dog on classroom. Compete. Many of you have lost your competitive edge. Get your competitive edge back. I'm not against no other motivational speaker. I'm just competitive. You're not giving 120. You're giving 70. You're giving 60. You're given 50. And you walk with these people who've given sweats, who's giving blood, who's giving tears.
You want what they paid for, and it ain't free.
You got to get to a point where you are so locked in.
You are so centered that you don't hear anything around you.
All you hear is the dream said.
Let's go.
ET.
One more class, ET.
One more hour.
E.T. push.
E.T. push.
We're not going to wait.
We go do work.
We go put in work.
Because every time you put in work, you get the same consequences.
You get paid.
You get rewarded.
There's another kind of instinct that you need to be on the lookout for.
And this one is a liar.
This one is a saboteur.
This one is a backbiter.
This is the instinct that says, you've had enough.
You've given it your best shot.
You can stand down.
You can back off.
You can rest now.
Do not listen to that instinct.
Do not listen
And that is the instinct
You need to fight
You need to push back
To smash into the ground
Train that instinct
Train it to say
Get up
Go fight on
You don't punish yourself
It's never going to happen
You don't punish yourself
Somebody say eat you losing weight
I punish myself
I don't eat meat no more
That's a punishment
I had to give something up
To go up
What do you give up?
Do you not watch TV?
That's your problem.
You get to watch TV and not make money and still survive.
The reason why you broke is because you're getting a reward and you ain't working.
You got to stop playing.
Most of you what happens is when everything is favorable, you're a beast.
But when the conditions ain't right, you get smacked in the face.
You got to grow up.
You got to be a morning person, afternoon person, night person.
You got to be when you feel good person,
when you're sick person, when you're tired person.
And you don't get here by quitting when you're tired.
You get here by quitting when you finish, when you're done.
You don't stop when you're tired.
You stop when you're done.
You stop when you complete it when you execute it.
Execution is worship.
Greatness is in you.
But the problem is somebody's got to push you.
The problem is somebody's got to give you a reward.
Somebody's got a project.
The problem is you're not self-motivated.
You have to stay in.
beast mode. And so I'm looking at the clock and I'm saying technically you can go back to sleep.
Technically, but Eric Thomas, if you go back to sleep, you might not wake up to 3.30.
You might not wake up to 4 o'clock. And if you wake up at 4 o'clock, Eric, for 30 minutes of sleep,
you might be pushing your goals back a week. You might be pushing your goals back a month.
You might be pushing your goals back an entire year by sleeping for two hours because you missed an
opportunity. What do you do when somebody's not there watching you? What do you do when
You have to either do what it is you know you're supposed to do or you get to take the playoff because no one's going to know the difference.
Because it's really fucking easy for anybody to come to work on the days they feel like killing it and killing it.
But what happens on the days that you don't feel like killing it?
What happens on the days that you don't feel like getting out of bed?
Because those are the fucking days that are going to define where you end up in your life.
Sometimes horrible things happen to good people.
Life isn't fair and it can be heart-wrenching.
And if you're having one of those dark days, it's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay to feel that darkness.
When challenges and issues come back to back to back.
back to back and it seems like something is after me, something is attacking me, something is attacking my journey.
Look for the lesson in it all.
You will grow through what you go through.
The question is, are you willing to go through it?
When those bad things happen, what are you going to do?
Are you going to let this horrible situation dictate the way you feel and the way you handle it?
Are you going to fall over, fall down, fall apart?
Or are you going to face this issue with courage and with resolution?
You know darkness.
So embrace, embrace that darkness.
Don't look away from it.
Own it.
Step up to the challenge no matter what you face.
Start walking.
Take that step every day.
No matter what you are facing, get up and start walking.
and never surrender
and remember
that even in the most wretched
times when you face
darkness yourself no matter how bad things get
remember not to stop
remember not to pause
remember not to hesitate
remember to put one foot in front of the other
take that first step
and start walking and we will fight and in fighting we will
fighting we will win and if not the battle and if not the war we will win because
our spirit it will never surrender and that is the ultimate victory to hold
your head high and even in the face of inescapable defeat to stand and to fight that is to win.
Don't allow yourself a switch off button.
I know there's always an answer.
No matter how dark in that place maybe, there's always a way out.
Just got to keep going.
Hold on to that fundamental quality of faith.
Have faith.
And on the other side of your pain is something good.
Everybody wants to prize, but nobody loves the process.
Everybody wants to be a champion, but nobody's willing to put in the work that it takes to be a champion.
Everybody wants to hold up the trophy and say, man, I did it, but nobody's willing to put in the work that it takes to do it.
I love the process.
I love the thought of working for what I want.
And I firmly believe you never supposed to wish for it more than you're willing to work for.
The people they wish, and they're not willing to work.
A real man in the dark, when nobody's watching, he's putting in work.
Because he loves the process.
Championships aren't won in the theater of the arena.
They're won in the thousands of hours in the training room, the labs, and the 5 a.m. runs,
and then it's raining, whenever else is sleeping.
That's when it's won.
I'm here today.
I'm the ordinary person.
I focused on my craft.
I had burning desire to be excellent.
I love what I do.
It's my oxygen.
It's my DNA.
Four in the morning I get up and I'm working with my craft because I love it.
It's the hidden work.
I look at it as like a rock.
And that rock is you.
And every day you fight, not wanting to get up.
And you do anyway, you chip another piece off that fucking rock.
And every day you go to train, you train harder and harder and harder and harder.
And you get up earlier.
And all these things you do to start forming yourself.
You're chipping another piece of that rock up.
You know it.
That rock, it becomes the masterpiece in which you fucking created.
The Harvard champion is a light switch that's always on.
It doesn't go on and off when someone's watching.
It's constant.
It's how you look at something.
If your name's attached to it and you do it right, the best of your ability every single time.
Do the job right or don't do it at all.
That's the same person who has his hand raised on the podium one day.
Same motherfuckers.
It's what I did in the dark that blew me up.
It is in practicing.
It is in lifting weights.
It is in resting.
It is in eating right.
It isn't making good decisions
that you look a certain way.
It is how you practice.
It is what you do
that makes you look like you look.
It is the process of the grind
that shapes you and forms you.
The real ground is in the dark
when nobody sees you.
When nobody knows what you're doing,
when you're putting in those extra reps,
when you're watching those videos
and you get in this spot,
when you change your music,
it's the process that makes you sweet.
I'm talking about the commitment that says
I am going to stay true to
what I said I would do
long after the mood
that I've set it in as last.
You gotta begin with the end in mind
so whatever your dream
or your goal is,
you gotta wake up every day to it.
You gotta go to bed with it.
You gotta read stuff,
the music you listen to,
everything you do,
gotta pour into that dream.
I understand it isn't a process
that you get better.
I am not phenomenally skilled,
but I'm phenomenally will.
My IQ may never change,
but my will changes
every year.
I get stronger
and stronger,
and more determined. Why? Because it's in my DNA.
When you dedicate your life, you don't care anything about the odds.
When the dream is big enough, the arts don't matter.
Giving you all, it can be confusing to mediocre people.
You keep talking, smack, and I'll keep working.
You keep focusing on everything and everyone else, and I'll keep working.
Instead of killing them with kindness, tors you a fucking success.
Build the kind of life that says I told you so,
without having to say a fucking word.
While most people stop when they're tired,
I stop when I'm done.
The only thing limiting your horizons is you.
You've got to love it.
It's got to be what you are supposed to do,
saying it to yourself.
You've got to write,
even if no one published your book,
write because that was given to you to do.
You do what it is you're supposed to.
You're supposed to build something.
You're supposed to create something.
I don't know how to do it.
Learn do whatever is required.
It's you.
It's on you.
You've got to make that happen.
Nobody's going to bring it to you on a silver planet and say, here's your dream manifested.
It's difficult.
Yes, right, and it's worth it.
What are you playing this game for?
What's your passion?
What's your drive?
What's your purpose?
What's your purpose for playing this game?
Why are you doing what you doing?
If y'all going to be great on that field, you got to have a why.
You got to have a reason for why you do what you do.
You are phenomenal.
You are beyond measure.
I need you to act like it.
No alarm clock needed. My passion wakes me up.
I ain't need the clock in 20 years. My passion wakes me up.
My drive waits me up. My determination was my ability to be doing as whatever I want.
It wakes me up. What wakes you up? What drives you? Why are you playing this game?
Is it just a game? What do you eat it? Do you sleep it? Do you drink it?
Have you possessed the game? I ain't about to miss this opportunity. I'm about to get everything I got.
And I will know if I don't get another gig, it won't have them to do with the fact.
Now I didn't put everything on the field.
You have to want to work.
You never get better if you're not willing to put it in the time.
Most people think, well, I'll be successful if something happens.
I'll be successful if I win the lottery ticket.
Look, you're not going to be successful if you don't demand it.
If you literally don't stake a claim to it, say, this is mine.
It's in part.
You're not going to have it.
People need to know you for one major thing first.
He works.
He produces.
The guy's there every day.
The guy's pushing and shoving.
Because the truth is, no matter how good your ideas are, how good your art is, or how good your skill set is, if you're not working, man, if you're not vibrating at a frequency that people say, my God, how does that I got to do all that?
10x levels, massive action, tremendous work ethic that's just a muscle now.
And it's just a discipline in your life.
And it's a normal way.
You're not going to get in that top 10%.
Success is your duty.
It is your obligation and your responsibility.
A person with passion always stands out.
The world is so full of average that what you have passion and a sense of energy in your life, it distinguishes you.
When you're passionate about something, it isn't reasonable, but you do it anyway.
Passion will take you where nothing else will ever take you.
It'll give you that decided.
It'll help you to stand out.
If you want to be great, if you want to get the recognition, if you want to get fucking paid, if you want all the things that you dream about,
there is only one way to guarantee that you will have those things only one and that is becoming so
fucking good at what you do no matter what it is you do that it is undeniable that other people
recognize how great you are becoming undeniable is not something that sticks with you in a certain
role it's a character trait that you fucking develop that means any place that you are put you will
put in the work you will learn the skills you will improve your arsenal to become a
the undeniable best in that role.
And if you have that attitude to where it doesn't matter if you're cooking fresh fries
or you're making $10 billion business deals,
you are going to be the absolute best that you can be.
And there's nothing that can stop you.
It doesn't matter where you come from.
It doesn't matter what your background is.
It doesn't matter what race you are, what gender you are.
It doesn't matter who your fucking parents are.
Dude, we can make every excuse in the book.
But I promise you, for every excuse you can make,
there are literally thousands of people who had it harder than you that have done what the fucking want to do.
There is nothing that can fucking stop you when you become so skilled that every single person around you sees that and it recognizes that.
And that is a habit.
That is not a gift.
That is something that you can create.
It's a skill you can learn.
So develop the skill of becoming undeniable.
If you really want to guarantee your success, be fucking great.
Put the time in to learn the skills.
Put the skills into practice.
And make a commitment to becoming so good that all your peers say,
that's the motherfucker.
That's the best.
And if you can do that, you cannot be stopped.
You think you become a champion on the field?
You don't.
You become a champion when ain't nobody watching you.
When you're not doing what Coach telling you do, you're doing your own drills and your own way.
You're doing what Coach Tell you to do and you're doing your own stuff.
You'll become a champion in the dark when ain't nobody looking.
You don't become no champion when you put no dark on helmet on.
You become a champion the way you eat.
You'll become a champion in the way you think.
You become a champion in your grind.
And you just get on stage and you shine.
It's about a commitment to you.
That's what's wrong with a lot of you because you want somebody else to be more committed to you
than you want to be to yourself
and you got to get to the point
where no other human wants it for you
more than you want it for you.
I was shocked more people on a beast mode.
There are people who living from check to check
and they're comfortable.
Listen to me, unless you number one of your industry,
you shouldn't be chilling.
And if you're number one of your industry,
you got enough common system
though you better not be chilling.
So I need that done.
Execute, execute, execute.
Why?
Because when you get results, you get rewards.
If you really want this,
you got to learn the soccer fight.
You got to learn to give up to go up.
You want affirmation and look yourself in the mirror and say, I think I can.
I think I can.
I know I can.
Do whatever it takes.
You're your biggest driver.
I wake up every single day and I get what I get because I live and be smoke.
Y'all got to do me a favor.
Stop being gazelle.
You're not average.
You're not even good.
You were born to be great.
So be phenomenal or you will be forgotten.
The thing is, when you look back on your life,
You don't remember these days.
You don't remember how cold it was.
A little bit of sleep you might have missed.
Get headed bed early.
What you do remember is coming up second place, third place, not first place.
Because success doesn't know these things about cold or early or tired.
It just knows if you showed up or not.
Difference between someone successful and someone that's not successful is not their ability.
The differential is their desire.
See, some of you have dreams and goals.
But hard work, you can't get around it.
I wish there was a magic wand that I could wave that your passion, your dream, that thing you want to achieve, it could just happen, but it can't.
Hard work is required.
Hard work, work.
So you know what's great about our culture, y'all?
The world's lazy.
It's a good thing for you and me.
Nobody wants to do it.
Everybody will talk about it.
Everybody will post about it.
But nobody wants to roll up their sleeves and just go get it.
What are you doing to make your next effort, your best effort?
Are you reaching deep down inside to fight?
to fight through everything that you're going through right now.
Are you settling to be where you are at this current moment?
You need to work an hour longer.
You need to run just a little faster.
You need to put five more pounds on the rack.
That's the effort you need to be great.
That's the sacrifice that you have to put in
in order for you to get to the next level that you need to be in.
It's going to take the dog mentality.
It's going to take you.
getting the hold of the thing and not letting go.
You're going to have to fight and fight and fight
until you can't fight anymore.
If you put in your mind at this moment
that whatever it takes,
I will do whatever I have to do
to get to the other side,
to make it over,
to press through this,
nothing will hold me back.
Nothing will stop me.
You need to put more energy
into what you're doing to anybody else
so you're getting up at full.
and they're going to get up at 3.30.
So you read the book once
and you didn't get it. Read it twice.
Read it three times.
You can strive for 100%.
You may get to 99,
but that 1%
it can hurt more than anything.
1% is injuries.
1% is bumps and bruises.
1% is sweat, blood, and tears
every single day.
But when you're down and you feel out,
just remember this is that 1%.
So you push back, you fight back,
you get up,
Dust yourself off and get it back on track.
This ain't for the week and be uncommitted.
Sometimes it's going to hurt.
Sometimes it's going to be painful.
Sometimes you're not going to be able to walk.
But if you want it, you got to go get it.
You got to play hard for it.
Yuck is difficult.
Yuck, why?
Because the process is weeding out the week.
When you're walking out, you want to die.
Feel the pain happening in your legs as you wrap out one more squat.
Because it'll be all the more pleasurable when you reach the inevitable
little other end of the spectrum where you're laying in your hammock is sitting on a protein
shape. Boy, I really went hard. I really went hard on that set. I really went hard in school.
I really went hard in my career. I really went hard in life. Go hard. It's your job to make
yourself do the crap you don't want to do so you can be everything that you're supposed to be.
And you're so damn busy waiting to feel like it. And you're never going to.
Well, what about Jatlag? What if there's a time change? What if there's no good gym? Don't care. Time
change, don't care. Jat lag, don't care. Don't have a good gym? Don't care. Just shut your mind down.
It gets no vote. Set up your gear, set up your weights and do the work. Just do the work. Go through the motions.
Get it done. The greatest version of you is not the I can do anything version of you.
The greatest version of you is the disciplined version of you. The greatest version of you. The greatest version
you, it's a version that has parameters.
No, I don't do that.
I don't drink that.
I don't go there with these people.
I'm focused.
I have a prize that's in front of me.
I know what I'm supposed to do, and that ain't it.
I have to stay right here.
Most people can't succeed because they can't deal with all the old motherfuckers,
pull them off the game plan.
You're going to have to get real fucking comfortable sticking to your own plan and telling them
no when they want to go out on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
You got to let everything go.
with that thing you pursue.
You can't chase two rabbits
and catch both of them.
And the biggest thing I see
getting in the way
is your fucking feelings.
Your feelings.
Where there's a will,
there's a way.
When you've got air in your lungs,
then you have no excuse.
It's just a matter of perspective.
You're either gonna be a fucking sheep
or you're gonna be a line.
You're gonna be an attacker and a go-getter.
But if you want to sit there and pride
that you moan and whine all the fucking time
while you can't, can't, can't.
Then you sit your ass on that bench
with the losers and you stay there.
But don't expect me to turn around
and pat you on the back and say,
hey, good job for being a fucking quitter.
Get up and do something about it.
Either getting going, or you're getting worse.
You're sure it's not staying the same.
Our conversation's true versus you.
They have our arm's got to go off.
It's sending to die out for it.
Stay hard.
Same fuck.
Get stuck.
Life ain't about medals, certificates,
houses, money, cars, fame, all that bullshit.
It's about scars.
The scars show your willingness to get to their side.
They show your failures.
They show your ruinous.
from scratch.
They saw what you're willing to do to go the distance to see what you're careful of.
Everybody's living off the hope factor.
They hope the water never cold.
They hope the web's fucking good.
I don't live off that hope shit.
I wish the water was cold.
I wish the fucking rain.
Where the idiot is unknown and the distance is unknown.
That's what you know who the fuck you are.
I want to know what the fuck I'm made up.
I want to know what I can overcome.
And I know that the harder the obstacle to overcome, the more strength I'm going to gain from it.
It's about taking personal responsibility for your life.
It's about no more excuses.
It's about no more trials or tribulations getting in your way.
It's about getting up as early as you need to.
It's about doing whatever it takes.
Keep on camera on the market of the town of people.
That's the war in your way.
Know who you are.
What you want to be without a shadow of a doubt.
Whatever it takes.
one hits the ground at one point.
The question is, who gets back up?
Success is not measured on the days when the sun shines.
Success is measured on the dark, stormy, cloudy days.
And if you can't absorb failure, you're never going to meet success.
There's one thing about being in dark places.
If you have the courage to stay in there long enough, your eyes will start to adjust to the darkness.
your body and mind will always adjust to more suffering, to more pain.
If you want to push harder, know this.
Your mind quits way before your body does.
So you have to be willing to go away into that darkness and find more of yourself.
Failure is not final, it's formative.
It is part of the process.
It's part of the journey.
Your failure matters as much as your success.
How do you think you're going to grow if you don't ever fail?
Every one of my successes is stacked on top of failures.
Failure is just another peg in the ladder for me to go higher.
And some of you in this room today, you need to change your mind because some of you are thinking about giving up because you're in a season of failure.
But just because you failed doesn't mean that God doesn't have a bright future in store for you.
It is always too soon to quit.
Don't complain.
Don't murmur.
Don't talk negative.
Average people talk problems.
The greats talk solutions.
My greatest moments didn't come from my greatest moments.
My greatest moments came from my greatest defeats
because it was doing my defeat
that I had to find a way to get back up.
I love the sun, but things don't grow because of the sun.
You have to have some rain,
and you've got to stop looking at rain in your life
and something bad.
Delay don't mean deny.
Delay just mean you're going to wait a minute.
When the unsuccessful are in delay, they get nervous.
They get worried.
They give up.
They quit.
They stop.
They surrender because they don't see what they think they should see.
But when the successful are in delay, we work while we wage.
We work.
We work.
We grind in between time.
We don't give up.
We don't surrender.
We don't quit.
We see differently.
Our perspective is different.
And because our perspective is different, our outcomes are different.
Our rewards are different.
I will my way through every situation, every trial, every trible.
I will my way through it.
I don't care if it's cancer.
I will my way through it.
I don't care if it's MS.
I will my way through it.
I don't care if I'm struggling in school
and I'm trying to get a degree.
I will my way through it.
I don't care if you fail the boards.
Go again.
I don't care if you fail the law exam.
Go again.
Will your way through.
Some things you can skill yourself through.
Some stuff you've got to wheel your way through.
I want to encourage somebody out there who's thinking about quitting.
You're thinking about giving up.
this is for you.
You're going through a tough time.
Maybe you're walking through real depression.
Maybe you are in a valley today
that you've experienced the worst failure of your life
and you are on the verge of giving up.
Maybe you're here today
and your marriage is on the rocks.
Maybe you're here today
and you're dealing with anxiety on a daily basis.
You know what it's like to be in a lonely, dark place.
You know what it's like to want to quit?
You know what it's like when the pressure's overwhelming,
when people expect your best,
but you're at your worst.
That is a moment of choice.
That is a moment of decision.
What will your response be?
Are you going to sit back?
Are you going to step up?
Adversity creates the perfect moment for audacity.
It's in your adversity.
The thing that comes out of you is what defines you.
When life is squeezing you and pressure is on you,
what's really inside of you?
When life knocks on the door, when you go through some stuff, when you get a bad diagnosis, that's when you have to pull on your faith.
That's when you have to be resilient.
If it feels kind of dark all around you right now, I want to remind you, it is always the darkest before dawn.
And dawn is coming.
You've got to be willing to go against the tide.
You've got to be willing to harness your will.
And say, in spite of this, I'm in control.
here. I'm not going to let this get me down. I'm not going to let this destroy me. I'm coming back.
You can decide that you're going to stand up to life. You must have faith. You've got to believe in
yourself. You've got to believe in your abilities. You've got to believe in your service,
your company, your ideas, unquestionably. You've got to have faith, and that faith gives you
patience. That is not going to happen as quickly as you wanted to happen.
But you've got to keep moving and keep plugging away.
If people ask you, say, how are you doing?
Even if you're having some difficult times, say, I'm blessed and highly favored.
Because any time you wake up and you don't have a white chalk outline around your body, it's a great day.
And so I say to you, it's possible you can live your dream.
If it's becoming a diamond, if it's having more, it's achieving more,
it's a better father, being a better mother, whatever it is, overcoming addiction, changing our society.
it's possible you can live your dream.
It's necessary that you have a plan of action,
that you're resilient, that you stick to,
and you work with the system,
that you work with people, that you give support,
and that you be there for them,
that you have the vision and never give up,
that you become creative and relentless,
and keep on coming back again and again and again,
and that it's true that you've got to take personal responsibility
to make it happen, and that it's hard,
easy is not an option,
and when life knocked you down, jump back up and say,
it's not over until I win.
No.
